La Sombra del Pasado #31, 03/31/2015

Recap courtesy of HellaShelle

Severiano (Sev) saves Abelardo (Lardo) from the thugs that were beating him up. They jump off of him as soon as Sev says boo. Sev tells Lardo to get in the car and shushes the gang leader when he tries to explain that they were just playing with him.

Aldonza (Aldie) and Renato (Ren) are strolling through the streets. Aldonza has just shared her secret recipe for frying monsters in hell aka her big plans, but we were not privy to it. Whatever it is, Renato seems to think it’s a good idea, but wants to study the contract and local laws to make sure they can do it legally. He recognizes that Sev’s very powerful so they can’t jump into this willy nilly. Aldonza says she’s willing to put her life on the line for this. Renato says he wouldn’t recommend that as her lawyer…but as a man, he’ll walk into Hell with her if she asks. She smiles, thanks him and says that’s just what she needed to hear. In return he thanks her for her company. Um…seriously? I already feel for his poor, broken heart.

Valeria (Val) and Cristobal (Cris) are fighting about the engagement party. Val says it wasn’t her idea, so if he wants to be mad, he should be mad at his mom. He says he already chewed his mom out about it, but she also should have told him what they were planning. She returns that’s she hasn’t had a chance because he’s bailed on her the past few days, always “so tired.” But that being said, she admits she likes the engagement party idea. Well, he doesn’t. It’s stupid. Val shoots back that he’s just mad because he doesn’t want certain people to hear the official announcement that they’re engagement. Cris is pissed that she’s on her jealously kick again. Val says he should admit that she has a point because since Aldonza came back, he can’t even stand himself and he’s even picking fights with Lardo just b/c Lardo has a thing for Aldonza. Cris is ticked that she’s talking to Lardo at all and pissed that Val believes that idiot over him.

Back and Padre Jeronimo’s, Adelina says Aldonza should’ve asked Ren to stay for dinner, but Aldonza explains that he had work to do back at the hotel. She’s pleased though because things are moving along faster than she expected. Joaquin’s repairing the house and…Adelina cuts her off, upset that she asked Joaquin to fix the house. She shares that his wife is jealous and thinks Joaquin still has a thing for her. Aldonza teases her about being a husband stealer. Adelina’s concerned that they just got back to SL and already they’re causing gossip. Aldie says they’re not doing anything wrong, they shouldn’t have to live in lockdown just b/c SL likes gossip. Her aunt’s conscience is clean and she knows who she is, so all of SL can go kick rocks. They’ll show they’re decent through their actions. Adelina wishes she was that brave. Aldonza thinks her aunt is the braver of the two. They hug.

Cris is tired of fighting. He feels like everyone got together to ruin his day today. Val pleads with him to stay, but he shakes her off and leaves…Only to realize he doesn’t have his keys. He doesn’t want to go back into Val’s house, so he stalks off, frustrated.

Aldonza asks her uncle to settle the issue of her mother’s ashes before they move into the Santuario house. Padre Jeronimo (PadrJ) says he can’t promise anything and Aldonza wants to know why he’s stalling. Adelina admits she’s the one that doesn’t want Roberta buried in the family tomb, she wants her ashes to stay in the church. When Aldonza asks why, Adelina says that Rob was her sister and she has a right to make this decision too. Aldie presses and Adelina blurts out that Roberta wasn’t a good wife and doesn’t deserve to be buried with Raymundo. Aldonza snaps at Adelina for saying that to her. Adelina retorts that Aldonza’s was first in line to acknowledge her mother’s ways before. Aldonza rushes out of the house, hurt and offended. Adelina calls for her to stay and, after she leaves, admits to that she said those things to keep Aldie out of the tomb.

Lardo thanks Sev for saving him. Sev wants to know what the beating was about. Lardo admits he owes those guys money and they were the ones that beat him up before. He had to blame Cris because he couldn’t tell his folks about the trouble he’s in. Sev is gonna let this slide but if Lardo blames Cris for foolishness again, he’ll have trouble.

Humberto (Hum) gets home and finds Val at the table, obviously having cried. He asks if she fought with Cris again. She says yes, they had a big fight and Cris left. Hum says his car is still outside and suggests that she go find him and work it out. She thanks him for the good advice and leaves.

Cris gets to the park and finds Aldonza on a bench, crying. She tries to leave, but he wants to know what’s up. She says it has nothing to do with him. He asks if it’s about her boyfriend. At her confusion, he tells her he saw her leaving the hotel with a guy. She cuts him off to say she doesn’t owe him explanations, but it’s not what he thinks. She starts lumping him in with the rest of the town as a gossip that jumps to conclusions, and he interrupts, trying to explain that he’s not judging her, but then she interrupts, telling him to just leave her alone. He thinks it’s a shame that they can’t be friends. She doesn’t think they’ll ever be able to. He says, for his part, he wants her to be happy and would gladly help her out if she needed him. She says she doesn’t wish him ill either. He jumps on that, saying that she should let her guard down then and tell him what’s wrong because he knows she’s not crying for nothing. She finally admits that it’s about her mom, about things her aunt said about Rob that truly hurt her. She barely has a sentence out before he’s hugging her, stroking her hair. He takes her face in his hands and promises that everything will be okay. So, of course, that’s when Valeria should find them.

Emmanuel (E) is fighting the urge to scarf down his candy house, but it’s too awesome for anything but a special occasion, so he puts it on his shelf and we don’t get to find out what the deal is with the ring.

Valeria swoops in, already at an 8 or 9. She accuses Cris of leaving her house so he could come find Aldie (whore vocab alert! I’m adding Buscona to the list). Cris tells her not to insult Aldonza, who is just letting the foolishness wash over her. Val insists Cris has no business here, much the less hugging Aldonza. Cris is about to volley back, but Aldonza’s so over this scene. She calmly stops him, tells him Val is right and suggests that she fix her problems and he fix his because clearly he has his own life issues to deal with. She gives Val a pointed look when she notes that they’re “serious issues.” She leaves and Valeria starts hashing this out in the town square, but Cris doesn’t want to be yelling in the streets. She snaps at him to let her go and not touch her, which is funny because he’s not touching her, then turns on her heel to storm away, leaving him having to jog to catch up to her.

Hum brings cookies and milk to Emmanuel’s room for dinner. He wants to know where his stuff is. E says Pru took them.

Adelina is up and anxiously waiting when Aldie gets home, so they can talk. Aldie, resigned, says there’s no need to talk it out because her aunt is right, and if that’s how Adelina wants things, her mom’s ashes will stay in the church as she wishes. Adelina’s sorry she hurt Aldonza, but Aldie says there’s no need to apologize because, as Adelina pointed out, Rob was her sister and she should have a say in how they lay her to rest. Aldie does insist on a mass for her mom because they don’t deny that to even the worst person in the world. Adelina has no problem with that. She wants to know if anything else has Aldonza upset, but Aldie denies it.

Cris and Val are in front of her house, but she doesn’t want to bring their fight inside. Besides, he’s had their whole walk back to come up with a good lie. He says he doesn’t need one, he just ran into Aldonza while he was trying to figure out his car key situation. She was crying; what was he supposed to do, just ignore her. With sarcasm dripping all over her words, Val says oh of course not. He’s so good mannered and Aldonza’s a friend, so of course he had to comfort her. Cris thinks it’s bad enough that her mom when Old Testament on Aldie, now she has to add to it. He’s explained the situation but clearly Val doesn’t want to understand. Val says now she will have a hard time not believe Lardo and thinks it’s absurd that Cris is pissed when she’s the one that has a right to be offended. She goes into her house and Cris heads home.

Pru is waiting for Hum on their bed in a come hither pose. He wants to know why she moved his things. Well, because this is his room and he should have its comforts. He’s more uncomfortable here, he says, with a woman who – she cuts him off. She wants to stop fighting. She’s been thinking and he hasn’t given her a reason to distrust him. Besides, they shouldn’t ruin this wedding time for their baby. He agrees. I should point out here that Pru has gently pushed Hum onto the bed and taken off his shoes and she is literally kissing his feet. She tells him to get comfy because she’s going to get his “pantuflotas y pijamota” which sounds like pants and pjs but I have no idea why she’d be getting both or why she’s saying it like that or what pantuflotas is supposed to mean exactly. Hum meanwhile is left sitting on the bed, just as confused as I, but for different reasons. He look like he’s somewhere between “eh, whatever” and “ooh! Nookie!”

Next morning – Renato’s stopped by to say bye to Aldonza before heading back to DF. She wants him to set a price so she can pay him, but he insists that he won’t charge her before he’s actually done the work. She reminds him to keep it between them and he’s happy to share a secret. She holds out her hand to shake on it, but he uses it to pull her in for a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She says he’s a good friend and he heads out. Again, I can only shake my head at this impending tragedy.

Dominga has brought Cris some juice. He says she shouldn’t have gone to the trouble of bringing it up, but she wants to spoil him now because once he’s married, his wife probably won’t let her get anywhere near him. Cris sighs heavily and thinks about his future wife. Dominga asks what’s wrong and he asks, rhetorically, why everyone’s got it out for Aldonza. He fills her in on how Val insulted Aldonza horribly last night. Dom says Aldie can handle herself, but Cris argues that doesn’t give others the right to treat her like crap. He gets why PadrJ warned him away before, because he probably thought Cris would hurt her too, which he would never do because he-He stops himself. Dom advises him not to fight against his own feelings and leaves his with that.

Aldonza’s at the bank, getting the account stuff. Uriel’s had the account switched over, set up her debit card and added a credit card application, if she’s interested. He plugs some savings options or something and lets her know that she can use her money immediately is she wants.

Sev is waiting for Hum when he gets to the office. He wants the keys to the Santuario house but won’t tell Hum why. Hum tells him he rented the house to Aldonza before he and Sev spoke. Sev is about to go nuclear, but a patient has arrived for Hum. Sev warns Hum that he’s on thin ice. Hum doesn’t know why Sev wants the house, but he reminds him that back when Rob lives there, Sev had lots of problems at that house…Sev shushes him, tells him they aren’t done with this yet and menacingly notes that they’ll see about the Santuario house situation.

Val goes to see Cande, who criticizes her again for causing a scene. She has to learn to control herself. Val says she was afraid the whole relationship was at an end, but Cande won’t hear of it. Cande advises her on the ice queen version of if you can’t “beat them, join them” approach, which is a little more Sun Tzu/Machiavelli: if you can’t defeat them, make them your allies).

Cris is waiting for Aldie in her living room when she gets back from the bank. He wants to apologize for last night. Aldie says that in this situation, Val was right. If the situation were flipped, he would’ve been upset, right? He says that if you trust someone, you don’t need to be upset. Aldonza notes that he and Val are not on the same wavelength on that score. Aldonza is saying that she doesn’t want problems with anyone and doesn’t want to cause him problems either so when he sees her in the street, he shouldn’t even say hello. Cris is barely registering this because his entire focus is on her lips, not her words. He’s being pulled in like a magnet, and despite her words, Aldonza is not getting out of his way. He goes in for the kiss and they’re both saved by the doorbell. It’s a flower delivery for Aldonza. Cris wants to know who they’re from, but Aldie points out that it’s none of his business. Cris says she’s right, and she was also right, that they shouldn’t even say hello in the street. He leaves and she reads the card. The flowers are from an admirer. She wonders if it’s Renato.

Abelardo gets a phone call and rushes out.

Irma, now at the store with Lola, is still looking for the money. Lola saw her put it in her purse so it’s gotta be at the house because it’s not in the store. Irma has another theory, but is interrupted by Adelina who has come in for a zipper. They share a cute moment of laughter.

Cande is getting Dominga on board for the engagement party dinner. Dominga laughs at her because it seems obvious to her that Cande’s only having this party to make it harder to Cris to break the engagement. Cande’s just fighting for Cris’s happiness. Dominga thinks Cris should decide what makes him happy. Cande tries to change the subject to the pots hanging over the kitchen island that Dom’s supposed to get rid of, but Dom will not be distracted. Dominga reminds Cande that she’s not just another employee and she worries about Cande and Cris like family.  Cande can’t deal and bails.

Val visits Aldonza. She apologizes and says she feels like an idiot now. Aldonza doesn’t believe a word of it, and Val says she understands and would probably feel the same in her shoes, but she’d like to make it up to Aldie by inviting her to the engagement party. I should note, Val’s playing this like she’s sincere, no real sneer or anything, so Aldie gets extra points for knowing her enemy.

Lardo’s call was from Sev. He’s waiting for Sev in his office when Cris comes in. They circle each other and snap like two dogs, sniffing for a fight. Lardo tells Cris that Cris can’t touch him now or everyone really will believe Lardo’s story, so now Lardo is untouchable. This doesn’t stop Cris from grabbing the punk and almost hoisting him off of his feet. Sev comes in and wants to know what’s up. Cris reminds Sev that if Lardo stays, Cris goes. Sev says they’ll talk about it later, but Cris is unintimidated by his father. He repeats his position and the slimeballs to their one on one.

Aldonza doesn’t buy the invitation at all, no matter how Val insists, even when she says that E and Lola will be there. Aldonza has no business at her engagement party, but Val keeps the invitation open. She goes in to kiss Aldonza good-bye on the cheek, but unlike with Ren, Aldonza’s firm on ending this with a handshake. They part just as Adelina comes home. She shares Aldie’s skepticism about the visit.

Cris and E are training horses while Cris unloads about Lardo and Sev. They don’t think Sev will let Lardo back after what he did to E, but E points out that Sev doesn’t care about him, so who knows what he’ll do. Cris tells him not to feel bad because he doesn’t care about Cris’s opinion on this either. Cris clearly stated his opinion, and Sev didn’t give a hoot. Cris says he wanted to stay until after the wedding, but he thinks he really will have to leave now because of the Lardo situation.

Sev has paid off Lardo’s gambling debt. In return, he wants Lardo to be his flunkey. Lardo’s 100% on board.

Hot diggety!! Recap!

"whore vocab alert!"

Ha ha!! Thanks for making this educational!

Now back to reading...

I should point out here that Pru ...taken off his shoes and she is literally kissing his feet.

hellashelle-let me tell you about the RPC (recapper's privilege card.) Some scenes are too stupid or too gross to recap in great detail. Use it sparingly, but feel free to use it. I totally would have used it for the feet kissing. You are a real trooper.

“pantuflotas y pijamota” which sounds like pants and pjs but I have no idea why she’d be getting both or why she’s saying it like that or what pantuflotas is supposed to mean exactly.

pantuflas=slippers
pijama=pjs
-ota suffix implies something is big or large.

Now about those flowers...

I totally think it's Stalky Sev and he's trying to creep out Aldonza.

...hmmm. But maybe he would have straight up signed his name...

Hey, hellashelle, great work on the recap. So many insights and funny takes on situations. Thank you very much.

Wow, both Pru and Vale did superficial personality flips to get what they want. Can't wait to see how that works out.

So sad to hear Em say that Sev doesn't really care about him, so. . .

The best advice around the house is from Dominga, both to Cande and Cris. Of course, we wouldn't have a tn if people made intelligent choices, but I can never get over a parent trying to force their child to be happy by being with someone they clearly are not destined for.

Uh-oh. Is Sev going to sic Lardo on Aldonza? Hope Cris is there and administers a righteous beat down.

David

HellaShelle, strong, savvy and savory. Delicious details were abundant.

"Aldonza has just shared her secret recipe for frying monsters in hell aka her big plans, I already feel for his poor, broken heart" and "He looks like he’s somewhere between “eh, whatever” and “ooh! Nookie!” were among my favorites.

I echo Sara's witty "thanks for making this educational!"

I do not know how Pru managed to kiss Humberto's foot. I give Cynthia much credit, she is a consummate actress.

I like Aldonza more with each passing episode. She always carried a seed of her mother's determination and spirit. This is germinating, being nurtured by unconditional love from Adelina and the good padre. She refuses to be cowed and meets each insult, each slight and each atrocity with courage and conviction.

It was rather sickening that Valeria did indeed seem to extend a (poisoned) olive branch with such convincing sincerity. While I hope Aldonza never loses her ability to trust, I pray that she does not start here.

HellaShelle, you are so right in that Cris was mesmerized by Aldonza. She has bewitched him to the point that his relationship with Valeria is totally unraveling.

Lardo is now Sev's evil errand boy. This does not bode well for anyone. I feel so much for his parents who don't deserve the havoc he is sure to cause.

It was heartbreaking that Aldonza and Adelina had the argument. Nothing is going to dissuade Aldonza so I think Adelina must tell her the truth which is a far better course of action that tearing their relationship apart.

What is Sev's next evil plan? I await with a mixture of curiosity and dread.

Diana

Most awesome, HellaShelle

"They circle each other and snap like two dogs, sniffing for a fight"

I understand why Ren would hang in there believing Aldonza will relent, her words say no, yet her behavior says otherwise.

It bothers me, Aldonza treats Cris like he is some beast, to be avoided.

Humberto - never knew you were in to toe sucking

Renato - just kill me now, got fed and a pat on the head

Val - come on, please come, we'll have free booze and a slut shaming

Emmanuel - ok, I'll admit, I licked the roof

Pru - withholding sex should work in theory but in practice.....

Severiano - no key, then, I'll have to huff and puff and blow the house down

Adelina - sacrifice fly

Cris - oops, found them, they're in my pocket

Diana-I'm right there with you. The longer Adelina (and the Padre really) conceal the truth, the harder it will be on Aldonza. I hope it doesn't do irreparable damage to the relationship.

tofie, your Humberto entry made me queasy all over again. LOL. Also, I can't look at 'Lardo anymore without seeing a monitor lizard. He really is the spitting image.

Gracias, HellaShelle! Excellent recap!

"Aldonza has just shared her secret recipe for frying monsters in hell aka her big plans, but we were not privy to it." So frustrating! Though I do find it comforting that there *is* a plan. I just want to know what it is already!

"Cris is tired of fighting. He feels like everyone got together to ruin his day today. " Well, yeah, sort of.

"whore vocab alert! I’m adding Buscona to the list" Woo hoo! From the verb buscar, "to look for"...as in she keeps coming around looking for my man, or she keeps coming around looking for a little something something.

“pantuflotas y pijamota” pantuflas + otas, pijamas + otas. Usually I hear "-otas" as "big 'ol", but she's trying to make saying "I'll bring your slippers and pajamas" cutesy. (In other words, what Sara said.)

"Cande advises her on the ice queen version of if you can’t “beat them, join them” approach, which is a little more Sun Tzu/Machiavelli: if you can’t defeat them, make them your allies." This seems a little weak...and misguided...and just plain unrealistic, given Val's inability to control herself. Maybe she needs to back it up and start with some meditation skills or something before she tries to bring in the advanced lessons.

"He goes in for the kiss and they’re both saved by the doorbell." AAAAAARGH! Stupid flowers! Well, ok, no, they were lovely flowers. Santa Lucia has a lot of lovely flowers. But I want my smoochies!

It was nice to see Irma being so welcoming to Adelina. Even if she is the only one. If Adelina's going to get back to sewing, Irma's just the right person to have on her side.

"Cris reminds Sev that if Lardo stays, Cris goes." What the hell, dude! You said it, now follow through! No discussion! Where's his freakin' spine?!

"She goes in to kiss Aldonza good-bye on the cheek, but unlike with Ren, Aldonza’s firm on ending this with a handshake." Ahhhhhh, such a good moment!

Soooo with you Diva. I felt VERY cheated and smoochie deprived last night.

Hi all,

I wanted to get the recap out earlier, but it's been a hurried day.

I was thinking it was Abelardo for the flowers as part of Val's plan. Now with Sev as his boss, prob putting him on the same mission, he'll be happier than a pig in mud (my apologies to pigs everywhere for the comparison).

Hum had good advice too. If Val wasn't already cheating on Cris and he didn't have feelings for someone else, their relationship would benefit from such advice.

Love Aldonza's cool head in the face of foolishness. She's a class act, but she's no fool. I like her self-confidence, though I'm not sure she's reading Renato as well as she should, she's been completely upfront with him and as clear as can be about her feelings, so I don't blame her for that.

I could see the flowers being part of Abelardo's plan to "seduce" Aldonza...but how stupid is he?! I'm pretty sure "guy who attempted to rape you" is on every woman's unspoken "Do Not Date" list.

Aldonza's lips being magnets was an apt description...he was just being pulled in...and then smoochus interruptus :(

The Lardo flower hypothesis makes more sense. I just jump to Sev out of habit.

Well, I'm certainly not going to tell you it's unfair to blame Sev when he might not have actually done it this time. I'm ok with blaming Sev for pretty much everything.

"smoochus interruptus" just made my day.

It's bothering me a little that Aldonza is so buddy/buddy with Renato now, knowing how he feels and pulling him up to his neck in this, even with her disclaimer. She knew all she had to do is make a call. We'll see if she refuses his legal help if he continues to insist on no compensation. If she does, the girl is straight up, if she lets it slide, she is encouraging the guy for her benefit.

tofie-I see your point. I am going to assume that Aldonza is oblivious to what she's doing...but you know in real life no girl who is acting like this is oblivious. In real life she is using the guy.

The Aldonza/Renato situation makes me very nervous.

I give Aldonza all kinds of props for having the smarts and courage to have a go at Severiano so inclined to believe she is aware. She even has these sly grins when Adelina has picked at her about Renato, but perhaps I read too much into what may just be a little gas.

Renato's playing his part as well..."Oh, gosh, golly gee, I wouldn't know what to charge!" Yes, yes you would, dude.

Of course he knows and it ain't coin.

Consciously or subconsciously? Because I'm pretty sure in his mind, he's thinking "win her over with my awesome lawyer skills and make her see what a great catch I am" not "trade sex for favors."

tofie, still laughing at
"Emmanuel - ok, I'll admit, I licked the roof".

Kat, you reminded me of the nice scene where someone is actually happy to see Adelina. It seems she and Irma both need a friend, especially Irma once Lardo breaks her heart. Gracias.

Diana

Maybe down the road we are going to have a "who is she going to choose" situation...but for now, I see warm and fuzzy with Renato and smokin' hot chemistry with Cris.

Not sex for favors, and don't think he would disrespect her like that. She has brought him into her complete confidence and while she insist they separate the professional and personal relationship it has not been done. I get how he is encouraged by the new developments.

Diana- Pobre Irma. I don't know what it's going to take to open her eyes to the truth.

tofie- whose fault is that, though? If she's saying "Ain't gonna happen," and treating him like a friend, but he keeps that hope alive that she'll change her mind?

I see trust, confidence and youthful friendly attraction in Renato & Aldonza and goddamn ain't there a door in the corner of this hamster cage to flee that gigantic hand, when Cris shows up.

All I know is I have been blamed plenty for leading a boy on and not knowing how much plainer I could have made it.. Boy with a crush can read most anything into a hello much less a come be my superhero partner.

That's his problem, not hers! I think it doesn't help that historically we've never seen this situation end well. I don't know whether to expect that he'll pine for a bit and then gracefully move on to someone who's actually interested or "if I can't have her, no one can!"

I finally resorted to a scorched earth policy, that settles things on the front end, so obviously projecting onto Aldonza, what she should do to avoid unnecessary butthurt. Perhaps it is a cultural thing (traditional asian moms, whew) but to walk arm and arm down the street with a male "friend" didn't happen.

Great--Great 5ft. Loved it. As the wedding moves closer, the story is getting very interesting.
It's either Lardo or me!

Cris and Val have been fighting a lot.

Cande is only doing what is best for him. Well thank you Cande.

Sever going ballistic over the rental.

Aldonza yelling at Sever with ax in hand.

8 hours to go until Pasado #32

I have a lot to say, I hope that I'm not boring with many questions and observations.

First an observation. I know that Roberta left Aldonza some money to live on but---Have you guys noticed that house or apartment? It's solid middle class, and nicely furnished with all the trimmings. I don't know how much money Adelina has but these two are living well for two people out of work. Where did all that stuff come from? Was it in storage, was the apartment furnished when they moved in or were all those things newly purchased? Just wondering.

In the opening credits don't we see Mary with Renato? She's messing up his hair and smiling while they are sitting together somewhere on a bench.

The flowers were beautiful. I liked the color. Does anyone know what they were? At first I thought tulips but would have to look again.

Who dresses Sever? Pants and shirt
ok maybe you can do that with one hand but an ascot? Does Cande dress him?

I can't get over Cande saying to fumigate the room after Emanuel left. Surely she meant change the sheets right?

Wow! I had the blogger page up after the recap post, posted my comment before I saw the others and immediately went into a meeting and came back to all these comments!

Thanks to all for the thumbs ups! And thanks again for explaining the slippers/pjs thing. I scratched my head on that for like a full five minutes and then just figured I'd ask the experts:)

It didn't occur to me until last night that she called Renato because she doesn't think she can just hire any lawyer for this mission. She needs someone she can trust with her personal feelings. I hope the lack of love doesn't ruin that and he keeps the professional aspect no matter the heart-burn later.

Yes to the Cris/Aldonza moments of last night. I complained early on that I was missing the love, but last night gave me a great burst. I dug their moment in the park where Cris's urge to hug/help was so strong and obvious and I was so into his magnetic attraction. I know it's wrong, cuz he's usually a pretty stand up guy and he has a fiancee, but he played it just right. He looked exactly how I would want a galan to look on the physical side of things, like he just can't fight that feeling anymore.

tofie, cultural norms might play a part, yes. For some people, even that whole kissing/hugging as a typical greeting is waaaaaaaaay too much physical contact! And where I'm from, you don't even have to know the person--you could be getting introduced for the first time and a a hug and a kiss on the cheek is totally acceptable.

gringo, this one was all HellaShelle, not me!

The place Aldonza and Adelina are living now is the parish house, aka, Padre J's swinging bachelor pad. Hence the nice furnishings. It's not the Ritz, but the town isn't going to let its priest live in a hovel.

HellaShelle, I'm cautious about her trusting anyone who lives in town for anything related to anything. Like, don't even get your hair cut there, 'cause if the stylist wants to please Cande she'll screw up your cut.

I get that and you just go with it, had to deal with the whole culture clash. Remember the first time it dawned on my mother a guy on the cheerleading squad in highschool had his hand firmly on my tiny pantied butt. It's the knowing the guy wants her that makes the difference.

Diva---You read my comment. look on the posts---IT'S GONE, VANISHED
POOOF. My comment from Hasta vanished yesterday. I've been cursed.

gringo, I don't know what that's about. Blogger's description of what it considers spam is so vague as to be not at all useful. Here's the original comment

I think I'm ok with Renato having feelings for Aldonza and them being friends. The touchy-feely-ness...I'm not so sure. Arm-in-arm is at least less...intimate?...than holding hands. Somewhere, there is a line that if he crosses it means that she needs to cut off all contact. I'm not sure where that is, just that he hasn't crossed it yet. As long as they keep portraying this as him not putting any pressure on her and her not being uncomfortable with it, I'll probably be ok with it. Just nervous that he could go bad at any second.

"Yes to the Cris/Aldonza moments of last night. I complained early on that I was missing the love, but last night gave me a great burst."

Yes. It was nice to see the love lasts night. I needed to be reminded that the chemistry/attraction is still there.

Diva---When I post I post under name/URL in the box goes gringo
then prove you're not a robot and last I hit enter. I have done this for at least a couple of years now. It has always worked before. What is open ID?

Sorry HellaShelle, I saw posted by 5ft. and thought the recap was hers. Perdone.

Gringo - no offensive taken :) To respond to some of your questions:

I thought the bench moment with Mary was her and her brother, in a frame, held by their parents, who are kissing.

The flowers look like roses to me, yellow with red tips (fitting for a friend who wants to be more, now that I think about it...)

I have wondered about that ascot! I figured some random maid does it. Or even Melesio, during his morning report to the king.

Cande's...got problems.

It looks like OpenID means you can sign in with a different kind of account (not Blogger, not Google) if you have one. The only one I recognize is WordPress (the W).

I don't think the login has anything to do with it, but I don't know what does. The spam filter is notoriously stupid.

Thank you HellaShelle for the recap!
You nailed it with ”He look like he’s somewhere between “eh, whatever” and “ooh! Nookie!””
LOL!

"whore vocab alert!"
More LOLz!

Sara - I think ‘Lardo sent the flowers to Aldonza. Didn’t Val want him to put the make on her? Lardo IS stupid enough to think he can still "woo" her.

Diva – Maybe Sev has a clip-on ascot? (anyone old enough to remember clip-on ties?)

Hellashelle, late to the party but want to thank you for serving up this juicy recap, salted and spiced to perfection!

With my limited time I must weigh in on the foot thing. It was an "ewwww..." moment and I kept wondering if the actor had a special foot wipe-down right before that scene.

Re: Aldonza's tiff with Adelina over the ashes: to me the wishes of the daughter would naturally prevail when it comes to burial decisions. Just saying.

Must run, must see TV (nods to Gringo).

Thanks, hellashelle.

Cris has it bad for AL. He once again kept moving toward her last night. However, AL did not back away as people usually do when they do not want their personal space invaded.

I think the secret admirer was Lardo beginning his mission to seduce AL...as if !!! Of course, either Sev or Vile paid the bill.

tofie...I liked Eman's confession about licking that roof. Teehee

Whenever Vile has one of her trademark hissyfits, I keep thinking that Pru never gave her the advice my mother gave me...''You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.'' It's as if she just cannot keep her temper and spoiled nature under control to keep Cris hogtied long enough to get him to the altar..after which she could let down her guard and let out her true, harpy self.We all know that there's nothing a guy likes more than being yelled at up close and personal. Dumb bunny.

Thanks Hellashelle. I agree with Sara about the RPC. I've used it to blow past some very boring, annoying, and idiotic stuff. But I think I would have mentioned the feet kissing thing because it's odd and gross.

I can't imagine that Aldonza will actually pass on attending the party. Too much good storyline would get passed up if she missed it.

Lol. I would mention it to, but I'd be like "feet kissing. R to the P to the C."

:)

About the feet thing....I like cracking my boyfriends toes, does that make me a weirdo?

Hellashell, thanks for the awesome recap, this is the only way I can keep up with the episodes, curse my non-cable having life!

Well it wasn't the foot kissing per se. It's just that it was Humberto's feet.

Ummm...as long as his toes stay attached, I'm sure it's fine :p

What about the "actor" angle? Would you rather have to kiss somebody's potentially-stinky foot OR have to fake sex on camera? Inquiring minds....

Oh yes, we have not lost any toes to my ummm hobby?

I'd rather fake sex than deal with smelly toes!

Definitely fake sex unless it's with someone I don't like. But I wouldn't want to kiss the feet of someone I don't like either.

I'm torn...smelly toes would be over with quicker, but in some ways that's way more intimate than fake sex. I mean the fake sex is fake, but the foot kissing is real...there's a foot, there's a kiss. I'm just going to hope I never end up in that situation.

I was a little squicked out by the whole fresh out of the shoe part of it.

Hahaha...smelly, sweaty feet :p

You can always "imply" foot-kissing without actually doing it or showing it on screen. That was just gross.

I bet Pru thinks that because he stayed in their bedroom and they bumped uglies that she's somehow "won." Wait until she finds out that he already rented the property to "esa tipa!"

Put me down for fake sex. I have never understood foot fetishes even though I have pretty cute little feet.

Wacky hypothesis...there was some kind of bet involved, like maybe the crew didn't think Cynthia would actually do it and it earned her a case of high-quality booze...or they'd rehearsed it faked because whatshisface really didn't even want anybody touching his foot, much less kissing it, so she did it on purpose to gross him out.

Both of those sound so plausible knowing that you know how things operate "offstage" .

There was probably a hell of a lot of teasing and trash talking going on at the very least. With kissing, there's always breath spray, but foot spray probably isn't something you want to get anywhere near your mouth. I'd vote for a nice edible lotion made of peppermint and coconut oil.

No, I haven't given this a lot of thought. Why do you ask?

Doesn't it depend on who you're having fake sex with?

lol...that's a whole other "Would you rather?"

my significant other has very nice feet and totally non-smelly, which is surprising considering that 99% of his socks have giant holes in them. Last year for his birthday I got him a bottle of Don Julio 42-this year he gets socks!

Nothing says love like a bottle of Don Julie :D

I really did mean to type "Julio" I swear....

Oooo and I'd totally fake it with Alexis Ayala, I've had a crush on him since I was ten!

Feet-breeze, perhaps?

J in O

Hahahahaha!

Good one, J! Definitely a product to add to the gift shop :D

LMAO! Yes, add it!

Wow...this conversation got so weird while I was away.

I love you guys :)

Do you love us enough to kiss outer feet?

Just keeding.

OUR feet. Damn autocorrect screwing up my joke.
