La Fuerza del Destino #6 Tue 08/09/11

Ivan is standing over the dead body of his mother, Alicia. He tells her that she should have told him that she was pregnant. He would have worked and taken care of them both. Celia says Alicia never even told her that she was pregnant. Ivan thinks that it was JJ. He runs out with Celia chasing after him yelling out "No!". Celia tries to tell him, but Ivan does not want to hear it. Leandro points out Ivan to his buddy and says they will follow him when the old woman leaves. Leandro snaps his fingers for more men to help beat up Ivan. Celia yells out again to Ivan that he has it all wrong, but Ivan swears to kill JJ. The bad guys go after Ivan.

Celia goes back to Alicia and pulls the blanket over her. She prays for Ivan's safety. Ivan is walking down the street crying when Leandro calls out his name and says he is bringing him a message. A guy comes up from behind Ivan and hits him with a stick. Another man kicks him in the face and it is a total of 3 guys beating Ivan while he is on the ground. Leandro lights a cigar and enjoys the scene. Antolin and Camilo come across the beating. Camilo runs to see what's going on and Antolin pulls out a knife. Antolin runs up behind one man and stabs him in the back. He pulls the knife out and shows it to Leandro. Camilo punches a man in the stomach. Leandro calls off the attack. Camilo rolls Ivan over and we see a awful bloody face. Antolin and Camilo determine that the bad men where the workers from the Socorro ranch. They pick him up and take him home.

Camilo yells at Antolin for stabbing one of the guys. "What if he dies" questions Camilo. Antolin says we'll just blame Ivan. Celia comes in upset and does not know what else to do. Silvestre comes in and see how upset Celia is and asks what's wrong.

Carlota asks Lucrecia how could she have kicked out Ivan from the house? Because of what he did. What about Alicia asks Carlota. I'll fire her says Lucrecia. What if she talks and says she is the illegitimate child of your father and creates a scandal. What then asks Carlota. Then I'll tell her to keep her mouth shut or I'll put her son in jail for rape replies Lucrecia. Gerardo comes in and asks Lucrecia what happened with Ivan. Lucrecia plays stupid and says it was probably his decision and she is happy about it. Gerardo asks about Alicia. Well she's also going to have to leave. Or do you think it is okay for her to stay after what her son did? Gerardo points out that Alicia did nothing wrong. Lucrecia says perhaps Alicia pushed her son onto Maripaz. Carlota tells Lucrecia to quit talking stupidly. She says perhaps Maripaz is the one that seduced Ivan. She is a little flirt. Lucrecia yells at her mom not to talk about her daughter that way. She was the victim. And storms out of the room. Carlota tells Gerardo that Ivan is the only one not at fault here.

Back at Celia's the doctor tells her that Ivan has suffered a skull fracture. The best thing is to take him to the hospital. He also has a fractured nose and perhaps ribs. And the lady he will he will issue a death certificate for massive hemorrhaging due to an abortion. The doctor asks the boys if they know who beat up Ivan. Antolin lies and says they think it was a band of thugs. Camilo turns away in disbelief at his brother's lie.

Lucrecia is on the phone with Leandro and asks if Ivan is dead. Leandro does not know but says when they left he was not moving. Lucrecia hopes that Ivan is dead. Leandro says the one of his mates suffered a stab wound from one of the guys that came to Ivan's aide and will probably die. If she wants they can say Ivan did it. Lucrecia says she does not know and will think about it. She lets Leandro know that she will be leaving the city for a couple of days, but wants to be kept informed of Ivan and the stabbed victim's condition.

Camilo and Antolin go to see how Ivan is. Antolin says that perhaps Ivan will also die. Camilo tells him not to say that and asks if he is sure that it was the ranch hands from Socorro. Yes, replies Antolin. Plus mom said that Lucrecia kicked out Ivan from the house because he was kicking it with her daughter. Seems to me that her mother sent those guys to teach him a lesson. Could be replies Camilo. Ivan was always infatuated with her.

Silvestre and Celia are standing over Alicia. He says at least she left before finding out what happened to her son. Do you know who the father was? Sr. Gerardo replies Celia. They have been together for a long time. She says he loved her a lot, but she did not want anyone to know. Well we have to take care of her burial and that will be quite a bit of money. But no matter, it will be done. And it is best to take Ivan to the hospital before he gets worse. Celia asks Silvestre not to tell the boys about what she said regarding Sr. Gerardo. He assures her he will not.

Carlota tells Lucrecia that she has told the girls to start packing. Lucrecia asks Carlota when is Alicia suppose to return? Probably Monday or Tuesday. Make sure you give her her severance pay and tell her that I will keep paying for Ivan's schooling. Fine replies Lucrecia. I'm going to go and pack a couple of things.

Gerardo informs Lucrecia that he plans to file for divorce. She starts insulting him, but that does not sway him. She says if he goes though with it, he will never see his daughters again. He says let's do things like civilized people. She asks him to wait awhile then. He says no. Since she is leaving then he plans to go to Mexico City, sell his parents house and set up a business. She finally says she does not care and storms off.

Lucrecia scolls Maripaz for not eating a proper breakfast. Lucia says a tearful goodbye to Pepo. Gerardo asks Carlota to take care of his daughters.

Silvestre, Camilo and Antolin go to the hospital and ask the doctor how Ivan is doing. The doctor informs them that Ivan did wake up, but because he was agitated they gave him a sedative to relax him. He suffered no skull fracture and only bruised 3 ribs. Antolin wants to know if he can go home because today is him mothers burial. The doctor says he can not even get out of bed and they want to keep him for a couple of days for observation. Silvestre wants to visit, but it is not visiting time. They promise to come back later.

A few people are at the burial of Alicia. Celia throws a white rose into the grave.

Lucrecia and party check into a hotel in Guaymas, Sonora. Lucia is excited seeing the beach, but Maripaz has to rain on her parade. Reminding her there not their as tourists. Lucrecia says she is going to find a house to rent so they do not waste money on a hotel.

Silvestre asks his sons if they are sure that the men that jumped Ivan were ranch hands from Socorro. Of course, replies Antolin. Perhaps Lucrecia or Gerardo sent those men because of what happened to Maripaz. Antolin asks who the father of Alicia's baby was. Celia lies and says Alicia died before telling her. If she had told her, then perhaps she could have talked her out of it.

The doctor tells Camilo and Antolin that Ivan is terribly confused about the fight due to the head injury.

Ivan is still clutching his mother's cross. He kisses it. Camilo and Antolin come to visit. Camilo asks how he is faring and Ivan says he hurts all over. Antolin says they beat you up pretty badly. I noticed the ranch hands from Socorro and Leandro. Did you not notice him? Yes, replies Ivan. But I am extremely confused. And my mother? Camilo says they buried her yesterday. Do not cry. There is nothing else you can do for her. Except pray replies Antolin. All because of JJ says Ivan. You think he got her pregnant asks Antolin. Yes, replies Ivan. I swear that he will pay. Antolin tells him there are more things to worry about. He stabbed one of the workers and perhaps he is dead now. I only defended myself says Ivan. They attacked me. Perhaps replies Antolin, but you stabbed him. Camilo gives Antolin a dirty look. Stabbed him says Ivan. But I do not ever walk around with a knife. Perhaps the guy had one and you took it from him says Antolin. It can not be says Ivan. You need to think about what to do says Antolin. If they get you, your fried. Camilo is pissed.

Camilo asks Antolin why would he do that? Because I do not want to go to jail. I helped your friend out in the fight. If he gets sent to jail, I know people who would take care of him. You have to be with me on this, okay brother?

Camilo goes to Casa Del Curiel to get Ivan's things and the dog. Gerardo sees him and comes out. Who are you asks Gerardo? I am Camilo, Ivan's friend. My mother is Ivan's godmother. Gerardo asks when Alicia will be returning from her trip with your mother. Camilo is confused and says that his mother and Alicia never went on a trip. Alicia is dead and buried. Gerardo gets upset and asks what happened? Was it an accident? Please tell me. Camilo says she died after getting an abortion. She was pregnant.

Antolin goes to see Leandro. Leandro wants to know if Ivan is dead yet. No replies Antolin. Leandro says do not think I did not see you stab that kid. Heh, it was not me, it was Ivan. Did the kid die? He is almost there replies Leandro. So let's say it was me says Antolin. Are you going to rat me out? Perhaps says Leandro. Well if you do, I'm going to squeal on your bosses says Antolin. Because I know you did not do it for any other reason. Leandro tells him not to threaten him. Antolin says let's make a deal. It is obvious someone wants Ivan gone. What if I convinced him to leave and move far, far away. Leandro says not a bad idea. If you can not convince Ivan, then I kill him and you.

Gerardo says why did not see tell me? Camilo says it gets worse. Some guys grab Ivan and beat him up. They left him for dead. It was some guys from Socorro. How is he asks Gerardo? What do you think asks Camilo. In bad condition from his mother's death and the beating he received. What hospital is he at asks Gerardo. Why would I tell you that says Camilo. I do not want you to send your men to kill him. You think that I gave the orders asks Gerardo. Well you never know replies Camilo. But like I told you it was some of your ranch hands. Cleto interrupts and brings Camilo the dog. Gerardo leaves and Cleto says I'll bring Ivan's things to you. Camilo looks at Gerardo like "What's up with that dude?" Gerardo is in the garden and wonders why she did it. She should have confided in him. My love. I can not believe it. I would have told you I would have divorced her. We could have been so happy raising our child. Why did you do it?

Celia tells Ivan that so many unpleasant things have happened to him, but thank god he's alive. Ivan agrees, but not my mother. She died and I could do nothing to stop it. There was nothing you could have done. Don't blame yourself says Celia. If I had known, I would never have left her alone replies Ivan. She must have been so terrified. Just think that she is resting peacefully now says Celia. That that be your comfort. I will when JJ pays for what he did says Ivan. Because I know it was him. And again he left her alone. She had no other choice. Celia tells him that no one knows what actually happened. Ivan asks if his mother ever told her anything. No replies Celia. Ivan tells her once he leaves the hospital, he will look for a room to rent quickly. Celia says not to worry about it. She says Camilo told her that the men who beat him up where men from the Socorro ranch. What did they have against you? I think they had orders from Dona Lucrecia says Ivan. Why asks Celia? I'm going to tell you, but swear you will never tell anyone says Ivan. Of course replies Celia. Ivan says he believed that Maripaz was in love with him. And he was crazy for her. They started going out. She told him that she was taking birth control pills and of course, she became pregnant. She wanted to abort. I told her no. And so I talk to her mother and asked to marry her daughter. She got upset and told me to disappear from their lives forever. She has always hated me. We poor people are nothing to them says Celia. Why did you get with her daughter? I couldn't help it replies Ivan. Look how things turned out. I told Maripaz I would not let her abort and my mother.... Celia tells him to cry out all his pain.

Gerardo goes to visit his family. Lucrecia tells Carlota that she looked at houses ,but they are quite expensive. It would have been better if she had aborted. Carlota tells her that she never wants to hear her say that again. There's a knock on the door ,and it's Gerardo. Lucrecia rudely asks what he is doing here? He asks Lucrecia why she sent men to beat up Ivan? Me? Are you crazy yells Lucrecia. The crazy one is you says Gerardo. They were ranch hands. I'm sure you paid Leandro to do it. Fine! I did it confesses Lucrecia. Because he threaten to tell everyone that he impregnated Maripaz. They left him half dead! yells Gerardo. Well I wish he were says Lucrecia. Carlota can not believe her ears. Lucrecia says that Ivan stabbed one of the men. Gerardo says probably to defend himself. Lucrecia informs them that if the worker dies, she will press charges against Ivan. Gerardo informs her she will do no such thing. You have done enough damage. And he didn't do us any damage yells Lucrecia. Shut up yells Gerardo. I am so tired of your insensitivity. Your meanness. If you try to do any more damage to that boy, the one pressing charges will be me. Excuse me, Carlota. Gerardo leaves the room while I applaud him for finally growing a set or taking them back from Lucrecia has been hiding them. Lucrecia tries to get mom on her side, but Carlota says I see that your an idiot. I see your hatred for Alicia and Ivan is not so much for what he did, but that Alicia is your half sister. But the truth is she is not your half sister. Ivan and Alicia are true blood offsprings of Teodoro's. But you do not. What are you saying asks Lucrecia? That I was pregnant with another when I married Teodoro says Carlota. Carlota pats Lucrecia's hand and says she's going for the girls. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! How do you like them apples?

Camilo tells Ivan that he went to get his things and the dog. Ivan asks if he saw Maripaz. Camilo informs him that the girls went off to school in the states. The only person I saw was Sr. Gerardo. When I told him what happened to you he was surprised/shocked. It appeared to me that he had nothing to do with what happened. It also hurt him very much to hear about your mother. He was always good to us, replies Ivan. Are you sure Maripaz left? That is what Sr. Gerardo told me replies Camilo.

Carlota comes back into the room that she is sharing with Lucrecia and tells her that Maripaz looks really sad. Lucrecia really does not care after what she did and says she wants to know the real story. Carlota says she had a boyfriend who left her when he found out she was pregnant. Teodoro was a dear friend and offered to marry her. He recognized and raised her like his own. Yes, but he cheated on you and had a child of his own with another woman says Lucrecia. Carlota says she is not in the mood for her sarcasm today. At least she didn't think about hiring someone to beat up a kid to leave him dead. Because that was your intention, right? Yes, it still is replies Lucrecia. Don't you dare, seriously replies Carlota.

Gerardo goes to visit Celia, but finds Antolin instead. Antolin tells him he can wait for her. Gerardo says he wanted to talk to Celia about what happened to Ivan. He had nothing to do with it. I truly liked him. Believe me. I know that one of the ranch hands suffered a stab wound. Antolin instantly goes on defense and says he had nothing to do with it. It was Ivan. I know says Gerardo. I was told of it already. Are you going to press charges asks Antolin. I'm not replies Gerardo. But I have no idea what my wife will do . Here is some money for him. I have Alicia's severance pay and some extra for Ivan. Tell him to leave and go far away. I know he will be alone, but he'll have something to continue his studies. He has a brilliant future. Can you give him this for me, please. Of course, replies Antolin. Greedy Antolin will probably keep most of it.

Gerardo goes to the Alicia's grave. He asks her to forgive him. He packs his things. He gives Gloria and Cleto some money to tide things over until Lucrecia comes back in a few days. What about Alicia asks Gloria. Gerardo tells them that Ivan and Alicia will not be returning.

Antolin lies to Camilo and says that Gerardo left a little money for Ivan to leave. The ranch worker died. It's best to convince Ivan to leave. Camilo doesn't think it's fair. Antolin says it's either Ivan or him. Camilo decides to go along with the lie.

Lucrecia has rented a house for Carlota and the girls. Maripaz is not happy. Lucrecia walks in and instantly sees dust everywhere. The cleaning lady/maid introduces herself and Lucrecia lays into her for not cleaning. She says she just got hired, but will start right now. Lucrecia tells her to first help with the luggage.

Camilo tells Antolin that he will be the one to talk to Ivan about leaving. Antolin says fine, but not to say that Gerardo gave him the money. He's going to say that he came up with the money. Camilo asks why, but Antolin says just go with it.

Ivan is up and walking around. Antolin and Camilo come in. Ivan tells them that the doctor says he can leave in a couple of days, but he has no idea how he's going to pay the hospital. Antolin comes to the rescue! He pulls out cash and says he has the money to pay for it all and enough to get him to the other side. Other side asks Ivan. Yes, you have to leave says Antolin. Otherwise you will go to jail.

Tomorrow: Ivan visits his mom's grave and he leaves town.

Teresa Mon 8/8/11 #111 Aida Unchained: Nothing Beats Kicking Your Worst Enemy When She’s Down—Especially If She’s Totally Paralyzed

Viewerville can now say without a doubt that Rubigote’s daughter definitely comes by her disgusting lack of character honestly.  In fact, all of Viewerville began looking for a mustache above that pouting upper lip of hers before it was all over.

As we begin the Monday sojourn back to Mexico, Arturo is desperate for Mariano to tell him the truth about Teresa’s prognosis.  Is there a good possibility she’ll be left a quadriplegic or not? Mariano first wants to know who told him.  Art is impatient--to say the least--and grabs Mar by the collar.  “—Is it true or not???!!!”  Yes, says Mar, she could be paralyzed for life.  Art is soul-searching impactado.

Meanwhile, Armando and Refugio take turns in entering Tere’s room and telling her how much they love her and how she needs to be strong and survive this tragedy. FF>>

Art goes nutzoid and starts shaking Mariano, telling him he doesn’t believe him; that he’s just saying that because Mar’s hurt--and we suppose wanting to take it out on him.  Mar pulls him off him and fights to stay professional.  He explains that he wishes it were only that, but the fact is that the bullet is close to the spinal column and could cause paralysis if and when they try to remove it—and no, it’s Dr. Alcazar’s and various other experts’ opinion, not just his.  No, yells Arturo!  You’re only saying this to upset me!  Art, he knows, is not exactly in his right mind at this point, so Mariano cuts him some slack.  Art runs to the nurse’s desk to find where Hector is, pushes Mar out of his way, and then races to Hec’s office to get it straight from the horse’s mouth.

Well, unfortunately, Hector’s still at home having his breakfast, so Arturo will have to wait for his confirmation.  Aurora and Martin have arranged a special breakfast to announce their engagement.  At least we find out from a quick chat between Aurora and Daddy before Marty arrives, that Tere’s stable for now, but the inflammation hasn’t totally subsided.  Happy, happy!  Joy, joy!  FF>>

Back at the hospital, Aida stops in for a quick chat with Magda the magpie.  Aeeeda asks about Teresa and Dr. Magpie immediately starts chattering with all the details.  (Definitely wouldn’t fly in The States.  Some lawyer’d have her entire career for lunch—and rightfully so!)

Across town, Luisa tells Fernando she’s stopping by the house to pick up a few things for Art and Teresa whenever she wakes.  Nando has an chance to help her brother out some how and is staying to revise the paperwork and then go to some bidnez meeting.   He tells her to give his best to Tere if she regains consciousness while Luisa’s there.  Lu mentions that now Tere and he will be closer than ever since now she has his blood running through her veins.  Nando smiles weakly at the irony. FF>>

Outside the Barerra manse, Fito stops by and chats with Reina.  She tells him that Teresa was shot by some crazy woman and in the hospital.  He leaves and wonders where he’s going to get his money from now.

Hec and Aurora arrive at the hospital.  Art races into their office and demands to know if it’s true that Teresa could be paralyzed.  They say yes, but it’s not certain and explain about waiting a full 72 hours, etc.  He’s angry they didn’t tell him right away.  They say they didn’t think it was a good time, considering his state of mind.  Art wants to know the percentages.  Hector says there’s a very high possibility she’ll end up a quadriplegic.  Art stops to process.

In another part of the hospital, Mariano runs into Refusio and Armando.  They figure as long as Tere’s alive there’s still hope for her.  He tries to comfort them and explains they’ll have to see how much damage the bullet has done. FF>>

Hector and Aurora try to get Art mentally prepared for the worse case scenario.

Johnny tries to talk Pati into staying with her abuelo a while, but she refuses because she doesn’t trust him not to lock her up or send her away despite their being married.  Juana shows up and then Cutberto.  She and he have to watch out for Esperanza since Dr. Hernan can’t come by. (Yawwwwwwn!)  FF>>FF>>

Back at the hospital again, Aeeeda pounces on Mariano and wants to talk.  What about?  Is it true what Magda just told her about Teresa ending up a quadriplegic?   Mariano gets really ticked and tells Aeeeda  that Dr. Magpie had no right to tell her that because it’s confidential!  (I guess they really don’t have any HIPAA equivalent in Mexico.)  Well, Magda must have thought they were still dating, says Aeeeda.  Mario says even so, she had no right to discuss it with her, period.  Why is she asking anyway?  Well, despite what he thinks, Aida says as sweetly as she can, no way would she want Teresa to have to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair!  He shuts her up and says that’s not going to happen!   “—And, I hope you’re sincere about that.”  Why?  Because, he answers her, it’d be really upsetting to realize that he’d been wrong about her all this time.   (Well, get ready to be upset—really, really U.P.S.E.T.)   He leaves to check with Hec and Aurora while Aeeeda smoulders silently.

Elswhere in the hospital, Art enters Tere’s room.  She’s still unconscious. He tearfully tells her that he should be the one lying in that bed and fighting for his life, not her!  He would have preferred to die rather than see her now as a quadriplegic.  One way or another he’ll make sure she has any [a cuanta] doctor necessary!

Refusio and Juana chat at the hospital about 1) Tere’s improved condition 2) nobody can tell Esp for fear she’ll lose the baby over the shock and, 3) Hector told Juana she’ll have to decide between Buttberto and him, but Juana can’t because they both have their pluses.  Oh yeah, 4) Refusio thinks she’s taking her own sweet time about it.

At the prison Boots Rootsie and El Bigote have a good couple of yucks over Tere’s being at Death’s door.  It serves her right as far as Genoveva and Ruben are both concerned.  It’s karma: payback for all the harm she’s caused them.

Aurora takes a turn at the unconscious Tere’s bedside to tell her to get well and walk again so she can be the matron of honor at her and Marty’s wedding, not to mention having to attend Daddy and Juana’s wedding, too! Oh, and no she never thought she’d be so excited about marrying Marty, but turns out that she is.  (Ehhh!  Yawn.) So, hurry up and wake up!  FF>>

A bit later, Hector, Mar, and Aurora are discussing Art’s outburst.  Mar asks how he found out.  Aurora says he overheard a couple of nurses discussing it.

Rubigote doesn’t forget to ask Gen for another bit of cash…er… to keep Fito happy.  (Anybody wonder how much he’s taking off the top?)  Unfortunately, now that Aeeeda and Mar have broken up, it’s going to be difficult to find out when Esp’s had her little boy.  They’ll have to figure something out.  Gen reminds Rube that they’ll have to start from scratch trying to get Mayra to forgive him first as a woman, and then to have her let him out of prison. FF>>FF>>

Mariano comes in to check on the comatose Tere again.  He tells her that he is sorry he couldn’t come by to check on her last night because Art was with her all night, but he hasn’t stopped thinking about her.  Speak of the Devil!  Art walks in just then, angry as all get out to see Super Mariano standing there.  (Well heck, sports fans!  You’ve got the guy who knows he should have taken the bullet walking in on the guy who would have pushed his woman out of the way and actually done it!  Yep, the Magic Medical Man, Mariano, saved his woman’s life while he, Mr. Pretty Prof, hid behind her skirts and then later bawled like a baby over her bleeding body.  Guilty as charged, he stood there crying, beautiful a creature as he is, and let his wife fight off the loco dead client’s gun-toting, raving wife while he only tried reasoning with her--from a distance--instead. Like when’s the last time anybody was able to reason with a rabid dog?)  Art thanks Super Mariano for saving his wife’s life but warns him to steer clear of her [mantener al margen] from now on; that Dr. Alcazar is handling her case.

Mariano turns around and tells Mr. Pretty Prof the hard, cold truth.  “I know she’s your wife and I respect you; but are you sure you’re ready for what might come next?  If it turns out that way it will be because she sacrificed herself for you.  Let’s hope you know how to appreciate that [valer=to be worthy of, to value] and never fail her again, neither as a man nor as a husband!  Understood?”  Oh yeah!

At the Alcazar’s, it’s second seating for breakfast.  Marty and Aurora announce their engagement to Juana.  Yes, Papa knows, but they asked him not to tell her so they could surprise her also.  Juana is like the mother she should have had, says Aurora and she wants her there at the wedding taking her unworthy bio-mother’s place beside her daddy.  Juana’s thrilled.

Mar gets back to his office and sits down.  He takes a painful moment to remember him and Tere making love.  He’s thinking to himself how he could have spent so much time apart from her when in swoops Aeeeeda, to take her perch by his side.  “—We haven’t finished talking.”  “—What about?”  “—About us!”  He says again that there’s nothing left to say.  She begs him to remember that what they had was really good and worth the effort.  He says it was, but that he can’t offer as much as she’s offered him. It’s just not there.  So please don’t bring it up again!  “--But--!” “—Please, Aida!  Don’t make this more difficult!  Nothing will change my mind!![cambiar de opinion]”  She leaves and he thinks back to the first time he and Aida kissed and then the first time they made love.  Magpie walks in and breaks the mood at that point.  “—Don’t tell me that you finally did it and ended it with Aida!”  It wasn’t fair to give her false hopes when he’s in love with somebody else, he says.  Then he lays into her for discussing the particulars of a patient’s case with an outsider—specifically Teresa's.  Even if Magda did think he and Aida were still dating, that wasn’t justified. She’d better not do it again!

At the same time, back in Elegant Acres, Odious Oriana stops in at Genoveva’s manse to try buying Art’s mansion.  Unfortunately, it’s already been sold, and no, Gen cannot reveal the name of the buyer.  Tsk.  No other house interests her.

Teresa is just starting to open her eyes and regain consciousness when in flies our favorite little vulture to check out the roadkill.  “--Teresa, you’ve done nothing but ruin my life for forever!  First with Paulo and now you’re wrecking my chance at happiness with Mariano! “  She grabs the oxygen tube and squeezes it in half to stop the flow and possibly suffocate her.  “—Well, little good it’ll do you ‘cause you’re never getting up out of this bed again!  Never again!”  (Shades of Esperanza suffering Aeeeeda’s buzz-bombing a few months back invade Viewerville’s brain.)   Suddenly Tere’s eyes open and she’s fully awake.  “—Well! Looky here! [Vaya!] I guess the frightful news made you wake up!”  (Tere does looks frightened. And why not?  She goes from looking into one scary and demented broad’s eyes to waking up in a strange place, staring into another’s.)  Aeeeda’s tears dry up and her frown turns into gleefully evil grin.  “--You’re in a hospital bed, a bed from which you’ll never get up ever again!!” The wild eyed b!tch pokes around on Tere’s chest and belly for emphasis.  “--Because….You. Are. Going. To. Be. Paralyzed!!!”  Je,je, je!!

Across town again, Gen and Odiosa chat about Aida and Mayra being close family friends, the problems with the jerk Mayra married, and that she also knows about Paulo and their ages old problems with that b!tchy upstart, Teresa.

Back in her woefully unattended room in Intensive Care, Teresa’s eyes go wide from the obvious shock of the news.  “—Why am I here?” “—Do you really [a poco] not know what you’re doing here?  Jo, Jo!  You also have amnesia?”  “—I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”  “—That you’ve always been a sewer rat and that now it’s your turn for PAYBACK!”  Aeeeeda starts running her fingers up and down Teresa’s legs, pulling on her and shaking them up and down like an old rag doll.  “—Cuz you don’t feel anything now!”  She races over to Tere’s arms, lifts them up and down, shakes them all around, and then screeches at her.  “—Come on, try to move, just try if you can, jee-jee!” Aeeeeda giggles spitefully.  “--You can’t!”  Tere’s mind does major somersaults.   “—Welcome to your new and cruel reality, Teresa!”  She vigorously shakes Tere’s limp arm again and viciously tells her that she’s leaving to find the doctors to come explain it all and make sure she understands exactly what’s happened to her.  “—Don’t go anywhere, now, ok?”  (Is there anybody still left on Team Aida after tonight’s episodio who wants to admit to it?)

Meanwhile, Mariano, Dr. Magpie and the other doc friend from schooldays discuss the breakup with Aeeeda.   Hey, it’s not fair to lead somebody along when you don’t feel the same way they do.  It’s a waste of time.  Dr. Friend says hey, at least she’s rich, fun, and good-looking.  What’s the harm in marrying somebody like that?  Mar needs more out of a relationship than that.  Magpie says well, maybe it’s no more than hurt pride keeping Mar thinking he’s really in love with Teresa.  No, it’s not like that, Mar assures her.  Dr. Friend says well, could be she’s no more than a trophy and once you have her back you’d feel nothing for her again.  Mar says wouldn’t matter anyway, because it’s obvious from what’s happened that she’s now in love with her hubby.  Dr. Friend says Puh-lease!  “--We all know she dumped you to marry for money.”  No, says Mar.  Things have changed.  Her husband has lost his fortune.  Well, says Dr. Friend, she’s going to be pissed as heck cuz things haven’t turned out like she’d planned.  Suddenly Dr. Mapgie races back into the conference room to tell them that Teresa’s awake!  Mariano races off to her room.

We go to a momentary chat back at breakfast at the Alcazar’s, to a discussion about how an engagement is unbreakable and that there’s nothing worse than leaving a woman at the altar.

Beaming back to Tere’s hospital room in Un-intensive Care (where it’s obvious that nobody’s been intensively caring for her or Aeeeda’d never have made it past security let alone past the nurse’s station and into that room) the nurses are in a flurry of activity and Teresa’s distraught, acting out from panic.  “--Find me a doctor!  Hurry!  Get me a doctor!”  Mariano races in.  (Doctor?  Did somebody call for a doctor?)  He tries immediately to calm her down.  “—Is it true I’m paralyzed for life?  Tell me!  Am I?  I can’t be!  I’d rather die!  Die!”  Mariano tells her they have to wait to see.  “--Tell me what’s happened, Mariano!  Tell me, please!”  He explains about the bullet lodged so closely to her spine, close to the cervical vertebrae.  No!  She’d rather die!  She wants to die!  He caresses her face and gives her a tranq.

We beam back to Elite Estates to the Alcazar’s to a discussion now of who’s going to design Aurora’s wedding dress.  Marty says whatever she wants she gets!  Juana says she designed a beautiful one for Teresa, but perhaps she’s going to want a special designer for hers.  Aurora says she can’t think of anyone else she’d rather have to make it [confeccionar] than Juana.  (Ah, Aurora!  You’re such a character foil!)  Juana’s in seventh heaven!

Lu and Art are sitting in the lounge area and discussing Teresa’s horrible prognosis.  He says that Mariano was correct and it all the more reason for him to feel horrible about what’s happened to her.  He feels so impotent at not being able to do more than to wait it out.  Just like they all have to, says Lu.  She hands him the documents she and Nando worked through to restructure his debt.  He worries that his reputation will suffer after the scandal with Saenz, and that he’ll lose his clients and great income; that that will mean that his debts will take even longer to pay off.  (Welcome to the real word, Artie-boy!)  He tells Lu he should be lying in that bed and not Teresa.

Speaking of whom, Mariano is still trying to calm her down and tells her there’s still a chance she’ll walk again.  Tere doesn’t believe him.  He’s only telling her that to get her to calm down and she can’t.  “—Teresa, look me in the eyes.  I wouldn’t lie to you.”   The bullet’s pushing on the vertebrae but once the inflammation subsides, they’ll have a chance.  They’re going to have to wait.  Hector races in just then and is a bit put off to see Mariano at her bedside.  “—Does Arturo know she’s regained consciousness?”  “—Not yet, she was so upset I had to give her a tranquilizer.  I’ll go tell him immediately.”  “—No, you go on about your business and I’ll attend to Teresa.”   Before Mariano makes it to the doors, Hector turns to her and says he doesn’t understand how she found out.  “—Aida told me I was going to be stuck in this bed and unable to move forever!”   (Viewerville takes a quick time out to do the happy dance.  Aeeeda’s been fingered!  Guilty as charged!  BTW, wouldn’t it be lovely if she and Dr. Magpie can be sued for mental anguish or something?)   Mariano’s dark eyes are blazing with anger!  (Whoohoo!  The Gargoyle b!tch has been busted!)    Smoke starts curling out of every orifice of his beautiful head.

Back in the lounge, Art gets word on his cell from Hector that Tere’s awake now.

At Casa de Generous Gen, Odiosa informs her that Lu and Fernando are engaged.  Great family, says Gen, except it’s a shame that her brother’s lost all his fortune. Aeeeda flounces in and plops down on the couch with fresh gossip about Teresa.  “—Teresa’s woken up now.  But that’s not all--it seems she’s going to be a quadriplegic!”  Odiosa’s jaw drops.  She looks over Gen with a look of actual pain in her eyes.

Back in her hospital room, Art races in and tells Teresa how wonderful it is that she’s awake now.  “—What a waste, tho.  It’s useless to be alive.  I’m nothing!”

The gossip girls continue at Gen’s place.  Yes, and no doubt Teresa will leave Art flat once the crap hits the fan and the dust settles. Odiosa sniffs.  She’s nothing more than a scheming, gold digging, social climber!  “--I know the type well! All of us rich and cultured blue-bloods have got to stick together and prevent her from trying that with somebody else now that Art’s lost his money!”  (Didn’t these harpies just hear?  The poor girl is probably going to be flat on her back, immobile!  They still gripe about her as if she’s going to be up and about and seducing men right and left!) Odiosa is matter of fact.  “--As vain as Tere is it’s going to be doubly hard on her.”  Aeeeda agrees, but says she doesn’t know how Tere’s been able to make men fall at her feet like she has, all her life--like with Mariano.  “--You can’t imagine the way he’s become so obsessed with her!”  Odiosa asks what she’s talking about.

Art stands around supposedly giving Tere moral support while Hector does some tests to see if Tere has any feeling at all yet.  She realizes he’s been sticking her feet with the point of a knife-like object, but there’s no sensation.  She totally panics.  “--I can’t feel a thing!  I can’t mo-o-o-o-ve!!”

La Fuerza del Destino #5 Mon 08/08/11 Two Unwanted Buns in the Oven

Alternate Title: Ivan’s Worst Day Ever (he loses his mom, his sibling, his baby, and his girl)

Maripaz has just presented the mathematically inclined Ivan with this equation: Going at it like bunnies x 5 x every day x the .3% chance of failure of birth control pills = BABY!!!!

Maripaz tearfully tells the shell-shocked Ivan that she’s pregnant and wants an abortion (aborto). Ivan wants her to take a few steps back. Is she sure (yep, she’s almost three months late); wasn’t she taking the pills (yep, see failure rate above); let’s go to the pharmacy and get a pregnancy test, and then we’ll see. She asks him to buy the test, and then falls tearfully into his arms. He tells her not to worry and that everything will be alright. Maripaz’s face tells us she’s VERY worried.

At the factory, Ivan lines up with the other employees and collects his last pay of the summer. His padrino Silvestre tells him he can come back to work for him anytime during his vacations from university to make money for school. He makes a bee line for the pharmacy.

The EPT tells Maripaz exactly what she suspected but didn’t want to hear- she’s preggers. Ivan’s mom must know someone who can do the abortion, like a curandera (traditional healer). Ivan warns her that it’s too dangerous and asks her if she knows how many women die because of illegal abortions. Maripaz doesn’t care. She’d rather die than live with the shame. Doesn’t he know what her friends will say? Ivan doesn’t give a damn what her friends think. The only things that matter are the baby and her. Maripaz doesn’t give a gosh darn about the baby! She wants him to do something, ‘cause he’s responsible too.

Ivan has a talk later on the lawn with Pipo, who doesn’t have any ideas either. Alicia cheerfully walks up to Ivan to tell him about her approved “vacation” for a few days to go to the festival of San Francisco. It’s not a problem for Alicia that he’s busy with school and can’t go with her. She nags him a bit about eating well while she’s away. Since she’s leaving early in the morning before he wakes, they say their farewells, she blesses him, and they share their special mother-son farewell gesture. Ivan asks her so say a prayer for him to San Francisco. They both look like they need extra prayers as they give each other a last hug.

As night falls, Maripaz paces her room wondering what to do. Lucia comes in wondering why her big sis won’t eat dinner and is acting so strange. She (happily) assumes that it’s because Mari has had a fight with Ivan. Maripaz declares there is NOTHING between her and Ivan (except that pesky baby). She yells some more at Luci to get out when she offers to get her some medicine for her “stomach ache.” (le duele el estómago/la panza/el vientre)

At the dinner table, Lucrezia is ticked that Mama Carlota let their slave, uh, servant, Alicia off for vacation. When Mama C won’t allow that to turn into a fight, she turns her sights on her daughter. She’s going to go see what could possibly be keeping Mari away from this harmonious family dinner.

In the servants’ quarters, Ivan tearfully remembers Mari’s words about wanting to abort his baby, and pounds on his bed in despair and desperation. Mari is also in her bed wallowing in despair, although more quietly, when Grandma Carlota peeks in on her.

The next morning, Alicia says farewell to cheery Cleto who wishes her a good vacation. She stops off in the church before leaving, and prays to the Lord to forgive her for the huge sin (grave pecado) she’s about to commit. She loves Gerry, and doesn’t want to cause him any trouble. If his family found out she was pregnant, or Ivan, she doesn’t even want to think about it. She begs God to please let her be reunited with this baby in heaven, and to ask him to forgive her for what she’s going to do, or send her the punishment she deserves.

Ivan stalks the main house waiting for Maripaz to emerge. When Luci emerges instead, he admits to her that yes, he and Mari broke up. But he wants to remain on good terms with her and wants to talk to her. He asks Luci to relay a message to Mari to meet him in the garden. She reluctantly agrees.

Maripaz is meanwhile being pressured to go to the fancy pants party with Mom and Grandma. She begs off and avoids eating once again. They leave in time for Luci to relay Ivan’s message.

Alicia walks cautiously up to a colorful, pink and yellow house. A little girl comes to the door and guides Alicia to the woman she’s come to see.

Who is exactly the woman Maripaz wants to see right now. Ivan tells her that he did not ask his mom about a partera (midwife). He doesn’t feel that a child is ever a burden/hindrance (estorbo). For her, it is. She’s too young. A baby will ruin her life. Ivan does not agree. There are plenty of women her age that get ahead in life, WITH a child. Maripaz is NOT one of those women. Ivan reminds her that she’s talking about their (“our”) baby. He understands how she’s feeling, and he’s feeling pretty rotten too, but he doesn’t think abortion is the solution. Plus, an abortion in one of those dirty places would not only result in the death of the baby, but probably also her death. Or it could go badly and she would never be able to have children. Maripaz starts channeling Mama Lucrezia’s hysterics. She sees Ivan is going to be stubborn about it and won’t help her. If that’s the case, then she’ll just take rat poison or throw herself off the balcony! She stalks off, and screams at, and pushes Ivan when he tries to stop her.

At the curandera’s house, Alicia waits and listens nervously to the screams of the woman ahead of her.

Lucrezia screeches at Ivan to wash the car while Luci tries to get the scoop from him on what happened in his talk with Maripaz. LuScreechia continues her rant about Ivan indoors. He’s uppity and no one seems to notice except her. Oh woe is Lucrezia! Carlota tells her she’s the only one who likes to make a huge deal about class distinctions. Lucrezia doesn’t care. Ivan is a Mr. Nobody (Don Nadie).

Luci bops into moping Maripaz’s room wondering if she and Ivan have broken up. Maripaz yells that he’s a liar and a coward (mintiroso y cobarde) and orders Luci out. Luci’s happy that they’re broken up, because Mari doesn’t deserve him!

In the garden, Ivan paces, and seems to make a decision. He runs into the house and takes a moment to stare at the portrait of his look-alike grandfather. He approaches the LuCrazya Monster and tells her he needs to speak to her about something really important. He then shows that he is either crazy, or has found those spare set of balls that Lucrezia chopped off Gerry. He asks for permission for him and Maripaz to marry. Lucrezia smiles! Actually smiles for the first time. But only because she thinks he’s joking.

That smile gets turned upside down really quickly when he comes right out and tells her he knocked up her daughter. The Omen music goes full swing.

Alicia’s moaning in pain on the bed as the curandera cleans up after the abortion. It wasn’t easy to get the baby out, she informs Alicia. She’ll be in pain for a while and she’ll give her something for the pain. Also, she must rest for a few days. Alicia cries out to her baby and begs its forgiveness.

Ah, back to Lu-Crazy-a. She accuses Ivan of taking advantage (aprovechar) of her daughter (snort, giggle) and slaps him around. Her screams bring Gerry running, who has to physically restrain her from scratching Ivan’s eyes out, while she threatens to have Ivan thrown in jail. Now Carlota joins the fun.

Gerry hustles Ivan out the door for a man to man talk. How could he do this? Ivan tries to explain about young love and all that. He’ll quit school and work hard to support Maripaz. Gerry wonders if they used protection (snort, giggle, you’re one to talk…). Ivan takes all the blame. Gerry wrings his hands and wonders whatever will they do?

Ivan got it easy dealing with No-Balls Gerry, because Maripaz is now being confronted by Mama Lu-Crazy-a and Grandma Carlota. Lucrezia throws Mari on the bed and is about to slap the baby out of her, when Carlota stops her.

Maripaz has her back against the wall (literally and figuratively) when Lu-crazy-a accuses her of getting pregnant by Ivan. She tries to save her hide by saying Ivan raped her! Lu-crazy-a is ready to kill the bastard, but Grandma Carlota is way smarter than either her daughter or granddaughter. She asks how far along Mari is. Three months along means that Ivan supposedly raped her right when they began her driving lessons. And she continued to take driving lessons with him after he raped her? Uh huh, that makes sense. “He threatened me!” Yeah right. You were SOOO scared all these months. Carlota knocks down Mari’s lie pretty quickly and declares BOTH horny teenagers are to blame. Gerry arrives to tell them that Ivan says that they are in love. Maripaz informs them all that SHE does NOT love Ivan. Carlota tells it like it is and basically calls her granddaughter a slut. “You just had sex with him to amuse yourself!”

This is the last straw for Lu-Crazy-a. She calls her favorite daughter a sinverguenza (shameless). Carlota wants them to move on to thinking of solutions. Lucrezia is decided. No way will she let this pregnancy go to term so that everyone can see the shame her idiot (estupida) daughter has brought to their family. Gerry thinks marriage is the solution. Over Lucrezia’s dead body!

They take the argument to the living room. Gerry thinks an abortion is dangerous. Lucrezia thinks they can find a doctor to do it. Carlota is not on board with the abortion idea. Anyway, it’s illegal. Luci comes in wondering what all the fuss is about. She’s hustled out with a promise to tell her later. Carlota has a third option—adoption. They’ll send the girls away for a year. Lucrezia wants to know how they’ll explain the girls being away, but Carlota points out there aren’t too many other options. They’ll say the girls are studying in the States.

In the garden Ivan also won’t tell Luci what’s going on, but begs her to ask Mari to meet him. She finds Mari rocking in near fetal position on her bed. She refuses to speak with Ivan.

On a street corner, Alicia looks like death and struggles with her suitcase. She ditches her suitcase, manages to make it to Celia’s house, and asks to stay a few days.

Grandma Carlota explains to Luci that she, Luci and Maripaz will be leaving in a few days on a trip and won’t be back the whole school year. She tactfully tells her that Ivan and Mari fell in love and did something that a young woman (I guess men are excluded) shouldn’t do before getting married. Luci’s no baby and no fool. She knows that means they made love. She’s impactada to learn her big sis is pregnant with Ivan’s baby.

Celia puts Alicia in bed and asks what happened to her. Alicia admits she saw a woman who took out her baby (sacar el chamaco). Celia is shocked, points out that Alicia said she was being careful and wonders why Alicia didn’t tell Gerry. Alicia tells her about not wanting to cause Gerry any more problems. Celia wonders what the heck Alicia was thinking. She’s acting like a silly young girl (chamaca tonta). Alicia thinks something went wrong in the abortion. She doesn’t want Ivan to know, but Celia is really worried and crying because Alicia looks really ill. Alicia refuses to let Celia get anyone. She convulses in pain and raises a bloody hand from where she was clutching herself.

In the garden, Luci confronts Ivan about not telling her the truth about making love to and impregnating Maripaz. She tells him it’s his fault that now she and her sister will have to go away. “When? Where?!” Luci runs off without giving him any more info.

Alicia is bleeding and burning up with fever. She still refuses to let Celia get help. Celia tells her that if she gets worse, she will have Silvestre take her to the Red Cross (Cruz Roja). Alicia cries for her baby’s forgiveness.

Ivan sneaks into the main house and into Maripaz’s room. He wants to talk, but she doesn’t. She still wants the abortion. He wants them to run away and elope. She scornfully lets him know she will not marry the son of a servant. Well, it wasn’t important to her before (you know, when they were doing it like wild monkeys). She gets in his face and makes it very clear (using lots of those Laisha W ‘r’ rolls) that it doesn’t matter how hard he works, or how successful he becomes, he will always be the son of a lowly woman (gata).

Ivan gets the message loud and clear, but wants to know what will happen to HIS baby. Mari says it’s not even a baby. It’s just a lump (bulto) that she’s going to abort. She tells him to get the hell out.

He then runs into Lucrezia, who also tells him to get the hell out, in an even nastier tone than her daughter. She wants him and his mother to disappear. Ivan’s fine with that, but decides to play a little hard ball too. If Maripaz aborts the baby, then he’ll make sure the whole town knows what happened. (Oh, snap!) Lucrezia watches him talk to Cleto by the gate before he leaves. She then questions Cleto about what he said (only that he’s leaving and to let his mom know when she returns from vacation), and where he’s going (to his madrina Celia’s house). Lucrezia wants the address.

Ivan packs his things and speaks to a sympathetic Pipo about how he loved Mari but she just used him.

Lucrezia calls her corrupt ranch manager Leandro, complaining about how Ivan insulted and threatened her. She wants Leandro to find some boys to teach Ivan a lesson. She’ll pay him well later.

Ivan leaves Pipo in Cleto’s care until he can find a good place for him and his trusty dog. Pipo whines and cries as Ivan leaves. Ivan walks the town streets and remembers Mari’s words of scorn. He punches and kicks a wall to vent his anger.

Celia finds Alicia in a worsened weakened state. She runs to the door, thinking her husband or sons have returned and can help, but finds Ivan at the front gate. He’s surprised to find her there since she’s supposed to be at the San Francisco festival with his mom. She admits all to him about the abortion and his mom being in bad shape. Ivan rushes to her side. Alicia reacts when she hears him call to her. She didn’t think God would grant her the miracle (milagro) of letting her see him one last time. Celia runs to get a taxi and Ivan tries to convince his mom that she’ll be alright. She knows it’s not true. This is her punishment (castigo). Ivan wants to know who knocked her up.

Outside Celia desperately tries to find a taxi as Leandro lurks around the corner with a goon.

Ivan wants to know if it was his father who impregnated her again, but Alicia denies it and refuses to tell him. She doesn't want vengeance. She has another spasm and reaches out to caress his face. He’s so handsome; so intelligent. She is sure that he will succeed/triumph in life. She takes off her silver rosary and places it in his hand. She clasps his hand, with the rosary between their two palms. Ivan begs to go outside with his madrina to find a taxi to take her to the hospital. Alicia makes him promise that he will become an engineer, and be a good, honorable man. He promises and she asks for a kiss. He kisses her tenderly on the forehead. She looks at his face, smiles, and does their special mother-son farewell gesture one last time. Her hand slowly falls back onto the sheet.

Celia is still outside screaming for a taxi. She finally gets one to stop and runs back inside. The goons await their opportunity to attack Ivan.

Celia enters the room in time to hear from Ivan that Alicia is dead. He gently cradles the body of his beloved mother in his arms.

Previews: Ivan gets the stuffing beat out of him and Alicia is buried.

Cuando Me Enamoro #79 Monday 8/8/11 Arrested Development Meets Arresting Developments

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, see what fun we had. The skies are blue again after the terrible fires. The dogs are Lupita, a Mexico City refugee, Sierra, a pure St. Bernard, she is 95lbs and only 1 year & 3mos. and of course Willa my big poodle who will be 7 in Sept. Note that treat time is the best part of the hike!

Some Vocabulary:
Arrested Development – desarrollo atrofiado o desarrollo detenido
Mental Disorders - trastornos mentales
Arresting (Developments) –
A report or accusation of a crime - denuncia formal (What Jero filed)
To Arrest - detener or arrestar o apresar
An Arrest – una detención
An Arrest Warrant – Una(s) Orden(es) de detención o la orden de arrestar
Or – Una orden de aprensión – words used to arrest Roberta
Or – Mandato judicial de detención
Cardiac Arrest – el paro cardiaco o el sincope cardiaco (what Fina is having?)

I have been so ready to drive some pie carts through this entangled plot for weeks.
Now where to begin:

From last Friday, Regina tells Inez about her happiness at breaking free and expressing herself. This is love says lovely Inez. She suddenly sees Fina and Roberta walk by but by the time Regina stands up to look at them, they are out of sight. She says her odd feelings of turned tables, now she is the OTHER woman.

Augie presses his case to get Renata out of her marriage post haste. She repeats the torn photo story and says she guesses she won’t have that perfect picture of husband, family, dog and fireplace but Augie suggests, well certainly not with Jero but perhaps with another man….

The big development: Jeronimo and Carlos show up at the police station to formally denounce and accuse Dr. Nesmethenasty, Augustin Dunante and Roberta Montrubbio as suspicious persons in the murder of his brother Rafael. Jero only wants justice. Now that he knows that his brother was murdered, there will be hell to pay. His aside to Carlos is that he was distracted earlier by his love for Renata but now he wlll avenge his brother’s murder. A bit more of the arrested development in our reforming underhero.

Gonzo shows up with sparkle in his eyes and a skip to his step, compliments the receptionist about how well she looks then continues down the hall only to encounter the dour work group that has discovered Blanca has made transfers of their investments of considerable sums into (fantasmas) bogus accounts. Gonzo swears they will move heaven, earth and sea to nail her extortingass. Honorio says she planned this from the first day and was so convincing and so competent seeming that no one watched. In fact he signed things she gave him without reading carefully so he will look responsible for the loss of funds. Hon owns up that the situation is very grave, the entire business is at risk.

Jero signs the complaint to launch the arrests. Carlos counter-signs as witness. Jero and Carlos leave assured that the search for justice is underway….again….

Augie is annoyingly (to me anyway) glued to Renata all the way into the lobby of MontedeProblemas (aka, Empresa Monterubbio) He waxes on how he will be at her disposal but she reassures him that she will not be at his side (you know as main-squeeze.) He has to go to the airport but will return day after tomorrow to help her with the divorce proceedings. She looks aside at this controlling gesture, but still seems to be convinced of his great good intentions. As he leaves Renata wonders why Jero couldn’t have been like this with her.

Daniel calls Blanca to tell her the game is heating up and he is scared of being discovered. Where did she put the money? You have to withstand the pressure, she says sexily In her new office at some trendy bar, with morning brandy already poured, she tells him he has to take risks if her wants the ton of money he will get from his cooperation.

Constanza and Chema show up a the park with the embroidered table cloth that must have been his mother’s. She must be twirling in her grave as he set the red wine on the cloth and kisses Consta. Chema is kissing her telling her to get it into her head that she should just feel her feelings and let go. (Sorry, I just channeled my mother for a minute there, fussing about the lovely old table cloth .) Let’s just enjoy the going-no-where but enjoyable foreplay by the best kisser in the whole telenovela. (Sorry again, I’m not channeling anyone else this time…)

Jero thinks how he could have acted so differently if he had knows that Rafa’s death was a murder not a suicide. He texts to Renata that he misses her knows she is innocent and loves here. (I must add, the photography on these constant texting scenes is so professional! They must not have gotten a product endorsement though as we never see if it is iphone, droid, blackberry, or what.)

Gonzo and Renata talk that Blanca’s theft is so great that they could be driven into bankruptcy. It’s like old times for Renata to step back into her role they discuss how the transfers into bogus accounts can be traced if she will help. After all, she is the expert says loving Papa. He doesn’t want to hire someone new and unknown into this mess. She promises to stay and fix it all. He assures her he doesn’t know what happened on the stairs but believes she would never do anything to harm her sisterugly (I know, not Gonzo’s spoken words) and she is grateful for his confidence and belief in her.

Dr. NesmetheNasty is lying in the plaza taking drippy swigs from his bottomless flask when the police show up to identify and arrest him. He is only too happy to identify himself since they use “Doctor” Just in time Padre comes out of a store and watches the whole thing which he can then recount to an amazed Kari who finishes buying stuff for the church and refuge center, when she emerges from the store a complaining but incoherent husband was just driven off in a patrol car. (I think he could just as well been arrested by the fashion police for continuing to wear those 70’s leisure suits that he has in way too many colors.)

Renata texts back to Jero that she doesn’t understand anything about him. But she doesn’t pick up the phone.

Adriana comes into Renata’s old office and is so excited her old friend is back. Matias comes in with books and when Renata asks if his presence means he believes her innocence, he assures her he also knows she was not responsible for the fall, but they so have these books to worry about. Adriana ever the great team motivator says they will work together to move forward with the company.

Jero is still trying to figure out why Renata won’t call him back, he can’t warn her about what is coming.

We see split screen and triple screen how Renata can do the work of three and then she finds a notebook in a cabinet and runs out to report to Matias that they need to talk with papa and uncle about what she has discovered. In a NY minute (o un D.F. minuto,) she has figured out that they had certain confidential information that was never on the computer but in notebooks under lock and key because some information if available on the computer would have made them vulnerable privacy raids on the computer. So they kept the information in notebooks and in computers. But someone knowing the private information could prejudice their customers. Renata already knows that the only one who had knowledge of all this way of keeping the archived records was Daniel. He worked directly for her and Adriana and knew all of the private information before Blanca came. Honorio tries to say NO, Blanca was super capable, she must have done it all. Gonzo takes both bits of information and says we will proceed with caution with the family only,

The family members are in Gonzo’s office when Daniel comes in to rejoin them but Gonzo tells him to keep doing what he was doing and they will take care of this. He leaves leaving the door ajar as he hesitates outside; Renata goes to the door and thanks him but closes the door. Adriana is there now and very surprised that Uncle Gonzo seems annoyed with Daniel. Why? She asks. He is the only one who could have known everything about the accounts and he might to still be in touch with Blanca. Adriana the sweet asks, but why would he do this? Matias says for money, he might have been offered a lot of money to help with this big of an embezzlement. They will keep him (alejado) at a distance, while they find the proof of what Blanca has stolen.

Roberta and Fina come in from the hospital and order up a glass of water for the pills form Eulalia. Fina begins to call Gonzo to tell him they have arrived home. Roberta carps that since Matias is her husband, he should have come to bring her home. The door rings and an annoyed Fina has to stand up and answer it. The three officers tell a scared-looking Fina they are looking for Roberta Monterubbio. She is momentarily relieved then they tell Robera a second time that this (orden de apresión) arrest warrant is brought because she is suspected of the murder of Rafael.

Ezekiel meets Augie at the airport telling Augie that there are a few bombs to report, then they all meet Jero and the officers who arrest Augie Doggie. I’m not sure why Jero was allowed to be there at the airport for the arrest, perhaps just for identification. Augie says but he committed suicide, I have nothing to do with this. They know he was at La Bonita at the time of the murder, he assures Augie that is it is proven he was involved in the murder of his brother he will see justice done. Or does he quietly say he will kill him. Couldn’t hear it completely and either scenario is likely.

Augie faces Jero in handcuffs and asks why would I do this? Jero posits that he wanted to buy Rafa’s land but Rafa wouldn’t sell it. Well this must have to do with Renata then. It has nothing to do with her, says Jero. Curiously, Arely is also there watches the whole transaction through the glass wall of the airport without moving more than her eyebrow.

Adri questions if Renata, now done with Jero, will want Matias back. Renata affirms that she will always be involved with Matias but only as a friend and brother. They giggle that Adriana wants to be involved with Matias. Adriana tells her of the waking in his arms on the couch at work. Renata says she is sure that the farce of a marriage between Matias and Roberta will not last long especially now.

Fina makes her hysterical call, Gonzo puts her on speaker she rants that Roberta has been arrested and taken to the police station (delegación).

Padre and Kari question the police about why Nesme was arrested. The officer explains that he is implicated in the murder of Rafael because he didn’t not perform or order an autopsy to determine cause of death. Augie comes in surrounded by many officers to be escorted down the hall. (This delegación is so familiar from so many telenovelas, they at least have given the office and the cells a fresh coat of paint.)

Jero tells Carlos if he had known about the murder in the first place he would have acted completely different. Sure sure… Carlos says maybe you wouldn’t have met Renata if you hadn’t suspected her in your brother’s death. No, I met her before. (remember the romantic tumble at he airport) before he even knew what had happened to Rafa. Carlos says your destinies are crossed how ever it happened.

Augie is brought into the cell across from Nesme. Augie accuses Nesme of his troubles. Nesme, barely more sober from sheer terror says but you made me forgo the autopsy. They both remember the conversation that Nesme feels bad they dispense with the autopsy but because Nesme was also so drunk. Nesme goes into melt down. As the scene closes we see reptilian eyes in Augie banging on his cell bars and fade to that reptilian sneer we see so often: Fina, serpentmom

Roberta promises her mother she is innocent, she never killed anyone. Fina gets to relive her real killing of Rafa again, and probably or let us hope not for the last time. We can’t think this is an accident she had the gun when she entered. She vows to clear her daughter. After all she does know better than anyone alive that Roberta is innocent.

Matias and Gonzo prepare to go to the police station to rescue Roberta, He suggests that Adriana and Honorio will continue with investigating the books, Gonzo asks Renata to call her husband to see why he has accused Roberta of Rafa.s death. Renata is going to stay to help but Hon says no we will keep working, you call your husband. Yeah call my husband, well, he still is my husband.

Ezek brings the lawyer to Augie’s cell who asks him if he is innocent. Between outbursts he says yes. Was he in the house when Rafa was supposedly shot? Yes but he only went to leave him a check as a deposit on the harvest he had bought from Rafael.

Back at the hacienda. Kari arrives wanting to know why Jero accused Nesme. He tells her he is only seeking justice. Nesme was drunk and so did not save Rafa or perform an autopsy to determine cause of death which could have uncovered the murder . So now he is implicated as an accomplice. He will have to pay for what he has done.

Renata finally calls Jero who tells her his brother’s exhumation and subsequent autopsy revealed that he was murdered not that he committed suicide. And that Augustin was at the house at the time he was dying. And Roberta wrote the rejection letter that was found after his death No one knew of the existence of this letter before. She thinks he must have received it before. Jero insists, no, someone brought it to him, there was no (sobre) envelope.

Roberta being asked to make statements by an officer, cries that she will not say anything else until her lawyer arrives but just that her only declaration is that she is innocent. Innocent, inocent of the crime I am accused of.

Licenciado comforts Fina who swears Roberta is innocent, he assures her he believes her daughter is innocent and he will do everything in his (en mis manos) power to get her daughter out of jail. He will go now to talk to the some public official. Gonzo appears just after while Fina wails about 100 times more that he has to get Roberta out of jail and prove her innocence.

Gustavo calls the Cantu to tell him that he is coming to MexDF and he will have all proof that is needed. (we assume about Fina/Pepa.)

The precious Andrecito gets sprung from the hospital to the cheers of his class, his parents kiss and Regina and Cata look on complimenting the wonderful marriage, and their relief. Que Barbaro, this is real love, says Cata with a meaningful glance toward Regina. Andrecito gets applause while repeating the family mantra, no one surrenders here.

Detective Cantu tells Antonio that Pepa is probably Fina, one of her daughters is not hers, and he will have the proof soon. Antonio is very bothered by this news. He is sure Gonzo is involved somehow and he’s always close to Regina.

Matias and Renata show up and Renata tells Mommie Dearest that Jero told her he accused Roberta because he found a letter from her breaking up with him.

Fina’s flashback shows her in almost sepia tones, telling Rafa that Roberta fortunately (recapacitada) reconsidered and doesn’t want him after all. She pulls the letter out of her hand bag and hands it to him. He rips the envelope open and reads it but he doesn’t believe it. You probably made her write it. Fina then recalls sitting with a pad of paper with Roberta’s handwriting, practicing her forgery. All Fina can do is collapse to change the subject. They finally agree that Renata can go help her sister, Matias follows.

Augie tells Ezek that he needs his help, he wants him to find the way to destroy Linares. Ezek, says pardon me but I can’t do that . Augie grabs him through the bars telling him he has paid him a lot of money and he will do what he wants or else. Ezek says no, things have changed after what happened between me and Alfonsina, my son is all I have and I don’t need more problems or shame. I would do almost anything for you but not that. Ezek gets away from the bars and leaves.

Roberta says snidely to Renata, you must be really happy with what your imbecile husband has done to me. Renata keeps to the subject, I can help you but I need to ask you questions and you need to answer (contundente) convincingly you must tell me the absolute truth. After a pause, Roberta decides Renata is her only chance to get out. I swear I didn’t kill Rafa . And do you swear that you had nothing to do with Rafa? She finally says since you are willing help me, I will tell you the truth. I was in a romantic relationship with Rafa. I am going to tell you the whole truth: I AM LA BONITA…

Well the arrests seem to be complete for the moment but the developments are coming fast and furiously as they set us up for how everyone will react to so many startling events tonight. My fingers are tired from typing this lightening fast capitulo and in half an hour my birthday begins. Willa and I are going very early for a hike with my friend and her friend Sierra an aptly named St. Bernard. sWe will hike up the northern side of the Sandia Mountain until we are starved, then we’ll descend to enjoy brunch at the Range in Bernalillo.
