Wed March 7 - Duelo - Gaspar gets some Action

Dr Z and Don Loco talk after Dr. Z’s examination of Soledad. Dr Z tells Don Loco that Soledad isn’t crazy. Don Loco pretends that he had figured that out some time ago. He starts in on all of Soledad’s other lies, the corporal etc. Dr. Z explains that Soledad asked him to not tell Loco and to help keep up the charade. Dr. Z, all of a sudden all full of self importance, tells Loco he feels like this isn’t correct to do. Don Loco tells him he still wants a certificate of craziness. Dr. Z hesitates and Loco comes in for the kill. He starts to goad Dr. Z on his past mistake; a young man killed himself because of a mistake by Dr. Z. Don Loco tortures Dr Z with the details of his mistake. He taunts that Z’s attorney saved him from jail. He doesn’t have anymore professional ethics. Dr Z takes Locos words hard. He rants about his mistake and what he should have done. Don Loco rolls his eyes as he listens. He offers Dr. Z a stack of cash for the fake certificate. Don Loco runs this thumb through the money telling Z that he must be needing money after years of not working. Dr Z looks at the cash.
Angel and Nurse Suzy chat. He whines about how Alina deceived him, the worst deception of his life. Suzy asks Angel questions, offering a comforting ear. Angel admits that its time to give up on Alina. He cant save her. Boo Hoo.

Emilio is at the army work site not really paying attention. He talks to himself about Alina.

Elias is at home nervously pacing his floor. The phone rings and he answers expecting Blanca. Its not, it’s a neighbor. He asks if the neighbor has seen her. No. He runs off talking to himself about where could she be.

Nora in the RED dress stands by the river arguing with Sergio. He pushes her into the water and rides off. As Sylvia noted, poor Nora just doesn’t fill out that dress like Thelma did. Even wet. Nora gets out of the water and walks off cursing Sergio.

Luba smokes in her rocking chair talking to herself that Nora wont come. She worries that Gaspar will never find a woman that loves him. Is she high? Gaspar meanwhile looks like an angel sitting in a corner of the cave.

Alina cries to Coral about her heart necklace that Thelma was wearing. She cries that she saw it on Thelma. Worse yet that Emilio told Thelma the same words that he told her when he gave it to her! Boo Hoo. Coral quickly figures out that this hasn’t happened like Alina is saying. She questions Alina if she is sure that Emilio said these things. Ahhh you think? Alina talks in a baby voice about these injustices. Coral goes on to say that Emilio doesn’t even like one bit of that woman. Coral is sure Thelma lied! Alina is slow to take this in. Coral continues that Thelma must of stolen the necklace or something…. Alina, not crying now, whines a last time about how much Emilio has hurt her. She doesn’t want to see him again.

Emilio goes to visit Angel and finds him wheezing for air on his bed. Angel tells him that he doesn’t want to take his medicine. He is upset about Alina. Why would she want to be in that place! Emilio answers that Alina wants to be there. The men act clueless about why Alina would prefer to be there than with them. Emilio goes to find the doctor so they can give more or better medicine to Angel. Angel, in a coughing fit, claims he wants to die, nothing more. Suzy comes in to comfort Angel. She tells him he will get cured and he will find a new love. Angel is stunned. What new love! Who! Suzy kneels by his bedside and tells him that she loves him.

Dr. Z signs the crazy certificate. Don Loco is happy. He tells Dr. Z that now no one will doubt Soledad’s insanity. She will learn not to play with him. Dr Z wonders if that is the only intention Loco has for the certificate.

Blanca arrives at the work cabin of Elias with a police detective. Elias is not there. The detective says that they need to arrive early to the hacienda to detain Don Loco, they cant wait for Elias. Blanca argues that Elias is another witness. The detective says they can find him later. What’s important is to see Don Loco. They leave for the Montellano hacienda.

Angel compares Suzy’s affection for him to a pet. She claims she has had feelings for him the whole time she has been taking care of him. She begs him to take his medicine, to get better. He agrees to take his medicine. Cough Cough.

Alina cries with Granillo about Emilio. Granillo tells her that all men are bad blah blah blah. Alina cries into her pillow as Granillo tries to impart his wisdom. His words aren’t making her feel better. She tells him that she hopes that Emilio never comes to see her again. She is not going to let him make fun of her ever again!

Sergio spots Blanca and the detective arriving at the hacienda by coach. Inside the coach Blanca gets more and more nervous as the coach crosses into Don Locos property. The detective tells her that she can’t accompany him in her nervous condition. He tells her that she will have to wait in the cabin. The coach turns around to return Blanca to the cabin.

Alina has straightened herself out and is dressed for the evenings festivities. She talks with Coral about the Emilio situation again. Coral is still disbelieving that Emilio is as bad as Alina says. Coral relents saying its all too bad because Emilio was Alina’s last hope. Alina claims she has one more hope, her godmother Blanca.

Thelma and the singing aunt laugh about what Thelma did to Alina. They laugh and laugh at Thelma’s cruel trick. Thelma even told Alina that Alina could trust her and to count on her to be her friend! Ha Ha! Thelma announces that now she can await the birth of her child without any fears. Plus she is going to work on winning over Emilio. She is going to fight for him!

The tall good doctor tells Emilio that Angel is sensitive. They could give him all the medicine in the world but it wont do him any good if his emotions aren’t taken care of. He tells Emilio that they need to take care of not only Angels body but his heart. Emilio agrees with the doctors conclusions. He tells the doctor how Angel wanted to marry Alina. The doctor tells Emilio well then they should let Angel marry Alina.

Don Loco goes into Soledad’s room. She gets up to greet him with a smile on her face. She quickly looses it when Don Loco starts ranting about how she isn’t crazy. The doctor told him so! Don Loco gives a backhand swing to Soledad’s face. She falls to the floor crying why did you hit me! He yells at her that she is a liar! Gosh I dislike this!

The good doctor tells Emilio that the best medicine for Angel is Alina Montellano. Emilio tells him that he will never give Angel that remedy.

Luba and Gaspar sit down for dinner. They talk over their worries about Flor and Gaspar’s broken heart. Gaspar knows that Luba’s herbs cant cure him. Luba tells him to pray to the Virgencita to cure him. Gaspar likes the idea. He will pray that the Virgin help him and that she help Flor too. Mother and son hug below the picture of the Virgin.

Don Loco shows Soledad the crazy certificate. She is shocked. Don Loco taunts that now the whole world will believe that she is just a poor lunatic. Sergio enters with news of Blanca’s return. He tells Loco that Blanca has arrived with a man whose face looks like a policeman.

Orlando and Edelmira discuss business. The business of Flor. Orlando argues that he has given her a lot of money and he wants to take Flor out of there. Edelmira yells that no the boss would kill her! But so that they will still get along she will get Flor ready for Orlando tonight. She will let Orlando be the first one to deflower (pick) Flor. Orlando gets a creepy look on his face.

Castulo and the other smart guard Ingenio talk about Gaspar. Castulo admits that Luba and Gaspar are good people even if the boss gave an order to shoot them. Castulo also admits that he owes a debt to Gaspar. He then thinks in his mind that once he is presented with an opportunity he will take Thelma to Gaspar’s cave. Don Max comes outside yelling to the men to stop talking and for Ingenio to move to another area. Don Max grunts asking if Castulo is still seeing Thelma. Castulo denies it. He tells Don Max that he wants to show he is trying to do right by Don Max. He has something interesting to tell him….. He has heard that Santos has left the sierra and that he and Rosita have broken up. Don Max laughs his little gross little laugh. This is good news. He he he.

Emilio, army cap in hand, comes to see Alina. Some of the working girls heckle him. Coral comes out and grabs him to go chat. Edelmira yells at the others to get back to work.

Rosita cries to her father that she misses Santos. Her father tells her to go fight for him. Go to San Mateo and fight for him. Rosita smiles through her tears.

Santos and his sister/mother discuss Rosita. He is suffering for her. His hot mami tries to talk sense into him about how the two of them are made for each other. Santos gets mad. He is trying to forget her!

Coral and Emilio walk through a coffee field. Strange I didn’t know their were fields so close to town and the fine establishment of Edelmiras. Coral asks if he gave the heart necklace to Thelma. Emilio yells that no Thelma stole it! Emilio is angry to learn that Thelma told Flor it was hers. Coral tells him that Thelma hates Flor. Duh really. Seems like this is new news for Emilio. He has never thought that Thelma might not like Flor before. Emilio wants to talk to Flor but Coral advises that now is not the time. Emilio starts yelling that he cant permit Flor to stay there! They begin to argue about the circumstances. C - Well why don’t you take her out? E - Cause she wants to be there! C - Oh please Emilio! She is terribly afraid of Alvaro Montellano. E - Oh! Emilio looks as if a light has been turned on in his thick skull. He tells Coral to look after Flor. He doesn’t want anyone to hurt Flor while he is trying to figure out how to save her. Coral tells him not to worry. She will watch over Flor.

Luba is chopping wood when Nora arrives. I’m sure Gaspar should be doing this but…. Luba is glad to see that Nora finally come to visit Gaspar. (Nora has lost the red dress and is in a green traditional Mexican dress.) Luba tells Nora that she will give them a few pesos so that she and Gaspar can buy a drink during their visit together. Luba tells her that she hopes she understands that Gaspar isn’t right in the head. Nora tells Luba not to worry about that, even though Gaspar was hit on the head, it didn’t hurt his cuteness. Nora still thinks he is hot. Luba is encouraged claiming he takes after her. She calls Gaspar.

Back at the work cabin the detective tells Blanca to not worry. He knows how to handle the type of people like Alvaro.

Emilio flounces through Thelma’s door demanding to know what she said to Alina and where is the heart necklace that she stole! Thelma tells Emilio to calm down, she will tell him what happened. Emilio snaps. He calls her a hypocrite for stealing the necklace and making him look bad with Alina. Thelma tells him she only did it to help him out. Doesn’t he understand what danger he will be in with Alina’s father if he doesn’t stop messing with her?! Doesn’t he understand that he cant have a relationship with Alina? He is a married man. He cant offer Alina a dignified relationship. Is he going to make her his lover? Who is more cruel? Her father or him?! Emilio seems to be listening to her advice.

Blanca reads a note she has written to Elias. She asks him for his forgiveness for doubting him. She knows he has always loved her and respected her. His love has given her strength to confront Alvaro. She has reported Alvaro to the police and if everything goes right Alvaro will end up in jail within a few hours. She expects Alvaro’s revenge and she fears for her life. She finishes reading the note and looks up afraid.

Emilio asks Thelma if she is sick in the head. Alina is in danger in that place and she doesn’t know what she is doing. He warns her to not to continue messing with his life. He tells her to give him the necklace that belongs to him. Thelma turns around and asks for Emilio to help her take the necklace off. Emilio rips it off her neck and leaves the room slamming the door behind him.

Tonki/Donky/skinny little doggie comes to visit Alina. Alina hides him next to her bed.

The detective arrives to investigate the charges against Alvaro. Alvaro is shocked. The detective tells him that he is being charged with keeping his wife locked in her room, and for keeping his daughter in a house of ill repute. Alvaro tells the detective to follow him to Soledad’s prison.

Gaspar and Nora sit on a hill overlooking the sierra. Gaspar asks Nora if she would like to see his fairy. Nora does a good job of sitting close to Gaspar and acting like she is interested in him, rubbing his arms. She asks him about his fairy. Gaspar tells Nora that his fairy doesn’t like him anymore. Nora asks if he would be interested in another woman as she rubs his face. Gaspar claims he wants his munequita. Nora tells him that he only imagined her, let Nora show him what a real woman is like. She leans in to kiss Gaspar and before you know if they are making out. Nora is seen rolling on top of Gaspar.

Don Loco takes the detective to Soledad’s room. He tells the detective that his wife is not well, she is sick. The detective tells Alvaro not to escape from the sierra as he enters Soledad’s room.

Downstairs Loco and Sergio talk about where could Blanca be. Blanca is what has Loco worried and mad. Loco is going to find Blanca and asks Sergio to distract the detective while he goes to look for Blanca.

Two of Edelmiras working girls confront Alina. They tell her she is not so pretty as they wave their brooms at her. Alina tries to avoid the fight and tries to leave for her room. The jealous girls wont let her. They tell her she should be working (cleaning the place and sleeping with men) like they are. They want to give her a beating.

Soledad tells the detective what has been gong on. She tells him that one way or another everyone depends on her husband for a living. The detective has a hard time believing this has gone on for two years. Soledad tells him its true. She thought he would get over his craziness. He has to detain her husband for his crimes she pleads. The detective doesn’t seem to be buying it.

The girls back Alina in a corner. One of the girls breaks a bottle by the neck and brandishes the broken end at Alina. Coral whips in and pushes the girl with the bottle away from Alina. Granillo floats in after Coral yelling at the girls and blocking the way to Alina. Coral is in a little workout gear from the eighties. She is a workout super hero. She manages to threaten and boss the girls away. Alina is scared and grateful for their rescue. Granillo whines that the girls called him names. He tells Alina this is what she gets for returning!

Blanca hears a window breaking in the cabin. She is freaked out. She goes to see what has happened in the bathroom, the place where she heard the breaking glass. She goes in to see a pair of boots under the shower curtain. She breathes heavily.

The detective goes downstairs and tells Sergio to call the patron. He is going to take Alvaro to Puebla. Sergio tells him that Alvaro is not there and the detective freaks. Sergio tells him not to worry, the patron didn’t leave the property. Follow Sergio, he will take the detective to Alvaro.

Blanca pulls back the shower curtain, scissors in hand, to find it is just a pair of empty boots. She exhales with relief. She runs out to the other room and looks for a pair of keys to lock the doors. She leans on the door exhaling heavily.

Alina safely in her room, is warned not to leave the room. Granillo and Coral leave to tell Edelmira what those girls were going to do to Alina.

Blanca talks out loud that her head hurts. She nervously stumbles through her cabin looking for a medicine bottle. She finds one, grabs some pills and a glass and goes to the bathroom to get water to take them. She drops the glass and turns around as we see Don Loco in the bathroom mirror behind her. She stumbles into the living area yelling Don’t hurt me! Loco taunts her saying you got a officer to detain me no? You are going to pay for meddling with me Blanca! She yells Don’t hurt me! Don’t hurt me! Loco tells her she can yell all she wants but no one will hear her. Everyone in the world is working. They are going to fix this, she and him. Plus he doesn’t have a lot of time. Blanca looks at Loco with crossed and panicked eyes. She starts to breath heavily as she stares at him. She falls to the ground with a slow thud. Loco calls Blancas name as he kneels down beside her, feeling for her pulse. She is dead. He gets up and takes the letter she had placed on a table for Elias. He pockets it and heads out toward the bathroom, shaking his head.

Sergio has the detective out in one of the coffee fields looking for the patron. The detective yells at Sergio for distracting him and misleading him. The detective yells that Sergio has done this on purpose! Alvaro rides up on horseback in the nick of time to save Sergio from the detectives wrath. The detective tells Alvaro that he thought he had escaped. His wife accused him of keeping her locked up and of torturing her. Loco has to go with him to town to answer her accusations. Loco smirks as he tells the detective that he is not going to take him anywhere. Don Loco claims his wife is imagining things. Here look at this certificate of her lunacy. The detective looks at the piece of paper Loco has just handed him. Sergio, in the background, tries to glance at the paper as Loco smirks some more. Ahh these people!

Emilio comforts Angel who is lying on a couch pouting. Emilio tells him that he shouldn’t let Alina affect his so much. Angel scoffs that maybe it doesn’t affect Emilio but it does him. Emilio answers that yes what is happening to Alina bothers him. He is trying to help Alina. Even though she says she is there by her desires lots of people are saying its because her father obligated her to be there. Emilio prefers to believe that. Angel sits up and tells Emilio to get her out of there for once and for all! Emilio agrees. He is going to try and do that tonight.

Loco walks the detective into the house talking about how Soledad has been ill for a long time, she has suffered mental disorders for years. She thinks that Alina is his daughter but Alina is the daughter of a poor corporal (crew chief). If the detective has doubts about the girl he should go and ask her.

Orlando and Thelma discuss Emilio’s plans to rescue Flor. Orlando states that in order for him (Orlando) to save Flor he has to be the first person to the meson tonight. Thelma thinks this is a good idea. If he is able to do this Flor will loose her affection for Emilio. Orlando thinks that not only that …. Emilio has always been fascinated with Flor for her innocence. If she looses those qualities then he thinks Emilio wont continue to be so interested in her! Thelma likes the idea. She wants to be able to win over Emilio again if that happens, but she knows it wont be easy. She feels so unattractive with her stupid pregnancy. Orlando advises that her pregnancy is her best weapon. She should use it to get what she wants!

Edelmira pulls Alina out of her room to talk to Don Loco and the detective. The detective tells her his name, Detective Ruiz, and why he is there. Being a very good investigator he allows Loco to sit at the table with them. Loco pipes up that her crazy mother told the senor that he brought her by force to this place. The detective requests that Alvaro be quiet but its too late. Alvaro is sitting there right next to Alina! The detective asks if it is true if that Alvaro Montello abused you physically and mentally, obligating you to be here in this place? Alina’s eyes shift from the detectives and Locos as she listens to the question. What will happen tomorrow?

Donde esta Fernando?

On our local station here in Nueva York, the channel is running spots during the show asking viewers to call in if they recognize where Fernando is walking. The first callers win two tickets to a concert of some singer I don't know at Madison Square Garden. So far I think he is walking near Grammercy Park and Battery Park. I am still not sure he is really in New York or they are scenes of him in front of a blue screen image.

La Fea Más Bella #226 3/7/07 ...the plan ends

Alicia is told that Marcia's been looking for her; Alicia goes into Marcia's office, and Martha wonders where Cornilocks got the phone. Lola guesses that it's from some poor idiot.

Marcia congratulates Alicia for thinking. Alicia says that Tomas admitted that he only said Aldo loved Lety in order to get Alicia to himself; Alicia is thrilled, but Marcia is disappointed because it means Aldo won't be keeping Lety away from Fern after all.

Next, Omar hides in the batcave and overhears Lety and Aldo talking about exercise and apples. (I'll irrelevantly add here that I love what everyone is wearing today.) I sure hope Aldo has nice breath, because their faces are awfully close. (I hope Lety has nice breath too, but Aldo's the one who's always leaning in.) He crowds her onto the desk, makes the "scary snicker" noise as previously described by Amanda, and takes his leave.

New stuff

Alicia sees that Aldo, the apple-polisher, has brought Lety more gifts, and questions Tomas again about their relationship, but he insists that there's nothing going on. This delights Alicia, who does him the great honor of kissing his cheek and then goes back to admiring her "engagement" photo.

Lety sets about working at her desk; Omar frets in the cave. Sara is looking for him; she checks in his office and then worries to the cuartel that she can't find him.

Meanwhile, Marcia asks Alicia to check on the tickets, passport, money, etc. for the trip; she's eager to get out of there. Fern's gone, and they'll both be back in 20 days, before the expo. She'll think things over during that time, and after the trip, she and Fern will figure out what to do, once and for all.

Alicia generously offers to accompany Marcia to London to help out... but then changes her mind. She doesn't want to be away from Aldo that long. Marcia says she needs Alicia to stay there, anyway. Alicia then generously offers to car-sit for Marcia. She says she deserves the loan of Marcia's car. Marcia says maybe, but asks Alicia to first do what she's been asked.

Alicia reminds Marcia of what a great friend she is. Marcia tells her that the company pays Alicia for her work. Alicia points out that she doesn't get paid to be Marcia's friend; her friendship is priceless. (Marcia diplomatically doesn't mention the many pesos Alicia already owes her.)

Alicia goes back into the Vortex of Stupidity and makes a great show of calling Papi to tell him that Marcia's going to let her borrow the car. With a nice car, she says, she'll be her old self again. She invites Papi to hand out her new phone number to all and sundry. She promises to call him back and stuffs the phone back into its holster (frankly I'm very surprised that there's room in there for a phone - even a small one).

Meanwhile, Lety is on the phone with the bank, saying she knows the interest is due on their loans. She is flustered when he tells her that the deadline is at noon. She prepares to call Tomas and tell him to hurry up, but is interrupted by PM, who asks if she's seen Omar. The cuartel saw him earlier, but now it's like he's fallen off the face of the earth. An important client is trying to get in touch with him.

At this perfect moment, Omar's cell phone rings. While he fumbles for his phone, Lety and PM wonder where the sound is coming from - PM thinks it's coming from the batcave. Omar answers the phones and the ringing stops. Lety says her phone doesn't sound like that, and PM says cell phones lately sound pretty weird. (It's true. I like a "ringtone" that sounds like a phone ringing, myself.) They dismiss this weird occurrence and Lety asks PM to find Tomas's cell number and call him for her.

The call to Omar is from Fern, who is still at the airport. Omar tries to hide under the not-very-soundproof desk and whispers that he's trapped in "Lety's office." (A sleeping woman I'll call Dot snuggles up to Fern while he talks.) Omar explains what has happened (and doesn't even flinch when he says "gargolita"). He didn't want Lety to catch him hiding photos of Fern's lovely snout all over the place. Fern is confused. Omar says it's so that Lety will be reminded of him all the time. Fern gets up from his seat and scolds Omar for his lack of creativity. He sits down again, almost on Dot's head, and she wakes with a start. Fern reminds Omar not to get caught. Nobody must find out what he's doing.

Omar tries to stand up, not realizing that there is a desk on top of him, and hits his head. PM and Lety hear. So does Fern, who is now letting Dot listen in on the call. Omar makes that little scream again, and Lety and PM go into the batcave to investigate. "Me? Here?" Omar asks, stalling for time. He says he was looking for some old documents among the archives. ("He couldn't come up with a better excuse?" Dot asks Fern in disgust.) Lety asks how long he's been in there. He says it's been a while, because he couldn't find them. Lety says she doesn't believe him - there are no papers in that room that would be useful to him. Then he comes up with another cockamamie excuse - that he was looking for Lety's father. He checks the desk drawers - nope, Erasmo's not there. He'll just have to talk to him later instead. He nervously excuses himself and leaves. PM and Lety wonder what Omar was up to.

And now for something completely different

Luigi is sooooooo happy to see Aldo. He comments on how nice Aldo looks in black. "Thank you very much, you too," Aldo replies. Luigi says he's not wearing black. Har, har, har. Aldo starts to explain/apologize about the mixup with the bear. Luigi would rather talk about Aldo's bruises from yesterday. Who's the savage bear who disfigured Aldo's gorgeous face? Aldo deflects the question and says he wants to talk about the commercials.

Luigi says he's going crazy. They're all in various stages of completion. Some still in design, others in preproduction, etc. But, see, he found this flower (it's one of those individually-wrapped roses that you can buy at the gas station on the way home from work), and he didn't know what to do with it, so he wants to give it to Aldo. Aldo thanks him for the pretty rose and says he's going to work on his book. "If you need me, call," he tells Luigi.

"I always need you, Aldo," Luigi says in Spanish. "I need you, guapo," he adds in mostly English.

Aldo takes a few steps towards Luigi, and I brace myself for a moment of truth. Finally, Aldo is going to explain to Luigi that he's interested in someone else, right?

Wrong. Aldo says "thank you for the flower, Luigi," and goes into his office. Um. Waaaay too subtle, Aldo!

"That wasn't a flower - it was a compliment," Luigi sighs to himself.

Back to the Vortex

Sara is trying to get Omar's client back on the phone, but the guy's cell phone is out of range. She notices the camera strap across Omar's neck - he has moved the camera so that it's hanging down his back, and it's making a huge lump under his jacket - and denies that there's anything strange, but says he wants to go outside because he feels like something's choking him! Sara worries that he will disappear on her again. He walks backwards out of the room so no one will notice the ginormous camera-lump under his jacket.

Lola gives Tomas's cell number to PM. PM dials the number from Lola's desk. Immediately, Alicia's boobs start ringing. Oh, wait, it's her phone. She answers. PM asks for Tomas. Alicia hangs up. PM seems confused. (Alicia's desk is maybe 15 feet away. Maybe. I don't think it's even that far.)

As Alicia struggles to wedge the phone back into her bodice, Lola, Sara, Martha, and PM combine their brainpower and figure out that it probably wasn't a coincidence that Alicia answered and hung up at the same time as Tomas's phone. Wow. What's next, cold fusion?

PM informs Lety of this incredible development. She says she tried to call Tomas, but a woman answered. Lety doesn't have a flashback, but she might be remembering the time that Tomas went out drinking with the HaHas and gave his previous cell phone to a cocktail waitress, and had to go out drinking again on the night of Lety's birthday party in order to get the waitress to pay for all the calls she'd made. (She didn't pay, but he won some money at bingo, so it turned out OK.)

And that's why my recaps are so long. I have flashbacks even when Fern and Lety don't. PM fills Lety in on the cuartel's theory.

Out in the Vortex, Marcia asks Alicia if she's completed her tasks yet. Alicia says she doesn't know who to ask for the tickets, etc. Marcia reminds her that Tomas is the person to ask, and her flight leaves at 7 that evening. Marcia is displeased that Tomas isn't around and tells Alicia to find him. After Marcia stomps out, Alicia harasses Lola about Tomas's whereabouts. (Martha hisses at Alicia, and Alicia asks if she's deflating.) Lola offers to call Tomas's cell phone. Alicia backs off.

Lety and PM step into the Vortex with Lety's phone. Lety dials.

Alicia (facing away from Lety): Hello? Yes?
Lety: Tomas Mora?
Alicia: He's not here, this isn't - uh - who's calling?
Lety (hanging up walking towards Alicia): It's LETICIA PADILLA SOLIS!

Ah, the look of horror on Alicia's face.

In Lety's shiny new Bored

Tomas stops at a traffic light and pulls out his photo of Alicia. He explains to the photo why he couldn't tell her the truth about Aldo being in love with Lety. He feels badly that this is going to hurt her. He marvels at Lety's luck and wonders why he can't have the same kind of luck. He admits he's as ugly as Lety, but more likeable. He giggles. Good, no self-esteem issues there!

That's it for Tomas in the car. For the life of me I don't know why they bothered with the expense of such a pointless location shot. Perhaps it was part of a longer scene showing off the beauty of the practical, affordable, yet sporty and luxurious Bored.

Back to the Vortex - no one can escape!

Lety asks Alicia what she's doing with Tomas's phone. Marcia shows up and grumpily asks Lety when Tomas is coming back. Lety says she's looking for him too. Marcia wants her plane tickets and such. Lety says Tomas let someone borrow his phone. Marcia angrily says that the whole company is paralyzed because Tomas lent his phone. Lety asks Alicia to tell Marc where the phone is. Alicia plucks the phone out of her top - it's about ready to fall out on its own anyway - and "explains" that she's borrowing it from Tomas.

With grim satisfaction, Lety informs Marcia that the whole company is paralyzed because Miss Ferreira borrowed Tomas's phone. She asks Alicia to give Tomas's phone back when he returns so the company can resume its functions. She goes back to her own office.

Marcia complains to Alicia that she can't stand Lety. She thinks she owns the place! (She does!) Alicia tells Marcia that she came on a bit strong, too. Marcia teases Alicia about Tomas being her ex-lover. The cuartel leans forward to hear better as Alicia denies that Tomas was ever her lover. "So what was he, your sweaty handyman?" Marcia says (I think). Alicia claims it was just a screw-up on her part. Marcia says if she hates him so much, why did she ask him for his phone? (Martha and/or Sara fall over their desks trying to hear.) Alicia insists that he offered it to her; she never asked. He gave it to her. Marcia scolds her for not having any dignity. Alicia says she'd rather be without dignity than be without a phone.

Based on what they've overheard, the geniuses of the cuartel are even more sure than ever that Tomas and Cornilocks were lovers.

Marcia stalks off towards Lety's office, while the cuartel wonder if they're going to fight. Huh, ya think?

Tomas enters the Vortex just as Marcia leaves. The cuartel greets him excitedly, and he thinks they're admiring his New Look. They advise him that Lety's looking for him. Alicia mentions that Marcia's looking for him too, and she's very annoyed. She pulls Tomas aside and tells him that Lety found out about the phone. Tomas insists that she keep it. She seems so happy that he expects another kiss, but she waves him away, saying that Lety's waiting, but he hints to her that he's going to stop in his own office first. (Amazingly, she doesn't follow him there to express her gratitude.)

Alone in her office, Lety observes that the Monster Ladyparts Seashell of Doom hasn't been turned over in a while. She meditates on that for a bit until Marcia comes along to ask for something. "I have it here," Lety says, opening a folder - but inside that folder is a copy of the Fern photo with Marcia's arm. Lety slams the folder shut and thought-bubbles that she's sure now why Omar was hiding in her old office.

Marcia is yelling at her that Tomas has disappeared and she's not going to be able to make her trip to London. (So... I guess there's only one flight from Mexico to London per month. How unfortunate.) "Do you think this is a game?" Marcia asks. Sheesh, what a grouch! She says that Lety and Aldo came up with this trip to get rid of her and now she has to beg for her ticket and money! Lety says it's not a game and Marcia doesn't have to beg, but neither can she come strolling into Lety's office demanding the tickets when she doesn't have them.

Marcia then begins a sarcastic rant about "your office" and how, thanks to the liens, she's now the owner, soul, and mistress of Conceptos. Lety tells her that every time she has to leave Conceptos and come back, she likes it less. It's like being surrounded by enemies.

Marcia says it's all Lety's fault, and she's resentful and vengeful, and the only thing she wants is to take Fern.

Lety tries to tell Marcia that she's been very correct with Fern, when Marcia spies a copy of the photo in Lety's in-box. She demands an explanation, but proceeds to give that explanation herself: "I recognize this. I was in this photo and you copied it and cut me out of it. This is the limit. Do you want my wedding dress too? And I can also give you the wedding gifts that I haven't returned yet."

Lety denies all of this and asks why she would want a photo of Fernando. "You tell me," Marcia answers, and she looks like she's on the verge of a nervous breakdown. (Tomas watches nervously from the doorway.) Lety says she suspects Omar. Marcia finds this charge laughable. Lety insists that she doesn't want to hear about Fern, talk about him, see him, etc.

Marcia says she doesn't believe her. Lety says that's Marcia's problem, but since they hate each other so much, Marcia can keep the company, and Lety will leave.

Marcia says "Excellent." Tomas interrupts and tells them he went to the bank, made their interest payments, and took care of things for Marcia's trip. It's ready now and she can have them at any time. He begs Lety not to resign and reminds her of her obligations. He rehashes them for our mutual convenience, taking a lot of the wind out of Marcia's sails, and reminds both women that they need to work together. Marcia agrees and says she can't wait to be done with this hell. Lety says she wants the same thing.

In a much more civil tone, Marcia asks Lety if she thinks they'll really be able to pay their debts on time. Lety says she's trying to do the impossible. Marcia says something about returning in 20 days and she and Lety won't have to share... (Lety gives her a funny look) ...an office. Lety says she would love not to have to come in and see her, too.

Marcia gives her a radiantly sarcastic smile and leaves. In the Vortex, inspiration strikes (Marcia seems uniquely unaffected by its stupidity rays) and she makes a detour to Omar's office, where a quick search reveals a folder containing the cut photo and several copies of the Fernando half. Marcia vows to pluck out his eyeballs.

She asks Sara where Omar went. Sara says he went outside for some air. He was (she mimics him) "choking." "Choking? And he hasn't even run into me yet." She asks what time he arrived this morning. Sara says he got there at 8, which is early for him, and was using the copy machine.

Back in the Monster Ladyparts etc. grotto

Lety shows Tomas the copied half-photo. "I'm sure it was Omar," she tells him. Marcia bursts in, a cyclone of rage. "I want to get as far away from Omar as possible!" She rifles through Lety's things wanting to know if there are more photos. Lety talks her down and says she's just glad Marcia understands that it wasn't Lety's doing. Tomas is aghast at Omar's prank. Marcia asks if Lety knows anything else about this. Lety says she didn't see Omar do it, but he had been hiding in the batcave.

"Fantastic! Marvelous!" And with that, Marcia turns on her heel and marches out of Lety's office.

Funny, I don't recall hearing an "I'm sorry I accused you of stalking my ex-fiance who loves you and hates me," but perhaps that will come later. ;-)

Lety pulls Tomas's ear and yells at him for letting Alicia have the phone. She demands that he take it back from her. He begs her not to make him do that. He tells her not to worry - he'll pay the bill. Lety warns him that she can get more use out of that phone in three days than normal people would in a month (something like that, I think). He promises that he knows what he's doing.

Lety finds another copy of the Fern half-photo and is bummed. Tomas reminds her that Aldo loves her. Lety promises she will dedicate the next 20 days to forgetting Fernando, but Tomas worries that she'll want to throw herself into his arms the minute he gets back.

Steam is still coming out of Marcia's ears when she re-enters the Vortex. Alicia wants to know what happened. "If you want to know, try asking Omar," Marcia retorts, on her way someplace else. Alicia complains about her bad friend.

Omar comes back from "taking air," and Alicia immediately attempts to pump him for information as to why Marcia is so angry. He doesn't know. He asks Sara about that client. Alicia continues pestering him, saying that Marcia has to be in a good mood so she'll let Alicia borrow her car. Sara tells Omar the client is away at a golf tournament someplace and can't come in to sign the contract. They discuss (joke?) that Sara should deliver the contract to the client.

Aldo on the phone

Aldo's on the phone with Gil, telling him how well things are going. Luigi comes in to talk about the commercials and the expo. Aldo notes that it's a lot of work. Luigi says that being with Aldo turns work into nirvanalike pleasure.

Later, he tells Aldo that he'll take charge of the choreography of the big show at the expo, and Aldo will be in charge of the banquet. Aldo wants to include a tribute to mole (I hope he's talking about the buffet and not the big show). Luigi loves the idea. Aldo wants to serve the 12 main kinds of mole, four of which he's never made himself. Luigi wonders how Aldo will pull this off. Aldo says he knows someone who can supply the necessary recipe. Luigi wants to know who is the great chef whose recipes are good enough for Aldo. Aldo says he'll tell Luigi later.

I think we all know who this great chef is! Her most devoted consumers are Tomas and Moty!

Nueva York

At Yankee Stadium, if the Yankees win, they play the Frank Sinatra version of "New York, New York" at the end of the game. If the Yankees lose, they play the Liza Minnelli version instead. I know this sounds like the kind of thing I would make up, but it's true.

Anyway. In the short amount of time that Omar was getting air outside, Fern managed to get on a plane, fly to New York, go through Customs, and start walking around the city, complaining of the cold. His phone rings - it's Marcia. "Tell me one thing," she demands. (He is not thrilled that the first thing he hears in New York City is Marcia's voice.) "Hi Marcia!" he answers her cheerily.

"Did you order your little friend to put a photo in Lety's office?" And with that, Marcia nips Operation Aldon't in the bud.

Mañana
Fernando acquires another admirer.

insult of the day
pelos de elote=Cornilocks. Because "pelos de oro" would be "locks of gold," or Goldilocks; "pelos de elote" is "locks of corn." How sweet it is!

They say no, something happen? She says he’s a profugo (fugitive). They tell her everything will turn out ok (!!!) and break the news about their twins.

She says she’s not ready yet… he agrees and says he wants to get away for awhile and find himself… Karin thinks it’s a good idea but she’ll miss him. They giggle.

** Dol goes to see Candy... She’s come to check on Leo. Candy lets her know about the clinic fire being purposely set. Dol tells her Tib is running from the law. She tells her to ask the Virgin of Guadalupe to bring a miracle.

** Rogelio tells Gabe that he wants to leave for a while. He’s ok with it. They hug…

** Tib calls Dol to tell her he’ll have to leave the county. She suggests he not make it worse on himself and turn himself in to clarify the situation. He “asks” her to get his passport and money.

** Karin comes to visit Dol… Karen has just come from the cemetery visiting her father’s grave. The police barge in wanting to know where Tib is… Dol says he’s not there… The detective warns her that she’ll be an accomplice if she doesn’t cooperate… and he asks her if she’s heard from Tib… She gets a determined look on her face… Karin hides behind her.

** Mir remembers telling Joz about Leo being her son. She hopes Joz doesn’t do something stupid like confront Leo and “tell” him.

** Meanwhile, Leo is recovering at home wondering why Miriam is so interested in him.

** Dol tells the detective that she told him already; she doesn’t know where Tib is… he says to let him know if she hears from Tib… he leaves. Dol fills Karin in on the situation. Dol says she knows there is no such thing as justice.

** Coyote tells Dam that Leo escaped the fire; Dam says Leo will pay and hangs up.

** Leo and Candy eat dinner… they chat about love and the fire… Leo tells her he suspects Dam as the one who set the fire. She says he should denounce him… he says no, he has no proof…

** Gabe and Rogelio have a heart to heart. Rogelio is getting ready for his trip and admits to being Dam’s accomplice while Gabe was in a coma. Gabe forgives him and they hug. (Since the novella is ending I wonder if we’ll see anymore of Rogelio… I’m guessing no, just a guess…)

** Leo goes to see Elsa… She tells him he doesn’t work for Otilia anymore… He can’t believe it and starts to go off about it… She asks if he came to preach at her… he calms down and says no… and says she’s been acting strange. It’s her turn to over act and she goes off; he says the family is there for her. He tries to talk to her about her drinking and stealing… She calms down and, for a second, accepts a hug from him then suddenly pushes him off and threatens to leave if people don’t stop telling her what to do.

** Karin tells JC and Pau that Rogelio left for a short while… JC answers the phone, it’s a client, and goes off to talk on the phone in the other room. Pau tells Karin that she wants to find her “real” mother. Karen doesn’t think it’s a good idea. JC doesn’t know… Pau asks Karin for help… Karin looks anguished

** Candy and Mayaya are chatting and having a cup of tea in Candy’s apartment. They start talking about Mir being Leo’s mom… Leo wanders up to the door and overhears Mayaya wondering if he suspects Mir’s his real mom… Candy says that she worries cuz he seems to care more for her every time he’s around her. They talk about blood and repeat Mir being Leo’s “real” mom all the while Leo looks like he’s about to have a heart attack. He’s more than impactado… he looks like he’s going to have an anxiety attack and throw himself in front of a train or something… he swoons falling back against the door… music plays… and we’ll have to wait until tomorrow…

** Fin para hoy, ¿qué va a pasar?

March 2, 2007…Zorro reveals himself to Esmeralda..again (Marycelis does "Zorro")

Marycelis writes:

For those of you who haven't seen the episodes, Diego told Esmeralda he is Zorro. She told him that she swears she won't reveal the truth. They agreed if they escaped the cannibals, they were going to meet at the chapel and as a sign of loyalty she was gonna swear that she wouldn't reveal the secret. They escape and when Diego tells Bernardo, they agree it wasn't a good idea, yadda yadda. When he & Esmeralda meet at the chapel, Diego basically says I lied, it was a stressful moment, etc. Then Bernardo dressed as Zorro rides up on Tornado as proof that Diego lied and she gets very angry at Diego for lying to her and all that…. anyway on to the medio recap.

Zorro sneaks into Esmeralda's bedroom through the window and removes his mask in front of his lady love. So much for Esmeralda's room being guarded against anybody coming in or out. "Diego?!" She is surprised but not sure if impactada would be the right word so it's a few grades lower than impactada. "You are first and only person I have ever revealed my secret to." She then questions him as to why didn't you tell me this at the chapel? It's a dangerous secret. Why didn't you trust me? I fear for those close to me, my friends, family, etc. Anyone who knows this secret pays the consequences. I imagine superheroes have had this discussion with their lady loves too. He then explains that while at the river (they were being chased cannibals) he had to act openly, remove his Diego de la Vega mask and act like who he really is because he didn't want to loose her. Esmeralda tells him she never would have given away his secret. Diego talks some more about how much he loves Esmeralda how he faces death everyday but the fear of losing her really scares him. They share a very steamy kiss with background music included.

At the church, are Alejandro de la Vega, Dolores and the Indian chick, Jumalai (sp?) wearing a nice white dress with beige trim and eyelets in the skirt part of it ready be baptized. Alejandro feels that getting Jumali baptized, given a Christian name and hired as a servant in his house she will be better protected and hidden from El Governador (I forgot his name so that's what I am gonna call him). She has tried to kill El Governador twice already (revenge for killing her brother and attacking her people) but Alejandro has been able to protect her and hide her whereabouts. She's upset because the dress isn't her and like a small child in a dress she lifts the dress and you can see the slip underneath. Dolores scolds her and smoothes the dress. Alejandro laughs and says that she will have to learn the customs of the white people (everyone here is Hispanic and with a tan/bronzy color, so I guess it's like a western style reference although for an Indian chick she has light skin and looks whiter than everybody else). In that getup, Jumalai looks very much like Regina when she was baptized says Father Tomas….

And that's all she wrote….I gave up at this point. I conceded defeat in the battle for the remote and this freaking keyboard keeps highlighting and removing things I type, aughh!!!!!

Duelo de Pasiones - Tuesday 3/6 - In which Luba plays matchmaker but Gaspar doesn't want to play.

Emilio hears Orlando offering to pay Edelmira for Flor. He gets jealous and vows this will never happen.

Rosita is in Luba's cave. She has come to cry on Flor's shoulder about how screwed up their love lives are but alas, Flor is trapped at Edelmira's. Poor Flor is trapped, poor Luba's soul hurts from missing Flor, and poor Rosita sobs because Santos left and all men are scoundrels.

Flor is dressed in a white lacy dress with pink ribbons, no doubt Edelmira's idea to make Flor look more virginal thus commanding a higher price. Flor is moping on her bed. Emilio enters! He has come to rescue her, to take her away that very night. Dragon Lady with the big teeth, long nails and pink boa steps into the doorway, preventing Emilio and Flor from leaving.

Sergio sees Blanca get on the bus for Puebla. He follows her, sits next to her, and makes a threatening wisecrack. Surprise!! It's not Blanca! It is, miraculously, a woman of Blanca's exact stature who has agreed to trade clothes with her. Sergio rushes off the bus but he's too late, Blanca has hailed a cab and is headed for Puebla.

Edelmira is all big teeth and no bite. She cannot keep Emilio from leaving with Flor. She orders Granillo to stop them but Granillo whisks his fan and says, "Right, he's got a gun and I've got a fan. I don't think so." Orlando (who was in her office) runs in, sees Flor has gone, and punches the dresser. Emilio has bested him yet again.

Castulo, shirtless, muscles gleaming in the heat, lounges on his bed eating a banana. Thelma enters in a rage, "Swine, I thought I could trust you!" He stands up to reveal his manly physique, "Hey, I got rid of Coral as promised." Thelma brings up Gaspar, but Castulo assures her Gaspar will no longer bother her. She tries to mouth off but he picks her up and starts making out with her. The sleazy music begins and Thelma decides that sex is better than arguing.

I just noticed that when Edelmira is in a rage her boobs kind of fly all over the place. Like now. She bares her big chops and asks Coral what in the heck is she going to tell the Patron about Flor flying the coop? "The truth," says Coral, "that finally there is a real man in Sierra Escondido to defend Flor." A real man? Does she mean Emilio?

Night Scene - Don Loco goes into Doña Loco's room and imagines he sees her in bed with Elias. Don and Doña argue. He says Blanca and Elias are traitors.

The Singing Aunt arrives at Edelmira's, ostensibly for dancing lessons from Granillo but really to spy for Thelma. Granillo tells her that Emilio, right in front of La Mera Mera (Edelmira), grabbed Flor and rode away on his horse. "How barbaric," gasps Auntie, "I have to tell Thelma right away!"

Thelma is all smiley and happy because she has just gotten her rocks off. I have noticed that Thelma is only happy immediately following a good boinking, but this one may be short-lived. Auntie runs into Thelma's room and tells her Emilio rescued Flor. Thelma's good mood has officially vanished.

Vera tells Rutilio she is worried about the red dress that she retrieved from the trash because Aunt Rebeca was asking all sorts of odd questions about how often they empty the garbage. Suddenly Vera has a great idea! She'll give the dress to someone else, Nora would be perfect one for the latest in slut-wear from the big city. (I'm sure she'll have many opportunities to wear such a dress...cooking, cleaning, bringing sweet potatoes to the cave.)

Gaspar is in the cave whining about his muñequita. (Dude, give it a rest!) Luba says he is absolutely forbidden to see her, but Gaspar says she will come to see him. Luba says there are other women. Gaspar wants only his muñequita. Luba asks her friend the Virgencita to give her strength.

Just then the beautiful Nora arrives with a basket of tamales. "They're the ones you like, Gaspar" she tells him sweetly. Romance music hits a crescendo and Gaspar gets the Aw Shucks look.

Thelma has a tantrum in front of Orlando. As she throws Emilio's things all over his room they see Flor's silver heart necklace. It gives Thelma an idea...

Emilio has taken Flor to visit her mother. She says Emilio rescued her, it's proof that he loves her, right? But he is married and she doesn't want to get between him and his kid. She assures Soledad that Edelmira's isn't so bad, there are good people there who protect her. Nothing bad will happen to her, the only virgin in the only whorehouse in the entire region.

Luba has decided to play matchmaker. She apologizes to Nora for Gaspar being so "dry" toward her. He's a bit of a fool. (I guess the Aw Shucks was for the tamales and not for Nora.) Luba convinces Nora to return the next day by telling her that just a while ago Gaspar said he was going to invite her for a stroll tomorrow. Nora leaves, excited and looking forward to tomorrow.

Flor thanks Emilio for taking her to see her ma but now she has to get back to Edelmira's. Emilio isn't happy to hear this and who can blame him? Instead of telling him the truth, that she fears for mom, she tells him he's married and it's none of his business. He grabs her roughly, is he going to kiss her? He usually does after he roughs her up, but no, he punches his own fist instead and leaves in a huff. "Oh Emilioooo," sighs Flor, "How I would love to go with you but I cannot. Once again I lose you and you will hate me."

Thelma tries on Flor's necklace and prodigiously admires herself in the mirror.

Vera and Nora meet on the pathway. Vera gives Nora the red dress. What luck! It's Nora's size, and what a different look from her white, cotton peasant dress. Nora is going to meet her galán tomorrow and the dress will be perfect. Perfect for a visit to the Devil's Cave or Edelmira's maybe, but for a stroll in the country? This we've gotta see.

Sergio tells Don Loco that Blanca gave him the slip. Don Loco goes ballistic with anxiety and calls Sergio a useless imbecile. Now she'll end up in Puebla and tell the damn authorities!

Blanca finally makes it to the police station in Puebla and says she wishes to report a kidnapping.

Flor wanders stupidly in the dark and talks to herself about how much she loves Emilio.

An investigator repeats what Blanca told him, that a crazy man has kept two women against their will and has inflicted physical and emotional abuse upon them. Does the señora have any proof, a letter, a recording? With no proof the inspector will need to go there to confirm her accusations. They'll go tomorrow. For some reason Blanca doesn't mention that Don Loco locked HER up, nor does she show the inspector the wound she got from trying to escape!

Night Scene - Don Loco goes into Doña Loco's room. He yells. She feigns madness. When he leaves she smiles and thanks the virgin for guiding Blanca to Puebla.

Coral and Granillo are talking excitedly about Flor's escape when who should walk in but Flor. Their disappointment in her is evident.

Orlando waits up for Emilio so he can pick a fight. Not much happens, just boys puffing out their chests. Orlando calls Emilio an egoist, what business does Emilio have concerning himself with Flor when Thelma is expecting their child? Flor has renounced him and wants to start her new life. Emilio insists he will save Flor from that place and he won't allow Orlando or any other man to take advantage of her desperation. Thelma eavesdrops and peeks out from beind the doorway.

Emilio leaves. Orlando fumes. Thelma says it's worse than she thought, Emilio is completely obsessed. Orlando vows that Flor will be his (Orlando's).

Don Loco tells nobody in particular that he's happy Soledad is pretending to be crazy. Her madness will be his salvation. Please note that this is only one of many times that Don Loco converses with himself throughout the day.

Next morning Thelma wants to talk to a grumpy Emilio. She tells him she knows he loves Flor and that he will never love her (Thelma). She understands what it's like to be frustrated in love. She says she wants to be his friend, not his enemy. She would rather win his confidence than have his hate.

Don Loco knocks on a gate. It is answered by an elderly man with a long white beard and hair. He looks like Heidi's grandafather, remember the Shirley Temple version? The hermit-looking-guy, Dr. Zavala, tells Don Loco he has retired and cannot help him. Don Loco says he needs the services of a psychiatric specialist like Dr. Zavala. He knows many things about the renowned Carlos Zavala, that he retired from practice and sought refuge here, that he wanted to forget his past, or more to the point, forget a patient who committed suicide because of him. Alvaro says he is the big boss in these parts and he wants Dr. Z to certify his wife's madness.

Thelma plays nice and convinces Emilio to tell her the story of how he gave the silver heart to Flor. Why did the necklace mean so much to her? Emilio stupidly tells Thelma that when he gave the heart to Flor he told her it was his heart. She was to wear it so that he would be with her wherever she went. It meant so much to them, he had so many illusions about her when they met. Thelma grabs the necklace and says she needs to go do something, make lunch, yeah that's it, she's got to make lunch. She runs out with the necklace.

We are at Jacinto the drug runner's funeral. Felicia sobs over his fresh grave and Jose of all people gives the eulogy. He tries to think of something nice to say,"ummmm...he was a guy who was involved in his cause." Then he thanks Jacinto for saving his life. (?!?!)

Felicia begs Jose to stay, she is expecting his child. Jose says she knows very well that his dream is to return to his woman and child in Mexico. He'll give Felicia money instead. She wants Jose by her side and plays the pity card...his city family has the good life while she is stuck in a life of danger (of her own choosing I might add). Jose's child will be born in the middle of nothing, without a father to protect him. (What about the gun-toting mother?) "OK," says Jose, "you'll go with me." Felicia says no, the journey while pregnant will be too dangerous. She sobs, can Jose wait until the birth and at least meet his child? (Puts his hand on her stomach.) "Duhhh...otay," agrees el estupido, "but then I really have to go."

No Mariana/Marianita scene but we do cut to Dr. Love with Marianita's first doctor (much cuter than creepy Dr. Love, why didn't Mariana jump on him instead?). Dr. Cute tells Dr. L not to get Mariana's hopes up. Dr. L says he can't bear to cause Mariana pain by telling her that Marianita's illness is terminal and that she's dying. Dr. L says he just wants to wait a little bit before telling her. When he sees the right opportunity he'll tell her. Oh dear, this guy just sucks on every level.

Angel is looking for Emilio and runs into Orlando. Of course Orlando tells Angel that Emilio saved Flor but she couldn't wait to get back to whore town. Angel scowls.

Puebla - Elias runs around the house yelling for Blanca. What, he hasn't noticed she's been gone for days? "Gosh, she's not in Sierra Escondida with our friend the insane kidnapper, nor is she home. Wherever could she be?"

Don Loco tells Doña Loco that she truly is mad. Why does she keep asking about a daughter she's never had? He has a surprise, it is a crazy-looking psychiatrist to help her accept that she never had a daughter. Dr. Z enters. Don Loco tells Dr. Z that just yesterday she was talking to the virgin. "Is that true," asks the Dr? Instead of saying "Yes you a**holes, it's called praying" she averts her eyes and mutters "Yes, I was talking to the virgin." Intense music plays and Doña loco glares at Don Loco.

Don Loco takes Dr. Z aside and tells him that since the missus thinks he killed their daughter it would be best to pretend said daughter never existed at all. Isn't the fact that Soledad talks to the virgin proof enough of her madness?

Dr. Z wants to talk to Soledad alone. Naturally she starts talking like a crazy woman. Dr. Z just nods his head. He's heard all he needs to hear.

Gaspar is up in a tree and refuses to come down. He's waiting for his fairy. Luba tells him not to get wrapped up in his illusions. There is another girl, a REAL one, who wants to see him. Gaspar doesn't want another girl, not even Nora. If Nora comes then Luba had better get rid of her or Gaspar will do it, and if Nora doesn't want to go then it will be the worse for her. Luba tells him he's as stubborn as a mule.

Flor has a guest. It's the ghastly Thelma. Thelma says she came to advise Flor that Emilio only rescued her as a joke. She shows Flor that she's wearing the silver heart necklace. She says Emilio gave it to her and said it symbolizes his heart. If Thelma wears it then his heart will be with her wherever she goes. Thelma keeps walking around showing off her chest, I mean her necklace. Flor is impactada and sobs.

Ha ha!! Nora "walks" along the river wearing Thelma's slutty red chiffon evening dress. (She's staggering actually, due to the large round river rocks.) Sergio follows on his horse. He asks her where she's going, to visit that moron Gaspar, right? An angry Nora tells Sergio to beat it. Yes, she's waiting for Gaspar. Poor Nora, she doesn't fill that dress out quite like Thelma did.

Don Loco grumpily sits in his office drinking booze with Don Max while Dr. Z talks to Soledad. Don Max tells Don Loco that the shrink is a great idea, not even he would have thought of it. He drinks Don Loco's booze, says Soledad's madness is God's punishment for what she did to Don Loco, and leaves.

Coral comes into Flor's room and sees her crying. Flor says Emilio was making a laughing stock of her. Coral says no way, Emilio is too much of a gentleman. Flor sobs and says he was messing with her the whole time. How could she think he had changed? But this time he'll be sorry. Emilio is going to regret giving her heart as a gift to that woman.

Don Loco tells Dr. Z that he is ready for the Dr. to fill out Soledad's crazy papers. "Not so fast," says Dr. Z, dolefully shaking his head, "your wife is not crazy." Don Loco is muy impactado.

Mundo de Fieras - March 6, 2007

* Demian meets with Coyote on the street - Demian dumps an envelope out and lots of bundles of pesos fall to the ground - Coyote is eagerly picking up the windfall and readily accepts Demian's assignment: to help in the destruction of Leo and all those who Demian blames for Regina's death.

* JC and Pau at home - he apologizes to her for his depression and lousy attitude recently. Leo's advice and shouting actually worked and he promises to always be positive and there for her and their child. She happily accepts the apology. (cue music) They kiss.

* Rogelio and Karen are talking in Rogelio's office. They understand each other so well, where they came from, why they acted out like they had in the past, that they are both victims of Miriam and Jocelyn. They solidify their close friendship.

* Jossie meets with Miriam in the design studio office. They are discussing who their next target will be - the reason for Karen's change in attitude against them - DOLORES!

* Karen visits Gabriel in his office. They discuss MA's disappearance and Gabriel's worries. She supports him, and says her change in attitude is due to her Auntie Dolores' attention, love and support. Gabriel offers her his unconditional support also.

* Pau and JC are at their ultrasound appointment with Leo. Leo uses the ultrasound wand and finds the baby's heartbeat. As they are happily talking to Leo, Leo tells them several times to shut up and listen. When they finally do stop talking, they are wondering what Leo is listening for - if there is a problem - Leo finally tells them that they are hearing TWO heartbeats not one. THEY ARE HAVING TWINS! (it's a celebration in the ultrasound room! :D)

* Elsa finds Mastin on the street. She is interested in him scoring some more booze for her. He tells her that it will cost money; and if she doesn't have enough, she will have to pay off the debt in whatever other way he or Coyote can come up with.

* Gabino and Tweet visit Sylvester at his and Elsa's apartment. Sylvester reveals during the conversation his problems and fears with Elsa's relapse.

* At the palace, Jossie plays in the bedroom with LD and talks to the toddler about how he and LG had been switched and how she plans to use it against MA when the truth is revealed.

* JC and Pau tells Gabriel in his office the good news - Gabriel is excited to be the grandfather of TWINS! Pau then tells her dad not to give up hope on MA returning. Gabriel agrees with Pau.

* Elsa desperately searches the apartment looking for money to buy the booze from Mastin. Candy stops by and sees Elsa take the money from the safe box. Candy asks what the money is from and her intentions with it. Candy suspects Elsa will buy booze or drugs. Elsa says "so what. it's none of your business. leave me alone." Elsa rushes out, leaving Candy to worry all alone.

* Gabriel and Pau meet at the construction site with the development manager. The manager and Pau give Gabriel an update on the Casa Sara project's progress.

* Leo finishes with an elderly patient - he gives her the medicine and they talk. The patient compliments him on his kindness and compassion, and credits it to his mama. Leo slowly pauses as he mentions the mother that abandoned him and the blessing of having Candy as his mommy. He escorts the patient out of the clinic and then writes notes in the chart.

* Elsa returns drunk to the apartment - she collapses on the sofa as Sylvester confronts her about the missing money from the box. She doesn't care for his opinions about her or his attitude. He continues to scold her and inform her about his worries and concerns and that if she continues in this way, he will be forced to enter her into a treatment program and leaves.

* The lights are all on at the clinic. Coyote sneaks up to the front door and uses a crow bar to jam the door shut. He pours gasoline all around the building. As he backs away, he lights a match, tosses it on the ground and watches as the trail of gas and the building catch on fire.

* Tiberio, in his office, searches through is briefcase and finds a letter. He opens it and reads it - notice of his business (the strip club). Tiberio is angry and frustrated because the authorites won't permit him to reopen his business.

* Leo notices the smoke filtering into his office at the clinic. He feels for the door - more smoke and he can't open the door. He's trapped inside. He coughs and yells through the door for help and he bangs on the door.

* Miriam and Ingrid in design office. They discuss the business and their extra special deal that will trounce Otilia once and for all - or so they think. Ingrid shows Miriam the latest news about Otilia's design studio. Miriam is shocked by Otilia's new business deal. Ingrid is miffed.

* Leo is still trapped inside the burning clinic. Demian and Coyote are safely inside Demian's Hummer watching the building burn. Leo tries desperately to find a way out. Demian laughs and tells his driver to leave.

* Candy is at home praying to the virgen de guadalupe.

* Leo tries to make his way down the clinic hallway. Meanwhile, outside, Sylvester, Tweet, Gabino and the neighbors all bring buckets and try to help extinguish the fire. Gabino and Sylvester pour water on a blanket - Sylvester wraps up in it - pulls the crowbar from the door and enters the building to rescue Leo. Gabino and Tweet lead the effort of organizing the water bucket brigade. (Personal Note: you know instead of a taxi stand and neighborhood clinic, the writers would've been better served to have made it a Cuencas fire department and EMT ambulance service.)

* Tweet calls Mayeya, who is in the palace kitchen with Nina and Miriam, to tell her about the fire at the clinic and that Leo is inside the building. Mayeya gets off the phone and is in such a state of panic that she quickly tells Miriam about Leo and the fire and then leaves. Miriam is shocked and dumbfounded.

* Elsa sits and stares into space as Candy scolds and tries to advise her about her addiction to alcohol and taking the savings like she did to buy more booze. Elsa isn't interested in listening to Candy's speech. Sylvester enters and interrupts with news about the fire - Candy is worried about Leo - Elsa perks up with concern about her brother. Sylvester tries to calm Candy but Candy insists he take them to the hospital to be with Leo.

* In the middle of the night, Tiberio and Mastin break into the strip club.

* Miriam wanders into the palace living room, still thinking about Mayeya's news about Leo. She is concerned about Leo at the hospital.

* Sylvester, Elsa and Candy meet with the attending physician who tells them about Leo's condition. Candy is relieved and then advises Elsa to trust Sylvester because he is a kind, caring, good man.

* Nina enters the palace living room - Miriam tells her that she is leaving for the hospital.

* Dolores and Nick are having dinner together. She is happy and content with her relationship with her son and her life. He tells her that he loves her - she isn't sure how to respond - he continues to compliment her - she becomes quiet and humble.

* Jossie returns home to the palace. Nina meets her inside the door - Jossie asks where her mom is and Nina tells her at the hospital to see about Leo. Jossie is shocked and curious.

* Candy is annoyed when she sees Miriam rush into the hospital reception area. Candy wants her to leave - Miriam insists on staying for Leo. Sylvester enters and Miriam asks him politely to explain briefly what happened to Leo. He does and then returns to Elsa.

* At the apartment, Pau is thinking about their twins growing inside her belly. JC joins her in dreaming and thinking about the blessing the two little ones will be for them. They have an orange juice toast.

* In the dark at his condo, Gabriel can't help talking to himself about the good news he wishes to share with MA but is frustrated because she isn't there. Where on earth is she?

* Tiberio and Mastin party on the main dance floor and celebrate the grand reopening of the strip club and the success they will have.

* Pau thought bubbles telling her little babies about their grandma Regina.

* Miriam offers Candy money to pay for Leo's hospital expenses. Candy refuses to accept the hand-out - Miriam insists on paying the expenses - Candy is adamant about refusing the help - Miriam is adamant in her insistence. Jossie enters as the stalemate continues and insists in knowing why Miriam is there and offering money to Candy for Leo in the first place.

* Police catch Tiberio and Mastin inside the strip club, arrest them, and haul them outside to the waiting police cars. Tiberio breaks free and tries to escape. One officer shoots his gun in Tiberio's direction.

* At the palace, Jossie asks again for Miriam to explain why she was at the hospital in the first place - what is her connection with Leo? Miriam refuses to explain at first, but Jossie is adamant and insistent. Miriam finally breaks down and tells her that Leo is her son - that Leo is Jossie's brother! Jossie is shocked.

La Fea Más Bella #225 3/6/07 The plan begins...

Fern: "From now on we won't be seeing each other, I'm going away." "I hope by the time you get back you'll have matured and stopped trying to use people for your personal gain." "When I get back, I'll have found a way to prove how much I love you." Lety cries.

Fernando enters Marcia's apartment. They give each other a chilly hello. She asks if he's finished with his work at the office. Fernando says yes, that everything is ready for tomorrow's trip. Marcia wants to talk to Fernando about something... but Fernando interrupts and begs off with the excuse that tomorrow they have to get up early. Marcia wants talk about the fight with Aldo. Fernando, being the "man" that he is lies and says it was about the company. Marcia doesn't buy it. Fernando took off looking for Aldo when Marcia told Fernando that Aldo was in love with Lety. Fernando mumbles to himself, but Marcia continues. Fernando angrily took off from Omar's office, searching for Aldo and ended up fighting with Aldo. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what happened. Fernando tries to worm his way out of the conversation by saying this is not the time. Marcia patiently asks him when he would like to talk about it. Maybe when they get back from their respective trips? Fernando points out that tomorrow he will be on a trip that will take him far away from Lety. Marcia asks if he's sure. Fernando cannot believe that Marcia thinks that Lety is going to catch up with him in the United States. Marcia thinks that Fernando is going to the US to get away from both women. Fernando explains that it's just a business trip; it's necessary for Conceptos. Marcia replies that she hopes that Fernando clarifies his ideas, his life and his feelings. When he gets back they can decide what will happen between the two of them. Fernando nods.

Alicia, looking angelic in the wedding dress of shame, complains to herself that she cannot sleep. The dress may be a little small, but she's not planning on removing it. If she keeps it on all night, she will fulfill her dream of marrying Aldo. The dress is very tight, but love is sacrifice; she's doing it for Aldo. Alicia sings the notes of the wedding march to herself.

Back at the apartment, Marcia asks Fernando if he's staying or leaving. He replies that he'll stay for a while. Marcia says she'll wait for him in the bedroom.

While Fernando pensively sits on the couch, we hear a voiceover of Lety writing in her diary. She almost gave in. For one moment, she believed him. She needed to believe him, how he begged for an opportunity to demonstrate his love. She felt as though she could die. She wanted him to demonstrate it to her. She wanted it to be the truth. Fernando begins to quietly cry to himself. Lety- "Although, after, I understood that... that once again he wanted to use me. The good thing is that I'm going to have twenty days without him. Although it hurts me so much that he's leaving." Fern loses it for a second and then gains control. He gets off the couch and heads to the bedroom.

Lety - "I know that Don Fernando is going through a difficult phase. He's doesn't know what to do with me and things with Dona Marcia are also going very poorly." [We see Fernando enter the bedroom, half-lay on the bed and stroke Marcia's hair] "Perhaps it will be better for the three of us that he's leaving, that he'll be gone for twenty days. Perhaps, I will be able to rid my heart of him. Although he promised me that when he returns he's going to demonstrate to me his love. El corazon a fuerza responde." (Out of necessity, the heart responds - I think; if I'm wrong, someone please correct me!) "Out of necessity it excites. It fills with hope, but I cannot permit this. The only thing that can save me is Aldo's love." [Pan to Aldo looking into the sky] "I should anchor myself to him, to the strong and honest love that he offers to me. But I don't deserve his clean and unselfish love because I am bringing a love that is completely the opposite." (So this seemed like a good idea to just translate five minutes ago. Now the chick won't stop talking! We're tired of looking at Moty PJ's, Lety. We know that you think Fernando is the Great Satan and Aldo is the greatest thing in the world! Move on!) I ranted and she quit talking! Que milagro! Why didn't I try that with the day that wouldn't end? ;-)

Hopefully, it's morning because Aldo looks awfully perky. He pulls up to Lety's house riding his bike and pulling another along with him. Pretending to be Romeo calling to his Juliet (Doesn't he know that they both ended up dead in the end of that story?) he softly calls to her bedroom window. When she doesn't answer, he honks the horn on one of the bikes. With some encouragement, Lety awakens.

Erasmo also wakes up. He wants to know what's going on outside. He throws back the covers to leave the bed. Julieta protests. Meanwhile, Lety opens the window and says to no one that it's Aldo. Erasmo peeks out the front window and sees the same thing. Aldo pardons himself to Erasmo who complains that Aldo arrives earlier and earlier. Aldo pardons himself again and explains that this is the best time to go out on a bicycle. He asks Erasmo to accompany them. Lety overhears this conversation and announces to Moty that she's going to ride a bicycle. Oh, there's a problem. Lety doesn't know how to ride a bicycle. Lety leaves her room complaining to Moty that she's going to die on a bike.

We are treated to a lovely shot of the airport at night. Inside, Fernando checks his passport and then calls Omar. He tells Omar to get up. It's late - five in the morning. Omar complains that it is still yesterday. Fernando says that Omar needs to get up and find out Lety and Aldo's location. Omar's sure they're sleeping like normal people. (Has he ever met these two people? They don't really meet the definition of "normal people." Fernando fake laughs. He reminds Omar that it's important that Lety does not forget about him, Fernando. Omar cannot believe this, but he swears that Lety will not forget about Fernando. Oh yes, she's going to be thrilled with Omar following her around reminding her of Fernando. Fernando tells Omar that he, Fernando, wants pictures of what goes on with Lety and with Aldo. Fernando will check for them on his cellular phone and on his computer. Omar jokes that Fernando wants Omar to do a reality show like Big Brother, but starring Aldo and Lety. Fernando has one more instruction, his most important. Every time that Omar gets a chance, he must turn over the painting of the conch shell. Omar says he understands all of his instructions. After Fernando hangs up, Omar repeats his instructions to himself. "Turn over Fernando...do a reality show about the conch shell painting...and make sure that Aldo's around all the time." (Why do I think the next few episodes are going to be fun?) Omar sleeps for a moment, but Fernando calls and tells Omar to get up.

In the park Aldo tries to teach Lety how to ride a bike. She doesn't want him to let go, but he thinks she's doing very well. He gives her a little push and she completely wipes out. Just like a fainting goat that goes rigor mortis every time it's frightened (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we9_CdNPuJg), Lety remains in the upright and seated position on the bike, despite the fact that both she and the bike are laying sideways. Aldo rushes over to the two of them. Aldo removes the bike and then helps Lety. She claims to be fine and states that nothing hurts. He saves the helpless little woman anyway and sweeps her off her feet. Their faces get close enough to kiss, but nothing happens. He sets her on the ground and laughs at her little accident. Lety bravely re-mounts the bike to try again. He promises not to let go this time, but jokingly lifts his hands several times.

Um, Celso is doing push-ups. Yummy... Anyway, Omar sleepily enters the office with a camera around his neck. He sees Celso doing his push-up routine. Celso stands up and asks if Omar is really Don Omar. Omar says he's not sure. He is a Don Omar who should be in bed, sleeping with Slovakian models. (Sweet, we Slovak chicks rule! I'll come snuggle with you Omar, but...I'm not a model...and I don't think my husband would like that very much...Anyway...) Celso asks Omar what he's doing there so early. Omar replies that he's on a special mission for his loving ex-president. Celso offers to get Omar something. Omar asks for a quadruple espresso. Celso laughs and then says that after his routine, he will go get that for Omar. Omar says that Celso looks strong, or at least Celso's odor is very strong. Celso sniffs himself.

Omar enters his office and gets to sit in his chair without a battle. He falls asleep in his chair, but his phone rings. I wonder who it could be? It's Fernando! Omar asks Fernando why he feels the need to torture Omar. Fernando reminds Omar that this is all his fault - it's all because of Omar's ideas and that damned letter! Omar gives up and says it's all his fault. Omar begins to say that he has no idea how to make Fernando a constant presence in Lety's life, but Omar is interrupted by finding a photo. He now has an idea. Jaime Camil gives us a taste of his classically trained vocals and samples the "Hallelujah Chorus." Omar tells Fernando to relax and leave everything in Omar's hands. Omar claims to have much talent. (At what exactly? Meddling? Cause we know neither of you actually work, boys!) After he hangs up with Fernando, Omar smacks himself and whips out a pair of scissors. He immediately does what we wish Fernando would do in real life - cuts Marcia out of the picture! (Better hope that Lety finds the picture and not Marcia!)

Still in the park, Lety is riding the bike all by herself. The pair marvel at Lety's bike riding skills. The sit on the stairs and Lety praises Aldo. Lety and Aldo re-hash. He loves her; wants her to feel it. She was hurt by Fernando and is really scared. She wants their relationship to be separate from Conceptos. Ah! Julie! You must be the new PG! Did you see her stroke the necklace! It has magic powers! She wants to know if he told anyone that he loves her. He admits that he told two people.

The cuartel enters the office, gossiping as usual. They re-hash the Aldo/Fernando fist fight. Oh! We're treated to a re-cap of the Jorge Flores prediction as well. They're talking about the fight when they overhear a strange sound. What could it be???? Oh no! It's the photocopier! No one's permitted to work in this office! They sneak to the copy room to find the culprit.

Lety doesn't think it will be a problem if Aldo only told Tomas and Caro. They're very discreet and won't say anything to anyone. Aldo sighs. He doesn't want to hide his love. He wants the whole world to know. Lety explains that she does not want it interfering with their work. Aldo doesn't think this is the problem. He's going to love her openly and without lies and deception. Lety almost kisses Aldo, but Tomas interrupts’ them. They walk to the family and decide to go for quesadillas for breakfast.

The culprit is Omar! The copier decides to act like a fax machine and spit out blank papers at Omar. Sara stabs Omar in the leg with a letter opener and we are treated once again to "The Scream." The entire cuartel stares at Omar, mouths agape.

At the open air restaurant, Erasmo and Aldo make nice. Erasmo asks Aldo with whom he lives. Aldo replies that he lives alone. Erasmo thinks this is why Aldo is always out and about, but things will change once Aldo lives with a family. [There's a little interlude with Julieta questioning Tomas's blonde hair.] Erasmo explains that with a family the most important thing is unity. Aldo agrees but still believes in some freedom. Erasmo explains that he, Julieta and Lety are going to be together forever. [In case you're wondering, Erasmo called Tomas a "sponger."] Julieta interjects that one day Lety will have to learn to fly on her own. Needless to say, this pisses off Erasmo. He says the man worthy of Lety has not been born.

The cuartel question Omar; why he's in so early and what he's doing to the copier. Omar replies that the copier is crazy. Lola goes to help Omar but he pushes her away before she can find the picture of Fernando. He begs off, saying that he has a lot of work to do.

Aldo thinks that if he were in Erasmo's place, he would act exactly the same way. This pleases Erasmo. He's seen Lety suffer. [Julieta interrupts]. Erasmo says he wants Aldo to know that Lety is not alone. Aldo asks Erasmo for permission to help watch over Leticia, to protect her. Erasmo likes this. Tomas puts in his hands too, to protect Lety. Everyone laughs; Erasmo and Aldo half embrace.

Lety and Tomas think that it's strange that the cuartel has not arrived. Tomas is more preoccupied with Alicia. Lety asks Tomas for a favor - she doesn't want anyone to know that Aldo wants her. Tomas's face looks very guilty. Lety catches on that Tomas has already told someone. He remembers telling Alicia about Aldo loving Lety. Tomas lies and laughs. He is incapable of such a thing! Lety threatens Tomas saying that this is not a joke and that he better not say anything to anybody! Tomas swears that he will tell no one. After a short lull, Tomas asks Lety if he may borrow her car to go to the Bank. Lety hands over her keys. Before Tomas leaves he practices giving his card to Lety. Lety and he joke about the colors on the card. Lety suddenly becomes very sad. This office is missing something. Fernando is now flying to New York.

Sara stands on Marcia's picture in Omar’s office. She demonstrates how to scan a picture into the computer. It suddenly dawns on Omar that Sara is standing on the photo. She asks him what is wrong. He replies that it's nothing, he just wants to do this as quickly as possible. Sara continues with her instructions. Omar peers over the desk. Sara catches him, and thinks that he's looking at her butt. She backs out of the office with her hands protectively covering her rear. Omar runs for the picture, slips and smacks his head on the desk. Omar recovers and picks up the photo. He thinks to himself that Marcia will kill him if she finds out about this photo. Omar begins to scan the photo.

Back in the presidency Lety is still talking about Fernando. Lety changes the subject and says she received some mail from companies that will participate in the campaign. They spoke with Omar (I guess he does work) and now they want to sign the contract. She wants to talk to speak with Aldo. Tomas asks if she wants to speak with Aldo one or Aldo two. Lety replies that she wants the original, not the clone. The Aldo clone leaves for the Bank of Americas.

Like the strange little man that he is, Omar talks to his scan of Fernando's photo. He tells it that it will be present in Lety's life. With a whistle in his mouth and a hop in his step, Omar leaves for Lety's office. He sneaks past the cuartel only to get a strange glance from Lety. She announces that she's going to Aldo and will not be long. Omar takes this opportunity to enter Lety's office.

Alicia steps off the elevator, talking to her father. Tomas passes her. He asks how she likes the cell phone. She really, really does. He tells her to enjoy it and use it as much as she needs. Alicia tells Tomas that she could not sleep last night because she kept thinking about what he said about Aldo. She wants to know if Aldo really is in love with Lety. Tomas glances to the side and sees Lety and Aldo walking and talking. he remembers Lety saying not to tell anyone about her and Aldo.

Meanwhile...Omar begins his "brilliant" plan by placing photos all over Lety's office. He overhears Lety talking to Aldo outside of the office door. He knows that if he's caught, Fernando will not be pleased! (Run, Pinky, run!)

The cuartel rush over to Alicia to tell her that Marcia is awaiting Alicia's presence. Sara warns Alicia that Marcia has been asked for Alicia quite a few times. Alicia rushes to Marcia's office. Martha asks where Alicia got the phone. Lola thinks she took it from some idiot.

Alicia claims to Marcia that she's been the office for a while. The cuartel didn't tell her that Marcia was looking for her! Alicia says she has great news; what she thought was right. Marcia applauds Alicia for thinking. Alicia explains that Tomas said that Aldo was in love with Lety only to separate Alicia from Aldo. This news disappoints Marcia. Alicia asks why Marcia looks so sad. Marcia explains that she hoped that if Aldo was in love with Lety, then Lety would move away from Fernando.

In order to escape discovery, Omar hides himself in the cave. Aldo and Lety enter the office to talk about their morning on the bike. Lety asks if next time they're going to do motorcycles. Aldo smiles and says that he loves motorcycles, but this is not exercise. He thinks they should go skateboarding. Lety asks if Aldo is trying to kill her. Aldo replies that he'll have another surprise for her. Out of nowhere, he asks Lety if she likes that he brings her apples. Lety replies that she loves it. [Cut to Omar hiding in the cave.] He places the apples on her desk. With nowhere to go Lety sits herself on the desk. Aldo says he's going to talk to Luigi. He does some scary snicker and leaves. Lety seems to think this is very special. She admires her apple. Omar peeks out from the cave and comments to himself that this is the apple of discord. Ah! The Golden Circle of Tomorrow!

For tomorrow: When Marcia finds all these photos with her picture cut out, who's she going to blame: Omar or Lety?

Acorralada #36 - Monday 3/5/07 The wedding looms

Monday's episode opens in the court room, where Diana is found not guilty, and Max is left in the court room alone saying "Diana forgive me..."

Camila is furious that Diana is not guilty, as she thinks that Diana is her only competition for Diego's affection. She doesn't think that Marfil is a worthy competitor, which is ironic considering that she calls Diana a "muerta de hambre." (How can a muerta de hambre be more of a risk than Marfil?) Sylvia is busy grooming a new wig to replace the ridiculous rasta wig she's wearing. She agrees with Camila that the trial was a disaster, and now they're ruined. Soon they won't have money for the rent. Camila consoles herself by calling Faux Marfil to tell her the news. Faux Marfil - who looks like she's getting ready for a St. Patrick's day parade in the green top and Mardi Gras beeds, is in total shock at the news.

Meanwhile, at Granny's house, Fedora, Paco, Caramelo, Diego, Gaby, Diana & Granny are having a refresco toast to celebrate. Diana toasts to Gaviota - "the best lawyer in the world." (I'll hold back my comments on that one!) Heartwarming flutes play in the background.

At Paco's bar, Emilio, Max, and Larry are drowning their sorrows. Max says he was stupid for not believing in Diana, Emilio admits that he's in love with Paola, and Larry's still in love with Pilar. Max announces that they're the three biggest disasters in love. They're three big disasters, all right.

At Granny's house, she seems to have forgotten the shame that Diana has brought her. Now she announces her support of Diana, regardless of what happens. Diego announces that he wants to get married soon - in the next few days. Caramelo agrees that it would be best. Diana faints.

Back to Camila and Sylvia: Sylvia's now dressed as Wonder Woman. This scene was tough for me, but as I understand it, Sylvia says that she's going to get paid $500 to dance for a guy who has a fantasy about Wonder Woman?

Emilio, Max, and Larry are still at Paco's bar tying one on...

At Granny's house, Diana is awake and Diego's already pressuring her to get married soon. Caramelo agrees. Fedora/Gaviota is the voice of reason - she asks them to stop pressuring Diana, but Diana is quick to agree with Caramelo. She was foolish to fall for Maximilliano. Fedora/Gaviota tells Diana that she's 1,000 times better than Max, and Diego chimes in with his usual stalker promises. Diana agrees to get married in a few days.

Back at the mansion, Octavia & Faux Marfil are discussing the acquittal. Faux Marfil is whining that Max will divorce her when he finds out about the baby. Octavia says that won't happen because she's going to see Diana tomorrow.

Dr. Evil is flashing back to the trial when Camila rings his doorbell. They commiserate over a few drinks and the scene ends with a kiss. These two deserve each other!

It's a beautiful sunny morning and Lala and Caramelo are waiting on their men. As Lala goes off to the kitchen to fetch some ham and butter, Caramelo tells Pancho of Diego's plans to marry Diana tomorrow. Lala returns to find Pancho telling Diego that she should not be marrying Diana. Deigo storms off and Lala tells Pancho that Diana is a good person.

Pan to Max swimming laps as Faux Marfil walks up wearing a bikini that appears to be made out of the same shredded paper that pinatas are made out of. She wants to know where he was last night - celebrating the acquittal with Diana, perhaps? Max has his usual clueless expression.

As Diana prays to the Virgincita, Octavia pays her a visit. Octavia looks around like a dog sniffing out a pork chop. Dramatic music plays and we cut to commercial.

We return to the pool, where Max is denying that he spent the night with Diana and Faux Marfil's screeches are getting louder and louder. Max tells her to stop screaming because his head hurts. He explains that he got drunk with Larry and Emilio last night. She works herself up into a frenzy and Max tells her she's crazy and leaves her screaming for him to come back.

Isabella tells real Marfil that she has a visitor. The surprising thing about this statement is real Marfil's calm response. Has she already forgotten about the visit from her evil twin that almost got her killed? Anyway... Bruna walks in and real Marfil wants to know why she's there.

At Granny's house, Octavia asks Diana who's the father of the baby she's carrying.

At Isabella's house, Bruna is saying that she's there because she always thinks of real Marfil, and she worries about her health. Real Marfil tells her that she'll never forgive her for what she's done. Bruna's crying and saying that she loved them both like they were her daughters. Real Marfil says that she would be ashamed if her mother was a servant like Bruna.

Diana tells Octavia that she can't tell her who the father is. Octavia calls her trash and says it must be one of the neighborhood boys. Diana says that she owes her no explanation and asks her to leave, but Octavia refuses to leave without knowing who the father is because she has suspicions. Diana confirms her suspicions. Max is the father. And we go to commercial...

Paola & Rene are at the warehouse, and Rene wants to know what she's doing there. She says she plans to stay there because she's had it with her mom and this way she can be with Panchito. Pancho arrives and wants to know why Rene is there. (I just love the fiera-fiera-fiera theme music that plays when these two are together!)

Yolanda enters Max's room to tell him that Paola has left the house.

Octavia is telling Diana that she got what she planned all along - she's pregnant and will convince Max to divorce Marfil. Diana tells her to think what she wants. Octavia says that Max will not take responsibility for this and the child will not take the Irazabal name. Diana says that she will raise the child and Max will never know that the child is his. Octavia is confudida. Diana tells her that she plans to marry Diego, who will be the child's father.

Pancho tells Paola that she shouldn't have visitors there. Poor Paola's always getting bossed around! As Rene tries to explain that he's harmless, the Police announce that the building is surrounded and they should all come out with their hands in the air. Pancho tells Rene and Paola to run.

Yolanda and Max have moved to the living room, where they're discussing Paola. Yolanda believes that she's in danger and wants Max to find her.

Octavia is thrilled to hear of Diana's plan to marry Diego, and offers Diana a check for $50,000 to never bother Max again. Diana rips up the check and tells her that she can't be bought, and tells her to leave and never come back.

The police give Paola, Rene, and Pancho 5 minutes to come out, but Pancho says he won't because there are thousands of dollars worth of jewelry there and the organization boss will kill him if he leaves. The police threaten to fire... Paola tells him that she loves him and begs him to leave.

Diana tells Fedora/Gaviota about Octavia's offer, and Fedora/Gaviota is happy to hear that she didn't take it. Diego interrupts them to tell them that the wedding will be tomorrow at 2 in the afternoon. Fedora/Gaviota and Diana share a worried glance.

The coven is assembled poolside at the mansion and Octavia is telling them that Max is the father of the baby. Yolanda says that Max must know the truth, but Octavia swears that none of her children will know the truth. Diana will be marrying Diego, and everyone will think the baby is his. Octavia tells Bruna to tell Lala that she needs to speak with her.

At the office, Max tells Emilio that Paola is a drug addict and has left home. Emilio offers to help because he loves her with all his heart.

Lala and Octavia are discussing the marriage between Diana and Diego. Octavia wants to make sure that nobody knows that the bastard is Max's. Lala tells her that the child won't be a bastard - Diego will be the father. She agrees to keep the child's true paternity a secret. She also tells Octavia that Paola won't be seeing Pancho anymore.

At Paco's bar, Andres does not get a warm welcome from Lorenzo, and Caramelo tells him that he should leave, and tells him that Diego will be marrying Diana.

Pancho's back home -- apparently he slipped right through the police who had the warehouse surrounded. He's telling Diego that he hopes that he's happy with Diana, but he has his doubts.

Gaby tells Diego that she hopes that she finds happiness with Diego, happiness that she didn't find with Larry. Diana is not happy to be marrying a man that she's not in love with. She hopes that baby is a boy, and if he is, she will name him Maximiliano! Gaby is sure that Diego will not like this idea (ya think?). Diana says that he will have to respect her decision.

At Dr. Evil's apartment, Andres and Dr. Evil are lamenting the verdict. Dr. Evil is glad to hear that Diana will be marrying Diego tomorrow, because he knows that she'll never be happy.

In the closing scene, Diana opens the door to find Max! He wants to apologize.

credits roll.

La Fea Más Bella #224 3/5/07 in which Lety wins every round

Aah, our grateful public. 9:29 this morning and I'd already been given up for dead by a comment asking somebody else to hurry up and write a recap. Friends, I actually fell asleep last night with the recap notebook in my lap and the remote in my left hand. I resumed this morning and here you go. It's not exactly late, you know!!!!!!

I wasn't able to see the Thursday or Friday shows, so Alicia's slithering away to avoid Aldo's "let's meet for coffee somewhere quiet" (for fear of hearing something she doesn't want to hear, like for instance that he's not going to marry her) was news to me. The cuartel gives Lety her photo ID, oh be still my heart.

Fern is too distracted for normal conversation, he doesn't want his papers in a box, he wants to stuff them in his suitcase, Sara later shows up with a wild weird smile on her face and a briefcase which he pronounces satisfactory and then tells Omar "your secretary is not right in the head."

Omar says Fern's a genie, he should grant three wishes, they do a little routine from ??, Fern says, Zero Humor, Omar. Omar mocks Fern's nose (trumpet/elephant's trunk), tender from the fight. Fern asides to the cuartel that Omar is in Luigi's club.

Ariel's chauffeur shows up to take Lety to dinner, an odious engagement she'd forgotten. She says "get me the directions, I'll drive myself." Lety proves, tonight, that she's not going to let anybody push her around. Fern snatches the directions on their way to PM.

[what's with higado es encebollado? your liver's onioned? is that like, your goose is cooked?]

Tomas can't understand why Lety's willing to eat with Ariel, that jerk. "He thinks he'll take me out to a fancy restaurant, make me uncomfortable, prove I'm not ready to be president." "Oh, you'll be like a fish in water, wherever, however elegant," says her supportive friend Tomas, who nonetheless is impactado that he'll therefore have to take a taxi, or, horrors, a micro-bus - and he a blond at that! He has learned the blonds-don't-ride-the-microbus rule from that other blond in the vicinity. He tells Lety to call him on his cell if she needs help, but gets flustered remembering he gave his cell to that convenenciera Alicia.

Omar and Fern go back to the office and, as usual, Fern feints and lunges for the chair, Omar holds him back and sez "give me a chance," Fern sez "of course, after you," but then shoves him into a wall and gets the throne anyway.

Fern and an unwilling Omar are continuing the obsessive gossip about Lety's plans and intentions when they are interrupted by Marcia. He sez he'll meet her at her place later. How nice, sez Omar. She doesn't have blood in her veins, but lead, mutters Fern.

Omar mocks: while in the US, Fern is leaving Lety in the hands of the bandit. And now she has THREE suitors. Fern laughs insanely and without humor.

Seeing Marcia, Alicia rushes over to cadge a ride. Marcia sez ok on two conditions: "Be completely quiet. And don't dream of asking for a ride in the morning because I'm taking my BOYFRIEND FERNANDO to the airport."

All converge at Loco central with Alicia (still dancing around clutching Marcia's wedding dress to her own ample bosom), Marcia (in a silver satan shirt which is very unflattering), Lety ("perfumed appropriately"), and Fern. Nothing happens.

Lety arrives, unenthusiastic, at the restaurant. Ariel sez: "I've waited half an hour." "You were lucky you didn't wait all night." "Champagne?" "No, lemonade." "You don't want a stronger aperitif? You don't like alcohol?" "Yes, I do, but alcohol is for special occasions, for friends, family, people I like. With others - I drink lemonade." "This is not a special occasion?" "Yes, it's especially boring."

We suddenly see Fern, once again in the bushes talking obsessively to a bemused waiter. He calls himself an imbecile.

Ariel continues, "Lety, why not set aside your rancor?" "You think in the space of a day I'll forget the horrible things you've said and done?" "Why not?" "Well, in fact, I don't hold a grudge..." "Let's toast that, then." "... but I prefer to stay way from arrogant overbearing (prepotente) people like you. I try not to get cozy with opportunists, who end up on their knees when things to badly." "You think I'm on my knees?!" "Well, before I was president you'd never have invited me to dinner."

Ariel suavely orders the Lobster Thermidor. To Lety: "shall I order for you?" The names of foods so luxurious they are not in my dictionary drip sensuously off his tongue, but she is unmoved. "Don't knock yourself out, Ariel. Due to the caprices (azares) of fortune, the new president of Conceptos is a modest woman who enjoys what she has and doesn't need luxuries. That's an advantage during an austerity program, it ensures I won't spend funds that don't belong to me."

"Your simplicity shines brightly, it's seductive." "Waiter, chicken and asparagus, please." They assure him they're just playing a game. "Lety, even though you reject me and call me arrogant, I feel good around you, let's drink to that." "OK, and also to the hope that this evening will soon be over."

Fern, in the bushes, tells the waiter he's ready for another fight ("over THAT woman?" asks the waiter) and that Ariel's always been a louse. "He fell on his head when he was little and isn't normal [Fern pushed him] and when I took his bike he whined 'Daddy, daddy, that aggressive Fernando took my bike!' That snot! He's not the problem. Aldo, he's the real problem, he can conquer her without any trouble."

Ariel, suavely: "Too bad you didn't order the lobster." "I've had the best, on a yacht in the bay of Acapulco, freshly caught and prepared by the best chef in the world. But let's get down to business, what do you want?" "I want a big advance on my monthly stipend, as befits an important Conceptos shareholder."

There is a dull scene between Aldo and his dad, over dinner, which will be intercut through the rest of the show, contrasting Aldo's opinions about Lety and what she needs and the quality of his love versus the quality of Fern's love. It's lucky Pop showed up for dinner, else Aldo would have had to say all this stuff to himself. It boils down to: Aldo's sure he's right for Lety, his love is pure and unconditional and based on what she needs. Fern loves Lety only for himself. (It's true that Aldo only knows the worst side of the saga so I forgive him for this complacent diatribe. Also he got punched a lot so of course he's irritated.)

Lety to Ariel: "Well, you just wasted a ton of money on this dinner, because no can do, I can't give you a dime." "You just told me you hold no grudge. I NEEEEEEEED the money." "For now, the biz doesn't have the wherewithal to give you this luxury." "An economist of your caliber, who's managed before to cover up Fern's multi-million dollar disasters, you can't manage to give me a suitable hefty advance?" [Fern hurls a spitball and hits Ariel in the back of the neck, Ariel jumps.] [UPDATE: OK, OK, they weren't spitballs, they were plastic grapes, our loyal commenters inform me. My tv is far away and my eyes aren't good.]

"That, I did out of loyalty to my boss, and luckily, I owe you nothing whatsoever. Tell you what, let's cancel our order here. A guy with economic problems like yours obviously can't afford lobster." She pulls out her pocketbook, I guess to pay for her lemonade, he says not so fast.

Another spitball, Ariel jumps up. "You want to go?" she asks. "No, it's that your new personality makes me nervous. Please, let's eat. We have a lot to talk about. We can talk about your love life, how's it going?" Her eye twitches and she snaps, "We won't discuss that." "Your new position and power make you a more interesting woman." "Ariel, I'll give you advice - if you want to find an interesting woman, seek with your eyes closed so you can hear her." "How's your sex life?" is his next question, "you seem so confident, you must be getting some."

She jumps up. He takes her hand and (guácala) strokes it. "Sorry, Lety, that's just a routine question." "You want to get me mad enough to hit you in front of todo el mundo but I won't give you the satisfaction." "I hoped for a different kind of satisfaction. Aren't you lonely? I could pay your expenses..." "You'll make me your kept woman so I'll give you your advance?!!?"

Furious, she storms out and is intercepted by Fern. She says, "what is this? Ariel is inside." "I know." [He mimes his successful spitball attack.] "He was all over you!" "Yes, but I was all business." "Of course, you wouldn't put the horns on your boyfriend." "Who's my boyfriend?" "ALLLLLdo DomensaEEENNN!" "I don't have to give you explanations and you better leave lest Ariel rat us out to Marcia and say he saw you with me." "Lety, what's going on, you're not the woman you were, are you really dating two guys?" [Fern: his own worst enemy, take #MCMXII.]

Fern self-righteously warns Lety about Ariel's smooth strategies, his elegance, "is he seducing you?" "Yes, imagine, he's trying to take me to bed to save his business, to have me at his beck and call, how original, it's the first time an important executive has seduced me to save his business... let's leave it at that, but thanks for your help, without your advice, I'd surely fall cause I'm such a sucker for this kind of executive."

Fern points out that Ariel always insulted her. "Yes, but he always did it to my face, he didn't mount a secret campaign with his best friend to deceive me." She drops her guard a bit and tells him how much that had hurt her, and then resumed her sarcasm attack: "Ariel is out in the open - it's obvious he just wants me on his side."

"Don Fernando, are you afraid if I talk to Ariel, your worst enemy, it will damage your interests? Are you afraid we're planning against you?" "The truth is, I can't stand to see you with another man, not Ariel, not Aldo." "We won't talk about Aldo, but why not sit with Ariel and exchange experiences?"

Ariel's cellphone alerts them to his passing and Lety pulls Fern into the bushes to hide as Ariel strides by.

Fern blusters: "That idiot's going to hear about it from me for making fun of you!" "Don't complicate things for us more than they are already." Fern says the difference between "that executive" and "this executive" is that "that guy would never fall in love with you." "Be quiet!" "No guy could be as love with you as I am." [cut to Aldo droning on about his pure love and Fern's weakness and dishonesty]

"Don Fernando, go home. "I can't get you out of my heart, I can't forget the incredible times we had, like our getaway to Cuernavaca..." (she cries, he's making some headway) "... Let's go off together right now, I need your kisses, the touch of your skin will revive me, let's begin again, can't you see we were born for each other?"

[Aldo is telling his father: "Fern is so scattered, he makes her forget what she needs for herself, he's insecure, his self-esteem is in pieces." "Yes, but she's still in love with him." "Yes, true. My love is so pure, if I knew Fern would make her happy I would give them my blessings."]

Lety's eyes narrow. "Are you afraid Aldo is perpetrating fraud at Conceptos?" She remembers the way Fern behaved about Tomas. Despite his panicked assurances, Fern has lost her for the nonce. "Oh, I'm such an idiot, I almost believed you. Forget it, and leave me alone."

[Aldo: "The more sincere Fern tries to be, the falser he looks."]

Fern: "From now on we won't be seeing each other, I'm going away." "I hope by the time you get back you'll have matured and stopped trying to use people for your personal gain." "When I get back, I'll have found a way to prove how much I love you." She cries and it's the golden circle of goodbye.
