Coming to a Screen Near You...in 2021: 2nd Ed.
SALUDOS, Caraymates!
Welcome
to the second edition of the “Coming Soon” page! We’re well into the 2021 year
and have some very interesting TNS airing; some have a ways to go while others
have concluded or are in their last laps; “so what’s next?” you may ask. Well,
we still haven’t seen many of the TNs discussed in the first edition of this
page and some are on their way while others have been cancelled for airing in
the US. You can forget about ¿Que Le Pasa
a Mi Familia?..that’s the one that Univisión cancelled due to some
unfortunate unforeseen circumstances that cannot be discussed here. Telemundo’s
Café Con Aroma with heartthrob,
William Levy, is “coming soon muy pronto” and some of us are excited about
that! There has been no mention of Fuego
Ardiente on Univisión, so we’ll just have to wait ‘n see what happens with
that. In regards to Malverde: El Santo
Patrón, well, we are disappointed that Fernando Colunga bowed out, but he
will be replaced by Pedro Fernandez; the TN is still expected to air sometime
in 2021.
So what else is on the horizon? Well, get your coffee/drink and let’s talk…
I.
TELEVISA/UNIVISION
Diseñando Tu Amor –
PRODUCED BY PEDRO ORTIZ DE PINEDO
Premieres on April 26th at 8PM!!
Diseñando
Tu Amor is a melodrama with hints of the more traditional TNs that we
so much yean for. It is an adaptation of the Portuguese telenovela Meu amor and will be headed by actress/singer
Gala Montes and Juan Diego Cobarrubias (who we hated in Vencer el Desamor, but this
time he will be quite likeable!). In their company will be Cris Pazcal, Ale Müller,
Ana Belena, María Sorté, Norma Herrera, Armando Araiza, Osvaldo de Leon, Adrian
di Monte, Frances Ondiviela and the TN giants Sergio Goyri and Jose Elias
Moreno!
The story revolves around Valentina (Gala) and
Nora (Ale), two sisters who are very different personalitywise, but have the
same dream of making it BIG in the fashion industry. “In the beginning”
Valentina is employed at a pasteurizing factory which belongs to Ricardo’s
(Chris Pazcal) family. Valentina is starry-eyed for Ricardo who is actually not
a very nice guy and just wants to use Valentina to steal from his father.
Ricardo and Valentina make a plan to escape, but when their plan is botched,
Ricardo’s father forces him to take a trip with him. To everyone’s dismay
(maybe), the trip turns into a tragedy and changes everyone’s lives, especially
Valentina’s. Her sister, Nora, and she decide to go to the “big” city” where Valentina
meets Claudio (Juan Diego) who is a dedicated lawyer with a mission to help his
community with their legal issues. Valentina and Claudio quickly set off
fireworks but sister, Nora, has also set her eyes on Claudio (another
s(in)ister rivalry!). AND to Valentina’s surprise, Ricardo survived the
accident and will be another wedge between Valentina and Claudio since Ricardo
wants Valentina back…as well as his money.

I didn’t watch the first two in the Vencer trilogy but I might just watch this one. Seeing AB and SR will be a treat.
I want to check out Diseñando Tu Amor. I’m not familiar with the female lead but it still looks like a good cast. And I’ll watch anything that Osvaldo de León is in which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone here haha
"Malverde: El Santo Patrón" I guess has had several covid cases slowing production, rumored Fernando Colunga fear of getting covid was the reason he bailed.
"Parientes a la Fuerza" kicked off production in Mexico City this week.
"Armas de Mujer", it was my understanding this was being produced by Telemundo for the Peacock streaming service, part of the NBC family.
I've been taking a break from telenovelas (nothing appeals....wah!) so hopefully there will be something for me to watch in this herd of new telenovelas, especially daytime. (fingers crossed)
Jarifa, yes I do see some prospective TNs that might be fun to watch :-)
TF, I've never watched anything with SR and Ab together,so this will be my first (if I decide to and have time to watch it.)
Susanlynn, yes, lots of familiar names! Now to decide wich ones to watch! Decisions! Decisions!
Juanita, deb is right, Armas de Mujer is a joint venture between Peacock and Telemundo production but it's only for the Peackock streaming service :-( If Telemundo is producing it, why can't it run it on its own network (not really a question, just a complaint) Waaahh!!
Jarifa, I keep hearing good things about Quien Mato a Sara Too bad I don't do Netflix :-(
deb, thanks for clarifying about Armas de Mujer. I've made the appropriate edits.
Steve, I haven't seen ESDLC, bt I'm looking forward to checking out the new TN with Gala.
Doris!!! Good to "see" you here! I've missed your avatars and your humor :-) I do hope you find something appealing. And yes, Corazon Guerrero will be quite the circo. If Sergio Sendel does end up in this, they'd better stock up on phones :-D
I can appreciate how much work went into this. You do so much to keep Caray, Caray going...
As the second installment is now firmly esconsed in my top 10, I cannot wait for Vencer El Pasado. Not only does it have Rulli and Boyer, but some of the previous cast will be back.
Diseñando Tu Amor might be good although I am unfamiliar with most of the cast except for Juan Diego and Osvaldo on whom had a little bit of a crush on since La Malquerida days (I wasn't the only one was I TF?? La Desalmada looks appealing as I have a weakness for Jose Ron.
doris, great to "see" you.
Thank you RgvChick!
Diana
After Desamor, I fear I could not see the actor in anything other than a villain. That is unlikely fair as many actors manage to do both quite nicely. But he's so good at "bad", I think he's found his niche.
Diana
I'll definitely check out the Telemundo offerings. I'm on the waitlist for La Reina del Sur 3!
I'll also be on the lookout for any new Turkish offerings.
dondi356
And add me to list of those having a crush on Osvaldo :-)

I am fascinated by this possibility. PDG was the very first novela I ever watched almost 20 years ago and the idea that they could make a sequel blows my mind. Although logisically given the chances of getting the cast back together and all that I would have expected a Tierra de Reyes season 2 before the PDG 2. Still I love the idea. I hope they get the cast back, I noticed on Natasha Kluss's wiki page it listed Pasion de Gavilanes 2, but I didn't see the same listing on any of the other original cast members.
