La Fea Más Bella #277-278 3/31/11 Should Fernando be with Aurora? 2 votes yes, 3 votes no.
Capitulo 277.

1. They film the first scene of the pilot, Corazón Corazón Amor. Agent Inocencio Tenorio looks sharp in a tuxedo, but his client faints when she sees his face.
2. Jax tells them to shoot the pilot with Fernando and Aurora. Lety faints. Aldo thinks it would be wonderful for Fern and Aurora (2 times) to be together. Lety faints again. Jax says Conceptos could earn $4M on the project.
3. The brujas read Lety and Marcia’s e-mails. They discover that Ali won’t let her husband touch her. Her excuse is that to get pregnant, they must only have relations when she’s fertile.
4. Lety tells Caro that she can’t endure this double life and she needs to reveal that she’s Aurora. Fern tells the executives he needs to write five more episodes tonight, so he’ll need Lety’s help. Aldo rejects that idea and says that tonight Lety is his alone. Lety says, .. well, what’s it matter what Lety says, when she has Aldo to make her decisions for her?
5. Aldo tells Lety he’s setting up a new restaurant. Lety asks what would happen if Aurora were a fraud. Aldo says he’d think poorly of her because he hates deception and there is never an excuse for it. For the third time, Aldo says Aurora would be the perfect woman for Fernando (3 times).
6. Fern and Omar fall asleep working on the script. Caro admits to Marcia that Omar has changed and she feels drawn to him, especially as he suffers. Marcia reminds Caro that Omar loves Aurora, and counsels her from experience that it’s a bad move to fall for a man who’s in love with another – it only means suffering.
7. Lety asks her parents how they’d feel if she changed her look to something like Aurora. RoboPop blows a fuse and reminds her that she’s a decent girl.
8. Fern tells his diary, “Lety, how I wish you were sharing this place with me. I won’t lose hope that one day you’ll be with me again. My love for you is infinite. I sense that you love me. I keep my distance but you are still in my heart. One day someone will read my memoirs. I hope they realize that love, true love, changes everything. I changed from the great seductor to a lonely man in love, writing alone in his room.
9. Lety tells Caro that she’s trapped. She can’t reveal Aurora. Tom and Ali return.

2. Fern admits that Aurora is guapa. He interprets Lety’s strong reaction as jealousy so he runs with it. He says he has to go on living, and maybe he could get together with Aurora. Lety objects strongly. Fern is tickled to see her “jealous” reaction.

5. Aldo sees Aurora in the vortex and doesn’t recognize Lety. He tells Tom he thinks she’d be great with Fernando (4 times). He finds out he might be able to buy back his restaurant.
6. Fern tells Marcia that he promised Lety he’d respect her relationship, but it’s awfully hard. So he faked an interest in Aurora, even though he can’t stand her and he could never like anyone but Lety. He did it so Lety could enjoy Aldo in peace. Marcia admires his sacrifice. Fern makes sure the cuartel sees him attend to Aurora.
7. Alicia mocks Omar because Aurora blows him off. Paula needles Omar a little more, saying it seems like Aurora prefers Fernando. Omar is furious at Fern for taking the girl he likes, yet again, the only one he’s ever loved. Caro overhears and suffers. Lety tries to warn Fern that Aurora will just make him suffer. Again Fern is thrilled that she’s jealous.
8. Lety goes to Aldo’s office and sees Carmina flirting. When they’re alone, Lety is almost crying when she says it bothers her to see them together. Aldo chuckles.
9. Aldo and Lety duck away to a park. They recite what sounds like a love poem for two voices, or maybe pseudo-vows. Aldo asks Lety to marry him.

Lety's outfits were ugly; I guess to match the fea persona. I am so disappointed in Lety because she is leading two men on; not counting Omar when she is Aurora. She keeps giving both Aldo and Fernando hope. I hate to see Fernando get his hopes up and know that they will be crushed in the next episode. Lety must like being treated like she can't make decisions because she allows Aldo to rule her. Marriage to him would not be a partnership, that's for sure. When he stepped in and said that Lety couldn't work with Fernando on the script because he wanted her to himself that night, I wanted to smack Aldo. And Lety let him do that. It just boggles my mind that she would allow Aldo to make all her decisions for her. Where is her backbone? With Aldo she has none but with Fernando she has one.
Did you notice the scene in Aldo's office when he was pressing up against Lety? She giggles and moves away. Anytime he moves to far into her space, she does that. But when Fernando moves into her space, Lety just lets him and it takes a couple of minutes before the two of them realize they need to separate. How's Lety going to deal with Aldo when they are married? He'll insist upon his husbandly rights - you can't argue with me on that - and she won't have an escape mechanism. But Lety isn't thinking that far ahead. She's only thinking moment by moment and considering what's best for her. Unfortunately, though I think somewhat unintended, she is basically saying to hell with anyone else. Gee, she's getting a lot like Aldo lately, isn't she?
Funny scene when Fernando was sitting at the president's desk, Lety on the other side. She gets him to move and then doesn't like that he's in the subordinate position so they change back. Goodness knows, it would be great if Lety at least halfway understood herself. Whether she likes it or not, she is Aurora and Aurora is her.

Here is what bugged me most about Aldo today. Lety is almost crying when she talks about Aldo working with Carmina, and Aldo just chuckles. Obviously he doesn’t know about the Prime Directive (Lety must not suffer). He says the reason she’s jealous is because they never have time together. Is he saying it’s Lety’s fault that Carmina is stalking him and giving him kisses?
I missed that, Paula. I thought Aldo was delighted that Lety was jealous. But that's the difference between Aldo and Fernando. With Aldo, it's all about him, even if Lety suffers. For Fernando, it's protect Lety so that she doesn't suffer. When Aldo proposes, as seen in the preview, and Lety will most likely accept, Fernando will step aside because he won't allow Lety to suffer. He has a better grasp on reality than Aldo. He knows that if he stays close in Lety's life as she prepares to marry Aldo, she will suffer and he can't have that. For Fernando, he would rather bear the suffering than have Lety do it. What a man!

Hello! Longtime recap reader, first time poster. Thanks to all of the great recappers past and present! I can understand what is happening but my Spanish isn't current enough on the slang and idioms so it's nice to have those written out.
My guess is that Tomas is extremely ignorant about women and their "fertile days" and that Alicia will make him think that is once or twice a year- and a very long time from now.
My first telenovela was Preciosa (she was an aerialist in the circus) and it was hilarious. Plus I liked that it had a beginning, middle and end. Jaques in LFMB turned out to be her rich father and the head doctor at a hospital. BEST WEDDING scene ever. The elite of DF on one side and the circus folks on the other. Still makes me smile. As do so many of your posts :-)

I loved the scenes between Lety and Caro today. It was especially cute when Caro imitated Lety's little girl voice and they carried on the rest of their conversation with both of them in that voice.

Hated the Yellow palsey suit Letty had on. What was all that dribble in the park about with Aldo and Letty. Loved the little scene in the office with Fern at Lety's desk.

The Fernando that we are seeing now is the Fernando that Lety believed he could be. It's the man that she fell in love with. It's hard not to fall in love with Fernando the way Jaime Camil is playing him. The understated acting, the subtle nuances, the tears that gently flow down the face, the pain and agony reflected in the face, and the protector role he has assumed - how can you not love him for all that?

I'm going to add one more comment about Jaime Camil. Compare his acting with Valentino Lanus in Llenda De Amor. Jaime is subtle; Valentino is, at times, overacting and his expressions are always maxed. Valentino is believable as Emanuel, but Jaime owns the role of Fernando. If ever they try to do a remake of La Fea, no one else but Jaime could play Fernando. If they remake Llena de Amor, anyone could play Emanuel.
Whether good or bad, the role of Fernando Mendiola will always be associated with Jaime Camil. Doesn't mean he can't do other roles and do them well because he can. What versatile actor and I would suggest that he is one of the best in the business today.
I couldn't see what you other ladies saw in Tan Divino Camil when La Fea started again. Now I do.

Yes Fernando is Camil & Camil is Fernando. I saw him in Tontas & he was cute but I didn't get what all the excitement was about. Now I know. You're right no one else could do Fernando so well.

The funny thing is, the fans of the Colombian feel exactly the same about JEA as Dr Armando. But I do agree with you.

He has said many times that the role changed his life completely. He certainly has the range to different characters. I thought he was fantastic in his role in 7 Dias. And wouldn't you love to see him do a remake of Valentino's The Sheik? But he has such a gift for comedy, it almost seems a crime for him to do anything other than romantic comedy.

I'm watching the caps now - almost done with #278. Guera sometimes it's almost as if I'm posting under your name because hands down so far today my fave scenes were Lety and Caro together. I liked it because it showed Lety as she could be - earlier today I sort of felt like they were exaggerating her social awkwardness, but then there was such a great contrast when she and Caro were together.
I hate this whole Aurora storyline - I'm just hoping they finally reveal Lety someone soon! It's not as bad as before, but I really just wanted her to tell everyone already. The whole asking people what they think about her if she were a fraud - NO!! You don't do that just rip the band aid off and tell already!!!
i also caught a promo of the telenovela with Juan Soler and the crazy editor lady...it apparently will be premiering on Univision again on April 18th. Maybe it's going to replace LFMB? I missed the time...

Ok - I just watched the scene with Lety, Aldo and crazy editor and I have to say it doesn't look to me like she's almost crying. I think she's playing it for comedy personally. Just my opinion - I don't see it as her almost crying - I think it's sort of mild jealousy (I really don't feel she was really all that jealous to be honest - in the end she'd be relieved if she could find a reason to break up with Aldo and go back to Fern), a little discomfort and maybe something else, but they def were playing comedy in that scene.
I agree Lety does this moving away from Aldo thing whenever they are together, but sometimes I think that's her silly way of flirting with Aldo. In the scenes today - I think that was it...but I agree at other times she's really trying to get away from him.

Ah the clothes. In the beginning Lety had on that blue jacket which looked like it would have fit better on a six and half foot tall 250 pound man. It positively hung on her. As for that yellow thing I believe a bunch of old ladies have couches covered in that same fabric. I also noticed that Ali is dressed way more demurely than her single days with a long skirt and less boob display.
Laughed with Lety fainting several times in the control room and Jax? asking is she was pregnant. That went right over everyone's head.
The cuartel who I gave points to during the wedding when they SEEMED sympathetic to Ali lost them today and many more. It is unbelievable to me that executive secretaries would read personal e-mail, then print copies and call a confab to discuss the contents. Yet another firing offense in almost every company ion the world. These women have no boundaries and obviously have never heard the words privacy or discretion.
Total agreement that the Caro/Lety scene and the Fern/Marcia ones were great. Both of them showed different aspects of the characters.
Love Fern commenting on Aurora's looks to Letyand her flipping out that the other woman was not for him. I can not decide if that is because she knows the woman is a fake or because deep down she is jealous of the idea of him being interested in anyone else. It's what I call her dog in the manger attitude.
I didn't see Lety as being close to tears when she was with her owner. It was more like jealousy which showed when she mimicked editor witches walk. An Aldo's smirk made me want to give a swift kick.
It's really nice to see how Fern and Omar have changed while unfortunately Lety goes on being the same baby talking scared of her shadow adolescent. Have come to the conclusion that Aldo deserves her and the tan divino Fern deserves much better.

Decie - I would have definitely fired the cuartel long ago, but reading personal emails takes the cake. It's just gotten out of control with them.
I have a random question/observation - when Fern and Omar were arguing today over Aurora near the end of #278 - I thought their accents changed. Did anyone else notice this? Was I just hearing things - it seems like they sort of went very colloquial there were even some words I couldn't find (although my captions could have been wrong).
I'll have to check out "7 dias"...

one more thing I noticed and it was in the comments on the old recaps - Aldo's look to Aurora after he came back out - when I saw it, I thought it was just Juan Soler breaking character and grinning because he knows that the Aurora character is actually Lety. That's what I thought when I saw the scene...

Okay, now that I've seen it - it's hard to tell whether she's almost-crying or not. Everything about her manner suggests that she is being flip and teasing him, EXCEPT for a little tremble in her voice.
For the life of me, I don't know why she would almost-cry on seeing him accept a kiss from Carmina. She didn't react that badly seeing Fern with Marcia (granted she was prepared for it). In fact, if I were in Lety's sturdy shoes, I'd be tempted (at least subconsciously, if not overtly) to encourage that relationship.

Oh, and that yellow jacket she was wearing? Paula, your description "pond scum jacket with algae print" is an insult to pond scum and algae. Pond scum and algae aren't attractive, but they're relatively unobtrusive. Unlike that loud monstrosity of a jacket!
