Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #61 Tue 11/17/15 (Mex 89) Buncha lying liars

Benito can try to fake it all he wants, but Pedro heard what he heard.

Gael confides in Roxi about Osvaldo's threat.  She knows Osvaldo's capable of some truly assy behavior, but she doesn't think he'd come at Gi after everything Pedro has done.  She even apologizes for exposing them to Eloisa.  She half-jokingly says if he's going to break up with Gi, he'd better not kill her in the process!

Pedro goes to Gianna's room looking for Fi.  She's playing with her balloons, which unfortunately does not include inhaling the helium and inviting Pedro to do the same.  She's looking for Gael, but he won't answer his phone.

Gael now confides in Benito that he's supposed to break up with Gi and he's totes conflicted about it.  He asks for Benito's advice.  "As your bro…quit acting like a coward!  Fight for her!  Either confront your family or tell her you're breaking up because you're a fraidy-cat."

Fi tries to thank Eloisa for letting them return to the ranch and Eloisa is grumpily silent through all of Fi's chatter.  Though, she does threaten to crack a smile when Fi says she never sees Eloisa outside in the daytime and thought she might be a vampire.  Eloisa tells her she was busy dealing with family business.  And by the way, Fi her sister had better not try to seduce the men of the household.

Since the cards told Fed that Aitana would be dangerous to her, she's not looking favorably on this new partnership with the de la Riva Palma family.  Dante mocks her delusions and says she's bipolar which is both unkind and factually incorrect.  Bro, do you even DSM?

Diana has hatched a new plan.  She will "dar a desear" ("give [herself] to be desired"; play hard to get).  Diana's mom says she's going to take Beto's custody away from her if she doesn't cool it with this Vitto nonsense.  And also…QTH, Diana?!  Is this the best you can do?!

Fi and Pedro: Pedro doesn't want to marry Aitana.  It's all just a deal with Eloisa.  If she doesn't want to marry Vitto, then they can…say it with me…FIGHT FOR THEIR LUUUUUUUUUUURVE.  Dante gets some suggestive photos of face caressing.  I'm not even listening.  Just shut off the sound and pretend that they're making concrete plans to run off to Vegas together.  That way you won't hear them saying they have to talk to their respective unwanted novios.  Nothing good ever comes of "Just let me talk to ___ and then we can be together."

Benigno (Aitana's dad) brags to Eloisa that he got hold of all the rogue shares, just like he promised.  He's hanging out in the boardroom, having someone serve him a drink and lying to Eloisa about the other company being nothing more than bored rich kids who really made him pay through the nose to save her bacon.  Eloisa tells him not to complain, which cracks me up..the ego on this broad!  They'll be in touch about wedding plans.  Aitana gives papi some halfhearted props.  She manages to be even less enthusiastic when he says they really need a baby to seal the deal.

Fed is not impressed with Dante's photography skills. And she can't have Eloisa finding out Pedro's plans and disowning him and having him run off with la Italiana and leaving OSVALDO to run the company.  Her inheritance would be GONE.  She's got a plan, though, that involves Dante putting the video on a USB.

Fidel questions Pedro's determination to say "F it all!"  Don't we all.  He's happy to hear Pedro making this decision so confidently.  Uh, I would be, but I don't buy it for a second.  Fidel's in his corner, no matter what…as long as he's not the one who has to break the news to Eloisa.  Hugs, back pats, and high fives all around.  The recapper yawns.

Fi is off chirping to Gianna.  Gianna assumes they'll be kicked out again.  And she needs the ranch air or she'll diiiiiiiiie.  "Oh, don't worry, Pedro has a plan!  He thinks of everything!"

Aitana kisses Eloisa's butt for her brilliant wedding scheduling.  Insecure Aitana is insecure.  Eloisa encourages her to show Pedro her usefulness as a wife.

Simona took a walk with Gi and insisted on carrying her back to her sickroom.  Gi talks about how she missed them all.  She still hasn't managed to get in touch with Gael, but he's lurking outside the door listening, as Simona discovers when she goes to close the door.  Simona leaves and Gael acts all shifty.  And then he breaks up with her.

Fed shows the video that Dante made to Vitto.

Another scene and Gi and Gael are still mid-breakup!  I don't want to see this!  Of note: Gi says they "almost" made love.  For anyone keeping score at home.  Gael plays the "My grandma's making me break up with you" card.  He remembers Os threatening her life and says it's best.  Gianna sobs that "There are men out there who would do anything for the love of their lives."  Oh, honey, sure, but…on a telenovela?  Not lately.

Oh, save your sniffing and your crocodile tears, Vitto!

Pedro and Fi smooch some more outside the house.  He says he has their getaway car ready and he's been to the bank and pulled out a bunch of cash assets.  No, not really.  Fi starts getting worried about Gi.  Pedro vows to fight for them, which is code for "Yeah, I really hadn't thought about it, I have no plan, and I figured something was going to happen soon enough that I could use an excuse to call this off, so I didn't really want to waste the brain cells on it."  Sorry, don't listen to me…just shut off the sound and look at the pretty pictures.  Don't listen to them planning to go break up with their respective SO's like, now.

Sonia and Os wait for Fed to walk into the house before having a loud staged conversation about it being totes ok to kill a family member who "betrayed" the family.  Os threatens and insinuates and finally says Fed is the one who leaked the info that lead to the stock screwup.  Sonia says the security guard told her that Fed was skulking around on Sunday.  Eh, I think I'm warming up to Team Osvonia.  I love how they're totally wrong, but they're making Fed sweat anyway.

Rox invites Benito up to her room later tonight to watch Netflix and chill.  They're nearly busted snogging outside by Joaquina and they both pretend to be doing sit-ups in the grass.  I admit, I chuckled.  Joaquina knows what's up and warns Rox that Eloisa's not going to like her shagging the chauffeur.  Rox says if Joaquina rats her out, she'll have her fired.  For once, Joaquina doesn't look like she's going to burst into tears.

Gael goes to the fancy funeral home/columbarium to tell his mom he doesn't know what to dooooooooooo!  I imagine that Gael's mom and Tania are hanging out on the other side somewhere sharing some popcorn and listening while Tania shakes her head and says "These Angeles boys.  I basically willed Pedro to Fi and he's still hemming and hawing about it."  Gael goes for the pills again…FFS!

Roxana shrieks at Eloisa to fire Joaquina.  Not that she has any good reason.  Eloisa even asks Joaquina why Rox wants her fired rather than listen to Rox and Joaquina comes right out with it--"I saw her with the chauffeur."

Aitana comes over to the home office, crowing about how her daddy fixed All The Things.  Not that she understands the details, so don't ask her.

Fi goes over to Vitto's office, with her puke-green cardigan matching her face.  Small talk about how Gi's doing so great at the ranch.  Vitto fakes a headache and tries to put Fed's plan into place, but Fi cuts him off…not that she gets very far before Vitto interrupts her and adds a fake cough to his mystery fatal malady that's going to kill him soon.  Fi: "Say what?!"

OK, I pretty much recapped as I watched the episode, and it's only 12 minutes past the hour, so either nothing happened or I FF>> too much or something...I'm going to go back and read and make sure.

You're OK, Kat. This was a full episode, #89. And so begins Vittorio's guilt-trip...

Wow, Diva! Record time! Mille grazie, eh! I did something I never do: I enjoyed your recap BEFORE the episode and I'm sure it's much better. You got off some good ones:

She's playing with her balloons, which unfortunately does not include inhaling the helium and inviting Pedro to do the same.

If she doesn't want to marry Vitto, then they can…say it with me…FIGHT FOR THEIR LUUUUUUUUUUURVE.

Nothing good ever comes of "Just let me talk to ___ and then we can be together."

Fidel questions Pedro's determination to say "F it all!"

Gianna sobs that "There are men out there who would do anything for the love of their lives." Oh, honey, sure, but…on a telenovela? Not lately.

He says he has their getaway car ready and he's been to the bank and pulled out a bunch of cash assets. No, not really.

Tania shakes her head and says "These Angeles boys. I basically willed Pedro to Fi and he's still hemming and hawing about it."

Once again, the best thing about this show are brilliant and hilarious retellings like this and suffering together with youze guys! I may watch this tomorrow.

Thanks, Cap'n Diva!

Gracias, Lila :D You're so right. If I was required to give a factual and faithful re-telling of the events exactly as they occurred, I'd be faking my own death on a nightly basis. I have so little patience for most? All? of these characters. Even our baddies are letting me down in the "bad" department. Fi and Pedro's weak-willed natures are the biggest villains on the show.

Lol, Urban, thanks! I thought I was fabulous, but I'll take "OK." Hey, at least I'm better than Vitto :D

I meant you didn't miss anything.

Are the novelas pre-empted on Thursday? If that's the case I have to recalculate the estimated finale date for YNCELH.

Fi and Pedro's weak-willed natures are the biggest villains on the show.

Yah, girl, and we're the victims. We really ARE in TSTSNBN territory! I specifically remember thinking Pablo and Esme were villians in their little "love" story! Lawdy, lawdy!

Somehow, it still isn't quite as bad as TSTSNBN, not that I can put my finger on why exactly. I guess...we're getting the occasional chuckle? And the people are prettier? And there aren't anywhere near as many racist or classist slurs getting thrown around? So it's like...not better, just...not as bad?

Diva - thank you for the snarky recap! It was full of great zingers, too. LOL

So, Gael and Gi did not quite go ALL the way. Glad (?) that was cleared up. For scorekeeping sake. ;-)lei will watch this in the morning and follow your sage advice to turn the sound off and watch the pretty pictures. I might even make up my own version of the dialogue.

Gracias, doris! I'm glad we don't have to worry about Gi being pregnant, but WOW...she really needs to get her heart issue under control if she's ever going to actually have sex with Gael...yikes! I can't wait to hear the dialogue you come up with :D

Not to mention having a serious consultation with a geneticist if they have any ideas about having babies.

Thank you Diva, you made me laugh with your spicy recap. Too bad that Gael finished his relation with Gianna, he always ends up doing exactly what Assvaldo wants him to do. Doesnt it sound ironic that assvaldo prohibits gael having a relation with gianna for being sister of a servant when he married with sonia who was a waitress and cabaret singer?

Oh Vitto was already a headache and now he is gonna be a nightmare torturing poor fiorella with his fake illness. Oh no, let me guess what is gonna happen. Fiorella is gonna be so stupid to believe his lie and she is not gonna break with him. Oh maybe she can think in her mind oh this old dude is gonna die so if I marry with him I would be her heir when he dies so lets continue with the fake love farce.

Holy moly Kat! This was so funny and dare I say, absolutely on target on what was REALLY happening versus what these dunderheads are saying to each other. This on Petey had me snorting into my coffee:

"Yeah, I really hadn't thought about it, I have no plan, and I figured something was going to happen soon enough that I could use an excuse to call this off, so I didn't really want to waste the brain cells on it."

I will continue to give Gael a bit of a pass because this young man has been beaten into the ground by everyone who was supposed to care for him and met by indifference by the rest. Those voices of contempt in his head aren't totally shut off and having a therapist who was worthless didn't help. Sure Bennie, lord love him, gave good advice, but abuse victims need more than that. I still hold out hope for him.

But for everyone else, cripes. Fi with her "Petey thinks of everything"...my lord, she is not a good judge of character is she. Despite all she's gone through and seen for herself, she's still hanging unto that stupid fairy tale attitude. Does she really see and know this guy standing in front of her or is he just happen to look like the creepy figure on the top of the wedding cake? They come on with their face holding, I check sport scores.

And I use to like Quina, but her insistence her daughter be rich and stay in the money...how dare she like a chauffeur, dead to me woman. Dead to me.

When you find yourself rooting for Aitanna's dad to take these people down, you know the writers have really made a mess of things.

Daisynjay

Vito's newest lie and Fiorella's options:

1. Go to a priest first. Should a man in this condition even get married?
2. Get him immediately to Gianna's original doctor. At this man's age it should be his ticker, no?
3. If the above two don't work, should he really consummate the marriage? Surely that could kill him.
4. Take the chance that it would (if her stomach can handle this).

Kat, fantastic recap!

“Osvaldo's capable of some truly assy behavior”, “Fi goes over to Vitto's office, with her puke-green cardigan matching her face” and “Gianna sobs that "There are men out there who would do anything for the love of their lives." Oh, honey, sure, but…on a telenovela? Not lately” were among many favorites.

“Diana has hatched a new plan. She will "dar a desear" ("give [herself] to be desired"; play hard to get)”. Now, the logic of this plan escapes me. In order to play hard to get, doesn’t the person to be ensnared in the trap have to be even mildly interested?

Like you doris, I am very relieved Gi and Gael didn't do the deed. Gael is in a terrible position. He knows what Os is capable of, having been abused as a child and he simply isn't strong enough to stand up to him. I think he should circumvent Pedro (who can't handle his own life anyway) and go straight to Fidel for help.

I'm happy Quina is getting stronger and not letting every poisonous word from Roxi's mouth wound her. Let's see how Ellie handles the news...

Thanks Kat!

Diana

"Hugs, back pats, and high fives all around. The recapper yawns." You are a trooper, Diva, and I may take your advice. If I watch this, turn off the sound and just look at the pretty people. Alas, I watch telenovelas in order to learn Spanish so even that is not a good idea.

Love your Team Osvonia and also your quip about Tania "on the other side"....
"These Angeles boys--I basically willed Pedro to Fi and he's still hemming and hawing".

Guess we have months more of said hemming and hawing. Give me strength! Thanks for watching this so I didn't have to, and coming up with such a witty re-telling of this endless circling the drain.

I'd love to have seen discussion posts and e-mails from the original Mexican audience. They must have felt just as frustrated with all the missteps and misfires that go on in this story. I have a theory, though:

Could the characters be dumbed down deliberately so the audience feels smarter than they are? Are the writers also deliberately inviting speculation about parentage and other secrets? Do they pay any attention at all to discussion boards and e-mails?

"Could the characters be dumbed down deliberately so the audience feels smarter than they are?"
If this is the case, it speaks strongly to the decline of overall intelligence in mankind. Oh, wait, the inexplicable popularity of "reality" TV factors into this. ~yikes!~

"When you find yourself rooting for Aitanna's dad to take these people down, you know the writers have really made a mess of things."
Daisynjay - Mrs. Gonzalez's eighth grade class writing team might take offense.
Just sayin'... ;o)

"If she doesn't want to marry Vitto, then they can…say it with me…FIGHT FOR THEIR LUUUUUUUUUUURVE. "
What? No cue to drink ... er .... eat chocolate? LOL

Gracias, Marla! Aw, no, Fi's too much of a good girl to think she'll marry him and get his money. But Diana will think it! Why she hasn't posed it that way to Vitto...oh, right, then she'd have to convince him that's not what she's doing. Poor Diana.

Gracias, Daisynjay! Oh, Gael gets so much slack from me. In some ways, he's much more mature than the other guys in the family, but he has that vulnerable side to him. I'm hoping we get lucky and he changes his mind about the pill.

I just wish Aitana's dad had a better reason for wanting the money and Aitana was on board and not being treated like a pawn. Every time he mentions a grandchild and she pouts I feel sorry for her and that's hampering my enjoyment!

Gracias, Diana! Their Diana's "plan" is a total head-scratcher. She knows how oblivious Vitto is. That's not a guy you play hard-to-get with. That's a guy who lets you walk away and doesn't remember your name in a week.

Gracias, JudyB! I'm so sorry, I keep trying to remember to add some vocabulary, but all the interesting words are coming out of *my* mouth and I'm sure everyone's heard those before!

lol, doris, that's right, I forgot to cue the *drink* or *chocolate* for FFTL. I think I assumed by the time I grabbed any, the winds would have changed already.

Are shrinks mandatory reporters in Mexico? If so Alina might be required to rat Assvaldo out over the threat to Gia's life.

On another note I wonder whether Gael would be better off with a male therapist.

I watched, left the sound on, but no closed captions so I missed a lot of it. LOL

Apparently Quina and Hell-oisa never watched ADCLG, in which Altair Jarabo's character ended up with the chauffer, Rocky(?).

Pedro lines.....Fiorella lines .... lather, rinse, repeat:
Ped --- "Fi, we will be together and FFOL as soon as I get a brain and come up with a plan"
Fi ---"Squee!"
Good thing I stocked up on holiday peanut M&Ms. The supply is dwindling.

Aitana looked a bit sick to her stomach when Daddy Dearest was going on about taking over Los Angeles' fortune. Imagine her thought bubble --- "Eh, Papi, how is this marriage with Petey supposed to work if you fleec his family of their fortune and he's not all that into me, out of the gate? Will I end up in Ladies Home Journal's CanThisMarriageBeSaved column?"

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Diva you are the best. Thanks for the fun filled recap.
Pedro is obviously not your favorite person, but poor kid is learning. Give him a break. He has had to overcome his disappointment in his favorite person of all time. He, for example, has learned how to negotiate with said person. His life is hell right now but he is handling it with grace. In the past he did everything she asked without question. I only hope he evolves from there. His love for Fi is genuine and for that he gets my vote. Vitto is truly pathetic. He is old enough to know better. Con the girl into marrying you then what? Lock her up forever in a vault? What a guy! Rox sucks the air out of any room she enters. Why rat out Gael when her issues are based on her own behavior? Oh that's right, nobody ever confronts her. They are all enablers. Helloisa is in for a rude awakening. The Riva family have their vacuum cleaner (Itana)ready to suck her dry. Don't leave her a cent is what I say. Can't wait.

Hanna

doris, I LOVED Rocky!! That whole romance was great. And my apologies to Mrs. Gonzalez's class, but you know what? I'm beginning to think they turned this back over to the Rat Brigade. I think eighth graders in this savvy tech world could write a better plot line for some of these people. They certainly would make Fi look so gullible. Girl Power would be much stronger.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay - I have to agree with you ... most likely it is the fourth-grade class. Either that, or TeleRisa's infamous (dun....dun....dunnnnnn!) monkey writers!

Good thing we've all got on our telenovela beanie hats. The cast of MIVAC does, too, except Gael. Poor thing, he does not know he is in a telenovela, bless his heart.

Fidel is the closest thing to a voice of reason in this thing, and more of a father to Petey than Sergio ever was or is capable of being.

doris, I'm lol-ing for realz...those are indeed Pedro and Fi's lines. Or as whatserface on ADCLG would say "Obvio si!"

Gracias, Hanna! I'm totally giving Pedro a break. I have a torch and a pitchfork, but I haven't lit the torch yet :D

I wish we could do a poll..."This show is being written by:
a. Mrs. Gonzalez's 8th grade class
b. Mrs. Gonzalez's 4th grade class
c. the Rat Brigade
d. the monkey writers
e. there are writers on this show?"

Hubby and I were at Newk's last night for a quick light supper. The guy in front of us in the order line had a Pedro hair cut.
I also noticed that Gunter on "Nashville" TV show has that same type haircut.

He does, doesn't he? Trying to look taller...?

Thanks so much for this Diva, I could cite the parts I liked most but then I'd have to copy the whole thing
but especially- "Aitana comes over to the home office, crowing about how her daddy fixed All The Things. Not that she understands the details, so don't ask her."

I'm starting to like team Osvonia too I might even hate Osvaldo a miniscule amount less now that they're working together

____

poll - I vote b - this seems like what would come out of the minds of nine yr olds

Gracias, sneaky! I agree, Os is way easier to handle when he's not saying horrible things to Sonia or being attached to Alina's face. So if he can just stay on this track or we can have someone duct tape his mouth shut, it'll be smooth sailing from here on out!

Sneaky Shoes and Diva I am also Team Osvonia. Maybe now that Os is not with Alina and Sonia is no more trying to seduce Pietro they can relive the passion and love that they maybe had before marrying. The actors have chemisty but the writers wasted it with too much discussion between them.

Oh by the way Diva, I was very harsh with Fiorella in my past comment. Ok no, she is not a gold digger, she is just way too much innocent and a sweet girl. Maybe my comment was just a silly way of dealing with that stupid plot of Fiorella being Vittorio's fiance when he could be his grandpa.

Lol, Marla, I don't think you were being harsh with Fi...giving her too much credit, maybe :D She doesn't have what it takes to be a gold-digger. Oh, was that harsh? Oh well....
