La Sombra del Pasado #84 6-12-15 In The Shadow of Death. . .

Greetings, Sombra Patio Peeps!  We begin where we left off with the sadly not shocking assault of Severiano upon the pregnant and frail Simoneta Viviana!  Sev sent her flying over the sofa and we all saw the dreaded trickle of blood from the ear which signals certain death.  We don’t get a replay of that psychotic split between laughter and horror but instead Sev kneels next to S/V and feels a pulse  which is presented to us audibly.   He begins to squeeze, his face contorting and blooming crimson, his eyes bugging out and veins popping just as he did when he murdered Padre Sixto right in the church.  Slowly the pulse fades as Sev looks skyward as if giving thanks, relief replacing the labor of snuffing out a life.  Simonetta Viviana is dead!

Before I finish this sad and evil tale, I want to catch up with the buff and hopeful Emanuel who has gone to San Miguel hoping to enter the equestrian competitions with Solitario, his first love.  He is further hopeful because he has just declared his love to Lola and she reciprocated with words and deep, passionate kisses.  Ah!  Life is good!. . . .Or so he thought.  The same night Eman arrives in San Miguel he is mugged by a couple of thugs, the details of which we were spared but we did see them pull a knife on him and hold it to his throat!  Yikes!  When next we see him, it’s the next morning and he’s walking along the road trying to hitchhike back to Santa Lucia.

Now.  I don’t know if he had the cash to enter the competition on him, I’m assuming he did and the thugs made off with it and his phone.   Please feel free to weigh in, my friends.  We at the Cougar Table and the whole patio are just glad he’s not hurt!  So, let’s see what his second love, Lola, is up to!

This same morning Mari comes to the store looking for her mom, Irma, who is not there.  Lola has not learned that you don’t ask the mean bitch who is in competition with you for your man ANYTHING about him.  In fact, it’s best not to even let slide a buenos dias if you can help it.  So, Lola asks Mari if she’s talked to Eman and she lies and said not only did she talk to him, she spent the night with him!  This is Mari’s brilliant plan she wanted to run past the Vile one, remember.  Lola’s mouth says she doesn’t believe it but her blazing eyes, flaring nostrils, tight jaw and flushed face says she fell for it hook, line and sinker!  Mari flounces out of the store declaring that if she can’t have Eman, that stupid Lola won’t either.

Lola jumps on the phone to Jock but the connection is so bad the conversation goes nowhere, except to leave Lola with doubts.    At nightfall, Lola leaves the tiendita, still stony faced and sad.  Moments after she leaves Eman arrives the tiendita and finds it locked.  Drat!

Now, Mari, of the swinging ponytail, checks in with her bitch mentor, Vile, to let her know that the first part of her plan went without a hitch.  The Vile one is pleased, Mari launches part two which we don’t see until later in the evening.  Mari forces water to her eyes and lies in wait for her parents who arrive home in the lightest mood we have seen them since Lardo’s death,  even sharing laughter.  Of course as they enter the house and see the subdued and teary Mari they are concerned.  Irma asks Uriel to leave her to talk to Mari but he doesn’t leave the room and hears as Mari spews a tremendous  lie.  She tells her mom that instead of spending the night with Vile, she spent the night with Eman in San Miguel and “gave herself to him” and then he told her that he wanted to break up with her to go with Lola!  Oh, he used her!  We cut to Uriel’s face and he looks like he is about to blow a major gasket!

That’s not all, she “weeps!”  She gave him all her savings so he could enter into the riding competition.  It was his dream and she thought she was a part of that dream but he only said he wanted to marry her to get the money!   Uriel is FURIOUS and wants to go and kill Eman NOW!!  Mari even tells her dad Eman is now living at Aldonza’s.  Irma has to struggle mightily to calm Uriel down and keep him from leaving the house to go after Eman.  Mari has the nerve to begin to look worried at how marvelously this cynical manipulation of her parents is working.   Of course, she doesn’t see that that’s what she’s doing.  Mari joins Irma’s efforts to keep Uriel from going after Eman.  Uriel finally concedes as he dissolves into tears at the monumental pain they feel and that Eman has taken advantage of to hurt his little girl this way!  He warned them!  How could he?!  Mari, once again, looks as if the bottom of her stomach has dropped out as she sees her dad breaking down again.

Lola has arrived home, to Aldonza’s and tries to have some solemn moments alone recalling what she now believes to be Eman’s “false” declaration of love and the passionate kisses they shared in the barnyard.  Solitario, that gorgeous, show-stealing stallion, shakes his mane and looks for all the world like he’s going to do a Mr. Ed imitation.  Lola keeps it together and doesn’t laugh.  Camilo comes by to make sure Lola is all right.  She wants to be alone.  Solitario cuts up again!  Thanks, Solitario!

Eman is finally back home and debriefs with Jock.  Eman is insistent on talking to Mari.  Jock goes to bed and Eman places a call to Lola.  We can hear the excitement and anticipation in his voice.  Can y’all guess how Lola answers him!Snippy and bitchy and hangs up on him and throws the phone away.  I am restraining the depths of my impatience bordering on contempt I feel for this foolish girl!

Well,  even with all that has happened, Eman is a man of his word.  He has no idea why Lola received him that way but he’s going to talk to Mari as he promised and goes to her house.  Uriel answers the door and Eman, blind-sided by Uriel's anger but knowing he is innocent of any wrongdoing, asks to speak to Mari.  The Towering Hulk, Uriel, fueled by rage and grief slugs poor Eman who goes down!  Uriel lifts him up and delivers three solid punches to Eman’s gut!  Eman is down again as Irma runs out to stop him but not before the giant puts his back into a sharp and crushing kick to Eman's stomach again!  Uriel shouts that he should get out of town and not come back or he will kill him!!  Mari runs out and attempts to go to Eman but Irma barks at her to go back into the house.  Irma looks at Eman writhing on the ground and runs into the house as well!

Wow!  Irma being Irma, I hope she’s going in to call an ambulance!  It wouldn’t be like her to just leave Eman injured like that!  Oh no!  And here, we leave him.  The Cougar Table is torn between grief, fear and outrage!!

Let’s see what our (supposed) main love birds have been up to and what’s happening at the hospital.  RPC:  Hum lets Vile in to see Cris.  She lies that she hasn’t seen Aldonza and that she’ll go look for her for him because his well being is aaaalll that matters to her.  She and Cande growl piss and moan about Aldonza before Vile leaves the hospital and takes the call from her bitch in training, Mari.  Cande wonders where Sev is.

Aldonza comes to confront Hum about not letting her in to see Cris.  He tells her to be patient and prudent (Ha! Ha!  Didn’t miss that ho today!), he will tell her when she can visit.

Dom and Mel discuss Cris:  Cande says he’s in critical condition.  Dom heads off Mel’s attempt to flagellate himself with guilt over causing the accident.   They briefly discuss Lola and her mom, Simoneta Viviana.  Mel thinks they’ve made up, Dom doesn’t because Lola was too hurt.  Dom believes in Lola’s good heart.  They wonder how they will adjust if Lola forgives her mom and lets her into her life.

Padre is flunking forgery 101 and having second thoughts about his un-Priestly “ends justify the means” strategy to disproving the sibling lie.  Adelina sits across the desk from him and takes the paper with Sev’s signature and examines it.  What?  Did I miss something?  She maintains that they have to find a way to show Aldonza and Cris are NOT siblings!  By the way she’s examining the paper I think Adelina may take up penmanship!

Back at the hospital, Cande is still wondering where Sev is and stupidly asks Cris as well as inflicts her fussing/cranky presence on him!  Gah!

Well!  Finally Aldonza is able to sneak into Cris’s room and is hardly there for ten seconds before Cande slithers in hissing at Aldonza to leave.  Aldonza refuses and Cris defends her right to be there and his desire to have her there!  HE is the patient after all!  Aldonza looks triumphant after Cande’s exit.  She asks how he is; he says he’s told he is fine but would have died if he couldn’t see her.  He complains that they have him nearly sequestered and keeping him from seeing her.  They jokingly deny that each one sneaked into the other’s room and stole a kiss.

Aldonza updates him on all the people who have visited him.  She slips up and mentions Solitario.  Not to worry.  He knows all about it.  Cris also knows that Renato would gladly take advantage of him being out of the picture with this injury.  Oh no, goes Aldonza, Renato would be incapable of such a thing!  Aldonza is about to tell Cris about Padre J’s plan to get an authentic DNA test using Sev’s blood when Cande storms in.  RPC:  Aldonza is kicked out again and Hum allows it!  Seriously?  Does adulthood and marriage mean nothing in Santa Lucia!   Cande follows Aldonza out into the halls and vomits her usual lines of hatred at Aldonza through gritted teeth and eyes glaring with hatred.  Later she demands that Cris be moved out  of the hospital.  Hum at least refuses to risk Cris’s life on a whim!  To his credit he tells her that it’s obvious that Cris loves her and is dying to see her.  Cande drags out the sibling lie and Hum crushes it, nearly shouting that they both know it’s not true!  Well, just wait until the DNA test results come back!  He’ll see and everybody will see!  Grrrrr!

Aldonza sees Renato as she leaves the hospital.  She reports that Cris looks good.  He invites her to dinner.  Aldonza declines the invitation and tells him she cannot accept any other invitation from him.  She has thought about it and decided that they have to stop seeing each other as friends!  Renato looks gobsmacked!

Now.  Let’s get back to the sad demise of Simoneta Viviana and the continuing spiral into madness and evil of Severiano Mendoza.

When we get back to Sev he has managed to wrap S/V’s body in a sheet.  He ignores a cell phone call from Cande.  He tries to continue his macabre mission when S/V’s phone rings.  He grabs it and starts to throw it, thinks better and sits down to consider his next move.   Other scenes are interlaced so we don’t see how he does it, but Sev manages to put S/V’s body in a coffin-sized box.  Sev finds the phone number of a moving company written on a sheet of paper from S/V's phone and makes a call.  He needs help with “a parcel.”  Lola repeatedly calls S/V, while he sits against the box, smoking, his eyes narrowed, rheumy and red.

Two men arrive at S/V’s and the two burly guys find the box a hefty load.  Well, it’s books, Sev lies.  They load the box with S/V’s body into the back of Sev’s truck.  He pays them, they leave.  Whoa!  On her way home Lola had stopped by and takes in this whole scene!  Ever ready with a lie, but not so smoothly delivered, Sev tells Lola S/V has returned to San Miguel.  What’s in the box Lola wants to know:  if it’s her mother’s things she has a right to know.  Sev says he’s sending things to her as she asked and cuts off further inquiry with his usual “I’m the Master” demeanor and drives away.

Sev speeds and careens through the streets of Santa Lucia and is stopped by a cop on a motor cycle.  Sev is speeding and nearly caused an accident.  The cop asks to see his license and registration.  Sev’s usual veneer of cool control is thin tonight and he stammers that he doesn’t have the papers.  The cop asks him to step out of the car.  Sev tries to play the disabled card.  The cop wonders why Sev is so nervous.  Oh, it’s all due to his being distraught over his son’s critical illness and hospitalization.  Oh.  Wait a minute.  The cop asks if he is Don Severiano Mendoza.  Sev acknowledges with feigned embarrassment and humility.  Ah, the cop is new in town.  He should have told him before he was The Don, himself!  The cop sends him off with nearly a blessing and a suggestion to be careful!  Sev heaves a huge sigh of relief.

Sev drives to the waterfall at El Santuario, the same waterfall that cooled the passions of Aldonza and Cris at the beginning of this twisted saga.  He has backed his truck up right to the edge of the falls.  He gets out and struggles successfully to get the box out of the truck bed onto the falls but the box won’t go over.  Sev tries to move the box with his feet and finally gets it to go over the falls and we watch the plunge in slow motion.  Sev looks after it as it is slowly pushed down stream.  Severiano throws his head back and screams, then laughs maniacally as the box sinks out of sight.

The End.  Simoneta Viviana, Rest in Peace!

Comments:
Hi, Peeps! I borrow the introductory comment from my friend, Hellashelle. Thank you, Hella!

The preceding recap is original content, written exclusively for Caray, Caray!

Thanks for joining us here on the Sombra patio! We have a few rules here: no spoilers (do not discuss anything that happens AFTER the episode covered in the recap); no gossip about the stars' private lives; no criticizing the recap or the recapper. Please remember to thank the recappers.

Comments that are not relevant to the topic, are disrespectful to the author or other commenters, or are otherwise not in keeping with the rules or spirit of the blog may be deleted. We're generally a friendly bunch, fond of lively discussion, and we welcome debate as long as the mood stays civil.

I wanted to get something up to begin this weekend's discussion and cussin! We generally not only discuss Friday, but the whole week and there's a lot to discuss. This recap is light on translation of dialogue and, as usual, please add any conversation that is vital to the story that I missed. Really, I am open to any additions, corrections, clarifications.

I'll be back in a bit to clean up rough spots. I'm not sleepy tonight so I hope some of y'all stop by to begin the party early!

Have at it, Peeps!

Such a frustrating episode. But what a masterful performance by Alexis Ayala. And a masterful retelling of it. Very well done, Lila. Thank you. I don't know how you got through the Mari business without using the f-bomb multiple times. Any pity I had for her is gone.

I'm going to have to rewatch the Solitario scene.

Gracias tanto, Lila! I'm just sitting here with my mouth hanging open.

Once again, Sev gets away with murder...grrrrr!

Mari hurts not only Lola and Emmanuel, but also her parents...grrrr!

Thank you for mentioning that Mr. Ed moment. I had the same thought, since the audio from Lola's flashback was going as Solitario was moving his lips.

The cops in this town are terrible! He's swerving all over the place and says he's just sooooo distraught...but since he's Don Sev he gets to drive away? How about "Well, gee, since you're such a prominent citizen, I'm not even going to give you a warning...but since your distress hasn't lessened any in the last five minutes, I'm going to have to ask you to call someone to drive for you, sir. Clearly you're not up to the task."

So I'm assuming that Mari's plan was to weave these tall tales, NOT the mugging. I'm assuming the mugging was just to prolong Em's return.

Somehow I hope that's not the last of Sim. I hope her body is discovered. I hope there's a diary or a letter somewhere that says "if something happens to me, it's all Sev's fault."

And I hope that when all is revealed, that the whole town shuns Cande. She's just as responsible.

He "wrote" that letter himself. With the DNA and fingerprints all over her place, all over her body and the trunk...not sure how much of what's on the trunk is recoverable...but the child she's carrying? DNA evidence right there. Of course, the cops are completely incapable of doing their jobs, so it's all going to come down to Lola's word against his.

I can tell that comments are just going to get me mad all over again. All the smart patio peeps will be pointing out all these things that never occurred to me and my blood will start to boil. Like right now. All that evidence. All those idiot cops.

Lila, thank you for wonderful retelling of a very sad episode.

I swear that the look Sev on face as he killed Sim/Viv was downright obscene. What a pervert. May Sim/Viv and her baby rest in peace.

I have a hard time watching the scenes with Mari, she just doesn't fit the part. How did such nice, decent people produce such horrible offspring?

Cande is becoming almost cartoonish - I expect her braids to pop out of her head like an overwound spring. I just know it is going to happen if she doesn't let go of some of her anger. A lot of her has to do with Sev as much as Roberta with the red twirly skirts.

Hum is up to something, I can see the wheels turning!

Thanks for all of the recaps this week, they as well as the comments have been terrific. Life got in the way this week so I am playing catch up.

Rosemary Primera

I take that back. They aren't idiots. They are either corrupt or scared.

Rosemary - I had a similar thought after he choked Sim. There seemed to be some sexual overtones. Ew.

Thank you for the incredible recap Lila! But I did not draft the intro comment; I believe that was originally from our lovely Diva

You guys.

Seriously.

Mari has returned to head of my sh*t list where she appears to want to stay and reign as queen of the dangerous idiots now that her brother has passed away. QTFH?! How HOW can she be so cruel? This is Vile worthy stuff. I mean applause applause if she was trying to raise her game to match her friend. She KNOWS how many times her dad has threatened E. She KNOWS that the relationship only started because of her lies. She KNOWS what her parents have been through and that E has no job, no family, no house and is staying with friends and she wants to add broken ribs to this?!

Naw y'all. Even when she comes clean - and she will come clean, all tearfully and whatnot, I'm sure of it - I can't get behind her being happy with Pato. Nope. Nuh uh. She needs to go down.

And what about the fact that her stuff is probably still in the apartment. And I bet Humberto would say there's no way she could have made it back to San Miguel, as terrible as she was feeling. Nobody saw her get on a bus. Her house back in San Miguel is empty. So many things that point to foul play, but nooooo...the aura of Don Sev trumps all.

I second that, HellaShelle! Down with Mari! I had such high hopes after Lardo's demise, but no. Pobre de Uriel and Irma.

Rosemary and Sara, yeah, it did seem like he got off on killing her. At least until the phone started ringing, and then it was all "Can't a one-armed man move a body in peace?" I vote he starts getting tormented by the ghosts of his victims now. He seems ripe for it.

I love your rants, hellashelle! And I am adopting QTFH. Love it.

I'd love to see some haunting!

Yeah I'm going to have to do some real beanie adjusting when it comes to how long it takes for Sev to finally get caught. Because there's a lot of evidence. He should be caught in like 24 hours. Instead we'll suffer his freedom for a month or two.

How nice. Today's word to repeat is love. (Read in the 1970's game show Password voice.)

Too bad Sev didn't run over Mari with his erratic driving through SL - I would have paid to see that!

Rosemary Primera

Ha! That would be nice...no denying it and then...oh, looky, a body in the back of the truck! Care to explain this, Don Sev?

I do believe that Eman is going to the hospital. The question is will he and Cris share a room. And how convenient to have both blood samples in the same hospital lab at the same time. Has PJ arranged this with the TN Gods? I hope he makes it out alive and that Lola doesn't smother him with her loving. Mel is right, she does have a good heart.

Rosemary Primera

Mr. 5ft was commenting that it sucks that Lola has always wanted to know about her parents and just when she finally found her mother, now her mother is dead. They sure don't half-ass the "bad stuff" that's happening to the good guys in this one.

Okay, let me try this again:

Lila fantabulous and descriptive recap! You did a disturbingly good job of capturing Sev's murder of S/V. And I hadn't even thought about the competition money! Oh no! Now Mari's going to think she's entitled to bring a witch andruining his life with her horrible lies because he lost her life savings! Man, I really hope he reported the theft at the SMPD, but that probably won't even matter. Poor Eman. He was awfully cheerful the next day though. Nothing keeps a smile off that chiseled face for long I guess.

So glad to see Aldonza finally acting with some sense. She's not throwing tantrums in the hospital or having screaming matches. She knows that Cris loves her and these people are idiots. She knows it's just a matter of time before they find out the truth and Cris gets out of the hospital. Now, she's just worried about how to handle her feelings for her potential half brother. And she took the big step with Renato! Yay! Good job, Aldonza! Gold star for your one moment of clarity. Let's hope Ren doesn't join forces with Vile Val to help make this Who's Your Daddy? storyline stick b/c ugh, no.

But tonight belonged to Severiano Mendoza. Dude has gone over the edge. Lila, you were so right to say his veneer is at its thinnest, and the mask is crumbling quickly. I think the S/V murder is really going to haunt him, especially since she was pregnant. No matter what he says about that, this death, all unplanned, and in the middle of the Cris crisis, I think is really going to break him.

Hey, Peeps! Let's Par-taaaay! We need it. Any description of food, drinks, party favors is appreciated. It's a sad night! Let me run down these comments!

Sara--Thank you my dear and Alexis Ayala needs to write a "how to be an egaging, riveting, 3-D Villain Guidebook, man! He nailed the hell out of it! And yes, Mari HAS F'ed up BIG TIME! Eman is hurt bad! Selfish, manipulative skank!

Yes, Diva, thanks, hon! What Mari is doing to her parents is criminal. I don't care that she's realizing what she is doing is beyond wrong, it's assault!

Yes, Sara @11:02, I guess this was Mari's plan. I delivered my prize cherry to Emanuel under false pretenses and now he's dumping me for Lola. What the hell did Mari think her dad would do with such a tale?

And Sim had just told Lola that Sev was capable of killing her. Lola saw him at the scene of the crime while the still warm body was in the back of the truck. Oh, no!

Rosemary Primera!--Thanks, hon! Sev IS a sicko, isn't he? You know what, the more masterful Sev becomes in his evil portrayal, the more cartoonish Cande looks! Rosemary, I hope Hum IS up to something, like finally outing his "compadre" even if his own neck has to go on the line!

Hellashelle--Ooops! Thanks, Diva for the intro and thank you for your kind comment, Hella! Ditto your WHOLE COMMENT at 11:15. As the old folks used to say, "she has torn her ass with me!" NO PATO!!! Yes, she needs to go DOWN!

Oh, you guys beat me to the haunting predictions. Also, yes to all who noted the almost orgasmic satisfaction Sev took out of strangling S/V. Certainly fits with his pattern of violent "love"making. So creepy.

I wasn't anticipating Eman getting to go to the hospital, which is sad. I already feel bad for him because I don't have the faith in Lola that she'll give him the chance to explain. On the other hand, I can see her dropping everything and running to the hospital. Don't know how this will affect her job with Irma though...

Rosemary Primera-- I do believe that Eman is going to the hospital. The question is will he and Cris share a room. And how convenient to have both blood samples in the same hospital lab at the same time.

I like it! I like it! No. I love it! I love it!

Thanks again, Hellashelle@11:44. I do see Sev starting to unravel. He's getting off yet coming apart with this latest double murder! Yah. Sev stole the show!

Lol, Lila...what's mine is yours. I'm not gonna go all Mari on you :p

The "If I can't have him, no one can" attitude has never really made any sense to me to begin with, but what Mari's doing makes even less sense somehow. She's not just going after him herself, but she basically sicced her dad on him. Doesn't she care that Uriel can be arrested and charged with assault? Or did the thought just not occur to her?

Thank you lila for a very good sometimes hard story to recap.
I'm glad lola didn't press sev, she might have wound in that box with momma and baby bro or sister. What an evil, cold, murderous episode, very sad.

Are we supposed to believe a one-armed man moved a body in a box by himself and loaded it on a truck????

I also couldn't stand the beating Emmanuel got from Mari's dad.

A great recap Lila.

Ann-NYC

Diva, what Mari has done is so despicable, especially in the light of just having buried her brother not a month ago. They tried to show us that she realized this was going too far but I don't care. She's got to pay for this. Uriel is BIG man and Eman should be real hurt. Lord, have mercy!

Well, he did call those movers to help him load the box onto the truck, so there's that. People with physical disabilities are capable of a lot...it's just too bad evil creepy Sev has to be the example of how a disability doesn't have to slow you down. Not to mention the adrenaline kicking in after committing a murder probably played a part in what he was able to accomplish.

Thank you, Nina! It WAS sad. Sad and maddening! I HATE the mean girls! I just have this deep, rumbling rage when I see them plotting and smiling and smirking! Uuuuf!

Hi, Ann, thanks! Well, I could see him getting her onto a sheet but where the box came from and how he got her into it. . well, they did right to not try to show it but remember, Sev called a couple of his employees to come over and put the box in the truck. Yah. I guess that right arm and, as some have said, his legs, have compensated for the absence of the left arm.?!

I couldn't tell whether Mari was seriously realizing what she'd done or whether she was keeping up appearances in case one of her parents looked over at her. Acting/directing goof, maybe. I kept waiting for the sly look and a smile.

Watched this as soon as I got home a bit ago. Thanks so much for recapping such a hard episode, Lila. I have to think about this episode a bit more before commenting. Tomorrow.

The trunk Sever put Sim in was the coffee table in the living room that she cracked her head on when she fell over the couch. Uni did a bit of editing to mask the blow and the sound of her head cracking.

Diva, I think when Uriel first exploded she was surprised at the intensity of his anger. It seemed like she really was starting to realize maybe she'd gone too far. Especially when she ran out after Uriel beat the crap out of Eman she saw things had gotten out of control. What was she thinking? I may not like her at all but I can't believe she wanted her dad to actually kill Eman! I guess we're supposed to believe this is the impetuous "decision" of a "young girl in love." I could see a teen or a young 20 doing something like this but the maturity of the actress playing Mari may be throwing us all off. Too bad Mari took the advice of Vile who didn't give a rip about the Lagos family's grief or Lardo, really. What an idiot.

Thank you, Vivi! Okay. At one point I thought it might be a storage type table! Note to self: don't buy a coffee table that could accommodate your corpse. . .or don't have a "friend" like Sev!

Look forward to your always deep and insightful comments, Vivi!

Okay. On my comment above, this "plan" was Mari's idea but she does admire the mean girl manipulation and objectification of people as practiced by Vile.

"Note to self: don't buy a coffee table that could accommodate your corpse. . .or don't have a "friend" like Sev!" WORD! Every time I see a big coffee table like that now, I'm going to wonder....

I don't even know why Mari is still speaking to Val in the first place.

LILA, great, just a great recap, thanks very much!

ROSEMARY PRIMERA, ooh, I like your prediction that the half brothers Chris and Eman could end up in the hospital together...sharing transfusions.

DIVA, I am taking very seriously your suggestion not to buy a coffee table that could double as a coffin...

I never liked the S/V character but it was still hard watching her meet her end. She was weak and foolish but not evil. When Sev backed his truck up to the waterfall, I had a brief thought that S/V's body might float down and end up at El Santuario...but no, it sank right down. Was Sev screaming, or laughing?

J in Oregon

That was Lila's safety tip...and a good one, at that!

Was Sev screaming or laughing?...I'm going to go with "yes."

Diva - Great points about the new cop in town. He didn't write Sev up or anything. It was like watching a comedy skit about ladies getting out of tickets with a flick of their hair and an opened top button on their blouse. (Although Alexis does have a great smile...). Yeah, why is Mari still talking to Val? Val has been horrible to her. She's lied to and insulted Mari big time and even told her that she was through with her. Is Mari drinking Renato's kool aid?

Ann - I think Sev's specifically got a sheet and rolled S/V onto it to help with the lack of arms problem, but yeah he needed those movers. Not only does it add witnesses for later down the line, but there's no way we would've bought him getting her out of that house by himself.

Rosemary - I agree, Cande is a cardboard cut out of a villain. Mostly, I think, because her plans always seem juvenile. They always seem so petty and/or insustainable. And, of course, her anger against Aldonza is so misplaced and irrational. But next to Sev, whoo. He is on a whole other level. She thinks she's a big fish, but that's only because her runners up are Val, Pru and Mari. They're all minor league at best. Sev is in the Olympic Hall of Fame.

Lila - I'm with you. I don't think Mari thought her dad would actually beat Eman down the way he did. I guess she figured he would act like Sev and demand Eman marry her immediately? Threaten to press charges if he didn't? I don't know why these girls want shot gun weddings. Do they simply not think beyond the ring? Do they not imagine how their significant others will look at/treat them afterwards? Or how they themselves will feel being stuck with someone who was forced to be there?

Sara - there's no way that body stays "buried." In fact, LOL, now that I think about it, wouldn't it be just the best if Sev gets his water divergence order and S/V washes right up onto his land?

Looks like we have a ~SPAM~ post, right after Hellashelle's 01:11:00 post. And HOW is it the spammer can post a link and we peons can not? Let's sic Sev on him!

Lila - Thank you for the recap. I may pass on watching this episode because it sounds reeeally frustrating. Thank you for watching (and 'capping), so I won't have to.

Is Looneyvision cutting scenes? QTH happened to Eman's mugging? I feel cheated.

I knew it was you soon as I read "He begins to squeeze, his face contorting and blooming crimson". Poetry. Thanks Lila.

For me the best snipped of a scene by AA was after all he went through to get the box over the falls, for a second, it appeared it would not sink and that fleeting look. Dude morphs by millisecond without the aid of clever camera tricks or computer animation.

What is the real reason Aldonza finally shut Renato down, she's known all along and let him woo? Was it Silvia's chat or cause she was giddy after seeing Cris or cause he asked about the two of them? This estrangement won't last.

Mari's mis planes are kinda like Aldonza's, not well thought through, ignoring the fact other people get to decide their own reaction. Yep, Emanuel got a beat down, but I feel bad for Uriel and Irma too. If Mari subconsciously wanted drama for a little attention she got it.

"If Mari subconsciously wanted drama for a little attention she got it."

I hadn't even thought about it, but that makes it even more plausible.

Not that I wanted Em beat up, but the if no one can have him thing just makes it seem like cheap TN plot. Subconscious ploy for attention seems a little more like good drama.

Thanks, Doris and J! I need to go back and change that to "movers" instead of Sev's employees. That's a big difference. I may leave my confusion over the coffee table there (thanks Vivi) because others may have had the same confusion!

Hella, this is brilliant and I beseech the tn gods that it come true:

there's no way that body stays "buried." In fact, LOL, now that I think about it, wouldn't it be just the best if Sev gets his water divergence order and S/V washes right up onto his land?

YES! That would be WONderful!! Would THAT and Lola's testimony having seen him with the box in his truck bed, would THAT finally stop the cops and Police Chief from puckering up at his butt at every turn. Like many of you, though, I think the Police Chief isn't totally on the butt-kissing team. Remember, he's on to Sev in the Lardo murder case but doesn't have PROOF. Would a water-logged corpse in a coffee table that Lola saw in the back of Sev's truck be PROOF enough! Sheesh!

Lila- Once again, thank you for this superb recap of a disturbing and frustrating episode.

Sever's scenes were riveting. I especially was impressed by the care and detail that went into showing how Sever got the trunk over the falls. Well done by the actor, director, and camera people. ITA that Alexis was riveting this whole episode. I did laugh a bit when he freaked out when the phones kept ringing and he screamed "leave me alone!" One correction- the guys Sever called to help him move were random movers from the phone book, not his employees. He called the number written on a sheet of paper from Sim's phone, and asked them about their moving services. It will make it hard to track down two random movers.

I don't think Mari was planning on Uriel making Eman marry her, otherwise she would not have told him that Eman used her to get her life savings. Plus we already heard her say if she can't have him, neither can Lola. And apparently Eman's other punishment for not being into her is to have his reputation ruined and the crap beat out of him.

This is not the first time that Lola has challenged Sever about something or seen something he doesn't want anyone seeing. I worry for that girl sometimes, even as silly as she is about boys. I don't want Sever to hurt her. She surely has an angel on her shoulder who has protected her from that demon so far. Too bad Sim didn't.

Not only did that stupid cop let erratically driving Don Sever go, he also offered him a police escort if he wanted one.

Doris! We recappers live to serve. . . .even when we're serving up death and frustration! Don't watch, honey. Our Eman REALLY took a beat down. He just cannot catch a break! He's operating with Roberta's brain AND her fresh, hot pheromones but unfortunately attracted the likes of Mari, a woeful wench who managed not to inherit an ounce of her parent's compassion and wisdom; and Lola, an emotionally immature hot-head who may also have carried on her (late) mother's impaired judgement! THIS is the outcome, on top of his terrible, loveless upbringing! Keep the Cougar Table stocked, Doris, hopefully things will look up on Monday or Hella's prediction will come true and his beat down won't be in vain!

I agree Vivi, Mari has thrown in the towel on a relationship. Mari's plan was short sighted and didn't take into account a physical overeaction by her father, however part of her plan was to get her parents worked up.

They were movers he found in the book and one of them told him if he needed anything else at some point to call.

Lila, this was exquisitely written. It was so difficult to pare down my list of favorites but "Slowly the pulse fades as Sev looks skyward as if giving thanks, relief replacing the labor of snuffing out a life", "Solitario, that gorgeous, show-stealing stallion...," and "Padre is flunking forgery 101 and having second thoughts about his un-Priestly “ends justify the means” strategy to disproving the sibling lie" were marvelous.

"They sure don't half-ass the "bad stuff" that's happening to the good guys in this one" – hear, hear Kat.

Ann NYC, I also had to look away at the (truly) savage beating Uriel gave Eman. Consumed with grief, Uriel had withdrawn from life and was only now seeking to enter the world of the living. Fueled by anger thinking his only living child was being hurt, he unleashed all the hurt and heartbreak he had been feeling. I do think Mari realized what she had done but it was too late. Her cruel web of lies resulted in her father losing the last remnants of control he had and the innocent Eman with what may be life threatening injuries. I do hope this pivotal event will
result in her changing and be the daughter her parents so richly deserve.

doris, I was also wondering why we didn't see what happened to Eman during the mugging. He must have came away poorer but unscathed - well, at least until his fateful visit to Mari's.

Alonza getting in to see Cris was a hollow victory. What is that compared to Eman's plight or Simoneta's murder?? The worst thing is that we are not at rock bottom yet. I suspect that will occur when Val plays her false pregnancy card.

Lola did not hear Cris would be out of town. Everything that ensued certainly made it seem that things were amiss. I have sympathy for her especially knowing she will never get to know her mother or brother she has now lost forever.

Lila, thank you for this most excellent summary.

Diana

Mornin' Tofie! Thank you, girl! Just as Susana gave volume, depth and humanity to Roberta despite the tragic and deadly consequences of her actions, Alexis is doing the same for Sev and I am in awe of the range of emotions he displays with his face, his body, he's drawing from a deep well and projecting some, like, I don't know, quantum level shit at us or something! Go back and look at the last scene after the coffee table/coffin sinks: His smile is so brilliant and I was actually thinking, "damn, Sev has never looked so handsome. . . .uh, wait a minute! HE JUST MURDERED AND DUMPED THE BODY OF A PREGNANT WOMAN!!!" Then, I felt a little sick and ashamed!

Dude's good! And Mari. Can we form a line for a smack down like on "Airplane." Oh, these things do awaken some dark/silly emotions!

Thank you Lila, your writing reads like a great novel. Even though I watched it, reading it was riveting too.

I'm glad someone mentioned that the casket was the coffee table because I lol'd when I saw it magically appear. They should have shown Sev turning it over or taking off stuff to use it.

I didn't think Sev's looks were sexual in nature when he was dealing with the killing or the casket drop. I thought it more a look of relief, but I guess they can look very similar. It's just the way one interprets it. And Iike Tofie said, when the casket finally went over the waterfall, it floated at first, I even said out loud that it's going to stay floating, but then it sank and Sev did that relief laugh because he was worried it would float too.

The whole point I think for the mugging was so that Lola couldn't get in contact with him so she would be more likely to buy Mari's story. How is Emanuel going to convince Lola this time? I said before, it will take 30 episodes.

Tofie- Yes, I do believe it was Silvia's talk with her that caused Al to decide to distance herself from Renato. Unfortunately, I don't think Ren will allow her to do that so easily.

When Cris was talking to Aldonza, he asked her if Val told her he wanted to talk with her, and Aldonza said no, she never told her that. So now at least he knows that Val would be lying about it if he asks her.

Thank you, Vivi at 9:06! I fixed the movers thing. That IS an important detail! As we mull over Mari's motives, I just marvel at how Irma and Uriel could have excreted such rotten kids! Amazing!

Cathyx- The mugging served the purpose both of Eman losing his cell and being out of contact, and also of him losing all his money so that he couldn't buy a bus ticket and get back quickly. Giving Mari enough time to do her evil work, and for Lola to stew in her jealousy, doubt and anger.

Oh man! Keep talking, guys! Got to go feed and water me and boys, I'll be back.

Vivi, In the recap I hope it's clear that I fear for Lola because, yes, this IS the second time she's caught him in some mess involving S/V. I'm hoping that if S/V and the coffee table of doom wash up somewhere and Lola is a key witness that they will have Sev firmly under lock and key, without access to a phone or other prisoners, AND protecting Lola (yah, I know, the keystone SL cops!) so that he can't send one of his minions to do a hit, either!

thanks, Lila.

OMGee..Just when you think the evil cannot get any Eviler..it does. Severed has gone completely off his rocker. His face when he was choking poor Sim looked exactly like it did when that devil choked poor Padre Six to in the church. YIKES The final scene at the waterfall and his facial expressions...YIKES again, I was so hoping that he would fall on top of that box (coffin) and surf down that waterfall with his latest victim. BLLEECChhh

p.s. How did one armed bandit manage to get Sim's lifeless body into that box?

Susanlynn- I'm guessing that he used the sheet he wrapped her in for leverage to drag and lift the body into the chest.

My other morbid LOL moment was when the movers asked what was in the heavy box and Sever said "books, culture" with a snooty attitude. Do you suppose the box was so heavy because he also threw a bunch of her stuff in there too? I mean, surely those two big guys wouldn't find a box with just one woman's body heavy enough to worth noting.

Lila, Hellashelle, Diva, et al...you guys are amazing. The recap just perfect and all the comments already today....wooo. Great stuff.

First, my thanks to Solitario. Bless his heart for keeping me from throwing something at Lola last night and instead just giggled through that whole scene. What a ham!

So you can tell I'm on my last rope with Lola immediately always believing the worst of E-man told by the beyotch she knows has lied in the past. As for Mari--sorry, I'm sure they are going to try and redeem her, but her spoiled brat behavior is getting boring. The fact she caused her father such pain I hope burns her soul and she realizes how damn selfish she really has been. Neither of those kids deserved their parents.

Ok, so Allie gobsmacks Renato. She doesn't just tell him they will never be a couple, but they can't even be friends. I got that right??? This is the guy who has bent over backwards for you, bailed you out with the apartment, fronted you on your MisPlans and who you have run to with every problem you've had. I get no romance, but I'm sorry...I thought that was a slap in the face. She does everything in extremes, she is her mother's daughter. There was a way to talk to him without just throwing him to the curb. Wonder what she would do if he pulled out all the funding. Wrong of me to wish he does?

If Alexis doesn't get every award for villain there is this coming year, I'll throw something. My word, he was riveting last night. I agree, the sheer thrill he took in taking down Sim did definitely take on a sexual overtone, which goes perfectly along his behavior toward women, raping Allie without a thought, his leering, threatening etc. We are watching an actor put together a genius portrayal of a serial, demented sexual deviant and murderer who hides right in plain sight. Master class.

Moring all
Cathyx - I didn't think the casket part was sexual, I meant the strangling. The casket part was kind of funny what with it getting stuck first and then floating. AA really knows how to improv.

Lila - don't feel dirty. AA is really very good looking. He's got a great smile.

Tofie - I won't even give her the "subconscious" part. Mari wanted attention all right in the concious part of her idiot mind. I wouldn't have thought she wanted him to get beat up like that, but Vivi et al are right, there's no other explanation for her actions. She knew he was going to break up with her and now she's (trying to) end his realtionship with Lola, his reputation, his dreams with Solitario (because no doubt she thought her dad would get her money back), all of it. Congratulations, Mari. I'm promoting you up the list of amateurs. You have officially passed Pru and are rivaling Val and even Cande for Queen B(*tch) of SL.

Which one takes the cake (or in this TN, the Candy house) guys:

1) Lying to your son to make him believe his wife is his sister and following up with doctored DNA?
2) Lying to your ex to make him believe he slept with you (which would've been rape, had it happened) and planning to pass off you deceased secret lover's child as his solely to trap him (as you would've aborted otherwise)?
3) Avoiding being broken up with at all so that you can spread rumours about your soon-to-be ex's integrity in a town of gossiping vipers, ruin his new relationship and future dreams, al while knowing that your dad,"Bear", who's just lost a child with go bsc on his butt the second he sees him and the whole situation will give your newly healing parents fresh wounds?

We know they stone people in the town square. Do they also still have stocks? I'll bring the rotting fruit.

susanlynn, yes, Sev does not possess superhuman strength. I'm shocked he got her in and even more shocked he got her over the cliff. For a brief moment, hope arose as I thought the coffin might bob on the surface. However, this is not an ocean - it may well come adrift and "ashore".

"There was a way to talk to him without just throwing him to the curb". daisy, great comment and so true. I think Aldonza does not know how to deal with men - period. Her mother's history and influence certainly affected her but I suspect the rape even more so. In her mind, I believe she felt that by severing any personal ties she was doing the right thing. Things are black and white with her.

Diana

"Cande drags out the sibling lie and Hum crushes it, nearly shouting that they both know it’s not true! Well, just wait until the DNA test results come back! He’ll see and everybody will see! Grrrrr!"

Hum, this is a clue directly from Cande Girl herself that she has doctored the DNA test. It is time to step up to the plate and fix this mess. You and PJ could be a powerful duo against the evil in SL.

Rosemary Primera

Thank you Lila....Once again to you wonderful recappers who filled in the dialog that I could not keep up with.

I was soooo wishing that Sev would slip trying to push the box over the falls and go over with it. I am could imagine him frantically clinging to the coffin of the woman he just killed to save his own life. Then being fished out of the water along with S/V's body. But I am sure he could lie his way out of that as well.

Hellashelle, I thought the look he gave after he killed Simona was also a look of relief, that her being dead will now uncomplicate his life a bit. But like I said before, the look of relief and the look of sexual gratification can look alike. It's all in how each of us interpret the meaning of the look.

I kept thinking that Sev should have left her body there and left. They would have had a harder time proving that he was the killer, than doing what he did do, especially since there were so many witnesses that can pin him to the crime.

Back from breakfast! Let's see. . .Thank you, dear Diana! Diana, bless you for rising above the rabid contempt I feel for Mari to say this: I do hope this pivotal event will result in her changing and be the daughter her parents so richly deserve. For Irma and Uriel's sake I hope this is true!

ITA with this, Alonza getting in to see Cris was a hollow victory. Couldn't put my finger on it. There were no sparks and no excitement to this reunion!

Thanks, Cathyx! Cathyx, Lola just bugs me! I hate it when people don't let the person they supposedly love talk but will stretch their ear all out of shape to listen to a skank, conniver or whoever the villain of the story is! Uuuuuf!

Susanlynn!, girl, I was thinking the same thing about Sev falling down with the box but I was like, nah, it's too early. Danggit!

p.s. How did one armed bandit manage to get Sim's lifeless body into that box? Please put in your order for your monogramed Sombra beanie!

Severiano - two fer

Renato - I didn't want to be friends anyway

Simoneta - that damn Severiano told me this trunk was Pottery Barn, it says Big Lots

Emanuel - it ain't easy being me

Aldonza - wonder if I can take that back

Cande - diarrhea of the mouth

Mari - don't look at me I didn't hit him

Irma - if he's still there in the morning I'll feel bad

PJ - you know that scene in Animal House, the semi nude girl passed out and the devil is on one, uh, never mind

Thanks Daisynjay! Good point about Donnie: She doesn't just tell him they will never be a couple, but they can't even be friends. I got that right???. . .She does everything in extremes, she is her mother's daughter.

ITA about Alexis: We are watching an actor put together a genius portrayal of a serial, demented sexual deviant and murderer who hides right in plain sight. Master.

Hellashelle Hmm, it's hard to choose the most contemptible from your list! Maybe number 2 (the Vile one) Lying to your ex to make him believe he slept with you (which would've been rape, had it happened) and planning to pass off you deceased secret lover's child as his solely to trap him (as you would've aborted otherwise)?

Emeraldrose! Thank you! Yah. Sev in the waterfall. Missed opportunity!

Tofie! Love PJ and Irm's lines!

How long and what do y'all think it will take for Mari to confess? Maybe big Uriel getting arrested? Seeing him slide into another deep funk? Of course, when/if she does she'll blame it all on their neglecting her all her life and especially since Lardo died. Who said it yesterday? I don't think she HAS been ignored!

Daisy - I'm withholding Aldonza slaps for Monday to see how/if she follows up her pronouncement with an explanation and apology. For now, I still give her a gold star for actually doing something about the situation. Still don't think she's thought it through and she's going to get all pissy if/when he pulls his financial/legal support. She could've switched to Silvia as her lawyer, but she may have burned that bridge with her asinine "worst in you" comment.

Lila and Diana - Diana bless you for rising above the rabid contempt I feel for Mari Diana, you are a better person than I. Lila, you are a better writer than I. Thank you for putting my feelings into words as "rabid contempt" is a very apt description. Also, on the hollow victory - did they cut out the first few moments of the A/C reunion? I feel like they did and it was probably the best part of that reunion as Cande came in seconds later. But since they've laid no basis for this amazing love story, their reunions are always going to be a little off. Forced and slightly nonsensical. I tightenin my beanie for as per usual on it.

At least Mari had the decency to look guilty about what she is doing when she saw her father's reaction to the news and the mauling he gave Emanuel.

Awwwwm Hellashelle! How do you do a keyboard blush! ;D

Hella, it's really sad but true that they've laid no basis for this amazing love story, their reunions are always going to be a little off. Forced and slightly nonsensical. Now THAT'S the missed opportunity! In a novela I LIVE for the stolen moments, the lingering moments of love and reunions of the lovers. Sigh. We was robbed!

Don't know how quickly Mari confesses but bet Aldonza backs off her scorched earth policy with Renato before she does.

No upside to Mari for Emanuel getting that beat down (especially if Uriel goes after him again) other than Irma confirming why the beatdown occurred to Lola. Emanuel cannot prove he was not with Mari.

No upside to Aldonza for Renato to be only a business partner & attorney. The only reason he is her business partner, attorney and private banker is access. He is in love, she knows and they both lie when they call it a friendship or a business/professional relationship. Renato knows Aldonza well and she's flat broke. My guess he will be successful in blaming Silvia for misrepresenting what was said for her own selfish reasons and Aldonza all too willing to buy that.

Lila - you and I are on the same wavelength, girl. Those moments are the best parts, the crispy bits of the roast, so to speak, the icing on the cake, the a la mode to the pie.

I am so hungry right now.

Cathyx - I know, right! I totally thought he was going to drag her back to the bed, maybe make like she'd fallen out of it and hit her head that way. After all, everyone that knew her (ok, Hum and Lola) knew she hadn't been feeling well and "could barely walk." Who's to say she didn't get tangled in the sheets trying to get to the bathroom? Also, yup, Mari looked mighty guilty even at the beginning, middle and end of her scene. But she just kept going. Which is why I'm not even going to be mad when Lola and/or Aldonza slap her across her smug little face. And I'm saying that knowing sull well that both Aldonza and Lola have had and continue to have their own slap worthy moments. I tried, I really did, but now I don't even want her redeemed. I feel like they'll go there because she does have these moments of guilt and regret, but I don't need to see even the beginning of her redemptive rise out of gutterdom. She can slink off into the dark with her friend and Irma and Uriel can begin anew with their grand baby (honestly, they're that kid's only hope).

Emeraldrose - I love the imagery of Sev having to cling to Sim's coffin to avoid drowning.

I didn't have any problem with the Cris & Aldonza reunion, it did cheer both up mightily. It is clear Cris is nuts about her and not for a second believes she is his sister, knows he doesn't want Val but Aldonza's still kinda conveniently thinks they may share the same father and she has been lead to believe Cris slept with Val so justifiably a little standoffish and no talk of stopping the divorce proceedings. I also think it was that brief visit with Cris that prompted her to slam the door on Renato. She could have had that chat with him earlier but needed a nudge. Having said that, she hasn't convinced me it is romantic love she feels for Cris but more like she gets a hit of pure oxygen and high from it for 10 minutes.

Hellashelle, Mari wouldn't admit that she went too far because then she would have to admit she lied to everyone. I'm not sure how she'll get found out, but I can't wait to see her parent's faces when she does.

I feel bad for Irma and Uriel when they find out about Mari's lie.

The "reunion" definitely had the vibe that neither of them believed the sibling lie. Though, I like that Aldonza is starting to throw her status as his alleged sister around as leverage.

I'm glad she did have the talk with Renato, but the timing and her attitude seemed needlessly cruel. This is the talk they needed to have before he started throwing his entire inheritance into her farming scheme. Now it just seems unrealistic. You don't want to even be friends? Well, ok, I'll take my millions and go back to the DF.

I guess I meant to say unrealistic in that we know he's not going to leave, but come on...who would really stick around after all that?

No one would stick around nor would Aldonza not be aware the money flowed because the dude thought he had a shot. Part of the reason I have difficulty (along with other stuff) believing she loves Cris.

Well, she sure thinks she does, which is plenty to cause drama. Romeo and Juliet knew each other for two minutes and suddenly the "relationship" was worth dying over. Maybe I'm just getting cynical in my middle age :p

This is kinda funny now (wasn't at the time) and reminds me of a European client I had that became quite enamored with me, I knew it, my boss knew it, my husband knew it and I was able to manage it till he started calling me at home and ignored any pretense of business in his request to see me. I went to my boss and requested the client be reassigned and I called him (the client) and told him why.

That's a little creepy, but at least you dealt with it instead of being in denial!

Great detailed recap lila.
Now: I don't think ally was referring to renato about being something else besides friends. I don't see her and him being anything else. She is still hot for cris. Thats gonna be a big mess, more than it already is.
Sev: O sev, you psychopathic maniacal murderer you. He has crossed over to the dark side. Actaully he was already there. He just signed the contract in simoneta's blood.
Unless he put weights in that box, it gonna floot up and get discovered. how is he going to be outsted does anybody have any ideas?

when he goes down he's going to splatter.
I wonder if mari will come clean to save eman's life. Her father could kill him, just because he's (Eman) not into her at all. All that pent up pain from lardo 's death, he's unleashing on poor emans body, witch was already been ruffed up from the robbery.

You can tell this story is about to come to an end its gettin messier & messier.
If a lie was a character, it would be up for an Oscar, cause that is what seems to be driving this show. Forget the love its suppose to be about, The lies are out doing that. well that's my take on things I might have some more later we'll see how I'm feeling the rest of the day. I hope its nice and cool on the patio.

Aldonza's dealing with it, just too late. I'm not even sure I'm mad at her for this. She told Ren straight up what was up and gave him chances to back out. Did she use him? Yeah. But somehow, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for him anymore. He knew the score and kept ignoring it. It would've been nice if she'd shown some remorse instead of laughing with Lola about how lucky she was to have her hubby and keep her boy-friend. She's had mean girl tendancies from jump. What saves her is she is actually the victim of an insane meglomaniac rapist and compulsive liars. But she's not a little girl and he's not a baby either. He's gonna get hurt and she's gonna have even more trouble than she already has. Eh. I shrug. I'm more for Cris being happy than Ren or Aldonza cancelling each other out with consequences of their actions.

Hey, Nina! You calls 'em like you sees 'em, girl:

If a lie was a character, it would be up for an Oscar, cause that is what seems to be driving this show. Forget the love its suppose to be about, The lies are out doing that.

And I don't know what Sev did before we met him, other than "slaughtering" other men's wives but he signed his contract with the dark side before God and man when he killed Padre Sixto in the church house! He's proving he's satan's faithful minion with all the other crimes and now the murder of poor Simoneta. How Lola does remind me of her with her readiness to confront no matter how big the oponent. Lola was ready to take on Sev when he came to Aldonza's that night looking for Cris and they had to hold her back. Poor Simoneta was like wise speaking her truth to the evil power of Sev whom she KNEW was capable of killing her but somehow she couldn't stop herself. May she finally find some peace!

Hella, I like this: What saves her is she is actually the victim of an insane meglomaniac rapist and compulsive liars. This is Aldonza. And by saying this I know you don't mean to say she's not responsible for her actions but she and several others are clearly victims in this tale, victims of the Lies, past and present, which cast a shadow over really everyone's attempt at love. Well, not everyone. As pointed out in that wonderful graphic someone did the other day, we DO have true love between Dom and Melesio; Irma and Uriel. . .is that it? Oh, Jock and Adelina's love is in the budding stage. . .or is it more like a smoldering ember?

But back to people being victimized we have Eman, Cris. . I don't count Lola: she's a victim of her own stupidity and impulsiveness.

Hella, how would you sum up Eman and Cris's victimization as you did above for Aldonza? That being said, my disclaimer is, again, I recognize that these people can break the chain of victimization and become victors in their lives and loves and that's why we watch these.

Lila - Thank you for recognizing that I'm not trying to give her a get out of jail free card. I mean what saves her from being just a soulless, mean-girl user in my view is that I don't think she's just calloussly, heartlessly using Ren. She has few, if any, other resources and she's told him the score multiple times, using fairly simple language. She hasn't lied to him. I think her punishment on his side will fit the crime or she'll get off light. She's might be up shit-creek with money/legal problems if he colors the professional with the personal (old shade: Rose Colored Glasses, new shade: Emerald Green in the Black Forest?), but this isn't anything he walked into blindly. He chose to put on sunglasses.

What do you mean how would I characterize them?

Cris is definitely a victim, but I think he's the one most fighting against it. His parents seem to truly love him, but unfortunately for him, they think showing love means controlling him and receiving love means his blind obedience. He's the picture perfect proof they can't point to and say that their marriage is fine. After all, haven't they raised a lovely, highly educated young man? Surely that's proof that Cande's not frigid, and Sev's not sterile and the Mendoza-Rivero line will continue on smoothly?

I think he's doing really well, given what he's been given, which is a lot of bs and not a lot of hints as to the truth. Why would he jump to the conclusion that his dad's a rapist and murderer? He knows Aldonza hates his dad, but that can be explained by the running her family out of town and having her land thing. He knows his dad hates Aldonza, but again: the land thing. He knows his mom hates Aldonza, but she's admitted that's because of the Sev/Rob affair. If he's ever noticed his dad's leering at Aldonza, it might plant a seed. Or he might chalk it up to his dad being a horny old goat who's not getting any from his mom. Aldonza's certainly never seemed to be afraid of Sev in Cris's presence, just disgusted and furious with him.

Talk about the crazy night Sev lost his arm and Ray died in a mysterious fire isn't raging through the streets of SL now, lord knows they love to jump on the newest gossip while it's fresh. So why would he wonder about that? Nothing in the way Sev and Cande treat E would make him think "oh that must be my dad's love child with my wife's late mother!" They treat him like Lola, an sometimes troublesome employee at best.

At worst he thinks his mom's hysterical and overractionary, and his dad's a stubborn, arrogrant cheater with with a power problem. And they're both crazy overprotective. There are A LOT of mysteries on all sides that Cris has to figure out and most he wouldn't even guess at, so I think he's doing ok for what he's had to deal with so far. The only thing I fault him with is flip flopping on Val and not thinking things through with Al, not that he was given a whole lot of choice, at least on the latter. Should he move out of his parents' house? Yeah, but given that he might lose his leg and possibly has no money, he's kind of screwed on that front right now. Should he have done it before? Yes, and he almost did, but he keeps getting hit on all sides, with barely time to take a breath.

Wow! Super analysis on Cris! Is this the tie that binds him and Aldonza unconsciously? Their victimization by their own parents? The only innocent parent in this mess is the late Raimundo. His only crime was falling victim to the twirling skirts and pheromones of Roberta. So really, Roberta, Sev and Cande are prime victimizers and if we add Eman in the picture, those are his demons as well but we add Hum and Pru with second generation victimizer Vile who adds her venom the the mix with Cris and Aldonza.

Thanks, Hella. I guess it's better to think of empowerment and how these three, Cris, Aldonza and Eman come out from the shadows of the past. It's difficult to think positively though, cause the hits just keep comin', don't they?

Aldonza will no more give up Renato than I'll stop dying my hair black. Silvia laid a guilt trip on her and next day she finds herself in Cris's room defending her relationship with Renato as he stood outside. All she did was dump her guilt on Renato instead of heading to church and a confessional. Feel bad for Silvia cause Renato will blame her.

I think Severiano is possessive of Cris, won't call it love, but a coveted legacy. Severiano married respectability in name and the living, breathing proof of that is Cris. Anything that challenges his hard fought respectability must be eliminated.

Renato knew that Sylvia and Aldonza were going to 'talk' about old times right before Aldonza told him she doesn't want to be friends anymore, don't tell me that Renato won't put 2 and 2 together and figure out what Sylvia and Aldonza really talked about.

Not a great analysis, just a long winded defense. I like Tofie's take on Sev's love even better.

you can bet soon as Renato sees Silvia there's gonna be another big argument. I still give props to Silvia because she could have really thrown Renato under the bus to Aldonza about hiding from her there was a way to confirm siblings without parental DNA, and she didn't. My guess this was on Cris's mind as he questioned Aldonza about her "friend" outside.

tofie - yah, I actually thought that's where Silvia was going with her convo, but she's loyal, to a reasonable point. I think this is a big part of why I don't really care about Aldie cutting him loose. She should've done it long ago and he straight up didn't tell her about the DNA issues, which he absolutely should've done as her lawyer.

You bet your life sev ain't sterile. He probably got offspring in far off regions that he will never know about, much less care about. Look how lovingly he treated simoneta and his unborn child, (don't it make you smile when you think of father's day, and sev)?:-D

But look, dosen't it seem like he (cris)should think "(what the hell is going on here? nobody catches this much hell for nothing). Don't he have a feeling about something not being right. Is he so nice that he's stupid? He don't even raise his voice. And being that age why didn't duck out of the way when his dad slaped him? That happened a while back.

Nina - He does. He said as much in that episode when Uriel beat up Sev. After Uriel left, Cris pointed out that Sev's calling everyone that attacks him (Rob, Al, Uriel) crazy was starting to ring false. Problem is, Cris isn't great with PI work. He knows something's up, and he wants answers, but he's not asking questions to any of the right people (really, he's just begging his parents to tell him the truth, hoping they'll break out of "love" for him).

It would be awesome if he got out of the hospital and started asking about Simoneta Saavedra's whereabouts, since he suspects half-siblings and knows she is/was his dad's lover. It could be simple and just go through Lola. But it would also be so interesting if they took a round about approach. He could ask Mel about her. Mel might hem and haw b/c of his history with S/V, but Cris might go looking for a horse contract since that was her cover, or return to the hotel in DF. Maybe she had some shopping shipped back to her San Miguel house or has visited Sev there in the past. In San Miguel, he could find out that Sev visits pretty often and has for years. Maybe even run across Flavia and Adriano. Later, visiting Joaq at his house, he might see a pic of Flavia and make a connection. He could start deliberately listening at doors like his parents.

But we'll probably have to rely on luck. Sigh. I wish TN good guys could be smart and calculating sometimes.

Amen, Hellashelle! The 3 o'clocker that went off several weeks ago, QA, had good guys who were smart and one major satisfying running joke was that the baddies were wrong about a major plot point/character in the story which helped bring them down in the end. I also wish they'd stop all this having the "good" folks shut down people who are trying to tell them the truth and the wide-eyed gullibility of LIES spun by the baddies! It's way old!

It's definitely more satisfying to watch the good guys keeping pace with the bad guys. I know everyone loved Cuando Me Enamoro, but I didn't love it because it was bad guys win win win, until the last 2 hour finale. I hate that.

Lila I loved your recap, but really loved even more your comment, “I HATE the mean girls! I just have this deep, rumbling rage when I see them plotting and smiling and smirking! Uuuuf!” I do too! Can the gals of Santa Lucia be any meaner? Really! Thanks so much for the fabulous recap, we needed you with this fast talking episode!

Hellashelle, I’m sooooo over Mari too! Writers, please don’t give wonderful Pato to her, that would be serious writer dereliction of duty!

Diva, if you are middle aged, I am a mummy!

I couldn’t focus on the “coffee table” float or non-float for thinking that Sev is never going to be able to drive his big truck away from the banks of that slippery river. He was parked two inches from the edge of a 12 foot (?) gushing waterfall. When he was heaving and hoeing, I thought that surely he and the truck would slip and follow the coffee table/box/ casket down the river to oblivion, and guess what, that would have been a good thing, except for the waste of a perfectly serviceable truck..

Grandson is great with a huge cast for his little finger, thank you Caraymates for your well wishes.

Maybe this has already been said, but I'm rewatching the episode and Lola brought it all on herself.

If she had just left it alone and not said anything to Mari in the shop, then Em would have gotten to Lola first.

Pero noooo, Lola wanted to get impatient and tell Mari what was up with Em.

Lola should have been more patient and should have trusted Em would do what he said.

Glad to hear the grandson is doing well, Sandy.

Sandy!! Praise the Lord for your grandson's sailing through finger fix up! Yaaay! Give him a big hug and kiss from us!

Thank you, darlin', for your kind words! You make an excellent point about where Sev was parked on that waterfall! Beanie time, or, that should would make a great commericial, you know those big, sexy, my truck is longer and stronger and can haul more than your truck" commercials! I love how everybody notices something different and it's so fun!

Sara! Hey, girl! Yep, you are sooo right about silly Lola and I did point that out in the recap. If the silly heffa could have just been secure enough in Eman's love and not feel the need to one up Mari, she wouldn't have crashed and burned like she did! I don't feel a bit sorry for her with her goofy ass! Next to mean girls, y'all, I hate stupid ones who jerk a good man around like a frickin' yo yo and believe every foul word that comes out of the mean girls mouths! Double UUUUUUuuf!

Sorry, Lila. I guess I didn't read carefully.

Yup. There it is. I mainly read the Sev parts. I suck.

Sara! No, you don't! Stop it! Please share some other things you note on the second viewing! The weekend and night is young!

I mainly just watched Solitario. He did indeed look like he was talking.

Solitario's a sweetheart! I'd listen to him talk any day over, say, Pru!

It would be nice if the good guy got curious about all the whispering of the bad guy. Its like the writers deliberately wrote the good guys to not be smart enough to want to know what the baddies are plotting

The baddies think of that, why not the good guys. It would certainly balance things out, but the writers obviously don't think that way. so we're stuck with somewhat dumb good guys. hopefully they will smarten up when Sev has killed enough people.

Lila, thank you for a most awesome recap, I'm just going to go home and delete the episode, I don't want to see E-man get his butt kicked over stupid Mari!

The awful thing is that Mari should know she is committing character assassination, in a small town like Santa Lucia word will get out about what E-man "did" and he will not be treated kindly, also, she just can't take back this lie so easily, no way will she cop to it, not when she accused him of (a) stealing from her (b) sleeping with her and then dumping her. What a cow. Someone get me a stick so I can hit her with it!

I've been trying to view this episode in its entirety but I'm not getting any clear playbacks. I still haven't seen the last eight minutes.

Emanuel can disprove Mari's lie with cell phone records. Why would he call her if she were with him in San Miguel?

No redemption for her. I thought I understood her because I had similar issues with a difficult brother who was my mother's golden boy no matter what, but the way Mari treats other people is inexcusable.

And it is way overdue for someone to say these things:

1. It's 2015 and most young women are not virgins at the altar
2. You need blood for DNA tests, not hair without the follicle.

And another thing: Did any of you watch Canaveral de Pasiones? I've been thinking about this for a little bit, so hear me out. In that novela, Julia our heroine is totally innocent of any wrong doing, as is her mother Margarita Faberman- Margarita died trying to keep her sister from running off with a married man, and everyone, EVERYONE said she was a whore, but she was not. Bad things happened and I was able to cheer for the main couple because I could see them moving on and being happy together.

I can't do that here. No one has clean hands, not Roberta, Candela, or Sev. I don't even know how the main characters could have healthy relationships with each other, let's make a list shall we:

Cris: Son of Sev and Candela
Sev: had affair with Aldonza's mother---->in part responsible for her fathers death--->guilty of sexual assaulting Aldonza -->father of Aldonza's long lost brother who:
was taken from his mother and family by Sev and Humberto who were following orders from Candela. Candela is responsible for making Sev take drastic actions to get rid of Aldi which ended up in the girls rape.
Sev: lover and killer of Simoneta/Viviana, how can Lola be friends with Cris when his father killed her baby brother and mother?!
E-man, how can he have a relationship with Cris when he got the short end of the stick by ending up as a guest in a home where no one loved him? I don't for a second believe that Humberto protected him from his bitchy wife and awful daughter!

How can Cris ever be friends with them? How can they look at him and not think about the awful things his parents did?

Word, UA, we've been pulling at overly tight beanies about the hair thing since Cris snuck into Aldie's room. But, since the results haven't come back yet, I'm holding out hope. It would be funny if after all the hair stealing, sample switching of the Mendozas, the results can back inconclusive because of the lack of follicle and PJ's illictly requested blood results cleared everything right up.

Gee, wouldn't it be great is he could just hop online and pull up his records? Too bad we don't live in a world with internet...wait a minute...

Seriously, I think that was part of the mugging - his phone was robbed. (shouldn't affect his onine account, but what do I know about these things)

Uriel and Hum are almost funny with this virgin situation (though Mari might well be a virgin, she's never said). Now Aldonza has good reason to be a virgin, and many women do make that choice. But I'll agree that TNs don't need to continue to villify the woman who doesn't come to the marriage bed "untouched." Of course, in a land and a medium in which the Catholic church plays so heavily, I suppose we shouldn't be too shocked.

Good points, Nina@9:25!

Hey, Eli! Thank you! Character assassination, indeed! So many have made excellent points about this sick "trick" that she played on Eman! It's far more serious than a trick and I hate the way she and Vile actually smiled about it! If she doesn't confess, Uriel and Irma are not likely to believe anyone against "daaarling Mari!" Is there any way someone can prove Mari was NOT in San Miguel?

Finally saw the last scene (after the computer overheated, shut down, and had to be restarted).

The most orgasmic reaction to committing cold-blooded murder was in Amor Bravio where Hissadora murdered a priest. She has Sev beat on that one.

Solitario is a very beautiful horse who will be worth a lot on the stud market someday. He also seems very sweet.

Did we catch it before that Camilo is Lola's uncle?

I am even more afraid now for Emanuel.

Oh, Hi, Urban I typed the above comment before I saw your comment of 9:40. Santa Lucia comes off as hicksville so many times, do you think they'd even bring up cell phone records? Amen to your ending points on virginity and DNA.

Eli -

On the one hand, there's some serious beanie tightening to be done all around.

On the other hand, Cris is not his parents. He's not Sev. He's not Cande. Honestly, I don't even blame Cande for Sev raping Aldonza, I blame Sev. Do I feel certain she won't give Aldie even a modicum of sympathy once she knows? Yes. But I'll hope I'm wrong until she shows otherwise and simply judge her based on the bsc things she really has done, which are more than sufficient to warrant a nice, Kansas farmhouse sized anvil. Cris friends have enough of their own shadows, I think, to be able to give him the benefit of the doubt too.

Aldie's hurdle is much harder, since we're supposed to believe that Cris and Sev look similar because they're father and son. That's a very different kind of mental hurdle to get past.

Problem is even if Eman pulls up cell phone records, do you really think hot headed Uriel and Lola will listen long enough to hear about it?

Was Uriel upset that some man might have taken Mari's virginity, or upset that some man used his daughter for sex and money and broke her heart? Didn't seem to me that it was a virginity thing.

Eli. Like your rundown. It's a hot mess, ain't it? Lies, betrayal, multiple murders, kidnapping, rape, character assassination, child abuse, arson, blasphemy. . .

Good gracious! It's a wonder the whole town doesn't burst into flames!

I think the ultimate point of the story with be that Aldonza, Cris, Eman, and Lola WILL be able to put aside the shadows of the past and NOT take grudges and hurts that their parents committed out on each other. That's what will show that they are different than their parents who were unable to separate their feelings about their perceived enemies from their enemies' children and grandchildren/great-grandchildren (in the case of Sever and Santuario).

Sandy, thanks for the update! I'm glad he's doing well. I hope that cast doesn't cramp his style too much :)

I think Irma would listen. She is the ultimate voice of reason in that family. She knows Mari isn't a perfect angel no matter what her name is. She may even realize that she and Uriel have to take some of the blame for it.

However, that will take time.

So now Emanuel will not be able to compete in the equestrian competition. I don't think this beating was fatal, but he will have broken ribs and we need to hope that doesn't lead to its logical next step, which is a punctured lung. That will need blood transfusions.

Cue Padre J's visit and a plea to a doctor for a blood test. Not Humberto, either (He can't be the only doctor in SL),, but he will end up looking like the ultimate coward when the DNA tests come back to tell us what we already know.

Can PJ just ask Aldonza for her signature on the DNA test request form and do one with E, without breaking his non-confession confession promise to Adelina?

And yeah, what is the deal with the doctor status in SL? Ok, so he's not a vascular surgeon and there's an ob/gyn somewhere pretty nearby, but who are the other doctor options? Why can't they just sue Sev for the DNA collection and get the other doctor to help? I'm so tired of this lack of resources and these all powerful villains!

So am I. He has to have an Achilles heel.

Cristobal and Aldonza are legal adults. In any non-corrupt court of law they could sue to force Severiano to surrender a blood sample for the test and that would be that. It would take care of all their problems about the Mendozas trying to break them up.

And yes, I think the padre could make that request of Aldonza. He already had suspected that Emanuel is her half-brother before Sev poisoned the confessional booth with the boasts of his crimes. The test would show the same mitochonrial DNA for Aldonza and Emanuel and different paternal DNA for Aldonza vs. Severiano.

Valeria can even be tested for the paternity of her unborn child at seven weeks although the test is likely to be more accurate later. However, this test is currently done in only four labs in the US (Mexican availability unknown).

Even if a doctor does the tests illegally, that can't invalidate the results. Aldonza is not Sev's offspring and Emanuel is. Science will have the last word.

The most common method for collecting a DNA sample is a mouth swab.

I don't think Uriel's anger had anything to do with virginity but the hurt (feigned) he saw on his daughters face and that a sweet talking slick willy, whom he had warned, hit it and quit it and took her allowance. Justifiable beat down by daddy had all that been true.

I don't care bout that horse but Emanuel could make a mint put out to stud.

I hope for mis planes sake the seed is in the ground already. Renato might withdraw funding. Was Aldonza off on her caprice?

What else is gonna befall our boys Cris and Emanuel. Hospitals, and jails and beatdowns, oh my.

Tofie--I don't care bout that horse but Emanuel could make a mint put out to stud.

You bad, girl! But you right!

What will befall our boys? I wish they would raise up outta Santa Lucia and get the hell away from Satan and the Harpies: Cande, Val, Pru (and I almost want to say Donnie and Lola)

The need a road trip, a chance to clear their heads and hearts, a place where there's not a target on their backs or any other body parts! Take Padre along, too!

Vivi, I agree, Chris, Aldi, Lola and Em will move on from the " La Sombra del Pasado," but Lola and Mari, with their passive aggressive personalities, have created a personal competition that will annoy the residents of St. L throughout the coming decades. They will be the opposing side cheer moms of anything and everything St, L. I have no hope of either of them developing a mature outlook ever. Neither have ramera personalities, so they'll be minus the affairs and resulting murders, etc,, and that is progress.

This tn should have been entitled ''The Sins of the Father...and the Mothers.''

Is this show ending in August ? If so, we will have to endure the baddies winning and the goodies wounded and clueless. Someone buy a vowel.

Hmmm...I am dreaming of anvils and endings...Maybe Vile as an unwed mother, but Irma would come to the rescue when the truth comes out that the daddy is the late/not so great Lardo. what else could we do to her?...maybe she falls out of bed and her IPad gets ruined. I see Pru's dirty laundry hung out in the town square. Hum divorces her, and she has to get a (shudder) j-o-b. ...there goes that fine wardrobe and all that free time to gossip and drink . Candy also would hate for her sins to be made public..so let's do that. Cris and Nana Dom both reject her. She is left alone and excommunicated with her pearls and faulty memories. And now Severed..I cannot even imagine a fitting reward for him.Did anyone notice a really big coffee table anywhere ? Maybe Candy finds out all his dark deeds and kills him , stuffs him into a coffee table, and he finally gets that waterfall he's always been wanting. FIN

Susanlynn - I, too, have been dreaming of anvils...

Hum and Pru are definitely getting divorced, fidelity doesn't always factor into financial settlements with divorce, so without a prenup, she might still be entitled to alimony. Unless, of course, our illustrious doctor lost a lot of his holdings and financial assets, maybe in legal fees or because they were seized by the government for aiding and abetting a murderer, kidnapping, etc? I imagine her in a screaming match with the disgraced Hum, who bursts in on Bible meeting. They air all the dirty laundry. Then, hurling insults at Hum and shrieking that Tomas loves her and they're running away together, she flings open the door to Tomas's room while everyone looks on, only to find him...consoling Val from the below humiliation.

It would be kind of awesome if Val could have a super public humiliation, but I think she's always been more important in her own mind that in SL. After all, it's not like she's got a posse of friends just begging to be her BFFs. Unless we count her social networks. How about a full circle deal? We endure a Val/Cris wedding, but of course, Cris says he's putting in for divorce as soon as the baby's born. Val alternately whines, pouts, threatens and smugly flaunts, but the paperwork's written and maybe even signed because of some financial promises or something. Then, at the Christening, to which everyone in SL is invited, PJ holds up the adorable baby boy and names him Alvaro Lagos (Alvaro meaning "truth speaker"). At the aghast expressions, Cris announces that due to the DNA results he ordered when Alvaro was born, it's been proven that he's Lardo Lago's son, but he's so glad he could put on this party for the noble and awesome Irma and Uriel to celebrate their grandbaby. It's the last big party he'll be throwing because his father aigned over whatever assets he had to Cris to avoid giving anything to Eman before fleeing the cops. Cris, being all noble, returned them to his half brother. His inheritance from Cande, who had to renounce it (see below), was all invested in Alcocer Farms. It was the least he could do since his father tried to steal her water or rengineer the flow or whatever. Now, he must beg everyone's indulgence: since he has just finalized the divorce that went through without a blip due to the baby clause in the prenup he did get before tying himself to Vile, he would like to take this moment, before the world to invite his one true love to stand before everyone so he can propose. But wait! Before he can propose, Aldonza wants to get down on one knee - both, even. She's never put herself on the line for him before, but before all of the town, she would like to apologize for being a crappy media naranja up to now, and swear that she will go all out every day from now until the end of time to show she loves him.

Where's Sev? He tried to get PJ excommunicated for the forgery or something and tried to get the church redone. In fleeing from the cops, he ran into the church, now under construction, and a huge marble Virgin Mary statue fell on him. It crushed his legs. They had to be amputated.

Yikes. I just creeped myself out with the Sev anvil. Am I being too harsh? Amputation is one of my worst nightmares, and Sev's already had one.

I'll worry about that later. Right now, I'm considering that since Cande has renounced her worldly goods and fled to a convent, she must spend all of her time scrubbing floors under the watchful eye of Sister Whoever it was that didn't like Aldonza.

WOW!!! Lila a bases loaded home run or an AA+++++ It doesn't matter hoe it's said, your weekend recap was pure genius. A great Saturday morning read to say the least.

The weekend is only half over and we have 136 comments already. This novela is entering into classic status I say and is leaving all others in the dust---and that's night after night, weekend after weekend.

What can I, or anyone say or add to that hasn't already been said by great commentators? It took me seemingly forever to wade through all the comments and there was some deep thought put down in words about this story.

A couple that stood out to me---Daisy wrote. We are watching an actor put together a
genius portrayal of a serial, demented, sexual deviant and murderer who hides right
in sight. Master class.

I liked Hellashelle's comment . She said---We know they stone people in the town square. Do they have stocks? I'll bring the rotting fruit. Yes, we are pretty upset
after Friday's broadcast.

I must add my own comment here for what it's worth. The E-man beat down looked very bad, especially when you take in the size difference of the two men, E-man being much smaller. I don't know what the result will be on Monday but I have seen far worse beatings where the victim is up and walking the next day with only a little red mark on his face. In novelas. you never know.

There has been much talk about how Sever got Simonita/Viviana in the box. Could he with only one arm do that? I say yes, he could have. I think that I could have done it and Sever is bigger and stronger than I am. There are at least two ways that it could have been done but either way, I'm sure that it is/was possible. Remember that Sever has his right arm which is the strongest and he does have a mans strength.

One way would have been to turn the box on its side and simply roll Simonita in and
then use leverage to upright it. Another way would be to lift the head part of the body and place it on the edge of an opened box. Then with the head/neck resting on the edge, pick up, lift up the feet part of her body and push it and let it fall inside. For sure, you don't try to pick up the whole body with one arm. I don't think that even a large strong man could, would be able to do that.

So much to say but it will have to wait till later.
the gringo

Wow, Hella! Thanks, we can all go home now. Hee Hee! Love your anvils except I want something worse for Cande but am not creative enough!

Brother Gringo! There you are! I appreciate ya, brother, I really do! Man, you and Hella are on fire with your graphic descriptions this morning, she of anvils and you of Sever's corpse relocation logistics. YIKES! :)

Yes, we've great comments on this novela. The dumbest? Mine in predicting Simoneta would take down Sev. She was no match for Satan's evil. Maybe I should just comment on the landscaping and house interiors from here on out!

Sandy, I was among those who thought Simoneta might be instrumental in Sev's takedown. She certainly didn't know Sev, nor does Cande and, from his demeanor during this latest murder even he, himself, is plumbing unknown depths of depravity!

One more thought about putting a corpse in a box. Could a one armed man do it? Rethinking the method. Could a women be picked up and tossed in? No, but especially a small petite lady like Alejandra Robles Gil wouldn't be much of a problem. A little larger woman like Simonita? Yes probably with a little effort. kneel down and wrap your arm around the body. then using your legs, thigh and hip for support, lift the body until the height of the box is reached , then drop it in.

Ok guys, I know what your thinking. No, I am not a serial killer or an expert at disposing of bodies. I'm just using logic, that's all.

By the way---I did think, how did that box get in there so fast? You guys answered that thought for me. Now another thought/question. Who in the world has a big box--
coffin look-a-like in their living room being used as a coffee table? Odd wouldn't you say? And---didn't that box have a lock on it. Didn't Sever pull on the closed lock?

Also, I didn't think that Sever actually wanted to or tried to kill her. Yes he was angry after the yelling and he roughed her up and knocked her over the couch but she actually fell and hit her head on the floor which killed her. It didn't look to me like Sever meant to actually end her life. I think that he was trying to scare her real good so that she would just leave town and not come back and the accidental
head striking the hard floor just was the result of rough action.
the gringo

the striking on the hard floor, yes. the strangulation, not so much.

Couldn't the discovery of Sim's body and all the things connecting Sev to her also be considered "instrumental" in taking him down?

good point, Sara. Taking him down, even after the fact

That's what I'm thinking. The box will be discovered eventually and Lola will be able to identify it.

If I didn't have the tech issues with viewing I wish I were working on this series. What a great Film Noir read I would give you guys.

It's amazing what a little caffeine can do in the morning. I came up with the following while having iced coffee at Panera:

-- In view of Satanic Sev's high on committing what he thinks is the perfect crime, if Emanuel ends up in the same hospital will Sev try to force humberto to kill him through medical negligence? Will that be the final straw for Hum, considering what else is already on his conscience?

-- How long before Sev abuses the confessional again? This is typically a serial crime. I predict that he will boast of this murder, but leave the rape of Aldonza for last because of how seriously that will rile the padre.

-- How long before Aldonza finds out about her mother having killed her father?

-- Lola is one of three witnesses to connect the wooden box to Sev. She should put herself in protective custody yesterday (Is that even possible in Mexico?).

-- Joaquin needs to tell Emanuel about the candy house and whom he got it from.

No predictions, but the following conversations need to be overheard:

-- Mari and Val about the former's entrapment of Emanuel (by either Irma or Uriel)

-- Sev and Humberto about Emanuel (by Cristobal)

-- Sev and Humberto about the murder of Padre Sixto (by Padre J and Candela, for different reasons)

-- Pru and Val about Abelardo being the sperm donor (by Humberto and Cristobal, preferably at the same time)

On second thought, how would Candela feel about that last one?

gringo, remind me to give LA a wide berth, I'm all of 98 lbs soaking wet and could fit in a big suitcase.

Since all it takes is a tip from an anonymous caller to jail someone, perhaps Lola can call deputy dog and tell what she saw, if Simoneta's body is ever found. I also thought it odd, Severiano didn't have his wallet when the popo pulled him over, could he have dropped it in that box when attempting to cram Simoneta in?

That would be the most damning evidence possible. We'll see if he doesn't find his wallet in the next episode or so and see if there's a flashback.

Eli- you are such a gentleman you want to" hit her with the stick, I want to beat the hell out of her with it. I know thats not ladylike.well a real lady wouldn't put a mans life in danger, a man she claims to love.
Urban- good point, but sev owns everybody in that town, and judges and lawyers, doctors all seem to be afraid of this monster. They would have to be fenced in iron to go up against him.
Sandy in TN, don't count yourself out. The dead do talk during autopsy time. If the body floats up something could be discovered. Sominetta to the rescue!!!
If they gave Oscars for tns stars that guy thats playing sev , he'd win hands down. Sev and JR ewing could satans twin sons. Lot of anvils coming his way.

I agree with an earlier comment that if Alexis Ayala doesn't win the Best Villain trophy this time I'll have a fit. He's really knocking it out of the park.

An autopsy on Simonetta will show single-handed strangulation and provide DNA on the fetus. There is no way this goes undiscovered.

But I can't remember who said it, I would DEARLY LOVE to see Sim haunting Sev's ass.

As psychotic as he is, he could really start to see those victims he murdered, padre sixto, ray (he is just as guilty as if he pull the trigger himself), sim and anybody else that has yet to be discovered. might as well throw Roberta in there too.

Gringo is back.
I agree with Cathyx that Sev's look was not of sexual gratification. (they didn't have sex that night) It was a look of relief that his one big problem of Simona messing up his life was now finally over. The interesting thing about it is that this may prove to be the start of his undoing. If the body is found soon enough, the
one hand strangulation marks on Simonita's neck would still be visible although it was the her head hitting the floor that actually killed her. At least that's the way it looked to me.

Did Lola actually look into the bed of Sev's truck? I'm not sure. She was standing near the truck talking to him but did she actually see the box/coffin at that time?
I don't remember actually seeing her looking in. She did however see Sev leaving Simona's place and Lola had tried to call her earlier but got no answer so it wouldn't be hard to put two and two together especially after Simona/Viviana comes up missing. Is Lola now in danger?

I also agree with Cathyx that Sev should have just left her there and got out pronto
Hey! I don't know anything about it? Someone must have came in after me, tried to rob her and then killed her.

Tofie---Cande, diarrhea of the mouth. True

Hellashelle---Great analysis on Cris at 3;21

When Aldonza finally got in to see Cris---After the I love you's the very next thing that she should have said was---I have been here every day trying to get in to see you and have been blocked every time by your mother, your father and also by Dr. Humberto. Cris needs to know that Aldonza has been kept away from him. Aldonza--
I tried, I tried and tried and was physically barred each time. Cris needed to hear that.

Back to the murder---Sev looked relieved but his problems are only just beginning. Not a spoiler just a hunch but the body will somehow be found. Water diversion for the crops?
the gringo

Gringo - I think the water diversion/body discovery would be sweet justice and give life to SandyinTN's theory.

Totally agree with you on Aldonza's visit. Still not sure why we didn't get to see more of her struggle to get in in the first place.

Lola did see the box. She asked Sev about it and he told her it was her mom's stuff that she requested be sent to her when she "left" SL.

Thanks, but I think it's a crappy analysis. I'm just trying to defend him. I don't think he's as dumb as we make him out to be on the Patio.

A couple more observations about Sev's disposal of Simoneta's body...

I remember a coworker scolding me for using my feet to scoot a box of paper into place instead of picking it up...he said that was a good way to get a hernia.

I agree that there's no way the box stays sunk. I'm surprised he chose water as the means to hide his crime when he's always had such good luck with fire before.

Did the Patio think Cris was dumb? (seriously, I can't keep up.)

I'm sure there are and have been stronger galans, but Cris is doing OK. He could put up more of a fight maybe, but he *is* trying.

He's worth defending, hellashelle. He didn't call Aldonza a slut in front of her whole family. He's ok in my book.

He doesn't lack intelligence, he just keeps opting to set his brain aside and make decisions with his easily-manipulated heart.

I think he's working on that. And as much as I hate that things like "He didn't call Aldonza a slut in front of her whole family," actually need to be taken into account in judging his character, yes, that is indeed refreshing that he hasn't done that himself and he doesn't allow anyone else to do it in front of him.

He's not the greatest friend, and that's definitely something that bothers me, but a lot of people on this show who claim to be "friends" also tend to treat each other badly at one time or another, so he's not the only one.

And the whole crappy friend thing also annoys me mainly because that's just bad writing. That's my issue with the Aldonza/Renato relationship. It's crappy writing. Not an Aldonza character flaw.

I love that Cris won't let anyone call her a slut in front of him.

Wow, how low we have sunk that we're happy Cris hasn't called Aldonza a slut or let anyone else call her one. That should just be expected without saying so, lol. Even if she weren't the love of his life, just sayin'.

5Ft, good thought about Sev burning the box instead. All I thought was he wouldn't have been able to bury it with only one arm holding a shovel. And he couldn't cut her up into small pieces either since he needs someone to cut up his meat for him. That doesn't leave a lot of options to get rid of a body.

You would think the non-slut shaming would be an obvious requirement for a galan, but that behavior has really become the rule and Cris is the exception.

With nearly everyone in SL calling Aldonza a slut, and they haven't come up with anything else, it stands out Cris is one that never has, not even a sl.... He also isn't some wacko jealous nut, partly because he trust Aldonza completely when she tells him something and I think he's got reason to question his wife's relationship with Renato. Closest outburst of jealously was a snide comment when he saw Aldonza and Renato together on the street but Renato escalated that with a shove, kinda proving Cris's point. He also broke off an engagement a few weeks before the wedding day, this after not seeing Aldonza for several years, he didn't try to play either girl, he made a decision and jumped. I even give him props for the ultimatum he gave Aldonza and believe had she not agree to marry him he would have left town and not marry Val.

I don't understand why he still stays with his parents. He's fought with both, clearly lost respect for them and even if he wants to work there could take a place in town. Plenty of drama avoided by not answering the door

I know, it's sad, but Cris ought to be thanking Pablo Martinez Negrete and Diego Cacares for making him look good before he even appeared on our screens.

This could be the beginning of his(sev) undoing. And cande would be embarresed before the whole town. I can't wait to see that. She'll deserve every shameful humiliating moment that she has coming.
And there will be many. Hahahaha!!!!!!

They always talk about what a gossippy little town this is, but somehow nobody's saying' nothin' about Padre J refusing Communion to Cande? How is she not humiliated already?!

Gringo, plenty of people have antique chests (i.e. wooden boxes) for coffee tables, in fact, I have two myself.

A thought......Chris and Aldi have many, many serious inherited problems. If they were oozing giggles and chemistry, we would think that they are out of touch with reality, that they are just silly kids who don’t realize the seriousness of their situation. I think that they are just where they need to be, handling the slings and arrows of the Sombras that they were born under, yet feeling moments of hesitation (Aldi). They have a right to be hesitant and confused. Maybe the patio would be quicker and smarter, but we have the advantage of knowing everything.

Hella, yes, I would be satisfied if Sim takes Sev down from her watery grave, thanks for a generous reinvention of my original idea!

Sandy- You have two, huh? So, if you suddenly disappear from the blog...

Hehe Kat, great point, the galan bar not very high. On Lo Imperdonable you also have a galan that believes to his core his wife is a gold-digging slut.

Yikes Vivi, I live near a creek too!

Severed made a hasty decision when he chose to dispose of his latest victim at the waterfall. He must have forgotten all those engineers he sent there to divert the water supply, but then, murdering someone probably messes with one's decision making skills. I am hearing ''50 Ways to Leave Your Lover'' in my mind now.

It would be fun if Sim's box ends up clogging up the river, causing water to back up and flood, and that's how Sev is outed.

"Sandy- You have two, huh? So, if you suddenly disappear from the blog..."
Vivi - ROFLOL!!!

"I don't understand why (Cris) still stays with his parents. " The boy is soooo co-dependent, that's why. It is also a plot propeller. ;-) The kid needs to grow up. But --- if he moved out, his parents would fire him from whatever-he-does-at-the horse ranch, and he would have no money to pay rent. Oh, wait, that makes too much sense. Where is my beanie hat???

If Humberto does the autopsy, it is guaranteed that nobody will ever know how Sim died. Was Padre Sixto autopsied? Seems like forever since he died.

In another novela I will not name the villain murdered his lover by breaking her neck, then he threw her body into the river weighted down with stones. She was found two weeks later by a pair of peons taking a swim on their day off.

The wooden chest could resurface. He will regret not setting it on fire.

I was actually wondering about the angle of his parked pick-up at the waterfall's edge. That looked very risky unless he has parking breaks fit for a garbage truck.

I don't know if Humberto did a full autopsy, but he did enough to know that the "heart attack" story Sev was trying to tell him was BS.

Susanlynn, I keep trying to make it rhyme, but the closest I can get is "Make sure she's gone, Don."

Humberto did the autopsy on Padre Sixto and submitted a false report. He did not feel good about this.

Sev had Hum's back to the wall. Had he not done that he would have had no place in SL.

Kat..yeah..I wanted to add a few clever verses, but I did not want to take time away from the goggle search I am conducting for Season two of Outlander which I have become obsessed with. I had trouble thinking of names to rhyme. All I could come up with was , ''Put her in a box , Fox...push her over the falls, Paul. Yeah, poor, I know. Remember when we were doing hiakus for LM ?

Regarding Cris not moving out, I am always amazed when my students discuss American lifestyles in class that in many , many countries, if you never marry, you never move out of your parents house.

If you never marry, you never move out of your parents house.

Ewwww. That's a special kind of hell right there!

Sandy in TN---An antique chest coffee table? Well what do I know? Now that I think about it, it sounds like it would be great in the right kind of surroundings but I have never seen one used in that way.

If Cris moved out, Daddy probably would cut off his credit card and stop supporting him. Not an impossible situation to overcome but we're talking about Cris here. He is very dependent on his family. Could he go to work on a nearby ranch? Yes, if Sever allowed the neighboring rancher to hire him but that would be doubtful.

How long before Lola puts two and two together?

One more thing---It has been said earlier that cell phone records could be checked to back up Mari's story. Her parents believe her and wouldn't go to those lengths.
the gringo

I guess that would mean you never become an adult.

LOL Yes you are right but I just can't see Cris moving out. For sure if daddy and mommy dearest want him to stay put. Actually I think that we all would like to see Cris grow up and become independent.
the gringo

Here is my antique chest used as a coffee table.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/52446476@N04/18629246628/in/dateposted-public/

I can't see that Emanuel or anyone having the where-with-all to do a phone record check. they can't even google the proper way to take a DNA sample.

cathyx - so true! I was thinking the same thing about them thinking to do a phone record check.
Love your antique chest!

Thanks Doris, but I'm not sure a grownup would fit in mine.

Cathyx- Nice chest! (No double entendre intended.) Glad it's not adult body sized.

Cathyx, your chest is beautiful! Unfortunately, I have one with the original paint like yours, (red in my case) but mine is just large enough to cram Sim's or my body in! Oh dear...

Thanks Vivi, but my other chest is, lol.

Sandy, I've seen much bigger chests in antique stores. But Simona's is very large, I've never seen one that big.

Yes, Cathyx, Sim's chest/coffee table/ coffin was much larger than any of the antique ones I've seen. Maybe she got it at Restoration Hardware, Mexico City, they have big scale furniture!

Maybe she got that chest at MetaMart? is that the name of our telenovela shop next to the Patio?)

During '' Fuego la Sangre, '' we had a shop named ''Crap from Afar.''

Susanlynn Sunday 6:01 PM: Ha, ha, ha ... as soon as I read "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" this popped into my head: Don't cut 'er in half, Sev."

Ok, some of these depend on pronounciation. And some are just a big stretch, but:

Cut him off cuz he's randy, Cande
Discover it was all a crock, Joaq
Tell the truth to all of them, Em
Ignore rather than say hola, Lola
Use him only for funds-a, Aldonza?
Fail to use your frontal lobe, Rob
Catch her in flagrante, Ray
Be a hypocritical shrew, Pru
Just be characteristically dumb, Hum
Tell her Al's the one you miss, Cris
Take up with an old pal, Val

Sev...?
Everything you do causes harm, One Arm

LOL, Hellashelle!

If Sev is going to start crumbling after this crime, it will be a slow disintegration, which should give Candela a real chance to see she's living in a real madhouse... as only the second most dangerous inmate.

Hellashelle, this pegs them all and so funny

Yo go, Hella! Pretty darned good!

;D

Pru and Hum's lines are sublime.

I got it!

Take her out like a Soprano, Severiano!
