Mi Fortuna Es Amarte #53, 05/10/22: A Night Full of Suprises

Just as Natalia is waiting for Vicente to get his truck back to take her to the supposed rendezvous point with Veronica, Andrea races in and begs her mother to come with her for something extremely important-and no she cannot discuss it there.  Natalia agrees and balks when she sees the limousine parked outside to take her, Regina, and Andrea to meet Adrian.

Once they arrive, they see a sign with "Forgive me" and flowers.  Adi goes on bended knee and begs forgiveness and a new chance to join the family again.  Regi is convinced--not a good sign for the good guys--so we wonder if Nata is....

Meanwhile, Nata doesn't show at the meeting place.  Olga talks a mile a minute doing her best to convince Chente to give up on Natalia because she simply belongs to another world much different than theirs.  Nata and her two girls are going to stay with their husband/father.  Chente insists that Nata isn't like that and does love him, not her traitorous hubby.  That's why she purposely left her phone at the house, so he couldn't find her.  Chente calls back to the house to see if she's returned.  Claudio gives him the bad news that Veronica is still out of the country and Nata has gone to see about her husband--but who knows where. Chente has an emotional breakdown and informs La Vulga that she's right, that Nata went to meet her husband.

Adrian and Andi remind her that he's planned the dinner party at the hotel where he first proposed marriage to Nata (and was only doing it for her fortune at the time, he omits!)  He says he cannot change the past, but is hoping for a much better future with them.  Nata says it isn't happening.  She cannot prevent the girls from seeing him; it's their right and their decision, but even if one day she does forgive him, she's never coming back to him.  She loves another man now and wants to start divorce proceedings.

Vulga notes that Simba is there hiding in the shadows.  He motions for her to get him out of there.  She empathizes with him to the point of trying to kiss away his tears and asks him to take her to a nearby motel and let her help him through his heartbreak.  He pushes her away. She lends him her phone again and says, this is where you'll find her.  It's definitely Adi's phone.  He tells Chente his wife is with him, at the hotel where he proposed to her twenty years ago.  The word "hotel" shocks him.  Nata takes the phone.  She apologizes and says she'll tell him all about it in the morning.  "--Tomorrow?????  You're spending the night there?"  "--Well it's outside the city a ways."  She repeats she'll tell him in the morning.  He tells her there's no need and hangs up.

Gustavo, back at the boarding house, tells Chole he doesn't want kids.  (Viewerville keeps screaming at the tv: haven't you ever taken a fertility test??? Why just figure Constanza says so she's fertile and you are not????) She throws him out of the boarding house and he heads for the local pub.

Finally, Chente gets a clue that Vulga must be in on this scheme to separate him from Nata.  Otherwise, how would she just happen to know Nata is with Adrian?  He becomes enraged and races away in the pickup, leaving Vulga to fend for herself.  Simba comes out of the shadows.  She allows him to take her to the motel nearby and purposely leaves her purse in the parking lot.

Regi tries shocking Adi with the fact that Chente's kid brother is her boyfriend.

After the vulgar deed with the likes of Simba (It's a good thing I ate a quite a while ago.  Just the thought of it makes me retch.) She tells Simba he's got to take her back to the meeting site.  She dropped her purse there.  Once they arrive and find the purse,  Vulga convinces him to give her a beating.  She'll lie that she was attacked and raped so Chente will feel guilty for leaving her alone out there in the middle of nowhere.

Chente enters the local pub and meets up with Tavo.  They commiserate.  Well, they both cry in each other's beers.  Chente is livid with rage and jealousy.

Adi takes her to their suite and opens a bottle of bubbly.  She refuses and chooses to sleep in her daughters' room.

The next morning, Chente is depressed and depressively hungover; Valentina finds Tavo asleep on his office couch and learns he's moved out of the boarding house.  There's been a parting of ways with Chole.

Nata tries explaining over the phone to Chente, but he won't listen to her, especially after hearing Adi yelling at her to come to breakfast.  He hangs up on her again.  Nata demands to be driven back home.

Teresa is putting on her makeup while Clod complains about her getting rid of all his new suits.  She tells him to get used to taking the bus now because she's going to sell the car as well.  He looks in his wallet and all his credit cards are missing.  She admits to taking those as well.  And, all that money he put into the bank, she reminds him, is hers.  Clod lies that the man hasn't given him back one red centavo.  She pulls out a bank document showing him her proof that Adi has returned her money. And, from now on, she is managing her own money; he doesn't spend a centavo without getting her ok first.  And, if he objects, he can leave anytime he chooses.

At the hospital, J2P2, aka JoseJose, shows Magos the report at the old folks' home he and Regi made together.  Magos is proud of him.  Jojo admits his feelings for Regi.

Nata and family have breakfast before leaving.  They discuss Jojo and his great values and desire to study and to get ahead in life.  That's fine with Adi then.  Perhaps he can use his influence to get Jojo a scholarship.

Chole races to the hospital that morning.  The doctor tells her that Vulga was beaten, stabbed and raped.  (Hey, that makes Simba suspect numero uno once they do the rape kit! Fool!!)

Once their daughters have left the table, Adrian makes another plea for forgiveness.  It was all Vero's doing; he'd never do this ever again!  Okay.  Prove it, but there will be no "part two" to their marriage.  She loves somebody else!

Chole speaks to Vulga in the hospital room.  She is totally overwhelmed (as are we in Viewerville) to see the mess that Simba has made of her beautiful face.

Thanks, Jardinera, for an outstanding recap of a very frustrating episode. The stupidity among the protagonistas is never ending.

Suddenly newly INDEPENDENT Natalia cannot think of a way to get back to the city? Why not ask Chente to come and get her? That would have solved the problem. Hire a car and have Tere pay at the other end? She was stupid to go with Adrian in the first place. Anyone at home in that noggin of hers?

Chente was a fool for taking Olga along with him and a bigger fool for leaving her out in the middle of nowhere. Nothing much going on in that noggin either.

Guess Chente and Natalia deserve each other.

No surprises from Olga.

Tavo needs to go get a sperm count test and see what is what for himself. If he ever did it before, Connie porbably controleled the flow of info.

The highlight was Tere letting deadbeat Claudio how things were going to be.

This is getting hard to watch, but watch I will!

Jardinera, thank you for the excellent recap.

I was only able to glance at the screen occasionally but your descriptive summary said everything we needed to know. Whether we wanted to or not! :(

The fact that greedy, grasping Andrea is aiding and abetting her father is no surprised. But, "Regi is convinced--not a good sign for the good guys" said it all. It looks like Adrian will just not be deterred, he plans on wearing everyone down with his relentlessness, mugging all the while.

It looks like everyone is mired in mud, Natalia being glued in place, unable to get away; Chente's inability to tell Olga off once and for all. The list is endless.

A real TN romance is when the lead couple gets together and stays together, in love and faith in each other (Pasion). Seeing Chente dissolve in a torrent of tears made me want to slap him and tell him to snap out of it. Of course he will believe Olga, another mess on the periphery.

"The highlight was Tere letting deadbeat Claudio how things were going to be". Absolutely Jarifa. Now she needs to install a bit of the tiger into her daughter.

Thank you so much Jardinera. This was terrific.

Judy, lots of anguish last night it seems. Hoping your day is calming and restful. Sending you many hugs.

Diana

Jardinera, thank you for another wonderful reporting of a frustrating episode. I am glad that I couldn't wait change this one.

A bright spot was Tere telling Claudio off. Yay..go, girl, go.

Yikes ...Olga is so demented that she has Simba beat her up . This girl is gone off her rocker.

Diana, I agree . I loved Pasion because the leading couple were smart and stayed devoted to each other despite the evil ones trying to pull them apart . What a spectacular cast , too!!! And Fernando as Captain Rick the pirate !!!! Squee. We all had pirate names for that wild ride.

Jardinera, thank you for taking a virtual bullet for the patio, and watching and recapping this episode.

For me, this telenovela is still fun, but...
It never was one that I thought would be great watching, but it did show some promise early on. That was a while ago, and since then it has become very annoying and frustrating. But it has made me think, just which TN was really great, or at least exceptionally good? I can't think of one, the one that comes closest for me is Y mañana será otro día, which I thought was underrated.

It wasn't great, but I did think it was very good. I know not everyone shares this opinion. It was brought down a bit, I think, by adhering too much to telenovela standards: good guys, bad guys; bad guys get their way a lot; in the end love triumphs and bad guys get their rather nasty and heavy anvils. Meh.

It did try to skirt these conventions a bit and try some extraordinary, for a TN, visuals, etc. So, overall good, not great.

Anyway, I'm still enjoying MFEA, but I don't take it very seriously at all. And even then I sometimes have to stop myself from yelling at the screen because of a character's idiocy. This is the telenovela format again. There have to be relapses all along to keep the story long enough, and side stories too. Why longer stories are so desirable I'm not sure. Like the old serials and their cliffhangers, I suppose. Not selling popcorn now, but commercial time.

Anyway, just venting a bit. Still in it for the Spanish and the eye candy. I could use some more eye candy though.

Ah... I never saw Pasión, can't comment.

Andy

Hi everyone.

Maybe you all are just a lot more used to these things than I am (this IS the first telenovela that I am following with you all, that I have felt comfortable enough contributing to (or, as I LOVE that you all say...) "joining you on the patio" but, I really feel with this episode, it jumped a whole other length in terms of villainy. Maybe you all are more used to this, but I myself cannot diminish the following:

It is one thing (and despicable) to CRY rape... If I am not mistaken, Olga is willing to use the money Veronica now sent her to kill Natalia to SIMULATE a violent rape.
She played Simba like a fine violin, and I love how the production focused on her deliberately leaving her bag behind, so she could more easily convince Simba to bring her back to the scene-of-her(inevitable)-crime, so that we viewers would not have ANY doubt that, YES, this is exactly what the bitch has had planned.

I have never known ANY story ANYWHERE where, to be able to facilitate an evil lie, the villainess is PAYING to be not just brutally BEATEN, but also STABBED (she TOLD Sinba what she wanted done to her, and even HE thought she was crazy!!!) and it was only AFTER she realized her mastery of manipulation of him (to get him to have sex with her, so she can claim rape) that he became- for I think, totally UNDERSTANDABLE various reasons- willing to do whatever she wanted, just so he could be rid of her (he even said, did he not, that he did not want to have ANYTHING more to do with her.... Her response, I believe, was along the lines of "Whatever..."

But, I am half-Brazilian, 1/4 Colombian, 1/4 Mexican who has been a landed Immigrant here in America for lover 20 years. And my point is that I GREW UP on all of this!!! But I can not remember a novela where a villain has stopped so low- she TOLD Simba once she realized her plans to KILL Natalia were In the gutter, that if he wanted to get paid, he HAD to BEAT her, and STAB her (this after she got what she wanted from him sexually... which was her own plan entirely, so I am thinking rape or sexual manipulation is at play here...). And now, I be willing to BET that she (with Adrian's help???) will be exploiting this to the FULLEST.

My only HOPE (perversely), lie in the only acknowledged psychopathic murderer here- Veronica.

It became obvious after their last discussion that Veronica has no interest whether or not Olga and Chente get the "happily ever after" Olga is seemingly willing to do ANYTHING to attain....

Veronica just does not like to lose, or be second-best. Before, I was WONDERING where the characters motivation came from, in terms of her HATRED of Natalia but now, thanks to these conversations with Olga, I think the character is making more sense: Veronica is a despot, pure and simple. She is completely devoid of human feeling, and flocks to anything and anyone that feeds her notion that she is an absolute Goddess.

When she first started sleeping with her best friends incredible husband, it was a victory to her. When she stole said friends husband, it became more so. When she discovered that said husband might STILL be preferring his lovely wife over HER... well, that turned Natalia into Public Enemy Number 1, and Adrian as "Sonething Else That Must Be Destroyed If It Can't Be Mine".

Enter Olga....

(Sorry, the top comment was mine... just too long to post, apparently. I am still getting used to this! :-/ )

Anyway, I wanted to say that I find this really fascinating, actually! My dream is that Veronica, upon realizing that Olga used Veronica's money NOT to kill Natalia, but just to further an evil scheme so she can wind up with Natalia's boyfriend... will realise Olga is more trouble than she is worth and will be invited for a glass of wine like Tanya was... and will wind up as the fertilizer for Veronica's roses that she lamented Tania could not be (killing far from home being SUCH an inconvenience!!!).

Anyway, whatever the case, I am counting the hours until the next Capitulo. AND .... I think Michelle Gonzalez is doing an INCREDIBLE job here as the evil Olga. This episode requires EVERYTHING from the actress and, as far as I am concerned- she brought it in spades.

Greetings from Santa Fe, everybody!

OT.Andy , Pasion starred Sussna,Gonzalez and Fernando Colunga . They were fantastic , and there were many great supporting actors and actresses in this show .It was historical fiction....argghh...pirates.

I also enjoyed my very first trip down the rabbit hole of Telenovelas..Alborado .Then, I watched another fav....Amor Real. These are all historical dramas starring Fernando Colunga. You might notice a pattern here . We used to call Fernando TBLMOE here at caray.

Thanks, Jardinera. The only thing to like in this episode was Claudio realizing Teresa now has the upper hand. And I really think the reason he told Chente Natalia was going back to Adrian was because that’s what he wants. He wants his luxurious lifestyle back.

Thanks for pointing out the DNA in a rape case. Let’s hope that’s done. If Simba gets arrested he will tell all.

And why didn’t Tavo tell the truth to Chole. I’m sure she would have stayed with him. But I guess he’s thinking of how Connie blamed him for all those years. And yes, he needs to get tested. I’m hoping Teresa will intervene and tell Chole the truth.

Olga is one crazy lady. If she can’t have him she’ll make sure he’s miserable for the rest of his life. Not sure why she’s no longer planning to kill Natalia but yes, she has a lot to fear from Veronica.
Liz

Hi there me peeps. Thanks for stopping and dropping!! Olga is sick in the head. Chente is weaker than we thought. Tavo needs a fertility test but hasn’t entered the 21st century I suppose. Andrea needs her backside tanned. Very need a prison term for veinte años. Connie needs a man to satisfy her and Samoa needs her Choochoo. Phewy!! —Jardinera654

I/TSpeaking of FC, he is heading the cast for a short Telemundo series—Jardinera654

OT...Jardinera, do you know the title of the show FC will be in o Telemundo? p.s Have you watched " Magnificent Century?" Burak is amazing ...even better than he is in "Kurulus" and " Calikuso"
