Antes Muerta Que Lichita #50 Tuesday 12/1/15: Enter the Armpit

Luci and her mom arrive at the Santa Clara orphanage (where Alex' announcement will take place, after Alicia's quick switcheroo). They think Alicia is trying to be some sort of  stuck-up Evita of the shirtless masses by having the thing there. Luci: "hmm, maybe i should get me one of those miserable orphans so I could become Saint Luciana!"

But before Luci can make her big entrance, Alicia trips on Mateo and they have a face-to-face. She explains the purpose of the rich people visiting (to get money out of them), he says all the orphans had been told to stay out of sight for the duration of the event, and she proposes that they both hide.

Whoah! Luciana is trying to wrangle the press, preening and suggesting they ask her about the wedding, but one reporter says there's a rumor that she's pregnant! Everyone gasps!

Alex, mid-announcement, calls Alicia up to the podium. She gets mobbed by the press asking about her wedding and honeymoon, but she and Alex deflect, saying everyone should pay more attention to the orphanage. The reporters press in, and they reluctantly force a kiss.

Augusto is furious at Chuchette because of the venue switcheroo Alicia pulled. He calls up Alex and demands that they come see him. He's pissed. Alex takes responsibility, but says he doesn't regret it... he can't live his life attached to his dad's will. Augusto (referring to the impending wedding): "It won't be the last time you're attached to something against your will."

Later, Luciana overhears Alicia and Beto telling each other how much they cherished their time together, etc. (and she hears Alicia admitting that the venue change was her idea). Dun dun DUN!

Luciana fumes about Alicia getting all the press attention and the rumored pregnancy, but Sandra counsels patience. She has a new plan: get Alicia to lose a major client, which will be grounds for dismissal! Luciana agrees that that's a good idea and claims she thought of it already. Sandra initiates a grand eye-roll but proceeds.
Struggling to put up with Luciana's shit...

Chancla has bought Ximena a drone as a present, but she doesn't like it - it's for older kids, and she doesn't like boys' stuff!

Over breakfast, Luciana sees the news article about her "pregnancy" and flips out. "How could this happen? I only want to live without hurting anyone, I'm an angel!" Snort.

Alex scores a billion points with the moral values-obsessed guys at API for his support of the orphanage.

It seems that Luciana may have struck sooner than I expected: at the shoot for the shampoo commercial, it looks like the hair-wraps accidentally dyed the model Marlene's hair green! Marlene threatens to sue and kill them! Her hair is worth thousands of dollars! Not pesos, dollars!!! They try to fix it, but only turn it orange! It turns out that someone has replaced the product that was in each bottle! "Alicia Gutierrez, I'll get you fired as sure as my name's Marlene Garbo and as sure as I'm a Diva!!"
Oops.
Not it.
Sandra yells at Alicia and tells her the whole mess is her fault. Then Marlene shows up and demands a word with Alicia in private. When the others leave, Marlene reveals she actually loves the change! She's sorry for making such a scene, but, well, she had to! She's a diva, it's what people expect! But she's actually extremely happy because she was looking for an excuse to leave the campaign, and the accidental hair dye gives her a perfect out! And as explanation for the departure, she whistles for the dweeby accountant guy who came with her to the shoot (or is he the guy in charge of the shampoo company?)! They're getting married and they want to go to China. The guy assures Alicia that her job is safe.
How thrilled does this man look?
In the aftermath (Luciana and Sandra finding out their plan didn't work and Alicia still has a job), Luciana hilariously accuses Alicia of egocentrism! Thanks for outing the kettle, pot!

Holy crap - I thought Chancla was just a loser and a jackass, but he's actually planning (with his buddy "armpit") to kidnap Alicia to ransom her back to her rich fiancee! Beto overhears them plotting (or maybe just seems them) and takes some photos. He sends the photo of armpit to Gumaro, who cautions patience. Gumaro researches the guy and finds out Armpit was in the same prison as Beto and would recognize him!

Chancla gives Alicia some coffee and asks her, just to be sure, if there's anyone else in the office that evening. He keeps hovering and asking her questions about her plans that evening and how she'll get home. She frowns and asks him about his true intentions. He thinks she's onto his kidnapping plot and gets really nervous. He steals her phone and brings it to Armpit, telling him the kidnapping has to go perfectly!

At the orphanage, the boss lady reveals that Mateo met Alicia and seemed to like her! Beto looks wistful. Later, he finally realizes Chancla and Armpit's plan must be to ransom Alicia to Alex's family and calls her house to warn her. Nacho picks up and reveals that Alicia is working late!

Armpit shows up at Iconika in his taxi and runs off the taxi driver who'd been waiting for Alicia. She gets into his car! Cliffhangerized!!!

Excellent and thank you so much Ezra!

"Struggling to put up with Luciana's shit..."

What a punk, Chancla, to kidnap anyone much less Alicia.

Ezra, love the title "Enter the armpit".

When El Axilas menaced and ran off the contracted cab driver, the story suddenly took a creepy turn.. With Alicia in the cab now this could get nasty.

At least Roberto does realize that Alicia could be in danger.

Loved Marlén and the hair and marrying her assistant. A lot of good laughs. Best of all: Alicia did not suffer any fallout from the hair debacle.

Also, thanks, Ezra. I really enjoyed the recap!

Thanks Ezra!

I still can't believe Sandra hates Alicia so much that she would rather lose an account than work with her! So frustrating. She keeps losing points with me.

Glad Luci got out of the orphanage without running into Mateo. But Rob has to tell her at some point, which will be awful. I think Rob still unconsciously believes he can get out of the wedding.

I can't believe Chanclas is having Alicia kidnapped. The previews show Alicia though so it must go awry, but she looks sick. I wonder if Chanclas starts drugging her coffee.

The whole diva thing was crazy. I did love that she is marrying the bald, short guy!

Ezra- Loved this recap and the great screen shots. :)

Chanclas just gets worse each episode, just like Sandra (so disappointed in her). I hope Rob stops the kidnapping before it even starts. I think he will make himself the target of Armpits and Flip-Flops if Armpits recognizes him from prison. One more person blackmailing him.

Thanks Ezra! Love your screenshots which capture the moments so perfectly. Favorite line "Alex scores a billion points with the moral values-obsessed guys at API for his support of the orphanage."

I loved how Luciana plan to rudely steal attention from her cousin to herself backfired. Lol!

Rob has been using is brain for good (instead of inventing lies) these past two episodes. He managed to zone in on Chanclas and Armpit's no good ways quick! Now if only he can make it to Alicia in time to thwart this kidnapping.

Mateo and Alicia interaction was so adorable.

Ha ha, Ezra, "Enter the Armpit." I enjoyed your other zingers, too, as well as the screenshots. I've been lurking as my life has been too complicated to comment for awhile. But, I have been following this little gem of a novela and truly enjoy it. Thanks to all the talented and dedicated recappers and commenters, too. Will comment when I can. Did Alicia faint in the previews? Oh ,oh.

hahaha good one Ez!

@Jarifa yeah, I was certainly expecting the whole "Alicia screwed up" plot to last a lot longer. I'm so glad that it cleared up so conveniently!

and yes, Beto really thinks he can get out of marrying Luciana
