Vino el Amor, Lunes 3/13/17 Chapter 92: Extreme Distress

Some scenes combined for clarity:

David got on Tano's case for getting involved with Fernanda. He started blaming him for Fernanda's depression. Tano tried explaining why it wasn't like that. Their relationship started on her birthday and he was trying to balance it so that he could return to college and so she could pick up her grades. She came to him all upset because of her differences with him (David) and wanting them to run away together. He had refused and she became angry with him. He would not comply with her request that they run away together out of respect for him and for his own father. David asked whether he knew why Fernanda was in the hospital and he said “Yes, because she took some pills.”
Yes. Because she wanted to take her own life.”
Tano looked shocked. Both should have been.

Miguel and Erika got it on on the couch in her father's office. It looked like things were proceeding on schedule.

Sonia told León she was nervous because Señor David had found the cell phone. Part of her job was to take care of the children and she was afraid of being dismissed. León told her he would go with her if it came to that. She loved this but had no opportunity to show it; Luciana arrived. León started updating her on what was happening with Tano. She started for the door to talk to David, but Sonia and León held her back.

Tano told David he wanted to help. David told him she needed Professional Help and Tano said he realized that. “But she smiles when she is with me,” he added. He wanted to do anything and everything to help. David told him that what he needed to do was to stay away from her until she got better. “But what do I do if she comes to me?” asked Tano. “I'm sorry, Sir, but I will be at her side until you fire me.”

Luciana was also defending her feelings for and relationship with David. Marta was still opposed to it and implied that if she hadn't chosen Marcos her life would have been something else. Luciana was surprised. Carito was at the top of the stairs listening to them.

Lillian was out having drinks with Adolfo, who asked about Fernanda. She told him Fernanda was better, and she still couldn't believe that this happened. She was glad to be able to talk to him. She started blaming this on Fernanda being involved with the wrong boy and Adolfo told her she shouldn't be too strict; Fernanda needs to learn to make her own decisions. Lillian was not convinced, referring to Tano as “un patán.” Adolfo started talking about how Fernanda will find someone worthy and how happy he was for Erika because she was in love. Lillian asked if the lucky young man was the son of the Marshes. She almost went into shock when he told her it was Miguel Diaz, who used to work for David. She implied that he was unworthy because he was uneducated and without ambition. Adolfo disagreed, saying that Miguel was honorable and smart. The wheels in her brain began turning.

Luciana accused Marta of being cruel.
It's the truth,” Marta said. At that moment she noticed Carito. “Can I offer you anything, Carito?” she asked. Her tone told her that she knew Carito had been deliberately eavesdropping.
Ah, no thank you,” Carito said before turning tail for the exit. Marta called her a gossip-monger behind her back.
Mother, I love David. You're trying to make me leave him, but you can't. That would take out a large piece of my heart.”
Daughter, love involves sacrifice and if you love him as much as you say leave him to his children, please!”
What I think is that Fernanda very much needs a psychiatrist. We're going to talk to her and David will make a decision.”
How stubborn you are, daughter, please – ”
Mother! I know that what's going on with Fernanda is very serious but I know there is a solution.”
Luciana, she almost died and I'm telling you that this relationship is not doing anything good for her. You are young, daughter, why don't you share your life with --”
Mother! Please, aren't you listening?” Luciana was almost shouting. “Do you think I can so easily renounce the love of my life? You know what? If Fernanda is that important to you, teach her. To be a strong woman. To not spend her life blackmailing people. You know what else? It's become very clear that I'm only a hindrance in your life.”
Marta tried to step closer to Luciana, but said, “No, Mother” as she left the room.

Lillian tried to convince Adolfo not to trust Miguel. She tried painting him as someone who would take advantage of Erika for his own gain. When Adolfo refused to believe this Lillian pulled out the “I've known him since he was a child” card and said that he left David's vineyard because he had problems with him. When Adolfo mentioned that he had talked with them and all was well, she said that Miguel and Luciana were troublemakers since childhood and she didn't want to see Erika get hurt.
The flies on the wall saw that Adolfo was probably weakening.

Erika and Miguel dressed and she told him that her father was out on a date. She hadn't yet met the woman but expected to soon. She was hoping her father would be happy because when her mother left him to live in Europe again he was much affected. She said that she hoped that the two of them would always be happy. They kissed.

Juan told Mark that he had to move the immigrants because their current business would be at stake if they were caught. They argued about the next part of the plan. Juan expected to ruin David and then buy his vineyard at a very low price, but Mark objected because “It is not easy money.” [Juan, he's a brute but this time he's right.] Juan said he knew, then blamed Miguel for their problems. “We have to silence him.” Mark had intended to do this the next day. They were going to lie in wait for him. Juan told him to find a place to send the wetbacks and to leave because Perla was coming. Mark laughed at him, saying that Perla would be the end of him. He then left Juan's apartment.

David arrived home and Luciana was waiting for him in the parlor. When they embraced he said that when he was with her he felt peace. They talked about Fernanda and Tano's relationship, which David just found out about. He wasn't happy about the situation in view of that it had been hidden from him since Fernanda's birthday. He also thought that Fernanda shouldn't be in a relationship now. Luciana stood up for Tano, saying he was a good lad and that David should probably be more flexible with Fernanda. He asked whether she knew that there was a relationship. She told him that she knew they went out and spent a lot of time together but swore she didn't know there was a relationship. [What do you call that, then?]
David told her that while she was worried about their relationship affecting his children, the most important thing was for them to have good communication, especially about something this important. She agreed and he said he was going to talk to Sonia. She persuaded him to wait until morning because it had been such a hard day. He mentioned the psychiatrist just as Bobby came down to ask whether Fernanda came back with them. David said not yet, but she loved the stuff he sent her. Bobby declined Luciana's offer to make him something to eat because he wasn't hungry, but kissed her goodnight as well as his father before going back up to his room. Gracie returned just as he went up the stairs going on about what a hard day it was at the hospital. Luciana asked if she would like something to eat as she was about to prepare something for David. Gracie declined, saying the only good thing was that she and Fernanda were closer than ever and she could prevent “more pain coming to the family.” She went upstairs. David and Luciana joined hands.

Marta was in the same mood the following morning when Luciana mentioned that Fernanda would see a shrink that day. Before she and Luciana could start fighting again Tano and León came down the stairs talking about Carito being gone because of things to do, then mentioning Miguel. León caught on to his mother's mood and how it was affecting Luciana.

Erika and Adolfo had breakfast out that morning. She got him to tell her whom he had been dating. She was surprised, saying that she had heard that Lillian was a disaster. He said he found her charming and attractive and that she had told him things that made him worry. He started repeating what Lillian had said about Miguel and Erika resisted exactly the same way as Luciana had with her mother.

Carito was trying to persuade Miguel not to go on the mission to locate the immigrants because it was dangerous. He told her “My boss says the same thing” but he needed to in order to clear his name. Carito wasn't pleased that Erika's name had come into this and was less pleased when Miguel told her that he was in a relationship with Erika. He told her that he was about to bring up the possibility of a job for her. Carito said not to bother. She brought out her inner bitch and told him about Luciana being involved with David.
Miguel was slightly disappointed and Carito was annoyed. She resorted to the ploy of all desperate and pathetic women by asking “Why don't I please you? What have I done wrong?”
You haven't done anything wrong,” he said. “You're pretty, nice, a good person...” [sth re Perla]
This wasn't enough for Carito, who pushed him away.
Perla was right. She said I was a fool. That's how the whole world sees me.”
No, don't say that. You're a very valuable woman. Any man would be happy with you.”
Of course,” she said sarcastically. “Any man but you. I was an idiot worrying about you.” She started walking away.
Perla, please –”
I have nothing else to say to you.” She walked away without looking back.

David was in “Dr” Anderson's office to discuss Fernanda's treatment. He told David he took the case because he was good friends with Lillian. He would need to study the test results, etc., and then Cesar entered the office. He introduced himself as the family doctor and they shook hands. Cesar looked very suspicious, especially when Anderson said that he felt they needed to get Fernanda back home with her family.

Perla was putting away some of Juan's clothes and she found the wooden box he had not allowed her to ask about before. She opened it and found Lisa's cell phone. She asked herself whom it belonged to, then quickly put it back.

Lillian and Gracie visited Anderson and asked how things had gone with David.
Very well. He's willing to be completely cooperative.”
It's very important that he doesn't know you're on our side, Anderson,” Lillian said.
I imagine. But I am going to need more information to more easily do the job.”
Well, as we said we're very annoyed because we can't accept the woman he is with,” said Gracie.
And you will see in my granddaughter is that this bitch and her mother only cause her to suffer and my son-in-law was so destroyed by the death of my daughter he can't think straight.”
I suppose he had therapy when his wife died, didn't he?”
What therapy? He didn't do anything. He locked himself in the house, on the edge, with the drapes closed.”
And I suppose this girl encouraged him to go on?” Lillian nodded. “It's typical. In patients like this it's often something that won't last.”
Yes,” said Gracie. “What David does affects his children.”
Well, don't worry. I know very well how to manage this type of situation. But as I said to Grace this kind of therapy is very long and I will have to dedicate a lot of time to it.”
Yes, of course,” said Lillian. “Don't worry about the money. Right, Grace?”
She looked at Gracie, who was a little less than pleased.
Well, if you succeed with David and get this woman out of our lives everything is fine,” she said.
Their faces wore pure hypocrisy.

Carito walked away from Miguel crying pathetically. She was not careful. A young thug grabbed her from behind and warned her not to scream as he led her off.

Fernanda sat up in her hospital bed and realized she didn't have her cell phone. She called her friends from the hospital phone on the bed. Cathy answered her phone, saying she was with Caroline. Fernanda explained about the pills. They said they knew, they had come to the hospital and David had sent them packing. They said he was very angry, had talked to their parents, and they're taking consequences. Fernanda heard David approaching so she quickly hung up the phone. David entered the room with Anderson close behind him.
Fernanda had another tantrum, demanding to know why David sent her friends away. She denied they had any responsibility for her being there. She realized he had taken her cell phone away. She accused him of cutting her off from her friends. He told her he wanted her to get well and come home. Anderson asked David's permission to talk to Fernanda alone and he said it was alright. He said he would wait outside, then left the room.

Carito was in a basement, her hands tied behind her back and around a square support beam. She heard someone come down the stairs and begged to be let go. The someone was Mark. He told her to shut up. He hated traitors. He let her know that what he will do to her will be so bad she will beg him to kill her. He touched her face in a creepy way and she passed out.

Tell me, why did you take those pills?”
Well, truthfully I only did it because I thought they would make me feel better,” Fernanda said. “It's what my friend Cathy said. I didn't intend to kill myself.”
That's what you want to believe,” Anderson said. “But that's just a defense mechanism in your mind.”
What?”
When you're feeling something this strong, you tend to forget reality. But you know that to run away from something this bad you took these things to relax because you know you wanted to destroy yourself.”
Fernanda was totally taken in.
Well, yes. That's true.”
You just wanted peace in your heart, didn't you?”
Yes, Doctor. I just wanted to take the pain out of my heart.”
Now you understand.”
What?”
When you feel this kind of pain in your heart you had to take pills.”
Yes, of course. I wanted to die.”
Within less than half an hour she had gone from almost normal to screaming to depression.

Luciana was working in the cava when Migel came in unexpectedly. He prevented her embracing him hello, saying they had to talk. He asked whether she was involved with David. This quickly became an argument when he accused her of having been involved with David from the beginning and putting him in the Friend Zone because she didn't feel for him what she felt for David. He didn't give her a chance to get a word in edgewise. He demanded to know how long this had been going on and went on like a jealous husband. She didn't want to talk about this with him. She told him they had ended their relationship and both of them had to move on. He finally left.

Doctor, help me talk about this because I feel very bad about everything that's happened.”
Many times our subconscious does what we really feel.”
No, no, doctor. Truly, I didn't talk to my friends or my boyfriend and that would make me feel much better.”
But that is only temporary.”
No, I don't think it's like that. My nana told me that life is the greatest gift and I think this is true.”
All adolescents always demand attention. Right now everyone is worried about you. At the root, I am sure you're feeling bad.”
No, doctor, I'm telling the truth. I swear.”
Let me tell you something, Fernanda. Therapy is an act of honesty. I know you want to leave with your boyfriend but that can't help you with anything. Let's begin with what happened in your house.”
Not good. Everyone lies.”
Therefore, we will begin with that. Accept that you are deceiving yourself.” She looked up with a questioning expression. “Well, I'll leave you to think about it. This session is over.”
And that's the reality?” [not sure of this or his next line]
There was a knock. David came in.
Is everything alright?”
The most important is that you talk to each other honestly after these sessions, Señor Robles.”
Very well, Doctor, thanks.” Anderson left the room as David approached Fernanda's bed. “Daughter, we need to talk.”
Now? What about?”
That you had a relationship with Tano and didn't tell me anything.”
And why should I when you were still lying to me?” she said. “You deceived all of us by hiding your relationship with that slut.”
Fernanda, we're talking about you. Now is not the time for you to question me. The person who has to explain is you.”
That doesn't sound fair to me, Papa. Tano loves me and Luciana got out the news and I will also tell you that he is very good with me.”
Luciana didn't tell me anything.” He showed her the letter. “I think this is more than clear, isn't it? Fernanda, I can't believe you can keep going on like this or keep causing problems.”
She took the letter from his hand.
And I don't want you searching my things!”
I'm your father and you can't hide anything from me! Don't you realize how bad this is? You're in the hospital because you took pills!”
This has nothing to do with that!”
Of course it does. It says right here in the letter that you had an argument and he felt guilty about it.”
But it wasn't his fault, Papa. He felt guilty because he wouldn't run away with me and I was angry with him.”
Good. At least this young man was being prudent. Fernanda, it's bad that you're hiding these things. More, because we've talked about this many times. Daughter, you are forbidden to see Tano.”
You can't forbid me.”
Of course I can. And if you don't comply I will have to dismiss him.”

Mark screamed at Carito to wake up or he would leave her there to be eaten by rats. He went on to say that she had been ratted out as the person encouraging the immigrants to escape. He told her that in prison rats are scarred so they can be identified. He emphasized this by gesturing with his switchblade against her cheek. He enjoyed watching her squirm.

Miguel went to the meeting place to see Gutierrez. He took a call from Susan to let her know he was there. He then lost his signal. And did not see the two thugs lurking around the corner.

I can't believe you're doing this to me, Papa.” She started her tantrum cry again.
This is not a game, Fernanda.”
You're only destroying everything we built as a family. You are the worst father in the world. You are selfish. You just think of yourself and nobody else.”
You are being very cruel and without understanding, Fernanda.”
And you don't understand me with what you're doing to me!”
You don't leave me with any other choice, daughter.”
Really, Papa, I hope that I can see Dr Anderson because this is bad. Very bad.”
We're going to stop now because this conversation is going nowhere.”
And what did you want to do, chasing away my friends, getting them in trouble with their parents, keeping Tano away – ”
This is for your good, Fernanda.”
I hate you, Papa! I hate you! Get out! I don't want to see you! I don't want to talk to you. Give me my cell phone back.”
I will not leave your cell phone so you can do stupid things.”
Get out. Get out!”
David left without saying more. As soon as the door closed Fernanda picked up her room phone to call Tano. She was near hysteria, begging him to come to see her. He told her he could not because he promised her father he wouldn't. She continued to beg him to come to see her.

Luciana and Susan talked about the argument with Miguel. She didn't want to break his heart. Susan told her that this would take time. Luciana felt she had lost him forever.

Gracie visited Fernanda after hearing that she and David had fought again. Of course she added more fuel to the fire by saying “He's another person when he's with Luciana.” Fernanda told her that she was forbidden to see Tano, which Gracie tried blaming on Luciana. Fernanda told her that her father had found the letter and the cell phone and had read all her messages. Gracie continued trying to blame Luciana, but then asked what the doctor said. No diagnosis, but Fernanda said she felt worse. She felt like everything was getting worse all around her.

Juan had the nerve to visit Adolfo to make him an offer he couldn't refuse if he wanted to win the wine competition. He told him to think about it.

Miguel and Susan talked briefly. She suggested he wait elsewhere. The two thugs appeared an beat him. One stood over him saying “So you can never open your mouth” while aiming a pistol at his head.

Golly UA. I didn't realize so much happened in an hour. Thank you

"If Fernanda is that important to you, teach her. To be a strong woman. To not spend her life blackmailing people"

The first person Luciana should fire when she becomes Mrs Robles is that damn nanny.

Well, well, Miguel knew the way to San Jose, yet saved his heart for San Francisco.

Adolfo knows how to pick um don't he?

When Luciana becomes Sra Robles Marta will get Lillian's room (after the exorcism) and not have to work. She then can be the abuela she wants to be, baking cookies and playing games with the kids.

In all fairness to Lillian, though, I think if she had witnessed that "session" she would not have approved and would have told Anderson to take a long walk off a short pier. It's obvious he is going to try to milk the succibi for all the money he can and Fernanda will be a bigger mess than she is now. DisGracie is now doing her best to cause maximum damage. No conscience at all. With fifty episodes left we're going to see Ferbratzilla on the warpath against David and Luciana.

I hope I wasn't mistaken about Cesar's facial expressions in the hospital room.

Me too UA. Looked like Cesar smelled a rat. Problem is convincing David, he wasn't very successful convincing him of Juan's treachery.

Marta belongs in the same chamber pot with Lilian and Graciela.

I hope Luciana realizes soon that Miguel is not her best friend but a possessive creep. So wanted her to pull the rug from under him and declare her love for David but accept her excuse. However, I wish it had been because it's none of his business.

If Cesar plays this correctly David should listen to him. He was right about Juan. Also, Fernanda should not be like this after seeing a shrink.

I hope everyone in the blizzard's path is doing OK. The snow is coming down in clumps here and I think I'm hearing ice particles hitting my windows. At least I have enough food for at least the rest of the week. At least half the subway system is shut down today and all the schools are closed.

Thank you, Urban! I haven't even finished the episode but I have to say two things:

Miguel is an ASS!!!

I'm TIRED OF FERNANDA!!!! What an insufferable, spoiled, narrow-minded, IDIOTA!!!

I feel better. Back later!

Thank you UA. Snow/ice here, not blizzard level though.

Poor Tano!

Luciana is right about everything she says in an episode for once, lol.

I usually take up for Miguel but he had nerve yelling at Luciana. I don't think she should feel badly about how she handled it at all. Time for both to move on. That said, I hope Miguel and Carito get rescued.

Tano needs to stay away from women for a while. He attracts broken ones. Poor guy is young and ill equipped to be a crutch for both Susan and Fernanda.

UA, your conversation translations added so much dimension to the story and to last night's events. Stellar all the way around. Your screen shot was perfect.

"The flies on the wall saw that Adolfo was probably weakening" made me laugh in spite of last night's grim plot lines.

With Carito and Juan at their bratty best, their jealousy and carrying on had them pay a very high price. I suspected Mark was never going to leave Carito alone and sadly, I was right (a rare occurrence).

"He demanded to know how long this had been going on and went on like a jealous husband". This was so utterly disrespectful, not only to Luci but Erica as well. How crushed she would be if she knew he ran back to Luci awash in the green eyed monster. I hope he comes to his senses before he loses her.

Very impressed with the way Tano stood up to David, being calm and respectful in his responses. I hope David realizes Tano is a help, not a hindrance.

It was hard to watch the "doctor" play his mind games with Fernanda. UA, I agree with you and tofie in that the doctor is definitely on Cesar's radar. He gave him a sharp, appraising look. Cesar does not miss much.

I love that both Luci and Erica are spitfires, speaking up to their mother and father respectively, telling them they will not forego the love of their lives simply because their parent tells them to.

I agree with Mark in one thing. Perla will be his undoing. Her finding that phone was another step toward that goal.

Susan is expecting Miguel. How fast will she realize something is radically wrong? I am fervently hoping there will be no shooting or maiming.

It just started snowing heavily here in MA. We are expecting 12 to 18 inches. Stay warm and safe all.

Diana

I meant Miguel (not Juan) at his bratty best.

Sigh.

Diana

Thanks, Urban! I wonder if "the flies on the wall" are as frustrated as we are. I agree, Cesar seemed hesitant when he met Dr Anderson. Don't know if that will go anywhere, though.

Marta: "if she hadn't chosen Marcos her life would have been something else" what a disturbingly vague statement.

Luciana: "You know what? If Fernanda is that important to you, teach her. To be a strong woman." Ha! Marta wouldn't know how to teach her that. Marta settled and she wants everyone else to settle, too.

Erika's mother is living in Europe. I wonder if she'll come back to see Erika.

Miguel. Sigh. He just had to give Luciana his two cents in person.

My snow forecast has been decreased to 3 to 7 inches, then rain. I hope it doesn't change again for the worse.

Like in AQNMD this story has a problem with a romance that shouldn't be. Miguel and Luciana know each other since childhood and thus should feel more like siblings, especially since he is one of Leon's best friends. This is not really fertile ground for romance despite that they don't share DNA. This is nothing new in novelas, but it's still a head-scratcher to me.

Having said that, I also think that Miguel had no business coming after Luciana about her relationship with David. It is none of his business, especially in view of his just having boinked Erika. He should concentrate on her.

He will survive this latest situation, although I'm now not sure that he will survive the rest of this story.

I'm concerned that Adolfo will fall into Lillian's trap... or Juan's.

OT: A new pun for everyone's amusement. There is a cute little Mexican bistro in my neighborhood whose sandwich blackboard sign on the sidewalk reads TACO EMERGENCY, call 9-Juan-Juan

Urban, I think if Luci and Mig actually had grown up together, side-by-side on the vineyard, gone through puberty together and so forth, that they wouldn't have attempted to be a couple. But because they were separated before puberty, it was easy for Miguel to maintain Luci in his memory as the ideal girl for him, without any interference from reality (her interest in other boys, for example).

But then we might end up with a story where Luci has a crush on David from age 13. Ugh. Next!

TACO EMERGENCY! I wish there were a local Mexican place that delivered. Not that I would expect them to deliver today, but in general I think it would be heavenly to have enchiladas delivered to my door.

UA, thanks for sharing the pun.

Like you Julie, something hot and delicious delivered to my door today would hit the spot. An enchilada or taco would be perfect. But in reality, I will have my usual salad (lite on the lettuce)...

Diana

Thank you, UA. CC3 was acting a little weird last night, so I definitely missed some things in context...and that Ferzilla-just-can't-even screencap just adds a big ol' exclamation point.

If nothing else, Show is definitely widening the rift between Marta and Luciana. The gag is that it's still indirectly highlighting Marta's "I'm trying to save mija some grief, honest, but it's still looking like raging preferential bitchiness" hypocrisy (not nearly on the level of Team Succubus, but still), but that inevitably goes back to Schroedinger's Affair: if you cheat on your husband and nobody sees it or elaborates on it, did it really happen?

Carito and Miguel each having a "Why didn't you love me?" jealous-spouse moment with their original would-be boos was nice and poetic, albeit punctuated in both cases by Mark's henchmen (and suddenly Chinese Knockoff Ryan Gosling levels up in villano just a bit). That said, while Show still needs to give us one or two lines specifically about it to tie it in a bow, Juan turning out to have Lisa's lost cellphone was a nice callback. The hilarious part about that, and Graciela and Dr. Evil and Fer, is that Lilian increasingly is less of a villain in comparison and more of a plain old (it's still Azela Robinson, so it's not exactly plain) busybody bitch.

And maybe it's because it's in the blinding light of Ferzilla's atomic bitching, but David's come off as so much saner in these past few episodes. Still kind of reacting to everything versus acting, but the guy's trying.

Urban thanks. At the appropriate time Univision became 'No signal' last night so I saw ZERO. So with your recap it is like I didn't even miss anything.

9 Juan Juan is clever. RATS ! I wish I'd thought of that.

This will surprise no Juan, but I don't feel sorry for any of these jerks as the mini anvils start falling. Miguel, Carita, FerBrat, SkidMark, NoJuan, DisGrace, Lillian, DrEvil, they can scoop all them up with a front end loader like the disgusting refuse they are.

It seems backward, but we don't always get what we want in TNs, that the least unlikeable are getting theirs first, while DisGrace, SkidMark etc. are on cruise control. Maybe Carita gets to be 'with' Miggy after all?

Some of you Sherlock Holmes here predicted the cell phone in the box. That is big. Thank you Modern Technology which remembers without battery power.

Spell check takes exception to so many of my made up words and names I have to spell check spell check !

Marta doesn't like Luciana. Could be jealously Luciana may live a life Marta hasn't. She and Lilian are two sides of the same coin.

Oh yeah, as soon as Carito refused Miguel's job offer I thought, she's screwed. And then along comes Skidmark's pal. And they nabbed Mig just as I was thinking "I guess Miguel's safe for tonight." D'oh!

Now we'll see who gets to his hospital bed first - Luci or Erika.

I was watching without my glasses and when I saw Dr Anderson, I thought he looked like Martin Mull. (Not very funny, though.)

Tofie: "Marta doesn't like Luciana."

Sadly, I think you are right. She may "love" her but she doesn't like her. They can't be friends, they can't hang out together and do each others' hair, they can't watch a movie together, and they can't talk about anything without it going bad. They have nothing in common... or they cannot share what they do have in common.

Marta that smelly old dishrag, I'm tired of looking at her. She has all but come out and told Luci "You can't marry your Niece's Dad." I think that is the genealogy if Fernando is Luci's Daddy. Then Dis and Luc are half sisters, Fer is DisGrace's neice and also Luci's half neice? (Avunculate marriage clarification needed)

To explore my theory a little farther:

Let's see, there is an actual blood relation between Luci and FerBrat. FerSperm is FerBrat's GrandFather and Luci's Father. But there is no actual blood relation with Luci and David as the blood only flows downhill, so to speak. There is between him and FerBrat and between FerBrat and Luci but not Luc and Dav, so in a barnyard kind of way, it is alright for them to have children, or at least try, try, try.

Right, she'd be her aunt, or half-aunt if that's a thing. (I had to think about it, though.) Because Luci and Lisa would be half-sisters. There's no advantage to Marta telling anyone this, so I wonder how it will come out, if true.

Speaking of Martyra's friends, where are they? There aren't any. NONE. Do we ever see her with a girlfriend shopping, talking on the phone? Does anyone else in the vineyard consider her a friend? Well the two kids like her alright, but do they count? But the closest relationship she has is with Lillian. She talks to her more than to her own daughter it appears. And truthfully, lately there is little difference in the two conversations.

Marta's only friend is Ramon.

Julie: FerBrat is still a spoiled BRAT! We need Daddy Pope of ABC's "Scandal" to put her in her place & put the fear of God in her.

Kirby: The reason why Marta has NO friends is because she is THE HELP: a 21st Century Slave.

Tofie: I see that Carito wants Miguel so bad, is she willing to go to extremes to get him such as harming Erika ?

I'm getting real scared for Erika due to her lung problems, etc.,

Bill C: The kicker & Karma for FerBrat will be when she finds out that her sweet Tia Graciela whacked FerBrat's Mommy. Then, she'll change her bratty attitude soon.

UA: MUCHAS GRACIAS.

Marta is just bitter and Fernanda a club to beat Luciana. Perhaps she got pregnant with Luciana, it was Fernando's, he went back to Lilian and unsuspecting Marcos raised another mans child. Or Luciana father is Marcos and one reason Marta wouldn't leave and felt tied down. I also think she would have "forgiven" Brian if she didn't have to see Luciana's face everyday.

Julie yeah I had to do a flowchart.

Well, actually it looks more like an Org chart.

OT I worked for this company one time which was so unstable I accused them of doing the corporate org charts in pencil

OT My co. doesn't even post org charts any more. They'd have to hire someone to update them all the time.

"Marta doesn't like Luciana." Ouch. But I can't say you are wrong tofie.

"They have nothing in common... or they cannot share what they do have in common". Nailed it Julie.

And thank you for noting no morals Doc looked like Martin Mull. I knew he reminded me of someone but couldn't think of who! Still smiling

Diana

Thanks, Urban. Great job. Appreciate the dialogue between Luciana and Marta.

Luciana was so right. Teach your little brat not to blackmail her pop. But Lu should've told Mig about her relationship with David. Mig would've still blown his top, but she would've taken the high road in telling him out of respect for their friendship. After all, she was mooning over David at the same time she was nearing San Fran with Mig.

I have two sets of childhood friends, as well as parents (my mom was and still is a close friend of a sister of my dad's), who can attest that sometimes folks, like Miguel, do fall in love young (10 to 13) with a childhood friend and, unlike Miguel, live happily ever after with that love.

Erica needs to slow her roll and wait to see if Miguel values her as he should. Otherwise, she's doing the same thing he did to Lu -- pushing herself into a one-sided relationship.

Yay, Juan has Lisa's phone. It must've recorded DisGrace with Lisa, whether there's video or just audio.

I like Mig, but he's always so confident he can take care of himself, then getting his butt beat down. Why would he show up alone before Gut and his team?

"But the closest relationship she has is with Lillian. She talks to her more than to her own daughter it appears. And truthfully, lately there is little difference in the two conversations".

Hmmm, can't argue with this either Kirby!

I have really tried to like Marta but like her less each passing day. She has been an excellent mother (second mother prior to Lisa's death) to Fernanda and Bobby. She has been an adequate mother to Leon.

Someone mentioned the other day that if they had been Marta, they would have left (with Leon) to be with her husband and daughter once they were deported. I have been thinking about it and I don't think anything would have kept me from doing just that. What's stopping me from really getting on the anti-Marta train is that I really like Cynthia Klitbo.

Diana

wOW! I can't keep up with the comments! What an episode! Thank you Urban!

Agree with you, Urban, that Cesar looked suspicious! Thank goodness! I know a lot of us hope/believe he will be instrumental in outing this phony.

Interesting that when Dr. Anderson was talking to Grace and Lili he concluded that Luci must have helped David come out of his depression. When he said that, there was a clang of symbols. He followed it up with, ". . .these relationships usually don't last," but the symbols tell us were supposed to take note of that. Wouldn't it be refreshing if a crooked Dr. just couldn't go through with his plan, fessed up and said, "I'm outta here!" Anywho, if that happens it's not now cause that first session was brutal.

Another thing I noticed and think is a seed for later (much later) development is Fer looked surprised when David told her Luci had NOT told him about her relationship with Tano. I think I may go back and listen to her interaction with DisGraceful, Urban, after your description of it. I was just on bitch overload and FF>> through the whole convo!

Well, earlier I called Miguel an ass and he got it whipped just moments later! I still need to fuss about it: The nerve to have just literally left Erika's "charms," to aggressive grill Luciana, "Are you in love with him, did you kiss him?" A$$hole!

Carito, Miguel, DisGracie. . .if somebody don't want yo ass, they DONT WANT IT!! MOVE ON!! But then, if they took that advice, we'd have no show! That said, Miguel didn't deserve Lili's spewing lies about him to Adolfo. Glad that Erika and Luci stood up to their parents!

Marta belongs in the same chamber pot with Lilian and Graciela.
Amen, tofie! I also agree that Marta doesn't like Luciana and there is clearly jealousy going on: "I didn't get to be wit Massa, and you don't either!"

Very impressed with the way Tano stood up to David, being calm and respectful in his responses. I hope David realizes Tano is a help, not a hindrance. YES, Diana! Tano really shone last night. Move him right up there with Cesar as one of the sensitive, brainy, and thus SEXY men in this show!

LISA'S PHONE!!!! We were right! We didn't realize, or at least I didn't, until the showdown with David that NoJuan was in love with Lisa. I'm sure this phone is a kind of sick erotic fetish but what else is there? Why else is he keeping it?

And finally (for now) I think Juan offered Adolfo some information that would assure that he won the wine competition. Dirty Dog!

After weeks of doldrums, this show is packin' it in!

Lila, I think Juan is keeping the phone as leverage so he can continue blackmailing Disgrace.

Okay, cool. Thanks, Julie! I hope he plays a little bit of what's recorded to convince her he's got the goods on her so we can hear it, too!

I wonder what Perla will do if skidmark hurts Carito?

We have some nice inter-lacing of plot lines and intrigue going on here. I'm liking this show more and more!

On second thought...

Lisa probably didn't get her fight with Grace on her phone, because her phone's battery was supposedly depleted by the time she got to the river. However, it's possible that she recorded the argument with Juan before she took off. Not sure how much good that will do, though - David already knows that Juan was betraying him.

I don't remember who else participated in that fight. If Lilian was there, THAT would be something for David to hear that she was in on Juan's schemes.

IIRC, Lisa tried calling David when she was at the river and left a message. I was surprised they never showed David listening to her message, where she said something like they needed to talk right away about something she just found out. She didn't mention DisGrace, Juan, or Lil by name though, so I'm figuring that phone did record DisGrace and Lisa yelling at each other.

Lil, DisGrace and Juan were there during the fight in the vat room before Lisa took off to the river.

IIRC Juan told Lisa that David was at the river knowing he WAS NOT THERE. I think he knew David was in town at a restaurant at a business meeting. Now I can't wait to get home to re-watch that portion of the episode.

If Lisa called David while she was in the vat room arguing with Lil, DisGrace and NoJuan and the phone went to message, it would have recorded her message to David and picked up the conversation that was going on right after that.

Ok. No need speculating. I'm gonna rewatch that portion of The Rock episode!

Oh boy, Lila. I can't wait to find out what you see.

Niece, she called at the river? Ok. I think these folk need to employ a little flashback!

Is it just my imagination, or do we get a lot fewer flashbacks in this TN than most?

I just re-watched the last 10 minutes of Episode 4:

- Lisa overhears Juan, Lil, and DisGrace (DisGrace didn't know about the embezzlement at first, but is taunting Lisa about having David for herself.)

- Lisa has her cellphone out and says she's going to tell David about the buzzards around him and tells DisGrace to git out of her house.

- Lisa asks Juan where David is, and Juan says he's at the river. After Lisa leaves for the river, Lil asks Juan why he said that (David is not at the river) -- and Juan shrugs and says "I don't know." Apparently, Juan just said the first thing that rolled in his head. [Maybe Juan feels a weebit guilty about Lisa's murder since he sent her to the river?]

- Lisa's phone is in hand while she's running from the house, while driving the car, and while standing in the river. She tries to call David as she's standing in the river, but Marta had told him Lisa was running and looking distraught. Apparently David was calling Lisa at the exact time she was calling him. I think she got a busy signal or voice message. I was wrong -- Lisa did not leave a message for David.

- Disgrace reaches the river and the argument continues with Lisa still holding onto her phone. Disgrace bashes Lisa on the head. DisGrace watches her sister sink in the water and then runs away. We see the phone on the ground.

So Lisa's battery hadn't run down yet. Wow. Thanks, Niecie.

Wow! Thank's Niecie! Go to the head of the class! Whoo hoo! Yep, so the phone must've recorded the argument!

I think Juan sent Lisa to the river knowing Dave wasn't there so she wouldn't get to him with information about how they were screwing him. He wanted time for them to get to him first and snow him --- which they did a good job for years! He may feel guilty now, looking back but I feel he wanted to throw Lisa off David's trail. Of course nobody ever dreamed that DisGraceful would kill Lisa!

You're the real MVP, Niecie.

And this brings up a really important question: what exactly would be on Lisa's poor old Plot Phone? From the sound of that summary, the only time Lisa actually used it before Graciela ruined her day was immediately beforehand to try to call David. Did it somehow end up capturing some selfies of Graciela fleeing the scene after she clocked her sister and it had its own meeting with a rock, or did Lisa somehow end up recording their argument and her own murder?

Thanks, urban, for that excellent retelling . Is the pea soup simmering?

We have about a foot of snow so far, and it is still snowing. All the local schools cancelled last night , and I am on spring break. Therefore, no where to go. All the locals have put their plows on their tractors and pickups. Our neighbor will not be plowing us out until tomorrow morning . Hubba just made us toast and eggs and coffee.

Last night, I was surfing between The Voice and Vino. When recovered Fern started screaming "Te odio" at Daddy, I had to surf out for a minute and go back to the singing and banter.. I do feel sorry for her that Martin Mull's evil twin is messing with her tiny teenage mind. Cesar definitely gave Evil Doc the stink eye. Cesar is the smart , stable voice in this dramalama (thanks, dy77 for my favorite new word.)

Okay, we have the cellphone. The other day on the news , they had a story about people supposedly clearing everything off their cellphones before donating them to Goodwill. However, that stuff is not really gone and can be retrieved. So, we will see exactly what is on that cellphone that is going to expose Disgraceful as the stone cold sister killer she is.

Okay, okay, Miguel has finally ticked me off. What nerve yelling at Luci about Dave right after putting his pants back on from that recent trip to San Francisco. Miguel to Erica: " Woweewow, that was great. Now, I have to go see LUCI." Really, dude?

However, Miguel did not deserve that beating , and he doesn't deserve to die.

Niecie, I agree that some people find each other when they are very young and stay together. Hubba and I met when we were teens and started dating ..still dating .

Re the cellphone, all I remember is a shot of that cellphone on the rocks by the river just before or after Disgrace rocked Lisa, so I figured that it was important. As they tell authors, if you write about a gun in chapter one, someone has to use it to shoot someone by chapter three.

Niecie, thank you for providing us with pertinent facts from the pivotal episode. I remembered little...

I also really enjoyed hearing that your parents and friends fell in love young and stayed in love. That is the real romance in life. Susanlynn, it's obvious in your postings you and Mr. Susanlynn are a long term real romance :)

It's amazing that we are at episode 92 and yet it's really only in the last few episodes that we've had any forward movement.

I'm still griping a bit this is so short on romance...

Diana

Lila, I think Juan deliberately mislead Lisa. Now I'm wondering what they would have done if she hadn't died?

She would have told David immediately. Juan may have suggested murder but I'm sure Lili would not have gone along. Gracie? Guess we will never know.

Diana

Julie..yes, very few flashbacks in this show .

Diana. . luck of the draw.

Great job, Urban on those conversations. But I’d like to fill in the part at the end where “Dr.” Anderson was speaking with Fer. The next sentence was from Fernanda when she said: “And then you are going to discharge me?” Anderson answers, “No, I still have further evaluations to do on you.” I believe that’s when David knocks on the door.

How dare Fernanda tell her father that he’s a horrible father! She has no idea what a real horrible father is. Good fathers don’t let their kids get away with doing anything they darn well please. Bad fathers abandon their children, don’t support them and so on. And let’s not forget fathers who commit criminal acts on their children as well. Those are horrible fathers.

As for Miggy, he has absolutely no right to confront Luciana! How dare he, when he’s getting it on with Erica now. He wants to have his cake and eat it too.

Poor Carito. As much as I find her dislikeable, she doesn’t deserve to be tortured. I hope she gets away somehow.

Urban,Thank you. This was a hot episode. An even hotter recap. You hit
It baby.
And why is mig getting all bent out of shape about Lucy and Davy after he's
Done the deed with lady ericka? He's
Always known there was something there
Between her and Davy. And then he just
Walks away, really mig? Just Get over yourself.
I'm amazed how easy doctor nutjob can
Manipulate the queen of tantrums.Got
Her thinking she wanted to offherself.
He doin what dumb & dumbstupider told
Him to do (discrazy&liltheshrill).mark
Is slime. Wouldn't be surprised if he did What hes probably famous for, rape before he kills her.
Miguel, in so much trouble. I hope he survives. What a mess.
I really hope Cesar looks into doctor
Nutjob.He's already thinkin somethings
Up with this guy. Keep watchin Cesar,
Cuz your friend Davy is batblind or worse. The little brat can't seem to think For herself. And ya know shes a lot like dear old dad. They yell at each other and don't listen to what the other one is saying.Well discrazy
Did say she would make his children hate him, she said that to lucy,I hope
She remembers that when the time comes
How's she gonna turn boobby,Lol, cuz that's what it sounds like their call in him. Ok thanks again Urban. :)

Cynthia...I was thinking the same as you. How can Fern really think that her dad is horrible? I think that the writers had this thing with Fern go from zero to 60. I cannot buy Fern's extreme reaction to the Dad\Luci relationship. It feels very forced to me, not believable. Maybe I could buy it if Fern had come home early from the movies and caught them together. Like together together .

Fer's over-the-top reaction doesn't make any sense unless there is something actually wrong with her. Considering she has the same DNA as DisGrace, I suppose it's possible. But before this point there's been nothing to suggest that she's prone to histrionics.

I think some of this plays into the cliche of teen histrionics. Here we also have that being masterminded by a narcissistic aunt with an agenda.

Dr Nutjob (Good one, Nina!) is clearly looking to bleed as much money as he can from the succubi, which may now be his only source of sporadic income. If nobody else does it then Cesar will be the one to check this creep's creds and find out whether his license has been yanked or he was hauled up before a review board. He has no business practicing medicine and what he is doing to FerBrat is going to mean years of therapy from someone who is ethical and competent.

She may be bipolar to begin with, which this will only make worse.

As to the ongoing theories about a future Maury Povich situation, we still don't have enough information about the alleged affair to come to a final conclusion: Whatever happened happened in Mexico.

-- Both Luciana and Leon were born there.
-- Luciana is not blood-related to David, which is the only important thing here.
-- I have repeatedly said that Leon looks far less like the child of Marta and Marcos than Luciana does but if either of them is actually Fernando's child it really doesn't matter which one. However, it would be the greatest slap in the face if Luciana were the one. That would send DisGrace straight to the loony bin (where she already belongs).
-- As for a man boinking or being married in turn to two sisters, we've than seen that one more than once before.

Thinking about it, UA: in a Marta-centric sense, you're right that it probably doesn't matter which of her kids could be the subject of a Paternity Rug Pull. When it hits, she would theoretically lose support from both of them in addition to the loss of face as the wise old nana of Bodega de Los Angeles. We're also in agreement that, despite that, it'd definitely be the bigger bombshell and more clichéd novela trope trigger if it's Luciana--not so much for Graciela losing her mind, though that helps, but for Lilian.

That said, if it was Leon...I'm kind of puzzled as to where that would take him. He's largely out of the migrant story at this point, and pretty much down to dating Sonia and occasionally counseling Tano; so what the heck would he do? Lock himself upstairs at the Servants' Luxury Townhouse and bitterly wreck his massive collection of romance novels?

An addendum I just thought of: Leon is Luciana's younger brother, right? If a PRP affects him, that means Marta definitely cheated on Marcus with Fernando after Luciana was born and that means
1. Marta's level of unintentional-on-the-show's-part hypocrisy goes through the roof, and
2. Marcus possibly becomes even more sainted in hindsight.

Does anyone know the timeline in which Marta had her alleged affair with Fernando? Was it before or after she married Marcos? I hate it that she would have been cheating on Marcos (if she did), it's bad enough with her having an affair with a married man. Anyway, she seems to be projecting what she did on to Luciana in telling her to leave David. Doesn't she get the difference that Fernando was a MARRIED GUY and David is NOT?

So far, Cynthia, the only things that seem to be completely true are that Marta did cheat on Marcus with Fernando--as in Lilian said this something like thirty episodes back and Marta effectively confirmed it--at some undefined point and that Fernando died some time after that. Marta has said Fernando wanted to leave Lilian for her, Lilian has said Fernando apologized to her for the affair on his deathbed...neither are mutually exclusive, but the details are so vague that we still need it to be revealed in detail to us if not the rest of the BLA crew. Partly to just clear it all the fork up, and partly to help assuage the air of hypocrisy hanging around Marta like that damned frumpy blue sweater.

I don't think we know for sure that Marta was even married to Marcos yet. That's how murky this is.

Well if DisGrace finds out that Luci is her sister, all the more reason to kill her, as DisGrace reasoning goes, right? ? ?

Dam you can tell it's a snow day for you Yankees!

Yes, which points to poor planning on the writers' part. This is even worse than what the writers of PyP did with the backstories of the older characters. Nina's was non-existent and Arturo's had to be constructed from what wasn't said just as much as what had been said, but that at least summed into something that made sense.

Luciana is at least two years older than Leon. Both were born in Mexico. We are not sure how old they were when they crossed the border with their parents but I think it's a fair assumption that once they did that they didn't go back until Marcos and Luciana were deported. We don't know how long Marta and Marcos were married before Luciana was born but that would also not necessarily matter.

None of which necessarily means that either of Marta's children isn't Marcos'. All that has to happen is for David to marry Luciana and she is a member of the faaaaaaaaaaamily whether the succubi like it or not.

I only got 3" of snow and now most of it has been melted by the rain. It was a dud. I'm not complaining. :o) I get a lot more done working at home than I do in the office.

The stations down here had you guys pretty much being wiped off the earth by a snow storm. Glad everyone is alright.

Last night, the last forecast I heard was for 18 to 24 inches. It started snowing about 10pm. I think we finally got somewhere between a foot and 18 inches , but luckily, we did not get very strong winds. However, our mailbox was knocked over by the snowplows..as always! Tonight, temps will go down to 17, so that means icy roads. The schools will probably close tomorrow or have a two hour delay. So far , my spring break has not been very springy .

You can't help but wonder or hope, how little money DisGrace has left. Neither she nor Succubi#2 have any income, and though their every need appears to be paid for by Mr Robles, they can run up quite a bill with a shrink who has already warned them his disservices are not cheap.

I was under the impression that NoJuan pretty much tapped DisGrace out this last goround when she at first refused to pay.

Susanlynn, you were supposed to go to Cancun for Spring Break.

Kirby, I was thinking about Disgrace's money sitch too. She acted like it was a hardship to pay Juan the last bundle of blackmail money. And I haven't seen her paint anything lately. I don't know if Lil has any money at all; she seems to expect her daughter to pay for everything.

I don't think the doctor asked for any money up front. He might come to regret that.

Oh I just remembered - she fired her agent Joselo, didn't she? So even if she had paintings to sell, it would probably take longer. And Lil urged her to give up painting so she could concentrate on snagging David. Well done!

Yikes ! Sue. Seventeen de-frickin-grees should be against the law. When I used to live ? in that stuff my greatest fear was just not being able to get out of another's way when the crizies were skidding around on the way to or from work.

Julie...well, my sister is going to Cancun soon..me, no. We are hoping for a weekend beach trip..if the weather cooperates.

As to Disgracie's cash flow, She has been very busy plotting and fuming lately , so I don't think she has been knocking off too many canvases! Plus, she was pretty rude and dismissive to Joselo, so she seems to have burned that bridge.

Lilian , like Blanche Dunois in Streetcar , seems to have always counted on the kindness of strangers or more exactly the largesse of her roped and tied son in !aw. Has Dave been giving Lilian an allowance ever since he married Lisa?

Lil gives bitchery lessons online. That's where she makes her money.

Good points about the money.

We almost never hear anything about what anything costs, but that's pretty normal for novelas. DisGrace probably cries poverty thinking that her beauty will get her off the hook. Since Lillian never does anything useful we can safely assume she is sponging off both DisGrace and David. Since DisGrace's income from her "art" isn't going to be steady like a corporate paycheck -- especially since she is prioritizing her obsession with David over her career -- that will have to be tapped out eventually.

And we haven't seen Joselo in a while. He still needs to realize what DisGrace really is. I'd advise him to get a crucifix, a wreath of garlic, and some holy water.

That's what I was thinking. The first installment to Dr NumbNu......Nutjob has not been made yet. Although this show is actually over in Mex. I continue to try to will the writers some outs to these corners they paint themselves into.

Before Dr Nut has gone too batshit crazy with his machinations with Dim Bulb and daughter he should notice the checks bouncing and confess. Or at least change his tune and stop what he has started to do.

Then Lil should be rolling in cash. I wondered where all those people at work learned that.

"I'd advise him to get a crucifix, a wreath of garlic, and some holy water." and a concealed carry license just in case we are wrong.

and she is a human.

Random thoughts:

I wonder if Carita has had some alone time to think about what a friend Perla is, or if she has been pretty 'busy'?

Has anyJuan EVER seen Miggy WIN a fight? Boy sure aint no stranger to an ass whippin.

Did Perla know it was Lisa's phone when she opened the box?

Dave would have to be crazy not to see through Dr Nutjob.

Peroxide is also used in Rocket Fuel. What will happen when DisGrace's head explodes over her newfound Sister Luci?

Kirby: I'm hoping Carito gets some good guy in the end.

Are we're sure that Luciana is really Don Fernando's secret daughter ?

Steve:
1. It looks she might get a smelly guy first, then
2. Nooo. that was just me wondering aloud with some help.

Kirby, the only question I can say I think I know the answer to is about Perla.

I'm fairly sure she had no idea it was Lisa's phone. She looked completely puzzled.

This was a critical find. She has no idea how critical.

Diana

Is Miguel being attacked just outside the building where Marked is holding Carito ? Also, does Juan actually think that he and Gut are bffs just because Juan offered to help him with his event and they talked about it for ten minutes? Really, Juan? That easy?

Sue ...NoJuan thinks because he has Perla snowed and SkidMark AKA Shitstain has not killed him yet he is Henry Kissinger, the great negotiator. He thinks he is sooo much smarter than Gut, Skid, Perla, Miggy, Dave and DisGrace.

OK, OK...I give him about half of those, but that still does not make him a rocket scientist.

Wow. 82 comments for a weekday. Can you tell we're getting excited?
