Duelo Monday March 19—A Crappy day for Emilio with non-stop arguing but Tonqui does pretty well for himself

The episode opens with a replay of poor little Marianita's dying wish that her mami and papi be together.

Next we are back at Santo's and his mom, Carmen's casita in San Mateo where the doctor is with Carmen as she is explaining to the Doctor that she's not really sick. Her fainting spell was to convince Santos not to go back to Sierra Escondida, where he might meet up again with his dad and arch enemy, Don Max. Santos rushes in and asks the doctor how his mom is. The doctor is playing along—he tells Santos that his mother just needs a rest and to basically do whatever she wants—no drama. It would be bad for her. The doctor leaves and Santos is full of solicitous concern. He promises not to leave town.

Back at the church in Sierra Escondida, Padre Cristobal is tending to Elias's wounds from "the fight" (actually, I think Don Loco had him on the ground with about 2 punches). Elias asks the Padre why is so quiet. PC says he's thinking about how Don Loco (who is such a credible source on these matters) told him that Emilio wants Alina to work as a maid at his hacienda. Elias becomes enraged and, still bleeding from a cut lip, pounds on the table and insists that God put him in Sierra Escondida to put a stop to these abuses against Soledad and Alina.

On the way back to La Rinconada, Alina sits across from Emilio who is looking either sulky or pensive I can't tell which. Suddenly Alina, who is bursting out of her blouse, as usual, jumps out of the coach and gets spattered with mud on the ground. Emilio tells the guy to stop. Apparently, there is a driver and his name is Chucho. Emilio immediately reaches Alina and asks why she is trying to get away. Alina says if he really cared about her, he'd let her go. Emilio says, "why, so that they can trap you again?" Emilio confesses his love for her and kisses her, large mouth bass sucky face style as the romantic theme music swells.

We zip over to Mexico City where Arcado is with Jose, outside his little girl's hospital room. Jose is ripping himself saying that he has been a bad father. Arcadio disagrees. He tells him that he tried to provide for his family and he never stopped trying to get back to see them. Malena is there, pacing around in the background.

Dr. Love pops out of Marianita's room. Jose asks, "how is my daughter?" (Wait a minute, I thought she was dead?) Dr. Love says, we've stabilized her. (I thought she was stable as in DEAD!) Jose announces that he's going to Sierra Escondida to get Mariana. Arcadio says he's coming too. Jose urges the doctor to take care of his little girl and leaves. Doctor Love looks over at Malena who is clearly uncomfortable. "I've lost her" he says. "Marianita's father is back!" Malena says, not to worry yet. When Mariana gets back, they should say nothing to her about Jose being there. And hopefully Marianita won't either. Dr. Love says dryly that Marianita is so weak that in a few hours, she won't be able to talk. Nice one doc.

In San Mateo, Mariana is just hanging up the phone. She hasn't been able to reach Malena and is worried that something has happened. Hugo comes up and tells her the bus is leaving. She bids him farewell and tells him to tell her brother that she hopes he can come to the wedding and that Hugo can also be there. With a friendly smile, Hugo sees her off. He then grimaces when she turns away.

Alina and Emilio finish up their kissy face and Alina breaks away and asks him, "What are you going to do with me when we get back the hacienda?"

At Hacienda de Loco, Soledad and Don Loco have arrived. Soledad seems to have grown a spine since the incident at the church. She's yelling at him that she never cheated on him, that he's crazy (He yells at her not to ever call him crazy—hit a nerve there I guess) and that the only reason she went back with him was so that he wouldn't kill Elias and Alina. She continues on a tirade and ends up saying, "maybe in the end it will be me who winds up killing YOU!" She stomps off leaving Alvaro looking a little lost for words for once.

Alina and Emilio are having their post kiss discussion. Alina challenges him saying that her father said that he only wanted her at the hacienda as his maid. Emilio says he knows, and that it's a lie. She goes on to remind him that he's married. Emilio says "but you still love me." Alina says, "what good does it do to tell you how I feel when we can't be together?" Emilio grudgingly accepts her logic, "Your kiss told me everything. I'll be content with that." They both head back to the carriage.

Elias and Padre Cristobal are still in conference at PC's Church office. Elias says he is worried that Soledad has given up trying to go against Don Loco. PC says no, he thinks that Soledad is strong. She'd have to be to put up with all that Don Loco has done to her over the last couple of years. Elias seizes this and exclaims that Soledad is strong, very strong and that she's going to need him to help her again in the near future to finally get out of Alvaro's clutches. PC nods slowly and looks a little uncomfortable.

Emilio and Alina are quiet again on the rest of the ride to La Rinconada. Emilio looks out the window and orange flashbacks that same night on the beach in Cancun when he got to second base with Alina. Alina orange flashbacks right after that, the night of her friend's going away party when they first met and they danced on the terrace. They exchange uncomfortable glances.

In his office, Don Max is pouring brandy or whiskey out of his decanter and is clearly in a good mood about something. He toasts himself saying "Maximo you are the Maximo!" (the best, the top, etc.) Laughing he plops on the couch. Suddenly Emilio enters the room with Alina and Don Max freaks out. Emilio explains that Alina will be staying at the hacienda. Max splutters "What about Alvaro?" Alina butts in and says, "Please Emilio, don't lie. I am here to work as a servant for the Valtierra Family." Emilio looks perplexed as does Don Max.

Gaspar and Luba are in the cave. Luba's worrying about Floralina. Gaspar says he's worried too. Luba asks him to find out if Don Loco got her before she could escape. I think a visit to Hacienda de Loco is what she's suggesting. Not just Gaspar but herself. She looks in her piece of mirror, pinches her cheeks to blush them, fixes a braid and picks up a bunch of chrysanthemums that are in a vase on the table. Out the door they go.

Back at La Rinconada, Don Max is pensive. Emilio insists that she isn't there to work. Alina says she has to have some role, for her own dignity's sake. Max agrees. It would be better to have some distance between the two of them. (Like he is some kind of social arbiter? Give me a break!) He takes Emilio aside and says, look, I've gone along with all your decisions. This time, I am going to agree with her. Alvaro may be crazy but he's not stupid. Don Max runs out of the room yelling for Vera, the housekeeper. Emilio turns to Alina and asks her why she is insisting on this. Alina says she will not accept staying there any other way. Vera comes in and Don Max fills her in. From today on, Alina's going to be a housemaid. Vera is impactada but only for a few seconds. Don Max tells her to take Alina away and give her quarters and tell her her responsibilities. Vera leads Alina out of the room. Emilio says, "Uncle, she can't work here!" Max says "Nephew, sit down, lets have a drink and talk."

Soledad is wandering around her room. She's now dressed in all black, kind of like Don Loco's preferred style. She's complaining that Don Loco has locked her up again (Whaa?! I thought she had finally gotten through to him. Guess not). Soledad sits in front of the statue of the Virgin and prays, once again to save her daughter.

Alina and Vera are paused outside Alina's new room. Alina tells her, it's the best room she's had in a long time (certainly after a cave, a brothel and a barn it must seem like the Ritz! The church room didn't look so bad though.) Vera sighs and says she can't believe Alina being a maid. "Not in my worst nightmare," says Vera. Thelma sidles up in another one of her halter top maternity thingies, this one with sequins around the neck and empire waist. She tells Alina that she's been waiting for her to show up. Alina responds that coming to La Rinconada wasn't her idea. Thelma says she knows, it's just another one of Emilio's whims. Thelma tells Vera to leave the two of them alone. Vera protests telling her that Don Maximo ordered her…Thelma cuts her off and yells "I don't care what Don Maximo ordered, obey me!" Vera slinks off. Thelma tells her that this is her house and that Alina will have to get used to following her orders. Here she will be nothing more than a maid. For effect Thelma rubs a table and complains that it is dirty and for Alina to start cleaning. Next Thelma takes a potted plant off the table and throws it on the floor and insists that she clean that up too. "Obey me!" she yells at Alina who looks stunned. Just then Emilio comes in and says "Alina will not be cleaning anything!"

Thelma tells him to butt out. If Alina is going to be a maid, she's going to have to learn to obey her, and clean! Emilio says no, he's not going to let Thelma treat her like that. Thelma is on a rampage here. She insists that Alina be treated like a maid and what's more, she wants people to call her Flor del Campo not Alina Montellano. Alina speaks up and complains that she knows very well who she is. But Thelma plays her trump card. She accuses her of trying to break up her marriage and tells Emilio that he has to choose between her and the baby and Alina. (Now I know most of us would be saying, "gee, stone cold two faced bitch on the one hand…" but putting the baby in the mix lays a guilt trip on Emilio and Alina and you can guess what happens next.) Emilio gives her a dark look but both he and Alina are stunned into silence.

Luba has made it over to Don Loco's hacienda office. Luba tries to wheedle where Alina is out of him. She pretends that she wants to take care of her again because she can use the money. She hands him the flowers which he throws on his desk. He says she is no longer there so, that's not going to happen. She goes to a shelf and picks up a vase and plops the flowers in them. Don Loco says, "well maybe your vein of gold isn't exhausted yet. I've heard that you can work miracles with your herbs." Luba agrees that she has some skills in that area. Don Loco says he needs her to cure his wife. Luba agrees to come back with her herbs to see if she can cure her. She leaves but before she goes, she manages to polish the whip on Don Loco's desk. (Ana Martin and Sergio Goytri look like they had a blast with that scene).

Back to rampaging Thelma who is now insisting that they speak up. She says that maybe mentioning his child, did the trick. It turns out that Emilio just can't believe his luck that she's asking him to choose between her and Alina. He's about to answer when Alina interjects herself, saying that she doesn't want to be a cause of conflict between them. She says she knows what she's supposed to do and she's going for the broom. She walks off. Thelma turns to Emilio and says, "at least she knows her place in this house. Maybe you do too now." Thelma stalks off and leaves Emilio standing there looking disgruntled.

At Edelmira's, Coral and Grani are working together on some dance choreography. Coral is all bump and grind and Grani wants something more elegant and so the two have an artistic disagreement and Coral stomps off the stage followed closely by Grani. Who should enter the scene but Gaspar! I guess he had a different idea about where to look for Flor. Gaspar is immediately surrounded by several of Edelmira's girls who all seem to want him badly. They ask him to choose between them and then one gets the idea that he could have them all at once! Before it goes any farther, Edelmira shows up and tells them to scram. The guy is retarded and he has no money. (Somehow I think the latter is more important to her than the former.) He asks her about Flor and Edelmira tells him that she hasn't been there in weeks. She kicks him out.

Jaime and Vera are chatting in the kitchen about Alina's new job. She'll make sure that Flor gets some new clothes, has a bath, etc. But she is sure that Thelma is going to make her life impossible. Just then Tonqui comes running into the kitchen and starts nosing the food on the table. Everybody recognizes Tonqui as Floralina's dog. He manages to touch a sausage on the table and Jaime grabs it and runs out the door with it, closely followed by the jumping Tonqui.

It's night. Jose and Arcadio have arrived in San Mateo. They stop at Carmen and Chela's café where Chela waits on them. Santos shows up to work after staying with his mom during the day and Chela asks him to wait on the two men. Santos takes one look and realizes that one of them is Jose Gomez.

In Puebla, General Ochoa is conferring with an officer about the case of Jose Gomez, the fugitive from Central America. He orders the officer to go put out a bulletin for his immediate capture.

Thelma is complaining to Orlando that Emilio is still hanging around Alina. Orlando asks her what Alina is doing. Thelma admits that she is taking her role as a servant seriously and is acting accordingly. "But that could stop at any moment." Orlando tells her to relax, he'll take on the task of separating her from Emilio. He's going to become her only friend at La Rinconada. And what's more she, Thelma, is going to help him. Thelma gives him a dark look and stalks off. Orlando gives her a faint wave and resumes drinking his glass of whatever booze he poured himself out of the decanter.

Emilio deep into an argument with Don Max in Emilio's room. Don Max is yelling that it was a terrible idea to bring Flor to La Rinconada. He knows that "Thelma is a bad, bad woman but she's still your wife." Thelma arrives from her little chat with Orlando just in time to listen at the door to hear herself being called a bad woman by Don Max. Emilio says he wouldn't have chosen Thelma if he could have. "Yes, I know, says Don Max, "you would have chosen Flor." "That woman has driven you crazy." Emilio agrees, that with all the insults and disgust that Alina has hurled his way, with all the complications, he still loves her. Emilio finishes up by saying that Damn Love (Maldita Amor)! Thelma takes that as her cue and comes in smirking and repeating "Maldita Amor." Emilio isn't pleased to see her.

Meanwhile, Flor is sweeping up the plant, wearing a bright yellow huipil (one of those formless shirt dresses that all the maids seem to wear). Who should happen by but Angel and Sexy Nurse Susi. Who is still wearing that white see through blouse and the tight white pants. Angel is stunned to see her cleaning the floor.

Back to the threesome of Don Max, Thelma and Emilio in Emilio's room. Emilio looks like he has a headache from all the argument and now he has to deal with Thelma. Don Max excuses him to go see Castulo and check whether the sow has given birth to her piglets yet. ( Not sure if this is some kind of insult at Thelma or he really has to do that. He gives his regards to Thelma) In any event, he goes and Thelma and Emilio are left alone together. Emilio complains that she was spying on them. Thelma admits it freely and says, in the end, his problems are now hers anyway. Emilio says, "wow, when did you become so understanding?" Thelma tries to work on the guilt angle some more, complaining that everything she did, she did for their child. Emilio complains that she should never have married him while he was unconscious. She complains that he was going to marry Alina to keep her from insisting that they marry. Emilio agrees that he should never have done that. Thelma takes this as a victory.

Flor and Angel walk into the great room. She explains to Angel the whole set up with her being a maid, Thelma trying to humiliate her, and herself trying to keep her distance from Emilio, to try not to become a point of contention between Thelma and Emilio. Angel is amazed that she can keep her smile, her composure while talking about all these bad things that have happened to her. He shows her his painting of her. Flor is impressed. He asks if he can be her friend and if he can paint her again, in a nature scene, with flowers in her hair. Flor agrees and extends her hand. (Wow, she has a hell of a bruise on her forearm. I Wonder if that happened in the big showdown at the Church or when she was kidnapped.)

Back to the hell that is Emilio and Thelma. Thelma is doing the guilt trip again, she offers to get their marriage annulled or whatever to leave the way open for him to marry Flor. But then she'll have to explain to their child why Daddy left Mommy for another woman. Emilio is ticked off at this description, saying that's not what happened. And anyway, Flor won't accept him if he abandons his child. She'll hate him. Thelma is happy just to get him to admit that Flor hates him. Emilio can't take anymore, he's going downstairs for a drink. After he leaves the room, Thelma chuckles to herself that she's gotten Emilio tied to her now, with this argument. Hopefully, someday, it will be for love, she thinks.

Emilio heads downstairs for the drink. Vera comes in and announces a visitor. It's Elias. He's not happy. He tells Emilio that they have unfinished business.

Over at Hacienda de Loco, Don Loco and Hugo are sitting in Don Loco's office. Hugo is reporting that Mariana took the bus back to Mexico City as planned. Don Loco reports that he has Soledad back in her room at the Hacienda. Now he's decided he has to win her back. He wants her to love him again.

Soledad is in her room, with Luba administering Tea to her. Soledad finally fills her in that Alina is at la Rinconada. Luba thinks this is a horrible idea. There she will suffer more, with that terrible woman there. (I think she says Thelma "es como un casco ligeros—I haven't a clue what this is. A lightweight helmet? I think Luba understands that Thelma is sneaky and mean but not stupid).

Back to Elias and Emilio. Elias wants to know about this story he's heard that Emilio just wants Alina as a servant. Emilio says that's not true and by the way, where did he hear that? He's only wanted to help Alina. Elias tells him that Padre Cristobal is the source. Emilio tells him he's sure that he heard that from Don Loco. In any event, Elias doesn't want Alina to have to stay at la Rinconada. As soon as he can get Soledad out of Locolandia, he's going to take both of them out of Sierra Escondida. "And you, he adds, will never see them again" Elias concludes. He leaves.

Emilio swallows hard. He really needs that drink now.

Angel, with Sexy Nurse Susi is, on the other hand, content as he takes his medicine. SNS notes his good mood. Angel really wants to get better now. Alina is going to be around all the time. He wants to be able to walk, to paint. He wants to be able to protect her. SNS, smiles wanly. This isn't going her way. "Protect her from who?" "From Thelma, from everyone who wants to humiliate her." "Besides" says Angel, "I still have hope that Alina will want to marry me." SNS looks like she just tasted something bad.

Back at the café in San Mateo, Jose, Arcadio and Santos are sitting at a table talking. Santos has just dropped the bombshell on Jose that Don Alvaro thought that Jose had an affair with Soledad and that Alina is his daughter. "It's been martyrdom for poor Soledad and for Alina," Santos finishes up. Jose, stands up, "I've got to fix this right away!" Santos asks tentatively, "So Alina isn't your daughter." Jose looks at him like he is loco—"How could you think that?" (I don't think that the math skills in this town are so great. Then again, look at Santos's mom Carmen who must have been 2 years old when she had him.) Alina and Jose could be the same age for that matter. ) Just then, a military officer jumps out of nowhere and arrests Jose and Arcadio. The men protest that they have to get to Sierra Escondida. The military guy hauls them off and Santos is left standing there amazed at the turn of events.

Back in Mexico city, Mariana has arrived. She finds the note Malena left telling her that Marianita is very sick in the hospital. She freaks out. Just then Dr. Love and Malena arrive and Mariana assails him with questions. She asks what happened—she never would have left town if she hadn't thought that the therapy was working. Dr. Love finally decides to tell her the truth—he tells her he lied before, Marianita is terminal. Mariana totally loses it. She runs at him and tries to hit him screaming that he let her go far away, knowing that Marianita could die while she was gone. She tells him that there is no name for what he did to her. She will never forgive him. Never! Mariana runs out of the room into a bedroom and tries to slam the door, but it doesn't quite close. (Like a lot of these cheapo doors in Telenovelaland).

At La Rinconada, Alina is looking in a three way mirror, wearing her colorful huipil. She talks to herself about how much has happened. How she used to be a happy-go-lucky person and now she doesn't know where all that went. (Funny, I thought Angel was just remarking on how happy and serene she seemed…) She touches her lips as if to remind herself of Emilio's kiss.

Emilio is downstairs drinking his copita with Orlando, complaining about what a crappy day he's had. Orlando offers that a lot of it must be due to his decision to bring Alina to la Rincondada. Orlando tries to make Emilio feel guilty for Angel's being in love with Alina, as if her being there tortures him. Emilio sighs, one more worry on his plate. He finds it incredibly hard himself to have her living there, so close and yet they can't be together.

In Mexico city, in Marianita's hospital room, a nurse is frowning over her bedside. Marianita looks like a little alien with her bald head and that plastic bubble over her head. (I guess it is supposed to be an oxygen mask but since her face is completely out of it, I wonder how it is supposed to work.) The nurse adjusts something and leaves. Mariana has arrived and goes to Marianita's bedside. She comforts her little girl who promptly goes back to sleep. Mariana steps away to pray that God not take her yet.

Days later, back at Sierra Escondida, Don Loco is watching Luba give Soledad her tea. Soledad isn't wearing black anymore, more like a plain cotton flowered blouse. Luba hands her something secretly.

Over at La Rinconada, Flor is sweeping the floor and Thelma happens by, eating something. She drops the plate with the food on it and it shatters on the floor. She walks away and laughs.

At the construction site, Elias and his fellow engineer continue to work on the new highway.

On another day, Alina is serving Emilio his morning orange juice on the terrace. He's finally wearing his uniform, like he actually is working again! Their hands touch as she hands him the glass. He looks hopefully at her but she turns and walks away.

Mariana is still at Marianita's bedside.

More highway construction scenes.

Finally, we see poor old long suffering Jose, in jail, with Arcadio. Shouting at the military guard to let him out. His daughter is dying. (I think we might all agree that Jose wins the contest hands down for "It sucks to be you, guy," in this novela.)

Rosita is at the doctor's office. She wants to know what she has. The doctor says, nothing bad! It's good news! You're pregnant! Rosita is quite understandably impactada.

Over at la Rinconada, Thelma is more noticeably pregnant with a loose shirt and belt around her waist. She's pacing around like a caged lioness again, complaining to Orlando, yet again, about how Emilio is still pining for Alina. He doesn't even try to hide it. Orlando can only laugh about how Angel and Emilio are both obsessed with Alina and yet he's going to be the guy to get her in the end.

Alina at this time is posing for Angel by the river with Tonqui. She's wearing a pretty pink dress and laughing. Angel asks her if she has had enough for the day. He puts down his brushes and walks over to her. He tells her she is pretty and he leans forward to kiss her on the cheek. Alina pulls away slightly but before anything else happens, Emilio, arrives wearing his green uniform looking like a thundercloud. He demands that Angel get away from her. Angel tries to explain that he was only going to kiss her on the cheek, that they are just friends now. Emilio doesn't buy it. Angel accuses him of being jealous.

Thelma is still ranting about Floralina with Orlando listening. She swears she will do everything possible to make sure that that dirty girl (esa mugrosa) leaves here. Orlando is having none of it. Having Floralina leave doesn't fit with his plans to seduce her. Thelma concedes that she has to go along with his plan but for him to hurry up already and get her out of there. Emilio probably won't let him. Orlando counters that there is nothing Emilio can do. He's a married man and Floralina is too decent to let him come near her. Besides, Thelma should calm down, she's got Emilio and when the child is born, he will be more tied to her than ever. "Unless" says Orlando "The child is born as retarded as his father." Thelma huffs off angrily. (Maybe the child will be born with birth defects because of all the drinking, whoring and tight clothes she's been wearing?" Don't blame poor Gaspar lady…)

Back to Alina, Angel and Emilio by the river. Emilio insists that he is not jealous. He's just protesting the lack of respect on the part of his brother. Alina insists that no lack of respect took place. "Aha, then you liked it when he kissed you!" accuses Emilio. Angel tells Emilio to calm down, he's upsetting Alina. Alina decides it's better for her to go and despite Angel's protest, she and Tonqui leave. Emilio insists that Angel stay, that the two of them have to talk. Emilio says he's decided to send Angel back to Puebla. Angel says (yet again) nothing doing. He's staying right there at La Rinconada. Emilio accuses him of trying to win over Flor (conquistar—when Orlando says it, I think he means seduce. I think Angel means it in a different way, to win her over, to accepting him, more a difference in approach than anything else). Angel very cleverly says he's not trying to win over Flor—he's trying to win over Alina Montellano. Emilio isn't so much impactado as frustrated by his brother's new found tenacity. I think he's gone a whole day without coughing, even with an argument that should have brought on an attack!

Alina and Tonqui are walking away from the river. They meet up with Rosita, sobbing by a tree. I guess they haven't talked in all this time. Rosita fills her in on Santos's departure and on her getting raped. (deshonrada)

Back in Mexico City, Mariana is coming out of Marianita's room. Malena approaches her and asks how the little girl is. "Muy mal" is the answer. She isn't eating or talking.

Soledad is thinking alone in her room. She thinks that if Jose Gomez would only come back he could explain who the letter was for. She starts crying. Don Loco comes in and tries to convince her that if only she would understand why he did what he did…He says he forgives her betraying him because he loves her. Soledad gives him a cold stare. She says that what he's describing isn't love. He thinks so little of her that she would betray him. Suddenly, Adela's at the door. Hugo is looking for Dn Loco. Don Loco takes off and Adela is left to see Soledad standing there in tears.

At the river, Angel is packing up his stuff. Emilio asks him if he thinks he can make Alina happy. Angel says, "why not, I am as much a man as you are." "But you are still in love with her, aren't you?" says Angel. Emilio frowns and looks evasive.

Next time: Gaspar finds out that Thelma lied about losing the baby. Soledad slaps Sergio. Thelma tells Floralina that she and Emilio are leaving "this horrendous place."

La Fea Más Bella #234 3/19/07 in which the cuartel goosesteps and Lety reflects on the virtues of her finance company.

Aldo's new book is out. "I can't ask more from life!" (But as we know, he does.) Lety dodges his most ardent embraces, there in the kitchen with the poofy hats on.

The cuartel wonders if Lety will invite them to the Expo - it begins tomorrow. "We've been so supportive she has to invite us!" "Have you forgotten what jerks you were about the Aldo gossip?" asks Irma.

Lety drives up; when the creepy cuartel asks why she's alone, she says Tomas has gone to get his new car and Aldo has to go to the publishers, then says "tomorrow is very important here at Conceptos." "We've worked so hard for you - but we'd work harder if you'd invite us to the Expo." "Of course I invite you." "Fern's coming back today, y'know."

Aldo and Julieta are still in the kitchen. She confides: "My husband's not an easy guy to get along with, he doesn't warm to folks, he criticizes the whole world, he hates all Lety's male friends but Tomas - he's jealous. But he fell for you right away." She hints at the tough stuff they've been through and says Erasmo invited Fern into their home "because he was Lety's boss," but then the bad stuff happened.

Erasmo shows up, Aldo teaches him to say "chefs" instead of "cocineros" and suggests he stay and help Julieta cook since he (Aldo) has to leave. Erasmo says he doesn't cook or do kitchenly things and instead asks to drive Aldo to the publishers.

Tomas drives up to Conceptos in "Cornhair's" car. Lety: "Where did you get this? You can't have been enough of an idiot to get the Airhead's car back for her?" "Well, I did, but not for her - there were problems so I got it at a good price."

Meanwhile, Oxy is on the meeecroboooss. While the cuartel is musing on the sidewalk ("First the cellphone, now the car, with Tomas she's won the lottery!") Alicia spots her car and barks at the microbus drive to let her off. She sobs and breathes all over it, stroking it, crooning to it. Celso says maybe it isn't hers, the glove compartment is different. She ignores that. "My precious little car, but why is it here?" "It's Mora's." "Oh, no, it's mine, I recognize the smell..." They tell her again that it now belongs to Tomas and she frowns, commercial impactada.

After the commercial, Omar is sleeping/drooling on Luigi's shoulder while Luigi finishes the commercials. (Babearse = dribble, drool, slobber on yourself.) Alicia is still discussing the car with the cuartel (sigh). "What happened to Marcia's car?" "None of your business." "She (Alicia) probably hocked it to pay her debts." "No, I didn't, because I don't have debts. It's safe." "She doesn't have money to buy gas." "No, I just like to experiment with new things. I took the microbus to see how ugly poor people like yourselves get around."

They say it's not that she doesn't understand that the car is Mora's, she just doesn't WANT to understand.

Alicia goes into the office and marvels at the new colors of the secretaries' area (sigh). "These are divine colors, and Divine Justice has brought my car back."

Tomas, in his office, talks to his photo of Alicia, asking "would you like to go out for a spin?" - she barges in and he hurriedly turns it so the Einstein side is facing outwards. I think we're supposed to notice his haircut resembles Einstein's.

Alicia: "I died of pleasure to see my car back, not even a scratch on it, how'd you do it?" "The lawyers hadn't been able to sell it and wanted to close the case so they accepted my offer."

Alicia assumes he did it for her and says, "oh, I'll give you a little something for it each month, you'll be very flexible of course because we're such good friends." His cellphone is plunged deeply into her cleavage - only its antenna is showing. "I never stopped appreciating you."

"You don't have to pay me anything!" "I can't take it without something in return, I'll give you a token payment, not right now of course because I have bills to pay..." He repeats she doesn't have to pay anything. "Ay, Tomy!" She grabs his head and thrusts it down into her bosom, the cellphone antenna is probably sticking into his ear. "You're GIVING it to me?" "No, I can't." "Why?" "Because I bought it for myself."

She drops him on the floor. "First you promised me money for the car and took advantage of my innocence. Then you gave me that check with the bad signature. You've ruined my life and taken what's most precious - my car! No, Mora, it's MINE. I paid for it with the sweat of my - well, with the sweat of my ex-husband's brow." "Well, I could take you for a spin." "No way, you're not even getting me to the street corner." She slaps him.

The phone rings, it's her dad. She says, "This is going to be a long phone call, hope you have time - remember that cockroach who deceived me? He's swindled me again. (Estafar = swindle.)

In one of this show's ever more vapid and hopeless attempts to make the cuartel amusing, they goosestep into the office. They admire the redecorating (sigh). They find out from Alicia that Marcia will be back in time for the Expo.

In Tomy's office Lety asks acerbically why he brought so much trouble on himself by buying Alicia's car. Eventually he abandons the "it's a good investment" line and admits he just wanted his chica's attention. "I thought I'd share it with her, but she didn't like the idea." "You won't get anywhere with her unless you flat out give her the car, and that would be the biggest mistake of your life."

(Sobar: handle, suck up to.)

Annoyed, he parries - "You're nervous because Fern's coming back today." Annoyed, she parries: "Maybe I'm nervous looking at your hair which is the same color (orange) as the walls."

Tomas calls Fern "Mandiola" (bossy) again and taunts Lety for not being over him. "Tomas, the difference between you and me is that I learned my lesson, but you're still hung up on a lost cause." She marches out as Tomas says: "Don't march!"

In the publisher's office, Aldo is handed the first copy of his book, hot off the presses. Erasmo is impressed and reads the introduction out loud and yadda yadda about food and sacred familial sharing blah blah blah.

Simon brings Tomas the Conceptos water bill. Tomas says it's pretty cheap and delivers a little PSA about public water systems.

Lety queries her diary: "Will Don Fernando come back ready to show how much he loves me, the way he promised before he left?"

Fern arrives. He's nervous and asks if Marcia is back. Alicia says "she wanted to be back, but no airplane wanted to take her." "Those pilots, how temperamental they are" he jokes. There is forced laughter. "I'm waiting for a VERY important call" he squeaks like Luigi, and again forced laughter. "My joke wasn't that funny. But really, I'm expecting a very important visitor." [Oh dear, I suppose this is going to be the NYC chica -- ed.]

He leaves and the cuartel gossips: "Did you notice, he didn't ask about Lety?"

Lety, in her office, asks PM for the guest lists and when she hears Fern is back, asks hopefully: "Did he ask after me?" "No, he didn't ask about Marcia either." "No little message?" "No."

Simon dances in with the day's mail, expecting applause. "I have the usual tragic notices from the bank for [Alicia]." He sidles up to PM but then rebuffs her. "We're still mad at each other?" she asks. "Yes." "OK, then starting today I declare myself completely at liberty. There will be a lot of real sexy guys at the Expo."

Alicia grumps that people of PM's low level won't be invited to the Expo so of course we have to hear how Lety invited them all.

Simon says he doesn't care, and after he leaves, PM cries. He then gives Lety the statement from the credit company which is financing her car; she holds it up to the camera and says they have the best rates in town. Simon is oh so interested because he might want to buy a car some day. The camera lingers on the letterhead of this mortgage company. [I fear this is the future of TV. - Ed.]

Erasmo asks Aldo, "Is it hard to write a book? Because I have a great story to tell, it would be a bestseller, it's about my Uncle Lazaro Solis."

Simon gives Tomas his cellphone statement. He opens it - the size of the bill makes his hair stand up on end (that's a little joke). He is dizzy and staggering as he shrieks, "That woman never stops talking!" Simon says he'd have thought a Vice-President of Finance of Tomas's caliber would never have lent his phone to somebody like that. "I have to get it back! oh, but then she won't have the phone or the car... I know! she promised to give it back when I paid her salary, so I'll pay her."

Fern and Omar embrace, then race towards the Seat of Power. Fern says, "With the redecorating this has to stop - we can't go leapfrogging over the desk and breaking things. We'll seat ourselves in a democratic, civilized manner." They play chinchupu for the honor of the Seat of Power and when Fern loses he mutters about the short straw.

They tell each other "I missed you." Omar: "You stopped calling me!" "I was busy, airplanes, meetings..." "And that bonbon you met in NYC?"

Fern tries to talk about the Expo, but Omar says "This is not your priority of yore. Aren't you going to ask me about your little gargoyle and Domensain?" Fern ignores the jab and continues trying to talk about work, but Omar persists. "Are you serious?" "Do I have my joking face on? "You've grown up?" "All I care about is that the campaign goes well and we pay our debts."

"You don't fool me, I know you better than you think, I changed your diapers when you were a baby..." "OK, Carvajal, it's true - I'm dying to know about Domensolin." "DomensaEEN. OK, welcome back." They rise and embrace and then Omar slips into the Seat of Power, citing the "you snooze you lose" rule.

"My intention, Carvajal, is to convince Lety I don't care any more. I'm doing pretty well, eh, a good actor?" "I don't want to worry you but all this time, Aldo and Lety have been together upstairs, downstairs, everywhere, enchanted with life."

The Golden Circle of Goodbye zeroes in on Fern's impactado look of dismay.

Zorro-Monday March 19, 2007: "Will the Real Zorro Please Stand Up"

Diego tells everyone in the church that he is the owner of Esmeralda’s heart and that is why he objects to her marrying Montero. Esme makes a move toward Diego, but Monty holds her back. He draws his sword and lunges toward Diego. Diego pulls out a pistol from under his cloak. Esme uses this opportunity to remove her veil and run toward Diego. Fernando asks Diego is he is crazy. Diego tells him that he tried to explain when he was at the governor’s home, but FS didn’t listen. So now, Diego says, he’s willing to pay the consequences. Monty tells Diego that he’ll never get away with this and this provides further proof that Diego is Zorro (I don’t quite get this, but I’ll make some allowances for Monty being in distress, and all). Diego takes this opportunity to shoot down the chandelier from the ceiling. The gunshot and the crashing chandelier cause panic in the church. Wedding guests start to flee out of the church and Diego and Esme are able to make their escape by blending in with the crowd. Smiles cross the faces of Almudena, Padre Tomas, Olmos, and Catalina (why she smiles, I don’t know). Mariangel looks pissed off. Outside the church, in the plaza people are running around like crazy. SAM tries to call the soldiers into action, but Renzo (the cute gypsy man) sets some fireworks ablaze. The sound of the fireworks add to the confusion, and our brave SAM ducks down. This is how Pizarro finds him when he comes storming out of the church.

Meanwhile, Esme and Diego break off from the crowd and find Azucena and Jonas. They have a couple of horses waiting for them to make a hasty escape. Esme thanks them for their help and Jonas says something about anything for the princessa. As Diego and Esme are riding away we see Zorro (Bernardo) standing on the rooftop. SAM (spurred to action by Pizarro) sees Zorro and thinking that he is the bigger threat sends his troops in pursuit of him. Pizarro sees this and asks what SAM is doing. SAM-“We’re about to get Zorro.” P-“ My orders were for you to capture de la Vega, not Zorro!!”

The soldiers are still after Zorro/Bernie. As Z-B is heading out of town he comes across our other Zorro clad character, Tobias. Tobias has to put on his glasses over his mask to see what is coming his way. He gets all excited when he sees its Zorro. As Zorro gets closer, the coward in Tobi comes out. He begs Zorro to not kills him, but Bernie just rides on by him, only giving him a strange look. The soldiers, still in pursuit catch sight of Zorro-Tobi. Not able to tell the difference they are headed right for him. Tobi tells them that they are mistaken, he’s not the real Zorro, in fact Zorro went that away. The soldiers think this is one of Zorro’s tricks, and in order to show they mean business the shoot Tobi’s Zorro hat right off of his head. Tobi knows they are serious and he flees on his horse.

Montero demands Pizarro to tell him what the status is on capturing Diego. Pizarro tells Montero that the soldiers did not get Diego, instead they began to pursue Zorro when they caught sight of him. Fernando over hears this bit of their conversation and obviously finds it rather interesting. Monty doesn’t like this news and complains to Pizarro that Diego and Esme have run off together. P-"Funny, I thought he kidnapped her." M-"You saw she left with him of her own will." P-"No, I didn’t hear her say anything, all I saw was Diego with a gun, threatening you and him leaving with Esme." Montero likes the way that Pizarro thinks and tells him to mount a search party to find Diego and the “kidnapped” Esme.

In front of the church, Esme’s aunt Dena begs FS to do something, that Esme is in danger, with the way that Monty is acting, he could get her killed. Mariangel says that Esme brought this all on herself. She goes on, Esme’s Monty’s wife and she disgraced him in the worse way, running off with another man. Olmos says that MA is right, Esme acted disgracefully. FS –“Basta!! I’ve heard enough from you three. I know what I have to do.” FS approaches Monty. FS-“Two things are clear to me 1-If Zorro has appeared, then the accusation against Diego is unfounded.” M-“That would be up to the judge.” FS- “Second, if you choose to follow him, I expect you to have respect for life.’ M-“I know my responsibilities, and I assure you that my wife, Esme, will be OK, but for Diego, well, he kidnapped my wife, so if he resists, well, then he’ll die.”

Padre Tomas meets with a man dressed in a brown cloak (I’m assuming it’s the guy from yesterday’s episode). PT-“We asked you to protect him, not put him in further danger.” Cloaked Man (CM)-“There was no other way, Diego wanted to get inside the church and the disguise was the only means.” PT-“Diego was thinking with love (so not thinking clearly?), he could have been killed. You put him in danger.” CM-“What about you padre, I heard you use a sacrament that is no longer valid. Don’t worry, soon a very important person will come to town who will bring back calm to Los Angeles. As long as this person remains, so will the calm.” (OK, I went back and watched this scene three times and even resorted to turning on the cap-text in English. I just don’t get what happened here. Are the rest of you just as confused as I am?)

Diego and Esme are now outside the town, in what appears to be some sort of forested area with hay all over the ground. They rehash Diego’s torture and escape from prison. He tells Esme that he ended up in the gypsy camp. They talk about how much they love each other. Esme expresses some fear over what Monty might do to them. Diego tells her don’t worry, let’s not waste our time thinking about Montero because he’s not worth it. Esme confesses to Diego that the previous evening, Monty had the judge marry them right away. So in the eyes of the law, she is Monty’s wife. Diego esta muy impactado. Esme goes on to explain that Monty did this because he wasn’t going to allow Esme to trick him again. She asks Diego to forgive her, that now there are all these problems with Monty because he thinks of her as his trophy. Diego tells her that she is no man’s trophy. "You are the woman I love and no piece of paper from the judge will ever separate you from me." D-“After I took my oath as Zorro, I never thought love was for me. Now I know I have two missions in my life. One, as Zorro to protect the weak and helpless, and two, to love you.” These words affect Esme and she and Zorro kiss. One thing leads to another and the hay strewn ground gets put to use. NOTE---I’m glad to see that there are still marks on Diego’s back, seeing as it has been less than 24 hours since he was whipped an inch from his life by Pizarro.

At the de la Vega residence, Dolores tells Yumali that they cannot let Alejandro know what happened with the would-be assassin. The two need to get their stories straight. Yumi wants to tell Al what happened, he needs to know that Monty ordered the hit on his life. Dolores tells Yumi that would be bad news. Al is really weak right now and if they tell him Monty was behind it, Al is going to want to confront Monty. Yumi gets the big picture and agrees. Dolores tells her to get rid of the body and Dolores will think of something to tell Al. (One thing I’ve figured out that bugs me about Yumi is that she constantly refers to herself in the third person. Cathy doesn’t like it when people do this. It really bugs Cathy. Cathy thinks that referring to oneself in the third person is something that should only be done by the Queen of England, and Cathy thinks that Yumi needs to remember she’s not a queen, she’s only a maldita india.) Dolores goes into Al’s room and hold on, big surprise, he’s worried. He heard a gunshot. Dolores tells him that one of his men used the gunshot to scare the would-be assassin into confessing. The man admitted that he was there to rob the place. Dolores tells Al that the men have taken the thief to the authorities. Al is suspicious. He wants to know where Yumi went. Dolores tells him she’s in the kitchen. Al comments that this all seems strange and he asks Dolores if she’s telling him the truth.

Esme and Diego are straightening out their clothes and discussing where they should go and what they should do. Diego tells her that he has got lots of friends in the area, so they don’t need to worry. Before they go anywhere he wants to go check on his dad. Esme thinks that would be dangerous. Diego says it would be if they went in the front door, but they are going in a secret entrance. This intrigues Esme. Diego tells her that he wants to share all of his secrets with her.

Dena begs Fernando to use his power to help Esme. She is afraid that Monty is going to hurt Esme. FS asks her what more can he do that he hasn’t already done. Dena-“Let her be happy and leave her alone.” She goes on to say that FS saw today what Diego and Esme’s love can accomplish. FS says that after today, Esme is no longer his daughter. This ticks off Dena. FS goes on to say that she is now the legitimate wife of Monty, so he cannot interfere. FS continues on about how he’s to blame, he went back on his word to Monty and all that has happened is the result. Esme should know that there are consequences for your actions and it is within Monty’s rights to defend his honor. D-“What if he kills her?” FS-“Then he’s doing me a great favor.” Dena doesn’t like this at all and she gives FS what for. D-“I’ve lost all of these years standing by you, trying to change you, all for naught. You are a cruel man!!” FS hardly seems moved. He tells Dena that if she is going to leave his house, to at least do it decently—if Al gets well she should marry him.

Somewhere in the de la Vega home Yumi is taking a bath. I guess we can only assume she took care of the body and now is trying to rid herself of its stench? For whatever reason getting rid of a body makes Yumi think of Al romantically and she has a flashback to the night she snuck into Al’s bed and started kissing him. She conveniently forgets that he pushed her away. Yumi’s upset that Al is engaged to the one-eyed man’s sister, but she consoles herself by saying that Al may marry Dena, but Yumi is the woman that’s in his blood (would this translate to under his skin?).

Mariangel and Catalina rehash the happenings at the church. Cat comments that she thought MA told her that Diego didn’t love Esme, but by the looks of things it appears that he does. MA says he was just doing all of this to make her (MA) jealous. Besides, now that Esme is married to Monty she’ll have to go back to him. Also, since they know that Diego isn’t Zorro, he’ll have to be let free and then she’ll get him back.

Pizarro and Monty rehash and Pizarro tells Monty that they haven’t found Esme. Pizarro suggests that they take Al hostage and force Diego to return Esme in exchange. Monty is ticked off, he thought Al was dead, didn’t he send someone to take care of Al? Pizarro says that the man failed, and another one of his men had to shoot him to keep him quiet. Monty rants on about how people are laughing at him and how Pizarro has failed him. So, now Monty decides that he needs to take care of things personally. He’s going to the de la Vega house and he’ll make sure that Al will pay for Diego’s insolence. I believe he says something about taking away the de la Vega property. Apparently Monty wants it all—Diego’s woman and his land.

Diego takes Esme to the Bat Cave. Bernie is there, still in his Zorro outfit. Diego tells Esme that Bernie isn’t deaf, but everyone thinks he is and it’s a great way for him to gather information for Zorro. They all rehash what happened after Esme and Diego left the church. Diego tells Esme that there is a secret passage from the cave to his house. I think he also says something about passages to other houses in the area, did I hear that correctly? Diego tells Esme that he’s going to go find out how Al is doing, but he wants Esme to wait in the cave for him. Diego and Bernie come out from behind a bookcase inside the house. Diego takes the time to thank Bernie for what he did but asks him to never do anything like that again, it is too dangerous. Diego gives Bernie some clothes and asks him to go back to Esme and make sure she is comfortable.

SAM and soldiers arrive at the de la Vega’s. They’ve been ordered to surround the house to prevent anyone from entering aand possibly capture Diego if he returns. SAM orders the soldiers to act with decency because the de la Vegas are noble. One cocky soldier says why, isn’t Diego Zorro? SAM says that’s not true, we aren’t after Diego because he’s Zorro, we’re after him because he took Esme.

Tobi, still in his Zorro knock-off outfit, climbs in through the window to his place. He complains that his butt is sore. Cat asks him what’s going on and he tells her how he’s been mistaken for Zorro and how the soldiers were chasing him.

Dena shows up at Al’s house. She and Dolores rehash about the attempt on Al’s life. Diego is upstairs and hears the whole thing. Dolores tells Dena that the man was killed but before he was killed he told them that Monty was behind the whole thing.

In the Bat Cave, Bernie gives Esme the clothes and she asks for some privacy to change. She promises him that she won’t go to the house after Diego. After Bernie leaves, she starts thinking that Monty will probably come to the house with his soldiers. She decides she needs to go help Diego, so she says a little apology to Bernie on her way out. Esme comes out of the same bookcase as Diego and sets out to look for him.

Diego is now in Al’s room. Al is surprised to see him. The two rehash what happened in the prison. Al gets upset to hear how Diego was treated. Al—“Monty’s gone too far and taken advantage of my injured state”, but Al’s happy to see that they let Diego go. Diego tells him that he escaped and this surprises Al and leaves him to be worried (surprise face now switches to worried face, soon to be replaced with angry face). Angry now, Al says that he needs to protect Diego, for surely Monty isn’t too happy about Diego escaping, and by the way however did you manage that. Diego tells him some story about the guards, totally downplaying his amazing antics. Al is all fired up and asks Diego to get weapons, he’s going to turn the house into a fortress and keep Diego safe. Diego tells him that intelligence is their best weapon. Diego advises Al to not confront Monty. Diego can hide nearby and things can settle down a little before they go to action. Al goes on and tells Diego that someone tried to kill him and that Dolores said the man was only a thief, but Al believes there is more to the story. Dolores comes in at this point, she's happy to see Diego and hugs him. She tells the men that Monty’s soldiers have surrounded the house.

SAM is confronted by Dena when he enters the house. Esme overhears their exchange. Dena pulls out all of the stops….bringing up her brother’s name and how the de la Vegas are a respected family with close ties to the crown. SAM seems affected by all of this and possibly will back down except that Monty arrives. He orders his men to search the house. Dena blocks his way and tells him “over my dead body”. This brings a smile to Monty’s face. One of the soldiers roughs up Dena, knocking her to the floor, and Monty tells him, “Don’t you know that this is the governor’s sister.” He acts nice and helps Dena up from the floor. Dena continues to gt in Monty's weasel face and he tells her to not mess in his business. M-“Diego has humiliated me and now Al will have to pay.” Monty shouts orders out to his men and his voice carries throughout the house. They can hear him all the way up in Al’s room. Diego tells Al that he’ll go hide and he reminds his father to not have a confrontation with Monty.

Esme slips out of the house and back to the Bat Cave. She finds a gun that Bernie had and pockets it. She writes a note and then leaves.

Monty comes into Al’s room, followed closely by Dena. Al is “passed out” in his bed and Diego is no where to be seen. Dolores tells Monty that Al is recuperating and she goes on about all the harm he’s (Monty) has caused the family. Monty doesn’t like her insolence and raises his hand as if he’s going to hit her. Monty holds back and heads over to the armoire in the room. He opens it up and sees nothing. Dena says—“You can see that Diego is not here.” Monty says he’ll wait, “Diego has my wife and now I have his family, let’s see who wins.” Throughout this conversation Al keeps popping his eyes open to check on the action in the room, Monty apparently misses all of this.

Esme is shown outside in the forest, hiding behind a tree as some soldiers patrol nearby. She says to herself that she is not going to allow Diego and his family pay for the choices she’s made.

Monty’s left the room and Diego climbs out of the armoire, he was hiding behind a pile of blankets (and some fur coats, while he was in there he went for a little trip to the land that is always winter and never Christmas and met Mr. Tumnus, now if only he could defeat the White Witch and get Aslan's help with overthrowing Monty). Dena asks him about Esme and he assures her that Esme is in a safe place.

Nutty Nun/Sister Psycho/ Sister Suplicios goes to see Fernando at his home. She tells him that she came to deliver a note from Maria Pia. Fernando seems quite surprised. NN hands him a folded piece of paper.

Bernie comes into the house and finds Diego. He tells him that Esme left and shows him the letter she left behind. Diego reads the letter, more rehash of what’s happened, what Esme overheard in the house. Letter—“I’ll return to Monty so he doesn’t do anything to harm your family.” It goes on about how she loves Diego and will always remember his love, but she begs him to not to do anything , she’s going to take care of things. Bernie tells Diego that his pistol is missing as well.

Esme arrives at Monty’s home, she enters and pulls out the gun and points it right in Monty’s face. END OF EPISODE

Acorralada #45 Monday 3/19/07 Diana's baby is born!

Today's episode opens to the hospital scene where Diana tells Max to leave the room. Diego is unusually calm as he tells Max that he heard her, don't let the door hit you... Diana moans as another contraction starts and both Diego and Granny look concerned.

At Paco's bar, Gaby wants to know why Jorge called the baby F/G's nieto... F/G looks nervous as she claims that she doesn't know. Jorge makes some lame excuse and Paco says that F/G is too young and beautiful to be a grandma. *Whew! That was close!* Caramelo reminds them that they shouldn't waste time - they need to get to the hospital.

We return to Octavia's bedroom, where she's still wearing her disco queen pantsuit as she holds an ice pack to her forehead because her head is about to explode. O wants to know why Max is at the hospital with Diana, which is what FM wants to know. FM can't wait for Max to get home because he's got some 'splaining to do.

Isabella calls "Detective Ortiz" from Houston. Apparently being Marfil's personal assistant agrees with her - she's wearing a lovely purple dress that only needs one safety pin to keep it respectable. She's calling to check on the status of Diana Soriano. She gets Diana's address and promises to pass the information on to Sra. Marfil, and confirms that Max is still with the woman who's pretending to be Marfil. And then - the moment we've all been waiting for - real Marfil walks in! Isabella says that she's surprised every time she sees her. She's made a complete recovery! Marfil says that it took months of constant work. Now she's the same Marfil as before and she's ready to battle her twin!

Pancho and Max are at it again... Pancho's telling Max to go, Max is calling Pancho an imbecil. Ya basta!

It's time for Diana to push! Diego is holding her hand, Granny keeps touching the sides of her head like she's not sure what to do with her hands. Let's go, Diana! Push!

Back to Houston, where Isabelle tells Marfil what she's learned from Detective Ortiz. Diana is having the baby today, and they're not sure who the father is. Marfil tells Isabelle that she must get to Miami to stop her zorra of a sister. She has a plan to get revenge! *Now she sounds like F/G! * She's not going to just walk into the mansion and scream that she's the real Marfil, she has bigger plans than that. Her sister is going to jail, and not for stealing her identity - for stealing Diana's baby! Isabelle looks perplexed.

Diana's just about to deliver the baby when F/G and the crew arrive.

Max arrives home to be greeted by the chihuahua on crack. He thinks it's interesting that she has informants in the hospital, and tries to walk away from the crazy woman, but she grabs his arm and brings him back so she can screech in his face for a few. But he's not interested in what she has to say.

Real Marfil is sharing her evil plan with Isabelle. For months her sister has passed for her, and now she will pass for her sister! She'll kill two birds with one stone. Isabelle is impressed by her plan. *Does anyone notice that Isabelle has become a more feminine version of Bruna?* A little while after her sister is convicted, she will return as the real Marfil. Then she will be free to win back her husband's love.

The baby is born! A boy, of course. Diego has a sincere smile on his face - let's see how long it lasts! Granny runs out to tell F/G and the crew that the baby has arrived!

F/G can't believe that she has a grandson! She can't believe the how excited she is. Paco tells her that very soon her daughters will know that she is their mother. They'll be a real family!

Isabelle and real Marfil are about to board a plane for Miami. We're saved by the commercial break.

Dr. Evil is ready to leave the hospital, but he doesn't need a ride. Perfect, because Andres is waiting for a call from his wife. Marfil calls Andres and tells him to wait for him at Isabelle's apartment.

Diego is at Diana's bedside and it appears that his good mood is already fading. He's thought bubbling about how much he loves Diana, and how much jealousy he has that the child is not his. He would rather see her dead than back with Max! Enter Gaby and F/G, and instantly his mood is lifted. He tells them that she just fell asleep.

Disco music thumps as we return to the pool at psycho mansion, where Max is swimming laps. Luscious Larry walks up with his half tucked shirt and mentions that he didn't know that Max was home. Max is just swimming to try to forget about Marfil's hysterical greeting.

Dr. Evil opens his front door and almost trips over a pile of suitcases. On the sofa, Camila and Sylvia are sleeping off their hangover and jump up to yell surprise to greet him. Camila is wearing a red spandex halter and matching spandex pants. *If the outfit was blue and white, I'd swear that she borrowed it from one of the Dallas cowboy cheerleaders!* Since Emilio threw them out, and Ignacio has so much room, they thought they'd stay with him. After a heated debate, Ignacio agrees that they can stay for one night.

In Diana's hospital room, Caramelo tells her that when she sees Diana with her baby boy, it makes her want to have one with Pancho. *Caramelo, sweetie. Get a clue, already! Pancho's a playboy!* Diana says that she's so happy to have her son in her arms, and Diego's brooding as he thinks about evil Max. Diana offers to let him hold the baby (who apparently has not yet been named), but he declines, saying the baby is too small. Diana sulks, but quickly recovers as she passes the baby to F/G.

Diego wheels himself out the hallway to complain to his brother that he couldn't be in the room with Max's son for another minute. *What a weenie!*

We return to the pool where we get a nice look at Max's chest as Larry tells him not to get upset about the baby. Max doesn't know how he can do that.

FM is pacing and waiting for Bruna to arrive with the $5,000 she needs to pay off Andres, but the bank was closed! She stands in the middle of the living room shrieking that Max can't find out that she's not the real Marfil. Bruna tells her to go see Andres ***I'm not sure what she's telling FM to do here. Did anyone catch this?***

Meanwhile, the real Marfil and Isabelle have returned to Isabelle's apartment. Marfil will stay there a few days, no more. Now they're off to the hospital to steal Diana's baby!

F/G is at Diana's bedside when Gaby arrives. Sappy moment about how happy Diana is. Violins play in the background.

At psycho mansion, Max is surprised that FM is leaving so late at night. Marfil gives one of her typical snotty responses, to Yolanda's surprise. Max tells Yolanda that his marriage is dead.

Gaby tells Paco and Diego that she has to leave because she needs to work in the morning. She's not going to wait for Pancho or Granny, she can take the bus. Paco convinces her to take his car, he and F/G will take a taxi. As Gaby walks down the hallway, fidgeting with her dress because it almost shows some cleavage, Andres sees her and begins to follow her.

Back in Diana's room, Paco tells F/G that Gaby took the car. F/G says they should leave so that Diana can get some rest.

In the hospital garage, spooky music tells us that something muy malo is about to happen to sweet little Gaby. As she puts the key in the lock, Andres, who is sporting a ski mask again, grabs her from behind! She screams, but cannot get away from him! Break to commercial.

Diana and baby are sleeping peacefully when real Marfil sneaks into their room. She finally gets to meet the famous Diana and her bastard son.

Gaby is struggling with Andres, who removes her glasses and tries to kiss and grind up against her. They fall to the floor.

Real Marfil is holding the baby and telling him to say goodbye to his mother forever. Diana wakes just as they reach the door. Marfil freezes.

Gaby manages to get out of the clutches of Andres, then kicks him in the arm and runs off. *Isn't it funny how easy it is for this big, strong guy to get beat up by petite women?* He chases after her and punches her in the stomach and pulls her hair.

Diana asks Marfil what she's doing in her room, and why she has her son. Marfil says she's leaving with him, she's stealing him because Diana stole her husband. Diana screams and cries, but does not push that handy little button that will call a nurse.

F/G, Paco, and Diego hear Diana's cries and see Marfil running with the baby. F/G chases after Marfil as Paco and Diego go to Diana's room to calm her. Marfil is running down the steps with F/G hot on her heels.

Gaby and Andres are still struggling, but she manages to get away and makes it to the car and drive away.

Marfil is still running but loses her nerve and leaves the baby on the steps. F/G is there to save the day! Diana's doctor is trying to calm Diana when F/G walks in with the baby in her arms. F/G and Paco leave, and Max says that he is sure the Irazabals are behind the attempted kidnapping.

Larry and Max are having a little drinky in the living room and chatting with tia Yolanda when FM returns looking all out of sorts. Yolanda mentions that she looked nervous, which Max dismisses. He says she's nervous and strange.

FM is shrieking to Bruna that Andres didnt' show and she's afraid that he's going to expose her.

Poor Gaby's back home, and she's a mess. Her hair's disheveled and her dress is torn to shreds. She's crying so hard I can't understand a word she's saying. She's clawing at herself and coughing and looking like she's going to vomit as she turns on the shower.

Isabelle and real Marfil are back at Isabelle's apartment. Real Marfil is upset that her kidnapping attempt wasn't successful, but at least everyone saw her try. Isabelle admits that she was nervous.

Diana wants to keep the baby in her room, but the doctor refuses. She's weepy as she hands the baby over to the nurse. Diego is there to hold her hand and comfort her.

When Granny arrives at home, she finds Gaby curled up in a fetal position on the sofa, but she doesn't notice as she raves about the new baby. She hopes that the baby will bring much happiness... finally she notices that something's wrong with Gaby and asks her if she's okay. Gaby says it's nothing, so Granny continues to gush about the new baby. Finally Gaby tells her that she was violated at the hospital.

Diana is telling Diego that she's afraid Marfil will come back, but Diego promises her that he'll be there all night with her.

FM joins Yolanda, Larry, and Max in the living room to wait for dinner to be served. The doorbell rings and F/G storms in with an entourage of policemen following her. She accuses FM of trying to steal Diana's baby. Cut to commercial.

We return to the sala, where FM denies any involvement, but Paco says they were all there and they saw her. We're treated to some serious FM shrieking now. Bruna is trying to say there must be some confusion, but F/G is having none of it. Octavia hears Paco's voice and thought bubbles "that man. It's him! It's Paco, Paco..."

Meanwhile, Diana is resting peacefully while Diego thinks bitter thoughts about Max.

As FM is about to be arrested, her shrieks reach a pitch that can only be decibals away from a range that can only be heard by dogs. Bruna is begging Max to do something, but he's not falling for it. F/G is rambling about how they're not going to lie to her, as Octavia watches from afar, wondering why Paco is there in her living room with her worst enemy! F/G tells them all that this is the beginning of the end for the Irazabals!

Larry is confused and Bruna is beside herself with grief over her nina Marfil. Max is unresponsive.

Credits roll.

Mundo de Fieras 03/19/07 "I Believe Leo has Wings, The Darn Doc has Wings"

****Well this is it the downhill slide to the Gran Fin**** I want to thank everyone who read my recaps and everyone who left a comment. I really enjoyed doing this. I want to bid a fond farewell to Demian..Dude you are so hawt in a Darth Vader type way. Thanks to Demian I will never again have to read another internet news article regarding the shared intelligence quotients of identical twins. Yep you and Gabe solved that mystery...all things are not equal. Dolores you are a great person to have around & I hope you Nic Nye & Ti have some family bonding, maybe a trip to Disney World. JC & Paulina, jest sayin, good lord you two are annoying. Karen, I hope you end up with your step-brother Rog, while there is no actual blood relation, it has enough of the hint of kinkiness to keep you both happy for years. Miriam & Joselyn, knowing this is coming to an end, I got out of Polyester Animal Print futures. Now for the Nacos Leo, dude I saw more religious souvenirs on your person than I saw in the Mercado next to the Basilica, I know the truth Leo just wears that t-shirt, shirt and finally a jacket to cover up his wing stubs, this guy is no mortal. Elsa, I feel your pain. MA, really you been phonin it in since you found out the two choices you got for Galans. Cheers to you Ben El Raton, you'll go far in this business, your performance was flawless. You brought the Rat.

Now on to tonites show...where the truths come out.
We open with Demain smirking and setting all paperwork that would incriminate him in the construction debacle. He sets the papers on fire in a metal trashcan. Mexico how can you shed your third world image, if you can't even get shredders, did you learn nothing from Jeff Skilling and Kenny-Boy Lay? Demian is mocking Ti's love for him as the evidence goes up.

MA & Gabe thrilled to be in the same room and standing over the crib of lil Luis David, tempting fate, could life get any better mi amor? MA touches lil Luis David, he is freezing...time to rush off to the hospital.

Miriam is having a bad day at work, Ingrid rushes in "The Yankees is comin Miss Scarlett", not really but the same panic, they are broke, the business is bust no more credit nada, "Woe is me, Woe is me", what will we do, asks Ingrid. Miriam has no answers.

Dolores is visiting Ti in jail, they are standing very close, only the bars separate them. Ti vows he will see this through to the bitter end. He apoligizes to Dolores for being such an AssHat and refusing her mother's love. Dolores says he has nothing to be sorry for and she loves him and will always be there for him.
Nic comes in with a guard and says it is time to take Ti to the Big House, Dolores falls to her knees weeping, this sets Ti off and he is weeping too. She says she will always love him and he is always in her thoughts. Ti is over the edge and sobbing MaMa MaMa and the creepy cradle tinkeling music is playing. I'm all like for Gawd's sake man I've see "OZ" pull yourself together, they are just waiting for a guy like you down at Pen State.

St. Leo, I mean Doctor Leo, comes in and tells MA & Gabe that Luis David is doing better. I suspicion, with all the excitement of Luis David's lil family unit coming together, someone forgot to give him his Bimbo Cake and his blood sugar levels dropped to a near normal rate, and his body simply did not know how to react.

Meanwhile back over at the Evil Manse, (and this really was pretty creepy), Demain is lying in bed wearing his "Hugh Hefner" silk robe, he is talking to a picture of Regina, telling her all about the Ti thing, then he pulls back the covers and Regina's Red Hot nitie is laying on top of the sheets, Demian puts his reina's picture on the pillow and expresses words of love, then as if I wasn't already laughing hard enough; Demian asked Regina if she was cold. Demian proceeded to pull the covers up ever so gently tucking them in under her chin, I mean frame. Demian is all curled up around the pillow making small talk with Regina's Glamour Shot.

Next day, Karen, JC & Paulina go to the convent to try and find Paulina's real mom. The Nun in charge says yes Paulina's mother is there and she will be so happy to see Paulina. She has lamented giving Paulina up all these long years.

Joselyn goes to see Demian, she wants his help, I guess for the dead business or maybe to just whack MA, I lost track. Anyway, Demian lays the cards on the table, for him to help, she must first whack Gabe. Ewwwwwwwww Check, alas Joselyn es muy impacted. I mean I am not seeing this as a win-win situation, if Joselyn whacks Gabe, she would have no reason to live, her sole goal in life is making his life a living hell.

Now we go to the country where our young Romeo, Leo runs into (sorry I forgot her name..Eric Castillo's kid). Anyway our two youngsters are so happy to see each other, there is some very G rated flirting going on. All the sudden Crazy Pa, shows up with another guy, I guess one of his workers and the guy has a rifle. Pa is all in Leo face, he don't want none of that crazy science stuff like vaccinations goin on in his lil kingdom.

*****Well between this and Duelo, it appears that once you leave the greater Mexico City limits all civilization vanishes, science is viewed with suspicion and father's keep their daughters imprisoned*****

Over at Naco Acres, Syl is telling Elsa to pack her bags, cause it is clinic time...well that doesn't sit well with Elsa and she runs into the bedroom.

Joselyn tells Miriam that Demian wants her to commit x-husbandcide, Miriam is all like are you crazy? Geez, wasn't that already established like 120 episodes ago? Miriam, stop beating a dead horse. Miriam say this would not be a prudent idea as the cops are already suspicious of Joselyn, what with Karen and Dolores's allegations, plus nearly everyone Joselyn has ever known has ended up dead.

Syl goes into to find Elsa, I guess to see if she is correctly folding her clothes for the suitcase. It looks like she is in bed...NO it is a ruse, a pillow, Elsa has made her git-away out the window. Cut to Elsa walking down the street in her jammies not sure what to do or where to go.

Now back to the convent. There is a Nun, with literally one of the largest Rosaries I have ever seen around her neck. She of course is praying before the Virgin Mary, Paulina sneaks up behind her, the Ava Maria music starts, "Mama Mama", the Nun turns around and they are in each other arms. Wow, it is that Animal Planet thing again, she could pick Paulina out of thousands. Lots of "My Mama", "My Hija", to make a long story short, all happiness and rainbows, the Nun got pregnant when she was young, her parents didn't like her boyfriend...yadda yadda yadda all is forgiven.

Elsa has found a place of refuge she is drinking with the guy, I never remember his name, that she had sex with for alcohol and he used to work for Ti. They are having a grand ole time laughing and drinking. Honestly drunk or not, she never look this happy with Syl, like ever. Meanwhile Syl has run to tell Candelabra that Elsa has escaped. Now Candy knows that Elsa boinked that guy for booze, but not connecting the dots, she decided prayer is their best bet.
Hey maybe the prayer worked cause Leo calls home and Candy tells him Elsa is missing, so he flys back to Mexico City, maybe literally?

Okay now we have to deal with also BSC Eric Castillo & his lovely daughter, it seems her mother left Don Loco2, and he can't stand the thought of his daughter leaving too. Hey take a page from Duelos, don't you people have any caves you could stuff her in with a doobie smoking medicine lady for a couple of years? If his daughter leaves, he will Me Mato or kill himself.
The daughter thinks the Doctor has a Great Heart and is helping people. After she leaves the Papa smirks to himself and picks up a knife. (I hope he doesn't try to cut off Leo's Angel Buds).

Paulina's mother comes to the hospital to meet Gabe and a possibly awkward situation is all shades of happy, everyone is happy, and I guess there will be another plate at Christmas.

Joselyn goes into see Luis Gabrial, why I really can't imagine, but she is alarmed he is hot, Gabe bolts in the room and she tells him, the baby has a fever. It is off to Dr. Leo at the hospital.

Leo and Syl are combing the streets looking for Elsa, he gets the phone call from Gabe and rushes to the hospital. Syl will continue looking and Leo will go perform yet another miracle.

Elsa and guy I don't know his name are rollin around the floor, drinking and making out, he is sucking alcohol outta her navel and she is all giggling. He pours booze on her and is licking it off and then he pours it down her throat. Elsa starts having some half hearted convulsions and he is telling her to breathe, breathe. I don't know if the booze got into her lungs or if she has alcohol poisoning or maybe she is fakin it, so when he runs for help she can drink the whole thing.

Crazy Don Loco2, shows up at Leo's clinic, he takes the vaccines and breaks them, then proceeds to talk to a statue on Leo's desk, querying if the statue would like a vaccine.

Leo tells Joselyn, Gabe and MA, that the medical tests were inconclusive and further tests will have to be run on both boys.

Leo comes back with the results, he gives MA & Gabe the news that Da-Da-Da-Da....
Luis Gabe really belongs to MA & Luis David really belongs to Joselyn...Once again Gabe has his perplexed look of No Puede Ser....Just for fun I wish Leo woulda added and both boy's match my DNA...Bwwwwwahhhhhh just kiddin. Come on it woulda been great.

Acorralada #45 Friday 3/16/07 Labor Day

Larry is comforting Octavia as she reads the terrible newspaper article. Is it true? He asks. No, it’s yellow journalism. Larry apologizes for being a lazy himbo and playboy. He wants to make it up to mom. He wants to start working at the factory.

Emilio comes in to talk to Max about the article. He says everyone in the factory is reading it. Emilio wants Max to defend his mother, but Max doesn’t want to do anything At this moment I am not proud to be an Irascible, he says.

Diego, the hairy chipmunk, is back to his usual pastime when not making hideous paintings: nagging Diana about how she doesn’t love him and is thinking about the real father of her baby. Duh. She gives one of her bland blandishments. You are the baby’s father. Diego keeps talking about the Irascibles, and Diana asks him why he won’t stop. He says that would be like asking the sun not to come out or the earth not to spin. For fire not to burn. Don’t ask me not to think about him. I hate him because he is the father of your child and you love him. I hate him with all my fuerzas.

Yolanda and Deborah are sitting out by the pool. Deborah, as usual, is able to compartmentalize nicely. Although she is worried about being blackmailed by her real husband, she is busy slathering on the Hawaiian Tropic and sipping a Cosmo (or some kind of cocktail). No sense in having a pale look. Yolanda says she looks worried. Deborah says that Max hasn’t been interested in her in bed. Yolanda says she has to give it time (hasn’t it been nine months?) Deborah scoffs in her best shriekazoid voice. Yolanda warns her not to pressure Max. But he’s stuck on that disgraceful Diana. Yolanda tells Deborah that Diana’s not all bad—she just had the misfortune to love a married man. And it wasn’t her fault. We all thought you were dead. Deborah gets angry at her for taking Diana’s side. Yolanda says she’s just trying to be objective.

Cut to a scene of Diana massaging cream into Diego’s poor useless legs. Yuck. He wants to know why she’s so quiet. I am not thinking of anything. I am concentrating on the massage. No you’re not. He accuses her of thinking about Max. Diego why are you tormenting me? Because I’m a cripple living with a woman who doesn’t love me, he shouts. Diana, you just have pity for me. Don’t deny it. She shouts for him to leave her alone and she leaves the room. Now he calms down. I love you Diana. I love you so much, and it hurts to much at you don’t love me. I wish one day you could love me the way I love you. (Just keep up with the jealous outbursts. I’m sure that will work.)

Max is talking to O at the factory. I thought you weren’t coming in today. She looks very sick. He asks if she realizes there is a scandal. He goes back to suggesting that they return the factory to Gaviota. No. She hates me too much. He suggests she go to the country for a while, but she refuses, because she doesn’t want anyone to think she’s a coward. Then return everything you have stolen to the mother of Diana. She’s back to crowing about how she has tripled the empire. Max is dismissive. No one would deny it Mama, but you did it by stealing and selling someone up the river and stealing children. Shut up. She is worried about that piece of trash that wants to take her down.

Octavia works herself into a frenzy and collapses in a dead faint.

Bruno answers the phone at the mansion. Isn’t it interesting that whenever someone calls the Irascible mansion to speak to a particular character that one is always the one to pick up the phone? Hello, friend. It’s Andres. Always the punctilious overreacher, Bruno says that she has no friends of his class. He points out that she’s just a servant too. He goes on: I suppose Deborah told you that I called at the mansion two hours ago. Deborah is not here. Period. Nancy comes by the door and overhears her speaking about someone named “Deborah.” Andres tells Bruno that he will call back in a half hour and if Deborah is not there she can go to the devil. Don’t threaten me. Andres, don’t hang up. She spots Nancy. Nancy tries to act as if she didn’t hear anything.

Max is giving smelling salts to his mother. They lead her away.

Nancy heard her reference to Deborah. Bruno tells her do not dare repeat a word. She pinches her, and Nancy gives a grito. Why did you pinch me? To assure myself that you would obey. Keep your mouth shut, clear?

Max and Lala are putting Octavia to bed. Lala asks a nosy question, and Octavia asks her what business is it of hers. Lala is sent to bring tea. Octavia wants Max to call the newspaper to get them to retract the story. Max says ixnay.

Now here comes Granny DS. She is wearing a lovely new lime-green hat and a powder- blue poncho (the poncho goes well with Max’s powder blue sweater. I note that often Max’s outfits coordinate with Granny’s). When Octavia goes to prison, she can crochet similar ones using Martha Stewart patterns.

Granny DS tells O that O looks very upset. Are you seeing ghosts from the past? O tells her to get out. Granny says it is time for O to pay for her bad deeds. O continues to tell the old bat to get out (“largate”).

Deborah sidles in from the pool, and Bruno tells her that Andres is coming around. Deborah looks exasperated.

Granny M brings a nice big glass of milk to Diana, who is winding blue ribbon in the yard. She is very worried. I know that Diego wants to have his name for the baby, but I can’t allow it. Still, if Diego rejects my son, I will divorce him.

Lala offers O a pill for her nerves. O asks her if she poisoned the pills. Lala is shocked, but O asks why she should trust Lala—her son is married to her enemy. Okay. If you don’t want it don’t take it. O changes her mind and takes the pill anyway. Larry and Paola and Rene come in. Rene, the soul of tact, says that O doesn’t look so good, and Rene gives him a big elbow in the side. She then says something quite funny; I think it would be better if you “multiply times zero” (multiplicar por cero) and wait in the living room. This seems to be an idiom that means cut your losses, since you have already put your foot in your mouth, as multiplying by zero equals zero.

Now F/G is reading the scandal sheet. She is talking to an imaginary Octavia: How all your friends in your prestigious social circle will now start to talk about you. You rotten one, she says as she rips up the paper like a voodoo doll. Start paying now! Paco comes in. What are you doing? I am ripping up the photo of Octavia. How convenient. Paco has never seen Octavia, amazingly enough, so he now misses another chance to realize that Octavia is his old girlfriend Alicia. Why did you tear it up? He asks. So many years you have been talking about her, but I have never seen her. I was curious. I assure you that she is nothing extraordinary. Simply the face of evil.

Now Diana is getting up from her chair. Max is at the door. Max and Diana stare at each other. They vie for which has the more blank look. Except vie is too strong a word for their their passivity.

Caramelo is at home perusing folders for a possible college course. She wants to study computers. Pancho jokes that she is not smart enough, then he says she is very smart. He is going out without a shirt. She doesn’t want him doing that. Don’t put the horns on me, she warns. He tells her it’s a business meeting. She implores him to give up the contraband business. He could work in the bar with her Papa. He says, what, me be a waiter, no way.

Diana tells Max to get out. He doesn’t want to go without their talking. Granny M says that if Diego realizes he is there he will be furious. Diana tells Granny to go distract Diego. He says that he is sorry that Gaviota is teaching her to hate him. She says she didn’t need tutelage, she already hates him.

Now comes possibly my favorite part of the episode. He is showing his latest painting to Granny. It’s a ghoulish self-portraint of the giant chipmunk head in black and white, but he has brightened up his palette a bit by adding some brown. He asks Granny M if she likes it. I love her answer: Well, I don’t understand much about paintings, but I think it needs more color. He asks where his wife is. She says she’s cooking in the living room and helping her

Back at the mansion, Deborah comes into the bedroom. Andres is hiding behind the door and grabs her. What are you doing here? He reminds her that she didn’t call. How did you get in? A door is no impediment to me. Have you forgotten how we got in places when we were robbing people? Just then Granny DS comes by and asks who is this man and why is he in your room. Anyway, I know you are not the real Marfil.

Max is telling Diana that she cannot hate him. Why, don’t I have motives? (Sure, it’s that ugly yellow tie and turquoise shirt.) Our love is too big for that, he says. I don’t believe you hate me. Give me a chance . No, what you ask is impossible. I am expecting my husband’s baby. Now Pancho bursts in and catches them. What’s this? You’re cheating on my brother in his own house.

Granny DS, Deborah and Andres continue arguing over how Granny realizes she’s not the real Marfil.

Why have you come here to make problems. No, The problem is you are the my wife. Come here. When I am bad I am worse than you. She tries to run out of the room, but he wants his $5,000. She tries to tell him she will get it by tomorrow. Get out. Okay, I’ll go now, but I will come back at nine tonight.

Pancho says, this is the last straw. They continue shouting. Now Diego hears. Granny M tries to keep him from going in the room, but he wheels in. A good fight ensues between Max and Pancho. Pancho gives Max a head butt. Diego wants to fight from the wheelchair. Diana holds up her pregnancy belly. Max and Pancho go pitching over the couch.

Yolanda tries to get O to relax. Now O says she understands why Fedora defended Diana in the trial (except Fedora didn’t know then . . .oh, well). Now we have double the enemies who know the damage we did. What goes around comes around.

Paco and Gaviota are looking at pink baby booties. They are the ones that Fedora had for her own girls. She says this is all she has for her girls. He says that when she recovers her fortune, her new grandchild will lack for nothing. She actually says, Oh, I forgot I am going to be a grandma! Duh. Of course he tells her that she will be the prettiest grandma. Then she tells him they will all move to the mansion. He asks, don’t you want to continue to live here and sing at the bar? Won’t I see you every day? Of course, she says. (well we’ll see what happens when she finds out he slept with Octavia.)

The men are still fighting, but now Diana gives a big shout. She’s going into labor, of course. Max carries her out. Diego wants Pancho to find the car. At Hospital TeleMiami, Doc Evil is talking to the other doctor about how slow things are at the ER. Just then the nurse tells them there’s a woman in labor—it’s Diana Soriano. Cut to Granny M comforting Diana on the gurney. You are a nurse. Don’t be afraid. You have worked in this hospital (be afraid, be very afraid).

Max comes in. You shouldn’t be here, they tell him. Please, everything will be fine. Your child will be strong and healthy. It’s your son, Max, she thought-bubbles

Caramelo is picking up broken dishes after the fight. Gaby walks in and asks what happened, She hears the story and they run to the hospital.

At the hospital, Diego discovers that Max is in the labor room. There’s the expected back and forth.

Back at the mansion, Granny DS is playing with her dolls in a small outdoor playhouse. She is playing with her favorite doll, “Dianita.” Bruno and Deborah come in. They call her pathetic, then they actually grab the doll and pull its head off and pull out its stuffing. This is mean, even for them. They leave Granny crying. I suppose they want to warn her that’s what they will do to her if she spills the beans about Deborah.

Back in the bedroom., Bruno and Deaborah laugh hysterically. That was brilliant when you pulled the head off the doll, Bruno says. The phone rings. Doc Evil is calling. He is pleased to tell “Marfil” that her husband is over at the hospital with Diana, who is in labor. They are impactadas. Back at the hospital, the doctor says Diana has to decide who stays in the room: Diego or Max.

Octavia is still in bed with her headache and ice pack. Of course, she is glad to hear Deborah’s latest shrieking. (I almost feel sorry for O.) Deborah tells her that the nurse is giving birth, and Max is with her! No puede ser.

Caramelo comes to the bar with Gaby and they begin shouting for Gaviota. What’s all the hubbub. Diana is giving birth.

Jorge the bartender says, Congrats, Gaviota, you are going to be a grandmother. Oops. Gaby wonders what he’s talking about. Gaviota looks uncomfortable.

Back at the hospital, Diana is working her blank look while she decides who will stay with her. Granny pats her head where she is wearing a paper shower cap. Finally she utters the fateful words: Maximiliano, you go. I want Diego to stay. He is my husband and he has to be here. Max thought-bubbles: He is your husband, but I am the father of this baby. Tune in tomorrow!

Zorro- Friday March 16th, 2007: "Stop in the Name of Love"

Please forgive me for typos, it is really late and I've given it a read through once (usually the triple check works best for me) and that''s about all I've got for tonight.

Fernando is walking through the corridors of Callao prison. He finds what he is looking for and uses the keys to open up the door. He enters the room of Sara Kali, the paper mache masked woman. She’s back in the prison. Fernando apparently brings light with him because SK is reacting like the blind fish in the bottom of a cave river when spelunker comes in with an over head light. She grabs at her “iron” mask like it is hurting her, but I think with a couple of well placed pulls she could get the darn thing off. If you’ve ever hit a piñata then you know all it takes is hitting it in just the right spot and the whole thing breaks apart rather easily, but I digress…..
Fer-Mercedes, it is me.
Sara Kali—Who is it, using my Christian name?
Fer-Don’t you recognize my voice?
SK-Fernando?
Fer –It must be difficult for you to be closed up in her all alone in the darkness. But, your betrayal has a price.
SK—One I’m willing to pay to avenge the man I love.
Fer-You lied to me and carried another man’s child. You tried to pass the Gitano’s child as mine.
SK-I regret not completing my mission. (I don’t get this, but I think it is purposefully vague). Now my daughter is in the hands of a horrible man like you.
Fer—Yes, I’m horrible but you helped create that man. Remember, when I thought love no longer existed for me you arrived with beautiful words. I opened the door to my heart and put it in your hands and you deceived me.
SK- If I relived it, I’d do it again. (yes, that’s what reliving it means…so I’m thinking it is an idiomatic expression like—if I had to do it all over again, I’d do the same thing.)
Fer—After you deceived me, after you had me believe that Esmeralda was my daughter you wanted to go before the king, the Spanish Crown. (again, purposefully vague).
SK—I represent something great.Fer—Yes, very great but it’s your lies and betrayal that I’m’ making you pay for here.
SK--I beg you, if you have any compassion let me see my daughter.
Fer-Never, I will never permit you to see Esme. She represents to me shame. She’ll never know her mother is alive (ah, but she does). So here you will stay, ruler of the Gitanos. Mercedes, or Sara Kali.
Fer leaves and locks her back into her cell. He departs with a nasty “Adios”. For all of the male viewers out there, the camera people got a great shot of Sara Kali’s heaving chest because her jail bird outfit is quite revealing. Sara’s angry and she swears that she’s going to make Fernando pay for all the suffering he has caused her daughter and her, even if she is stuck in the prison for a long time.

At Casa de de la Vega Dolores tells Almudena to go and be with Esme. Dolores says that between her and Yumali, they will make sure that Alejandro will be well cared for. The two women rehash what has happened with Al’s injury and Yumi to blame. They go over what’s happened to Diego and the fact that Esme is going to marry Montero. Dolores is really upset thinking of what they could possibly be doing to Diego in the prison.

BUT, Diego isn’t in the prison. Right now he is in the gypsy camp having his wounds cleaned. Jonas and Diego rehash how Monty set Diego up and how Diego got out of the prison. Diego says he had to get out to save Esme before she marries Monty. Renzo hears this and is visibly upset. Jonas offers Diego the gypsies help and friendship. They will stop the wedding. But before they do that, Jonas wants to know if Diego was able to find out where Montero moved Sara Kali. Diego hasn’t had time to find out for sure, but now is not the time to worry about this, he’s got to make saving Esme his priority.

Mariangel and Catalina rehash the whole Montero’s Diego is Zorro plot. Mariangel tells Cat that Diego is her priority and after Monty and Esme wed she’ll take care of Monty but now all she wants is to get rid of Esme.

Esme has a dream of Diego as Zorro sneaking into her room. They declare their love for each other. She wakes up. Dena comes in and helps Esme get ready for the wedding. Esme says that it is the saddest day of her life but she needs to do this to save Diego. MA comes into the room to get the women to hurry up. She adds that it is a pity that the two women will be separated once Esme goes to live with Monty. They get MA to leave. Once alone, Dena tries to talk Esme out of marrying Monty. She says that there has got to be another way to get out of their problems. Esme—Mariangel is right, all that is happening to Diego is my fault and I have to suffer the consequences. Dena tells her to not let Monty touch her, to stay far away from him. Esme makes Dena promise that she’ll take care of Al and that as soon as she can, Dena must leave Fernando’s house.

Fer goes to see Monty. He returns the account records because Monty brought Sara Kali back to Callao prison. Fer mentions that he noticed that Monty has stockpiled a fortune. Fer is glad that his daughter will be marrying a man of wealth and power. Monty comments that money and power are what is most important in life. Fer says it is odd that a man just hours away from marrying does not include love in what is most important. Monty amends his statement, but it rings hollow. Fer goes on to ask Monty if he has his dignity restored now that the marriage with Esme has the green light. Monty—No, not until Esme takes her vows inside the church.

Al is talking to Yumi. He asks her to forget her revenge against Fernando (we’ve been down this road before). Al tells Yumi that she’s got skills (flash to Napoleon Dynamite) She can talk to the animals (flash to Doctor Dolittle) and she has life in her hands. Al says he can understand how she feels, he thinks it is similar to what he felt when his wife, Regina, was killed.

In the prison, Pizarro receives a report from one of his soldiers. They haven’t caught Diego yet, but they have the de la Vega home surrounded in case he were to return there. Pizarro asks if someone has been dispatched to take care of Alejandro. He’s told yes, that task will be accomplished. Pizarro takes out a map to chart Diego’s last sighting. He knows that Diego is on foot and surmises that Diego would probably go to the gypsy camp. After all, Diego works as a lawyer for the gypsies. He orders a battalion to search their camp.

Jonas and Azucena (previously called gypsy man and woman, but now I know their names) are riding into town in an open wagon filled with hay. They talk about how no one will suspect the gypsies (for what? I don’t know, I guess we’ll find out).

Mariangel, Dena, Fernando, and Esme are leaving the house and Olmos tells Esme that she is the prettiest bride. Esme says “and the saddest”. Fer—Sometimes our destiny isn’t what we expect, but still we have to face it”. Esme- “I’m marrying Montero because of your ambition and lack of love for me”. MA tells Esme to smile, now she won’t be just a widow. Dena tells her “ENOUGH!!” Esme—“Let her speak. She’s won. She’s going to be rid of me”. Fer—“Let’s end this discussion”. MA goes on to blame Esme for what has happened to Diego. Fernando reminds her that they all are to blame. They get into the carriage and start heading to the church.

Yumi leaves Al sleeping to go get something. A man enters the room from the window. He picks up a pillow and starts to smother Al with it. A weakened Al can offer only a weak resistance. Yumi, heading down the stairs, senses death has come to visit the house. She turns around and comes into the room. She grabs a log from the fireplace and knocks out the assassin. She ties him up with the curtain cord and goes to revive Al. He’s still breathing and Yumi kisses his cheek. She returns to her captive and demands he tell her why he was trying to kill Al, if he won’t talk she’ll kill him. Al says weakly, “Don’t do it Yumi.”

Soldiers are now setting up road blocks into the city. The bridal party gets stopped. Fernando asks what’s going on, one soldier says we can’t tell, but another says since you’re the governor we can tell you what little we know. Diego escaped. Esme overhears and wants to know if Diego is OK. Soldier-We don’t know, but we will find him. The governor’s carriage is allowed to enter the town and Esme notices Jonas and Azucena’s cart. Their cart is also getting stopped by the soldiers. The soldiers ask the gypsies why they are coming into town. They tell him to offer a celebration for the Comander’s wedding. The soldiers question the cart full of hay and Azucena says it is going to be used as part of their celebration. The soldiers take out their swords and start poking into the hay. They find nothing and allow the gypsies’ wagon to move along. Azu and Jonas are happy that Diego was able to escape, but as they get further away Diego let’s them know that he’s still there, he was able to hide below the loose boards in the wagon’s cart.

Esme tells the carriage driver to stop. MA makes a snide comment about a repeat of what happened at Esme’s first wedding (from the first episode). Esme wonders why she should marry Monty if Diego escaped, she only agreed to save Diego, so now what’s the point. Fer tells her to not even think about it, she was already married to Monty by the judge. E-“I was forced to do that and you know it.” Fer—“Monty will arrest Diego again and with him a fugitive the law will be on Monty’s side He’ll have Diego killed for sure. Monty is capable of doing this, believe me.” MA-“ Keep messing with Monty and getting him angry, you’ll end up with blood on your hands, Esme.” Esme pleads with Fer—“I know you won’t do this for me, but do it for your best friend.” Fer—“I gave my word again to Monty, so obey your father.” Esme-“A father who doesn’t want me to be happy, you doubt even care.” Fer-“You’ll never learn, why can’t you be decent like your sister?” Dena doesn’t like this and she and Fer exchange some words. She tells Fer that they’ve treated Esme quite terribly. Esme tells her not to bother, she doesn’t want Dena getting into any trouble because of her. Esme turns to Fer and says that if anything happens to Diego, she swears that she will not marry Monty.

Monty and Pizarro rehash. Pizarro suggests that someone must be helping Diego. Monty-“Who, his father? He’s probably dead. Diego is a coward, only someone full of disgrace would escape my prison covered in grease, he’s probably hiding in the mountain caves.” Pizarro-“We’ve got men looking for him, road blocks set up. It is only a matter of time.” Monty-“We don’t have time!! If Esme finds out that Diego escaped, she won’t marry me. Capture him Pizarro, and I’ll give you the joy of killing him.” Sickening, but the idea of this seems to please Pizarro---there was a trace of a smile. Monty goes on---“Diego will be forgotten and then we’ll take all his property.”

Yumi tries to force the assassin to talk. She takes him outside and gets some of Al’s men to surround the guy with wood. The man is not struggling the least bit, perhaps he’s still dazed from being conked on the head. Inside and upstairs, Dolores catches Al trying to get out of bed. He brings her up to speed on what’s happened. Al-“We’ve got to stop Yumali from killing him.” Dolores tells Al to rest because he is weak. She’ll go find out what’s going on, don’t worry. Al listens to her and gets back into the bed.

SAM gets the soldiers to spread out into the plaza outside the church. The bridal carriage arrives right after some gypsies start to celebrate. Esme exchanges a look with Renzo—stopping him from reacting to her arrival. Esme tells Fer that she needs to get some assurance from Monty that Diego is OK. She runs into the church. Fer doesn’t like this. Dena tells him that Esme is sacrificing herself to save Diego, she deserves to find out if her efforts will be in vain. Fer says he’ll give her five minutes and then he needs to get out of there (obviously the gypsies are making him uncomfortable). Mariangel makes a snarky comment about how she is really going to miss her sister’s weddings and these odd moments that seem to occur.

Inside the church Esme confronts Monty. She tells him that she knows that Diego escaped. Monty tells her that if she came to cancel the wedding, she’s going to pay dearly. He admits that Diego escaped and when his men catch Diego, he’ll die. E-“Promise me that if I marry you, your men will leave Diego in peace. What guarantee will you give me?” Monty-“None, unfortunately none.” (At least he’s honest.) They continue to have a discussion about how Esme’s relationship with Fernando will raise Montero’s status in the town. Esme-“I can still say no at the alter even though I signed the judge’s papers. It will make you look like a fool in the eyes of the town.” Monty—“Diego escaped from the prison.” Esme-“You know that he’s not Zorro, the charges are false.” Monty-“No one will kill Diego, as long as he doesn’t do something stupid, then my men will have to kill him.”

Outside the gypsy crowd has gotten bigger, many of them are wearing masks. Diego is amongst them, hidden behind a black mask with ribbons. Renzo is complaining to one of the women that he does not like this plan. Renzo grumbles that Esme is marrying Montero, the murderer, because of Diego. This means that Diego is more important to Esme than anything else. Diego wonders to Jonas where did Esme go? He is told that she went inside the church. There is speculation that Montero will not allow Esme to stand him up at the altar. Jonas warns Diego to keep a low profile. Diego— ‘Montero thinks I’m hiding, he has no idea that I’m outside the church where he’ll wed.” Jonas and Diego go over there plan (not in too much detail, the writers don’t want to tip their hand to the audience). Something is mentioned about having horses ready and waiting and the element of surprise being on their side. Diego wants to enter the church alone, but Jonas tells him to take Renzo with him. As they are heading to the church they get stopped by a group of soldiers.

Esme comes out of the church. She says-“Very well, let’s get on with this farce.” Fer and Esme exchange some words about how he doesn’t respect her. They finish this verbal spar and head into the church.

The soldiers want to know where the gypsies are going. A female gypsy (the wife of that client of Diego’s from the first episode) tells them that they have the rose petals to throw at the newlyweds. The soldiers want to know why they are wearing masks. She tells them that it is all part of the festivities. The soldiers demand that they take off their masks, and they address that request to Diego. Renzo takes off his mask and the soldiers recognize him from when he was being held in the prison. They laugh and say that Renzo was used as bait to catch Zorro. Renzo goes along with the soldiers and Diego slips away. Just outside the church doors he runs into a man cloaked head to toe in a brown hooded cloak. The man says he’s there on a pilgrimage and it looking for a place to stay. Diego and the man talk some more and the man says that “God gives us light when we least expect it.”

Flash to the Bat Cave. Bernardo is dressing as Zorro. He’s even got the little goatee. He swishes his cape and looks pretty convincing. I’m impressed.

Flash to Tobias dressed in his Zorro outfit. He’s painted his horse black and Tobi starts to swish his sword around and ends up scaring the horse. Finally Tobi mounts the horse, but the horse refuses to move. I'm not impressed in the slightest.

Yumi has a torch and is going to start the logs on fire. The man says he was there to steal. Yumi doesn’t believe him. Dolores comes out of the house and tells Yumi to stop. She asks the man some questions, and he won’t answer. Dolores grabs a chair and tells Yumi to continue with what she was doing. The man starts to talk. The women demand to know who sent him to kill Al. The man finally cracks when Yumi sets a log ablaze. He tells them that it was Cmdr. Montero. Just then, the man gets shot in the back by an unknown assailant wearing a huge sombrero and a poncho. The assailant rides away. Dolores tells the man that he better not die, he’s all they’ve got to prove that Monty is up to no good. Too bad, the man dies.

Inside the church, Fer hands over Esme to Monty. She looks like the most miserable bride I’ve ever seen. Padre Tomas starts the ceremony. He gives a speech about love and liberty in order to get God’s blessing for marriage. Monty asks Esme if she has anything to say. She doesn’t. Padre Tom goes on in Latin. Catalina makes eyes at Pizarro, he seems disgusted. Dena starts to cry. A cloaked man enters the church during the “Our Father.”

Bernie rides into town as Zorro. So does Tobias. One looks graceful, powerful and dignified. The other has his horse barely under control and it is moving backward and the black paint is being rubbed off. I’ll let you figure out which one is which.

Maria Pia goes to see Nutty Nun/Sister Psycho. NN is praying and tells MP that she is in the middle of her penance, one she got from the Cardinal all because of Maria Pia’s lies. Maria Pia tells NN that she wants to tell her the truth about what happened the other night, what all happened with Fer and why. She tells her, but NN does not believe her. NN goes on and starts telling MP what happened to her, it wasn’t her brother that she slept with, it was her step father. She feels that she provoked him into doing it, just as she suspects that Maria Pia has provoked the governor. NN goes on to say that she has heard the voice of God and he told her that she is the chosen one. So she takes that to mean that she must not allow MP to become the convent’s Mother Superior. NN tells MP that she’ll destroy her first before she’ll let that happen. NN says she won’t let evil take over Maria Pia.

In the church, Padre Tom gets to the part of the ceremony where he asks if there are any objections to these two being united in holy matrimony and from the back of the church the hooded man says, “I object”. The camera cuts to various shots of the different people turning around to see who said this. And here is where my tape ended. I don’t know if Telemundo ran the show even longer, but it seems like a good spot to end the show, so I suspect I didn’t miss much.
