Refugio Para el Amor #142 Fri 10/26/12... Of time jumps, CUTE SWEET grown up kids, little girl and college age girl shipped away to school, did I say CUTE SWEET grown up kids? and 'where in the world is Pedro Campos'?

Refrito:

Rodrigo hugging Hanah, talking about how their parents now seem to be total strangers with very rotten sense of values.
Pato says 'our strength is in remaining together, loving each other, and our parents are our challenge, our dare. They are our biggest test of love.'

Luci tells Claudio about her meeting with little Mateo and how she felt to hold him and kiss him.  Claudio says it is strange, especially since their meeting was more emotional rather than rational. Luci says what if that were my son? They said he was 4 mos old but he looked smaller (she freaks out repeating what he it were my son?) Claudio reassures her they will never stop looking for him.

At Chelo’s place, Chelo reads Luci’s business card and then puts it away in a drawer. Then remembers Luci telling him she wanted to help them, no questions asked.

Lo Nuevo:

Hanah in her room laying crying, Max comes in… visibly moved/repentant. He tells her  she is grown up but there might still be things she does not understand about him, your mother and I have not been intimate for many years, no words of love, no physical intimacy… he has a need to be held, to be kissed…even for a little while… THAT is what keeps the world moving… to feel loved… I married your mother loving her, and look at us now. As if we were enemies. I hope you could forget/erase at least some of what happened today, and retain only the good things you have lived with your dad. Because your dad could come and go, he could be here and not be… but you will always be the most prized jewel, the most beloved woman of his life.(she is crying more while listening)
She won’t even turn to face him so he leaves quietly, visibly upset.

At Het Het, Teo is whining to Don Aq about his broken promises ‘if you scare Procopio I will give you his job at the funeral home’. Don Aq says Don Serapio wants Procopio to stay at funeral home and I can’t do anything about that.  … Don Aq says why don’t you try moving to another town and scare someone there… Teo whines some more… which finally irritates Don Aq into just leaving…

At Curvas Continuas, Vio, Selene and Delia receive an unsolicited visit, Gala. Gala asks about Luci, she left. Since I am here why don’t you wash my car… Vio makes a whole ceremony for it putting the soap in the bucket(I would have put in some other things as well, like crushed poison ivy, some sulfuric acid, paint thinner, itchy powder, rubbing alcohol and rubbing compound for starters), stirring with her hand and then splashing Gala with the entire bucket full. Gala is drenched, either Selene or Delia calls Julie ‘espaguetti mexicano’ when she comes over to protest… Gala threatens Vio some and then she and Julie leave in a huff…

Pato calls Luci to let her know they will fly to Het Het tomorrow. He can tell she is a bit sad so she also tells him the story of her meeting with Mateo. He does not seem to get the same vibe as Claudio, more like brushes it off saying a few days at SFeA will do her a lot of good… She asks him how he is… he sadly tells her ‘I am ok’. (not! Not after the new dinner party gone haywire.)

Janah calls Lorenzo while in her room with Mati and we get another sweet convo over the phone. She is sad and needed to talk to him. He even offers to come see her even if he has to risk being caught by her mom… they agree to meet tomorrow… Lorenzo does not let her hang up. He confesses to her, with sweet difficulty, that he loves her… Janah has not noticed her wicked mother has made it in the room… She tells Lorenzo ‘I do love you too’. Both of them hang up not able to contain the joy… Janah turns to Mati yelling that Lorenzo loves her… YIKES!!!
Predictably, RE is beserk with anger… Janah cannot dare even turn around to look her in the eye… you are seeing the ‘taquero de barrio’. And if I could separate your brother from his sister, I will DEFINITELY separate you from him! I warned you! I warned you!. (with that she leaves Janah to find some consolation in Mati’s open arms).

Gala arrived home and threw her purse/bag at Frigida telling her to empty the bag and throw it out… We now see Frigida emptying the bag and guess what she found?? … wait for it… wait for it… Baby Rod’s hospital bracelet name tag!! Frigida says ‘I smell something bad/rotten’ (literally! And I bet it was not exactly the actual bracelet tag)

Melissa confesses to Connie that she is in love with Claudio… Connie not too happy to hear it since Claudio  is old enough to be Melissa’s dad. Melissa tells her she also told Luci and Luci said the same thing Connie did.  Connie asks Melissa what is it you are after? Melissa seems to imply that she wants someone to tell Claudio that she is in love with him. Connie says Claudio is a great man, but he just recovered his daughter and part of his fortune, so it would probably not be in his plans to find a young woman to marry, so forget any hopes of seeing your feelings corresponded. Give yourself time. You just became a lawyer… you cannot force love. Both sides have to be on same wavelength. And this is not your case.

Ofelia and Estelita tell Marianita that they can afford better education for her so they want to ship her to Puebla to a boarding school. (YIKES!!) It takes some convincing but they are able to convince Marianita that they will see her often enough, not all kids have this opportunity, and that it will be great for her future… (hmmmm!!... didn’t Marianita live years without her mother and now they want to separate them again??)

RE makes calls from kitchen to arrange that Janah gets shipped to Florence Italy for her college education (5 yrs straight without coming home). Mati is beside herself… RE claims this is the only way to separate Janah from Lorenzo and retain her ‘chastity/purity’.  RE even calls Boris and asks him if he is willing to follow Janah to Italy to be with her these 5 yrs.  Mati asks won’t you even ask Max? RE says nope, it is my call.

At Nicole’s salon, Vicky has finally returned to work to get over her grief… Nicole is congratulating her on a good business day… but in comes RE the witch to ruin the day… RE gives Vicky a speech as if RE were an undertaker showing her all her sins… Better stay away from Max, because otherwise I swear I will help you meet your dad sooner rather than later… Don’t worry about your dad, he is happy now, rather than suffering in this valley of tears… Just as RE leaves, Max calls Vicky on cell phone to warn her that RE discovered their affair. Vicky yells at him that RE was just there to threaten her and not to call her anymore, that IT IS OVER!!!

Patricio and Luci have arrived at Het Het and they are taking a tour of the shop at Magda’s old house… everyone is really happy. Namurachi thanks them again for the resources… Luci says what is important is that they are getting their biggest goal, to get help for their local women and get them working…

RE tells Janah about her plans to ship her to Italy when they are already on the way to the airport. She tells Janah that she is going to Florence Italy, and that it is to separate her from Lorenzo. You should have thought it better before you dared me. Janah tries to beg and whine her way out of it, to no avail. Five years!! (Mati has called Lorenzo to tell him… He is frozen upset, buckles his knees and sits on curb, almost having difficulty to absorb/process the news he just heard…Later Lorenzo arrives at the private airport but is too late, he can only watch the plane she is on taking off on the runway.. he can only repeat Janah … Janita… crying quietly..

(oh no… here we go… 5 years later…)
Chelo is finishing preparing the meal for Mateo… then he sings loudly to try to get Mateo to wake up and get up to eat… Mateo is so cute!! Luci’s face with black straight hair, but wit h a boy haircut. He is turning 5 years old today. Chelo has made him a small (tiny tiny) cake shaped like a 5 with a single candle…and Chelo sings the mananitas to Mateo.

We see Luci drawing a sketch of what she believes her baby would be like… from looking at the newborn baby picture… she painfully whispers ‘5 yrs, it has been 5 yrs’.  She gets a call from Claudio to meet later, seems she has been able to survive drowning herself in work and her charity…

We see Mateo selling newspapers out in the rain at a busy intersection on the street when guess who drives to him… none other than Daddy Rodrigo himself!... they have a great joyful conversation… funny Mateo tells Rod that the paper is cheaper when there are bad news and more expensive when there are good news… they tell each other their names… Rod offers Mateo some gum, Mateo choses the berry one. Then they swap the money for the paper… SOOOO CUTE this Mateo is… SOOOO like Luci in the face… Chelo has been across the street selling papers to the opposite traffic and has been watching the interaction between Mateo and Rodrigo with a questioning / curious face.
(I have to say I did not like a 5 yr old boy in such a dangerous spot, selling papers at an intersection… but the face on this kid, and his interaction with his ‘don’t know it but you’re my’ dad was priceless!! And dad looks SEXY in his dorky black framed glasses)

At TL offices, Claudio is doing business as usual with Norma, Barrera has been in Argentina after the trail of Pedro Campos… Claudio is a bit flustered they have been trying to find PC for 5 yrs but not able to.

At Italy, Janah is more mature looking, with wavy hair… packing to return home.

At TL offices, there is a meeting where they spent more money than Max expected (almost 10 % over) on a hydraulic system to reprocess ‘black’ waters… Everyone else, including Claudio is for the tradeoff of doing ‘the right thing for the environment’ in exchange for the 2% reduction in profits… Even one of Rod’s friends reminds them that they also have a commitment/duty as a company to the environment, which overall is beneficial to the company since it has got a ‘environmentally responsible’ rating with the government. Max is still miffed, THIS IS A BUSINESS so we have to find a way to meet the goal for the environment without sacrificing the BUSINESS… Claudio just smiles…

At TL manor, RE is more anxious than ever with the arrival of Janah, even tells Mati to throw away a tomato that to me looked perfectly red and shiny…

Lorenzo and Fabi are doing well with a business they called ‘la canasta de Lorenzo… deliciosos tacos’… Lorenzo is on the street in the business van talking to Fabi checking on how things are going in the kitchen… He sees a plane fly by above and seems to smile, maybe he knows Janah is due to come back home anytime…

But in Italy, we learn that Boris and Janah are engaged, at least from what Boris says and Janah does not challenge… But she is definitely not very excited about the engagement… probably a forced engagement, maybe even RE told her either you get engaged or you don’t come back home (that was a guess on my part, not on the episode).

At Het Het Paz and Magda wonder if baby Rod would already be in Kinder at school somewhere since he is already 5 yrs old..

As if on cue, on the streets sitting at a park bench, little Mateo/Rod is asking Chelo why he is not in school. Chelo promises him he will home-school him to read, write and count, then later on will register him in school.

At the sky suite furthest from heaven, little Alexia looks very pretty, but has a very screechy voice… just arrived from school with the nurse. Frigida is there… Gala comes but is very distant from Alexia, is not even interested in seeing her school work, instead rudely sends her to her room with the nurse. Frigida is observing all this quietly. Gala asks Frigida if Rod called… Frigida very sarcastically says no ma’am, he has not called. (seems this is the usual routine of every day for Gala, who looks more un-happy than ever). Gala calls Rod at office, he is at a meeting with Claudio and the boys on a new project… Gala puts Rod on phone with Alexia… he asks her how school went… he can’t come home right now but will be happy if she tells him the story when he gets home tonight. Alexia hangs up with Rod and runs back to her room without saying a word to her mother. (sad to watch this as a mother that i am).  Rod gets sad and tells the other men in the office that today would be his son Rod’s 5th bday.

Luciana is at an orphanage, speaking with the one who looks like a mother superior, about it having been 5 years and no word about her son yet. The MS is trying to prepare Luciana for the disappointment, the more time passes, the more difficult it will be to find your son… Luci says all she hopes is that whoever has her son is treating him right…

At that very moment we see Mateo and Chelo eating at a diner, talking… when Chuy and others come with a birthday cake surprise for Mateo… ‘this is the best birthday of all my life!!’

Previews:
VO: Time passes… time does not forgive but does not forget either…
we see flashes of Luci and Rod about to kiss, then Luci and Pato talking, then it seems Mateo and Alexia end up at same school, shake hands, then Luci meeting Alexia

To infierno with these writers! Not the Caray writers. You guys are awesome. But 5 years! Come on. Couldn't they figure out something without making everyone suffer for 5 years? And why would Jana stay with her mother in Italy? Couldn't she have just said, "Look mom. I think I'm going to be 18 soon and then I'm outta here"? Pretty sure she turned 18 about, oh, 5 years ago. I hope she tells Boris to kiss off as soon as they land back in Mexico.

Luckily we're in ultimas semanas or little Alexia would end up really screwed up with a "mother" like that.

I'm annoyed. At least Lorenzo is doing well.

Marta, thanks for the great recap.

I really didn't care for that little cutie Mateo standing out in the rain on a busy street corner. Couldn't they find something else for him to do?

The highlight was Vio giving Gagme a free wash! Too bad Julie didn't get one too.

I couldn't believe that pobre Padre was still listening to RE's drivel.

The Fridg sure has Gagme's number and she seems fond of Alexis. So maybe there is hope for a little redemption for her in the end.

Well this 5 years was better than the prior version when Jana got leukemia (always a TN favorite) and almost died and little Mateo was also out actually stealing for his caretaker. This little guy looks like he is happy and well taken care of while his counterpart was a sad little guy until he also met up with dad. He wasn't selling papers but threw a rock through the car window. He was well on his way to becoming a delinquent which little LRod/Mateo isn't.

Jana sure did not look happy with bossy Boris. Oddly enough everyone else seemed to have changed a bit physically while Boris still looked like a boring little twit. It certainly looks like almost everyone has had five years of misery. On the other hand Lor and Fab seem to have made a success out of their business, Ofelia is doing well and has enough money to send her child to a good school. Oscar looked happy and even Frigida who has the big secret looks a tad less forbidding when dealing with poor little Alexia.

I hate time leaps but in this case it makes sense otherwise the story would stall with not much of any real impact going on. Those advances sure threw a bunch of stuff on the wall.

I was stunned to see the final chapters notice. With more that 20 chapters to go that seemed awfully soon to me.

Wonderful job Marta. Gracias!

Oh man! They jumped us forward FIVE years!

Well, that was enough time to turn Hannah bitter. Her pinched facial expression made her look JUST like Rosa. Hopefully, seeing Lorenzo again will melt the icy exterior and get her back to her old self. Hannah was planning to go to Italy for architecture anyway, so this isn't totally different than what she had planned. Except it seems like she wasn't allowed to come home at all during that time. And she was stuck with Boris as her constant shadow. Lonliness makes people do stupid things-- like get engaged to a toe rag like Boris.

Little Mateo's face is heart shaped just like Luci's with the same big eyes. Poor Luci! All these years. Yes, she does seem to spend all her time committed to work and charitable activities.

The Het Het ladies were also celebrating Ariche graduating from primary school-- he's now a 12 year old. I will miss the cute little 7 year old actor. And poor Marianita gets shipped off to boarding school, for a top notch education. I went to boarding school too, but that was for high school. I can't imagine going away at age 9 or so! She hadn't ever been away from Ofelia that long. Ofelia was only in the States some months, and even that was really hard on Marianita. I guess it doesn't matter since we also won't be seeing that child actor again. Now we have cute 5 year olds Mateo and Alexia.

Loved Vio throwing that bucket of soapy water on Gala and laughing with the other girls in face. LOL! Loved the girls calling skinny Julie spagetti. Ha!

Glad to see Lorenzo's business taking off in a major way.

I'm disappointed that Frigida hung on to that evidence all these years after finding the bracelet. Boo!!

Rosa had a new look. Like a prison ward matron. She has completely stopped caring about looking like an attractive woman. She's even more sexless than before. She and Max are probably sleeping in separate bedrooms by this point.

And yes, her OC behavior seems to have gotten worse-- looking at a perfect tomato and seeing something rotting. She must have caught a glimpse of her soul...

Thanks for the detailed recap Martai, and for getting SUCH an epi up so quickly. I really needed the group tonite. The episode has made me sad for the following reasons:

the first 5 years in the life of a child lay down the blueprint for so much of his identity and trust and our little Mateo hasn't bonded with his mother (or bio-father) so bringing them into his life won't be an easy thing for him. There's got to be the tragedy of separation in store for somebody in that little family constellation. Y'all know what I mean, I'm sure.

Then my disappointment with Rod and Max is enormous. Max once again let Rosa have her way with Jana, and in doing so he betrayed her well being. Then Rod has settled into a 5 year loveless marriage with Gala. Just unbelievable!

I mean, it's better than leukemia or a high body count but 5 years is a long time in the life of Luci and her little boy and in Jana's life.

Sorry haven't read the recap but was just totally stunned that after investing in watching this TN for this long we get a FIVE year jump. I guess there is just no pleasing me but this sucks. Hells bells, why not 10 or 20? Lets really make Luci suffer. Sorry writers but I believe you blew this one. This TN was a 9 but now it is back to maybe a 6.5. It is inconceivable to me that any man on the planet would have made it 5+ years with Gala without a balding head, stooped shoulders, and an irresistible urge to jump from the nearest high rise.

Marta- thanks for this great recap. Loved Vio and crew and Vio throwing that soapy water all over Gagme, too funny. The best part of the epi. I guess Gagme thought Luci would wash her car, what a bitch, jus' sayin'. Glad Frigid found that braclet but mad she hasn't done anything with this for FIVE YEARS already!

Hated Hanna being seperated from Lorenzo. Glad Lorenzo and crew are doing so well. Sad Hanna had to put up with boring Boris for five years already. Now he wants to set a date for the wedding and you can tell Hanna is so NOT into it.

Rosa does look like a matron of a prison. I agree with you Vivi. I guess this is her new persona. She isn't that old, and this clothing makes her look way older than she is, while Max still looks the same, interesting.

Glad Melissa told her Mama about Claudio and her mama is right. Now is not the time for that, Melissa needs to get out and experience the world a bit.

Love Alexia and Mateo and Mateo does look alot like Luci. I liked the rapport between Mateo and his daddy Rod, they sure connected.I also didn't like the fact that Mateo was selling papers in the rain in such a bad spot. Don Chelo sure keeps a good eye on him. Gagme hasn't changed, except the hair, the shorty, short dress and she won't touch her daughter at all. Can't stand that and poor Alexia.

It sure has been tough on Luci all the suffering and five years of it. I too think she threw herself into her charities and work to try to keep herself busy. Like how she has been helping Mother Superior Josephina with the children at the orphanage.

Now I want that Supersized Pie Cart to be hitting the three bitches it is way past time already for that.

it is a classic case of 'when life gives you lemmons, make lemonade'...
all the Het Het folks, plus Ofelia, Selene, Estelita, et al, have made the best from their resources... alright, Luci is still very sad about not finding her son, but she has spent her time doing good for others... and Claudio has followed Luci's lead.

yet all the folks from the city are sowing what they planted... including, sadly, Rod himself... the only exceptions to this are Janah, Pato, Oscar and Connie.

Thanks for this. I was out last night and just caught up with the episode.

This is appalling. The idea that five years have gone by and nobody has found that child is beyond the pale. Why no media coverage? Why was no reward offered? Had Don Chelo seen that and turned in baby Roddy he could have been put in rehab and be working at something with a steady income by now. Maybe working for Claudio.

As for Rod still being married to Gagme, I suspect he may not have adequate grounds for a child custody fight. He's living his father's life at this point.

As for Frigida, why did she say nothing when she found the hospital bracelet? She will pay for that.

Roselena does look like a prison matron. Her obsession with sex being sinful is seriously ill. It sounds like she wants to condemn all her children to her own kind of life.

Oh boy, SUPERMARTA...what a painful episode! but you did it with your usual care and detail. Thank you.

I am with CAROL, I'm just appalled that the writers have chosen to keep this child away from his true mother for five years. I know it's just a story, but it's still ripping my heart out. I can't bear the thought.

That said, the hairdressers and make-up artists have done a good job of showing changes. I like Luciana's new hair style, and they've used eye shadow to give her a haunted look. Gala's hair style has changed to a blonde version of Luciana's old hair style (trying to win Rod's love?), and she looks even thinner. And haggard.

Roselena...yes, very Ida Lupino (actress in the 40's) prison warden. And she's a prisoner of her own sick mind.

Jana definitely looked older with the sophisticated make-up. And although I found her old look much better, the make-up artists effectively showed a change.

Fabio looked great...quite the handsome dude once they got rid of his cowboy hat.

The little guy picked to play Luciana's son is quite a match for her. Well done, but so sad. Tho' the change in don Chelo is good to see, the sacrifice of a baby taken from his mother is too great a sacrifice! Way too great!

I blush to admit I went to bed last night troubled at heart. Over a friggin' story!

Oh well, support group at my house this morning. Coffee and homemade applesauce with cinnamon and nutmeg. C'mon down.

I guess 5 years is not long enough for the ravages of time to take their toll. Most of the adult characters seemed to look exactly the same except that Rodrigo got glasses and grew a beard, Rosalena went for a new severe Luke, Luciana's hair got longer, Gala's got straighter, Hana's got wavier and Brigida trimmed her bangs half an inch.

PEPE...I thought Brigida's face looked a little...a little!... softer and kinder now that she's caring, in part, for Alexis. But maybe it's just that she cut her bangs a little, as you noted.

Martha thanks for your recap. Wow, this is the saddest episode ever. it's true. I regarded this novela highly but this anticlimax is really depressing. How can anyone be so cruel and deprive luciana of her bonding with her son. Those five important formative years. Now Mateo is fully attached to his only known parents and would be another heart rending situation when he gets discovered. And oh, Frigid, I thought because of her crush on Rodrigo, would finally be redeemed and tell him of the id bracelet. 5 cruel years.

Yes, the 5 year jump by the monkey writers is absurd on so many levels not the least of which is Luciana's failure to go back out and look for the wino pushing a boxcart with a four month old baby that looked two months old to her. The call of the blood was not strong enough for these "writers" so they just jumped ahead five years. Lame, lame, lame! Glad that we are in the final stretch.

Judy

I had to laugh because I too was upset when i went to bed over a silly story. Hey it's distracting me from the elections so it can't be all bad. It is actually a tribute to how good the story is that we can feel an emotion connection to it and the characters. Terrible to have kept Mateo from his mother but he has had the love and care of the Boxcar Duo while little Alexia has it from her dad and perhaps even Frigida.

It is obvious that Mateo will soon cross paths with Luci and build a rapport with her before the truth comes out. Luci has a generous heart and i can not see her cutting the C's out of her sons life. They will simply graduate to become additional grandparents or tio/tia to him.

The trouble with such an abrupt leap forward is that we lose track of what happened to most of the characters. Did Vicki get out of the country to get away from Rosa's threats, what happened to Aldo - did he finally grow up and actually start working. Did Melissa outgrow her crush or is she still carrying a five year torch like Lor, Luci, Pato, and Rod. Is Julie still alive and keeping her daughter locked in a money filled, loveless marriage. How much improvement has Pato made in the last 5 years. Is Max still yoked to the ice queen? Many times when a long span of time passes we get quick vignettes that show us what happened but here it was just like Rip Van Winkle waking after a long sleep.

Shame on Frigidia, I guess she hadn't progressed as much as we had hoped.

Rosa really looks old and cold. I guess with Jana on her way home we are due for another tedious TL meal.

ANGRY---I am so ANGRY!!!!

I once heard a sermon titled "It's not fair." The jest of it was that life is not fair---but no one ever said that it would be, and often times it isn't. Last night was one such example, a five year jump. I was hoping that the writers wouldn't go there, but they did. GGGRRRRRR##@%%**&^@!! Poor Luci missed the first early years of her son's growth and development. She has been dying on the inside all this long time while trying to appear pleasant and happy on the outside, her usual self. I know that life is extremely hard for her at this point. The only consulation of this evil, is that Luci's character will only get stronger and develop more fully because of this terrible suitation that she has been forced to endure.

And speaking of evil---I hope that Frigida goes to jail for withholding evidence in a criminal investigation. She can finish writing her book from a jail cell--BRUJA!!!

Mexican police---What kind of police department do they have down there? Why wasn't the missing janitor tracked down for further questioning? Why wasn't the elegant looking pregnant woman {Gala} put under intense questioning? And why were there no fliers posted by anyone? Oversight? Come on!

Well, we have all weekend to calm down and get our blood pressure under control. One good thing for monday is that brother and sister will meet for the first time.

I have vented my anger from last night so now I will read the recap and come back for round two.
the gringo

Upset too.
I sensed a collective groan at the "5 anos despues."
Very sad when Mateo was asking Chelo why he can't go to school and be with other kids. Not to mention what his life is like compared to how it would have been with Luci and Luci's love, materially and emotionally. Sad too when it looked as tho the employees of the fast-food joint were the ones to come out and sing Mananitas on his bday [tho they were nice].
I think we have to assume that major investigative work is being done, but we just don't see it ???
Anxious to see how everyone else fared with the fast forward. Noticed Oscar didn't seem to be wearing a wedding ring. What strides has Pato made in his rehab?
Okay, extra reliance on you excellent recappers in case of extended power outage. Hopefully not before Mon. at 7. Gracias, Marta!
Clara

Thanks for the recap, Marta. In spite of the aggravation I felt when I saw when it said after 5 years, I enjoyed reading your recap.
I noticed Mateo was wearing the medal at his BD party.

Ya know what I miss about this TN the most, the romance. In the beginning there was so much of it between Rod and Luci, they had a true love. Now it is five years later, and it looks like they barely speak anymore. You would think, once Alexia was out of the bebe stage, Rod would have divorced Gagme already and start to woo Luci again. No such thing. Meanwhile Pato is still mooning over Luci, what has happened with Oscar and Conny, we already know what is going on with Max and Rosa, same old, same old, and now Hanna may be stuck in a loveless marriage by her loca mama, cause we all know la loca will be pushing Hanna to marry boring Boris. I just want some kind of reconnection with Luci and Rod. Do they still have the spark? I am curious to know. I also want Luci and Rod to find out Mateo is really lil Roddy. It is way past time for that. And Frigid, what the hey is she waiting for already???? She should have turned Gagme into Rod a long time ago. Sorry about the rant, but I feel so much better now.

Judy- I like your support meeting with homemade apple sauce with cinnamon and nutmeg, yum. I am making tea and crumpets and will be bringing them to the next support meeting. :)

Tea and crumpets! Divine! I'll have mine with a little unsalted butter and honey, please.

Mads and Judy- I'll be right over for breakfast! I saw Wicked last night in Baltimore, and now I think Rosa, Gala, and Julie are giving witches a bad name...

SuperMarta--Gracias for taking us through this time-warp (emphasis on the warp). I'm with everybody on this one. OTOH, interesting that we were handed the jump in mid-episode. We probably would have been blown off CarayCaray if they had ended an episode in the present and begun the next one 5 years later.

Decie Girl--I'm sure they will catch us up to the goings on with the rest of the characters. They needed us to see the main ones. But I want to know everything about everybody else, too, especially the Claudio-Melissa storyline.

I thought Gala's skirts couldn't get any shorter until I saw this yellow number with not much left to the imagination--cut pretty close to the crotch. After seeing how she treated Alexia, I don't blame Rod entirely for staying with Gala. That's his daughter, the light of his life. We know Gala's the type to throw anyone under the bus in order to get (or keep) what she wants. She's probably been using Alexia to keep Rod in line.

Next to Luci, Gala is the saddest character after five years. Luci has gotten busy doing good deeds and seeing the rewards of her efforts. What does Gala have? Nothing. She seems miserable. Why is she doing this to herself. She could have divorced Rod a long time ago and gotten a whopping big settlement out of it--enough to keep Juli in NY forever. That alone would have been a big step for her.

I noticed that we are no longer in ultimas semanas, but now in ultimos capitulos. So they'd better hurry up and resolve all the hanging chads in this story or we're going to court!!! OTOH, maybe not, we know how that turned out.

JudyB--I have homemade fig jam I can bring. It's worth substituting the honey on one of Mads crumpets.

Checking in late after a bout of stomach flu had me out of circulation for a couple days. After catching up with the episode and this great recap, my stomach is not feeling so great again.

Add me to the "hate the time jump" factor. Did it have to be five years?? The most formative years of a child's life? Little Mateo may feel loved, but living a life selling papers on the streets, I just had to FF thru that.

Rod deciding to stay hooked to GTM, mind-numbing though I'm sure he does it for Alexia.Since GTM has never overtly done anything to be called a bad mother, he would not get full custody at this point...but early on he would have had more ammunition to at least try. And Frigida. Hope she gets nailed as well. Unforgivable she never said anything.

And Janna...cripes. Talk about getting kicked to the curb. Not only sent away from her brothers and friends, but being forced to have that dweeb along for the ride. Unspeakable.

Boy, I hope there is some positive happenings soon.

I think Hanna will pull a Rodrigo and not sign on the dotted line if she is forced to 'marry' Boris. She will end up with Lorenzo. I assume that her relationship with Boris in Florence was a chaste one as Rosalena would have demanded of Boris.
As for finding out what happened to our cast of characters in the missing five years, don't expect a lot from these writers. They are seriously challenged as story tellers.

Round two.
Thanks SuperMarta---I think when Luciana was blindsided and attacked by the three brujas along with this one, the five year jump, were two of the most saddest and painful episodes. If it were me, I think that I would have been to angry to write but you got through it. You are living up to the title that has been given you---SuperMarta.

YEAH Violeta!!! Gagme is a mean spirited, tough woman, but has met her match---she had better not mess with Vi. Vi has part of Magda's fighting nature in her and will not back down. Gagme needed to get cleaned up and Violeta was the perfect one to assist her. In the U.S., Violeta or her business would probably have a lawsuit filed against them for that---assault, damaged clothes maybe a damaged watch etc., but I guess that in Mexico, the laws are not as strict---anyway, GO VIOLETA!!!

The only other bit of joy or happiness last night, was the part where they showed Luci and Pato working with the ladies of Het Het with the potery business. Lucy and Pato always want to help others. I don't see that in Rod, and Gagme??? she only thinks about herself or when will her next shopping trip take place. I loath her character. I would like to see Violeta give it to her again---she certainly has earned wiewerville's scorn.
the gringo

and if we think we are appaled by the first few years of Mateo/LilRod and Alexia, i shiver at thinking of what the first 10 yrs of Gala's life must have been like for her not to have much of a heart or 'respect for others'.
Can you imagine? i would say Julie either handed her to 'nurses' like Gala has done, or shipped her to a boarding school as soon as she could so she cound continue on with her 'social life standard'.

Marta- Julie and Gala did have a conversation some time back about that. Yes, Gala spent most of her youth in boarding schools and Julie was not around to do any mothering or nurturing. I'm sure Julie didn't go visit Gala every weekend as Ofelia is doing. Gala's just repeating the pattern she learned.

This 5 year jump reminds me of "Desperate Housewives". Only difference is this TN is about to end and we had to endure 2-3 seasons on DH before it ended.

Looks to me like little Mateo & Alexia have both been nutured & cared for neglectful Mama for Alexia not withstanding. Even Fridga has taken a liking to Alexia. It will be interesting to see if Chuy & Chalo have told little Mateo the truth. Right now it seems like they havent and they are the only parents he knows.

2nd round of Gagme vs Vio goes to: VIO!!! She's up 2-0. You go girl!!!! I still would love to see a cat fight between those two ala "Dynasty".

I bet this week we see if Conny & Oscar are still an item. I'm betting yes.

Well Rosa hasn't changed at all. Surprise Surprise. I too think Janna will balk at signing on that dotted line and tell her mama where she can stick it.

For those living on the East Coast: stay safe during this storm. Lots of prayers heading your way :)

Have been thinking of Bossy Boring Boris planning a wedding With a most reluctant bride. I can't see it happeninw either. While as far as we know Max did nothing when Rosa hustled his princessa off to Italia he may step up and not allow the bitch to force yet another one of his much loved children into a loveless marriage. I'd frankly love to see him advise jana, who is now an adult to elope if need be. Max should start to put his well developed sneakiness into helping his children avoid the fate he has been enduirng for more that 30 years.

STAY SAFE EAST COASTERS. MANY PRAYERS HEADING YOUR WAY.

Decie--Love your Bossy Boring Boris. Hope you don't mind if I appropriate it for my next recap. I would add The Bull after his name, though.

If Max and RE are still together tonight, my take is that he has too much to lose if he tried to separate from her. Does he feel a need to protect her from herself and from her children? Of course, being a man, he can get desired nookie off premises, so if he's embroiled in work, he gets fed regularly and has a dust-free house to come home to, what does he care if his mujer is loca. Besides, now that Jana is home, he would want to be there for her. My guess is that the two are together. Dying to know if we have an Oscar-Conny coupling and a Melissa-Claudio coupling.

P.S. I may lose power due to Sandy. If it takes a few days to restore, I may not meet our Wednesday appointed time. I hope you will all pardon me ahead of time. Obvio if the power goes out, I won't be able to communicate with anyone in CarayCaray.

Anita, a lot of us are in the same situation, and if you can't recap, I'll also likely have no internet connection-don't sweat it. There must be a lot of us on the eastern seaboard.
UA, you OK?

All is well. I have power as of this moment and I will shortly be making dinner. Carmen and Figaro woke u and will shortly demand to be fed. They are not acting weird which is a good sign.

Have been watching the weather channel all day and hoping all of you east coasters are well. I feel almost guilty sitting in 90 degree temps with not a drop of rain or wind in sight. Then again we don't get weather extremes here unless you count 30 or 40 consecutive days with temps over 100.

If you need a smile someone tweeted me saying I'm not going to have a power outage, I'm just going Amish for a few days. Take care

FIVE friggin' years, are you kidding me what a truckload of bull. This is just lame writing and I protest! What a disappointment to have precious Mateo being abused with lack of education and sober adult supervision and little Alexia getting her warm fuzzies from the likes of Frigida and then only warmth on a cold phone from her dad. Just cruel in my book.

I will say again how I enjoyed SuperMarta's SuperRecap of such a downer of an episode. Now I am in Oaxaca feeling lucky but I will watch for recaps so I can keep up. Be safe and cozy you EastEnders...
CherylOaxaca in paradise but missing Univision.

When you watch this serial in america are you getting it in spanish with english subtitles ? I'm watching it in spanish in spain. Love the serial. Hate the five year jump ( I'm going to get somebody at playtime for that. smile )One of the comments said that Rodrigo had aged with glasses and a beard but he has always had a beard. Shame we've lost the thing that attracted us to the serial in the first place the love affair between Rodrigo & Luciana.

Hello Marilyn...glad you're enjoying it in Spanish in Spain. We enjoyed it in Spanish also. Most of us watch it with closed captions in Spanish as we are trying to learn the language. Some may watch with English cc's, and at least one of our viewers has a very old TV and no closed captions at all.

Hang in there with Refugio because the ending is spectacular. And, with all telenovelas, you can trust that True Love will triumph.

Thanks for coming back to me Judy B. I must admit I was pretty disappointed with the five year gap episode but after watching another one I forgave them. I know Rodrigo's daughter is supposed to be cute but sometimes she sounds cheeky to me. I wish Frigida would growl again like she did earlier on. I was expecting Patricio to be walking. All of my evenings are now taken up with south american soaps. I'm ignoring my phone and invitations from friends. There is another telenovela which I love but I'm not going to comment here on it as I'm still pretending it is real. Marilyn, Spain.

We were all terribly upset with the 5-year jump Marilyn. Outraged really. Rodrigo's daughter is, I guess you could say "consentida". But given how cold and dismissive her mother is, I think we all cut her some slack.

This telenovela generated very strong reactions and some debates about forgiveness. It's amazing how passionate we become about them and how much our reactions reveal about our own code of values and our own emotional vulnerabilities. We joke about it being a "therapy group" and sometimes it is. Glad you're enjoying your soaps. They are addictive.
