Guapos: Monday 8/5/08- "I am Woman, Hear me Roar!"

We start again at the Three Stooges office, where Alejandro is getting the news that once again Connie has seriously undercut their asking price, and another client has been snatched away. The boys just can’t compete with Connie. Al is upset and he goes to share the news with his partners. Rocky and Val are in his office, talking about their upcoming wedding and Lina and Bobby are in the lobby talking about their upcoming wedding. Perhaps if they devoted a little more time to work and less time to socializing they might be doing better, I'm just saying. Al’s not any better, because we all know that if Mili were there, Al wouldn’t be doing any work either.

Back in Guadalajara, Luci is in some sort of talk therapy. She’s discussing how she needs to rescue herself and how painful it is to think of the terrible things she did to her children. The therapist urges her to hug and kiss her kids when she sees them, look them in the eye and tell them that she loves them. This is sure to undo all the ugliness (because she said she did it all for love in the first place---not a big fan of this therapist's approach, but what do I know).

Damian urges Karla to have an abortion. She says no way, it is her body and she’s the one to decide what happens---so papa don't preach, 'cuz she's keeping the baby (I know, not quite the right context for that song title, but let's just roll with it). Damian’s ticked at her ulta-feminist stance. Of course, he thinks the baby is his (and it could be), she thinks he's trying to protect Hugo (whom she thinks is the baby's daddy).....it is just some cooky pregnancy fun, I know I'm laughing.

We are treated to a montage of Luci getting help at the wellness clinic---nutrition info, make-up, talk therapy, later a haircut. We know she’s doing well because we get to see her laughing.

In his office, Connie ponders Rosario’s picture and is shocked that she’s alive. Andrea catches him with the photo (he tried to hide it when she walked in, but did a horrible job). She gets her greedy claws on the picture and rips it up. She tells Connie she’s sick of competing with a ghost and reminds him that she’s the one who’s alive. Andrea storms out and Connie mumbles that Rosario’s alive, too. He calls his private detective and tells him he’s got a new job for him (this guy must be on permanent retainer).

Peralta and some other white guys are having a lunch meeting. They talk about the party and some Connie gossip (you know women get a bad rap as gossipers, but this just goes to show, men are as bad, if not worse, when it comes to gossip). One of them brings up how there is a rich widow wanting to give money to the party. Her name is Rosela Dillano and she’s a Mexican who’s been living in Italy for many years. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who this is, even if you didn’t see the previews for this episode. Said woman shows up. The men gush over her and the tight dress she’s wearing. They talk about the party and Constancio. Peralta says Connie’s not a viable candidate for party leader because he’s got some scandalous rumors floating around---like he’s got a daughter that he doesn’t recognize, she’s the product of a relationship Connie had with some servant he knocked up years ago and now he’s got the kid working in his house as a servant. Rosela knows immediately that her dead kid must be alive, because she rightly assumes it is her child he’s talking about. Rosela excuses herself from the meeting…..but before she goes she tells the men that her offer of money only comes if Connie’s the party prez.

Mili and Candy discuss how her life is like a telenovela plot. Mili spills her guts about Alejandro and Hugo and she almost slips and says that Connie is her dad. She’s very close to letting that cat out of the bag. I suspect it will happen soon---since we’re in the ultimos capitulos, it’s a safe bet. They talk about Candy’s life and to be honest, I didn’t pay all that much attention to it….something about her fiance cheating on her with her sister and her running out on their wedding. Now she’s dating a plastic surgeon named Santiago. Sounds like her life is a telenovlea plot as well, and that would be because it is. Anything else I glaringly missed? I’m sure that when her show, Las Tontas No Van al Cielo, starts to air on Univision, we’ll get the whole story. Later Mili wishes her luck with Santiago and Patricio-----so which one is played by Jaime and which one is played by Valentino? Anyone checked the show out on YouTube or elsewhere on the internet, yet? (OK I looked at Wikipedia---Jaime plays Santiago and Valentino plays Patricio---the ex-fiance).

Bobby, Al, and Rocky discuss if Connie’s got someone spying on their business---watching who’s coming and going. You think? Nestor shows up in their office and wants to talk to Al. He once again offers his son some money for the business. Al refuses. Nestor appeals to him to think of his partners, to think of his daughter. Al tells him that if he cared about him, he’d leave him alone. After Nestor leaves, Al fills in the others on Nestor’s offer and his refusal to take it. Rocky and Bobby mock Al, they don’t need the money because right now they’re swimming in it. Al gets angry with them wanting him to accept help from Nestor. He tells them to leave him alone.

Connie is on the phone, laughing his evil laugh…..he’s just found out he’s taken another client away from the competition. Damian comes in and tells Connie that Karla insists on having the baby and that he’s way too old to be changing diapers. Connie advises Damian to set Karla up in an apartment and give her a monthly allowance. He tells Damian he’s got to accept that right now, Connie’s got him in the palm of his hand----so fork over the papers that Mili signed and help clean up Connie’s name or else. Damian doesn’t seem too quick to jump on that bandwagon. Connie warns him, that if by some strange twist of fate, Karla suffers an accident and loses the baby, Connie’s going to let everyone know that Damian was behind it.

Rosela meets with her assistant, Paolo (seems very effeminate, perhaps a future love connection for Braulio? Because honestly, I just don't see Braulio and Pedro as a couple). She’s depressed and wants to cancel her plans for the day. He presses for details on what’s happening. She tells him her once-thought-dead daughter is really alive. She wants to find out the truth and she’ll do it alone.

At the convent, the good doctor and Padre Manuel discuss how Mother Superior is getting her affairs in order because she’s running out of time. PM tells the sisters to go in and say goodbye. Macarena is back from the jungle, still disguised as Sor Cachete. She shows little emotion regarding the end of MS’s days.

Back in the cellar, Sor Cachete appeals to Mono to let her free. He’s all for it, if she’d tell them where her parents’ ashes could be found.

Macarena goes in to see MS. MS urges her to take care of the others when she it gone. MS gives Sor Macarena the plaques for her parents’ niche. Sor Mac asks where the niches are and MS is shocked that Sor Catalina/Mac could have forgotten something so important. Before MS can tell her, Padre Manuel comes in and asks Sor Mac to leave, he’s going to give MS her Last Rights. Macarena is thwarted again, dangnabit.

Mili and Luci arrive back home. Luci’s all decked out. She assures Mili she’s ready to face Connie and the kids, but she’s anxious. She thanks Mili for all she’s done and tells her that she’s going to devote her efforts to getting Mili and Al back together. Mili asks if she’s ready to think of Mili as a daughter-in-law and Luci says she already thinks of her as a daughter. They hug.

Rosela visits the convent and gets PM to let her in to see MS. He's reluctant at first, but he ends up allowing her in to see the dying woman.

Connie tells Hugo that as soon as Damian gives him the papers that Mili signed, they will proceed with a divorce. Hugo wants to know if he’s got any say in this matter and Connie tells him he doesn’t. Mili and Luci walk in. Connie’s surprised to see Luci and Hugo lights into Mili about taking off and not telling him. Luci says that she and Mili have something to tell the two of them….. “You’ll never walk all over us again.” Mili adds, “Never, ever!”. The men have shocked looks on their faces and this is the END OF EPISODE.

Al Diablo Con Los Guapos #149, Friday 8-22: Frijoles are spilled and Constancio learns the true meaning of rat-bastard-ness

Here we are once again, Guapistas, filled with curiosity to see whether Madre Superior's promo-ed confession is the real deal; what Luci's going to chug now that she's sober; and most importantly, whether Nameless Baby Girl will finally get a name of her very own! On with el show!

Hugo puts down his paints and takes a seat. Karla shows him the results of the blood test. She's thrilled, but Hugo is less so. She swears she was using birth control and yes, it's his. Hugo wonders if it's his dad's, but Karla reminds him they broke up. He wonders if maybe it's Fernando's, but Karla reminds him he's been gone for months. She tells him she's one month pregnant and damn straight it's his!

Constancio complains to Padre Manuel that what he feared has finally happened--he's been removed from the party and it's all Milagros' fault! Padre Manuel's having none of it and tells him to man up at last and tell the poor girl the truth. Constancio pouts. PM says what he actually came there for is to get Constancio to go to the convent and talk to the Madre Superior. Constancio is surprised, but he refuses, saying he's just got too much work to do now that Bobby and Alejandro aren't around to do the scut work, Damian spends all his time chasing women, and Hugo spends all day painting and shagging Karla. Oh, poor Constancio, what's an evil corporate overlord to do? Good help is so hard to find these days. And no, he didn't say most of that. Anyhoo, he refuses, but wonders what it's about. PM says she needs to talk to Constancio so that she can die in peace. Now he's really intrigued and says he'll go tomorrow, without fail.

Karla offers to give Hugo the news again dressed as Mili. Hugo doesn't react, but says Mili can't find out that Karla's pregnant. Karla refuses to have an abortion and says she's in love with him and wants to have his baby and she doesn't care if he doesn't believe her. Hugo says he doesn't care about her feelings and doesn't feel anything for her, he's just using her for sex. Karla says she'll have the baby with or without him. Show of hands: Who feels comfortable with the idea of Karla raising a child, with or without Hugo? Yeah, I thought so. Karla storms out and runs into Andrea in the hallway, but she doesn't spill the frijoles, except to say that she finally has a way to get revenge on Damian and everyone else in the house. She says her future is assured and flounces off while Andrea wonders what's up. She doesn't know, though, cause if she did she'd be stroking her hair and plotting. For now she's just intrigued.

Horacio wants to talk to Bobby, but Lina says she doesn't know when he's coming over--he and the other two Stooges are working so hard to get the business up and running. Currently, the business is lying on the ground gasping for air, it seems. Horacio complains that he wants to know that Bobby's going through with the wedding this weekend because it's the second wedding dress Lina has had to buy. If he waits much longer it won't fit her anymore. I notice we haven't gotten a full-length look at Lina in a while. Maybe they're waiting until she can borrow Florencia's old baby belly--that way they can save money. Horacio says he's borrowing Constancio's shotgun so she can shoot Bobby if he doesn't marry Lina this weekend. Sorocco tells him to chill and think about how fun it will be to have a grandchild. Horacio tells Socorro that if she wants a bunch of kids running around the house, just let him know and he'll write to the stork. Ja! Socorro tells him she's past that age, but he's not. Karla walks in as Socorro is saying that she'd just be happy for Karla to settle down with a nice boy. Karla says they're talking about her again, as usual, but nothing will spoil her day. Lina, Socorro, and Horacio are understandably concerned.

Andrea sneaks into the maids' room searching for the envelope of secrets that Karla was hiding in her nonexistent cleavage. She finds it under a mattress and says "She's pregnant!" Let the plotting begin.

At Casa de Mili, Luciana is still thanking Mili and Rocky for everything they've done. She gives them both kisses. Rocky says she just needs to call if she needs anything. He asks when she's going to talk to the kids. Luci says she needs to be a different woman first before she talks to them and asks for their forgiveness. Mili says she has a surprise for Luci…a place that will heal her soul, and the two of them will go there tomorrow. Mili shows her an advice column in a magazine written by "Candy" who has her own clinic, and tomorrow Mili and Luci will go get their souls healed. Oddly, I expected Mili to suggest a spiritual retreat, maybe a stay at the convent, but I think it would be too hard to keep Luci hidden there.

Constancio comes into the study and throws Ramses out before he can tell Constancio about his schedule for tomorrow. Andrea walks in with her magic envelope of getting Constancio back in the mood. Constancio tells Andrea that rumors about his bastard are running, thanks to Damian, and he's going to hunt him down. Andrea says that Damian has had a baby with a servant too, and gives him the envelope with Karla's test results. Constancio thinks that Karla agreed to their scheme and asks Andrea if she's sure it's Damian's. Andrea has assumed it is because Karla said that she had a way to get revenge on Damian in the hallway. Constancio is at least back to smiling his rat-bastard smile, but he hasn't achieved the kind of giddy happiness that makes him want to jump Andrea yet. She'll have to work harder, I guess.

Ramses runs into Valeria in the foyer. Her neck hurts and he offers to give her a massage. She tries to resist, but a stiff neck will not be denied. He spritzes some breath spray before he begins. Valeria oohs and aahs as Ramses blames her tension on Rocky delaying the wedding. Rocky and Mili come in and Rocky gripes out Valeria for having Ramses give her a massage instead of asking him to do it. After all, he has bigger hands *wink, wink* Ramses says size doesn't matter. Rocky says the only way to settle this is for Ramses to give him a massage after he's done with Valeria. Oh, how very modern. Valeria loves this idea and sits next to Rocky on the couch, demanding that Ramses give her Chiquito a rubdown. Ramses gets to work, but Rocky's a little nervous about being strangled.

Mili goes to tell Hugo that she won't be around all day tomorrow. Hugo assumes she wants to be with Alejandro. She says she's going somewhere alone and won't be home until late. He keeps asking whether she's going to be with Alejandro even though she keeps denying it. He says it's her fault he's jealous like this, but she reminds him he's always been a liar and her mistake was to believe he'd changed. She said she's tired of waiting for him and she and Alejandro want to get married. Hugo tells her to keep dreaming and laughs. Mili says she's getting a lawyer and she doesn't care about losing the money and if he chooses to take it, it's on his conscience.

Constancio angrily serves himself a drink. Damian comes in. Constancio tells Damian that he got what he wanted, going to Peralta with the gossip about his bastard. Constancio tells Damian that now he, Damian, is going to resign from the party and then die. Damian wonders why he would do that. Constancio adds that he's also going to give back the contract that Mili signed in exchange for Karla's test results, or else the news will get out that Damian is also expecting a bastard. Damian denies that it's his, that he hasn't been with Karla in ages. Constancio asks if he's sure, but Damian now remembers that maybe a month or a month and a half ago he was with her, that time she was vacuuming. Because nothing turns Damian on more than watching other people work. Constancio says he's got Damian in his hands. Damian walks out. Constancio still doesn't look all that happy.

Damian goes out to the foyer/living room/all purpose room, pours himself a drink and sits down. Hugo's there too and they both talk about the impending baby. Damian thinks Hugo is talking about Damian's supposed baby and Hugo thinks Damian is talking about Hugo's supposed baby. Damian says Karla only cares about money, so he'll fork over some dough and get her to have an abortion. Hugo says to wait, he wants some time to think. Damian wonders what for, but Hugo just says please. Damian says he's going to go gamble and calm himself down. They thank each other and hug.

The next day, Mili and Luci show up at the clinic. They check in with the receptionist. Luci looks nervous.

Constancio has come to see the Madre Superior. He says it's good to see her. She asks him to sit down and asks Padre Manuel to leave her alone with Constancio, which he does.

The receptionist announces the gals to Candy and then shows them in. Candy says what they do there is work on self-esteem and self-respect. Mili's doing all the talking since Luci's so nervous. Luci finally ends up talking about how she's an alcoholic, her kids hate her, she's gone through some really rough times…Mili adds a list of all Luciana's favorite drinks and the fact that even the flower vases weren't safe from her. Candy gives Mili one of those "Aren't you sweet…now shut up" looks.

Constancio guesses that Madre Superior wants to talk about Mili, but MS says she wants to talk about Rosario. Constancio is surprised, but he says it's very uncomfortable for him to talk about her and he'd rather leave the past where it is, he doesn't like to talk about the dead. MS says she's not dead. Constancio is impactado! And we go to commercials before we get the rest of the story.

Constancio says it's not possible. MS says that's what she made everyone, including Mili, think, but she lied and she's hidden the truth her whole life, but now she can't anymore. MS says it was Constancio's father's doing. He came to see MS and…flashback

Don Federico says that he owns the land and he can tear down the convent whenever he wants to. MS is surprised he would even say that. DF says he knows that they're hiding a pregnant woman, but MS denies she's being hidden and asks if he knows her. DF says that his son Constancio is the father of the unnamed woman's child. DF says he'll forget about tearing down the convent if MS cooperates. He tells MS to tell the woman that the child was stillborn and then he'll take the woman away and let MS raise the child in the convent, as long as she never tells the child the truth. DF says he won't hesitate to wipe out the convent. He doesn't want the bastard showing up to hurt his family.

Constancio wonders how she could have agreed to it. MS says she's never forgiven herself, but she didn't have any other way to save the convent, even if she condemned her soul in doing it, and condemned Mili to live without her mother's love. She says she also did it to save Mili because Don Fed said that if she didn't agree he'd also take the baby away and abandon it somewhere far away. Constancio is freaked out by the idea that Rosario is alive. MS says she doesn't know where Rosario could be, but she left there thinking her daughter was dead.

Luci talks to Candy about the mistakes she made when she was drinking, how much she hurt herself and her kids, and how much she hurt Mili. Candy gives a PSA about the evils of drink. She reminds Mili that no one's ever cured of alcoholism, you have to take it day by day. Candy says Luci will need the help of her whole family to keep from falling off the wagon. Luci says she feels so awful and ugly and she wants to look pretty. Candy says she's got to start with self-esteem and self-forgiveness and self-care. Mili says she's behind Luci all the way and will be her cheerleader. Mili's way too perky in these scenes. They're trying to talk about serious stuff, here, and she's being her usual goofy self.

MS tells Constancio she's dying and she didn't want to leave this world with her secret. Constancio asks why his daddy did it and what he said after. MS says he didn't say anything because she never saw him again. Constancio asks what happened when Mili was born. He wants the whole story. MS says that Mili, PM, and Sor Catalina all got her fake version of the story, but now he gets the truth…flashback

A nun takes the baby away. Don Fed reminds her to take care of the bastard and never tell her the truth. The new Rosario sleeps. Don Fed says there's an ambulance waiting to take her away, once MS tells her the baby's dead and gets her ready to leave. DF says she won't believe him, so MS will have to do the lying for him. DF leaves. Rosario wakes up and asks to see her daughter. MS says she's sorry, but the baby was born weak and died. Rosario cries.

MS says after that, they took Rosario away and she never knew anything more about her or Don Fed. She doesn't know where Rosario was taken, and God is her witness to the torment she's been in all these years. MS says the baby stayed at the convent and she made up a story and named her Milagros (Miracle) because that's what she was to them all. MS says there's no more time for her and she wanted to talk to him and tell him the truth. Constancio says "and to change my life."

Candy introduces Luci to the psychologist. The two of them go off together. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of place this is. Candy talks to Mili and asks her what happened to get Luci down the road to drink. Mili talks about Luci's kids. Candy wonders what Luciana is to Mili. She doesn't understand why one of the kids didn't bring Luci. Mili fills her in on the back story, except for the part where she's Luci's husband's daughter. Can't wait to see Candy's reaction to that one!

Alejandro tries to close a business deal in his office while Nameless Baby Girl cries in the background. The potential client says he'll have to go with Belmonte Construction since they made him an incredible deal. I would think by now that screwing the Three Stooges would have started getting too expensive for Constancio. He must be having to seriously undercut them on price. Either that or he's going broke paying every PI in the DF to dig up dirt on all his potential clients so he can blackmail them into signing contracts. Alejandro comforts Nameless Baby Girl (In the words of Mr. 5ft, "Maybe if you'd give me a name already I'd be happy!") and says he's not giving up.

And Monday: Peralta breaks the news to Rosario that Constancio has a bastard daughter who used to work as a servant in his house. Yep, you read it right. Also, Andrea is jealous of Rosario's picture, Luci gets a makeover, and Rosario and Constancio come face to face. That's right, cause we're in Ultimos Capitulos!

Guapos, Thursday, August 21, 2008: Luci dries out and Connie fesses up

The fake Sor Cachete (Macarena in a nun’s habit) wonders where the convent kitchen is after Padre M has told her to get in there and rattle some pans.
Connie comes into Damien’s room and jumps him, taking a few swings and saying how dare you rob my daughter? Damien is stunned – your daughter? Connie says yes, my daughter. The music goes ta- DUM!

At the hospital, we see Luci still having detox tremors and in come Mili and Rocky who say you asked to see us? Rocky says you look better than when we found you. Luci asks him to step out so she can talk to Mili alone.

Luci says to Mili that she can’t believe that the person she’s hurt most in the world is the one who saved her life. Mili says I’m sure you would have done the same thing for me. Luci says no, I would have left you like trash, to die in the street. Mili says you can insult me, I can take it. Luci says no, what I want is to beg your forgiveness. I know I don’t deserve it – I was so blind, so horrible, with you and you didn’t deserve it. I never met your mama, but I hated her because of the great love Constancio had for her and still has for her.

Mili says he abandoned her, left her to die. He didn’t love her as much as you think. Luci says and then you came into the house Mili, into my life, and when I found out Alex had fallen in love with you it was a massive blow to my pride. Rosario stole Constancio’s love and I wasn’t going to let you, you of all people, steal the love of my Alex.

Mili says I didn’t want to steal anything from you. Alex loves you so much and we could have shared his love, but you didn’t want to. Luci says I ended up destroying my son. Forgive me, Milagros, please forgive me. Mili is in tears and she says of course I forgive you, because of you there is Alex, my very reason for living. Mili lays her head on Luci’s breast and Luci embraces her, her hands shaking so severely she seems palsied and Mili’s teeth must be rattling.

Connie is laying the Big Truth on Damien – Mili is the daughter of Rosario, servant of the house, who he left to marry Damien’s sorry sister. Ahhhh, says Damien. So that’s why Regina left her her fortune – she was the lost grandchild. Connie says think what you like, but I’m not going to let you rob her, so hand over that paper she signed.

Not a chance, says Damien. She may be your daughter, but she has hurt my son terribly and I’m going to protect him. Connie gives him a shove. Damien says attention! If you’re so big into protecting her, why haven’t you acknowledged her as your daughter, huh? Connie says thief! Maybe, says Damien, but I’m a million times better father than you are. Connie is furious and says you aren’t doing it for Hugo, you’re doing it for yourself. You weaseled money when they got married and now you want to weasel more when they divorce. Damien says Mili cheated on Hugo with Alex, and it’s not fair that Hugo should be left empty-handed. If he lost the love of his life, Milagros should lose something too.

Connie gives him another shove and says I’m not going to let you get away with this. Damien says there’s nothing you can do and – attention! – you’d best leave it alone, or I’ll blab on you. Here you had your bastard child in the house, working as a servant. That news would be the end of your political career. Connie growls at him I’m going to destroy you! Damien says lets see who destroys who and he gives Connie a shove and walks out.

Mili is just breaking away from her embrace of Luci and Luci says it drove me nuts how everyone would say how good you are, but now I’ve seen that it’s true. You must have a huge heart to forgive what I’ve done to you. I learned so much from living in the streets, from doing anything for just one drop of alcohol. I even was begging. Mili says hard lessons, and Luci says painful ones. Luci says I always thought social standing was so important, but now after living what I lived, things I never thought I’d experience, I’ve learned so many things.

She strokes Mili’s hair and says look at you, you’ve grown up without parents in a world where so many strikes are against you, whereas I was given everything, yet I threw my life in the trash. Mili says there’s time to change – your children love you. They hate me, says Luci. No, no says Mili, they love you and they’re very worried about you. Take that love and use it to get better, to rise up in life. Luci sobs and Mili strokes her face and cries too, and gives her a kiss on the forehead.

At the ad break, they show a clip of Luci standing by the ocean in what looks almost like a nightie, no makeup, the wind blowing her carelessly tied-up hair.

Luci tells Mili about Oceanica where you go to dry out and recover and Mili hopes she wants to go. Luci says yes, she needs help and can’t do it alone, but she has no money. I’ll pay! says Mili. I know, says Luci, I know you paid for this hospital and you said you’d pay for Oceanica, but I just can’t let you after all I’ve done to you. Forget all that, says Mili, clean the slate. Think of it as a loan and you can repay me later. My reward would be you getting better and coming home to your children. Luci sobs forgive me forgive me and Mili, crying too, hugs her again.

Macarena, pretending to be her sister, has served up quesadillas. The padre asks what’s up with that and Macarena says I couldn’t find what I needed to make something better, your excellency. The padre says but you’re the one in charge of the kitchen! The padre says he’s sorry the MS can’t be with them, she’s feeling under the weather. He asks Macarena to do the blessing. Gulp! She thanks for the cheese and the tortillas and the griddle she finally found. Eyebrows pop up around the table. The padre asks where is the other good stuff she used to put in the quesadillas, and her great salsa she always makes? Nobody appreciates me, says Macarena, can’t I have a bad day like everyone else? The padre wonders why she’s reacting like that. Macarena says everyone picks on me, I should take a vacation! Here I am working for no salary! The padre says are you serious? You do seem very tense. He tells her to go with another sister who is going off into the jungle to do good works. Not me, says Macarena. Yes you, says the padre, those are my orders. Macarena says when’s this trip? The padre says you remember, it’s tonight. Get your things together. No, no says Macarena.

Rocky is talking alone to Luci now and he tells her everyone thought she was in the institution and he asks how she ended up on the street. Luci says she doesn’t want to talk about it, the important thing is that she is where she’s getting help, thanks to him and Mili. Of course we helped, it’s natural, says Rocky and besides you are the mother of my chiquita, my mother-in-law. Do you mind if I call you that? No, says Luci. He wants to know if it’s all right to tell her kids where she is so that they can come visit and she says no, not until I’ve been to Oceanica and I’m recovered. Rocky tells her she’s a strong person and that will help her get better.

Luci says she’s so sorry for the bad things she did to him and Mili, but most of all Mili. Luci asks how it’s going with Vale and Rocky says great now that Connie has said it’s okay for them to marry. He did? asks Luci. I know my husband very well and I know he plays dirty. Luci says she has a favor to ask – could they wait until she’s all better so she can come home and see the wedding of her daughter? Rocky says you’re not going to oppose the wedding? Luci says no, I see that my children’s happiness is with you and Mili. I was fighting a losing battle.

In the storeroom, Sor Cachete is pacing in Macarena’s leopard outfit and is praying to God, asking him why He put Macarena back in her life after she had escaped her bad influence. Mono comes in and she begs him to let her go. He says sure, just tell us which niche has the money in it and you’ll be free to go back to your life. She says never, the money was stolen and it would be a sin to help. She says why are you playing at being a bad movie-style Mafioso when I can see in your eyes that you’re a good person? Mono glares at her. Well, sometimes, she says. I can see you have a noble heart, didn’t your mother tell you that? Mono thinks it over and says why yes! She said son, you are ugly, but you have a good heart. Sor Cachete says see? You’ve just lost your way. Heaven is chock full of repentants, you know.

Mono has his hand over his heart and seems to be having an epiphany, but a voice is telling him to pick up. It’s a message coming through on Macarena’s cell, which he has. She says come get me, or I’ll end up on a mission in some jungle. He says what about the money? She says look for it tomorrow morning. The padre comes up to Macarena and says the bus is waiting for you. Back to Mono: he says they’re going to take her on a mission. Sor Cachete says I know and I really wanted to go and it’s your fault I can’t now.

Luci is saying so Flor left without her child? Mili and Rocky are at the end of her bed and Mili says yes, she thought I’d make a better mother. Luci agrees and says no matter what I did, it seems fate has reunited you and Alex. Luci says she will do everything in her power to see Mili and Alex married, and Rocky and Vale. They deserve it. Mili and Rocky are thrilled and say she seems like a new person. Luci says I had to go through a lot to get this way. She asks if Andrea is still in her house. They say yes, she is, strutting around and playing the grande dame. Luci says that’s all I need. She makes Mili and Rocky promise to see her when she gets out of Oceanica and they happily agree. Group hug.

Damien is lunching with Peralta and he asks him to build a fire under the story of Connie and the illegitimate child. Why? asks Peralta. Damien says it’s a girl child, and she was working as a servant in the house. Peralta says that’s serious and Damien smiles.

Vale is coming into the foyer, furious, where Alex is holding the baby. She checked with Pedro and guess what Rocky was never there. She asks Alex if Rocky could be cheating and he says surely there’s some explanation. He laughs and says no way would Rocky run around on her and in fact the thing he likes best about Rocky is how much he loves her.

Just then Rocky and Mili come in and Vale wants to know why they’re coming in together. Mili says they just met at the door and Alex says how’s Padre Manuel and Mili says he says hi. Mili goes upstairs and Alex takes the baby up too.

Vale confronts Rocky and says she checked at Rodeo and he wasn’t there. She rants a bit and he laughs and says you’re jealous! He says he can’t say where he’s been but it’s something for her, a surprise, she’ll see. She melts. He says and oh by the way they won’t marry in 2 weeks. She is upset and says when. He says it depends, and he runs off.

In his studio, Karla is leaning on Hugo as they recline on the couch. She wants to know why Mili’s things are still around if they’re not sleeping together. Hugo says if he took them out it would be accepting their separation. He’ll never let her go, even though she just gave him all her money to separate. Karla sits up, suddenly alert. Hugo explains how that happened and Karla says do it! I can’t be bought with any fortune, says Hugo. He pushes her back and starts to kiss her and then says change, and put on the wig. She rolls her eyes, but, ever the pragmatist, off she heads to the bathroom.

A scene of Alex and Mili adoring the baby. She shows him how to burp a baby, something he’d never heard of, oddly enough. They want to put the baby down and decide to sing to her. They sing softly and that segues into a background song while we see scenes of a rocky beach and a car driving into a nice facility. Scenes of the makeup-less Luci registering.

More montage: We see the nuns in the jungle, and Macarena is swatting at bugs. Luci is writing in her journal, is sitting in group therapy. Karla is making love with Hugo, she surreptitiously takes off the wig. Rocky (pencils up his nose), Bobby and Alex at the office – no business. A gray-haired customer is there, they swarm him. He is next seen giving a file folder to Connie. Alex enters Connie’s office, passing the customer and confronts Connie about it. Luci is working out in the gym, her black eye gone. Mili and Gloria and Socorro are framed in a mirror with Lina, congratulating her. (Is she getting married? She has a white top on – we can’t see the rest.) Vale and Rocky are sharing a lounger and Ramses comes out and lays down in the other one. Rocky chases him off. Luci is in the facility laundry, ironing her own dress. She is at a PowerPoint presentation about alcohol dependence. She is at a microphone, speaking to the group. Mili and Connie are walking by the fountain, Damien observes. Mono is prying open every niche at the convent looking for the right ashes. Karla is vacuuming in Damien’s room in her short skirt, and unseen by her, Damien studies her. He shoves her down on the bed while she says no no!

Luci is receiving a pin for progress. She sits out by the sea, writing in her journal. She is running on a vast, sandy beach (that place sure looked rocky in the first shots). She looks at photos of her family, sits on the sand and journals some more. The sun is setting, she lights a fire and burns her journal. She stands and watches the sea, she lets sand fall from her fingers and blow away. She watches the journal burn.

She passes through an applauding double row of people as she pulls her small luggage behind her and leaves. She has on a horrible little-girl sundress that must have been donated. An airplane is aloft.

Mili and Rocky are nervously waiting at the airport. Why is the plane so late? There’s Luci! They all embrace joyfully. Luci still has no makeup on, but at least she doesn’t have that dreadful dress on. She wants to know if her kids know, and the two assure her that they don’t. Luci says she can’t wait to see them, but she’s scared too.

The MS is in bed, no habit, and we find out she has short dark brown hair. Wow, even nuns dye their hair! She is concerned that Sor Cachete hasn’t written from the jungle and the padre is surprised too. He says the niches in the church have been broken into. The MS says her time is near and she is resigned. The padre wants to know if she wants to confess. She says no, there is something that is bothering her a lot. She wants Connie to come. The padre says he’s a hard-head and nothing she says will get him to fess up to being Mili’s father. She says go get him.

Peralta comes into Connie’s office and says why did you want to see me? You should ask! says Connie. What have you done? Connie whams his desktop. You have worked against me! You’re the one that got me blackballed and arranged it so that Damien replaced me. Peralta says how can you say that? Even if you don’t think I’m your friend, I am. People come and go, the party remains. People die, the party is immortal. Connie says come to the point. Peralta says it’s not my fault, it’s just that the party doesn’t want anything to do with you anymore and Damien is the best candidate for the presidency. Connie is livid and says Damien will fall hard and fast. Peralta says no harder or faster than you – there’s a rumor that you have a bastard child and she was working as a servant in your home. Connie is speechless.

A car pulls up to Mili’s mom’s house and Rocky, Mili and Luci get out. Luci says she really loves it. Rocky says your place is in your home with your children. Luci says I’ll be back there, but I’m taking it one step at a time. They go in – Rocky and Mili have decorated and set some flowers and fruit around. Mili says she remembered that Luci loves jasmines. They have two framed photos, Vale and Alex, and photos on the wall of the baby. Luci is overjoyed. She can’t wait to hold her first grandchild in her arms. Luci embraces them and says I lost so many moments due to my alcoholism – never again. Group hug.

Back at the office, Connie wants to know who told Peralta and he says he can’t reveal his sources. But he says having your child work in your house as a servant – well! Connie says it’s Damien, I know it. Peralta says I’m sorry, but your political career is over. Connie says you’re really going to regret siding with Damien. I’m going to run out both you and him. Peralta says are you threatening me? They declare war. Peralta says you aren’t just messing with me and Damien, you’re messing with the party, which is going to back us up. Connie tells him to get out.

Karla comes in where Hugo is moodily painting. She has an envelope in her hand, and she tells him she’s pregnant – by him.

Avances: The dying MS tells Connie that Mili’s mother didn’t die.

Guapos Wednesday 8/20/08 " . . . but they're cousins, identical cousins . . ."

Rehash: Mili signs away her fortune while Andrea tries to persuade Karla to get pregnant (by Hugo?). I still don't understand this, and I don't think it matters. Andrea thinks Connie will pay big bucks if Karla helps them, but I think Andrea doesn't realize the end of her reign is probably near.

In the kitchen, Mili prepares to read that letter finally, but Lina and Gloria try to pull it away from her. Socorro intervenes, but before she can read, Braulio comes in to say that Dr. Whatshisname has called. The doctor tells her to get over and see Luci ASAP. Brau tries to pry into what's going on, but Mili won't tell.

Mongo goes to the church and looks for Sor Cachete. He tells her he and his wife want to make a big donation. Shouldn't she be wary that he is wearing a prison uniform (not to mention he is eight feet tall and and looks somewhat like a troglodyte)? No, she is all agog, 'cause the convent is collapsing, until they turn and see . . . Macarena, in all her blond glory. Cachete is impactada, but we'll have to wait to see what happens next. (Since we finally saw Macarena for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I've been waiting to see Guapos's split-screen answer to The Parent Trap and The Patty Duke Show. Tonight's episode deserves a premio for its high-tech special effects.)

Val visits the new office of the Three Stooges Construction Company. She is charmed by Rocky's sign (we now know that Rocky's nickname comes from his real name, Ricardo). She tells Bobby to be sure to hire an ugly secretary. Bobby jokes that he and Al have to suffer because of her jealousy. Rocky takes her into his office and jokingly tells Bobby to hold all calls. Bobby offers to get them coffee . . .
Out in the reception area, Marisela shows up to reveal the truth about Lina to Bobby. He mans up and tells her the past doesn't matter--all that matters is that he loves Lina. Marisela realizes she has no chance against this true love and they part amicably.

Over at the bat cave, Hugo is painting madly. Damian shows him the papers that Mili signed, but Hugo is not as happy as Damian thought he'd be. No, he says, Mili can't buy her freedom so easily. He starts to tear up the papers, but Damian says they're just copies. He's protecting his son, who always gets himself in trouble by acting on his emotions.

Mili finally reads the letter from Flor. Flor has turned 180 degrees from last week, when she was egging Hugo on to stick with the bad marriages and he wanted out. She says that Mili must divorce ASAP so she and Al can marry and make a proper family for nameless baby. She gives Mili ammunition: Hugo slashed the painting, and worse, he was cheating on Mili at the resort with another woman. She warns Mili not to let Hugo manipulate her.
Hugo comes in and demands "What have you done?" but she turns and says, "No, what have YOU done?" Showdown!
Mili says she won't let Hugo trample on her (pisotear) anymore, as she found out about his cheating. She says she never lied. She married Hugo with the best of intentions to forget Al, and she tried. But she never lied, not like Hugo. This moral relativisim doesn't quite work for me, but it's all we've got. She shows him the letter, and he tries to deny it, saying Flor is crazy. No, she says, Flor has gone away and given her the baby. He doesn't believe it at first, but reality sets in and he admits his past sins.

Back at the church, Macarena calls Sor Cacheta "Cacha," but SC says only her friends can call her "Chubster." Macarena says she never thought her sister would end up in a convent, much less a nun, but SC says it gives her peace. Macarena gets down to business--where are their parents' ashes?

Hugo is now giving the abusive husband's usual excuse: You made me do it. I slept with that other girl 'cause I had no choice--you left me alone and went away with Alex. Mili says what she did was different: She and Alejandro made LOVE, and it was the most MARVELOUS night of her life. He asks why she always provokes him, and she says she can't be responsible for his actions. (geez, she's right, but she probably should have avoided rubbing it in with all the ecstatic details about her night of adultery!). Mili asks for her freedom, and he says never. She throws off her ring, and we last see Hugo mouthing it tearfully the way my dog chews on a marrow bone.

Back at the church, Sor Cachete is beginning to smell a rat, and she says she will call the police before she reveals the location of the parents' ashes, as there is no name on the cubicle. Macarena hits her on the head with a bottle, and she's out cold.

Al arrives at the office with nameless baby. Everyone coos over her. The partners remind themselves that Connie will try to destroy their business.

Lina helps Gloria prepare for her date with Chamuco.

Mongo and another guy carry Sor Cachete to a lair somewhere. Not clear why they would carry her outside the convent (or how they managed to get out of the convent or carry such a heavy weight . . .). Or maybe they're just in a room in the convent. Sor Cachete is still out cold, but she starts to wake up. Macarena hits her on the head again. Mongo asks Macarena why she hit her sister, and she says because she talks too much and she forgot how much Cachete hates her (or she hates Cachete? This went by too fast for me to check my pronouns and word order).

Mili is sitting forlornly on a garden bench when Connie drives up in the Mercedes. Time for another agonizing conversation where neither side admits the truth to the other but they exchange longing looks. She says Hugo won't give her a divorce, and Connie is surprised to learn that she doesn't love Hugo (some people are always the last to know!). She says she tried to forget her great love but she couldn't: Drumroll: Alejandro is the love of her life. Connie is surprised and then more surprised to learn that Flor has left. Mili spells out the whole Flor leaving situation. She says she has always wanted to marry Alex, but there is always something in the way. Connie says that Alex doesn't deserve her. He says that he thought there was something between them but that it was long over. He is sorry. He says Alex is not her happiness, and he wants her to be happy. Why, she snaps. Because I love you. She says he doesn't know how to love--if he did, he wouldn't be living such a bitter life. He says he wants to help, and she taunts him: you can't--you're not my father! Ouch!

Hugo begs Damian for Mili's documents, but Damian won't give them up. He wants his son to regain his dignity (and some other parts of his anatomy?).

Rocky, Val, Bobby, Al, and nameless baby return from the office. Lina comes out, and they are planning to go to eat. Mili comes in and gets Rocky over to the side where they pretend to look for an earring while she tells him they have to concoct an excuse to get out and visit Luci. Mili leaves. Bobby and Lina decide to go out alone. Val tells Al to change the baby because she smells. Rocky makes an excuse and leaves. Ramses comes in and tries to foment jealousy. Val scoffs but then wonders if he could be right.

Luci is talking to the doctor and a new doctor. Her black eye has gone down a bit. New doctor is going to take her to a special rehab place called Oceanica for five weeks, and we get a PSA on twelve-step programs. She worries about money, but the doctor reminds her that Mili is paying (hmm, not after she gives up her money to Hugo!). She says she will wait to make her decision until she speaks to Rocky and Mili, and the doctor tells her they are to arrive momentarily.

Chalupa and Gloria make up. He was sorry to learn she wasn't having a baby after all his hard work. She says she didn't want to wait two more years to get married. They kiss.

Now for another money scene: Connie comes in to Hugo's study and asks him to give Mili a divorce. What's it to you? asks Hugo (who knows all too well, but won't let Connie know he knows). He then says that Al wants to be with her, but he's not going to let "mi . . . er . . .Milagros" be with that mediocrity. He says he doesn't want her with either Al or Hugo. Hugo taunts him: why are you so interested--you act like she's your daughter. Connie says that he promised Regina to always protect Mili. Hugo tells Connie to go talk to Damian, 'cause Mili signed over everything.

Mongo and Macarena (now dressed in the nun's habit) sneak back to the church. Mongo says she's got to get rid of the red lipstick, so she kisses Mongo and smears the lipstick all over. Then they hear Padre Manuel calling, so Mongo hides his huge bulk behind a skinny tree. Seeing the smeared lipstick, Padre Manuel chides Chunky for eating all the raspberries again. She starts kissing his hand avidly and calling him Your Eminence (I'm not Catholic, but I think that title is reserved for higher ranking clergy, no?). Thinking she has lost her mind, he says she's got to get to the kitchen right away to make dinner--the orphans are dying of hunger. Kitchen? Macarena doesn't do kitchens.

Finally, we end with Connie bursting in and attacking Damian. Unfortunately, my DVR cut out there and I did not record the overlap with Fuego. I hope someone else can fill us in on this climactic moment!

Guapos 08-19-08 "Karla gets all dressed up for her Date"

Okay…drama for the sake of drama, we get to relive Flor giving Mili, lil baby Nameless. Mili begs, she pleads, she offers to write bad checks. No sorry the die is cast, Nameless would be better off with you than me, you can give her much more than I ever could.

Flor won’t even kiss Nameless goodbye, she tells Mili to leave and Blondie sister, who has to do all the heavy lifting in this scene, leaves with her.
Flor then picks up the phone and calls Ex-husband to come get her before she changes her mind.

Seems Hugo and Al had a fight. Hugo has vowed to have unrequited love with Mili each and every night, twice on the weekend nights, until he gets her pregnant.

Hugo sits weeping in his room, he is suffering the death of love,
---Dude, I feel for you here, but alas you knew that bus was never going to stop on your corner, now you have a bus willing to stop, morning, noon and night. So what if a few others have ridden…I say let the person who hasn’t ever given the wrong person a ride, be the first to throw stones. Yeah Hugo, youv’e picked up some dicey riders along the way.

Anyway, Damien tries to convince Hugo to cut Mili loose, for a bit of dinero of course. Hugo says he feels so alone…He and Damien embrace. Damien does look a bit concerned for his son’s mental stability, but not enough to try and do anything other than get the $$.

Al is pacing the floor, in his room looking into the empty crib.
--Okay I must say, I have not paid enough attention to see the crib set-up, but these people are loaded, I believe they could have found a better crib set up than that. It just screams clash with the décor.

Damien runs into Mili & Nameless downstairs, the crossroads of the hacienda. He tells her to meet him in the study. He wants to talk to her.

Meanwhile, Blondie who dumped off Mili and Nameless at the Hacienda, goes into the kitchen, where Karla is chowing down on a sandwich. She inquires as to the whereabouts of Lina. Karla tells her that Lina & Bobby are out with her mother and the gardener. Karla then says, weren’t you and Bobby an item?
“Yes, but no longer, Bobby has Lina pregnant,” Blondie wistfully answers. Karla tells her, “Nope that isn’t Bobby’s kid, it belongs to that RatBastard, Fernando”. Better known to avid viewers as Dead Fred. Well, that brings a smile to Blondie’s face.

Now I forgot this part, the above mentioned foursome are out at a nice restaurant, Horacito is a bit cold, thinking his preggers daughter is never going to marry. Bobby promises yes they will and soon and then it will be the best honeymoon ever.

Mili comes in with Nameless. Al is happy to see the kid. To make a long story short…Mili gives him the 411 that Flor is never coming back. This makes Al looking like he is having, having aaaahhh what is the phrase, oh yeah “Deep Thoughts”, sorry I just don’t usually connect Al with Deep Thoughts. Yes, Matey, Mili says, “She abandoned the baby”, then for the slow viwers or maybe for Al, she repeats, “She abandoned the baby”. I beg to differ, she put the kid in the future step-mom’s hands. Yes, being from Mexico, Flor has seen her share of TeleNovelas and she can read the writing on the script.

Karla slips into Hugo’s room. It is all dark and in shadows, much like Hugo’s soul. She finally locates him. He asks her if she knows, when he is doing her, he is thinking of Mili. (Karla, having wised up in the past few episodes, does not tell him, "yeah and I‘m pretending Jaime Camil is hiding his salami", what's your point?), instead she just acts like okay, whatever and tries to get to the “getting busy” business. Hugo says he has a present for her.
He hands her a bag, she pulls out an orange dress, then a really bad black wig, which actually looks a lot like Mili’s current hair style. Karla is freaked, I’m freaked. She says “ This is crazy”. Hugo starts rubbing a lot of nasty synthetic black hair all over his face and breathing hard.
---At this point I am begging the Television to make it stop---
Karla takes the lovely gift and goes in the bathroom to change.

Okay, while we are waiting for Karla to change, let’s go over to the Bar. Sister Chunky’s doppelganger, the smokey torch song singer is sitting at a table with her love, the big prison guy.
Meanwhile, her understudy is crooning a tune about hearts and love..whatever, I think he is Juan Q’s friend from Juan Q. Maybe he is singing a sad song cause he is wearing that gawd awful sequin shirt, yet he is not sporting a mullet. I say if you are going to wear an 80’s shirt, you better own it.
---For those of you who like translated songs, sorry---
Anyway, the chunky Novia wants to blow town, oh if only they had the dinero..It is at the church. They must go to the Church to seek their ill gotten gains.

Damien enters the study, Andrea is sitting on the leather action couch. She is playing with her hair and thinking about making someone’s life miserable. Damien tries to embrace her, but she says they have to be careful. She seems game to keep bopping Damien. I am not sure what they even talk about, I think maybe Consti dying?
Finally Damien sweeps in for the kiss and they are playing serious tonsil hockey, when Mili opens the door, she creeps up and startles them. Andrea acts all, like Damien forced her. Andrea exits stage left. Mili is not fooled.

Damien tells Mili how, his son is so depressed, just like when Damien killed Hugo’s Mom and Novia, well okay it was Vehicular Manslaughter. Now Damien, romantic that he is believes in true love and knows Al & Mili need to be together. However, Hugo is blameless in all this and well Granny’s inheritance would sure make life easier. Mili says, Money can’t buy happiness, Damien looks like he begs to differ, but keeps his mouth shut. He tells Mili to think it over.

Val and Rocky come in to stand in amazement gazing at the Nameless Baby. Then there is some back and forth about how cute their kids will be. Al leans against the desk looking dejected, have you ever noticed how this happens when God forbid, Al is not the center of attention. Anyway, realizing their faux pas, the others turn all their attention on Al. They are sorry their little stunt at the beach has lead to Al’s shattered marriage, Mili’s problems, and poor Hugo’s twenty-four hour suicide watch. Perking right up at the attention, Al says they are not to blame, it was the most wonderful night of his life. Everything is going to work out. Group hug, baby Nameless lies alone in her crib. Get used to it honey.

Blondie arrives home and calls out for her sister. No answer , there are three letters on the table, one for Al, one for Mili and on for Blondie. She opens hers, and unless she is a graduate of “Evelyn Woods Speed Reading”, barely gets past the salutation before she crumples a rather lengthy typewritten missive. As if , I bet it was a copy, paste job from a term paper off Cheaters.com, probably the first line was, “It was the best times and it…..”

Now in the bathroom Karla has changed into the dress (I don’t get the dress as I don’t recall seeing Mili in many dresses, wouldn’t lil Naco gangbanger clothes have been more in keeping with the fantasy?), anyway she pulls on the wig. She is replaying in her mind the lines that Hugo said to Al about nailing Mili each night til she gets pregnant. Yeah good idea Karla, keep wearing the wig and get pregnant, Hugo is so BSC, he’ll never notice. Hugo watches her from the doorway, when she turns he puts a Mili hat on her head. He calls her Mili and says he loves her, he demands she tell him that she loves him. Karla not knowing what else to do , says he loves him and inserts her tongue down his throat, thus rendering any further speech impossible. ("She is thinking, Don Jaime es tan devino” ). A girl gotts to do what a girl gotts to do.

Now Mili is back up in Al’s room, he is walking the floor with the mewing baby. Mili takes the baby and she calms right down. Al says it is cause Nameless knows her Mother. No it is cause it is a doll, not a real kid. But I guess if Karla and Hugo can pretend, the rest of us can too. Al says it is a done deal, divorce and we will be a happy family. She kisses Nameless and Al says give me one too. He kisses her forehead and it is off to bed (I mean in her own room, stop people, by herself). Oh yeah and Al warns her to be careful, cause Hugo is BSC. Mili says Hugo would never hurt her. Well not unless he has superglue remover and can detach Karla.

Consti and Andrea are rolling around. Now I missed this too, maybe it is just the effect nasty Andrea has on me, but I think that she thinks they can control Damien if Karla gets pregnant by Hugo.
--Really I don’t know so feel free to comment—

NEXT DAY

Blondie has stopped by to see Mili, she gives her the letter. Being this is a TeleNovela, Mili doesn’t read it.

Chaumaco is in the kitchen with Gloria and Sorrocito, he ignores Gloria. Sorrocito starts talking to him about movies, she says something about him going to the movies that night. Well will Gloria ask him?
She does, he says he will go. Hooray, I hope he isn’t jerking her around. Gloria is thrilled.

Mili is in the CrossRoads room with Al here comes, Andrea. She makes some digs about Mili and Al and the marriages falling apart. Mili fires back that Andrea was the amante of Al, Consti, Damien. Andrea acts all righteous and Al says “Please, you have done every man in the family”. Andrea slaps Al and Mili hauls off and gives her a serious smack, she slapped her so hard, I was rubbing my cheek. Andrea goes to grab Mili, but Al pulls her back. Hugo, walks up and says what is the problem, you and Al are Amantes. Mili feels really bad and Andrea gloats.

Hey let’s go see Luci, She is looking pretty bad. She is thirsty and water doesn’t quench the thirst. The doctor is telling her that getting sober is tough. The hallucinations, the nausea, the shakes (and her hands are indeed shaking). She brings up Mili and Rocky, yes the doctor tells her that they were there. She says she said awful things to Mili, the doctor says, “Not really, no worse than you have talked to her for like five years now”. No he didn’t really, but if Miss Sanchez would let me sit in on her class, he would have said it. Instead, the doctor tells her that Mili understands, that she was detoxing and things tend to get messy. Luci says Rocky and Mili found her. Luci remembers parts of it. She says she would have died like a dog in the street, Mili saved her, she gave her warmth when Luci was so cold. (I still cringe at that scene).
Luci says she treated Rocky and Mili very badly, she thought she was so much better than them. Yes indeed, the doctor says they have hearts of gold. The doctor asks if Luci wants to see her children, No they are better off thinking she is dead. She ruined their lives, they hate her. She does want to see Rocky and Mili again. Then Luci says she can’t pay the bill, she has no money. The doctor says no worries Mili has paid the bill. That Mili, seriously they broke the mold with that one.

Later the chiclets discuss, Mili feels bad about Hugo. The conversation changes to the awesomeness of Gloria and Chaumaco…Brau comes and tells his sobrina that Damien wants to talk to her.

Damien has the papers for Mili to sign, remembering her conversation with Al about being a family and feeling more than a little guilty about Hugo, she signs…..

The end or everything I can remember.

NOW…tomorrow Mili reads the letter, Blah, Blah, Blah oh yeah and Hugo had a woman in his room when you were with Al, so actually Hugo cheated first…..

Mili is totally pissed, hello Mili you are so young, but don’t you recall, Al often told you it was only sex, when he nailing anything that moved, see with men it is only a little fun, just sex, it didn’t mean anything…If you don’t believe me ask your father.

Guapos: Monday 8/18/08- "A Little Game of Pass the Baby"

I watched at this last night, not taking notes, thinking I’d do that when I rewatched the episode. However, I didn’t end up taping the show, I got the Olympics instead. So I could tell you all how China won gold on the women’s trampoline competition, but that's not why you visit this site. so anyway, going on memory, with very sketchy details, I’ll try to recap. Please fill in the blank spots:

After visiting her hospital room, Mili tells Rocky that Luciana hates her. The doctor scolds Mili for disobeying his orders and going into see Luci. He tries to tell her that the ugly things Luci said is because she’s detoxing (even though she said lots of ugly things before, when she wasn’t drying out).

Mother Superior tells Padre Manuel she’s dying of cancer and has only a couple of months to live. He wants her to tell the sisters in the convent, but she doesn’t want to worry them.

Mono and Damien meet up. Damien agrees to take Mono to see Sor Cachete. Which he does, but Mono takes off before Damien can “introduce” the two of them.

Florencia tells Alejandro that she’s leaving town and taking the baby. Al vows to fight to keep his child in his life. Flo tells him he can choose to have her and the baby stay or he can be free and get together with Mili. Al seems to have a little struggle here, but then he asks to kiss the baby goodbye. He has a little tender goodbye with the baby. Marisela lights into her sister after Al leaves.

Bobby and Al are at their office. Bobby shows Al the signs that Rocky made for their office doors, Al’s says “Alejandro Belmonte, President and Owner of Mili’s heart.” Al likes it so much he hangs it up on his office door. Bobby is a little worried this will make them look really naco, but Al gets him to hang his sign up and Rocky comes in and hangs his up on his door. They discuss how they aren’t going to be a stuffy company like Constancio’s. Speaking of the king of Rome, in comes Connie. There to check out the competition he says, with a laugh. He and Al have some words exchanged and Connie leaves, and is chuckling on his way out.

Karla tries to open up to Hugo about how different she feels with him. He’s not interested in sharing feelings and tells her he assumes she’s in this to get a little money. She says quite the contrary, she’s got genuine feelings for him.

Mili goes to pray at the church and runs into PM. She tells him that she and Al weren’t able to keep their promise they made to the priest. He assures her that’s okay and that now they need to get the roadblocks cleared so Al and Mili can be together. Mili worries that Flo’s going to try to keep Al from the baby (do we have a name for her yet?). Al shows up and confirms that Flo’s threatened to take the baby away.

Socoritto asks Gloria how's it going with Chamuco. Gloria tells her about another spell she's going to brew up. Soco says why don't you try the old fashion way of getting back together with him, tell him you are sorry and ask him to go out with you. Gloria ponders the alternative.

Damien meets with Perlata and they discuss who should become head of the party. Damien mentions that Connie had an affair with a servant and there is a child floating around out there somewhere.

Al goes home and appeals to Hugo, to grant Mili a divorce. Hugo says no way. Al says that Mili will never love him, Hugo doesn’t care, it’s about pride. Karla is outside, eavesdropping on the whole conversation. The boys continue to have words exchanged and then Hugo says that keep it up Al and I’ll make sure to exercise my husbandly rights, night after night after night with Mili (so she has no say in this, that would be rape Hugo!). Until we have a child, because I’d like to have a child. Al punches him and a brawl ensues. Damien tries to break it up and to find out what this is all about.

Val and Rocky discuss their relationship as they make out on the couch. Rocky is worried Connie will catch them. Val says nothing to worry, they are engaged. She compliments Rocky on his new business and suggests that they go shopping to get him some new duds. Ramses shows up and bothers Val and Rocky. Rocky threatens to rearrange Ramses’s face and that makes the model nervous. Connie comes upon the group. He sends Ramses away, telling him to return tomorrow, much to Ramses’s chagrin. He scolds Rocky on his behavior towards his new assistant (I’m fuzzy on the rest of this---help!).

Mili goes to talk to Flo. Mili asks to hold the baby and she starts to coo. Seeing Mili with the baby and probably thinking back on Al with the baby, causes Flo to do a 180 degree turn. She tells Mili that she’s giving her the baby to care for awhile, says she needs to go find herself. Mili tries to talk her out of it, but Flo’s mind is made up. She goes to pack up the baby stuff. Marisela tries to talk Flo out of it, Flo tells her the decisions been made—Mili and Al will be better parents to the baby than she will. Mari calls her sister selfish and she suspects that this all has something to do with Rigoberto. Flo says that she thought her maternal instincts would kick in, but she just doesn’t feel it. Perhaps she only got pregnant as a way to cement herself to Al, but that didn’t work. Flo takes the baby’s stuff out to Mili and sends her on her way. She has Mari go with her, since the streets of DF aren’t safe. Before going, Mili again tries to appeal to Flo about not abandoning her baby, to no avail. Flo gets on the phone to Rigoberto and tells him they need to leave tonight before she changes her mind. END OF EPISODE.

Al Diablo Con Los Guapos #144, Friday 8-15: Good thing Mili doesn't have a "no returns, no refunds" policy

Good evening Guapistas. Welcome to a hopefully drama-filled episode where at least one thing gets resolved…or maybe that's too much to ask yet :)

The review of last night is pretty short: Sor Catalina is ready to bury her parents' ashes, aka, the place where Macarena's money is probably hidden and Madre Superior is dying.

Mili and Rocky come home. Rocky confirms with Mili that he won't say anything to Valeria. As he goes upstairs, Alejandro comes in. Mili asks how it's going with Floreenda and tells him that Hugo won't give her a divorce. Instead of consulting a lawyer, she wants to give him time to change his mind, since she's treated him so badly. *sigh* Self-flagellation isn't a pretty trait in anyone, St. Mili.

Gloria and Lina review the love spell. They have to get a picture of Chamuco. No problem, right? Well, Gloria left out the part where she has to put the pictures together at the hour of Jupiter of Venus with the sign of Leo ascending and when the moon is in Leo with a benefic aspect in Venus OR when the ruler of the seventh house forms a triangle with the ruler of the first house. Lina tells her she's nuts. What's the big deal? That's probably next Tuesday, right? No problem! Mili comes in, but won't tell the girls what's going on. Lina offends her by saying that Gloria's gone more nutty than that fruitcake Luciana. Mili gets defensive and says Luci's not crazy, startling Lina.

Valeria and Rocky smooch in her bedroom. She wonders why he looks tired, but then gets distracted by telling him she's been looking at wedding dresses, with Braulio's help. Rocky doesn't get excited about the picture she shows him. She asks again what's wrong, but he just hugs her and says everything will be fine.

Ramses comes to visit Constancio in his office. *sigh* Constancio never learns. He offers Ramses a drink and Ramses asks for some fancy spring water. Since Constancio makes a face, he says to forget it. He declines Constancio's offer of a cognac, too. Constancio makes him an offer he can't refuse…but wait, first he wants to get to know Ramses. Ramses says that he's only a model for now. When his dad, Seti I dies, he'll take over all of Egypt. Er, that is to say, the family business. Constancio offers him an opportunity to get experience in the business world. He says he needs a personal assistant and he'd be willing to pay a good salary. He promises Ramses won't be locked up in the office, he'll be working out of Casa Belmonte, where he can hang out by the pool all day scoping out Valeria. Ramses needs to think about it. Oh, honey, don't strain those two remaining brain cells--you might need them later!

At Club Macarena the lady herself, in a blue bustier, sings yet another sad love song. What happened to the red dresses? I liked the red dresses. The crowd doesn't seem to mind. Hot damn, Sheyla's got some pipes! Liz Torres gave an interview once talking about how a big body gives you a nice strong base from which to sing out. Macarena doesn't have quite enough of a base, however, to withstand the arrival of Mono Salazar! In the words of Gloria--"achis, achis!" She calls "Monito?" into the mic. She tells her bouncer to call the cops because he's here to kill her. He comes up on stage and she threatens him with the mic. They both do that heavy breathing thing that usually ends up in rabid face-sucking.

Lina apologizes for what she said about Luciana. Mili says she's just tired, is all, and they'll see each other tomorrow. La Floreenda Esa comes in, requesting an audience. Mili's on the defensive. Florencia just gently corrects Mili that her name is "Florencia" not "Floreenda." Mili doesn't back down, though. Flor says Alejandro loves Mili and always will. She's tried to get Mili out of his heart, but three years out of Mexico and a nameless baby girl haven't done it. Um, maybe if she'd actually named the baby? She says that Alejandro loves her more than ever now and she's tired of fighting a losing battle. She says she took Alejandro from Mili and now she's giving him back. Nu-uh, there's no takebacks! I mean, way to treat a man like a piece of meat. Now Mili's the one staring, with a slightly heaving bosom. But I don't think the script is going in that direction. Commercials. Florencia says "he's all yours now" and Mili gets offended at her talking about Alejandro like a pair of shoes…hm, but what kind of shoes would he be? Mili says "he's always been mine, you just didn't want to accept it." Mili's pissed that Flor is doing this now instead of doing it earlier. Flor doesn't even know if she loves him anymore, but Mili and Alejandro do love each other. She's tired of coming last on the list. She wants to be the only woman in some man's life. I'm not Flor's biggest fan, but Mili just keeps being nasty, asking why, etc….just let it go, girl. Let the crazy lady feel like she's being generous and then go get your divorce and live happily ever after with Blondie. Flor says she knows she got what she deserved and she's sorry that she never realized that Mili was innocent. She's going to leave and take the baby with her. Um, yeah, I don't think Mili's going to go for that.

Ramses is intrigued by Constancio's proposal, but he's not sure. Constancio sells it--flexibility, pay, time to keep being a model. Constancio says his job description is to keep his schedule, remind him of appointments, type some letters, go to some business dinners, go to social events…oh, Ramses likes that last bit. He confirms that he can use the pool and tan whenever he wants to, but he's also worried that Valeria won't like it. Constancio makes like a rug and says it was Valeria's idea. Ramses thinks if he takes the job he can convince his dad that he's responsible. He accepts the job. Loser.

Bodies are flying at Club Macarena. Mono is laying waste to anyone who gets between him and Macarena. She's behind the bar throwing anything breakable she can find at him. He complains that she took his money and betrayed him. She denies having the money and points out that if she did have it, she wouldn't be singing in a filthy rat-hole of a place, wearing such a skanky outfit. That's what she means, anyway. Although, I don't think the outfit's so bad…I just didn't like the color. They both get a little teary. Mono kneels on the floor and cries for his money. He sobs about how he still remembers her body and she's his goddess. Aw, see, Mono really is a sensitive man after all. Macarena makes him look her in the face and tell her again. He complains about the skankyness of the outfit, but she apparently doesn't like it either. What, would she rather be wearing a muumuu? They hug and cry. She actually looks like a tiny woman next to him. He says he was dying without her. She kisses him and the bouncer comes up and tries to bust it up, but Macarena has to explain that it's all good. Bouncer guy goes away and they hug and kiss some more.

Mili cries to Flor about taking the baby away from Alejandro. Flor just calmly explains that the law will give her the baby. She says that's the price for Alejandro getting rid of her. Mili's upset about her talking about the baby like she's something on sale at the grocery store. Flor says she's said all she wanted to say and walks out. Mili seethes.

Gloria tries to talk to Chamuco. She compliments his produce. No, that's not a euphemism. Socorro asks him for a joke, but he's not in the mood. Chamuco asks if she's heard the one about the girl who told the guy she was pregnant when she wasn't. Heh. Lina comes in with her camera, asking Socorro to pose. Then she tries to get a shot of Chamuco, but he refuses, saying he's all dirty and no wonder girls laugh at him. They all talk him into it and Lina gets her shot. He makes a joke about them using the picture for "brujeria." Now, the literal translation is "witchcraft", however the two words aren't necessarily interchangeable, as both words have multiple meanings and he's probably referring to traditional folk magic that's more common in Mexico rather than a more organized set of beliefs and practices originating from European traditions, i.e., Wicca. Anyway, Chamuco leaves and Gloria crows about having what she needs for the spell. Socorro advises her to wait before taking the film to get developed rather than leaving right on his heels, that way he won't suspect.

Back at Club Macarena, Macarena disappoints me greatly by wearing a muumu. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. At least her voice hasn't suffered with the wardrobe change. Oh, oh, oh! Mono's singing with her. He's not that great, but I'm enjoying the moment. Wow, she's really short. They sing a song about waiting for each other. The bouncer applauds, but he seems to be the only one left. Macarena tells him to come take the microphones. Mono pulls out a chair for her so they can sit at a table together. He says he hasn't had a woman the whole time he's been locked up…until last night. Oh, I see, that's why she's so happy. Uh, and also that now it's the day after. Mono asks about the money. Macarena says she didn't know what to do when he got caught, so she put the money in with her parents' ashes. Ding, ding, ding! Score a point for all of us who saw that coming. She says she had to roll the bills up tight, but they fit. The problem is, only her sister Catalina knows where the ashes are.

Sor Catalina puts dad's ashes, then mom's, into a crypt. An nice young man puts the door on. Padre Manuel says it's better this way and he'll have a plaque put up with their names on it. Sor Cachete encourages Madre Superior to talk to Padre Manuel right there and now. MS is pissed off.

Mono is surprised to hear that Macarena has a twin. Macarena says she's only had one lead, but the guy took off. Mono guesses it was Damian and remembers that Damian said she was a nun. He's going to go get the info from Damian. Macarena thinks it's funny her sister became a nun and she's glad that now Mono knows she didn't betray him. She says she's happy he's out now, so she can eat him all up. Mono asks if that's just a saying, but she denies it.

Gloria is wrapping up the pictures of her and Chamuco with an entire roll of red ribbon. At that rate, they'll not only end up back together, but married and popping out a kid every nine or ten months. She reminds Socorro and Lina that they have to wait for the hour of Jupiter or Venus, etc. but she forgets the rest. Socorro and Lina both think she's nuts. Socorro jokes that they should call information and ask about the hour.

Valeria finds Ramses sunning by the pool. He tells her he's working for her dad. She doesn't believe it. He says he's daddy's new personal assistant. Valeria says she's going to go clear this up right away.

Bobby and Rocky are decorating the new office. Some moving guys come in with a desk. Rocky jokes about having a hot secretary. Now he wants his name in much bigger letters on the door. Bobby turns the sign around and sees that it says "Ricardo "Rocky" Juarez, Director of Projects and Only Love of Valeria." Well, you've gotta give him points for enthusiasm. Bobby's not feeling it. He says Rocky can't hang it. Rocky's also made one for Bobby: "Bobby Senderos, Vice President and Lina's Main Man". Do I even want to know what Alejandro's says? Bobby doesn't like this sign either and says it's not professional. Bobby vetoes getting a look at Alejandro's. Awwwww. Bobby has to explain about professionalism. The Cliffs Notes version, of course. Rocky lets slip that he's meeting Mili to go somewhere, but covers before he says it's "To visit my future mother-in-law in the hospital where she's detoxing." He leaves and Bobby hides the signs behind a painting.

Valeria comes in, in a robe, to chew out her dad. Um, you might have more of an impact if you got fully dressed first. I'm just saying. She complains that he's never needed a personal assistant before. He tells her she's being capricious and it'll pass. He says he's giving Ramses the opportunity to learn about business and reminds her that he no longer has Bobby and Alejandro to publicly humiliate. Valeria still insists that he fire Ramses. Constancio says he can't and he can't send him to the office either. Valeria accuses him of doing it so she has problems with Rocky. Constancio plays dumb. Valeria finally insists that Ramses be told not to come near her.

Alejandro comes downstairs and runs into Mili, who is off to visit Luciana, but lies and says she's going to visit Sor Cachete. She asks where Florencia is and Alejandro says she didn't come home last night and left him a message that she and the baby are at Marisela's apartment. Mili breaks it to him that Florencia is going to leave him and is going to take the baby with her. Mili begs him to go after her and not let her take the baby away from him. Alejandro is impactado.

Braulio can't resist the sight of a shirtless Ramses and comes over to chat about skin care. And ogle his chest. Ramses announces that he's the new personal assistant of Constancio. Braulio flirts with an oblivious Ramses. Valeria comes back, throws a towel at Ramses and tells him to go do some work. She wants to tan and he's in her spot. Ramses says she's afraid that the chauffeur will get mad. Valeria says that he's not a chauffeur anymore (no more uniform?) and that he's just gone into business with her brother. Ramses seems slightly surprised, but his face doesn't really move, what with all that Botox he's probably already had.

Alejandro calls Marisela's apartment and asks to talk to Florencia, but Florencia won't talk to him. Gloria comes up to ask Alejandro about finding the right hour for the spell. I hate to break it to Gloria, but what she's looking for is going to take some math. Alejandro finally says that he knows what the hour is…it's the hour to run away! And he does. Gloria pouts.

The Doc breaks it to Mili and Rocky that Luci is doing better, but is still detoxing. She's back to her old, crabby self. He still thinks it's best not to tell the family until she's better. He won't let Mili in to see her, even though she begs. A nurse comes looking for him. Mili decides she's sneaking in. Luciana's tied down, begging for a drink. She's still got a nasty black eye. She asks for drinks and mutters about some barking dogs and then orders everyone out before asking for more alcohol again. Mili gives a desperate, fast-talking pep talk. Luciana takes the opportunity to insult Mili some more and tell her she'll end up alone, just like her mother. Then she goes back to screaming about the worms that are eating her from the inside. The doctor comes in to hustle Mili out of the room and say "I told you so!" Meanwhile Luci says she's thirsty and asks whoever she's seeing not to take the bottle.

Alejandro goes over to Marisela's apartment, but she tries to say that Flor isn't there. Flor finally comes out of the bedroom and tells Alejandro to go see the baby. She says she's confused and being with Rigoberto is making her question who she should be with. She tells him if she leaves, she's taking the baby with her and asks him what she should do.

Monday: Ramses gets on Rocky and Valeria's nerves, Flor and Alejandro have words, and we are promised big stuff happening as we are in Ultimas Semanas.

Guapos Thursday, August 14, 2008: Down and out in the DF

It’s nighttime.

Rehash: Karla is bummed that Hugo has destroyed her painting. Hugo says you know how I am, and then he says If something is mine, I have the right to destroy it. Whoa! Run, Mili, run! Karla primes Hugo’s hormones and the heavy smooching begins.

The three gal pals are sitting on the bed and Gloria is blubbering. Socorro brings a tea and they joke around, trying to get Gloria to laugh, which she does, but then goes back to blubbering. If she loses Chamuco she’ll just die. He went all cold when she told him the truth about not being pregnant. Waaaaa!

Alex tells Valeria that he tried to call the clinic to talk to their ma, but they kept putting him off. The two decide to go see her tomorrow. They decide that if the doctors tell them they can’t see her, they’ll understand because the doctors know what’s best for her. Vale says she misses her and Alex says me too.

Apparently Bloody Mary has told Luci that she can stay overnight at her home and now they’ve arrived at chez BM, namely an alley full of far-gone bums, trash and graffiti. BM says the newspapers are nice and comfy. Luci, hugging a bottle, looks lost and scared. Kids, these are professional stunt drunks – do not try this at home.

Mili is out walking in the garden in the garden and Alex steps out to take some air. He is remembering their lovetalk on the island. He remembers telling her he wants to die in her arms at age 90, and he remembers their tender kiss.

Mili walks up and he is surprised. She touches his face tentatively and he touches her shoulder. He comes in closer, but she says not until we’re free. He swears to fight for their love. She says don’t give up! Don’t ever lose hope.

The sun rises over the DF.

Mini-bites: Alex is trying to change the baby’s diaper and Mili comes in, laughs, and shows him how. Flor and Rigo are walking in a heavily-wooded park, laughing and talking, and they walk off, he with his arm around her. Bobby’s trying to get a loan at the bank, but he gets refused. Chamuco is unloading groceries and Gloria is trying to talk to him, but he stuffs cotton in his ears. Alex is selling his giant Extinction SUV to a dealer. Bobby and Rocky show up and they exult – the first money! Looks like Bobby has sold the condo (I hope that’s not the family home). Rocky is signing off on something with the Rodeo owner and he receives a check. The three guys exult some more. Maybe he sold Taco Naco? Luci tries to steal booze out of a delivery truck. The trucker shoves her off and BM runs up while he’s not looking and grabs a couple of bottles. A decorator has just finished Andrea’s makeover of Luci’s room and Andrea loves it. No wonder, there are big portraits of her on the walls. Luci is in a shopping area, huddled against a trashcan, begging. She looks wretched, dirty, her hair a mess. Two ladies take pity on her and Luci’s hands shake as she accepts the coins. Mili is giving Rocky finishing lessons in proper speech. Luci is leaning against a wall and it looks like she has a cut on her face. BM comes up and hands her a bottle and they head off.

In the kitchen Mili is talking to Glora and Lina as they scrub the place. They tease Lina about not showing yet, but she says she’s just a month along. Mili says she was just with Flor’s baby, so endearing! She just doesn’t understand how Flor have so little interest in her. The girls agree and wonder where Flor goes all the time, she’s surely not working. Lina says that Bobby’s less available now that he’s starting a new business, and Gloria says well at least he’s talking to you, not like Chamuco with me.

Mili says she’s got to run – Sor Cachete has asked her to accompany her, but Mili’s not sure where, maybe to do some fundraising, so she takes off. Lina says she hates to see Gloria so sad and she’ll help her get Chamuco back.

At her apartment, Mari is tying to talk sense into Flor. She can’t believe that Flor has spent all this time with her ex while leaving the baby with a cook. Flor doesn’t look at all repentant, in fact she’s smiling, and she says Socorro loves the baby, plus she’s sure that when she’s gone, Mili runs right in to be with the baby. Mari says great, you’re giving your rival more ammo and besides your baby needs you.

Flor says I’m trying to re-make my life. Do you know how long it’s been since I was in love, since I was kissed by a man who was passionate, not one who is cold and distant? Rigo makes me feel like a woman again. Mari says you’re not a young girl! You have to think of the baby first. Flor says could you go now? Rigo is about to come and I want to be alone with him. Mari gives up and says whatever.

Mari encounters Rigo on her way out. She rolls her eyes and leaves. Rigo springs over the couch takes the happy Flor into his arms. They smooch and a tenor sax wails.

Alex, Bobby and Rocky are high-fiving in a nice spacious and modern wood-floored office with not a stick of furniture but there is one big potted palm. The logo on the wall says AB&R Construction. Alex pops open a bottle of champagne and they toast. Rocky looks like yuck when he tastes it. Bobby notes that they have few clients and that the rent is going to eat up all their money. Alex says don’t worry, we’re just beginning.

Alex says he sold his car but he’ll get another. Rocky says he’s sold Taco Naco but he’ll get another and another and have franchises. It seems that was his parents’ house that Bobby sold. I’m not sure, but I think he said that when they heard about his plans, they gave him the green light.

Rocky says he promised to meet Mili and Sor Cachete and he takes off. Alex’s cell rings – uh oh, it’s Marsela, who tells Alex to come to her apartment right away. Flor is in there alone with her ex. Alex is impactado.

We see Connie in his office talking to the good padre. He’s telling about Alex’s plans and the padre says gosh, you must be proud. Connie says he wanted to save him from disaster, so he told the banks not to lend to him. The padre says that’s a helluva thing to do to your son. Connie says I offered him the position of my right-hand man here and he told me to go to hell. I’d rather have that idiot Rocky as a partner.

The padre wants to know why he hasn’t been asked to marry Vale and Rocky. He’s plenty incensed, heck, he’s like part of the family so what’s up? Connie fumbles around and says you will marry them of course, when they do the church wedding, after they’ve been married for a while and are sure. The padre grunts.

Rigo and Flor are kissing, but she says no pressure please. Rigo says come away with me and bring the baby too. Flor says she’s confused, so Rigo says I’m not going to wreck your life, I’m going to fix it. Flor hesitates and he backs off and says you don’t believe me. Just say the word and I’m outta here, but I’m thinking maybe you still love me. Flor doesn’t want to say, but Rigo says your lips already told me. They go to kiss and doorbell rings and she jumps a mile. Rigo says don’t be so nervous, it’s Mari for sure. Flor goes to the door and says Who is it? Alex says it’s me, Alexandro. Time for an ad or two!

A tight little alley is full of street people sleeping and there is totally trashed-out Luci shaking with the DTs while BM worries. Luci sees the white light and right in the middle of it is Abuelita’s head, sending out rays and saying your children need you. Live! LIVE! Wow, that was pretty weird.

Here come Mili, the Sor and Rocky, tending to the poor. BM tells Mili she’s worried about this lady and Mili, not recognizing Luci, puts blankets over her and asks if she wants to see a doctor. Like something from Tales from the Crypt, Luci sticks out a bony hand and clutches Mili. Milagros! she gasps, don’t let me die. She is sobbing. Mili says Luciana?

Back at the apartment, Flor tells Rigo to hide while Alex pounds on the door. Everyone knows cheating lovers hide in the closet, everyone that is but Rigo, who decides to squat behind the kitchen counter. Alex starts asking questions. Why didn’t you open up? F: I didn’t want to talk to you. A: Why aren’t you home with the baby? F: I wanted to see my sister. A: and where is said sister? F: Leave! A: Why don’t you want me to be here? F: You bother me. A: okay, I’m off. Say hi to your ex for me.

Alex leaves, smiling. Flor and Rigo embrace. Busted!

In the alley, Mili tells Rocky to run for a doctor. Luci says I need a drink, I need a drink. Rocky says she’s as bad as my mother-in-law. (Where did Luci get that black eye?) It takes some convincing on the part of Mili for Rocky and Sor Cachete to realize it’s Luci. Rocky says Luci’s in the nuthouse and maybe she has a twin, and Mili says this isn’t a telenovela. Sor Cachete says it’s not a sin to have a twin, which, too bad, doesn’t rhyme in Spanish. Rocky runs for the car.

Bloody Mary tells Luci not to go to the cantina nobody returns from. Mili lays her head on Luci’s chest. Luci, shaking violently, holds her to her and runs her hand tenderly through Mili’s hair.

In the kitchen, Socorro is showing Lina a magazine about pregnancy which has diet, fashion and medical advice. Lina says Horacio must be excited about being a granddaddy. Socorro says he sure is.

Gloria has a big thick book of love spells and thinks if she tries some of them, she’ll get Chamuco back. Socorro and Lina are skeptical.

Flor and Rigo are trying to figure out how Alex knew they were together. Rigo suggests Bobby, but Flor says Bobby thinks she refused to speak to Rigo. They can’t think of anybody who ratted them out. Rigo says that guy doesn’t love you – he didn’t look jealous at all, but you look upset. Flor says of course because now how can I reproach him? About that Miligros girl? asks Rigo. Flor rips up the flor she is holding. Come away with me, says Rigo. Flor asks for time to get her mind straight.

In the waiting room of the hospital, Mili is pacing with nerves and Rocky is pacing with her. Sor Cachete tries to explain that a medical exam takes a while. Mili is beside herself wanting to know what the doctors have to say. The Sor suggests going to the cafeteria to eat and wait, but Mili says she’s not leaving. Finally the handsome family doctor comes out and tells them that Luci is in critical condition and that they saved her life by bringing her in.

Alex is hanging over the side of the very fancy brass crib, looking at the baby. Flor comes in and they eye each other. She wants to know why no questions. He says why? She says I ran you out. He says no, I went out on my own, that’s different. She confesses that she was with her ex, but she says nothing happened and they were just talking. She wants to know how he found out and Alex says Mari told me.

Sor Cachete tells Mili that seeing Luci that way would be a shock for Alex and Vale and that it’s better not to call them. Rocky agrees.

Braulio and Vale are having a grand time looking at bridal magazines which are spread out all over her bed. Braulio says get three dresses, one for the church, one for the reception and one for the photos. Vale sighs happily. But then she turns serious and says for her first marriage, Luci helped her pick. Braulio says that her mother is off getting well and will be with them for the wedding for sure, but you have me. You? says Vale, smiling. Braulio says he has exquisite taste. Vale says do you expect me to give you one of my dresses? Braulio fans himself and says the outfit that he wore to Connie’s speech was meant to be a joke. Braulio begins to swish slowly about the room, breathlessly imagining wedding gown, the waist, the sweeping train, the delicate veil! Vale claps and squeals. They high five.

Spy Guy has researched Ramses and he’s telling Connie that he comes from a very good family. Ramses’ parents are divorced, but his father is a very powerful man. Connie grunts with pleasure. He picks up the phone and says he is calling his future son-in-law.

The handsome doctor tells Mili, Rocky and Sor Cachete that Luci can’t have visitors because detoxification is a long and painful process. Sor Cachete says couldn’t she stay with her and offer a spiritual presence to support her? The doctor says don’t worry, she’ll be watched around the clock. He wants to know if the family has been notified and Mili says not yet – they think she’s in an institution. The doctor says I know. Why don’t you all go home and rest up? Apparently nobody is worried about who has her medical powers of attorney or about privacy laws.

Mili and Rocky leave and Sor Cachete asks the doctor why he’s been visiting the Mother Superior. The doctor is suddenly all about patient privacy and says you have to ask her yourself.

Flor is telling off Mari for ratting her out to Alex, and says why don’t you go straighten out your own life which by the way is a disaster? Mari says she is worried about her. Flor says it’s one thing to worry about me, it’s another to make decisions for me. Mari says you have problems with Alex already and you are just making them worse. Go tell Alex that your ex is making you feel things, talk to him. Alex wants to separate and you are leaning toward accepting Rigo’s proposal. Your marriage started out badly because you lied, don’t make it end badly. Mari goes to leave then turns and says do the right thing for once.

Sor Cachete is talking to the MS and says she’s thought it over and she’s going to inter her parents’ ashes in a niche in the church. The MS is glad and says now they can really rest in peace. The sor is sad because her sister can’t be there to do it with her and the MS says maybe it’s best to realize you may never see her again.

Then Sor Chachete asks why the doctor has been coming and says she’s been so worried. The MS says okay, but you mustn’t tell anyone. The sor says that she is pretty leaky when it comes to keeping secrets and MS says then I can’t tell you. Sor Cachete gets frantic and says please tell me. The MS says I’m dying. Freeze frame.

Avances: Flor tells Mili that she’s tired of trying to hang onto Alex and she’s handing him back to Mili.

Guapos Wednesday 8/13/08 "Let the Sun Shine In"

We interrupt this broadcast for a cross-cultural event. No, not the Olympics, which I am also following. Last night, I was privileged to attend the 40th anniversary revival production of "Hair" in Central Park. (Tickets are free if you are willing to wait on line in the park all day for them. Or you can buy some in advance, which I was lucky enough to be able to do.) It was a magical night, sitting under the stars with almost a full moon, hearing some of the greatest music ever written performed by a stellar cast of young hopefuls (who, of course, were not even born when the show premiered in 1968). The crowd runs on stage to dance at the end.

I saw the show on Broadway in 1971, when I was in high school (and a member of the "American Tribal Love Rock Musical" generation), but this experience was more powerful with the benefit of hindsight to give perspective to the yearnings of youth. The songs hold up really well. If anyone can get here to see it, I recommend it without reservation. (In case you can't tell, I really liked it!)

Okay, back to earth: Don't worry, fans--I still watched Guapos.

We review Tuesday's flashbacks: Connie is trying to make amends with Al, and Bobby is over at Marisela's awaiting the arrival of the star-crossed lovers Rigo and Flor. I avert my eyes when I see how Marisela's loud red print Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dress clashes with the loud lime green print decor of her apartment. Marisela is taking the 70s thing too far.
Flor arrives and wants to know what's going on. The bell rings, and Thuggybear is at the door. I'm sorry, I'm just not feeling the love--he's got the bad ponytail, and he also has a childish smile. He tries to tell her that everything was her dad's fault, and Bobby chimes in in support, but she leaves.

Back at the office, Connie is losing the high ground he has achieved by demeaning Al's efforts. His father (Connie's father, I guess) built up one of the greatest companies in Mexico, and all Al did was plaster his pretty face on posters. He claims he's trying to protect Al from himself. Al reminds him that he's not his father, but Connie says he's the father who gave him a name. Al says he's always been an obstacle, but Connie wants him to be VP. Too bad he's got a blunderbuss method of offering the peace pipe. Al says it's too little too late, and he's starting his own business. Connie thinks he's taking money from Nestor, but Al says he's joining forces with Bobby. Connie thinks they'll last no more than three months. Al says he's also adding Rocky to the team. Now Connie scoffs that they'll only last a month. Connie roars with fake devilish laughter. Then Al leaves and Connie ceases laughing.

Flor meets Thuggy in the hall, and he persuades her to adjourn to a nearby Starbucks and give him 20 minutes to explain.

Comic relief segment: Chamuco is delivering the wrong order to Socorro and is falling asleep on his feet from having too many jobs. He thinks he's driving a taxi and wakes up and wonders why Socorro is there.

Lina, Mili and Gloria are watching the baby, who is still unnamed. They joke about naming her Milagros. They wonder what Lina's baby will be named, and they go through some funny choices. Mili will be Godmother. Then they turn to Gloria, and they seem to have persuaded her to reveal the non-pregnant truth to Chamuco.

Back to the kitchen. Chamuco is out cold, and Dr. Rocky shines a flashlight in his eyes. This is like what happened to a friend of his, of course. They prepare a giant funnel and pour coffee down his throat (call PETA, as it looks like the apparatus they use to force feed geese for fois gras) , but he barely wakes up. Gloria comes in and asks to be left alone with Chamu. She reveals the truth, but he is still fast asleep. Finally, she gets him awake and tells him the truth, and he turns and walks out silently. Socorro gives her a hug. I'm sure this will not be the last we see of Chamuco.

Luci is back on the street with her filthy drunken friend, who we now learn is the mysterious Bloody Mary (real name Maria). BM wants Luci to tell her her name, and Luci lies and says it's Enriqueta. BM baptizes her with a nickname, "Jaybolera." I can't find anything about what this might mean. BM will school Luci in street smarts.

Over at Starbucks, today's product placement shows that Flor nurses a grande latte while Thuggy dips into a venti. Flor still doesn't believe his story about how her father "disappeared" him, so he shows her a bullet hole in his chest. As best as I can understand, dad's goon shot him and left him for dead. Rigo begs forgiveness but he was too scared to come forward and reveal himself. He still loves her and asks if she is happy. Music booms ominously.

Al packs to leave the office and flirts with the new girl on the way out. Enter Hugo and Damian on the elevator. This is a good opportunity for Damian to chastise Hugo about how he's letting his wife wear the pants. Hugo vows to do better.

Back at the bag lady academy, it's Shoplifting 101 at the supermercado, as BM teaches Luci how to create a distraction. Luci drops a bottle of water from the refrigerator while BM steals two bottles of booze. They repair to a nearby trashpile and each slugs joyously from her own personal bottle. Luci's attention is suddenly drawn through her stupor to the shreds of junk next to her, from which she extracts a perfectly clean copy of today's paper, showing "Constancio Belmonte is innocent." She is outraged.

Back to Starbucks. Flor says that Al never loved her, but she had hope that he would come to love her. She admits she doesn't really know if she loves Al either, there's lots of fighting and bitterness in their relationship. And he has another love. Rigo says he's an idiot for not recognizing what a great woman he has. Rigo asks her to dump Al and come with him. Too soon: Flor leaves in a huff, and he smiles goofily.

Connie and Damian are back at the office discussing politics. Damian cautions Connie that if Mili's parentage is revealed it would still be a big scandal. Connie is outraged, but Damian tells him that's no way to talk to the future party president. Connie sputters.

Al tries to change a diaper on nameless baby (he calls her Princesa). They're using a real baby today, so they are obligated to bleep out her tiny tushy for our sensitive eyes. Flor comes in and lies about her whereabouts while continuing to ignore baby. She feels Al out--is there hope for them? Maybe they should go out tonight, but he doesn't want to. She offers to forgive him for his transgressions if he'll make an effort, and he reminds her that he's not about to forgive her for hers. She says she loves him, but just in time Marisela shows up, still wearing the eye-shattering dress.

Al leaves the room, and Mari pumps sis for information. Marisela cuddles the baby while Flor looks on coldly. Mari doesn't believe Rigo's story, but Flor tries to convince her.

Having finished their bottles of booze, BM and Luci look for new opportunities. BM says they'll go to a local bar where the patrons will spend money on them, 'cause Luci still has her looks. She only has one or two layers of filth, while BM is in the 9th circle of hell. They sit at a table where some random guy takes Luci on his lap and says the words that are music to her ears: Tequila and Whiskey for all! (The bar owner must be reading Star Magazine, because they have adopted the new Hollywood trend of "bottle service.")

Mili comes into Hugo's studio and sees the painting of Karla. Hugo walks in. Cut to commercial as impactado looks sink in. Back from commercial, Mili expresses outrage. When did he paint this? Hugo says he did it three years ago when he had amnesia and he was with Karla at Andrea's house. (Guapos historians: pop quiz at 11.) Why did he save it? Going on the offensive, he says who is she to ask? She's the traitor. He'll never forgive her. She leaves, and he smashes the painting on a chair.

Mari wants to know if Flor will go back to Rigo to get revenge on Alex. She is unsure of her motives. Al comes to the door and asks if he's interrupting. Oops.

Back at the bar, Luci's swain has gone to the bathroom, and she wants to get out, but BM reminds her that there are further opportunities for scams. Another guy comes along and flirts with our fallen flower. The first guy comes back and starts a fight, leaving BM and Luci the opportunity to flee with two more bottles of hootch.

Rocky comes to see Mili, who is moping in her room. Why is her happiness so short? She was so happy when she forgot everything but Al and her and how their two hearts beat as one (flashback to island). Rocky says that everyone knows she and Al were meant to be together. Flor and Hugo knew, so where's the betrayal? (Again, Rocky still doesn't know about Flor's real betrayal, as he is still in the dark about Mili's parentage.)

Flor is in her room ignoring the baby. She now flashes back to the argument with Hugo at the hotel, where he told her that she had ruined everyone's life.

Over to Hugo, who is making like Lady Macbeth in his studio. He is rubbing his hands together, and then hitting one hand with another to stop it from acting naughty. Then to hammer it home, he flashes back on the painting incident. (Students, there is no doubt anymore that Hugo is the mad slasher.) Karla comes in and wants to know what happened to her painting. He tells her that it's his, and he had a right to destroy it. Not realizing how psycho he is, she jokingly tries to get him to paint another. Methinks Hugo is headed for the manicomio pronto.

Avances: Flor kisses Rigo while Al knocks at the door.
