El Mundo de Telemundo: Week of November 22

Open Discussion
¡Hola a todos! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As you know, Jean will be gone for a few weeks. This means that discussions of Los Exitoso$ Gomez and El Fantasma de Elena are up to you for now.

Thanks to everyone for all the great comments in this space. And a particular shout-out to Blusamurai for coming up with the idea for this discussion in the first place and for providing several mini-recaps of her favorite shows.

By the way, Telemundo is starting to run occasional promos for La Reina del Sur, a new novela based on the novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. They say it is coming in 2011, and that Kate del Castillo has the title role. Today they showed Rafael Amaya, the murderous Julián in Alguien te Mira, in the role of El Güero.

Aurora
César’s planned kidnapping of Blanca is a disaster: Snow White and the Three Stooges. She escapes with her life but some innocent bystanders may not have been so lucky. Suspicion falls on César.

Aurora and Lorenzo show by deeds, if not by words, that they care about one another. She calls him, instinctively, when she is in trouble. And he rushes to her side without a thought for his own safety.

Vanesa is a more complicated villain than we thought. She reaches into her own pockets to help los Ponce de León with the ransom money to save Blanca’s life. She is still the only one outside the inner circle who knows that Aurora is… well… Aurora. And she continues to play puppetmaster for most of the characters who dance as she pulls the strings.

Natalia, in contrast, becomes more and more repugnant. She is filled with vindictiveness: it spills out in the look of pleasure that crosses her face when she hears that Aurora’s life is in danger and in her defense of César’s indefensible conduct.

Icky Federico continues to court Natalia according to Vanesa’s instructions. Meanwhile, it has become apparent that Natalia and Gustavo have a history together.

To keep her from stepping into the moral abyss of incest, Aurora at last tells Blanca that Martín is her brother:
Hay algo muy importante que tienes que saber y no me puedo morir con este secreto. No puedes tener una relación con Martín.(There is something very important you have to know and I can’t die with this secret. You can’t have a relationship with Martín.)
Blanca: ¿Porque tú lo quieres?(Because you love him?)
Aurora: No, ¡porque Martín es tu hermano!(No, because Martín is your brother!)

Blanca and Vicki are both interested in César. He likes Blanca. It looks like a set-up for a repetition of the Aurora-Vanesa-Lorenzo triangle.

Vanesa makes yet another play for Lorenzo and once again is rejected.

When Gustavo learns that Martín is Lorenzo’s son, he fires him.

Inés is ever more fragile and unstable. Even so, Aurora refuses to forgive her for her past transgressions.

Lorenzo asks Martín to stay in the family apartment with Nina while he and Natalia are in Madrid. (Lorenzo knows nothing about Nina’s obsession with her stepbrother or how she seduced him at the graduation party. But Natalia knows perfectly well that Nina is in love with Martín.)

Lorenzo acknowledges to Martín that he has fallen in love with the new Aurora.

Note: Friday’s show is worth watching if you are late in coming to this novela or have missed an episode or two. It’s a nice summary of main events up to now.

Alguien te Mira
Yes, Julián is the serial killer. NJ Sue, I think you were the first one to call it. And Vivi in DC picked up on Julián’s traumatic history before the writers made it explicit. Nicely done, ladies!
Julían tells Eva that he was 18 when he killed for the first time. And he hints that the victim was his own mother. He rejects Eva’s plea that he spare her because of her daughter. She sent her daughter away, he tells her. And he didn’t come looking for Eva – it was she who came after him.

And after these revelations, he pulls her towards him. In that instant, all our hopes for Eva's escape vanish. Julián stabs Eva to death. And then he lies beside her bloody corpse and admires his handiwork.

Mercifully, Eva's last thoughts are of her daughter. She visualizes her as a young lady. The last word in her mind: Gracias.

Julián has appeared distracted lately; he seems to be having a hard time keeping up his “normal” life. Everyone chalks up his odd behavior to his concern about Eva. His distraction is largely calculated: it is perhaps how he imagines an ordinary person would act under the circumstances. But every now and then, the mask slips and his friends look at him curiously. Even Piedad seems to be wondering at times but still appears inclined to trust him.

Matilde may still be in love with Mauricio in spite of his voyeurism. It seems pretty clear that he really loves her.

Luisa Carvajal has shown herself to be a true friend to Eva by insisting that the police pursue aggressively the investigation of her disappearance. She also kept Mauricio’s sex tapes away from the male detectives.

Benja continues pursuing Camila. She claims to be trying to distance herself from him, but in Friday’s episode, the two end up in bed together. Meanwhile the relationship between Benja and Tati is strained to the breaking point. And Lucía is the first person to tell Tati to her face that Benja has been unfaithful to her.

Rodrigo goes to a group session at a rehab center; he remains dubious but now at least he has taken the first step.

Pedro Pablo and Lola demand a DNA test but Luci la Loca says she’s within her rights to refuse such an invasive procedure during the pregnancy. They’ll have to wait nine months. Lola is falling apart. At work at Tatiana’s place, she can’t stop crying.

Other developments in Friday’s episode:
Tire track evidence links Benja to Eva’s disappearance. When he is called in for questioning, he admits to Carvajal that Tati’s alibi for the morning Eva disappeared was false.

Someone mails a photo to Rodrigo. It shows him and Benja at the site where they dug up the heart, the precise site where Eva went missing. It could only have been taken by the murderer.

Matilde is shocked by how callously Julián speaks about Eva when her fate is still unknown and he is supposedly in love with her.

Pedro Pablo caves in to Lucía’s threat to tell her story to the press. He give her back her job at the clinic so she doesn’t drag their name through the mud.

And finally, and most horribly, a group of young cyclists finds Eva’s body in the park. It is set out in an elaborate display, covered in white petals and surrounded by blood-red rose petals.

Julián feigns grief as he announces to his colleagues: Eva está muerta.

La Verdad Oculta #52: Ah...stolen property, eh? Whew, what a relief!

* Asunción and Caramelo visit their old friend and his two sons who live somewhere in the slum district, though at first the man doesn't realise that the elegant man at his doorstep is his old beggar pal.

* Medina notices Elsa's sadness and asks her if she has something to tell him. He's sure something has happened to her. Elsa starts crying and says she's afraid that if she tells him everything he may change his opinion of her. She has a brother whom she loves much but he's in prison... again. Medina comforts her, he swears she can count on him and kisses her cheek. *Viewerville: wow*

* Asunción confesses to his friend he and Caramelo want to leave Juan José's house because he doesn't like the way he acts and how he treats Elsa lately. His friend doesn't understand him, okay, that JJ must be mad about his architect girlfriend and may be irritating, but think about Caramelo's future! Asunción admits he does enjoy being rich and having everything. Yeah, he does have a TV, too. He invites the family to watch the football match with them in the hotel apartment.

* Gaby and Leo are just talking on phone about a meeting next day when David shows up and nervously asks her about the photos the made in Los Angeles. She responses she can't find them, they must've been lost. David has a Bale Out moment: he's not stupid and she should've made up a better story! What? He shows her the photo from Carlos's office. The couple shout each other's head off and Bertha listens to their quarrel with the utmost pleasure. Finally David tells Gaby he's very sorry for marrying her and runs upstairs.

* The guys and the kids are watching the football match when the doorbell rings, and Alejandra shows up. Miss Snobby's eyes almost pop out of her head when she sees JJ's guests and the mess in the apartment and hears the noises, but the last straw is when one of the kids called Chicles asks if she's Auntie Elsa? So she turns up the nose, rudely refuses to be introduced to the guys and quickly leaves.

* Outside the Genovés villa a weeping Gaby calls Leo who invites her for a coffee. In the restaurant he admits he thinks she doesn't know much about her husband. But she loves him so much... He hugs and comforts the sad woman.

* JJ follows Alejandra to the garage and they bicker about what happened in the apartment. JJ is angry at Ale for being a snobbish princess, and a very jealous Ale says oh, she's sorry for not being Auntie Elsa! And of course they confused her with Elsa, he's obviously talking about her all day!

* Gabriela tries to convince David that she doesn't understand how Carlos got the photo but it's hopeless. He leaves the house with his suitcase and shouts he wants to divorce. *Viewerville: rolleye* Gabriela tells everything to the Balmori sisters, and although Bertha does her best to act like a surprised, innocent, good-hearted girl who has nothing to do with the scandal, and who's very worried for the young couple, she can't fool Alejandra.

* Carlos tells Adolfo David plans to do an audit in Sagitario. Naturally he threw him and his accountants out but there may be problems since the last balance sheet they made was falsified. Dolphie says it's not his job, but actually it is since he's the manager of the restaurants. Daddy orders his son to bring all books of accounts to their home but Carlos, who prefer running the business lawfully, doesn't like it and asks Adolfo is they have robbed their associates or no. Adolfo has a tantrum and calls David but he refuses to talk with him.

* At the architect studio Ale is complaining to Mina about her relationship with Mina when the big guy shows up. What's her problem? Elsa! She's obviously too important for him. JJ insists that she's his a-mi-ga, or she's like a sister for him. They know each other for a long time because she has been visited her brother who was his cellmate. Oh, yeah? And was her brother imprisoned innocently too, asks Ale sarcastically. JJ decides to leave before he explodes but she asks him to wait - and she throws the keys of the house at him. The job is done.

* Leo interrogates the jeweler Marcos sold the first diamonds to. Where are the gems now? An old customer of him

bought them? And what's that customer's name? Yolanda Rey.

* Elsa asks Mauricio for a day off because she plans to visit her brother, and the knight in the shining armor and glasses offers to accompany her.

* In the hotel apartment JJ tells Asunción about his quarrels with Ale. She's is angry at him because of Elsa. Asunción says Elsa is like them, she's one of them and JJ agrees. He realizes he treated her very badly and decides to visit her. However, at Mauricio's office he runs into the extra from Mad Men again who tells him Elsa and Medina left together and doesn't know when they're going to return. Outside he gets a phone call from Gabriela who'd like to meet him.

* Poor, desperate Abelardo meets Fausto in the headquarters and begs him to return as Mario again. They have to control David somehow before he commits another stupidity, like the audit in the restaurants. But Fausto is completely fed up with the Genovés family, and refuses to obey. He runs out and while Abe's chasing him outside the building Susana shows up holding a suitcase. She says her husband left her, she has nowhere to go and needs a job... please, please, please, help him! Since Abe has a heart of gold he sends her to the Genovés villa and says try to talk with Sra Gabriela. After he leaves Susana's tears dry out immediately.

* In the restaurant JJ gives a lovely paper rose he made to Gaby but she's more interested in what he wants from her new family. He admits it was Mario and Adolfo Ávila who sent him into jail 11 years ago.

* Mr. Hot Cop and his faithful assistant visit Yolanda at her flat and says he wants to interrogate her in the AFI headquarters. But why, why, why?! Because she bought stolen diamonds. A brief relief passes over Yolanda's face but when she learns Leo is talking about the famous diamonds from The Shoes she gets frightened again.

* Susana shows up at the doorstep of the Genovés villa and begs Gaby for job. Bertha says she never employs

anyone who doesn't have references but Gabriela takes pity on her. Great, now we have one more viper in the Genovés household. Speaking of snakes, an angry Adolfo stroms into the hall and threatens Gaby: her precious husband has no right to order audits or play the boss of the company. He isn't even Mario's son!

Llena de Amor #74 (Mex. 79) Wed 11/24/10 The malas mar Eman's merry plans to marry Mari

Ahoy all, I am subbing for Judy tonight who is busily making pies for her Thanksgiving dinner. Tomorrow night our show is pre-empted and Carlos will pick it back up on Friday.

Capitulo 74

Last night we left off with poor Gretel hearing her uncle’s voice in her head, “Juana Felipa Perez, Juana Felipa Perez”. Chilling words indeed.

Poor silly Gretel blabs her knowledge to Mama Fedra Juana and is rewarded with a “What did you say stupid?” and knock-out slap across the face. Fedra keeps yelling at Gretel but the omnipresent Bernardo points out that the little crazy one has fainted. (Hardly fainted, but OK.) Spidey tells Fedra he knows what she’s thinking but remember that Gretel is her daughter. Fedra says that amongst animals sometimes a mother has to sacrifice a cub for the sake of the litter. Yikes!!

Over at the happy house without locks Brandon regales the ladies with his tale of the prison takeover and how Oliver almost got killed. Doris agrees with Maggie, Oliver put himself in harm’s way because of his despair.

They are interrupted by the bustling arrival of the lovebirds, M&Em. Netty’s happy, Brandon not so much. Eman tells him to get used to it, from now on he and Mari are inseparable, but they don’t want to share the big news until Oliver gets home. OK if you all insist, we’re going to get married! QUE???

Kristel calls Ilitia to tell her the horrible news about Eman’s marriage. The nasty fresas start hatching their nefarious plot to divide the love birds.

Brandon’s been busy huffing and puffing his chest. He reminds Mari she vowed in front of the world she was done with Eman forever. Aw shucks, it was just a simple misunderstanding, kissy kissy face face.

Oliver has Mauricio over at the police station cutting a deal. Mauricio agrees to give up Garduno if Oliver gets him out of jail. Oli tells Mau he’s in luck because they are going to catch that scourge Garduno this very night. Now sign on the dotted line. (Is that how it works? I never knew.)

Let’s join the lackluster celebration over at Netty’s. The disconsolate damas are ready to toast with beer but Brandon leaves the room in a snit. Eman seems not to notice the mood, but he announces no beer for him, he’s got to drive his moto back home for dinner. Netty tells Mari she’s crazy. Brandon breezes through on his way to work and pontificates that he hopes he’s wrong but he fears Eman will be Mari’s own misfortune.

The terrible twosome of Ilitia and Kristel are “in shock” (yes, they even say it in English) over the engagement of M&Em. What’s worse, Kristel reveals that Fedra actually toasted with Champagne. Aha! Ilitia reveals Eman’s plot to marry Mari. Kristel is impressed until Ilitia announces she thinks Eman really DOES love Mari. Kristel whips out a big piece of paper and shares her idea for messing with the engagement. Her plan will split them up (let’s say it together) “Por Ever, byeeee.”

PSA alert!! Eman runs into Benigno and recruits him to help Eman in his research regarding the causes of obesity. Poor Benigno gets to be the guinea pig as we blast through numerous scenes of pamphlets, scales, food pyramids, consultations, the treadmill, and tasteless low-fat lunches.

Speaking of hunger (we were, weren’t we?) Delicia is tidying up with her shapely derierre in the air when who should come into the room but the smitten horndog Axel. Delicia scolds him for his rotten choice in novias and tells him she hopes he gets his memory back soon. He starts kissing her hand and tries to elicit her illicit assistance when who should sneak into the room but mama bear. Whoops! Delicia skedaddles and Fedra’s happy to see her son acting like a real man but doesn’t exactly agree with his taste for the lower classes.

Alone, Axel is about to bite into a big red juicy apple when suddenly he starts to hear himself as a child begging his mother, “No no no no, I don’t want to go to this place!!”

Back at work Eman runs into Lowrenzo who is publicly sliming all over the latest hottie provided by Garduno. Low starts to half-heartedly pipe up about Ilitia but since he’s busy they’ll talk later. Then surprise, Ilitia is in Eman’s office with a couple of drinks to celebrate his engagement with La Gorda. This is turning into quite a day for Emanuel.

Garduno gets out of jail and is met by his lawyer and Baldy. Baldy reassures him that Lowrenzo is getting help in forgetting his son thanks to the lusty charms of the lovely Zulema. “Zulema?” says Garduno, but she’s his most special filly that he raised since she was a girl. He hopes Lowrenzo treats her well. Do I hear an “uh oh”?

Our two favorite polis are hunkered down in a van nearby spying on Garduno’s release. It looks like Mauricio has also been released from jail much to Garduno’s surprise. Mau says thanks but my family got me out. However now he has to start from zero so he’s ready to do some sort of shady deal with Garduno ASAP. Garduno gives him an address and tells him to be there tonight. With cash.

Back at work Eman is highly suspicious of Ilitia who seems to be sincere in her congratulations. She loves him but wishes him to be happy. Sure she does. She has a surprise for him and he’s all Uh Oh, now what? Horns blow and confetti falls as all his work pals jump out with a “Surprise!”

Kristel seems to be feeling better. She’s perked herself up with a venemous visit to her cousin. She wants to return Mari’s diary and to share that same big piece of paper that she showed Ilitia earlier. Mari is shocked to discover that it’s an invitation to the marriage of…Emanuel and Ilitia? Cara impactada de Marianela.

Emiliano tells Fedra he’s going to visit Gretel at the clinic. Think fast Fedra. Uh, she had to remove Gretel because that desgraciado was stalking her. She had to ship Gretel far away to that place where they put cheese on top of their enchiladas. And, uh, she forgot to tell Emiliano because it happened so fast, but it’s a great place and soon Gretel’s nightmare will be over. Emiliano tells her his nightmare won’t be over until he’s done with her lies. Then he leaves? What about getting more info on Gretel? Sheesh, these people.

Mari tears up The Invitation and calls it a bad joke but Kristel says no, it’s the real deal, really, check out the date. Two months after you get married he’ll ask for a divorce, get his legacy, then marry Ilitia. “It’s a lie, Emanuel loves me!” shouts Mari. This is echoed by my honey who happens to be passing through the room, “es una mentira, Emanuel me quiere! Mentira mentira mentira.” No comments from the wise ass peanut gallery please.

Kristel assures Mari that Emanuel is only marrying her for the money. She makes a funny, he’s hit the jackpot, El Premio Gordo, literally the fat prize. Mari ain’t laughing.

Back at work everybody is wearing shiny pointy hats and boozing it up. Some chick even starts swinging her hips while trying to maintain her balance on the squishy set bed. Ilitia continues to convince our dopey galan that she’s really truly accepted his engagement. The group toasts to Eman and Marianela and they encourage him to chug his big snifter of booze, “otro, otro, otro”. He downs shots, he wears pointy hats on his head, time passes, he staggers, he dances on the squishy bed, Iitia smirks, and night falls.

Mauricio is in a warehouse or possibly the disco. Brandon and Oliver, in full SWAT gear lurk around the corner. Garduno arrives with his cronies Baldy and Basura, whips out his gun and demands to see the cash.

Delicia brings Alex’s guitar to his room just has he emerges from the bathroom wearing only a towel which is wrapped precariously at best. Oh, he’s also wearing flip-flops. I know you won’t believe me when I tell you he drops his towel. Ay dios mio! She tries to dash but he rewraps and asks her to stay. Does he know how to play the guitar? She says his mom made him stop because music isn’t manly. He wants to know more. Delicia, never at a loss for words, tells him 1. he never had a girlfriend, 2. he never brought girls to the house, and… Axel knows, he’s heard he doesn’t like women but “that can’t be true because I like you and you’re a woman, right?” He gives a most charming smile and asks Delicia if she will help him get his memory back.

The shady business deal is going down with threats of death in case of double cross and our polis getting ants in their pants outside the room. Garduno tells Orangey welcome to the big leagues and here is all your pirated merchandise. The polis backups have arrived and they come crashing into the warehouse.

Eman is draped in streamers and drunk as a skunk. Luckily Ilitia is there to hold up his staggering bad self and put him to bed in the set bed. NOT! She saunters over and slips her dress down over her shoulders, promising him this last time will be the best time he’s ever had. OMG he mutters.

Garduno tells the police that he and Mr. Fonseca have made a completely legal transaction. Oliver starts ripping the boxes apart and finds only packing foam. He points his gun at Mauricio and calls him a wretch. This, to me, seems terribly stupid.

Zulema is doing her naughty thing to Lowrenzo but alas, they are interrupted by Fedra. Oh hell yeah, this ought to be good. Fedra reacts, um, negatively.

Yo soy sexy plays, Emanuel is passed out, and a naked Ilitia waits for her audience. Kristel pushes an incredulous Mari onto the set as Ilitia pledges her undying love for Eman. Mari can’t believe he would be with Ilitia on the same day that he made love to her! Oh believe it, sez Ilitia. Somehow Mari does not seem to notice that Eman is not conscious. Hello! The fresas enact some bogus scene and Mari falls for it. Ilitia explains that she and Eman have been making love since the afternoon which explains why he’s so (she lifts the blanket for peek) TIRED. Score one for the nasty girls as Mari runs screaming into the night vowing she’ll be nobody’s joke.

“Lorenzo, who’s that woman?” asks the lovely but cursed Zulema. Fedra rips off her dress revealing her savage corset. She grabs Zulema and drags her out of the room by her hair. Oh looky, Lowrenzo is tied to the bed and can’t help. Dang this is priceless.

Oliver blabs to all and sundry that Mauricio betrayed them. The Polis are pissed but powerless. Garduno whispers that Orangey has proven he can be trusted. I hope it’s worth it because he gets marched back to jail.

Out in the hallway Fedra has trashed Zulema and announces to the neighbors that she’s a complete prostitute. “No, not me, her!” snarls the vixen in the leopard corset, leather pants and black boots as she hitches up her tatas.

Fedra storms back into Low’s bedroom vowing he’ll regret this. She spies HER whip in a box that’s half-opened. The nerve! She removes it and cracks it viciously. Lowrenzo begs for his sorry ass but this only angers our dominatrix further. She takes out her leather toys one by one looking for her precious. Where is it? Ah…she picks it up off the floor. It’s her favorite switchblade, remember?

Feliz Dia de Accion de Gracias everyone!

On Friday: Mari hates Emanuel and she’s off to Spain.

La Verdad Oculta #51: No Reservations in the Presidential Sweet

Old married couple David and Gabriela are ecstatic in each other's company, drinking champagne at a fine restaurant; when David learns champagne makes Gabriela very jolly, he determines to order three more bottles immediately.

At the Mirador restaurant, Juan José's and Alejandra's building appetites require more than food; and after hastily arranging for the presidential suite in the penthouse, he rushes her giddily and greedily to the elevators, which don't arrive faster for laying on the UP button.

The car empties them out on the top floor just in time, because they barely make it to the hallway love seat before rending their garments, rolling around together to get at the sweet promises underneath; and they leave a trail of kisses, caresses and discards all the way to the suite door -- to afford viewers a lucky look at Juan José's firm flanks (and an unidentified flying fuzzy object over his tropic zone), when Alejandra understandably fumbles with the key card before they tumble in.

Love birds David and Gabriela arrive home, embracing and murmuring and chuckling all the way in, after David revealed at the restaurant that he's never felt for anyone what he feels for Gabriela. Bertha confronts them, trying to interrupt with news that "Mario" never called, but it rolls off their backs; and they are solid tonight.

At the condo, Félix reports happily to Adolfo that they found Roberto -- and what's more the trefoil ring, which Adolfo notes upon examination are the same stones, but different setting. Presently Bertha enters, casting a jaundiced eye at Félix's jaundiced eye, and pleases Adolfo by completing her mission and delivering Gabriela's L.A. photos.

Ramón dismays Leonardo at his AFI office by delivering other photos, this time of Santiago Guzmán -- who is unfortunately definitely by image and fact Fausto Guillén. Ramón notes the ages of the daughters match, and Leonardo is loathe to arrest Santiago before investigating -- although Ramón's suggestion he could have killed Márta out of jealousy clearly makes sickening sense to Leonardo.

Turning to his computer, the screen saver of a black Labrador retriever is replaced by old records showing that Adolfo accused Santiago; and Leonardo notes that Gabriela overheard "Mario" speak of Márta, too. Phoning Santiago to ask again about the L.A. photos, Leonardo has no patience for excuses and will ask Gabriela himself for this possible evidence against Adolfo, if Santiago does not; so Santiago acquiesces and will do it.

Hanging up, Santiago claims to Julieta he wants an L.A. trip photo to frame for the apartment, and Julieta agrees to ask when she reaches Gabriela's house. At the condo, seeing Adolfo burn the photos and negatives, Yolanda erupts in anger to think Bertha knows everything now.

But Adolfo mollifies her with news that Bertha neither was told nor asked for information before delivering the photos. Adolfo admires Bertha's intelligence and appreciates her discretion. Yolanda and Adolfo are both relieved no one can connect them to the shoes; and getting back to business, Adolfo reminds Yolanda they'll discuss the archeological artifacts she'll take to the beach house.

In the presidential suite, a smiling and robed Alejandra exits the bath to view El Presidente spent and sprawled on the destruction of their bed, her bra stretched across one side of his face. Sensing more on the horizon, Juan José bolts awake and meets her bounding into bed, vowing he's thought of nothing else than being like this day and night since they met. Hiking her around his waist, Juan José judges the view better with Alejandra on top, where she rewards him by slipping the robe off her shoulders.

At Mario's, Abelardo's distraught that David has ordered an audit of the Ávila books and can't dissuade him; Abelardo even tries to enlist Gabriela to convince David, but she is loathe to interfere in the business, despite insistence it's a dangerous action.

After they exit, Bertha phones Carlos at the condo to set up a meeting with him; he's intrigued -- especially to hear she has a little gift for him. After he hangs up, an eavesdropping Yolanda entreats him to leave Bertha alone; and when he assumes it's over Adolfo's interest, he points out Adolfo has his money and Carlos has other weapons to fight with.

Bertha phones Mina at the office to check on Alejandra, reporting her sister's absence last night. Presently, Alejandra appears at the office, and avidly curious Mina notes she's wearing the same clothes as yesterday -- but Alejandra's grinning lips are sealed, to Mina's disappointment.

When Elsa visits Caramelo at the hotel suite, she learns Juan José was absent last night, too; and he chooses that moment to enter and lie about his whereabouts, pretty much sealing the deal for Elsa, who exits never wanting to speak to him again. Juan José tries to blame Asunción for meddling; and as Asunción and Caramelo leave for school, the two of them agree they'd rather be poor again. It was more fun.

Adolfo visits the holding house to question a clueless Roberto who's astounded and mystified to hear he's been beaten to a pulp because Mario is supposedly alive. Roberto convincingly swears he saw both bodies burning, but Adolfo also saw "Mario" alive and assumes he's lying -- and if he can't admit it, the dead one will be Roberto!

At Mario's, Gabriela and Julieta agree that "Mario" and Santiago are both acting strangely, Julieta putting it down to age. They go to look for the L.A. photos just as Alejandra enters to speak to Abelardo. In the office, after learning no one's heard from her uncle, Alejandra gets Abelardo to confirm her suspicions and regretfully admit Mario did indeed die in the accident.

When Bertha and Carlos meet at a restaurant, she gives him one L.A. photo she held in reserve from Adolfo -- a photo of Gabriela alone in the outfit and shoes Adolfo gave her. Carlos and Bertha both apparently see it as a way to needle David, though; and Carlos will have it framed.

In Gabriela's bedroom suite, neither she nor Julieta can dig up the pictures; they're strangely missing from the little box she kept them in. Meanwhile, down in the office, a tearful Alejandra can hardly believe how good Santiago is at mimicking her uncle; but can't imagine continuing to feign he really is Mario. Abelardo begs her to continue doing so -- and to even help the recalcitrant Santiago; and Alejandra reluctantly agrees to try.

Back upstairs, Gabriela is just ticking off all the weird occurrences of late when she's reminded of Juan José's mysterious request and phones him to make sure he's not planning to hurt her family, which he firmly denies. They decide to set a meeting time tomorrow.

At the holding house, even after a bit more convincing, Roberto still insists he killed Mario Genovés. He grits out through blood and loose teeth that he is absolutely sure he saw the bodies burning, infuriating Adolfo further. He's in San Miguel de Allende now! Adolfo maintains.

And Roberto has to finish the job, plus explain how he got the trefoil gems that Adolfo acquired ages ago in Egypt as part of a unique set -- which Roberto finally admits he stole from the waitresses' apartment. And now Adolfo is completely frustrated, because there's no reason it should have been there -- no reason!

Carlos puts the newly framed picture of Gabriela in his desk drawer at the Sagittarius office, until Abelardo and the auditors arrive, angering him so that he gives them the boot; and then in a fit of pique, Carlos retrieves Gabriela's photo from the drawer and displays it prominently on the credenza behind him.

Leonardo visits Santiago at home and admits he was already suspicious about Adolfo over his inordinate interest in the shoes; but then he turns pointedly and asks what Santiago thinks. Flustered, Santiago insists he's never met Adolfo; and as Leonardo noncommittally responds, Julieta enters with surprising news that the L.A. photos just disappeared.

Unshockingly, David makes a beeline for the Sagittarius after Carlos booted his auditors and Abelardo; and David's just beginning to berate Carlos when he spies the conspicuously displayed photo of his own wife behind Carlos on the credenza, the anger on his face turning to incredulity -- as opposed to Carlos's spreading spiteful grin.

Eva Luna #17 Wed 11/24/10 Happy Birthday Mom

Okay, I suppose you are all wondering about the title. Couldn’t come up with a good one so decided to give a shout out to my mom as it is her birthday today. Also I know everyone is probably going to be very busy tonight and tomorrow so I decided to do a “one view run through, from my notes and if I didn’t get it all feel free to add, delete or correct” recap. I have a 20 lb turkey lurking in my fridge and it needs to get in the oven very early in the morning. So happy Thanksgiving and may you all have safe travels to and from your destinations.

Eva is leaving the mansion. As she looks back we see Daniel coming out the door. There are exchanged sorrowful looks and then Eva turns and starts running away leaving Daniel to look on as if in torture.

Marcia has a little talk with Vicky. She wants to know if she is happy with the way things are with Daniel. She gives her some wonderful “motherly advise” She tells her she is pretty enough but in today’s world a girls got to be more than pretty to get her man. She needs to be a little bit wicked (maldad) as well. (This coming from the wicked witch of the north.) . They talk more and Marcia tells Vicky she thinks something is going on. Vicky agrees with her. She tells her she needs to be resourceful to make sure that Daniel doesn’t look at anyone else.

Marisol and Fran are still at the restaurant. She comes up with a big whopper about Damian. She tells him he is a crazy person who has been following her and is obsessed with her (I think) and that he was put away in a mental institute but has escaped (or was released/ it is lie so does it matter?) Fran being the galan, promises her that he will make sure no one bothers her again.

Somewhere in all this wonderful editing is a little part where Eva shows up at the pension and tells Alicia it is over. She tells her about the conversation with Daniel and it was horrible. She also tells her Marcia warned her to stay away from Daniel. Alicia wants to know if Marcia fired her. Eva tells her it was her choice to leave. She was an idiot to fall for Daniel and she is really hurting now. We have a sisterly supportive hug.

I think it is the next day. Julio is in bed and Max is barking away. (Must be his alarm clock) He finds Eva’s note and starts reading it. Then he starts screaming like crazy for Renata. She comes running in. He demands to know where Eva is. He orders her to go get her and bring her to his room. Renata searches Eva’s room. Nope no Eva there. Then she asks one of the other servants if they have seen Eva. She tells her Eva hasn’t arrived yet. A very disheartened Julio now realizes it is a certainty. She has left and won’t be returning.

Alicia and Eva are chatting. Eva feels she did the right thing but feels badly because she knows Julio will miss her. Alicia encourages her to think about going back. Eva assures her there is no going back. In the meantime our maidenly troll is giving the wicked witch the news that Julio is really upset because she left her card of resignation.

We are now at the ad Agency (or wherever it is that Dan work’s at.) He is talking shop with his pretty assistant Maritza. They are talking about an important presentation they are about to give. Marti gets very close to Daniel and as she is caressing his face, guess who walks in? Vicky. She does not look pleased. Marti excuses herself. Vicky still has her “charms” about her and sweetly tells Daniel she will not be able to have breakfast with him and leaves. Next think we know she is in Marti’s office wearing a very sinister look.

She chews Marti out for getting to close to Daniel and touching his face. Marti tells her for her “tranquility” that there is nothing going on between them, she also says something I didn’t catch. I think she told her that Daniel isn’t interested in neither of them.

Julio is still quite upset and talking with Marcia. She has nothing good to say about Eva. Julio defends her and Marcia barks “look at the way she just up and left. Without any thought about you.” Julio tells her he doesn’t believe that and orders her to go look for her. He needs her back in the house right now!!! Marcia tells him she will get him a new assistant.

Eva is doing a little soul searching on the beach as she talks to herself about the mess she is in. She says she didn’t even know Daniel had a girlfriend. She looks upward pleading for help from her dad.

Our next scene is of Vicky putting to use some of her mother’s advice as she is sitting at Marti’s desk and messing with her computer.

So now we are at the presentation and guess what? It isn’t going well for poor Marti. All the numbers are wrong. The clients are miffed and wants to end the meeting and Daniel seems to be a bit in the fog. Marcia apologizes to the clients for the mediocre work of Daniel’s assistant.

Marti approaches Marcia to apologize and our Wicked witch isn’t having any of it. Leo pipes in that they will loose millions of dollars. Daniel tries to take some of the blame and Marcia says it isn’t his fault it is all that stupid girls and fires her on the spot.

Daniel asks her about what happened and why the numbers were all wrong and when did they change. Marti swears they were right and has no idea what went wrong. He tells her when things settle down he will talk to Marcia.

Vicky has returned to the office and tells Dan she came back for her phone. She says it was a shame that they lost the big deal. Daniel can’t believe that Marti would mess up like that. Vicky remarks what a day it’s been with two people out of work. Daniel inquires who else is out of work and Vicky tells him that Eva quit her job. Daniel looks shocked.

More sisterly chat with Alicia telling Eva she will get a job and Eva once again telling her she needs to finish her education.

There is a knock on the pension door and it is Daniel. He tells Justa he came to see Eva. She sends Adrian in to tell her. Adrian tells Eva her boyfriend is in the living room waiting to see her. She asks “what boyfriend?” He tells her the one that was at the party. Alicia has been sent to tell Daniel that Eva does not want to see him. She is tired of all his words and his letters. He gets all crazy and Alicia becomes concerned. He tells her that Eva has made him crazy.

Eva walks into the living room. Daniel tells her she can’t quit her job because of him. She pleads with him to forget about her. He says “if it was just that easy.” She now has the letter in her hand and rips it up while Daniel continues his begging. She firmly tells him to leave her alone and walks away. We see a heartbroken Daniel bending down to retrieve the torn letter.

We have another person not exactly pleased that Eva has quit her job. He is talking with Renata. She tells him she did everyone a favor by leaving. Leo wants to know if she had anything to do with her leaving. Renata tells him no but she would have been pleased if it would have been her fault. He starts off to go after her and Renata tries to stop him. He is outside now with her insisting he shouldn’t go after her. Marcia shows up and tells him that women will not step a foot inside this house again no matter what Julio wants.

Back at the office, Clara is asking Marti if she thinks Vicky changed the numbers. She tells Clara she is sure she did it. She had warned her earlier to stay away from Daniel. Clara encourages her to fight for her job. Marti replies “who do you think Marcia would believe? Me or her daughter?”

Said daughter is lounging on the beach with her buddy Claudia telling her all about the deed. Claudia is concerned that Maybe Mommy dearest won’t be so pleased.

Alicia has returned to Eva telling her she can’t imagine the sad face Daniel had. Eva reminds her that Daniel has a girlfriend. Alicia tells her he is not in love with his girlfriend. Eva isn’t buying this. She tells Alicia all he wants to do is make fun of her.

Leo is at Daniel’s house. Dan wants to know what he is doing there. Leo accuses him setting all this up just to get Eva out of the house so he could win the game. Daniel tells him to forget about his stupid strategies. Daniels tells Leo he is in no mood for this. Leo now wonders if Dan has fallen in love with Eva. We see little Laurita hiding away but listening intently in. (Bingo anyone?)

Daniel tells Leo the best thing is for Eva to leave. Leo tells Daniel he will look for her. I am not certain about this but I think Daniel tells Leo that Marcia suspects something and Leo tells him that Marcia knows everything. He asks Daniel again if he has fallen in love with Eva then says “What a shame because I want her for myself.” Leo also reminds Daniel that Vicky is his girlfriend and warns him not to hurt his sister.

This was an interesting turn of events. Justa has taken Adrian shopping and runs into an old friend. It turns out they use to work together at Julio’s business. They haven’t seen each other for a very long time. The friend causally inquires “ What has been happening in your life? Did you have a boy or a girl?” Oh oh! Justa gets quite unnerved and hurries off to pay for her purchase telling Beatrice it was good to see her again and leaves. Beatrice is now paying her bill and notices that Justa has forgotten her drivers license behind and rushes off after her. Justa is nowhere to be found.

Laurita and Jacky are talking. Laurita tells her all about the conversation she overheard. She knows that her dad likes Eva because they are always fighting. Jacky wonders if she is pulling for Eva because she wants her in her life. She confesses to Laurita that she agrees with her but they need to keep this as their little secret.

And out of nowhere we see Bruno lying shirtless in some bed talking on the phone. He is lying to Marcia telling her he is at the airport now. There was more talk about what he is supposedly doing and I hear my turkey gobbling so I really got to wrap this up. Anyway she tells him she will see him in his office and he suggests a more intimate meeting at dinner. She ponders this slyly and tells him she could do that. She suddenly gets freaked as she sees Julio scooting around the corner in his “Hover around.”

She tells Bruno she has to hang up. Something inconvenient has just come up. Julio wants to know if she is now referring to him as her inconvenience. She accuses him of playing the role of a victim. He quips back “I suppose the inconvenience is that I am sole owner of the Arismante (?) fortune.

Now Julio has wheeled into Marcia’s bedroom. She can’t believe he would leave his sanctuary to enter her room. He asks her who she was talking to. She tells him it was business. She then asks him why he is in her bedroom. He starts shouting at her and tells her he gave her an order and she will do it. Marcia tells him she will not have that woman back in her house. He tells her it is his house and she will go find her!!

Daniel and Laurita are having supper. Laurita eats everything but Daniel has no appetite and leaves the table. We skip over to the pension and see that Eva doesn’t have much of an appetite either. Now we are back and forth with our star crossed lovers both looking longingly off to the distance. We get flashbacks of all the kisses. Dan wonders what he should do and Eva thinks to herself that she just won’t see him any more.

New day. New plan. Dan is on the phone to the florist. What should he send? Roses? No maybe tulips. Maybe orchids. Light bulb moment!!!! Why not just buy out the whole store and send her everything. Our clerk seems a bit distressed as she has no one who can deliver that much. No problem. He will send his Chauffer over to help. He tells her what to write on the card. I think it said something like this “What you see are not flowers, they are actually apologies. Because of me you decided to leave the house and quit your job.”

We see Francisco carting a truckload of flowers into the pension. The living room is full of flowers. Goofy Marisol assumes they are for her. She muses that if Francisco realizes she lives in the pension and not a mansion and has sent all the flowers that he really does care for her. Ricky states anyone that would send this many flowers really has to be in love. Marisol’s little bubble is sadly busted when Alicia spots the card and tells her they are not for her they are for Eva and they are from Daniel. Eva is left speechless and that is where we end.

Had to leave you with at least one picture. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy birthday Mom!!!

Capitulo 103.
Read Julie’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Fernando is brooding on something when Marcia calls. First she harangues about him meeting some honey, then she tells him to use their time apart to think whether he really wants to marry her. He says she has no idea how pensive / thoughtful he’s been (about that) ever since he got home.

2. Lety tells her diary that every day Fernando feels closer to her, and she believes that now he really is in love with her. She says, “I can’t imagine losing him,” while Marcia whines to him, “I don’t want to lose you.”

3. Fernando dreams that Ariel took his presidency and can swat him with lightening bolts because he has the proof of the embargo. His parents found the red bag and The Letter, and Mama calls him a bad son.

4. Alicia talks pillow talk to the love of her life, her Mercedes. She takes her red bag of jewelry to her desk.

5. Omar suggests that maybe Lety found the red bag, and that makes Fernando start worrying. Then he sees the red bag under Alicia’s desk and he tries to separate it from her. She tells him the bag holds what will pay her debts and rescue her from poverty. Now he’s really worried that she’ll blackmail him with the letter.

6. While they’re house hunting, someone is stalking Erasmo: a cougar in leopard print name Matilde. Meanwhile Lety has an ugly fantasy where the newlyweds kissy-face in the bedroom and Fern tells Marcia that Lety was just a fling; how could he possibly love someone as ugly as her?

7. Fernando swipes Alicia’s red bag from the bathroom, but Ali blames Juana.

Capitulo 104.
Read Julie’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Tom says he’s engaged to Lety to keep Matilde at bay. Tom says Lety pushes him around without regard for his feelings, and I say he’s right.

2. Fernando takes Alicia’s red bag to his office, and every time he tries to open it, someone barges in and Fernando has to ditch the bag, each time funnier than the last. Ali says he should’ve loaned her money, and Fern thinks it’s a request for blackmail payoff.

3. The cuartel pleads for Juana’s job, and Sara cracks up Camil for reals; he doesn’t even try to hide it. Alicia catches Fernando trying to put her red bag back.

4. Matilde takes video of Tom and Lety as a couple. The cuartel takes up a collection for Alicia’s poverty, just to humiliate her.

Eva Luna #16 Tue 11/23/10 B.S. and hiding in the closet looking like an idiot.

Eva Luna, episode 16. November 23, 2010.

We start with a rewind of Marcela trying to "delicately" extract info from Eva about Daniel and any other women. When that doesn't work, Marcela just asks point-blank—what's going on between you and Daniel? Eva hems and haws and doesn't say anything. Even when she tries, Marcela interrupts and warns Eva that Daniel is "private property" and no one messes with her family. She doesn't want Eva near Daniel ever again. She's quite threatening and Eva is freaked.

Streaming video clip of this scene. (Right-click to open link in new window—it's hosted on my own site, no viruses, very barebones!) All the clips are in the Flash format (the same as is used on YouTube.)

Daniel is having a heart-to-heart with Francisco the chauffeur. It boils down to this: He likes Eva, but after some of the stuff Leonardo told him, he's not sure he can trust her. He saw her on that cozy "date" with Leonardo, after all. Francisco advises that Daniel forget her. Woops, it's not so easy. Daniel looks down, sheepishly, as Francisco says, "Oh, it's too late. You're already in love with her!"

Eva returns to her room after being "warned" by Marcela and freaks out big time. Who knows? What do they know about her and Daniel?

Back to Daniel and Francisco. Daniel thinks he's not in love with Eva, but then Francisco asks him some questions about his "symptoms." Thinking about her a lot? Jealousy? Oh yeah, dude, you're in love, Francisco says. He advises that Daniel do something radical—talk to her. Wow, who would have come up with that genius plan? Daniel agrees that it's much better than some of the games he's been playing. Just get it out in the open and ask what's up between Eva and Leonardo.

Daniel thinks that maybe he could just talk to Eva . . .

Tony has given Alicia a ride to college. He slings some of his unique brand of smarmy B.S. in the parking lot and then Carlos comes walking up (this time with a cast on his arm—I guess he didn't need the sling for long). Alicia tells Carlos that she got accepted into the college, which leaves Carlos musing later, wondering how that happened, since he knows she got caught cheating on the entrance exam?

Eva's still in freakout mode in her room. Better leave now, before things get worse, she thinks. But she wants to leave without telling anyone. She's interrupted by Renata who tells her that Don Julio's asking for her.

Don Julio is standing up, with the help of his cane! (He's also wearing this rather tacky-looking silver shirt that looks like it's made with some sort of synthetic fabric that won't breathe. But I digress. . . ) He's thrilled. He tells Eva that she's the one that helped give him the strength to do this. Her sincerity, blah blah blah. He's really feeling great! Then Eva pulls the rug out from under him by telling him that she's going to leave tomorrow. The old guy's face falls.

Leonardo is hard at work in his office, playing Solitaire on his computer. (This isn't the first time I've noticed this. Funny little detail.) Marcela walks in, has some questions about some checks, and also asks him if he knows anything about Eva. Leo looks impactado.

Don Julio freaks out, no no, Eva can't go. He'll pay her more. She assures him that it's not the money, and she'll call him every day, it's not that she didn't like working for him. But her assurances don't help. He suspects Marcela is behind this. The Don Julio Freakout escalates. Escalates. Escalates. Just when you think he can't freak out any more, he does. Wow, the poor guy really was miserable before Eva came along. He ends up collapsing on the floor as Eva screams for Renata for help. (I would have called 911 by that time. Or just told him I was going to stay, but whatever.)

Back and forth editing of Don Julio Freakout and Marcela and Leonardo. Basically Marcela wants Leonardo to keep an eye on Daniel and Eva, and do anything (ANYTHING) to keep them apart. Do whatever you want to the girl, she says. Leonardo gives his best sleazy fishy eye look and says it'll be a pleasure.

The Doctor has come to see Don Julio, who is now sleeping in his bed. The doctor says Don Julio is okay, but his heart is weak and he needs a lot of rest. Renata and the Doctor leave the room, and Eva cries over the sleeping Don Julio and asks why can't she get out of this trap (at the house)?

Alicia sees the teacher (who caught her cheating) and tries to thank her, but the teacher looks scared and scoots away. Alicia is befuddled, but since she possesses no apparent curiosity, shrugs it off.

Carlos sees all of this and laments to himself, "Ah Alicia, I really like you. I can't let this criminal take you away from me."

Speaking of this criminal, Mob Boss guy tells Tony he's got an important job for him and he's going to meet an important person.

Next scene we're in the kitchen of the pension with Tony the Criminal smooching all over Alicia. She tells him about the weird behavior of the teacher. He blows it off as the teacher being rude. Non-curious Alicia accepts this. More smooching and passes from Tony, which Alicia accepts and then half-heartedly wards off. Tony starts to get a little more insistent and frisky and Adrian walks in. That puts a damper to Tony's plans. After Tony walks off, Alicia makes Adrian promise to never tell Eva that he saw her kissing Tony.

Eva sits on a sleeping Don Julio's bed and thought-bubbles that even though she cares for Don Julio, she's got to get out of this house.

At the dinner table, Victoria and Marcela are talking about Don Julio's condition as Renata serves them. Renata tries to complain about Eva and blame her. Marcela isn't much interested in talking about Eva. Victoria wonders about the doctor's treatment—it doesn't seem to be working very well. Marcela assures her that the treatment is slow, but sure. (Yeah right!)

Eva returns to her room to discover . . . dun dun dun . . . Daniel is waiting for her there!

Back and forth editing again. Victoria and Marcela talking about Daniel. Marcela wants to encourage Victoria to keep close to Daniel and remember that he's her boyfriend. Victoria's ears perk up in paranoia at this.

Daniel tells Eva that he snuck in through the kitchen to get to her room. He wants to ask her about Leonardo.

The mob boss has a lot of faith in Tony. He's skilled, blah de blah. They're offering him 5% of each job. Tony then meets the important guy he's been told about. Turns out it's . . . Leonardo!

Leonardo tells Tony that he's going to trust him with this job, but if Tony lets him down, it'll be bad. Leonardo doesn't tolerate betrayal. Tony gets the hint.

Victoria calls Daniel's home, trying to find out where he is.

Daniel and Eva talk it out about Leonardo.

Jackie, at Daniel's house, says Daniel is out for a walk. Victoria is suspicious.

Daniel asks Eva about being with Leonardo when they got coffee and Leonardo read her palm. Eva tells him that it wasn't what he thought it looked like. Daniel just wants her to tell him more about Leo—I think to basically reassure him that Leo means nothing to her, but instead Eva gets annoyed and tells him it's none of his business. She reminds him that he's got a girlfriend. And if that's the kind of woman he thinks she is, he should get out. He says that she has no idea how jealous he is thinking of her and Leonardo. She just wants him out of her room.

Knock knock, Victoria wants to talk to Eva! Daniel and Eva look impactado.

Francisco is meeting Marisol at a restaurant. They have this awkward moment where he kisses her on the cheek after several aborted tries.

Victoria wants to unburden herself on Eva and talk about Daniel. She trusts Eva, she says. All the while Daniel is hiding in Eva's closet. Cut to Daniel looking like an idiot hiding in Eva's closet.

Victoria senses that Eva is uncomfortable about something. It's about a man! Victoria says. Cut to Daniel, still hiding in the closet and looking like an idiot, shaking his head.

Heaps of manure being shoveled by both Marisol and Francisco at the bar. She loves opera, he loves ballet. Blah blah blah.

Victoria wants to talk about men. Is Eva in love? Meanwhile Eva gets more agitated and it's escalating a bit like it was for poor Don Julio. She's breathing hard, says it's hot. Daniel still listening in while looking like an idiot hiding in her closet.

Here's a video clip of Eva, Victoria, and Daniel looking like an idiot hiding in the closet. I cut out the Marisol/Francisco B.S.

B.S. about opera in Italy from Marisol. Francisco is slinging more B.S. My B.S. meter is working overtime here.

Eva continues to breathe heavily in preparation for a freakout as Victoria says the unbelievable: Eva is so beautiful that if she were not a lower life form. . . errr . . . if she were not a servant in her house, but instead was a woman of education and a higher social status (DID SHE JUST SAY THAT TO EVA'S FACE?!?!) that "Daniel might notice that you exist and you'd be real competition for me!" Daniel, still hiding in the closet looking like an idiot, also looks muy impactado at this statement. And who can blame him. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Victoria ends her little speech by telling Eva that she can tell her anything, that she's a real friend. Yeah, we got that.

Victoria leaves, Daniel finally gets out of the darn closet. Eva sits on her bed looking sad and guilty.

B.S. with Claudia and Leonardo drinking drinks and smooching.

Eva still feeling really low and guilty. Daniel says that it's he who is guilty. But he goes on to say that there's something serious going on between them. She doesn't want to hear it; she wants him to go. He leaves reluctantly.

Eva looks sad and guilty as Daniel reluctantly leaves her room.

Daniel sneaks out of Eva's room like some 16-year-old. He tiptoes out and tries to sneak past the kitchen, but Renata catches sight of him and is puzzled.

Clip of this scene.

Daniel is still in sneaky mode as Marcela eyes him from behind the aquarium and says that he looks like a thief. Sputter sputter from Daniel. Marcela starts a friendly chat with Daniel.

Eva goes into Don Julio's room, leaves a note for him and tucks him into bed, looking sadly and fondly at him. She scratches Max the Dog's chin.

Video clip of these scenes.

Marcela asks Daniel how Eva was taking care of him and Laurita when he was sick. Frozen look from Daniel as he says fine. More fishing from Marcela as she comments on Eva's beauty. Daniel has that deer-in-the-headlights look but is saved by Victoria coming in and gushing over him.

Tony's giving Alicia some money and sweet talking her. I'm not sure here but is she saying that she's not going to give him more (if you know what I mean)? He says he is not asking for more. Kiss kiss.

Claudia and Leonardo are in bed and I really couldn't care less. Okay, I'll tell you what they said. She says it's great that he's so good in business. He says she shouldn't expect to marry him and get part of his fortune. She says she already knows that.

Marisol and Francisco are eating dinner and spreading the B.S. Francisco is talking about some telenovela work. Marisol sees creepy white hat guy and he approaches.

Adrian asks Doña Justa about love. He (meaning Ricardo) loves her, she loves him . . . but nothing goes on. Doña Justa wants to avoid the whole subject by putting Adrian to bed. Adrian, being a kid and therefore having far more common sense than the adults around him, persists by saying that hey, if you love each other you should be together. Doña Justa says maybe, some day, if she can leave her memories behind.

Damien (white hat guy) chats with Marisol and Francisco at the restaurant. He wants to sit and have a drink with them, but is told that they're having a private conversation. Damien presents himself as some sort of producer and says in a suggestive way to Francisco that Marisol is "marvelous" (wink wink nudge nudge). Francisco thinks that this Damien guy is a strange one. Yeah, I'll say.

Victoria is happy to see Daniel. She tries to browbeat him into meeting her for lunch the next day. Eva is leaving the house as Daniel exits via the front door. Meaningful looks are exchanged. End of episode.

Video clip of these scenes.

Avances: Video clip of Avances.

As always, additional elaborations on the details of this episode are VERY welcome, as well as corrections! Please read comments for further details and corrections. Thank you!

Llena de Amor #73 (Mex. 78) Tue 11/23/10 A flight of fancy for our lovedoves.

Well, folks, I’ve had an unexpected day off from work thanks to a blizzard that left us with all of maybe an inch of snow…on top of an inch of ice. I’m all rested up and ready for some HEAT. Let’s hope our saucy characters will deliver.
Overlapping from yesterday, Emiliano chucks some things, but not some underthings, into his suitcase and angrily leaves Fedra. Bernardo tries to get Fedra to calm down and not lose control. She says she wants Mauricio dead and she doesn’t care how. Lowrenzo smarms into the bedroom wanting a private moment with the viper, which grosses out even Spiderus. Low and Fedra work themselves into a very compromising position in time for Kristel to walk in.
Kristel is horrified to discover that her mother is such a filthy slut she doesn’t even have the decency to go to a cheap hotel. Low smoothly says this can all be explained. “Great,” says Kristel, “let’s go tell it to my dad and see what he thinks.” Fedra tries to threaten her but Kristel says she’s no longer in a position to make any demands, and she’d better get off Agent Orange’s case! Kristel huffs out. Low is just worried about this getting back to Ilitia. Fedra is more worried about Emiliano, because she thinks he’s just throwing a tantrum, not really leaving her, and Fedra needs to stay married to his bank account.
In an office at the prison, Brandon and Oliver growl and hiss at Mauricio. Brandon tells him if he doesn’t cooperate with them, they’ll make sure he stays in prison the rest of his life. This is your only chance, take it or leave it. They tell him Caimán is also an informant. Now why on earth would they tell him that?
Paula wonders what Máximo is hiding from her. Axel comes into the kitchen, mad because he can’t find a jacket he wants to wear. Paula tells him Delicia must have washed it so maybe she knows where it is. Axel’s irate that Delicia not only meddles in his life but also doesn’t do her job. He stomps off to find her.
Over at Netty’s, talk over breakfast is about the latest shooting. They are amazed that the General left the basement after so many years. Mari says he must have been seriously mad. She’s worried that now Fedra will manage to get Don Máximo locked up in a manicomio. “That will never happen,” beams Emanuel, striding in and greeting Mari with hugs and kisses. Netty studiously ignores them.
Delicia’s just out of the shower and wrapped in a towel. She goes to the very bare closet and, as Axel walks up to the window and looks in, drops the towel and puts on a bra. He goes bug-eyed and ducks out of sight. Then he sneaks another peek.
Emanuel and Mari (Em&M) fly the coop, but not before the mother hens try to stop them, saying Mari is sick. She insists she feels much better. Emanuel says an outing will be good for her, and besides, he’ll be there in case she has another spell. Doris says why don’t you just ask Marianela directly; this isn’t a kermés. They head out and Netty and Gladiola are not pleased.
Kristel and Ilitia dine in the garden. Ilitia tries to provide comfort regarding the shocking divorce. She also wants Kristel to forgive Muñeca for accusing Fedra and Lowrenzo of being lovers, because that’s just crazy. “Yeah, super crazy! I mean, can you even imagine the two of them together? Please!” Kristel cagily replies. But she’s still mad at Ilitia for the nasty accusations against Mauricio. Eventually they come to a shaky détente and hug, while Nereida glares from the doorway.
Axel’s sitting on his bed, reading Caray Caray or something on his little computer. Delicia comes in with his jacket. He asks her to bring him some breakfast. “Sure, do you want mango juice, your favorite?” she asks. “You know what I like? What else do I like?” he asks. “For breakfast, huevos rancheros with salsa muy picante,” she says. “Aha, so I like it spicy,” he teases, walking over to her. “Know what else I like? YOU!” Delicia spins around, startled, and he plants a big kiss on her. It’s all good for about half a second, until Lorena walks in.
Fedra skulks into Kristel’s room and says they need to clarify what happened. “Great, I’ve been eagerly awaiting your lame excuse. What have you come up with?” Fedra says Lowrenzo kissed her by force. “Brava! Nice try! I don’t believe you. Come back when you have a better story.” Kristel snaps that either Mauricio gets out of prison, or this bit of gossip gets out to the whole world. Fedra lamely tries the “you will respect me because I’m your mother” thing, but no dice.
Bernardo visits Caimán in prison and tells him to off Mauricio.
Em&M sit on a park bench, smoochy-smoochy. Em says if it weren’t for Mari, he’d never be able to tolerate everything that’s happening. He might not even be Emiliano’s son! It all seems like a bad dream. Mari says to just not think about it, then. She makes him promise that whatever happens, their feelings for each other will never change. They see some doves and Mari thinks it would be awesome to be a bird, flying freely in the sky. Emanuel drags her away for more surprises.
Emiliano visits Netty and tells her he’s left Fedra para siempre and asked for a divorce. “Are you crazy?” Netty asks. “Yes. Crazy with looooove for you. I want to marry you,” he says. Well, he doesn’t waste time.
Lorena chases Delicia around and around Axel’s room, yelling at her for trying to seduce her novio. Delicia finally runs out the door. Axel settles back down with his computer, not particularly interested in this drama. Lorena asks him why he was kissing the maid. “I don’t know what’s going on. I think we should take a break,” he says. Lorena doesn’t think that’s necessary. They’ll just forget the whole thing. She decides he needs a massage and a roll in the hay to relax. He goes along with it, because that’s how he’s programmed these days. Delicia pokes her head back in and sees them and thinks to herself that nasty Lorena is taking advantage of him, but he doesn’t seem to mind.
Netty tries to throw Emiliano out and get him to patch things up with his family, but he says no way. And by the way, the kids already know that he’s in love with Netty. She thinks they must hate her. She could never separate a man from his (adult, able to visit their dad wherever he may be, oops, except for Gretel, because Mom has her locked up) children! Never!
Em&M ride the motorcycle thing way out into the country somewhere. Why didn’t he drive his car? What if Mari did get sick again? She’d have to ride back to town hanging onto him, all dizzy? Brilliant. They stop and Emanuel gets out a chocolate and tries to feed it to her from his teeth. She doesn’t want to eat it. She likes that she’s losing weight and doesn’t want to backtrack. He tells her the chocolates he gave her were sugar-free, but he likes her just the way she is. Of course it is all about him. Mari thinks he will like her even better thin, but Emanuel says he just wants to take care of her and spend their whole long lives together. That calls for some kissing.
Emiliano is still trying to convince Netty to be happy with him, but she’s still being a melodrama queen about it. “I wanted you so much, but our time has already passed. Please leave my house forever.” He’s crushed, but he leaves. Netty cries.
“No one blackmails me, especially not a silly girl like you!” Fedra snarls at Kristel. “You keep your mouth shut, or I’ll…” “You’ll what? Hit me? Go ahead!” “No te pego, te pago (I won’t hit you, I’ll pay you),” says Fedra. She grins desperately and asks how much Kristel wants. A new car? A vacation anywhere? “A trip sounds super cool, but I just want Mauricio.” “No. Not him. Anything but him.” “MAURICIO.” “After what he did to you?” “That wasn’t his fault. I was the one who was stupid enough to get pregnant.” “But now you’re empty, and you’ll never have children.” “And Mauricio wants to marry me anyway. Do you want me to be alone? No way, Mommy dearest. I will not let you destroy my life. I will destroy yours first. Get Mauricio out of jail, or everyone will hear what I know.” Hmm. There’s still some room in the wine cellar, I think. Time for some sisterly bonding?
Mauricio congratulates Garduño on his final day in prison. Garduño promises that his lawyer will get Mauricio out, and then Mauricio will work for him, as they agreed. Mauricio has a business idea, but he says they’ll discuss it later.
Em takes M for a hike through the fields. They stop and he says he has something important to ask her, but he’s waiting for a very special moment. He covers her eyes and they walk about ten more meters to a tiny aircraft she somehow didn’t see before. André appears and swears he has no idea what this is about, though he clearly does. Emanuel suits up and gets in the ultralight plane despite Mari’s protests about the danger.
Mauricio plays games with some other prisoner and apparently plans to double-cross Garduño. Other prisoner tells him to be careful; Garduño’s bad side is not the side to be on. Caimán puts a knife to Mauricio’s throat and tells him he’s going to die today, Fedra’s orders.
Emanuel flies around and shows off while Mari and André watch. He does some skywriting…”Te amo Gordita” inside a heart. Okay, let’s just believe he has these skills. How romantic. I still don’t think “Gordita” is an adequate term of endearment, but whatever.
Dandy rescues Mauricio from Caimán. Mauricio tells everyone that Caimán is a pólice informant. Caimán and Dandy fight. Caimán still wants to kill Mauricio, but Mauricio says we’ll see about that. He gets the knife and stabs Caimán. Later, gator.
Mari remembers a conversation with her classmates at school, dreaming about novios appearing like magic out of the sky like birds of fire. There was maybe an excess of poetry classes or an excess of hallucinogens at that school. Emanuel lands and Mari runs over to him. André runs off and Emanuel pulls out a ring and asks Marianela to marry him. They’re standing out in the rain now, so you know it’s going to be a romantic moment. She accepts. They’re both over the moon.
Dandy tells Mau that now that he’s killed someone, there’s no way he’ll be freed. Fedra has other loyal subjects in prison, and if she wants him dead, he won’t survive the night. Mau sweats bullets.
Emanuel wants to go back to the house and tell everyone they’re getting married. Mari knows that’s a bad idea but I guess he talks her into it.
Emanuel has called ahead, and the family members and staff who haven’t fled or been imprisoned are gathered in the parlor, Axel disgustingly snuggly with Lorena. Emanuel and Mari walk in and wonder where Emiliano is. Fedra says he’s an actor now, making a pirate movie called 9 ½ Weeks with Tia Netty. Emanuel announces that he and Marianela are going to be married. Axel looks vaguely disgusted. Delicia is thrilled. Fedra bites her tongue. Kristel goes on a long vicious rant. Benigno defends Mari. Lorena snarks that Mari will look like a snowman all dressed in white. Axel says he can’t believe his brother is marrying some witch who’s out to ruin their family. Well, good, they all have their wedding toasts rehearsed. Marianela tells Axel he’s crazy. “Mom! Do something!” Axel yelps. So Fedra tells the servants to fetch glasses and champagne. Of course she wants to welcome Mari as a daughter-in-law! Emanuel acts like it makes complete sense that his mother now loves Marianela. Fedra puts on a big show of making peace with Mari. Marianela looks very reluctant to go along with this.
Caimán gets zipped into a body bag. The authorities demand to know who killed him. The prisoners all look away and whistle.
Axel is confused by Fedra’s sudden change of attitude. Fedra just goes on with the show. Kristel slews another torrent of size-related insults. Mari pretends she believes Fedra. Emanuel returns with a fancy box of chocolates for Mari. Kristel throws a little tantrum.
Elsewhere, Muñeca yells at Lowrenzo. She’s completely fed up with him and she’s only keeping up the farce of their marriage for Ilitia’s sake. Low asks her why she isn’t just happy. She says it’s because she hasn’t followed his example. She should have found an amante of her own. “Who would want you with that attitude?” he mutters after she leaves his office. Then the “distraction” Garduño sent arrives, in shiny tight packaging.
Em&M tell Tio Máximo that they plan to marry and want his blessing. Max says he won’t stand in the way of their happiness and they can count on him completely. But he tells them that the only hope for this house and this family is for them to refound it.
Oliver has Mauricio in the office again, and remarks on how odd it is that the report states Mauricio didn’t even know the guy who died. Mau insists he knows nothing. “I’m losing patience! Talk!” Mau reluctantly “admits” that Caimán died defending him. “There’s a price on my head in the prison, and the guy was trying to kill me.”
Poor Gretel’s hands are still tied behind her back. She’s pacing the cellar, hearing bits of Luis Felipe’s and Fedra’s argument and begging the voices to stop talking to her. Fedra comes in and asks her what’s wrong. “You’re not Fedra. You’re Juana Felipa Pérez,” says Gretel.
Avances: The pensión crowd and Ilitia get the news of the impending wedding. Kristel has some plan to get rid of Marianela forever.
Caimán – in addition to meaning alligator, is also slang for a schemer. Good nickname for our double (triple?) agent!
