La Malquerida #75, 12/8/2014: Itzel Teaches Acacia the True Meaning of Trust and Loyalty

Mexico Episode #81

Skipping the old…
Hector has reluctantly agreed to take Juliana to dinner. They’re wrapping up, and he is eager to leave and get news of Cris’ health. Juliana, however, tries to prolong the meal by saying she understands why Esteban was so jealous, with Hector being such a gentleman and all. Hector doesn’t respond to her flattery, so she tries another tactic—the damsel in distress. She moans about getting a divorce, not having a place to stay right now, or even enough money for a taxi. She feels SO unprotected (desamparada). She puts her head on his shoulder. He looks at his shoulder like an insect just landed on it.

The doctor has just told everyone in the waiting room that Cris has lost the baby, everyone is devastated and Esteban wails in despair. Juan Carlos tells him he needs to calm down because Cris needs him to be strong. Acacia tries to follow Esteban as he flees the waiting room, but JC stops her. Acacia and Elena cry in each other’s arms.

Hector manages to escape Juliana, after telling her that he’s sure German won’t leave her unprotected. He’s going to speak to Acacia to get the update on Cris. Juliana goes in for the full body hug and cheek kiss as he departs. It’s just as ineffective as the head on the shoulders move, but she doesn’t seem to realize that.

Ulises and German hike through the countryside with the clues from what Uli remembers from his escape, looking for the place where he was being held. He tells German about the man who escaped with him and Itzel but was killed in the woods. They figure if they stumble across his body, they will soon find the place they were held.

Este goes to see Cristina. She is inconsolable and blames herself for losing the baby. Este tries to calm her and tells her that she has to get better.

Ulises looks through his binoculars and sees some lands and a building that could fit what he’s looking for. German says those lands belong to Danilo, Ale’s husband. Then he starts going off about how Dan has Ale and his mistress living under the same roof, but hey, why should he care anymore? (Because you still love Ale, you big dope!)

Acacia goes to see Cris and says how sorry she is. She puts her head on Cris’ shoulder and cries. The doctor comes in to take Cris to do a dilation and curettage (D&C), because she is losing too much blood. Cris begs Este to not be mad at her. He comforts her, tells her none of this was her fault, and leaves the room. Acacia follows him and tries to comfort him, but he shrugs her off and leaves. He wants to be alone for a while.

German visits Juli in her hotel room. He’s paid for another three nights at the hotel, but thinks she should go to her parents’ house in San Jacinto after that. She doesn’t like the clipped tone German is using with her. Everything she did, she did for him and his brother! German is starting to think that everything she did, including putting up with Norberto all these years, was for money. He gets the call that Cris lost the baby, but tells Juli it’s not a good idea for her to come with him to the hospital.

Acacia can’t leave well enough alone and follows Esteban into the hospital chapel. He’s railing at God for doing this, although he prayed and begged and made promises. Acacia reaches out to him and says she can’t stand to see him like this. He kneels on one side of the pews and she kneels on the other. They encircle each other’s faces, close their eyes, bring their foreheads together, and then end up nose to nose—a whisper away from a kiss…

Uli updates Art on his search for the kidnapping site. Art tells him that Cris’ baby died and encourages him to go see Acacia. Uli is sure she has Manuel by her side. Carmen and Andres enter happily, and Art goes to get ready to see Luisa. Uli sadly notes all the loving/happy couples around him.

Back in the chapel, it’s Este who pulls away from the near kiss first. He says what happened to the baby is his fault- God is punishing him! Acacia follows him, AGAIN, and begs him not to speak this way. He says this baby was his salvation, but now he’s condemned forever. He leaves the chapel. Acacia sits alone and weeps.

Rosa stands in the Benavente kitchen and cries about the loss of the baby, remembering losing her own daughter. She speaks to Luisa about what a shame it is, since Cris and Este would have been such good parents, not like the children of those loose single mothers leaving babies all over the place. She warns Luisa that she better not turn up knocked-up (salir con tu Domingo siete).

Danilo and Norberto share a tequila at the Association office. Norb is warning Dan that he better be careful since Este was asking about the brothel. Dan wants to know how he found out. Norb, of course, doesn’t mention that it was his drunk self with the loose lips. “You know, word spreads fast in a small town.” (Pueblo chico, infierno grande; small town, big hell; the smaller the town, the bigger the fuss.) Dan warns Norb to keep his mouth shut—if he falls, Norb falls too. Dan then brags that he and Este are now practically BFF. He’s sure that now that Cris has lost the baby (news to Norb), that Este will be VERY distracted. They then speak about Benavente. Dan pours Norb another drink and says that when Norb gets his hands on Benavente, they’ll talk about “another” kind of business.

Alejandra, in her bordello bedroom prison, caresses a Sacred Heart card and prays. Julianita comes in with a ringing cell phone and informs Ale that Luisa is calling her. She warns Ale no funny business and has her put the call on speaker phone. Luisa wants to know if Ale has spoken to Acacia. She’s worried about Acacia and Cris. Ale hasn’t heard from her, but wonders if they should send Padre Roque to the hospital to see them. Luisa says that would be a great idea, IF Padre Roque hadn’t left early this morning on a sudden trip, which will end with him going to a new parish! Ale is shocked. She wonders who she will now give the evidence she is gathering.

Manuel brings Acacia a sandwich, while Elena and JC wonder where Esteban is. Acacia says he went off in a bad state. She asks why this had to happen. JC says only God knows why He takes someone as innocent as this baby. Hector arrives and gets the news from Acacia about the baby. He comforts her. Manuel observes.

As soon as Dan shows up in the bedroom-prison, Ale is after him like a fury.
A: That’s why you went to the Church, right?! (She shoves him.) Damn you! What did you do to Padre Roque?!
Dan denies, denies, denies.
A: Did he really go, or did you disappear him?
D: He probably left because he couldn’t handle everything I told him. You don’t know how much good it did me to confess.
Ale screams at him as he grabs hold of her and tries to pry him off her. Dan loses his (limited) patience and grabs her by the hair, dragging her to the other side of the room. He shoves her to the floor, shows her the diary and goes off on her for daring to write about everything and turn him in to the police. He drags her up by her hair, shoves her against the mirror, and starts to bang her head against the mirror (this scene was cut at the end by Uni before the head banging began).

JC encourages Este and Acacia to go home for a while—Hector will drive them. He and Elena will stay with Cris. Este extends his hand and thanks Hector. Hector is just as surprised as we are. Manuel further surprises us by also thanking and apologizing to his dad…oops, I mean Hector, for the way he acted when they first met. He thanks him for helping his brother and Acacia, and wants to prove to him that he’s a good person. Hector says he doesn’t have to prove anything to him.

Luckily, we’re spared any more of the head-mirror smashing scene. Unfortunately, now we’ve moved on to Ale cowering on the floor next to the nightstand while Dan rails at her and threatens to kick her. Ale swears she won’t betray him, pointing to how many times she’s had the chance and hasn’t done it. Dan says it’s only because he’s threatened to kill the little painter, and she points out that that is exactly why she won’t do it. While he creepily caresses her face, she tries to placate him by saying she’s dedicated to staying with him, and she can see that he’s changing for her too. He could have killed Padre Roque, but he didn’t. He says he didn’t want her to hate him (any more than she already does?). She asks him to stay on that path and not do anything else. He wants her to start being nicer to him, as of right now—he runs his hand up her bare leg. Blech!

The writers have a bit of mercy on us, and quickly switch the scene to Arturo and Luisa on their date. She’s chosen a humble local food place for their meal, with the best quesadillas in town. Art loves it. They flirt. He says she is one of a kind (única) then drops the A-Bomb—te AMO. He takes her face in his hand, and draws her in for the KISS!

Acacia is getting air outside the entrance of Benavente, when a young woman approaches, asking for her by name. It’s Itzel! And she introduces herself as a friend of Ulises.

Inside Benavente, Este cries about the baby-his salvation, dying. Meanwhile, Rubio pours the tequila. Este laments that he can’t go back to Cris, nor can he be with Acacia!

Itzel compliments Acacia on being beautiful, just as Uli described her, which is why he calls her Bonita. Acacia tells her everyone is looking for her. Itzel explains that’s why she’s here- her cousin Juancho brought her. He knew how to get here, since he brought the LETTER from Uli. Acacia invites her inside. (NO!!! Rubio is in there!)

Rubio tells Este that things happen for a reason—perhaps this means he should be with Acacia. Este loses it and starts choking Rubio. “I told you that’s impossible!” Este never thought he would feel so strongly about having a baby. Rubio says it really doesn’t matter WHO the mother is, if a baby is what he wants. Hint, hint. Este throws him across the room and kicks him out of the office.

Acacia takes Itzel into the kitchen where Rosa asks about Cris. Acacia asks for them to be left alone so that they can talk. She wonders why Itzel has been hiding with so many people looking for her. Itzel explains that the bad men came looking for her again, and she and her grandma had to go hide in another town. Seeing that Acacia is clueless, she says that Uli must have spared her the details so as not to make her more worried. (No, Itzel. She just doesn’t bother to listen to other people’s problems, and seems to not have heard a word Uli said while she was feeling sorry for herself.) Acacia asks Itzel to start from the beginning and tell her everything.

In his house, Uli speaks with German about finding the dead man, finding his family, and giving him a proper burial. (Always thinking of others, that Ulises.) And of course he wants to find the drug house and prove his innocence to Acacia. Uli says she should have believed in him. They’re interrupted by Luisa and Art returning—holding hands and beaming. Luisa wants to get home and check on everyone, so she and German rush out. She shyly pecks Art on the mouth, but it’s clear to Uli that she and Art have made a love connection. He teases his bro and asks for all the details.

Itzel ends her story by saying that they knew that Uli was behind it when the doctor came to the village to do healthcare, and her cousin learned from the doctor that Uli was in jail and looking for Itzel. That’s why Itzel came to see if she could help.
A: That’s why you came looking for me?
I: Ulises always said that he trusts you-- that you would help him.
A: Ulises was in jail, but he’s been released.
I: Because you helped him, right? The poor man did nothing but call your name while he was burning with fever.
Acacia starts to cry in shame.
I: Only your love gave him the strength to go on. That’s why he sent you the letter.
Acacia admits she and Ulises broke up because she didn’t believe him. She tells Itzel that she (Acacia) needs to see Uli.

Cris wakes up to Elena and JC by her side. She asks for Acacia and Este, and wants to know how Este is handling the baby’s death. They tell her he’s taking it hard, but that’s expected.

Itzel continues to tell Acacia what she should have known all along—what a good man Uli is. Acacia says she should have never doubted him. Itzel wants to see Uli now, but her cousin has already gone back to town, so Acacia leaves her alone in the kitchen (NOOOO!!!) to see what she can do about getting into town to see Uli.

The hos are getting the brothel ready for another night at the ho-down. Perla and Julianita gossip about Ale getting a beatdown. Perla’s just happy it wasn’t her, but thinks that SHE should be the lady of the house. J-nita asks Perla if she’s heard from Memo. Almost on cue the sound of mariachi can be heard, and Memo can be seen standing with them right outside the window. Perla and the girls practically pee their pants in excitement. She runs out into his arms and covers him in smooches, while he hands her a small bunch of flowers.

Acacia knocks on the office door, enters, and starts rubbing Esteban’s shoulders. He screams at her to leave him alone! He doesn’t want to hear anything she has to say. He storms out and says he’s going to see his wife. Acacia cries.

Memo and Perla bring the kissing inside, but Perla puts a halt to things saying that Dan is going to find out. Dan hobbles in, wanting to know what it is he’s going to find out.

Acacia has called Hector (thank goodness!), and tells Itzel that she will need to meet Hector and make plans to give her testimony. Itzel gets nervous and jumpy. She only wants to talk to Ulises! Acacia begs her to trust her. (Ironic, I know.)

Memo pretends that he brought the mariachi to celebrate J-nita’s birthday and to please the customers. J-nita confirms it’s her birthday to cover for Perla and Memo.

Acacia and Itzel meet Hector in a restaurant. He is so happy and pleased to meet such a brave woman. Uli arrives almost immediately afterwards, accompanied by Carmen and Art. Acacia has to look on from the sidelines as Uli and Itzel embrace with love and caring and he thanks the heavens that she is well and safe.

Norb scolds Manuel for not being glued to Acacia’s side at the hospital. Manuel tells him to chill. They discuss how devastated Cris and Este are, and Manuel’s strategy for supporting and winning Acacia. This includes making nice with Hector, who Acacia respects. He wants to convince him that he’s the ideal man for Acacia.

Itzel explains that she came, against her grandma’s wishes, because she heard he was in jail, and went straight to Acacia because he trusts her. Uli says he was mistaken to do so—Acacia declared against him. Carmen gets in Acacia’s face and points out that she said that one day Uli would prove his innocence, and Acacia would be eaten up by guilt and shame! Hector tries to diffuse the situation. This isn’t what they came for. Carmen goes to Itzel and thanks for her all she did for her son. She envelops her in a big hug. “No. He was the one who saved me.”

Hector asks everyone to sit, and Acacia says it’s better that she leave. Carmen heartily agrees and Hector escorts Acacia out.

Perla and Memo canoodle some more while Dan is out of the room, but quickly separate when he comes back with Ale, covering her eyes with his hands. He takes his hands off her eyes and the mariachi band strikes up. Then he hands her the flower Memo brought Perla (classy), and kisses Ale. He tells her he will treat her like a queen like this, if and when she continues to behave and treat him nice. (I leave it up to your imaginations to figure out what went on in that bedroom earlier. I don’t have enough mind bleach.) Ale looks like she’s going to be sick. Dan joins his voice with the mariachi and demands a kiss from Ale for his efforts. He shoves her in front of the mariachi band and tells her to order whatever songs she wants. He walks up to Memo and warns him not to go doing things on his own like this again, and that they really have to watch their step and their backs since word is going around town about the brothel.

Acacia whines and cries to Hector about how she didn’t trust Uli and deserves how Carmen treated her. Hector disagrees. I agree with Acacia. Hector and I both agree that Acacia needs to accept and take responsibility for her actions. Acacia just wants the bad guys to get caught, especially now that she knows all that Uli went through. Hector tells her to give things time, and encourages her to go home to rest and support her mom. He asks her to give his greetings to Cris, who will go home tomorrow, and gives her a parting fatherly hug.

In the hospital, Este hovers over Cris. She refuses to eat. He apologizes for running off earlier and says they have to get through this together.

Hector and Uli try to convince Itzel to testify. She’s worried about her grandma and family, but is considering it. She and her cousin Juancho need a place to stay for the night, and Carmen and Art offer up their home, while Carmen caresses her hair and arm lovingly. It’s a pleasure for them to host someone who has done so much to help her son. Hector further eases Itzel’s fears by saying he’ll send someone to inform her grandma that she’s safe and they are taking care of her. Hector, Carmen and Art leave Uli and Itzel alone. She tells him how bad she feels that Acacia did not believe in him. “You don’t know how much it hurts me, Itzel. But life has to go on.” (Hey! Is that a meaningful glance between these two? Oh, pretty please, Writers!)

Este tells Cris that soon they can try for another baby. Cris asks if that’s what he really wants. The doctor interrupts to see how she feels. She’s in pain and she’s really sad. The doc says a psychologist could come to see her, as depression is very common in these cases. Este says they’ll think about it. Cris asks the doctor if it will be possible for her to get pregnant again. His expression isn’t hopeful.

Avances: Cris falls into a deep depression, rips up and throws around all the baby stuff (STILL!) in her bedroom, and rejects Esteban, who creeps into Acacia’s room and empty bed.

If you missed it, RG posted this year’s Televisa thanks you/end of year/Christmas video. Each year, these videos feature Televisa’s variety show, news, and telenovela stars (telenovelas in production at the time the video is shot in the late summer). It’s always a treat to catch glimpses of our favorite telenovela stars lip syncing and enjoying themselves, as they say THANKS to us for watching. Our La Malquerida stars are featured this year. Here is this year’s thank you video, as well as the videos from the last few years.(Update: Televisa scrubbed the internet of the best quality 2014 videos. I'll keep looking for a better quality.)

Oh wow! Looks like Televisa already took down all videos of their 2014 Thank You video. I'll try to find it elsewhere and will let you know if I find it, but enjoy the other years' video anyway. They're fun.

Thanks so much , Vivi. I am watching the episode right now. It is a dark, rainy , dismal morning, so I am glad to have your wonderful recap as I eat my breakfast before I go out into this messy mess.

Yay..German tells Uli "those lands belong to Danilo." Perhaps the web that Damnilo has woven will start to unravel soon.

I got a kick out of Juliana's body language as she smarmed and purred and wiggled around poor Hector.

Ick..Rubio is a devil whispering into already crazy Estenuts ' s ear. Rubio is going to be his own undoing as he keeps trying to manipulate these two dangerous , crazy guys.

Morning, Susanlynn!

Yes, Juli was a hoot in her attempted seduction. Poor Hector.

I also hope that Uli makes note that the lands that seemed familiar belong to Dan, and continues to investigate. He's so close.

Diana- Can you recap on Wed for me and I'll recap Thurs? I have an event Wed night.

Vivi, you did a masterful job conveying the rather bleak events of last night. Your conversation translations were wonderful and greatly appreciated. A powerful, tightly written, exceptional summary.

"Dan loses his (limited) patience and grabs her by the hair, dragging her to the other side of the room"; "Este extends his hand and thanks Hector. Hector is just as surprised as we are. Manuel further surprises us by also thanking and apologizing to his dad…oops, I mean Hector" (what fun) and "then drops the A-Bomb—te AMO" were among my favorites.

"Acacia knocks on the office door, enters, and starts rubbing Esteban’s shoulders. He screams at her to leave him alone! He doesn’t want to hear anything she has to say. He storms out and says he’s going to see his wife" I wanted to reach through the screen and throttle Acacia! For once, Este was trying to do the right thing and made it crystal clear he wanted to be by himself. Yet, she persisted on following him, pawing him and trying to "comfort" him. Good heavens girl, let him be! It was maddening.

"Este cries about the baby-his salvation, dying...Este laments that he can’t go back to Cris". Ummm, what?? So your child dies and that means you are going to punish Cris further by leaving her?

As disgusted as I am with both Este and Acacia, Danilo sunk to even more loathsome depravity. I cringed at what happened in the bedroom. For the first time, I am grateful at Uni's cutting what happened to Ale out.

Memo is playing with fire. He is lucky Danilo was so consumed with vengeance on Ale. Seeing him present Ale with the flower was sickening.

Susanlynn, "Estenuts" (good one)has his most animated scenes with Rubio, doesn't he??

I loved the tender moments between Arturo and Luisa and Itzel and Uli (Vivi, there DEFINITELY was a spark!), but those sweet interludes just could not compensate for Ale's more dire than ever predicament or for Cris' heartbreak.

I see no one heeded some of our bloggers' advice that all of the baby Paraphernalia be removed. I am dreading seeing Cris plummet into depression.

Vivi, gracias.

Diana

Vivi, of course, I will be happy to recap Wednesday.

Diana

Hi Vivi---Thank you for an EXCELLENT and early recap. I don't think that I will be able to get my thoughts together and take notes to be able to comment today as I usually do. I have to get ready for a funeral, my wife's side of the family. So much happened last night. I have several thoughts and would love leave the LM faithful with a few of them but my time is limited today--maybe later?

The only thing that I will say for now is that last night I think that I saw the sun just starting to peek through the dark clouds that have been hanging over El Soto for so long. Itzel,
YEAH!!! A good sign of things to come? I sure hope so.
the gringo

Diana- Thanks so much for taking Wed, amiga! And thanks for the great comment, as usual. I wanted to throttle Acacia too. She just would not leave Este alone! Even if they didn’t have the acknowledged sexual tension between them, when someone is in that state, and they ask to be left alone for a while, you leave them alone, dammit. I very much enjoyed seeing her pushed aside as everyone welcomed and fawned over Itzel (deservedly), and when Carmen laid into her. I wish she had taken a moment to give Itzel a heartfelt thank you for all she did to save Uli’s life, and stopped thinking about herself and how she messed up for just a few minutes.

Gringo- Thanks for dropping by. Yes, the Moon Goddess Itzel has brought a bit of sunlight to Soto. Even if things don’t turn romantic with Uli, they are now bonded for life, and her testimony will be just what he needs to help clear his name and prove his story once and for all.

Even if Uli and Acacia do end up together in the end, I just can’t see Carmen ever forgiving Acacia and accepting her as a daughter-in-law. It was bad enough when Acacia just didn’t believe Uli, but when she testified against him, that nailed the coffin shut and buried any good feelings Carmen might have had about her for good.

The prove you're not a robot test has moved from numbers to words now. How annoying!

Gringo- All the best to you, your wife, and her family today.

Just great Vivi.

"Acacia whines and cries to Hector about how she didn’t trust Uli and deserves how Carmen treated her. Hector disagrees. I agree with Acacia."

Loved the comic relief last night.
Juliana needs a little work at being coy
Itzel unknowingly shaming the xxit outta Acacia
Danny co-opting Memo's band & corsage

Ulis & Itzel, in a horrible situation, were emboldened to escape because they are an innate team. Courage, respect, commitment and loyalty they give to each other like life blood. Please don't let something happen to Itzel just so Acacia can be homecoming queen.

Tofie- So true. Juli either needs to tone down her flirting technique, or needs to start hitting on less intelligent men. :)

Good morning and thanks for the recap!

I do hope Hector doesn't fall into the trap Juli is trying to set. Hopefully he's smarter than that. Juli is just completely desperate and will do anything to make her financial situation better. I hope Germán gets tired of paying a hotel for her and she is forced to go with her parents.

Esteban was in really bad shape and it actually was not at all enjoyable to see Rubio provoking him. Esteban is digging his own grace here. If he really wants to not be attracted to Acacia then he should try and focus on helping Cris. And then after that he should really consider preserving his marriage.

I think Uli and Itzel are good friends and that's it. They have been there for each other. Carmen obviously had no problem insulting Acacia and receiving Itzel with open arms.

Memo is lucky and he better be more careful next time. I hope Ale finds an ally in this. Who could it be?

I liked that scene with Manuel and Hector aka father and son Peniche.

gringo, will be thinking of you, your wife and your family today.

TF, I agree - Memo had a very narrow escape last night. While I had also fervently hoped for someone to help Ale, that light is dimming for me.

I think Ale is going to have rely on her resilience as she always has. My one hope is Hector. Once he finishes fixing things with Itzel's testimony and Uli's misfortunes, I am hoping he will turn his attention to German and thus, Ale. He is a multitasker, if nothing else!

I did not understand why Manuel was engaging with Hector the way he was. Could he possibly garner there is a Hector/Cris connection and that it might be to his advantage to make nice? Manuel is difficult to read sometimes but I'm wondering if there may be a bit more there than I initially thought.

TF- I really don't think there's ANY danger of Hector falling for anything Juli is selling. Don't worry. He could barely keep himself from rolling his eyes during her little act.

Between Rubio whispering about dumping Cris and making Acacia his baby-mama in his ear, and Acacia accosting him wherever he went, Este was fighting back demons on all fronts this episode. I don't think he'll be successful.

I find it interesting that he kept calling the baby his salvation. As if this baby would have washed away all his sins (murder, coveting his boss' wife, coveting his wife's daughter). Well, now he can't even cling to that allusion, and all his sins and evil deeds are staring at him in his face.

Diana- I think that was you in the last comment. It sounded like your "voice."

Here is a bit more detail about what Manuel said to Norb about why he's making nice to Hector: He's noticed how much Acacia respects Hector and heeds his advice. Now that Este and Cris are back together, he knows Este will be trying to separate him from Acacia. He sees having Acacia's new father figure on his side as an advantage to fight Este's negative influence. Does that make sense?

Esteban's lament is because he does have a conscience. His prayer was for Cris and the baby to survive, not for his redemption. He's fighting the devil in himself.

Vivi I agree. Hector definitely looked uncomfortable and was really trying to make clear that he wouldn't be the person that Juli should count on. She needs to find someone else to take her pity party to that is if anyone is willing to listen.

I don't think the baby would've made Este's obsession with Acacia disappear overnight.

Anonymous, I agree that Hector could be counted on to help Ale. I think it'll be a matter of her finding someone she can trust that Dan would least expect.

Yes! Thanks Vivi that was me.

Appreciate your filling me in. I now know what is motivating Manuel and yes, it makes perfect sense. I give him a little credit for figuring out how he can use Hector to his advantage.

But, I'm pretty sure Hector will figure him out (if he hasn't already). It's pretty difficult to put anything over on Hector.

Diana

Thanks, Vivi. My favorite snark: He [Hector] looks at his shoulder like an insect just landed on it. Appreciate the translation of salir con tu Domingo siete. Such a colorful way to say "knocked up."

I'm sure Hector has had a lot of practice, especially since his divorce, deflecting pushy women. Interesting that Juliana went the "I'm a women sooo unprotected!" route. She should realize that's how she wound up with Norb in the first place. Maybe if she had focused on working to help her sick dad out of his financial mess instead of hooking up with someone with ready cash, things would've been different.

Yay, Itzel is back! Yay, Carmen dissed Acacia! Yay, at first Uli didn’t even notice Acacia was standing there!

Back when Itzel was nursing Uli back to health, she said something like "you've got to get well" and sighed to herself "if only to return to her (Acacia).” My take is Itzel had fallen in love with Uli. Now she sees his great love Acacia didn't even believe him much less help him. But so far Uli is still in love with Acacia.

In real life I think Ale would've killed Danilo by now. I like German, but this sacrifice by Ale of enduring sexual humiliation by Danilo is just too great.

For the moment he sang, Danilo sounded pretty good. Alberto Estrella could be in a musical.

ITA with everyone on Acacia trying to comfort Esteban. Stop it – and instead get that baby stuff out of your mother’s bedroom.

"I like German, but this sacrifice by Ale of enduring sexual humiliation by Danilo is just too great."

Niecie- For some reason this line made me laugh out loud. I don't think you intended it to be funny, but I could just see you taking Ale's hand, giving her a look, and saying, "Girl, I know Big Sexy looks good shirtless and all, but is his life REALLY worth you letting Danevil slime all over you everyday?"

Niecie, I think you are right - Itzel is already hooked on Uli. And, who can blame her.

I am definitely rooting for them as a couple.

Acacia tries to garner and gather sympathy from everyone in her orbit. She knows Este is infatuated with her yet she continued to chase him last night all because SHE wanted comfort. Along with the ability to love must come the understanding that there are times others suffer more than she does and she must submerge her "suffering" to be there for others.

Diana

Aha! I found a place where the 2014 Thank You video still remains: https://vid.me/VKs8

The video is jumpy for me, but don't know if that's just my laptop.

Vivi, when I had tried to view one of the links earlier, it said Private. I will try this one later - thanks!

Diana

Diana- Yep, that was the 2014 video, which Televisa just pulled yesterday from the internet. Not sure why. The others are old and are all on YouTube, so there should be now problem with those links. The 2014 video is fun because the Malquerida cast is in it, on set and in character.

Vivi....your recap really was masterful. Just can't get enough. Too many favorite lines to reiterate. I keep the barf bucket near my TV chair so that when that Black Hole of Emotional Need (BHOEN--as in 'be ho-in') appears named Juliana, I can reach for the bucket.

The only person who needs therapy more than BHOEN is Estefan, and I was hoping when the doc offered psychological counseling to him and Cris that they might take the doc up on it. Probably not gonna happen. From the previews, it looks like Cris is gonna blow a gasket tonight. It's about time.

Really Estefan Espantoso, what is your obsession with a girl more than half your age who happens to be your step-daughter all about? Are we really supposed to feel sorry for you? I reach for the barf bucket again.

Gotta love that Itzel. What a breath of fresh air in El Soto amid the suffocating dysfunction.

Dona Gringuita- LOL! be ho-in. :) Maybe Juliana should join Dan's girls? She was coming on to him too when she first met him.

Just got home and played the video on my tablet. It works perfectly on the tablet, not jumpy like on my laptop.

SAY IT AGAIN, JULIANA SHOULD JOIN
DAN GIRLS, WE'R ON THE SAME PAGE.
