Cuando Me Enamoro #181 Thursday 1/5/12 Love is the answer, and you know that for sure. Love is a flower, you gotta let it grow.*

*John Lennon, Mind Games

All you Rene Casados fans are in for a treat tonight. It’s Papa Gonzo’s night to shine. Cliff Huxtable, Ward Cleaver, Richard Castle, step aside and make room for the master, Don Gonzalo Monterrubio!

Oh cool, we get to see the swordfight on the high seas one more time. Just the end though, the skewering, in effect the best part. Wow, Jero really jammed it in there. But all that bloody spittle was just gross.

After some prolonged repeated scenes we finally get to where we left off last night...

Lurking Berta overhears the post-necklace Hija/Mama exchange. From her spiteful point of view this tender moment is not about Renata but rather about herself and she demands an explanation, much as she would from a lover kissing another woman. Regina and Renata agree the time for truth has come. “You are not my real daughter,” Regina admits. “¿Cómo?” demands Roberta, purple eyelids ablaze in anger. She recounts the proof, the DNA test, her heart condition, the birth certificate, what about all that? Regina firmly insists it was all a dreadful mistake (equivocacion). They lob this multisyllabic word back and forth until Regina cuts the game short, Berta’s fingerprints did NOT match those on Regina’s birth certificate. You’ve got to give Berta props, she plays this match like a pro. She looks truly stricken and tells Regina she really saw her as her own true mother and was beginning to love her as such. Regina admits she was shocked too but without a doubt Renata is her real daughter.

Roberta cries that she doesn’t want to give Regina up as her mama. She doesn’t want to be the daughter of a murderess. “No quiero, no quiero!” Renata jumps in and tells her sister they no longer have to be under Fina’s dirty cloud. This is the perfect time for Berta to reinvent herself, change, and start Telling The Truth (hint hint). Berta weeps that Fina has already destroyed her and she has nothing else to tell. Renata puts Berta on the spot, did she really know all this time that she was Fina’s daughter?  Was Roberta aware of the identity switch?

Over at the fiesta site Fina, in disguise but still completely identifiable as Josefina Monterrubio, chats with the other neon-wigged singers while Jero and Matias, mere steps away, take no notice of the pink-hued help. Jero pensively talks to Matias about the first time he was in this garden at Mat’s welcome, about all that has happened since then and about letting go of all his feelings of vengeance. Matias says “life is full of surprises, Profe”. (Well he would be surprised if only he’d check out the wacko on the stage!) Jero is delighted that Matias has decided to call him “teacher” again and Matias, quickly becoming the master of the love fest, admits that Jero will always be the best example of a teacher to him. (Certainly he is the best example of how to look hot in a suit.)

Jero says speaking of examples he and Renata decided that there would be no better example of Godparents than Matias and Adri. Matias ratchets up the love and sheds a sentimental tear before embracing his Profe in a macho man-hug. Fina can’t resist skulking close to them, peeking at their happiness and leaving a wake of creepified, howling background music. Boys, are you deaf?!?!

There is howling inside too. Regina and Renata press Berta to tell them where Fina is , they are sure she knows, but Berta continues to loudly insist of course she doesn’t know! (Por supuesto que no!) She doesn’t have the least idea (la menor idea) where that woman is! She promises! Their body language says it all, real mother and daughter side by side, hanging their heads in disbelief, Renata’s arms crossed in defense against the lies. Roberta rushes out (as usual) and Nata comforts her weeping mother.

We’re back in the wine country and for the first time there are no giant block letters advising us of the location. I guess they figure that after 180 episodes we finally know where we are. Manuela is saying goodbye to Tony and Padre S as our favorite young couple excitedly enters the scene. They have good news and proudly show her their university registrations. Ali will study nutrition to help girls who share her problem and Anibal will of course study oenology and come back to dedicate himself to wine production.

Fina is in the washroom arranging her lurid locks and cackling that her vengeance is nigh. Heh, she checks under the stalls to make sure she’s alone before channeling the witch queen, “Mirror Mirror on the wall”. Nothing gives her greater pleasure than exerting control over the lives of others. “Fina you are marvelous! You are one of a kind. You are brilliant my queen, brilliant!” she giggles. Her telephone interrupts her autolovefest and she cheerfully wishes her daughter Feliz Cumpleaños.

“We’ve been found out,” blurts Berta. She says the estupido bank compared fingerprints and discovered that Berta was the Cuckoo chick imposter placed in another bird’s nest. Now she won’t get a worm or a peso because the whole world knows Renata is the true inheritor and daughter of estupida Regina Soberon. (Hey, Roberta’s got some scar on her forearm. It looks like one I have on the same spot from where I once got slashed by a wineglass; it took 156 stitches to close that pumper.) After they take turns blaming each other Roberta immerses herself in loathing and whines that now Renata will have everything, the money, the house, Jero’s love, while Berta once again is stuck with nada. “You don’t know how much I hate her. Why couldn’t she have drowned in the sea along with Jeronimo?”

Fina tries to calm her down and get the 411 on where Roberta stands with Regina and Renata.  Berta says she played the victim and vowed she had no idea that she wasn’t Regi’s girl. Fina’s glad and instructs Berta to go back and enjoy the party and pretend to be happy for being part of La Familia Monterrubio in spite of everything (a pesar de todo). Fina assures her they will still carry out their plan and head to Switzerland, happy to once again be mother and daughter. Berta whines about no money and Fina divulges that she does have money (pero yo sí) and she’ll share it with Berta when they escape. “Now go party down because tomorrow we start a new life.”

Manuela and Kari are in an echo-y construction which is the house that Laz is building for Kari. Wow, that Super Laz is some hombre, works full time, chases bad guys, saves people, seeks out the truth, and now he’s building a house too. They talk ad nauseum about how much Laz loves and has loved Kari (OK, I admit I’m jealous that she got MI Lazaro!) and then they waste more valuable viewing time checking out the kitchen.

Over at Casa M Jero is holding a pow wow with Gonzo, Regi and Nata. He says once again he does not trust or believe Roberta. Renata and Regina comment that Berta seemed truly sad and she swore she knew nothing about Fina, although they know it wasn’t true. Gonzo reminds them that Fina was seen leaving Germy’s apartment and Regina tells him they gave her a chance to tell the the truth but she didn’t. “That’s because she’s a professional liar,” advises Jero, “just like her mother.”  Gonzo cuts Berta some slack by pointing out that Fina’s horrendous child-rearing left its mark on Roberta.

The Garish Grupo warms up as the Familia Monterrubio (sans Berta) arrives at the party. Fina, looking like Fearless Fly in drag, thought bubbles that she didn’t wait 24 years for nothing, she and her daughter are going to reign supreme, bwahahaha!

Ines and Regina say that every year they had a birthday cake for Renata, never losing hope. Now Regina can finally be happy...a pesar de todo. Regi meets the questioning looks by admitting that Roberta already knows she is not Regina’s daughter.

As for Berta, she sulks up in her ivory tower, damning Renata for stealing everything that Roberta ever wanted. Gonzo taps on the door and tells her Regi told him everything. The sweet daddy music plays and he wants her to listen. She came into his life when she was only 12 years old with her innocent smile. From that moment he thought of her as his daughter. She tries to interrupt, saying “but not like Renata...” He shushes her and continues, yes each child is different but a father’s love is equal for both. For him she is his daughter and always will be. He adds that her mother filled her heart with hate and envy but Roberta is responsible for her own life. He urges her to fight to have her own life. Believe it or not her sister loves her and so does Regina.

Down at the fiesta Renata is excited that Mat and Adri will be padrinos to little Regina or Rafael. Matias negotiates a similar deal for them when his child is born. The foursome couldn’t be happier but the camera pans to...Fina, hidden in full view, who observes while serenaded by the evil, groaning voices in her head.

Back in Berta’s room it appears as if papa’s words might be melting the iceberg that is her heart. His assurance that the power of love transcends everything brings her to tears. He knows she can reinvent herself and start fresh. He invites her tell him everything she knows about Fina who, although she is Berta’s mother, has not been a good mother. Fina only thinks of herself and puts herself in front of everyone including Berta. He begs his daughter not to be an accomplice to a murderer and he gently reminds her that Fina killed the love of Berta’s life. This really sets Berta off and she’s wracked in sobs thinking about her profound loss. Gonzo assures her she still has her family, and he tells her several times how much he loves her. “I love you too Papa” she sobs after he has departed, and she clings to her pillow as she weeps. Wow, what a powerful scene. It brought tears to my eyes. How about a standing ovation for these two?

Gonzo joins Regina, he’s not sure if his words affected Roberta. “Now is the time on Sprockets when we dance!” commands Regina, and the table obeys. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Here is one of the old SNL Sprockets Skits) What a great party; and they really know how to dance! I sure wish that poor family could have just one party where shooting and grave bodily harm are not the guests of honor.

In the midst of much toasting and familial bonding up strolls Roberta wondering if they should cut the cake like they do every year. Regina takes the microphone and all eyes are on her WITH FINA RIGHT BEHIND HER but nobody nobody seems to notice her. Regina says this is a special day for her and she begins to tell the story about an evil woman stealing her daughter so many years ago. Well she finally found her after all these year, but guess what, life was generous and she found two daughters! Berta looks surprised to be included in the happiness. Regina announces that now she has two daughters and her heart is overflowing with love for both of them. Happy Birthday hijas!

Fina, looking like she wants to hurl, claps politely in the background while Regina leads a rousing version of Las Mañanitas. The two sisters close their eyes and make a wish then together blow out the candles. Renata drags her sis to the microphone and blathers her happiness and thanks to everyone in the crowd, calling out her family one by one. Fina’s scowling then smirking head keeps popping up between the sisters like a bobble-head from hell.

Berta takes the mic, says she’s made a lot of mistakes and today she wants to ask their forgiveness. “What are you doing?” Fina angrily thought-bobbles behind her. Berta continues by saying she told lies to many of them. She tells Jero she knows he rarely believes her, but she swears she loved Rafael with all her heart and soul. And now her punishment is that she has neither his love nor his child. She tells Gonzo from the moment she arrived in his life he was always a great papa to her. She asks Renata to forgive her for always trying to be like Renata but also for hating everything that Renata tried to be. She was always envious of Renata’s capacity to love and be loved. Berta says today they have all given her the opportunity to reinvent herself and she’s going to try. Gonzo beams and Jero looks skeptical. It would take him at least another 130 episodes to start believing her.

Roberta says to prove herself she admits she does know where Josefina Alvarez is and she and her real mother were planning to leave the country tomorrow. From the bottom of her heart she begs their forgiveness. “Forgive me sister,” she cries to Renata and hugs her sister.

Renata leads Berta away from the microphone as Fina turns and pulls something out of her bag of tricks. Berta asks her sis to forgive her and as she hugs Renata she sees a wackily wigged out version of her mama glare at them, shake her head and assume the shooting stance.

She aims. She fires.

Roberta makes a movement. ¿Qué sucederá?

Cuando Me Enamoro #180 Wednesday 1/4/12 Au-gre finally falls to his death... love is in the air, on the food, at the church, etc... but one last move by evil ones might spoil the cheese, i mean, the happy ending

Recap By Marta Ivett
We left last evening with Jeronimo totally worn out and wounded looking like a Jesus Christ in a wet suit, on his knees, with Au-gre behind him ready to decapitate him with one final swing of his sword… Renata pleading hopelessly for Jero’s life… Matt totally exhausted and in pain, Anibal too upset/shocked…
But wait! Jeronimo gathers enough energy to bend down and make Au-gre miss his swing! Then Jero grabs the sword and from a very weird angle over his shoulder is able to use the time Au-gre takes to back-swing his sword again to cross Au-gre through the belly… funny thing the sword through Au-gre’s back is clean as a whistle… Could Au-gre not have blood in him at all? But he is spitting blood…
We have more effect where the whole frame around them is basically frozen with Anibal sad but also relieved, Au-gre laying on the floor (NO BLOOD ON FRONT OF HIS SHIRT) of the ship and Nata hugging and crying along with Jero… Nata telling Jero over and over again that she loves him very much.
Days later, at La Bonita, Jero is waking to kisses by Nata… they are extremely happy to wake up together… best part of the day, seeing your pretty face… lets do this forever… they reminisce on the last few days being tough… lets think of something nicer… want to have boy or girl?... and baby names: Nata wants boy. Jero wants anything as long as healthy and happy with us… Jero would like to name it Rafael if it is a boy… Nata says Gonzalo Rafael (NOOO!!!) if girl, lets name her (Jero says Gonzalo is too much name…) .. just Regina… strong but sweet.. its my mom’s name… Jero adds that it is Nata’s true name… the real name of my princess… smooches…
Anibal is bringing flowers to Au-gre’s grave… appologizes but he did not agree with what Au-gre was planning to do. So he had to help prevent it even if Au-gre was his dad.. would have liked for things to have been different between us, but your selfishness and ambition made you lose everything. None of what you said will last.. government took all your assets, there won’t be any memory of yours around here… you lived such a pointless empty life… goodbye father…
To texmex banda music, Carlos and Mati are having lunch … Carlos is loving Ensenada’s views, people and food… he loves the lobster tacos from Puerto Nuevo (what a beautiful place for lunch!! I want to be there right now!!). Carlos proposes to Mati again… she accepts again.. .love you so much… she confesses she never thought she would fall in love with him. She thought he was a bland guero. She wants to get married right away. They will go see Padre Seve right away.
At park Gonzo and Matias all dressed up in suits are enjoying popsicles and reminiscing when Matt was a boy and he used to gobble on popsicles. Then Matt gets REALLY cheesy saying he is very proud of having Gonzo as his dad. Gonzo says its love. There are bonds stronger than blood itself, the bonds of love. Gonzo says having Matt was a blessing in his life…  they vow their love for each other. Matt says nothing would make him happier than having his own son feel as proud of him as he feels for Gonzo. Gonzo says it will be so. He is so proud of Matt, MR through and through… Matt says proud to be.
At a restaurant, Hono and Connie’s turn… Hono says love you.. kiss… he is fortunate to have her. When she was in jail or distracted by the baby, he felt crazy as if he was losing her… he wants her that she is his life… ever since he saw her he fell in love with her and it has not changed at all with time. Connie confesses she always feared that because she could not have kids she could lose him. He says that would never have occurred. he does not need anything other than her. Especially now that Adri is in their lives. Connie says she would have wanted to be a mom but his presence in her life is enough for her to feel a complete woman. Love you. kiss…
At La Bonita kitchen, Lazaro and Kari come back from seeing their house in construction. Alfonsina comes in with baby in arms, she is crying to see them happy, she can’t help but miss Ezeq… Manuela says its not strange. They did have a good marriage despite the ups and downs. Alfo says it gives her peace to realize Ezeq was a good man, she still loves him even if he is not around anymore. Lazaro confirms Ezeq was a great man. Wherever he is he still loves her and his children. Alfo feels bad for having doubted him… she could not have married a better man.
Somewhere in a ladies room Berta is nagging/whining with Pepa… Pepa says be patient, just wait until we have the money and we can leave. Pepa asks her to ask Regina to organize a huge birthday party for her and Nata… Berta says not in mood for big birthday bash… Pepa says you will have to be… because that will be last time you see her (Nata). Berta turns around and seems a bit taken aback by pepa’s plan.
At church, Marina tells Padre Seve she already requested transfer to work at Ensenada with the doctor (I think Solorzano is the O.B. that is attending her pregnancy). Padre Seve is glad she will stay close by to him. She says its partly for you, so I and the kids will be close to you. Padre celebrates it, family is the biggest treasure anyone could have.
Jero and Nata tell Anibal and Allison that they will pay for their college education as long as they decide on a career and put their best effort to it. Jero is kissy kissy while Nata is trying to speak. Allison says she is beginning to heal from the anorexia. Allison says this place is magic. Jero says places are not magic, it is the people who live there… Anibal is thankful to them for helping the son of the man who hurt them so much. Jero and Nata don’t want to hear about that…
Nata says you are you, and you helped rescue me, to be with my hero now… he is Dartag’nan!
Group hug!!!
Carlos and Mati are seeing Padre Seve about marrying them, how about Friday, Padre says that is same day of Alfonsina’s daughter Luz’ christening… ok, Friday there will be wedding and christening all at once… happy Carlos and Mati hum the wedding march…
At jail, Antonio is visiting Alvaro.. Alvaro is putting together a recovery group of alcoholic men there. Antonio says don’t give up, some of them will give up some will benefit… keep it up.
Alvaro joins his group, he admits to them that he is alcoholic, even though he used to be a doctor with a brilliant career and loyal patients…
They are inaugurating the ‘nadie se rinde’ center FINALLY!! … this was a long time coming!
Berta congratulates Regina on the inauguration… proud of you, you are a great woman and I am proud to be your daughter… (hugs her but Berta puts a disgusted face away from Gina)…
Julieta tells Matt and Adri that Chema’s dad is sending her to the bakery course in Paris for 6 mos, the same course Chema was going to take. She invites Matt and Adri to visit there sometime.
Berta has told Gina and Gonzo about wanting a huge party for her and Nata’s 25th bday… it will be first time we celebrate it together. Gonzo and Gina are all for it.
Meanwhile somewhere in a wig and hat store, Pepa is thinking to herself that this time they won’t escape her vengeance.. even if she has to enter the wolf’s den to do it. Can’t wait for my daughters’ bday bash…
Days later…
Wedding and christening day… everyone very happy… nata has a simple but gorgeous red dress. Marina is showing a decent belly, with a bright yellow dress, both women look great. Jero loves having them both in good terms. They talk about Alfonsina and kari finally over their diffferences and are great friends again. Padre Seve says just like the two of you… friends finally despite the unconventional relationship among the three of you… Jero is proud of both of them. Padre says tolerance is a great virtue to master… both have accepted that love is the greatest union possible.
Adri and Matt are talking about their own wedding… a palm reader comes by and predicts a perfect loving future for them even if they both were scared to let her read their hands… she says they are ‘twin souls’.
Matt tells Adri that what he feels for her does not fit in his chest. Love you my little princess. Love you too my mustached teddy bear… CUTE…
At Hono/Connie’s… they are talking about Berta, Connie says her asking for the birthday bash proves that she is teamed up with Fina. Hono says the investigator told them that Berta even has bought a plane ticket to switzerland the day after she gets her money… Connie asks about Pepa… chances are they will leave the country together… Gina is sure the police will stop Fina at the airport. Gonzo says will be a big blow on Berta to know we are tricking her. Gina is still hopeful Berta will confess before its too late. Hono says don’t count on it, she has a tough heart. You will never see a noble gesture from her.
Pepa is trying on a fake beard / mustache.. .is she trying for a job as the bearded woman at a circus?... she says she will stop being Fina to be Izakuri!! LOL!!
The birthday bash day is here… the carp is set with the tables and chairs and stage…  Fina has a bright purple tofee candy wig on… Nata and Jero are joking around and running around happy… Fina is thinking ‘we will see how long this happiness lasts you Renatita…’
Nata and Jero enter the MR house to meet up with Gina and Gonzo… Gonzo is awed by Nata and Jero’s looks.. hugs and kisses all around…  Gina and Nata are so excited this day has arrived. Gonzo and Nata get cheesy.. thank you for everything you did for me, having adopted me… It is me the one thankful for the blessing… Gina has to break the moment saying it would be a great moment if it were not for Berta’s issue. Gonzo says they still hope Berta will meet up with Fina before they leave the country so they can catch her. Nata suggests they tell Berta the truth. Gonzo is not so sure, they don’t know how she will react. It would be a heavy risk due to Fina being involved and Berta putting her on notice. Nata insists Berta could be a victim. Jero doubts it, he thinks Berta is very aware of what she is doing. Nata reminds him she lived with Berta many years… she still has the hope against hope. Gina agrees with Nata. She thinks Berta deserves one last chance… Gonzo asks what do they have in mind. Nata says to tell Berta the truth, that would be her last chance… then it would not have been on our account. Gonzo insists it is a heavy risk, but if that is what your mother and you want, we will talk to Berta tonight after the party.
At Connie/Hono’s the two ladies are driving Hono crazy… Adri asks Connie to let her call her mom (it was not to borrow a necklace as Connie thought at first) … her mom will always have a special place in her heart but so does Connie so… Connie says ok with one condition, if you let me call you ‘hija’… Hono just sighs and says ‘you will make me cry now’… you both look beautiful.
Nata and Gina in bedroom, Gina gives Nata her (Nata’s) ‘R’ dije (necklace)… Nata asks why do you have my ‘dije’. Gina says it was one of the ‘evidence’ items Pepa sent her. Nata says it is so important for me. Gina tells Nata that Roberto designed them himself. Shows her the mark/signature on the R. He gave it to you on your first birthday… I love you ‘hija’… Did you say I love you.. what? … Nata insists on hearing the last word again… Gina repeats… Nata happy ‘love you love you so much!’ … that is, until the door opens with Berta questioning ‘why do you call her hija and why was Nata calling you ‘mama’?’ … sounds like the conversation with Berta will not be after the party but NOW. (credits)

Cuando Me Enamoro #179 Tuesday 1/3/12 HEADLINE! THREE AMATUER COMMANDOS ACCEPT MISSION IMPOSSIBLE ASSIGNMENT

-->
Dateline: Ensenada, Mexico
Present time: Preantepenultimate Episode
Live Feed to Caray Caray Newswire

Jeronimo Linares, Matias Monterubbio and Anibal Linares have accepted the apparently impossible assignment of attempting to rescue Renata de Gamba Monterubbio de Linares from a shrimp boat off the Pacific coast of Mexico. Renata, 24 and pregnant with her first child, was kidnapped yesterday by a gang of several men in a terrifying ambush on the road from Tijuana airport to Ensenada. According to eyewitnesses, the attack left Renata drugged and taken by unknown henchmen to a waiting shrimp-boat trolling in International waters off the Baja California Coast.
Anibal, the young driver of the vehicle in which Renata was riding was dragged from the truck and shot in the leg with an automatic weapon. Two other young women known as Alison (a minor) and Adriana were terrorized by the kidnappers but left unharmed.

Shockingly, television cameras were actually able to catch the live action as it happened on board the Buenaventura VI shrimp boat. The wood-hulled Buenaventura VI, valued at three and a half million pesos, measures 98 feet in length and has an output of 300 horsepower. She has a huge freezer for storing shellfish.

Renata was delivered unconscious to the boat where wanted fugitive Augustin Dunant was waiting on-board. Dunant, who is suspected of involvement in multiple dirty-dealings and homicides, received her unconscious form with an unwelcome kiss and had her placed below decks in a small cabin. Upon awakening, Renata found herself in a lower bunk of an unfamiliar and smelly boat but she was unbound and able to make her way around the cabin, exploring possible means of escape. There were none.

Miraculously, as Renata explored her prison she discovered a plastic sleeve enclosed image of the La Virgen de Guadalupe taped underneath the top bunk of the cabin and after multiple plaintive “Por Favors” the Virgin answered Sra Linares’ prayers. and, back on-shore, the rescue mission was planned and put in place.
The hastily made plan appeared simple but was complicated in its execution. Monterubbio, stepbrother of the kidnapped woman, Linares, and Anibal Linares, the young driver who was injured in the ambush and the natural son of Dunant, all took part in both the surveillance and active operations of the attempted rescue. In addition to Anibal’s leg wound Linares went into he rescue effort injured—with a battered appearing face and probable broken ribs due to an earlier attack by Dunant’s henchmen. Some at Televisa questioned Linares’ fitness for the role, but as the main protagonist in this telenovela, the job was his to refuse.. Presumably, Linares’ ribs were taped-up by his ex-lover, Marina, a physician who is also pregnant with twins by Linares.

Back on the Buenaventura VI, as Augustin Dunant is moving in on Renata he is observed drawing air sharply into his nose with a sort of “sniff”. According to Dr. Elna Jung Freud, a psychologist who has never treated Dunant, Augustin may have a serious problem with cocaine abuse or, more likely, may be suffering from “snifferous odorus underwearus” an inevitably fatal form of obsessive-compulsive disorder focused on Renata Linares.

In addition to his obsessive relationship with Sra Linares, Sr Dunant is also obsessed with his fencing swords. Sure enough, Augustin has thought to bring a pair of these aboard the Buenaventura VI, fencing being such a common activity performed on ones shrimp boat.
File by your girl reporter on the scene, EJ.

Our reporters were also covering the action on shore at the Hacienda La Bonita. The Kitchen Cabinet of La Bonita—Laz, Kari, Manuela, Mati, and Alfonsina—were convened. All want to find out about Renata—and they want to know the truth abut what happened to Ezekiel. Just at that moment Melesio is brought in (unwillingly) to the living room at La Bonita. The Kitchen Cabinet runs into la sala to see a shocked Melesio as he is confronted a bruised but still standing Jero! Jero asks if Melesion is surprised to see him alive. All in the room confront Melesio about Augustin’s dirty plans—Where is Augustin holding Renata??? Alfonsina said he has Renata on a ship. Gonzo, Matias and Regina chime in to tear Mel a new one. Regina just wants him to tell her where her daughter is! Melesio claims he doesn’t know. Of course no one believes him and they retrieve his cell phone from his pocket—this is how he communicates with Auguie. There is a ray of hope! Melesio finally says that he is supposed to get some documents to Augustin so he can leave the country. Lazaro takes Melesio out and secures him while Jero to Regina that he will find Renata.

On board the Buenaventura VI nights falls as Regina prays desperately for help in her cabin while Augue enjoys a self-congratulatory glass of wine on the deck of the ship.
Next day, en la sala, the handsome investigator has something new to tell the group. There is a boat that Dunant may be on (I am still going to call it the Buenaventura VI). However pinpointing the location of the boat may be very difficult. And another problem! When the boat is international waters nothing can be done by the Mexican police. It looks like our heroes may have to go commando and take matters into their own hands.

Out in the barn, where Melesio is being held, Lazaro is interrogating him when Alfonsina saunters in dressed in her high boots and camisole dominatrix outfit. Melesio, that lying dog, claims he knows nothing about Ezekiel’s demise. Alfonsina (whom I suspect may have worked her way through Ag University as a part-time guide to S&M) screams “Habla!” as she slaps Melesio hard across the face. Seeing Alfonsina’s avenging fury and knowing that she is armed with testimony from Dr. Nesme, Melesio spills the beans. He claims he-himself-personally didn’t have anything to do with Zeke’s death, but Don Augustin witnessed everything. Everyone is muy impactada.

Jero is in the living room with Regina, Adri, Matias and Gonzo when the guys and Alfonsina drag in Melesio in the house. Jero plans on contacting his ‘folks’ in Ensenada and in the Cost Guard to find Augustin and Renata. The investigator takes his leave. Now Laz tells Jero that Melesio confessed that Ezekiel was murdered by Augustin. Alfonsina explains that ‘Zeke knew many things’ (about Augustin’s behavior) and for this he was murdered. Jere, who still has Melesio’s phone in his shirt pocket sees that at this very moment Augustin is calling. He tells Mel to take the call and not give anything away. Augustin confirms that he is sending his guys to meet Mel and get the documents he is expecting to Pier Five on the embarcadero in Ensenada in two hours.

But wait! Our cameras on board the Buenaventura VI caught the action between Sra. Linares and her captor, Sr Dunant. When Dunant came to Sra Linares cabin he asked her why she had not changed clothes. She asked why she would change and Dunant answered, “For me! So that you always look beautiful. Look, here is your favorite perfume.” He sniffs the bottle and tosses it on the bed. Renata, with a disgusted look on her face throws the dresses back in Dunant’s face. “Enough of your tantrums!” Dunant tells Renata. “You will put them on!” “What if I don’t want to (change)?” asks a still defiant Renata! “Do not force me, my love!” screams Dunant. “You will not like it, not later!” he threatens.

On shore in Ensenada, Jero has contacted the Coast Guard and they think they can track and locate Augustin’s boat with their GPS systems. Jeronimo, the handsome Inspector, Gonzo, and Matias, set up a system to spy on Melesio as he receives docs in a manila envelope. They check out the docs and see that Augustin is pretending that Renata is his wife!

Carlos and Anibal meet Jero and Matias on the dock as a small motorboat comes in to dock. When they tell Carlos and Anibal what is going on Anibal proclaims, “My father has no limits!” Melesio meets the launch coming in from the sea and gives the sailors Augustin’s documents (passports). They get back in the launch and had out to the shrimp boat after making sure they have everything. But wait! Our cameras caught sight of Anibal stowing away on the little launch. O my!

On board Buenaventura VI, Auguie is drinking wine as Renata comes in dressed in the new red silk dress. She asks Augustin to let her go. He says no. She tells him she hates him—he says he prefers her hatred to her indifference. When he steps out of the room for a moment Renata sees the telephone left on the table, tries to make a call and gets only a voice mailbox. Augustin, hearing the phone beep, comes back into the room, grabs Renata, turns her around and gives her a tremendous slap across the face. “You are not going to leave my side”, he says. “Then kill me”, says Renata.

Auguie’s henchmen sailors go back to the Buenaventura VI to take the passports back to Augustin. Augustin comes back into the galley and asks a ragged-looking Renata, “Perdoname.” But Renata is not happy and she walks away from Dunant holding her belly. Back on the embarcadero Jero sends Carlos, Gonzo and the dirtbag Melesio to the authorities where Melesio is told to spill his guts. Matias and Jero meet with the Coast Guard authorities who invite them to go on the coast guard boat to locate the Buenaventura VI and Dunant.

Meanwhile Renata grasps on to her sweet memories of Jero. “All will be well”, she tells the baby in her belly and herself as she puts her face in her hands. She continues to hold her belly as the coast guard guys speed toward the shrimp boat.

Augustin is back in Renata’s cabin telling her that, “Now we start our new life as husband and wife as he fondles the false passports. He tries to kiss Renata and she turns away with a mumbled, “Don’t touch me.” After examining the passport Renata says that she is not Fina’s daughter nor is she Augustin’s wife, when she spots Anibal behind Augustin! QTH! After seeing Anibal Renata tries to distracts Augustine by apologizing to Dunant while Anibal hides somewhere in the engine room of the boat. Anibal begins pulling apart wires to damage the boat’s engine. After a very short time Anibal is caught in the engine room by a sailor—O no!

Now Jero and Matias pull on wet suits (trajas de neopreno) leave the Coast Guard vessel and board a tiger-striped tiny zodiac boat to come toward the Buenaventura. Meanwhile, while Augustin is babbling to Renata about how they are going to travel the world, Anibal is dragged by the accosting sailor in front of Augustin and Renata. Anibal, in the manner of most teenagers, chooses this inopportune time to confront Augustin in front of Renata with the news that he has proof that Augustin tried to get his Mother to abort him. Renata is appalled but as this very moment the Coast Guard calls and tells Augustin’s crew that they have them located on GPS. Augustin orders the crew to make for international waters as sailors drag Renata and Anibal up onto the deck. Augustin grabs a sword —one of a pair he happens to have hanging in the galley.

Jero and Matias jump off the Zodiac about a half-mile from the Buenaventura VI, and swim toward to shrimp boat while Auguie menaces Anibal with the saber he is now wielding. Impulsively, Anibal picks this time to confront Augustin about how he treated Ani’s mom, with the info that he has the check signed by Auguie for a abortion. Renata is witness to all of this. Auguie screama at Anibal and cuts his face with the tip of the sword while Jero and Matias, reach the deck of the shrimp boat after their long swim (QTH) by climbing the anchor chain. Pretty slick commando behavior, I say. Jero comes upon a bad guy trying to attack Matias and tips him overboard. Good guys one, bad guys minus one but Anibal and Renata are still in BIG trouble.

Renata pleads for Anibal’s life while Auguie slowly stabs Anibal in the chest with a sword. Matias locks several bad guys in the engine room and then fights with the captain while Augie spies Jeronimo as he calls out “Dunant!” Augustin attacks the unarmed Jero him with his blade.

Renata remembers the second hanging sword in the galley, grabs it and runs to give the sword to Jero. Anibal is now attacked by a bad guy with a gun, whom Matias then tips overboard. Matias is the real commando here; he is everywhere at once!

Augustin chases Jero and strikes him two blows—one in the right front shoulder where he had the ugly injury from being beaten nearly to death by Auguies’s bad guys. As he tries to escape Dunant, Jero is dealt a terrible slash on the back of his right shoulder. Renata reaches Jero and gives him the second sword. Jero and Augie continue to fight. There is nothing romantic about this sword fight. Jero looks like he is having a hard time holding on to the grip of his sword as the fighters thrust and parry, advance and retreat while Jero bleeds copiously from his various wounds. Augustin is clearly the better fighter here and he is not injured. Soon he scores a terrible sword slash that knocks the sword from Jero’s hand. Augustin shoves his thumb into Jero’s right shoulder wound and Jero drops his sword. Augustin goes in for the kill but Jero recovers his sword and begins fighting left-handed! .” Matias nurses a smashmouth from several violent hand-to-hand fights and watches helplessly as across the boat Augustin’s stunt-double jumps up and with a tremendous martial arts high-kick to Jeronimo’s jaw knocks him to the ground.

Jero falls to his knees in front of an insane Auguie who raises his sword overhead as if he is going to smash a helpless watermelon or decapitate the now-helpless Jeronimo Linares. Renata pleads, “Augustin, Augustin”, as the sword heads in on a perfect arc for Jero’s neck.

Cue the music. “Cuando me enamoro…” Yep, that’s where they left us. Lordy, lordy is this a cliff-hangar.

The avances are the same as they have been the last couple of days. I’m not going to talk about them because they are too close to being spoilers!

Cuando Me Enamoro #178 Monday 1/2/12 "Shrimp Boats Is a Comin', There's Dancin' Tonight"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMtKQd4TKi4S

I can’t help myself! I have had this old Jo Stafford tune from the 1950’s running through my head since Sylvia identified the boat as likely a shrimp boat. The song refers to a shrimp boat with sails but the photos confirm the questionable luxury where Augie has planned his delusional romantic conquest of Renata.

Review from Friday: Padre Sev worries about his modern family, Roberta plans her new independence in Europe with Mama Fina when they are able to cash her dandy check, Regina and Adriana arrive at the airport Anibal and Alison greet them under watchful eyes then Anibal goes for the truck. Jero worries about cleaning up before Renata sees him so Sabina goes for soap. In the car on the way Renata talks to Carlos and then Jero about meeting up at La Bonita or wherever she needs to go to see her husband this very day. They talk sweetly about their love, the coming baby and their plans for living happily ever after, when a flying black pickup truck changes everything. Anibal swerves off the road in response to the truck which turns into a special chauffeur job that Augie planned to get Renata to her honeymoon on the shrimpyloveboat. Augie’s henchmen drive off with Renata leaving a traumatized Alison and Adriana in the back seat and a wounded Anibal on the ground. Jero begins screaming that something happened with the connection so Carlos calls Renata’s number again. The traumatized youngsters decide to answer Renata’s cell phone. Adriana tells Carlos that Augie’s men hijacked the truck and escaped with Renata. An injured Jero is determined to ignore his ham sandwich face and broken ribs and pursue Augie to rescue his beloved.

At La Bonita Matilde and Alfonsina scream about the abduction and leave Manuela (with all the children I assume) to encounter the white truck victims before rushing off to the police station to tell them what they know.

Augie gets word on his shrimp boat that his special delivery is on her way. He smiles with satisfaction at his brilliant plans.

Adriana calls Gonzo and Regina on Renata ‘s phone to tell them what has happened.

Honorio hears from Gema that she will continue to invest HER money in Empresas Monterubbio even though German will be out of the picture. Hon and Mat determine that Roberta can’t be trusted to ever work at EM again. NO….S….. Sherlock.

Mat gets the call from Adriana about the abduction and just like that the whole family knows the latest when it used to take them months to communicate half as much.

Somehow, Alfonsina and Matilde have arrived at the scene jumped into to the ambulance in time to accompany an officer, with Adriana, Alison and the injured Anibal to the police station or hospital. (the editing is a bit choppy but we get it all done). Adriana tells what happened to Renata and Alfonsina assures the officer that she will tell all she knows to the police that Melecio told her about Augie’s cruise plans. The officer swears Augie will not be able to escape them. Which practically assures he is home free and they won’t be able to outrun his nuclear powered shrimpcruiser.

At the villa de bolas, Mat rushes in to collect Gonzo so they can go to the airport Regina cries but sees to go with them for the fastest tele-transported trip to the Baja ever.

Adriana talks with the investigator at warp speed bringing him up on the dastardly deeds of Augie. Alfonsina then declares that she has information from the foreman of La Cruz de Desamor that Augie has left his vineyard for the high seas.

Roberta arrives and screams for service from Panchita who tells her everyone left to rescue Renata. Roberta calls Augie who assures her that she won’t hear from Renata again. Thank god for that, now she is out of her way she responds then tells him the family already knows that Renata has been nabbed. We see Renata’s unconscious body brought onto the boat. Roberta screams more at poor Panchita. If Roberta has such a way with people, perhaps she should try human resources next? Well, maybe after she is miraculously redeemed? Any bets?

Marina shows up at Padre Sev’s and learns from Antonio about said Renata’s abduction. Finally she is thinking clearly and is worried that Augie will do Renata harm. They leave to go meet the injured Jero at La Bonita.

Anibal, in an examination gown seated on the exam table with Alison learns that even though he was just grazed and not really hurt or dead, the doctor assures him that he has to make a declaration with the police since all cases involving firearms the hospital must be reported to the police too. Anibal wants to rush out to rescue Renata while Matilde assures him that the declaration will help the police get to Renata sooner.

Gonzo, Regina, Adriana and Mat discuss events in the La Bonita Adri is updating Honorio on the phone when the guys bring in a limping Jeronimo. They all try to get him to bed while discussing the action plan to rescue Renata. It takes all of them to get him into his room.

Gonzo and Mat discuss that surely this animal won’t hurt Renata like he did Jeronimo. And they all liked him for so long. The masks have all dropped.

Pay attention, amigos, tonight we get one and only one sweet momentary reprieve. Kari gets to tell Lazaro that she has news, and not bad news but what they have been dreaming of. While he is nervous as a cat, she holds her belly and he guesses her news as she tells they will have a baby. He does his famous cry that we all knew he would and talks with cupped hand that he is greetings to this baby. He is his Papa calling through Kari’s stomach. He is talking to his son (hijo). She says maybe it’s a girl (nena). They laugh in delight. Okay, sweet moment is over, back to the salt mines! There is suffering to endure here!

Regina tenderly cleans his face while talking with Jero. Regina tells him she now knows Renata is her true daughter and how joyful it was to tell Renata and see her reaction. He wishes he could have seen the mother and child reunion. He reveals that he knew Roberta was a fake and he knew that Roberta was Augie’s lover. He adds that she needs to tell Gonzo because he is sure that Roberta knows what Augie has done with Renata.

The old sniffer is at work, preferring his women unconscious. It’s like old times. Renata jerks away from him as soon as she is comes to. He tells her that now she is his and they will go off together. He screams and they fight she has always found him kind and can’t believe the nice guy is gone. He swears he has never lost control and has demonstrated his undying love. She shirks off his advances

Gonzo hears from Jero that Roberta has to be questioned if they are to find out where Augie has gone with Renata. She surely knows. They plan to call her.

Augies continues to plant his rancid kisses on Renata and assure her that she will get used to his idea since there is no alternative. (Ick, this conversation was so disgusting.) But Renata realizes that Augie is talking about Jero being dead and her being an available widow (viuda) so she might as well begin to accept his icky advances. Her future is with him. She says you want my body? You can take my body but my heart and soul will always belong only to Jeronimo. Apparently Augie only transmits but doesn’t receive since he only recoils an inch from her slaps but continues trying to turn her on with his winning masculine ways. Renata hugs a picture of the Virgin de Guadalupe and prays to her for a solution out of this trap.

Roberta gets ready to get into bed when Honorio and Constanza enter her bedroom. She tries to kick them out using her nasty sense of righteous indignation. They reach Gonzo on the cell phone so he can ask Roberta to tell them where Renata is. She insists she doesn’t know. Gonzo reveals that they know that she is or was Augie‘s lover. She swears she didn’t tell Augie anything including that Renata was going back to the Baja, and she has no idea where Renata could be now. How could he believe that she could do such a thing. She plays indignation with such flair. He adds that Adriana says they ran into her with their suitcases so she must have guessed and told Augie. What does that have to do with anything and how could her Papa believe Adriana over her. Hon says his daughter is a lot more believable on all fronts that Roberta is. She isn’t giving in an inch and neither are Hon and Con. Gonzo back at La Bonita isn’t too satisfied with this standoff either.

Antonio and Marina arrive at La Bonita. Marina offers to take Jero’s blood pressure and assess whether he has a temperature perhaps needing an antibiotic. Regina is glad for the medical attention. They all leave Jero’s bedroom so Marina can examine him.

Augie has had time to bring great wine on board. So he dines on shrimp? thinking how clever he is and how Renata will cave to his demands.

Augie comes into Renata’s tiny cabin with a tray of food which Renata throws to the floor. The gloves are off and Augie informs her she will have to get over her annoyance or it’s tough (jaringarse) sooner so later she will comply with his fantasy.

Roberta calls Fina to complain about her Papa’s unjust accusation. Fina thinks it is great that Augie has taken Renata off their hands so she won’t have to finish Renata off herself. Check one more annoyance off the list. Something tells me that Fina and we all know that Roberta isn’t ready to meet Mom on an adult to adult level…

Carlos, Mat and another helper arrive to grab Melecio at the cantina while he waits for Alfonsina who seems to be late for their dinner date. They guys take him into custody with a minimum of fuss. He just looks confused about why Alfonsina isn’t there.

Laz arrives in the living room and is brought up to date on Marina arrival and the examination in Jero’s room. Anibal swears to all present that he is totally with them and wants to help bring Augie to justice in any way he can aid them.

Marina tells Jero she feels responsible for his beating and for Renata’s disappearance when she found out that Augie used her via Saul. She tells Jero that she and Renata have found friendship when they were working together to rescue him. And she wants to assure him that she realizes now what her role is and that of her children. She tells him that she will never use her children against him again but wants them to know him and respect him. He call her not only a good woman but a great woman. (Maybe he is sketching plans for an episode of Modern Family here.)

Renata finds her cabin door unlocked so goes exploring first below deck then climbs up. Arriving on deck in the dark, she scans far out at sea while creepster Augie asks her if she got bored being in her cabin. He points out the obvious that she is far out to sea and there is no escape so she might as well go back to her bed for the night. He assures her that there is no option but him and there is no more manly man than him. She pushes past him with a disgusted gesture of rejection but he grins in the night as her turns to black and white.

I guess this is my last recap on this racing paced story. It sure has been a fun ride. I will watch with bated breath for the next 4 nights with all of you. Feliz año nuevo y buenas noches, amigos mios.

Cuando Me Enamoro #177 Friday 12/30/11 The end is near but our villains refuse to give up without a fight.

They pulled a fast one on us, queridos! This seems like a sleepy little episode but then they pulled the rug right out from under us. Vámonos!

Reviewing from yesterday, Lazaro and Carlos find Jero at Sabina's home. They waste no time in getting on the phone with Nata. Jero rouses at the sound of her voice and he thinks of all the good times they've shared together. Nata cries that Jero has to survive for her sake and for the sake of their baby. "I love you and all I want is to be near you," Jero mutters.

Melesio the foreman/bearded hitman hides in the bushes as the police grill hacienda workers at Cruz de Desamor. The feds eventually question Mel and warn him about withholding information.

Augie sits on a boat and sharpens his swords. Overcompensating for something, Augie? He muses that no one can accuse him of any crime while in international waters. Then he slices a watermelon in half to prove how manly he is.

Jero stirs and opens his eyes. Nata is overcome with tears of joy as she promises to fly out immediately so she can stay by his side. Gonzo, Regina, and Adriana get a little teary-eyed themselves at the good news and there's hugs all around. Nata thanks the Virgin for sparing Jero's life.

Jero sits up in confusion. He has no memory of how he ended up bleedy in the bottom of a riverbank. Carlos prods Jero to try harder and suddenly the memories come flooding back. Jero met with Saul at a restaurant in the pueblo. Saul tricked Jero into going with him to the church, where Melesio and a gang of thugs jumped Jero. They chloroformed him, drove him out to the country, and beat him senseless.

Lazaro thinks that the workers at Augie's hacienda must believe that Jero is dead. He suggests they keep it a secret that Jero is still alive just in case they might try to finish the job.

Back in La Ciudad, Honorio and Matias have a conference call with Gonzo. Fina keeps slipping through their fingers but they still have hope of catching her. Gonzo and Regina are prepared to go to the bank so that they can finalize the inheritance but she is far too anxious to worry about that now. Jero is her priority. They work it out that Adriana and Nata will catch the first plane available and Regina and Gonzo will leave the next morning. "This nightmare is almost over and soon the sun will shine on all of us." Gonzo promises. ("Esta pesadilla está a punto de terminar, pronto el sol brillará para todos").

Matilde and Manuela are overjoyed to hear that Jero was found alive. It's a miracle! Karina rushes in to tell the ladies about another miracle: she's pregnant! Qué milagro! A baby in the hacienda that isn't Jero's!

Alfonsina pours the charm on for Melesio and wheedles information out of him. He admits to having dumped Jero's body down the riverbank.

Nata and Adriana pack their bags and Regina runs back upstairs to grab some paperwork Nata forgot. Berta strolls in and the ladies keep mum about where they're going. Nata and Berta exchange some tense words but Nata wins this round. "I believe in destiny and I believe everyone receives what they deserve." ("Creo en el destino y yo creo que cada quien recibe lo que se merece"). Adriana chimes in and calls Berta trashy (Esa basura apesta - That garbage stinks).

Regina runs into Berta and asks her to come to the bank with Gonzo so they can finalize the inheritance. Berta can't wait to sign on the dotted line so she can get outta there.

Gonzo, Honorio, and Matias plot how to bring about Fina's downfall. If their plan fails, Berta and Fina will have won the game. Hopefully the chips will fall in their favor. (La moneda está en el aire y ojalá caiga a nuestro favor).

Berta warns Augie about Nata suddenly leaving the house. Plus, Nata knows that she and he were lovers. Augie juts his jaw about it.

Nata calls Marina, who was assisting with a surgery despite her high-risk pregnancy. Nata passes along the news that Jero is alive. Marina cries tears of relief but she probably cries when they get her order right at Burger King.

Jero's looking a bit better now that he's sitting up and eating soup. He swears he will go to the police and describe the guys who jumped him. Unfortunately, his thoughts are all muddled. He keeps thinking that Nata is the one expecting twins and not Marina. Carlos explains that Marina is expecting twins but Nata is pregnant too. Jero gets teary eyed at the happy news.

Carlos says that Nata knew about her pregnancy on the day of the wedding but when Jero didn't show up, she thought he had run off with Marina. Jero is horrified. "No! She thought I abandoned her? Why would she think that?!" Carlos explains with flashbacks that Saul told everyone at the hacienda that Jero and Marina got on a flight together. Then they found Jero's car at the airport and the passenger list on the plane confirmed that Jero was on the flight.

Augie sits restlessly on his boat and creepily sighs about how much he desires Nata.

At the only bank in Mexico, Luciana officiates the paperwork that certifies that Berta is actually Regina Junior. Berta falls right into Gonzo and Regi's trap. She can barely hide her greed over the check. "Wow! I'm a millionaire!" Berta beams. She wants to buy an apartment and lots of other things. Too bad Berta can't touch the money until after her next birthday. "You weren't in a hurry to have it were you?" Regi asks. Berta squirms and gives an insincere "No".

Fina meets a guy in a darkly lit hallway and he gives her a gun. "Now is your time," Fina thinks. "Now is my final revenge."

Alfonsina tells the hacienda ladies what Melesio told her. She has to do what she has to do to find out the truth about Ezequiel's death.

Anibal and Allison chat as they drive to the airport. She doesn't want him to leave. Ani promises he will stay to be with her. D'aww, they're adorable.

Padre and Antonio get the good news about Jero. Padre isn't thrilled to hear that Nata's returning. She's pregnant by Jero too and this is all too "modern" for his sensibilities.

Berta and Fina congregate in a public restroom. Berta shows off the check and cackles about rolling in the dough. They plan to go to Europe together but Berta warns Fina that their relationship is going to change. Berta will not allow her mother to run her life anymore. "That money has given you such security." Fina smirks. "I learned it from you." Oh, touche, Berta.

Anibal and Allison greet Nata and Adriana at the airport. A nearby car watches as Nata and Adri get in Ani's truck. Meanwhile, Jero asks Lazaro and Carlos to help him clean up before Nata arrives.

Augie gets his evil laugh on as he vows to make Jero insane from jealousy.

Carlos calls Nata while she's on the road and he hands the phone over to Jero. They have nothing but lovely, mushy things to say to each other. Jero gets choked up as he asks Nata if they're going to be parents together. Nata confirms that it's true just in time for a black pick-up truck to swerve in front of Anibal. Everyone screams as Anibal is forced to pull the truck off the road.

Chaos erupts. Thugs start shooting at Anibal's truck. They pull Nata out at gunpoint, chloroform her, and throw her in their truck. A thug drags Anibal out of the driver's seat and knocks him to the ground. Adriana and Allison cower in the backseat as the thug shoots toward where Anibal fell to the ground. The kidnappers take off in the truck with Nata, leaving Adri, Allison, and (hopefully) Anibal behind.

Jero desperately tries to call Nata back. He heard a woman screaming and then the call dropped. Oh, no. We have to wait until Monday to find out what happens next.

Avances for the Gran Final on Friday Jan 6th: "You are not my daughter," Regina says to Berta. "You have no idea how much I hate her!" Berta cries. Nata pleads with Augie to let her go. Nata cries by Marina's bedside in a hospital (uh oh), Fina wears a purple wig and points a gun at Nata. Get ready for this one, amigos!

Cuando Me Enamoro #176 Thursday 12/29/11 A man that studieth revenge keeps his own wounds green.*

*Francis Bacon

Big excitement last night as we were left with the huge revelation to Renata that she is the hija verdadera of Regina Soberon! Renata even has a mini memory of her first birthday with Mama Regina, Abuela Cata and Papa Roberto. How much can this little lady’s heart take? Well, quite a lot actually. You’ll see...

Tonight we get to relive one of telenoveladom’s sweetest scenes ever, culminating in the long-awaited hug between mother and daughter. OMG, this scene made me cry! Twice.

Adri is lunching with Sele for her fact-finding mission. Sele says heck all Adri had to do was ask, she is only too happy to spill the soup...Berta and Ughi are more than accomplices, they are lovers! They are birds of a feather, made for each other, two peas in a pod, whatever (son tal para cual). In fact there hasn’t been a man close to Renata whom Roberta has not taken to bed, the exception being Jeronimo (to Adri’s obvious relief). Sele says she already told this to Jeronimo which surprises Adri. Sele agrees to tell all of this to Renata to prove what an extreme cock...roach Augustin is.

Renata is still stunned as Regina explains how they proved her real identity. Nata loses it, gasping and crying while Gonzo soothes her. When she finally processes the truth we get to see our favorite heroine as happy as she deserves to be. “You are Mi Mama!” she cries, giving Regina one of her world-class hugs. They have a brief mutual love fest but it’s all good, they deserve it. Wow, what a scene, I can’t even describe it but let’s just say I totally believe these actors.

Renata is thrilled and jumps around happily smiling at her REAL mother and the only father she’s ever known. Gonzo thanks God that he has both these wonderful women in his life. Enjoy it now man, because anvils and evil are overhead and around every corner.

Speaking of evil, Malafina’s about to mack down a sandwich in Germy’s hideaway when who should arrive but the eponymous lothario himself. He’s all Who the heck are you and why are you here? Fina throws out “Uh, I’m Berta’s friend just staying at her apartment while she’s out of town.” Germy’s got news, it’s HIS apartment, not Berta’s. Germy says she’s cool for the moment but first thing manana she’s outta there. Fina forgets her glass of wine and goes for the hardstuff while spitting curses at Berta’s estupidez. Right, I always thinks whisky pairs well with a ham and queso sandwich.

Germy leaves but wonders where he’s seen Fina’s familiar face before. He calls Berta and rips her a new one. She’s snips “hey we were supposed to be boinking the weekend away elsewhere.” He announces they are over and she asks “Are you breaking up with me?” (No s**t Sherlock, what did the man just say?) He confirms it and guess what she calls him? “Viejo Estupido!” she hisses, rubbing her achy breaky heart.

Tony brings the handsome investigator over to La Bonita so Carlos can give him the 411 about everything they found on Augustin’s laptop. He says both Augustin and Saul are implicated in Jero’s disappearance and he’ll show them the proof.

Laz is over at Alfonsina’s instructing her to keep her boobies outta Melesio’s face. “He’s not a nice person,” understates Laz. He says he’s got a plan to out Mele and show that Augustin is behind all these pigster events (to use Marta’s perfect description).

The investigator reviews the documents and is surprised they have managed to get us much proof as they have. He’ll hold on to the copies and take care of next steps. At least I think that’s what went on in this scene. Frankly I barely understood a word he said. I wish these young actors would learn to enunciate like the old pros.

Berta, at Casa Monterrubio, calls Fina to tell her she’ll pick her up tomorrow at stupid Germy’s apartment. She’s at the top of the stairs and hears Nata come in talking to Carlos on the phone. They found Saul in Las Vegas who admitted that Augustin is behind Jero’s disappearance. She says that tomorrow they’ll file the complaint against both Augustin and Saul in Baja and she’ll see him then. And be sure to thank Anibal. Roberta scampers away from her hiding place, no doubt to call Ughi, so she doesn’t  hear Nata call Regina mama, heh heh. Gonzo reminds them not to tell Berta about their news so they can catch Berta in her lies. Ha, Nata teases him in her whispery chipmunk voice, agreeing to restrain herself.

We get another “I’m so glad you found me Mami” and “I love you SO MUCH daughter” and big ol’ hug. Those two are going to have to cut that crap out if they want to fool Berta. Aw heck, one more time can’t hurt.

Speaking of Miss SmileOfJaws (sorry Doctor Carlos) she’s on the phone ratting to the rat (not the cute kind) what she just heard. He goes jut-jaw and non-guapo, swearing that before they find him he and Renata will be far far away and nobody, but nobody, will ever find them. Yikes.

Sabina can’t find the phone number for La Bonita so she tells the young guy, I’ll call him Joven, that he’ll have to go to the hacienda personally right now to get Mati and Laz to identify Jero. Thank goodness she feels a sense of urgency. I could hug her.

Manuela is making tostadas for Ali and Ani and wants to know how her appointment went. Ani is chopping onions instead of squash; what happened to all the squash? Ali says she’ll be going to therapy twice a week and Anibal will take her. She’s admitted she has Anorexia which is a big step, but she doesn’t want to tell her parents yet. Apparently they work all day and they’re never home. I think this lack of parental presence is supposed to help explain her illness. She wants to stay at La B forever. Abue finally agrees.

Oh hey, it’s Luciana the only bank manager in MC. Gonzo and Isidro are coordinating with her and the police to set up the sting on Berta and Fina.

Regina calls Ines to tell her how happy she is to finally have her daughter and grandchild next to her.  Her soul is finally at peace but they still have to find Jero. She wants to give Nata all the happiness she deserves. Many words of hope and determination, blah blah blah.

Nata shares her news with Adri who is glad Nata has a true and loving mom after that nightmare of an evil stepmother...horrors! Sele arrives and surprise, she is there to see Renata not Roberta. Oh my, just then Roberta clacks down the stairs and thinks Sele is there to invite Berta to her wedding, LOL! “Actually, I’m here to tell Renata exactly what type of bitch you are,” smiles Sele. Berta commands her to shut up, like that would actually work. Sele tells Nata that after she was engaged to Ughie Berta lured him into her bed. “Shut up, stupid!” yells Berta. Hee, check out all their faces. That was good! Rewindx2.

Laz has told Carlos his plan but we didn’t get to hear it, darn. It involves Alfonsina and it’s risky. Come on, that’s all we get? In the midst of their man hug in walks Joven to tell them Sabina found a dying guy in a ravine and wonders if it’s the same guy they are seeking. He called for both Laz and Mati in his incoherent mutterings.

Berta admits that yes, she and Ughie were lovers and Sele pipes up that Berta tried the nasty with all Nata’s boyfriends and guys who liked her. Sele says she’s glad of the opportunity to tell the truth and unmask the Berta bitch. They tell her Jero also knew about this and Adri gets a little dig in that Jero tried to tell Renata what a creep Ughie is but Nata didn’t believe him. Berta tries to hit Sele but luckily Sele stops her hand, so Berta runs out and calls her guess what? Yep, Estupida!

Carlos shows Joven a foto of Jero and Joven says it could be but the guy’s face is pretty messed up. Sabina saw some guys beat him up and kick him into the ravine. Mati is going nuts right now and Carlos is right behind her. They decide they’d better check out the mystery guy first before calling Renata.

Marina calls Tio Padre to update him about Saul and Evil Ughie. He says he suspected as much based on someone’s confession. Mari has no idea what Ughie did with Jero but they’ve just got to find him.

Nata is driving herself crazy wondering what Ughie did with her husband when Regina comes in the room. Regi is shocked to hear that Berta was boinking Ughie.

Over at EM Germy apologizes to Hons and Matias and says he’ll clear out his office. One thing before he goes though, when he was over at the apartment he met a friend of Berta’s who looked familiar. He just remembered who she is, Fina the ex-mujer of Gonzo. Hons can’t believe it, the police thoroughly searched the apartment. “Even the servant’s room?” asks Germy. Hons asks is Germy completely sure? Yep, and now that he thinks of it he heard Berta on the phone talking to someone she called Mama but he knows it wasn’t Regina. The guys get ready to call the cops but Germy tells them not to bother, she left the apartment this morning. Darn!!! I must admit I’m surprised at Germy for manning up and sharing what he knows with the guys just fired his butt. Are you thinking of that reference letter Germy?

Berta and Fina are set up in a hotel that’s not quite up to Fina’s standards. Beggars can’t be choosers, they didn’t require a credit card deposit or ID. “It’s horrible!” gripes Fina. But enough about Fina, Berta wants to talk about herself, what’s horrible is what Sele did to her, blabbing to Nata that Berta was Ughie’s lover. Berta smugly smiles that at least Renata knows that while Ughie professed love for her he was actually in Berta’s arms. Fina points out Berta has only succeeded in alienating herself further. Nice job Estupida.

At Casa Monterrubio Gonzo, Regina, Nata and Adri talk about Roberta being a bad seed and making her own rotten choices. Gonzo tells them about the upcoming bank sting and he wants Nata to come with them and claim her inheritance. Nata kind of freaks out. She wants to spend 100% of her time and attention on finding Jero and she doesnt’ care about the money, it’s not important. Regina agrees, if it weren’t for the inheritance none of this would have happened. Gonzo calmly says it was her father Roberto’s desire. Renata relents and agrees to go with them that afternoon.

Down in Ensenada the investigator brings the proof against Saul and Ughie to the police station. The guy in charge says he will put an arrest warrant out on Augustin Dunant. Investigator gives him the name of the hotel where Ughie is staying in the DF.

The La B delegation arrives at Sabina’s. They are shocked at Jero’s hamburger face but thank God that Sabina saved him. She tells them some brutes tried to murder him and we get to see the kick-and-dump-the-body scene again. Ouch!

Carlos whispers to Jero, promising they’ll get to the bottom of this. Sabina says he’s still in bad shape because he doesn’t respond, however he occassionally calls for Renata in his delirium. Sabina says only a love as strong as what Jero feels for Renata can save his life. Super Laz has the great idea that maybe if Jero hears Renata’s voice he’ll respond. Ooooh oooh hoo..the theme song agrees that this is a brilliant plan.

A couple of plainclothes cops go to Ughi’s hotel in the DF only to find he’s flown the coop.

Carlos calls Renata and she thanks God and the woman who saved Jero as Carlos fills her in on Jero’s condition. He’s hoping if Jero hears her voice he’ll respond. Renata coos into the phone that she loves him and his child needs him very very much. She urges him to live and never give up. They are going to be parents, she’s expecting a child of their love. He has to fight for his life for her, for his child and all their future children. She reminds him how much they have overcome to be together. She sobs and begs him to wake up. Jero groans and says her name and asks where she is. His eyes are closed but he continues to tell her he loves her and only wants to be next to her. Hooray!!!

Avances: Renata gets kidnapped! Ughie has her trapped on a boat and he swears (again) that nobody will find them. Jero shows up in a wet suit. Looks like there is going to be a sword fight on the high seas. Cool!!! But probably not tomorrow.
