Mi Fortuna #92, 7/6/22: A Death And A Birth

So, while Fernanda discovers Veronica and Adrian at the restaurant, Natalia jimmies the lock to Constanza's bathroom door. Once it's open, she finds Connie passed out with pills spilled onto the floor next to her.

Outside the manse, Gustavo drives up in a rage; he's waving a pistol but Vicente has followed him and grapples with Tavo for possession of it.  Tavo gets away.  They both race into the house just as Nata races down the stairs, screaming in a panic over Connie's attempted suicide.

Mario and Valentina have a respectable and very calm conversation.  He is puzzled by her unexpected makeover.  (--nothing a designer dress, real gold earrings, a nice makeup job, and a top-notch haircut wouldn't resolve.  When did Kimberly get this good?)   She asks him to forgive her temper tantrums.  They kiss and make up.  FF?>>FF>>

Fernanda gives Adi and Vero a piece of her mind.  Vero leaves.  Adi tries explaining.  Fer tells him not to waste her time.  She's seen his true self this evening.  "--You'll never change.  You're still a shameless liar."  She exits stage left.

At Vero's, Juanita gives the tied-up Olga a glass of water which Olga immediately and defiantly spits back at her.  Vero arrives home.  She goes into the bedroom that La Vulga is being held in.  Vero explains how she found her in a small clinic in the outback somewhere and brought her there.  She also gives Olga the bad news: she's been missing for two months.  Chente has moved on with his life.

Elias and Samia arrive.  Elias plays dumbfounded and says he'll handle everything for Nata and keep them all up to date.  The others are all wandering around useless as chickens with their heads cut off.

Vulga whimpers about her rape and beating.  Vero informs her coldly that she lost the baby.

Samia gets the "news" from Eli that Conz has died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Teresa gets the dire news that Connie committed suicide.  A mother's angst and anguish is felt by all.....

In a back room somewhere else in the city, Elias pays off the doctor he hired to bring Conz back to consciousness.  Eli congratulates her for her acting skills and shows her the casket.  This will be the worst of it, he warns her.

The next morning Chente gets an unexpected phone call.  "--Chente?"  It's Vulga.  She is sweetly trying to explain why she didn't make it to the church.  All he does is angrily tell her never to approach his son again or she'll be sorry.  Vero walks in and hangs up the phone immediately while she's in mid-sentence.

At Adrian's manse, he, Nata, and Regi are attending the wake at the funeral home.  They determine with Omar not to give Andrea the news this close to her due date; it could really wreck things for Andi and the baby.

Vero warns Olga that her life is in danger and they agreed that nobody was to know she was alive.  "--If Adrian learns that you're alive he will kill you!"

Elias rushes Conz into a dress and into the coffin for a rush trip to the casket viewing at the funeral home.  The doctor gives her a sedative that brings her pulse to nearly imperceptible.

Fer arrives at the funeral home and Nata with Adi right after.  Teresa loses it emotionally once she sees Nata there.

Back at Chente's, he informs Juanga that Vulga has resurfaced and called him.  Bemji, at all costs has got to be watched over, especially while the rest of them go to the funeral.

Vero shows up to the funeral home.  Nata and she have a bit of a heart-to-heart.  They agree on wanting to get even with Adi for the tricks he's played on both of them.  They will be in touch.  Chente arrives with Magos; he hugs Nata.  Adi comes over and threatens him if he comes near his wife again.  Tere continues to wail over Connie's casket.

Andi's water breaks and Omi races her off to the hospital.  He finds time eventually to notify Nata and Adi.  They race off to the hospital.  During our fill of birthing scenes, Omi faints and falls to the floor.  The nurses and doc ignore him and the baby arrives.  FF>>FF>>

Vulga has managed to leave Vero's, get dressed and then find Juanga and Benji at the playground near their home.

Mario locates Nata the next day and informs her that the police were right about Elias and Adrian.  She wants to get out of this dangerous spy game.  They determine they need to get into Adi's office safe.  All the conclusive proof must be in it.

Across town, Chente leaves Benji at school.  Olga surprises him with a whimpering "--Chente, my love!"  He turns around to face her with eyes a-blazin'.  She is totally delusional as he races off down the street and she follows at his heels like a spurned dog.  "--How dare you show up here after what you've done???  You have no soul, Olga!  There's not a piece of goodness in your heart!"  She tells him to hold up so she can explain why she never came.  "--You have no idea how much I detest you!  Even God would not forgive you!"  She tells him then about the kidnapping and rape.  He tells her it's just another one of her lies.  "--This time I am not lying to you!"  "--THIS time you are not???" She tells him about the clinic and that because of her rapists she lost "our baby."  "--At this point, I don't even believe you were ever pregnant!"

La Vulga whines that she doesn't deserve his scorn after all she suffered.  "--And my son?  What did he suffer, huh?"  She looks shocked to hear this.  She once again plays the innocent card and pretends not to know what he's talking about.   "--I am aware of it all!  All of it, Olga! The abuse, the mistreatment, the emotional hell you made him suffer through since the death of his mother!  I won't allow you to come near my family or my son ever again!!"

Great work, Jardinera. We are now in the home stretch. The desperation of the evil ones is starting to peak.

I can't believe that Vulga still thinks she can get Chente. When I think of all her lies and manipulations and the video evidence of her abuse of Benjamin only a lobotomy would make any man want her. What I am still wondering is whether she is mentally ill or not. My guess is that she is not sufficiently over that line because she is still capable of premeditated actions.

Constanza is more than over that line; she does not know how to protect herself and has allowed her desperation to take over any judgement capability.

Chente needed to be the voice of reason to prevent Tavo from killing Constanza and messing up his own future and to let us know that he does have some little grey cells.

More later. I hate typing on my phone.

Jardinera, thanks so much for another excellent recap.

Will we be lucky enough for Connie to really be dead in her casket? I so hope so.

What a pleasure seeing Olga get slapped once again!

I so loved that Chente FINALLY told Olga where to get off. She was so surprised to find out about the recording and that he now thinks her soul is rotten and that she disgusts him.

Will Natalia take Vero's offer?

Jardinera, great work, and thank you!

Well, influenced by Susanlynn's sidebar (top bar?) comment, “Okay, here we go with lots of lying, crying, and dying...", I'm going to skip to the really important stuff.

Valentina looked hot! Hot, hot, hot! It's about time   :-)

Anyway, any of us who had doubts about Val and Mario as a couple, abandon all hope of a rescue. Unless Mario gets his fool self shot by the malhechores, he and Valentina are signed, sealed, and almost delivered.

I am surprised a bit that Constanza is still alive. Could Elías have been honest with her? Nah, we'll see what he's up to very soon.

Omar (I almost called him Brandon, which is his role in another novela I'm watching) fainting during the delivery is an old bit, but still works OK. He bounced right back. And now we have another Haddad in the world. I know Sammie will be thrilled, and I don't so much care about Elías.

Is Sammie Girl's wardrobe consultant a Drag Queen?

Evil doers got to do evil, so I am checking my Caray beanie in preparation for tonight and until The End.

Andy

So the Haddads make life hell for Natalia and family (eviction, Omar's "abandonment" of Andrea, sexual harassment, public humiliation, etc, etc, etc) and they all meekly step back and let him take over making the arrangements for Constanza - riding in the ambulance, selecting a coffin, arranging a viewing, immediate cremation, etc - really? Since Adrian is supposedly trying to get his family back, why didn't he do it? Why didn't Natalia who is such a "strong " woman? Why didn't Teresa? Why didn't Tavo, who, although now divorced, was married to her for over 20 years?

I know, I know - the tn plot, but geez!

Jardinera, thanks for giving us every gruesome detail as these villains drag us to the end kicking and screaming .

Olga is recuperating in the loving care of Juanita and Vero....that's an awful introductory anvil right there, and I am quite sure that it's only going to be the down elevator for our Olgag from now on. Adios .

Meanwhile, so logical that Con's family is allowing Elias Smith full control of Con's funeral as he lifts her into the casket quite alive in her white bridal outfit ...so fitting for her pure heart. Yikes .
Will Tavo ,who recently had a gun and was searching for Con , attend the funeral? Maybe not . Did I mention ...yikes???? But ...wow....wasn't Teresa wailing and weeping ! Did anyone else think of Snow White and the 7 Dwarves when Teresa was gazing at Con in the casket ? No Prince to kiss Con awake though.

I've been in labour three times , but actresses simulating labor pains always gets me . I don't think I've ever heard any actress scream so convincingly as Andrea . ouch . I hope the actress didn't actually hurt something . I had to fast forward ....yikes .

Shout out to Ben Casey ..this episode covered it all...." Man, wonan, birth, death, infinity " ...yikes .

On a brighter note, Chente has remodeled despite everyone being at the edge of a cliff at the moment.

Jardinera, thank you for an excellent recap of yet another disturbing, unsettling episode.

"The doctor gives her a sedative that brings her pulse to nearly imperceptible" was only one instance where you captured the drama perfectly.

Andy, I think Conza's fate is still very much up in the air. I noticed a second syringe on the side of Conza's coffin. Is it to administer a final, fatal dose or is it to revive her like Lazarus? Even Elias cannot devise any sort of plan to have her alive and taking care of any flesh and blood child. Wake already held, why not send her into the great beyond as everyone thinks she is already there?

Yes, there was no mistaking Chente's anger and revulsion toward Olga. About time, right Jarifa? That recording was unexpected. Still, she vwill never go away with her tail between her legs. I think she is pure evil Urban. It seems there is no more fight as it's a losing battle. Will she now turn her anger toward poor Benja??

Anon, you asked some good questions as to why no one in the immediate family made the arrangements. It is telenovela rationale but in this instance, Nat seemed too distressed and Tere, even more so. How convenient that Elias was able to get the preparations and doctor ready. Adrian didn't give a damn so wouldn't have made arrangements under any circumstances.

"Olga is recuperating in the loving care of Juanita and Vero....that's an awful introductory anvil right there, and I am quite sure that it's only going to be the down elevator for our Olgag from now on". Susanlynn, that leaves nothing to add!!

Judy, I'm sure tonight will be another crazy ride. Hold on and have a strong beverage available.

Jardinera, thank you. Just great.

Diana

Awesome work, Jardinera. Anyone not watching would be able to size up these characters in a hot minute through your prose.

Connie played her part well. But I guess she didn't have to act since she is BS CrayCray.

All the other patients in Olga's old coma ward should be so lucky as to have Juanita's smackdown care. Olga is happily bounding through the streets of the barrio without even as much as a cane.

Thanks so much, Jardinera, that was excellent. Why watch the show!
Susanlynn, the labor really got to me too. I could almost feel the pain, or the memories of the pain.

Not sure why Olga thought Chente would want to marry her with no baby! Hope she and the others get what’s coming to them. And hope Natalia doesn’t decide to work with Veronica. She’d be crazy to trust her.

Looks like Elias is really going to trust Connie with his grandson. It’s awful that she’s putting her family through so much grief.

Just a few more episodes. I was so ready for it to end but I’m going to miss it. Until I get involved in another!

Liz

Andy, Sami could use some better styling. They could start with that slicked back look.
