Repeat of Mari telling Elisa how much she wanted to fight for Jesus until she learned things that really hurt her and Elisa telling her she should fight for true love which gives her strength and that kind of love can never be forgotten.
Carloca made some sort of cake for Jesus which she can finally give to him now that the problems with Domi are resolved. She tells him he shouldn’t have gone after Iker after everything he’s been through, it was crazy. He needs to rest. Jesus tells her they can’t go to the Finca today either, today is Adrian’s exam and he wants to be there to support him. Carloca agrees easily enough, she’ll go too! But tomorrow, no matter what they will head to the Finca.
Lupe is taking more Pozole orders over the phone and teaching her new clients how to pay using an app. Nice, product placement!! LOL
Mari and Elisa continue to talk about Jesus without Elisa knowing it’s her son they are discussing. Mari thinks she might be being selfish with Jesus, she just wants him with her but he’s got something more important to do. Elisa is sure if they fight for each other when the time is right, they will end up together – only death can stop true love. Mari asks if Elisa is a widow, and she tells Mari she’s lost everything she once loved and the pain nearly killed her. She felt like the walking dead but God didn’t take her and now she has hope she will recover some of what she lost and she’s going to fight for it because she’s a warrior too!
Augi and Fede talk about Iker, Augi does want Iker out because he feels like it’s too dangerous to keep him locked up because he will talk. Fede thinks it’s already too late because he’s been informed a judge is about to sign a search warrant for Augi’s office (or whole home?) Augi says to let them serve the warrant, they need to avoid looking suspicious. And in the meantime, they need to get everything incriminating out of the house, ASAP! Fede says he knows a safe place to hide things that can’t be traced back to Augi. Augi leaves Fede in charge of everything and heads to the Finca.
Bertie brings Lupe pretty flowers. He gives them to her with 4,000 words as usual, I can’t help but think that listening to him must be exhausting. They talk about everything going well around them and Bertie wants to talk about love and romance but Lupe doesn’t quite get it or take the hint and her mind is on finding Mari instead and how Mica must be the one helping her, since she hasn’t been showing her face around there lately. Lupe takes off to confront Mica leaving Bertie in charge of the restaurant.
Victoriana and Augi are arguing because he wants to take off and not tell her where. She tries to point out with everything going on he should be at home but Augi only cares about Augi and he takes off anyway. If he’d known Miss Guadalupe Garcia was in his kitchen he might have stayed, but he didn’t know of course. Lupe tries to find out where Mari is from Mica but Mica claims she has no idea where Mari is and she’s busy enough with all the troubles in this house. Mica asks what’s up with Mari and just as Lupe is explaining the wicked witch enters the kitchen. Vicky goes off on Lupe of course, but Vicky is unintentionally helpful as she mentions Mariluz was in the house last week. Vic does her best to rant and rave but Lupe ignores her completely (LOL) as it dawns on her it must have been Augi who helped Mariluz. She takes off leaving Vicky seething.
Selena gets a visit from Fede (oh no, she knows Fede!!!) He wants her to guard whatever it is he’s hiding for a couple of days. Selena asks what it is but Fede tells her not to ask questions. Fede gets friendly next and I would say these two are in cahoots but Selena looks more scared than interested and I’m guessing she’s not exactly a willing participant, but it does appear Selena’s seduction of Sam was ordered by Fede as he next asks how things are going in that arena. Selena tries to demur but Fede says he took her out of hell and he can send her right back. She begs him not to and he tells her then to remember her place! Something is up with those Guerreros and Selena is going to find out what!!
Augi arrives at the Finca to the panic of his employees who were not expecting him. He finds out about the near burning of the Finca and how Mariluz talked them out of it. Augi is wondering if Mari is in the big house but his employee tells him she preferred to stay in the cabin where her grandma used to live and she’s studying up a storm. Augi is happy to hear it and a car arrives unexpectedly. His men draw their guns but it’s just Lupe. She begs Augi not to kill her but he’s just like, calm down!
All the Guerreros and Valero go to watch and wait as Adrian takes his exam. They wish him luck and Jesus and Carloca even walk into the building with him. Selena goes to see Sam at the shop but no one is there because they are with Adrian. She calls and he tells her as much. Domi sees Selena from her house and looks a little suspicious but ends up closing the window and doing nothing.
Lupe throws a fit about Augi almost killing her and he tells her she is exaggerating. He offers her water and she can’t be bought off with some stupid water. She needs something stronger! Augi apologizes again and asks how could he know it was her? This is such a surprise! Lupe says she came looking for Mariluz but when she says Mari didn’t tell her she was there, Augi tells her she isn’t so I’m guessing Mari asked him to keep it a secret. Augi assures her Mari is nowhere in the house and Lupe is welcome to search every inch of it. She takes him up on it and he looks very amused, saying ‘Welcome, my love!’ after she’s out of earshot.
Jesus gives Adrian more last-minute tips to focus and Adrian says he won’t let him down, he’s like a father to him. Just before Adrian turns his phone off in the exam, he gets a text from Emma saying he always accomplishes what he sets his mind to and he’s going to do great. He turns off his phone and the test starts.
Emma and her crew arrive to see Emma’s ex friends bring stuck up and annoying. Belen gets sick and Emma tries to help her but Belen says she can’t go on because she’s just started her period and has cramps – she’s also apparently very nauseous from the sound of it.
Augi goes to warn Mari that her mom is there and asks her to tell him whether or not she wants her mom to know she’s there and she says no. If Lupe knew she’d force her to leave and she isn’t ready for that. She wants to stay longer and study, this test is very important for her career. Augi says no problem, just stay in here and don’t come out for anything until Modesta comes to tell you your mom has left. Mari agrees. Augi leaves and Mari locks the door. She prays for forgiveness for hiding from her mom but she can’t go back yet; she’s not ready to see Jesus.
Lupe looks for Mari and appears to be remembering better times when Augi comes in and gives her the tequila she requested. He tells her he wants to take advantage of the fact that fate has brought them together again, alone, and make the most of it. He wants to recover the passion they once had and he can’t lose her again. Lupe doesn’t look appalled but she should. Augi goes to kiss her and we learn this is a dream. Augi comes in for real this time and tells Lupe it’s almost time to eat. Lupe wants to leave but Augi says it’s too late and dangerous for her to leave or take a taxi. He says the house is big and she knows it. She says of course she knows all about this house, and Augi almost succeeds but Lupe ends up calling a taxi after all.
Domi comes downstairs and is dismayed to see Vicky because she thought she went to Emma’s dance competition. Vicky says no way, it’s too boring. Domi says the only reason she didn’t go is she thought Vicky was going but Vicky doesn’t think Emma will even notice they aren’t there. This lovely conversation is interrupted by Mica coming in causing a full-on scandal because the police are at the door. Fede comes out calmly and says he’ll answer the door (You would think at least Augi could have given Vic or Domi a heads up). Vicky tries to avoid opening and letting the search happen but Fede says to let him handle it. Fede stands calmly by while Vicky chases the cops around her house saying, no not in there.
Meanwhile, Augi enjoys his dinner with a mostly ignoring him Lupe who apparently can’t get a cab. Augi tells her she’s obviously staying the might, just call nanna and let her know. Lupe thinks everything is always easy for Augi but then his phone rings and it’s Vicky just to prove Lupe wrong. At first, Augi wasn’t going to answer but Lupe goads him into it.
Vicky is throwing a drama queen sized fit about the police being all over her house and searching everything and I still say Augi should have made sure she wasn’t home for this! But he just tells her to calm down and seems annoyed by having to deal with her and ultimately more or less hangs up on her.
Adrian’s exam went well and he answered all the questions. Adrian asks Jesus if he thinks it would be okay if he goes to see Emma at the dance competition. Jesus thinks there’s a possibility that Augi had nothing to do with what happened to his mom and it could have happened after she left the Finca. Adrian thinks he may have been too hard on Emma.
At the competition, Emma is playing nursemaid to Belen’s cramps and she tries to give her some OJ and pain killers. Belen looks at her like she’s offering her cocaine or something and Emma tells her she isn’t trying to drug her it’s just a pill for her cramps, it will make her feel better. Belen finally takes it.
Jesus and Damian talk about Adrian and Emma and Jesus admits he basically made up the whole idea that maybe Augi wasn’t to blame for what happened to Aunt Emilia. Jesus doesn’t know but he thinks it will be nearly impossible to find out what happened to their aunt so it’s pointless for Adrian to suffer over something they will likely never know the truth of.
The dance competition goes well and Emma’s group wins. Adrian apologizes to Em and tells her he wants to be with her. She seems standoffish at first but he reminds her of their vow to always be together and that melts her. They kiss.
Damian lets himself into Domi’s room again and brings her phone. Domi lets him know she told her family that they are together. Damian hopes he didn’t mess up too much taking her like that but he would do anything for her. Things get very very passionate between the two, but Domi stops before things go too far. She’s not ready yet and she apologizes. Damian says she has nothing to apologize for he lost his head but he would never ask her to do anything she’s not ready for. Sam also was looking at the house from out on the street, not sure if he actually saw them making out or just knows Damian is there, but he runs off.
Sam runs to Selena. Sam is upset and doesn’t say why, he says he has a lot of problems and doesn’t elaborate. Selena tells him to calm down and she isn’t asking him for any explanations. Sam asks if he can stay with her this night and she says yes. He says but not just tonight, every night; will you marry me!???!!! (LOL) Selena looks like she either wants to laugh or cry but she it’s a tear running down her face as she just hugs him.
Augi is back and Fede tells him that the police found nothing. He will get the papers back from their secure location in a bit. Oh, and Iker, is getting out on bail tomorrow. Perfect, Augi says, make sure everything is set up so he gets his medicine!
Elisa is talking to her friend Santiago about going back to the Finca. She’s sure she’s about to find a clue and he’s sure she’s a lamb in the lion’s den.
Carloca and Jesus arrive at the Finca and she asks if he’s ready to be all hers. Little does she know Mari is right there to share his attention once again. But for now, Mari’s still locked up in Grandma’s room studying, imagining her future career and going through Grandma’s old stuff. She finds pics of momma when she was young and her and Lisandro as kids.
Carloca shows Jesus around and he too is overcome by memories. Carloca asks if he likes the place and he says it’s beautiful. Carloca has a surprise for Jesus and it’s a kiss. Which Mari witnesses as she is now out and about with her books instead of locked in a room.
¡Hola, Patio!
Thanks Adriana & Darcy. Your tireless work on this little show is mad appreciated. Please take all the breaks you need. I will continue to post notes and observations and try to really help out on Wednesdays and Fridays. My notes may post late, but I hope to further the discussion and Patio fodder.
Mariluz & Elisa’s exchange at the top of the hour was basically an explanation of the show’s title and a PSA for female empowerment. They all but pinky promised not to let anyone break their big, warrior hearts.
LOL @ Villalba’s patented 4K word soliloquies and nonsense.
As you know, I can’t help but track Augi’s hair inconsistencies. He’s mid-pomp when talking to Fede about the Iker sitch. The full pomp comes when he tells Mommy Dearest he’s leaving and offers no other information. The patio knows the finca will soon be overrun with major cast members.
I had joked about our show becoming Corazón Cliche, so I have to give them credit for the twist I did not see coming. Who would have thunk Selena was in cahoots with Fede? Wow.
I do not like the nickname “Sele” for Selena. When diablos did that start? Valero and Damián tease Sam that Sele is finally going to cook that rice (clearly a euphemism). Sam innocently answers that “Sele” didn’t mention any rice.
Carloca was surprisingly sweet/sane during all Adrián’s academia scenes.
Capítula 41 shocked me again as I fell for the whole dream sequence with Lupe & Augi. I’m mad at myself. Should have known better. Likable Guadaloopy should be everyone’s red flag.
Meanwhile, are we to believe that Emma’s saving the day with Midol and Pedialyte will lead to redemption and BFF status for Belén. The patio wore an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot beanie!
Damián and Domi heated up the screen with some long-awaited passion. Even though they eventually slowed their rolls, this was the catalyst for Sam to bolt to Selena with misplaced matrimonial intentions.
The finca population increases, and the body count may need to be adjusted with Iker’s release. Can’t wait to see where they take us tomorrow. Have a great week!
Thanks ladies! It's been a long day full of IT issues at work and I didn't have time to check in but I enjoyed reading your comments.
O.S., I was sort of shocked by the dream sequence, I could tell it was a dream but I expected it to be Augi's dream not Guadaloopy's!!! How could she still be dreaming about him knowing what sort of person he is? It is so crazy to me!!
I really hope the whole cramps thing does lead to magical BFFs. Belen has done nothing to earn Emma's friendship and that would also be like Emma is earning Belen's friendship which is backwards. Belen needs to be the one to apologize - a LOT - if those two are ever going to be friends.
SpanProf, I kind of like the twist with Selena. She definitely doesn't want to be where ever it is Fede is placing her. I like the actress and I'm looking forward to see what she does with a meatier story. Hopefully, she'll get one to work with.
Okay, time to post today's recap.
Back to Mari seeing Jesus and Carloca kissing and reacting as if she witnessed their wedding or something. Jesus pulls away without seeing Mari and claims to be a little tired. He and Carloca go inside to look at the house and rest.
Vicky goes on and on about how nice it is to be home without Carloca there. Domi is not amused and tells mommy to stop talking about Carloca. She even defends the idea that Car-is-not-loca. They decided to stop fighting but Domi can’t resist saying if any of them experienced what Carloca lived through they’d be the same.
More of Mari crying as if the world is ending… I want to have sympathy I really do, but it doesn’t seem like a new problem. It’s the same today as it has been from the beginning. She starts to pack up.
Damian is off to scale his favorite wall. He better hope Vicky leaves before he gets up to Domi’s room, both so he doesn’t get caught and because I am tired of her already. She’s still there though and Domi is trying to explain to how to care about other people, like woman who are in jail but don’t belong there. Domi has an idea to present to the foundation but Vicky says ‘NO Way!!!’ How would that make us look?
Mari is leaving and leaves the paperwork with Modesta for the project she’s proposing with the ranchers. She will give it to them and they can contact Mari if they are in. Modesta is surprised Mari is leaving today but she guesses right that Mari wants to avoid Caloca and her boyfriend. Speaking of, Carloca arrives asking for tea and then can’t drink it because it’s too hot. She complains about the smell of the perfectly normal food cooking in the kitchen and then faints. Mari helps Modesta get Carloca to a chair but then leaves before she awakens… (the Carloca pregnancy watch has officially began)
Mari takes up her bags and leaves Jesus’s scapulary. Jesus takes Carloca to lie down and Mari once again sees through the window as Jesus and Carloca are kissing. But Jesus feels a little dizzy too and they decide they both need some sleep, in order to feel better. Carloca drops off in her room and dizzy Jesus makes it slowly toward his.
Sami is upset because Selena was smart enough to tell him no. She assures him that she isn’t rejecting him, he is just getting ahead of himself. And getting married, will not magically solve his Domenica problem; it doesn’t work that way. Sam admits that is his issue and he hoped getting married would get Domi out of his head and his heart. Selena tells him first love is powerful and nothing changes it until you get to the point where you realize that person who didn’t feel the same about you just isn’t worth it. Sam wants to know how long it will be before that happens because he can’t take anymore.
Vicky wants Domi to promise she will think about leaving Damian since it’s just a mechanic. Domi says there isn’t anything to think about but she doesn’t want to fight. Vic wants to see all the newspapers loudly declaring Domi’s innocence!! She takes off….and Damian comes out of hiding. Domi is concerned he heard her mom talking about him but he claims he only heard the topic about people wrongfully convicted. He has lots of ideas for how to help her with that, there are so many people wrongfully incarcerated. But first, he wants to greet his girlfriend as she deserves. They start kissing and Vicky comes in throwing a fit as if she caught them naked instead of merely kissing. It’s actually pretty funny how dramatic she was.
Selena is still giving Sam an emotional pep talk and she tells him hard as it is he just has to wait for that day to come. And when he comes to that day, if Sam proposes again she promises she’ll say yes! Sam looks a little excited about the possibility and Selena asks him to be her boyfriend. Selena goes to change after exchanging a few kisses. Sam is left alone fingering the lock on the mystery briefcase with no idea as to what is almost in his possession.
Renata tries to put the moves on Rodrigo – big shock – but Rodrigo is still determined to get Emma and not in the mood for anything or anyone else. Emma on the other hand, is happily back with Adrian talking about the test and he feels like it went well. He thinks it was able to answer everything and feels confident that it went well.
Vicky is still making a scene about Damian being in her house and letting himself in throw the window. She orders him out before she calls the police! And I kind of get the window thing, but she’s acting as if Domi is fifteen years old instead of a full grown adult. Augi comes in and gives Damian the ‘what are you doing here?’ Vicky goes off again about Damian being caught in Domi’s room and on her bed but Domi insists they were doing nothing wrong; they’re dating! Augi reacts as if he never heard this before even though we all have and says nothing doing, Damian is to get out of their house.
Mari is getting herself and her stuff out of the Finca and apparently Jesus is not resting after all. He’s going through the study and he finds a file indicating something was wrong with the quality of some sort of product or crop that was tested in the lab – please fill in more details if you can my Spanish chemistry vocab is severely lacking. He also finds a knife like the one his dad has, this one is engraved VP – Victoriana Penavler (or something like that is what Jesus guessed, Vicky’s maiden name?)
Emma and Adrian talk about how the party she was supposedly wasted at is ruining her social life and she doesn’t understand because she only drank water that night, she swears. Adrian listens and says her story sounds similar to one of the guys in one of the books he read. It was The Count of Monte Cristo. He lends Emma the book to read. Mica calls and warns Emma, mom is on a tare and she better get home. Emma rushes off.
Jesus comes in just in time to hear Modesta confirm that all of Mariluz’s bags are packed in the car. Upon learning that Mari is there, Jesus runs out before Modesta can even finish her sentence.
Emma shows up to support Domi and she tells her parents to stop treating her like a child. She is an adult and can decide on her own who she will and won’t fall in love with, they can stay out of it! Especially mom. Domi leaves the room and Emma and Mica follow. Vic starts in on Augi but he says to shut up and save it for Domi so she’ll understand how things are.
Jesus goes and commandeers a horse so he can take off after Mariluz. Isn’t it romantic? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. But I guess Mari was waiting for a bus not being driven. She runs into Elisa first and they say goodbye to each other. Each wishing the other everything they are looking for and lots of love. They hug tightly and Elisa blesses her. The bus comes and Jesus is still riding up. Santiago is with Elisa and they discuss how Mari was Lisardo’s first love and Elisa doesn’t even know her name.
Jesus misses the bus and also misses his mommy, as the crowd gives him directions and he rides by right behind her. Mari remembers back to being a young girl sad to leave the Finca and Lisardo. Oh, Jesus did catch up to bus and he asks Mari to get out and talk to him which she does. He kisses her and she slaps him! He wants to know why she left him and she says she wasn’t going to stick around and watch him kiss Carloca. We’ve heard this song before same verse and chorus. Jesus loves Mari but he has a mission…. blah blah blah
Lupe and Conchita are preparing more food for their now booming business and Conchita is trying to get Lupe to see the truth of how Bertie feels for her but Lupe is determined to keep him in the friend zone, she’s too old for such things. Conchita suggests it might really be because Lupe is still holding a torch for Augusto but before Lupe can get too far in denying that one some dude shows up to make sure all Lupe’s papers are in order for her new outdoor café. Lupe of course, doesn’t have any papers and her business is suspended. Lupe calls Vicky to get her cooperation to get the business permits but of course Vicky isn’t going to help Lupe with anything.
Emma and Domenica talk about how brave Domi is to admit she’s with Damian, but Domi doesn’t see it as brave just a matter of fact. She’s in love with Damian, it is what it is and it’s not going to change anytime soon! Period. Emma hopes Domi taking a stand will eventually make it easier to declare her relationship with Adrian and their bonding is interrupted by noises from outside. Yep, someone is having bars installed on Domi’s window to keep Damian out!
LOL Conchita is now sneaking Pozole orders out hiding the ‘contraband’ from the man! Hehe Letting the customers now they’ll figure things out and reopen soon. She prays for the impossible, Vicky to have a change of heart. Lupe, Mica, and Bertie are having the same conversation and Lupe is losing hope, Victoriana will never help her!! She won’t be consoled by anyone.
Domi goes to complain to mom about her window being blocked and she tells her mom she doesn’t plan to stay in a house in which she’s being held prisoner. Vicky doubles down on her classist BS and Domi doubles down on her I’m not six, I’ll chose who I love, stance! We are at an impasse, and Domi says either mom takes the bars off her window or she’s leaving the house. Vicky says she won’t leave.
Bertie wants to know why Victoriana is so set against Lupe and Mica almost but doesn’t quite tell him and Conchita tries to get her to keep her mouth shut. Bertie caught on that something is off, I’m sure.
Still on horseback, Jesus is roaming around the Finca and thinking back to childhood memories. Meanwhile, Carloca is throwing up, she quickly adds up the symptoms and is excited to think she might be pregnant!! If she is pregnant, I hope she isn’t crazy enough to be a danger to her own child.
Damian comes out and watches as his Domi access is being blocked. Meanwhile, Domi is packing to make good on her threat to mom while Emma begs her not to leave. Domi says she can’t stay in this prison. Domi even decides to leave all her credit cards and car behind. She doesn’t need anything from her parents. Domi makes Emma promise that she’ll be okay and she’ll take care of herself. The sisters make a pinky promise. Meanwhile, Damian thinking who knows what, heads off on his bike.
Adrain calls D. Abel and thanks him for loaning him books for the test. He tells him he thinks the test went well but it will be a week before he gets the results. Adrian asks for a favor; he wants D. Abel to find out what he can about the clinic where his mom was living and D. Abel agrees reluctantly to help Adrain.
Carloca goes looking for Modesta to find out where Jesus is and when she is told he’s out horseback riding, Carloca says she needs a ride to town! NOW!!!
Elisa arrives, I think at the Finca and an older blind lady immediately recognizes her without seeing her. She appears to be some sort of psychic or something and Elisa is there to ask about her sons. The lady tells her mostly what she already knows about the pain of the past and that danger is still following her and her sons.
Jesus is now in the room where Mari had been staying and looking around thinking of her. He finds the scapulary she left behind and puts it on again. His scene bleeds into the voice of the old lady talking to Elisa and now she’s hearing how Lisardo hasn’t been able to be happy because he still holds rancor in his heart. Elisa promises she will never stop looking for her sons whatever it takes and the lady tells her ‘he’s here!’. Is Lisardo there in the Finca? Yes, the lady says; much closer than you imagine!
Thank you Darcy, outstanding recaps of the last two episodes.
I liked how the story moved to the ranch for a little bit and I really enjoy all of Elisa's scenes. And now we have another piece of the puzzle... that knife with Victoriana's initials! Could she have had an affair with the boys' father and that's what attracted Augie's wrath? Elisa would have been long gone, could Emma be the bros step-sister? What would that make her and Adrian then? I forgot, is Adrian related to the Guerreros through Elisa or through Octavio?
So Carlota is pregnant and Jesus was only faking feeling dizzy to snoop around.
I'm so over Mari and Jesus as a couple! ITA agree with you, Darcy, that her tears and that scene when they met were so blah... Take their love out of the equation and you still have a show, maybe even a better one.
I do enjoy Damian and Domenica, though, I hope she ends up staying right across the street from her fancy mansion, with the Guerreros. If that won't make Victoriana's head explode...
The only downside to her leaving is that Emma will be left defenceless. She's very unstable, I'm afraid she will try to harm herself at some point.
Adriana, I agree with you. I liked the change of pace at the ranch and with Elisa! Things were getting a little stale we needed a shake up of scenery and conversation! It would be fun to see Domi staying with the Guerreros but I don’t think they have room considering all the boys share a room as it is. Maybe they could move Adrian inside and Domi into the cabin outhouse? Lol
SpanProf the baby would have to be Iker’s because Carloca didn’t actually sleep with Jesus, she lied to him about them having sex after he passed out from whatever she poured into his beer. The briefcase at Selena’s is whatever Fede removed from Augi’s house before the police came to do their search. Don’t know what is in it but Fede stashed it with Selena and I am sure it’s very incriminating if only Sam knew!!!! But of course he doesn’t.
Lupe sternly tells Conchita (née Concepción) that she is not to go running to Augi for help under any circumstances. Mari comes in. Hugs. Apologies. Thanks. Lupe notices she is still sad. Mari laments her bad luck with the men in her life. Isaías. Jesús. Celestino. All of a sudden she throws a tantrum and blames Lupe for running Celestino off.
Villalba visits Mommy Dearest with a business proposition. MD is gracious but calls him everything but Villalba (Villafuerte, Villa Aurora, LOL). 4,OOO words later he asks her to sign the paperwork to allow Guadaloopy Garcia to operate her pozole joint.
Mari’s tantrum continues in her bedroom with Conchita. She calls Lupe selfish for depriving her of Celestino. Conchita isn’t having it and says she will tell Mari the truth about her father. dun Dun DUN.
Fede meets Iker at jail and tells him it’s time for him to do his part in his deal with Augi. Iker is now a total yes man and quite nervous. Fede says Augi will give Iker instructions and paperwork for him to leave the country. Augi shows up and says, “Don’t forget our deal.”
Carloca argues with a doctor that she is pregnant. He says it is too early and she should wait a week to take a test.
Domi visits the garage looking for Damián and finds Sam. She confirms she’s leaving after fighting with her parents but doesn’t know where. Sam hugs her and invites her to live with them! Damián walks in just in time for the hug.
Elisa tells Santiago she has been looking for 3 brothers together but they were actually separated. He reminds her the witch doctor (or quack, LOL) says one was close. She asks to be left at the farm and promises to stay safe. She sees Lisardo/Jesús by the famous Mari Tree.
Domi complains about MD’s overbearing ways and wants to take control. Sam (now a life coach) uses the metaphor of Pinto’s reins for the different directions in life. Damián makes his entrance and asks persuades her to stay with them in D. Abel’s room. Sam, now happily beside himself, takes her suitcase and runs off. Domi is disillusioned with her parents. Damián says she can count on him. They kiss, and it’s not easy for Sam to watch. He exits.
Elisa is certain she has found Lisardo. Santiago warns her not to reveal herself until she is sure. Just then CarOBGYN calls out, “Jesús!” Santiago says “The kid is not your son.”
Carloca tells Jesús dinner is ready. He wants to return the horse. She would rather not ride and says she may have a surprise for him soon.
With a mere cellphone Santiago is able to confirm ALL the deets between Jesús and Carlota. Elisa thinks that can’t be her son. Lisardo would never be in cahoots (or a son-in-law) with Augi.
The truth Conchita reveals about Mari’s “father” Is what a worthless thief Celestino turned out to be. Very uncomfortable shouting ensues and Conchita forbids Mari to EVER disrespect her mother. This was a well-deserved verbal chanclaso.
Lupe prays for the strength to deal with the consequences of her mistakes. She shouldn’t have lied or hidden the truth, but she did it for Mari’s protection. Now if Mari really needs her father in her life, she will tell the truth and hopes for forgiveness.
MD realizes that her wordy visitor may have a crush on Guadalupe. This would work in her favor. She offers to upgrade his tea to something stronger.
Augi steps out of a black SUV (full pompadour) and tells Fede to take Iker for a spin and find out what he blabbed to the police. Augi will take care of Iker and Fede better have everything he asked for ready.
Mari and Conchita are friends again. She gives her a locket(?). It’s her gift for the upcoming exam. She is a García and a Warrior.
Valero tries to explain to Sam how love works. It’s nothing deliberate on Damián’s part. Sam doesn’t like it. Sam doesn’t want to hurt. Sam wants to forget. He no longer wants to work with Sam. He is going to take the reins (like Doménica) and choose his own path.
Adrián wants to find out more about his mother; but the psychiatric clinic won’t budge. Emma of Monte Cristo is on a mission to prove she did not drink at the party.
Augi gets home and flips his wig (still full
Pomp) when he learns Car-E.P.T. is at the finca and Domi has run off with “Greñas” - MD’s charming nickname for Damián.
Lupe tells Conchita she is going to tell Mari the whole truth. Mari apologizes. Lupe apologizes for hiding her father. She doesn’t want any more secrets. She’s about to spill all the frijoles when Mari interrupts and says she she doesn’t need anyone else. She thanks her complete family. They hug and cry.
Apparently there’s a bad batch of milk (literally) but it doesn’t matter to Augi. He insists that the bad milk be donated much to the chagrin of the farmhands who know this is wrong. Jesús, of course, overhears all this.
Augi visits the garage and demands to know where Doménica is.
Next we get a montage of Easy Rider Damián and Domi in the park & Sam and Selena looking for employment.
Augi calls Jesús and threatens him for being out with his daughter without authorization. This is news to Jesús. Augi tears into MD for her lack of control of the daughters and tells her she could learn from Guadalupe. OUCH!
Lupe picks up Mari’s dress for (graduation?) and gives the seamstress a little medallion of the Virgin Mary(?). This scene was odd; maybe it will make sense later.
Mari remembers Jesús’s declarations of love via flashbacks and then tries not to think about him. Real-time Jesús tells Carlota their trip is over.
MD is trying desperately to call “Meni.” Her nicknames have flair! Then she decides it’s time to negotiate her inheritance with the DNA results for Augi & Mari.
Mari thanks Augi for letting her use the finca. Augi gushes about her accomplishments and says if he were her father, he’d be the proudest man in the world(!!!). MD overhears this and more: Augi says he has no male heir and it’s a shame Mari isn’t his daughter. This puts the kibosh on MD’s negotiations. Mari will be a Ruiz Montalvo OVER HER DEAD BODY!
FIN
O.S., what a treat it was to read your recap this morning. So fun and filled with zingers, felt like you've been doing this for years. I especially loved your nicknames - Sam (now a life coach) / Emma of Monte Cristo - LOL
So the mechanic shop is getting bigger. Now we have Abel's room ready for Domi to move in. Pretty soon someone else is going to need to crash with the brothers (their mom, pregnant Carlota), and we will get a back room where they keep all their tools, but they can redecorate, or an attick, or a garage...
I do believe that if Carlota is pregnant Jesus would prefer to move into the mansion, keep Augie close to him.
Elisa saying he can't be her son because of the Carlota connection will be interesting to watch - she and her son might develop a tense relationship at first, she might believe he is Augie's yes man before the truth is revealed. That would bring some much needed drama to this tepid story.
Mari is such a whineeee...Sorry, I just don't like her, heroines like her are very 1990. As dangerous and unhinged as Carlota is, Altair Jarabo manages to play her in a way that sometimes I forget what a madwoman she is and I actually laugh at some of her highjinks.
Once again, amazing job, O.S.! Thank you for doing this, Darcy and I are very happy to have you join us.
O.S! How wonderful to see your recap!!! Thank you so much for surprising us with this witty and informative summary!! I love the way you catch all the nicknames and details that I may have missed!!
I agree that Mari's throwing a fit like a teenager is out of place, but Guadaloopy is far from innocent! It sort of bugs me how grandma just insists that Lupe is this loving mother who shouldn't be criticized or questioned. Lupe is a liar who has lied to and gaslighted Mari in so many ways on the subject of her father and been totally dismissive of any and all feelings Mari had on the subject. Even now, Mari wrongfully believes her father is Celestino the crook because of more lies Loopy told her!
I like Sam the life coach!!! LOL Too cute! Sadly, I don't know what kind of job he could get with no education or experience but I don't blame him for wanting his independence. It's interesting watching his reaction to heart break because it's exactly what I remember my first heartbreak being like. I was desperate to know how long it was going to hurt so I would know when the light at the end of the tunnel was coming. Sadly, some things just can't be reasoned into a timeline!
So frustrating that Carloca called 'Jesus' just when Elisa was convinced she found Lisardo!! Which she did of course!!! LOL But I supposed it's way too early for that reunion. I wonder what Elisa will think when she hears Jesus (not Lisardo) just happens to have two brothers Sam and Damian, would that be enough to make her doubt her he can't be Lisardo conclusion? I actually hope she's reunited with Sam first, that would be such a sweet reunion!
Emma of Monte Cristo!! LOL I love it!
