Amar a Muerte, 12/12/2018, Episode 29: Which Ones Are the Bad Guys? Oh, They Are ALL Bad

Recap by Kirby J

The tension continues as León/Chino/Jacobo (LCJ) tells Armenta that Lucía will come through, but Armenta is getting impatient waiting while Lucia negotiates with Montilla and tells LCJ that he is fed up, Lucía is taking too long with the mayhem caused by the cops. As Armenta tells LCJ that his time is up and points Juanita (his lovely pistol) at his head, main goon leader rushes in to tell Armenta that the cops are leaving. Armenta wonders what saint LCJ prays to, but then tells him that the Saint must not have heard him.

Out in the corridor, Lucía thanks Montilla for saving her life and that of her chauffeur’s. Montilla is upset and chides Lucía for provoking such a big sting operation just because of her impertinence. Whatever happens next will be her responsibility, and she needs to respect the police. Lucía apologizes, and when they turn to go inside they hear a gunshot!
Karla arrives home and sees all the disorder. When she goes inside and sees Pedro passed out on the floor and runs to him. She tries to bring him to, but he is unconscious so she calls for an ambulance. As she talks to the operator, she sees the note from “El Ruso” (long-bearded goon) which demands that she return the money or there will be more beatings of those close to her.

At the library, Lucía goes running to LCJ who has been released. When Montilla asks for Armenta, LCJ replies that he doesn’t know, there is no one left inside. Montilla asks how he can be so sure. LCJ snaps that he had two guns pointed to his head as he was kneeling…what does he expect him to say? As Montilla tells the SWAT team leader to surround the building and leaves, LCJ tells Lucía that she did well.

Beltino is home packing when Javier comes in and mocks the father Beltino used to be—a serious man, a professor who teaches anthropology with several health conditions…Javier is glad his father is not the same anymore. Beltino sits Javier down and tells him that the other Beltran was a dummy.  After Javier tells Beltino that he loves him, Beltino tells him not to say that because he will cry and he shouldn’t cry. Javier wants to go on the trip with Beltino, but Beltino tells him he will be bored and that he will bring him a TX Ranger helmet. As they wrestle on the bed, Alicia watches and smiles.

At the company, Kayla shows Renata Patito’s profile on a social website. They see old high school photos of Patito and Guille; and Kayla comments that they look good together. Again, whose side are you on Kay?  They continue looking at more pics. Renata is convinced that they must have loved each other and will get back together…her kisses will be forgotten! She will give up now…with dignity, even though her heart will be broken. Kayla teases her and tells her that the victim role does not sit well with her, she needs to get with it and go after Guille. Kayla suggests that Renata go ahead and tell Guille what happened between them, but Renata thinks she has no hope.

Vale and Juls are at the park trying on different sunglasses. When Juls hears a song playing, she suggests that they dance. After they join the dancing class, Juls shows her moves while Vale struggles and then gives up…but she enjoys watching Juls dance.

Lupita arrives at the small curbside restaurant where Pancho found her a job. After she introduces herself to the owner, the owner offers her a trial period and Lupita assures her she won’t be disappointed. The owner agrees and has her start right away.

Karla is at the hospital. The doctor tells her that Pedro has an injury to the cerebral cortex…they are having trouble stopping the bleeding, but he will inform Karla as soon as he has more information. As Karla cries, she calls Camilo.

At the company, Guille and Patito arrive back from lunch. Renata listens / eavesdrops as Patito tells Guile that the best part of working at the company is that she will see him every day. Remember, women’s hearing is fifty times better than men’s or dog’s. After Patito leaves, Guille tells Renata that he will be in his office, and they will continue talking later. Renata obliges, but not happily.

On the road, Montilla drives Lucía and LCJ back as he continues chiding her for the little stunt she pulled. Lucía didn’t think it would create such chaos. Montilla continues to scold her telling her that she has no respect for the rules of the game. When he asks what happened, Lucía replies that he will have to wait until later tonight to find out, but Montilla can’t wait…he has to know NOW. LCJ intervenes and tells Montilla that Lucía is trying to get over what just happened, so this is not the time for questions; he will personally take Lucía to his office the next day if he still has any questions…after tonight.  You showed HIM, tough guy.

When they arrive at the company, everyone is outside and starts clapping. LJC comments to Lucía that, “the widow of Mexico has just become the heroine of Mexico.” She goes up the stairs and is met by none other than…something which crawled out of the commode, trailing some wet TP, er..no  Johny  (same thing).  As they walk inside, Lucía tells him that she has something with her that has to be broadcast this same night…it’ll be stellar.

Outside, Mateo catches up to LCJ and asks how things went. After LCJ replies that things got quite tense, Mateo is in disbelief that Lucía could take such a risk, especially after what happened to Gastón. LCJ thinks it was worth the risk of getting the interview and making a pact.

Inside at a meeting room, Jaramillo is met by Johny who tells him that his services will no longer be needed at the company. When Jaramillo argues that he was following Eva’s orders, Lucía tells him not to worry, Eva will soon find out the ramifications of her action. She invites Jaramillo to come in and sit down. Johny gives her a “how dare you go against me” look, You know, like when your poodle has just bit you and you are at the emergency room, so she asks him to sit down too.

Lucía addresses the group and tells them that she has a very important interview on a cellphone. Johny stupidly asks whose phone it is (does anyone care?). Lucía wants the video downloaded and prepared to air in tonight’s broadcast in prime time. She also tells them that she will give them the best phrases included in the video to promote the broadcast. When Johny suggests that they use, “The Interview of the Year,’ Lucía says it sounds good, but to consider other options since this is the first interview ever with Armenta.

Renata and Guille sit in the cafeteria to talk. Renata starts to tell Guille how she was told what happened, but they are interrupted when Guille’s phone chimes...a text from Patito with a picture. Renata caves and makes up a story about her cat breaking a glass…so that is how he cut his hand. Guille asks who the person is who told her, but Renata tells him it doesn’t matter, she has to go prepare for the guests who are arriving.

At the park Juls agrees to teach Vale how to dance since Vale is teaching her how to swim. It gets kinda intimate FFW ->->

At Camilo’s house, Karla recounts how El Ruso hurt those close to her again. Pedro is in bad shape; the doctors are trying to save him. When Karla tells Cami that what they want is the money, Cami tells her she must return the money or they will kill her. Karla doesn’t care if she dies again…the money belongs to her husband and daughter. She then tells Cami that she cannot see Ernesto again because she fears that the goons will go after him; she wants Cami to give Ernesto the money. As she hands him the money, Karla tells Cami it’s for her daughter, so Cami agrees. When Cami asks what she is going to do afterwards, Karla replies that she will leave.

Now at home, Juls tells Lupita about her day and how she ended up teaching Vale to dance. Lupita then tells Juls about her new job and pours out all the tips she made on her first day. Juls asks Lupita is she thinks she could be a good fashion designer…since Vale suggested it after Vale’s friends liked the blouse she made. Lupita encourages Juls and tells her she can be anything she wants to be.

At the Carvajal home, Johny walks with Lucía and Vale and Guille come out of their rooms. They all sit together to watch the interview that is about to air. Johny looks like he wants to barf. Meanwhile, Alacrán and Gancho prepare to watch…as does LCJ at a bar as he wipes blood off of his tattoo. Armenta is also waiting to watch the interview with his gang. During the interview, Armenta assures Lucía that it was not his bullet that killed Gastón. Don Terecio watches from San Antonio. In the interview, Armenta assures them that the difference between his cartel and that of Los Sierra is that his men are not murderers. Alacrán gets his gun and shoots the TV.  Armenta then makes a promise to respect all the reporters in Mexico…he has ordered his men not to touch one hair on any reporter.  After Armenta states that there will be no more deaths…death will have to move to another country for lack of a job, Death Chick sits beside LCJ and remarks, “Really?” She asks LCJ, “Let’s see, you who know so much about death, what is your opinion?  Do you think death will listen to what that decrepit old man has to say?” LCJ thinks she has him confused with someone else, but Death Chick sees it in his eyes, she sees it clearly. His eyes are not his, they come from elsewhere, and they didn’t always see what he sees now. LCJ asks for a drink so they can continue talking, but Death Chick disappears.

After the interview concludes, Vale comments that the interview will go viral on social media. Johny remarks that he hopes it only “blasts” the internet and that the blast will not be elsewhere. Vale tells him he is a party-pooper and advises Lucía not to pay any attention to him. Johny insists that León always stressed good sense and this is not sensible, but Guille thinks that his father would be very proud of Lucía. Johny continues to listen uncomfortably as Guille and Vale praise Lucía.  You can see shifty eyes Johny with the wheels already turning doing damage control, plotting his next dastardly moooove. He looks like he found a bug in his food but can’t spit it out.

In their home, Mateo smirks that Eva sent the reporters to make Lucía look bad, but the tables were turned on her (though he used “se te voltió la tortilla”). Eva thinks the interview is a disaster. When Mateo tells her not to get upset, Eva turns and tells him he should be the one to be upset since he has been a reporter for years and has gotten nowhere, now Lucía, an amateur, does this and is now more famous than he is.

At the Armenta place, Armenta comments that public opinion supports the widow of Mexico and now they are with the widow, so they should be better liked by the world. He does, however, think he should have worn his black sweater since black tends to make a person look slimmer. Armenta’s main goon wonders what the next step will be, but Armenta wants to wait to see how Don Terecio will react…he would love to see to look on his face.

Don Terecio calls Alacrán and asks what the $@&# he just saw. When Alacrán replies that he is just as surprised, Don T tells him he should be praying because if he were there in front of him, he’d break him. Don T snarls that Armenta is bad but that woman is the worst…he was made to look bad throughout the whole country. Alacrán better resolve this!  Poor TV gets the backlash…again.

At the Caravajal home, Johny doesn’t want to downplay what Lucía did, but they could have killed her. After Lucía tells him that Armenta will not touch her after this, Johny responds that she is assuming a role that she shouldn’t take. When Lucía wonders what role she should have, Johny reminds her that she should only be León’s widow. Lucía points out that is what HE wants, but Johny insists that is what they both planned…and what the public wants to see. Lucía proposes that they wait until the next day when the ratings are in; then they will see what the public wants. Johny, however, doesn’t think this is a question of ratings. Lucia stops to think and tells Johny that she doesn’t want to settle for being “the widow.” She has decided to leave her past behind and to stop being a victim of circumstances. She doesn’t want to live life as if it were borrowed, nor does she want to live in fear. After all that has happened, Lucía wants to reinvent herself (into LCJ’s little woman?) to make her own decisions and find what it is that she wants and needs…and THAT is not going to change. Johny stands like a hurt little boy (all he needed to do was stomp his foot) and tells Lucía he will see her tomorrow, but Lucía tells him that first thing in the morning, LCJ (she should just go ahead and say it ‘my maaan’ will take me…’) will take her to the commissary because Montillo requested that she go. As he leaves, Johny hopes that her little adventures with LCJ have concluded.  Yeah, wish in one hand and………...
Jon:  Like driving by work after hours and seeing facities painting over your name on your parking space.

At Camilo’s place, Cami and LCJ play chess while they talk. Cami missed the interview and wonders if there will be a relationship between Lucía and the narco. LCJ assures him Lucía will not have that type of relationship and suggests that he can see the interview the next day. Cami then teases LCJ that when he talks of Lucía, his baby blues shine. Cami isn’t sure if LCJ may have fallen in love again. LCJ can’t respond to that right now.  (so that is a yes)  LCJ then tells Cami about what happened to him this evening; he thinks he encountered a death (chick). LCJ continues to tell Cami about the lady in black at the bar…she told him that he came from another life. When LCJ asks if Cami thinks that is normal, Cami replies that he hasn’t figured that one out yet.

Karla is walking down a dark sidewalk when she spots two men in a car. She’s about to go in her house, but quickly walks away.

At Beltino’s house, Alicia is packing all of Beltino’s meds which he refuses to take. When he asks about how much money they have, Alicia replies that they are tight for money and even more so since he is going on his trip. Beltino snarls that he is going to go get the dough...LOTS of dough, he doesn’t know how else he can say it. Alicia suggests he used to say “money” and wants him to use his vulgar street talk. When Alicia wonders if he is going alone, Beltino retorts, “Who am I supposed to be going with?”

Karla is in a hotel room. She sees that her battery is about to die so she turns off her phone. As she walks around she happens to look in the mirror and sees her former self…and freaks, she thinks she’s going cray-cray.

Vale is in her bedroom trying to learn the song Juls likes when Guille walks in. After she tells Guille that she is going to learn how to dance, Vale tells him about her pretty friend who, by the way, she can introduce to him so he can go out on a date…which he hasn’t gone on in a long time. Guille is about to tell her about Patito working at the company when Lucho calls, so Vale tells Guille to forget about getting involved with anyone because it’s more trouble than it is worth. After he leaves, Vale frowns at the thought of going to a bar. It’s apparent that Lucho is being a jerk, so Vale hangs up on him.

Beltino is asleep in bed having a nightmare about his encounter with the spirits of those he killed. Alicia listens as Beltino cries out in his sleep, “You are dead!”

LCJ enters his bathroom wiping off the blood that is dripping from his tattoo. As he looks in the mirror, he sees his former self in the mirror—something he seems to have become accustomed to since he doesn’t panic…he just looks at himself for a few seconds, then walks out.

In her hotel room, Karla is asleep and dreams of being at a poker table. She is handed a black moth. When she takes it, she sees her former self sitting beside her laughing along with El Ruso, Ernesto, and Pedro. She then holds Monica’s hand and after Monica withdraws her hand, she sees her arm starting to burn. She wakes up screaming and sees her arm ablaze, so she runs to the shower and turns on the water…

Thanks Kirby. Enjoyed the screen shots and the wiseacre commentary. Especially this:

Remember, women’s hearing is fifty times better than men’s or dog’s.

"And it has to be! We need to keep a few steps ahead of you rascals."

Glad to see that Lucia has come out looking good and Eva looking bad. What bothers me in these stories is the collateral damage. Karla's father (in this life) has been badly beaten, injured so severely he may never work again, and all because she could not stay away from her gambling addiction.

Is the message that even though we may be "reborn" we carry the same mistakes with us?...Karla with gambling, Jacobo with his desire for Lucia. That still leaves Beltrán. We don't know where or if he was reborn but el Chino is using his body very effectively.

Will look forward to watching this later today.

I have been following you guys since episode one, am not real telenovela's Fan but Angelique Boyer makes me speechless to her performances, am watching this through internet each episode because we are not getting Univision nor Televisa in East Africa
I like the show it's completely different from El Cuerpo and both actors are Great starting with Protagonistas.

Welcome, New Member! Angelique is definitely doing an amazing job at portraying Lucia...and many of the other actors are just as amazing. Glad to have you join in on the discussions.

JudyB, "Is the message that even though we may be "reborn" we carry the same mistakes with us?...Karla with gambling, Jacobo with his desire for Lucia. That still leaves Beltrán." I think you may have nailed it!

I believe we will know what happened to Beltran’s soul untiil the end of the show, I believe even when the actor who plays Beltran was interviewed back in November, said that he didn’t even know what happened to the soul. But that was a month ago and they finished filming last week so yea, gotta wait till the end

Glad you liked it Judy, sometimes I can't stop myself.
Steve, He is a evil psycho in everything I have seen him in. He was just as bad as Eric Montenegro, and a sadistic bloodthirsty gay narco in La Piloto. He just has that look and the same hair always.

Unknown, welcome, I hope you enjoy our little group.

I wonder about that message Judy: Unfortunately I agree. Karla gambling sure fits the message. We are all enjoying the puppyish love reblossoming with Lucia and LCJ, BUT...BUT...Silvana's coffee grounds say there are dark clouds forming down the road.

OH Crap, Thinking further about the 'Judy Principle' , Leon >Lucia, Karla>Gambling, yields Beltran>Killing for fun and profit. Yikes..Goodie, we need more shooting. TVs don't count. :-)

But he doesn't really have anyone in his sights as of yet. I guess things could change once he digs up his money.
And if he and Busty Rose ever consummate their friendship, he will need a gun to protect himself from Aleashia

Steve, which Monica? Karla's daughter? You lost me. I can't think of another Monica.

So. How did Svengali Armenta and his goons slip out of a public library surrounded by ten SWAT teams undetected?

Johny continues to throw around the theory that LCJ is involved in all this, but no one is listening any more. Especially Lucia and Montilla. It would be nice if Eva and Johny would somehow take each other out.

I really liked Lucia's 'reinvent' chat with Johny last night. He made a few crucial mistakes. He seriously overestimated his charm-based control over her without setting up any secure method like blackmail to guarantee she would do his bidding.
He seriously overestimated his value to Caraval and by the same amount underestimated hers. "Just keep playing the grieving widow."

As SOON as she discovered as much she told him that the game plan has changed and now she is calling the shots. Through most of the show you could just see him thinking and planning, trying to outsmart Lucia, LCJ, and Montilla.

Anon 7:41, yes, the question about Beltran's soul has been on the back of my mine, but we'll just have to wait n see.

Steve, inquiring minds want to know: Who's Monica?

Kirby, "How did Svengali Armenta and his goons slip out of a public library surrounded by ten SWAT teams undetected" Uhmmmm, are tunnels quite popular nowadays?

Unknown New Member at 7:20. I want to welcome you once more. When I first found this site, I looked for written rules, but couldn't find any...other than "No Spoilers." I have learned that each recapping team/recapper has their own unwritten rules which are generally the same. Just an FYI, these are the rules I abide by on my pages:

1. Be respectful of others.
2. No spoilers—discussion of previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production is prohibited. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes references to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel.
3. No politics or religion to the extent of proselytizing. These may be mentioned in context of the artistic vision and/or history of Mexican culture.
4. Be nice and…have fun!

Kirby--You keep upping the ante in recapping. This one was stellar. Will the next one take in the whole universe? Thanks for the romp through this episode in Telenovelalaland.

Poor Johny. For the interview watching party, he looks like the little boy who wasn’t chosen for a game of nerfazos and is excluded from the tight circle of friends. He keeps trying to get in the circle using his “wisdom,” but continues to be excluded. Yes, he definitely miscalculated Lucia's new determination to make something new of herself. And, of course, he's correct in suspecting LCJ, for one of the two reasons--hitting on Lucia and being involved with the narcos. He'll have to puzzle those out, now that Lucia came through unscathed and strong enough to contradict his plans, er, excuse me, THEIR plans.

"Eva turns and tells him [Mateo] he should be the one to be upset since he has been a reporter for years and has gotten nowhere…" OUCH. I see a break-up coming. She doesn't need him for anything any more. She has looks, power, authority, and some hot bedtime activity (not with him). He adds nothing to her status. And Mateo certainly doesn't need her, unless it's to make him feel obligated and submissive and to hold on to his monthly allowance. She gives him incredible social status, but he seems to set that aside and argues with her constantly about his articles.

"So. How did Svengali Armenta and his goons slip out of a public library surrounded by ten SWAT teams undetected?" Kirby—They wear Ninja outfits. Couldn’t they have become invisible? (You are asking questions that even a Triple-lined Beanie can't answer for you.)

Elsa thanks.

One of the things I like about this story, after Kayla's hemline, oh, and Renata's new look too, is how Lucia is doing something positive when all expectations are the opposite.

It is a vast understatement to say the deck was stacked against her from early on. Conventional (at least TN) wisdom says , "Oh she will be sooo messed up, she did what? Oh well look what Mom did to her." Etc. etc. ad nauseum

But instead we see a smart young woman who has washed all that evil history out of and off of herself in the river.
She is smart enough to see the people and events around her clearly without her vision clouded by her past, and she is doing something positive about it. It is slick seeing her vision of smelly Johny changing in front of our eyes.

She shows us that you for sure can not go back and change the past unless you are Death Chick, but you can for sure and for certain change the future.

I hopeo things work out for her.

Anita, invisible suits?? quite possible...in TNLandia

Anon 2:33 Thanks for the reminder. I s'pose I can catch up on another TN I'm behind on. mehh

Elsa, I couldn't figure out the song. Thanks for giving us the title. Will that be their song?

Kirby, ITA, we are seeing a very dramatic, albeit good change in Lucia. JohnyBeShocked is not going to take it easily. I'm afraid for Lucia. And when all is said and done, will LCj let bygones be bygones. He is finding it very difficult not to mesmerized by Lucia. How will that affect his vengeance plan?

What is still up for debate is whether LCJ, mesmerized by Lucia, will remember at some point, that 1) she is, or was, cheating on "him" with Johny; 2) is just an "easy" woman to seduce, or 3) has found her "soul mate" in LCJ. Sure wish they would talk more to each other.

Just as slowly and tantalizing as Luci's and LCJ's attraction grows, it is a TN rule that the protags are separated for at least 1/3 of the show. I have a feeling that after his keen investigation, he's not going to believe she had nothing to do with his actual murder, and only was in collusion with Johny's plans to run the media empire.

I hate to think what is going to happen when Beltino comes back to claim his body. OTOH, he seems so enamored by Javier--a real son figure, which Jules never was, and despite Alicia's nagging actually likes not having to go out and kill people for his supper.

I'm surprised that I'm liking this novela so much. Too bad Jacobo -- Michele Brown -- didn't age very well. He was hunkalicious in Pasión de Gavilanes. I just went back to watch it again in order to get more of this gorgeous guy. His blue eyes are just so mesmerizing.

I'm lost about the Carla character and don't remember how she died or anything else. If anyone can give a very short recap of her story, thank you.

Victoria:
Like our other moth people, Karla is two stories. The Karla we see, the body, all we know is her dad mentioned the other day that he was thankful she survived that horrible accident. We assume she died and Death chick brought her back.

Now the other one whose spirit is in flesh Karla, was a gambling addict who stole from the bank where she worked to support her hobby. She and gambling so messed up her life that she committed suicide by burning down her house while she was in it. She left behind a small daughter Monica and a husband Ernesto.

Victoria, all we know about Carla is that she was supposed to have died in an accident. The individual's soul who took over her body was Jeraldi Jimenez who was married and had a daughter. She had a gambling problem; and after she "borrowed" 3 million pesos from the bank she worked at and she was cheated out of it, she set herself on fire.

Victoria--
Karla/Carla' body is inhabited by the wife (of Ernesto) and mother of a young daughter, Monica. She had a gambling addiction. She committed suicide by setting herself on fire because she had lost a lot of their money. I myself just learned that her original self is named Jeraldi Jimenez.

The real Karla/Carla was in an accident--we just learned that--and Pedro, her graveyard keeper father notes that she isn't the same since her accident. Jeraldi in Karla is trying to win back the money she lost. So far she's been successful in keeping it, though the Ruski and his pals have been trying to get it back. She wants to leave it for her husband and daughter. She got Camilo to agree to pass it on and isn't scared to die again.

Hey RGV and Kirby, you two type faster than I do and can say it in fewer words. Well, maybe this triple onslaught will help Victoria!

Talk about teamwork!! GO AAM TEAM!! :-)

B O O M

Thinking about invisible suits, I wonder how long it'll take one of these TN gods to come up with a sci-fi TN BLECH!!

Thank you guys so much. You cleared up so much regarding Karla. Her story seems more in-depth than I thought. Plus, what they do with the suicide factor should be interesting, being that Catholicism reigns in Mexico. But then again it looks like the writers are stretching it a bit with the two teenage girls.

Again, AB is knocking it out of the park.

Don't bring it up, RGV. Maybe they won't think of it. We get enough improbable situations as it is. I always worry about anyone getting kidnapped and tied up (or hung up) about having to go to the bathroom. Luci and LCJ were able to hold it all day and all night and into the morning hours. That's enough sci fi for me, not to mention Beltran getting back to Barbara's after he had that meltdown, or how far did Luci and LCJ actually have to swim in their clothes in order to get away from Armenta's men.

Victoria--Welcome to the 21st Century. Things we didn't expect to be part of a storyline are now IN. Camilo is the new priestly class (although Johny tries to look the part).

Anita, triple-lined Beanies will be a hit this Christmas :-)

Oh and the fact that Clara/Karla burned down her house makes last night's scene with her burning arms so much more understandable.

Thanks again everyone.

Kirby, I'm enjoying your recaps to no end!

Since they finished taping the show the other day, I guess it will not run much longer here in the US?????

Victoria, I think there are approx 87 episodes, so we have a ways to go.

Victoria, thanks, I enjoy putting them out here.

I believe there are 87 episodes and we are on 29 or so. Correct me if I'm wrong RGV, Anita, but that is close anyway.

Somewhere in the mist of time, 87 was mentioned. I'm sticking with the that timetable.

Yeah!!!!
Now we just need to wait for ASL to start Season 2. They should have made Al otra lado del muro two episodes IMHO.

Thanks again for these fabulous recaps! Also loving the repartee among you guys ! Great fun.
Kirby, your overwhelming interest in Renata’s physicality is hilarious. And her friend, whose name I forgot — i bet these.2 actresses are having a fabulous time with these parts and with the clothing they get to wear! Not sure if these actresses ever eat comfort food or maybe Univision just provides free Liposuction sessions throughout filming!
Re: Judy’s theory about how <>. Maybe so, but the reincarnated selves also are given a chance, though at times convoluted, to change things around, a second chance to make things right. In Leon’s case, it wasnt that HE did anything wrong. Rather, something wrong was done unto him. So we could say, the reborn souls are given a chance to “set things right.”
When and if Lucia finally learns who Jacobito really is ( IF that can ever happen???) , she will be thrilled to have same hubby in a super hot 20 year-younger form!!!!

Oops, forgot to put my name- amotelenovelas !!!!
Carole

One Alka-Seltzer® for Eva please.

Adriana Noel here

Thank you, Kirby. I'm a little late in the game, but I read all your insightful comments and I'm glad to see new faces adding to out little group every day.
Guys, don't forget to sign your posts and stick to your nicknames, so we can all get to know you better.

At this point I'm wondering mostly what is Johnny's next step. Lucia gaining some independence might ruffle his feathers a tiny bit, but when he realises that she's starting to develop feelings for Jacobo, all Hell will break loose.

I'm also curious about where Eva will go. Spleiiting with Mateo is mostly a done deal in my head, too, but how long before she actually realises that she's in bed with a monster (or maybe she really doesn't care?) I must admit that of all the characters her arc makes no sense for me.

Good Morning , Patio! Cold, very windy, but sunny in the RGV today.

Carole, "the reborn souls are given a chance to “set things right.” That's pretty much it in a nutshell, but they sure are taking their sweet time and going at it "a lo loco" it seems. And "she (Lucia) will be thrilled to have same hubby in a super hot 20 year-younger form!!!!" Oh if only that could happen to all of us :-)

Adriana, I still haven't figured out what Eva really wants...other than to bash Lucia. Certainly, she must realize that the scorpion she sleeps with is a venomous, evil jerk, yet she keeps going back to him, despite that fact that she claims that she loves Mateo..and does seem to want to protect him. Maybe she sees Mateo as the one person who can make her appear to look decent in the eyes of the world.

OT- Victoria, I found a listing of new actors who will join Amar Sin Ley 2. I had already heard Kimberly DLR would be joining, but look who else is supposedly coming in--

- Carolina Gaitán
- Omar Germenos
- Erika de la Rosa
- Alejandra García
- Marlene Favela
- Marc Clotet
- Kimberly dos Ramos
- Sara Corrales <-<-<-<- Kirby will lick his chops with this one!
- Ximena Herrera
- Scarlet Gruber
- Marco Méndez
- Ricardo Franco
- Lucas Bernabé
- José María Galeano
- Erika Buenfil

Dreary rainy day in the 'Funshine' State Fla, so here I am on the patio.

Adriana I suspect Johny will try to get Lucia back on the plantation with a combination of sweet talk and pity. That is more or less what he has tried before with his 'our plans', and 'I did it all for US' speeches to her. He is jealous as hell of Jacobo, and sees him as an annoying wart on his ass, but in his ego inflated mind he has never even imagined that there could actually BE something. If he could have been a fish a few days ago he would be floating and bloating in the sun right now.

Eva is so messed up upstairs I can not imagine what her plan down the road is. She is smart enough to know that she can never tell Alacran, "Oh Hon, that sure was fun, and I made a lot of money with that laundry service thing we had, but now I am June Cleaver." Logically she would eventually join his organization, as that is about the only course which might keep her alive for a while. But she won't. She enjoys the power and prestige of Carvajal too much and it appears she may have screwed herself into a corner . It looks like her only way out would be to orchestrate some scenario in which Alacran dies. That is cagey too, because these fellows are ALWAYS watching their backs, it is kinda a part of that kind of job.

" bed with a monster (or maybe she really doesn't care?)" I don't think she cares. She sees that she can sex her way out of any Alacran dilemma thus far, and I don't think she believes he would harm her even when he has threatened her before.

She is kinda like Johny in that she is not 100 percent in touch with reality. But they will be. Life has a way with those things.

ASL ! I'm in. Woof :-)

Kimmy 2 Ram was delectably HATEful in the wine show. I like Ximena Herrera too as well as Marco Mendez. I have never seen that Benadryl lady in a role I liked though.

RGV and Amotelenovelas: I think Leon's fault though nothing to compare with Kayla or Chino's, was falling for a young beautiful woman when he should have known something was not right. We see clues of that in the things he DIDN'T know about her all the way up to their wedding.

Kirby, you make a good point about Leon. Being teh wise businessman tah he was and having a full-blown security bunch, how is it that he didn't have Lucia's background checked. And why didn't Silvie, the coffee reader, warn him about all that was coming.

OT-Marco M will be good on the eyes for us ladies. I sure hope he has a much better personality than he did on RRRamon.

Well, RGV you tricked me for a minute, but I remember you drooling over M Mendez in Two Lives as Assdrubble.

Remember? He was Bun with Buns.

Hola, Patio--Cool and dreary here, staying off the other patio for now.

Amot/Carole: "...it wasn't that HE did anything wrong. Rather, something wrong was done unto him. So we could say, the reborn souls are given a chance to 'set things right.'” We can't give Leon a complete pass, lest we forget. When he "returned," as Jacobo, he was aware of how he had neglected his three children, in favor of business success. He felt guilty about that--he had "wronged" them. He saw who they had become, Eva, the ruthless; Guille, the spineless; and Vale, emotionally damaged to the core. So, yes, he now has a chance to set things right, but instead he's renewing his relationship with Lucia. The only one he has managed to connect with is Vale and the extent of which was to fill her head that her father was near, the reincarnation book and talking to Camilo. Big Hoo Ha. Of course WE are more interested in what will happen between Luci, LCJ and JohnyBeBad anyway.

Kirby--As far as picking off El Alacran, not only do these guys have other guys watching their backs, they travel in packs and there's always swift revenge for offing their titular head (although he's small stuff compared to Don Teresio).

RGV--You are so right about Silvie and the coffee grounds. She certainly was loyal and dedicated to Leon. Maybe she wasn't "seeing" straight in those days. If she had, though, we wouldn't have a story. So why bother telling us NOW that she sees bad times ahead for LCJ and Luci. We could see that without the coffee grounds. (Ugh, what kind of coffee does she make that leaves grounds, anyway. Tea would have been so much more sensible and time-honored.)

Kirby--Johny doesn't hesitate to stoop to threats either to keep things under control on the plantation. Remember how he "manipulated" Luci a few episodes ago (after she and Jacobo returned) that if she was lying that nothing had happened during their kidnapping, she knows him very well and will kill Jacobo. Icy.

i'm pretty confused as to why leon/chino and Karla feel the pain of how they died but Beltran/Chino doesn't feel anything. Is it maybe because he has a thousand medical issues? Or maybe he only feels it when he's in water like when he was with Valerio at the waterfall?

Anon at 12:32--Beltran/Chino does feel pain, the most recent episode was when he was with Barbara--doubled over in pain and his tattoo bleeding. He also suffers from nightmares where the people he killed appear and talk to him, as does Santa Muerte.

i mean the pain he felt when he got electrocuted, because the tattoo bleeding and pain is something that all 3 of them have but only leon and karla feel the pain of how they died. leon doubles over in pain where he got stabbed and karla feels like she's burning but beltran doesn't feel like hes getting electrocuted. does that make sense? lmao if it doesn't my bad

Yeah I forgot about his threat to kill Jacobo. Fortunately, he is shooting at a moving target now, as things change day to day in the Carvajal power structure. He sure sees his stranglehold on it slipping. I wonder if he will resort to something drastic?

The good thing, is Monty is even more cunning and tricky than Johny. The one failing with the Johnys have is they THINK they are smarter than anyone or anything, and Montillo has figured that out. You can see him capitalizing on that Columbo-style as he keeps in touch with Johny, and lets Johny think he has lured him in as a Buddy. That is far from the truth.

This kind of coffee------------------------------------------------>

I'm trying to learn to read the coffee grounds myself.

Kiby--Just too funny. How long did it take you to sift and shake to get those results?

Anon at 12:32, 12:41 - You got me. WE get enough of El Chino sizzling during the credits. Karla/Jeraldi only started seeing herself burning recently.

i believe that she felt like she was burning even before she was introduced, she says it when she first meets camilo (that she has the burning sensation), if im not mistaken idk what episode tho

Kirby, will you be trying out a crystal ball too?

Anon 1:19, now that you mention it, I do remember that conversation between Karla and Cami.

A quick hello.

I did not watch ASL #1, but I like some of the cast for #2. Does anyone know when and what time it will be on?

Cold, foggy, and gray here...rain is on the way for the whole weekend.meh.

SusanLynn, I didn’t watch ASL 1 either, but I also like the new cast coming in; so I’ll probably watch it. The 1st season was on at 10(E) so it’ll probably air at the same time; and probably replace AAM once it’s over.

We called it PASL, but it was more like MEXICAN LA LAW. We laughed a lot during court room scenes--you'll see why. I, for one, am glad DZ isn't in the 2d season. By the by, many of the actors on RGV's list may only be there for one or two episodes--just a warning. In fact, two in the 1st season I was really looking forward to seeing were Jesus Ochoa, who only lasted 1/2 of one episode and Jose Elias Moreno (jr.) who lasted not many more than 2. Julian Gill was terrific, but I don't care for him much either, but he was back in cheesy form a la Sortilegio. Ana Brenda Contreras's character was frustrating--a bit wishy-washy.

This is too funny, Kirby. I googled reading coffee grounds and found where you got that pic for your avatar...it's from the "turkish coffee reading" site, right?

Anita, oops yes. it should be PASL :-)

I learned it watching the Turks in Entre Dos Amores. :-)

Julie Gill has never played a part which made me like him, and PASL sure didn't help. I only watched PASL in woof mode and had no idea what was actually going on. Not to sound crass but the show did have some knocked out hookers.

Kirby--I think Julian knows his bread and butter is playing sleazy guys. I've caught him several times (briefly) on some sport show and he just doesn't seem sleazy at all. He actually comes across as a rather nice dude--go figure.

I'm impressed that you took the time to FIND a picture of Turkish coffee reading. What else is necessary? Is there a how to video on YouTube perhaps?

Buenas tardes, amigos. Sorry I haven't posted any comments lately but you guys are all doing a great job.

I agree that MB isn't aging well and this style haircut and beard are not the most flattering for him. Still love those eyes, though.

Agree completely about EvilEva. She is a complete mess and up to her scalp in poison.

When PASL 2 comes up I'm signing on. Time to give Christopher Mason a narrating partner.

I find it funny that you, guys, are intrigued about reading in coffee grounds, for me this is as normal as any other devination form. My grandma used to be pretty good at it, she read to me once in a while before she passed.

What you need to do is prepare your coffee the turkish way - grounded coffee boiled with water and then poured into white mugs (White so you can see the signs).
Once the coffee is ready, you can even read stuff in the foam that forms, as far as I can remember.
Anyway, you drink your coffee and you just let a tiny portion at the bottom so it gets mixed with the grounds and it forms a paste.
You turn the mug upside down for a few minutes and then you are ready to start your reading. You can see lines, circles, triangles, animals, different objects etc...and each thing you "see" has a different meaning.
There are people out there who have an actual gift for this type of thing and it's not something that you can be taught, you need to "steal" it from someone else, by watching them perform.
And there are many other ways you can guess someone's future, Eastern European customs could put even the coolest shamans to shame, I believe.

I'm interested in Ley2, also, mostly for Victoria and Roberto.
As far as I know DZ is still one of the protas but Ana Brenda will only be in a few episodes, due to scheduling conflicts.

Adriana--Thanks for the detailed lesson--Kirby? anyone? Up to trying it out and reporting back to us?

Anita- you are right that Leon does not get a complete pass- apparently a less rhan stellar Dad, much more interested in his young sexy wife-to-be ( not clear how long that relationship was before deciding to marry her) . However ( pardon me for being so blunt), we all know how these older guys looooove their younger sexy women, whose interest in them is muuuuy involucrado with the holy dollar sign. !!! These guys just dont seem to be able to think past their _______! So, i guess Leon, though seemingly a relatively nice guy, was completely sidetracked with his young blond novia and temporarily forgot about his kids. What is not clear is how he was with his kids before Lucia showed up, BUT as a parent, would you give 2 hoots about Evil EVA? Or half-dead Guillermo.?

Since i was unfamilar with mIchel brown prior to this TN, could you folks tell me in what way as he aged poorly? I think he’s pretty hot myself.
Carole. Here in very rainy Florida

ITA that i would prefer someone to replace DZ in PASL!!! Despite some of the slightly unrealistic lega procedings, I loved that show and look froward to its return! It’s always good to have a nice break from the NARCO world! ( im currenlt watching Falsa Identidad along with AAM so you can imagine how tiring it gets to watch these Pathetic NARCOs!!!!
Carole. AMOT

Amot--Apparently, and we have Camilo's word for it, Leon was distracted from his family even while his first wife was alive, devoted to building his empire.

WooHoo look at this.
