La Candidata 6/5/17 Chapter 4: Alonso and Cecelia Will Work Together
• Hugo visits Emiliano to apologize and explains that he only gave the video to “El Colorado,” who then uploaded it without his permission, but Emiliano still thinks that Hugo betrayed him by giving El Colorado the video in the first place. Emiliano blames Hugo all that has happened since he handed over the video and warns him that he can’t tell anyone about what happened outside of Deborah’s apartment or they will die. Hugo confesses that he’s scared but Emiliano suggests he get used to it because he’s also scared and he did nothing wrong. He also reminds Hugo that Florencia is dead because of him and throws him out of his house. Hugo obliges but cries as he does.
• Gerardo reminds Ignacio that a lot of the congressmen in the Senate are there because of him, so they can’t just ask him to resign, but Ignacio reminds him that alliances are based on trust and he has unfortunately lost the trust of a lot of the politicians in his party. Gerardo refuses as he has worked for his party since he was a teenager and made a name of himself, on top of the fact that his records is spotless and he has had no corruption scandal. Ignacio agrees that he is a good asset to the party but he needs to accept that he has lost their good will. Gerardo chooses to fight and Ignacio laments that things have gotten this bad but he already told him what he needs to say. He goes to leave but Gerardo warns Ignacio that the war has just started, and he should let everyone know, before slamming the door in his face.

La Candidata Miercoles, 5/31/17 Chapter 3 Regina Suspects Her Father Has a Lover
Chapter 3 – Regina suspects her father has a lover
The press surrounds Regina’s car, they are like lions
surrounding their prey ready for the kill. Daniela gets into the car and
apologizes to Regina she had been trying to call her to let her know to go in
thru the back door to avoid the vultures.
Regina asks about Almiro and Daniela confirms he is inside
waiting for her. Daniela tells her to “breathe” as she prepares to emerge from
the car. As she gets out of her car, the reporters go in for the kill and begin
to bombard her with questions about Florencia Oscura.
“What relationship is there between the death of Florencia
and the video that has gone viral on the internet?”
“My son is another victim of this unfortunate event, and it
worries me like all of these unguarded young women. I will continue to work so
this doesn’t happen again”
The mob continues to hound her, not allowing her to get thru
when out of nowhere Gerardo appears and comes to the rescue. He takes over
answering questions defending Regina. He continues and ends the barrage by
stating that the reporters should allow the authorities to continue with the
investigation.
Alonso is in another part of town having just completed a
press conference and asks his assistant Magda and Pacheco “how did I do?”
Pacheco not holding back says “in my opinion, you should
have answered more questions”
“What? So that they could crucify me?”
Magda chimes in and says “next time look directly at the
camera, it makes you appear more truthful”
“See that’s a good critique”
As Alonso tries to retreat, a group of reporters catches up
to him and complains about not being allowed to ask questions.
“What happened to being transparent?”
“Investigate all you want and you will see that my
government is more transparent than water, as far as Florencia Oscura I have
nothing else to say”
Pacheco jumps in and says “press conference is over”

La Candidata Martes, 5/30/17 Chapter 2: Cecelia Fears For Her Life
Apples
rarely fall far from their trees and we have some proof here.
Alonso, Cecelia, and Emiliano all show whose children they are. What
they do in a crisis and how they feel about it will be determining
factors in their lives. Our tale is full of these unfortunates.
Chapter
Two: Cecelia Fears for her Life
Regina
withheld her anger to the best of her ability.
“How
could you think that I had anything to do with the murder of that
girl? Don't you know me? Do you think I could do something like
this?”
“Your
people are involved in this matter. You told me yourself –”
“I
told you that my people investigated.”
“Then
therefore you have to learn to give orders. You might say one thing
and they hear something else.”
“Do
you have proof?”
“That
is in process. I will find out.”

La Candidata Lunes, 5/29/17 Chapter 1: Looking for Guilt
Foreword
After
years of chronicling the lives of the rich and shameless I am still
astonished at how similar they are no matter the country or culture.
The newly rich like Eladio Gomez-Luna will buy their respectability
through the silence and compliance of others. In the end he fell
short of becoming another Gerald Bradley because the latter never
fooled the set who regarded him as an interloper. In the end – if
what I heard about his death was true – he was ultimately unable to
fool himself. Since I no longer practice the faith of my upbringing
I am done speculating on whether he is in Purgatory or elsewhere.
I
have found new examples of the ultimate indulgences of such people.
While there is no Coliseum or Circus Maximus in Mexico City the San
Románs share some of the vices of certain historical personages
echoed by their name. Only modern civil law and my profession have –
thus far – held the line against the rise of a new Caligula or
Nero. I am a latter-day Suetonius, telling tales of hypocrisy,
corruption, and crimes that attempt to defy discovery and go without
punishment. I present my tales to you, my elite readers, that you
may judge these people for who they are.
Sit
back and read at your leisure. At least our wine is better than that
which was consumed by the Caesars.
