Antes Muerta que Lichita #38 Thursday 11/12/15: The Episode Where Alicia has a Really Really Good Day.

Scenes are condensed and likely out of order.

We left off with Roberto trapped under Don Augusto desk while Luciana throws a fit with her Tio.

Luciana whines like a teenager not getting her way. She wants to have drive the company car, wants Alex as a BF and the best position at Iconika. Most of all she wants the pest, Lichita, fired! Don Augusto surprisingly tolerates Luciana's tantrums. Alicia and Alex will remain an item even through he does not approve of her because it is convenient for him and Alex's image. Don Augusto admits his respect for Luciana's need for power and control. She truly is his blood which loses meaning on Luciana. She does not get why she Alex cannot see her as a contender...I mean look at her...really look! Don Augusto repeats that Alex will never fall in love with a WOMAN......(pin drops)...other than Alicia Gutierrez, so give it up and get out.

Alex drops in on Alicia's parents during their 15 minutes of fame with the Cara's reporter. He wants them to know he is very serious about the relationship with their extraordinary daughter. Nacho gives Alex the third degree until Alicia drags Alex outside. She wants to know why he is trying to prolong their false relationship. Alex is not ready to confess the truth to his family yet. Alicia feels bad for lying to her family. He reminds her that she should take advantage of their false relationship. She needs this to continue in order to keep her current position at Iconika. Alicia eventually concedes.

Don't think, just lose yourself into these sparkling
grey eyes.

Bea attacks her plants and Valeria with some spray while conveying her dislike of her son's relationship with an Iconika employee.  She does not think that Alex is in love with Alicia. Valeria does not understand what the problem is...Alicia is a nice, pretty girl. Bea does not like what Valeria has to say. Later Bea ventures in Alex room muttering that her son is "normal" and a man 100% (did something lead for her to think otherwise? She seems clueless besides Augusto's subtle comments). Alex walks in and she questions him about the model he dated in the US (Luciana spilled the gossip). Alex being the horrible liar that he is hedges and denies this. At least there was nothing serious. He is about to say something further but Bea zooms out the room with excuses before he uttered another word (I think we know Bea's middle name is Denial).

Omniscient Augusto somehow knows that Roberto is under the desk and calls him out. Roberto claims that he heard nothing but the heat of the argument...had no idea what they were talking about. Augusto menacingly asks for Roberto's silence and discretion. The reason he called Roberto was for a favor. While Alicia and Alex were out and about at night...Alex was mugged but does not want to report it. He wants Roberto to find out what really happened. Roberto asks why does he not just hire a private investigator. Augusto believe he can trust in Roberto for his discretion...he does not want a scandal spreading.

Braulio and Brisa come to an agreement to become roomies again. She will pay have the rent and try not to get into altercations with the neighbor. He also makes her promise that his house wont be filled with her "hippie" items. Later, Alicia finds Braulio and asks him to record the video for Marcelo's new product line.

Sandra walks on Alicia thanking Fatima for always supporting her (she just gave her a picture frame???). Sandra remains icy towards Alicia and notices that she is working on projects that are not related to Iconika. Alicia ensures Sandra what she is doing for Marcelo is during her free time.

Julia Roberts who??...megawatt smile is my middle name.

Alex, Chuchette, Luciana and Roberto are getting ready for a meeting. They talk of the formal dinner with the API folks. Chuchette tries to make Luciana jealous but she does not care since Lichita is not going either. Alex corrects her and states that he changes his mind. Alicia walks in ready to talk about her projects. Roberto feeling super jealous announces to Alicia that Alex invited her to the API dinner. Alicia is surprised and they actually have a couple moment of smiles not lost on Roberto. He comments on how much love is in the air all over a dinner. When they are ready to actually talk about the project they can call him and he flounces away.

A new character, Luis Joa, presents himself to the receptionists who wont let him enter since he does not have an appointment. He seems like a jerk who is full of himself and I am not too surprised that Magos recognizes him as "El Guerro(??) from high school. She eventually allows him to get a visitor pass (I am not quite sure what his business is at Iconika...I thought i heard he was looking for job but couldn't quite catch the full convo). Up to no good Magos confides to her friend Gerrys that she believes she just found Magos dad. Magos thinks that having a father in Magos life will be good for her (by her I mean Magos and not Ximena)...costs can be shared and he can help a innocent, helpless mother like herself (hehe). Before Luis leaves she manages to grab his card with contact information.
Luciana is like the energizer bunny who just does not stop. She grovels and begs for Chuchette to get her on the invite list for the API party. Surprise Surprise that she wants to play a mean trick on Alicia so she can look like a fool at the dinner. Chuchette tries to play nice with Alicia and offers to bring a dress to her house. Alicia looks not at all suspicious (ugh) at the offer and seems to accept.

"I've told you a million times glasses don't automatically
make you smart. I've tried."

At the house, Magos invites Ximena to spend time with her outside the house. Everyone looks suspicious including myself but encourage Ximena to take her mother up on the offer. We see that Magos takes Ximena to a restaurant that is her little girl's standard. Ximena complains that Magos is boring and the food and drinks are much better the way her grandmother does it. Luis joins Magos thinking there is some high school reunion. No shame Magos dismisses her lie and wants them to catch up on old times. Ximena comes up and is introduced as Magos's daughter. They bond instantly (so he must really be the father??) over magic tricks.  They even have similar mannerisms (ear tugging)...(guess a DNA test is not even needed at this point).

Alicia arrives at the party in a flattering blue dress with matching Grimaldi heels she learned to walk in. She gives herself a confidence pep talk she learned from Marcelo and enters the party with Alex. Bea comments that Alicia cleans up well. Apparently Luciana and Chuchette planned a wardrobe function mishap for our dear Alicia.

The Iconika crew and family are seated together when the API mean come to the table to meet Alicia. She seems to be making a good impression. The Supermarket Mas guy appears as well and fails to remember her name for the umpteenth time. She knows what is coming though....he remembers as the vaca mas feliz! She tells herself whether she should go along with it or run away with mortification. She embraces it and joins in on the cow jokes. She soon has everyone laughing at the table minus cranky Luciana. Alicia's impression with the API folks is not lost on Don Augusto.

They don't call me "Lucha" on the Patio
for nothing!

One of the API guys start choking on what seems to be a carrot. No one seems to be aware of this but Lichita who performs heimlich maneuver. The carrot flies out of his mouth and plops right into Luciana's chest (hahaha). Luciana freaks out and tries to grab Bea's hand as if to take it out (LOL). Meanwhile the man is in awe and thanks Alicia for saving his life (all this is caught with the cameras). Looks like Alicia's day might shine even brighter tomorrow.

Hola! Wanted to try something new and follow Ezra's suit with screenshots. Hope you all enjoy them.

Interesting episode that was made better by it also being a Nestor free episode.

Not sure how I felt about Magos tonight. It seemed like she was using Ximena as a pawn to get what she wants (money?? somebody to take care of Ximena and herself as well??) .

Loved Jealous Roberto much better than whiny I'm so sad Roberto. His comments prior to that meeting....lol!"

I really like Valeria...I mean she seems superficial at times but she is more reasonable the Bea and her daughter combined so that says something. I like how she respects the Gutierrez family and is not so bent on class. But really what does she do but hang around?? She needs a purpose...

CeCe, thanks for the excellent recap and screen caps. Loved your captions especially: "They don't call me 'Lucha' on the Patio for nothing!"

Great episode!

So how did Augusto know Roberto was hiding under his desk? That was creepy in its own way.

Seems like Augusto and Beatriz both have more than an inkling that their son is gay.

CeCe, "Don't call me 'El Güero' call me 'Luis Joa' " is such a jerk. Not surprised Magos was attracted to him. I think Magos would be attracted to anybody who could give her a "free ride" or really any money and if Ximena is a part of that, no problem. She will use anyone. I wonder what "El Chanclas" is like. Just was hoping that Ximena could luck out on decent father since she has had no luck on who her mother is.

My favorite parts:

Alicia stepping on Luciana's foot.
Alicia embracing "la vaca feliz".
Alicia doing the Heimlich on the poor old choking API member. Isn't this the second time something has landed in Luciana's décolleté?

To anyone who watched Amores con Trampa, wasn't the choking board member also on the board of Santiago's/Facundo's company? Sure looked familiar.

Gracias, CeCe! The screen caps were great. The "Lucha" caption was good, but the ones for Alex and Marcelo were bullseyes. *sigh* Eddie Villard is an angel. *twitterpation* such a gentle and sweet soul. And Marcelo, you fill the screen. More of him please.

I love your thoughts on Valeria, CeCe. She really is a little more reasonable and down to earth. She does need purpose though.

I haven't watched yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing Alicia turn the Vaca around. She's so classy. So much more so than everyone else.

Jarifa- when I watch the episode I'll pay close attention to the choking guy.

Thank you again for the detailed recap.

Great one!

CeCe, this was so much fun!

I loved every minute of last night's episode and your recap mirrored it perfectly. The screen shots added so much!

"Julia Roberts who??...megawatt smile is my middle name" and "They even have similar mannerisms (ear tugging)...(guess a DNA test is not even needed at this point)" were among my favorites.

Loved the fact Alicia joined in the fun, becoming part of the party rather than the butt of jokes. Holy cow! (Sorry, couldn't resist ;)) Everyone clearly likes and admires her (well, at least anyone who matters does. Clearly, Nestor, Chuchette and Luciana do not). As you noted, Augusto drank in the entire scene.

Alicia looked beautiful - that shade of blue was divine.

Jarifa, I do recall the board member looking very familiar. I'm sure you are right as to where we've seen him before.

Not only did Alicia lighten the party mood with her self deprecating humor, she managed to save a life.

Not bad for a night's work.

Diana

Had to look it up: it was a flying snail that ended up in Chuchette's décolleté.

Ohhh, forgot the best part - thanks for reminding me Jarifa.

I kept thinking that flying food was "over the top". I'm sorry, I so enjoy my own juvenile sense of humor. I'll stop now (if I must :)

Great sharing these fun moments with the patio,=.

Diana

Good one, Diana, "over the top" yes!

Diana- may I sit with you at the juvenile sense of humor table? Flying escargot and the flying heimlich food jokes never get old to me.

*facepalm* I totally missed the humor or "over the top"

Well played, Diana.

CeCe- What a wonderful episode and a fabulous recap to go with it. I love the screen shots. Alicia did indeed have a good day.

Sara- Well there you go. Magos mentioned the dude whose name she couldn't remember, who was likely Ximena's bio dad, and then he pops up next episode. Shocker for me, because the actor plays a sweet good guy in Yo No Creo, so seeing him here playing a male version of Magos (selfish, irresponsible, disrespectful), was discombobulating. At least he was really good with Ximena. However, I still think Magos should have both him and Chanclas do a DNA test, and not just decide to declare Luis Joa, El Güero, the baby-daddy because he's a rich fresa.

Loved how Alicia turned the whole cow joke around at the API dinner. The Mas owner isn't likely to forget her this time. I just hope that the prank with the dress Chuchette and Luci planned doesn't completely humiliate Alicia.

Thanks everyone! I've seen that chocking board member on several novelas but the only thing that comes to mind right now is the main lawyer in Sortilegio.

Jarifa: I agree with you on Magos. and Luis's saving grace is that he is good with Ximena. I was totally surprised that he acted like a decent human being. Also Augusto must have eyes everywhere...

Diana: You are on a roll today..."Holy cow", "over the top". Love your sense of humor.

Favorite parts for me:
- Roberto acting jealous
- The looks Marcelo gave Braulio during the video shoot
- Bea freaking out when Luciana tries to grab her hand to remove the food
- Alex and Alicia scenes! They have a good rapport when they act like a team.

Loved the recap!

The choking guy does look familiar but I can't remember if from ACT.

Loved Rob getting all mad before the meeting and just rambling with his comments before stalking out. Ah he is in a bad way, all of his own making.

Alicia looked beautiful and she was just great at the dinner. Love that Augusto noticed.

I didn't think I would like Val when she arrived on the scene but she is turning out to be one of the more decent people on the show.

So worried that all of Alicia's hard work will go out the window with whatever dress malfunction Luci and Chuchette have cooked up. I think it should be obvious who planned it and I hope Augusto takes it on their hides! For them to do this with him there, knowing how much is on the line for Alex, isn't a smart move.

Magos just sees another person she can milk money from. Can she go any lower? The guy didn't come across well but I give him credit for having fun with Ximena and treating her well. His whole demeanor changed with her. If Ximena is his child, would he fight Magos for custody? Could he win if all of her bad deeds finally come out? I would hate to see Ximena separated from her abuelos and tia but Magos could sure use a reality check.

Reading the comments makes me anxious for this day to end so I can get home and watch last night's installment before tonight's episode.

The comments about Magos are worrisome. There's trouble brewing. And it won't be good for Ximena. My fear is that Ximena somehow ends up a ward of the state staying in the orphanage with Mateo. I hope I'm just thinking over dramatically.

I love your recaps CeCe, thanks

"Alex will never fall in love with a WOMAN......(pin drops)...other than Alicia Gutierrez"

I knew it was coming but great shot with that carrot. I never would have believed how funny Ingrid is, I still see the look on her face.

Magos is low down

Sara, Mateo became a ward of the state because he had no family available. Ximena has her gp's and aunt so that should keep her out of the system. My worry is that her father takes her away.

Thanks for allaying my fears. :-)

It does seem highly possible that the father could fight for custody. Especially if Magos goes to jail for vandalizing that car.

and possibly selling "hot" goods

Thank you CeCe for the fine recap. Oh yes, the screen shots are nice too. Screen shots are always an added treat.

Yes, Alicia did have a good night last night. Her personality is just so sweet and endearing that it would be hard for anyone not to love her---anyone except Luciana and Bea that is. It is easy for me to see how the old timers liked her at the dinner last night. Give Alicia just a little time and she can win over just about anyone.

I didn't know about the dress malfunction trick that probably will come tonight. I hope it ends up a non malfunction or at the least gets caught in time so as not to cause our sweet Iconika up-and-comer any embarrassing moments. If it's what I think it is, that would be a very low and dirty trick that for sure would be anvil worthy.

Magos---What can I say. I hope that this guy turns out not to be the jerk that we think he is.

must see tv
the gringo

Carvivlie: I did not even think of Luis trying to fight for custody. Unless there is more to his character I still cannot seem him being a more responsible version of Magos.

Does anyone know what he was doing at Iconika anyway? I thought I heard he was looking for a job but I could be mistaken. Iconika must have a Help Wanted sign through its revolving door cause...

Gringo: let's hope that the dress malfunction fails on Luciana and Chuchette....they've had a bad streak lately and I hope it continues for a little while longer.

CeCe: I couldn't catch what he was doing at Iconika but he seemed really upset, like he was expected. Was it mentioned that he comes from rich folks or he has money? Just wondering if he may have a connection to Augusto or Alex. He and Alex look about the same age.

I just peeked on Hulu. Luis just got hired. And OMG is that Leo from Yo no creo?

Carvivlie- Yes, he comes from money. He got kicked out of all the good high schools, which is how he ended up at Magos' school.

Thanks Vivi, I missed that info. The comedies are so much harder for me to try to understand what they are saying.

Thanks for filling in that info Vivi. It is sometimes hard for me to catch what everyone is saying as well. So Luis is a male version of Magos and Luciana combined....interesting.

Thanks, Cece. Very late to the party. Your recap and screenshots are a blast.
