Caray, Caray!

Well, what an episode! So let's get right to it . . .

We pick up with Augusto and Alicia still in each other's face just outside of Icónika on a balcony. Augusto will not be swayed even after hearing Alicia's threat about telling Beatriz about Sandra and the affair.  It is what he expected to hear from a wretch like her. No mediocre "little lady" like Alicia is going to blackmail him. Alicia clarifies that this is not blackmail;  it is rather a negotiation. What does she have to negotiate with?  He has his prestige to back him up. She has nothing. People are just going to think she is a poor bride who got jilted at the altar.

At Icónika, Braulio is chit chatting in the hall with Brisas. It sounds like the same old same old with Braulio talking about his "yolo" (you only live once) and them being roomies. Brisas says she is not too comfortable with the arrangement. Braulio understands: sleeping on a sofa all this time wouldn't be very comfortable. Brisas tells Braulio that that is not what she means. The reason is she is in love with him. Braulio looks very uncomfortable. He says he is late for a meeting. Inspired by a running and cheering shape on the wall, he runs and cheers on to the supposed meeting. Brisas is left confused.

Back on the balcony and still in each other's face, Alicia is telling Augusto how hard she is going to laugh when the API board members hear all she has to say about him. If he wants to shut her up, all he has to do is return her to her position of "General Creative Director."  Augusto cannot stop laughing. She won't even be getting a gum selling stand from him. Does not she realize that nobody in the advertising world is going to hire her? Yes, she does. She tried it already and the Madelén Agency was the only one willing to hire her provided she brought along all of her accounts. Getting right up to her nose, Augusto tells not to even dare try to do that. Alicia tells him that she would never do that because of her sense of ethics. Augusto mocks her "ethics?". What kind of ethics would allow a woman to accept getting married when she was fooling around with somebody else? She insists that she is simply seeking justice after the years of hard work that she put in.

At the orphanage, Roberto and Gumaro having been denied entrance see that Marta and Ángel Vidal are being let in. The long and the short of it is that they have come to the orphanage for another reason and not to visit Mateo. Roberto does not believe them. Marta tells him he must be happy because because of him they have suspended judgement on Mateo's custody indefinitely. Of course Roberto says he didn't do anything. Ángel says they don't know what happened but they will wait until the court has a decision.


In the conference room, Sandra is trying to get everyone off their phones so she can have her meeting. The topic is a new client Grupo Arnotec: a company with a lot of experience in selling pesticides has decided to give selling coffee a go. It is called "Inolvidable" (Unforgettable). They have not had much success so they have come to Icónika. Luciana is so disappointed to have to be involved in such a boring product. Sandra reminds them all they are paid to SELL products whether they like them or not.

The Vidal's, Roberto and Gumaro are still arguing outside the orphanage. Ángel says they do not want to argue but refuses to tell them why they are there either. Marta even apologizes to Roberto for her behavior with him. They all decide to deal with each other peacefully. Ángel asks Roberto if he knows anything about the change in staff at the orphanage. Do they change staff often or is this something new? Venus is not there. Roberto and Gumaro are surprised by the change, too. The staff is all new faces.

Back on the balcony, Augusto is still belittling Alicia and is back in her face.  He is going to miss the expression of terror on her face anytime she would see him at work. He so liked that! She responds that she has had it with people stepping on her and not to see her offer as her begging for her job: take it for what it is: an opportunity for him. He cannot believe she is such a fool or so proud. She is not open to starting from zero one more time and he was the inventor of her romance and her marriage with Alex anyway. Augusto cannot believe she is going to play the innocent victim. No way; she is nobody's victim. Augusto is bored by it all and tells her to leave. Nobody will listen to her. She tells him not to underestimate the social press/media. Augusto turns and walks away from her. She tells him one last time her declaration will be on tv tomorrow night. She will tell all she knows about him live on a national network. She wants to know if they have an agreement or not. Augusto calls for Draco, his henchman, who has been waiting patiently a several feet away. The next thing, Draco is physically removing Alicia as the reception girls and Fátima (among others)look on. Augusto looks down on it all from the balcony.

In the conference room, the representative from Inolvidable coffee  seated at the conference table is talking about how the roll out of the brand was not what they were expecting but that the coffee is excellent. It is unique with its own mixture of arabica beans from Sumatra, slime from Teope and coffee from Coatepec. The best Elías can say it is bizarre, international.They all try some of the coffee and have to spit it out it is so bad.  None of them can really come up with anything positive to say about it. They all end up with one liners and laughing at the product. Sandra ends the meeting saying it was just the first brainstorming session and they will come up with something.

Outside of Icónika, Alicia is talking to the "Color de Hormiga" ("Ant Color": an adjective phrase used in Mexico when things get bad, ugly, nasty: what a perfect name for a gossip show!) show people affirming she will be there tomorrow night to tell all about her experience with Don Augusto de Toledo y Mondragón.

Rafael is paying a visit to Icónika and Chuchette is hanging all over him. He finally reminds her that he is a married man after she wonders if he wants to keep walking around the company or go out to get something. He would not want anyone to get the wrong impression. He does have many nice things to say about her. The compliment that really sticks with her is that he tells her what a good sense of humor she has which indicates just how intelligent she is. Chuchette likes that a lot. He kisses her hand and goes to find Luciana.

Roberto is talking with Gumaro out in a park. He is feeling guilty that maybe the staff was removed because of him. Gumaro said it was not a good idea what he did but he did it for his son. Roberto agrees he does everything for Mateo but what good is it if it ends up hurting other people like those who work at the orphanage? Gumaro tries to lift his spirits by telling him he is changing his ways: soon he will tell the whole truth to his wife and Mateo will be with him. Roberto wonders if Mateo might be better off without such a stubborn and foolish father like him. He does not know what to do and feels like he is dying.

Rafael is talking to Luciana saying that it is not that he does not believe in her.  It  is just that her promotion happened so quickly. He is really pleased she wants to develop herself. She says that before she was in her "crazy life sha la la sha la la" phase but now she wants to be an executive and a married woman and be proud of herself. Rafael gives her a hug when Augusto arrives to make fun of Rafael. Not being one who is satisfied with crumbs, Luciana decides she is more like her uncle Augusto than her own father. Augusto just laughs and arranges Rafael's scarf.

At the mansion, Valeria wants to talk to Beatriz that maybe she needs a therapist rather than going to see a priest and going to mass. Beatriz disagrees. God and a priest are all she needs to comfort her. She is not interested in talking about Alex. It turns out that Valeria is thinking of seeing a therapist because she is very nervous: her husband Rafael has told her that they still have not sent the money for the sale of their house from Buenos Aires. That has made all of the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. She is having a bad time of it. Beatriz wants to take her to mass. Valeria is not going believing more in science than religion. Beatriz then  thanks her for her support during this terrible time. She misses her son Alex so much. Valeria says she can always cry on her shoulder.
They are friends. That makes her happy just like how Augusto who is so hard and sever has come to look at Luciana as his own daughter. Valeria really has nothing to say as Beatriz hugs her.

The API board of directors are having a conversation about the appropriateness of Roberto Duarte being the candidate for the presidency. They wonder how much he knew about the Alex situation. Was he the creator of that fiasco? API prides itself for its enduring VALUES and honesty is among the most important. Alicia arrives to clarify several things with the board. The API board members like her a lot and do not want to believe that she was involved in such an indecent incident involving Alex and the sacrament of marriage. She respects all of them so much that is why she came to be up front with them. Alicia tells them that her version of what happened is very different from what they know. She is saying nothing now but tells them about the interview on tv so they can watch it. They will watch and even forgo their poker game. They choose  to give Alicia the benefit of the doubt at this time.

Roberto and Gumaro are at home with Roberto telling Gumaro that if he gets the API appointment it will help convince the court that he is a changed man so then he could publicly tell his truth. Roberto is now worried about any support from Venus. She had given him 6 months to put his life in order and tell everyone the truth. Now with her gone, he is afraid he has lost her valuable testimony as to his suitability as a father. Gumaro just wants him to calm down. Roberto is still wanting to take Mateo away to the beach but now since he is married to Luciana it won't be so easy. Gumar.in his most colorful language, can't see Luciana with sand in her underwear everyday but he can see Alicia with sand in her underwear everyday. Roberto is angry because he has asked Gumaro not to mention Alicia: he is trying to forget her.

Rafael, Augusto and Luciana are still discussing. Rafael realizes that Augusto and Luciana have many more things in common. Augusto prides himself on being able to solve difficult problems. He is bringing it up because of problems in Buenos Aires like with the Duque of Solferino. Of course, he tells Luciana, he made sure her engagement ring was returned to its rightful owner. You can tell Luciana is not happy with that news.

In the next scene we find out the truth: the truth is that Augusto still has the ring and is planning on using it to wheel and deal with the Duque. Sandra enters to talk with Augusto. She is tired of all the work it is taking/is going to take to prop up Luciana in her new position. Sandra is suffering another hot flash. She wants Roberto back. Not happening.  She says his family looks like it is "in full bloom".  A defiant Augusto says yes it is and so what? (Sandra was just reminded she is an outsider again)

At the Café, Magos is complaining as usual. Elsa tells her to at least smile so they do not lose all of their customers. Elsa complains to Nacho that she thought Magos working with people might have been the right job for her, but it clearly isn't. Nacho is disgusted with Magos and he also wants to know what is up with Alicia who is just sitting there at a table rather than looking for another job. Under her breath, Alicia tells us she first has to publicly clarify things before she does anything else. Tomorrow night is her tv interview.

At Icónika, Chuchette is telling Néstor all about Alicia's interview on "Color de Hormiga". Luciana and the receptionists join the group in the hall. It does not take long for Auguato to arrive and ask Luciana what interview they are talking about.

Down another hall at Icónika, it looks like Braulio is trying to avoid Brisas. He says no he isn't. He just does not know what to do in these situations. Brisas says she was direct in telling him how she felt about him and it is also clear that he does not feel the same way about her. With his silence it is evident he didn't give her a "like".

In the other hallway, Chuchette said she tried to stop the interview but she had no luck or influence at the tv station. Luciana wonders what she could say anyway with her in the middle of such a mess marrying a gay guy. Augusto is not pleased with that comment and Luciana tries to back pedal the best she can. Augusto tells them all he is not worried and none of them should be. His instructions for Chuchette: talk to the interviewer and find out what they are going to talk about. What  bothers him is that took Alicia into his confidence and that she betrayed him. That is how she paid him back. They all pledge their never ending loyalty to Augusto.

Later that night at the mansion, Luciana is trying to get frisky with Roberto who wants to avoid getting frisky with her. He tells her he is still weak. He promises her if they can just sleep he will give her a "roaring" honeymoon. He swears to it.

At the Gutiérrez household the next morning. Magos is giving Ximena a hard time about taking her cane to school. Nacho tells Ximena as long as the physical therapists have not told her to give up her cane yet, just to take it with her. At the kitchen sink, Elsa asks Alicia what's wrong. Turns out Alicia is a little scared about repercussions from the interview but she is going to do it. Her mother tells her she knows she is not going to lie or talk badly about anyone but she needs to be careful with the delicate aspects of it all because you never know how Augusto or his relatives are going to take it. Alicia says she already told Augusto how she is going to talk about everything that happened so he could not say he wasn't warned. Her mother says that that sounds like blackmail with her threatening him.

Braulio and Brisas are at the swings at Icónika when he says he fell asleep late and she still had not come home the night before. She says she had things to attend to. She asks if he was worried about her. No, it is normal because they share a home so he worries about her not arriving, like he "worries" about the expenses. Since she is okay it is "YOLO" if she found her own place to relax last night that is a double "like". He leaves. Brisas is exasperated with him at this point. Why didn't he just ask where she went? She hopes a UFO comes to take her away. The lights suddenly flicker so she takes that wish back..

In the API office, Augusto is telling Roberto that they are going to respect the API process just as they did before but this time with him. Roberto wonders why he chose him to replace his son. . He believes it is an honor. Augusto says it is a matter of confidence and now since he is a member of the family he knows he can confide in him. August gives him a pep talk: he is fully capable of winning that position. The API board of directors come in and greet Augusto and Roberto. The board members inform Augusto that Alicia was there to talk to them.Augusto is angry she would go to see them. Why? They tell him about her national tv interview and how she threatened to tell all about her truth. Roberto's eyes get real big.

At the mansion. Dafne is telling Rafael about the results of her apology: she hasn't been bullied but she hasn't made any friends either. Rafael tries to stress the importance of having flesh and blood friends and not just "virtual" friends. He asks her if she has just one friend. Yes, Alicia was her friend but she just ended up stinking up the place like Alex. She tells him about the email that Alex never bothered to answer. He tells her about the importance of forgiveness so rancor and resentment do not begin to wither her heart.

Roberto has to leave the API meeting. Augusto tells the API board not to waste their time on an interview which is just going to be lies. One of the board members tells him that Alicia has not given them a preview of  what she is going to say only that it is going to be a very personal version. She deserves the benefit of the doubt. Augusto thinks she has snookered them all in being the social climber that she is. Another API board member is concerned that what she has to say would place Augusto in such a position where it would prove that he had known about the whole Alex wedding fiasco from the beginning. That would put him at great risk.

Alicia tells us it was now or never: everything to gain nothing to lose.

At the television studio, the interviewer is going over the the ratings system and internet interest in Alicia. This continues for a couple of scenes.

Back at Icónika, Elías and Sandra are the first arrive in the conference room viewing of the interview..

At the Gutiérrez house, they are all ready to watch.

Alicia tells the interviewer that she will not accept one  cent from the television company. It is a matter of justice for her. She puts her cell phone on vibrate

Augusto is sitting all alone. Nothing is more exciting for him than a woman who disrespects him with anger, intelligence . . . Draco asks his boss what he is going to do NOW. There is no response. Augusto is thinking.

The interview is about to start. The interviewer introduces Alicia and references the topic for the interview.

She starts out by asking Alicia if she was the only person who knew that Alex was gay. Alicia does not answer. Alicia's phone is ringing. It is Augusto.
