William Levy in Dancing with the Stars

He's pretty darn cute! Anybody else watching?

Yes! He's doing pretty well, although I don't think he's the BEST dancer there. So far. Step it up, sir! I like watching the practice session parts as much as the performance.

But as I've said elsewhere, the judges have GOT to reel in their slobbery reactions and critique his dancing more. They act like they're the worst patrons at a strip club and it's uncomfortable to watch. Especially when his son is in the audience.

I missed it last night because I was writing my recap but I saw him the first week and thought he was sexy in motion. I agree with Julia that everyone needs to get over the slobbering. HA!

(Reprinting part of an earlier comment)
Obviously some Levy followers in the studio audience, but most of the DWTS crew doesn't seem to understand why he has so many fans. Caraymates, we have some educational work to do.
So sweet to see his son in the audience last night!

oh yes, I'm watching. I miss seeing him nightly on a telenovela (except for TdA). after this exposure, I wonder if he'll ever do one again.

I agree with you, Julia - he is not the best dancer. somehow, it does not suit him. I think it's because he thinks it's not very masculine, hence he comes off a bit awkward. maybe he'll get better. he cracks me up didn't want to wear the shoes, some outfits, and the fake tan.

I caught a little bit at the end of last night's show. I am no dance critic, but while he seemed quite competent enough, I can believe that there's room for improvement.

Like I said, I didn't see much. But when one of the judges was telling Levy he was wearing too much clothing, or something like that, I wondered if people would think it would be okay to make a similar comment to a woman. It seemed extremely inappropriate coming from a judge. Most judges do NOT want to give the slightest suggestion that they might judge contestants on their looks rather than the quality of their work.

Actually, even in a beauty contest - can you imagine how people would react if a beauty pageant judge said something like that??

It's completely rude and inappropriate. It isn't like he was presenting himself as the freshest beef in the meat market. He was fully dressed and, although he doesn't seem to be a real natural at dancing, he was working very hard at it and seems serious about competing. And all they do is scream that he should strip and sort of mention his dancing in passing. So awkward.

I swim in the shallow end of the pool myself, and I do find him attractive (though I save my DWTS slobbering for Tristan, heh). However, I think the judges should let his attributes speak for themselves and they should just discuss his dance performance.

I hear he has salsa next week. I love salsa! That should be more fun.

I have been following DWTS to see how Levy does. No, he's not the best but he seems to be one of the most popular, even excluding the slobbering. I read a review of the first DWTS and the stupid reviewer called Levy an unknown who said "you might know me from 3 or 4 TV programs", then the reviewer said "well I don't so let's move on". Talk about putting your ignorance in print, sheesh!!

William, practice practice practice and make us proud!!

I read an article, too, where the writer was outlining the new contestants and wrote him off as a random unknown who was in a JLo video. Way to blow off a big segment of the U.S. population as not "counting," ignorant writer. How hard is it to Google and find out he's starred in multiple television series?

I mean, to me all the football players and Disney kids are total strangers, but I will still acknowledge that they are famous to a lot of other people.

Yes, I'm watching DWTS and voting for William by phone with up to 5 votes, I believe. I forgot to last night though. If I'd vote online, I could vote for him 50 times. So as you can see, this is a popularity contest not a talent contest. In the past the best dancers haven't always won. Poor Gilles (the best who lost.)

Wm seems like a very nice person in his interviews. And he seems well coordinated. I think his dancing is hampered by his muscles he's developed for the galan roles and with more practice and exercise, he may lose the bulk and some weight and move more freely. He won't bounce then. Here's hoping he becomes an international star but doesn't leave the tns behind.

I'm lurking until E Y, Fernando or Rulli are back on, though, I'm now a Jorge Salinas fan. Thanks to all the great recappers of the current novelas. What talented clever writers they are!

Okay, I watched the dances again tonight and it looks like he's hesitating and holding back a bit. I think he'd do a lot better if he had confidence in knowing the steps and holding the postures so he could go all out and put more oomph into the movements.

Oh, yes. I am watching DWTS. I have always loved to dance , and I always look forward to a new season of this show. [My favorite season was the one in which Jennifer Grey won because I love Dirty Dancing. I agree that Giles was robbed...likewise Mario .] As for William, I agree with all your comments. He looks like a sweet guy who is trying his best and feeling a little uncomfortable and unsure. I, too, find it funny that everyone seems amazed at the audience reaction. I feel like I'm in on an inside joke. These folks have no idea about the star power of these telenovela galans. I also thought that Bruno's remarks were very embarassing and inappropriate, but for those of you who have watched DWTS before, Bruno makes lots of weird and inappropriate remarks. William's partner Cheryl Burke has won at least two times in the past. She is a good teacher and knows potential when she sees it. I am also keeping my eye on the guy who played Erkel on Family Matters. A friend's son went to basketball camp with him at Duke Univ. and said he was a great guy. I'm rooting for William, but I love Sherry and Gladys Knight. Go , Gladys ! Make your Pips proud !

I got a call from a friend after William's first round and she said "Who is this William Levy? Is he one of those telenovela actors you talk about"? Yep. Sure changed her opinion about my watching tns. Lots of eye candy. Willy is a big, muscular, athletic guy and is a little stiff. He has a great partner and maybe once he relaxes, he'll look a little less awkward. Only watching his segments as it conflicts with my telenovela watching and I don't like the silly banter between the judges. The comments are brainless. One would think they would do a little research as to why Willy is so popular with the women in the audience. Duh! We'll see how far he goes.

I have never watched DWTS, although I like ballroom dancing. But of course, I see the entertainment news and usually get a feel for who's on the show and who has won. I cannot believe what I am reading from you all about how ignorant the judges and mainstream media are about who William is, and the disrespectful comments of the judges. Viewers should send them messages complaining, if that's possible.

This strikes me all the more because I've been to so many work related meetings lately about the changing demographics of the U.S. The Hispanic population is not just big (and growing fast), but is about to surpass whites in this country. Theses folks really need to get past the old stereotypes of Latinos being sexy, strange talking accessories (e.g. Charro), and realize that they are a MAJOR factor in the success of programming and products. They need to educate themselves.

Hey, even Joel McHale has had William on the Soup! He knows the power of telenovelas.

Good luck to William (and to Jaleel White).

I think William is doing a great job ... not as good as Katherine Jenkins or Jaleel White, but a very respectable performance. The quickstep is not an easy dance and one that you would learn way downstream in the progression of learning ballroom dance. The DWTS band does slow the tempo of the quickstep down so much that it makes the dance easier but also pretty boring.

This DWTS gig is working out great for William. He's a household name now. I've never watched him in a TN, but I've heard about him for a long time. I have a Cuban friend at work and her 77-year-old mother absolutely adores him.

It's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago Giuliana Rancic called him a "manslut" on Fashion Police, referring to the J-Lo video. Really, he was just a good-looking male model in a video, not a "manslut."

I would like to see him become very famous and snub her one day for her uncalled-for comment.

Yes, I have been watching DWTS. William has been holding his own and doing a great job dancing. Loved seeing Elizabeth and Christopher in the audience watching William and Cheryl on the dance floor. (Chris is so adorable.) I loved watching ET on Tuesday - they asked William about his son and he said he disappears whenever his son is there. I could tell he loves his son very much.

Preview reports and recaps are shown on Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

ABC has an app in iTunes so you can view full episodes on your iPhone and iPad.

I've been watching, too. It's my big guilty pleasure. And I definitely agree that Gils was the best ever, and I still miss him!

I think William Levy is doing really quite well, and I do expect him to improve.
