Abismo de pasión #61 6/5/12: In Which Carmina Rattles her Jewelry ... but Ends Up in the Cheap Seats*.

*In a 1963 London performance attended by the Queen, the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret, Beatle John Lennon famously addressed the audience: “For our last number, I’d like to ask your help. Would the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands. And the rest of you, if you’ll just rattle your jewelry.”

Our dear Elna June has the night off. I like to think of her poolside, sipping Tequila Sunrises with sympathetic friends and practicing her flex and point technique ...

The old:

Padre Lupe won’t budge. The only one who can reveal the name of Gael’s father is “that woman”.

Thanks to Florencia’s expert Wheedle, Simper and Whine technique, Guido agrees to be her beard for a few more days in Casa Harango. The Eurotrash Landucci clan won’t be going anywhere for a while.

Lolita and Elisa (who is still dressed for the Baton Twirling Event in the Junior Miss Chile Pepper Pageant) greet the head(case) of the family with more warmth than he deserves.

Carmina, who was conspicuously absent from the “Free Augusto” Conga Line is now nowhere to be seen in the “Welcome Home Augusto” receiving line. Augusto confronts the rotten citrus in her room. He wants to see those “family jewels” she was supposedly going to sell to raise money for his bail. Reluctantly, she pulls out the small coffer from its hiding place ...

Tonight:

What is the Orange one doing with Estefanía’s jewels? Didn’t she tell him her sister had taken them all when she left with Rosendo?

Carmina babbles that Steffie left the jewels with her because she expected Rosendo would buy her new ones. Augusto treats her absurd lie with the contempt it deserves. When he stalks out of the room, her face contorts with self-pity and she throws the little chest across the room,: “¡Para lo que me han servido!” (For all the good they’ve done me!)

(You think Augusto will beg Ramona’s forgiveness for his bass-ackwards accusation of theft earlier? Oh yeah. What have you been smoking?)

Paloma returns from her coffee date with Enrique and fends off Ramona’s questions. Enrique is a good guy but Paloma only has eyes for Gael. Besides, Enrique has his own amor imposible. Who? Paloma’s not saying.

LOTS OF FOLKS COME CALLING TONIGHT:

When a chastened Begoña comes knocking on their hotel room door, the doc and his son and daughter refuse her unexpected invitation to come back home. When she leaves, obviously hurt, Doc T reams out Enrique and Sabrina for clinging childishly to their grievances. Don’t they realize how hard it was for their mother to ask them back? Are they waiting for her to get on her knees and beg? As for his own choice to live apart, that is a different matter...

Maru stops by don Lucio’s to ask after Damián’s recovery. Lucio ends up inviting Maru to join him for supper. And she accepts. (This makes me nervous. Two nice people hanging out make a bigger target than either one alone.)

Are You My Father?

Paloma is thrilled to see Gael on her doorstep. Unfortunately, he’s there to see Grandma. Bummer. Paloma is sent out of earshot and then Gael peppers Ramona with questions about Ingrid. Does Ramona know who his father was? No she doesn’t, she says, and in her firm but not unkind way, tells him not to pick fights with Lupe about this.

Paloma wants to know what the conversation was about. Ramona’s not saying.

PAJAMA PARTY

Casa Castigo

Elisa has finally changed out of the pageant costume though has wisely left her fake eyelashes in place (you never know). She remembers accepting Damián’s proposal as if it were only yesterday. (Um. Maybe it was only yesterday.) She kisses the photo of Steffie and Blanca, kisses the love amulet, and tucks both precious relics in a drawer:

Ay, Damián, te voy a querer toda la vida.”

A tear streams prettily down her face. (I think she must have a no-snot crying clause in her contract. Very prudent, I say.)

Hacienda Harango

Damián, now in his jammies, hobbles around the bedroom obviously looking for something. Florencia, in robe and nightgown, ever-helpful, ever-present and ever-so-annoying, offers to help. He’s looking for the amulet? What’s so important about it? He had it for so many years? Ah well.

She kisses him on the mouth and wishes him goodnight. Why did she do that? he asks. Habit, she answers. Damián thinks she should find Enrique and kiss him. And he’s not reproaching her; he’s just thinks she’s barking up the wrong tree. Flor is undeterred.

Casa Tovar

It’s morning now but Begoña answers the door in robe and nightgown. The kids are back – they didn’t use their keys because they wanted their mother’s permission to come home. Begoña smiles with real warmth. The smile fades momentarily when she realizes that Edmundo isn’t with them. But she keeps it together.

AND THE NEW DAY BEGINS

Hacienda Harango

Alfonsina sits before her mirror and applies her warpaint. Toña knocks, enters meekly and delivers a message: Don Augusto is here to see her. “Why did you let that man in my house?" fumes Alfie. "He nearly killed my son!” (Well yeah, if you want to get technical about it.)

She storms into the office and orders him to leave. He won’t go until they have talked. He wants to negotiate for Elisa’s land. But why did Alfonsina offer the money to get him out of jail in the first place? What use does she have for the land?

Alfie tells him the real price Elisa paid for his Get out of Jail at a Jacked-up Bail card – she agreed to give up Damián. Apparently:

Su amor de hija fue más fuerte que su amor por Damián – y francamente, no entiendo porque tú siempre la has tratado con la punta del pie. (Her love for her father was stronger than her love for Damián – and frankly I don’t get it because you always treated her like dirt).

How can Alfie be sure Elisa will keep her word and stay away from her son? Alfie turns her dead black eyes on him: “She’s terrified you’ll try to hurt him again.”

"Perdóname", replies Augusto, abashed but also satisfied. (The Black Widow seems to have accomplished what he was unable to do – separate definitively Dam Stupid from Miss Junior Chile Peppers.) “I never meant to hurt your son.”

Casa Castigo

Elisa wears another Junior Miss pageant costume. She is not yet crying. She is still insisting that Lolita screen her calls – she’s not home to Damián. But the call that comes now is from Dam’s dam, that is Alfonsina, with a not so friendly warning. She knows that Augusto is free so Elisa better not try to pull a fast one on her (tomar el pelo). If their agreement is breached, Augusto goes back to the pokey!

Her message delivered, she hangs up abruptly.

La Iglesia

Gael apologizes to Padre Lupe for his angry words of the day before. Apology accepted with grace and affection, of course.

Gael heads off to work but is stopped at the foot of the church stairs by Kenia. When he tells her he has had no luck in his search for his father, she tells him not to give up. They’ll figure it out together. (Although she knows, right? She’s such a convincing liar, I get confused.)

They hug. At that precise moment, Augusto walks up. “You make an attractive couple” he remarks and then continues on his way.

Gael realizes that Augusto doesn’t know that he Kenia is his half-sister and he picks up on Augusto’s jealousy.

Hacienda Harango

Alfie smarms over Guido and offers to take him on a tour of the Pro Ce. Guido’s anxious to see baby bro at work.

Pettish Paolo languishes in bed, the only audience for his bare chest his none too sympathetic niece. He’s too depressed to care about Guido and Alfie. Hah! Flor gets it! He’s in love! Is it Elisa? No? Then who? He's not saying.

She smirks. For the first time in his life, Paolo is in love. And he’s suffering ...

Casa Castigo

... While the citric source of his affliction offers a cheery orange greeting to Augusto, now back home and grouchy as hell after seeing Gael and Kenia together. She leans in to kiss him and he recoils.

“Are you still upset about Estefanía’s jewels?” she asks coyly. She insists it’s really not a big deal. Maybe not, he agrees. But he has suddenly come to realize she’s not the person he thought she was. And it’s not just one thing, it’s a lot of things – like Paolo Landucci ...

Carmina kicks into high dudgeon mythomania mode: “I suppose Elisa filled your head with her lies”, she begins.

“No” says Augusto. “She didn’t say anything”.

Here Elisa enters. Now Augusto wants the story.

Elisa speaks: “A few days ago, I came out of my room and saw my aunt and Paolo kissing.”

Carmina’s mouth hangs open. She turns from Elisa to Augusto and protests:

¡Pero eso no es cierto! (But that’s not true!)

Oh man. The zest is gone, the juice has been squeezed. It’s all pulp and pits for you, OrangeHo. Because Elisa has a witness – Kenia, Gael’s sister!

Gael’s sister?

Yes, Augusto, there is a Santa Claus! Kenia and Gael are brother and sister. O frabjous day! Callou! Callay!

“No, no”, the Orange one continues to protest. Paolo was forcing himself on her. She wasn’t kissing him. (True. But do we care?)

Augusto has left the building. We catch the mean little smile on Junior Miss Chile Pepper’s face.

Hacienda Harango

Braulio slips past security (that is, his wife) and gains access to Damián. Dam stupid is stunned (stunned!) to hear that his mother has cancelled all the work that was to be done on Elisa’s lands.

La Ermita

Augusto sits alone in the cantina and downs a shot (or three) of tequila.

La Procesadora

Since Guido finds the Pro Ce so interesting and since his business in the DF is circling the drain and since Paolo has found his calling here and since Flor is going to end up marrying Damián ... (“La vida da muchas vueltas” (I’m a manipulative bitch who gets people to do what I want them to, sooner or later)) ...

...How would he like a job here?

Guido agrees to give it some thought.

La Ermita

A sad old guy and his horse. A lovely young woman emerging from a modest pink house. The old guy – and now we see it’s Augie – walks up and kisses Kenia (yes, it is she) mwa! smack on the lips. She seems surprised, maybe even shocked. But she recovers quickly: “¿Quieres pasar?” (Wanna come in?) she asks. But he is already shambling back to his horse. “Perdon” he says over his shoulder. Kenia smiles to herself.

La Iglesia

Apparently no one has had the heart to tell Ingrid that the casting is complete for the production of “Yentl” in Mérida. (Or at least that is the only explanation I have for her sidelocks.) Bueno, como sea ...

Ingrid comes calling on Padre Lupe. He tries to turn her away and refuses to hear her confession. He’s furious that she told Gael that knowing the identity of his father would get her and Gael killed. Ingrid insists that Padre’s own sister, Alfonsina, really did threaten her life.

Now Lupe comes as close to thundering as he can: “¡Mientes, mujer! ¡Mientes!” (You’re lying, woman, you’re lying!) “My sister may have many faults, but she’d never do something like that!)

But it’s true, insists Ingrid. And the threats go years back, back to the time of her pregnancy. That’s why she had to abandon Gael and leave town.

Then why didn’t she go to Rosendo? asks Lupe. “¡Contéstame!” (Answer me!)

“Because” confesses Ingrid, “Alfonsina gave me a lot of money to leave.” Now she regrets what she did and she is really, truly, cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die earnest about wanting to recover her son. But Lupe can’t tell anyone he saw her because Alfie would kill her if she found out she was still in La Ermita.

Oh ick. Now she’s kissing his hand and begging for his help. (The sad part is he doesn’t believe the truth – that his sister is a monster – but may be buying into the lie – that Ingrid really feels something for Gael.)

Casa Castigo

When Augusto comes home, the Orange Harpy and Junior Miss Chile Pepper are engaged in a heated discussion of moral philosophy.

At Orangina’s prodding, Elisa acknowledges that Paolo was indeed forcing himself on the tía. That’s all the Orange one needed. She affects The Voice, the one with the irritating tremolo that warns us she is shoveling as fast as she can. And she tries to shift the blame to Elisa. Paolo was there to see Elisa and somehow ended up forcing himself on her.

For the second time tonight, Augusto tells her flatly: “I don’t believe you”. It’s not that Elisa and Kenia know. It’s that everyone knows. Her affair with Paolo is common knowledge.

“Whoever told you that is lying” maintains the mistress of mendacity. But it’s no use. Augusto is ready to give her her freedom so she can do whatever she likes with her life.

Carmina’s face goes all pouty and her lips begin to quiver.

A deep breath. Lie back and let yourself float in the cool waters of the cenote ...

Avances: Damián and Elisa defend their love (for five minutes). Elmer Fudd gets out his shotgun.

Refugio Para el Amor #15-16 Tue 6/5/12 Hot Rod Gives Luci the Gift of Stalking for Her Special Day

After guessing that Luci is the girl from another class that Rod is talking about, Oscar reminds Rod that he has a fiancé and he better be careful not to hurt Gala or Lucia. Rod thinks the real problem would be hurting Patricio. Oscar begs Rod not to hurt Luci because she is a good girl. Gala comes in to cling all over Rod and pressure him to pin down the wedding date already. Rod looks like he’s been condemned to life in prison.

Meanwhile at the prison, Lastra is flipping his toupee because the judge has thrown his behind behind bars for his lousy attitude. Violeta and the cute bartender arrive to support Luci and testify against Lastra, even if it means they get fired from Club Inferno.

Rod’s bffs (I should learn these guys’ names if I’m going to recap this show regularly) work with Pato. Aldo brags he’s now part of the company too. When Luci returns and checks in on Pato, Pato puts a stop to their man talk about how attractive she is, and now they know why he’s gotten better so quickly.

Vicky is super nervous while doing the nails of her lover’s wife. She barely holds it together when she hears Max is on his way home. She tries to get the heck out of Dodge quickly before Max returns. Too late! She and Max can barely hide their looks of shock as Rosalena introduces them. Vicky leaves, and Rosalena gives Max a suspicious wide-eyed stare.

Paz and Magda wonder what the heck Aquiles wants to come speak to her about. They sure as hell won’t give him Luci’s address. “He may be someone in this town, but outside of here, he’s a Mr. Nobody” (Don Nadie).

Don Aquiles offers Paz the house and land back, and shoots Ariche a comment about following through on his promises. (Remember, Ariche wrote Aquiles a blackmail note—Lucia’s address, after Aquiles gives her family back their property.) Ariche feels guilty and later tells Lorenzo about his bargain with Aquiles, but Lorenzo doesn’t take it seriously.

Melissa and Hannah get the 411 on the outcome of Lucia’s court case from her, much to the annoyance of Frigida (who still has no idea where Luci went that day).

At the dinner table, the family talks about planning and promoting the 20 year anniversary of the Torreslanda biz. Pato will be helping to plan, Gala will be doing the promotion, and even lazy Aldo thinks he’ll have some important role.  Gala announces that she and Rod have finalized a date for the wedding. No one seems happy about it.

Upstairs, Luci reads Pato an article about the 20 year anniversary. He’s proud of his father’s achievement, since the business has always been so important to him, as has the idea of Rod taking it over one day. Luci speaks about her own father and how wonderful he was.  Pato thinks back to when they first met—her father was still alive and he could still walk. Their conversation is interrupted by Gala and Rod. Gala proudly announces that they will get married in a month. Rod once again looks like he’s a dead man walking. Pato is happy for them. Gala tries to gloat at Luci, but Luci has a total poker face and congratulates them.  Rod claims a month is too soon. Gala ignores him and shows Pato the invitation mockups. Luci can’t take it anymore and leaves with tears in her eyes.

Vicky calls and texts her little bear (osito), but Max, who is assuming that she came to his home on purpose, refuses to answer her. Her boss at the salon tells her to think about what she’s doing (seeing a married man). At the house that night, Max takes his anger out on Rosa and tells her not to invite strangers into his home, especially when he’s coming home from a long, hard day at work. He continues his overreacting by taking his pillow and storming out to sleep in the guest room. Rosalena is totally confused.

Violeta brings her wigs and boas to Estela’s apartment to cheer up her granddaughter.

Oscar, bless his soul, takes Conny and Julie out to dinner. Julie flirts inappropriately with Oscar and lays some drunken kisses on him.  Conny and Oscar try to act like they’re at dinner with a normal person.

Rod once again gets in Luci’s personal space in the kitchen, late at night, and asks if she’s mad at him. She gives him her best poker face, tells him no and goodnight (buenas noshes), and leaves.

We see Vicky’s dad’s home. She brings her father lots of brand new shirts (bought in Miami with Max’s money). He is proud of her because he thinks she was able to buy these shirts with her hard work at the salon.

At the office, Aldo asks Max about getting his own office. Max chuckles and informs him that his job is downstairs with Don Jerónimo (who is also Vicky's dad)—the doorman whom Aldo callously left his car with the other day.

Rosa’s whining to the priest again about having to suffer, seeing Luci everyday. She looks like Aurora, the woman who nearly destroyed her marriage!

Gala and Rosa meet about wedding plans.  Rosa still doesn’t look happy about it, or how soon it’s happening. Gala ignores her. Gala warns Rosa that it won’t be so easy to get rid of Luci, even after Pato gets better, because he’ll become too attached to her. Rosa looks pensive.

The physical therapist shows Luci how to help Pato with his exercises. Rod comes in, and the therapist has Pato close his eyes and visualize moving his right hand. As Luci and Rod watch, Pato moves his right index finger, ever so slightly. Luci jumps into Rod’s embrace in her joy. Pato didn’t see or feel his accomplishment. Later that evening, the whole family gathers to watch him do it again. This time, only Luci’s words to him do the trick. “Love, gives you the strength to do anything,” she whispers in his ear. The family thinks it’s a miracle. Pato thanks Luci, using her manner of saying “mushas gracias.” She gets a call on her cell and announces she must leave. Pato sweetly tells her to put on a sweater since the weather is getting nasty.

A bit later, outside at the bus stop Oscar sees Luci waiting for the bus in the rain. She refuses a ride but finally accepts his umbrella. Stalker Rod watches from his car and starts jumping to all kinds of conclusions about Oscar and Luci. He follows her bus in his car. She daydreams about his kiss. He sees when Luci gets off the bus and runs into Lic. Linares’ home.

Luci and Linares discuss her case. Turns out Lastra can still get his way and throw her behind bars if he continues to press his case. However, her witnesses make all the difference. In the pokey, Lastra isn’t happy to hear about the witnesses or to hear that Club Inferno may be shut down (clausurado).

When Luci gets home, Frigida is waiting to make her life miserable. She accuses Luci of going off to see men and stealing that fine umbrella she’s carrying. They take the argument to the kitchen and it’s obvious Luci is fed up. She tells Frigida that she was taught to respect her elders, but if Frigida “keeps looking for her, then she’ll find her!” (In other words, bring it on, bitch!)  Frigida threatens back and tells Luci she doesn’t know what kind of scorpion she’s just stumbled onto. Luci tells her to go to hell! Just as things get really heated, Rod comes in and puts a stop to it. He tells Frigida to shut it, when she tries to lie, and orders her to leave Luci alone and to leave. She shoots them both a dirty look as she leaves the kitchen. Luci apologizes to Rod, but she has had a crap day. He understands and lovingly wraps his coat around her wet shoulders so she won’t get sick. They get within kissing range.

In his library, Max agonizes about his young mistress and finding her in his home.

Rod pulls away from Luci and tells her he won’t disrespect her again (by kissing her). She turns to leave for her room. He tells her how lovely she is and she wishes him a good night. She looks at him all moony eyed, and goes to her room to sniff his jacket and sigh while smiling. What’s a girl to do after such a trying day, and an encounter with her hunky boss? Well, light some candles, take a long, hot shower, and daydream about her hunky boss.  Said boss lurks creepily, with his mug of coffee, outside her bathroom window. He then stands outside her bedroom door, and thinks about opening it for about 100 hours (i.e. TOO LONG!), and then places his hand on the door knob. He walks away. Then he walks back. He’s having way too much trouble deciding if he’s going to be a stalking, rapey snake. Inside, our pure heroine prays to the Virgin, thanks her for Rod helping her, prays for her family, and goes to sleep in her pink jammies. Rod finally lets go of the knob and then thinks of knocking. (Really dude? Is that much better of an idea?!)

We come back from commercial and he actually OPENS the door and walks inside to stare at her as she sleeps, and nearly touches her! He covers her loveliness with the sheet, takes a final look, smiles, and walks out the door.

Papa Max has come to the kitchen for a midnight snack and senses someone else is lurking about. He wonders where Rod is coming from when he comes into the kitchen from the general direction of the servants’ quarters. Max doesn’t believe Rod’s story about just going for a walk in the garden with his coffee. Since when does he drink coffee this late? Max tells him to be careful. “That girl who’s robbing you of sleep is a true temptation.” He leaves Rod with that thought.

Aldo is in the home office whining about the crap job Max gave him to his mom Conny. She’s not having it. He’s been playing her for a fool for too long. It’s time for him to become independent and work, like his sister.

The next morning, Luci’s first call is from Lorenzo wishing her a happy birthday. He tells her everyone is well. She arranges to call the funeral home at noon so that she can speak to everyone.  In the kitchen, Mati wishes her a happy birthday. Luci’s sad to be away from her family on her birthday. Frigida comes in to rain on her birthday parade by rubbing it in her face that she has work on her b-day, like any other day. Frigida threatens to warn Rosa to keep Luci off the phone that day, but Luci will be making her call on her lunch break, in her room.

Lastra continues to freak out in the jail, and won’t listen to his lawyer’s advice. The lawyer tells him that Luci can now accuse him of sexual assault because she has witnesses. He wants to know who these witnesses are.

Lucia works with Pato on his tablet computer on plans for the 20th anniversary. Max comes in, but then gets a call from Vicky. He excuses himself. Mati brings Luci Ariche’s birthday letter. Pato is surprised to learn it’s her birthday, and for a second is even more surprised to think she has a child. Luci quickly explains that Ariche is her little friend, not her son, and that Pato has met him already. Pato remembers with relief. He says he wishes he could give Luci a birthday hug.

At their apartment, Rod tells the architect to take all the time he needs to finish the renovations. Gala contradicts him, and tells the architect to do the work as quickly as possible. Rod looks like he’s going to be sick.

Linares meets with Lastra’s lawyer in his home office. Lastra’s lawyer is trying to convince them not to press charges against Lastra, and he will convince Lastra to drop his charges against Luci in exchange. Linares calls Luci on the house phone, but Mati answers. The name Torreslanda doesn’t seem to ring a bell with Linares, but Mati is knock-me-over impactada to hear his name.

At Aurora’s gravestone, Rosalena brings flowers and begs Aurora to forgive her, while crying buckets of tears. She tells Aurora she’s sorry for not fulfilling her promise. Linares walks up and kindly places his hands over hers. Rosalena is shocked. He asks her not to cry anymore. Aurora has nothing to forgive her for.

Oscar and Max discuss the invitation list for the event. Oscar has been able to track down most of the company’s old clients and contacts from the early days of the business. The only person he hasn’t found is Claudio Linares, his partner. Max emphasizes that Claudio is his EX partner. He prefers that Oscar NOT mention him again. Claudio got into some accounting trouble. It’s all too painful for Max since Claudio wasn’t just his partner, but also his friend. After Oscar leaves, Max vows that Claudio Linares will NEVER come into his life again. (Never say never Max.)

Meanwhile, at the grave site, kindhearted Linares is thanking Rosa for all she did for his child and his wife in Aurora’s last days.  Rosalena’s face makes it pretty obvious that she wasn’t the angel of mercy that Linares thinks.

Aldo is not adjusting well to his job as messenger boy, especially when he learns he has to drive himself to pick up a package. He seems lost and confused once he gets to the address.

Pato, the physical therapist, and Rod discuss Luci’s 19th birthday. The therapist is impressed by how young Luci is, given how much responsibility she’s taken on. Pato asks Rod to buy a gift for Luci. Downstairs in her room, Luci tries to call her family, but the call doesn’t go through. Frigida is not happy to learn that Pato has given Luci the rest of the day off. Frigida is going to tattle to Rosa. Luci rolls her eyes at her.

Julie bugs Gala at work, again. Gala still has a bee in her bonnet about Luci. Julie thinks she’s obsessed and exaggerating. Frigida calls Gala and gossips about the events of the night before when Rod put her in her place for insulting Luci. She also gossips that Luci has the day off for her b-day and will likely be spending it with some man.

Rod buys a book for Luci as a present (I guess this is supposed to be from Pato). Then he goes to a jewelry store and buys a heart pendant necklace (his present, I presume).

Luci arrives at Violeta’s and she wants all the gossip about Hot Rod. Luci puts a stop to that talk, because Rod is ENGAGED. On Estela’s phone, Luci talks to Paz and Paz tells her about Don Aquiles all of a sudden offering to give them back their property. Luci tells her not to accept anything or make any deals with that devil. She’ll speak to her lawyer friend and see what can be done legally. Violeta then gets on the phone with her mama.

Estela and Violeta speak about how hard it is to cross over to the States illegally and then find a job where they treat you well. Violeta assures Estela that her daughter Ofelia will call when she can. Marianita asks Luci where her mother is. Luci explains that she’s way up north, and Marianita wonders if she’s in the same place where they say her mother went. She asks if Luci’s mother will come back for her, like her mother plans to for her. The adults try to hide their worry. Later, Lic Linares brings Luci a yummy birthday cake. Yay! They all rejoice.

In the big house, Rosa is upset to learn from Frigida that Pato gave Luci the day off. She complains to Pato, but is silenced when she learns that today is Luci’s 19th birthday. Duhn, duhn, duhn!

Linares drops Luci off at the house. Rod stops her on the lawn and gives her the presents, just as Gala drives in through the driveway. Gala watches them and dares Rod to hug Luci in her presence through clenched teeth.

Avances:  Max waxes poetic about what a wonderful woman Aurora was, to Rosalena. She spits back accusations of him having a child with Aurora. Luci admits to Linares that she’s in love with Rod. Gala does something spiteful to Luci, and tells her it’s just a taste of what she can do to her.

El Talismán #90 Tue 6/5/12 The Return of Rita and Rennie and Who Shivs a Git about the Rest?

Recap by Rosemary la Otra

Camila has her ear to Lu's door.  She hears Antonio say that in order to bring Lu back from the dead, they'll say she lost her memory.  “Like Mariana?” Lu asks.  Antonio gets up to leave so Camila faces the plants and faceplants.

The door is ajar so Camila sneaks a peek startling Lu.  Oops, Camila faceplants again just before Lu gets to the door to look out.  She is met by Valentin with the food.  She blames him for spying on her.  He denies it, but she is convinced someone was out there.

Camila runs away through the peacock field, showing another advantage tall women have:   they don't have to wear spiked heels as their daily casual walk-around-an-hacienda footwear.   Mumbling her disbelief that Lu is alive, she is dizzy, praying for help and trying desperately to get back before Belt realizes she's gone.  She runs into Valentin who asks if she's been out to the empty cabanas.  She pleads ignorance (so basically Camila being Camila) saying no, she was only out for a short walk.  He tells her to be careful, lots of dangerous animals (Has there been a death by peacock attack yet in any of the telenovelas?)

Pedro is filling Manuel in on Santiago's activities with Mariana.  Manuel says he is not ordinarily a vengeful person, but now...  Pedro explains how the Negrete's have gotten away with so many crimes because nobody dares cross them.  Manuel combs his fingers through his hair channeling his not-so-handsome-brother-of-Juan-Soler-look and says “Well, that's over!”.  Super Pedro sides with Mighty Manuel while Reasonable Maria encourages them to not take risks. They talk about having a funeral.

Doris is recommending Pig stay calm, don't worry about Antonio.  “How can I not worry about him when I know he is trying to trip me up?”  “Don't worry.  Antonio is busy trying to get back Camila.”  She presses TB+50 for an explanation as to what he was doing last night.  He says “I told you, I was at the Fres-Ho House”.  She says she doesn't believe him.

In walks Pancho with a genuine Kool-Aid pitcher and Pig's Bigger/Faster/Stronger meds.  Pig says he needs them so he can give Antonio a fight.

Antonio gets a call from Dr. Doh-mo that Pig should be completely paralyzed in less than 2 weeks.  Good!  Since WE won't be here in 2 weeks, and want to see this!

Antonio goes storming into Camila's empty room with Doris on his heels taunting him with “Ah, she abandoned you?”

You know that tingling you get when you sit with your legs crossed too long?  Well, Pig has it big time. Pancho reminds him the doc said to expect this side effect. “Give it a few days and you'll feel like a champion.” Pig oinks “I hope so because I'd rather die than be left paralyzed.”  LOL

Flor's baaaaack and pulls up in her car just as the primos pull up in theirs.  They say they came to visit Camila.  Flor is sweet with them and says “Make yourselves at home”.  As if, in that place. They follow her in.

Domitila dressed like a lemon is sour to Tracy dressed like a lime.  “Don't be mean.  Tell me what's going on.  Is Camila okay?”  Just then Belt barges in with a “Where's my wife?”.  They say last they saw, she was in her room.  Here comes Camila in the nick of time. He gets mad and she retorts that she is his wife, not his prisoner.  Oh ya?  He says she needs to ask permission before leaving her room.  He grabs her and is pulling her along when Armando, Angel and Flor hear the daily obligatory “Suelteme”. Army is concerned and tries to defend his sister. A heated exchange between the youngens and Belt occurs. Camila talks everyone down saying she's fine.  Belt tells them to all mind their business and, when alone with Camila, commends her for “behaving”.  She says she only did it so he wouldn't hurt her brother.  He said “I'm glad you know I can hurt all the ones you love, especially your baby.”

Have you ever wondered whatever happened to those One-Hour Fotomats?  Well, they do One-Hour Funerals now.  There is Padre conducting a service.  Santiago's got the trembling mouth thing down. This is sad.

Elvira sighting!  She walks in unannounced to Maria's office.  Maria is at the funeral so just her assistant is there.
Elv – Is she with Dr. Manuel?
Asst. - I'm sorry, I can't give you that information.  You may leave a message.
Elv – Let me ask you something.  Mi hermana y Manuel....are they happy?
        Asst. - perplexed
Elv – (in a huff) Ah, you don't have to answer me.
    LOL

The funeral is over and the aforementioned happy couple are standing about talking about getting married sooner than later.  Reasonable Maria says “okay, but let's wait for this to go away”.  (Grief?  The coffin?)  Also, she needs to tell Elvira.

Santiago is telling Pedro that he saw Camila.  He says they are trying to find out if Lu is alive.  Pedro doesn't want them to get involved. He asks Santiago to promise he won't go to Alcatraz anymore.  Santiago honestly says he cannot make that promise as Camila is expecting his help.  Ahhhhhh.

The pig is feeling a bit better and saying he doesn't have time to lie around.  But let's hope he has time to talk to Captain Bomber Jacket (does this count as one of UA's men in uniform?) who just showed up to question him.  He tells him of Mariana's death and that he has proof  Pig was the last to see her alive (does Luminol work on grease splatters too?). Pig says the one you need to question is Pedro.  He gets rid of the women who love him.  Look what he did to my daughter.  First solve my daughter's murder, then we'll talk about Mariana.

Out comes Belt after berating Camila and asks what's going on.  The captain said he came about Mariana.  Belt's loose lips say “we don't know anything about how she died”.  Captain says “I just now told your father she'd died.  How did you know?”   Antonio quickly covers his arse with a reply of overhearing workers gossiping and we're done here.  The captain leaves with the threat of a subpoena.

Valentin goes running back to Lu saying he didn't see anybody but Camila on the grounds, and she was up closer to the house. Why is he so loyal to this kook even after she popped him over the head with that Festivus Pole, or rainstick, or  whatever it was?

Elvira is sitting in a chair contemplating why Manuel couldn't be happy with her, like he is with Maria. The doorbell rings.  It's RENNIE!!!  Elvira gets overly dramatic and he tells her to calm down.  He just wants the divorce.  (Please please please get back together!  Look into each others eyes and see the promise (if not the dollar signs) of what you saw before.)(Think how enjoyable these last 2 weeks would be if we had a Renvira coupling.)

And now, as an added bonus, here's RITA!!!  She's wearing a cute swimming suit cover as a dress and opening the door to Dr. Doh-mo. They have an interesting proposal to discuss.  It involves getting money from Elvira!!!  LOL  LOL

Rennie is offering Elvira his apartment in exchange for a divorce.  He says he's tired of Fresno (ain't we all?).  All she'd have to do is pay the rest of his mortgage for one year, and she'd own that apartment. Elvira balks at this.
Ren – Okay, well even if we don't get divorced you cease to exist to me.
Elv – Oh , so you can run around with other women?
Ren – No, so I can marry Rita.    (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
      Elv – Con tu sobrina?
Ren – No, she is not my niece.  She is the woman I love.

Elvira struggles for breath, then goes ballistic.  “YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THIS!”

Back with Rita, she's asking Dr. Doh “Oh btw, did that handsome Antonio ever hire you for your medical services?  And does that include killing people?”  “Yes and yes”, says Dr. Doh, “but in Pig's case, he is a bad guy so I am doing the world a favor by speeding up his death.”  LOL!

Back at El Tal, Pedro is talking to Margarito when a 20 watt energy saver light bulb turns on.  “I bet Antonio blackmailed Camila into marrying him.”  Duh!!!!!!!!  He thinks he'll go talk to Elvira.  Sigh.

Los Dos Hogs (not to be confused with Dos Hogares) are in Hog I's study.  Hog II is telling Papa Hog to calm down and don't worry about the police.  It's not like Papa had anything to do with Mariana's death.  Hog I says “Callate, Pancho, you don't know anything.” Pancho's all “huh?”.  Hog I says “Listen, Pancho, would you want to know if I had something to do with her death?”  Pancho scurries away with church music blasting in his head.

Lime Tracy comes to visit Camila, who gives her una carta for Santiago, but don't ask any questions. Tracy delivers it as promised.  It reads:  “It's true, Lucrecia is in the cabins at the end of Alcatraz.  Please tell Pedro.”

On the way back, Tracy sees Shattered Pancho who only wants a hug.

Santiago runs to tell Pedro that Lu is alive.  Pedro shows up at the cabana just as Lu is freaking out about being caged up.  Pedro says “The dead one is not dead.  She's more alive than ever.”

El Talismán #89 Mon 6/4/12 The Hunt Begins

Cameela is in bed when the Prince of Darkness comes in the room. He calls her Chula of course. He wants her to rest up cause she will be the mother of his hijos. She tells him this baby is hers and Pedro's, understand? He is leaning over her, and she pushes him off.

The Virus is with Angel in the dining room of Maria's apartmento, and she is witching about how the Prince of Darkness wouldn't let her stay and talk to Cameela. Angel reminds her that SHE forced Cameela to marry that dirtbag. She just sooo wanted to talk to her daughter. She needs to know if she is ok, cause something just ain't right there, ya think? Angel says there has been a tragedy, and that Mariana is dead! The Virus says dead???? The one with MI CHEQUE???? (Note to Virus: Please enough already, with MI CHEQUE, we in Viewerville have had enough of MI CHEQUE already. Go to Brigette's and get a job.). The Virus can not beleive Mariana is dead and now with her death so is MI CHEQUE! Now with that info, she can't take it with her, (Of all the nutjob things to say) we are poor too! Army has joined the convo and is really disgusted. Angel also told the Virus that he is a friend of Flo's but doesn't see her that often, and besides she can't stand Cameela.

Manuel and Maria are together and he is greiving. He keeps wondering why, his wonderful Mariana is dead. His beautiful daughter. Maria says he is very strong and will make it through this. He blames himself for allowing her to stay at El Tal. Maria says he is not reponsible for this tragedy. Manuel says her life was hell.

Pedro and Santiago go to the police station so Sanitago can give a statment about Mariana. Sanitago is afraid El Capitan will send him back to social services. Pedro assures him that is not the case. He just wants Santiago to tell the truth. Santiago and Pedro go into El Capitan's office. El Capitan says you were the last one to see Mariana alive. Sanitago says she went to Altrash to see Cameela.

Tracy has come to Cameela's room for some chisme. Tracy wants to know if Pedro knows about the little Pedro bun in the oven. Cameela tells her no, that the Prince of Darkness is claiming her bebe as his own. Tracy wants to know if Cameela is telling Pedro. She warns Tracy not to breathe a word of this to Pedro.

Manuel and Maria are still talking about Mariana. He entrusted Mariana to Pedro and now look what happened! Maria tells Manuel not to go blaming Pedro for this cause he is a good chap and he did nothing wrong. (You go Maria). She reminds Manuel, that Mariana, went to El Tal of her own free will to regain her memory. Maria tells him he is not the only greiving for Mariana, she is too. He is still saying why?

Santiago tells El Capitan that Mariana was going to Altrash that night, cause she wanted to talk to Cameela to see how she was. Everyone at El Tal was worried about her. El Capitan asks Sanitago if he knew specifically what Mariana was going to talk to Cameela about, but Santiago says he didn't know. Santiago tells El Capitan he was supposed to go with Mariana but he didn't. El Capitan thinks it might have something to do with Antonio Negrete (also known as the Prince of Darkness). El Capitan thanks brave little Santiago for coming to the station to give a statement about what happened. Pedro insists to El Capitan it was Piggorio, not The Prince of Darkness. El Capitan thinks it really is the Prince of Darkness, but Pedro tells him can't be Piggorio had the most to lose if Mariana recovered her memory. El Capitan and Rosemary la Otra's hawt next boyfriend (had to put that there) are discussing the case. The hawt investigator says they still have no proof the Negrete's did this and what if that kid lied. El Capitan assures the Hawt investigator that he doesn't think Santiago lied. He tells Mr Hawt Investigator that Piggorio Negrete has always been evil. El Captian says he has gotten in touch with Altrash but found out that the Pig is very ill, but El Capitan isn't buying what they are selling, he wants a statement from him.

Speaking of Piggrio, he is in his bedchamber and isn't feeling all that. "Doc" Jaime is with him and has taken his blood pressure. (Excuse me, for a heart patient shouldn't the "doc" be listening to his heart too, just sayin'). Of course "Doc" Jaime tells him he is swell, no problems blah blah. Well of course, Piggorio is so not down with that. Explain the weakness then, and why don't I feel better. You're not so young anymore, says the "doc", your BP is fine. Piggorio is convinced the Prince of Darkness is doing something to him again. "Doc" Jaime assures him this is not the case, as he looks like he swallowed his tongue. "Doc" Jaime tells the Pig to get some rest. Pig says he can't rest many reasons why he can't. He tells the Pig to be calm, what he is feeling are the after effects of the new pills. He leaves the Pig, and the Pig looks very worried. Panchito is outside the door and asks "Doc" Jaime how the Pig is. He needs rest and to be calm or else he won't be well. Panchito thanks the "doc" and he leaves.

Tracy and Cameela are in the hallway, still doing a little talking when the Mistress of En Flagrante comes upon them and wants to know whaz up? Doris snaps her fingers at Tracy to get her to go. Doris wants her bed back. (Listen ya don't want that bed, you want to go back to Brigettes), Doris would like a word with Cameela, but Cameela doesn't want to talk to her, cause she doesn't trust her. Doris tells her she could help her, if she'd let her. Cameela says she still doesn't trust Doris, but in for a penny, in for a pound, and she tells Doris she has a secret. Doris is just dying to hear this secret. Cameela comes right out with it and tells her Piggorio killed Mariana. Of course, Doris doesn't beleive a word of it, so not true! Cameela so true. Cameela informs Doris that Mariana was here last night and that the Pig is a killer. She even tells Doris that the Prince of Darkness is an accomplice to the crime, (even though he is an accomplice after the fact). Doris is still not buying it, she thinks Cameela is the accomplice, but Cameela corrects her again, and says no the Prince of Darkness is.

Valentin and Ms Crazy are in the cabana and she asks him to forgive her for her little escapade last night, and I think for coming on to him. He forgives her. He says they cannot go against the Prince of Darkness. She wants to know about Cameela. Valentin tells her that the Prince of Darkness is taking care of her, and is close to her. Valentin tells her about Mariana's death. Valentin spills the frijoles and tells her, her Papa Pig killed Mariana. Ms Crazy is stunned. She tells Valentin oh, no my Papa Pig couldn't do this, not him, not evaaa. Valentin won't say anything else. The Prince of Darkness comes to the cabana. Valentin leaves. As soon as she does, she asks the Prince of Darkness to tell her about Mariana. He tells Ms Crazy it isn't important who killed Mariana, Pedro will be blamed for it. He reminds Ms Crazy that she is dead. He also reminds Ms Crazy that Cameela is now his wife. She tells him you need to keep your promises, whether you like it or not. She also says you already have my half of Altrash, you are trying to kill Papa, so you will have it all. He gets pithed, tells her to CALLATE, and puts a hand over her mouth. He tells her the Pig will get a lawyer.

Pedro and Santiago have returned to El Tal. Pedro thanks Santiago for coming forward and telling El Capitan what he knew, and when he knew it, not really, but you get the gist. He tells Sanitago that now it is up to the police to find out who killed Mariana. Padre comes into the living room and tells them the police will have to get some kind of proof first. Padre and Santiago go to the kitchen. Margarito and Pedro are now talking in the living room and Margo wants to know what the cops had to say? Pedro tells them they are going on a little jaunt to Altrash tonight cause they will looking for that undead Ms Crazy. Of course, they have that debate of Ms Crazy is dead, let it go already, but Pedro reminds him he is suspected of killing Ms Crazy, and that they need to get proof she is alive. Pedro also wants to go over there to see if he can see Cameela, cause he is positive that the Prince of Darkness is holding her hostage over something. Pedro wants to see if Tracy will help them, but Margo nixes the idea. He is afraid she will runtelldat to Panchito. Pedro tells Margo that they have to get into that house at Altrash, but should check those cabanas too. Margo says they are spread all over Altrash and they'll end up getting caught. Besides Ms Crazy is dead, (look dude just go already, quit stalling, if Mariana had the avacadoes to go, both you boys should have more, and this time bring your weapons, jus' sayin'). He really wants Margo to help him. Santiago listens at the door. Santiago has gone and Padre has come in, he wants to have a funeral service for Mariana. Pedro tells him to arrange that with Manuel, cause she was his daughter.

Manuel has gone to Maria's apartmento, thank goodness the Virus isn't there, and Army and Angel are there too. They are all having cafecitoes. The boys give him their condolences and if he needs anything to let them know. He thanks them. He still has so many questions about why she went to Pedro's. He is wondering why she didn't tell him what was on her mind and Maria reminds him Mariana went to El Tal to recover her memory. She tells him to let the police investigate who did this to Mariana. He says he was so upset he couldn't identify her body. He just can't accept his Mariana is dead.

Panchito has gone in to see his Papa Pig who is reclining on the sofa and not doing well. Panchito lets him know that El Capitan called and has some questions for him. He tells Panchito he is NOT answering any questions. He is attempting to stand when his muscles seize up. Panchito help him to the bed. He says his new pills are not working. Doris is out in the hallway, right outside the Pig's bedroom and is contemplating about what Cameela said to her. Panchito runs out, almost smack into Doris, who he tells about the Pig's condition. Doris comes in and of course the Pig tells her to LARGATE. She tells him your very strong Mi Amor, oh please, and she thinks to herself, I am so marrying you before you get worse. Panchito goes for the "doc".

Cameela has grown some avacadoes and decides to do some snooping at Altrash. She goes to Valentin's office and snoops around. She is looking in the credenza, the drawer of the desk, which seems to be locked, and then a door behind the desk that won't open. She leaves the office and goes to Altrash's kitchen for a drink of water, and Tracy and Alberta are there. Alberta has been trying to get info out of Tracy about what is bothering her. Tracy won't spill. So Cameela gets her drink of water and leaves and Tracy goes after her. Cameela asks her about a key for the door behind the desk in Valentin's office. Tracy doesn't have it and she tells Cameela not to go snooping. Cameela says she can't be sitting in that bedroom all day she will go crazy. Tracy tells her to be careful, pats Cameela's tummy with the little Pedro bun in the oven and leaves. Santiago, that brave little boy, has snuck over to Altrash and runs into Cameela who he came looking for. Santiago tells Cameela that Mariana is dead and that everyone at El Tal is worried sick about her especially Pedro, cause everyone knows the Prince of Darkness is a bad man. Santiago says that Pedro needs her help. Cameela wants to know what kind of help? Pedro needs proof that Ms Crazy is alive and not dead. He explains about the back and forthing at El Tal and the ghost they saw of Ms Crazy. Cameela tells Santiago she doesn't beleive in ghosts and is with them at El Tal and thinks she may be alive too. He explains to Cameela the peeps at El Tal beleive she is somewhere here at Altrash in one of the cabanas. Santiago doesn't want to see Pedro in the carcel. Cameela agrees to help. Santiago tells her the jaunt goes down tonight. She agrees to help, gets a big hug from Santiago, and tells him to be careful leaving Altrash. Cameela thinks to herself, of course she's here.

Pedro is thinking of Mariana from the first time he met her, until the last time he saw her. He thinks about all the hell she went through, and vows never to forget her. Domitilla interrupts this reveirie and tells him Manuel and Maria have come to see him. Manuel and Maria come in and discuss the funeral for Mariana. Pedro tells Manuel to arrange it because she was his adopted daughter. Pedro suggests that she be buried with her natural parents. She would have wanted that. Manuel agrees.

Cameela is on the hunt now. She goes to the cabanas and starts looking around. She comes to a closed door and listens to the Prince of Darkness arguing with Ms Crazy. She puts her ear to the door. They are still arguing about Ms Crazy wanting to be alive and not dead. The Prince of Darkness reminds her all in good time, and in the meantime, noone, but noone can find out she is here. The Prince of Darkness tells her that Valentin will be bringing her something to eat, and he leaves. Cameela has to duck into some succulents by the door, so the Prince of Darkness doesn't see her. He goes by without seeing her, but he left the door ajar. Cameela peeks in and sees Ms Crazy sitting in a chair looking very bummed out. Ms Crazy lifts her head and thinks she sees something and Cameela ducks behind the door so Ms Crazy won't see her.

Refrito

  • II makes fun of Kenia for falling for ToadHead. Kenia notes there are not a lot of millionaires to hunt. II mentions Damian as excellent prey.
  • Dammit. Elisa sold her soul to the devil. She has to cancel her contract with the Pro Ce and sign her lands over to AlfaBitch if the debt is not repaid. Oh, and dump Dam Fine.

Lo Nuevo
Part I

  • Elisa goes to Don Lucio and he thinks it's a terrible deal. They could have gotten the money somehow, but Elisa thinks that would take too much time and she wants dad out of jail now.
  • Las Dos Heifers contrive to ruin the lives of everyone around them. Flo is trying to work her magic and win Dam over again. Fina warns Flo to cut all ties with Quique. Fina will take care of Elisa and make sure she doesn’t ruin everything. Flo gives Fina a big ol’ hug.
  • Elisa returns home to Casa Castigo and Lola produces her life savings. Elisa won’t take it and tells Lola she’s already gotten the money. Lola, of course, wants to know where. Elisa tells her not to ask; that she’ll find out eventually and goes to her room (to cry I assume.) Pop goes the damn Sleazel and she’s not happy Lola told Elisa about the jewelry. Lola tells the Orange Menace not to worry. Elisa has gotten the bail money so the Cheat-ho can keep her jewels. The important thing right now is that Assgusto is coming home. Hmph. Lola looks happier about it than Carmina.
  • Flo meets Quique and breaks it off. Forget she exists. Don’t look for her. NADA. She’s only in La Ermita to win Dam Fine back and marry him like she originally planned.
  • Dam Fine calls Elisa. When Lola tells her it’s Dam on the line, Elisa wants her to tell him she’s not home. Lola confronts her niña about this and the money and all the other mierda that’s going on. Elisa just cries and runs away and repeats her request to tell Dam she’s not home. She says she's really leaving so Lola doesn't have to lie to Dam! Dam asks Lola to pass along the message that he loves Elisa. They hang up. Pop goes the infuriating mom from hell! Dam explains he’s trying to get in touch with Elisa. Dam is a little gruff with her and she takes offense. She doesn't think it’s right that he be so aggressive with her. Aggressive? Come to my house beech, I’ll show you aggressive. Dam rolls his eyes and hobbles out on his crutches.
  • Gael comes to visit the “ailing” II. She is supposedly suffering from pneumonia. Gael notes she looks pretty good. She says she was pretty bad for a while but is better. She mentions being his mom, but Gael wants to change the subject. She wants to know why he came; for pity? Gael is all “You sent Gab to get me!” Oh and Gael is pithed! He isn’t movin’ until II tells him who his padre is!

Part 2

  • II claims it's too risky to tell Gael who his father is. That's why she abandoned him. She claims that's why she denied Kenia after the accident. Someone dangerous wants them out of La Ermita. Gael won't rest until he finds out who his father is. After Gael leaves, Gab tells Ingrid that Fina is perfectly capable of killing them both.
  • Elisa runs into Ramona at Steffie's grave. Ramona says Steffie was a good woman and everyone will feel like crap when the truth comes out.
  • Begone whines to Fina.
  • Tonia is still whining about Gab and Useless Vicente
  • AWW! Lola accepts Horacio's novia request. He smashes her bread (not a euphemism, he really smooshed it.)
  • Doctor Tovar visits Casa Castigo and talks to Orange Ho. She thinks her hot orange lovin' is so fantastic it broke up his marriage. He tells her to get over herself. He does't understand how Assgusto could have married her and stood her for so long.  He wants to tell Assgusto that she wanted to mess with the test results. She says it was to make sure Assgusto still believed Elisa was his daughter and know Assgusto knows she isnt. Someone else chime in here. I can't understand Sabine at all and CCs don't help much.
Part 3
  • Assgusto is sprung from the hoosegow and Lucio fills him in on Elisa's deal with the devil and the jewels Carmina claimed to try to sell.
  • Quique and Paloma drink coffee and share their tales of romantic woe.
  • Kenia has a flashback and when Gael comes to call sort of backs up II baloney story, but also tells him not to trust II. She says all she knows about his dad is that he has passed away.
  • Elisa avoids another call from Dam and cries.

Part 4

  • Lupe visits and Dam explains Elisa won't take his calls. Damian insists that he and Elisa ASAP. Hey, Dam...while you're at it tell your mom to butt out ASAP.
  • Gael and Lupe talk about II. Lupe tells Gael that he is bound by the confessional, but that his dad is a good man. Only II can tell Gael who his dad is. Gael is not pleased with this. He says Padre and II are both the same.
Part 5
  • Flo doesn’t want to go back to the DF. Dad reminds her they just came to check on Dam Stupid. Flo insists she can’t leave until she knows Dam Stupid is back to a normal life. Papino sees right through her and knows she just wants him to stay so no one questions why she’s there alone. She says Dam won’t question anything if Papino is still on the scene. She *needs* to win Dam over again!! He gives in but claims it’s for Paolo.
  •  Assgusto arrives home and Elisa gives him a big hug. Thank heaven he hugs her back. He says they'll talk later about her deal with the devil. Right now he has to talk to Carmina.
  • Assgusto goes to the bedroom and is smarmed on for his troubles. He asks about the jewelry. Orange Ho claims it was from her dad and finally hands the box over after Assgusto starts trashing the place. He knows it's Steffie's Stuff!!

Refugio June 4: Aurora's tomb, coincidental birthdates, and upcoming: a really thrilling manicure.

Friends, I am not going to be blogging this show any more, it just doesn't interest me. Is somebody else willing to pick up one or two hours on Mondays?

Pat tells/warns his mom to go along on her husband's trips - to keep him out of trouble is the unsaid reason. She doesn't believe in love any more and doesn't want to bother flirting with her husband.

Melisa brings Luciana a citation, it's because she whacked Lastra when he tried to rape her. She'll need that nice lawyer Linares!

Gala cannot stop nagging Rod about marrying AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! She's all over him, he just wants to go home, she is dying to be Mrs Torreslanda, he gives her a perfunctory kiss.

Remembering being told that Lastra could indeed put her in jail, Luciana staggers around 'acting' - Rod comes in and sees her crying. They hug. He wonders if she's crying because of the kiss he stole, she says no, she's forgotten about it, he says he hasn't forgotten. She remembers Gala hissing: "The next time I find you with my intended you're out in the street."

Mati comes to Luciana's room and asks who's her lawyer. Turns out she knew Claudio Linares long ago. "I don't think he's the same guy," she says. Luciana says he is a good man.

The dad is in the lap of a very young woman, Vicky, who is feeding him cherries. He says next they can be together the whole next weekend.

The mom is not happy to hear how much Pat likes Luciana. It's still a full moon. Well, you're in luck, bitchy mother: Next morning Luciana quits. There's a flashback of Gala saying she didn't like Luciana talking to HER MAN as an equal.

A grandmother is getting her grand-daughter dumped on her. "What should I tell your daughter?" "Tell her I'm looking for a better life for us and I'll be back to get her." If my daughter was as awful as this girl I'd leave her behind too. (Just kidding.)

Gala continues arranging her marriage and her upcoming life of luxe with Rod. We find Melisa is only invited to the wedding because she's Rod's cousin, Gala doesn't like her.

Luciana's mom Paz is hyperventilating because her hand is broken and her daughter is far away. PLOT POINT: "I know it's hard to work in a rich house. My husband Galdino and I worked in the capital as gardeners for some rich folks, in fact, Luciana was born there -- and the one who took care of it all was Matilda, I hope not the same Mati as in the place where Luciana is working."

Pat, waiting for Luciana to come read to him, is furious to hear she's gone. "Was it that witch Brigida that drove her away?" "Nobody is indispensible, especially a servant," barks his crabby mother. "Luciana is my company." He despairs. "Close the blinds."

Luciana comes back to (hungover) Violeta's place. "I quit because I got served with papers - they knew where I was." V. swears she didn't give the address. (But we know she did.)

Dad's doing a conference call from Miami about the new airplanes. Gala calls, Rod says he's way too busy to talk and hangs up on her abruptly. Then Janita calls to say Luciana is gone. That gets his attention - he leaves immediately and goes to her house! "I've come for you." He begs her to come back. Vi thinks he's quite a hunk.

Gala's anorexic bridesmaids help her choose an incredibly expensive wedding dresses. The one she wants will take 4-5 months to be ready.

The priest is chiding Roselena for letting Luciana go. PLOT POINT: "You let her leave because you remember about Aurora?" "Yes, Padre. I don't want it to happen again. I don't want her to come back!"

In Florida Max and his bit-on-the-side go shopping for her. He buys her lingerie and jewelry. She is Vicky, a manicurist at her mother's shop. her mother is Nicole. This is the beauty shop where Roselena has her cruel face anointed.

His phone rings - omom calls to find out when he comes back. His bimbo sulks briefly.

Patricio is sulking in the dark when somebody came to see him. He doesn't want the curtains open, the light bothers him. The guy leaves. Pat cries. He isn't eating again. He won't do his therapy. He's mad because Luciana is gone. The cousin says she's just an unimportant servant.

Gala calls the house - Brigida says the house is in a trance. Rod isn't home and hasn't called. Gala smiles.

Pat is depressed. Here's Gala. We're busy. But she wants to rob him. He doesn't want to go but the guys throw him out with her.

The nice lawyer met her on the worst day of her life. She gives him the citation. She quit fearing the police would come for her at work and she would be so embarrassed.

Rod and Gala are having massages. He says he doesn't feel well. But she has a whole plan. "An other day."

Max and his girlfriend and all her packages get out of a private airplane. He gets home and goes in to see Pat who is depressed. Then Rod goes in.
What happened to you? You can't base recueration on another person. I went to see her and ask that she come back to the house for you. For me or for you? She doesn't want to come back. "Do you think I matter to her? " He says if she doesn't come, he'll take Pat to see him.
Take hiim to a superluxe hotel with champagne and bbbles in the bath.

Pat isn't drugged, he's sad. "Well if his problems are domestic, fix them," says Max. Mom needs to talk to Matilda about Luciana.

The annoing girl has recovered. Mati comes to visit. You have to come back - Patricio is letting himself die.

"You have to recover!" "For my good, I should die, I want to die."

Luciana comes in, in her uniform, Rod grabs her hands and says don't leave again. Open those curtains and see what a pretty day it is! "You are my sun." Rod looks sick with jealousy.

Luciana didn't ask for more money to come back? The mom is pissed. She came to warm Pat's breakfast but the mom wants to talk to her.

Now Pat is smiling. Rod gives him a sponge bath. I appreciate that you came back but we have to clarify somet higns. Everyone has a place in this house. I don't want you talking to the rest of the family. Just do your work, you have nothing in common with Rod or Jana. It's not enough to call her senora, senora rosalena.

She'll b taking care of his clothes food therapy, this is her job.

Gala is due to go back to Rod's house to discuss details of wedding. She's uncomfrotable. He used to look for times to make love. He's avoiding me and I think it's that servant.

Men hate insecure women. YOu, my dear, have everything, so use it.

I need you to testify. "They'll fire me,  this is our only money."  "You should denounce because you deserve respect."

Here waddles the bad guy (like his blls are too big). With cigar. Let that boy win a few cents. Crroked game. Lorenzo.

Luciana hasn't answered Archie's letter.

Lawyer Linares brings white roses to a tombstone. "Aurora my love!" OK, that was the girl the mom Roselena mentioned with distaste and fear.

Refugio Para el Amor #13-14 Fri 6/1/12 The Girl Who Couldn't Get A Break, and a Mystery Woman Named Aurora

Previously on Refugio:

Rodrigo gives Patricio therapy.

Frigid vows to retrain Luci.

Claudio talks to Bernardo, the lawyer for Lastra about the case against Luci.

Ivan calls Lastra and tells him where Luci works.

Luci calls Violetta and is worried she'll go to jail because of what happened at Inferno.

Frigid comes looking for that muchacha named Luci. Nana says she sent her for meds and if she doesn't like it, she can runtelldat to Rosalena.

Luci is walking back to the Torreslandas, when she is accosted by a very rude Gala, who is yelling momento! momento! Gala tells Luci they have a lot to talk about, she's just a servant and when Gala marries she'll be on her way back to Het Het.

The New on Refugio:

Max and Oscar discuss the previous night's engagement party. Both thought it was a hit. They are also talking about Luci. Oscar liked her, thought she was nice. Max says he remembers a woman very like Luci, her name was Aurora. She was the wife of an associate of his.

Claudio has come to visit Violetta so he can contact Luci about the pending charges against her. It's urgent he gets in touch with her. Violetta says Lastra tried to get info from her, but wouldn't give it. Violetta has a phone number for Luci and gives it to Claudio. He tells Violetta, Luci reminds him of a woman that was very dear to him.

Luci tells Nana how she could be put in the carcel. Nana is surprised. She also tells Nana about how Gala insulted her yet again. She wants to go.

Gala has gone into to see Rosalena to witchy bitch about Luci. She doesn't like her, she isn't good. It bothers Gala that Rod is always talking to Luci. Rosalena asks her if Luci has been rude to her, insubordinate ANYTHING, like that. Gala says no, and Rosalena tells her Luci is important to the family because she is primarly there to see to Patricio's needs. Gala doesn't like this at all. Gala says she has a lot of work to do and is going to go. The Doc has come for Patricio's therapy. Rosalena goes and of course runs into the Chisme Queen, Frigid and she says she'd like to talk to Gala about Hawt Bod Rod and Luci. Gala doesn't want to hear Frigid's opinion. Frigid is pithed and Gala leaves.

There is a business meeting, Hawt Bod Rod has scored a big contract that will make the business alot of money over time. Oscar is not happy.

Gala goes to her office and asks her assistant if Hawt Bod Rod has called. No. She goes into the meeting and her mama Julie comes too. (Is this woman on the board or what? She is always there, jus' sayin') Hawt Bod Rod and Gala's engagment photos are spread all over the conference table and they are picking one for publication, yawn FF>>

The Doc has come to give Patricio therapy. This is the last time he can come, but Patricio needs to continue with the therapy. The family needs to find someone to consistently give him his therapy. Patricio falls asleep, or pretends to sleep, the Doc leaves, and Rosalena is cooing over Patricio and says he will get better, no matter what, for him, for her, she kisses his cheek.

Conny is on the computer and here comes the Frigid one with a bunch of roses for Conny. Conny is surprised and Frigid shows her the card that came with the flowers. Frigid the Chisme Queen, is looking over her shoulder to see who sent the flowers. Conny sends her off to get a vase. Luci comes with a vase and water for the flowers. Conny asks Luci where she if from, she says the North. Frigid comes in and yells at Luci for arranging the flowers, that's Frigid's job doncha know! She sends Luci off to do laundry and Conny gives Frigid the stinkeye. She tells Frigid that Luci is important to the family, especially for Patricio. She tells Frigid, Luci is nice. Frigid doesn't like this at all. All this time Conny has been on the phone with Melissa, her daughter, and as Frigid leaves, Conny yells into the phone that Frigid is rude. Frigid gets out of there.

Claudio is in his office and asks his assistant if Luci has called. No nothing.

Ms Ubervigilant Rosa asks Conny about flowers. Conny tells her Oscar sent them, and they are lovely. Oscar is a gentleman and I think Rosa tells her she isn't free (maybe not divorced) and he shouldn't be with Conny. Conny asks her whyever not? Oscar calls Conny and she thanks him for the flowers. Rosa is nearby and has a digusted look on her face.

Magda and Paz are at the hospital. She is getting her hand seen to. Paz is staying overnight in the hospital and Magda is staying with her, cause it is too far to go back.

Ariche is running around on the streets of Het Het, and he has a letter in his hand. He reaches up to put it in slot, but he is a little to short to reach it, when along comes, wait for it, Procopio the nit wit of course. Ariche says he needs help to mail the letter, and Procopio offers to help,so they get it in the slot, but Ariche has kicked Procopio so he doesn't see who it was addressed to, which of course was Luci. Procopio tries to get the letter back, but no such luck.

Back in Mexico City, the Torreslanda family has a sit down lunch, and Melissa, Conny's daughter, wants to take over Hawt Bod Rod's apartamento, cause hey he is marrying Gala soon, and won't need it. The family thinks it is cool, but Hawt Bod not so much. The phone rings and Aldo has come in and answers the phone. It is Lic Linares, Claudio, looking for Luci, who is serving lunch as this call comes in. Frigid is there to, and wants to take the phone, but Aldo, bless his deceiving heart, says hey, this call is for Luci and not you! Well, Rosa takes the phone, screams at Claudio, even though she hasn't asked who the hell is on the phone, and says this PHONE is for FAMILY only, and not the SERVANTS, and promptly hangs up on him. Rod is giving Mama Rosa the stink eye and Luci has a big tray with a soup tureen on it and is stumbling. Rod takes it from her and she leaves. The family asks Aldo to join them for lunch, and Mama Rosa says grace.

Meanwhile Claudio is a bit insulted that Mama Rosa just hung up on him. He tells his secretary that woman was very pithed that answered the phone when he wanted to speak to Luci. The secretary asks him if he is very concerned for Luci. He says yes, she is almost like a daughter to him.

And of course, here comes Frigid to chew Luci a new one for daring to get a phone call here at work. Luci tells her you don't understand, and of course Frigid mocks her. Frigid tells her you are not equal to the family. Nana is upset about Luci being chewed out,and tells Luci, Mama Rosa was pithed because the call came while lunch was being served. Luci cries. Nana tells her Mama Rosa is very strict, ya think, Luci says well that's all well and good, but what if it had been a family emergency? Nana says you're right, all I have is my sister Estella and you have all your family in Het Het.

Speaking of Het Het, Procopio has gone and runtelldat to Don Aquiles about that letter, he almost, coulda, woulda, shoulda gotten, drat. Don Aquiles asks well did ya get it, see it, ya know HAVE IT??? Oh, noes cause, wait for it, Ariche kicked me, bbbbbaaaaa, so Don Aquiles, who is the brain of this twosome says, oh, so Ariche knows where our little dove is (Thanks Vivi). He tells Procopio to look in his ojos and asks him if he likes his job with Don A. Of course he does, well then find that kid and get the chisme already. Find out where my little dove is.

Julie and Gala are having a meet about how she can really clinch Rod. Julie reminds her he is the oldest son, will get all the dinero when Max and Mama Rosa are gone blah blah. Julie tells her if she were smart, she would enlist the aid of Frigid, the Chisme Queen. Gala can't stand her, but could use her.

Conny and Oscar are having a nice lunch out and discuss her kids. There is Alicia the oldest and independant, Melissa who, I think is working, and of course Aldo the indolent one who is studying (wanna bet)?

It is evening and Hanna and her friends are doing some research for a project for school in the internet, while indolent Aldo is listening to his headphones. Max is happy Hanna and her friends are hard at work, and gives Aldo the stink eye. He tries to get Aldo's attention, and Hanna has to come over and take the headphones off his ears. Max tells him you will be in my office tomorrow morning and we will be having a talk about your future.

Meanwhile Luci has brought dinner to Patricio. Mama Rosa and Rod come in and she checks the tray to see how much he ate. She is pleased. Patricio tells Mama Rosa he sooo enjoys Luci's help. Mama Rosa reminds him that Luci also has other duties besides him, she has to help around the house. Max comes in and asks about therapy. Patricio says he wants Luci to do it. Mama Rosa is so not pleased.

Good news for Luci for a change. Lorenzo called Dona Estella who relayed the message to Nana that the setting of Paz's hand was a success and she is ok. Luci is very happy.

Aldo shows up at Max's office and parks his car in front of the door. He tells, not asks, Jeronimo, the doorman for the company, to watch the car and not move it. Jeronimo is not happy. Aldo goes up to Max's office and Max tells him you will be here at seven? in the morning, promptly and you will WORK HERE, wanna bet? You will bring your certifications from school with you. Aldo is bugeyed but agrees. He thinks he is in like Flynn, (I hope they put him in the mail room).

Meanwhile Frigid is being a biotch and is chewing Luci out about doing the backlog of laundry and is mean to Nana too. Conny and Oscar are back from lunch, and Luci has a ginormous basket of clothes she is balancing, and twists her ankle and drops the basket. Oscar comes to the rescue and takes the basket from her, and tells her to lean on him, so he can help her to her room.

Rod is having a meeting with some business associates and Frigid is there and they have been talking about Luci, when Frigid says something nasty and walks off. Rod is pithed and goes after her. Gala has come by and those guys are still talking about Luci and Gala too. She asks where he is? She says never mind I'll look for him myself. They laugh as she leaves. Gala runs into Frigid with the drinks cart. Gala asks her where Rod is, and Frigid the Chisme Queen tells her, something happened in the servants' quarters and since Gala wanted no chisme from the Chisme Queen, she ain't tellin'. She leaves and Gala is pithed.

Oscar has escorted Luci to her room and takes her shoe off to check her foot. Rod comes and sees what is going on , and puts 1+1 together and comes out with three. He is pithed, and stalks off and Oscar leaves and goes after him. Oscar says are you mad I was with Luci? Hawt Bod Rod says oh, its not important. Rod and Oscar are in the kitchen, with Frigid the Chisme Queen hiding behind the door, doncha know, so she won't miss a thing, and Oscar is telling Hawt Bod Rod, that he is a gentleman (Oscar that is) and was helping Luci. Rod is sooo not liking that, but feeling an alien presence (Hawt Rod has good antenna, I must say) goes to the door and almost knocks Frigid the Chimse Queen or her, well ya know, anyways, sensing her jig is up she takes that drinks cart and leaves. Gala has come into the kitchen and interrupts Oscar and Hawt Rod, and Rod leaves with her. Conny has come down and leaves with Oscar. Conny and Oscar talk about the argument Oscar had with Rod.

Meanwhile poor Luci is in her room and Melissa, bless her heart, has come to see about Luci. She asks if Luci is ok, and wants to wrap her ankle. Luci says she can do it, but Melissa insists and wraps her ankle. She tells Melissa all about her Mama Paz and her hand and how her Mama does cermanics. Luci shows some designs she has of the pots she makes and she has even more designs than these. Melissa is impressed. Melissa asks about the clothes and Luci says she was about to do them, when she twisted her ankle. Melissa gives her a cell phone and tells her it is hers, and she can get and make calls whenever she wants. Luci is over the moon.

Nana has come to tend to Patricio , who wants to know where Luci is. Nana explains she is behind on laundry duty and Nana has to help him. She is upset and Patricio wants to know why. (See end of recap under incedentials.).

Mama Rosa has gone to see Padre Honesto (Love his name, by the way), about the sorry state of her life. Her children are unruly, her husband doesn't support her, blah blah, pity party for one. Padre tells her, her children are wonderful, her husband is too, and she is a good woman. Mama Rosa says not that good, not a good woman at all. She tells the Padre that since Patricio's accident Max isn't the same. She says there is a new servant in the house, that tends to Patricio. Padre asks isn't her name Luciana? Mama Rosa is astonished that Padre met her. He explains Nana introduced them. He likes Luci. Mama Rosa says Luci reminds her of a woman she knew years ago and her name was Aurora, there is that name again! She was a bad woman, and she asks Padre to forgive her. She says Patricio's accident is divine retribution for what she did to Aurora, in other words, Patricio is paying for the sins of his Mama Rosa. Padre tells her to go find this woman and ask for forgiveness. She tells Padre she can't because Aurora is dead! Padre tells Rosa she needs to ask forgivness of Max, Hanna and of course Luciana. Rosa is giving the stinkeye again.

Aldo, the lazy lout is on the computer for his school, changes his grades on the computer, so he'll have a better looking certificate to show Uncle Max. He takes this to his Uncle Max who is impressed with the certification. He wants to know why Aldo quit school. Aldo says he was going at night, but quit cause his Mama Conny couldn't afford it. Max hires him to work there, (Note to Max, don't take that certification at face value, jus' sayin'). Aldo agrees and goes.

Max is in a bubble bath with  his lover, sipping wine, and she wants to spend some alone time with him, how about for two days in a row. He asks if she has a passport. She does. He will make the arrangements. He is already to go to Miami. He and lover board plane. Go to hotel in Miami and Rosa calls. Tells her what hotel he is staying in and will be gone for two days for a reunion of some sort, yeah right. He again doesn't mention the lover.

Rosa and Conny are having coffee that Luci served. Conny tells her she can't stand Frigid and why is she still around? Rosa tells her that Frigid is indespensible to the family. She asks Rosa why she doesn't like Luci. Rosa tells Conny once Patricio is better, Luci goes.

Luci has called Claudio, gives him her new cell number and asks about her case and if she could go to jail. Claudio tells her there is a possiblity she could go to the carcel.

Rod and Oscar are at work and Oscar tells Hawt Rod nothing happened between him and Luci. He asks Hawt Rod if he is interested in Luci? Hawt Rod says no a little too quickly. He asks Oscar the same, but before he can answer, Hawt Rod leaves.

Gala and Julie still witching about Luci. Julie says Hawt Rod is stupid and she tells Gala to find a way to get rid of Luci.

Julie calls Rosa who isn't there, and then Max calls too and tells Nana to prepare a suitcase with two days worth of clothes in them, cause he is going to Miami. Course he left the part of going with the lover out.

Nana and Luci are in the kitchen and Luci shows her the new cell phone. Nana is happy for Luci and also that she can call and receive calls whenever she wants to. Of course, Frigid the Chisme Queen wants to know where she got the phone, did she steal it maybe? Luci tells her she didn't steal it and Frigid is not happy.

Ariche is playing on the streets of Het Het, with a stick and a ball, and again runs into that dimwit Procopio. Procopio is trying to get the chisme from Ariche about where Luci is, he knows right, right? Ariche says Don Aquiles wants this info right, right? Ariche says he will write the address down so Procopio can take it to Don Aquiles. So with paper in hand, Procopio takes this to Don Aquiles and gives it to him. It is a note, that basically says, aint tellin' you eva. Don Aquiles is amused, but sends Procopio back to get chisme from the family to see if they will spill the frijoles about where Luci went. Procopio also promised many good things to Ariche if Ariche gave up the info.

Melissa is coming home and gets stopped at the gate by a process server with a supoena, I beleive, for Luci. Melissa signs for it and Rosa stops her and asks her what it is, Melissa, bless her sweet heart, says the document is for her. Melissa goes upstairs and gives the paper to Luci, who is very upset. Melissa wants to know what this is all about, Nana too since they are with her. Luci explains what happened on the worst night of her life at Inferno and Melissa asks if she has a lawyer. Luci says, yes indeedy I have a lawyer named Lic Linares, and Nana gets a funny look on her face. Luci calls Claudio on her new cell phone and tells him she got the papers. Claudio wants her to come to his office with the papers, sooner rather than later.

Luci has brought dinner to Patricio and Rosa comes in. Luci has a book of Metaphysics in her hand, and was talking with Patricio about it. Rosa wants to know what is going on? Nana has come in too. Patricio says nothing. Luci leaves and Rosa tells Patricio that Max went to Miami for some type of reunion. She isn't happy and thinks right now was not a good time to go. Patricio says that she should have gone with him, three's a crowd, just saying. Anyway, Patricio tells her she is still an attractive woman and Max is proud of her. She says she married til death us do part, but that love is an illusion. He tells his Mama Rosa she can get back that illusion and make it a reality. She thinks he is kidding. He tells her he is serious, and she calls Patricio a romantic.

Gala and Rod are talking about their upcoming wedding. She wants a date that conflicts with the anniversary of the business and Hawt Rod tells her it can't be done then. She tells him she wants to get married in a month and can't wait to be Senora Torreslanda. Hawt Rod leaves and Gala is pithed.

Nana is talking to Luci and Nana tells her to be calm, everything will work out. Nana leaves to go to bed, and Luci stays in the kitchen, turns the lights out and proceeds to have a good cry. She thinks about going to the carcel. She is limping, and guess who comes in the kitchen???Anyone, no, not Frigid, its Hawt Bod Rod, who sees her , she has her back turned to him, and he turns her around and she presses herself against that Hawt Bod and cries as he holds her.

Incidentals:

Dona Estella has a daughter and a grandaughter, and her daughter wants to go to the States for a job, but can't take her daughter, and wants her Mama Estella to take care of her. She finally agrees after much wrangling.

Gala has been getting an apartmento ready, with the help of an architect for her and Hawt Rod. He hasn't seen it yet. Too busy at work.

Hanna was putting a puzzle together in Patricio's room, and Rod's business buddies come up to visit him. Patricio feels useless in his bed, and Hanna and the guys suggest that he can use the internet to video conference work, so it will feel like he is there. Problem is he can't use his hands. Hannna has the brilliant idea of getting an assistant for him. Patricio thinks that Luci would be great for that. He is very happy and Hanna too. Will Frigid and Mama Rosa put the kibosh on that. Stay tuned.

Amorcito Corazón Discussion #1-3 May 30-June 2: Semana de Estreno

Since it's premiere week, almost anything you need to know can be found at the Univision Amorcito Corazón site. There is also the official esmas site...but one always runs the risk of spoilers. It looks like this one will have a long run. It premiered in Mexico in August 2011 and is just now entering its Últimos Capítulos.

I am going to assume that really we don't need a full recap. I tried to distill the first 3 chapters into a super quick run-down, but as you know with TN opening episodes, there is a montón of characters/events. I don't think I was very successful. I don't plan on making these weekly posts so long, so thanks for bearing with me this week.
The Bare Bones
Capítulos 1-3
  • Isabel (Elizabeth Álvarez) isn't lucky at love. It seems there was an unfortunate bull attack at her 18th birthday and her novio got an unfortunate wound. The novio's mom did not take it well and cursed Isabel. Since that day, Isabel has never had a very good birthday.  Isabel is currently dating Poncho (Miguel Ángel Biagio), who strikes me as a jerk. He seems too eager to take Isabel's virginity...and not for romantic reasons. She's a teacher at a local Catholic school.
  • Fernando (Diego Olivera) is a widower and single parent to 3 lovely girls and has just moved into Isabel's building. His deceased wife was sweet and good (played by Fabiola Campomanes.) His mother-in-law, Hortensia (Marcaria) is a shrew. His sister-in-law, Manuela isn't much better (also played by Fabiola Campomanes...so Fabiola plays the dead wife and the living twin sister.) Fernando owns a construction/architectural business and there will  be a contest to decide who will be in charge of the next project.  He has two friends: Felipe (Alex Ibarra) and Cecilio (Ricardo Fastlicht.) He catches Isabel playing flirty skirty with an air grate and the two trade insults. Awww, isn't this how all great romances start?
  • Isabel is on the outs with her father, but she could use his money to help pay for the not quite manicomio where her slightly loony mother, Sarita lives (played by Silvia Mariscal...and seriously, they have to name the loony one Sarita?) Isabel is a little behind in payments. She tries to sell some jewelry and gets caught up in a robbery. When Fernando interrupts the robbery he ends up in his underwear and duct-taped to our heroine. More insults and hi jinks.
  • When Isabel is finally home from her fiasco of a day, Poncho arrives with an iPod serenade (El Gavilán Pollero by Pedro Infante.) It's cute how she thinks it's romantic and not just a ploy to get in her pants. When Fernando comes out to the balcony to complain he very accidentally knocks a flowerpot onto Poncho's head and knocks him out. The authorities get involved and Isabel's telling of the events gets Fernando an evening in jail. It also turns out Poncho is Fernando's employee. After Poncho regains consciousness he returns to the office and mentions suing the guy who threw the flower pot at him. Fernando personally writes a check.
  • Isabel's best friend is Zoe (Grettell Valdez) who is married to Álvaro (Pietro Vanucci) a swell guy...at least she thinks so until she catches him in the shower with another swell guy. She gets a little drunk and announces this to the entire tennis club. Mother in law faints. Later Zoe tries to throw herself off a bridge, but Fernando's buddy Cecilio saves her and they get it on, but she sneaks out the next morning. It was an unforgettable night, but she swears off love forever.
  • Willy (Daniel Arenas) is a gigolo and his latest conquest is Beba (Mariana Karr) good friend to Hortensia. Willy gets beat up one day, but Lucía (África Zavala) runs off the thugs by chucking fruit at them. Lucía is sister to Fernando and a novitiate. He is unconscious as he is taken off to the hospital. Lucía cannot go with him as she has been lectured about obedience by her superior officer nun. After he gets beat up, he breaks up with Beba. Later he runs into Lucia who hugs him. He doesn't realize she was the one who saved him. She's also in her civvies, so when he makes a bet with his friends that he can win her over he doesn't realize he's already screwed. According to Willy there are two types of women: Those who love him, and those who haven't met him.
  • María Soledad (Renata Notni of LFDD fame) is the oldest daughter of Fernando and the new kid in Isabel's class. Maria Soledad met Juancho in Acapulco, but dad didn't approve. Her new friend Bárbara (Gaby Mellado) encourages Maria Soledad to "borrow" some money from the school graduation fund to find him. A mean girl rats her out. Fernando is called and Isabel is asked to talk to Maria Soledad and the girl confesses why she did it. She claims her father is a controlling lunatic. Isabel knows all about controlling parents since her dad was one, too. She encourages María Soledad to call Juancho. As she does Papá Fernando comes in and the and Isabel are impactados to see each other.
First impressions
  • I had some comprehension issues. Is it just me or are the comedies a little harder to understand? I suspect I will miss most of the conversations by the younger characters (Willy, Juancho, María Soledad and Bárbara.)
  • I love the opening theme (always a good sign)
  • África Zavala is going to be a cutie.
  • I love how the Isabel and Fernando characters kept running into each other under ridiculous circumstances.
Vocabulario
la maceta-flower pot
el energúmeno-lunatic (which was said three different times in cap 3 and spelled three different ways on the crazy useless CC's)
el mequetrefe: good-for-nothing
cruda-hangover (another word for hangover: resaca)
amar al prójimo- to love one's neighbor...not actually said, but I discovered it while looking up....
el prójimo-fellow man (which was said)
el tipejo/la tipeja- idiot; piece of work
rabo verde- dirty old man
Ojos vemos, corazones no sabemos: You never really know a person

So, what did you all think?
