La Fea Más Bella #295-296 4/13/11 A New Lety, a Renewed Fernando, an Improved Luigi, and the Same Old Alicia.

Since Alicia is Leaving on a Midnight Plane to .. Geneva??, Aldo and Fernando synchronize their steps; they want to be Pips, Region 4. The picture on the left is Gladys Knight and the Pips singing Leaving on the Midnight Train to Georgia. Why, you almost can't tell the difference, huh?

Capitulo 295A. Read k-Fuego’s original recap.

1. Jax gives Lety the first payment for CCA, a check for $1M. Ali hears it and speculates that with that money she could buy jewelry and shoes for life, and not need her husband.

2. Luigi’s father, Luis, is in the vortex, but Luigi refuses to see him. Luis tells Irma Luigi’s mother is dying and wants to see him for the last time. Irma tells Luigi.

3. Humberto tells Fernando how proud he is of his son. Even Ariel recognizes that he did a good job. Amid the success, Fern sees Lety’s sadness. He goes to the cave and calls Aldo’s publisher to get his contact info. He speaks to Carmina, so he knows she lied about moving in with Aldo.

4. Lety tells Fern she’s very proud of him. He says he has recovered his old confidence. Today could be the happiest day in his life, but he’s still missing half of himself. He takes the plunge and asks Lety to marry him. He once thought he could do everything, but he failed at everything. He lost the company, the respect of his family, and Lety. Now he’s recovered two out of three, and all that’s missing is Lety. He says, “The time has arrived that we can be happy together. Marry me, okay?” She says, “I can’t.” He asks her forgiveness and runs to the cave.

5. Fern tells Julieta what happened. He shouldn’t have asked because he knows she loves Aldo, but he can’t stop loving her. Still, he knows he has to help her be happy with Aldo.

6. Luigi tells Lety someone needs to see him but he’s afraid. Lety offers to go with him.

7. Ali drools over the $1M check.

Capitulo 295B. Read Alma’s original recap.

8. Marcia tells the cuartel she got another love note from her secret admirer. She requests his picture. It’s a very scary-looking guy.

9. Luigi sees Luis at the hospital. Luis tries to put the past to rest; the important thing is Luigi’s mother. But Luigi insists on airing all his frustrations against his father. The doctor comes and says mama’s critical. Her heart won’t hold up much longer.

10. Lety asks God to help Lui’s mom. Mama asks Lui’s forgiveness for not protecting him from Luis, nor changing Luis’s mind. She says she accepts Luigi as he is. Lui says if she accepts him, he can accept others as they are. Moments later she is miraculously cured.

11. Alicia breaks into the Conceptos account from Tom’s computer.

12. Lety asks the mirror who she is. Luigi now sees Lety’s luminescence and he loves (querer) her. He wants to do something for her because she freed him form the rancor with his parents. He does a makeover and asks what she’ll do now. Will she hide again like she did with Aurora, or will she make herself Aurora?

Capitulo 296A. Read Julie’s original recap.

1. Presumably, Ali’s papi gives her the green light to embezzle from Conceptos. She makes an airline reservation on Tom’s credit card.

2. Fern goes to Acapulco and tells Aldo that Lety played Aurora because of her love for Aldo. Aldo asserts that it was so she could be with Fernando. Aldo says Lety loves Fern. Fern says no, they’re just good friends. He proposed and she said no. All he wants is for her to be happy, and that means being with Aldo. Aldo observes that Fern loves Lety very much. He invites Fern to be his compadre in the opening.

3. The Conceptos clan presents New Lety to her parents. Pop is impressed. Lety says she’s learned that anyone can attain beauty. To prove it, Lety gives Mama a plucking.

4. Tom finds Ali packing. She says she has to travel for a treatment. She seems to almost regret what she’s doing to him and invites him to sleep with her. He decides not to, for the sake of their baby.

5. Fernando cries over his diary and says he was a fool the day he let Lety go. He would’ve sworn they’d end up together, but that’s not what happened. Meanwhile Aldo remembers Fernando saying that Lety’s happiness is at Aldo’s side. Aldo says, “The last word still hasn’t been said.”

Capitulo 296B. Read 5ft Latina’s original recap.

6. Fernando loves looking at Lety’s new look, and Lety enjoys it. Aldo walks in and breaks the news that Fern went looking for him. Aldo says they should get married right away, and Lety agrees. Fern is anxious to get Aldo paid so he and Lety can leave, because the longer she’s there the more it hurts.

7. Alicia makes the bank transfer. She cries for real when she leaves Tomás. Soon after, Tom reports to Lety that $1M is missing. Then he tells the board. Ariel says he’s going to jail. Aldo and Fern practice to be Pips, Region 4 (see the pictures at the top). Tom says someone made the transfer from his computer.

8. Alicia is turned back at the airport because her passport is expired. She faints. The nurse informs her that she’s pregnant, and she faints again. She goes back to the apartment. Tom and Ali cry a lot.

9. A dichoso (so-called) computer salesman wants to see Marcia, but in her office he admits he wants to ask her out. His name is Octavio. Marcia can’t decide between him and the phantom e-mailer.

10. Lety admits that she wants to marry Aldo as soon as possible. Fern admits that he wants the same because he quit dreaming that he has any chance with her anymore.

Comments:
I was thinking about two things that Diann and Paula had said yesterday. Diann said that Aldo scolded Lety like he was her father. Paula also said that she didn't understand Lety's insecurities since she came from such a close-kniit family. I think
it all has to do with her self-esteem. I came late to this party, so I'm sure you all have probably discussed this, but here's my opinion.

Lety has been considered ugly her whole life; therefore, she focused on her studies and became just a brain, so to speak. Her father encouraged this, and him being so overprotective hasn't served her well. He effectively, in my opinion, stunted her growth. He didn't let her dress like the other girls, he didn't let her have parties, she has been very
sheltered. The only interaction she had with classmates seems to be in school, where I'm sure she was just considered the smart girl and/or the ugly girl. So, I imagine that her interactions with peers were never so good. Instead of learning to deal with these things, she had her family to support her. I don't think that's bad in any way, mind you, I'm just saying she has been sheltered. So, her problem is not with what her family thinks of her, but of what the world thinks of her. I think many people expect their family to support them, even though in many cases, families turn their backs on each other. Btw, Luigi completley made me cry today. Anyway, I digress.

So, in her interactions with men, I can only assume she is clueless and desperate to cling to any man who chooses her because she doesn't feel worthy of anyone's love herself. With Fernando, in the beginning, when he wasn't in love with her, she acknowledged that something was wrong, but still didn't confront him about it. Maybe had she been more sure of herself, she would have questioned why he acted weird. Instead, she took all of his explanations, not only because she loved him, but I think also because she didn't want to rock the boat. He destroyed her, like her teenage boyfriend, and so she clings to Aldo now, not letting him go because she believes no one would love her. I know that may not seem to make much sense since it's obvious to anyone with eyes how much Fernando loves her. Unfortunately, she doesn't truly seem to love herself, or at the least be confident in herself.

Anyway, that's my slight analysis of Lety. In terms of her realtionship with Aldo, I think she is drawn to him because he is like her father in a way. He scolds her and instead of defending herself, she just takes the scolding. Although I recognize Aldo also didn't give her a chance to say much of anything. Anyway, it seems to me Aldo doesn't push her,and neither does her father. Both seem to be content with having Lety be a little girl; whereas, Fernando makes her act like the adult she is.

Okay, so sorry for that long winded analysis.

In terms of today's episodes, I get so annoyed with Lety. At this point, I almost get so exasperated that I think, Fernando, just find someone else because she's not worth it! I'm sure I have more thoughts but I can't think of much else right now. I absolutely love the screen shots at the top! Btw guys, thanks for all the information about the DVDs.

Alexis

I really want to thank Pata for today's screen shots! I had so much fun putting together doo-wop dancers series! Especially since the Pips song from the photo was such a perfect match for today.

I started thinking about Erasmo. Actually both Lety's men are like Erasmo! But with one very big difference.
Aldo and Lety interact like Erasmo and Lety.
Fernando and Lety interact like Erasmo and Julieta!

Yesterday's cap talked about Aldo giving both Fern and Lety roadmaps. Why? Don't forget Diann's theory, that Aldo was on a mission to keep Fern and Lety apart until Fern grew up and was worthy of Lety's love, and Aldo fell in love along the way.

Julie, I loved your analogy of Aldo trying to push the baby bird out of the nest, but she's more like a barnacle!! And I loved what you said, "the first time through LFMB was an extraordinary trip and it really got under our skins." Boy howdy! I'm eager to hear your musings on the second viewing.

What fine timing, Paula... here is "Musings, pt 2":

So, about this second trip through LFMB.

After first-time LFMB I didn't think I'd ever want to watch the whooooole thing again. I got the "official" DVD set, and even those paltry 16 hours or so seemed like a painful slog. (Of course they did - because they were so choppy!) I was grateful for the fun that I had had during the first run and decided to be content with that, because the odds of having such an experience again were slim to none.

So, when Paula told me that they were going to rerun the whole thing and she planned to host the rerun discussion on Caray, I thought she was nuts. Admirably ambitious, but nuts! I dreaded revisiting all the cuartel filler and endless rehashing. Two hours a day would be hell on my viewing schedule, too, even if I FF'd through all the boring stuff.

But Paula's enthusiasm was persuasive, and her dedication was inspiring. I also realized that there were all those episodes at the beginning that I had never seen. I couldn't pass up the chance to watch the first several month's worth of stuff leading up to Fern and Lety's first kiss.

I thought I'd try to watch those and then that would be it. After all, what else was there left to say about LFMB that hadn't been covered the first time around? What would we talk about?

Boy-oh-boy, was I wrong! And I'm so glad I was. Paula had really been doing her homework. There was still plenty left to explore. Pata's screenshots added so much more, too, especially when they gave us a chance to look at characters' reactions to various sorpresas y disgustos. Marta's insights on YSBLF shed a lot of light on things as well, as did her and Paula's translations of key scenes.

And the newbies. You know who you are. :-) I didn't think we'd get any new people on an afternoon rerun - new to Caray or new to LFMB. Again, I was way wrong, and I couldn't be happier. Your fresh brains brought a lot of great stuff to the party.

I'm not looking forward to this ending any more than I looked forward to the last one, but somehow this time it feels more complete, and that's thanks to Paula's leadership and hard work, and this incredible crew of thoughtful people. Thank you all so much. What an unexpected and wonderful treat this has been.

I loved the way Lety & Luigi interacted today. Her offer of support was touching. I know, I know, I'm an Aldo fan -- but I couldn't help noting how Aldo's message of overcoming fear was what Lety drew on to help Luigi face his fears today.

It was nice to see that both of her men reacted positively to Lety's new look. Or should I say all three since Erasmo was on board too.

I'm not sure the title is quite accurate. Alicia was certainly up to her old money grabbing, status hungry tricks -- but there was some real affection for Tomás in her good-bye and again when she was forced to return.

Alexis, your thoughts about Lety's insecurity are exactly what I'd been thinking. It is good that she felt secure with her family, but that didn't translate to self-esteem. Instead, her family's support was a sanctuary from the merciless treatment she got at school and in the neighborhood.

Erasmo didn't teach Lety to be strong and stand up for herself, either inside or outside the home. He actively discouraged her from taking risks and exploring her social options, and he taught her to hide away from the world when things got too scary.

Close-knit families certainly can foster self-esteem, but they can just as easily enable dependence.

I've been catching up on yesterday's episodes, and you know what's funny? Thinking of all the different names at that restaurant Paula mentioned yesterday...

There are so many fine restaurants in the area (Le Noir, et al) for Fernando and his fancy friends. Yet the cuartel has only La Comidilla. What's up with that?

Perhaps all the other budget-friendly places banned the cuartel for being so loud and obnoxious.

This is one of those times that I'm sort of at a loss for words. These were powerful episodes - great highs and very low lows. My heart goes out to Fernando - the pain was etched all over his face. I actually think that Alicia is happy about being pregnant and her tears are from the fact that she knows she has to tell Tomy what she did.

I do wonder, though, what is Lety thinking. Fernando has done everything to prove his love to her and she runs to scolding, father-figure Aldo. Does she have some sort of sick father complex? Though I know it won't happen, Fernando needs to cut his losses and go find someone who can love him completely, maturely, and whole-heartedly. Someone who does not have divided loyalties. Right now that's not Lety. And when you see her with Aldo, where's the passion? I see those two as friends but not the kind of best friends that husband and wife need to be.

Frankly speaking, Lety deserves to lose Fernando completely. She needs experience the awful pain that he's going through. Someone might say that she experienced it when she fell in love with Fernando but I don't think her pain then compares to his now.

Somehow, some way, all the pieces of the puzzle need to come together in Lety's brain and heart and she finally recognize the truth that everyone else, including Aldo, know. Lety's heart belongs to Fernando as his does to Lety. She just needs to grow up and be the woman she's supposed to be.

It was like nails on a chalkboard hearing Lety use the silly girl voice with her new look. Let's get the inside to match the outside and maybe she'll be worth marrying for Fernando. Oh and when you look at those kissable lips of Fernando's - how oh how can Lety deny him his heart's desire?

Barbara, I am as confused as you are. I still can't believe Lety broke up with Fern after accepting his first proposal. She got a second chance and turned that down too. WUT??

I know they say third time's the charm, but seriously, the second offer was worth at least two more under the circumstances! That makes three, so she'll just have to lump it with Aldo! Guess he should have tried a little harder to pry her loose!

Can't believe we just have two more days to go. It has been so much fun coming to this board looking for everyones fea wisdom.
I thought Lety going after her mother with a teaser was so funny today. And once again thanks so much Paula.

ACCKKK! I'm falling so behind and the ending is coming at us full force whether I'm ready for not. I've survived the past few days just reading the recaps and comments so a big shout out to all of you. I am thankful to all the Mayan or Aztec deities for all of you. BTW- my favorite Mayan god is (below is from from Wikipedia) Xochipilli!:
"Xochipilli was the god of art, games, beauty, dance, flowers, and song in Aztec mythology. His name contains the Nahuatl words xochitl ("flower") and pilli (either "prince" or "child"), and hence means "flower prince". As the patron of writing and painting, he was called Chicomexochitl." It goes on to say he is the patron of homosexuals and male prostitutes but it says that was added during the Toltec time. Everywhere I traveled in Mexico, the Toltecs got blamed for the negative stuff, like that human sacrifice thing. :-)

Since there wasn't a god or goddess of television and thus telenovelas, he seems a good fit.

Years ago I was fortunate to travel several times to Mexico chaperoning high school kids and when we went to Cancun I was entranced by the clay god figures. The shopkeeper was helping me because I didn't want any fertility goddesses. I first picked up a really decorative one and he was the god of corn. Meh. The next was Chac and we had enough rain where I lived. My next was, yep, the god of Death. Ouch. The shopkeeper wisely figured Xochipilli was my guy. Years later a cat knocked him off a shelf and he lost his head but I glued it back on and if you look closely he has a line there. I so enjoy the myths of the Maya and the stories of the Aztec (Cuauhtemoc and his feet being held to the fire) so has there every been a telenovela of ancient times? I've seen ads for some with colonial costumes but I never go into them. Maybe I'll have to write me a telenovela in my spare time. Would you watch it?

DrJ

Alexis, I'm glad that you can see that there are positives as well as negatives to Erasmo. The first time around, people could only see him as all bad.

Guera, yes, Alicia's feelings are beginning to surface, but it hasn't yet changed her behavior. Tomorrow I'm going to post a rather lengthy analysis of Alicia.

Julie, you mentioned La Comadilla. Notice that you never see anyone eating street tacos? Everyone says they're marvelous if your stomach can handle it. In fact, does anyone ever eat street tacos in TNs?

I remembered how I ached for Fernando the first time around, when Lety turned down his proposal. Pobrecito! How can she possibly say no to the perfect man, especially after all he's done to prove himself lately? In fact, for me that's the worst thing about the extension. To make it work, Lety had to keep rejecting Fernando long after there was any rational reason. OTOH, he's oh so sexy when he suffers!

Here's what I don't understand. To me, the Disengage Theory was supported once again today. I showed it in the pair of Aldo faces I posted - big smile when Fern says he proposed, and then the smile fades when Fern says Lety refused. But if that's the case, then why is he pushing for "Let's get married right away"? No me cuadra (it doesn't square with me; it doesn't add up).

I just finished watching today's caps and wow! Lots going on today and finally I got the real makeover that I've been hoping for...love the screenshots - they really add so much for today's caps. I didn't notice the Aldo reactions at all - so it's helpful to see them here.

Alexis - I wholeheartedly agree with your analysis of Lety. I've felt for a long time that her parents are partly to blame for a lot of her social awkwardness and stunted development. I think it's especially obvious during the earlier episodes. That's why I sort of think it would be important for her to get out on her own - her own apartment, life before she marries anyone. It probably won't happen given that we have two days (4 caps left - I think?), but that's what I think she needs before getting into a relationship with ANYONE.

I also think that we talked yesterday a bit about whether Lety truly loves Aldo. I think she does. Barbara- you wonder what Lety is thinking - I think she's thinking that she's in love with Aldo and that she doesn't want to lose him. For her it seems to be all about not losing him... It's probably not the healthiest of loves but I think she truly loves him. Whether Aldo truly loves Lety is still a question in my mind. The one thing I noticed is that much like Erasmo yesterday with Omar, Aldo also needed someone else to convince him that Aurora wasn't all bad.

I think that Lety will have to ask Fern to marry him if it will ever happen now. I just can't stand to see that poor man rip his heart out every single time he puts himself out there for Lety. :( Pobrecito Fernando...he's really out of this world now with his selflessness. Even if Lety never marries him - she's surely taught him a thing or two about true love. :) It's rather inspirational because I def realize I'm not nearly as evolved as he has become. There's NO WAY I'd travel to visit my beloved's restaurant and ask them to forgive and marry them. NO WAY! NO HOW! I especially loved that he noticed Lety's unhappiness during all of the celebrations after the screening of the TV show. He's truly in tune with her every emotion now.

Ahh Alicia - I really hoped yesterday was the start of something beautiful, but alas she had to go and mess things up! I really don't believe her dad is real now. He's just an imaginary voice in her head - I'm looking forward to your analysis tomorrow Paula. What I wonder is why Tomas hasn't missed the money she took earlier at this point and why he doesn't suspect Alicia at all? I guess love blinds all - especially in his case. I think he's going to be the one to take the fall for the missing money :( His scene at the end with Alicia was sort of heartbreaking.

-Loved Luigi & Lety today
-Loved Marcia's secret admirer developments - I also think Octavius is her real secret admirer (or maybe I'm wrong - I still have to read the full recaps)

It's been such a pleasure coming here to Caray Caray to share my newfound obsession with LFMB. I NEVER thought I'd spend nearly as much time watching or discussing this show and it's all because of you! You make me watch a lot more closely and it enriches my viewing experience to discuss it with you all. I wish we had more time now - I don't want it all to end!

Querida Julie, you're making me blush! I’m glad you’ve gained from my work on this board. You have no idea how much I gained from your work on the 2006/07 board. What goes around comes around. Your line, "When Paula told me she planned to host the rerun discussion on Caray, I thought she was nuts. Admirably ambitious, but nuts!" I love it! You obviously know that I don't take offense easily! jiji. When you said you'd join us on the rerun, I was thrilled because I remembered how enlightening your comments were before. I'm so glad that you stuck around past the first segment. Your comments this time have been equally valuable.

I discovered Fea near the end the first run, just a tad before Paula’s wedding. Then I got the complete disks. For the next six months, I was completely obsessed (maybe even diagnosable!). I pulled a few all-nighters. I took notes on recurrent themes, like Lety and Ali, equal and opposite. I transcribed dialogues for language study. I quit Spanish classes because I was learning much more from the show. I printed out recaps and tried to make the spoken words match the written recaps. My Spanish really took off. And thoughts of Fernando and Lety were never far from my consciousness.

But in all that, I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it. No one who cared that Fernando recovered his patron role. No one to help me spot foreshadows. No one to either fine tune or springboard off my observations. So for me, my first viewing was of a fabulous show, but I was all alone. This time around, it has been a fabulous viewing experience.

Julie’s right. The community this time is amazing. So many interesting diverse views, respectfully shared. You folks really dig into the nooks and crannies of the show. Because we’re a small group and we all have so much to say, I think we’ve gotten to know each other much better than is normal on Caray.

I decided to host this rerun board and post summaries, in the hopes that it would attract a community I could enjoy Fea with. The result has gone far beyond anything I could’ve hoped for. Words cannot express. Thank you.

DrJ, you mentioned the period telenovelas. One of the greatest TNs ever, in many people's opions, was the 1993 version of Corazón Salvaje, and that was a period piece. If they ever rerun that, I might be persuaded to host a Caray board, as long as they don't do 10 hours per week. If that happens, maybe this community will come together again.

Two favorites of the Caray board were Amor Real and Alborada, both with Colunga. They were also period pieces.

But as for precolombian, I've never heard of one.

Paula, your recapping work on LFMB has been so observant and stalwart. And thanks to Pata for the screen caps. I had to miss large chunks due to work, but loved reading the "new" recaps and discussions.
It was so sweet to see Lety and Luigi able to share such a pivotal experience. Loved his makeover of her, so pretty and nothing exaggerated. Oh, Alicia. You still have lessons to learn.
La Paloma

I amazed myself when i found myself watching FEA again. It's long and two hours a day is a big commitment. It surprised me how much fun it was again and a lot of it had to do with the comments on this blog. A lot of times during the first run and in most novelas a lot of the comments are snarky and designed to be clever while this time around we took the time to delve into the meat of the characters which i think is great fun. It also helped that FEA had some very well developed characters not the cardboard dummies that inhabit so many novelas.

Anyway today i thought i'd fallen into a parallel universe when Ariel was so nice to Fern but then he reverted to type during the junta of Tomy's stolen million.

Frankly I hate this part of Fea because we are getting, per usual, all the quick wrap ups of story lines and a few new ones tossed in to use up time. I'll be really interested in the comments in the next two days as everything comes to an end.

I'm in complete agreement that Erasmo's over protective attitude is responsible for Lety's endless waffling and her constant reverting to her baby voice. I almost fell off my chair when Erasmo said she was an adult. It wasn't that long ago when he couldn't even think of her getting married. He came further along than she ever has. Actually almost everyone who needed to has grown up except Lety.

Too bad the nasty gang hasn't had a chance to see new Lety. The looks on their faces would have been priceless and man would she ever have had her ultimate revenge on her tormentors.

Still say Lety doesn't deserve Fern or maybe he deserves much better than her. If you were him and she ended up with you wouldn't you always think you were her second choice?

Hi everyone, so sorry for the late post but my cable line was accidentally cut early this morning (by the gardener), I didn't get back online until this afternoon and just now am able to catch up on La Fea. In fact the first hour didn't record but I don't really feel like I missed anything because the recaps were so thorough. Luckily I was back online by the second half and got to see Luigi's revelation and Lety's transformation. The Pips were funny too.

Like some of you have noted, Lety's insistence on marrying Aldo and his charade of going forward is baffling. I say charade because his mouth says "OK let's do it" but his demeanor is oddly reluctant. I think this is his disengagement, correct? It's like he finally knows he is not the one for Lety but he is waiting for her to figure it out. Hurry up Lety! Only two days left!

Julie, your comment is wonderful. Kudos to you for doing LFMB again, especially knowing how you hate for things to end. However this second go-around must prove to you that if things are truly wonderful perhaps they live again. I am one of those newbies, not new to telenovelas as a whole but this is my first time watching LFMB. I'd like to thank those of you who have watched before for doing a great job of not posting spoilers. The enticements were fun and wonderful but never did you spoil. Thank you for that.

Wow, Sylvia, you're right! Everyone has been so careful to avoid spoilers, that I don't even think about them anymore! If memory serves, I think I zapped a grand total of three or four spoilers, and all of them were borderline. I know that was a much better record that the first run.

Just 2 quick thoughts about today's caps.
When I first saw Fern's sweater in Aca, I thought WTF? What is that? It seemed so off character. But then looking closely and also at the back, it looked like angel wings. The Angel Fernando doing the ultimate self-sacrifice. Talking some other guy into taking the love of HIS life away.

Secondly, I think Aldo is pushing for his wedding because he knows he is running out of time. I mean, once the debt is paid off, there will be no reason for Lety to be around Fern (Lety will leave Conceptos). So for the disengagement theory, Aldo has to get Lety to NOT marry him BEFORE the debt is paid.
Does that make any sense to anyone?

Again I thank everyone who has watched this show with me. You all have been amazingly fun.
Special thanks to Julie
And Extreme Thanks to Paula

Diann

So what's going to happen today on the show? If Lety persists in marrying Aldo and Aldo doesn't want to marry Lety, who's going to stop it? Lety is a bundle of mass confusion but that's to be expected considering her parents never treated her as an adult when she became one. I think Fernando will try one more time to get through to Lety. More power to him, but he deserves better. Fernando deserves a grown-up woman capable to fully loving him and not a half woman-child that doesn't know her own heart. When it comes to love, you sometimes have to take risks. Lety took a risk and got hurt so now she's playing the safe game. I put this out for ya'll to ponder - maybe Lety is pushing for the wedding with Aldo because deep inside of her she knows she can't continue to resist Fernando. If this is so, I believe it's unconsciously on Lety's part. She doesn't have a true grasp of what she feels and is confusing gratitude with love. Gratitude is fine but doesn't warm the sheets very well when it's time to make love.

In terms of her realtionship with Aldo, I think she is drawn to him because he is like her father in a way. He scolds her and instead of defending herself, she just takes the scolding.
Yes, Alexis, I agree with that... having grown up in similar (although not as drastic) environment with my (ACCOUNTANT of all careers) dad, I can identify with Lety and in her mind she clings to Aldo and takes his scolding because she believes in order for him to stay with her taking the scolding is the price she has to pay to have him 'love' her. She does not love herself enough or consider herself worthy enough so she sacrifices dignity for his 'love'.

Close-knit families certainly can foster self-esteem, but they can just as easily enable dependence.
exactly, Julie... there is a very fine line between parents being supportive and parents being 'protective' from exposing you to the cruelty and nastyness of the world outside... like Don Hermes used to say in BLF 'El diablo es puerco!' and his way of protecting Betty was to shelter her during her childhood years and trying to micromanage her life as an adult... same here with Lety. Erasmo goes a bit too far in the 'protecting' role so she does not get to build much self-esteem.

Regarding Aldo's 'disengaging' attitude, yes there have been some clues there, one of them at the end of the fight in Aldo's office sequence, Juana yells something at him and he says something back... i wont state it here to not spoil it for everyone... and his line last night 'the last word has not been said yet...' so what we see later has been hinted before...

Paula, i dont mean to blush you again but you have done an OUTSTANDING job along with Pata with her pictures and everyone else with their comments.
Regarding CS rerun and your possibly hosting a caray caray forum, dont forget that I am translating most of the important dialogues in the telenovela-world forum so you can take it directly from there instead of going through the effort on your own. I am going to post up to ep 40 today and that is half way through translating my dialogue files. I should be done with those by end of summer.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this last phase of the novela... yes some of it was ff-worthy but in my mind Jaime has shown how masterful he can be in this romantic comedy setting...
Regardin comparisons with JEA in Betty la fea, I have come to the final conclusion that although they are playing corresponding characters in two versions, they both have been masterful, JEA playing a more straight dramatic version with comedy as an almost accidental side effect, while Jaime has been wonderful with his more sensitive lighthearted Fernando.
Again, thank you everyone, this has been a wonderful experience so far.

Did you guys notice that Luigi was doing a silent cheerleader movement in the conference room after Ariel admitted Fernando was doing a good job and Humberto and Tere said they were totally behind Fernando? that was funny and I bet Sergio just came with that on his own.

So Luigi is not only turning around on how he sees Lety but also on how he sees Fernando.

that PIPs choreography with Fernando and Aldo was very funny.

Marty, you made some thought-provoking observations about close-knit families. Thank you, it's good stuff to think about and definitely applies to Lety's family.

Barbara, excellent point about gratitude versus love. For sure gratitude doesn't warm the sheets like love does. I'm thinking that Alicia might be going through a similar metamorphosis. She seems to be warming to Tomas, maybe because she has to, and I'm wondering is it gratitude or love?

I'm cutting Lety some slack for her immaturity. I know a lot of engineers and sometimes the brainiacs take a bit longer to mature socially, sometimes they never do, but that doesn't make them bad or unlovable. Last night's episode gave us a clue that her entire close family might be growing up. For Erasmo to admit that his little girl is a woman "hecho y derecho" was a big step for him.

Marta, wasn't Luigi's little dance a scream? I think a lot of the little extras are ad-libbed by the actors which explains why they are all trying to hide their laughs most of the time.

yes, like the last fall of the 'three amigos' coming out of the restaurant happened after Omar had one of his 'AAAYYYYYY!!!' screams which sent Jaime into laughter and he lost concentration and that is when they fell, since both Omar and Saimon were hanging to him from both sides.
