Papa a Toda Madre; Capiítulo 19, Friday, February 9, 2018; The Neighbors meet Rodrigo and Rafael, Renée’s new Tenants

We left off yesterday with Mauricio meeting Kika Braun at the toy expo, who seems to recognize him, but he doesn’t seem to know her. But she being very beautiful and sexy, of course wants to know her and can’t believe he cannot remember her. [Don’t fall for this Mauricio, it looks like a trap!] She introduces herself and says that she thought he might have recognized her from being online. “My name is Chiquinquirá Braun, but everyone calls me Kika. See this magazine? I found you in this magazine.” Mauricio says, “It sounds like destiny to me, since this is such a coincidence.” The magazine refers to Mauricio as #11 most sought after bachelor. Maur says, “Well I know I didn’t make the top 10, but at least I’m still in the ranking, right?”

Kika looks over at Mauricio’s display at the expo, and says, “Are those yours? Well I guess I’ll make the rounds here, but I’ll be right back.” Mauricio promises not to move

At Mauricio’s house, Renée has moved in to take care of Anifer and is busy making the house look like a home. She is busy painting, putting up blinds, and getting the house in order. At the end of the day, the house looks lovely.

Anifer asks Renée, “What are you going to do with your house? Are you going to sell it?” Renée replies that she has rented it out. There is a knock at the door and Renée says, “I wonder if my new tenants have arrived.”

At the neighborhood, Rodrigo arrives with his moving truck to unload his boxes and furniture to the home that Renée just rented to him. She comes and gives Rodrigo a welcoming hug. Rodrigo also hugs Anifer affectionately. Meanwhile, Veronica and Toño come out their front door to see what the excitement is about. “Must be our new neighbors,” says Veronica. Jorge comes out and introduces himself. Flor, also comes by with little Milady in her stroller to welcome Rodrigo. Since Rodrigo is a police detective, they all think that he is a nice addition to the neighborhood. Flor is surprised, but of course they have already met.

At the expo, Mauricio calls Fabian and tells him he met this blonde bombshell from Venezuela. Maur says, “Just to see her, it sure was worth coming here!” Fabian reminds him that he is there to sell and promote the toys, not to meet the love of his life. Maur tells Fabian that nobody seems to be interested in his company’s toys. He also tells Fabian how much he misses his yacht and Jacuzzi. “I wonder if Kika thinks I’m rich because she saw me in the magazine. If she only knew…”

Kika returns and Mauricio asks her why she is at this expo meant for the toy industry. Kika explains, “Well it’s like I told you earlier, I used to love Barbies and toys in general. “Oh so you are a collector?” says Mauricio. “Yes, I collect dolls and right now I’m looking for something new and different.”

At the tire shop, Flor expresses her caution to Nerón about Pablo, their illegal immigrant new hire because with a police officer in the neighborhood, this might not be for the best. Overhearing this, Pablo offers to leave. Nerón just says “No one is going to know that you are undocumented.”

Jorge comes to the shop to ask if they can check his tires because they seem a bit low. Nerón sends Pablo to check, but he keeps coming back with the wrong tool. Jorge starts to explain the real reason he stopped by, which was to ask of Flor and Nerón can watch his children while he goes to Los Angeles. Nerón says, “Since you said, Los Angeles, do you think you could find something out for me?”

In Miami, Mauricio walks into a restaurant where Kika is sitting. “And how do you know these cute little places here in Miami?” says Kika to Mauricio. “Oh I like to keep a low profile and try out the local places on the street. I like good food in simple places.” But he wants to know more about her. She explains how her blog has a lot of visitors and she gives a lot of advice on various things. Kika also asks, “How is it that you came into a relationship with the toy business?” Maur say, “Oh just so that you know, my relationship is not serious, I can go out with others.” She laughs at his silly joke. She wants to order a bottle of the best rum so that can continue getting to know each other. She excuses herself to the ladies room.

Over at Renée’s old place that Rodrigo has now moved into, she tells him that she hopes he will be comfortable there. Anifer innocently asks, “and who are you going to live with?” Rodrigo explains that his partner from Guadalajara will be arriving shortly. Anifer says she knows about Guadalajara because her mother told her there are lots of mariachis there.

At the restaurant, Mauricio takes a look at the bill and is shocked. His phone rings and it’s Renée to tell him Anifer would like to talk to him. He lovingly talks to her and tells Anifer it’s late and she’d better get to bed. He will see her when he gets back. Kika returns and seems to find his conversation amusing.

Jorge explains to his children that he is going to Los Angeles and will leave them there at the house, but the neighbors will be there to supervise them. He advises them to behave and be disciplined about their behavior. Flor and Nerón just look at each other, listening to this lecture. They both assure Jorge they will look after his children well and will do whatever necessary to make sure they have what they need. Flor wants souvenirs from Hollywood. Samuel seems to be all caught up in social media.

The next morning, Renée is hurrying to get Anifer to school on time. Jorge comes out his house and offers to give them a ride since they are all taking their kids to the same Catholic school.  Veronica and Toño come out ready to take their kids to school. Flor, wearing a robe walks Nerón outside and kisses him goodbye. A van pulls up in front of the homes. “I wonder who that is” says Nerón.” “Oh it’s probably Renée’s new tenant coming to move in”, says Flor. The neighbors are all wondering about this new tenant, whether he is a roommate or a relative. Rafael comes with a cute little dog, who goes to make friends with the children. The children are innocently enthralled with Rafa because of the dogs and seem to trust him. He explains that he is a veterinarian and that he also helps some animals find new homes. Flor looks on and it looks like Rafa struck a chord in her heart. The neighbor women seem to all think that Rafa is wonderful because he talks so nicely. Renée introduces him to everyone. Then Rodrigo comes out and they embrace. Next the two men kiss in front of everyone.

Jorge was shocked and ran to close the doors on his SUV to try to make sure his children weren’t exposed to seeing two men kissing. Nerón is shocked too. Then Rodrigo turns around, as he holds hands with Rafa and presents him as his husband. Renée congratulates the two men on their matrimony and hopes they will be very happy. Rafa goes back to the children, as he has already gained their trust, and promises to come back to make sure that they have a chance to play with his little dogs. The two men go inside the house.

Jorge is livid and wants to know why she rented to this type of people (gay men). He feels this will be a bad influence on the children. He also would like to have had some kind of warning about what was going to happen so that he could be prepared. Renée becomes perturbed and says, “When you say this type of people, are you referring to gays? Yes, I already knew. So what is the problem?” Jorge says the problem is that they are GAYS. So Renée tells him, “Well then that is your problem, not mine.” She goes on to say minimizing Jorge’s concerns, “So would you have wanted to know if they were left handed or what zodiac sign they were born under?” At this point, Nerón starts complaining and saying, “So now the result is we have to live here with them?” Then Flor scolds him telling him he shouldn’t say such things.

Renée looks at Nerón and says, “You too, Godfather?” Renée gets very angry and starts calling him homophobic after telling him he should not judge people based on the sexuality they practice. “The important thing is that they are nice people.” Veronica and Toño just sort of say, “Well to each his own, right?” Jorge, who is very concerned with his faith and religion, then says, “Well let’s bring God into this situation. In the end they are GAY and they can be a bad influence on my children.” Renée continues to get angry and asks him to be respectful of her tenants and tells him he needs to change and not be homophobic.

Inside the house, the Rafa and Rodrigo talk as they noticed the adults had reacted. “Nerón and Jorge the lawyer were both looking at us with bullets coming from their eyes.” Rafa says, “My love, I’m not going to be hiding or pretending to satisfy anyone. Aren’t you in agreement?” Rodrigo agrees and they decide to have some coffee.

Outside, Jorge and Renée continue to argue about her attack on him calling him homophobic. Renée tells him that anyone who doesn’t accept gays has homophobia! “It’s called homophobia here and in China.” Jorge says he doesn’t care what they call it in China, but here, it’s a SIN! It looks like Flor is just shocked to hear about sin. Renée continues her scolding, “Not that you ever preached the love of God, but fine, then demonstrate it.” Jorge tries to make her understand, “Look, this is a new situation, where there are two gay men and these are my children. They could become mixed up over this, so I need to stay on guard.” Nerón says that they may have a lot of bad intentions. Then Flor scolds Nerón again and they all continue to argue outside. Renée is very disappointed in Nerón and can’t believe he is so prejudiced. Veronica agrees and decides they all need to stop arguing and go on their way. As Nerón leaves, he tells Jorge he is in full agreement with his opinion. Renée continues to call Jorge homophobic because he does not agree with that lifestyle. Then she refuses his ride to the school because she is so angry with him after he still offered her a ride.

In the car, Jorge explains to his children about traditional family values. He goes on about having a natural family is to have a mother, father, and children. Before the children get out of the car, he gives them both a blessing and says, “God bless you.”

Veronica and Toño’s children asked why Jorge was so angry and if he didn’t like the new neighbors. Veronica very simply explained that it was his business, but all they needed to do for now is not worry about it and just be polite to the new neighbors, just like you would be to anyone else. The children said they liked them fine and loved the dogs. The children kiss her goodbye. After they get out, she tells Toño that she is so glad the children aren’t prejudiced. She mentions something about getting another car, he says maybe so now that she is making big money. She doesn’t want to argue, but why does he stay at a job he hates?

As Renée walks Anifer to school, Anifer asks, “Does Jorge not like the new neighbors because they are not a family of a father, mother, and children?” Renée explains that there are a lot of people who do not like different kinds of families like Rodri and Rafa. “But that doesn’t matter as long as they love each other like family, right?” Anifer says, “My mom always said the same thing.” As they talk Anifer says that her mother taught her that it’s not just only two men or two women, it could be a mother with a child or a father with a child, just like her and Mauricio, her father. Renée remarks that it was so nice her mother was like that, in the past tense. Anifer notices and asks why she speaks of her mother in the past tense. Renée has to explain and apologize since Ani believes her mother to be alive.

In Miami the next morning, the expo continues, but no one seems to be interested in Mauricio’s Logatoy collection. Kika approaches him with her lawyer and would like to invest in his toy company. She is a very successful business woman and wants to talk numbers. They go over to her office, which is very nicely decorated. She promises that she has some trips to make but she will be in touch with him. Her lawyer offers to take him back to his hotel.

In class, Anifer is yawning. The nun/teacher asks her what they are talking about but she is listening. The nun/teacher is explaining biology where the hen and the rooster have to come together to make chicks. Then she says it’s kind of like a human family where you have a mother, father and children. Anifer pipes up and says, “But not all families are the same.” The teacher says, “Really, which ones are different?” Anifer tells the teacher/nun that some families are mother and child, or father and child. And some families have two mothers with children or two fathers with children. (This from the child who just designed the mama/papa dolls). The nun tells her, “I think you better stop watching so much TV. But for your information, those are not families. Families are a mother, father, and children. Class, please don’t pay attention to what Anifer just said.” The teacher says she is going to report this to her parents, but Anifer says “My father lets me ask whatever I want.”

At the Miami toy expo, no one is interested in Mauricio’s toy display. One little boy comes up and likes the mama/papa pair, but his mother says, “Wouldn’t you like something else? Your father would have a heart attack if you brought that to the house.” Disappointed, Mauricio decides to return home. He gets home and is so happy to see his daughter. He loves what Renée did to the house.

Next day at the office, Mauricio talk about what happened at the expo. Fabian says Falcon is going to be mad about the expense and nothing coming from it.

Renée talks to her advisor about her project on the phone. She pulls out a blueprint of some kind of robotic toy.

Kika arrives at Logatoys and tells Gladys she wants to see Mauricio. Gladys finally calls Mauricio on the phone and announces Kika Braun at the door.

Falcon meet with this mystery man. (Help me out here, he looks familiar, but cannot say for sure who he is.)

Can't help you out Cynthia. Haven't seen this yet. But loved the recap and the screen shots. Thanks so much. Sounds like it was a bombshell of an episode. How wonderful to be able to paint and redecorate a home in just one day! Sure love telenovela-time and its various miracles of transformation.

Hope your mother is doing well in her recovery and that you are catching up on your sleep after a busy week of work, recapping and family concerns.

Jarifa, are you buried under 10 inches of snow? Sounds like Chicago really got a lot this time.

Thank you, Cynthia. The recap is wonderful. Great screen shots!

No wonder Jorge likes that particular religious school. Again, I felt sorry for Anifer. They need to find her a different school.

What will Rodrigo and Rafael have to do to win Jorge and Nerón over? Great idea for Rafael to be a vet and arriving with plenty of puppies to adopt.

I was surprised that Jorge, after all of the problems he has had with them, is leaving his kids basically alone “under neighborhood supervision” while he goes to L.A.

Kika just makes me laugh even though she is probably up to no good.

Yes, the mystery man! I don’t recognize him from anywhere.

O/T: New snow this a.m. Looks like we are up a little over 10” since this started early yesterday. It can stop now but won’t until tomorrow afternoon. Did I actually say we had had an easy winter just last week?

JudyB, looks like our comments crossed. With the almost constant snow fall and cold temps, the roads are a mess, too.

Good Morning!

Cynthia, what a wonderful and entertaining recap! The screenshots were just as amazing as ever!

The man Falcon met with is Juan Perez who told Mau that Maria is dead.

Kika is suspicious as you noted...too much too quick.

Luurrved seeing Mau with Anifer...he’s fallen hard for her and she well deserves it.

Jorge’s and Neron’s reaction to Rafael and Rodrigo was to be expected. I was waiting for Toni to chime in but he held his tongue...it was probably asleep!

More laters...

That’s Tono, not Toni :-)

Thank you, for identifying the mystery man, RgvChick! They seemed to linger on him a little too long and know we know why.

Jarifa, hope you can stay inside today with some cups of hot tea, a fire in the fireplace and a good book. I like shoveling snow but not when it's 10 inches. Three inches is about my limit to enjoy.

ITA . Thanks, JudyB!

And while I'm thinking about it, hope Diana didn't slip on her frozen coffee spill after work yesterday. This Winter, between the snow and the flu epidemic, is shaping up to be a Scarefest. Off to grocery now before it gets crowded.

Cynthia: I knew I had recognized that person from "Vino El Amor".

Thanks bunches Cynthia. Of course Jorge is not going to LA and can not bring any souveniers back, because he is going to visit sick Lady.

Best part: Mauricio eating up Ms Anifer when he got home. It even outshined the ample assets of the Amazon KiKa U in Da Man Parts.

"Juan Perez who told Mau that Maria is dead." Oh Boy. Thanks RGV

You know, society has been shoving this gay message down my throat for what? thirty years now? And it doesn't really bother me, but I will never want to join in. Just tired of hearing about it. They will be harping about letting women vote before long.

I am sure it is just me, but anybody who has ever picked up a roller knows newspaper does not cut it. A thousand sheets of newspaper still will not work as well as a $2 plastic drop cloth from Home Depot.

Not to be a Doubting Thomas, with Renee's skills, but where in all creation did all that stuff go? Last time we saw Ani and Mau at home it still looked like a warehouse. If she doesn't get another TN soon after this, I have a Summer job for her: Warehouseman/Bow ornament.

I have to admit I'm leaning more toward the gay guys than to the Nuns though. We've had a few Baaaad Nuns so far. Nuns and None-Nuns.

Thanks Cynthia!!

Kirby, too funny this morning. Ani's teacher nun is scaring me!

So Juan and Falcone are working together. Wow what is this all about and how does Ani play in?

This show reminds a bit of Modern Family. We have the family with the crazy dad and 3 kids, the gay couple, and the old man with young wife. Idk where Jorge, Renee, and Mau fit in.

I finally realize where I recognize Dulce from. She looks like that Matchmaker Patty something from tv. I think they look alike, same hair and shape of face.

Thanks, Cynthia. Loved the recap and pics.

Veronica and Toño just sort of say, “Well to each his own, right?”

Yay, finally a plus for Toño. He’s either not homophobic, or not dumb enough to argue with Renee and the ladies about it. Either way, I'm impressed with him and his and Veronica's kids here.

He goes on about having a natural family is to have a mother, father, and children.

Jorge, you mean “a mother, father, and children” and a secret other mother and children?

Rafael was Tom, the wife and gay stepson beater in La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo. He got rid of the bleached hair and grunge look.

Jarifa, Diana, everyone dealing with snow and frigid cold, take care and stay safe.

I only have one problem with this new storyline. You don't change anybody's mind by yelling at them. Or preaching in a self righteous manner. Neron will change his mind probably after he gets to know them both and likes them as individuals. Jorge will change his mind if his own son Sammy turns out to be gay. And that's the best case scenario. There are still families who shun their own children for being born with a different sexual orientation. And I will say up front that I am not okay with pedophiles, even though I suppose they are born that way also. Not okay with pedophiles and not okay with child porn. But fine with gay couples who are committed and caring.

I finally recognized Tono and Veros older son he played son of the guy who is Andes Becker in CET when he and MaIte were in Lichita.

I couldn't get a clearer screen shot, but did anyone notice this in Kika's office ->->->->

Good afternoon, everybody! Cynthia, thank you so much for this fine and fun recap.

Wow! Lots and lots of good "stuff" in this chapter/episode. Fabian has been searching all over for Juan Perez with no success. He should have just asked Falcon.

Our gay couple, Rodrigo and Rafael, are another nice touch. And I think it's only realistic (What? realism in a TN?) that not everybody would be immediately enthusiastic. But soon enough the guys will be hanging out together complaining that "my wife doesn't understand me", with a very occasional "my husband doesn't understand me."

Have Televisa/Univision had a falling out with the Church? Uptight, doctrinaire priest (and Jorge), nasty nun, etc.

All fun!

Wow, eagle-eyed Rgv Chick! I did not notice that!

And some people think TNs are as dumb as American soap operas!

I saw some picture and thought at the time it was her and her Dad, but the second time it looked to be her attorney. Maybe that is the one I saw and didn't see the third person.

Who is it?

Cynthia, Cynthia, Cynthia. I forgot to mention your comment re Mau and Kika, "[Don’t fall for this Mauricio, it looks like a trap!]"

This was so funny because you had described Kika as "being very beautiful and sexy". She could have had "This is a trap, Mau!" tattooed across her forehead, and it wouldn't have made a difference.

:-)

?

Take a close look, Kirby; the hair is a give-a-way...high American political figure...

Don't misunderstand me about R&R, I could care less. But the entertainment industry preaching to me about morality is like having the mob come talk to your Home Room about gun control.
I'm fine with the message, the wrong delivery channel was chosen for me.

Oh sheezo ai see that blonde comb over now. Thanks

Rgv Chick, what eagle eyes you have! I saw the picture but was clueless until now.

Kirby, nice eagle pic! Are they wondering where you are? They must have heard you but can't see you :-)

Thanks. Oh, they were less than concerned about me. It was lunch time and they were tearing into some suhshi.

Cynthia, thank you so much the excellent recap . I especially appreciate it because I was at a concert last night and forgot to record the show.

Wow...I missed a lot of good scenes.

Renee should have her own series on HGTV.

Chickie...where did you find that photo??

Andy..I think you are right about a turn against religion happening in the telenovelas who usually had a wise, kindly priest to counsel the characters and a spiritual message. The church was central to the story and a key part of the characters lives. The world is changing and telenovelas are changing. It seems that movies and TV shows Are shying away from the religious and the spiritual. The hero of the Outlander book series is a very religious, spiritual man, but the TV series has chosen not to depict this part of him which is a shame.

Most people have become more accepting of gay people . I have two cousins who came out as lesbians when they were in their 30s. My family always referred to them as "tomboys" when we were growing up. One looks a lot like me , and I was very close to the other growing up and spent a lot of time together . She married , had a child with severe health issues, and then divorced. Both have partners now. Our family reunions are diverse...adopted Korean children , mixed race children...quite a melting pot!! My older daughter has close fiends who are a gay couple . They both call me Mom. They made Mother's Day dinner for all of us one year. They make a mean mojito. My best friend Carol and I dance with them at all the weddings , parties, and cruises. It took Hubba a !ittle while to accept this new world, but he has me!lowed. Most people just want to be happy. Live and let live.

Happy weekend ,all . Back to chores for me.

SusanLynn. exactly. Because it is none of my business. I just am tired of being preached to. I always saw it as a secret blessing when there were a lot of guys who look like Rulli or HotCop who I didn't have to compete with.

"Huh, you don't like girls? Whew !"

Kirby, good point!

:-)

Neron should be happy those two guys are gay bec he is so jealous. I mean these two are super hot and young. Flor was already admiring Rodrigo.

Kirby..and girls think "ahhh gee , que lastima!"

Carvivle...good point about Neron being relieved. I wonder when we will see a bisexual character in a tn...then , any relationship with any other character is possible. #gamechanger #whoswithwhom

I'm wondering where sick lady lives? Have they said where? Could it be that she really does live in California?

Andy, "Fabian has been searching all over for Juan Perez with no success. He should have just asked Falcon." I was pleasantly surprised that Mau actually wants to follow up on his flashing moment of suspicion, but if Fabian is the backstabber we think he is, he sure is the wrong guy to be searching for this Perez guy. So we know that Mau suspects that Perez was a waiter at the party where Mau met Maria; and we know that Perez led Mau to the burned down building where Maria supposedly died. This raise so many questions! How long has this plot against Mau been in the works? If this Perez guy is an imposter, who is he working for...and is Maria really dead????

Susy, that photo was displayed in the scene where Mau goes to visit Kika at her office in Miami.

Carvivlie, "Neron should be happy those two guys are gay bec he is so jealous. I mean these two are super hot and young. Flor was already admiring Rodrigo." So true, but Neron is old school so he'll have a hard time accepting the handsome couple.

Kirby, ITA with your comment about entertainment preaching morality. I want entertainment, not sermons.

Kirby..and girls think "ahhh gee , que lastima!"

Carvivle...good point about Neron being relieved. I wonder when we will see a bisexual character in a tn...then , any relationship with any other character is possible. #gamechanger #whoswithwhom

Susy, I usually think, "Ah gee, what a waste of a man!"

Disclaimer: No disrespect to the male gender intended.

Whoops.sorry for the double post...hurrying between chores ..and careless.

It seems that actors are much more comfortable about portraying gay characters .

Chickie..do you think that photo is photo shopped? And have you been watching the Hallmark Valentine movies? They are like watching Gidget and Moondoggie ! A pleasant relief from the news .

Susy, I couldn't get a clear screenshot because the photo was so fuzzy..so it could very well be photo-shopped.

Now Susy, that WOULD be cool. 'It' could be messing around with someone, and then the someone would find out that their luuuuurver is hopping their spouse too. WOW ! What a dynomite idea.

They could build a whole TN around a couple of switch hitters.

Kirby...yeah, the plot lines would get very complicated with endless combinations. I have so many good ideas. It is a miracle my head hasn't exploded. #thinkingtoomuch I think that they need to go back to kind, wise priests and a happily married mature couple. However, that ship seems to have sailed beyond the horizon.

Um...Not to start anything, but my Eagles are 1---Male, 1---Female

Although I do like your #gamechanger though.
All these years they should have let your ideas bloom rather than detention hall.

And if my suspicions are right about String Bean Jorge, he ha no biddnet preachin to nobody noway.

I thought those kids in Pigtails pic resembled him

Papa has a mouthfull of fish.

Kirby....Doritos are on sale at CVS this week. I am not sure if that includes the Lady Doritos (Loritas???) . I thought that thou would want to know....stock up.

For sure. I'll get about half and half Doritos and Loritos. You meet the nicest people over a bag of Doritos.
:-)

RgvChick, thank you for noticing the interesting photo. You are the one with the “eagle eye”. ; )

"Ayi yai yai, finally. Here comes Mom with a McDonalds bag. Fish and fries here I come. Hold the fries."

I wonder when we will see a bisexual character in a tn

Susanlynn - In Sortilegio, Julian Gil's playboy character was having a torrid affair with Marcelo Cordoba's married character while also merrily enjoying getting it on with chicks.

Good morning all. Good morning beautiful eagle.

Cynthia, this was a delight. Your recap was excellent! The screen shots added so much. A joy from start to finish.

It's notable that Anifer has far better instincts about people than Mau.

I really want to root for Jorge, but he is so stern and joyless. Kirby, as you noted he has "biddnet preachin to nobody". Trying to "shield" his children from seeing a loving couple was sad. Disappointed in Neron, but I'm sure as you noted Judy, he will come around. As far as the new neighbors? If I had a vet AND a policeman moving into my neighborhood, I'd be dancing for joy. I wouldn't be spewing anything except genuinely and happily welcoming them to the neighborhood! Folks don't know how good they have it sometimes do they?

Niecie, I forgot about Gil in Sortilegio. Thank you! Do I miss Carla Estrada...

Jarifa, I didn't think Jorge and Neron were that tight that he would ask them to babysit overnight. That's a lot to ask with a new baby. Somehow, I don't think Flor will let them get away with anything! Hope you and everyone dealing with snow are warm and dry. Unbelievably, it's raining here...Judy put it perfectly "This Winter, between the snow and the flu epidemic, is shaping up to be a Scarefest". Amen.

RgvChick, loved the photo (photoshop?). What an incredible eye you have.

Susanlynn, "Loritos". Hee, hee.

I enjoyed every single comment.

I hope that your mother continues to improve Cynthia. It was a real treat to read your recap today.

Diana

As far as Large N' Incharge Jarge, it just seems in humans, the one obsessed with imposing THEIR rules and morals on others are the ones who are breaking those same rules.

As in where one partner in a relationship is insanely jealous and suspicious of the other without reason. The answer, is that they think their partner is a cheater like them.

Niecie.....bingo..I forgot all about that character. That guy was hitting everything that stay still long enough.

So what is the deal with Kika ? Is she really just a bored rich girl , or is she part of the mysterious evil girl.

Diana, I hope that your hubby is on the road to recovery.

Fun fact : On the Outlander forum, people from many different countries comment. I found out that in Australia, they refer to hot guys as "totties." In England, the term is used for hot girls. Also, in England, giving people advice is referred to as telling them to "pull up your socks."

No...part of the mysterious evil conspiracy. ( Trying yo multitask)

Thanks to all the recappers, all your hard work is greatly appreciated!

Kirby, since you brought it up, there is an eagle's nest on the Mississippi with two males and one female. It's a long story with evolving participants, but it works.

L Linda

L Linda...Sounds like an eagle telenovela in the making !!!!

A workaround for the Whoops, it seems, is to change your bookmark for caray to the old HTTP instead of the newer, recently mandated super secure HTTPS.

IE:
http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/ does not give me a whoops

while :
https://caraycaray.blogspot.com/ does it every time on the first instance

Something recently happened on the internet concerning a plan to obsolete the Non 'S' traffic, and I suspect it has not rippled through all of blogger yet.

L Linda, if there are no pictures it didn't happen. :-)

Hello Patio peeps - I've been so busy that I haven't even had time to read the recaps, so I am thanking Alfredo and Cynthia in advance of reading them. THANK YOU!!!
I'll just have to forget watching these episodes. No time! This week is not much better.

Friday, I took our dog to the vet practice of specialists (can't get in without referral) for a stubborn UTI. While there, they listened to her heart and heard heart murmur/mitral valve disease. Our regular vet did not detect it last summer at her annual physical, but this breed (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) is very prone to it, and it can advance quickly. I think that's what happened. Not there eight or nine months ago but developed after her physical. I knew about the breed's high risk of MVD/congestive heart failure before I bought her as a puppy, so it was never a matter of "if" but "when." She is nine years old, and I'm pleased she made it this long before it developed. There are a lot worse things for which this breed is at risk (Syringomyelia, Chiari malformations, to name the worst). We'll get the echo-cardiograph reading this week (2-hr wait to get that done!) and know which stage she is at. But it's difficult accept that our sweet little dog's heart finally is giving out. ~sobs~

Plus .... Olympics. I'm a winter olympics junkie. (Not so much summer olympics) OMG, no time for both that and telenovelas! And a hockey game this week. I will try to stay current by reading your generous recaps and comments.

Kirby, there is even a nest cam! ( Poor things - no privacy !) They film everything. Google "trio bald eagles" , I'm pretty sure it's in Illinois.

Doris, so sorry to hear about the alarming diagnosis of your dear pet. Even though we know it's not "if" but "when", our heart still breaks when we get news like that. The grief is terrible, and we already start grieving as we see them change and weaken.

Sending you loving thoughts during this time, and glad that you can distract yourself by enjoying the Winter Olympics. I remember, years ago, someone commenting that the humor and drama of the telenovelas helped her deal with the death of her daughter. Help and relief sometimes comes from very unexpected places.

During a very dark time in my marriage, I watched re-runs of Friends every night. And ate myself silly. Whatever works. But hopefully your beloved dog will get effective treatment and live happily for a long time.

((((Doris))) so sorry to hear about your pup. Our pets become parts of our families.

I am not a fan of the OLympucs , but my mother watched them like it was her job.

Judy...yes, we all need an escape from reality when life becomes too real. Right now,the winter is harshing my vibe , so I have been watching reruns of "The OFfice" in between closer cleaning sessions.

IMG. Just read about the trio. This is the second female these two males have shared. The first Ho got in a knife fight with another stripper two years ago and was killed. This new one, named Ho.. pe mates with both males who both assist in nesting and parenting.

doris, we love our fur children. Unconditionally. I know for some, such as myself, they are as near and dear to us as any in our family.

I hope you are able to have your girl with you for much longer and that you are able to make more memories together. She is fortunate to have such a kind and caring mother. Of course you are worried and likely afraid. But, you are not alone. You have much support here on Caray. Please keep us posted as to how she is doing. We are rooting for both of you.

So Kirby, maybe Jorge will come around? Looks like people can see new things even when it doesn't fit into their realm.

Doris, I tell my golden she will live forever every day . She just had her 13th bday. She isn't allowed to go anywhere. Maybe she is listening to me.

Kirby...so you are telling us that eagles do not mate for life.

Well, the story of the three LLinda clued us into, shows that for the first female iit was for life, she got killed fuighting another female eagle.

And for the males, although 'mated for life' doesn't generally conjure images of groups, I suppose it could be for life for BOTH of them.

Pressing on...I know what you mean about the winter Olys. Some of it is OK, but that lay-down sled thing. The Luge or something, is as much fun as watching aunt Martha on her three wheeler.

NOTHING like snowmobile races.

Jeezo it looks cold there. I know it involves snow skiing and all, but sheemany.

Oh and another one right out of the broom closet, curling. Curling being taken from the Norweigen word Koerlung meaning Boring.

Diana, the snow finally ended late this morning. We could be getting rain later this week. Go figure!

doris, so sorry to hear about your puppy. I hope you get some better news this week.

Kirby, as for the Olympics, there’s is always curling for some real excitement! LOL

Wow it is amazing how quick the skaters pop back up after busting their ass. God if I fell I'd just curl up in a ball and skid over to the edge and pretend it killed me until nobody was looking.

LLinda. I have a sneaky feeling Jorge will come around one way or another. A mouth full of crow sure changes your song sometimes.

Susy, I am very suspicious of Kika. I think she is part of the plot...why else would she invest in a business that she knows nothing about (as her lawyer pointed out) and that is not doing well. She didn't even think twice about investing; so that was too quick.

Doris, I can certainly understand how worried you must be about your doggie....they are part of the family and are loved so much. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your doggie. Hope the specialist gives you better news after the echo-card reading.

Kirby, "God if I fell I'd just curl up in a ball and skid over to the edge and pretend it killed me until nobody was looking." You had me laughing out loud....thanks!

Doris, Sorry about your dog's illness. Our pets are family. Their resilience in dealing with whatever they've got to deal with is inspiring. Hoping for the best diagnosis. Please keep us posted.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments about Sophie. Yes, I've begun a little bit of grieving but won't get stuck there because there should be a few more good years left. I hope. I agree, our pets are family. Our last dog died (old age) six weeks after our son got married (only child) and that was just too much to bear. I did not want another dog but I needed one, and that's how Sophie became a member of our family.

JudyB- I'm with you in the comfort stuff! When our son was going thru his divorce almost three years ago (yep, same son) I only listened to Enya in my car and reread all the rom-com books of my favorite authors.

I made time to read the past recaps and am caught up. Yay!!! And it was a good day at the olympics, courtesy of our DVR. We record and FFWD--> thru the commercials and stuff we don't care about. Saw amazing comeback-to-Win cross country skiing, the snowboard and luge gold winning runs and all the ice dancing and figure skating. 🎿⛷🏂⛸ Yayyy!

Oh, and olympics curling? I was totally addicted to it eight years ago. It's true! LOL Awesome drama. Coverage in subsequent olympics is not so good.

Doris, yes,we all need comfort/escape at times...disease, divorce, death. I listen to music all the time, but Enya makes me cry. I need something upbeat especially when I am down..!ike Bruno Mars. When our black lab died , I had to call my older daughter to tell her after her sister said that she would tell her, but then, broke down crying. It is especially hard when more than one sad event happens at the same time.

OT- there’s a TN starting on Unimas at 10 am. It’s called “Marido en Alquiler.” Anyone seen it? Any thoughts?

Don't know anything about it Rgv Chick, but I love the title! "Try before you buy"!

Advice to us bachelor dogs?

You wouldn't want to find out on your wedding night she didn't know how to cook.

Kirby...the PA. Dutch have a lot of wise sayings. One of my favorites is " KIssing don't last, cooking do. " ..but I don't think that it is true, and...I hate to cook .
