La Sombra del Pasado #48 - Thu 4/23 - A lot of waiting
Pru succumbs to the temptation of her pretty phone…will she call Tomas, a.k.a. Papi Chulo?
Silvia goes somewhere that's not her house, but that's ok, Lardo has his new BFF the skeevy cab driver to hang out with him and wait for her to leave again. Thanks, Skeevy Cab Driver!
Silvia is at Renato's house, telling his dad that Renato is close to losing his job because of his trips to Santa Lucia. If he doesn't come into the office tomorrow….
Pru goes for the classic "Call your young studmuffin and then sob about how your husband hates you" ploy. She invited him over to be her shoulder to cry on, but he's interested in more than just a shoulder. And when faced with the possibility of an evening alone, Pru jumps him instead of letting him leave.
Silvia leaves Renato's with her tail firmly in place. [Meaning Lardo and Skeevy Cab Driver...that made a lot more sense in my head!]
Candela notices Dominga's mood, but before Dominga can ask about Simoneta, Severiano sits down to dinner…AND the phone rings. Candela still thinks Cris is out with Valeria and they're going to get back together soon. But, no…he's on the phone to report Padre J's "accident." Severiano is furious that Cande is ready to go running to Padre J's side. Sorry Sev. He may wear a collar and be consecrated to God, but Padre J's still got it going on.
Humberto tells the secret bros (Em and Cris) that he doesn't know if Padre J is going to make it or not. They don't know how the accident happened.
Meanwhile at the movie theater…looks like Val has finally realized she's been stood up. She angrily rips up her tickets and stomps out
Adelina and Aldonza show up and it takes Cris' arms to bring her down from her panicky state. He assures her that Padre J is strong and God is great and he'll be fine. But she needs another hug. Even Adelina offers her one. I'm guessing that's just not the same.
Silvia finally makes it home. Lardo congratulates himself on having found out where she lives.
Candela makes it to the clinic and starts asking what happened. She's freaking out only slightly less than Aldonza was. She's demanding that Cris tell her that her old flame won't be snuffed out.
Uriel is upset at the loss of the money and, despite what he said to Paty at the bank, he actually does trust her and the cashier. He tells Irma that it's his responsibility to replace the missing money. I forgive him now for what he said to Paty…but I'd still like him to apologize to her. Irma remembers the missing money for her suppliers and…may God forgive her…she wondered if maybe Lardo took it. Uriel says this is going to sound bad, but…Lardo was there when Paty gave him the money. Could light bulbs be in our future?
Lardo heads back to Renato's and pretends to be looking for the Garces family home…so the maid can tell him that this is the Ballesteros place. There's a handy safety tip for you--if it's not the house someone's looking for, either in person or by phone, don't tell them whose house it IS! Lardo calls Sev to report that he now knows where both Silvia and Renato live and he's sure that Silvia and Renato have a relationship.
After the call with Lardo, on his cell phone…he takes a call from Simoneta, on the house phone. She tries to sweet talk him into coming over for a visit, but he begs off, due to the recent accident of his dear friend Padre J. He needs to wait by the phone tonight, but he'll see her tomorrow…uh, tomorrow, he'll have those stud horses at her ranch. He makes the call sound like "business" because Dominga interrupts him. In response to her asking if there's any news about Padre J, he says a bunch of rude stuff, including that everyone would already know about it if he'd died and he doesn't know why everybody cares so much anyway. He goes off to bed and Dominga gazes at his desk.
Pru and Tomas are mid-snog when they progress to an argument about whether they should move on to shagging…and the slamming of Val's car door is heard outside. She sends him to hide…up in her room! And then greets Val and tells her about Padre J's "accident."
Meanwhile, Tomas makes himself comfortable upstairs.
Val notices how, uh, hot the couch feels. Pru sends her upstairs to rest after her disappointing evening. She goes into her room, interrupting Tomas in the act of checking out a watch in Humberto's nightstand, to gesture that it's time for him to sneak out now.
Padre J has a thorax bruise and a couple of broken ribs. He also has a collapsed lung. He's in Intensive Care, in a coma. Anything can happen, but Humberto thinks he'll be fine--they just can't guarantee anything until he regains consciousness. As Candela cries, Aldonza watches her, seething. "Severiano Mendoza is the one responsible! And this time he WILL pay for what he's done." Candela and Cris just stare at her.
Tomas wants to continue snogging back downstairs and refuses to leave without another kiss. Pru gives him one and gets him out the door just as Val comes downstairs. She blames her nervousness on Padre J's "accident."
Cande finally tells Aldonza that she's crazy. Aldonza tells Cande that Sev threatened Padre J earlier today. "But that doesn't mean he's responsible," responds Cris. Aldonza begs him to open his eyes and sees his father for what he really is--a criminal who should be rotting behind bars. She tells Cande that after all these years of living together, she should know damn well what Sev is like. Cris, with his limited info, and completely IGNORING the part where she says Sev THREATENED both Padre J and Aldonza, tells her she can't go around saying Sev done it without proof. Even Emmanuel backs him up. Aldonza says this was retaliation for suing Sev. "There are no coincidences in this town! Everything happens by Severiano's will!" Cris tells her, if she's so sure, go tell it to the law. Oh, you mean the law that should be checking out the truck? And finding that the brake lines were cut? And considering Sev a suspect because he made verbal threats? And because he's being sued by a family member of the Padre's? But who won't because they're incompetent? Yep, those are the cops Aldonza's going to go tell. Greeeeeat. Humberto busts up the argument because "this is a hospital, not the town plaza!" Aldonza tells Cande and Cris to leave and pulls rank, as Padre J's only family member. She gets to decide who sees him and who doesn't. Humberto says there's nothing for them to do there and they ought to go home. Cande can't do anything but agree. Once Cande and Cris are gone, Aldonza breaks down again and needs Em's comforting arms.
Outside the hospital, Cande curses Aldonza for being SO presumptuous as to kick them out! Cris, with his customary reasonableness, says she had every right. She's his family member. Cris asks Cande if she thinks that Severiano really could have had something to do with it. Of course, Cande plays the "How dare you believe that girl!" card. And Cris fails to recall some of the things his father HAS done that he both knows about and thought he would NEVER do. And believes his mother. Because he's Cris. And that's how he rolls. He sends her home with Mel and says he's going to stay and talk to Humberto some more…because he's worried about what Humberto said about the Padre's condition. Cande, of course, thinks he's going back to talk to Aldonza. He promises to stay outside and keep her informed and walks her to where Melesio is parked.
Aldonza and Adelina refuse to leave before the Padre wakes up. Aldonza tries to talk to Humberto about her earlier allegations about Severiano. She says he's in it, whether he wants to be or not, because the rent/contract/pasture dispute is the reason this happened. Humberto refuses to talk about it right now. He's here as a doctor. There will be time for that later. Emmanuel tries to stay at the hospital with them, but both Adelina and Humberto talk him out of it. Aldonza might get to go in and see Padre J in a couple of hours, but for now, Humberto and Emmanuel are heading home.
They run into Cris outside, where Humberto reports that there's no news. He suggests they all go home and he'll come back in the morning, unless he gets a call before then. Cris asks Humberto to please give his apologies to Val for standing her up. Humberto is a little surprised to hear they had a date, but agrees to pass on the message. And everyone heads back to their respective vehicles to head home.
This was all apparently happening close to morning, because when Candela comes into Sev's room to confront him, she's wearing the same outfit and Sev laughs at her for being out all night. "Maybe you've got a lover, too?" Cande slaps him. She confronts him about what happened to Padre J. Sev says Aldonza's crazy. "If I find out you had anything to do with this, I'll make sure you go to jail for it!" Sev laughs and asks what they think he did. "I don't know, but if he dies, I'll never forgive you." Sev grabs her arm and asks her why she cares what happens to "that priest." Cande shrugs it, and him, off, and says he's been her friend her whole life--something she doesn't figure Sev can understand.
Aldonza and Adelina are still in the hospital waiting room. Aldonza wonders what will happen if her uncle dies. Adelina says that won't happen--he's strong and he'll be fine. "That's what I thought about my mother. That she'd live for years." Adelina says that was different and Roberta got sick because of her own stubbornness and refusing to give up cigarettes. What happened to Padre J was an accident. Aldonza contradicts her and swears she'll make Sev pay. A nurse interrupts her tirade to say she'll be back in a few minutes to take her to see her uncle.
Lardo wakes in his hotel room and pretends, for his dad's benefit, that he's been up for hours. Working. Like he does. Uriel chooses to confront his overgrown child about the missing money now, over the phone, where he can't look the little turd in the eyes and see that he's a big lying liar. Lardo is offended at the very question! Why, he left money there for Don Sev's deposit! Uriel says he has a reputation. And there was a stack of cash there at the same time he was. Coincidence? Lardo whines about how much it hurts that no matter what he does nobody ever trusts him. He tells Uriel he doesn't care how much money was taken--just let him know and he can pay it back with what he's "earning" with his "job." He hangs up and Uriel looks confused.
Aldonza gets to don a cap and a mask to visit the Padre, but only for five minutes, the nurse reminds her. She immediately takes off the mask so she can cry over her uncle. (Meta complaint--why have your actors wear a mask for scenes like this when you're only going to direct them to take the mask off anyway? I'm pretty sure I'm not meant to think that having the mask covering the front of her neck is serving any medical purpose.)
Cande hasn't even bothered going to bed. She starts praying and tells God that if Padre J dies, she's going with him. Is that a threat or a promise?
Renato and Pato show up at work, much to Silvia's relief. Big Boss Lawyer is at a hearing, but will be back soon for the partners' meeting. Before they can talk much, Aldonza calls Renato to tell him about the "accident." She says she's sure Sev did it. Renato tells her to calm down and not do anything stupid. As soon as he finishes stuff up at the office, he'll head right back to Santa Lucia. Drink! Aldonza says she's caused him enough problems. (Drink!) He tells her everything will be fine and he'll call her later. "Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you."
Humberto tells a reposing Pru about the Padre's delicate condition. She removes her gel eye mask and says she's been praying for the repose of Padre's soul…not that he's even dead yet, as Humberto reminds her…but, hey, just in case. 'Cause he sounds pretty bad off to her. He randomly decides to wear the watch Tomas was eyeing yesterday. Well, guess what? It's gone. Pru's not even playing clueless about his special anniversary watch being missing. I notice a random detail--Pru's robe is being held together over her chest by a safety pin. Come on, costume department--you can do better than that. Pru doesn't know where the watch could have gotten to, but goes to look around in her dressing table for it. Humberto is pissed--this is the second thing that has gone missing lately. First the Casa de Caramelos and now his watch!
Tomas is trying to pawn it, but the guy says he can't give him much. It IS a really great watch, but…before the guy can explain, Tomas spins a BS story about his sick mom needing some medicine. Watch guy is unmoved. This is a take-it-or-leave-it offer. Tomas takes it.
Lardo reports in from in front of Roberta's old apartment building. Her apartment is up for sale. Humberto realizes this means Aldonza needs money. He praises Lardo for his initiative. Lardo hangs up and calls Sev a crazy old man. Sev's evil wheels start turning.
Aldonza comes back to the waiting room, crying. She tells Adelina she's not only crying over her uncle. She's crying over the alleged love of her life turning into her greatest enemy. Adelina somehow manages to tell her niece that Cris seems like the same nice guy he always was without rolling her eyes. "But he's a Mendoza! He has his father's bad blood. Maybe he had something to do with the accident himself!" Just in case I was unclear, she's talking about CRIS. Seriously? And then, what? Thought better of it and dragged him out of his burning truck?
Cris has no appetite with all that's going on. He tells Dominga he's hurt by what Aldonza said about his family. It made him doubt himself. Dominga said that all the fighting between her and his parents was bound to make him doubt at some point. But she advises him to stay out of fights that aren't his. "She made this my fight! She keeps hurting me! Where's the love she said she had for me?!" Dominga says the love is still there, but those two stubborn kids are too determined to hurt each other. Cris thinks maybe his parents were right. She was just using him to get his family's money and lands. Dominga shuts him right the hell down about that. "That's as offensive to her as it's been to you to have her accuse you of things that aren't true." She tells him to quit thinking. (Mr. 5ft: "When did he start?) Maybe Aldonza has made mistakes and hurt him, but she loves him as much as he loves her and he should never forget that.
Adelina tells Aldonza Cris could NEVER do what she's suggesting. Aldonza doesn't know what to think anymore. "I told you we shouldn't have come back here!" Aldonza said she had to do it. She had to confront her past or she would never be happy. "And are you?" Well, no. But she swears she will be one day. The day she makes Sev pay for everything he's done to their family--including what happened to Padre J. Adelina doesn't know how Aldonza is going to accomplish that. Well, Aldonza has to admit that Sev and Cande have the upper hand. They've even made her doubt the love of her life. Adelina, even though she herself has tried to tell Aldonza to get over Cris, has to admit that he's a great guy. His only sin is being the son of two horrid people. Aldonza would like to believe that, but now that they've started fighting with each other…the poison is going to her head. Adelina tells her to trust her heart. She hates to admit it, but Cris loves her as much as she loves him.
Big Boss Lawyer comes into Renato's office braying about him taking on cases outside the office, neglecting his work, not being in the office during office hours, and misusing company resources--including Pato and Silvia's labor. Renato tries to say it's just one case, as a favor to a friend, for which he's not charging her. Doesn't matter, and that's no excuse. Big Boss Lawyer wants Renato's letter of resignation on his desk today.

I'm a little frustrated with all the talk about this great luuuuuuuuuurve between Aldonza and Cris. Don't tell me...show me!
Also frustrated with Cris' tendency to be easily diverted from his questions by non-answers. And really, why does he care if his mom thinks it's possible--what does HE think? Does he not have any opinions of his own?
I hope cab drivers don't actually help dudes follow women around like that. There wasn't even any pretense that Lardo knew her and was just trying to catch up to her. It was clear from the beginning that he was following her for nefarious reasons.
"Silvia leaves Renao's with her tail firmly in place." I had to read that several times to get what you meant.
I loved Val getting accidently stood up and her reaction. Couldn't have called Cris to find out what was going on? No, just rip up the tickets and stomp out of the theater.
"Val notices how hot the couch feels." Wow, that must have been a really exothermic encounter.
Both Cande and Cris vehemently deny that Sev could have anything to do with PJ's accident, then both go home and confront Sev about it. Something is nagging at them in the back of their minds!
5ft, I so agree with you about visitors wearing masks in ICUs. You might do that in a burn unit, but for broken ribs?
Thanks again 5ft. Enjoyed this a lot.
David
And when faced with the possibility of an evening alone, Pru jumps him instead of letting him leave.
Pru, Pru, Pru! What an idiot and a loss cause. To bring this useless p.o.s. into your home and flop around on the couch with him, even letting him into your most intimate space . . .your bedroom. I'm glad he stole from you and that's not the only thing you're going to lose to him. I have NO respect for you whatsoever!
He may wear a collar and be consecrated to God, but Padre J's still got it going on. And Sev grabs her arm and asks her why she cares what happens to "that priest."
Sev truly looks dumbfounded that there could be any other desireable man on earth besides himself or that Cande could ever long for other ARMS to hold her!
Adelina and Aldonza show up and it takes Cris' arms to bring her down from her panicky state.
Uhn Huhn. Yeah. We saw that, Aldonza, and we saw Cris in a full close-eyed swoon as he held you. You two knuckleheads!
Could light bulbs be in our future? Uriel and Irma, knuckleheads for a different reason.
"There are no coincidences in this town! Everything happens by Severiano's will!" Hmmm. Replace a couple of words and this statement could be pronounced over the pulpit.
And Cris fails to recall some of the things his father HAS done that he both knows about and thought he would NEVER do. And believes his mother.
Oh gosh, I hope this "mommy and daddy would never lie" doesn't get as bad as it did in you know what!
. .he'll head right back to Santa Lucia. Drink! Yeah, Renato, I agree with your Boss: you are not serious or focused, and you need to reorder your priorities, man. And your Aldonza sure is calling you a lot for a woman for whom no man figures in her plans right now! You've just been fired, get a clue: she is no good for you!
Lardo hangs up and calls Sev a crazy old man. Not surprised that Lardo doesn't respect Sev, just hope that when he dares to demonstrate it, it takes them both out!
She's crying over the alleged love of her life turning into her greatest enemy. Adelina somehow manages to tell her niece that Cris seems like the same nice guy he always was without rolling her eyes.
Good, because mine went right back up into my head! All Cris knows is that you suing his daddy, has now accused him of killing a Priest, your Uncle and basically accused his parents of being imps of satan! WE know they are but he doesn't!
Aldonza is acting like Lola. Did it ever occur to her to ask Cris how it came to be that HE was the one with Padre J at the hospital? I guess they're saving that so she can apologize and have another tender moment with the Crismeister!
Maybe Aldonza has made mistakes and hurt him, but she loves him as much as he loves her and he should never forget that. Uh. How do Dom and Adelina know about the depths and durability of this Great Love?
His only sin is being the son of two horrid people. . . .one of whom raped you, both of whom would gladly see you six feet under!
Oh, Lord, these people! I'm glad Padre J has survived this attempt on his life and because this sage voice of wisdom is temporarily silenced, we get the meowing and fur flying in the waiting room and blubbering in the Mendoza and Alcocer kitchens separately but simultaneously.
So, we shall see but whoever said Renato would be fired so he could relocate in SL, you may be right. Hey! What if Aldonza rents a room in the house to him, thus stoking the slut shaming fires?!
Thanks, Diva! Divine, as usual!
Ok, even if there hasn't been a lot of time to prove this great love, I for one was glad that Adelina and Dominga served as voices of reason to Al and Cris. They were both going off the deep end there, imagining the other was some evil schemer. Calm down, kiddies.
I did enjoy Al kicking Cande out of the hospital. The look on Cande's face was priceless. E-man also had a great facial reaction when Cris mentioned he was supposed to be on a date with Val.
I enjoyed both Al's longing hugs with Cris and her brotherly hug with Emanuel. Like how the writers had E-man jumping between his siblings and begging them not to fight, like a good little brother.
"Pru's robe is being held together over her chest by a safety pin"
Agree, and my first thought as Abelardo told the cab driver to follow that young woman. What, a 10 spot is all it takes to shuttle a predator?
What is Aldonza smoking or has she confused Cris and Abelardo? Switched at birth perhaps.
Agree, I'm not understanding the angst inducing love between Cris & Aldonza. Not seeing it and am looking, perhaps it's the young actors or this is another foray into tween angst.
Adelina - I don't like it but if he asks, you can go to the prom
Aldonza - and I'm sure he pulls the wings off butterflys
Sev - where the hell have you been all night, you reek of holy water, frankincense and crackers
Humberto - that was my favorite sundial
Renato - but I was here in spirit
Pru - Uh, I had Hot Pockets in my pocket
Pato - sorry dude but I got student loans to pay and no rich daddy
Cande - and please, please, when he wakes up have him ask for his pants
Frustrated, yes!!! The whole episode last night was me yelling at the TV, checking out the Cavs game to calm down, and then going back for more. What is wrong with these people??
Allie and Cris both need to be sent to their respective rooms without supper and calm the hell down. The ratcheting up accusation by Allie was just dumb. Sure she's scared and hurt, but she's slowly going off the deep end in her thinking. I did love Adelina asking if all this revenge crap was making her happy after all---and that would be a big NO. And I wanted just a bit more glimmer of self-realization besides the fact Sev is evil, that pushing for this agenda over grass and water is hurting the people she loves. When is not worth it anymore. I don't like seeing the pegs lining up just so we see Sev get his. At this point with my only blood relative (that I know about) at death's door, I would be like, hell take the stupid water, you win and leave my friends and family alone.
Of course, the first person she calls to get her off the ledge is Renato--"what would I do without you" indeed.
Yet we have everyone assuring her that she and Cris are destiny and he's soooo in love with her.
If Cris was more than her teen crush, he would be moving that light bulb in his head from 60 watts to 150 and putting some pieces together. They play these two to be soul mates or whatever stupid catch phrase they use now, and yet there is NADA in instinct between these two. Excuse me while I scrape my beanie pieces off the wall.
Loved E-man last night. Perfect playing and positioning of who he is to these two people and it made me want to cry for him.
So Severiano-in-training is working for the first time in his life even if the research is criminal. Those previews were alarming: so since he basically sideways admitted to his father he took the money, and he's a prolific liar, he will now be adding arson to his growing list of skills. What a resume he's accumulating.
On the fence with Silvia. But if Lardo and Sev hurt her to get back at Ren...trying not to go there again with another young woman being hurt for their jollies.
I say we do a petition to TN producers and tell them they can save some budget on these shows and just deep-six the "official looking" hospital masks and hair covering. It's almost laughable how fast the characters whip those masks off or down.
tofie--your whole list was beyond brilliant. But loved the "
I don't like it but if he asks, you can go to the prom".
Daisynjay
This is beginning to remind me of La Impostora and the selfish Blanca that got anyone foolish enough to help her deader than a doornail.
Daisy! Love your comment. The above is TRUTH!
Is that what she gleaned from her mom's tragic life and death: Stick it to the bad guy at ANY cost, even if that be the life, limb and sanity of yourself and those you love the most!
I guess there is truth in that since Roberta was her own worse enemy and she literally did her own self in, brought a rapist into her daughter's life and left this bitter, vengeful legacy.
Wake up, Padre J! These people need you!
Silvia goes somewhere that's not her house, but that's ok, Lardo has his new BFF the skeevy cab driver to hang out with him and wait for her to leave again. Thanks, Skeevy Cab Driver!
This is legit terrifying. Do cabbies do this?
Pru goes for the classic "Call your young studmuffin and then sob about how your husband hates you" ploy.
Oh Pru...And seriously, does she have NO friends? Or is it just the novelty of Tomas's interest in her that prompted that visit? Because he is the only one I've seen who expresses that he thinks she's great.
Could light bulbs be in our future?
(Probably not for 80 or so episodes...) Sadly, Lardo appears to have the brightest bulb. I'm surprised he had presence of mind to get as much info as he did. Unfortunately, he's smarter than he looks. He might be a better fit for the law firm than Renato, who looks like he's be a terrible defense lawyer or prosecutor and I'm still confused about whether or not he had any coverage here. Did he take time off to go to SL? Did Pato? Is he or isn't he allowed to work on cases outside of the firm, especially if it's on a volunteer basis? Basically, is the senior lawyer just pissed or has Renato really been going against the rules? And geez, no warnings, just "you're fired!"? I have a pet peeve with that, having seen a friend get sacked that way.
Though it has nothing to do with his and Aldonza's "great love," I was firmly at Cris' table last night. Aldonza looked just as crazy as Cande at that hospital. "Because of Aldonza!" became "Because of Sev!". She seriously reminded me of Rob bursting into the police station and screaming that Sev had tried to burn her farm. And Cris gave her the benefit of the doubt that Sev had threatened them - no one heard that but her. And the only reason she gets away with kicking Cande out is because of how C acted at Rob's funeral mass. Because while I get that sentiment and it's justified, you can't kick people out of the public clinic just because you hate them. You can deny her the priviledge of going in to see PJ (as the hospital prob wouold've anyway), but you don't own the clinc anymore than she does (knowing that down, actually, she might very well own the darn place).
*he'd be a terrible defense lawyer
*would've
knowing that *town
Sorry. I get excited.
So yes, Tofie, Daisynjay, Lila - yes, yes and yes.
Both Cande and Cris vehemently deny that Sev could have anything to do with PJ's accident, then both go home and confront Sev about it. Something is nagging at them in the back of their minds! Yeah, Cande knows there's every possibility Sev's behind this. Cris I think is going with the smoke/fire theory. Even if people are spouting craziness, he'll almost always try to find out if there's some good reason that crazy person is screaming.
HellaShelle! So true! And Sev used the same explanation with Cris that he used with Cande when she confronted Sev about his role in the huerto fire which risked Cris's life: "Ah, that chick is mentally ill! You gonna believe that nut!"
The parallels are disheartening!
Padre J cannot die. I'm leaving for work today hoping that Padre J makes it until I get home tonight. (Speaking of "La Impostora" reminds me how that main character's father lingered in a coma for months, finally to die without ever revealing the secret information. I hate comas!)
Another plotline making me uneasy is Simoneta/Lola. Wish that girl would just listen to her long-suffering grandma!
J in Oregon
I find the hinted at back stories so compelling. Does Dom's cross body purse have a part in the story line? She is never without it. Is E man really Roberta's "dead" baby? If Las Animas is Cande's why doesn't she boot Ser? Who is the candy man, is it Mel?
Let's see what happens tonight!!
Hellashelle- Perfect description of Cris. He's a trust but verify kind of guy. But he also doesn't like to judge people without proof. This cuts both ways. It means he gives his parents the benefit of the doubt. But it also leaves him immune to the crazy crap EVERYONE says about Aldonza.
I finally had a chance to watch Wednesday's episode before I watched the show last night. Let me just say that I agree about Val's pants. Like Lardo, those pants are not her friend and are not helping her in any way.
Exactly how long is Renato's commute from DF to SL ?
I'm sorry I won't have time to respond to everyone's comments individually, but I do thank you and I'm certainly entertained by reading them :D
This is episode 48, so that probably makes this about the 48th time I've said it, but--Hot damn! I love that we have a show worth talking about, where there's so much room for actual debate!
Good point on Cris in that he shuts out the crazy. I guess growing up with two parents who snip at each other you learn to do that. I just want a glimmer though of thinking WHY all these people are saying things and that if he loves Allie, just try to dig a little deeper into why she says what she does. Love is great, need a little trust thrown in there too.
I do think Sev tries to threaten Cande, it's like a knee jerk with him on that arm grab with people, but notice how she just straightened and stared him right down? He's the loser who won the rich girl in town and his power frankly stems from what he got through that. He can banter with her all he wants, but deep down I think he's in awe of what he caught with her and possibly that his wealth even now is tied up with keeping that marriage going.
Daisynjay
"I love that we have a show worth talking about, where there's so much room for actual debate!"
Daisynjay
Also surprised that Simoneta called Sev on his home phone after what happened the last time.
Please Padre, wake up and remember what happened to your truck.
Before I read any of the comments, let me just say, risking duplication, I take back what I said about Uriel yesterday. Maybe he's not such a thick dunce-head.
I wish Hum's watch had been engraved.
Vale did not come to the hospital and saw Aldie & Cris' embrace. It was probably for the best.
How does Cande come off getting hysterical over the Town Priest's physical condition and not raise questions in Cris' head. If anyone should be there at his bedside it's Dominga, but she merely asked Sev if there's any news.
Lardo seems to be using his few brain cells very well, DANG.
Renato is NOT the brilliant lawyer I thought he was. He was asked for his resignation, MY BAD. I wonder if he'll be able to get out of this one. His next best option is to move to SL, take Ganso & Sil (well, maybe not Sil) with him and hang out a solo practice shingle near the town plaza.
And I was surprised how quickly Uriel realized Lardo might be the thief. But really, did he expect him to come clean on the phone if he really did it? Come on Uriel. I hope he doesn't let it drop.
I want to know if Pru's going to do anything about the watch. Or if someone else will show up wearing it in Hum's practice.
I didn't want to believe that Mel had a triangle with Candy House lady, but there don't seem to be any other options. Maybe the ring was for Dom the whole time and Candy Lady was like Cande Lady, having a one sided love? Maybe he had to leave town because that's when Santiago died, and he and Dom went to get Lola?
Anita - Yes, Cris better be questioning why his mom was so freaked out about PJ. Def reminded me of when Sev lost his arm. She really was devoted to him , once upon a time.
Loved your insights. Here is one that gripes me, too.
"I say we do a petition to TN producers and tell them they can save some budget on these shows and just deep-six the "official looking" hospital masks and hair covering."
I think they have partially taken your advice. Aldonza had only a chaste hair covering and mask. Remember, if you saw Amor Bravio or Amores Verdaderos, that every time someone went into see a comatose or deathly ill patient or a newborn, they also wore the long blue gown and gloves? But we can't cry "We've come a long way, baby" yet.
Aldonza had better sell that apartment fast because her new truck is about to go up in flames.
Sever told her that he would crush her like a bug and he's doing it. First the padre and tonight her truck. How long can she last?
must see tv.
the gringo
She needs to chill and find out why Cris is with Padre J. These two are addicted to adrenaline: they "met" after an attempted rape, bonded during the high drama of the huerto fire and shared a highly passionate kiss charged with the thrill of possibly being caught. They are a couple of drama junkies and they both. need. to. chill! I guess that's what Dom and Adelina were attempted to do last night!
Perhaps this was mentioned yesterday, but there were some horrible fashion choices made by Valeria, Aldonza, and Chris over the past two episodes. First we had Val in those god awful pants, then Aldonza put on her fuchsia, midriff baring top with the leather-look leggings, and then Chris put on an ill fitting, unflattering belted safari jacket. I yelled at Aldonza to change her clothes before going to the hospital, but she did not listen.
I was happy to get a break from Lola. I lover her, but instead of growing she seems to be emotionally regressing with each episode.
Anita..That jacket had enough pockets for all those tasty movie treats.I'll give Cris a pass on the jacket, but there is just no excuse for Val's pants.
