Amar a Muerte, 12/21/18, Episode 35: A Birthday Burden Bared and Shared

Parte 1~~

Beltran and Barbara are being held at gunpoint in the woods by Sr. T's two henchmen (I believe) who've followed them to the burial site of the briefcase of stolen bills.  Belchin' tries to tells them it's his inheritance from his dead daddy but that doesn't fly even with these two toads.  So, he warns them it is cursed and if they take it they'll never live to tell anyone.  Again the two gunmen don't believe him and walk the two into the woods to murder them.

Juliana arrives to the party and Valentina is surprised at the change her designer dress and shoes have made.  She and Jules enter the party room where Renata is still sulking and worrying that there won't be enough food and drink to go around.

Away from the party, Mayela goes looking for the glum-faced Guillermo.  Too soon for a birthday party, she admits to him.  Yeah, but thanks anyway, he replies.  She gives him a new, very expensive watch for one he lost years ago apparently.  Val introduces Juls to Guille and May.

Back in the woods outside San Antonio, the real El Chino maneuvers the gun away from the mouthy bad guy and shoots the #2 bad guy dead; he then shoots the mouthy #1.  He tells #1 that he warned him the money was cursed; he adds that well, you looked for El Chino and you have him right in front of you--but you don't understand, do you?  He then gives Mouthy one more bullet between the eyes.  Barbara is having fits during all of this and if anything could have shut her up once and for all this was it.  "--what did you do?" "--I saved your life and mine, and took back the case--what more do you want?...It was them or us!" Barb's incessantly locomoting maw has been appropriately muted.  Barb's internal bell ringer finally made it to the top of the tower and realization sets in: he's an assassin and now I am mixed up in it all.

Panchito and Lupita have lunchtime tacos.  They discuss her missing man and the homemade posters she's put up along the streets. FF>>FF>>

Belchin and Barb make it back to the trailer and are ready to head off to the airport when three more of the Sierra gang show up.

At the manse, Jacobo opens the door for Lucia.  She pouts at him and declares that since her kisses don't resolve anything for him their will be no more and struts away.  He's told by Tiberio there's food in the kitchen for him.

Belchin' pretends to be an innocent university professor with a sick wife to feed.  They see El Chino's Santa Muerte skeleton.  He lies that Lupita gave him a key and they're thinking of buying the trailer from her since she and her daughter are sick of San Antonio.  Eventually they have to believe Belchin's side of things, but El Calito leaves a man behind to follow their every move from here on.

At the party, Jules is introduced and makes a hit with Val's valley girl friends, especially when they realize she's the designer friend Val's been telling them about.

Carla's dad has a dream in which Bad Karla returns in a cloud of smoke and tells him it's time they both go their separate ways.  He's confused.  She died twice and Karla says they die many times and eventually they will both meet again.  The next life she will do much better.

Silvina and Jake share a bit about Guille's birthday being hard for him since his dad's dead; Sr, C never had any time for his kids, though he wasn't a bad father over all.

Guille overhears Ren giving directions about keeping the booze flowing.  She admits that May forced her into it but she's happy to be there.  Just then Tonio the patrician psychopath walks over to Guille to congratulate him on his birthday as if nothing had ever happened between them.

Lucho's BFF falls even harder for Jules seeing her all dolled up and he admits it to Lucho.  Lucho and Val argue again till he shuts her up with a "love pill".  (Viewerville's alarm bells start going off all over town.  There had to be a reason Lucho was always such a jerk, right?)

In the front part of the house, Eva and Matteo whoosh in.  Eva starts giving Silvina grief from the end of the hallway that the house is in mourning and there shouldn't be any celebration, let alone a party that this bitch-witch wasn't invited to join.  "--A surprise party?  Well there'll be a surprise when I cut the party off!"  Jake walks over and interrupts the torrent.  "--Isn't Guille sad enough today without his older sister shutting down his birthday party in front of all his friends?"  She suddenly reconsiders and schlepps hubby with her to another, more quiet part of the household.  Jake tells Silvina he'll speak to Guille (to try cheering him up?)

End parte 1~~

========================

Parte 2~~

Guille and Tonio have an hefty discussion in the drive outside.  Guille tells Tonio that he wasn't invited.  Tonio kids around that friends don't need invitations.  Guille replies that they haven't been friends for quite a while now, since he proved to be a trashy human being.  They get into fifty-cuffs and suddenly Jake's there to stop it before it goes any further.  He tells Guille to go for his sister and then goes after Tonio.  Tonio tells Jake to ask goodie two shoes Guille about the liquor store business and storms off to his car.

May finds Guille outside and eventually admits she wants to get back their close friendship and that  She's back from N.Y. and found out her happiness is in front of her.  She's in love with him.  She locks lips with him just as Ren and Roomie walk outside for some air.  Ren sees the kiss.  Little does she know that The Kiss has caused a flashback to the party and he remembers Ren and himself passionately pressing tongues at her birthday bash.  He apologizes for being distracted and says they'll talk later.  May's abandoned, but Ren's already gone back inside to mope and despair.

Val is acting strange in one of the hallways when Juls locates her.  Val hands her a "love pill" but Jules only pretends to take it.  Suddenly out of nowhere, Eva appears and chides Val.  Juls takes her away and then greets Mateo farther down the hall.  Eva sees Guille come in and gives him a birthday greeting and hug.  He gets what--another watch?  She scolds him only a tiny bit for the party, but Mat reminds her it wasn't his idea and let him enjoy it already.  They leave.

At the bordello, Johny asks around about the woman he thought was from there but the hooker he's with says nobody there matches his description.  Then he admits that he's got a girlfriend and is leaving to marry her.

Lucia walks out onto her bedroom balcony to oversee the doings and get some air.  Suddenly she spies Jake as he looks up at her with a great longing in his eyes.  She backs away and re-enters the bedroom in a lovelorn daze.

Camilo finds Pedro, Carla's papa, and begins asking him questions about the last time he spoke to her.

In San Antonio, Barb finds Belchin' with a bonfire blazing' just outside the trailer door.  He's got his pistol and is watching out for more bad guys.  She joins him there.

Jake finds Guille and asks about the bar business Tonio mentioned on his way out the doorl.  Guille tells him what happened.

Johny drives up and walks in.  He enters Lucia's bedroom and begins pawing her--bear pawing her and sniffing and snorting out loving words to her.  The submissive Lucia cannot/will not fight him or whatever power he holds over her.  He backs her down onto the bed.   When she "assumes the position", accepting some type of submission, he does not see the far away look in her eyes.

Comments:
”Ultimo besso” - yeah right Lucia/Lady Boss. “Jamas”, “Nunca” and “Ultimo”- my favourite words in novelas.
Monkey writers totally ruined/destroyed Lucia's character with this episode. Again with Johny ughh. Good one sister, you couldn't sink any lower. Full house and everything. No redemption for Luci any time soon.

Anon I was pretty disappointed with Lucia too. I was even more disappointed that they made it look like she didn't have any say so in it. I thought all the time LCJ was going to catch them. I want him to catch her with Johny or vice versa, one or the other, I don't care which. Or Oops maybe Johny AND LCJ catch her with Armenta. Busy girl..HeHeHe

Unless Lucia is of the mind that any hop is good, and if with somebody you actually LIKE, then it is great.

ChinoBeltran and Barb were great last night. I had wondered when the old Chino would surface in that new eight feet tall body and we saw him in action last night. When he disposed of their captors in one smooth sweep ole Barb looked like she had come face to face with Satan himself. I was proud of him. Then later he was sitting outside on his hillbilly davenport relaxing with a nice fire and she wakes up and assumes he has skipped out on her. Then she almost gets herself shot when she rushed outside.

Was that a small sofa or loveseat Beltrino was on? The preferred outdoor seating is actually a front bench seat out of a pickup truck or Cadillac.

Thanks in advance Jardinera
More later

Thank you, Jardinera.

This show is starting to remind me of one of my favorite shows "Highlander the tv series" starring Adrian Paul as a Highland Scot Duncan Macleod who is immortal and has lived many lives and lost many loves. The rock group Kansas has a song "Who Wants to Live Forever."

I am trying to figure out the message of this show . There used to be an old tv show called "Ben Casey " about doctors in a big hospital . In the opening, you heard the old doctor say, "man..woman..birth..death..infinity".....that kind of says it all about life, doesn't it?

Susanlynn: I remember Ben Casey. I was in kindergarten/first grade when it was popular. But you're right. That opening sums it up!

Kirby/Anon: I at first thought Lucia was back to her old tricks, but then I saw that close up and it reminded me of a scene of her when her mother was pimping her out to men at 13/14.

Susanlynn and Jar--
While you two were watching Ben Casey, I was watching Dr. Kildare (occasionally).
Regardless--between man..woman...infinity, there's a jouney with a timeline. It's what you make of that road trip of life that's important. You two chose well.

Jar--I'll take a peek at the recap now, settling down with coffee before loads of errands and baking (peanut butter pie for one thing) call me away.

OT....Anita, actually , I had a major crush ON Dr. Kildare that all my friends knew and teased me about . My friend liked Ben Casey ,and we took framed photos of the two when we went on vacation to my aunt's house. Then I ended up with someone who had black hair and eyes like Vince Edwards (Ben Casery) but had the sweet personality of Richard Chsmberlin (Dr. Kildare). I find myself looking backward more than forward right now.

Jar--Thank you for whooshing me back to a minute by minute account of the episode. How long does it take you to think up lines like, "Barb's incessantly locomoting maw has been appropriately muted. Barb's internal bell ringer finally made it to the top of the tower and realization sets in: he's an assassin and now I am mixed up in it all."

Delayed gratification--have to wait for Guille to finally kiss Renata; wait for Armenta's intimate dinner for two to become dinner with blood for three; wait for Luci's "nunca" to turn into a "de vez en cuando," with fireworks, of course; LCJ to walk in on Luci and Johny. If it's during this encounter, maybe she'll try to make it seem like an attempted assault and let LCJ pommel him. I think she's tired of Johny, sees him for what he is, but isn't quite ready to turn him loose--he still wields a lot of power around Carvajal and she needs to learn where his weak points are. Luci is just as wily as Johny.

I was disappointed no one went into the pool at the party. Tonio would have been the ideal dunkee.

Again, thanks, Jar, especially for deciphering all the young folks' conversation and passing them on to us in a way I could understand.

Episode 35 is big disappointment for me. First 34 episodes were excellent. Main couple's chemistry extraordinary. But this episode with Lucia's submissive behaviour with Johnny and that strange look in her eyes... I got stomachache.

Barb's incessantly locomoting maw has been appropriately muted. Barb's internal bell ringer finally made it to the top of the tower and realization sets in: he's an assassin and now I am mixed up in it all.

Now that's why I always enjoy Jardinera's recaps. Wow can she sling those palabras around with a vengeance. M'dear, I would never want to cross you. You remind me of my mama who could really dish it out with just a few choice words. But such fun.

For some reason my DVR didn't record last night. I really felt like throwing a temper tantrum (aren't all of us still 2 years old inside? Or at best, middle school age?) Well anyway, I calmed down when I saw your juicy recap all dished up for me and sure to relieve my anxiety about Beltran and Barbara. Honestly, they're my favorite couple right now. I need a few laughs in this cold, dark December and with a four-week cold still hanging on.

Now what's up with this "we die many times and have many lives" stuff. That doesn't sound like transmigration, that sounds like karma and reincarnation. Are the writers playing fast and loose with us again? Well, it wouldn't be the first time.

Thanks Jardinera for a tasty start to my Saturday. Cough, cough, hack, hack, sniffle, sniffle.

i like beltran more than i do jacobo does anyone else? he's just more entertaining to watch

Anon 1:46 yup, right now anyway, me too. Jocobo spends waaay too much time moping around and giving everybody his puppy dog eyes look rather than beating people up, shooting them, running them over with the car or at the very LEAST seeing what is happening under his nose and RECORDING it from the Bat Cave. All that emoting may be the sign of an extraordinary performance, but if I want that I have pages of emojis on my phone. :-)

i also like that action as well and it looks like Bel is the only one that is going to give us that action. Feels like this Arturo Barba's best work so far in TN's.

Kirby: Lucia will have as much on Jacón for playing peeping Tom with all the family, not to mention her and Johny in the study! I'll be waiting for that anvil Road Runner fans. Leo ain't quite as pure as the wind driven snow A-t-all.
=========
Anita/Judy B. -- ancient Chinese...excuse me... Russian-Latvian American secret!!

Susanlynn: Adrian Paul was a black-haired, dark-eyed beauty back in the day also as I recall..... ;?))

Kirby/Anon: As for action, I'd like more and am so disappointed. Then I remember that it might be El Chino's wrapper but it's Leon's flight over fight personality inside that wrapper. He was a lover not a fighter.

Anon: Arturo Barba has given a wonderful performance playing the quirky-crazy, blood-thirsty El Chino gone off the reservation and taking up the character where Michel Brown left off with it. He deserves a Premio for this TN. From house pet to throat grabbing wild wolf. Loved it!

Good Afternoon, Patio! A little late to the party, but I'm here now. Wow, Jardinera, very impressive recounting of the events. I am especially grateful because I was so tired yesterday that I actually dozed off during some scenes...can you imagine? And so many good comments already...all that I agree with.

Anon 7:55 ITA about the "ultimo beso" yeah, right! Or maybe she meant "ultimo beso" in that outfit LOL I also agree that Lucia went down a few notches on the totem pole. She is allowing herself to be coerced by Johny, but maybe she is afraid of him since he knows so much about her and she was in on whatever scheme they plotted against Leon. Despite the fact that she is trying to "prepare" him for her new independent status, she is probably intimidated y what he could do or say about her...after all he has already murdered once (that we know of).

Kirby, I too was SO happy to see the original El Chino emerge last night...finally! Not that I like see someone murdered but I just couldn't get used to the submissive trickster he had become.

Susanlynn and Anita, "Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey" (sigh) those were the good ol' shows.

More laters...keep up the good comments!

Jardinera, "house pet" LOL I can still see him in that cage where Maria's father put him in...one of the best anvils I have seen (in La Bella y Las Bestias).

OT...Jardinera...yes, Adrian Paul is a handsome man...loved the long hair. I think that I will Google him and see what he has been doing.

lbylb was such a good show too bad it wasn't super successful here or in MX, arturo barba did a fantastic villain

No AAM on Monday and Tuesday.

First thing in telenovelas 101: male protagonist gets angry and ends up in bed with main female antagonist. In this telenovela, male and female protagonist changed rolles.

Whatcha gonna do with Armenta without Jacobo's help estupida Lucia?

Anon: Maybe slap a Dolly Parton wig on her and send Eva to Armenta.

Good Sunday Morning, Patio! It's a nice sunny day in the RGV with temps expected in the high 70s...I am blessed!

Anon 11.35pm, my TV listings show a regular TN schedule for Tuesday. I remember last years it was the also regular schedule on Christmas Day, but we shall wait n see.

Anon, 12:27am, good question! and I do like Kirby's idea--Eva can take her side candy with her...hehehe

:-) :-) :-)
"Oooo Army, I've been thinking about you all day since you called. And I brought a friend I think you will like. Allie, this is Armie----oh, wait, do you two know each other? Dammit, I didn't bring MY pistol, can I still play?"

Bang, Bang,

"Oh patooties, I thought they would get along. I gotta get hold of that Steve guy on Caray now."

LOL That’s probably how it would go down, Kirby.

Rgv chick
Yes, new episode on Tuesday=Martes.

I've read that Angelique Boyer is pregnant with Sebastian Rulli's child and will be leaving Amar a Muerte.

But hasn't filming for this novela already finished and it is airing on Mexican TV?

True or false?

Anon 3:14, yes, filming for AAM has concluded.

Happy Christmas Eve, Patio!! Have a glorious day!

Some good shrink is best solution for Lucia's mental illness. Is she bipolar or what? After everything that Lucobo couple went through (kidnapping, escape, love story), watching Lucia with that psychopath in bed, for me was like watching scared lamb and ugly wolf.
Discasting and disturbing scene. Someone posted earlier that Lucia should be jealous if Leonchi show atention to Valentina. Can't wait.
Sorry for my bad English.

Anon 8:55, I understand your comment very well, so no need to apologize for your English. I don't think Lucia is bipolar. I just think that she is finding herself falling in love with LCJ who is a "mere chaffeur"...someone who doesn't have the money or power that would help her continue the lifestyle that she has come to have.

Thanks for the link Victoria! So HAWT blue eyes also sings!! What a man!

Taking a break from baking my peanut butter pie...I watched El HAWT blue eyes' video. He's just another pretty boy (sorry sweetie). My juices start flowing just watching him stand there as Lucia walks to her door and he blinks.

Lucia probably isn't that worried about money or power at this point. She's probably more worried about Johny and Eva. And with Armenta sniffing around, how is she going to confront him when she's pissed off at LCJ? Maybe she should take Johny with her and put HIM in a blonde wig.

I wondered about the Val-LCJ relationship, but I don't think he will cross the line physically. Val is very grateful for the attention he has showed her and doesn't mind hugging him spontaneously. Lucia may, but I'm going to say MAY feel some jealousy if she sees them together too often, but she's the one "trying" to distance herself and remain aloof (as on the balcony, with Romeo looking up at his Juliet).

Still, we are going to be treated to a very special evening on Tuesday night, right?
Must See TV.

Hopeo everyone's Christmas holiday is filled with love and family; good food and good conversation--and practice a little Spanish while you are at it.

Susanlynn, for you especially, hug your daughters and granddaughters and be happy you can share these days with them. Te quiero, amiga.

MUY FELIZ Navidad a todos Uds!!!! Bright beautiful gorgeous sunny day here in Florida’s west coast!!!
ITA about Beltran’s performance when he swooped in and bam bam bam got rid of everyone!! LOVED it and glad to see you guys did, too!

We really needed that after relentlessly witnessing so many unresolved annoying scenes!
Its kind of weird seeing Lucia so powerful and smart assed in previous scenes but and then seeing her with Johnny, HOPELESS. However, i agree with whoever said- he holds so much “dirt” on her and could bring her down so easily, she has got a tough, complicated GAME to play! She is totally fed up with him- at least we know that much.

I was shocked to see that Michel Brown video... couldnt turn on sound as i have company in room working, but I had no idea he was a singer and what’s with his teeth??? Boy he fixed himself up nicely after that!!! After all, besides his eyes, his infrequent smile makes him super adorable.
How i wish we all could meet with the writers of these novelas while they were still in the midst of project and help them out a little!!!
Carole. AMOT

Rgv Chick.

I also think that Lucia knows that when she is getting closer and closer to LCJ, she is ruining the master plan that she and Johny made for the long haul. Johny is just disillusioned if he thinks the people will want their queen to get married, let alone so soon after León's death.

Now it appears like LCJ is trying to get back in the good graces of his, León's, adult children.

Merry Christmas everyone and mucho gracious to all recappers for dedicating precious family time to your faithful followers.

IMHO this episode was so worthless, nothing of import happened. And I'm so sick of the teenie bopper (Valentina and Julieta) storyline. I wish I could make it just go away. I think the writers are trying to ram a teenage lesbian relationship down our throats as a PSA (public service announcement.

It's not a lesbian relationship that I have trouble with, it's mainly the way their characters have been written and the screen time they take from the important Lucía/León storyline.

Why did Lucas have such a sophisticated monitoring system (even in the bedrooms and bathrooms)? That I don't understand.

Wasn't Johny at the Bordello to find the "death watch lady? I though I heard him describe her and he didn't go with any of the girls available.

Merry Christmas to everybody from Manila, Philippines.

Lucia is brave enough to confront Armenta, but not brave enough to say No to Johny. I don't understand that girl.

Anon: My thoughts exactly! Lucia is hypocritical & contradictory.

Late to the party, but Feliz Navidad to all! I've had a bad cold and spent the last few days mainlining tea and chicken soup.

Lucia may be able to stand up to Armenta but Johny knows too much. He knows the skeletons in her closet and could ruin everything for her. Does anyone think she will try to off him later on? I certainly wouldn't miss him.

It will be very interesting to see Belchino and Barb get out of Texas with the money. But how will he explain the money to Alicia?

Renata crossed a major line with that expensive gift. It isn't proper to give something expensive to your boss, especially if he is far wealthier than you are.

Merry Christmas everyone. To all my blog friends, I wish you joy and good health this Holiday season.

Urban, I hope you feel better.

Did they air Capítulo 36 Yet, on Monday night? It shows up on the website Telenovelas Online.

Victoria--Nothing was broadcast Monday night. I think you are just lucky. We will be watching #36 in a few minutes.

UA--Sorry to hear you are under the weather. What expensive gift did Renata give Guille? I thought it was a giant jigsaw puzzle. Was there another gift?
Eva bought him the watch, which he didn't need, nor really want.

I meant Mayela.
