AuntyAnn debuted on Lo Imperdonable last week, to rave reviews.

Producer info

PS:

I think I'm putting the glossary on hold for now. If you need acronym help, this was posted on Telenovela-World last week:

http://foro.telenovela-world.com/n4/read-t.php?f=21&i=1107787&t=1107787#reply_1107787

It's a list of acronyms for pretty much every Televisa show since 2000. My doing it would just be reinventing the wheel and I'm a lazy son of a gun. ;-)

Producer info added. Thank you, Sara!

There is another proximas:

Amor De Barrio: produced by Roberto Hernández; starting Mane De La Parra and Renata Notni; also in the cast Ale Garcia, Pedro Moreno, Marisol Del Olmo, Jessica Coch, and Lisardo; the novela is based on the Mexican telenovelas "Muchacha De Barrio" (1979) and "Paloma" (19675). Started in Mexico on June 8th 2015.

Just got back from the movies where I saw "Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos" an animated kid's movie from Mexico that is just as entertaining for adults as for children. It is one of the Pantelion (Televisa-Lionsgate) fall offerings. It was #1 in México this weekend #8 here in the U.S. Familiar voices included: Maite Perroni, Ninel Conde, Sergio Sendel and Angélica Vale. Very entertaining and it made me laugh out loud. What more can I ask?

Thank you Diva.

Another show in process is, "Gran Hotel," by Roberto Gomez-Fernandez (El Color dela Pasion) which is supposedly coming to the US first.

-Encaje Rojo

The Spanish Gran Hotel is available on Netflix I believe.

I saw some ads for Season 2 of Velvet (Netflix) while watching ATres last night. Spain, textiles 40s and 50s? Looked interesting.

Added Gran Hotel...thank you, Encaje Rojo!

Doh!! How could I forget? Señora Acero 2 starts on September 22 on Telemundo. I can't wait!

I'm interested to see what they do with Simplemente María, because I saw the 1989 version with Victoria Ruffo in one of its many repeats and, well, it was dumb but that had more to do with the over the top dialogue and some ridiculous happenings at the end, not the basis of the story.

If they fix the dialogue and cut the ridiculousness we'd see a very typical novela, but instead of the classic cinderella story this is more of a tale of a woman who works very hard and with great dignity to be happy and get ahead in life, in spite of her humble beginings. I think that's what charmed so many from the older versions, bad dialogue and over the top dramatics aside. I don't know if Ignacio Sada will be up to the task but this just needs to be a little more Refugio para el Amor and less Por Siempre Mi Amor. I'm just not sure about José Ron and Claudia Álvarez, but she seems to be working hard to get the role right. Ferdinando Valencia is perfectly cast though.

Jarocha

I really want to see Simplemente Maria, Jarocha! I hope Univision airs it! What is it replacing?

Gracias, Mauricio and Sara...got Amor de Barrio and Senora Acero 2 added.

Sara: It's gonna replace Amores de Barrio here, at 4 pm. Amores de Barrio came after Muchacha Italiana but it's not doing well in ratings.

I think it's possible Univision will sent Amores de Barrio to the afternoons and pick either A Que No Me Dejas or Simplemente María after MIVAC.

Jarocha

A que no me dejas is another one I'm dying to see.

My guess is that "A que no me dejas" will replace Lo Imperdonable, because it was in Univision's upfronts for 2015-16, and as someone who has a degree in advertising, the networks are pretty much contractually obligated to air what they tell the advertisers they'll air. They're buying ad space to attract x audience, who are watching x program, at x time, and if Univision goes full monkeys picking names out of hats, that's a quick way to anger said advertisers and lose money. "El color" is also a remote possibility,(yet again, it was in the upfronts) but I have a feeling they're going to stick with a theme of darker novelas in the 10 pm slot, and "El color" will replace "Yo no Creo enn los hombres" when that ends in January-ish.

Looks like a novela de época is on the

horizonhttp://masquetelenovelas.blogspot.com/2015/09/erick-elias-protagonizara-la-version.html?m=1#comment-form

Mexican adaptation of Gran Hotel. According to this, it WILL be aired on Univision.

Lol, Rain, "monkeys picking names out of hats" is sure what it feels like sometimes :D

Sara, I've updated the Gran Hotel info.

That's going to be pretty exciting if it really is an historical novel. I just added the Spanish version to my Netflix list. It's set in 1905. Not sure if that still qualifies as a novela de época.
