Papa a Toda Madre; Capiítulo 19, Friday, February 9, 2018; The Neighbors meet Rodrigo and Rafael, Renée’s new Tenants
Labels: papa
Hope your mother is doing well in her recovery and that you are catching up on your sleep after a busy week of work, recapping and family concerns.
Jarifa, are you buried under 10 inches of snow? Sounds like Chicago really got a lot this time.
No wonder Jorge likes that particular religious school. Again, I felt sorry for Anifer. They need to find her a different school.
What will Rodrigo and Rafael have to do to win Jorge and Nerón over? Great idea for Rafael to be a vet and arriving with plenty of puppies to adopt.
I was surprised that Jorge, after all of the problems he has had with them, is leaving his kids basically alone “under neighborhood supervision” while he goes to L.A.
Kika just makes me laugh even though she is probably up to no good.
Yes, the mystery man! I don’t recognize him from anywhere.
O/T: New snow this a.m. Looks like we are up a little over 10” since this started early yesterday. It can stop now but won’t until tomorrow afternoon. Did I actually say we had had an easy winter just last week?
Cynthia, what a wonderful and entertaining recap! The screenshots were just as amazing as ever!
The man Falcon met with is Juan Perez who told Mau that Maria is dead.
Kika is suspicious as you noted...too much too quick.
Luurrved seeing Mau with Anifer...he’s fallen hard for her and she well deserves it.
Jorge’s and Neron’s reaction to Rafael and Rodrigo was to be expected. I was waiting for Toni to chime in but he held his tongue...it was probably asleep!
More laters...
Best part: Mauricio eating up Ms Anifer when he got home. It even outshined the ample assets of the Amazon KiKa U in Da Man Parts.
"Juan Perez who told Mau that Maria is dead." Oh Boy. Thanks RGV
You know, society has been shoving this gay message down my throat for what? thirty years now? And it doesn't really bother me, but I will never want to join in. Just tired of hearing about it. They will be harping about letting women vote before long.
I am sure it is just me, but anybody who has ever picked up a roller knows newspaper does not cut it. A thousand sheets of newspaper still will not work as well as a $2 plastic drop cloth from Home Depot.
Not to be a Doubting Thomas, with Renee's skills, but where in all creation did all that stuff go? Last time we saw Ani and Mau at home it still looked like a warehouse. If she doesn't get another TN soon after this, I have a Summer job for her: Warehouseman/Bow ornament.
I have to admit I'm leaning more toward the gay guys than to the Nuns though. We've had a few Baaaad Nuns so far. Nuns and None-Nuns.
Kirby, too funny this morning. Ani's teacher nun is scaring me!
So Juan and Falcone are working together. Wow what is this all about and how does Ani play in?
This show reminds a bit of Modern Family. We have the family with the crazy dad and 3 kids, the gay couple, and the old man with young wife. Idk where Jorge, Renee, and Mau fit in.
I finally realize where I recognize Dulce from. She looks like that Matchmaker Patty something from tv. I think they look alike, same hair and shape of face.
Veronica and Toño just sort of say, “Well to each his own, right?”
Yay, finally a plus for Toño. He’s either not homophobic, or not dumb enough to argue with Renee and the ladies about it. Either way, I'm impressed with him and his and Veronica's kids here.
He goes on about having a natural family is to have a mother, father, and children.
Jorge, you mean “a mother, father, and children” and a secret other mother and children?
Rafael was Tom, the wife and gay stepson beater in La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo. He got rid of the bleached hair and grunge look.
Jarifa, Diana, everyone dealing with snow and frigid cold, take care and stay safe.
Wow! Lots and lots of good "stuff" in this chapter/episode. Fabian has been searching all over for Juan Perez with no success. He should have just asked Falcon.
Our gay couple, Rodrigo and Rafael, are another nice touch. And I think it's only realistic (What? realism in a TN?) that not everybody would be immediately enthusiastic. But soon enough the guys will be hanging out together complaining that "my wife doesn't understand me", with a very occasional "my husband doesn't understand me."
Have Televisa/Univision had a falling out with the Church? Uptight, doctrinaire priest (and Jorge), nasty nun, etc.
All fun!
And some people think TNs are as dumb as American soap operas!
Who is it?
This was so funny because you had described Kika as "being very beautiful and sexy". She could have had "This is a trap, Mau!" tattooed across her forehead, and it wouldn't have made a difference.
:-)
I'm fine with the message, the wrong delivery channel was chosen for me.
Wow...I missed a lot of good scenes.
Renee should have her own series on HGTV.
Chickie...where did you find that photo??
Andy..I think you are right about a turn against religion happening in the telenovelas who usually had a wise, kindly priest to counsel the characters and a spiritual message. The church was central to the story and a key part of the characters lives. The world is changing and telenovelas are changing. It seems that movies and TV shows Are shying away from the religious and the spiritual. The hero of the Outlander book series is a very religious, spiritual man, but the TV series has chosen not to depict this part of him which is a shame.
Most people have become more accepting of gay people . I have two cousins who came out as lesbians when they were in their 30s. My family always referred to them as "tomboys" when we were growing up. One looks a lot like me , and I was very close to the other growing up and spent a lot of time together . She married , had a child with severe health issues, and then divorced. Both have partners now. Our family reunions are diverse...adopted Korean children , mixed race children...quite a melting pot!! My older daughter has close fiends who are a gay couple . They both call me Mom. They made Mother's Day dinner for all of us one year. They make a mean mojito. My best friend Carol and I dance with them at all the weddings , parties, and cruises. It took Hubba a !ittle while to accept this new world, but he has me!lowed. Most people just want to be happy. Live and let live.
Happy weekend ,all . Back to chores for me.
"Huh, you don't like girls? Whew !"
Carvivle...good point about Neron being relieved. I wonder when we will see a bisexual character in a tn...then , any relationship with any other character is possible. #gamechanger #whoswithwhom
Andy, "Fabian has been searching all over for Juan Perez with no success. He should have just asked Falcon." I was pleasantly surprised that Mau actually wants to follow up on his flashing moment of suspicion, but if Fabian is the backstabber we think he is, he sure is the wrong guy to be searching for this Perez guy. So we know that Mau suspects that Perez was a waiter at the party where Mau met Maria; and we know that Perez led Mau to the burned down building where Maria supposedly died. This raise so many questions! How long has this plot against Mau been in the works? If this Perez guy is an imposter, who is he working for...and is Maria really dead????
Susy, that photo was displayed in the scene where Mau goes to visit Kika at her office in Miami.
Carvivlie, "Neron should be happy those two guys are gay bec he is so jealous. I mean these two are super hot and young. Flor was already admiring Rodrigo." So true, but Neron is old school so he'll have a hard time accepting the handsome couple.
Kirby, ITA with your comment about entertainment preaching morality. I want entertainment, not sermons.
Carvivle...good point about Neron being relieved. I wonder when we will see a bisexual character in a tn...then , any relationship with any other character is possible. #gamechanger #whoswithwhom
Disclaimer: No disrespect to the male gender intended.
It seems that actors are much more comfortable about portraying gay characters .
They could build a whole TN around a couple of switch hitters.
Although I do like your #gamechanger though.
All these years they should have let your ideas bloom rather than detention hall.
I thought those kids in Pigtails pic resembled him
:-)
Susanlynn - In Sortilegio, Julian Gil's playboy character was having a torrid affair with Marcelo Cordoba's married character while also merrily enjoying getting it on with chicks.
Cynthia, this was a delight. Your recap was excellent! The screen shots added so much. A joy from start to finish.
It's notable that Anifer has far better instincts about people than Mau.
I really want to root for Jorge, but he is so stern and joyless. Kirby, as you noted he has "biddnet preachin to nobody". Trying to "shield" his children from seeing a loving couple was sad. Disappointed in Neron, but I'm sure as you noted Judy, he will come around. As far as the new neighbors? If I had a vet AND a policeman moving into my neighborhood, I'd be dancing for joy. I wouldn't be spewing anything except genuinely and happily welcoming them to the neighborhood! Folks don't know how good they have it sometimes do they?
Niecie, I forgot about Gil in Sortilegio. Thank you! Do I miss Carla Estrada...
Jarifa, I didn't think Jorge and Neron were that tight that he would ask them to babysit overnight. That's a lot to ask with a new baby. Somehow, I don't think Flor will let them get away with anything! Hope you and everyone dealing with snow are warm and dry. Unbelievably, it's raining here...Judy put it perfectly "This Winter, between the snow and the flu epidemic, is shaping up to be a Scarefest". Amen.
RgvChick, loved the photo (photoshop?). What an incredible eye you have.
Susanlynn, "Loritos". Hee, hee.
I enjoyed every single comment.
I hope that your mother continues to improve Cynthia. It was a real treat to read your recap today.
Diana
As in where one partner in a relationship is insanely jealous and suspicious of the other without reason. The answer, is that they think their partner is a cheater like them.
So what is the deal with Kika ? Is she really just a bored rich girl , or is she part of the mysterious evil girl.
Diana, I hope that your hubby is on the road to recovery.
Fun fact : On the Outlander forum, people from many different countries comment. I found out that in Australia, they refer to hot guys as "totties." In England, the term is used for hot girls. Also, in England, giving people advice is referred to as telling them to "pull up your socks."
Kirby, since you brought it up, there is an eagle's nest on the Mississippi with two males and one female. It's a long story with evolving participants, but it works.

Something recently happened on the internet concerning a plan to obsolete the Non 'S' traffic, and I suspect it has not rippled through all of blogger yet.
I'll just have to forget watching these episodes. No time! This week is not much better.
Friday, I took our dog to the vet practice of specialists (can't get in without referral) for a stubborn UTI. While there, they listened to her heart and heard heart murmur/mitral valve disease. Our regular vet did not detect it last summer at her annual physical, but this breed (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) is very prone to it, and it can advance quickly. I think that's what happened. Not there eight or nine months ago but developed after her physical. I knew about the breed's high risk of MVD/congestive heart failure before I bought her as a puppy, so it was never a matter of "if" but "when." She is nine years old, and I'm pleased she made it this long before it developed. There are a lot worse things for which this breed is at risk (Syringomyelia, Chiari malformations, to name the worst). We'll get the echo-cardiograph reading this week (2-hr wait to get that done!) and know which stage she is at. But it's difficult accept that our sweet little dog's heart finally is giving out. ~sobs~
Plus .... Olympics. I'm a winter olympics junkie. (Not so much summer olympics) OMG, no time for both that and telenovelas! And a hockey game this week. I will try to stay current by reading your generous recaps and comments.
L Linda
Sending you loving thoughts during this time, and glad that you can distract yourself by enjoying the Winter Olympics. I remember, years ago, someone commenting that the humor and drama of the telenovelas helped her deal with the death of her daughter. Help and relief sometimes comes from very unexpected places.
During a very dark time in my marriage, I watched re-runs of Friends every night. And ate myself silly. Whatever works. But hopefully your beloved dog will get effective treatment and live happily for a long time.
I am not a fan of the OLympucs , but my mother watched them like it was her job.
Judy...yes, we all need an escape from reality when life becomes too real. Right now,the winter is harshing my vibe , so I have been watching reruns of "The OFfice" in between closer cleaning sessions.
I hope you are able to have your girl with you for much longer and that you are able to make more memories together. She is fortunate to have such a kind and caring mother. Of course you are worried and likely afraid. But, you are not alone. You have much support here on Caray. Please keep us posted as to how she is doing. We are rooting for both of you.
Diana
Doris, I tell my golden she will live forever every day . She just had her 13th bday. She isn't allowed to go anywhere. Maybe she is listening to me.
L Linda
And for the males, although 'mated for life' doesn't generally conjure images of groups, I suppose it could be for life for BOTH of them.
Pressing on...I know what you mean about the winter Olys. Some of it is OK, but that lay-down sled thing. The Luge or something, is as much fun as watching aunt Martha on her three wheeler.
Jeezo it looks cold there. I know it involves snow skiing and all, but sheemany.
Oh and another one right out of the broom closet, curling. Curling being taken from the Norweigen word Koerlung meaning Boring.
doris, so sorry to hear about your puppy. I hope you get some better news this week.
Kirby, as for the Olympics, there’s is always curling for some real excitement! LOL
Doris, I can certainly understand how worried you must be about your doggie....they are part of the family and are loved so much. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your doggie. Hope the specialist gives you better news after the echo-card reading.
Kirby, "God if I fell I'd just curl up in a ball and skid over to the edge and pretend it killed me until nobody was looking." You had me laughing out loud....thanks!
JudyB- I'm with you in the comfort stuff! When our son was going thru his divorce almost three years ago (yep, same son) I only listened to Enya in my car and reread all the rom-com books of my favorite authors.
I made time to read the past recaps and am caught up. Yay!!! And it was a good day at the olympics, courtesy of our DVR. We record and FFWD--> thru the commercials and stuff we don't care about. Saw amazing comeback-to-Win cross country skiing, the snowboard and luge gold winning runs and all the ice dancing and figure skating. 🎿⛷🏂⛸ Yayyy!
Oh, and olympics curling? I was totally addicted to it eight years ago. It's true! LOL Awesome drama. Coverage in subsequent olympics is not so good.
