La Fea Más Bella #85-86 11/11/10 Before and After

Today is Veterans Day, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended WWI and the day on which we honor our military veterans. Our deepest thanks to all of you have served in the armed forces.

Capitulo 85.Read Julie’s original recap which covers Cap’s 85 to 86. Then come back here to discuss it

Paula we miss you! At least we have your Before and After table and dialogue translation.

Capitulo 86.
Read Julie’s original recap which covers Cap’s 85 to 86. Then come back here to discuss it.

Paula made a table regarding the sequence of events in Cap 86. She says don't read this table from left to right. Instead, read down the left side and then up the right side, following the actual chronology.

Here is the link to dialog translations for these episodes. (This is a great dialogue translation and I hope you read it. And Paula was just learning Spanish? Wow.)

From Pata: Paula has a theme of how Fernando changes throughout this story and I think she calls it "Before and After". So I have the picture when they just enter the hotel room, then the second picture is just as they are leaving.

Pata, thank you for the screen shots. You nailed today's theme, nice job!

Thanks for this one. I really hated to miss seeing it, but appreciate the review.

Yea! Thanks everyone helping with the recaps. I FINALLY saw the entire two episodes for the first time.

Thank you to all our military veterans for all the sacrifices you make and made and thank you not only today on Veteran's Day but everyday.

I just finished watching these. It just gets better each time I watch these two episodes. I have a question though. Were they blurring Paula Maria's bust line when she was at the club with Simon? I never noticed that before. Maybe it was because I always FF>> that part.

The other thing, Paula you were talking about the comparison
with YSBLF. I must admit I enjoyed the birthday party at Lety's better, but the corresponding sequence for today with Paty and Marcella was so much funnier than the Alicia and Marcia scenes. Although both were pretty funny.

After these episodes I am so in love with Jaime Camil! Wow, those deep, dark, soulful eyes, sigh...

I was very surprised when they made love. I figured it would happen eventually but I thought Fernando would fight it longer. Maybe with Ed stopping by and initiating the soul-searching Fernando was able to admit how his feelings for Lety are growing.

Pata, wasn't it weird how Paula's bust was blurred out? It didn't seem too terribly risque to me.

Sylvia, I put in the disk that I already had to look and see if they had blurred it when it was originally aired in the eve and it is not blurred at all. It is a very tight fitting tank top and looks like she isn't wearing a bra, but nothing that risque. I think they brought more attention to it by blurring it out this time. It might just be because they are airing during the day time. I think programming censure has gotten alot stricter in some ways as well.

Pata, I can't remember which TN it was but there was a fairly recent one where the women's boobs were literally falling out of their clothes on a regular basis (nothing new) yet they blurred out a little piece of dog-doo. It was baffling.

I'll buy your theory about mid-day.

Oh, finally to see these episodes after four and a half years! Now I understand what happened.

Notice the introduction of a new song--sort of the love theme of Lety and Fernando. It was played briefly.

It is not a spoiler to say that you will see flashbacks to some of this episode in the future, and that's all I had seen in the past. I never understood how they got together.

Two amazing subtle performances by these actors. Also loved the recap Lety had with her mother where her mother tacitly acknowledges that something more than talking must have gone on, and she is down with that.

BTW, thanks for the links to the parallel Betty episodes. I never watched BLF, so it's interesting to see how it's virtually a shot-by-shot recreation at this point. I don't think the Fernando actor is anywhere near as charismatic as Jaime Camil. Also, it's a much darker version.

Nina I'm with you having also missed these episodes when I came in later the first time around. Really beautifully done and I couldn't help wondering if Fern is beginning to admit to himself that he really does have feelings for Lety. JC certainly has extraordinarily expressive eyes and face and without being a spoiler we can certainly expect to see more of it as we go on.

I was somewhat astounded when he questioned her about this not having been her first time. After he mentioned Tomas Morai I wondered if he thinks she is claiming to love him while doing it with his rival.

Listening to Omar and his advice I was almost waiting for him to tell Fern to get on with since all cats are gray in the dark. He at least spared me that.

I'm not big on Marcia but after that scene in the police station when she shrieked at Alicia in the car I was right with her and probably would have gone for the ditzy blonde's throat. Very funny scene and did anyone notice the official in the background struggling not to laugh at the histrionics?

Speaking of noticing things I thought Fern dumped his keys on the table when he came into the apartment but he was jiggling them in his hands when he was in the bedroom with Marcia. I love catching continuity glitches in novelas and there are always a handful of them.

I had to go to the dentist yesterday and was forced to tape the episodes. i can say with certainly those aren't going to be erased anytime soon, LOL

the big mirror took the place of Eduardo right before Lety came out of the bathroom. Fernando was whinning about not being able to do this... the mirror just let him look at himself... possibly more honest than he had ever been to himself .

Sylvia, you were surprised Fernando didn't avoid doing the deed, for longer? To me, what made the difference was his Prime Directive: Lety must not suffer. He didn't want to do this to her because he knew in the end she would suffer. But when he sees her suffering in the hotel because of his rejection, he MUST act. He must do whatever necessary to stop her suffering.

Also, of course, the moment she says, "Forgive me for being in love with you," is the moment he falls in love with her.
