Guerrero Capitulo 8
Part 1 of 2

Victoriana is upset because Lupe just barges in her house whenever she wants. She demands the truth from Augusto, does he still love her? When he doesn’t answer, she says she will take action! Lupe also complains about Victoriana with Micaela, but the poor woman no longer has a job, so…

Victoriana wants another party! This time for Guadalupe… it’s her plan to finish her off… I don’t get it, but who can get this nutjob?

At the foundation, Domenica is put in charge of organizing a gala… and everything has to be done by the end of the week (yeah… because that’s how these things are done!). Domenica agrees, since she can get an assistant.

Lupe doesn’t have enough money to pay all her bills, so she chooses to pay the Internet over the electricity, her daughter has exams to take.

Carlota has a date with Jesus. Her papi is worried, but Carlota loves the fact that Jesus treats her like a normal person, she believes he can help her heal. Augie reluctantly agrees, Carlota hugs him for dear life (I find these two as father and daughter odd. Diego Oliveira is 54 and Altair Jarabo 36, so he could technically be her father, but he looks too young for it. But then again, Alejandra Espinoza is 35, so maybe Augusto was a child groom or something).

Anyway, Domenica walks in and finds out about the romantic date Carlota is getting ready for. Oh, and by the way, papa agreed to the trip we want to take.

Some guy arrives to check that the shop’s papers are in order.

Domenica tells Augie she can’t go on a trip, she has a new job, but Augie wants her to make an effort for Carlota. Domenica is about to tell him the truth, when Federico interrupts them and Domenica leaves. He tells Augie the Guerrero’s documents are in order, the inspector he sent couldn’t find anything. But it appears that the shop was bought by some Abel guy. Augie sees the documents and there is Abel’s ID – he remembers him from the day of the attack.

Samuel is daydreaming about Domenica, admits to himself how much he likes her. He hides her portrait before Damian can see it, wants to leave to run an errand. Jesus finds out and gets upset, is afraid Sam won’t manage on his own. Damian is afraid, too, but thinks Sam needs a chance to prove himself.

Adrian is watching one of Emma’s videos when she arrives. They offend one another, he says her videos are just as shallow as she is, she replies that she deserves to be an orphan, but then they both realize they exaggerated and decide to go grab a bite together. Ugh...

They talk about Emma’s hopes and dreams, she says she’d like to become a journalist, focus on important topics. Adrian thinks if she believes in her, she can do it! She has a great life, pretty sisters… and what does her dad do, anyway? Emma doesn’t really know, but he’s always very busy, barely has any time for her, even if he loves her a lot.
Adrian is sad he was raised in an orphanage. But he does have a family, so he’s more fortunate than others. When one of his friends calls and Adrian turns his back, Emma tries to give herself an insulin shot, but doesn’t have the time.
Adrian takes her home, she gives him a kiss on the cheek in front of the gates, I think Victoriana sees them.

Guerrero Capitulo 8
Part 2 of 2

Damian finds Domenica’s passport!! And just then she arrives for a new lesson with Sam. Since he’s not there, Damian invites her to have a coffee together, he has some questions for her. He asks for her cup to read in the coffee grounds, “sees” in there that she’s a criminal. She asks him what he was doing in her father’s office and who was the guy who barged in the other day. She eventually storms out.

Mariluz is getting ready for her online exam, Abuelita gives her a snack for her nerves. But then the computer shots down – their electricity was cut. Micaela suggests they should go to her ex patrones, they live close enough. Mariluz is desperate enough to agree.

Sam is back home, explains he was at the ranch, but he wants to be with them. Jesus is proud of him.

Jesus and Carlota go out, Mariluz sees them leave in his car. She is allowed to go on a computer in the house by Olivia, has to focus on her exam. Mica then explains to Domenica about Mari’s money problems, she can’t even find a decent job.

Carlota and Jesus are in a place that is not really to Jesus’ taste, but he pretends to enjoy himself. Later Carlota starts singing, Jesus seems to be genuinely having a good time now (or is it the actor enjoying the funny scene?). When she’s done, she wants a kiss, he hesitates, asks for a dance instead. Carlota happily accepts, thinking to herself that this guy will be hers, no matter what, she could even kill for him. Jesus has his own dark thoughts, remembering how he was separated from his brothers as a child and his promise to his father.

Victoriana fights with Emma over Adrian, threatens to send her to a boarding school in another country if she doesn’t stop seeing him. When Emma leaves, Victoriana kind of sort of tries to apologize to Mica… the house is a disaster without her. Mica negotiates for a 30% raise, reminds Victoriana she never even had a vacation before.

Mariluz is done with her exam, Domenica asks her to come work with her on a small project.
Fede and Augie found out that Abel is a lawyer. Augie thinks he has to be more than that, why else would he help the brothers?

Lupe prays for her daughter, she still remembers Augie’s threats and begs the virgencita to protect Mari from her father.

And at the same time Augie receives Mari with open arms in his house. She is very thankful for the help, apologizes for the party again. He is nice and cordial, Mari gets back home and explains how great he is. And his daughter offered her a job. They are all very happy that Mari did good at her exam. And Mica got her job back, too.

Mariluz is dreaming that Jesus has come to see her to say that everything she saw today was a lie and he only wants to be with her. But the abuela wakes her up to eat. Mari is sad over Jesus, though, he’s dating someone else, she doesn’t feel like eating.

Victoriana tells her assistant on the phone that Micaela is back the next day, their plan can move forward.

Mariluz eventually gets out of bed, overhears her mom and abuela talk about Jesus. Lupe would rather Mari forget about him, her daughter can’t go through the same pain that she went through when the man she loved preferred to marry another woman. It was a hard lesson, but that’s how she learned to do it all on her own. Augusto was not the man for her. Mariluz is shocked to learn that her mom and Augie were once involved.

Thank you Adriana, you captured it all and I love as always your wit and asides! I hadn't thought about the age difference between Augie and his daughters, but you're right. I think I've just become numb after seeing so many novelas where the age difference was so ridiculously inaccurate that now the beanie prevents that from catching my notice. I do know that Gonzalo (Jesus) is actually the youngest of the actors playing brothers but playing the oldest brother here. They are all really close in age - I don't remember now exactly how far apart - but he is the youngest.

I was surprised that Victoriana knew about Augusto's past with Lupe but that does make her crazy possessiveness and jealousy make a little more sense.

When I was watching Lupe decide which bill to pay my first thought was will the internet work without the electricity?? LOL I guess we found out the answer is no. It was a nice thought though.

I can't believe after everything Sam still felt compelled to go and warn Tata/Batista that the cops were looking for him!! That is some crazy stockholm syndrome - but he did find his way to the ranch and back on his own, so good for him.

I bet the actor was just enjoying that scene! It was funny and it looked like it would be fun to play around with. I just love Carlota, she's so silly but she's so unapologetically herself! She has such confidence as evidence by that singing performance, she maybe shouldn't, but she does and I love that. I'm sure she'll get all BSC eventually but for now she's just entertaining!

Good for Mica negotiating her raise!!!

Mariluz and Domenica becoming friends could be interesting...

Guerrero

Adriana & Darcy, thank you for the fantastic recap and notes.

Some surprises:

-Everyone (i.e, brothers) remained mostly clothed during this episode. Will that continue?

-Beltrán Jr. got away from Augie’s henchmen on account of rush hour traffic. Ok.

-Vic wants to plan a party “for 4OO,” hire Micaela back, and “finish” Guadalupe?!!

-Dom and Adtián recognize each other at the soup kitchen(?) but Adrián can’t stay and chit chat because he has to deliver a bowl to Tostitos®️ to some clientele. ?!?

-Our rescue pup (Sam) was set loose on the city. Didn’t we all agree we want to keep him from harm?! How sweet/innocent/sonso of him to try to protect Tata. This smacks of Stockholm AND.a pure heart.

-Adrián & Emma sort of reminded me of the Jasmine & Aladdin dichotomy upon meeting (One would kill for a palace; the palace isn’t really all that). All signs point to more drinking (her) and his proving he’s a diamond in the rough.

-Augie is completely captivated by Mari (her resemblance to her mother and her drive to be a professional). Does he really have no idea that she is his sangre? I was worried she’d be treated poorly at the Ruiz Montalvo manse.

-The date/karaoke sequence was brimming with the actors and extras having a great time. Where have we seen this actress?!! LOL The kookoo foreshadowing was not subtle.

Hope ya’ll are having a great week!

One more thing: as things are getting mad flirty betwixt Carlota & Jesús, a server interrupts by delivering Jesús a snack (beer nuts). She delivers looks that kill, and when offered the snack, she says, “You know what they say about peanuts in a bar?” Then the scene cuts to Vic’s tantrum about Emma seeing Adrián. What the heck do they say about peanuts in a bar?!!

O.S.

Guerrero

Thanks for filling in some of the blanks, Darcy and O.S.
Samuel and Jesus are playing brothers again and Jesus is the older one in this one, too. I guess it's that baby face that Sam has....

I kind of like Domenica and Damian together (D&D?) and Carlota is entertaining, but that's about it for me. I do like Jesus, but he and Mari not so much. Too bad he and Carlota don't actually have a shot, they are so different it would make for a fun pair.

I actually really dislike how Emma and Adrian started and her saying that he probably became an orphan because he was so rude or something similar was so low, it was actually shocking to hear. Sure Emma has her own trauma and is a step away from possible death, considering how she hides her perfectly normal, not at all shameful desease. It all seems so useless to me.

If Augie still has the hots for Lupe after all these years why would he threaten her like that when she said she was pregnant? Also, did we just find out that Mari is the oldest of the sisters? Lupe said that Augie was getting married to another woman and that's why he left her - she was already pregnant, was Carlota's mom pregnant at the time, too? Mari is still a student because of money problems, but both Carlota and Domenica seem to be done with school (and going by Carlota's age in the flashback with her mother she is several years older than Domenica). And Mariluz's age has actually been implied, since the big break up happened 26 years ago.

Yeah, I'm overthinking this...

Guerrero

O.S. the whole thing I ever heard about peanuts in bars is that you shouldn't eat them because everybody is putting their hands in those bowls all day long and they are a feeding grounds for germs. I am not sure if that's what she meant or not.

Adriana, yes the baby face is no doubt the reason. Okay I looked it up again because I was curious and Jesus and Sam are like six weeks apart - lol - But Sam is older by six weeks! Damian is like 2 years older than both of them. Gonzalo was born on Christmas day - at least according to Wiki but I also take Wiki with a grain of salt.

Interesting thought that Mari may be the oldest. I figured Mariluz and Domenica were the ones that were close in age because of the shared animosity between Lupe and Victoriana and as we just learned Vic knows about the former relationship between Lupe and Augusto - does that make as much sense if Lupe was actually the rival to Augusto's first wife? And he left her for Carlota's mom? Would Vic even have reason to know Auggie once dated Lupe if that relationship was over before his first marriage? Or would Lupe feel animosity toward Victoriana if she wasn't the woman Auggie left her for? I suppose it's possible but I assumed he dated both women after losing Carlota's mom and then left Lupe and married Vic and soon after Vic was pregnant. So maybe Mari is older than Domi but younger than Carlota?

Then again, if wife #1 was the second choice and Auggie truly loved Lupe even then, that might give motive to SpanProf's question of whether or not Augusto let Carlota's mom die when he could have saved her.

There, I'm helping you overthink it!! LOL You know you can count on me!

OT:

RGV Chick: Thank you very much for restoring this 😃

Darcy, I hadn't thought of the fact that Auggie might have already been married once when he met Lupe. It would clarify some of the timelines and the ages of the girls. I think your version makes more sense, I was under the impression that Auggie and Lupe were a young love type of thing, but if he was a widower with a daughter that changes their relationship in my eyes. Oh, well...

I wish we knew more about Abel, too. I don't remember his connection to Jesus, either, but if he bought the mechanic shop for him and he's feeding his vengeance needs, he has to have his own reasons, right?

Guerrero. Great recap, Adriana and excellent comments all around. We finally learned something about don Abel's background and his relation to the Guerrero brothers. I am presuming he was their father's lawyer? I see that Domenica has even acquired a few reading/writing textbooks. Good for her! Yep, Darcy, way to go, Mica! Finally a decent raise and some paid vacation days! Maybe neither she nor Victoriana realized how important she was to the household. Could Augusto be a sort of Mexican and more refined Vito Corleone?

If I were Adrian, I would have left and never looked back after Emma was so insulting. I'm guessing she's never been criticised by someone who isn't her mother, whose insults most probably aren't as effective after a few years. But still. Don't ask if you don't want to be told. At first I thought I misunderstood the whole party idea because it didn't seem to make any sense.
Sam going to warn tata was hard to watch. He even addressed him as formal you, which I found disturbing.
At first I didn't realise Lupe had to choose between paying for electricity and the internet though I had a suspicion this was the case. I was like 'do you know you won't be able to use the internet if you don't have electricity. Unless there's some other way that I am unaware of besides mobile data and that tiny modem you put straight into your computer.
Jesus apparently said something about feeling like a toad because later Carlota asked him what would happened if a princess showed up and turned the toad into a prince. I'm not sure about this one, but sapo does mean a toad, doesn't it?
Darcy, you mentioned a couple days ago that you think Abel was Jesus's guardian. I remember that too so two people can't be making up the same stuff. He also said Abel became his lawyer, which I found very odd somehow.

I'm about to post today's recap but I wanted to make one more comment on yesterday's first regarding the interaction with Emma and Adrian. While I 100% agree she was beyond rude to him and it is NOT okay, I feel some sympathy for Emma. In the first couple episodes Emma was talking to her friend about how she wanted her first kiss to be, so we know she must have very little experience with boys. We also know her mother treats her like a pariah, and an oddity. 'The sick one'. She's finally met this boy that she really likes and she goes to talk to him with all this excitement and anticipation - asking him why he's watching her videos and probably expecting whatever fairytale response young girls make up in their heads... instead she gets she's spoiled and shallow. That would be quite the blow to anyone in that situation and a young, inexperienced, and immature teenage girl would likely hit back, verbally.

It's appalling that she used his orphan status to attack, but considering all her friends were making fun of the orphan it isn't exactly surprising. More like grabbing for the closest/most low hanging fruit; than it is her actually thinking up her own insult.

Okay, I am now posting today's recap. I apologize in advance for any typos but it's a busy day and I don't have time to proofread/edit as closely as I would otherwise like to!

Guerrero – Capitulo 9 parte 1 de 5

We start with a repeat of Mari overhearing that Augusto and her mom used to be a thing.

Jesus arrives back home with Carlota. Carlota is bubbling over with excitement over the evening and Jesus admits he had a lot of fun with Carlota. Jesus thinks they are saying goodnight but Carlota has other plans, she drags him inside to have dinner with the fam.

Domi is trying to tell Emma about the event she’s planning for the next competition but Emma is distracted. Domi manages to keep her sister’s attention long enough to get her promise that she will publicize the event on her social media. Emma asks Domi how she is supposed to know when she’s in love. Domi tells her to describe her symptoms and she will give her a diagnosis. Emma has all the symptoms, she can’t stop thinking about him, she feels butterflies and when she sees him, she gets all nervous. Domi determines he’s definitely a goner and they are excited until Emma remembers mom made it clear she can never be with Adrian.

Adrian and Co talk about the upcoming competition and his friend says why bother going the girls always win because of their privilege. But Adrian doesn’t think that’s fair, they have more going for them than privilege, they work hard and they are good dancers. They have the same dreams; we can’t fault them for that. His friends give him a hard time for defending Emma, is something going on? Adrian doesn’t answer but we see him thinking about that kiss!

Dinner with Augusto and family. Carlota tells everyone how much fun they had and Jesus thanks them and complements the food. Victoriana clears up right away that she can’t cook! Credit for the meal goes to Domi, Jesus says it’s nice that Domi is both a teacher and chef. Carlota says Domi is not a teacher and Emma says she isn’t a chef either - she doesn’t like the Tofu her sister made! Augusto wants to know more about the Guerreros and Domi points out how strange it is that they are all so different, they don’t seem like brothers. Emma can’t help commenting on Adrian every time his name is mentioned but quickly clarifies they aren’t friends. Jesus admits they are all very different, Sam is introverted, Damian is a rebel, and Adrian full of energy. Augusto confirms they are four brothers, right? He next asks about their parents, are they alive? But before Jesus can answer, Carlota intervenes and tells daddy to stop interrogating and let Jesus eat.

Victoriana wakes up alone she has a gift to prove she is the love of his life but Augusto isn’t there, he’s with a prostitute and he asks her to pretend she’s Lupe. Victoriana isn’t as easily appeased as some trophy wives and she throws the gift across the room, if she was the love of his life he’d be there with her.

In a really cute scene, Damian gives Jesus a hard time about being home that night since he was sure he would spend the night with Carlota. Samuel asks why Jesus wouldn’t sleep here, he lives here! And Damian tells Samuel how dates are supposed to end in kisses which end in the bed. Jesus clarifies that tonight was a friendly date and tells Sam you should go slow with women and get to know them, the kissing comes later. Jesus tells Damian to be serious because he’s going to confuse Sam; Damian says Sam’s a grown man he needs to know how things go. Jesus admits he had fun with Carlota and she is pretty. He likes Carlota because she is transparent and says what she thinks unlike Augusto who measures all of his words so carefully. He then moves on to Domi which makes Sam uncomfortable because Domenica is Buena!! (They should know this by now he's told them many times) But Jesus says Domi asked a bunch of questions that night and it’s obvious she’s suspicious of them. He’s not sure if she’s good or not but they need to be careful with her because she’s very astute.

Guerrero – Capitulo 9 parte 2 de 5

Carlota is going off on Domi because of her behavior at dinner too. She thinks she’s jealous because Jesus likes her and Domi was trying to make him look bad. Domi says she’s not, she just thinks the Guerreros are hiding something and Carlota should be careful. Carlota takes none of this to heart and just thinks Domi is a hypocrite who will get hers when Daddy finds out about her passport.

The guys are also talking about Domi’s passport, which Damian has shown his brothers. Damian says if she was deported it means that she did something bad. Even more reason not to trust her! They need to find out exactly what Domi did to get deported and they need to find out if she’s on the them. Damian offers to take care of it and Jesus isn’t sure…. Damian says don’t’ worry about me. She may be very pretty, but I know very well that Domi is just part of the plan; they one you should be worried about is him! He points to Sam. Jesus tells Sam to please listen to him, Sam needs to be careful with Domenica, she can’t to be trusted!

Jesus is talking to d. Abel about Domenica and he offers to look into what happened, it could be something very serious. Gabino Beltran calls and tells Jesus about the attempted kidnapping and all the questions the thugs asked about him. Fede is watching the shop on video!! He notices Don Abel is there in the shop. Jesus and d. Abel say goodbye outside the shop and Abel tells him to be careful. Abel is going to the city for a few days and hopes to return with info about Domenica. Jesus tells him to take it easy and d. Abel says that being able to walk is a pleasure at his age! (LOL) Jesus laughs too. Jesus thanks him for always taking care of him and Abel says knowing Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to him as he would be a sad lonely old man if they hadn’t met.

The ladies need flowers from the shop that is by the mechanic garage and Lupe is complaining to Mari that the only reason she doesn’t want to go is because she’s afraid to run into Jesus. Mari says that’s not true, she can’t go because she has to finish her test for school! Lupe says fine, she’ll go but she needs to change first. Mari wants to know if she’s changing because she might see Augusto? This confrontation leads Mari to admit she overheard the conversation last night and she wants to know if Augusto is her dad, but Lupe avoids the question and just reminds Mari that she knows that she doesn’t like to talk about that subject.

Lupe gets the flowers and as leaving but she steps down wrong and breaks a heel. Augusto spots her on the street and has his driver swoop in quickly, to offer her a ride. She tries to ignore him (which was kind of funny since he was in the middle of the road and there’s no pretending you don’t see that) Lupe tries to insist on walking on her broken heel but Augusto isn’t taking no for an answer.

Victoriana chatting with her accomplice about giving Lupe a lesson she won’t forget for daring to mess with her husband! Mica brings teas and the two continue chatting about the upcoming wedding her friend is planning and they laugh about how the ‘newly rich’ are. There’s only one problem, they don’t have anyone to provide the flowers!! Oh, and they want so many flowers! Vicky thinks she might know someone she could contact and her buddy leaves three business cards purposely in view of unwitting Mica who takes a card from the table as she cleans.

Guerrero – Capitulo 9 parte 3 de 5

Lupe talks to Augusto about Mica getting rehired and how much she sacrificed to do a good job, he tries to relate but she is offended! Augusto never sacrificed anything! He has his wife, his daughters, his money and house. Augusto says he sacrificed his life in the country for all of that and Lupe says she sacrificed more. They all would have been happier if they hadn’t left the country! Auggie tries to talk about Lupe’s financial situation here in the city but Lupe is again exasperated at him missing the point. She’s not talking about money! She makes a comment about of course he doesn’t know because she never told him, and Auggie wants to know, never told me what? But Lupe backs off and says nothing, forget it. She gets out of the car and insists again on walking, this time she doesn’t come back!

Damian and Sam are waiting for Valero who is spending too much time in the bathroom. They call Jesus to back them up. Valero finally comes out with a magazine and Jesus tells him to be more considerate and not use the bathroom for reading time, they are four men living together. Valero says Jesus is still in a bad mood again and it denies it, he just wants consideration for everyone. But Valero says of course you’re in a bad mood, you’re between two woman and that’s stressful! We understand. On the one hand, there’s the one you like more but she’s not useful for your plan, and on the other is the one you like less, but she is useful! Jesus tells him it’s none of his business and he doesn’t need therapy! LOL (Ya’ll I understood Valero!) Jesus starts to stalk off but Valero gets his attention telling him he might want to know Mari was here yesterday and saw him leaving with Carlota. Sam is losing patience and bangs on the door for Damian to come out, and when he does, Valero jokes about it being his turn again but Sam pushes him out of the way.

Isaia getting out of the hospital and claiming to Mari is glad to feel better and look he’s getting divorced! He shows her his pending divorce papers. Isaia begs Mari to tell him he has a chance but she says no. She’s sorry but she has to be honest; she just doesn’t feel the same way she used to. They agree (too quickly) to just be friends and seal it with a hug just as Jesus is arriving. Isaia asks Mari if she would like to go somewhere (I couldn’t hear where) and Mari agrees and leaves to go let abuela know she’s leaving. Isaia confronts Jesus in typical in your face, she’s mine and you aren’t going to take her from me speech and Jesus tells him not to mess with him. Isaia dives for Jesus and all he does is duck but Mari returns and Isaia claims he was attacked by Jesus. Jesus denies it but of course Mari doesn’t believe him after all the prior lies. She tells him to leave them alone.

Mica tells Lupe and Conchita all about the opportunity to provide the flowers for the upcoming wedding. Lupe calls and of course she is ‘hired’ for the job and she is excited and even more when she hears just how big the job is going to be and how much money they will make!!! Lupe quits her job for this amazing opportunity which will give her plenty of money to concentrate on her business.

Domi and Mari talk about what is needed for the event and Mari tells Domi not to worry about anything she’s on top of it. She hands Domi the info about the benefactor for the event and Domi is surprised to learn it’s her father but Mari thinks it’s only natural Don Augusto is such a wonderful man and he does a lot for the community. Domi has to agree she is proud of Auggie and he’s a great father too. Mari is embarrassed to bring this up but she has just one problem, she doesn’t have anything nice enough to wear to an event like this, does Domi have something she can borrow?

Guerrero – Capitulo 9 parte 4 de 5

Lupe, Conchita and Mari get to work buying flowers and they are having lots of luck everywhere. They get to one vendor who gives them an excellent price but just wants a little favor from Conchita. Her husband owes a little debt to Augusto and she’s wondering if Conchita can talk to him and get him to give them more time to pay since they don’t have the money to pay him back yet. Conchita would be happy to and Mari is sure Augusto will be very receptive to helping out since he’s such a great man! Lupe says her mother and daughter don’t know who Augusto truly is and when it comes to money he can be heartless!

Augusto calls Fede and is angry that his nephew doesn’t have answers yet, we see that his thugs now have D. Abel!!! They are trying to beat the truth about the Guerreros out of him!!! Abel stays silent.

Emma is practicing when her group and she once again pulls the hide me so I can take a shot move. We learn at least that her reason for hiding is because she doesn’t want to be treated differently because she’s sick or be pitied. She does say she will tell Adrian the truth because you can’t start a relationship with a lie. She and Adrian exchange flirting/competitive voicemails and they bet dinner on who will win. The girl in Adrian’s dance group sees the texts on Adrian’s phone and is distressed to realize Adrian does like Emma. Is that why he doesn’t want to get back together with her? Adrian tries to gently encourage her to move on, it’s over between them. Jesus and Damian show up at that moment with a surprise! Costumes for the whole group for the next competition.

Guerrero – Capitulo 9 parte 5 de 5

Domi and Sam are in their lesson and Sam is now reading full words (or at least one word, Pablo), tomorrow’s lesson is Q. Domi encourages him that he is a very quick learner and very soon he’ll be able to read whatever he wants. Domi asks about his homework and Sam says he will go get it but as he goes, he thinks back to his interactions with Domi and he just can’t fight his own instincts/conscious and he grabs Domi’s passport instead. He nervously returns to the office where she’s waiting and hands her the passport. Domi is shocked and wants to know where he got this and why he has it. Sam just says it was in his house and Domi wants to know what it was doing in his house. To Domi’s credit she quickly accepts the fact that Sam doesn’t know instead of insisting on answers and getting angry. Sam just says he knows that what it says isn’t true, Domenica is Buena! Domi thanks him for giving it back to her, he doesn’t know how much this means to her. She tells him Samuel is bueno and he tries to tell her he’s not – probably because he feels bad for going against his brothers; but she insists that he is and she feels like she can trust him. She hugs him and thanks him over and over again. Sam slowly hugs her back. Damian and Jesus walk in just in time to witness this.

Jesus and Damian are nowhere near as sensitive as Domi, as they interrogate Sam over his interaction with Domi. Why was he hugging her? What is going on? And WHY did he give her the passport back? Jesus says Domi can’t be Samuel’s teaching any longer, he will find him a reading teacher but it won’t be Domi. Damian accuses Samuel of only giving Domi the passport back in an attempt to win her over and Jesus berates his brother for not keeping his distance from Domi. They ask if he’s in love with Domi and Sam doesn’t answer but just hangs his head. Jesus tells Sam that this is serious. Domi isn’t his friend, she isn’t someone he can trust; she’s the daughter of their worst enemy and Samuel has to stay away from her!! He tells Damian to stay away too, and Valero rather hilariously asks what about me? Jesus says you too!

Domi is now burning her passport and Carlota comes in asking what she is doing; but she’s quickly transfixed by the flames and it’s clear she likes the fire too much!! She thinks back again to her mother…shushes Domi as she throws more things on the fire. Domi tries to stop her and Carlota goes full Car-loca!!! Throwing stuff and breaking dishes! Emma comes in and Vicky too yelling at the crazy one to get away from her daughters. Domi tries to defend Carlota saying she isn’t crazy, she’s sick; but I think she’s probably both. All through this argument Emma is clear panicking or having some sort of spell but no one seems to notice. When she finally does take note, I was shocked to see Vicky show actual concern and run to Emma.

Domenica gets an official notice from a judge, Augusto walks out of his office and overhears; what’s this about?

Jesus keeps trying to call Abel who doesn’t answer…we see he’s out cold and we hear Fede saying they went too far! He approaches Abel but he doesn’t stir. Is D. Abel dead?

Car-loca is now outside and seeing Mari arrive with a package for Domi. Mari is just there about work and the upcoming event but Carlota is seeing Mari with Jesus and isn’t hearing any excuses or reason! Our formerly funny villain takes a much less funny turn as she gets super aggressive with Mari, pushing and shoving her to punctuate her words as she warns her to stay away from Jesus! Mari is understandably scared as Car-loca goes as far as to put her hands around Mari’s neck and choke her!

Holy smokes, Darcy. I just did a Google Image search for “Nailed It” and a drawing of you came up…by Damián! That was superb!

It was cute when Dra. Dom diagnosed Emma’s infatuation/love as “severe.”

Did Jesús assume Dom was a teacher because of her working with Sam? I wasn’t sure. I’m glad he kept his cool when Augie asked if his parents were still alive. Even without knowing their true identity, that’s nerve!

Not surprised Vic was nonplussed with the bling bling gift while Augie is role playing at some sort of “massage parlor (?!!).” More darkness (and longing for Lupe) revealed.

The Bros quasi Sex Ed lesson with Sam was indeed cute - further setting up the Dom-Dam-Sam (DDS) triangle.

I’m glad Gabino Beltrán lived to advise Jesùs that they are being watched and investigated. Don Abel’s foreshadowing was hardly subtle, and I hope his stillness is only for cliffhanger purposes.

I was shocked when Mari DEMANDED the truth from Lupe about her ex and about her paternity. Before I could pop popcorn, Lupe shut it down way too conveniently.

Vic and her sidekick (Dial-a-Stereotype) were a cliche-a-minute; however, I wasn’t sure if the wedding was separate from their humiliation plan or not. Loved Vic referencing Los Corquera. Isn’t this a novela trope? Like folks dialing 555-1234 in movies. I will do more research on los tal Corqueras.

Somebody please say something about Dom’s green beret. I’m not a fashionista by any means, but I couldn’t get past it.

Emma’s shame makes more sense now (not wanting to be treated like an ill person/invalid) and I appreciated Mic urging her to just be honest.

So Belén is Adrián’s ex and still pines for him? Interesting. I like how he calls Jesús “Chucho.” Is that a common nickname for “Jesús?” For what it’s worth Chucho bought the dance outfits, and Damián picked the colors.

Car-loca! Wow. I bow at your brilliance. We knew it was coming. We were enjoying her antics. Then she doubles down with pyromania AND choking Mari. What the what?!!!

Meanwhile, some judge is sending notices? dun Dun DUN

Have a great weekend! See ya’ll Monday!!!

Guerrero,

Wow, thank you for that complement! Although I would not want a picture/drawing of me to actually show up in a google search (LOL) I appreciate the sentiment!

I can't take credit for the brillance of Car-loca though, that moniker was created on a different patio for a different character named Carlota that was also loca! I just borrowed it for here since it fit so well! All credit given to the originator of the nickname although I have absolutely no memory of whom that is. Lots of shows and recaps and comments have come and gone since then.

I'm guessing Jesus did actually think Domi was a teacher. Which isn't a logical jump in my mind. She's a neighbor helping out a neighbor, it never occurred to me that she would be an actual teacher. I think Jesus unfairly vilainizes Domi, and finding the passport just adds fuel to the fire! I can understand why her intelligence would be a threat to him but it's not a reason to accuse her of malice. There are a lot of irregularities in the Guerrero bunch and it's not surprising or suspicious that someone would notice and question it. Just the fact that Samuel can't read is a glaring red flag from the POV of someone who doesn't know the background. They are trying to be just the neighbors down the street - just the average Joe family; but if you're just an average family, why is one of your brothers illiterate and why does brother #4 live in an orphanage/group home?? Rather than attack Domi, Jesus should come up with a way to answer these questions and remove the question marks from his own family.

It actually really bugs me the way Jesus and Damian are so hard on Sam for being friends with Domi. I give Jesus credit for being genuinely concerned that Domi is could be hiding something and be dangerous for Samuel, but there are better ways to communicate it than simply yelling at your overwhelmed brother to stay away!! He knows very well what Sam has been through and how little he's known outside the ranch. Domi is probably one of his first friends and it's callous to just order him not to be friends with her. If he sat down and actually talked to his brother and listened to him they could come to an agreement they were both comfortable with - maybe. As it is, Sam is just ordered not to feel what he feels and he's uncomfortable and unsettled with the whole situation - which is hard to watch but being portrayed wonderfully by Christian. Speaking of talking - Sam could really use some professional help!! He needs a counselor AND an English teacher! It's clear from his trip back to the ranch to warn Tata that their are some serious conflicted feelings in that traumatized head.

I hear the nickname 'Chucho' frequently but I've never really paid attention to what it was a nickname for. I did my own google search however, and it says that it is indeed a common nickname for Jesus.

I liked the green beret but I am not a fashionista either.

Dial-a-Stereotype - is exactly right!!! But then Vic herself is a stereotype

Thank you, Darcy, your recap was extremely entertaining, especially the dinner scene at the Ruiz Montalvos. I was suprised it was only dinner time and the date was already over. They went to a club in the afternoon and there was no actual dinner after? Just the nasty peanuts? LOL
I didn't take Jesus' comment about Domi being a teacher as in the literal meaning, to me it sounded as if he was saying that she had many "hidden" qualities.

Carlota is starting to dial up the crazy, but I still find her fun to watch.

O.S. I noticed the Corqueras being mentioned, too!! They are the Kennedys of Mexico, like I said while commenting for another novela a while back, everybody who is anybody knows them!

Guerrero. First rate, incredibly detailed recap, Darcy! I too loved Car-loca, no matter who invented it. Yuck! Not only does Augusto have people killed, he frequents a prostitute. Is don Abel now dead thanks to Augusto? That is horrendous!

Guerrero. Oops! Mine seems to have been eaten!

SpanProf, I retrieved your comment from the Spam folder and it went back to where it should have been :-)

Guerrero Episode 10 part 1 of 2

Mari remembers how she was able to get rid of Carlota by running to her car. But she was so scared, she didn’t pay attention to her driving and got two flat tires, so now she has to wait at the shop, for the guys to fix her car. Valero is happy to help.

Mari calls Isaia, who is with his family, so he doesn’t answer.

Domenica tells Augusto he had a big problem with the airline company, but can’t give all the details, because Victoriana arrives with Emma, who feels bad.

Valero arrives with the news that someone needs a mechanic, that someone is Mariluz. Jesus goes running, but Mari doesn’t need his help. Jesus can’t believe she’s still with Isaia, so they just agree to go their separate ways. Lupita calls and while Mari is on the phone, Jesus realizes she has to be at the flowers market for a job and offers to help again. He can even take her to the market while Valero and Damian fix her car. Deal!

At the market some light flirting happens, the florist lady thinks they are dating because it shows they are in love. And she also asks for Conchita’s help with Augusto again, she and some other small business owners need more time before they can pay him back. Mari promises to help.

Later Jesus asks for more details from the florist, wants to know when she and the other people indebted to Augusto will meet.

Mari thanks Jesus for his help. He offers her a sunflower, she’s just like that, too, always searching for the light. Mari loves sunflowers, they make her feel happy

Sam’s teacher has arrived and she is severe, rude and unlikable ….. Jesus is unhappy with her, doesn’t plan to keep her.

Domenica is tending to Emma. Adrian sends her a message and she calls him – he invites her at a party, but she can’t go. He decides he’s going to see her.

Domenica is checking out Damian from her room. He’s smoking in his usual place, and she closes her window. He wonders if she’s an angel or a demon. She gets another call from Iker and this time she answers – she blames him for her legal troubles and says she will tell her father all about it.

The doctor says Emma is alright. Victoriana was worried for a second, but now she has a massage scheduled. She runs into Adrian outside and throws him out. Damian sees him and Adrian tells him he won’t use Emma for their vengeance, but he plans to find information about Augusto from her. Damian promises not to tell Jesus about his plan.

Augusto fights with Victoriana over Carlota. Nobody has seen her ever since she caused Emma’s crisis, but there she is, she comes running into her father’s arms.
Adrian and Emma chat on video and then Adrian reads to her from his book until she falls asleep. Domenica is there to tuck her in.

Damian wonders about Domenica, too. She seems so good, but she could be a criminal. Jesus realizes he likes her, but Damian refuses to accept this, since they have to use her as part of the plan. As Sam listens to them, Damian says they need to be careful with their younger brother, because he likes Domenica a lot. And Jesus is a problem, too, since he likes Mari more than Carlota.

Carlota is afraid Jesus will find out she is sick, but Augusto promises never to tell him. How she wishes she was normal, why is this happening to her?
Mari is telling Conchita and Lupe who attacked her, it wasn’t Isaia’s ex-wife, it was another crazy woman.

Guerrero Episode 10 part 2 of 2

Augusto asks Fede to prepare everything for a Vegas trip with the family. He’s upset because apparently Fede went too far with Abel, they were only supposed to scare him and get some information out of him. Fede assures him they will cover their tracks, while some guys behind him are burying a body.

Emma and Adrian are preparing for their dance competition. And it’s the big day of the gala. Mari and Domenica hope they will gather a lot of money and Domenica would like Mari to be with her tonight. She brought a dress Mari can borrow.

Victoriana doesn’t want Emma to go to the contest, she’s not healthy enough yet. Augusto who barely pays any attention to them, asks Victoriana to allow Emma to go.

Jesus and Damian talk about Augusto’s deals and how his daughters have no clue what he’s doing for work. Jesus wants to help the small business owners, but for this he needs Abel and he hasn’t had any news from him recently.

Carlota arrives and wants Jesus to go with her at the gala, even if their siblings will be in competing teams.

Emma is doing a video live and Adrian hurts himself while trying to avoid to run into her with his board. Emma offers to compete in Adrian’s place and the other girl from the group reluctantly teaches her how to dance hip hop.

It’s night time and Mari is in charge of assigning the seats. She sees Jesus arrive with Carlota, and is not happy about it. She fantasizes about Jesus saying in front of everyone that she is the one for him. Domenica welcomes the entire family, too. Mari asks Augusto to talk to Conchita later. Damian kisses Domenica’s hand, he missed her this week. He tries to remember himself that getting close to her is only part of their plan.

Domenica is happy Sam can read the name of the gala. Jesus keeps looking at Mari, while Carlota says can’t wait to dance with him. Mari is sad to look at the happy couple together, even Domenica realizes something is off with her. When she mentions Jesus is Carlota’s novio Domenica says no way, she wishes! This leaves Mari even more confused.

Domenica introduces the dance competition, but before that, a big round of applause for their greatest benefactor, who gets a big Reconocimiento for his good deeds. It’s Augusto, of course, and he joins Domenica on stage. Jesus leaves Carlota’s table and goes to sit with his brothers. Fede gets a call from someone telling him that Domenica can’t get into the US.
The guys who owe Augusto money arrive now to ask for his help, and of course he can’t say no in front of such a big audience. Damian is happy with Jesus’ idea to force Augusto’s hand.
But Augusto is furious, he asks Fede to find out who put these guys up to this, Fede doesn’t have the time to tell him about Domenica.

Emma is still practicing, tells Adrian she feels great. But one of the guys comes to say that they have to do the dance with the team members they have registered, or else they will be disqualified.

Lupe agrees with Conchita that Jesus is a great guy, but he’s involved with someone else, they can’t encourage Mari to fantasize about him.

Mari goes outside and Jesus follows in spite of Damian’s warnings. He wants to tell her she is beautiful. And when he will be free, nothing will keep them apart. She wants to leave, almost falls, but Jesus catches her in his arms and they start kissing. He stops her briefly, “you shouldn’t have”, he says, then they get back to more kissing. It’s in slow motion, so you know it’s true love.
