La Sombra del Pasado #123 (Mex 126) 8-7-15 Valeria the Skankster Strikes Out and Sev's Anvils Line Up!

We begin with the end of the conversation at Cande’s bedside where Cris asks her upfront if she was an accomplice to the lie that Sev told about how he lost his arm.  He asks if she knew that Sev did not loose his arm in an accident with a plow or some such but rather that Raimundo Alcocer hacked him with a machete.  Cande says she didn’t know.  She always suspected his story but she didn’t want to know the details or become involved in such a disturbing event.  Cris takes Cande’s hand.  He shares his fear that he is losing the respect he had for her and Sev forever, he feels so deceived and betrayed.  Cande says she would do anything in her power to change how he feels but she cannot defend Sev because she doesn’t know what his real thoughts and motives are.  Cande swears she loves Cris with all her heart and it hurts her deeply this abyss that has grown between him.  Cris drops her hand and leaves her side, he is unmoved and unconvinced and leaves her room with his single tear still in place.  Ah, Candela, for once you tell the truth [she DIDN”T know how Sev was really severed] and your beloved Cris doesn’t believe you.

PadreJ and Aldonza talk at ES.  PJ is concerned that Eman is not there.  Aldonza thinks he’s exaggerating:  Eman can’t be with her 24/7 as if he’s her body guard!  Padre relents but insist Eman have more of a presence with her.  He tells her of his plan to do a mass for Adelina, Raimundo and Roberta and convinces her to not leave Roberta’s remains alone in the church:  if her own daughter can’t forgive her, how does she expect anyone else to?  She agrees.  Their remains will be together and he will do the mass before he leaves Santa Lucia.  She would like the mass to be private and absolutely agrees that Eman will be there.  Aldonza asks if the results from Adelina’s autopsy are back.  PJ is sure they are but he doesn’t know the details but will follow up for sure.

Pato is trying once again to have a pleasant moment with his girl, Lola, but as usual she is distracted.  He is talking about the brazen velorio crashing Sev did and she’s flashing back to when Mari tells her she is hurting Pato and not to play with his feelings.  Exasperated he gets up to end the one-sided coffee klatch:  they don’t see each other that much and when they do, she’s off in a cloud somewhere!  She asks him not to go:  she really cares for him because he is good and kind and patient with her and she will do her best to give him all the love he deserves.  How romantic and haven’t we heard this line before?  Get an app, Lola, and push the button for the next time you’re dissing Pato like this!

A bit later PJ tells Eman personally that he wants him to stay close to Aldonza.  Eman agrees and hastens to tell him that something horrific has just happened.  He tells him about the body found in a trunk that two boys were struggling with near the river bank.  Eman doesn’t know who it was and the body so badly decomposed, he couldn’t tell if it was a man or a woman.  The trunk had been under water for a very long time.  PJ wisely cautions Eman NOT to tell Aldonza anything about this, she is still suffering from the death of her aunt and there’s no need to upset her.  PJ reiterates that Eman is to be with her as much as possible.  Eman asks what is he afraid of?  Severiano Mendoza.  He doesn’t want that man near her to molest or hurt her anymore!   PJ is especially nervous with what Eman just told him.  Eman doubts “that man” had anything to do with it.  Maybe not, but the body was found too close for comfort!

Back at his office now, Mari asks Pato how things went with Lola.  She knows he’s lying when he says it went well.  She tells him it’s time he faced the truth.  He knows, but he can’t think about it now.  Mari uses this as a reason to lay a full frontal hug on him as Renato comes in looking for Silvia.  Pato tells him she’s gone on a picnic with Tomas.

Eman brings his things back to the room at ES where he will now be living.  Aldonza is with him and thanks Eman for returning to ES to live with her.  No.  If anyone should thank God and thank Life, it is him.  She is glad they are together and now they can work together in the business.  He can even raise his own horses if he wishes.  Now Eman is distracted.  He is thinking of Lola.  What is she going to think when she finds out he’s living here again?  Well, Aldonza thinks that she will feel okay when he clears things up with her.  Clarifying things with her is hard when she preferred to believe Mari’s lies.  She sits on the bed and tells Eman that Humberto is going to put ES in his name.  Notice that Hum’s plan was to put it in both their names but she has already decided Eman should get it all.  Of course Eman believes that is not fair and he does not want anything that comes from “that man.”  Well, they can pay him for it if it makes him feel better.  That’s okay, but he thinks SHE should be the owner.  She asks for his hand, she needs it.  Awww.  Now this filial love is so touching and heart-warming!  Both deserve it!  Oh!  Lola enters the room.  Aldonza tells her Eman is going to live with them and Lola struggles to keep from breaking out in a face-splitting grin as that song with the girl singing in a baby voice swells in the background.  Who IS that?

Tomas and Silvia tool around Santa Lucia on his reconditioned Motorbike of Love!  They take in a panoramic view of Santa Lucia from the Church bell tower, each appreciating the beautiful vista even more:  Tomas because this was the site of a kind of rebirth when Padre saved his life and Silvia because of being reborn with the gift of sight!  Ahhh!

Eman has invited Vero to dinner.  We share their intimate table for two and I, for one, enjoy Eman’s finely chiseled and beautiful face as he profusely thanks Vero for all she and Don Tonio have done for him.  She knows this is not only about thanks, but goodbye.  He thinks she can read minds but she knew from the first time she met him he was crazy in love with Lola.  Vero doesn’t want to come between them.  In addition to Lola she knows he has lots of unfinished business in SL.  Even though he doubts he and Lola will get very far, she even encourages him not to give up so easily.  He thanks her again:  She is an angel and she and Don Tonio have been very special people in his life.  Vero asks him to kiss her for the last time so it will be the last memory she has of him.   Eman looks deeply in her eyes for a very long moment, takes her face in his hands and firmly but gently presses his lips to hers and they are lost for an even longer moment in a passionate and poignant kiss.  I’m sorry to sigh so much tonight but. . . .Ahhhhhhh!

RPC time folks because I’m a judgmental prude and I despise what happens next.  Sev feasts on the sight of Vile’s body through her, I’m sure purposely left open door, as she stands at the foot of her bed in her nighty.  She invites him in, he knows where this is going and asks if she is trying to wiggle out of the pact they made to get ES.  Vile thinks Hum will come around.  Sev wants one good reason why he shouldn’t tell Cris the truth about the baby she’s carrying and kick her out.  Oh, he doesn’t want her to leave.  He’ll have ES and in the meantime he can have her, too.  They slime each other’s faces and fall on the bed and you know what came next.

Jock cries alone in his living room.  Cutie Pie little Ray wonders why he’s sad and he sends the cherub off to bed, not to worry.  Flavia is still playing the solicitous and concerned wife.  Jock ain’t having it, he wants to be alone.  She leaves.  He sobs.

Eman and Aldonza do some more bonding outside in front of ES.  He joins her where she sits alone, in the dark, on the front lawn.  I know.  I know.  Aldonza, understandably, is vocalizing her deep grief and confusion over the loss of Adelina.  Eman tenderly tells her they have to accept it and go through the pain until it has done its work and with time, the healing and acceptance will come.    He tries to convince her to go in.  No.  She doesn’t think “that animal” will come around so soon:  it would be too obvious.  Eman asks if she thinks “that man” had something to do with Adelina’s death.  Aldonza can’t get it out of her head, but like always, they won’t be able to get the proof.  Eman thinks one day he will slip up and they’ll get him.  He is so proud of her how she has stood steadfast and unafraid in the face of all that has happened, she has stayed right there in that house:

“Maybe I’m crazy for staying in this house.  This house has been the site of some horrific things:  here you were born and taken away from my mother and here that bastard. . . .”

“What?”  Eman asks.  Aldonza answers never mind and they go into the house.

Cris is feeling way down in the dumps and has come to the Church seeking some solace and peace in the hushed and darkened sanctuary.  PJ approaches and sits with him.  He understands but feels so hurt and desperate that Aldonza sees him as an extension of his father and is beginning to loathe him as well.  He is also tortured by his mixed feelings about Sev.  Cris intellectually understands that Sev is despicable but he can’t forget who he is, his father. That keeps him from turning his back on him forever.  Padre understands.   He can’t handle it and he can’t take it anymore.  The best he can offer is a comforting arm on Cris’s shoulder.

Here is another upchuck-provoking scene with Vile and Sev.  She tells him she loves him, emphasizing the word Tio.  Dominga sees Sev leaving Vile’s room.  He lays his best I’m the boss what the hell you lookin’ at look on her.  Dominga goes off to take Cande a pitcher of water to take her medicine.

Well, tis the night for observing luscious bodies through open bedroom doors.  Now Lola is the leering one.  It’s kind of funny:  though she tries to smile lightly, her eyes smolder and she almost needs a hankie to wipe the drool.  Or is that me?  Anyway, he modestly dons a sleeveless T and invites her in.  She gets it out of him that he and Vero decided to break up.  She also learns that Vero and Don Tonio are leaving SL.  Satisfied, Lola turns to leave, Eman calls her.  She crosses his bed on her knees and moves in close to him.  He thanks her.  She smiles and backs away, dismounts the bed and attempts to leave.  He calls her again; he asks her pardon him for being a jerk to her (at the cantina that day when he was drowning the shock of being Sev’s son).  She accepts, face to face and in kissing distance, she tells him good night and to rest well.  Her eyes and lips are asking to be kissed but she leaves and closes the door.  Outside she cheers silently, doing a little happy dance and then goes into her room until she hears crying. .   It’s Aldonza, sobbing in her room.  Lola decides to respect her privacy and goes back to her own room across from Eman’s, blowing him a kiss before entering her room.

Dom gives the neck brace coordinated Cande her medicine.   Cande has been thinking about Raimundo Alcocer and asks Dom if she knows exactly how he died.  She knows what everyone else knows, that Ray crashed into the barn, his truck burst into flames, killing him.  Cande might have been told this but at the time she was worried about Sev and his arm.  Our upfront Dom tells Cande that she just saw Sev leaving Val’s bedroom.  Cande plays it cool and doesn’t react until Dom leaves and then she has this priceless,  horrified/WTF expression.  Yah.  Ain’t it funky now!

Dom gets back to the kitchen and finds Mel trying to remember what the name of Marga’s (Candy House laldy) old beau was.  He’s got it!  Arnoldo Medina!  He wants to know what happened to that great love but he can’t ask Marga about it.  That would be an indiscretion.  They decide to set Lola to the task.

Val shows up at ES  as Aldonza, Eman and Lola are leaving.  Don Camilo is with them.  Aldonza asks what she is doing there.  With a chuckle she says is sure isn't to express condolences for her aunt!  She sneers at Aldonza asking what did she do to get Hum to sign over ES to her; she must have gone to bed with him!   Lola wants to rip her a new one.  She warns her if she and Eman accept ES they will suffer the consequences and she would rather DIE than let them take what belongs to her and her son!  Eman fires back that she has never cared about ES!  Eman tells her she can't come here and yell at them and he orders Don Camilo to put her out.  Camilo has to physically (no, he didn’t hurt her in her delicate state) remove her from the premises.

Back at Hell Hole Central Cande has “examined” Vile's nightie and bed and put two and two together.  She tells Sev she knows they were together last night and it’s time for Vile to go home.  Sev agrees:  it’s not seemly for a supposedly decent girl to be living in the same house as the father of her unborn child.   Why does he say “supposedly decent”?  She asks.  Well, isn’t she pregnant out of wedlock?  Cande agrees and will tell her she has to leave as soon as she reappears.

PJ talks to Aldonza in the Church.  She lets PJ know that Jock has been told about the mass.  That’s good.  He is just heartbroken about Adelina.  Speaking of heartbroken, PJ  tells her Cris is in a very bad way because he thinks she is starting to hate him.  Aldonza doesn’t hate him but it’s an impossible love like that of her Tia and her father.  Cristobabl is the love her life and always will be.  Yah.

Vile finds Sev in his study and tries to brag about having just raised her leg to piss all over Aldonza about ES and tries to recall last night’s debauchery by cozying up to him and stroking and trying to kiss him but Sev ain’t into it.  The jig is up!  He is NOT going to cover up her lie anymore, he’ll give her time to get rid of the baby; end of story!  But wait, doesn’t he want her to keep Aldonza at bay?  No, he’ll be in charge of that.  He is not going to let her anywhere near his son, she is not the woman for Cristobal!   Vile is shocked!  Does he mean that what happened between them last night meant nothing?

“Yeah, it just confirmed for me that you’re a whore who is not worth the air she breathes!”  She tries to slap him, he strong arms her as Cande enters  and asks what’s happening.  He was just telling Vile is time for her to go home and she understands perfectly.  Vile does her best flounce out of the room.

We join the mass for the Adelina, Ray and Roberta as it ends.  Cris enters the church or either was there and moves closer to Aldonza who senses his presence and turns to look at him.

Sev chews El Mudo out about something to do with the horses that I don’t quite get.  What’s important here is that Sev assigns his most recent lackey, Javier, to watch and report on Aldonza’s every move.  Jacinto walks by as Sev is paying Javier and afterwards Sev gives their departing backs a strange look.  I hope Javier is working undercover with the cops.  Wouldn’t that be sweet?

Now then!  The Chief Medical Examiner is reporting to Det. Incompetente on the autopsy results on Simoneta’s body!  It was a woman.  She died after being hit on the head and what’s more.  She was pregnant.  Det. Incompetente es impactada!  He is stunned!

Lola goes to talk to Marga and unabashedly asks about her love affair with Don Arnoldo Medina.  We are not privy to the details as the audio fades as Dona Marga holds forth.  Lola is all up in it!

Finally, Cande sits alone in her living room and is startled by Dom who has returned from the mass.  It was very beautiful.  Cande thinks it’s outrageous that Roberta was included in the mass.  Well, PJ wanted to pray for their souls before he left. . . .uh oh!  PJ is leaving without saying goodbye to Candela!  Cande freaking freaks out!  Sev overhears and yes, has the nerve to ream her out about being in love with Jeronimo, I mean red-faced, veins popping, spit flying and everything.  YES!  YES!  Cande admits it, she loves Jeronimo and was married to him while she was in love with him and will love him until the day she dies.  Sev steps forward and decks her with his mighty right arm, Cande goes flying to the floor where she grabs her neck in pain and shakes with disturbing, seemingly seizure like quaking as Dom looks on in horror!

Good evening, friends! Hope you enjoy my retelling of tonight's events. Hope it's not too long. I think any episode at this point is a good one and we got something of a break from the high drama of this past week. Yes, I got the Vile/Sev scene. It's all right, I got some good barbs in on both of them. So, enjoy. Hope some of y'all will come by even tonight to chat a bit.

Have at it!

Oh holy hell you took one for the team tonight! Thank you! I've been stalking waiting to for the recap so I could tell you that. Now let me go read.

Loved it, Lila! I've been accused of being a judgemental prude so I will (ironically) not judge you. I don't know how you got through that scene with so much class. I would have been pulling out all the slut vocabulary. Blech.

In addition to being a judgemental prude, I'm also a heartless bitch and I quite enjoyed watching Sev tell Val that her piece of well used ass actually wasn't all that and no, he didn't need her services any more.

Still not on the Lola- Em ship.

You hope it's not too long? Heavens, no! Never.

Lila, your recap was marvelous and brimming with delicious detail and insightful comments.

"Get an app, Lola, and push the button for the next time you’re dissing Pato like this!" and "reconditioned Motorbike of Love" were excellent but my favorite was "... seeking some solace and peace in the hushed and darkened sanctuary though she tries to smile lightly, her eyes smolder and she almost needs a hankie to wipe the drool. Or is that me?"

I took grim satisfaction that Val's machinations were not effective and that she was dismissed almost immediately. She is a terrible person but the truth is that her evil deeds are overshadowed by those whose cruelty has been festering for much, much longer - Sev and Cande.

Proud that Dominga told Cande that Sev had "visited" Val. It certainly did not take her long to put the obvious facts together, did it? Throwing her love for the Padre in Sev's face was courageous and she paid dearly for it with a vicious attack. I know I should be ashamed for feeling no pity for her, but I am reserving that emotion for those who genuinely deserve it.

I like Eman and Lola together and look forward to their reuniting which hopefully isn't far away. Eman/Alex's acting has been excellent - he emotes honestly and with purity.

I do want Aldonza and Cris happy but they have been apart far more than they've been together and the great love we'd hoped for has not materialized. With each episode, their being together in the end in view of all that Sev has done renders the possibility more hopeless.

Initially, I liked the idea of Tomas and Silvia. Now, I truly like the couple. Truly opposites, their attraction is palpable and she seems so happy.

Thank you so much Lila.

Diana

Sara, Val even turned Sev's stomach. Rejected right out of the gate.

Fabulous.

Diana

To quote hellashelle - it was AWWWE-SOME!

I really liked the cream and blue scarf Cande was using in one of the scenes.

And despite Cande's flaws, I did not like Sev slapping and backhanding her.

Sara! Hey, Teamie! Thanks, girl! I tell you. That Sev and Vile scene was more vomitrocious than the sight of poor Simoneta's decomposed body! How low is that girl? She actually thought she would still be Cris's intended after she let his dad shaft her? She is one sick puppy! So glad they put her out and now I want her lie outed!

Lila- You outdid yourself! Can't believe you did such an incredibly detailed recap so quickly. Thank you!

Val is a legend only in her own mind. But now she knows exactly what Roberta felt like when Sever used her and threw her away. She was delusional if she ever thought Sever had any intention of letting her marry his son and foist another man's child on him, especially after she slept with his father.

We know Sever is really unhinged now, as he's even treating Cande like he treats his mistresses. Perhaps Val should count herself lucky that she was dissed and dismissed before Sever raped/smacked/murdered her, as he does with his other women/victims.

Diana! Thank you, hon! I am so with you on Cris and Aldonza: everybody showed them up in this episode. Everybody's love seems deeper and richer and more genuine: Vero and Eman, Eman and Lola, Tomas and Silvia and, I hate to say it, but Mari seems to truly care for Pato and they even get more "romantic" play than Cris and Al.

May I carry on about THE NEW KISS: Eman and Vero! Holy Smokes! The way he looked in her eyes, gazing deeply into the window to her soul and then carefully, consciously and passionately kissed her. Lord, have mercy! THAT is what some of us watch these things for and THAT is what we want to see from our main couple dang-on-it! Lawzy! That was hot! Rewind city in the morning when hulu+ has it up!

If having Lola and Eman together in the same house means we'll get a regular dose of lustful looks at Eman's naked torso, then I say yes, please! :)

Loved all the sibling love scenes with Eman and Al. Hate that Sever's new henchman will be watching Al, but grateful Eman will also be there keeping watch. I hope Jacinto mentions seeing Sever pay a wad of cash to a shady guy.

Thanks, Vivi! You know, Vile is getting off easy and she had better not cross Sev again because he is on a violent, downward spiral. He IS coming unhinged and I wonder what the forthright Dominga will do having witnessed this abuse of Cande. Cande isn't perfect but she does love her kinda like a daughter. Will Dominga dare confront Sev about it? I know she will go to Cande's aid and surely tell Cris but this was only the second time he's laid hands on her and the dynamics have changed. Just last week she taunted/dared him to hit her. This devil is going down fast and everybody's in danger!

Great work, Lila.

Vile must have a very strong stomach to be able to boink her "Tio". I want the whole town to know about this! If stoning is still an option Vile would get hers.

For Sev to hit Candela like that is disgraceful in the normal way of things but she's got her neck in a brace. He could have crippled her permanently. Not that he would care.

He will become even more unhinged when news of the trunk gets out.

I'm not opposed to Em being shirtless or Lola ogling him. I'm just opposed to her getting to be with him in the end. She's been awful to Em and Pato both.

I'll adjust my beanie. Lola and Em are end game. I'll find a way to deal with it.

Lila- I would point out that none of those couples have to deal with the parents/father of one half of the couple raping, slandering, and murdering the other half and their family. It's easier to be lovey dovey that way. Cris hit the nail on the head when he said Al sees him as an extension of his father. I agree, and think that's why she is turning increasingly cold towards him. It seems pretty normal to me, and a wise survival mechanism. But it doesn't make for a great love story.

Hear hear, Vivi! Why they thought having the galan's father be the rapist was a good idea is beyond me. They wrote themselves into a corner.

Sara- Just think of Lola as an opportunity to see Eman laying those tender looks and soft lips on, and wrapping those muscular arms around, someone. You can pretend it's you and just block Lola out.

Lila- Yes, that goodbye kiss was awesome!

Maybe if the Vero actress were different. I'm still seeing her character from QA who had so much growth.

Sara- Actually, it's precisely because of Quiero Amarte that Vero and Eman always felt weird to me, because they were siblings in QA, and the show only recently ended.

LILA, Thank you! Delighted to see your wonderfully detailed recap up so quickly; I got home from dinner at the neighbors' exactly 3 minutes after the episode ended. (Alas, no carrot cake.)

Sorry to miss the Em-Vero kiss, she kinda grew on me. If Vero and Don Ant leave, how is he going to figure in the final venganza?

Sorry to miss the unveiling of the coffin table. Not sorry to miss the hook-up of the slimey snakes duo (SeVal). Glad she will get her comeuppance. I'm glad that Irma and Uriel will end up with a mini-Lardo out of the deal.

Lila, thanks again.

J in Oregon

Wow, Lila! Thank you, and I'm so sorry you ended up with this one...but the recap was fabulous!

Let me start by fixing just one of your lines here..."RPC time folks because I'm [going to have enough nightmares as it is] and I despise what happens next." There. Fixed it for you ;)

"Get an app, Lola, and push the button for the next time you’re dissing Pato like this!" No kidding. Save your voice for the gossip, Lola!

"as that song with the girl singing in a baby voice swells in the background" Um...I don't know what that song is, and I think I'd rather not know. It is just...not my favorite.

"they are lost for an even longer moment in a passionate and poignant kiss" Mr 5ft didn't think that looked like a goodbye kiss. I thought it looked like a "goodbye to the cantina, hello to a room" kiss!

"Dom gives the neck brace coordinated Cande her medicine." Best robe-scarf combo yet. Mixing the prints. Damn, that's classy.

"Does he mean that what happened between them last night meant nothing?" That just cracked me up! I know Val wasn't trying to be funny, but that was funny. And so was her look when she realized her ride on the gravy train was OVER!

"Cande goes flying to the floor where she grabs her neck in pain and shakes with disturbing, seemingly seizure like quaking as Dom looks on in horror!" I admit, I was looking on in horror. And I don't even like Cande.

OK, so, I need your opinion on the Candy House Saga...should I keep adding lines going forward with the information we're finding out, or correct the past information with what we're finding out?

And now to the delicious comments...

Sara, your new avatar is making me hungry :D I'm not feeling Em-Lola either, but...whatever, I guess. I see we're also on the same page about Cande's accessorizing and not liking to see Sev slap her like that. It made me want to grab my own neck!

Diana, is there a "We didn't like Tomas and Silvia before, but we love them now" table? 'Cause I'm so there :D

Vivi, your new avatar is making me smile! "Val is a legend only in her own mind" is sooooo damn true! And I'm agreeing with your whole comment. *shudder*

Lila, too true! We've been waiting for a kiss like that from our main couple and instead it's the breakup kiss? Whaaaaat?!

Urban Anthropologist, I had the same thought about Cande's neck being more fragile than usual. That just really creeped me out to see it.

J, you bring up a good point...no fair if Don Ant leaves town and he doesn't get to see Sev brought down.

Lila a heartfelt THANK YOU. I am still mulling over all that happened, no comments yet.

Lila - thank you for the recap ! This was awesome recap and I can't wait to watch this episode, which will be tomorrow night before I get a chance. I know now to FFWD---> thru the disgusting Vile/Sev scenes. Blech ... and barf.

Thanks, Lila, for yet another winning recap.

Wow, Vile has no idea what a nasty, old tiger she had by the tail. She thought that bod would put him completely in her control. Ha... Girl is too dumb and conceited to realize that she just did the limbo with Satan. And she called him Tio. Wow..unaware much ? I especially enjoy watching her shake her little head and flounce out of the room like a seventh grade mean preteen when she is ticked.

Vivi..great photo.

Must get to bed. To quote Katie Scarlett O'Hara, " Tomorrow is another day....y'all."

Ah Lila, I knew when I got up this morning, there would already be a sizzling recap in place and a host of comments. Believe me, I was thinking about you last night as the creepy Sev/Valeria music started and the unthinkable happened. There should be a special award for recappers who have to cover events like that. Oh wait...there IS! Emmanuel's smouldering kiss with Vero and the later scene of Em, shirtless, (Lord that man is lovely).

" her eyes smolder and she almost needs a hankie to wipe the drool. Or is that me?"

Wonderful way to describe it. And the little waltz they did...she starts to leave, he softly calls out "Lola"....she leaves again, again he calls out...the tension and the yearning builds...will they kiss? will they fall into each other's arms?....that sweet sexy scene wiped out the horror of the loathsome mating of Sev and Valeria.

With all the other events building to a climax, I've totally lost interest in the Candy House, but maybe the final reveal will be significant.

And Candela is becoming more and more poignant which makes me think she will not survive. We're beginning to see her as-- initially-- a neutral character, a typical, privileged young woman with dreams of a future with the man she loves...who,after his loss, by marrying the wrong man is destined to make one bad decision after another, leading to her eventual ruin.

Lila, when you write, the words have such energy, they jump right off the page. Bet you're a hoot to be around. Keep the faith, lady. Great recap.

Good morning, Lila. Thank you for this great retelling of some pivotal events last night.

I think Val is one of the luckiest girls in the world. To date, Sev has dealt with his cast off lovers by killing them. I am surprised that she wasn't surprised that her willingness to offer herself sexually wasn't appreciated as it has been all her sexually active life. Therein lies the difference between young men who will take anything they can get, and a cold calculating manipulator like Sev.

I want Val to be discredited so completely that not even the town drunk will want to have anything to do with her.

The Cris-Aldonza relationship is on a back burner while we wait for other events to unfold, but their marriage remains legally in effect.

Renato is losing on all fronts.

I am hoping that boozy Pru will make an appearance next week wreaking chaos everywhere she treads. I still think that, while she thinks she is protecting her daughter, she will be the engine of destruction for her.

I hope all the problems in SL can be resolved before PJ leaves for his reassignment, otherwise I think the social order in that town will be torn to shreds without his steady hand at the tiller.

It seems to me that Mary might be on the cusp of understanding a lot of things, which may lead to her redemption.

Thanks again, Lila. I am really enjoying watching this rattle down to its conclusion, and your retelling of the events added a lot to my delight in seeing it all unfold.

David

"I want Val to be discredited so completely that not even the town drunk will want to have anything to do with her."

That would be Pru.

Sara, you beat me to that one!

Since both Vile and Pru have done things that are jail-worthy they should end up there. I was hugely disappointed at the end of MCET when Isabela didn't end up in prison for everything she did so this would be even more of a disappointment if neither of them paid for their sins.

Mornin' and thank you, Urban! Vile is just that! YES, I want the whole town to know as well. I went back and tweaked the scene where she went to ES the morning after having slefpt with her uncle and "father in law" and she had the nerve to accuse Aldonza of sleeping with Hum to get ES! This after a subtle insult to the memory of Adelina who was murdered by the devil she slept with and covered for. Oh, she's in a whole new anvil territory now. It is interesting that in this same confrontation outside ES she said she'd rather die than see them with ES!

Only the desire not to stain my own soul will I not say what I would like to have happen to her during childbirth! UUuuuf! I despise her!

Vivi at @ 11:19, I thought about that after I had gone to bed and concluded, once again, as you stated "it doesn't make for a great love story." In real life, despite being innocent of his father's crimes, Aldonza would have fallen out of love with Cris and she would end up with Renato. Cris would learn to love again, this time after actually getting to know, first like and then love his beloved, maybe in Spain where he had retreated for healing and recovery. Yes, they wrote themselves into a corner.

Sorry to be behind in the discussion, I'm just up and going through! Y'all know I LOVE y'all's take on things!

Hey, J in O! Thank you much! Oh, no carrot cake! What kind of dinner was that! ;) Good question about whether Don Tonio will figure in the final venganza. Hmmm. What if Tonio's poor niece was NOT a suicide? I don't know how that could come out but maybe Tonio will go to the police and they exhume and autopsy her remains. Not sure how long ago this crime was and it's not really necessary for Sev to get his much-deserved anvils.

Diva!! Thanks Cap'n! That slimy Sev/Val hook-up IS the stuff of nightmares AND upchuking! Blech! Re THE NEW KISS I thought it looked like a "goodbye to the cantina, hello to a room" kiss! So right!

Re Vile's being kicked to the curb after sharing what she thought was her mind-blowing bedroom skillz, I can't believe it's over! We know she's not going to abort; I can't wait to see Cris's face when he hears the news. I assume Sev is going to tell him! Somebody's going to get a great episode!

Hmmm. Candy House. Let's see. I think I like your adding lines. Going through comments so I'll see what others think and thank you for keeping up with the Candy House, a beloved and enduring "character" that they had better not mess up!

Happy Saturday! And a fab Lila recap to kick it off as I dig into English futbol back on my TV screen. What a great morning.

SIGHHHHHHHH, Right there with you Lila. I could take some fresh in the morning, or too hot while working on the horses, or I just stepped out of the shower moments with E-man every day until we cap this thing. I have resigned myself as well that he and Lola are end game, but man, that "farewell" to Vero? I soooo agree that is what we have been lacking in this TN and we got it with the wrong couple.

Like everyone is commenting, this was a poorly told love story with our main squeezes and somehow as we move to the end, they seem to be more disconnected then ever. Just having Allie continually claim Cris is the love of her life doesn't do it for me. The actions aren't really there, maybe a bit more from his side, but Cris' comment seemed to come straight from CARAY bloggers...he IS an extension of his father in her eyes and the writers have never shown us a good way for that to be dealt with. Cris finding out all the truths about his father to me would make it even worse in a way. He sees her and reminds him of the horrors his father put her through...can these two please get some counseling? Otherwise this will be one of the worst resolutions and putting a couple together I've seen in awhile.

LOVED Tomas and Silvia and the moment in the tower was so poignant. Leave them be writers.

But it leads to the questions of Ren and Pato. What happens here? Do they join Joaquin at the "4G club" - Good Guys Get Garbage Club. If they break up Sylvia and Tomas after last night to put her back with Ren that will be fake and forced. Pato has to come off with no one since if they push Mari that will make us all hurl and be more than unfair and Joaquin needs to keep shoving Flavia out the door. What the heck did these guys do to deserve either nothing or some beyotch they try to redeem to force a couple?? They really messed up the story for the Bod Squad guys.

Wow, walked right into Sev's trap but she did live to tell the tale. That makes her desperate, so not looking forward to her next move.

But Sev hitting Cande? Is she annoying and deserves her own anvil, sure. But wow, that was a turning point moment. He has always refrained from that with her over and over, reinforced that he did "love" her in his own twisted way and to do that showed he has totally lost it and now doesn't care. And frankly, if she is worth her salt, he's out of that house now. Makes me a bit panicky for PJ though.

Sara, how's the kitty this morning?

Daisynjay

Kitty is being taken back to the vet this morning. No improvement and he's stopped eating and drinking and I think he's leaking pee.

Vivi - it's funny that I can separate Alex Sirvent from his QA character, but not the Vero actress. (I even typed her QA character name first.)

Wow Lila, a master word seamstress. Thank you

"Get an app, Lola"

Oh my friggin gawd, Emanuel and Veronica gave me chills and that a break up kiss, the actors done it proud.

I cover my ears and close my eyes when Lola appears

Thelma, Thelma, Thelma, girl you are really so good at bad

Agree, that scarf Cande wore, me like. Alejandra Barros is really pretty

Renato my good man, you snooze you lose

Incredible the thing that angers Severiano more than anything is Cande's love for PJ

What's bugging me about this is with Sev rejecting future sex from Vile and tossing her out the writers have cheated us out of a delicious discovery possibility. To have Candela walk in on them would have been truffle icing on a chocolate mousse cake! How dare they!

Oh, no! Hugs and many good vibes to you and kitty, Sara.

Sorry Sara. Prayers for your little one.

Daisynjay

Tofie- If you close your eyes when Lola appears you might miss some prime, shirtless Eman scenes. Is it really worth the sacrifice?

Kat- I think we've almost reached resolution on the Candy House story. We now know Arnoldo is the mystery giver/maker. We just need to find out now why he and Marga didn't get married, and where is he now/is he still alive. I'm sure Mel and Lola will help close out this old love story by getting the info.

Thank you, Emeraldrose! Mull all you want, it was an entertaining yet disturbing episode. . .kisses, goodbyes, welcome backs, more tears, assaults, depraved pairings. . .another day in Santa Lucia!

Thanks, Doris, my cougar partner! Wait til you see the Vero/Eman scene. And yah, FFWD through the Vile/Sev scene, yuck!

Gracias, Susanlynn, you are right about Vile. Sev's been around the block several times AND he's got too much invested in ES to let it ride on her skanky tail.

OMG, Judy B, thank you, hon! You're too kind! Yeah, I WAS rewarded with some delicious scenes! I like this JudyB about the Eman/Lola scene: . . .that sweet sexy scene wiped out the horror of the loathsome mating of Sev and Valeria.

Hope the vet is able to be of some help Sara. It's such a terrible feeling to see a pet start to lose ground. Re-connects us to all the other losses of loved ones, whether pets or people in our lives. And it hurts. Sending good vibes(((((())))))) and many prayers that answers and healing will be found.

Tofie I was just thinking of Thelma this morning. She has been brilliantly hate inspiring in this.

I'm seeing a lot more comments about Alejandra Barros's beauty. Are they starting to lighten up on her make up? Because she really is looking less harsh. Possible redemption? Are there degrees of redemption. I'm not sure she qualifies for full redemption, but damn I'm starting to feel sorry for her.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We're on our way out the door now.

Ok Vivi, I admit to peeking

Betcha had Alex Sirvent been our Cris and a broomstick been Aldonza I'd be cheering the couple

Sara, poor kitty, hate it when they hurt

Agreed tofie. I do like Pablo Lyle, but he lacks a spark like Alex has.

Mornin' and thank you, David, We all agree that Vile is getting away lightly with just being called a whore: she has NO idea who she's dealing with! I want Val to be discredited so completely that not even the town drunk will want to have anything to do with her. Amen, brother!

Amen to what you say about Pru as well! We got a break from her today but she is definitely going to be "an engine of destruction" for Vile! Yes, bring her on! And, unfortunately, I think you're right about Mari:

It seems to me that Mary might be on the cusp of understanding a lot of things, which may lead to her redemption.

David, I just want all her lies to surface. If somebody doesn't out her, I want her to confess all her lies to Eman, Lola and to her parents as a part of her redemption!

Okay, guys! Not done going through comments. Thank you in advance. I'll be back with you after me and the boys tie on the feed bag!

Cande has been so cartoonish a villain with her stick man strut, bugging eyes and bitching it is easy to miss how pretty Alejandra Barros is. There have been a few times as she speaks of or looks at PJ she is radiant and you see behind the mask. Problem for Cande she became the hard outer shell.

Praying for Sara and her kitty. I've had cats for most of my life and they are precious.

I saw a little of the Veronica speech in Mari. The mean girl wanting to stop being mean.

It's high time for someone to out Vile about the paternity issue. Mari can get some redemption points if she does that. She needs to make up a lot to her parents and tipping them off to the grandchild would be a good start along with owning up to having stolen money from Irma's purse.

She's probably afraid to out Vile because of Sev, but I doubt Vile would confide the latest development in her. Since Prudencia hasn't been sober since about episode 10, she is the most likely to do this.

Good Morning All,
SARA I hope the vet can identify what's wrong with Mr Kitty. Sending hugs.

Even though I missed this ep, feels like I was right there watching, thanks to the great recap and all the comments.

The man Melesio id'd as Marga's suitor, can't recall have we heard his name before?

Remember when Renato and Sylvia rented that wonderful office space, and the landlord said he might have them do some work for him, 'cause there was someone who owed him money. And then the camera dwelt meaningfully on that big oak desk. Hopefully those little details don't fall through the cracks.

J in O

Good Morning and Thank you, Daisynjay! Yes, Daisy, this was a poorly told love story with our main squeezes and somehow as we move to the end, they seem to be more disconnected then ever. Yah. Rape and love should not be said in the same breath and does not a love story make. Total fail! AND, he doesn't even know the worse of it. When it does, this should have him beggin her forgiveness for all his family has inflicted on hers, ceding everything to Eman shice he says he wants nothing from Sev, and heading off to Spain to use his business degree to build a new life for himself. Thos two do NOT belong together!

I hope we are not alienating viewers who disagree. If any of you out there see a way Cris and Aldonza can overcome this horrendous obstacle I'd love to hear your take on it.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't put it past them to kill Ren off, Pato and Mari will probably hook up and, hurlworthy though it is, Flavia's "kindness and patience" will pay off and Jock will see that (say this with feigned syrupy sweetness) she really loves him!

I remember that desk, J in O! I was really hoping it was some sort of mystery as well.

I did not pay close attention last night, but did Marga say her suitor went off to try and make his fortune?

Lila I hope we do hear from people who have a differing opinion of the Cris and Aldonza/rape dynamic. I really want to be OK with their relationship because it doesn't look like she'll be getting any kind of therapy.

Seems like the venganza, hate-filled feuding families storyline takes precedence. There doesn't seem to be enough fertile ground here for a true love story to flourish. and even when obstacles seem to be removed, Chris and Al seem to drift apart at key moments for no reason. Of course there is enough other stuff going on to make a riveting story, but still. Where's the romance?

J in O

Tofie! Hey, girl! Thank you! Tofie, that outburst by Sev was something, wasn't it? He must have been taking some macho pride in his belief that, even though they lived under an uneasy platonic truce as "man and wife" her heart had only ever belonged to him and learning that he never really had her heart, even in the happy days, sent him over the edge. I hope that doesn't feel like I'm excusing him but in his macho mind this is adultery of the heart. I'm sure he thinks even though he was banging Roberta, he never really loved her and thus was "faithful" to Cande. But he is losing it and we are seeing this monster circle the bowl of the crapper on his way down!

Love and healing to Kitty and you, dear Sara! ))))))))))))))))

I have to say, the aspect of the rape of Allie that I hate the most is the disservice this shows as to how a young women should or is dealing with such a horrific incident. If she hadn't finally told Lola, with the death of Ade, she would have noone who knows what she went through. And sorry, Lola is the last person that would know how to advise for something like that. The only advice she ever really got from Ade gwas essentially buck up and try to get over it. Spoken like someone with a true martyr complex.

It has been wrongly done, and then add to that she's supposed to walk off healed and happily ever after with the son of the rapist somehow...yeah, they blew this one. But I have enjoyed the actors and sub-plots of the show, and that has made me stick with it ( not to say the very handsome, non-body builder galans).

So with all this talk of who gets ES, wonder how Ren's partnership and putting money into the place is considered. And totally forgot about that desk. A dropped ball maybe?

Speaking of whom, better not kill off Ren, Lila. He doesn't deserve that type of ending for all he's done...just to make it make sense for the top two. No No No. Let him be single or see someone across a crowded room as the screen fades. It's Patricio in Refugio all over again if they do that...still not over that one. Couldn't take another one.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay, I hear you. I hope they don't kill of Ren, either. This is all speculation! I just have this feeling that as someone truly in love with Aldonza he will totally lose his legal cool and go for Sev's jugular, inflict a mortal wound on Sev but in the process he will also die. Aldonza's true love has to avenge her rape by killing Sev and that can't be Cris so they've given her two true loves and Ren draws the short straw as the killer of Sev. This will all be after the murders of Adelina, Abelardo and Simoneta have been revealed. Maybe Ren will be present as they are about to question or arrest Sev, in his home of course, where Sev has his firearms at the ready. He'll probably spew it out as he's being confronted and Ren will freak out.

I hope not. I don't want to see Ren die but when people start a story out like this I don't trust them as far as I can throw my TV.

Thank you Lila, my dvr didn't record this episode for some reason so I'm even more appreciate than normal for your work.

First, so funny that Sev didn't mind sleeping with Valeria before he tells her that she's a slut and to get out. I hope he does tell everyone that she's not having Cris's baby.

How long will it take to ID the decomposed body? I can't believe how fast they determined that Adelina was murdered, so maybe they'll jump on this too. All we need is for Lola to hear about the box and she can let everyone know who it is. Can't wait!!!

AGHHHHHH!!! I know your argument is very telenova-logical ( lord, that is actually becoming a thing!). But I will hate it with every fiber of my being.

Daisynjay

Lila..!ong ago,I was worried that Ren was being set up to avenge Al and rid the world of Despicable Him thus preventing one of Sev' s sons from killing Sev. Please no. Ren has been devoted to Al and her family and proactive while Cris stands around looking handsome and confused or moves away from the pain and grief. Ren has gone after Sev several times already. Can't Sev just fall into those falls he covets ? Ren deserves a happy ending for his unfailing devotion to someone who has basically used him throughout this whole show. if not a happy ending, at least let the poor guy live. At this point, I would choose the faithful, loving Ren over Cris.I need a hero. Al doesn't deserve Ren.

so what was the point of bringing Don Ant as a blast from Sev's past ? Just more proof that Sev is the devil? We already figured that out at the very beginning of this long and winding road.

Did the Candy House and desk have any significance , or were they just diversions ?

Cathyx! Thank you so much. We are so happy when we hear people missed the episode and our recaps filled in the blank! Yes! Yah, that's a funnny point you make. He tells her she's a slut after he samples her wares! They are both so pitiful. I would love to see her face when she finds out he's a psychotic serial killer and rapist.

You know, Simoneta's end is so gruesome. I don't watch any of these CSI shows but I bet you someone on the Patio can answer that. With only two weeks left the ID has got to come next week and figure in the unmasking and downfall of Sev the Dev. It is sad but true Lola knows about the coffin table. We've had so much grief this week and there's more ahead with this terrible discovery. And I'm sure Cris will know how to offer Lola comfort and solace during the shocking revelation! Oh yeah, Cathyx, like I said, EVERYbody will get a good episode to watch and recap in these last two weeks!

Daisy, girl, I know. I beseech the tn gods that it not be so!

Susanlynn! Okay, duly noted Susanlynn! I like this:

Ren deserves a happy ending for his unfailing devotion to someone who has basically used him throughout this whole show. if not a happy ending, at least let the poor guy live

There is more than a ring of truth and justice to the sentiment that Aldonza doesn't deserve Renato. We know these stories are not about people going through trauma and realizing that they need a break from intense, intimate relationships for a while to just heal and live and discover themselves but that's what Aldonza, Cris, Eman and Lola ALL need to do. But, they've GOT to pair everybody off. . . .or kill them!

Susanlynn I know it's a long shot, not enough time and not necessary to cook Sev's goose but what if Don Tonio goes to the police and says Sev raped his niece and he's always been suspicisous of her so-called suicide. This has all the earmarks of a Sev serial killing. Maybe that's one of the reasons he was brought into the story?

If not, it was to give poor Eman some love and happiness from somewhere and to have Vero give Mari the reality check that has apparently begun her (grrrrrrr) "redemption."

Candy House a diversion. . .replacement for the stock clown character. . .and I really didn't catch the desk thing.

gee. Was that a goodbye kiss that E gave Very ? As I was watching that kiss, I thought "Well, I guess Very is still in the running for the E prize."

I think that Sev starting to attack Candy is part of her eventual redemption.

((Sara))..I am sending good vibrations out for Kitty )))))) and for you)))). I have cried many years for bpeoplevand animals I love.

No way Severiano ever pays for everything he's done. The rapes for example, you can bet Aldonza and Don Antonio's sister not the only young women he's attacked and that alone could consume 10 episodes. The arson, murder for hire, you can be some horse thievery, the beatings and killings and disposal of bodies. This could have been only about the investigation and trial of the monster.

And I'm sure EMAN will know how to offer Lola comfort and solace during the shocking revelation!

Tofie they damn sho better try and make him pay or I'm a. . .who was that that was going to march on Televisa? I'm a join up with 'em and MARCH on that sonuva B!

I'm starting to picture the finale and Sev's end. I think it will happen this way (Not a spoiler, but speculation):

It will happen on El Santuario, Sev's obsession for probably his entire life. He is currently having Aldonza watched. I hope that this guy is an undercover cop because he seems to have come out of nowhere. Sev will go up to ES in the middle of the night and either make another attempt at rape or at murder. Whichever it is he will drag her near the falls, maybe to the spot where he dumped Simoneta's body in the trunk. There will be a nasty struggle, an edge-of-your-seat kind, which will be witnessed by Cristobal. The wind will be in the right direction for him to hear Aldonza scream and Sev threaten her. He will start running to her rescue (finally) only to be held off by Sev holding a gun to her head. The police will be closing in, sirens blaring, which will trigger Sev's phantom pain. He will fall and try to take Aldonza with him, but she will get away from the edge with Cristobal's help. Sev will hang over the falls on his one arm. The police will arrive, fully armed and prepared to arrest him. He will let go and fall in the river rather than be captured. The current will be too strong for a one-armed man, but there will need to be an "x semanas mas tarde" to find the body and confirm his death.

Tell ya, Lola better do some groveling if Mari's lying is reveled, otherwise she doesn't come close to deserving Emanuel. She's mighty confident she's gonna get the prize

"Candy House a diversion. . .replacement for the stock clown character. . .and I really didn't catch the desk thing."

I think the Candy House diversion is so much better than a clown type character. I've never liked that... especially in a drama.

I think I had the episode where the desk first showed up and I may have read too much into it. I freely admit I was in the middle of a Nancy Drew reading kick at the time.

I want Aldonza to step on his hand as he dangles from the falls

Drinks are on me, tofie. I'm with you on the Lola better grovel thing.

Wow! That's awesome, Urban! I could actually visualize it! But tell me this, would Sev's other crimes have been revealed before this point?

Make that a double round of drinks. I like that image of Aldonza stepping on Sev's hand.

Sara, no, I'm sure you read it right. I can just see them sitting around the table going "oops" over the dangling plot points and then they'll shrug and say, "eh, nobody remembers the big oak desk." But they would be wrong because Sara and Susanlynn, among others, caught it!

Nancy Drew deserves Ren. Ren is the real galan in this show. the guy is always there trying to protect Al and make things better. I have never seen a more laissezfaire, passive galan than poor puppydog Cris. I appreciate people who try to do something to make things better instead of wringing their hands and looking distraught. Hub says that I am becoming increasingly impatient. I agree that one must let things unfold, but come on, Cris. Despierta.

tofie remembers nothing now cept the Veronica/Emanuel kiss, who gives a fig bout some big ole desk. Wonder if they did it from different angles and have the outtakes?

Of course, Lila.

The police have determined that the woman in the trunk was murdered and that she had been pregnant. The trunk was found on El Santuario, so there will be questioning of anyone who is on that property regularly. Lola had visions or dreams about her mother and she would recognize that trunk. She knew Simoneta was pregnant and she sure as hell will remember the last time she saw that trunk, which was after the last time she saw Simoneta.

Aldonza's rape can't be a permanent secret. Lola knows and has almost spilled the beans. Whether she tells anyone or Aldonza does, it would be egregiously wrong of the writers to not bring this to light.

Adriano might have to wake up from the coma to reveal Abelardo's arson-for-hire and that he killed Abelardo on Sev's behalf.

One thing is certain: If Aldonza and Cristobal are to be together at the end of this tale, he has to be able to trust anything she tells him about Sev. That likely means that all his crimes have to come to light before he will believe that he raped Aldonza (and three other women we know of).

I think they only showed the desk to show that was the one piece of furniture Ren and company had, and that they we're really starting this biz from scratch. Nothing more. There was no more focus on it once they got furniture. It was in no way treated to its own story like the Candy House.

Yeah. I definitely misread it. Like I said. Candy House and Nancy Drew on the brain. I guess the owner of the house needing legal help was just a throw away line too. I do kinda wish they had found a treasure map in the desk.

There were at least a couple of times that Lola wanted to go to the police to report Sim missing, and each time Irma or her grands discouraged her. Had they let her, at this point the police would have made the link between the missing pregnant woman, and the pregnant corpse.

This should have been called Sins of the father cause Cris will be left to pay for everything Severiano has done. People will run him out of town. Don Antonio didn't want to shake his hand when they met. He'll need to change his name

I would like to know if the audience for El Manatial felt as strongly about the rape being a deal breaker for any future for the main couple, as much as the audience (at least on this site) today feels.

Well, at least this show has kept us guessing .

Nancy would have found a treasure map in that desk and then stumbled upon a hidden staircase behind that desk and an old grandfather clock with a mysterious letter inside. Then, she would have put on her jaunty hat and jumped into her roadster with Ren and solved the whole deal.

Well now Aldonza knows not only did the monster rape her but participated in the murder of her father and stole her brother. How does she not see Severiano in Cris? Its sick to attempt to force them together. Are we being set up for Aldonza in grandma shoes for the rest of her life?

Wasn't rape, but Aranza in PSMA willingly gave herself to her bf's father, though it was unknown to her at the time. Esteban still wanted her back even after he and Aranza discovered that little tidbit but it was Aranza that was more than a little weirded out about it. How do you go there?

I don't know so much if it's a deal breaker Vivi if it's presented well and the galan is righteously outraged and concerned. Allie DID tell him she had been raped, just not be his father, and he showed understanding at the time. So that was something, sort of. But they still have pretty much put the onus on her to get through it all.

I do get this sick feeling that the absolute outrage and actions to possibly destroy Sev for Allie's sake when the news comes out will be done by Ren or E-man ( hopefully not to their demise).I mean---can't you just see E-man once he knows get those wild eyes and want to tear Sev's head off...literally?? But it shouldn't be them, not in this show. Most galans go through their own hell of some kind or hardship and understand better what the woman they love is going through as heartache progresses. Cris is a nice guy, but he's gotten off pretty well in this one. When things have gone bad for Allie, he steps aside or others have been there for her over and over again. Worse thing he has had is having Val hanging around. I mean, gee, Ren even had to lose his mother who he adored!!
If they make Cris go all puppy dog, though I get how this could just mentally destroy him, if we buy into he and Allie coming out of this as a couple and whole, I want him to be massively confrontational with his father in some manner and champion Allie. I don't want it left to someone else...really I don't.

We had such hopes for this TN at the start, and the acting has been sublime, sub stories, some have been good. But I hate when a TN starts down its wrap up slide and the story and wraps up go to h*** in a handbasket. Then after all those episodes, you're just left with a let down feeling and a bad memory of the show.

Daisynjay

I seem to recall that right after the rape here, someone (Maybe J desde NYC?) had said that in El Manantial, it was not the father character that committed the rape. The father just sent a ranch hand to do the rape.

Or was it Jarocha?

Bright spot for me in this one, which makes it redeemable somewhat, is how Val's character has descended into hell. Never the lovely sort to start but she wasn't evil yet. She now is nasty as they make um.

After reading all the excellent comments today, I'm wondering about Renato's fate for the first time.

Although I agree with you susanlynn that Renato has been there for Aldonza and certainly deserves only the best, Sylvia's unexpected pairing with Tomas has thrown me for a loop. While I like the couple, I did think Renato would have a change of heart and end up with Silvia. That may not be likely now.

Is Renato the male equivalent of Adelina? Was his purpose to protect others and in essence, give up his personal happiness to do so? I hope he ends up happy. And alive.

daisy, we did have high hopes initially! I am hoping the writers have some surprises for us - and happy ones. Time will tell.

Diana

I like it, Urban, I like it! And you KNOW my favorite plot point in the downfall is this: Adriano might have to wake up from the coma to reveal Abelardo's arson-for-hire and that he killed Abelardo on Sev's behalf. YES! That has SO got to happen!

Vivi at 1:08, you are so right! Lola is always so stubborn and headstrong, I wish she'd gone ahead and reported Simoneta missing! Maybe she'll finally go to report it and her timing will be perfect to speed along Sev's unmasking! Also wonder how the audience felt about El Manatial!

Tofie, that's right! Don Tonio DIDN'T want to shake Cris's hand! Uuuf!

I like Urban's projected ending, except it lets Sev off too easily, he gets to choose to let go of the branch.

How about this one, which harks back to an old Peter Lorre horror flick called "The Beast With Five Fingers": in Sev's final bout of phantom pain, the ghost of his missing arm comes back and starts crawling towards his neck, the fingers outstretched to strangle him. Sev dies writhing in terror, as the camera pulls away to show that there was nothing choking him except his imagination.

J in O

Sara @1:43: From a legal perspective he would still have been responsible although this would be adequate to separating the son from the father in the crime.

However, Sev knew what he was doing when he raped Aldonza. He knew this would make it impossible for her and Cris to have a proper relationship if she didn't commit suicide first, which may have been what he was hoping for.

J in O, I like that even better! Oooo, nice! Just make sure he suffers for a long, long time. Maybe have him have that nightmare of the crawling hand every night for a year and let him finally die on one of the anniversaries of the rapes or murders he committed to maximize suffering!

Diana! Is Renato the male equivalent of Adelina? Was his purpose to protect others and in essence, give up his personal happiness to do so? Yes, that would be what he was for if they kill him off! Again, let it not be so!

Sara- The rape by the father happened in El Manatial. It was in another version of the tale, Azteca's La Duda, where the father sent his henchman to rape the girl.

Thanks, Vivi. I knew someone had noted the difference, but that was A LOT of comments ago ;-)

I was thinking that it could possibly be Cris who ends Sev's life. I base this on the way the writers seem to think about this stuff. They will probably assume that if Sev dies, Aldonza will miraculously get over her rape trauma, and if Cris is the one to kill him (I'm thinking in self-defense), then Aldonza will know that Cris isn't defending his parents so that the love he has for his parents won't be able to continue to drive a wedge between them, and it will show Aldonza that Cris is finally believing in his father's badness.

I get you, Cathyx, but man, that would be SO DARK! They ARE keep us guessing!

Hey guys. It has come up before but what do you all think if they let PJ inflict near-fatal harm upon Sev once he learns about the rape and then he is either defrocked or gives the Priesthood up himself because of having taken the law into his own hands? It would be even more dramatic if he literally takes the collar off as Sev is giving him another one of those insincere confessions, goes around the partition and chokes him to death!

No. No! How about he's out of town in his new position and finds out about the rape and there is a dramatic scene where he rips off the collar and takes off for SL, confronts and nearly kills Sev with the Law arriving just in time to take the nearly dead Sev into custody!

How do y'all feel about a time jump which shows the now "civilian" (non-Priest) Jeronimo having married a changed a redeemed Cande and the whole hee haw gang living happily in Santa Lucia?

Lila- I will never get behind a PJ-Cande pairing. His love and calling is the Church, and that's where he should remain.

And I will agree with Vivi. I didn't want to be the first one to say it. ;-)

(Because then it looks like I'm stalking the comments when I answer too fast.)

I agree with Vivi, particularly in light of Candela's actions throughout the story. I can't see redemption in her future. Nor do I see Padre Jeronimo leaving the church. That is where he belongs.

I think Cande is has done too much bad stuff to ever have her end up with PJ. Whoever kills Sev, if that's how this ends, has to do it in self defense so that they don't end up in jail for doing it.

She deserves jail time for her actions (masterminding the kidnapping of Emanuel and accessory after the fact to the attempted murder of Aldonza), but I think she will end up in a manicomio. Her love for Cristobal is possessive and twisted and her willingness to believe the worst of others has escalated that sickness.

Love the response, guys! Anybody else? I think we may have to think outrageously so as not to be too shocked, disappointed or outraged at the ending! Don't hold back! Stalking comments is a good thing!

Just wondered why they brought or changed the nature of PJ and Cande's relationship with that stunning statement, "you would have been the love of my life. . ." I hope I have not insulted anyone's religious sensibilities, NEVER intend that but there's this whole theme of PJ being a crusader for justice and a sleuth and detective to protect his niece and get to the bottom of the disastrous end to his brother and sister in laws lives and the "death" of Roberta's baby. This contrasts with the theme of his being humbled before the Bishop for the sin of pride in thinking he could take the law into his own hands. It just feels like there may be a deeper instinct to protect his family which may even over ride his love of the Church (NOT of God) and drive him to make Sev pay with his own hands. He will, of course, be contrite afterwards, not regretting having apprehended/injured Sev but no longer able to wear the collar. Not saying I want it to happen but, hey? Like I say, I don't trust these folk! If they don't understand what true love is between a man and a woman, why should they understand the Love of The Church?

I think Padre J will be very tempted but he will ultimately not endanger his priesthood again. He's already being punished by being transferred out of SL never to return. Considering that he grew up there and his only blood relative is there that is more than anyone should have to take.

I don't see PJ being the one to do in Sev. In a way, that would be like Allie losing another family member because he would have to pay with his life or jail for killing someone. I mean, it would be dramatic, but in the sense of adding to what Allie has already gone through, she couldn't live with that.

I think it has to be someone outside her familial circle. I even throw out E-man because now that is her blood. So yeah, it leaves our obvious Ren ( NO NO NO ), maybe even Pato since he's shown he's not afraid to stick his neck out, but I kind of would love to see Don A surprise us. We think he came in the plot for nothing now, but maybe we get him suddenly show up at the end with a "Hey, forgot about me? This is for my sister..." and hopefully just beats the living crap out of him or drags up by a horse. Now, there's a good way for Sevto go? Poetic justice for almost killing Solitario too.

Can't rule out Val or Cande though. Both women would have nothing to lose in their way of thinking: one had her own Mis Plans go up in smoke and if Cande loses Cris, she'll just lose it. Don't think she'll just slink off to a convent.

Daisynjay

Hell yes, Daisynjay!! I love the horse dragging idea. Then let the horses stampede all over his sorry ass.

None of the unholy triumvirate of toxic females has her hands clean of anything. All three belong in prison. Candela is the one with the most motive to do Sev in because she has already lost everything. However, it would be difficult to prove her guilt in the kidnapping at this point and others are also guilty of being Vile's accessories after the fact.

Maybe Sev will kill Vile before someone else kills him. That would rob Uriel and Irma of their grandchild, so that seems unlikely.

For Sev to die in a fire would suit me, too. He gets a preview of Hell and it's poetic justice at the same time.

How about Humberto giving him a lethal injection, then taking his packed suitcases to the airport for the next flight to the Brazilian rainforest or something?

Daisynjay, I think I like your proposal best of all. Oh, I like the suffering scenarios described earlier but in terms of who takes Sev out or nearly does so, Don Tonio is a good candidate. He already said he had a bullet with Sev's name on it. That would be more likely than my scenario of Don Tonio going to the police with the report of a how-many-years-old rape and a suicide that could possibly be murder. Only, I would want Don Tonio to kill Sev in self defense. Yah. Self defense.

Anybody know what the penalty is in Mexico if a person kills another to defend someone in imminent danger of being killed. Say Don Tonio for some reason goes to ES say, to see Eman one more time and happens upon Sev the Dev about to do either Eman or Aldonza in and he takes Sev out. If that would exonerate him, that would be a good ending as well.

so..no convent for outwardly pious Candy?

I don't understand how that works. Is a convent a place where women can go to live if they are without social or other means of support, or when she's elderly or do you mean she would be seeking to be a nun?

Yeah...I would rather see Candy takevout Sev and end up in jail. I also like the idea of Don Ant defending Al and ridding the world of Sev the Dev. Either of those scenarios would suit me. Oh..what if Lola goes BSC when she finds out that Sev killed her mother ? Let's face it, almost everyone has reasons to despise Sev. The writers are keeping us wondering.

Have the writers completely forgotten about Sleeping Beauty Adriano?

Sev is getting increasingly careless and crazy. I do not think that he will go to jail. We all want to see him off the face of the earth, don't we ? Just me ?

what about Uriel when he finds out that Sev was responsible for Lardo's death ? The Big Bear attacked Sev once before.

"Have the writers completely forgotten about Sleeping Beauty Adriano?"

Probably. Was the only reason for all that to get Flavia back to SL and the gun away from Sev?

I'm ok with a Cande redemption if she is the one to start the dominoes that lead to Severiano's demise.

I'm also fine, for plots sake, with PJ removing his collar for a day to whoop some Severiano ass. At what point can PJ not take anymore? He knows Aldonza is in peril, Severiano tried to kill him, tattletaled to the bishop to leave Aldonza vulnerable, Roberta killed his brother and Severiano is involved and Severiano stole Emanuel. That's enough for any human and that is what he knows. What happens when he discovers Severiano raped his only living relative whom he adores? Or he stumbles on an attack in progress by the beast? Twiddle his thumbs and whistle or KILL the mutha.

But, I'm of the mind Cris will do daddy in.

Sara, that avatar is cute

Thanks, tofie. That's my dad circa 3rd or 4th grade.

I think I would actually be ok with a Cande redemption in a convent. I don't want a full redemption where she gets to live a full life with her son and grandchildren.

Nope! We ALL want to see him gone! I'm waiting for Adriano to wake up and testify against Sev before dying but he could end up being forgotten like Lola's devoured engagement ring.

And you are right. Lola would SO confront Sev which could be dangerous for her life. Don Tonio could should Sev to death in defense of Lola or. . .

Hey! How about Don Camilo shoot Sev in defense of Lola, Donnie or Eman? Terribly things have happened when they send him off to the store. Maybe one of these times he'll circle back, catch Sev in the act of some atrocity and send that devil straight to hell!

Or, *gasp* what if the police actually catch Sev in the act of committing said atrocity and take him out. That way no family or friends have to dirty their hands with his toxic blood! Yes!

And now, for a bit more positive speculation:

That last scene when Sev was paying Javier, I only saw it in slo mo when I was trying to understand a bit of dialogue but Jacinto walked by, pointedly looked at the money changing hands and then when both Javier and Jacinto were out of the screen shot, Sev gave them the strangest look. The first thing that came in my mind was that Javier is perhaps undercover. The way he was looking around Simoneta's house and his pocketing the pearls. Maybe he took that and some other things with her DNA on it -- hairbrushes, toothbrushes -- and gave it to the police.

Or. If he's not undercover Jacinto may be aware of Sev's plan to shadow (pun intended) Aldonza and he'll tell Eman. Remember, Jacinto and others banded together under Mel's leadership to spring Eman from jail. They must still be friends and allies of Eman!

What do y'all think? (I know I should have done more housework today but I'm a little excited: my daughter flew in to surprise me on my birthday (Tuesday) and we've got a whole week to hang out and she gets to see this show I've been carrying on about. She helped me to understand La Fea way back in the day when my decades-old Spanish was on life support. She's at a wedding right now so that's why I'm hanging so tough. Tomorrow we're off to see Grandma, aunties, uncles and cousins so I'll won't be buggin' y'all as much!)

That's wonderful, Lila!!! Have fun with your daughter and family!

Tofie at 6:52, that's what I'm talkin' bout! If PJ is involved, I'll settle for him just seriously maiming Sev. For killing, it can be Don Tonio in self defense or Don Camilo or the cops to stop the murder of (really anything, even a stray, rabid, mange-infested racoon) Eman, Aldonza, or Lola.

Thank you, Sara! Instead of feeling old because of the number of times I've been around the sun and having a fully independent living on her own child I'm trying to just enjoy the wonder of it all. We're special friends and we have a blast together. Oh yeah, and with the boys (Mr. Lila and adult son) as well! :D

Have a wonderful time with your family Lila...

I don't believe Sev will survive. I do not think he will die by any of the main characters hands but will die either in the midst of trying to harm someone else (likely by the police) or by his own hand.

It's been mentioned that of late Sev has come unhinged, and I totally agree. A creeping insanity seems to be replacing the evil logic and sneakiness so rampant earlier. His confrontation of Aldonza in church was the beginning.

I'm not quite sure his death will bring any comfort or peace. His specter will continue to haunt Aldonza in her heart, mind and dreams.

I see no redemption for Cande and suspect she will have an isolated existence.

Diana

Sara - how is your kitty faring?

I don't know if this has been mentioned but could Veronica be sev's daughter. A result fron the rape of do Anton sister

Thanks, Diana! Your analysis is on point. Well, even though all the pairing may not be what we'd hoped for and as a love story much remains to be desired, they certainly have stimulated a lot of lively discussion and speculation. It's kind of too bad it ends on a Monday and then right away we're into a new story. I get a feeling people are going to want to talk about the ending for a while. I wonder if a weekend discussion post for further discussion of a completed novela ever happens.

Not if she and her half brother Em have been sucking face.

My last comment was in response to the Anon question. Vero being Sev's daughter would make she and Em half siblings, wouldn't it?

But they have made a point that em and Veronica have not done the deed. She would be cris and em half sister.

Doris- Kitty has a lot of fluid on his lungs and when the vet put him on his side to do an x-ray, kitty "turned blue." So Kitty is spending the night and getting diuretics and cortisone. At last report he was breathing better, we're "not put of the woods yet."

I am so grateful to the patio for the concern and the distraction.

I don't see any reason Veronica would be Sev's daughter.

Thank goodness Kitty is feeling better!

I heard about a "Tia lover" in another novela. I hope the audience (in furture novelas) isn't being worked toward a half sibling hook up. Or has it already happened? What's happened here is bad enough! Yuck!

I'm half paying attention to a Chilean TN and there are first cousins that slept together.

Sara - bless your heart, I hope kitty will be much better tomorrow.
Who is your new avatar? No time to read all the comments if you already said.

Dad. Circa 3rd or 4th grade.

I thought veronica might be sev's daughter (of course Sev has no idea) because that might be the reason Don Anto has all that hate toward him. If I remember he said his sister was never the same after the rape and took her life. I think Veronica mentioned she doesn't remember her mom when she was talking to Em. I guess I am just trying to figure out that story line

Your dad is so cute, Sara! Love the picture. And glad your cat is getting good care, although fluid on the lungs sounds very worrying.

Your dad's pic is soon cute.

I watched the episode and all I have to add to the conversation is that it is a good thing Lola did NOT see the Em&Vero kiss!!!

Plus Veronica has the love for horses and is good with them just like Em and Sev. I don't think Sev has even met Veronica yet and if he knew she was his daughter she would probably would have been dead by now. Does anyone else think that could be possible?

Will the artist currently known as "Anonymous" please sign a name so we know what to call you.

Sorry this is my first time posting. I have been watching novellas for two years and caray caray has been my life saver. I enjoy and appreciate all the comments. My name is Marianne nice to meet the patio :)

Howdy, Marianne!

Everything you are saying makes complete sense. Normally I would still stick to the "but they kissed" argument, then I remembered the cousins that slept together on another TN I watch.

Hi Marianne! Welcome to the Patio.

It would be an interesting twist if Vero turned out to be Sev's daughter by way of DonAnt's sister that Sev raped. The show never told us what happened to her parents, or did it? Just that she is an orphan?

Awesome, thank you! Nice to meet you too, Marianne!

The closest degree of blood relations I've seen ever end up together were first cousins who weren't raised together. That was, uh, Curls and Sniffles (does anyone remember their real names?) on Manana es Para Siempre.

Andres (Marcelo Cordoba) on Amar sin Limites was, in fact, affectionately known as a "tialoving abuelokiller." The "tia" in question was his uncle's wife, I believe? And the abuelo was not his own.

And hi to everyone...sorry, patio peeps, I've been working on some stuff for the blog, which I'm really loving, but it leaves me with less time for chatting :(

I will never forget Curls & Sniffles from MEPS. Ever. gah.

Lila, lila, lila, love, love, love your recap.
I'm into 3s at the moment. :-D
Vile is feeling impowered, since she and "IT" did the yucky down the hall from his wife's bedroom. In her twisted mind she will have cris and the ES. Sev will get it for her. Stupid little addle brained twit.
Cande-"I've always suspected his story, but I never knew the details or wanted to be involved with such disturbing events." REALLY CANDELA!!!!!! She has really out done herself. WHAT ABOUT THE DISTURBING "EVEVT" When she thought it was a good idea to steal a womans new born
And then have her(the woman) believe the child died at birth. Wasn't that her brillant Idea? I think she has selective memory when it comes to her own faults. Poor dear, her brain slipped out of joint when she took a tumble down the stairs.
Cris is going to have to be stronge and turn his parents loose. It will rip his heart out, but he and aldonza and Eman can heal together,
And lola. When this nightmare is over.

Thank you Miss Lila.

Hello Marianne, welcome to the patio, Im kinda new myself. Girl you're going love it here.
These recapers are awesome, the best storytellers ever, they are some really fun cool people.
Enjoy, and welcome, :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D

Yes, welcome Marianne. The recappers work very hard on these resumens, so it's wonderful when a new person steps up and identifies herself (or himself) and let's them know they're appreciated. Makes all the difference.

Ok, Marianne, you are making some persuasive arguments. I hope they don't throw this in at the last minute, we definitely don't need it added to the mix. Antonio's sister committed suicide, I don't think she would do that after she gave birth, so I'm still thinking that they aren't related.

Thank you for the great recap Lila! Sorry you had to watch the Val/Sev scene. I really enjoy the siniling relationship between Aldonza ans Emanuel too.

Sara, thank you for thursday's recap, it was so much fun. I hope your kitty gets better, I'm sending you a hug from here.

By the way, I just noticed that I have La Duda on Netflix.

Jarocha

I don't think Eman and veronica are 1/2 sibblings, I think uncle donT would have done something or said something to stop the kissyface session long before now. I hope. Mysteries, don't you just love em?

Oooo! Thanks for that info, Jarocha!

(I've been enjoying YNCELH, but I'm always behind so I don't really comment. I'm glad you let us all know how good it was.)

Don t just found out eman was sev's son and he was not aware of the goodbye kiss. His sister could have killed herself over the guilt of being raped. Don T must have a good reason why he hates Sev so much and I think it could be he watched his sister depression during pregnancy and the final heartache her suicide. . I just think there is more to that storyline

Thank you, dear Nina! Nina, I love your enthusiasm! Isn't this thing gooood?

Thank you, Jarocha Y'all here at the patio have made me feel a lot better about watching the vile one cavort with the devil!

Welcome, Marianne! I would have to go back and look but seems like when Vero just came on the scene she told Eman her mother was off in Europe with her new beau or husband. Maybe our dear Vivi with the most impressive memory it's been my pleasure to meet will weigh in before I can go back and look!

Good point, Nina I don't think Eman and veronica are 1/2 sibblings, I think uncle donT would have done something or said something to stop the kissyface session long before now.

When Don Tonio found out that Eman was Sev's son, he would definitely have pulled their coats whether he saw the kiss or not. Don Tonio knew they were novios: he was with them when Eman formally asked Vero to be his novia. So nope. Not likely! Anybody have any idea what episode they entered the story?

Hey,Lila , our Lily of the Valley is going to be Five on Tuesday August 11. Small world. Have a wonderful birthday and a good visit with your daughter and family.

Sara...Still sending good vibrations for Kitty)))))).

Sara..your father is a cutie pie. He looks a little like my elementary boyfriend.

Wow...I coined "tialoving abuelokiller" in reference to my telenovio Marcelo. Does anyone remember the name of that tn ? Until that telenovela, I had only seen him as Fernando Colunga's right hand man in Alborado. I am a big fan of guaypo Marcelo, but I prefer to see him as a good guy.

Hello and welcome to Marianne. I love that name. I almost chose it for my daughter Julianne.

Hey, Susanlynn! What a great day it is for sure, now! Lily is her name? Bet she's a Cutie Pie!

;D

Lila...We think so. Tiger Lily has long strawberry blonde hair and hazel eyes. It is now almost to her waist. We get a lot of strangers coming up to comment on our sweet Lily. She wants a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting topped with strawberries

Viv I looked back and in episode 99 Veronica did state she did not remember her dad and her mom always had different husbands and boyfriends and is always traveling She still could be a child of rape and Sevs daughter and that is why Don T stepped in to be her father figure and we all know Don T is keeping a secret but I am glad Sev is not responsible for another suicide but sad for Vero for having an absentee mother.

Lila, I hope you have a wonderful time with your family!

I also wanted to respond to this: "I wonder if a weekend discussion post for further discussion of a completed novela ever happens." It's not unheard of :) I miss the days when there used to be a Cristina special the Monday after a show ended, so there was all that behind-the-scenes stuff to discuss. We might just have to do a random patio reunion.

Susanlynn, "tialoving abuelokiller" is still what we call Marcelo in my house. That name just stuck to him so well! That was Amar sin Limites...the show that seemed to go on forever.

Thanks, Marianne for looking that up but the secret I remember Don Tonio keeping is why he hated Sev and he revealed that to Aldonza, the rape of his sister. Again, if Vero was the product of the rape of Sev of his sister, Don Tonio would certainly know that. He would perhaps have innocently supported Eman being Vero's novio but once the secret of Eman's parentage was revealed, that he was Severiano's son, there is no way Don Tonio would continue to support Vero and Eman being novios knowing that they were half siblings. That seems pretty clear.

Oh, totally, Lila, Don Ant would have flipped out the minute he heard that Em was Sev's son! And he would have said something to Vero immediately.

Sara, I'm glad you like it. I didn't know if it would be that liked here, it's (much more) darker and bleaker than other telenovelas.

Jarocha

Yes, Jarocha it is. But there is something about it that I really like but can't explain. It really reminds me of good, old-fashioned serial drama.

Wow! Go away for a few hours, and the Patio breaks out into all kinds of interesting speculations.

Welcome, Marianne! It was the lovely Lila who recalled Vero's sad tale of the neglectful mother in Europe, which is exactly correct. ITA that Don Tonio would have flipped and said something once he learned Eman was Sever's kid had Vero also been Sever's.

Lila- Have a blast with your family!

Sara- Ugh! So sorry, amiga. Now that he's in the hands of the experts, I'm sure he'll be doing well soon.

Yeah, there was a moment while I was watching that I thought Televisa could have made a drama series with it. The way that particular episode felt it was more lilke a drama show than a telenovela. But I'm glad it was a telenovela anyway, because Televisa treats its dramatic shows like dirt and they have actually had some good ones.

Jarocha

Checking in this morning and wow, 168 comments and growing. Lord I'll miss this show's group. We are a chatty bunch.

First, Sara, so glad the kitty's ailment seems to be diagnosed and hopefully now on the mend. Bless the little furball. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

Second, welcome Marianne!! Interesting idea on Vero, but the only reason I sort of would be uncomfortable with that surprise is because of that goodbye kiss they really played up. But with this story, who knows what they may pull out of their hats these last weeks.

You know, there are usually a small number of select people it almost becomes predictable will be key in the main villain's demise--or we have some disaster hit them to take them out. Can't remember the last villain who had such a long, long, long list of people that are available for the deed. You all have brought up some interesting ideas. Wouldn't it be fun to have a TN version of Murder on the Orient Express...everyone gets to take a turn?? And just because I still love my horse idea, Solitario can give the last good kick to push him over a cliff or falls never to be found.

Daisynjay

Thanks daisynjay! As an animal lover, I am still firmly behind Solitario taking down Sev.

My fear right now is that we have 11 episodes left and it looks like a lot of the questions I had about the past will never be addressed. But I guess it doesn't matter because I don't think the writers even knew. I'm still more interested in Ray and Rob and Cande and Padre's stories. Though they seemed to think Cande and Padre's story was malleable.

"Ray and Rob and Cande and Padre's stories" Me too. This was not a historical family feud, Cande, Ray and PJ grew up together. How did Ray meet Roberta, where is she from, did anyone try to warn him off? I understand Severiano was a rebound for Cande because her love for PJ was not reciprocated but what was his family's standing in SL? Old family still trying to put on airs and Severiano saw an opportunity by marrying Cande?

It's been said before, but those back stories would have been far more entertaining than Lola/Mari/Em. And we could have had more Susana Gonzalez.

And did Adelina know Ray first, fall in love with him and introduce him to her hot crazy sister? Were they in SL or did Ray meet them elsewhere and if he did where? Was Roberta butthurt from the start because of some slight by Cande or was it just in her own mind because she had a nicer house? Did Roberta know Severiano prior to her marriage to Ray? We know the affair predated the birth of Aldonza and Cris. Gosh this definitely makes me want a prequel

Great point. For a TN that from it's title puts so much importance in the past, they did a rather poor job of really fleshing that out. I did think maybe if they didn't want to spend time on a set up period looking back when the parents were young to even explain how Cande and Sev got together, they would at least give us flash backs to people telling revealing stories. We got NADA.

Daisynjay

I agree that we did not get much of the pasado. I love Susana Gonzalos, but I did not like the Roberta character. She seemed permanently Pissed and frantic ...why? she seemed to have a pretty nice life...a seemingly nice husband, a devoted sister, a healthy baby, a home. Why did she always have a bee in her bonnet? a back story would have been great for that generation of characters. What made Sev into the devil he became ? Was he neglected or abused as a child ?

I still contend that Roberta had mental health issues and obviously addiction issues. It doesn't matter if she had a nice life. If a person has clinical depression (which is also possible in Rob's case) you don't look at them and say "what do have to be depressed about?"

Sara..so true. Roberta always seemed to be a tortured soul trying to escape with alcohol and sex. A tragic figure. Sev certainly took advantage of her and made things worse. I guess ADe and Ray felt helpless. Addiction affects everyone surrounding the addicted person.

And I'm sure the alcohol made everything worse. I just realized... Em's drinking is another dropped ball. He should have gotten help. He got physical with Lola and it was all solved with a simple apology. Blech.

Roberta displayed the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder. It would be interesting to know when this began and how her parents dealt (or didn't deal) with it. I have trouble imagining Ray courting her and falling in love with her. They would have ended up divorced eventually.

We hear nothing about any of her and Adelina's relatives.

There is exactly one flashback indicating that Severiano's grandfather lost El Santuario to Raimundo's grandfather in a poker game. No info about the year this happened or the ages of their children. Neither Severiano nor Candela have siblings and Candela only has the one cousin, Humberto. This would probably have been a substantially longer (and not necessarily better) story if they or Raimundo had more family.

If they were allowed to talk about this I'm sure Alejandra Barros and Alexis Ayala (who turns 50 today) would tell us their opinions of these characters' backstories. It's an exercise we did in acting and directing classes in college.

A prequel would be great. But I don't think they do that with tns , just do overs, thats what this is, with some of the same actors in different parts. So we're seeing the same thing twice. I never saw the first one, which is why this one is so good. Im really lookin farward to this week. They're pullin all the stops out. Its alway good to see the dogs turn on each other. Sev loves to smack people With that good arm, I'll bet cande never thought he'd hit her. She cut him down when she declared her love for the good padre, while being stuck with him. but she made that bed and she had to lay in it, she could have gotten out of it but her social status was more Important than peice of mind. Anyways, but I'm not saying physical abuse Is right cuz its wrong. I don't care what the situation is you don't batter up on people. But these folks are Reaping all the crap they sowed. You reap what you sow. And these peolpe planted some s*** seeds.

I have family here visiting and have only a couple of minutes to check in. Thanks, Lila for the wonderful recap. You got the HIGH and the LOW and handled it magnificently.

I would loved to have had you give us the exact words Sev told Vile as he gave her the whorish boot. It was classic. Regrettably, I've deleted the episode from my crowded DVR.

Only half way through the comments and I had a light-bulb moment. What if Don Antonio is the runaway lover of Marga. He seems to be about the right age and if indeed, he did leave SL to make his fame and fortune--he certainly did. Too much to hope for at this point.

Can't wait for Sim/Viv to be identified--by anyone!

Sara--Hope Mr. Kitty pulls through his present condition. Lots of hugs and petting for you and him.

*Sad news*
Mr Kitty passed away this morning.

Oh, no! Sara! I am so sorry! Love and Light to you, dear Sister! Please know we love you and have you in our prayers. Mr. Kitty suffers no more!

Thanks, Lila. I'm glad work starts tomorrow and that Sombra is in its final chapters-DISTRACTION!!

Anita: I would like Don Antonio to be Marga's long last love!

Anita I'm about to leave with my daughter to go visit the extended family, you have a great time as well. Vivi, thank you for the well wishes! Nina, they planted s*** seeds, indeed!

Anita, that is a direct quote when Sev told Vile she had confirmed for him that she was a prostituta not worth the air she breathed. Busy today but if I get a chance I will go back an give you a little more of his kick to the curb speech. Anyone else with time and access to the recording is welcome to do so as well. Not only will I be out of town but my computer is on the fritz so I may not get to it until tomorrow.

Y'all have a good day and keep the ball rolling!

I'm so sorry, Sara. No matter how many times we go through this it never gets any easier. He is either waiting for you in Kitty Heaven or will reincarnate to come back to you as a new kitten when he's ready.

Sorry Sara, I had a kitty passed 5 years ago and still not over it, he was 19, it was hard to remember when he wasn't around

Sara...I am so sorry. But you know you did everything medically you could. And you loved him right up to the very last minute. There is no unfinished business. Treasure all the sweet memories you have of this dear and loving companion.

"Sev told Vile she had confirmed for him that she was a prostituta not worth the air she breathed."

This makes me happier than it should. I guess I should hate Sev more than I hate Val, but I find her behavior so.damn.irritating.

It's like Mari is hellashelle's nemesis. Val is mine. There's a throat that needs multiple punches.

I'm so sorry for your loss Sara. ☹

I've been unable to sit on the Patio for more than a breath at a time this week, but I've peeked in. Just taking a few minutes out to say thank you to Lila for the great recap and I'm so sorry to Sara for the loss of Mr. Kitty. Send you hugs and best wishes, amiga.

((((((Sara)))))...so sorry about Kitty. At least he did not suffer too long. Sending you good vibrations )))) and a Navajo saying "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." I still feel sad when I remember our crazy black lab Toby. One day he just crawled under his favorite bush in our backyard and went to sleep. It was a peaceful way to leave this earth but still hard for his family. Please know that I am thinking of you.

P.s. Some happier news : I just read an interview with Diana Gabaldon saying that she has considered writing a three volume prequel to Outlander about Jamie's parents and his uncles Colum and Dougal. I finished book 4 and will go to the library tomorrow for book 5.

Welcome Marianne!

susanlynn, "Addiction affects everyone surrounding the addicted person". Very sad and very true.

Diana

Thanks, hellashelle, cathyx, Urban, JudyB and Susanlynn.

Susanlynn - I keep telling myself that I'm going to read Outlander again, but I'm wrapped up in the Spanish historical novel right now. It would make a great Telenovela... If they would take a risk on novelas de época again.

Sara, I just read your comment.

Words seem inadequate but know that I am praying for you and your family.

I believe that we reunite with our fur children in the afterlife as they are indeed part of our families.

I know you are in pain. Bless you for giving Mr. Kitty love, affection and a loving home. May God and time ease your sorrow.

Many hugs, Diana

Sara...Your dad's photo makes me smile every time I see it.

You must return to Outlander. Check out some of the dizens of videos set to music made from scenes on YouTube....wowee woo..whataman.

Offspring really likes the series, but I have to say I am a little afraid of it because I have fond memories of reading the first three books. I so rarely like TV and movie adaptations.

Sara...Trust me. You would like it. The author is very happy with this adaptation .

Author approval goes a long way. There's only been two seasons, right?

Thank you Diana.

The vet has a cow farm and Mr Kitty is being buried there. His "sister" is also buried there. (She passed away in 2005.)
