Vino el Amor, #114/115, Friday Apr 7, 2017: Gracie Tastes the Rainbow
Cut scene: Luci, Susan, and David (in vest) talk about the winery's success, especially with becoming the Sunset restaurant's house wine. David is excited, and grateful to both of them.
Montage: Juan gives Perla some earrings; Luci, Susan, and Dave work together, and vestless Dave is smiling, but Luci looks sad after he leaves the room; Erika, Miguel, and Adolfo are working together, and they're laughing and cheering; Marta and Ramon work on something together in the kitchen, and shirtless Tano approves.
Dave plays video games with Bobby and a very bored Disgrace.
Miguel comes in with Erika's medication; Tano gets a text from Fer; Luci and Susan work some more; Sofia pulls Leon into an empty office. (End of montage)
Fernanda's test score has arrived, which means the montage covered about a week. She opens the envelope and announces to her family and Marta that she got "more than 1300 points." Not sure why so vague, but it's more than she needs for the school she wants to go to. Cheers and hugs.
Is that supposed to be a dress on Fernanda? I thought it was a nightshirt.
Adolfo shows Erika the Sunset restaurant's website, which is now boasting that they carry both Vino el Amor and Vino el Romance. Erika is disappointed and says, "so Luciana pulled it off." (Notice she doesn't say "so David pulled it off.") Adolfo tells her that when they win the big contest, restaurants will be begging to feature them as their house wine. But Erika thinks the restaurant's endorsement will mean points in favor of Bodega de Los Angeles in the contest. She is taking this very hard.
Cut scene: Graciela says they should have a dinner party to celebrate Fernanda's success. David agrees to let her invite Tano and her friends. Fer also invites Marta.
Cut scene: Erika is still fuming about Sunset. She doesn't like to lose. She's determined to beat David and Luciana.
Cut scene: Bobby is playing video games when Luciana arrives with some candy. He sulkily turns off the TV and sulks. She tells him there really has been a lot of work at the vineyard, and she finally gets him to smile. He tells her about the fútbol school and Fer's test.
Cesar congratulates David for getting the deal with Sunset, the most esteemed restaurant in the SF Bay area. David admits that it's thanks to Luciana. Cesar is glad that at least they're still "together" in business. Dave says it's because of the passion she has for the wine and the land.
Cesar mentions all the good luck David's had lately, Fernanda's improvement, the success of the immigrants' foundation, Bobby doing okay, etc. David credits most of this to Graciela. Cesar quickly replies that David deserves much of the credit as well. But David confirms that, much to his surprise, she's dedicated herself 100% to the kids just as she promised in her press conference.
Luci mopes around Susan's office (while Susan is concentrating on something) and sullenly insists that nothing is wrong. (I'm distracted by the jumbo slice of agate Susan is wearing as a pendant.) She tells Susan about the visit with Bobby. It's looking as though she's being edged out by Graciela, who also (through that fútbol player Cristiano, to whom Grace once sold a painting - hey maybe it was the foot painting) is helping Bobby get into a footie school. And Fernanda passed her test. Luci says she's happy for her (she doesn't look it), but she's hurt that she didn't get to play a role in all these good things.
(Now Susan and Luci are standing closer together than Luci usually stands with David.)
Luci's especially miffed that the woman Luci called a hypocrite, uninterested in the kids, now appears to be anything but. Luci is beginning to doubt herself. Maybe all this good fortune really is thanks to Grace, and Luci is the only one who's in the way.
Cut scene: Cesar and David with wine, discussing more of same. Then they discuss Cesar's love life. Susan is filled with fears and nightmares. David suggests that they try to get away for a few days, but Cesar says she'd rather concentrate on work. He's thinking maybe he should give her some space.
Cut scene: Luci and Susan talk about more of same. Susan encourages Luci to keep up the fight. Luci wants to find out if Grace is sincere about the kids. Luci says she'll stop fighting for David the day that he says he loves someone else.
Cut scene: Lilian, Grace, Sonia, and Marta plan Fer's party. Marta is well-behaved, but when Sonia says that Fernanda is smart like her father, Lil cuts in and says "like her mother, too." Marta offers to make Fer's favorite sushi and cake, but Lil decrees that they will order the sushi from a restaurant, and Sonia will make the cake. Sonia is taken aback. Grace will order flowers, and Lil says she'll invite Gut.
(still cut scene): Lil and Grace leave. Marta tells Sonia she'll help with the cake. Sonia is still stunned by what just happened. Marta says the important thing is that "mi niña" gets the celebration she deserves.
(combined scene): Fernanda tells Tano that she passed the test. He congratulates her, and they kiss. She invites him to the party. He's not sure at first, but he agrees.
Grace gloats to Lilian in Lil's room. Lil isn't happy at all; she's chafing because Marta was invited to Fernanda's celebration dinner. She's so offended by this, she actually makes Grace look sane for a moment. Grace reminds her mother that soon Fer will be at university and Bobby will be at fútbol school, and Marta won't be a problem. Lil looks forward to Bobby ending up in Spain. Lil wants to know, what about her? Grace says that when she finally gets Dave, she'll have Marta and Luciana thrown out. (Notice this doesn't answer Lil's question.)
(combined scene): I think Fer just told Tano that they can be a couple now?
(cut scene): Lil warns that even if she's won over the kids and become more important to Davaid, that doesn't mean he'll fall in love with her. Gracie is sure she can do it. Lil wants Marta and Luciana thrown out sooner. Gracie wants to do it her way. She stomps out of Lil's room.
(cut scene): Juan wants intel from Carito. Perla said she hasn't heard from her, and besides, Carito's mad at Perla. Juan insists. Perla says no. Juan says something about all the jewelry and gifts he's given her, I don't catch what he says about that, but it changes Perla's mind and she agrees to call Carito. Carito is mopping the floor and says she's too busy to talk and will call back later, but Perla says that she needs Carito. Carito says it's not because of Perla, but because of Juan. Perla invites Carito over and says she won't repeat anything to Juan. Carito reluctantly agrees. Juan rewards Perla with kisses.
Dave likes Luci's presentation/brochure for the wine contest, which now mentions that they're Sunset's house wine. She says she feels confident (not what she told Susan earlier). He tells her that Fernanda passed her test; Luci already heard about that from Bobby. Hesitantly, David says that their sacrifice is finally paying off.
Miguel is excited - he informs Erika that they're starting to get more requests for the Fronteras wine. Miguel's phone bleeps - it's time for Erika's medicine. (Why can't Erika keep track of this herself?) He wants her to stay healthy for all of their plans and dreams.
Adolfo enters with some proofs of marketing collateral for the competition, and it's good. Erika thinks they have a real chance of winning - and it's clear again that she especially wants to beat Bodega de LA.
Cut scene: Luci and Dave more of same. Fernanda is doing really well, teaching English to the immigrants. Luci says she's happy for all his good fortune. He wants to adjust his working hours so he can spend more time with the kids. She agrees that there's no substitute for family time, and she's glad for him and the kids. Dave utterly fails to hear the things that she isn't saying, and I'm disappointed in her for not saying them.
Fernanda is wearing a nice dress for her dinner party. Fer's friend Caroline and the other nitwit (both dressed casually) have arrived, the amateur bartender and pharmacist. Tano (also dressed casually) is next. Fernanda is saying how much Grace helped her. Lil has a strange expression on her face, somewhere between a scowl and a smirk.
Luci tells Susan she's not happy to have been left out of the party, but it's really not her place. She had told David that as long as he and the kids were happy, it was all worth the sacrifice of their love. She can't even call Grace a liar when they're currently celebrating as a happy family. She's very pleased for David and Fer and Bobby, but she's hurt that she had to be away from him for that to happen. Everything went wrong for them when they were together.
Cut scene: Lil brings Fer a gift that was supposedly sent by Gutierrez, who couldn't come because of an emergency (like he'd rather slit his own throat than be with Lil?). Graciela has good news too: Cristiano was able to get Bobby into the fútbol school and he can sign up now.
Cut scene: Bobby celebrates. David thanks Grace, and she says she did it all for Bobby. Then she clutches Dave's shoulder possessively.
Cut scene: Susan tells Luciana to hang in there. She offers more advice that I can't get, but I'm not sure Susan should be giving advice anyway... Luci is worried that all of the family's problems were her fault. Since Fernanda had her original breakdown (with the pills) there hasn't been a day that she didn't feel guilty. Susan tells her to just let things unfold. She's sure that Luci and Dave will be back together before they know it.
Carito visits at Juan and Perla's place. She's supposed to have an intel report on Dave's World of Wine, but all she says is that she not comfortable there. She can get a job at Adolfo's Groovy Grapes. Juan (who I think Carito wasn't expecting to see) is opposed to this, and says that they're all friends, and friends don't BETRAY one another. He says this in a very mild tone and his face is pleasant, but adds that Mark deserved what he got for screwing them over. Carito gets the message and asks if he's threatening her. He says nooooo, I could never hurt a friend of Perla's. And then he smiles, very friendly-like, and I think I see The Joker again.
Cut scene: Bobby is still excited about fútbol school, and Lil makes sure that everyone knows it was all because of Grace. Fernanda thanks Grace for helping her and her brother. Grace is so deeply touched by Fer's words. "You are my life," she says, hugging them.
Cut scene: Carito tells Perla she can't do it. Perla says that Juan is protecting both of them. Carito doesn't think so. Perla promises that he won't hurt Carito. Perla would go to the police first. Carito doesn't want any more trouble. Perla advises Carito to go back to the vineyard. Carito tells Perla to beware of Juan.
Cut scene: Fernanda says goodbye to her friends. Then she talks to Tano and I don't get most of it, but I think she's applying for a scholarship. David smiles as he watches them.
Marta comes home from Fernanda's party. She tells Luci they were all smiles, but she felt out of place. Luci is depressed. She thinks she's lost David forever. His life is all fixed up and there's no place in it for her. She thought they could get back together when things were better, but it's not looking that way. Marta tries to comfort her. Luci knew it wouldn't be easy, but she didn't think Graciela would be the one to put everything in order.
Luci says, "they say that when you truly love, the only thing you want is to see the other doing well and feeling content. I am truly glad to see David so happy, but I can't help feeling sad." Marta says that's normal. Luci cries.
Fernanda thanks Grace and her father for helping her out and letting her friends (especially Tano) come to the party. She goes off to bed. David then admits to Grace that he's been unfair to her, and he's grateful for all of her help. She says that she's not "expecting anything in return for my love of ustedes," but she moves in verrry close, and OH MY EYES!!! Not only is he not resisting her kiss, he's participating. This isn't the galan paralysis disease, this is the GALAN FAIL disease.
Oh, it's horrible. I see teeth. I see her little nose smooshing up against his cheek. I see her getting a mouthful of whiskers. Where's my tequila?
This could be a documentary film to scare kids off of kissing. (It's actually much less horrible than Luci and Dave, but I never had to recap one of their kisses. And I'm pretty sure that we weren't zoomed in as tight on their faces. This is an EXTREEEEEME close-up and it's just freaking horrible.)
Episode 115. The Horror Deepens.
Cut scene: Finally, David and Grace come up for air. Grace pretends to be shocked by what just happened - and excited to know that he feels the same way. David's reply is a little more measured; he acknowledges that she's supported him in everything, and she's pretty, intelligent, and talented, but he wants to do things the right way. He doesn't want to make the same mistake as last time. She agrees that they should get to know each other better. He's so handsome, she says, it's not right that he should be alone!
Meanwhile, Luci is still crying about David. I sort of feel like crying, too, because the irony is like a thumbtack in my shoe. Marta tells Luci she's still got plenty of life left to live. Luci can't believe that something that once made her so happy is now causing so much pain. Marta says that we learn from these painful moments in life. (And what do we learn from these moments? What did you learn, Marta?)
Grace is all "emocionada" over being "more than a friend" to Dave. Dave says let's take it easy and "let time decide." He doesn't want to mistake gratitude for "something else." (Well... I am confused. When he was grateful to Miguel and Erika for helping him out with the irrigation system, did he kiss them too?) She's willing to let things go little by little, but she promises he won't be sorry. (And there's an undercurrent in her manner that is clearly saying "Let's go to Vegas right now!")
Then she kisses him again. It's quick, but I think she stole some of his Skittles.
Lil is reading a book called Lady Killer. Graciela comes in all excited. Lil is still grumpy about the party and doesn't want to hear Grace's news, but since Grace won't go away, Lil consents to listen. "We kiiiissed," Grace sings, and Lil rolls her eyes. "Kisses don't assure the love of anyone," she says, and she would know.
They're going to start dating, Grace says. "Oh, dating," Lil repeats sarcastically, and warns that if Luciana is just like her mother - as she seems - she won't let Grace be happy with David. Grace says that she is nothing like Lil; she would never permit Luciana to be David's lover the way Marta was with Grace's father.
Full moon, and now daytime.
Cesar tries to make lunch plans with Susan, but she bustles around the lab, trying to avoid his gaze, and says no, she has to prepare samples for the competition. Then she'll go to bed. (Did I get that wrong? It's morning.) She denies that she's avoiding him, but he doesn't buy it. He says it's supposed to feel good, being a team, being a couple, but that's not what's happening between them. He's not a fool. It shouldn't be a big deal to ask one's sweetie to lunch. He tells her to think things over. "Are you breaking up with me?" she asks. Cesar sighs and rolls his eyes.
Grace takes credit for preparing Bobby's breakfast and suggests to David and Bobby that they do something fun after enrolling at the fútbol school. (She is rubbing David's arm like she's trying to start a fire.) Bobby says she is just the greatest ever, and she says there's nothing she likes better than being with them, but she looks a little disconcerted as Bobby sits down to breakfast.
Cut scene: Susan asks again if Cesar is breaking up with her, and he says maybe she should be the one to say. She wants to talk things over at some other time and place. Cesar says he's supported her, been patient, affectionate, and respectful. He agrees that what she's been through was powerful, but nothing he's tried to do for her has been any help. He's hurt by her attitude. He deserves honesty.
Cut scene continued: "Well, if that's what you want!" Susan cries angrily, but Cesar says no, that's not what he wants, but it's what they need. She needs to put her past aside and move ahead. Otherwise, nothing's going to happen, and they can't be together. He'll go to a motel for a few days, and she can stay at the house. (This man is a saint. Just sayin'.) Angrily, she says she'll go to her old house. He doesn't want her to do that. He wants her to make a good decision, and if she goes to her old house she'll be surrounded by bad memories. But Susan thinks she needs to confront her fears. They hug, and he leaves.
Cut scene: I wish this hadn't been cut. Sonia has a stack of David's shirts. Unable to resist temptation, she takes a light sniff at the shirts. Puzzled, she takes another, more substantial sniff. Then she frowns and holds the shirts up to her face and huffs. No effect! She's got to find Leon!
Lilian goes to the police station, where Gutierrez has all the time in the world to listen to her grousing. He says he doesn't like her fighting with him. She's hurt because he didn't come to Fernanda's party last night. He says he didn't go to the party because he thought it would be a teeny-bopper thing, but she accuses him of skipping out because Marta would be there.
Luci goes to the house looking for Bobby, but Marta says he's away with David and Grace to sign up for fútbol school. They'll be away for the rest of the day. Luci is chapped - she's lost both David and Bobby.
At first Gut denies it, but then he admits it's true. He didn't want to hurt Marta. He is tired of Lilian using him to hurt Marta. He asks, why does Lil always pick on Marta when he's around? (Gut, it's not just when you're around. She's like a tree falling down in the forest.) Lil says she just can't help it, because Marta is a horrible person. Gut tells her to stop the trash talk. That just makes her madder. She says Marta wants nothing to do with him, even after he saved Luci's life. She begs him to forget about Marta. She makes a sad face and says it hurts her that he still cares for Marta. He points out that she's the one who keeps mentioning Marta! He sort of pats her arm, but that's all.
Luci asks Marta, how can she forget about David when everything she sees reminds her of him? Marta tries to convince her that Bobby's happiness should make it easier. Oh shut up Marta. Luciana says that Grace is doing all these wonderful things without expecting anything in return. (Ouch, there goes that thumbtack in my shoe again.) Marta suggests that it is Luciana, not Graciela, who is obsessed. (I would like to put a couple of thumbtacks in her shoes.) "When it comes to David, you never understand me," Luciana declares, and marches off.
Cut scene: Tano and Leon are packing filled wine bottles. Tano is saying he had a good time at the party. Sonia rushes up and mauls Leon. She yells to everyone that she loves Leon. He tries to silence her. She tells him that her nose never lies.
Cut scene: Perla brings home some groceries (paper bags, not plastic) and tells Juan she got what he wants for dinner, but wishes they could go to a restaurant once in a while. Juan says they need to be discreet. (Yeah, nothing raises suspicions like eating a meal.) He's frustrated that he's not getting any help from Carito. Perla says she talked to her, and she will get Carito to help, but Juan has to promise not to do anything to her.
Cut scene: Ramon brings Marta roses and wants to formalize their relationship. Marta is hesitant. He wants a chance to make her happy. (continued) Finally, Marta replies, "how can I say no?" He promises she won't be sorry. He's in love with her. He will always try to make her happy. (Marta says things too, but they're about appreciating his support and friendship.) They kiss.
The thrilling threesome come home from San Francisco, and Bobby tells Grace what a great time he had. He runs off to call Charlie and Summer. David thanks Grace for what she did for Bobby, and she says it comes from the heart. And now she wants to do something for David...
...there is a long, suspenseful pause...
...she would like the two of them to go eat someplace tonight. Alone. So that he can get to know her better as a potential mate and as a woman. Then she steals his Skittles again.
Susan tells Luci about Cesar taking off on her. She doesn't understand it. Luci tries to convince her that it was a very loving gesture for Cesar to give her some space to make up her mind. Susan does have some stuff to work out. Luci urges Susan not to let fear or depression get the best of her. She should fight for her love. Susan hopes it's not too late. Luci encourages her not to lose hope, but admits that she doesn't know what to do with herself.
Cut scene: Erika asks if Miguel has read that thing she sent him. No, he's been working on something else. But he closes the laptop to give Erika his full attention. She sits on his lap and says she's found some apartments they can look at. He's worried that they're taking this a bit fast, but he backpedals and says of course he wants to be with her for the rest of his life.
Cut scene: Luciana tells Susan that when she helped David out of his depression, she thought that would be the biggest problem they'd ever face. Now she knows she was wrong. Susan still thinks they'll end up together. Luci seems to think that if they win the contest, it will prove to David that they should be together. More of same.
Erika suggests to Miguel that they compile a list of restaurant prospects, but he is distracted. She is worried that he is having second thoughts about living together. He says he just has things on his mind that he needs to deal with.
Carito is in the employee kitchen, vigorously scrubbing a very clean counter, when Perla arrives, allegedly just to say hi. Carito is suspicious. Perla insists that not only is Juan not going to do anything to Carito, he's worried about her. Carito doesn't buy it and says if she's being quiet, it's because she doesn't want the same thing to happen to her that happened to Mark. Perla says Mark got what he deserved, and she'll ALWAYS defend Carito. "Even from Juan?" "That's what I'm telling you."
Perla wants to avoid running into anyone else, so she's going to leave now. But she tells Carito that even though she hasn't always shown it, she's her friend, and she's very important to Perla.
Lil bustles into the big house kitchen and announces to Sonia that for now on, Lil will be very busy. (Marta makes sarcastic comments.) She'll be doing publicity work for the sheriff, so she won't have time to watch over things here, so Sonia will have to take care of it. Marta says things are just fine here, and even more so when Lil isn't around.
Lil says that with the kids doing so well now, she's not going to let Marta ruin it. (I just noticed Lil's boobs. That must be some contraption she's wearing underneath.) Lil's pulling Marta off of nana duty. Marta will be cleaning the whole house. She can see the kids in her paltry free time, but Grace will be taking care of them. It's time Marta returned to her "proper place" in this house.
David is at the police station without an appointment and without a vest, but Gut agrees to see him. David wants an update on the spoiled wine investigation. Gut has no evidence against Juan. According to the investigation, Mark bought the succinic acid, and it was delivered to the place where the undocumented workers were kept - which was rented by Mark. David says he realizes that Mark did things to hurt Susan, but he had no reason to interfere with David's wine. "I guess we'll never know," is Gut's unsatisfactory reply. He's sorry, but that's all they've got.
David urges Gut to keep looking. Juan had a motive, and he was Mark's associate. Gut says Juan broke up with Mark (sure, months after the wine was ruined), but David says of course he did, and for exactly this reason.
Cut scene: Marta and Lil squabble some more. Sonia tries to stick up for Marta, but Lil says if they don't like it they can scram. She leaves. Sonia and Marta let off some steam. There's not much they can do, since the kids are happy. Sonia promises to help Marta be able to see the kids.
Cut scene: Gut agrees that it all makes sense, but he can't go forward without any evidence against Juan. The problem is, he had a hard enough time getting the case reopened. He doesn't have any resources to put towards it. He needs to close it soon. David says this is Gut's chance to get back on his good side. Gut says he wants to do it because it's right, not because it's a favor. Dave apologizes and thanks Gut for saving Luciana. Gut agrees to keep searching, "but don't get your hopes up." Dave warns Gut to be careful with Juan.
Night falls.
Marta and Ramon chat with Luci, Leon, Sonia, and Tano. In spite of the bad news about no longer being the nana, Marta seems to be in a pretty good mood. She lets Ramon give the news: "Marta and I are together." No one is very surprised! Sonia is especially excited and says it's just like some romance novel, and Leon pretends not to know what she's talking about. Ramon promises to do anything necessary to make Marta happy. Good luck with that, Ramon. Maybe someday, someone will promise to do as much for you. But for now, he is happy that she accepted his offer.
Luci asks her mother for a comment, and Marta says she's "content." Hugses. Oh, there's Carito, where'd she come from?
Cut scene: Adolfo is happy about some restaurants being interested in their wine, but Erika's head is somewhere else. She's afraid Miguel's not into moving in together. Adolfo says she should talk to him and clear things up.
David and Grace come back from dinner. He admits that he needed the distraction. She says she could talk to him for hours and hours and time just flies. He was grateful for the break from working on the wine. He is still talking about the contest. She interrupts and says that nothing worthwhile in life is easy. (Which means that she is not worthwhile.) But at last he'll be able to accomplish whatever he wants.
And then, because he is leaning away from her on the couch, she leans waaaaaay over to kiss him, snagging just a couple of Skittles, and then gets up and tells him to have faith. Good night!
Now the employees are drinking champagne. Carito wishes Marta and Ramon luck. Luci pulls Marta aside, and Marta says she realized too late that things happen for a reason, and we don't always get an answer when we'd like. And she means that for Luci. She just wants Luci to see that at times the answer is not what we want, but don't stop being good. (I'm sorry, did I get that wrong, or is this just another of Marta's bromides?)
Sonia congratulates Marta. Leon congratulates Ramon. Tano asks Marta to take care of his father and says that Marta has always been like a mother to him.
Morning. Lil tells Grace that Marta's no longer the nana. Grace is in full charge of the children. Grace is drinking coffee and totally misses the perfect opportunity for a spit-take. She is not on board with this plan, not at all. Lil says she can use Sonia. The important thing is to keep Marta away from the kids and make themselves indispensable. "But not at the cost of my free time!" Grace protests. Lil says Fer is always out doing teenage girl stuff, and Bobby will be away at soccer school - Lil will drive him (!!) - and the payoff will be greater than Grace can imagine.
Luci and Susan are ready to show David (back in the vest) their latest draft of the presentation. Luci reads: "What is it that we all yearn and seek for all of our lives? That someday we'll be able to feel the passion and sweetness in a sigh. And only El Romance can give us this. With fruity notes that waft softly on the palate with the flavors of blackberries and apricots, giving us the sensation of having kissed a person that we love. A wine made with love and delivered by hundreds of hands. With care with dedication, every grape is transformed into a unique wine. I invite you to taste El Romance."
David is very moved. He tells Luci that there's no way not to fall in love with her words. He embraces her passionately. He does not kiss her at this time.

I will try to sleep now. I hope I don't have nightmares.
At least she's not drinking his blood yet.
"This isn't the galan paralysis disease, this is the GALAN FAIL disease"
I spent too much time on Creepy Uncle Dave yesterday and exhausted and sure you guys are too.
Kimberly Dos Ramos successfully kissed GS without gagging, she deserves a lead protag role.
This is different to have the "galan" fall into the villana's trap so late in the game. It actually makes me wonder whether because this is taking place in the US and there are no actual marriages in this story whether Luciana will say "To hell with this" and walk away, thus moving on.
As to Kimberly Dos Ramos, I suspect she very much enjoys playing a bad girl. It is usually much more fun. In fact, Cynthia Klitbo once said this in an interview years ago.
A lot of David's facial expressions during these two episodes looked like he was either unaware of what he was doing or that Gabriel Soto was thinking "WTF are these writers doing to me now?"
More later.
I wonder how many calories in a gnawful of Skittles. She better watch her figure.
I was looking for sprig of Charmin sticking out of Lillian's top.
Advice to SooSan: Your dreaded hubby is dead. So go ahead and prove conclusively to SiezeHer how totally flaky and nutty you are, so he can discard your psycho ass now, cut his losses, extricate you from his house and find a NORMAL woman. SiezeHer is a catch in your orbit: Not crazy, no baggage, employed, level headed, educated.
Dave wants to take it slow, get to know each other, little by little, yeah yeah yeah, "Oh you still have your tonsils?" "What a nice surprise." slurp !
Her looking over her shoulder to be sure he is watching her as she gives the behind a little extra wiggle as she walks away looked to me like maybe she was making sure her stinger didn't slip through the thin fabric of that red and black dress.
Perla does not need her dresses ANY shorter. With your thunderthighs, honey, less is more. What was her purpose coming to see Carito?
This is probably in one of the deleted scenes, but Lillian owned up to having favored Lisa from way back. Therefore, she is at least 50% responsible for what DisGrace is. The rest of the responsibility belongs to Fernando and the other adults in DisGrace's life during her youth. Now DisGrace herself is responsible.
She knows that killing Lisa was a crime. She felt entitled to commit that crime to get what she wants. She will not hesitate to try to kill Luciana if she still feels the competition. The only question is her choice of weapons. I wonder if she is intelligent enough to come up with a plan that would culminate in a blackmail attempt against David as in "Marry me or I will frame you for her death."
She is colder-blooded than Nuria of AQNMD so I could see her doing this.
DisGrace is pretty smart, and she knows to use the weapons she has at hand, her looks, the tribulations of others, and their stupidity/trust. Her chink in her armor is her temper. If that were under control, she would be almost unstoppable, like the Terminator. She is focused like that now, but she is emotional about some of it, and I think that might be her undoing.
GALAN FAIL? YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! GALAN IMPLOSION!
Kirby cracked me up the other day saying (I think it was) Perla is life support for a pair of panties. Well. . .
David is power-pack for a dildo!
He's the most useless, dumb-assed, lazy p.o.s. galan I've ever seen!
Julie, you wanted evil space robots? How about a brain-dead SPACED-OUT robot? Will that do!?
Thanks, girl. I got chores to do. I could use that mustache DG was chomping on to clean my toilets! Later!
Later!
I really liked him in "Yo no creo en los hombres", but definitely not in this TN.
Urban, I agree GS's face was... unhelpful. I kept trying to interpret his facial expressions and body language, but I wasn't sure what I was seeing. In the scene on the couch, he seemed to be trying to get as far away from her as possible - but he didn't resist when she kissed him. Maybe the message here is that David is confused (as usual).
And I know what DG is doing with those little kisses. She's trying to leave him wanting more. I can't tell if it's working.
It looks to be leaving him wanting a Rolaids.
As for SooSan I was very frustrated with the way she tried to brush Cesar off casually. He's a nice and patient man, and he would have understood if she'd said that she was glad to see him, but feeling overwhelmed right now and would like to catch up later. (And then later, with plates of food in front of them, she'd have to tell him that she was confused and scared. Some meal. But at least it's honest and she's not trying to hide anything from him.) Instead, at first she tried to pretend that she was too busy to look him in the eye. That's really dishonest, insulting, and hurtful.
Lila, no thanks for the offer of a brain-dead SPACED-OUT robot. Those aren't any fun.
Gobluefan, I found GS pretty lackluster in Querida Enemiga too. His face was often unreadable. I could never figure out whether that was intentional to build suspense, or if GS just couldn't emote. But I've seen GS emote, so I know he can do it, which makes me wonder if he's considered a "specialist" in making ambiguous faces on purpose.
I was really not impressed with Marta's comments during the Ramon scene. He was so happy, and it wasn't hard to read between the lines that Marta felt she was settling.
Now to watch the Mexican episodes. Hang on, this might take a while.
Like giving a cat a bath.
The cat loves it but it sure gets a lot of hair in your mouth. :-).
Well, what can SooSan be all freaked out about now? The guy who had been terrorizing her for (probably) years, got his just reward, and the icing on the cake is she was THERE. Move on Dummy. If you fork this up with Cesar over in essence northing, you will probably just go find yourself another SkidMark, after Cesar tires of your shit. As he should.
"She's so offended by this, she actually makes Grace look sane for a moment", " other nitwit" and "Lil has a strange expression on her face, somewhere between a scowl and a smirk" were great.
Like just about everyone else "This isn't the galan paralysis disease, this is the GALAN FAIL disease" captured David's inexplicable (and to me, unforgiveable) actions perfectly.
"Maybe all this good fortune really is thanks to Grace, and Luci is the one in the way". As the fractured family is seemingly being glued back together, Luci is understandably (and correctly) realizing life not only continued on without her but actually seems to be healing in spite of her absence. David and Bobby, two of most important people to and in her life are floating away with Graciela. As she gracefully bowed out of David's life, he repaid her by yielding to Graciela's lure.
"Hesitantly, David says that their sacrifice is finally paying off". Of course he mean's Luci's sacrifice as it is clear he is not the one hurting. I suppose we should be relieved Luci didn't walk in on he and Graciela.
"Stinger" is right Kirby! Graciela's hidden weapon.
Urban, I'm thinking Gabe Soto is as perplexed with the stupidity of his character as we are. The inscrutable stares are baffling to me as well. It's as though he is being directed to say the dialog without giving any hint as to what he is thinking.
Marta says she's "content." Wow. tofie I think the "beta twins Ramon and Cesar" both deserve better.
I can't imagine where this is all going to go.
Thanks Julie.
Diana
It struck me last night that the only unhappy character at the moment is Luciana. I'm not as sad for her as some of you. Luciana is mostly unhappy that the world is not all about Luciana at the moment and life has gone on without her, IMO.
GS did a much better job playing a galan in YNCELH but let's face it, the writers did a much better job crafting a galan. He didn't kiss as weirdly in that one either. I'm with you gobluefan, I wonder if this very lackluster performance will hurt his career.
Oh, it's horrible. I see teeth. I see her little nose smooshing up against his cheek. I see her getting a mouthful of whiskers. Where's my tequila?
(She is rubbing David's arm as if she's trying to start a fire.)
David is at the police station without an appointment and without a vest
Nope, nothing to say in favor of David at this point. I guess in his mind he's still true to his love for Luciana because he only kisses DisGrace back when she face attacks him. Now, if he initiated a kiss himself, that would be wrong. Lu, you dodged a bullet not landing this Stepford Man.
I'm guessing the director says to GS "just look blank, so the audience hasn't a clue" when DisGrace kisses him. He was pretty good in Yo no creo in los hombres, La fuerza del destino, Un refugio para el amor, and La verdad oculta.
And I don't blame Luci for being sad. I don't think she needs the whole world to be about her, but she went all in with Dave and thought he was right there with her. Now that's done. It was supposed to be temporary, but it's permanent. Meanwhile, she appears to be doing most of the work for the contest with Susan, and David's main contribution seems to be stopping in once in a while to give his approval. She got a raw deal and she is reminded of it constantly.
Hopefully no actor's career will be hurt by this TN because there are clearly some real problems with the script and direction.
I guess that the writers are ramping up Gracie's rapidly increasing success in her life's mission to snare her sister's husband so that her ultimate downfall will have a stronger impact..along with freaking us all out and ruining our sleep and appetites .
Maybe Lil should read a book about not looking like an idiot. Maybe there's a "Don't Be an Idiot for Dummies" book, or a "Complete Idiot's Guide to Not Being an Idiot."
I've finished the first episode and am about a quarter of the way through the second. There were a lot of cut scenes in the first, but most of them were "more of same" stuff. I don't think there's as much cut stuff in the second episode, but what I've seen has been more interesting - like Susan and Cesar's actual discussion after she said "are you breaking up with me."
I couldn't get every picture I wanted. Grace made a funny face as Bobby sat down to breakfast, but it was too quick to catch.
I think Grandpa Dave has a mini hamster on a mini hamster wheel firing up his brain. Sometimes it stops to take a nibble of its food, and we see Dave dumb and expressionless. That must be what's happening, no other explanation makes sense.
Run, Lucy, run!
L Linda
Which is practically a repeat of "Love Hurts." Probably next week I'll have to do "Love Kills."
Oh and the deleted scene with Sonia sniffing at David's shirts---that was hilarious and I wish Univision hadn't cut that one.
Did the wardrobe department fine Lilian's leopard sweater at the Goodwill or what? Looks like one of those things someone gets you for Christmas as a white elephant gift.
DY, yes I see Luciana as unhappy, but at least she is able to throw herself into her work and do a very good job. When the lovelife fails, at least you can throw yourself into your career.
Urban, I totally agree that DisGrace is a psychopath. I've known some very attractive and charismatic psychopaths in my life who were very manipulative. They will do anything and everything to have their way. Some murder and some don't but they are all very manipulative and non stop liars.
Taste the rainbow.
I got stuck running around last night, so I totally missed this episode...thank you so sooooo much, Julie, and I'm actually kind of pissed that the editors we love to hate saw Sonia's epiphany about no longer being attracted to David over her lion cub--let alone finally declaring her love for him to all and sundry--and went "Nah, nobody wants to see that." Fork you, Uni, we wanted to see that!
Ahem. That aside...Graciela getting one step closer to conquering Mount Robles wasn't an eye-burning moment to me, but it did stick out as both KDR and GS being more into it (if in a slightly clumsy way the first time around) than GS and IB usually have been. I mean, hey, acting, but it was still funny that KDR just went for it and smoosh while more often than not GS has to basically palm IB's head.
"And what do we learn from these moments? What did you learn, Marta?"
Another annoying thing the show's been consistent about: the idea has always been that Marta "learned her lesson" about love from her affair with Fernando. In execution, though, she's seemed to really only pay lip service to it while persisting in her endless war of words with Lilian and the show's glossed over any real moments where she could be seen as having truly paid for it or so on. Especially considering the buildup to it, this may be the one thing Show has completely, utterly, failed at. Even over GALAN FAIL (albeit that's a very close second).
As for David's oh so expressive face: I'm inclined to think that he's supposed to be a generally reserved guy, but after 100+ episodes of "stoic face" it's given way to Lurking Linda's idea of his personal brain hamster taking longer and longer breaks. Inscrutable only goes yay far if you're not backing it up with some sort of thought process, show, and he's not doing that unless it's with Cesar or Susan.
Dare I say that Azela Robinson kindasorta pulled off Lilian's vaguely 70s-art-film hybrid leopard-rug sweater thing, but the weird flower clasp...I guess Lil's consistent, though. Susan has her neo-hippie jewelry, Luciana and Erika and Graciela have their painted-on pants, David and Sonia have their vests, and Lil has her awkward flower things. (That said, Lil's neverending eyerolls at Graciela crowing about the kiss were todo. Todo, people.)
By the way...when the fork did Ramon and Marta become a couple before they announced it at the Servants' Luxury Townhouse? Because we sure as hell didn't really see that (see also: Cesar and Susan), unless I missed something.
Marta's lesson - what I was getting at was not that she hadn't learned anything, but that she hadn't learned anything good. People (mostly those who haven't experienced any hardship, I'll wager) often say that we should try to learn from our bad experiences, as if we will gain some great wisdom. Well, we do learn, but what we learn isn't always so great, or it might be just plain wrong (drawing incorrect conclusions). For example, as far as I can tell, Marta learned that it's fun to rub Lilian's face in her husband's adultery, and that she can't be with a wealthy man. (She'd have had better odds with a single wealthy man, but like I said, drawing the wrong conclusions.)
Between David's face, Luci's face, and Brian's face, I'm inclined to blame everything on the director(s). These actors don't seem to know what kind of faces to make. They've all demonstrated before that they can perform, so the problem is not with them.
"when the fork did Ramon and Marta become a couple before they announced it at the Servants' Luxury Townhouse?" about ten minutes earlier, in a cut scene which I described in my updated recap that I finished just a little while ago. He asked her, and she said yes. (After some dithering.) They've been "dating" for a couple of weeks, I think right after he had to drag her away from the coffee shop where she overheard Lil telling Gut of Grace's plans to seduce Dave, send Bobby away, etc.
WHICH, By the Way the brainless Hussy has still not mentioned to David.
But it was exhausting listening to Luciana "process." It was very repetitive and if they couldn't come up with a greater variety of things for her and Susan to say, I'd rather someone else got the screen time.
The scene between Luci and Marta only served as a reminder that Luci's father was a better mother to her than Marta was, so I could have done with a lot less of that, too.
The cut scene between Marta and Ramon did not really provide any valuable new information, but it did show just how mismatched Ramon's and Marta's levels of enthusiasm are.
We'll see what she does when she finds out about the illicit Skittles transfers. If she really wants to help Luci and the kids, she'll tell David then. But that's a big if, as even now she's not encouraging Luci at all. Hopefully her devotion to the children is greater than her lack of enthusiasm for Luci's love life.
You know, I wonder if one gets this type of galan if the female characters are strong. Do you guys think all the women are strong? If so, does that require a wimpy, indecisive, easily manipulated "galan."
Susan started strong. I'm not going to bash her for having been abused. I'm not sure what I'd call her now, though, other than in need of therapy. Erica is still strong, I guess, but she has become so insecure and this thing of Miguel taking over administering her medications is silly. Yeah, she has an illness but she seems weaker since she hooked up with Miguel. Carito isn't the strongest either though she seemed more so before she let herself get talked into coming back to Sonoma.
But Luciana, Lil, Grace, Marta, Sonia, Fer, Perla I all see as strong women. Strong doesn't have to necessarily mean smart in "book learnin'" or street smarts. I guess I'm looking at strong-willed, determined and convinced in the rightness of one's objectives and world view, even if it's whack. Perla isn't the greatest example of strength but I think the conversation with Carito and the flimsy "reassurance" that "Juan won't hurt you. . ." is the set up for Juan to do just that to Carito and then Perla will live up to her vow to turn Juan in to defend/avenge Carito. The women closest in David's orbit, Fer, Lil and DisGraceful pretty much play Dave like a cheap fiddle. His wimpiness doesn't take away from my perception that they are strong.
I don't know. Then again, it could all be poor acting and direction. Whatever's behind Dave's implosion as a galan, he's killed my desire to see him and Luci together. I wish she would just blow that pop stand and let David eventually learn he's screwing his wife's murderer and let the roof fall in on his happy "faaaaaaamily." What a disappointment he is. And Grace, cold-eyed, cold-blooded killer is the real leading lady in this piece. Sigh.
I'll give Sonia only an honorable mention, because she's putting up with crap from Lil that she shouldn't tolerate. And Carito, only an honorable mention. She should never have let Perla talk her into coming back.
Perla, I don't see as strong at all. I'm hoping she'll prove me wrong, but so far she's been happy enough as Juan's arm candy.
I'm not ranking Fernanda as a woman. She may be of age, but she is still a child.
Having strong women does not require a passive, indecisive galan. What it does require is a strong and smart script, so that characters don't, for example, sit on explosive secrets which, if revealed, could help their friends. These writers are supposed to be professionals, so why is this kind of crap still showing up in TNs?
I'm blaming most of this show's problems on a weak story/script and weak direction. There are obvious issues with the story, and in addition, the actors don't seem to know what they're supposed to be doing.
There's an additional problem, with GS and IB. At first I thought it was intentional, but apparently it wasn't. Don't they test for this kind of stuff when they're casting a TN?
Somewhere....Anywhere besides the DisFunctional Vineyard of Luuurve wine. Get the fork out of there, lick your wounds for a while and then stop worrying about it. Learn to ski. Skydive, DO Something.
And like you said, David will eventually find out he is with the murderer of his beloved Lisa who is in collusion with her evil Mom. And if he doesn't kill both of them with his bare hands he will be in a funk a lot longer this time than he was when Lisa was MURDERED.
So Luci, little one, you JUST DON'T NEED IT. Stupid trumps Love.
What do you think was up with Miguel hemmin' and hawin' about the apartment?
Erika's more independent than most of the women Miguel has been around, so he just doesn't know what to do.
I was also sad to miss any scene with Sonia, especially her realization she is no longer crushing on David, but that she truly loves her lion cub. I feel Sonia is a very strong woman. Strong women often have to swallow situations where people are cruel and hurtful. They do what they need to, to survive. I don't know if Sonia realizes what a gem she is. We certainly do.
I was not sad to have missed Ramon and Marta's getting together. It's so painfully obvious he is in love and she is in like. She's had a bit of a tumultuous romantic past so perhaps she is ready to be "content". It just seems so unfair to Ramon - he deserves to be loved, not to be "settled" for.
What an astute comment this is Lila: "I don't think I've ever seen a show that took me so out of the world the actors are supposed to be creating to wonder about the actors themselves". Yes, and the writers are primarily accountable too.
Diana
Sonia in her own quirky way. I have enjoyed the Sonia/Lion Cub more than anything in this show, from her initial flubbering blubbering drunken "dates" with Leon to the present
Leon. What a nice young man. Perfect with Sonia. How he turned out so normal with a space cadet Mom Marta Who knows. Seeing his own Mom in those shoes all these years could have deeply scarred Lion Cub, but no.
Tano. Ramon should be proud. He accomplished more alone than many husband/wife teams do.
Ramon: Pretty normal, but he won't be for long after hooking up with above evil space rob...cadet.
Cesar: Good friend, good boyfriend, prbably a good Doctor too, just bad case of #dontknowshitaboutchicks
Bobby started out OK, but he is now headed down a very lonely road..... thank you Dumbass and DisGrace.
Adolfo Great Father, but afflicted with same disease as Cesar.
Another immigrant story (Why two of these back to back?) and this one stars Ariadne Diaz whom I can't like because of her nasty little brat character in La Malquerida (which I bailed on because of).
What I wish they would do instead was what they did with Que Bonito Amor, which was to give us 1.5 episodes per evening with limited commercials and starting 5 minutes earlier (or ending 5 minutes later). When that series aired we only lost the equivalent of 1.5 episodes of the whole thing. That wasn't easy but it beats hell out of this.
Diana, Lila, the one other time that the actors' performances really disappointed me was in STuD. You'd think Lucero and Fernando Colunga wouldn't have a problem, but I felt that both of them were phoning it in, out of frustration over the very bad script. Don't get me wrong; they were very professional, did everything they were supposed to do, and there was no question as to which emotions they were supposed to be emoting. Both they both looked to me as though they wanted to go home.
Love, a few struggles then marriage and happily ever after is old fashioned and silly. I guess I'll have to get on the internet and go find some old novelas to watch. :/
Whining party over.
What really worries me is the possibility (which exists only in my mind) that they could start doubling up the episodes, showing two hours per night which would be four hours of Mexico episodes.
I just realized that it's been a long time since I've watched a TN that Uni hasn't messed with in one way or another (except for Hotel, which Uni produced). TVA was subjected to all kinds of scheduling insanity, and Yago got bounced to Unimas. Before that, I don't remember specifics, but I do know that Uni has a long history of changing the deal on people. That makes me increasingly hesitant to start watching a new one.
I remember when that annoying girl's mother stuck her head in the oven, I wondered if it was even a gas oven.
It was sad to see all of the other actors trying so earnestly to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
I am wondering if this (what we're watching now) is where TNs are headed. Admittedly it is very suspenseful, but for all the wrong reasons. And there are so many dysfunctional relationships. So much misery. No one to look up to.
I was just reading some old Destilando Amor recaps... Rodrigo sometimes wasn't very bright in that one, either. But he was not passive, didn't let everybody walk all over him.
Urban, appreciate the info on La Double. What is the rush for Uni to start it in early May? I mean we've all stuck with this plodding, confusing story for months now. The least they could do is let us see what little action that's finally arisen in its entirety.
That said, I am really looking forward to La Double. Africa Zavala is in it as is the excellent Danilo Carrera from PyP. And while there's no doubt Ariadne Diaz was hardly a heroine in La Malquerida, I do like the actress (especially her brief stint in El Color). David Zepeda? Sigh. Not so much. I certainly hope this turns out better than this.
Beautiful duck Kirby. Fantastic avatars.
Diana
Julie, thanks for tracking down and reporting on those scenes that Uni evidently did not think we needed to see.
I have been enjoying all the comments...smart,funny, insightful.
Urban, thanks for that link. I am in for the new telenovela because I loved hating Ariadne and loving Africa in LA Mal..Zepeda..meh. I have never seen Julion Alvarez in anything , but he looks very handsome, and I like his smile and his hat. Count me in.
Will there be vests ?
I do not know what is up with GS's p p p poker face p p p poker face, but it is similar to the one on his face throughout Enemiga Querida. As to the lack of chemistry between GS and IB, don't they usually test for chemistry between the leads when they are casting?
Okay, at the risk of getting detention, I am going to just say for those of you wanting love and romance and sizzling chemistry subscribe to Starz because Outlander returns with season three in September. Be still my romantic heart.
QE remains in my top 10 favorites to this day. That was the first time I saw Gabe and I felt his acting was at times rather wooden. And while I don't want to ruin the ending for anyone who hasn't but plans on seeing it, in hindsight, I think that there was some purpose in him playing it that way. So, I'm still speculating that this ending might be different than what we are expecting. It is rare that the galan isn't warm and loving and that the audience doesn't root for evil to be vanquished and that he and his true love live happily ever after.
If David and Luci do get together, I will not be excited because I just don't believe in them as a couple. It could be something will occur to change the tide, but it would have to be a huge tidal wave for me at this late date.
Diana
Batman (Adam West) and Robin, as well as the original Power Rangers cast, were tested for chemistry. That wasn't even for sexual chemistry, just to see if they had the right team to be able to pass as friends. If your characters can't pretend to be close, your show is DOA.
You have to wait till September?!?!?! That's five months away. What are you going to do until then?
QE is still in my top... let's say four. I agree with Diana that there was a legitimate reason for GS in that one to be playing it close to the vest, so to speak. That's what I had in mind when I said that he might be considered a specialist. I really won't know until this TN is finished whether the problem is the story/script, or the director. (I have confidence in GS's acting ability, so if I'm not happy with his performance I feel sure that there's another explanation.) BUt either way, there is a problem. This "suspense" isn't normal or appropriate.
The problem is that Luciana seems devoted to David, so I'm supposed to want them to be together. But David really doesn't seem worthy any more. How can this have a happy ending? If Erika dies, maybe Luci can end up with Miguel, but what about David? Just how much of a punishment does he deserve?
Recap.
Adolfo's groovy grapes, that had me laughin out loud.

Ok waaaaay past my bedtime. Thank you
Juls, and good night.☆
Wonder when it will sink in Marta as nana is no longer needed. Fernanda and Bobby seem to be thriving and happy under Graciela's influence. She's always insisted Luciana sacrifice but will she practice what she preaches?
Orkin, Terminix and our local Critter Gitter team would not be able to extricate Marta from her free digs.
Putting her out that front door would look like putting a cat in a commode Lots of claw marks and fur on the floor..
Maybe some of our specialists who work on Alligators and those 12 to 15 foot long pythons. Those guys are a funny bunch though. You'd have to get them a plane ticket and a hooker, minimum.
kj
Okay Nana Gracie, time to make the sandwiches and help make a model of the solar system...and no..do not put yourself at the center .
The car Franco bought himself turned up in Mujeres de Negro.
I didn't pay attention to NoJuan and Perla, was it that huge green thing?
It showed way better taste than the cheap crap Nina wore for jewelry.
When I went to pick it up at the counter the (giggling) girls there took one listen to my Southern drawl and told me there was no way I actually wanted that car.
I took their advice and 3 minutes later in one of those taxi's secretly blessed those gigglers.
Yet? I've watched it abit, looks like it could be pretty good fer love in the afternoon.
When MdN is over it will be replaced by La Candidata, which will be my next novela to blog. I'll be relieved of double duty for a while unless a new one comes along with my favorite mature hero, Jorge Salinas.
For what I do not know.
Glad your day is better Julie.
It was a beautiful day today, I hope it was for everyone else. It's been a long winter. Nice to see the sun again.
Diana
Juan's hatred of David is also about Lisa. That is why he has the phone.
That particular crime of Lil's is not the biggest crime of the story, but it has to be revealed (along with her causing the deportation). David won't like it when he finds out.
So, we know David did date Graciela before Lisa, but did Juan date Lisa too Urban? Maybe we knew that but I can't recall.
I would have thought Gracie would be going after Juan for trying to destroy David. Either he doesn't seem him as that much of a threat, or all of her time and energy is being diverted in trying to snag David.
Diana
The main reason I think there's something on Lisa's phone is that blackmail victims usually (I assume) demand to see proof before they agree to anything. Having Juan as a witness that she came from the general direction of the creek after Lisa disappeared, but before she was found dead, has been enough to blackmail her with so far, but if Juan wants to raise the stakes he can threaten her with the phone only if he can prove there's something on it.
On the other hand, since he's been able to blackmail Grace without the phone, he might have something else in mind for it. He keeps telling Perla that he wants to totally destroy David. If he thinks David is in love with Grace, showing David the evidence (if there is any) that his girlfriend killed his wife would devastate him.
You know that you can click the avatar and the Google page will open, then click the avatar there and see full size?
She sternly warned NoJuan a number of times that David is strictly off limits. but we were not privy to what exactly she meant. Was it that David the person must not be damaged, or David's "world" so to speak, is not to be tampered with?
My belief is that she meant David's World, but it was more than a week ago and the ADD writing staff lost their notes from back then.
That is a good question, what is Grace supposed to do with a broken Dave. I guess she is putting out one fire at a time.
I don't see how she can warn Juan about anything. She has nothing on him that we know of, correct? If she has a plan to deal with Juan, what is she waiting for? Does she know she can't LITERALLY paint him into a corner?
Given the uneasy truce between the two, nursed along by their mutual need for each other's help in the 'Grand Scheme', Lillian is an abject fool to believe DisGross will not kick her to the Kirb when she can.
I genuinely hope Lillian is the first to find out that DisGrate(sonmynerves) is a murderer, so we can see if she still thinks she can trust a daughter who murdered her other daughter. Will Lil keep quiet in the hope that information will ensure that she stays in the lap of luxury? Or will she be disturbed enough to tell some one?
I don't think so. I'd be surprised if
They did. Cuz gut is lurkin in her mind and heart. And again wardrobe people help Marta with a makeover.Stat
I think she has beautiful eyes.
I don't think Graceless is thinking about Dave's wealth or Juan taking it. She is just thinking "yippee skippee, I am getting closer to taking what my sister loved..Dave." Obsessed people are not logical. Lilian's main objective is staying in the lap of luxury and in a position where she can ordered underlings Marta and Sonja around like a queen. (I spent several hours yesterday watching the struggle for the crown of England in the 15th century in The White Queen and saw similarities to this show).
I missed Friday's episode and the kissing, but Kim is pretty good at the evil . I am both cringing but anxious to see what happens tonight as Gracie continues wiggling her way into Dave's World. I bought popcorn.
Nina, if I go by what's in the (unreliable) script then Marta and Ramon don't have a chance... she is not into him. As for the makeover, I think that's already begun. Her dresses are slightly less horrible and she is now wearing pumps rather than clogs (which is a radical change for the feet).
I spent ten minutes earlier this morning trying to figure out why I couldn't remember what happened in last night's episode. Duh... need... coffee...
Osprey and young Eagle fighting over territory. Yes Eagle is being attacked from above and is flying upside down.
Is it possible that David and Fer will never know what Dr Evil did? The only people who can tell them are Dr Evil and Grace.
I did not know eagles could fly upside-down!
I tend not to believe in rehabbing villains, especially after the writers of PyP did it. However, unless someone can prove that Lillian was responsible for murdering her husband she hasn't done anything yet she can go to prison for. She might, however, kill Dr Evil if he can be proven to have caused harm to Fernanda. If she did that I'd give her a pass because that would be a public service.
However, the most likely thing is that Gracie will get sufficiently thrown off guard at some point and admit this carelessly or be overheard during an argument with Juan, but that is at least 20 episodes away.
Ramon could take lessons.
Are they doing a sneak make-over on Marta to surreptitiously make her look better to us, or is this the new and improved Marta who has turned over a new leaf with Hot Potatoe/Ramon?
The only other thing might be the paper trail to Dr. Evil's drug source comes to light and he is exposed. But it would have to be a far more involved investigation than we have seen in other things. Remember this is in U S A as they chanted on Little Giants, so our drugs are strictly controlled. Especially mood altering if you can call them that, drugs as they are the most abused. If Fer still has a partial bottle, that could bring everything to light, but is a long shot.
There are so many stupid loose ends in this show, it is hard to stay tuned hoping for a morsel. I'm like a starving dog hoping for a thimble sized doggie treat. And hoping and hoping and hoping...............
I hope when DisGrace finally gets David to San Francisco he abruptly tells her, "WOW Grace, you are nothing like Lisa, I guess just expected too much, you two being sisters and all. I think you need to see Anderson yourself."
I am more curious about how homicidal Grace will get when the anvil rain begins. Remember, she didn't set out to kill Lisa (I think she would have preferred to steal David right out from under her sister). And she hasn't moved against anyone else yet, not even Luciana. I don't think that's so much a matter of conscience (she has none) as of risk. But if something happens to flip that switch, she could go after Luci, Juan, Dr Evil, Lil, Fer, Bobby, or even David.
I actually stopped looking for evidence of murder by Lillian a while back. These writers have been too casual in their introduction of this past conflict with Marta and did a very bad job of the whole thing.
However, they have allowed DisGrace to make speculative statements about killing Luciana so I think she will eventually try. The question is who will stop her.
Even had Graciela not killed Lisa David's passivity would have encouraged her. Lisa didn't trust her around David, he thought her jealously unfounded, and that would have been a huge problem for their marriage.
OOPs.... wrong novela!
Evil Space Robots can only do so much. And they eventually ahve to go home to their home planet.
The Ghost of Lisa Past could be truly vindictive. Imagine DisGasping waking in the middle of the night from a nightmare that she was drowning in a river.
And those big landscape rocks in people's yards would strike terror too.
That is far better than Dave just telling her they are not compatible after a test drive.
Imagine every time DisGnaw planted one of those sweet little microkisses she got a nice ghostly bitch slap to spin her pretty head around.
I've seen ghosts in TNs before. The one in PESE made her husband (who caused her death) swerve off the road and down a hill, and then she held his legs when he tried to get out of the flaming car, causing him to be horribly crippled and disfigured. The only disappointment was that she waited till the last episode to show up. She could have saved everybody else a lot of trouble. (Or maybe she haunted his dreams, I don't remember - but that didn't help anyone else.)
Julie: Lilian's apparent aversion to murder does make it seem like she wouldn't have whacked Fernando (crimes of passion aside, I guess). The gag is that, if that's the case, is she even a villana at that point? She's just a pretty, occasionally trashy, social-climbing Real Housewives of Orange County-wannabe perra who admittedly loves to read. Other than her getting Brian to deport Marcos and Luciana back in the day, she's literally done nothing anywhere near on the level of Graciela or Juan or even forking "I killed a man but everybody only remembers the grunge" Mark.
See, what little I know of ghosts, they are much smarter and more 'direct' than their aforelife counterparrts.
One solid ghost could out Dr.Evil, Grace, NoJuan, I mean the list just goes on.
And as they can travel instantly from solving one uh oh to another, they can accomplish a lot of good in a short time.
Man ! if ever there was a vineyard in need of a haunting......................
I care very much about Ramon. He has always loved Marta. It's one of those things that has me scratching my head, but hey, his life, his choice (if he were real of course :))
I wouldn't have minded him being with Marta at all if she only hadn't said she was "content".
Geez. There are nights a good book and popcorn make me "content"...hardly the heartfelt sentiment to build a life on together.

But truthfully I have had friends do the same thing, and talked till we were BOTH blue in the face to no avail. It is a shallow 'victory' years later to hear that I was right.
That said, (and apologize for sounding like a broken record), he loves her. No rhyme, reason, etc.
Agree Kirby. Ramon is an amazing father, supportive friend, and good looking to boot. I don't anyone disputes he could (and likely should) do better, but she is all he sees.
Bill, I keep hoping something might happen similar to what occurred with Susan and Cesar. He was in the friend zone. And then he wasn't. But, I still have my doubts.

Here's my advice to Marta: Always go for the nice guy. You will never regret that decision. I don't understand Marta all. I have seen both men and women pine (lust?) For someone they can't get . I think that Ramon should listen to my favorite Rita Coolidge song, the very torchy "Leave While I'm in Love." Sometimes it just feels so good to hurt so bad. After breaking up with someone when I was a teen, i would play the same sad song over and over again..driving my mother crazy. Maybe Ramon should leave while he is still in love and find someone who values him.
Since Cesar has Susan and his own life , he seems to be falling down on his job of monitoring and advising Dave on his every move . Thus, he dropped the ball on checking out Dr. Evil.
I think that Lilian is going to go absolutely BSC when she finds out about Grace Ricking Lisa. She will spill everything she knows. Does Lilian know that Grace asked Dr. Evil to drug Fer.
Also, to use an expression that my mother lived, I think that once Grace is cornered she will be "hoisted on her own petard." She will reveal all her evil doings INA fit of frustration as she sinks into insanity.
Marta was a young dummy of easy virtue, now she's just an old strumpet. I think she wants Gut not only for 'that' reason, but because her major turn-on in life is stickin' it to Lil.
Ghost Lisa (!Lisa) should visit Dave AND DisGravefiller just as Dave is about to fill her.
She should appear soaking wet with the rock in her hand, point at DG and just WAIL a long, blood-curdling wail. That'll cut that action off quick, fast, and in a hurry!
Yes, Ghostlisa showing up at that exact moment of liftoff would certainly cause a failure to launch..maybe forever. Heh, Dave.
Lots of times these ghosts reappear just as they went away, like you said, soaking wet with a big gash in her head and rickinhand. Yes rickinhand for you Sue. For everyone else rockinhand. :-)
DisGash. There are a LOT of nice G words which apply.
Oh, what shenanigans will tonight bring!
Cynthia, I think Ramon is pretty much ideal. Still, everything considered, I can't believe the writers would put Marta back with Brian, but heaven knows, I've been wrong in just about everything else so...
Diana
It seems there are so many great words which start with G.

I know I'll be spending the whole next TN in the office, but a hunderd an' sixty comments on a shit show?
Your "Dis.." Reminds me of our game in LA Tempestad." The galan's name was Damien , so we had a lot of Damfine, Damstrong, Damhandsome, Damright...endless Dams.
May I offer Disgruntled, Dissatisfied, Disenchanted, Displeased, Disappointed...

. . .
I think Ramon loves Marta for her maternal qualities. She had to have been the ongoing maternal figure for Tano when Ramon's wife left them. Tano turned out good -- as did Leon -- and the two boys are besties. Bobby is a good kid.
Marta is also probably a good cook. I have yet to meet a man who doesn't appreciate that.
We can't keep trying to fault Marta for her affair with Fernando, which was ages ago. I'm not sure she knew anything about Lillian's relationship with Brian before she dated him herself. But I don't think she will go back to him now that she knows that he deported Marcos and Luciana. Not even when she eventually finds out that Lillian was behind all that.
And she has to find out eventually. As someone said above, that is the biggest thing we know of that Lillian has to suffer for. That suffering will be David's ultimate rejection (followed by a definitive eviction) and finding out that DisGrace killed Lisa.
Sort of death, I can't imagine a worse punishment for any parent.
Same for Marta. She was ready to ditch her husband and kids father for a cad and she still has her eye on Brian. Ramon and Marcos are the kind of guys Marta uses as a placeholder and it doesn't take much to keep them because they adore her.
The old folks used to say, you may fall in the mud, but you don't have to wallow in it. Get up out of the mud and move on, Luci.
So Eugenio Derbez may be making the transition to American movies it seems.
It's true, none of this is what Luci thought she was coming back to the States for.
Eugenio Derbez was in a Disney movie a few years back. It was a bit role. The movie was about chihuahuas. He was running a pinata shop or something, but it was funny to see him.
All I can see is Victoria Ruffo when I look at Leon. His full moon face makes him look like her with a beard!
If that's correct, then I just have to ask: WHY are they airing two hours of THAT, but condensing two hours of Vino into one??
Didn't she go over to Spain to buy a couple of DisGoofy's Famous paintings and they just haven't revived her yet?
Instead of cutting the crap out of the final weeks, why don't they just make fewer episodes. Brilliant idea, right? They s t r e t c h and go round and round , but then, they take the scissors out at the end.
It could happen. Marta's gettin a make
Over ain't she? Stuff happens. There is One stuff I don't want to happen and that is davy hookin up with the blond redlipped succubus. I'll probably just change the channel and turn it back when they're finished. Yuck!!!
He will regain consciousness and turn his head all the way around like Linda Blair in the first Exorcist movie.
Sue how'd you do that?
I still want to know how NoJuan is going to get caught. As much as I do not like him, I admit he covers his tracks pretty well.
I think Juan will get caught by his own arrogance somehow. He thinks he's smarter than everyone else.
Either that or he'll try something with Carito, and Perla will rat him out.
