La Fea Más Bella #211-212 2/14/11 El Divino as Dumpster Diver, El Domensaín as Detective

Capitulo 211.
Read k-Fuego’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Lety thanks Aldo with a hug. He stands close and asks if Lety’s heart is still broken. She hides behind the desk, folds her arms in defense, and admits that it still hurts to be near Fernando. He changes the subject, so she’s safe to come out from behind her desk. Again he moves in close, she turns away, and he takes her arm and turns her toward him again.

2. Inches from her face, Aldo asks, “Do you believe that Fernando never loved you?” She runs behind the desk again and says she doesn’t want to talk about it because it hurts too much. He pushes, she begs him to change the subject, and he pulls her out from behind the desk. He can’t stand that someone would hurt Lety like that. He moves in for a kiss and the phone rings.

3. Fernando broods outside Lety’s office.

4. Marcia hears the cuartel discuss how Marcia must feel, losing her man to a fea. In the vortex they look at Fernando with scorn. Marcia is sure Lety told the witches everything. Lety tells them to stop spending so much time in bathroom meetings.

5. Aldo asks Caro if it’s possible that Fernando really loved Lety. Caro says no way. If he loved her, he wouldn’t have done such awful things. Aldo says that he acted genuinely jealous.

6. Fernando discovers that the bag of cards is gone, and he’s gotta’ find it. Omar steals the comfy chair. Fern says to himself, “Even if Lety doesn’t care about those memories, I do,” and he heads outside. Meanwhile Lety says the same thing and determines to recover them, but Caro interrupts.

7. Lety tells Caro that she’s glad for Aldo’s help. She’s getting used to Aldo rescuing her. His food project saved the day. “He’s an angel fallen from heaven.” Lety continues that even seeing Fernando makes her feel awful.

8. Tom watches while Ali practices throwing herself at Aldo. She takes Aldo out of Luigi’s meeting to ask him out. Luigi finds Tom l’eavesdropping on them.

9. The US embassy calls for Fernando, but he’s out. Sara sends Saimon to find him.

Capitulo 212.
Read Alma’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Fernando digs through the trash to find the bag of cards. He defends his trash from the janitors.

2. Tom tells Aldo that he doesn’t like him because he’s guapo. Aldo does “Sassafrass-afrass-afrass” like Tom and it’s funny! Tom says the guapos are the source of all the world’s ills, and no one ever discriminates against guapos.

3. Saimon finds Fern, who tells him they’re not barhopping anymore and Saimon can’t call him “tú.” Fern says he’s looking for important papers he lost. Saimon says Fern is above that; Saimon will dig through the trash for him. But when Saimon picks up the first bag, Fern rips it from his hands and holds it like a voluptuous woman.

4. Tom gives Ali new stockings, but she throws them in his face. Ariel harasses her about her stockings and gives her money but she refuses it. She goes back to Tom and orders him to give her the stockings.

5. Fern needs to find those cards. They are the witness/evidence (testigo) of their love. He finally finds the bag and hugs the stuffed toy saying, “Lety, mi amor, finally we’re together again.” Meanwhile Lety tells Caro that Fern threw their cards in the trash. That says that to him, their relationship belongs in the trash.

6. Lety fantasizes that Fernando brings a card, reads it to her, declares his love, and begs forgiveness. Meanwhile Fern reads the same card to himself. He’s stung by his own words, “I’m more convinced than ever, of my decision to cancel the wedding.” If only he would’ve. Lety tells Caro she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be able to forget him.

7. Ariel steps into Luigi’s meeting. Aldo tells him about the project, and asks if Ariel thinks that Lety is the only one at fault in the loss of Conceptos. Ariel abruptly tells him to mind his own business.

In honor of Valentine's Day, here is a bright red heart formed by Alicia's dress and her, um, assets.

Comments:
Fern has done lots of pining for Lety and talking about her. But I think the trash picking is the first actual ACTION that he has taken that demonstrates his love. I think (correct me if I’m wrong) that everything else has been words and emotions, but no action. Is this the first step of putting legs on his love?

When Ariel meets Aldo, it’s a good example of tú/usted culture. Aldo addresses Ariel as tú, and Ariel very pointedly replies as usted to say, “I’m not your new best bud. Back off!” Note Ariel is not doing it in response to Aldo’s social class or position, but rather his inappropriate familiarity. Still Aldo sticks with “tú.” Also in the Aldo/Ariel exchange, Ariel is hyper-reality. It’s a bucket of cold water in Aldo’s ethereal face. Remember, DF (Mexico City) represents the real world.

"L'eavesdropping"... good one!

Fern's actions demonstrating love... I'm not sure. How about when he was drunkenly showing off Lety's photo to all and sundry? Should that count?

Even if it does, perhaps this is the first time he's demonstrated his love for Lety while sober.

Oh, look everybody! Look at the date of the old recap. Now look at today's date. We've crossed a dateline of sorts!

Thanks for pointing out the "tú/Usted" conversation between Aldo & Ariel. I hadn't noticed it. Do you think that Aldo was being purposefully impolite after what he had just seen before going in to the meeting? He looked so disgusted by Ariel's treatment of Alicia. I half expected him to step in and come to her aid -- though that would have been even more humiliating for her. Of course, if he stepped in that would have fed her fantasy that he's hers for the taking.

Güera

Yes Julie - I noticed that someone in the earlier recap posted a Happy Valentine's Day greeting. I say to all of you Happy Valentine's Day as well!

I did watch the body language between Fern and Lety early on in the meeting and every time he tried to get her to discuss her feelings about Fern she pulled away. She didn't want to discuss it with Aldo at all...she closed herself off and moved away. Then she'd move back closer when they were talking about more pleasant things like that beautiful painting...(LOL).

Today's eps were so funny. Loved it all - and finally we get to see Aldo do a little comedy. I really think that the direction he receives is to play Aldo as a straight character, without any comedy. But today we finally got to see it and I thought it was HILARIOUS. I guess Tommy brings out the comedy in everyone...

I loved Fern digging through the trash - I missed the tu/ud. conversation with Saimon and Fern, but glad to catch the significance in the re-cap. I also missed it slightly with Ariel as well.

I did notice the line you mentioned between Caro & Lety. I won't go into detail, but before I'd found the recaps here on Caray Caray I'd read a synopsis of the show on Wikipedia so I get the significance of what Lety said to Caro. What's interesting is the reaction of everyone here on the board towards Aldo...wonder if that will change later on in the eps based on that bit of foreshadowing in the dialogue.

I think that yes - this is one of the first actions that Fern has made to show his love towards Lety. Do you think he would have done it if Aldo wasn't around sort of fanning his flames of jealousy? I don't think he would have...in fact I think Aldo only helps Fern's feelings to go stronger because he (aldo) is sort of like a piece of red cloth being waved in front of a bull's face (fern).

I'd even agree that Fern's drunken showing of Lety's picture to the bartenders could indeed be a significant action although I feel that it wasn't such a big step because he showed the pic to people who aren't so important in his life.

The one action I want to see Fern take is to dump Marcia. Once he does this - then I can take him seriously. Although it really was sweet his actions with the stuffed animals... Jaime's so good in this role.

Ariel & Aldo - that was an interesting meeting. Did anyone get the sense that Aldo got a little nervous with Ariel - in his description? Was he struggling to find the words to explain why he's at Conceptos? That's the sense I got from what I saw, but I'll have to re-watch it later. Ariel is such a nasty character. It'll be interesting to see what if any other interactions Aldo has with him in the future. I'd say Ariel is probably the complete opposite of Aldo...although I haven't thought enough about it to come up with a solid argument for the sake of this board.

Can someone call Guillermo back already? How does this company function? I just don't understand how they get anything done if everyone is always gossiping and digging through trash cans instead of actually working! LOL

I like how Aldo was able to suss up Ariel immediately. So far Aldo has been nice to everyone but there was definitely a chill in the air in his interaction with Ariel.

Paula, you state that DF represents the real world compared to Acapulco. When Lety was talking to Caro she said something like "welcome to the hell that is Conceptos". Earlier she tells Caro that Aldo is an angel fallen from heaven. If Conceptos is hell and Aldo is Lety's angel then I propose that Ariel is the devil. It's not that Lety typically needs help with Ariel because she handles him quite well on her own, but I think he's the only character that shows no redeeming values whatsoever. (Main-ish characters, I'm not counting Jazmin or any of the minor characters.) Anyway, that's my theory for now and I'll pay attention to see how it plays out.
Also, Ariel was very rude to Aldo which I thought was rather stupid of him considering Aldo is their only client right now.

It's funny how Aldo is the only person who can disagree with Luigi and get away with it. I keep expecting Luigi to have a "mimisqui" but no, he loves Aldo's ideas.

Great scenes with Fernando mucking about in the trash. Also another wonderful Lety fantasy.

Julie you're right! We're just about on the same dates but four years later. Four years...was it that long ago?

GP and Güera, I didn't see your comments when I posted. ITA that Aldo stepping might have humiliated her further and definitely would have helped feed her fantasy.

@GP - I didn't get the feeling that Aldo was particularly nervous, just that he has a visceral response (a bad one) to Ariel and it's difficult for him to be civil to the guy. I put myself in his shoes. How would I feel if I were an important client and someone I hired was being snotty and rude to me? Earlier in the day Aldo commented that Conceptos is a zoo. Lety calls it hell. It's both, but it's also the only place she gets to see Fernando.

Oops, I accidentally erased part of my comment, I meant to say Aldo stepping IN TO HELP ALICIA might have humiliated her.

Silvia - you helped me to prove my case without having read my comments - love it! I like the idea of Ariel as the devil and Aldo as an angel (although I guess technically they'd both be angels eh?)

Good point - I keep forgetting that Aldo is an important client...

I think Guera and Silvia that Alicia would have liked to have a man like Aldo come in to defend her against Ariel. If Tomas on the other hand had intercepted then she would have been humiliated because a feo was the only one to take up for her, but a guapo hombre like Aldo? She would have been all over him forever after that if he'd stepped in...

Stepping in to help Alicia in an obvious way might have embarrassed her, but he could have called her aside on a pretense of needing help with the phones or something. (It's so much easier to think of just the right way to handle a problem after four years have passed.)

Sure it would have fed her delusions about him, but then so would anything else, short of clubbing her on the head.

GP, glad I could inadvertently help with your case. Funny how that worked out, isn't it?

Good point about Alicia. I was thinking how I would feel, not how Alicia would feel, LOL! Which leads me to ponder Aldo's conversation with Tomas. Not only was Aldo funny (finally some humor from him, sheesh!) but their conversation was very interesting. Tomas has some major issues regarding Feo vs Guapo. However it seems to apply only to male guapos, he's perfectly fine with Alicia being beautiful and shallow.

I mentioned before that Aldo has been nice to everyone. Well he has been SUPER nice to the Feas and anyone else in a "lower" position. He seems to gravitate toward people who get maligned or stepped on. With that in mind Tomas hasn't really given Aldo a chance. He just immediately hates him because he's good looking. Is Tomas a good judge of character or is he letting his own personal issues cloud his judgement? I don't know the answer, I'm just thinking aloud here.

Sylvia, I don't think that Tom's issue with Aldo is that he's guapo, but rather that Alicia likes him. And you're right that Aldo seems to gravitate toward the downtrodden, EXCEPT, look at it this way. Make a list of people close to Lety. Now make a list of people Aldo turns his charms on. Any parallels? In fact, the only exceptions are Luigi who got Aldo an office, and Ali who.. I can't figure that one out.

Saimon is as downtrodden as the cuartel, but Aldo hasn't made an effort to befriend him, in fact he flirted with Paula even when he saw Saimon getting jealous. And then there's Caro. When he called her in Aca, she was STUNNED to hear from him. Obviously they weren't close friends at that point, and she didn't know him when his wife was living. But now, he took her to dinner last night (where he met Luigi) and lunch today, they're traipsing around DF like old pals, and he calls her or visits with her frequently. And oh by the way, she's Lety's trusted friend.

About the word guapo. Many people think it means good-looking. Actually it means sexy. e.g. Colunga is better looking, but Camil es más guapo IMHO. Or Sean Connery who was still VERY guapo at a ripe old age.

Okay, I don't see what ya'll see in the picture. It looks like a conk shell to me and nothing else. The scene with Fernando and Lety on the desk was something else. It was hot, passionate, and hungry kisses between the two. Too bad it was an illusion. Fernando dumpster diving was great. He wanted those cards and animals because they represent Lety. Fernando was willing to soil himself looking through the garbage. I think that's a big step forward. If only Aldo would go back to Acapulco but he won't for a while. He did, though, size up Ariel quickly. And his look at the end was "I want to hit this man."

While I was watching my recordings today's episodes, I had to pause to run to the kitchen for a moment. I paused in the middle of Fernando's conversation with Omar. The look on his face showed just how ticked off he is that Aldo has encroached on what Fernando considers his territory. He's controlling his jealousy but if I were Aldo, I wouldn't push him to the limits. Tomas can tell Aldo very accurately what happens when Fernando loses it.

Paula, I did not know that about the word guapo. I have always used it to mean good-looking or handsome. Thanks for setting me straight.

I'm cogitating over your theory about Aldo. Yeah, I guess I would have to agree that maybe he could be sucking up to those who are close to Lety. If so then he definitely will not be making friends with Ariel. The Alicia thing, maybe he just feels sorry for her. But when Aldo first noticed Lety in Acapulco, he noticed her because she was crying and in torment. He really liked her from the beginning because their mutual pain made them kindred spirits (if I am recalling correctly). He seemed oblivious to her looks and was attracted to her because she was a lost soul. I still think he has a predilection toward those types of people.

I can't deny that Tomas sees Aldo as a threat to him but he protested just a bit too much for that to be the only reason. He went on quite a tirade and ended up revealing a bit more about himself I thought.

Sylvia, Aldo has a predeliction for those types of people because they make him look good and feel better. He can spout his philosophical verboseness and the women swoon and think he is so wise. Granted Aldo has a great smile, but what's there behind the smile. And the turtleneck!! Oh my, please go buy some new clothes. Aldo, you can afford them.

I agree that Tomas' tirade seemed to be hold some pent up feelings of years of feeling mistreated because of his being a feo, BUT Tomas has also tried to be-friend Fern (earlier this day) who also could be considered "guapo." So I think Paula might be right about the fact that he just perceives Aldo to be a threat at this point (I think Tomas is totally clueless btw).

The only problem I have with your theory Paula about the folks Aldo decides to be-friend is that he would have tried harder with Tomas if this was totally an accurate theory, but so far he hasn't. He's teased Tomas and has tried to be nice to Alicia. I think there are just simply people he clicks with and those he doesn't. He seems to be one of those guys who has very few male friends (sort of like a girl who doesn't have very female friends). That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

I'll make sure I use "guapo" correctly in the future! LOL

Barbara- Fern is controlling his jealousy because at this point he has no real "right" to be jealous of Aldo. He'd have hell to pay if he let his jealousy get too out of control in front of Marcia or let any of it creep into Conceptos.

Paula - you pointed out that Marcia thinks Lety spilled the beans to the cuartel about all that happened. I wonder why she has such a problem with it since she ran and told Alicia all of her business. Plus she's gone and told Teresita as well - although neither one has really gossiped about it - I think it's quite simply because neither Alicia, nor Teresita have any other friends besides Marcia to gossip to...wonder if Marcia will confront Lety about it.

I hate that the cuartel feels the need to gossip in such public places. Their hissing at Fern was quite funny though. I like them only when they are providing comic relief!

I don't think Aldo could avoid Alicia if he wanted to. He's like a giant rare earth magnet, and Alicia is a paper clip. She can't help but follow him around, and he can't do anything to repel her. (Actually, I think the magnet is his wallet. As an experiment, he should stick his wallet in a drawer and see if she continues to follow him around.)

On the other hand, maybe he senses that Alicia is Lety's opposite, and hopes to gain some insight that way.

I just posted several pictures. Thank you, Pata! I just love the one where Fernando is embracing the trash bag.

Sylvia, the guapo comment wasn't directed at you in particular. It's just that the word was important in today's cap.

Barbara. Hmm. The trash bag as a symbol of Lety. I was thinking of it as a symbol of their relationship and his memories of it, but I like your idea. You said that he was willing to get soiled. I'm sure that means something; I don't know what.

Sylvia, I agree, Aldo does like rescuing the bird with the broken wing, so that could well explain his attention to Alicia, but not the cuartel. All he does with them is flash his Chicklets to make them swoon. I REALLY didn't like him kissing up to MamaJ: "You remind me of my deceased mother." To a woman like Julieta, that's more heartwrenching than the night she found Moty.

BTW, the Aldo detractors say he's bland. I'll tell you who's REALLY bland - MOTY! Is that dog stoned or something? Lety arrives home and Moty MAYBE exerts the energy to look in her direction. Lety gets all oopy-boopy with him and he just looks at her, bored. My friend has a Bichon and the thing never stops moving. If you did that with my friend's dog, he'd get so excited he'd pee on himself. I honestly wonder if they drug the dog.

Fernando was willing to get dirty and stinky just to retrieve some memories of Lety and their relationship. That's a plus for him because he's always been so fastidious. Can someone tell me why the big changes in Alicia? I watched on YouTube some earlier episodes and she was not wearing overly revealing clothes, hair that's teased to death, or a grating tone of voice. Why the changes? Did they occur after Ariel raped her?

I will give Aldo credit for seeing Ariel for the scum bucket that he is. Watch that final scene with the two of them and you can see Aldo's eyes narrow significantly.

Lety really showed her heart that she still is so in love with Fernando and can't let go of him in her heart. What was the key thing she said to Caro? I must have missed it.

Paula, hey I am here to learn so you and everyone else have my permission to let me know if something I say is not quite right. I didn't think it was directed at me personally but I was the one flinging the word around.

Julie, you're too funny with your wallet comments.

I agree Julie that Aldo couldn't avoid Alicia if he tried. She's following him around like a puppy. But his early interactions with her were very sarcastic -- though she couldn't see it through that big ego mirror she carries. It'll be interesting to see how he treats her now that he's seen her vulnerability.

I loved the scene with Aldo & Tomás. And yes Tomás' main problem with Aldo is certainly Alicia but there sure was more history in that excessive rant about guapos destructiveness.

The dumpster diving was hilarious -- and that clutching of the stuffed giraffe was adorable. Camil has such a wonderful face and range of emotions.

Guera

Simon Joseph just cracks me up sometimes--his singing and dancing reminds me of one of my co-workers--and his use of english, and 'Don Fernie'.
I must admit I got misty-eyed when Fernando finally found the trash bag, and hugged the little stuffed giraffe.
Absolutely cracked me up when Omar and Nando play 'who gets the main chair' in their shared office. And , after Omar ran around the desk and landed in the head honcho chair, he called Nando "EX-presidente".
For the heck of it I looked up a few characters and their ages. Now, mind you, they may be playing certain ages on the program, but, in real life;
Aldo (Jan '66) was 40 yrs old at the time of the show;
Omar (8/68), was 38 yrs old;
Fernando (7/73) was 33 yrs old;
Lety (11/75), was 31 yrs old.
Oh and a little FYI: Jaime is of Egyptian descent--kind of adds to that Omar Sharif 'guapísimo'-ness!
Feliz Día de San Valentín a todos!

Paula H.--You Tube has a few videos of La Fea bloopers, one of which features our little Moty. It's hillarious and shows he's definitely not drugged.

Thanks, Marie. Jaime is 1/4 Egyptian (paternal grandfather), but as much as he looks like his father, he might as well be 1/2. By blood anyway. His heart is pure unashamed Mexican. Marie, you may not want to refer to him as Nando. Many of us saw a TN with a particularly loathsome villain named Fernando. It was soon after the first run of LFMB, and many of us couldn't bear to use the same name, so we called him Feo-nando or just Nando. Now I can't hear "Nando" without thinking of that desgraciado.

GP, I can't tell you the significant line Caro said - it would be a spoiler. But I suspect that other veterans were surprised to hear the foreshadow.

I really hated how Aldo treated Lety at the start of the first episode. Read items 1 & 2 from cap 211 carefully. The way he manhandled her, and how he changed the subject so she'd feel safe to come out from behind the desk, but as soon as she came out, he returned to the original subject.

Lety has had two fantasies in the past few show-days. When she stabbed Omar in the hand, Fernando held her. This time it was that he declared his love, asked her forgiveness, and kissed her. The only difference between the fantasy and last night at Santuario, is that she let him kiss her. She keeps saying she wants him far away, but obviously her fantasies don't agree.

Aldo likes to present himself as cool and laid back but he constantly pushes the issue with Lety. Notice how he always crowds her even when she backs away. He isn't really good at picking up physical clues.

I'd love to see a face off between Aldo and Ariel but don't hold out any hope for it. Aldo saw how Ariel was verbally abusing Alicia but he didn't step in to stop it. My feeling was less about him not wanting to encourage Ali then the fact that here was no benefit for him.

The dumpster diving and lining up the animals was one of my favorite scenes ever.

Ok - I posted something earlier, but wanted to watch over again just to make sure my interpretation was right...

First of all - I think Lety uses the area behind her desk as a safe place. I notice that she goes behind it anytime she needs to be strong (it gives her confidence). She went behind it twice in her conversation with Aldo and she was also sitting behind it today when she and Caro were discussing her feelings for Fern. I think it's the place that gives her a bit of clarity.

That said - I think that Aldo was pushing her to face her feelings a la Dr. Phil...remember she's done the same thing with him in getting him to face his father. She may not have crowded his personal space when she did it, but I think this is just him returning the favor and forcing her to face up to what's happening in her life. I'd have to go back to look at those eps in Acapulco to see what his body language was like when she was pushing him to open up about his situation and actually call his father, but I'll assume that it was probably pretty closed off as well...

The one thing I'd like to point out is that Lety seems to hang on to Aldo like he's a life raft. That's the first thought I had when she hugs him. Then again when she goes back to him a 2nd time - he's wrapped his arms around her, but she's grabbed his hands to keep him wrapped around her...then later on right before the cuartel is in the room she grabs him before he can go and leans in for a kiss. I think we all agree Lety feels conflicted - she's in love with Fern, but feels this strange new attraction/magnetism to Aldo...she's not sure what to believe at this point. Then she goes behind the desk again and has that sad look on her face...

I agree Aldo should take it slow at this point. He can be there as a friend for Lety and as a support, but if he tells her about his feelings now it will only make the situation worse.

Aldo senses that things are not as they seem with Fern and Lety. It's pretty obvious to him that Fern is jealous and loves Lety. He seems to be the only one to see this besides Omar (who knows only because Fern is his bestie). What I wonder is how long Fern's feelings will remain a secret with all of the gossips in that place!

One correction to my post above - Lety and Caro were talking biz at the desk before she started in on her Fern fantasy so it probably wouldn't have made much sense to change their seating arrangements at that point.

I also forgot how funny the fantasy was with Caro just hanging around in the back holding onto that card. LOL

Sorry I'm posting so late, but reading through everyone's posts as well as the ones from 2006, a weird thought shot through my head. Now, mind you, I am not a veteran, and I'm not attempting to do any spoiler. But.... Could Aldo be some kind of angel sent to get Fern and Lety together the way they are suppose to be together? Could he be tied in with Mr. PG guy and all his mysticism? Are they sent to teach both of them some "Grand Lesson on Life and Love"?

Just some weird, random vibe that I got reading today's postings.....

Oh, well, I may be WAY off base, but ya gotta admit, it IS an idea?????

Diann

Don't worry, Diann. By definition, only veterans can post spoilers. New viewers only have speculations. But I'm glad you reminded us that you're a new viewer, not a veteran.

Whoever asked about Alicia's change. One explanation is that as her economic state worsens, she becomes more of what she is. So her clothing becomes even smaller, and her fighting with the cuartel becomes harsher. As for why those two factors (poverty and clothing) are connected, I don't know. I'm too sleepy. Goodnight.

Paula-thanks for the info re; 'Nando'. I had no idea of this other villain character, and certainly don't want Fernando correlated with him!
A little FYI:
I saw of the LFMB Facebook page that Angelica had her (wedding) civil ceremony in Miami, where she lives, yesterday. They posted a lovely photo of her and her new hubby.
Her official 'wedding' will be the 19th, in Mexico, and Jaime was invited, but no telling if he will be thereas of yet.

Marie - I think Jaime is supposed to show up. From Twitter it sounds like he plans to attend and may be a part of some performance as well...

Interesting point about Alicia morphing into what she really is...since we've talked about Lety having a transformation and the both being the same, but opposite sides of the coin, then it makes sense that Alicia should have some sort of transformation as well.

Fernando willing to get soiled - in other words, for the first time in his life, he's willing to get his hands dirty, both literally and figuratively.

He got his hands dirty before, sort of, when he had Lety fix the books, but that was a white-collar kind of hands-dirtying. Now he's really going to have to roll up his sleeves.

I doubt that the dog was drugged; it was AV's own pet. Older dogs are much mellower than younger ones, however, and that's probably explanation enough for Moty's occasional sluggishness. (To be fair, Polly didn't calm down until she was around 10.)

Regarding Aldo's treatment of Alicia, recall that Eduardo was gentle with her too. Someone like Alicia is an easy target for putdowns, suggestive comments, and inappropriate flirting. Eduardo and Aldo stand out to us because they have both spoken to her respectfully and shown no interest in getting into her pants. (Even Tomas cannot make such a claim!) That's just the decent way to behave, but she's not used to it!

Maybe Tomas's rant about guapos had to do with his anger about what Fernando did to Lety, too.

On the other hand, if he cares that much about Lety, he really should have been thanking Aldo for helping Lety when she was in Acapulco. (And then added, "but she's better now, so scram!")

On the third hand, maybe he's worried that Aldo will end up hurting Lety too, in addition to keeping Alicia away from him.

Marie - civil ceremony - that explains it. Thanks. The commercials for the gossip shows had clips, and the wedding wasn't the big blowout I was expecting, and Jaime barely mentioned it on his Twitter. But knowing it was the civil, and the big event will be Saturday, that makes sense. Busy week for her. Two weddings in two countries, plus she and Jaime are hosting the Premios Thursday in Miami, which means practice this week. Busy, busy.

GP, you asked, "Would Fern dig in the trash were it not for Aldo?" Yes, I think so. The cards are too significant to him.

BUT I agree with what your question implies. Fernando is the poster child for "You know the worth of water when the well goes dry." He didn't even recognize that he loved her until Lety found the letter and started rejecting him. He didn't put her first until she left (e.g. after the meeting when he heard Lety crying in her office). And now she's back and he's pining for her, but he's not DOING anything. He made the big push at Santuario, but nothing else. He's not even helping her with Conceptos. At the moment, Aldo is just a vague threat. If Fern's track record is any indication, he needs to see Aldo as an immediate threat before he gets off his cute butt and starts "working my way back to you, Babe" (Marie, isn't that song in the category "Philadelphia Sound"?).

Jaime is in Miami now, got there yesterday. They start rehearsals for Premio Lo Nuestros today. He and Angie are hosting the show on Thursday on Univision.

About Fern "not doing anything" its because Lety keeps telling him to stay away! I think not doing anything is, in his way, respecting her wishes. He did try at the bar S. but again she pushed him away. (figuratively). I think its a good sign that he is still wanting her and knows he is in love with her. (Even though she is being awful to him). It also a good sign that he is not putting his wants first. Always in the past he would push her to want he wanted at that time. As long as he gives her time and he remains in love, the two HAVE to get back together.

The dumpster dive---> whoa was that great or what?! I loved how Fern told Simon not to dirty his jacket and then noticed it was the same designer that he buys and then asks Simon how long he has to hungry for in order to buy suits....LOL
The finding of the bolsa was precious. A look at the inside mushiness of Fernando Mendiola. Makes ya just want to love him more....(Lety wake UP) LOL

P.S. Paula, got my nomenclature wrong with the spoiler vs. speculation. Yes, I'm speculating about an angel theory......

Oh forgot--->yesterday on El Gordo y La Flaca they had a segment about Angie's wedding last Saturday. It was at her and Otto's new house in Coral Gables, FL in their backyard. It was the civil ceremony (for USA I guess) and was attended by about 80 people. Mainly Otto's family who couldn't go to Mexico City this Saturday.
And yes, Jaime was one of the first invitees to the giant ceremony in DF. It will be held at one of the most expensive places in DF (according to La Flaca-->Lili Esteban) and there were 1200 invited guests. Angie has said they sent out 600 invitations...
She originally wanted to Twitcam the wedding, but realized they couldn't technically. She promises to post pics to her Twitter.
That's all the gossip for now,
Ciao ya all,
Diann

Diann - I missed that line from Fern to Saimon...funny! I think Fern has done a few things, but not nearly enough.

You make a very good point Diann about whether pushing Lety to talk about things is for or against her wishes. I wonder about what's good for her vs. what's in her wishes. I think that might be a problem folks have with Aldo here - he's pushing her (seemingly) against her wishes, but pushing her might be the very thing she needs. Where Fern chooses to take her at her word and stay away (with a few exceptions). I'll have to think about this a bit more, but I think it'll be key somewhere down the road. Needs vs. wishes.

@ Diann- I agree Aldo needs to become an immediate threat for Fern to truly become mobilized (if that). By mobilized I mean get rid of Marcia (I know I keep saying it, but it's true) until he gets rid of her he CAN'T have a healthy relationship with Lety.

Heck! I'd be happy if Fernando would meet with Tom to work out the budgets like Lety instructed him to. Or contacted a few potential clients to come in on the food campaign. If he's respecting her wishes, her greatest wish is to get the debt paid, and he hasn't done a thing to help her with that.

I think it's good for Aldo to offer Lety opportunities and support, and make it easier for her to let him know when she's ready. And I think it's fine for him to remind her once in a while. But my threshold for that sort of thing is extremely low, so it just seems like pushing and nagging to me and my instinct would be to push him away twice as hard.

In other words, his intensity is like "8" and I need him to dial it down to maybe 2 or 3.

When Lety turned away from Aldo and he forcefully turned her back toward him, I just wanted to smack him!

Well, I really don't like the manhandling, and it's one of the reasons I'm confused as to whether I'm *supposed* to like him or not. (That is, did the writers intend for that to be neutral, appealing, or a complete turn-off.)

I've noticed there is a lot of manhandling in these TNs, slapping people at work as well as at home, physically pushing people around, stuff like that. I'm sure it's not that way in real life but I'm not sure why it's OK in these shows. Sometimes Conceptos feels like cartoon land to me even though it is in the supposed real life of the DF.

Paula,
The song you mentioned "Workin My Way back to You" 1st came out in the ';60's (Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons). But it is the 2nd version, by the Spinners in the '70's that would fall under the "Philly Sound".

Thanx for the info about the boda, and the thursday night Premios. Unfortunately I have to work--
¡Ay caray!

I'm not 100% sure about Mexican culture and the issue of personal body space, but something to keep in mind is that in some cultures it's not considered rude at all to be as close as Aldo is...I'm not sure that he's playing Argentinean in his role as Aldo, but I know sometimes they are considered to be very forward and affectionate even with business contacts. I remember this because one of my b-school friends was Argentinean and it was one of the things we discussed in our "Managing Across Culture's" classes. So - I say that to say perhaps it's not really Aldo being rude at all when he gets in Lety's personal space the way that he does...

Just my 2 cents...

@Paula - so glad I could make your day a little better. I have something to look forward to now I guess! Can't wait.
