Mi Fortuna es Amarte #8 Friday 3/4/22

1. At Benja's silent urging, Chente asks Natalia to stay and talk about a solution  to their problem. Chente offers to make a house payment ahead of time so Natalia has some cash to find a place to stay. JuanGa is less trusting telling him to go ahead and give her payments for  two months  so she can come back with a lawyer and throw him out. Chente  thinks they should just sign the new contract and then he can give her the payment. Natalia cannot accept his offer.

2. Claudio is leaving some bar drunk as a skunk telling Teresa he is just leaving a  meeting with some colleagues and a government secretary. Martinique awaits them! As he goes to get his car, he finds out it no longer has  a couple of tires, headlights, etc., and is left bawling about Martinique on the street.

3. Chente and Andrea do not understand why she won't take the deal. After hearing that his place is horrible from Andrea, Chente remarks how her daughter just keeps on offending them. Natalia explains that an early payment does nothing to solve the problems she is facing. She doesn't need a place for a couple of nights. She needs a place to live. This is her house but she is willing to sign the new contract with one condition: they both live in the house.

4. Claudio has Tavo tow his car. Tavo's' opinion is that it is going to cost a fortune to fix. Claudio reminds him that they are family so he can just fix it and put it on his account. When he is named as consul, he will pay him back every last cent. Tavo smiles and says he has saved him so many times but this time he just cannot. He will store the car until he can pay for the repairs.

5. Chole is doing Olga's nails when Olga remarks that she doesn't want to make things worse but has to ask if she thinks that  Gus will leave his little redhead for her. Chole says not yet because it is going to be very hard for him to end his marriage.  There are so many things in play. Olga  adds "like money." Chole gives her a disgusted look. Olga asks her how she is supposed to be jumping for  joy because Chole is doing the same thing as she did chasing after a married man. Chole insists it is different in her case. She and Tavo have been friends, they have confided in each other and have been through good and bad times together.  Tavo's reasons go beyond money. In the case of Chente, he loved Lucía with his whole heart while Tavo hasn't been happy with his wife for many years. Olga yawns and reminds her that he is off limits and she is nothing more than his lover.  Olga goes on to tell her that something really strange happened. She ran into Valentina. They were talking and Valentina saw somebody on the street. She suddenly she got pale like a ghost. She was all nervous and even started to shake. Olga is sure that she she is hiding  something that isn't good.  Chole looks upset.

6. JuanGa tells Natalia that she isn't fooling him. She wants to move in so she can take it all away from Chente. Regina jumps to Natalia's defense and tells him not to talk to her mother that way.  Their father left them without a peso to their name and they were thrown out of their house. She asks the brothers if they do not think it was a big deal  that their father left their mother on the day of their wedding anniversary for his lover?  Chente is shocked.   Natalia says yes, they had been married for 20 years. Stupid JuanGa makes a joke saying that the 20th wedding anniversary is for china. They really broke the dishes on that one!!! Chente has to shut him up and apologize for his brother's rudeness. Chente leaves with his family to discuss her proposal.

7. Andrea complains as usual. Natalia tells her it is her decision and she will have to respect it.

8. Chole visits Valentina at the garage to make sure she is doing okay.  She explains that Olga told her that she was really nervous earlier because she saw something or . . . someone.  Valentina says that Olga knows her story and she will not keep any thing from her.  She asks if she remembers the novio she told her about. Chole says of course. He wanted to sell Valentina. Valentina tells her that she thought saw him (Félix) today.  She isn't sure it was him but is afraid he has come looking for her. If he finds her, he is capable of killing her. Chole tells her she is not alone and goes to talk to Tavo.

9. Tavo is happy to see Chole at the shop. He reminds her they have their dinners scheduled for tonight. She is going to cook  him something very tasty.

10. Mario is at the office with his sister. She cannot believe how stupid he was to give his passport to Natalia. She tells him to get it back. Mario sees no need because he isn't planning on running away. He needs her to sell the properties that he put in her name as soon as possible. She reminds him that will take time. He knows but with that money he can pay off the most urgent debts. It is the only way he can save himself. She agrees to get right on it but also warns him that he needs to get out of Mexico immediately. He is afraid that if he flees it will only show that he is guilty of all of the charges.  Tania thinks it would be easier to handle things from abroad than from a jail cell.  She tells him to get his passport back or he will end up rotting in jail for a fraud he didn't commit.

11. As Benja watches Natalia and her family through the window, Chente tries to explain to his brothers that Natalia is a mother with two daughters she has to care for. His brothers think the daughters are cute. Chente feels like he has been getting mixed messages from Natalia.  JuanGa doesn't trust her. 2XJosé thinks that the fact that she showed up at a stranger's house to live with her two daughters proves that she must really be desperate. Chente is still unsure and asks how long should he let them stay for. A day or two? a week? 2XJosé suggests a couple of  months. He tells Chente that he is good person and everyone knows it. He could really make a difference is this woman's life. He taught them that as poor people they always should support others. Chente asks Benja if they should let Natalia and her family live there. Benja  nods.

12. Claudio tells Teresa what happened to the car and asks her for a little check so he can pay for the repairs. She says he knows she doesn't have any money. He asks how is he supposed to move around? There are so many government secretaries he has to be in contact with. She tells him to use public transportation. He wants her to asks Connie. She is supposed to take care of her as was stipulated in her  father's will. Teresa reminds him that Connie already gave them the money for the month and he already spent it all. He says to ask for a loan. He talked to a government secretary secretary today and within the month he will be named to his post at Fort-de-France. Teresa will try to get more money from Connie.

13. Chente gives Natalia the good news that he,  his brothers and Benja have all decided that she and her family can stay at the house. She thanks him but doesn't want him doing it out of pity. He says that is not it. He thinks she is admirable. She thinks the same of him. He says there are the laws of the courts and those of humanity. She agrees that they will draw up and sign the contract and they shake on it. He welcomes them.

14. Teresa goes to ask Connie for money to fix the car. Connie tells her she is not about to fall for the  same lie that Claudio uses to dupe everyone. His supposed "naming"to a consular position is never going to happen. It would be better for her to ask where he was when his car got vandalized. Teresa says he was coming from a very important meeting. Connie tells her mother not to be so naïve. Connie says she is obliged to help her but not her husband. Teresa says it is her car and it is at Tavo's garage. Connie agrees to have "Gusito" (really??) (Tavo) repair it but her mother needs to open her eyes already, PLEASE! Claudio is a freeloader. She should get rid of him rather than spoiling him the way she does. Teresa thanks her and tells her she will be out of her hair ASAP. Connie can only hope so.

15. Everyone sits  at Chente's table to get themselves organized.  Upstairs,  are four bedrooms: one for Chente, one for Benja and  one for Granny  Magos when she comes to visit.  The guest bedroom is available. Natalia says that is fine for the three of them.  Chente adds that here is also a maid's room on the  back patio. It has its own bathroom so her  daughters can stay there. Andrea starts to complain about having to stay in the "chacha's" room. Chente literally has to bite his lip as Regina corrects her. There is also a storage room  that they can use that is almost empty. Regina says she will stay in the maid's quarters. Her sister can stay in the storage room. Andrea isn't about to sleep on the floor. Natalia says she will send for their furniture and then Andrea can sleep in her own bed. Until then, she can sleep with her. JuanGa tries to flirt with Andrea but  gets nowhere fast. 2XJosé offers to help Regina with her suitcase but she says she can do it herself.  Chente is going  to show Natalia her room and Benja runs to grab her hand and lead her upstairs.

16. Tavo is  all dressed up for his date with Chole when Connie notices him and wants to know where he is going or better yet with who???

17. Mario is at his office when the  authorities come to arrest him.  He  tells Tania to contact his lawyer.

18. Chente show Natalia the room. He says the furnishings are very simple. If she wants to bring her own furniture, he will store his at his auto shop.  No, she is only going to bring over the daughters' bedroom furniture. It will be less expensive that way.  He sends Benja off to get a fresh towel for Natalia. Natalia comments on how tender Benja is. He reminds her so much of Regina. Chente remarks it has been days since Benja was so animated. He seems  happy that they are there. Natalia thinks that she and Benja are going to be good friends. That makes Chente smile. Chente informs Natalia they can do whatever they want with the rooms they are staying in but they are not to change anything else in the house. His wife arranged everything with such love in the house, that he wants to keep it  the same as a memorial to her. Natalia agrees to be respectful of  his request and will also talk to her daughters.  Natalia says she understands Chente's pain because in a way she buried her husband. She isn't talking about the man who ran away with his lover but the father of her daughters whom she loved and respected and spent 20 years of her life with. That man died. She will always keep his "last words" in her mind:  "I am toasting on our anniversary to the time that we share/shared (compartimos: same spelling in present tense and  past tense/ what was his intent?) together."  Somehow it made her feel that he had never stopped loving her. Evidently it was one big lie. Chente feels sorry for her. She supposes that he also will never forget the last words of his wife.  Chente remembers Lucía telling him that she didn't want him and Benja to be alone. She wanted him to find a good woman to care for them. Suddenly with tears in his eyes,  he tells Natalia that this is never going to work. He made a mistake in letting her come to live there.

19. Tavo asks if she doesn't like the way he looks. Connie says he will never impress anyone. He thinks he looks very good.  She asks "Gusito" where he is going and tells him not to lie. He says he wanted to surprise her and take her out to eat.  She asks "HER?"   He answers "Who else?" She is his wife and the only woman in his life. Since this hasn't happened for years, she would have liked for him to given her some advance notice. He says with her headache and all, maybe they should let it go for another day. Connie literally pulls him back as he tries to walk away. She thinks it is an excellent idea. There is an Argentine restaurant that she wants to try. She will be ready in an hour.  Tavo looks stricken.

20. Benja brings Natalia her towel. She thanks him for letting her and her family stay at his house. He touches her face. She grabs his hand and  asks him to help everyone living the house to be friends. He nods his head in a agreement. He grabs her hand and takes her to his room. He shows her his stuffed animals  and a drawing of his family. As Chente enters silently, Benja shows Natalia a photo of him and his mother. As she comments on  his mother holding him with so much  love in the photo, he starts to cry. She tells him that his mother has never left him because she lives in his heart. Anytime he misses her, he should close his eyes and think about her because she is still taking care of him all of the time. She tenderly strokes his face as he cries and Chente watches.

21. Connie looks sort of excited picking out something to wear to go out with Tavo. Then she thinks back on her mother telling her to value her husband and how he could leave her for another woman. She chooses something that she thinks will look better on her. Nobody is going to leave her like Natalia was left.

22. Chole is bringing home the "groceries" for Tavo's dinner and she runs into Olga. It turns out that Chole  had a lot of work and had to settle for getting some take out for their dinner night. She goes to change and asks Olga to please put the food in the refrigerator.  Tavo calls. Olga answers Chole's phone. Tavo asks her to give Chole a message: he will be an hour or two late because something happened at home that he has to take care of. She says she will tell her but looks like she could be up to something.

23. 2XJosé brings Regina her bedding in the  maid's quarters. Regina is pleased with the space.  2XJosé does whatever he can to be of assistance but can't find anything  that she will let him help her with.  She finally gives in on his offer to help her paint the walls any color she wants.  She knows nothing about painting walls. He is overjoyed. She suggests they do a report on how to "paint a room"  for one of the social  networks she is on. He can get into that. He has a channel on video games. She loves to learn new things and he can teach her.

24. Andrea is all prissy and pissy-faced in the storage room.  JuanGa brings her a bulb for the light fixture. He tries to be friendly but she isn't having it. She calls Omi to come and rescue her.

25. Chente sits reminiscing about Lucía. 2XJosé comes in to tell him that Regina is happy with her room. All Chente can talk about is  how Benja has reacted with Natalia. It is the first time he has seen him a little animated. 2XJosé says he even grabbed her and so she wouldn't leave. Chente thinks it may have something to do with how he sees her treating her daughters so lovingly. 2XJosé says he needs to tell the therapist. This is something to be happy about. Chente sees it as a miracle . Benja was so shut inside himself  he was lost. 2XJosé is sure that little by little Benja will return to them.  Chente needs to have faith. Chente just doesn't understand how Benja could achieve  this step with a stranger. 2XJosé thinks that Benja must have felt her motherly love just as Chente said. Chente wonders if it would have happened with somebody else. 2XJosé doesn't know but thinks it is a good thing to be helping out señora Natalia.

26. Omi has arrived and Andrea goes running to the door. She cannot take this flea ridden place. Natalia, accompanied by Benja,  tells her not to come home late and to send her locations to her sister's cellphone so she knows exactly where she is. Andrea leaves.

27. Natalia tells Chente that she needs to get to know the most important part of the house, the heart of the house: the kitchen. Chente thinks that is  a good idea because Benja's stomach is growling. Natalia offers to make something so they can all  eat together. Benja nods in approval. Chente goes to lead the way but Benja motions him to stop as he takes Natalia's hand and leads her into the kitchen. Chente smiles as Natalia shows Benja what ingredients they re gong to need.

28. Mario is in jail.

29. Tania talks to the lawyer Mr. Ortiz. He tells her that the foreign bank account  that they found in Mario's name was what ended up connecting  him to the fraud committed by Adrián. The lawyer doesn't want to give her any false hopes. Mario is being charged with fraud and illicit gains. He could see himself in jail from four months to eleven years if convicted. His bail is going to be considerable. Mr. Ortiz is sure that Adrián is responsible for it all but they have to be able to prove it. Tania asks why is it so easy to charge Mario for it all. He explains that Mario is a partner at the finance company and its legal representative. She needs to be grateful that the judge put off charging him. She asks him if he knows that she and Mario went to see a notary. The lawyer doesn't want to know anything about it. He will not be an accomplice to what  he suspects they did. Tania admits to now having some doubts about what they did. He says if she is now asking if she put herself in jeopardy, the answer is YES.   Another YES  to her losing all of her brother's property and ending up in jail  herself.

30. Tavo and Connie are at the restaurant where she is taking forever to make up her mind about what to order.  He doesn't understand why she is taking so long when she always ends up ordering a salad anyway.  She insists she just might try something different. She asks Gusito if he is in a hurry.  He says no, it is just that he is very hungry and doesn't want to order without her ordering. She meanders through the menu.

31. Chole has the table all set for dinner at her place and is waiting.  Olga thinks Tavo must have stood her up.  (guess she didn't give her the message after all) Chole is  going to call him but  Olga  stops her. What if he is with his wife?  Probably,  he preferred to be at home with his wife.

32. Connie finally orders  . . . . a Caprese salad. Tavo looks disgusted. Connie want to know the truth. Why did he want to take her too to eat? He says you have to take advantage the moment. He goes on to tell her that for years now their marriage hasn't gone well. It has turned to to be torture for both of them because they always end up fighting. She is intolerant and treats him badly. He cannot take it anymore. She asks him not to make a scene. All she has ever asked of him is to act like a husband who knows his place. He asks if she means a silent submissive husband who allows himself to be humiliated and be her lap dog. He is tired of her tyranny. Connie does her best by smiling and trying to keep up appearances since she is in public. She tells him he is exaggerating everything  as he always does. He disagrees. He always ends up being the idiot when it comes to her. She asks what he has  done to better their relationship. He asks what hasn't he done??? He says everyday he has made an effort. She asks if that has been an effort to forget her, hate her, leave her all alone, to blame her for it all?? She asks since when has he made an effort to love her???

33.  Natalia and Regina work in the kitchen, Benja watches. Regina has noticed how Benja seems to really likes Natalia. Natalia thinks he is a lovely child and tells him she hopes he likes the "sopa de coditos"(elbow macaroni soup)  they are making. Natalia would have liked to put some canned pomodoro tomatoes in the soup but  she has to take advantage of what Mr. Ramírez has in his home. Regina tells Benja that her mother's soup is always very special because she always puts in a pinch of LOVE. Regina is the first to try the soup. Chente come into the kitchen. Natalia asks Benja if he would like to try it. He nods his head. She give him a taste. She asks him if he likes it. He nods and smiles which makes Chente smile. Natalia thinks that Benja likes the ham and cheese combination. Benja smiles some more and nods. She is going to get him another taste.  Chente is grinning ear to ear.

Jarifa, the picture you paint, the atmosphere you bring to the scenes, the pitch perfect tone in your narration was wonderful.

I loved last night's episode but your recap even more. "2XJosé" and "Andrea is all prissy and pissy-faced" both made me smile.

Watching Natalia and Benja was a joy to behold. His wide-eyed drinking in every ounce of her kindness, caring and sweetness certainly lightened his heart, at least for a bit. I could have watched them for the entire hour. "Chente is grinning ear to ear" - of course he is, and so am I.

It's a shame Connie, Olga and Andrea had to darken our screens, but alas...

Tavo spoke up. Finally. But now that he has talked the talk, will he walk the walk, right out of the house and the business? I don't think he's ready, but I hope I'm wrong.

I can't wait until Olga finds out the new living arrangements. I can see her hosting the big Welcome to the neighborhood party now! :)

Right now, I just want to remember the touching scenes with Nat and Benja. In the midst of despair, a tiny bit of light is sometimes all that is needed.

Jarifa, thank you, thank you.

Diana

MI fortuna.

Jarifa, thank you so much for all the details of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Those scenes of Natalia and Benjy bonding tugged at my heartstrings. However, I do worry about that very young actor doing all that crying and grieving. Susana makes you be!ieve every word she says and every move she makes . Getting down to Benjy's level so that she can look into his eyes and hold his hands is wonderful . Also, she cooks with love , so Benjy is eating . I think that he looks at Nat and she reminds him of his sweet, gentle mother .

I also love kind, thoughtful 2xJose,and it seems he and Regina are going to fall for each other's sweetness.

Andrea will be the problem.

Ha .." Prissy and pissy" says it all

Jarifa, many thanks for this excellent recap of this episode of a slightly crazy novela. Thanks also for "2XJosé"   :-)

I thought that Tania actually showed a little concern for her brother Mario when talking with the lawyer. It must have been an act.

Gus "dressed up" really made me laugh, but perhaps Chole would have seen him differently. He also made me laugh because he was sprucing up, right in front of his wife, to go have a date with his girlfriend. I suspect that this is not the way to do it.

In any case, it worked out okay for Gus, at least in one respect, he got to unburden himself about the marriage and at a nice restaurant where his so-called wife would not want to make a scene.

Chole and Gus are something of an unlikely couple, but so far they are my favorite. It does, though, make me wonder how Chole could still be available. Seems to me that there would be a constant stream of guys asking if she cut men's hair and, by the way, what are you doing Saturday night?

Now why did Vulga not give Chole the message from Gus? And even, I think, erase the call from the phone. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, Olga.

MI FORTUNA

JARIFA MIA, Love the 2XJosé, the explanation on when the imperfect and present tense are the same, and the translation of "sopa de coditos" as elbow macaroni soup. Sounds like it could have been a good minnestrone with pasta, were tomatoes available but ham and cheese make anything taste better!

Thank you for this:

"As she comments on his mother holding him with so much love in the photo, he starts to cry. She tells him that his mother has never left him because she lives in his heart. Anytime he misses her, he should close his eyes and think about her because she is still taking care of him all of the time. She tenderly strokes his face as he cries and Chente watches. "

That scene tore me up because it seemed so real. The child's tears were wrenching as he crumpled into the sadness of missing his mother. Like SUSANLYNN, I worry about a child having to portray those kinds of emotions. Where is he going in his mind to summon that kind of deep, crushing grief?

It was an incredible scene and has totally hooked me into this story. But should a child be exploited that way for our entertainment? It really makes me wonder about our value system.

Those concerns aside, this was a great episode and a great, well detailed and organized recap. I found it strange that Constanza set aside the soft, dusty rose outfit for a harsh, unflattering black dress when she worried about her mother's warning about losing her husband. Was her aim to appear harsh and threatening? rather than soft and feminine? Anyway, the contrast between her appearance and Chole's wonderful, warm and very womanly outfit was cruel--given that Tavo was never going to make it to her home that night.

And oh my, Olga, so jaundiced that you can't stand anybody else getting some love in her life!? So you sabotage your friend's mind and heart! Just so sad.

Oh well, don't see a good choice for Tavo in this situation, if he wants to hang on to the "taller". Poor fella, she has him by the short hairs and enjoys giving them a good hard twist from time to time. Maybe she and Olga are related!

Thanks for all your careful reporting,JARIFA, my mind tends to go blank on all the financial details but you clarified it beautifully. Poor Mario. With a sister like that, who needs enemies?

Diana, I couldn’t recognize him at first but 2XJosé is played by Andrés Vásquez who played Dimitri in “Vencer el desamor/pasado”. This is turning out to be a very good story. I especially think that Natalia and Chente’s parts have been very well-written showing their confused emotional states springing from their life -changing losses. There are no fast or easy recoveries in this one. No, I do not think Tavo is ready to split yet but cannot wait until he does. Yes, those scenes between Natalia and Benja were so well-crafted and played.

Susanlynn, ITA that 2XJosé and Regina are headed to “couple-hood.” They are both sweet people as you noted. Susan González is a natural for this role. Natalia has a whole other vibe aka “maternal ” as compared to that crazy Olga and Benja sure feels the difference.

Looking at Chente, he may not be rich but he is clearly a self-made man on the move and quite a catch I would say.

Jarifa, I did think 2XJose looked familiar but couldn't place him so thank you!

"Gus "dressed up" really made me laugh...He also made me laugh because he was sprucing up, right in front of his wife, to go have a date with his girlfriend. I suspect that this is not the way to do it" as well as your musings on Chloe's availability also made me smile.

Susanlynn and Judy, yes, it is rather frightening as to how Benji is able to convey such realistic heartache for one so young. After these grueling scenes, I hope he is able to laugh, play and live the life such a small child should be enjoying, with lots of love and no worries.

Diana

Andy, I still cannot figure out exactly whose side Tania is really on, either. Right now, I am going to conclude she is just nuts. ITA about Gus and Chole but I have seen even more unlikely couples in real life. I hope we get more of Chole’s backstory so we know why she has been supposedly alone all this time. As for Olga, I think she was being plain old mean.

JudyB, glad you enjoyed the past/present tense meaning and interpretations. Adrián could have easily been saying goodbye in his own twisted way with that toast. Poor Tavo, he is really caught by the short hairs. He needs a good divorce lawyer who could give him an estimate of what he could expect financially if he decided to divorce. As for Mario, I cannot see him getting out any time soon.

Thanks, Jarifa. I'm so glad you decided to recap this one. "prissy and pissy-faced" -- sidebar worthy!

As Benja watches Natalia and her family through the window, -- I haven't watched this episode yet, but that scene sounds so precious. I sure hope that between takes they shower the young actor with fun moments, but then that could be a problem too. In interviews I've seen of child stars now grown, they say they preferred comedies, not heavy stuff. Now that Natalia has broken through Benja's shell, I hope things stay cheery for him.

Uh-oh, Valentina's ex who tried to sell her into prostitution is stalking her. Dang, the ex is played by Ricardo Franco and he is so hawt! IIRC Valentina said she escaped by slashing him? If so, I hope we get to see her slug him again.

Why is gorgeous and hard-working Chole not already taken by some handsome guy? I'm going to guess that she and Olga come from a hard-knock family and background where the men are nogoodniks.

Thanks for the update. I actually watched most of this, yet miss so much.

First not to be a stickler for the truth...but Chete's restored truck could never ever be parked on the street. Never ever. That is what those metal gates are for. I'm sure if it was stripped or taken...the mx city police would explode into hoots of laughter. Nuf said.

Meanwhile these mansions..who decorated these hellholes. Was there a jumbo sale on furnishings from seized oligarch villas. If so that explains a lot.

Now then Natalia and her heart of golden goodness. Do they make these actresses watch June Cleaver over and over? And the men watch Don Draper? Seems so.

Olga what can even be said? Get out all my 90's music cause she just puts the SKA in skank.

And Nat's sister jeez issues much. I am guessing Tavo is supposed to bad swimmers? Really I imagine entering the womb of ice would have a negative effect.

Fevered

Thank, Jarifa, for the detailed recap. A lot was happening.

The scenes with Benji and Natalia are so touching. A long time ago I read that one child star(maybe Shirley Temple)would be told her dog died, or something equally sad, to bring on the tears. I hope that cruel way of getting the children in the right mood is long gone.

Gus and Chole make more sense to me than Gus and Connie. They both fit in the neighborhood, and would be considered “working class”, as opposed to Connie’s mansion and money.

Olga did erase the call. I thought she and Chole are cousins, and Chiole is helping her out. I could be wrong. Either way, Olga shouldn’t mess in her life.

I’m ready for some happiness in this, I feel it’s coming!

Hey, you guys are getting all concerned for Benjy for no good reason. I'm quite sure that child actors are cared for much better in present-day Mexico than they ever were in Old Hollywood.

I imagine that they have an acting coach, cum child psychologist, who preps him for his scenes. Kids love to play games and I'm quite sure his coach plays games with him. "Okay, Bengy, this time they want you to have a really sad face. I don't know if you can do that... Oh, you can? Let me see it."

"Well, that's not bad, but I can do better than that. Here's my really sad face..."

"Do you think you can do better than that? You do?"

"Wow! That's pretty good, can you do it on-camera? OK!"

So they shoot the scene and when the director calls "Corte!" everybody applauds Bengy, he gets a pat on the head and a kiss from the best-looking woman on the set, he gets a new toy and an ice cream.

Then he gets driven home to his loving mom and his three month old puppy who is so happy to see Bengy that he wets the floor. Bengy's mom laughs, Bengy laughs, Bengy's Guardian Angel laughs, and then Bengy's Guardian Angel, his mom's Guardian Angel, and the puppy's Guardian Angel all sing a happy song that only Bengy can hear.

Bengy is having a great time. Be happy, don't worry.

Andy

Fevered, re the "womb of ice", poor Constanza is not getting much sympathy here. I almost feel sorry for her.

Liz, "I’m ready for some happiness in this, I feel it’s coming!"
I certainly hope you're right because I'm more than ready. And just a little afraid the novela powers-that-be will want to pile on some more misery first. But I hope not.

Andy

Andy, Ha....you've convinced me. I feel better about the little guy now that I know he has a coach, a happy mom,a new puppy, and a bunch of Guardian angels. What a relief.

Andy

True that about the kids. I was be reading be about the kids in the Turkish Telenovelas..good lord, but then you see all these posts showing the kids with me the villains laughing it up. Yeah the kids are protected.

I think nice Nata , noble Chente, Cool 2xJose, sweet Regina, and happier Benjy will bring us some happy times. Maybe Benjy will get a puppy.

JARIFA, Chente used an expression with Natalia I've never heard before--"cayendo el muerto, y soltando el llanto". According to the internet it refers to a "trato de compra-venta. Es decir en cuanto me pagues te lo doy y vice versa. Makes sense according to their agreement but it also is an example of where the closed captions can lead you astray. Mine said "cagando el muerto" which is a totally different meaning! or non-meaning and sure glad I checked it before using the word. Yikes.

Niecie, glad to see you on the patio! This promises to be a really fun novela. Yes, you are right about Valentina saying she slashed Félix with her ring. After seeing the scar, you would think he would have learned his lesson. I join you in hoping that she really slugs him if he gets too close this time.

Liz, yes, it seems that Olga erased Tavo’s call and yes, Olga and Chole are cousins. It seems like Olga is just one jealous and miserable person. If she isn’t happy, nobody is going to be happy. I hope that Chole kicks her out if she finds out about the call or doesn’t pull her weight at the shop.

Fever, “Was there a jumbo sale on furnishings from seized oligarch villas?” Says it all on the interior decoration style at Connie’s.

JudyB, from what I could find, that particular saying is used in all kinds of business deals meaning one party has to do their part before the other will do theirs. Technically, Chente entered into a “rent to buy deal” as a way of purchasing his house from Adrián. As for closed captions, they have to be computer generated because there are way too many errors. They couldn't even catch “sopa de coditos” in the last episode. That being said once in a while they can be a life saver. ; )

I noticed that JARIFA when I re-watched the episode...for "coditos" it just said "indistinto". Luckily we had you to figure it out with your native speaker skills. Feel very lucky to have your help, my friend.

Jarifa: Thanks for all the added insight and depth you brought to this episodio. You also filled in so many of the blanks for me. Some things just get lost in translation otherwise. -- I like the 2xJose moniker, and I figure JoseJose must be like Jojo? What could Pepe Pepe be similar to I wonder? --I think maybe Andrea has met her wisecracking match in Juanga. --JuanGa is as obnoxious as Andrea, just from two different parts of town. He makes sarcastic wise-cracks and she makes sophisticated social slurs--well, just slurs she considers sophisticated.

Jarifa: Good Job on the recap of Friday night's episode.

Chnete sure loves to grin non-stop.

I meant to say Chente.
