SpanProf, your comment cracked me up! What a coincidence indeed! Lol I haven’t heard from Adriana I hope things are going well and I am assuming life happened as it does. Feel free all to discuss yesterday as you’d like. I don’t remember anything sticking out but I was recapping Camino yesterday and was focused on that.
Steve, are you enjoying Dueña?
Hello, everyone! I woke up this morning thinking it was Friday, but it is actually Saturday, it looks like I skipped a whole day. Might be turning senile, I think...
Working the night shift currently, so that's a lot of "fun" (nevermind that I was the one to ask for the shift change - what was I thinking!!), so I'm tired all the time...
Yes, big introduction to let you all know that I won't be posting anything about Thursday, because I'm a bit fried at the moment. Sorry for keeping you waiting and not saying something sooner, I've been very flacky with this novela and I apologize for it. Not giving it up, I'm going to try to plan better for next week and catch up on missed episodes. Wedding day is here??
We pick up with Stuttering Jesús’ flagrant delay of game/wedding. He finally says “I do.” Sam shows his lack of support for this charade by slamming the rings down when requested and being the most reluctant ring bearer. In a bold move, The Elisa in Red abruptly leaves her seat, puts her hand on Augi’s shoulder, and beats a hasty retreat. Mommy Dearest refuses to let him follow and threatens to make a scene.
Mariluz, who’s stayed way longer than her encryption task requires, wanders about the grounds crying and wasting valuable story advancement opportunities.
Elisa identifies the bungalow and decides to risk it all to find her sons. She approaches Mari(!) to confirm the bungalow population. Mari says no one is there and thinks she recognizes her voice. Mica interrupts this meeting and Elisa slips away. Augi’s inept security detail is none the wiser.
Jesús and Carlota are pronounced Husband y Loca. She is beaming; he looks as though he may be passing a kidney stone. They kiss, and all 16 attendees applaud. Bubbles are blown. Hugs are exchanged.
Ugh. Adrián & Emma waltz into the wedding late. MD immediately lights into her. Stockholm Emma vows to Mica that she will do right by MD and improve their relationship. Adrián congratulates Jesús and tells him he and Emma were out looking for Fuego (not a euphemism). Jesús is understanding and they hug.
Over at the grand reopening of the Pozolería, Villalba blathers, Las García worry about Mari, Selena dances, and Don Abel wonders what the hell he’s doing in this scene.
Sam and Damián steal a file from Mariluz’s old office. Augi’s inept security details is none the wiser.
Augi and Patricio are discussing politics so Bri slithers over to Sam to steal some kisses. Sam says the wedding is all lies and he’s had enough; he’s leaving. He really is upset by this farce. Fede comes sniffing around Bri. They actually advise each other that the Guerreros cannot be trusted!
The Guerreros are together at a table and perform a medley of their greatest hits! They are going to sock it to Augusto and expose his affairs. They are going to clear Villalba. They are going to wind up hurting and losing the girl(s) they love most.
Mariluz makes it back to the Pozolería and sulks to Conchita. Jesús and Carluquis thank some guests for their gifts. Zero ground broken here.
Mommy Drunkest gives Carloca some rambling advice about her wedding night. When questioned about her blood alcohol level, MD reminds her she is celebrating not seeing her anymore. LOL. They part ways and MD commandeers a new bottle of champagne from a waiter. Just as she is shamelessly mid-swig, Emma comes around the corner doing a live (and exposing MD’s graceless chug-a-lug to the internet). You already know how this plays out.
Mica is at the Pozolería giving all the wedding deets. She didn’t have to work because MD hired a slew of waiters muy fifís. She was not amused by the food (little bites) and cold soup. Ick! D. Abel says this was most likely gazpacho. Indeed. Sopa de Gacho agrees Mica. Ruh roh. Selena’s friend Juanita recognizes Don Abel as the man who helped the landowners buck Augi.
The Guerreros are having their picture taken. Fede comes by to wish Jesús well while reminding the patio what a jackass he is. His snarky advice falls on deaf ears. Jesús’ zinger: I married Carlota not Augi. Enjoy the party, Cousin. Fede is dismissed, but doesn’t get it. Sam, whose scene-stealing is approaching felonious levels, pats Fede on the shoulder (like Jesús has just done) and he finally gets a clue and leaves.
Don Abel tells Las García, et. al, that he was acting on behalf of a client. He gave the monies to help the people keep their land. Warrior Hearts still exist (see what the writers did there?). D. Abel asks Juanita to zip it about the grant and his association with Los Guerreros.
Federico brings his favorite party trick, jackassery, to Carlota next. He wants to know how it is that Jesús brought no family the shindig. Unfazed, she confirms Jesús has no uncles or cousins or anything. She then pulls rank and warns Fede not to be causing trouble/gossip for Augi’s son-in-law. He backs off and grabs some champagne. They toast (but once again we do not see her actually drink).
Valero has asked Mica to be his girlfriend (via phone) and she accepts. The Pozolería erupts in support snd Mica reveals this is her first boyfriend.
Patricio and Doménica’s 9th grade guidance counselor/BFF are bidding Augi a farewell. MD (clearly LIT) slurs a goodbye. Once alone, MD really goes in. Augi chides her drinking. If she shouldn’t have drunk so much, then Augi should not have brought his lover. Why doesn’t he tell her that she covered her face in vain? MD knows she’s his whore. Why did he bring her?!! To embarrass MD? Augi says it’s time to go home. She dares him (to remove her). She will cause a scene (too late). She is getting good and plenty tired of his controlling everything. He wants to control how much she drinks. What’s next? Her hair? She ruffles her own hair. Drunk MD is a hoot!
Don Abel congratulates Valero on his new relationship. Valero says this is the happiest day of his life. On the other hand, Jesús must be miserable - the price of vengeance. Guadalupe overhears this and demands an explanation. Valero gets nervous and goes into Hyper-Valero mode. He goes into semantics (revenge vs. vengeance). From the Three’s Company playbook of misunderstandings, Lupe now thinks that Jesús married Carlota for money. Don Abel urges Valero to say no more.
Somehow new groom Jesús finds time to go to Mari’s old office, log into her computer, and chat/flirt with her via RE3NCUENTROS.
Valero cannot shut up and digs his hole (with Lupe) deeper.
Augi is ranting and raving to Fede about Elisa and his inept security detail. The name of this episode is “What Did That Woman Do To You To Make You Hate Her So Much?” and this is exactly what Fede asks Augi. His response: You’ve e been wanting to know; I will tell you. FLASHBACK to Augi stabbing Victoriano Peñalver. Rewriting history, Augi tells Fede that Elisa (!) killed Victoriano Peñalver.
Elisa & Opera Man realize their microphone (in Augi’s office) has been destroyed. Elisa convinces herself that the mechanics are not her sons. Lisardo was honest and loyal; he would never marry for money like Jesús. Damián was a bit of a rebel who would fight for all, unlike that punk on the motorcycle. The baby Sam was an angel who never got angry so he couldn’t be that petulant ring bearer at the wedding. The mechanics are not her sons, but they may be her link to Augi.
Oh, dear. Jesús tells Mariluz that he now lives in France. She is devastated. Why is he so far away?Le Jésus then signs off and heads back to the reception where he’s thrown in the air like a human sack of lies.
Elisa goes all arts and crafts-y and makes a creepy sign (from letters cut from a magazine) that says “We (Sánchez, Inc.) are already close to you.”
la fin
Adriana, thanks for checking in! I know it's been crazy for me lately and I can't imagine adapting to night shift again. That is quite the transition. I kept meaning to check in with you but I forgot too! Thank you for hanging in there with us we have been sort of meandering this week but I'm hoping for foreword movement next week! Give us some action please!!!
While we're talking about scheduling conflicts I wanted to let the whole patio know I have one for the week of March 27-31st which is not next week but the one after. My boss is sending me out of town for work and I won't be able to post my recaps that week since I won't have access to my computer and it's just plain too hard to post that much content from my phone - I tried recapping on my phone once in the past, never again. I'm not sure yet what my schedule will look like but I'll do my best to stay current with watching and at least join active in the conversation during that week. I will make sure to schedule the discussion pages to publish before I leave.
O.S. I like your sense of humour.Husband and loca indeed. When Victoriana wanted to talk to the crazy one, I was like what advice would you give? But I was disappointed to hear it was just something about loca having to keep Jesus.
I said from the start Sam shouldn't have been turned into seduce and spy guy. He has blown his cover it seems. This plot twist is still uncomfortably weird to me. Does anyone remember where Ema and Adrian go in the last episode? I just remember her saying she's got an idea.
Elisa must love adrenaline if tapping on Augusto's shoulder is what she chooses to do. I wonder what she'd have done if he had followed.
Is Jesus going to spend his free time chatting with M on that site?So according to telenovela law, will Carlota have to die so that we could have a church wedding?
Thank you O.S. for another wonderful recap full of wit and humor! I just love reading your recaps!! You are so good at this!!! I loved Stokholm Emma and Mommy Drunkest....too bad that even drunk and in a good mood Vicky still can't be kind to Emma.
The wedding that never should have been was and now Jesus and Carloca are married, and I feel like nothing has changed....seriously we need some action here. So Lupe now thanks Jesus married Carloca for money, who cares?? Really? So what?
Fede now thinking Elisa killed Vicky's daddy might be interesting, a little. I liked your comment about Sam's scene stealing becoming felonious but really, if everyone else just lays down and plays dead, is it even stealing anymore??
The scene that bugged me the most was Elisa insisting the Guerrero's couldn't be her sons and her reasoning for each. This bugs me for two reasons, the first is petty and the other is more reasonable. First the petty, how does she know which of the Guerreros is which from oldest to youngest?? She knows her own birth order of course but between the Guerreros? They all look the same age and the actors are all within months of each other in age IRL. There is definitely nothing there to tell a stranger who is oldest to youngest. Elisa hasn't had enough exposure to each of them to know so she has to be guessing. Like I said, it's petty but I think that is sloppy writing it would have been much more realistic if she had mixed them up in order and was wondering if Sam could be her Damian or Damian could be Lisardo, etc.
The second reason is because she compares them to how they were as severely young children and says they CAN'T be different now??? What?? That is the silliest thing a novela has tried to get me to believe this week! Especially Sam, he was always the happiest child he couldn't possibly be mad!!! He would never do such a thing! Does she really think her youngest child has never been mad or had a bad day??? To her credit, Sam is a shockingly good natured person despite everything he's been through but still clearly capable of petulance as we saw.
I also found it strange Selena was at the restaurant and not the wedding...
Waterlily, I think Adrian and Emma went off somewhere to get horizontal...it didn't actually show where they went just implied it by having them arrive so late and disheveled to the wedding - I would say party, but that wasn't a party.
Not sure about the novela law but it sounds right, or Jesus and Mari could get as bored as the rest of us and just wander off to do something else. I vote for that! :) But they will be heading for the wedding, I'm sure.
I agree with you on Sam. I don't like the seduce and spy angle at all for him, he's too innocent for that.
