Thanks, Darcy! You’re welcome, Adriana.
I didn’t make many notes during last night’s episode. Darcy magnificently captured all the action. We are swimming in telenovela tropes (teen pregnancy, wrong-daddy pregnancy, deadbeat daddy, etc.). If it weren’t for the great actors, I couldn’t watch this mess.
Carloca once again really delivered. Her crazy eyes while googling Pregnancy Tips and then her actual head stand!!! Her don’t-touch-me @ Sleep Camp was powerfully disturbing. They must be clipping scenes because I too thought the sleep therapy would occur at the house.
When Mommy Dearest was scrounging for cash, I thought she might find the pregnancy test (again, Trope-a-Rama)! Instead we got comic relief with her scoffing at the available monies and eventual public confession.
I am not familiar with the Elisa actress, but the character has much potential. I can’t wait to see where they’re taking us.
Federico doesn't have to worry about being caught with Vic - he'll offer to "follow" her and report back to Augusto, after all, he'll "do anything for his tio." Heck, Augie will probably DEMAND that he do so! Lol
**NOTE: This is the lovely Adriana’s recap, I am just posting it for her!
We get a repeat of Vicky’s apology. Once home, Augie gives her back her credit cards and Vicky doesn’t forget to whine about the fact the he forced her to humiliate herself in front of that woman. And now she’s going shopping with HIS car. So there! Lesson NOT learned!
Mari, ever so innocent (I meant to say stupid), is happy Vicky apologized. But Lupe is no fool (she just raised one), she knows what Lupe did will make them lose their house, since nobody will hire them now. Mari gives them the good news that daddy Celestino will get a job with Jesus, but Lupe is still not happy. She wants them to move far away from the Montalvo family. I’m with Lupe on this.
Later Lupe does get another pozoles order. Joy all around.
Jesus eavesdrops on Fede and Augie again. They still have no clue about the Sanchez brothers. Bohoo! Then Jesus makes his presence known, Augie asks for his help with the land problem he’s been having. He has to leave now, but Fede will explain him everything, but he needs to go search for something first. Alone in the office, Jesus sends a text to Damian, to follow Augie, he might be going to see their mother. Dam is in the middle of talking with Sam about being with Domenica the night before, Sam saw them. What about their pact? When he gets the text, he leaves in a hurry.
Fede explains to Jesus that they need his help to protect Augie’s life in the meeting he has planned with the leader of the land owners (might have gotten this part wrong).
Dam is following Augie.
Mari doesn’t want to leave the region, granny doesn’t either. She urges Mari to focus on her exams, she will talk to Lupe, try to change her mind about moving. Isaia sends a text cancelling their date. Conchita doesn’t trust him, thinks Mari should send him packing. Once again Mari proves she’s useless, by still doubting.
Isaia is with his wife at the bus stop, she is asking for money for food. They get into it for a bit, then he manages to send her away. Mari and Conchita are following him, but he’s already alone now, Mari is certain he was just working. They go to say hello, he pretends like he usually does. When he leaves, the wife gets back and she gets to chatting with Mari, who calls her the “ex”. But she makes it clear they are still married, and here are Isaias babies, too! The wife then goes running for her husband, while Mari prefers to just leave and remove herself from an uncomfortable situation.
Augie confronts the guy he’d sent to kill Elisa. El Surdo says he saw her in the exploding car, he was sure she’d died. Augie needs him to remember all the details about that day, because she is not dead.
Emma needs for Mica to cover for her while she goes to see Adrian. She will tell everyone she is with Renata, she even has a recording of her talking to her friend, and she will play it in her room. Long story short, she manages to escape and see Adrian, who brought her candy. Emma is worried because Vicky has become even more rigid with her, but she missed him so much, she needed to see him. Adrian asks if she feels OK, but she pretends everything is fine.
**NOTE: This is the lovely Adriana’s recap, I am just posting it for her!
Valero is crying while watching a novella, is he an undercover Caray recapper? He and Sam watch the love declaration on TV, Sam gets the idea to use music in his love quest with Domenica.
Emma and Adrian are at the party, having fun. He wants to take care of her, asks if she’s tired, she assures him she is OK. That other guy, what’s his name, tells Renata he can’t stand Adrian, he plans to prove to him he doesn’t belong. When he finds Emma alone, he tells her she’d have a much better time with him, puts some drops in her water when she’s not watching. In the meantime, Adrian is taking a beating from some other guys.
Soon enough Emma gets dizzy, tries to talk to Renata, who doesn’t realize something is wrong with her. But the nasty guy does, he takes her away to “take care of her”. Adrian sees them and goes to fetch Emma, who collapses into his arms.
Isaia actually has the nerve to come see Mari. Lupe is kind of scolding him (barely), when Mari shows up. He wants to talk to her, but Conchita arrives with a bat and chases him out. Then Lupe apologizes to Mari for pushing her into that man’s arms, she did it out of love, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for her. Group hug with Conchita.
Adrian and Renata take Emma home, she doesn’t understand what happened, she just drank some water. Mica and Renata take her inside the house, where Domenica sees her.
The brothers and Valero talk about hiring Celestino and making him feel comfortable. Yes, Jesus wants to help Mari, he’s hurt her a lot with all the Carlota deal. They all wonder where she is right now, they don’t really believe she took a spiritual retreat. Damian asked a pal to investigate El Surdo, even if he doesn’t know where their mom is, either.
Augie plans to keep searching for Elisa, too. Maybe in art schools or galleries, someone has to have some information about her. Then they talk about the land problems, Jesus thinks he’s in danger, especially if Augie finds out he was the one to help the land owners.
Celestino is up to no good, he actually steals some money from a wallet he finds on the table in Lupe’s house.
Vicky asks her lawyer that all of her father’s belongings be in her name. But that can’t be done, because her father left Augie a power of attorney over his estate. The lawyer has to look into it.
Lupe is upset Mari found a job for Celesito, he is taking advantage of their deal. Heriberto thinks she shouldn’t get so upset, doesn’t get Lupe’s rambling about Celestino not being able to be Mari’s dad. Lupe is frustrated with all the confusion, does she really deserve all of this? Heriberto hugs her, but then she moves away, finally tells Heriberto that she and Celestino never had sex. But when he showed up again, she didn’t have any other option but to say Mari was his daughter.
**NOTE: This is the lovely Adriana’s recap, I am just posting it for her!
Mari takes Celestino to the mechanic shop, where he pretends to be all humble and willing. Jesus receives him with open arms. Then Mari thanks him oh so much!
Celestino gets frightened he has to wear a dead guy’s uniform. Damian will have to teach him about mechanic, since he has no clue about it.
Later the guy pretends to slip and fall, injuring himself badly. He makes a fuss about it, somehow Valero gets the blame for it.
Lupe brought some pozoles for a neighbor. And she can even take credit card payments. LOL Product placement break … FFW…
Emma feels badly, she has a hard time remembering what truly happened the other night. She is upset Adrian treats her like a sick person because of her diabetes. Domenica thinks she should talk to him about this. And she can’t promise not to tell their parents, her health is at risk.
Adrian has some bruises after the beating, his lady friend points out all he has to go through because he’s dating Emma (kind of has a point). Later she talks with their other pals about helping Adrian get rid of Emma’s bad influence. Then the girl makes a live calling Emma Montalvo an alcoholic, an awful influence for everyone. This makes most of Emma’s followers send her hate messages.
Domenica and Damian are in her room, she wonders if she should tell her parents about Emma. Then he kisses her all over the face, they are cute. But they are both worried about Sam, should they continue keeping him in the dark? Damian wants to tell him, but Domenica is afraid of Sam and her family’s reaction. In the meantime, Sam is preparing to serenade Domenica.
Vicky gives Fede Augie’s hair and some blood (?) I didn’t get the scene, maybe someone can fill in the gaps.
Jesus asks Augie about Carlota, while gazing at Mari, who is tending to her flowers. Augie says his daughter is Ok, but doesn’t miss the moment Mari and Jesus share from afar.
The mariachis arrive to serenade Domenica, but they actually get inside the house (no singing outside the balcony then?) The guys start singing when Vicky comes down. Sam arrives too, telling them to stop, since she’s not his Domenica (LOL), which is all for the better since Vicky is already in hysterics over the noise. Sam has one single rose for Domenica, but he hides it when Vicky wants to throw him out. Domenica comes downstairs and Sam asks the mariachis to start singing, and he gives her the rose. Domenica looks heart broken, can’t even look at him.
Thank you Adriana for your fantastic recap! I love your humor as always!
'Mari, ever so innocent (I meant to say stupid), is happy Vicky apologized. But Lupe is no fool (she just raised one)' cracked me up!! These women are certainly good people but they are definitely leaning heavily on the naïve side of life!!
I am glad Isaia is good and caught now. Hopefully now he can exit stage left!! I love when Conchita goes after people with a bat or her fist, or whatever's at hand. She is so funny in mama bear mode!!
The scene with Sam and Valero and the telenovela was cute as all Sam/Valero scenes are but I had a bad feeling it was giving Sam bad ideas. It must be so hard for him. He was the one to tell Damian that Domi loved him but it's like one day he knows it's over and the next he has hope again. I gotta say, as bad of an idea as it was Sam looked adorable standing their with his one rose and his misplaced optimism.
O.T., Gabriela Spanic (Elisa) is known for bringing the drama!! I'm sure she will be entertaining!
O.S.: Good Job on the recap of this afternoon's episode. Teen pregnancy storyline ?
What could possibly go wrong ? 😕
Steve Boudreaux
¡Hola, Patio!
Hey, Steve Boudreaux!
Darcy & Adriana are the true recappers. I just throw up some notes and observations. I promise I am not Valero (now revealed to be a telenovela junkie). LOL
All the Emma action was Beanie material. Smug Rodrigo spiking her drink was dumb and totally unrealistic and cliche. But wait, there’s more. Next, a posting from a little known orphan is enough to turn her legion of fans against her overnight?!? I hope this is a double PSA for teen pregnancy and social media. Stay away from both!
I was surprised (but should have known) Celestino turned out to be a deadbeat. Both he and Isaías should exit stage left immediately. Neither would be missed.
Mommy Dearest, Fede, and the Ziploc®️ bags’ scene was a head scratcher. It was not clear at all. Somehow the hair and blood is going to make Augi return her inheritance. Is Univision getting choppy with the scenes again?
Love Sam. Poor Sam. …and I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get any more headstands from Carloca.
O.S. thank you for reminding me! Vicky and the blood and the zip lock bags she’s doing a DNA test! She’s trying to confirm her suspicion that Mari is indeed Augi’s daughter. Why/how that will get her inheritance back idk! I am guessing she figures Augi will turn on Lupe when he finds out she lied about his baby all these years??
What telenovela were Valero and Sam watching? I was worried Rodrigo would rape Emma. Emma might not like how Adrian is treating her, but given the fact she doesn't take care of her own health all that well, I'm not surprised. I thought diabetics can't eat sweets?
Even Conchita seemed to think they shouldn't leave the house. I mean, surely she knows what Victoriana is like? But somehow she was the one who mentioned Victoriana offered to rent her the house at a lower price than she had to pay before. I thought she was the reasonable one here. At leastMari now won't marry that 'soquete' (that's what Conchita keeps calling him and I am not sure what this means and if I spelled it right).
Sam actually saved money to book those serendading guys...I wanted to cry when I heard this.Damian won't get Sam's sincerity even if he lived a hundred years. Romance in this telenovela feels so badly done somehow. Conchita and Don A were more interesting in one scene than all these other couples put together.
So does augusto somehow expect that guy with whom he is doing business will murder Jesus instead of him? I believe Augusto is now in trouble because his 'steal the land' business fell through. But it's not like murdering Jesus will be of any use to that guy.
Why do silly girls (and some women) think their ex (Adrian) will come running back to them if they humiliate the current girlfriend? Delusional much?
"Soquete" is a word for "mud" but I don't know in what context Conchita is applying it to Isaias.
Domi has the unfortunate duty of turning down Sam’s sweet serenade. Damian finds out about Sam’s serenade when Mica calls to inform Valero of the scene. Sam also has a letter for Domi too which he gives her after they leave her house and go to the shop. When he concludes that Domi doesn’t like it, he thinks he wrote it wrong and offers to write it again. Damian arrives on the scene and Sam’s heart breaks even more as he finally learns Domi and Damian are together. Sam runs out of the shop and Domi wants to follow but Damian advises her to give him some time and he’ll talk to him later after he calms down. Domi feels horrible for hurting Sam and Damian does too, why did they have to like the same girl?
Sam goes on a long ride with Pinto and finds a tree to sit under and cry as he remembers the words of Domi and Damian.
Vicky rails at Emma for every mistake she’s made and gives her no chance to say so much as a word. She also tells Emma she saw the new video and once again Emma is an embarrassment to the family. Since she’s on a roll she also goes off on Augi for his poor decisions in trusting those mechanics who now feel the freedom to approach his daughters. Augi points out that everyone knows Carlota and Jesus are dating but Vicky says that isn’t Jesus, it’s Sam (she called him something more derogatory but I am calling him by name) serenading Domi. Augi isn’t concerned. Domi isn’t interested in Sam and she’s more than capable of letting him know that.
It’s race day and most of the cast is there watching the race but Domi and Emma are at home, either watching on TV or watching a movie as they snuggle up together. The team wins they race and all are thrilled!
The Garcia’s are actually packing to move! Mari tries to study but is distracted by thoughts of Jesus. Celestino is at home bugging everyone as he pretends to be hurt and unable to work. Mari talks about how Celestino is headed back to work tomorrow. Villalba is on to Celestino and he finally tells Lupe she needs to chase that dude off because he’s a professional imposture. Lupe doesn’t doubt Villalba but she feels like her hands are tied because she can’t tell the truth in this moment. Villalba says the truth is going to come out sooner or later and when better than now, in order to save them from this joker? Villa says if Lupe doesn’t tell the truth, he will!
Valero has decided what Sam needs is a boxing bag to take out his frustrations on so he doesn’t go around hitting more people. (Darcy still thinks he needs therapy) It’s a funny scene as Valero shows Sam how to use the bag, and I’m reminded that these two are still the best couple in the show! Damian arrives though and tries to encourage Sam to keep punching at get it out, which ruins the vibe because Sam is still upset with Damian and he quickly devolves into Sam walking out once again. Jesus sees the brothers fighting again and is fed up. They need to stop this; they are brothers and this has to come first!! Damian is upset that things are like they are but he tells Jesus that he loves Domi and she loves him, he’s not going to give her up just because Sam doesn’t know how to lose.
Domi and Augi talk about Emma but on this point Augi is unwilling to contradict the wicked witch. Augi talks about what a good sister Domi is and even tells her the truth about where Carloca is. Domi promises not to tell anyone and Augi gives her kudos for being willing to put her sisters before even her own wellbeing and forgive Carloca once again! Domi promises to make Carlota feel welcomed when she returns tomorrow.
Carloca doesn’t look much recovered as she gives the help nothing but attitude while leaving the ranch but she is all smiles at home and full of demonstrative love for one and all. She apologizes to Domi and says she loves her – Domi forgives her of course. She hugs Emma and even Vicky who grimaced hilariously! Carlota says she feels like a whole new person, I’ll believe it when I see it!
Adrian is trying to be a mechanic again?? Jesus makes sure Adrian is prepared to enter college. Jesus is willing to support him with Emma and whatever else but he wants him to go to school. Be a lawyer, be a mechanic, I don’t care but I want you to study. Adrian agrees.
Valero interrupts to give Jesus the good/bad news that Carloca has returned and he also mentions she was at the ranch. Here we learn the only thing Celestino is good for, he knows about the Finca and employees who worked there back in the day like Lupe and Adrian’s mom, who is Emilia. We learned specifically that Emilia was always afraid of Augi and Vicky. He guesses she knew some secrets but never told anyone what they were. I had a hard time following but I think Celestino said that Emilia’s sister-in-law (who would have been Elisa) was rumored to have had an affair and have taken off with the other man but then years later they heard she died in a car crash. Celestino says that the fear and the threats Emilia lived under pretty much drove her crazy and she just disappeared one day. We see a flashback of Fede leading Miss Emilia somewhere very roughly and they should have used a different lackey for this because it had to have been roughly 20 years ago and Fede would have been a young teenager at best then – also he doesn’t look a day younger in that flashback. Adrian gets too upset during this conversation and the Guerreros try to get him to calm down to not give away his relationship to Emilia.
Carloca arrives at the shop and tries to get Jesus to say that he missed her but he hides behind fake hurt that she didn’t return any of his messages. Carloca wants to go out tonight but he has to go out with daddy that night to his ‘meeting’. Carloca rolls her eyes but says nothing.
Fede is still on the you shouldn’t take Jesus train but Augi is determined to confirm for sure if he can count on Jesus.
Renata tells Emma she can’t talk to her because her parents forbade her – they think Emma is a bad influence!! LOL Adrian is dodging Emma too because the more he learns about his mom the harder it hits him that he’s dating the daughter of the people who ruined his mom’s life. He loves Emma but he’s confused. Without friends, followers or her boyfriend Emma decides if everyone thinks she’s an alcoholic maybe she is! She grabs a bottle of Vodka from the self.
Mari loses her job at the flower stand because even though her boss believes she’s innocent of attacking Carloca the people still think she did it and it’s affecting business. Business is business, what can he do? Mari takes her finally pay and leaves just in time to hear Damian return desperately calling for Jesus. He’s worried that tonight is a trap and Jesus’s life is in danger. Jesus has already left and Damian decides to go after him, Sam and Mari go too! Vallero wanted to go too but no one waited for him.
The meeting is taking place in some old creepy looking abandoned building and the baddie is armed, Fede and Jesus try to talk Augi out of this trap but Augi isn’t willing to let his pride suffer. Somehow the three would be rescuers went straight to the building and argue loudly but no one hears. The talk doesn’t last long before bullets fly and Jesus pushes Augi out of the way and takes a bullet himself when he’s distracted by Mariluz screaming out ‘Jesus!’ (I don’t know about you but if I was trying to not let Augi know about my feelings for Jesus, I probably wouldn’t follow him to a gun fight Augi was present at and scream out his name like a grieving wife; just a thought!) The brothers and Mari gather around Jesus assuring him everything is going to be alright. They’ll take him to the hospital and they’ll get through this together just like Jesus always says, he isn’t going to die. They pick up Jesus and carry him off, Augi and Fede follow. Oh, and the bad guy is dead dead dead! Augi tells Mari this was a trap and no one can know what happened, it’d be dangerous for Jesus.
Drunk Emma laments being alone as always and gets a message showing her friends out partying as always. She gets the very bad idea to sneak out by tying sheets together and scaling the building. In real life drunk Emma would be very very hurt by this, but this is novelaland and she makes it just fine and just in time to make her next bad decision: She gets behind the wheel and drives away!
At the hospital, Damian and Sam are by Jesus’s side encouraging him and telling him to hold on but the nurses make them stay outside as Jesus is wheeled into Emergency. Damian turns on Augi saying how this is all his fault, facing him with barely constrained rage. Sam puts in his two cents too but Augi insists that this was a trap and Jesus saved his life! Now he’s going to do the same for Jesus, no matter what he costs he’s going to make sure Jesus lives through this.
¡Hola, Patio!
Darcy, way to report all the action in this very busy episode!!!
It was hard to watch our favorite Sam thinking he wrote that sweet letter wrong and offering a rewrite.
I loved how Augi was not concerned by Mommy Dearest’s serenade histrionics and trusts Domi’s instincts intrinsically. He goes to bathe while MD sarcastically says, “Let’s go downstairs and sing and play drums.”
I’m getting more and more fascinated by Augi’s hair, perdóname. In this scene, it’s unremarkable. Later on, it will be a formidable fortress which (real or not) is on point. The hair team is not consistent with Augi’s locks.
When Celestino got called out for putting chicharrón in the guacamole, I rolled my eyes. Little did I know he’d later provide crucial details for our backstory (again, captured magnificently by Darcy).
We’re 35 episodes in, and Villalba finally said something coherent and relevant to the story. I hope he backs up his threat (to reveal the truth).
I can’t speak for the patio, but I think the reigning candidates for Corazón Guerrero’s favorite couple are:
Sam y Valero
Sam y Pinto
Valero y Mica
Damián y Doménica
Conchita & her oar/bat/fists (weapons of attack)
…well, those are mine anyway. Too bad we can’t do a poll.
The punching bag scene was very well-written and acted. Sam’s frustration and Damián’s defense of his intentions were portrayed magnificently. Jesús, as a mediator, was powerful. Neither brother did anything wrong. Despite the hurt feelings, they must remain united.
When Mica walked into breakfast and announced Carloca had arrived, Augi’s reaction was priceless. He drops his fork uand asks why didn’t anyone tell him? The ensuing love/hug fest was fun to watch. Everyone’s uneasiness was masterpiece theatre. Icing on the cake: Carloca sitting on Augi’s lap and helping herself to his asparagus omelette.
Fede not only is ageless (in flashbacks), he remains the voice of reason regarding everything Augi (except form his relationship with Mommy Dearest)!
We haven’t talked about Fuego (Adrián’s dog) in a while. Cute dog. I wish he’d ruff some sense into Adrián: lose that ridiculous earring.
Is that Peste (chopping it up with Damián)? I ask because it’s the best/worst telenovela name ever, and it may further our story Dow the line.
I was elated upon the return of Crispín, dueño of “Say It w/Flowers,” but confused by his logic of firing Mari despite her valid defense. It all made sense soon. This allowed her to join the mecánicos’ quest to save Jesús. Why’d they leave Valero? LOL
Augi & Co. show up to meet Chato. Augi’s coif gets 5 stars in these scenes. Shootout ensues.
Not sure where our PSAs are going. Be neglected. Be diabetic. Be (probably) pregnant - but yet drunkenly and masterfully scale a wall, commandeer a car, and run amok.
Thanks O.S. I like your nominations for favorite couple!!! I am voting Sam y Valero as I've said a few times!
Yes, it was Peste and Damian talking. I omitted that scene because I forgot to take notes of it and by the time I was posting the recap I forgot what exactly they said! LOL I didn't have time to go back and re-watch. I think - and I could be very wrong - that the gist of that was Peste found out it was Augusto who was putting word out on the street that he would pay for information on the whereabouts of the Sanchez brothers. Which Damian seemed oddly struck by, I mean that should have been pretty obvious. But I think that is why Damian was so insistent on following Jesus to the meeting, he was afraid Augi knew who Jesus really was and was setting a trap to get him killed.
I find Augi's relationship with Carloca slightly odd, they seem a little too-close. It might just be the chemistry between the actors though.
Thanks SpanProf! I have the hardest time watching Emma struggle! Maybe it’s because the character is so sweet and innocent or because she has absolutely no one in her corner; her parents ignore her, her ‘best friend’ is a joke, one sister is psychotic and the other truly cares about her but is wrapped up in her own drama, her boyfriend is a nice guy but with his own drama. Maybe it’s just that the actress is so good at being vulnerable but it’s cringey watching her suffer! She doesn’t seem like type who would struggle with alcohol. It would be easier to watch if she had more edge or attitude! Lol
