Thanks for the page, Darcy! Did you happen to forget the title? :)

Guerrero

I'll be posting today's recap after the show airs or later in the night (depending if I manage to write it after I watch it or not).

OT

Lol why yes mi amiga, I did forget the title!! Hehe, I will fix it after work! ;)

Thanks, Adriana, Darcy, & SpanProf, for all the support and encouragement. What an exciting and eventful episode!

Mari is on everyone’s last nerves with the crocodile tears. I am impressed by her intensity though. Carlota is consistently fun to watch. I just hate it when she (or anyone) is mean to The Help, so to speak.

Augi was very hateful yesterday. Wait until he finds out about the pregnancy. Mommy Dearest is a wild card. She may switch gears from outing Marluz’s paternity to ordering a hit.

Even though I joked about Emma of Monte Cristo, I’m glad they are fleshing out some backbone. She’s finally becoming more than the neglected lost cause. Rodrigo & Renata better watch out. LOL

More Sam & Valero, please. Adrián, please lose that ridiculous earring.

Steve Boudreaux, I am not watching Ringo, but always interested in your body counts and recommendations.

Corazon Guerreri capitulo 44
Part 1 of 3

Augusto tells Mari how great she is, if only she were his daughter, she could even run his business, since he has no male heirs (the message being that when no man is around, even a woman would do). Sure, Domi is great, but she’s not about to become a “licenciada” in finance. Hearing all this love fest, Victoriana decides that Augie is never to find out that Mari is his bastard child! Not on her watch!

Heriberto tells Lupe that he convinced Victoriana to sign all the necessary papers that will allow her to start her business for real. Lupe is all “how could you”, “I’m an independent woman”, but Bertie explains that he’s a gentleman, he had to step in.

Augie scolds Carlota about taking her novio to the ranch. She retorts that she’s old enough to make her own decisions and Jesus makes her happy. Everything coming out of her mouth sounds so normal… until she decides to tease her dad with the news of a possible future engagement. Oh, boy!

Pitiful Jesus is outside of Mari’s house, sending her a voice message. “I love you and you love me”, blah blah blah. Mari is in her room, deciding she’s had enough studying (God knows we’ve had enough seeing her study, talking about studying or thinking about studying). She wonders what she should wear the next day and starts going through her closet. No surprise she only sees her short flowery dresses, but there is also a brand new outfit, which comes with a nice note from mom (“love you, proud of you, you’re the best”). And inside the cloth bag is … another flowery dress, this time with tiny dots! Mari is happy, but all I can think about is why are they dressing this very beautiful, but in her 30s woman, with clothes that only a 20 year old would wear?

Jesus gets back home just in time to find his brothers, Adrian, Valero and DOMENICA in the kitchen. He’d very much like to know what is going on, she explains it’s just for a short while, but she can leave if he doesn’t want her there. Jesus assures her he’s fine with her staying with them, but then when Domenica steps out to take Victoriana’s call, he has a lot of questions for Damian. Sam is the one with the explanations, though, HE was the one to invite Domenica, and this is his house, too, right? Jesus can’t argue with that!
He has bigger worries, he tells his brothers that he found out that Augie has some expired milk stashed in a warehouse, and he plans to give it to charity. What they have to do is find that place.

The next day Domenica finds a rose and a letter with a heart with her name on her bed.

Jesus finds out today is the day Mari has to take her “licenciada” exam. But for now he has to focus on other things, because he already found the warehouse and he and his brothers have come to take a sample of the milk, see if it’s really gone bad. If that were true, it means that Augie doesn’t care about harming innocent children just to gain some publicity.
They get inside the place and are taking a few spoons of the white powder (that Damian confirms is, indeed, milk), but they have to stop their CSI investigation when they hear noise. It’s Augie, Fede, two other goons and a pretty beaten up Iker!
As Augie tells a kneeled Iker that he betrayed him, Jesus starts taping the whole thing. When he sees Augie take out his gun, he leaves his phone with Sam and says he needs to try to save Ike’s life. (“Don’t be a hero,” the Patio says, “nobody cares about Iker, but some of us care about you”)

Corazon Guerrero capitulo 44
Part 2 of 3

At the same time, in another part of novelaland, Mari is in exam mode. Her mom and grandma kiss her good luck and then… actually get to watch from the audience as Mari gives what we can only assume is a stellar presentation of her thesis (or whatever it might be, since we were spared the audio). Maybe that’s the way it happens in Mexico, but when I had my “licenciada” exam, the only people in the room were the three very serious professors who were quizzing me. And that was only the oral part, which was followed by the written exam and a couple of weeks of waiting.
But nope, Licenciada Mari gets her answer right away, because Conchita and Lupe start applauding as soon as she’s done. Then they all go outside, I guess the other people passing their exams weren’t worthy enough to enjoy their applause.

Back to Augie and his band of criminals, he is now telling Iker that he is forbidding him to cross paths with Domenica ever again. “Largate!” he screams, while handing him some car keys. As soon as Iker runs outside, Augie gets Fede’s confirmation that the car has been “fixed”.

Back to Mari and her family, Lupe and Conchita have prepared her a party. Mari, still wearing her fugly dress, which now I realize is also very short, tight and ruffled (yeah, that’s a thing), is overjoyed.
Heriberto is also there, then Valero and Mica arrive, and Mica is filming the whole thing.

Leaving the warehouse, the brothers don’t understand what just happened. They were sure Augie was going to kill Iker. Damian thinks Augie only wanted to scare him silly, get him to leave Domenica for good. But Jesus is not so sure, something is off about this whole thing.

And sure enough, we see Iker driving heretically, face bleeding and all. With Augie following him, he decides to call Carlota to threaten her that he will tell everyone that she got into his bed. And then he calls Domenica to apologize for what he’s done to her and say that despite everything, he always loved her. Yeah, and also, Carlota seduced him, so he slept with her. And then his car breaks stop working and he goes into a ditch.
The car turns upside down, Augie and Fede arrive soon after. Iker is actually still alive and manages to get out of the car, but Augie is right there, once again with his gun out. This time he’s not playing games anymore, he actually shoots Iker in cold blood “for his daughter, Domenica”. In the meantime Fede finds Iker’s phone just outside the car and pockets it.
Later, alone with his uncle, Fede asks Augie why didn’t he get rid of the gun he used to kill Iker, too. Augie explains that he’s keeping the weapon in case he might need it to frame some other guy (don’t remember the name).

In the meantime, somewhere I can’t recognize, Domenica is lighting some candles (in broad daylight) and spreading rose petals all around. She sees the message from Iker, but doesn’t listen to it.

Back at the ranch, Elisa is in the cabana with Santiago. She feels defeated, she doesn’t know where to look anymore. Santiago is encouraging her to stay strong, there is so much more that she can still do, she is the bravest woman he knows. Elisa decides it’s time she went after Augie by using the same methods he usually employs. Santiago looks scared.

There is also a side plot about Ema meeting David Porto, a famous influencer, who Rodrigo introduces her to. She asks him for an interview, which he reluctantly agrees to. But then he’s impressed by her questions, he has to admit he only thought of her as a shallow person because she talked about makeup. But now he can see how amazing she is. Ema is very happy to hear this, her dream is to become a journalist.
When Rodrigo tries to get Ema’s attention after the meeting with the influencer is done, she brushes him off, she’s busy.

Corazon Guerrero capitulo 44
Part 3 of 3

Carlota is searching for Jesus at the shop, but nobody is around. She gets a “ding” on her phone and starts watching Micaela’s live of Mari’s “licenciada” party. Because you can all bet that Carlota and Micaela are Instagram buddies or whatever.
At first she is only a bit annoyed, but then she actually sees Jesus (and Sam) arrive and goes ballistic. She gets to witness all the scenes that Mica is filming (which is everything): Jesus arriving with some mariachis for Mari, the mariachis singing something like “bravo for Maricruz, the licenciada” over and over again… Jesus doesn’t actually dare to approach Mari and Lupe, Conchita and Bertie seem unhappy to see him.
Eventually Bertie breaks the tension by asking Mari to dance. Then it’s Valero’s turn to dance with the star of the party, Sam gets to congratulate her, too. Jesus just watches from the sidelines, big smile on his face.

In the meantime Damian has arrived to the place where Domenica was playing with those candles and rose petals earlier. From a sign on the wall saying “Jacuzzi” and some instructions, we can only assume this is some sort of spa and Domenica rented it for the day.
Anyway, Damian finds Domenica in a bubble bath, she is smiling and looking very sexy, but all can think about is “omg, she’s wearing a full face of makeup while taking a bubble bath; this will look very bad in five minutes”.
Anyway, Domenica invites Damian to come join her and he doesn’t hesitate much. He quickly gets rid of his clothes (and the actress has a perfect timing of showing Domenica’s slight blush when he removes his underwear, but the Patio only sees his ankles, so… boohoo).
They get down and dirty (or down and clean, since everything is happening in a huge bathtub) and everything is very romantic. They exchange I love you’s, talk about wanting to build a life together, having babies and pets and the big picket fenced house.
Damian is all in, he’s only afraid of her parent’s reaction. Domenica, proving how naïve she still is when it comes to her genitors, says that as long as she’s happy, they won’t protest. As if!! They only live once and she wants to spend her life with him. Yey!
But she also believes they should confide in one another always, so now would be the time for him to share whatever secret he’s keeping from her. Damian pretends to be surprised, but his mind goes straight to Jesus asking him to pretend to love Domenica only to destroy her, back when their revenge plan seemed like such an easy task.

Thank you Adriana for this wonderful recap! Your humor is delightful as always! I loved 'the message being that when no man is around, even a woman would do!' LOL So true, what a jackass!

Getting a 'licenciada' sounds like hard work! LOL I can only think it must be similar to a master's degree in USA where you have to write a thesis. I stopped at my Bachelor's degree so I didn't go through that just had to pass the final tests in the last year same as all the finals from the years before. I was in a hurry to get done with school and out in the 'real world', if I'd know what I trap that was I would have stayed in college until I was 30! LOL

I could be remembering wrong, I was multitasking when watching and I'm doubting my memory now, but I think Augi threatened to use the gun to frame Damian!! He said that if Damian didn't back off Domi like he was told he could use the gun to get rid of that problem. There was also a ominous foreshadowing comment made by Damian to Domi when he said he was willing to do anything for Domi, he'd even kill for her! Can't say I want to see that happen but it could def add some intrigue and drama if Augi tried to frame Damian to get him away from Domi, good think Jesus has the video of Augi threatening Iker with the gun.

I guess the whole Jacuzzi scene was romantic... I just have a thing about getting busy in public places - where you may well be the lucky 12th couple to do so in that very spot this day, or week or whatever... it's just a turn off to me but I guess it works for most people. :)

GUERRERO

Darcy, thank you for clearing up who Augie mentioned, I couldn't hear rge name. But it would make sense that he's have a plan to get rid of Damian, just in case.
It would definititelt make the storumy more exciting.
I wonder what will Mari do now, that she has her degree... Will Augie give her a job in his company? What is it that he does anyway??

Guerrero

Thanks Adriana & Darcy for the awesome recap and clarification of events.

LOL @ Mari’s “fugly” licenciada dress. Adriana, I don’t know much about fashion, but I love your blunt critiques!

I guess/I’m glad they dropped the whole Sam-looking-for-employment subplot. He appears to be peaceful and happy back home.

I was cracking up at junior detective Damián tasting the powder and verifying it was milk. Aren’t we in an opioid/Fentanyl crisis? I wouldn’t recommend bursting into a known crook’s property and tasting random white powder. Spoiled POWDERED milk for the orphanage…cozy winter beanie time.

The seed was planted for the unraveling of Carloca’s plan. I’m glad Iker (still haven’t forgotten those ratchet tattoos) left those messages before crashing and dying. Actually lots of seeds were planted yesterday. Augi’s nefarious plan for Damián and the latter’s “do anything” profession. Elisa even declared to out-Augi Augi.

Nonetheless, the cast really looked like they were having a great time at the Licenciada party. I’d like to think we would all do the same at a Patio party!

I remember someone asking Spanish-speakers what lisenciada meant. Some said that sometimes it's used if you 'wear a costume'. But people basically said it means you have a degree: lisenciada, ingeniero, andI think there's another common one that I can't remember.
I couldn't stop laughing at that mariachi song. I would feel so damn awkward if someone did something like that to me, notthat it's ever happening.
Carlota might be old enough, but not sane enough to choose anything more serious than a dress pattern. She will set something on fire.
Domenica actually seems to think her parents want the best for her.Well, at least none of the sisters could say their parents wanted the best for them so it's equal. Emma is unlucky in that Victoriana is open about her feelings towards her. But in the end the result is the same. The favourite was the first to run away. Can they get an extra room for Emma in that Guerrero place?

Guerrero. Great recap, Adriana! Whew! Mari was able to take her final Licenciado exam and passed with flying colors! (Reminds me of my doctoral exam, since there doesn't appear to be a written version; I had to pass it to start my dissertation. My MA exam was part written, part oral, though.) But now what will Vicki do? Certainly she will be trying to mess up something! Hmm. I wonder if Iker is really dead. Given that this is a telenovela, he could show up later to claim paternity of Carlota's child. But trying to frame someone else for his murder is even more likely. Good for Heriberto! He's a prince--if only he didn't talk so much.

"GUERRERO":
Waterlily: Did they kill off Natalia Esperon's character ? 🤔

Steve Boudreaux

Guerrero
Steve, I'm about to find out as I haven't seen the episode yet. I suppose they have to make Carlota do something criminal enough to make her evil... But if they are going to drag this out and I'll have to watch her lying in hospital, I will be veery angry.

Guerrero

No one died on Friday's episode. Natalia Esperon's charater was uninjured. It was the character of Conchita that got injured by Carlota's fire bombs but not critically injured. The paramedics did give her some pretty good pain killers though apparently which made her a bit loopy and provided some comedic moments.

I didn't watch Friday's episode closely, as it was a busy day for me but some plot points I remember:

Mari's grad party continues and no one is thrilled that Jesus is there, especially not Carloca! Jesus has the same I love you even if I can't be with you conversation with Mari for the 1,000th time and the only thing different this time is that Mari makes it clear that she knows Jesus 'slept with Carloca.' Jesus says he doesn't know what happened, he wasn't feeling good and he was thinking of Mari; he never meant to be with Carloca. Which is true of course, but it sounds ridiculous! Now even Conchita demands that Jesus go away and leave Mari alone.

Augi shows up at Mari's party and puts a damper on Domi's happy day. He insists Damian isn't good enough for her and will never be on her level. Domi says she loves him and doesn't care what daddy thinks. At the same time, Damian makes sure Jesus and Sam know he's completely out as far as the plan goes. He loves Domi, she's his life and she's a good person. She has nothing to do with daddy's evil. Later, Augi lets Jesus know that just because they are business partners and he likes them doesn't mean they have free reign with his daughters. He wants to talk to Damian tomorrow!!!

As mentioned above, jealous Carloca decides to take out her rage on Mari by carelessly throwing little fire balls (lit bottles of alcohol) randomly into her party with no thought or care for who might be hit or hurt by them. Jesus later tells his brothers and Domi that he's sure someone attacked on purpose but he's guessing it was someone out to get Villabla??? d. Abel returns but his room is taken now by Domi. Damian gives him his bed and will sleep in the living room. Carloca is found asleep on Jesus's bed and when he wakes her she claims she was worried about him and then tries to interest him in being with her since it's all she can think about since they made love the first time. Jesus experiences confused memories of that night where Carloca blends into Mari who blends into Carloca.

Villalba declares his love to Lupe but he uses so many words to do it that by the time he gets to the point, Lupe is asleep! He too falls asleep and the next morning when Lupe wakes up and reacts to them accidentally falling asleep on the couch fully clothed as if something truly scandalous had happened!

Elisa leaves a painting at Augi's house of Octavio's gravesite, along with the knife she found there as a sort of declaration of war. Damian shows up at the house as requested and sees both the painting and the knife I believe. Def the knife, but I think the painting too. Augi basically calls Damian trash and tells him he knows how to extinguish rats like him if he doesn't leave his daughter alone. Damian makes it clear he doesn't care what Augi says, isn't scared of his threats and will remain with Domi because they love each other and want to be together. Damian stabs the knife into Augi's desk and leaves. Augi picks up the phone and calls and tells someone (probably Fede) you know what to do!

Guerreo

A couple more things, after Damian decides his future is with Domi, Jesus suggests Damian take her somewhere far far away to get away from the drama and Augi's hatred. Sam too, makes it clear that he wants to find his own path too and Jesus supports him. Sam had told Selena earlier that day that he planned to go job hunting again the next day.

About Selena, she spent most of the day with Sam at the grad party and he walks her home. Valero thinks Selena is good for Sam because she can help him get over Domi but Jesus thinks Selena is too experienced for Sam and there's something about her he just doesn't trust. They say a sweet goodbye but after Sam leaves, Selena finds Fede in her apartment and it's once again clear that whomever Fede is to Selena she's not happy about it. Fede insults Sam several times and tells Selena she better not go falling in love with him because he's just a means to an end and Selena belongs to Fede!! He starts to forcefully pull her shirt off her shoulder and kiss her and she's trapped.

Guerrero
Didn'tCelina say she is his sister? But then F is a disgusting pervert. Or did I make it up?

Guerrero

Waterlily, I don’t remember Selina saying Fede was her brother. If he is then YIKES!! But I don’t think so.

Guerrero. Excellent if abbreviated recap, Darcy, despite your busy day and other obligations. Carlota gets ever more dangerous! And how long befoer Elisa and the 3 brothers are reunited?
