Triunfo del Amor #86 4/6/11 Diseños de Doña Disturbide The Maternity Collection

Parte 1
Vic meets the new Jefe
Burnie introduces Vic to her new immediate superior. Vic asks who that would be. “Señor?” Burnie says. Vic turns, to see…..Rodolfo Padilla in all his garishly garbed glory (and he’s smoking a cigar!) Vic wants to know what the bastard is doing there. Padilla raises a hand to silence her. “Vicki, ex señora Sandoval,” says Padilla “from now on I will demand complete respect from you. I am your new boss.” Vic is understandably impactada. She turns to Burnie and asks what this is all about “¿De qué pretendes?” (Don’t be fooled by this false cognate. It really means “What are you trying to do”? Find more false friends in this Caray Caray post!) Burnie explains that it wasn’t enough to see her daughter paralyzed and bedridden for the rest of her life. Burnie says she set out to make Vic’s life impossible and she is going to do just that.

Max and María After the Bautizo
María asks Max to stop seeking her out. As he leaves Milagros tells him “you know how much I love you, but you are causing María Desamparada so much suffering!” She asks him to please stay away from her. Mark Tacher (aka Señor Dreamy) is in the crowd. Jealous Max gives him the stink eye. Milagros blesses Max and he takes his leave, but not before we are treated to a moving ballad (“Qué Sera De Ti” by Thalía. Quiero amanecer contigo amor/te necesito para estar feliiiiiiiz.) María looks back and cries. She is protectively surrounded by the people of the vecindad and led away.

Vic and Padilla Face Off
Vic tells Burnie- “If you think you are going to “obligarme” (force me/bind me…really sounds off in English), you are mistaken, madame.” She’ll do what Burnie asks, including taking orders from Padilla. Padilla thanks her and continues to call her Vicki. He’s looking forward to being her boss again and hopes things end better than the last time. He thinks they’ll end up very happy together. He leans in lasciviously. Vic whirls and slaps the stew out of him. She lets him know she’s not the same defenseless girl he took advantage of in the past. Padilla tells her she can say what she likes, but he is going to make her life a living hell for what happened to his son. Burnie is practically rubbing her hands together with malevolent glee in the background.

At Casa Sandoval
Os is talking to Fer. He says that he can’t keep it secret and in answer to Fer’s question, yes. He and her mother are no longer married. They just signed the divorce papers.

Burnie Makes Her Mark
Pip is showing Burnie the designs for the new collection. Burnie doesn’t like any of the designs. Pip is a little upset but remains calm. Burnie feels the world of fashion is very trivial and empty (banal y vacío.) Burnie says surely God thinks it’s an abomination that humans dedicate so much attention and energy to such mundane things (cosas mundanas.) Burnie begins marking Pip’s designs with the black X of spitefulness and saying “No, no, no.” She marks away and tells Vic they are missing an important market: Pregnant women. Vic and crew are a bit QTH? Pip protests, but Burnie simply says that if he won’t do it, she’ll find someone who will. Vic says that Pip is an amazing designer and that he doesn’t deserve the treatment Burnie is dishing out. Burnie reminds Vic that she owns the majority of the company…so nyah! She will treat employees any way she wants. He either designs clothes for pregnant women or “Pipino se va” (Pip goes.) Pip pipes up “Well then, Pip goes” (Pues, entonces, Pipino… se va) and attempts to leave in a snit. Vic stops him. She says they’ll present the new designs tomorrow morning. “I will personally take care of them” (Yo misma me encargaré de hacerlos.) Pip protests, but Vic again stops him. “This is more than a matter of designs. This is between Burnie and I. It’s best to leave you out of it, Pipino (es mejor dejarte fuera de esto Pipino).” Burnie gets sarcastic. “For the first time in my life I agree with you Victoria!” Vic will design the new line and will work on them until Burnie is satisfied with them. (Dear Lord, what are they going to look like? I pity the poor pregnant women of the D.F.)

Fer Rejects her Mother
“I knew it! I knew it! My mother is a self-centered person who doesn’t think I need you, Papá!” (¡Lo sabiá! ¡Lo sabía!) Fer says she never wants to see her again. She hates her! Os tries to calm her down. He tells her that just because he and Vic aren’t married doesn’t mean he’s going to grow apart from them (his children.) Fer asks if he’s sure. Of course he’s sure. He’s going to be around to take care of her. He makes a few jokes and she smiles and laughs. He promises to always be near her and to make sure she doesn’t lack anything.

And Now For Your Daily Requirement of Flahsback
Pip offers to help Vic with the designs, but Vic says she can do it. Pip apologizes for what he’s about to say, but he wonders if Vic doesn’t realize that this is just a trap Burnie is setting? Burnie isn’t going to like anything she does! (Ohhh, believe me, Pip…Vic gets it.) Vic appreciates his concern, but she has to face Burnie alone (dramatic music.) For years she was afraid of Burnie, but on this occasion, that’s not the case. Pip leaves and Vic remembers the early days. She designed, Toni sewed, the baby slept, the doll that trumps DNA watched over and protected them all. Vic stops her reverie and draws two lines on the paper. She looks very satisfied with herself (Um…Vic? Hon? I don’t think two lines is going to be enough for Burnie. Better work on that a little.)

And Now For Your Daily Requirement of Cruz
As we come upon the scene, Cruz is in the midst of the second verse of perhaps the best song of the TdA soundtrack: Mi riqueza.

Pa’ mirarte veo pa’l cielo (looking at you is like when I look to heaven)
como cuando busco a Dios(Like when I’m looking for God)
Tu existencia me da vida (Your existence gives me life)
Como el sol le da una flor. (Like the sun does for a flower)
Mi riqueza es este amor por ti (My treasure is my love for you)
Mi delirio es adorarte….. (My delirium is to adore you…definitely sounds better in Spanish)

The crowd swoons and sings along; however, I spy Nati and JuanJo together and I puke a little. We get a camera sweep of the cake and baby items. El Alacrán is pulling down the decorations. The crowd confronts him. He tells them he is in charge of the property and no one asked permission to hang decorations. The explains that they are celebrating little Isrealito’s baptism. El Alacrán explains that the owner doesn’t like parties on the property. Nati tries to intercede for the group and takes El Alacrán be the hand. The party will continue! ¡A fuego!

Burnie and Fausto
Burnie doesn’t care what he has to do, Fausto has to take someone to the Casa de Modas. All we know is she said “Es necesario que la lleves a la Casa de Moda.” Fausto protests (but I don’t catch it…despite rewinding multiple times.) Burnie assures him that this mystery person trusts him. Then she starts in with the threats. “Either you take her, or you will leave my house!”

Everybody is Dancin’ in the Street
JuanJo and Nati dance. A musical group sings. I’m sure they are well known in Mexico, but I have no idea who they are. It’s a pretty catchy tune, but it really interferes with my trying to understand what María Padre and Alonso are talking about, but I do believe they are trying to convince her that Max needs to take responsibility for the child she is carrying. The party continues. The Carpentry Crew is there (I suspect their convo is not integral to the plot at large, so I am choosing not to stress about understanding it.) Israel’s widow (Israelito’s mom) thanks JuanJo and Nati. She is sure they are great godparents (compadres.) Don Profesor makes the moves on Milagros. The ladies flirt with Napo….and someone mentions the name of the group and I still can’t make it out.

Vic Returns to her Roots
Luckily, Vic has added a bit more to the two lines she drew earlier. She has almost an entire line of maternity wear completed! She smiles at her work. She is pleased.

Party On!
More from the mystery band. Don Profesor macks on Milagros. He asks her to dance. Napo makes some wisecracks. Millie fires back. FF>>

Burnie Introduces the New Model
Hey! Doña Disturbide likes the designs! She really likes them! Now, they just need to plan a desfile to showcase the new designs. Rox volunteers Xi’s services as model, what with her being pregnant and being the star model of the empresa. (Be sure to check out Pip’s face…classic.) Burnie says they will still need another model. Toni says it’s hard to find pregnant models, but Burnie already has someone in mind. Max wonders who that would be. Burnie says she has sent for her and hopefully she won’t be long in arriving. Luci enters and whispers in Burnie’s ear. Burnie begins “I want to introduce you all to the model that will wear the new designs, but I’m pretty sure you all know her already.” The People’s Court theme begins to play and one by one the folks turn their heads to look …really, one by one. It’s like the wave…but with head turns. It’s María!! Shocked looks all around…except Pip. He waves.

Parte 2
The Aftermath After the Commercial Break
Vic has the gall to ask what María is doing there. (Vic, you aren’t in charge anymore. Better get over it.) Burnie says she’s there ‘cause she sent for her. María says she doesn’t belong here. The world of fashion doesn’t interest her (el mundo de la moda aún no me interesa.) Burnie takes María to her office so they can talk. María is a little confused. Qué the hell is Burnie doing in Vic’s office? It’s a short and sweet story and Burnie will tell her about it soon, but right now she needs María to listen to her.

Catfight in the Vecindad
The ladies are seeking out Napocito.” blah blah blah they try to sell Mille a girdle. She takes offense. FF>>

Maria Gets The Lowdown
Crazy McSchemey has arrived at the Casa de Moda (suddenly showing her pregnancy) and asks her mother what the urgency was all about. MamaRox drags her off to Max’s office. She has something major to tell her and X-factor isn’t going to believe what has just happened.

In the meantime, Max has grown weary waiting for Maria and Burnie to return. He gets up to go check on them, but Vic tells him it’s better if he just sits down and cools his Jets. Burnie just wants to stick it to Vic and she knows Maria is the way to do it… so it’s likely nothing bad is happening to Maria. Please note: Max has not noticed the baby bump.

Seems Vic is right. Burnie is just filling Maria in on the takeover. Everyone at the empresa is pretty much under he control…including Maria’s precious Maximilliano. He will take a little work to tame (me está costando mucho trabajo para domar), but Burnie knows she will manage it. No one is stronger than she is (shudder…Run Maria! Run!!)

Maria doesn’t understand “You made me come here to tell me all this? (¿Me hizo venir aquí para contarme todo esto?) No says Burnie, I brought you here because you are a fundamental part of my new project and I want to protect you and keep you near. Maria wants to know how she’s going to protect her. If Maria sticks around, (si yo me permanezco en este lugar) her pregnancy will be discovered (todos van a dar cuento de mi embarazo) and that’s exactly what she doesn’t want! (y eso es ¡precisamente lo que no quiero que suceda!) Ah but Burnie has a plan!! She has asked Vic to design a line of maternity clothes. BSCX will be one model and Maria the other. Burnie will have someone design some padding (I’m pretty sure she said “botarga” which after a quickie search is difficult to define…it’s a bit of costuming, so to speak) so everyone thinks she is not really preggers. Maria asks why Burnie is doing all this (My first question would have been “Really? You really think this is a solid plan?) Anyhoo, Burnie says first, she’s doing it all because she loves Maria so much. She wants Maria to have a good job close to her. Second, Vic doesn’t support her (Maria) and will have to deal with her (María’s) presence (real meaning: I want to stick it to Vic.) And third she’s doing it so her son can stop worrying so much about Maria and finally get back to his priestly duties. Please note: no one seems to know Maria is preggers....except Burnie.

JP and Nati
Oh dear lord the man is fine is that suit. Oh, the recap…ok, well he is just finding out that Fausto came to fetch María by order of Burnie. JP starts to leave and Nati says it seems to her that JP doesn’t like Burnie and Maria being together. She asks what that’s all about. I think he says something to the effect of one bad apple spoiling another.

Dreamy Photog works from his Arty Loft Apt
And his theme is reminiscent of 70’ quasi-romantic porn (bow chicka wow wow.) He drinks from a demitasse cup. He either likes espresso or wants to feel like a giant. Phone rings. He talks business…a cosmetic company. He’s got the perfect model!!

The Word of the Day is- Extraño
Padre Hottie is ringing a doorbell. I assume he’s at his mother’s house, but why in the world would you ring the doorbell to your own house? (Heaven knows my own Offspring just walks in!)

Fausto waits in the car on a city street. Eva walks up and asks what he’s doing there. Fausto asks the same of Eva. Eva says Burnie ordered her to show up early at Vic’s house. Fausto doesn’t understand what’s going on. It’s two days in a row, he’s had to take Burnie to the Casa de Moda . And the weirdest thing (lo más extraño) is that he had to bring Maria today. Eva wants to know what for. Fausto has no idea. Burnie doesn’t explain herself, especially not to the help. It’s all very strange (todo esto es muy extraño) and Eva wonders what Burnie is up to. Nothing good, that’s for sure.

JP has now resorted to banging on the door. How strange (qué extraño) he says. He can’t understand why no one is at home.

(If you’re keeping track-yesterday Vic used “extraño” to mean strangers. Tonight all three uses were to mean “strange.” 4 extraños/2 meanings…¡Qué extraño indeed!)

Burnie’s Baloney
Burnie tells María she needs a good job to earn decent money for when the baby is born. Burnie says she’s doing all this for Maria because she’s shown such character and dignity. Burnie reminds Maria how poorly she’s been treated by Vic just because Maria was having a relationship with Max. Vic should pay for her pride. Burnie butters up María. You’re strong, you’re independent, you’re going to make it own your own (you’re Mary Tyler Moore.) But for what? Are you going to spend the rest of your life living on charity? María bristles. She can take care of herself (Soy capaz de bastarme por mi misma.) Burnie says she’s giving Maria a chance to show prove to Vic how wrong she was. Maria wants to talk to JP first. Burnie says NO multiple times and tells Maria she doesn’t have time to talk to JP. It’s a decision that needs to be made… like yesterday. Maria accepts the offer. Burnie looks a bit like a cat well fed on canary.

Parte 3
For those in a time crunch: You could FF>> through this whole segment and really not miss a thing.
María’s Back!
And Toni and Pip are happy. Hugs all around. They all missed her (te echamos de menos…someone fill me in: that is more peninsular Spanish, isn’t it? Te extrañamos mucho would have been more Mexican wouldn’t it? ) Maria is keeping a big purse well slung to the front of her (Please note: no one has noticed she's preggers.) Toni and Pip have missed her. Maria remembers how kind they were to her. Pip shows Maria a dress. Toni tells her to try it on, but Maria refuses. She prefers to try it on alone. Toni and Pip will leave so she can try it on. Toni hands her the botarga needed to make Maria look pregnant. Ximena of course will not need one since she’s really pregnant…

...And popping pills in MamaRox’s office. MamaRox tells her to quit taking pills. Xi tells mom to chill. What are they going to do? With Maria working here, everyone is going to find out she’s pregnant…and with Max’s child! MamaRox agrees they need to do something and fast! Xi says she’s going to talk to Maria. Maria is an idiot who believes in honor and promises and moral values. Xi will take care of her.

Meanwhile Maria is ushering Toni and Pip out of the dressing room. She thought bubbles: what if they knew she didn’t need the botarga. That she really was preggers. (I don't know why she's worried. Apparently bricks have a significantly higher IQ than these people.)

A Second Helping of Cruz
Florecita…
de me vida.
Eres dueña de me amoooor.

(I'm glad Fer has recovered from David Zepeda eye.)

Te has sembrado aquí en mi pecho (you’ve planted yourself here in my chest)
dentro de mi corazón (inside my heart)

(see above for second verse)

Mi riqueza es este amor por ti….
Mi delirio es adorarte.
Como me hierve la sangre (My blood boils)
ver tu mundo tan distante (to see your world which is so far)
del que puedo darte yo. (from the one I can give you)

At the empresa we are privy to Vic’s fourth call to the Manse. She wants to know how Fer is doing. She knows Fer doesn’t want to see her, but it doesn’t matter. How is she doing? I think she tells Micaela to check on Fer every thirty minutes(?) Vic is going to call the doctor again.

Fer is crying and asking Cruz what he wants. She’s never going to be rid of him (Es que nunca me voy a poder librar de ti.) She whines about “before” when she could run away and escape. Cruz fusses about her self-pity and asks when she’s going to get over it. I’m pretty sure he gets deep and philosophical. I caught “grandmother”(abuelita) and hormiguita (little ant) and how it goes around everywhere working. Whatever he said, it got a smile out of Fer. She asks about his pueblo and what it’s like. Cruz paints a pastoral scene. I wouldn’t put it past Mejia to make a trip to Cruz’s village part of Fer’s therapy. “Throw some ranchero in, maybe it will help ratings. (side note: I just picked up a new vocab word last week when I got my haircut by my Spanish Speaking hair dresser—chino. It means curly and I just heard Cruz use it.)
Anyhoo, he continues with his pastoral reverie and I’m pretty sure Fer had to correct his grammar. (I have a little trouble understanding Cruz…I wish Julio Alemán would join the cast.)

Celos Thy Name is Millie
Millie is complaining about the Jarochas (ladies from Veracruz...but not our lovely Jarocha) JuanJo calls her on it. Just in case you FF>> be aware that a pretty flaca walks by toward the end of the scene. JuanJo takes notice. I think he’s over Linda.

And He Cooks, Too!
Meanwhile, Cruz continues to yammer on about the pueblo. He likes to sit in a tree and watch the sun come up (while he’s watching the cows.) It’s so lovely (chulo) the way the sun makes the countryside golden. Fer would love to see it. Cruz says whenever you say the word. He moves on to describe breakfast at his humble home. Hand-made (hechas a mano) tortillas…Yum! If you are on a diet FF>> I got hungry just listening to him. Fer says something and the next thing I know Cruz is running to the kitchen to fix her some vittles.

Vic and Padilla Face-Off: The Sequel
Vic needs to talk to Burnie. Padilla stops her just outside the door. Padilla says she and Burnie are not equals and she should address her as “Señora Bernarda” Vic tells him to shut it with his stupidities (estupideces) and tell Burnie she needs to talk to her and it’s important. Padilla says he’ll tell her, but Burnie has more important things to deal with. Vic is left standing in the hallway with her thoughtbubble. If it weren’t for her daughter, she wouldn’t be putting up with these humiliations.

Burnie is in her office and her cell phone rings. It’s Juan Pablo. She doesn’t want him to know yet what she’s done so she ignores the call. She asks about Vic wanting to talk to her. She says let’s let her in and see what she wants now. Padilla reminds Burnie that his son is dead and Vic’s own daughter is an invalid and it’s all Vic’s fault. He wants justice.

Burnie says it will happen (su deseo se cumplirá) and Vic will be begging on her knees for my forgiveness (me va a pedir de perdón a rodillas.) Let her in. Padilla makes a snippy remark to Vic as she enters. Vic and Burnie have a stink-eye contest.

Part 4

Pop Quiz! How do you say Photographer in español?
Toni is kvetching about Burnie. She needs a photog…like now. And none of their usual photographers can do it. Pip panics. “That witch is going to kill us.” (bruja=witch…with mix and match beginnings! B or W? Your choice!) Oscar arrives and the three of them say “photographer” numerous times. Luckily, Oscar has a photographer friend. Guess who…Alonso.

Breakfast in Bed
I miss a little of the beginning of the conversation (am I crazy…were they talking about worms?), but it quickly moves on to sweet stuff. Fer asks Cruz what he’s looking at. He says something about her being pretty. Her face falls. She doesn’t want him to talk to her like that (No me hables así.) She doesn’t want pity. Cruz disagrees. He doesn’t feel pity. She’s like a gift from heaven. She says you really see me that way? Cruz gets up and checks her back. He says there are no wings their but for me you are a true angel. Awwwwww! Seriously, Max could learn a lot from Cruz. (PS: I’m pretty sure Fab is gonna lose this fight.)

Burnie is Back in Black
Vic: Si usted piensa que con todo me ha hecho, me ha vencido…está muy equivocada. (If you think with everything you’ve done to me that you’ve defeated me, you’re wrong.)
Burnie: La equivocada eres tú. Porque yo lo único que estoy hacienda son negociosQue te hayas cruzado en mi camino, fue una mera casualidad (You're the mistaken one. I'm only doing business. That you got in the way—lit: that you crossed my path—was just a coincidence.)
Vic- No me creo. De otra manera, no había traído aquí a María Desamparada (I don't believe that. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have brought Maria Desamparada…chug, hic!...here.)
Burnie: ¿De verdad piensas que eso es una garble en tu contra? (You really think that was a decision against you? It’s driving me crazy, I’ve listened to it a squillion times so if anyone caught it, please tell me…did she say “resolución”? ) ¡Qué tonta eres! (How foolish you are!) He estado revisando los documentos de la empresa y he desubierto que cuando mas ventas tuvo fue que cuando María Desamparada era tu modela estrella. (I’ve been looking over the business reports and I discovered that you had the greatest sales when María Desamparada was your star model.) ¿Esto te lo olvidó?Have you forgotten that?
Vic: No, yo no olvido nada. Pero mis sentimientos están muy por encima de mi ambición. Por eso la despedí.  (No, I haven't forgotten. My feelings are much stronger than my ambition and that's why I fired her.)
Burine: Solo que yo no pienso como túSi compré el mayor parte de esta empresa, es para ganar. Yo no estoy acostumbrada a perrrderrrr. (I don't think like you do. If I bought the majority of this business, it was to win. I’m not accustomed to losing.)
Vic: Lo séAunque es por eso que sea capaz de cualquier vileza. (I know that. That's why you’re capable of any vile deed.)
Burnie: No sé de qué me hablas. (I don’t know what you’re talking about.)
Vic: Lo sabe. Lo sabe muy bien. Y lo sabe porque se lo he dicho muchas veces. Hablo de Gonzalo. (You know. You know very well. I’m talking about Gonzalo and the child you burned alive to avenge yourself. Sorry, echoes and the screaming child interfered with the rest of her line in Spanish. I couldn't catch the exact words.)
Burnie: Lo has repetido tantas veces que tú solita te la crees. (You've said that so much and you're the only one who believes it. Is it me, or is this the first time Vic has said this? Or did I completely misunderstand Burnie?)
Vic: No intente a minimizar la situación. Porque ahora...ahora tengo testigos. (Don't try to minimize the situation, because now...now I have witnesses!)
Burnie takes it in stride until Vic leaves. Then she stabs the desk with a letter opener and curses. Damn! If she really has witnesses she can sink me!

Cue the kayak!

Llena de Amor #164 (Mex. 190-191) Wed 4/6/11 Love Is Blindness

  1. Capitulo 190

Love is blindness
I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me
Take my heart
Love is blindness (Cassandra Wilson New Moon Daughter)

Okay, it's not Edna St. Vincent Millay, but that song started going through my head as soon as I typed the title. And Love sure is blind in this one, kinky lovemaking aside. We have a number of couples who just scream Doomed to Fail in Three Month's Time. But since this is a telenovela, we can trust everybody will stay Crazy in Love Forever. Now on to tonight's episodes.

EMAN GETS A CLUE

Emanuel, out by the pool, chuckles at how stupid he was not to realize Mari and Vicky were one and the same. But now that he knows, boy is he ever going to torture her!

FEDRA WANTS HER DUE

Our favorite villaness has stopped by the boarding house to threaten Netty. Give me every centavo Emiliano put in your name. If you don't, I'll never give him a divorce as long as I live. And I'm gonna live a long time. No way sez Netty. That dough belongs to his kids. Be content with the money you already swindled out of my niece Marianela, you trollop!

EMILIANO WANTS TO …..........

Well, mainly he wants Chema to get lost. When he arrives, our salty old sea captain is hovering very close to Netty and Emiliano asks what he's doing “so close to mi mujer”. Your “mujer”, Fedra just left a moment ago, sniffs Chema. This woman Netty is NOT yours. And takes his leave.

AXEL'S FEELING BLUE

Because Delicia brushed him off with a swish when he tried to sit beside her. { You go girl!} Unfortunately big bro' Eman sits down and tells him not to give up. Gotta “luchar” for your one and only Love and all that. { Shut up Eman. We hate this guy.}

GRETEL'S DOING TWO

Well, at least that's the impression she gives a shocked Kristel, who thinks she's going to sabotage the reconciled couple Olly and Gretel by telling sis she saw Olly kissing Manolo. No problem, laughs Gretel. We're a “menage a trois”. Making crazy sandwich love every single night. Wahoo! Great physical comedy by all three. Gretel and Oliver goofy and camp as all getout. Kristel mega Top Model Horrified. Kudos to all. Worth a rewind.

EMAN'S BEING CRUEL

He's ragging on fattie Marianela, who's anxious to get out of the fat suit and rendezvous for some nookie with el Lirio de Plata. No morning sickness for our gal. She's randy as a goat and ready for more shagging, pregnancy or no.

AND KRISTEL'S LIKE HOW COULD YOU?

Yes, our Miss Manners takes a little time to berate Eman for hovering and fussing over Mari while totally ignoring his wife. He reminds her she was the one who told him Ilitia's bun in the oven was from another baker. She maintains now this was just a joke. Ilitia could NEVER be unfaithful. She'd cut off her hand before touching that naco policeman.

CUÑADO TELL ME TRUE

So Eman grills Oliver. Are Brandon and Ilitia lovers? Olly gets out of an outright lie by saying Brandon NEVER said a thing to him about it. Right. Brandon, at least, is a gentleman...naco or no. Still, when Oliver reports back to Gretel about the questions, she vows to make like a journalist and find out the truth. Are Brandon and Ilitia lovers indeed? Our little Brenda Starr intends to find out.

SO NOW TWO ARE DUE

Yes, here we are again in Fertile Valley. Eman , convinced of Ilitia's fidelity, now ponders that he IS going to be a daddy. While Marianela simultaneously gushes to herself about her newly discovered pregnancy. Complications ahead. For sure.

ANDRÉ TAKES HIS CUE

While Doris gets in touch with her nagging side (maybe André isn't so lucky after all) and fusses at him to hurry up so they don't miss their flight, Brandon wanders into her room and finds the note on her pillow saying she's left for the weekend with her infected beau. {We also learn that the actor is well into his forties from the way he's holding the note about three feet away to read it! So sorry buddy. We know how you feel.} Then Jacqui arrives to fan the flames, claiming that André is a heartless wretch who infects women with HIV just for fun. And when they get it, he dumps 'em. Brandon immediately calls in and orders the police to intercept Doris and her criminal lover and also surround the airport. This ends badly. Outside André's apartment, Doris kicks the first officer and fells him. André adds another wallop, and they take off running. They're now guilty of assaulting a policeman. Not cool. But Doris has a backup plan for leaving the city unmolested. It involves her makeup skills naturally. Stay tuned.

ILITIA STICKS LIKE GLUE

Our scorned AlsoTop Model shadows Marianela out to the pool, accusing her of sneaking out every night to meet Emanuel. Mari denies it while fidgeting and fretting that she won't make it to her planned Love Shack fest with el Lirio. {And another song is going through my head.}

OLLY HEADS FOR THE LOO

And while he's gone Emiliano arrives with Netty and Gladiola in tow. Ready for the family dinner where he'll announce his betrothal to Ernestina Pavon Romero. But Papa is Annoyed. Because Eman's not there (Tell him I had another engagement Emanuel tells Axel). And neither is Marianela. Kristel is outraged that those two “sooooocial climbers” (trepadoras) have barged in and just where the heck is Mommy!? Emiliano explains that they can no longer live under the same roof. And as soon as the divorce is final, he's marrying Netty. And with that he gives her a bodacious beso. Everybody toasts with champagne, including Max who's arrived from the basement in full regalia. Well everybody except Ilitia, who's had her glass snatched away by her protective suegrita Gladiola. { Love it that the prospective abuelita is meddling already. Ilitia will be no match for her. That's for sure. }Anyway, a good, albeit brief PSA to not drink when pregnant.

BERNARDO'S LIKE BRAND-NEW

And living the high life. In Lorenzo's apartment. And in Lorenzo's smoking jacket (batin). Drinking Lorenzo's best cognac. Low is chapped. Fedra arrives and is equally upset. Netty's got her hub and her money. Low vows to get it back. They grapple, they fuss, they get aroused, they decide to dip into the jacuzzi, they do....or would have...except that Bernardo and Nereida got there first. While Fedra drops to the floor wailing “My eyes, my eyes!” Lorenzo fumes helplessly. Nice to see these two out-foxed and totally flummoxed by faithful lap dog Bernardo. Who has the “agallas “ to sneer --What does a person have to do to get a little privacy around here.--

AND VICKY'S LIKE WHEW!

Yes, our randy little vixen has managed to escape the mansion and hook up with el Lirio at the boardinghouse. Delicia and Gretel helped her make the change out of the fat suit. And el Lirio materialized out of nowhere as usual. On with the kinky blindfold and the incredibly boring love raptures. I need you...your skin, your kisses, your whatever. She's dreamily carping that she wants to see his face and know who he is so she can tell her best buds, Gretel, Delicia and Doris. He saucily wonders why Marianela isn't her best bud. She lies badly. He enjoys it. As well as the rest of her. { I am sooooo bored by these two.} During their interminable love-making, he wonders why she doesn't regognize his kisses. She wonders if she should tell him she's pregnant. { I say that's a great way to ruin the moment. But they didn't ask me.}

190 Vocabulary (just in case I poop out and don't feel like doing it later)

un batin= smoking jacket (used to be Lorenzo's now it's Bernardo's)
no comas ansias = don't worry (Emiliano to his family)u
hazme caso = André, worried that Doris doesn't understand the seriousness of assaulting an officer

Neta? Netissima! = Really? Yes, REALLY! (Olly assuring Eman Brandon told him nothing)
trepadora = social climber ( a word used at least 70 times in any telenovela ever made)
agallas = guts as in “having the guts to do something”

Dicho of the Day
Ser muy listo(a); ser muy vivo(a) To have a lot on the ball; to be very bright
Candidates anyone? Delicia maybe. Fedra in her own cunning way. Otherwise...a very short list.

Episode 191 THE BEST LAID PLANS WILL GET YOU PREGNANT

On the back stretch now but this old nag is losing ground. The York Mint Pattie stash has been exhausted and I'm relying on Trident gum to get me through this last slog. And dreading my next Near Death Encounter with the dentist.

GRETEL AND OLIVER UP IN A TREE, K.I.S.S.I.N.G.

Actually they're out by the pool, still trying to make up for lost love time and Netty trips out to tease them about their smooching. And kvetch that Fedra will never let her and Emiliano be happy. Gretel happily announces that she has the proof Dad's marriage is a fraud and it will all work out.

TIRESOME LOVE DRIVEL

Masked Marianela wants to know why el Lirio won't abandon everything for her. She's clearly in a nesting mode now. He maintains he must continue his noble work as long as the poor and needy require it.

THESE BOOTIES ARE MADE FOR WALKING

Ilitia, redemption casting a soft glow on her already lovely face, is entranced with the plain little white socks from the market that Gladiola has brought. Chuck'em out! sneers Kristel. Cheap “naquerimada botitas”...how could you ever?.....oooooh, I get it. She gave you those 'cause she's your suegrita. That baby is naco-bred and built. Don't expect me to keep THIS secret Miss Best Friend Forever! Well, okay...maybe I'll keep the secret if you use your fashion world influence to make me the biggest brashest Top Model ever. Deal.

WHO SAID LOVE KEEPS YOU YOUNG?

André and Doris are sneaking through the airport disguised as mega-old folks. Doris' mouth looks really bloody and unnatural. Plus if they were in such a hurry to make their flight, how did they have time to stage that elaborate make-up and dredge up old folks costumes? Whatever. The ruse fails when Doris sneezes and her nose falls off. Brandon hauls them both off to jail, while protesting to an enraged Doris that he loves her and wants the best for her. And André isn't it. She rails that he's acting like her dad. And he's not. Though he helped raise her from the age of 15 when her own dad took off. Stalemate. The cells are chock full of Llena de Amor actors again.

MORE DRIVEL

Marianela is still hectoring el Lirio (They're at the boardinghouse by the way. No need to escape to Love Shack since nobody's home.) She wants more of him. Not just these nightly lust encounters. And she has marvelous news for him. At least she hopes he thinks it's marvelous.

Okay. You know what's coming, right? She keep circling around the subject, never actually telling him she's preggers until Consuwaila , home for a quick change before heading back to hospital, knocks at the door. El Lirio disappears. And still doesn't know he's got his own little masked bun in the oven.

IT'S NOT YOU, IT'S ME. WELL, ACTUALLY IT IS YOU. SO GET LOST.

And re-appears down below as Eman. Vicky is cold and dismissive. She's moved on. You can't, you're my woman! protests Eman. I have a new novio, she sneers. And you don't measure up to him at all. (Okay Emanuel. You're getting a clear view of her character. Sleeps around with masked guys. And is hatefully dismissive with old lovers. Like what you see?)

THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Netty, Glad and Oliver are on their way home from the celebratory dinner at the mansion. Emiliano wanted to accompany them but why worry! Olly's along. Except he's no help when the trio is assaulted outside the boarding house by four black-clad thugs (Fedra, Lorenzo, Bernardo and Mauricio). Fedra, with a little salute to cleavage, has a keyhold bodice to her outfit. The guys have all covered their manly chests. Lots of banging and shrieking and inside, Emanuel stands there unmoving, a total doofus, saying -Uh duh, what's happening?

Netty has been kidnapped, that's what's happening!

Meanwhile, Vicky, showing more ugly traits of character, assails Emanuel for his skanky murderous mother and claims it's all HIS fault for descending from those loins. (Do women have loins? Well, whatever.) Eman's not sure this assault is mom's fault but if it is...he vows to set things straight. Still, he thinks José Maria might be responsible for this crime. CommisarioTejada, another lovable but useless doofus, is alerted and on his way. Meanwhile, Oliver nurses his bloody nose and Glad laments that just when Netty's life was about to change for the better, this happens.

Chema arrives {“hablando del rey de Roma” speak of the Devil} and swears he'd never do such a thing. But Fedra would. Anything for money.

I'M AN ACTRESS....I'M POOR!

Is this a PSA for better salaries? Anyway, Netty is tied to a chair in some dark dingy place wailing that she has no money for ransom. It's all Emiliano's money. Which he gave to her until he could divorce that witch he's married to. Meow! Fedra's having fun channeling Cat Woman, purring and scratching Netty while fantasising about blowing her away with bullets then and there. Faithful lap dog Bernardo has a Doggie mask, very apt. Lorenzo is a Pig (dead on) and Mauricio, once again inflamed with lust, this time for helpless Netty, appears as a Rat.

The gang is bickering. Fedra's in kill mode. Bernardo is arguing that they can negotiate better terms if Netty is alive. Like turning over not only all the cash but also the mansion and everything in it.

CONSUWAILA AGAIN

Yep, our eternal metiche walks in the wrong door again. This time when Gladiola is frantically trying to transform nasty Vicky into increasingly nasty Marianela by wrestling her back into the fat suit. Ungrateful Vick is complaining that Doris isn't there when she needs her. Glad leaves. Consuelo stays. Mari swears Cons to secrecy while observing that Consuela hated her as Vicky, but loved her as a dear friend when Marianela. Big hug.

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

While Consuela and Mari hug upstairs, Gretel arrives downstairs and announces excitedly that she thinks she knows where the kidnappers have taken Netty.

AND MARIANELA GETS PUT IN HER PLACE

Our fattie, still in nasty Vicky mode, tromps downstairs to berate Emanuel for his origins. And how dare he pretend to be as upset over Netty's disappearance as she!? Netty is NOT his blood. But I love her dearly, whimpers Emanuel. Papa Emiliano steps in and reproves Mari for her shoddy treatment. He's trying to support you. And he's a good man. Don't treat him that way. He doesn't deserve it. Have you forgotten all the love that united you?

WORSE THAN A DOG

Yep, that's how Marianela has been treating him, observes Emanuel. { And given the average dog's treatment in Mexico, that's a serious complaint.} They were good friends long before they were lovers. Can't they at least go back to being friends again?

Marianela admits that in her thirst for vengeance (Forgiveness PSA) she's become a “hard woman” (ya' think?). And what's more she's in love with another man. But she can't tell him who it is. And there we end. Whew.

Internet Previews:
Emiliano wants Emanuel to run upstairs and get Victoria. Marianela panics....and says no no, I'll go.

Vocabulary:
tener buen puestos los pantalones = to be the man of the house, to be a straight-shooting upright guy (Oliver talking about Brandon)
embaucar = trick, con
de por medio = at stake, at issue Netty, talking about the stumbling block of money in Emiliano's divorce proceedings.
bendito(a) adj. = darned, danged, friggin' as in “esta bendita puerta!” a softer version of “maldito(a) which would be “damned”
eso que ni que = sure, of course
checar la cartelera = check the listings (for airline flights) Doris to André
hablando del rey de Roma = speak of the Devil....(and he appears)

Dicho of the Day

Todo por servir se acaba. All things wear out if you use them. And Lord! My patience is wearing out with these double recaps! How about yours?

La Fea Más Bella #285-286 4/6/11 Wedding Plans Sealed With a Kiss. A Kiss of Death?

Capitulo 285.
Read Amanda’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Jax tells the board they need to take advantage of the publicity opportunities. Fernando studies his business techniques. The board discovers that the media got a copy of the tape. Ali cons Celso into impersonating her doctor on the phone.

  .

  .

2. Fern overhears Aldo talking about the wedding and he snaps. He interrupts them, throws a jealous fit, and tells them to stop talking about the wedding, then he uses the Aurora disappearance for an excuse. Aldo’s sidewalk chalk tantrum was just the warm-up. Today’s tantrum is the main event. He yells and waves his arms, then he plays dirty. He says Fern only ever cared about the company and the presidency and money, whereas Aldo cares about love and marriage. He grabs Lety like he’s sweeping his poker winnings off the table, and gives a self-satisfied smile. I think he says, “Dolió? (Did that hurt?)”

3. Fernando is cornered and frustrated. Lety is supposed to be impressed by his lofty priorities, but instead she’s worried about how all this is hurting Fernando. The men fight some more. Lety tries to play the middle. She says both things are important. She tells Aldo to be quiet but he insists on getting the last word in. She is not impressed.

4. Fern remembers the Aurora kiss. He imagines Lety rebuking him for falling in love with Aurora. She says, “Didn’t you learn your lesson? I’m going to marry Aldo, and the cause was your lies.”

5. Aldo tells Lety that Fern has always been a mujeriego, and Lety jumps to his defense.

6. The reporters gang up on Fern and twist his words. Lety faints and Fern throws the reporters out. Aldo says that obviously Aurora is the right woman for Fern (7 times). Aldo leaves. Fern starts to swear that he’s not involved with Aurora. Lety solemnly says, “I do believe what you say, Don Fernando.”

7. Jax calls. Fern hears Aurora’s voice and comes out looking for her. Jax tells Aurora to not leave her home.

8. Cristina Maiz invites Conceptos to do the campaign for DIF Nuevo Leon. They video conference and accept. Luigi thinks about families and gets misty.

9. Omar gives Caro the necklace and runs away without letting her talk.

10. Lety overhears while Fern wrestles alone at his desk. He tells Lety, “I swear I love you, and I thought I’d never find another woman. But Aurora’s gotten to the bottom of my heart. I can’t stop thinking about her since that kiss. Forgive me. I’m betraying what I promised you.” Lety can’t let Fernando suffer like this. She wipes off her unibrow and mustache, takes out her braces, and says to Fernando, “Come out please. I want to tell you the truth.”

Capitulo 286.
Read kFuegl’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

I'm sorry this summary got so long. The episode was packed with content and I couldn't bear to skip anything.

Fern can’t bear to talk to Lety. He leaves the office without looking at her. Lety repents of her decision.

Aldo invites Lety to go meet Carmaniac about the yacht, so there won’t be misunderstandings. L: I’m really tired and I’m not motivated to go (no tengo animo) A: (whiney) It’s our wedding. L: You’re right, but the truth is, no tengo ganas (I don’t feel like it). Aldo necks with Lety’s hand and she gives a polite smile, like when you go to the 3rd grade neighbor’s violin recital.

Irma notes that tonight’s moon is the kind that brings emotions to the surface.
Lety remembers when Fernando told her that Aurora has gotten deep into his heart (Cap 285).
Aldo remembers when Lety told him, “No tengo ganas” about the wedding plans.

MamaJ is angry that Fernando kissed Aurora like that, after he told her how he was suffering for Lety. See the transcript. Lety admits she’s Aurora, so MamaJ won’t think bad of Fernando. Lety tells about her feelings for both.

Fernando tells Marcia that he’s suffering because Aurora disappeared. See the transcript. Fern says that kissing Aurora is like kissing Lety, and being with her would be a good substitute.

Carmina tells Aldo that if Lety isn’t interested in the wedding, he should take the clue. Aldo says, “I love Lety and I plan to marry her (note wording). Unless Lety demonstrates that she doesn’t love me.” (Did I get that right?)

MamaJ tells Aldo, “You need to leave Lety so she can be happy with Fernando.” Aldo: I thought you liked me. J: It’s not that I don’t like you. A: Then you like Mendiola more? Aldo keeps interrupting her to make sure that she can’t explain herself, then he leaves despite her protests.

Caro can’t figure out what Omar’s feeling. Omar mopes around, depressed. Marcia asks, isn’t he going to fight for Caro’s love?

Aldo tells his dad he’s depressed. He’s starting to think that maybe Lety doesn’t love him.

Fernando is mad about the gossip media spreading lies about him (that’s a scene Camil has played countless times!). They wonder who started the rumor. Cut to Jacques twirling his mustache.

Lety tells Fern that what upsets him upsets her. He thinks Aurora disappeared because of that kiss. He says, “I’m sure that my kiss – because you do know how I kiss – well Aurora was moved by it. (Smoke is coming out of my TV.) And she has a novio. It’s obvious that I (XG, perhaps it’s ‘got her excited’). Lety says to herself, “That kiss made me doubt. It scared me. I felt like it threatened my relationship with Aldo.” Lety tells Fern that Aurora’s not coming back. He says, “Don’t say that. I could fall in love with her.”

Aldo takes out his frustration on Fernando, “What did you say to Julieta to make her prefer you over me? Why does she want Leticia to marry you?” Fern says, “I didn’t say anything. We’ve gotten along well, for a long time.” Aldo says, “You can kiss up to Julieta as much as you want, but Lety’s going to marry me!” (El burro hablando de orejas!)

Spanish Lesson, Lety and Julieta

L: What’s bothering you, Mama?
J I’m sick of thinking about the kiss Fernando gave that Aurora
L: It’s just a TV show. Even though it was acted very well.
J: That kiss looked very real.
L: Yes. But why does it bother you, whether that kiss was real or not?
J: Because it did. So there!
L: Well, it wasn’t real. So there! It was a TV show between Fern and that Aurora.
J: You’re wrong! Because I saw how much DonF deceived me.
L: Why?
J: DonF told me he was crazy in love with you. And he told me how much he suffers because you’re not interested in him and you’re involved with Aldo. But he sure forgot quickly, didn’t he? And now he’s involved with that Aurora. Don Fernando is a traitor. He’s a bad person. I regret that I ever believed in him, count on it!
L: No, mama. DonF isn’t guilty for anything. Because the guilt is mine, Mama, and nobody else’s.

(next scene)
L: It’s true, Mama. I’m Aurora. I’m telling you because I don’t want you to think badly of DonF for my fault. I’m serious, Mama. I’m Aurora.
MamaJ: (giggling.) You? You want me to believe that you’re Aurora? Just so I don’t think bad of DonF.
L: Mama, I am Aurora.
J: You? … (smiling widely) You kissed Don Fernando? (not vice-versa!)
L: YES! (even wider smile)
J: (shocked) Then, mija, you’re deceiving Aldo!
L: I swear, Mama, I’m not for the world considering canceling my wedding with Aldo! (Mama never said she was. She protesteth too much!)
J: That kiss Aurora gave DonF made you doubt again, no?
L: Yes! I know there’s still something. I still love him. But what’s more, after the kiss DonF told me, when he kissed Aurora, he felt like it was me!!!
J: Pobre Don Fernando!
L: Hey! I’m suffering too, and I’m your daughter! I accept that, I’ve never succeeded in forgetting him. But I love Aldo. He’s .. um, um, (be patient, I’m sure I’ll come up with something)
J: The only solution is to tell them both that you’re Aurora. As much to DonF as to Aldo.
L: No, I can’t. Aldo would never forgive me. And he’s right. I was wrong to use Aurora to teach Omar a lesson. It’s also bad that Aurora had to kiss DonF.
J: Lety, you were very angry when he deceived you, when he used you. Don’t you realize you’re doing the same thing? You’re deceiving them both. Do you accept that you’ve done bad? .
L: You’re right. But I’ve decided. Aurora won’t appear ever again. (Hey, Tutz! That’s just hiding your sin. It’s not repentance and it’s not restitution.) All I want is for you not to be mad at me.

Spanish Lesson, Fernando and Marcia

F: In the program, I kissed Lety, right?
M: WHAT? LETY????
F: No! Aurora. I kissed .. “her.” And I had the sensation that I was kissing LETY! Obviously Aurora isn’t anything like Lety. I think I had the sensation, because I miss Lety so much, and I kissed la otra, my Leticia Padilla Solis.
M: You’re a sick man, Fernando.
F: No, I’m not so bad. What’s more, what I’m thinking now is, I’m not going to have Lety because she’s going to marry Aldo. At least I could like to be close to Aurora.
M: Because when you kiss her, you feel like it’s Lety, is that why?
F: Yes. See, I’m not doing so bad. It’s like a dream come true.

Spanish Words You Thought You Knew

Lately I’ve been thinking about “misknown” Spanish words – words we think we know, but what we “know” is wrong. The classic misknown word is embarazada. It sounds like it means embarrassed but it actually means pregnant. What started my pondering was the word cínico. WordReference.com defines it as cynical, but in telenovelas it never seems to mean that. I am posting the most common misknown words I can think of. Do you know any others? I’d love to hear yours. Who knows? Maybe you’ll post one that I’ve misknown all along!

Cínico. I don’t think English has a corresponding word. Cínico is sort of the flip side of gullible. When you are cínico, you tell a lie that is very obviously a lie, but you believe that your listener is so gullible that he’ll believe you, and you insist your lie is true. The following sentences would earn the response, “No seas cínico (Don’t be cínico)!” In English we’d probably answer, “Do you think I’m a fool?”
  • The dog ate my homework. Really!
  • I mailed the check two weeks ago. It must be lost in the mail.
  • It’s not my weed, Mom. I was just holding it for my friend.

Tener razón. The words literally mean to have reason, but it’s used as an idiom and it means to be right. So “Tu papá tiene razón” means “Your father is right.”

Mal educación. Educación can mean education, but it can also mean upbringing. So to say that something is de mal educación, it means that it is bad manners or rude. It’s milder than grosero. Mal educación is comparable to the English “That’s not polite,” while grosero is comparable to “That’s rude!” You can also use buen educación to say someone has good manners.

Enamorarse. In this one, a lot depends on how the object pronoun (me, te, se) is used. It can mean to fall in love, but it can also mean to cause another person to fall in love with you. I don’t think English has a word for that second meaning, but telenovelas are full of beautiful evil women who are determined to FORCE the galán to fall in love with them, whether he wants to or not.

Just yesterday I came across another one on an old recap. Disgusto means misfortune, not disgust. Now it's your turn. Can you think of any misknown words?

Eva Luna #106 Tue 4/5/11 More lies revealed, new lies told. Daniel ends up in the wrong bed.

Eva Luna, Episode 106
April 5, 2011
More lies revealed, new lies told. Daniel ends up in the wrong bed.

I know, I got the recap up earlier this time! I may have missed a few details here and there, especially at the beginning. But I hope I got most of it!

Lileach barges into Leo's office and tells him about Icky found her at Daniel's place and was her typical crazy self. Leo is outraged.

Icky overhears the doctor and Don Julio talk about her condition. She hears the doctor say that she needs treatment at a medical facility. But she doesn't hear the part about how they are going to ask Daniel and Eva to drop the charges, because Ictoria is sick and needs help. She doesn't hear Don Julio's comments about how he loves her and now he can help her. She thinks that they're going to leave her to rot and eventually she'll end up in a loony bin or in jail.

Icky overhears her dad talking about what a nutcase she is. (Click to see larger image.)

Gallo visits Marcella in jail. She wants his help.

Renata wants to talk to Don Julio. Don Julio tells Renata that he promised Don Ricardo that he wouldn't bother Justa or Don Ricardo, since she's chosen Don Ricardo. But Renata has something else to tell him.

Marcela is telling Gallo that she wants out of jail. She'll pay him with some jewels she's got saved. She wants out SOON. Gallo looks knowingly in that Gallo-esque way.

Gallo visits Marcela in jail and they plot together.  (Click to see larger image.)

Deborah tells Eva that she doesn't know who is the baby daddy of Alicia's baby. The only thing she knows is that he's somehow attached or married.

Icky thinks that Don Julio is going to have her locked up, so she takes off in a car.

Renata admits to Don Julio that she and Marcela didn't pick up Icky from an orphanage, but she was stolen. Don Julio had always thought that Icky was adopted. "No, she was stolen from her mother at the time of her birth," Renata admits. Don Julio is of course impactado.

Renata admits that Marcela threatened her if she told anyone about the baby-napping. She also confesses tearfully that she was actually the one who stole the kid!

Renata in tears. (What is with her makeover?) Click on image to see larger version.

Lileach convinces Leo that she'll find a way to destroy Eva's trust in Daniel.

Don Julio blows up at Renata, castigating her for the baby napping. Finally Renata admits all of it—Icky is Justa's and his kid! Don Julio is beyond impactada.

Justa is looking at the newspaper about Marcela being in jail and saying basically, it couldn't happen to a better person.

Don Julio asks Renata, how could she do this? She says she was poisoned by jealousy and bitterness. She then let herself be convinced by Marcela to go along with the plot.

She begs for forgiveness, but an angry Julio says that his daughter grew up with him around, but that it's Justa that she needs to apologize to—she's the one who was robbed of her kid!

Lileach greets Daniel when he comes home. She tries to claim she was so bored waiting for him. He corrects her and says he knows she visited Leo at his office that day.

Tia Tilde is fussing over Alicia as she puts her to bed. They talk about how she's got to eventually tell Eva who the baby daddy is.

Tia comforts Alicia. (Click on image to see larger version.)

Lileach spins some BS line about seeing Leo to get paid for her modeling job. She then offers to help him relax with a drink. She puts some special telenovela powder in his drink. Uh oh. Foolish, trusting Daniel drinks it. She speaks to him of more BS and moves on him, but he doesn't seem at all persuaded. He shakes his head and smiles indulgently at her moves, but unfortunately he drinks what she has to offer.

Foolish, trusting Daniel drinks Lileach's spiked drink. (Click on image to see larger version.)

Laurita is visiting Adrian. They are talking about Francisco and Jackie's pathetically stupid love life. They're going to help out.

Lileach calls Eva to ask her for a favor. She needs her to come over to talk "woman to woman." Oh retch!

A crazy Icky bursts into Leo's office.

Lileach tells Jackie that she's expecting Eva. Jackie wants to pick up some laundry but Lileach will take care of it. I guess she wants Jackie outta there.

Icky appeals to Leo about her sad situation but Leo just wants her the heck outta there too. But he seems interested when she tells him that Lileach is her accomplice in trying to bump off Eva.

Eva comes over to see Lileach and into the bedroom. As expected, there is a buck naked (well, buck naked under the sheets, we are led to believe) Daniel in bed. Eva looks impactado. (I was going through an old episode of Eva Luna today, cleaning it off of my DVR—Jan 11 episode—and we had the same scenario, but with Eva and Leo. You know the one where Leo drugs her and then takes photos of himself in bed with her? And this has been done twice on Llena de Amor that I know of, right? Is this some sort of telenovela custom?)

Right on time: Eva comes in to see a naked, drugged Daniel in bed. (Click on image to see larger version.)

Eva gets out of there pronto, with Lileach close behind.

Leo is now saying he doesn't believe Icky, but she's saying no, Lileach was helping her out! She outlines more details of what happened and how Lileach did to help. Leo looks like he's starting to believe.

Eva figures that Lileach brought her over just to see Daniel and bed. Eva has tears in her eyes. Lileach insists that "one thing led to another" and that it wasn't planned. "Now you can see that Daniel also loves me" Lileach says. Eva is upset and furious and gets out of there.

Icky is ranting more to Leo. He gives her money for a motel and he wants to be rid of her. She keeps trying to appeal to him. Finally he snaps and tells her off. He's tired of all her crazy. Then he really does it. He tells her that they're not even related!

Leo is a cold S.O.B. (Click on image to see larger version.)

Don Julio calls the police to warn them about Icky. He wants their help. He asks that they go easy on her when the find her and not hurt her. She's sick, he says. The police guy agrees to help.

Eva is crying in her room and lamenting how she ever could believe in Daniel.

Icky is crying and in shock at the thought that she's adopted. He just wants her outta there. He is trying to push her out the door. He tells her she's useless and bodily throws her out of his office. Man, that's cold. But hey, she was trying to kill Eva, and he considers that unforgivable.

An unsympathetic Leo kicks out Icky. She won't leave without a struggle. (Click to see larger version.)

Renata has come to visit Marcela in jail.

Laurita has returned home. Francisco has brought her. He's tired and takes off. Laurita wants to see her dad. But Lileach spins some crap to dissuade her.

Marcela tells Renata that she's gonna get her. Renata replies that she's not afraid. She also says that Marcela ruined her long ago, when she convinced her to turn against her own sister. She tells Marcela that she's told Don Julio everything.

Tia Tilde wants to know why Eva is crying. She tearfully says that Daniel's been playing with her, that he's a liar, how he claimed to love her but there he was, in Lileach's bed. All this pain she feels makes her realize that she still loves him. Then Leo comes in and wants to know what's up.

I love Tia's expression here. (Click to see larger version.)

Daniel wakes up still naked in bed, with Lileach naked next to him, and looks around, completely befuddled.

A befuddled Daniel awakes to find himself in bed with Liliana. (Click to see larger image.)

Leo persists—what's going on? Eva says nothing, don't worry. Tia explains that Eva's upset about Alicia having been in the hospital because she fainted. Leo is interested about this. Tia leaves to get Eva something. Then Eva tells Leo that Alicia is pregnant.

Daniel is still confused. Lileach tries to fill in the wrong blanks. We made love, she says. He doesn't remember anything.

Eva tells Leo that she doesn't know who the baby daddy for Alicia's baby is. She's thinking it's so strange. She doesn't know who the dad could be.

Eva telling Leo about Alicia's pregnancy. (Eva looks baked here, for some reason!) Click on image to see larger version.

Daniel says he's sorry for what "she says" happened between them. You know I love Eva, he says, as he hastily dresses. She tries to put the guilt on him as he looks tormented and confused. "Just remember that I'm giving you the chance to start over with my love" she says. He can't get out of there fast enough.

Daniel hastily dresses and gets outta there. (Click to see larger image.)

Leo is in Alicia's room and wakes her up. He tells her he heard what happened. "I know you wanted to protect our son" he says. "I'm glad everything is fine. Soon we'll tell everyone but for now let's keep quiet." She looks queasy at this suggestion, but reluctantly agrees.

The secretary friend of Bruno's cousin is on the phone, hearing some distressing news. She heard from a friend vacationing in Florida that Bruno and cousin are dead. It was on TV news down there. She tells Giorgio about this.

Daniel's back at work talking with his secretary. She asks him if he heard about Alicia's passing out at work. He wants to ask more about it and rushes out to ask Eva about it.

The secretary-friend of Bruno's cousin tells Giorgio that the cousin always suspected that Marcela knew about Bruno and her (cousin). Giorgio starts to get an "aha" look on his face.

At Justa's pension, Renata comes to the door and has something very important to tell her.

Daniel visits Eva's office. She's acting hostile.

Lileach visits Leo in his office. He descends upon her and pushes her to the couch. He looks like he's choking her. He confronts her about her attempts to do in Eva.

Leo doesn't mess around and he is seriously vexed with Liliana. (Click to see larger image.)

Daniel wants to know what's bugging Eva. She says that every time she starts to trust him, he disappoints her. He can't figure out what she means. So she asks him plainly: "Who were you in bed with last night?" He looks impactada.

End of episode!

Eva confronts Daniel and he looks soooooo busted. (Click to see larger image. It's really BIG!)
I will try to get some clips up in the morning or early afternoon. (I know, you hear that from me and sometimes I don't! LOL.) But I got a head start on the recapping this time so hopefully I'll feel up for some clip-making in the morning.

Another thing while I've got everyone here: I'm planning on making a fan video (fan-made music video) set to Eva Luna. I hope to get it done within a week (don't know yet). I may use one of the songs to the Eva Luna soundtrack (which I just got today from Amazon.com). I'll post a link to the video when it's done.

This is my last recap for Eva Luna and I want to say how fun it's been and what a great TN Eva Luna has been, even with its telenovela drops and Dan the Idiot Man and so forth. I loved it! And all the fellow recappers and everyone who contributed to each recap discussion have been wonderful. We have a great group here!

Llena de Amor #163 (Mex. 188-189) Tue 4/5/11 Fedra’s out, but there’s a new family member.

Episode 188. 1+1=3. Or is that 2+2=5?
University: Gretel and Oliver chat and smooch on a bench until Delicia joins them, looking downcast. They figure she must have failed her exam and hasten to assure her that this is a temporary setback; they’ll help her study and she’ll ace it next time. Fakeout! Delicia breaks into a grin and tells them she did awesomely. Cheers and happiness. Axhole rains on this parade simply by showing up. He congratulates Delicia and she returns a cold glare. He wants to join their celebration, but she says no. Delicia and Oliver skip off and Gretel tells Axhole to give Delicia time; everything will work out.
Hospital waiting room: Sad-faced Doctor Arnaldo tells Conswailer, Netty, and Gladiola that Javier’s tests look great and he can probably go home in a few days. Netty asks why he looks so down, then. Doc A stiffly congratulates her on her engagement and leaves on the verge of tears. Glad and Consuelo remark that she’s breaking hearts left and right, while they’ve got no galáns at all. Con says she’s going after Brandon, and Gladiola had better not get in the way. Glad says I’m not the problem, he’s just not that into you. They wonder why Netty seems so gloomy. She says she just doesn’t want to get excited until everything’s settled and she and Emil are good and married.
Agency: Jose Maria visits Emiliano and proposes a gentlemen’s pact, since he’s so honorable. He’s throwing his hat in Netty’s ring. Emil finds this preposterous. “Netty and I are engaged, so get out.” “But you’re not even divorced yet, so all’s fair.” “Fine, whatever, if you win her over, I’ll respect that, but if she sticks with me, you are going to disappear.” Deal.
Mansión de Mucho Maldad: Mauricio tells Ilitia he did her a favor knocking her up. Husband-trap, yay! “My baby is Emanuel’s, and you disgust me!” Malicio smarms that she wants him BAD. He grabs her. Ilitia tries to shake him off and tells him not to hurt her; she’s pregnant. He thinks that’s hot. As they continue to struggle, he clamps a hand over her mouth and drags her away.
Javi’s hospital room: Javi teases Marianela about being in love with El Lirio. She says she just got carried away, he’s such an awesome dude and all, and besides, kissing through a mask doesn’t count. Lirio thinks she was rather overaffectionate, considering she just met him. Mari says she’s heard so much about him from others. Javier offers to cover his eyes so they can smooch some more. Mari is totally flustered and tries to leave, but Lirio stops her and holds her hands. Does she like him? Mari says she was just really excited to finally meet him, because Vicky is so in love with him, and especially after what happened… “After what?” Mari flashbacks to Love Shack, Braille Edition, but tells him she means the way he saved Javi. Lirio says Mari is so pretty and sweet, she probably has a novio or husband, anyway. “No, I’m single,” Mari says. “Oh, REALLY?” Oh, wait, she remembers that she is married. “You forgot you have a husband?” Mari suddenly remembers she has something really important to do somewhere else.
Snakemobile: Malicio drives, Ilitia cries and protests. Mau tells her the whole family will be together now, but the brat had better be a boy; he doesn’t want a girl. “Since when do you want kids?” Malicio says his biological alarm clock is ringing. Funny, it sounds like a death toll to me.
Hospital men’s room: El Lirio locks the door and unmasks. Emanuel remembers his convos with Netty, when she gave him lavish hints about Mari and Vicky.
Hospital corridor: Consuelo and Mari discuss Javier’s miracle save and how awesome El Lirio is. Eman sees them and hides around a corner. He hears Mari say “I’m so confused, I’m so attracted to him, when I see him I just want to kiss him…” Eman pops out and asks her who she wants to be snoozling.
Agency break room: Doris dashes out the back door when she hears Andre and Jackie approach, fighting as usual. Jackie wants to move in with Andre. He yells that he’s been very clear that he’ll be her friend and support her through the medical issues, but he doesn’t love her and they will not be a couple. “Because you’re in love with Doris?” “Well, yes. I am truly, madly, deeply in love with her.” Jackie storms out. Doris comes in, excited that he really loves her. Hugs. Andre says he really is, which is why he’s going to stay away from her.
Hospital corridor: Eman snuggles against Mari, teasing her about cheating on Jorge. She says he’s hardly one to talk, married to Ilitia and telling the whole world in court that he’s Vicky’s lover. He clarifies that he said in love, not lover. Mari says he thinks all the ladies are after him, but she’s happily married and Vicky is in love with someone else. “Who?” Mari won’t tell. Eman wonders how happy her marriage can be, since Jorge cheated on her with Vicky. In fact, he thinks the whole marriage is fake.
Home office: Emiliano gives Fedra the divorce papers. Special bonus offer, if she signs now, she gets every last centavo he has. Fedra plays along and says he must be really desperate to be rid of her, to be so generous. She takes the pen and scrawls across the paper. Emil can hardly believe his luck. And for good reason; he looks and sees that she wrote “Fedra estuve aqui” (Fedra was here), with a frowny face after. She says she’s not an idiot. She knows he gave everything to Netty.
Hospital corridor: Mari tells Eman he’s wrong. Jorge was super remorseful, she forgave him, and now their marriage is better than ever. Eman says he’s going to find out all her secrets. Maybe check and find out whether the marriage is actually registered. She tells him not to be such a busybody. Why does he care? He grabs her braids and says she doesn’t look at Jorge with love, the way she looks at him. Eman goes for a kiss. Denied.
Home office: Fedra tears up the divorce papers. Emil tells her she’s not stealing more money from the family. He’s getting the divorce whether she signs or not. Fedra says she doesn’t negotiate with poor people, so he’ll have to send Netty over to talk. Fedra rabidly rages that she’ll get all the money, including the change in his pockets and Netty’s pensión, too.
Hospital corridor: Mari denies she’s in love with Emanuel. He pins her against the wall and nuzzles and sexy-talks. Mari says she’s fed up with this. He says he is, too – the lies, the disguises, having to hide in order to love. Doesn’t she feel the same way? He aims to kiss her, but she faints.
Mau’s Snakepit: Kristel practices her sexiest strut in the bedroom, and preps for seduction. Candles, check. Lingerie that will give him a heart attack, check. (We wish.) She hears Ilitia yelling from the parlor. “Let me go! Don’t hurt me!” “You know you want it!” “Leave me alone! You creep! Don’t make me lose the baby!” Mau pushes Ilitia onto the sofa and etc. and says he’s going to have his way with her. After all, they belong together, especially now that they’re expecting a baby. “It is NOT your baby! I’m two months along, and you raped me on my wedding day way before that!” Kristel has heard enough. She joins them, business end of Mau’s gun leading the way, and threatens to shoot him.
Hospital corridor: Eman can’t wake Mari and calls for help. Doris runs up and shoves him away and won’t let anyone but a doctor touch her.
Mansión de Mucho Misery: Fedra’s drinking and insulting Emil’s poverty. He calls the servants and tells them to throw out all Fedra’s stuff; she’s leaving today. Fedra cackles and tells them to throw out HIS stuff, because HE’s leaving today. She says he may have fooled everyone else into thinking he’s somebody, but she’s always known he’s a nobody, and soon Netty will realize that as well. She’ll find he’s no great shakes in the sack (the staff looks scandalized), and she’ll take up with one of her many suitors, and he’ll never be any the wiser because he never knows when he’s being cheated on.
Fedra refuses to leave, and says she’s going to bring Low over here for their rolls in the moldy hay. Emil calls her a ramera. She throws her drink in his face and smashes the glass. Emil slaps her so hard she crashes into the piano. Wait, that piano makes sound? I thought Fedra had the strings removed so Axel couldn’t play it.
Hospital exam room: Doc Arnaldo checks Mari and asks Doris what’s up with the fat suit. Doris explains it all. Arne agrees to keep the secret.
Snakepit: Kristel says she was a fool to love Mau and believe his lies. It is OVER. He is going to regret being a rapey snake. He says the two of them will be the ones to regret this. He tries to sweet-talk Kristel but she brandishes the gun and says a few people will hear about this…Emanuel, Emiliano, Lorenzo. “Brandon,” Ilitia offers helpfully. Right. Mau has mil ocho mil enemies, so he’s done for. Kristel and Ilitia take the gun and leave the canalla.
Hospital: Mari’s awake. Doris tells her the secret was nearly discovered. Mari says she fainted because the fat suit is so hot. Doris wants to wait for the medical report to be sure it’s nothing else. Mari says she was also stressed because Eman wants to investigate her “marriage” with Jorge. Why does he even care? “Because he’s in looooove with you.” “Yes, but also with Victoria. It’s so confusing.” “Well, you’re also in love with two guys.” MV swoons over El Lirio de Plata.
House of Hostility: Emil tells Fedra she’s not threatening him or the kids anymore. Fed calls Bernardo and pouts for him to defend her. Bring it, says Emil. Benigno rushes in with a rifle and orders Fedra and her loyal shiprat to walk the plank. Paula and Nereida bring the suitcases down and Emil tells them to throw them in the street. Eying the rifle and Emil’s rage, Bernie decides they should leave. Fedra menaces that she’s going to get the money and the house in exchange for Emiliano’s freedom.
Hospital: Doris fills MV in on the Andre gossip, yawn. Mari advises her to fight for Andre. Mari, you are a terrible friend. Doris says he said that he loves her, which is why he’s leaving her. Mari says that’s noble, since he can’t offer the life Doris deserves (sing it, sister). But Doris LOVES him and wants to be with him. Doc Arnaldo fortunately breaks this up and tells Mari she’s pregnant. ¡¿QUÉ?!
Episode 189. Turnabout is fair play.
Still at the hospital: Doris and Marianela are both shocked. Doc A congratulates Mari and hopes it’s good news. He leaves. “I’m going to have a child!” “Of a THIEF!” “Of the man I love!” “Who is México’s Most Wanted!” “El hombre de mi vida!” “Who, if he’s caught, will spend the rest of his life in prison!” MV is just dizzy at the thought of having a child with El Lirio. I wonder what the baby’s secret identity will be.
Hospital waiting room: Eman asks the doc about Mari. Doc Arnaldo tells him it’s nothing serious, just a little low blood pressure. Eman persists and Doc distracts him by asking how he’s recovered from the gunshot wound. Eman reminds him that’s a secret. “Right, and I can keep secrets.”
Exam room: Doris wonders how MV will tell Lirio about the baby. Mari says she doesn’t know how to reach him, he just appears, and she gets blindfolded and they go somewhere but she doesn’t know where. Doris seems to find this a bit creepy. Also, she thinks the masked duo had the wrong end covered—haven’t they heard of condoms? Too late for that, says MV. But don’t tell Netty.
Dollhouse: Kristel begs Ilitia for forgiveness. Delete everything. Ilitia forgives her and thanks her for saving her from snakebite. Kristel beats herself up for being such an idiot. Ilitia graciously tells her not to be so hard on herself. Mau is super manipulative. She’s just glad Kristel finally discovered how awful he is.
Foxhole: Emil is huddled like a kid in the principal’s office, explaining why he was fighting. We’ve already heard it all. He tells Max that Fedra wants to bring Lowrenzo to live here. Max says he’s never trusted that lowlife, and he made Max’s dear Muñeca suffer more than anyone. Emil says at least they’re divorced now, and Muñeca got the kids and even all the money. Fedra is making things difficult, though. But Emil will find a way to get rid of her and leave her centavoless.
Low’s blechelor pad: Lowlife plays with Cristián and tells him soon he will get custody and they’ll be together all the time. Fedra shows up with her lip still bloody and tells him she was expelled. He says what’s his is her. She immediately claims the whiskey. Then she notices Cris and is not happy. Low soothes her and says they’ll be married, so of course she can live there. Fedra calls in Bernardo. Low is not happy about the package deal.
Dollhouse: Kristel asks Ilitia to forgive her jealousy and her…ahem…tumbles with Ilitia’s papi. Il thinks that’s maybe too much. Kristel tries to explain how it was. Ilitia really doesn’t want to hear it. Just promise it won’t happen again, not even in your imagination. Kristel even crosses her heart. Kristel says she was on such a rampage, she was even going after gay guys like Oliver. Ilitia is delighted at that hot gossip.
Blech pad: Low says No Dogs Allowed. Fedra says Bernardo is staying. Nereida comes in with the suitcases, crying at her masters’ downfall. She doesn’t think she should go back to the big house; Emil will just fire her. Bernardo tells her to stay with them and she can help with Cris. Nereida says okay, but she charges more for kids. Steam is coming out Low’s ears.
Dollhouse: Kristel sobs that she’ll be alone forever. Ilitia has everything—husband, career, kid on the way. Ilitia offers to help Kristel with a life makeover.
Blech pad: Low rages. He says Emil should just have a convenient accident. Fedra says the problem is that Netty has all the money, so they’ll have to negotiate with her and make her buy Emil’s freedom. But Netty is NOT getting Fedra’s leftovers. Once the dinero is handed over, KABOOM!, buh-bye.
Javi’s room: Eman remarks to Mari that if she hadn’t left, they’d probably be married and maybe have a child. Jorge walks in and snarks that Eman would probably have multiple kids, different mothers. Eman tells him that when he told Mari he was going to investigate the veracity of their marriage, she turned all pale. “Oh, look! Now you look exactly the same as she did!”
Hospital corridor: Jorge tells Mari he’s going to hop on the first flight to Madrid and arrange fake evidence before Eman can catch up. He asks her not to do anything crazy while he’s gone (I don’t know why she would stop now). He knows she’s been sneaking out at night, and hopes she’s not hooking up with Eman. MV swears she’s not; she’s just working on a project with Doris.
Waiting room: Eman daydreams about the Love Shack, and then about kissing Marianela. (Wake up, little hamster.) Mari walks in and he’s all over her. She says he’s in love with Vicky and should leave her (Mari) alone. He says it’s her fault he’s in love with Vic; she sent her to the agency where she’d be around him all the time with easy access to bewitch him. But he’s still in love with Mari. “You’re a jerk.” “Yes, I am, but I’m honest.” He tries to kiss her. Brandon interferes.
Big house: Emil asks Paula and Benigno to arrange a special dinner and gather the family. They thank him for ousting the viper.
Waiting room: Eman tells Brandon to stay out of it. Mari tells them to stop the pissing contest. They decline.
Pensión: Gladiola and Netty are all dressed up, waiting for Emiliano to pick them up for dinner. The doorbell rings. Netty answers and is choked by a rabid harpy.
Andre’s place: Andre arrives at home and Doris is there with a nice dinner out. Hugs.
Pensión: Fedra chokes Netty and insults her while Gladiola stands by. Fortunately JM swashbuckles in to save the day. He tells Fedra he plans to marry Netty.
Mansión living room: Delicia tells Mari she’s sure she passed the admission exam. Mari’s glad she’s realizing her potential. Gretel says something weird is going on in the house, and no one will say what. They’re supposed to have a special dinner. Mari hopes it won’t last too long. Vicky needs to be at the pensión later for a rendezvous with Lirio. They’re glad she’s having a good time, but Gretel feels bad for Emanuel. He’s so in love with MariVicky. Mari says she’s fed up with him. He’s married and expecting a baby, yet still chasing both Mari and Vicky! And now he’s looking into the fake marriage! They wonder if Mari still loves him. She says no; she’s completely in love with El Lirio, and she needs to see him soon because she has something important to tell him.
Pensión: Netty’s lines, Fedra’s lines, ad infinitum.
Mansion garden: Benigno tells Eman the news is big, but he’s forbidden to say anything. Eman says he’s got a secret of his own. He knows hot info about Marianela. For starters, she is not married. Also, Netty gave him some clues: that Eman adopted a disguise, and Mari is not so different from him. Plus, isn’t it weird that he loves Mari and Vicky exactly the same? (Has the little hamster hit cruising speed?) Benigno is confused. Eman giggles that it’s time for a little revenge, hee hee hee.
Andre’s: Doris and Andre have a dinner that would be romantic if you didn’t know he’s a skanky jerk. She loves him and wants to be together. He thinks she deserves better. For once, Andre and I are in agreement. She gives him tickets for their romantic getaway. They’re leaving in three hours.
Bedroom: Ilitia gets dressed for dinner, and Kristel gives her a helpful critique: getting a bit pudgy in the belly, and not enough in the bubis. But don’t worry; it happens in the best families. Ilitia shuts her up to talk about something more important. Eman disappears every night and doesn’t return until morning, and Jorge says Mari does the same thing. Obvio, they’re LOVERS, says Kristel. She thinks Ilitia should follow their lead and have some fun. Ilitia says she can’t take chances, since Kristel already put the idea in Eman’s head that Ilitia is in love with Brandon. Ilitia swears she has nothing going with him, so Kristel has to convince Eman that it was a lie and Ilitia is the most loyal wife ever.
Living room: Gretel and Delicia want to know what the big news is. Mari says she has to talk to Lirio first. It’s major and will change their whole lives. She’s going to fight for him. Gretel points out she doesn’t even know who he is. Delicia thinks Emanuel is getting very suspicious and may know the truth. Mari is sure he doesn’t.
Garden: Eman gleefully tells Benigno he’s going to make Mari fall madly in love with him again, and Vicky fall madly in love with El Lirio. Benigno is adamantly against this two-timing deceit. Eman tells himself it was mean of MV to make him think he was in love with two women, and she’s going to find out how it feels. He is going to make them CRAZY.
Avances: Kristel tells Gretel that Oliver’s cheating on her with Manolo. Gretel and Oliver say that actually, they are all having a threesome; they’re very modern. This looks like a scene not to miss. Emanuel asks Oliver whether Brandon is knocking boots with Ilitia.
