Amar a Muerte, 2/6/2019, Episode 65: Fools Rush in Where Dead Men Fear to Tread
At Silvina’s house. Lupita sees that Juls is upset and asks what is going on, but Juls just runs off and tells her she will be back soon.
In San Antonio, Mariela wonders how much longer Fabián will continue with his obsession over El Chino…the man didn’t just kill his father, El Chino is also ruining his life. Fabián feels bad because he knows he could have done something in Mexico, but she pressured him until he came back. Mariela points out that the man escaped and there is nothing Fabián can do; he should think of his son. Fabián is definitely thinking of his son, what will his son think of him when he grows up and finds out that his father did nothing to catch his grandfather’s murderer. Mariela insists that is what happened and there is nothing he can do. Fabián, however, is determined to return to Mexico.
Juls enters through the gate and wanting to know how Vale is and what’s going on. The cop tells her she can’t go in and she waits by the patrol vehicle. Um..we kinda got a situation here chickie. Inside the house, the paramedics are working on LCJ when Lucía asks for help because Vale is having a panic attack. Montilla walks over to LCJ and wonders if he knows the magnitude of what he did…he killed the most powerful drug trafficker in the country…and that will surely have consequences, he is telling LCJ so he can take precautions for himself.
At the Carvajal estate, Johny comes marching in. When he is told he can’t go in, Johny tells the cop that he is the owner of the house, the cop apologizes for not recognizing Mr. Corona (so everyone knows that Johny OWNS the house??). As he goes through, Juls runs up toward him and shouts that she is Vale’s friend, but Johny ignores her. Juls continues to look toward the house. Inside, the paramedic are helping LCJ to the ambulance. When he insists on walking, Lucía pleads with him to use the gurney, but LCJ looks at her in annoyance and continues on until Vale walks over to him and gives him a tight (daughterly) hug as she cries. The paramedic continue to lead LCJ to the ambulance when Johny comes marching in and asks Lucía and Silvina if they are ok. Outside, Fabricio and Tiberio are giving an account of the events. As they continue, Juls is still watching the house.
At Alacrán’s den, Alacrán yells out his “UPA!!” when he finds out that Armenta was killed.
At Silvina’s house, Lupita calls Juls who tells her that she is at Vale’s house. As Juls continues to talk, she sees the paramedics guide LCJ to the ambulance and quickly hangs up. After she yells out “Chino!” LCJ looks up toward her. Juls is distraught as she assumes that Vale was in danger because of Chino.
At Barb’s house, Beltrino is annoyed to hear again that he is “the chosen one,” he can’t understand. Barb thinks he shouldn’t complain so much and be grateful that he is alive. Beltrino is still disgusted with his worthless body and he still doesn’t know why he came back from the dead. When he asks about the time he has left, Barb tells him that she asked, but he man told her something very strange…that when he sees, he won’t see and when he really wants to see, he’s going to end up looking upwards…dying. Beltrino still wonders what he is supposed to do, but Barb doesn’t know, those visions are very odd…she never understands anything they say. When she asked for an explanation, the spirit left. Beltrino is frustrated that he isn’t getting anywhere. When he asks why he was chosen, Barb replies that he is a criminal. Beltrino thinks it could be because he is a devout follower of the Santa Muerte.
At the Carvajal house, Eva hugs Vale who is still crying. Guille and Renata arrive and quickly go to Vale. After they hug, Vale remarks how she was afraid she would never see them again. Guille would have wanted that he be the one to have gone through this horrible experience. They hug again.
At the Carvajal house, Montilla tells Johny, Lucía, and Mateo that the nightmare is over. Armenta’s obsession with Lucía ended up being his downfall. (are you listening Leon/Clino?) Lucía is glad it’s over and Mateo thinks this must be a great blow to Armenta’s organization. Montilla agrees with Mateo since one of the leaders is dead and the other is in jail, but adds that it will only be a setback since those tend to reorganize quite fast. When Montilla adds that this is still a victory, Johny assumes that it is thanks to Montilla, but Montilla sets him straight when he tells Johny that it was actually LCJ who had the courage to confront them and kill Armenta. Johny isn’t so sure about that. As Johny suggests that Montilla thoroughly investigate LCJ because he thinks LCJ is part of the organization, Lucía looks at him questioningly and in disbelief that he is being such a jerk. Mateo doesn’t agree with Johny, so Johny adds that he and Lucía discovered that LCJ is an impersonator who got close to the family with other intentions. Montilla appreciates the information, but would prefer that Johny go into the station to give his signed statement.
At the hospital, Cami goes to see LCJ and complains about the high security at the hospital. LCJ is annoyed by the complaining so he assures Cami that he is fine…the bullet went right through. When Cami chides LCJ for what he did, LCJ insists that the man was at the point of killing his daughter…it was their lives or Armenta’s life. Cami calms down and tells LCJ he would have done the same thing. After LCJ comments that he is grateful for having El Chino’s body, Cami adds that he should also be grateful for the transmigration. LCJ then tells Cami that El Chino’s daughter was there and saw him…he fears Vale finding out…it will mess up everything. Downstairs, Juls asks the receptionist how she can find a man who was shot. Juls gives the name “Macario Valdez” so the receptionist tells her they have no one by that name…Juls should go with the secretary for health to look for information.
.At the Carvajal house, Guille introduces his girlfriend, Renata, to Lucía and Johny. Lucía is glad to meet her and Johny welcomes her to the family and hopes that this is the beginning of the best time of their lives. Afterwards, Johny asks Lucía to meet with him in the study.
Pancho talks to Brigida and makes sure she is calm, he doesn’t want to fight. Pancho wants a divorce, but Brigida will not make it easy for him, she won’t give him the divorce. Pancho asks why they should stay in a marriage that stopped working many years ago…they should give each other the opportunity to be happy, they are still young and now have the maturity that they were lacking when they met….they can make a better choice their next time. Brigida agrees that if he wants the divorce so badly, she will give it to him, but it will cost him. Brigida leaves and hugs MeLaGross who had been listening by the door.
At the hospital, Cami expresses to LCJ that he is afraid…of the Cartel, of Lucía. LCJ interrupts and remarks that that is a risk that they have to take. When Cami asks about Lucía, LCJ responds that she was distant but then she was attending to him. Cami thinks that the plan is completely ruined. LCJ reminds Cami that Lucía was going to leave with him, he doesn’t think she would kill him a second time. Cami sees tht LCJ is getting upset, so he tells him to calm down.

Everything is going to hit the fan now. Johny is telling multiple layers of lies that will hurt not only Jacobo but Lucia and I'm betting that his master plan all along was to use Lucia to get Leon's fortune and position and then... dispose of her. He deserves the second deepest level of hell, with Eva in the deepest one.
I can't wait for the fallout from all this.
UA: I agree with you on the ramifications being exposed considering Eva is instigating things & likely wants Juls dead.
And what was Guille going to do if he headed over there? No gun, no car WHEELS, no skills, the only thing Guille could do would be help Steve's body count.
Maybe the Cartel will offer LCJ a job now that pays a helluva lot more than chofering. The secret route which Vale had told him long ago sure came in handy. Talk about the call of th blood, LCJ and Vale sure have the link.
Where was the cat, Tlacoyo? Probably in the park selling Lotto tickets and Kitty porn.
Urban, I'd bet you are right in that Johny planned all along to use Lucia until the time was right, like maybe after the poor widow had married HIM to put him in the inheritance line, then kill her too. I can hardly wait for his anvil, he makes my blood boil every time I see him.
Mike "running and squeaking." Just so. I am tired of looking at her constant, pained , intense face.
This show could have been called "Nobody's Happy..Dead Alive."
Well, I am off to deal with more things that I don't want to deal with.
Yup, Yup,Yup! So in Mexico civilians are allowed to just walk into a major shootout and they are guided toward the front?? Is that Mexico's way of addressing over-population? My goodness that was just crazy...and then Montilla takes the time to answer his phone??? Yassir, that ice cream truck would have been the icing on the cake!
Kirby, that hug between LCJ and Vale was definitely the call of the blood--my favorite scene last night. I must say Macarena (Vale) did some noteworthy acting last night.
The directors, however, fell short...from the civilians running into the shootout and that bulletproof vest that was a dud. And what was the purpose of Johnny asking Lucia for his glasses just to have him pull them out from his pocket with out looking? Trivial, I know, but I noticed.
Urban, I think you're right. That fan is gaining momentum and when the crap comes, it's gonna spread and hit everyone. LCJ killed the most notorious drug dealer in Mexico...he's gonna be chased by everyone---good guys and bad guys. Time to cover my eyes?? Heck, no! Eyes wide open!
Anon 11:43: Jason Bourne = Jacob Bourne-again and Ivan Hunt = Jacob Hunt(ed) Thanks for the idea! :-)
Susanlynn and Patio, hope your day goes well.
While they all might worship Santa Muerte I doubt they will buy the transmigration story. El Alacran might think he will take over the cartel now, but I don't think he's smart or cold-blooded enough and he still wants El Chino's head over the million dollars.
Liked this:
[police] Nothing like the element of surprise fellas. All you need now is a marching band.
Yep, marching band, ice cream truck and full video coverage. Renata showed her chops sticking by clueless Guille. LCJ demonstrated that he still has el Chino's smarts when it comes to taking out people.
Barbara continues to be a pretty clueless medium for the "más allá" but she certainly gets interesting visitors.
And Rgv Chick, I too was baffled by Johny's "where are my glasses" and then lifting them out of his pocket. Although I have done something similar. I think it's called "thing blindness".
Corona cracks me up when he's talking to his bimbo of the day. 'Cause that's ALL he does. Basically, every time, he's talking about Lucia and his worries with her. Pornographic counselors for our Johny lad. If the poor gals have to listen for hours, at least they're getting paid.
Thanks for another lively recap in your trademark style Kirby. This one was a puzzler in terms of Armando's decision-making. But who cares? Glad to see him go down in a hail of bullets. (he is really dead, isn't he?)
Let’s see. How the heck was Jules able to leave Silvianas hide away home...go to the shootout and then back to Mexico City to look for El Chino all on foot? Skateboard? Hitchhiking? It’s not like Lucia’s mansion was a few blocks away?Seriously how did Juts run all the way to and from? A beanie for me won’t do it...maybe a beanie and a trench coat?
The title deserves a billboard outside Ebbing, MO.
Here are my favorite phrases, Kirby:
"Anvil upgrade #17" --Only to #17? Is that a bigger, heavier anvil, or where she stands in line. I hope it's the size of the anvil.
"Sure, Rambo, just bust on in there. There's an app for that." --Mateo is the least likely Rambo on the planet. He fires away with his pen, which actually is just as dangerous. El Al will definitely be after him.
"Sheesh, who’s next, the ice cream truck? Hey, Servy, let’s take a break for some ice cream!)." --Summer humor. Let's hear it for the disappearing ice cream trucks.
"..conflict between the regular garbage guys and the recycle people Juls." --and she'd believe it, too.
"Servando goes DOOOWN." --What to wear to a romantic shoot-out assignation? A dirty old t-shirt accompanied by 15 armed men. He went down so easily, so gracefully. If it hadn't been for Vale, though, Jacobo, without his human (non)bulletproof vest, wouldn't have gotten off a clean shot, but ended up in the morgue next to Servy. Does anyone think Servy's big ego was centered in his "little" head this time? Did he really think he was going to have his way with Luci or Vale (and I suspect he wouldn't have picked Silvina of the trio) with the Enemy at the Gates ready to crash his party? OR Did he set himself up for Suicide by Cop? It's a fine line there. I agree with JudyB, he just needed to grab Luci and skedaddle. I wonder how many hours the writers spent deliberating how to bring down the Armenta Cartel in one fell swoop.
"..so everyone knows that Johny OWNS the house??)." --Just one lie after another. His disdainful look at Juls hurt me as much as it humiliated Juls. I hopeo she remembers that slight later on.
"Alacrán yells out his “UPA!!” --The BEST scene of the episode.
"Fabián packs his pistol." --It'll be in his packed luggage, no doubt, and have all the paperwork filled out for TSA.
"..he [El Chino] doesn’t exist, the man she saw was the man who works as a chauffeur at Vale’s house…he is not her father." --Another cliff-hanger. Juls is not going to be able to figure that one out. MUST SEE TV tonight.
Anon at 12:58: They have Ubers in Mexico, I think.
I'm dreading what more EVIL plots Eva has cooking up.
Wait ! That is what they mean in "Pay as You Go." isn't it? Then that was a lot of paying and going. I'll bet she slept well last night.
And, ironically, she would have been telling the truth. Hmmmm, I suppose maybe that explains it, since Max and the cat are the only ones we have not caught in a lie thus far. But the cat does need to get that incontinence looked at.
Anita, "..so everyone knows that Johny OWNS the house??)." We all have pretty much accepted that Johny is a liar, but hat got to me was the cop coming back with "Oh, I didn't recognize you, Mr. Corona" Doesn't that imply that everyone in Mexico City thinks that Johny owns the house?
I know exactly how you feel, JudyB and Anita, the excitement and suspense are never ending with this TN; it seems to get better as it goes. Normally, there is a lull in TNS to stretch it out...no lulls needed with this one. There are some episodes that have less action, but there's a lot of necessary building up for the next one.
