Destilando Amor, 09/28/07: MINE'S BIGGER THAN YOURS!
It's school daze with Dr. Dazzle competing against the Mescal Manic de Montalvo. The two rivals look at each other in the hotel lobby and Alonso breaks the silence first. "Go for a drink?" "Yeah. Let's go." Rod and Alonso make their way to the bar while Gavi gets situated in her room.
After squaring off about the chairs, Alonso tells Rod they've got a problem and its name is Aaron Montalvo. He complains that Aaron has become a headache for Gavi and that he has been purposely, pointedly rude and especially aggressive towards her, actually the both of them. Additionally he has spoken pejoratively about his tequila with the visitors. (I love the way this guy casually throws out these $4 words like others sling the 4-letter kind.) Alonso explains he's worried about the reputation of both the CRT and Rodrigo, but especially Gavi's.
"Aaron is harming you both and I don't like it at all. He is insisting that she will not be allowed to enter the hacienda. If she's refused the trip will be canceled. I'm holding off making any decision till I get your opinion." "--I am the only one who gives orders at Montalveña. Anything else?" Alonso continues that he believes Aaron's been sabotaging Rod's new tequila with the prospective clients and Rod is not surprised. "Look," Alonso says. "it's my job to protect the interests of the CRT and of the tequila producers, and that would include you."
Rod is impatient and rude again. "--Anything else?" (For a guy who needs all the help he can get from Santoveña's department, Rod doesn't realize how lucky he is he has such a consummate professional like Alonso. I ask you, how many of us would take that kind of grief from a business associate and not just lose it after a couple of drinks, hmmm?)
Alonso continues that he wants to clear up all the apparent misunderstandings so that the three of them might be better able to work without any unnecessary stress. Rod, though, tells him, man-to-man, that the only real problem between them is that Alonso happens to be interested in the same woman, the woman that Rod loves.
Upstairs in her room Gavi is putting away her bags and settling in. On her bedstand she notices a second orchid and it has a card from Rod:
satisfactorily distinguishable from amongst the others. It is, the same as you, unique.
Today I am celebrating more than ever the fact you are alive and are near me.
-- Happy Birthday, Rodrigo."
Back down in the bar Rod gripes to Alonso. "Not only are you interested in the same woman, but you're falling in love with her, right?" Alonso interrupts to object to discussing their personal problems and to suggest they simply put an end once and for all to these types of "occurrences" for Gaviota's sake. "--Occurrences?? I'd say more like 'groping' ! Sure, I'd like to put an end to it all, but how can I not be jealous when I phone Miss Franco and find you there in her room?"
Alonso frowns and tries to explain that it was all a mistake, but Rod doesn't want to hear it. "One mistake after another after another..." "--Look, I'm not arguing with you about this. I just want you to know that this morning there was another incident." He explains how earlier in the morning he stopped by Gavi's room to wish her a happy birthday, that the door was specifically open, but that Aaron just happened to pass by and now was insinuating that he and Gavi spent the night together when nothing of the sort took place.
Rod jumps on this. "Well, it seems you had good reason to want to speak to me in such a hurry. You figured I'd hear your version first instead of my cousin's!" Alonso defends himself and shoves it right back at Rod and tells him what's what. "I don't have the slightest desire to justify myself to you! The only thing worrying me is that Gaviota might do her job undisturbed, that the guests are satisfied with their stay and that businessmen such as yourself might have the chance to sell your tequila! So, stop tormenting us with your jealousy and understand that there is nothing going on between us and nothing has happened. I am aware there is a relationship between you two, but she and I have done nothing. If you don't believe me, then you should believe her!"
Rod won't take no for an answer, but then, he has Alonso's number. "Perhaps you're right. But I do know that you're pursuing her." "--If you think I'm hounding her, I'm not!" "--Oh, no, because you're more subtle. Very suave. Very particular. Like the little hanky for every time she spills a tear; the shoulder to support her when she's overburdened, or the helping hand you lend her. You are counting on lots of time and luck, the luck that has evaded me these past three anxiety-filled years pursuing her, fighting for her love."
Rod goes in close and looks Alonso dead in the eye. "I've encountered all sorts of obstacles, all kinds of them! But, you, the only obstacle you have is me, the man that she loves. You have come at a very difficult moment for Gaviota. You have known how to be patient, how to smother her with nice gestures and so on." He bangs his fist on the table, resolute. "But it's like this: I'm not going to be kept from her love; and even though you and I make all sorts of pacts you're not going to avoid me still fighting for her love until we are happy together."
Alonso is still frowning. He does all he can to swallow and count to ten before he answers. "You have every right to do as you please. As far as I'm concerned, in the name of the CRT as well as my own, I want her birthday to be a happy one, so stop pressuring her and questioning her. I would be eternally greatful." "--All right. You're right. I'll do my part." Alonso offers to drink on it and Rod grudgingly agrees.
Gavi calls Dani and tells her about Rod's surprise arrival in Guadalajara so she wouldn't have to spend her birthday alone. Gavi is also adamant that Rod understands there is absolutely nothing going on between her and her boss. Dani warns her that her brother is impatient having to wait these last few months and his jealousy is driving him mad. She is afraid that it might cause problems, so Gavi should be especially careful and show him just how much she cares for him.
Gavi says then she's only left with two options: either be turned into his mistress while overlooking his wife and child or to quit her job and sit patiently by till he sorts out his family's financial mess with the Duartes. She is not about to do either. Dani tries to explain to Gavi that for Rod, it is difficult to know she's working all day long next to such a charmer like Alonso Santoveña. He could really end up in an insane asylum if things don't progress like they should and Dani is really worried. Gavi tells her not to joke about it like that.
(Ok, ok, ok. Even I have finally reached the point of no return with Rod's jealous rages, his childish tantrums and brutish insults, even his literally tracking her every move. This is in a wholey different universe from Tracy and Hepburn or Thin Man movies with "Nick and Nora Chase". Gavi's been walking a mental tightrope all week and I'm wincing right along with her. In fact, the hubster commented that by the time this trip is over Gavi will be calling Isadora up and beggin' her to keep his sorry rear!! --Nope, Rod's situation has gone beyond cute or the romantic, has rushed well past boorish and cannot adequately be covered in 'Can This Relationship Be Saved?', having now crossed over somewhere into the suffocatingly oppressive.)
Unfortunately for Dani, Elvis has walked in on her conversation and overhears her glowing assessment of Alonso Santoveña. Suddenly he becomes jealous. He tells her that he hopes Gavi and Rod get back together so Santoveña will be free for her. He's not sticking around to see it. Good-bye and have a nice life.
=========
Aaron pops into the bar and sits down with them while giving backhanded compliments to Alonso's ability to mend fences and handle "professional" relations. Then he gets down to the business of Mariana Franco's visit to Montalveña. Before Rod can get a word in, Aaron reminds Rod that although he inherited Montalveña, he is also one of Don Amador's grandsons. Rod tells Aaron he doesn't have to worry about seeing her there because he's not being invited in.
Aaron is snit-worthy impactado (and nobody, but nobody does snit-worthy like Sergio). "Heh-heh, I don't have to have permission to visit Montalveña." "--You're wrong. This time you do." "--Y-y-you are excluding me for your...'special guest'?"
Rod grins like the Cheshire cat and even Alonso, the stiff, cracks a sly smile. Aaron never saw this one coming and he screams at them that he is part of the group and demands that he be allowed to join the others. Rod shoots back, "YOU don't demand ANYTHING!" and he procedes to set Aaron straight. He tells him that these special considerations of his are not just because of what Gavi means to him or the place she holds in his life, but because she's also come as a representative of the CRT to promote his tequila. On the other hand, Aaron, his own first cousin, has spent the entire tiime discouraging those businessmen and poisoning the atmosphere with his filthy comments. "You are not welcome at Montalveña. I don't intend on selling you a single bottle of my tequila and you know full well I don't."
Aaron turns to Alonso and asks the CRT's position on this since he's an active member in good standing. Alonso replies that if the hacienda owner doesn't want him present then he can't do a thing to stop it. Aaron says there's no reason for him to continue on the tour then. Alonso agrees and says it makes no sense for him to. He should leave the group immediately.
Before he leaves, Aaron tries driving the knife in even further. "Don't you know there's something between the two of them?" "--Stop it!" "--She and Santoveña are just using you and if you want to continue playing the fool, then go ahead." He walks out in a huff. Rod looks at Alonso and laughs. "We've just gotten a load off our backs!" They drink to that.
Gavi walks in a little afterward and asks what gives with Aaron. They tell her he's decided not to continue the tour. She's definitely down with that and tells them the guests are waiting in the lobby. Alonso leaves and Rod asks her to wait a minute while he pays the bill. He asks if Alonso gave her something for her birthday, like chocolates or another book, or... flowers? He realizes from her expression that it was flowers. He guesses it was another orchid just like his. She tells him that she preferred his and considers it special because it came from him. (This is so pathetically grade school.)
===========
Back in Sin City, Hilario is leaving for a workout at the gym. He's annoyed when San Juana comes back in from shopping for groceries and tells her he's not coming back to eat and may not get back till very late. He leaves and SJ still figures eventually he's going to come around and will be eating out of her hands soon enough. (I have no patience with this character so let's just FF>>)
Across town, The Breakfast Club is together again in Isa's apartment. Sofia tells Minnie the condition that Frankie arrived home in the night before, and admits that ever since the morning that she found his shirt with the buttons ripped off they've not been having sexual relations (not with each other, at least). She says she thinks he arranged for his panther-woman to come to Mexico City while he is there. Isa pats Sofia's hand sympathetically and shakes her head.
Minnie cannot believe Frankie would lower himself to get involved with a townie. Sofia wonders whether he might have many lovers or just one. Minnie says she figures he's got only one lover and it could be another like La Gaviota. Isa can't help but snicker out loud. She catches herself and says they're all obsessing on Gaviota and all it does is depress them. Sofia says that's not the point. What matters is that her husband is cheating on her.
Frankie wakes up from his beauty sleep and gets on the phone with Stefano. He tells his cousin that Isa is incredible and is becoming one big bad vice for him. He just wants more and more of her.
==========
Rod is really enjoying his role as host and grand tour guide. More though, it's a matter of keeping Alonso from having the chance to dazzle Gavi with his expansive command of facts and figures. The group drives along and as the wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round, Alonso tells the driver to stop for the group to take some pictures. Rod insists that the driver continue on a bit further, because he knows a much better place for that. So they drive on.
Back in Guadalajara Aaron calls Minnie to tell her that Rod has dis-invited him and has forbidden him from entering the hacienda. He tells her not to worry though, that the threesome can't last much longer, that it is a time bomb that he will make certain explodes. Just then Sherilyn arrives with her bags and starts crawling all over him. Aaron tells Minnie he's got a couple more days he needs to spend there to attend to "bidnez" matters. He plans to stick around since he's made appointments to speak with several foreign importers and producers.
==========
Rod has the driver stop and they all get out. While the businessmen are wowed by the beauty of the landscape and start photographing their surroundings, Rod and Alonso get into a regular spittin' contest over who knows more facts about the agricultural production of the region and surrounding municipalities. Every time Rod gives out a fact, Alonso has to top it. (It's like ok, so you've both got Ph.D.'s. We know you guys are smart as well as handsome, and ok, so maybe Rod didn't really sleep through all those advanced ag lectures like we thought, but you're boring everybody already.) They eventually head off towards the organic agave fields of Montalveña.
Along the way Rod expounds on the beauty of the countryside and the type of people who live there and he tells the group he has so many fabulous memories among these fields. He describes how those who live amongst the agave dream of sleeping under luxuriously leafy trees with the sun above. He and Gavi exchange glances while he tells them all that there is a legend around those parts that whoever falls in love in these fields never is the same again. They never recover from it because to fall in love in these fields is to fall in love forever.
One of the guests asks if Rod fell in love in them. He says he most definitely did, with a migrant jima cutter who came back once a year only for the spring harvest. Now though, Alonso's heard enough and he abruptly tells the driver to stop. The tour-bus has finally arrived at Montalveña's organic agave fields.
James is there and Rod introduces him to the group as his best friend and his master brewer. One of the businessmen, Millar, remembers James. He tells the group that James is an internationally recognized wine expert and so the Montalvo tequila could not be in better hands.
Gavi greets the old gang of jima cutters. One of the other guests asks Gavi about her nickname and she has a chance to tell the others how she started out as a jimadora years ago with her mother. Rod explains that she used to come every year at the spring harvest and would sing constantly. That's how he met her and why the spring agave harvest is so important to him.
Alonso, not to be one-upped, and to keep things on a more professional level, jumps in with a brief and glowing backgrounder on Gaviota's accomplishments and experience in the area of tequila production. He comments to the group that she's done her job so well that soon she could be busy taking an important ambassadorship abroad. (So maybe his loogie is bigger than Rod's loogie after all.)
Both Rod and Gavi are more than a little surprised and confused. He is upset and she says she is tired of the verbal sparring. All that matters to Rod is whether she would seriously abandon him like that. She tells him this comes out of the blue. Her boss never even mentioned it to her. He's more than a little suspicious of the timing. "What a coincidence, huh?" She says that the only thing she knows for sure is that she loves him.
Rod calms down. In the background Alonso looks on and obviously resents seeing them together, but watches mesmerized while Gavi caresses Rod's cheek. She tells Rod that although their deal is to only discuss business, it doesn't mean that she's changed her feelings about him and she loves him more than anything in the world, but she cautions him: if trust is lost, then all is lost. (Figure it out, cowboy.) She walks back over to the group.
Rod says to himself he does trust in her love. The one he doesn't trust is that shark over there who every second is trying to steal her love away from him. He calls Dani right away with an idea and a special favor.
==========
Minnie is griping at the others that it's so humiliating to have Rod shut them out of Montalveña like that just to please that social climbing female. "So. What in the hell are you all looking at me like that for?" Isa tells her it's useless . Gaviota simply has become too powerful and has the entire CRT as well as all the ag secretaries backing her, not to mention Rod at his end. This starts Sofia off, who begins screaming indignantly that her brother has really overstepped the line and has to be stopped once and for all.
==========
At the distillery, Rod and Alonso discuss Ardent Passion's six months' aging process and we get a complete step by step of tequila processing from start to finish. Alonso gives a brief history of Rod's ancestors from the mid-eighteenth through the early nineteenth century through the present, explaining how their industrious nature eventually led to the Montalvo's being the leading family of tequila producers in the country. Rod explains that his grandfather led the effort towards the trademark naming and recognition of tequila as a specific type of spirit.
Before they leave to go on to the hacienda Gavi pulls Rod aside and tells him she's not continuing on to Montalveña with them. She knows his family considers her persona non grata and she doesn't want to cause anymore problems. He walks her over to Alonso and asks his help at convincing her she should join them inside the main house for dinner. Alonso tells her it is a mandatory part of her job and she must join them at the hacienda and walks off towards the others. "See, you must always listen to that little boss man of yours." "--Oh, he's a friend when it's convenient for you, huh?"
==========
Snacking on sushi with the others, Minnie gets the idea that they still have time to get Pilar to force Rod to refuse Gaviota's entrance into the main house. She'll tell Pilar what Aaron told her about Gavi having spent the night with her boss. Sofia says the old woman is a waste. Nobody will support them or believe them any longer. Even Aaron's plans have failed. She starts dialing Aaron's number to see what's what, but he's being otherwise entertained by Sherilyn and refuses to answer. Thinking it's just another jealous rant from Minnie he beats at his cell phone with a couple of cold tortillas, breaks a sherry glass and goes back to his afternoon delights.
Minnie assures them that Aaron still has something up his sleeve. Sofia says it may not happen till after the trip and that's a couple of days off. What are they supposed to do till then, sit around staring at each other?
===========
Eventually Rod, Alonso, Gavi and James and their visitors arrive at the main house. Rod pulls Gavi over to the side and formally welcomes her there. He says he wants her to feel at ease and she should enjoy herself. She admits it won't be easy and she tells him how she remembers when he caught her and her mother sneaking a look at telenovelas after they broke the flowerpot, and how he nearly ran them off. Rod says that would never have happened because by then he'd already set his sights on her.
As Rod and Gavi enter the main hall together through the magnificent front entrance, she cannot believe she's actually there as an invited guest.

Acorralada #182 Friday 9-28-07 The Jig is Up!
A confrontation at the police station occurs between Dimwit and Marfil. I'm not sure how this discussion started, but it has to do with Dimwit and Maxi-Moron. Marfil says, "Oh yeah? Well I'm married to a millionaire now!" Dimwit tells Marfil, "Although you may be married to a millionaire, you don't love him and obviously aren't happy. At least Maxi-Moron loves me more than you!" Dimwit righteously struts out and the Lt. Gomez comes out to get Marfil.
Maxi-Moron is telling Emili-Oh he feels bad about how he treated Marshmallow. When he called the bodega, they told him Marshmallow and Godmum had left
Lt Gomez and Marfil spar verbally. She wants to know if he is accusing her of Princess Fi's disappearance. He replies that's not what he wants to talk to her about, although that case is still open and sooner or later he'll solve Princess Fi's disappearance. He wants to talk about the kidnapping of Dimwit's baby. Marfil sneers that it was her twin sister who did that. Lt. Gomez asks if she has proof. Marfil replies do you have proof I did it? Lt. Gomez says she's very astute. Marfil says she's wasted enough time, and basically if he's not going to charge her, she's leaving. As she's walking out she points out that it doesn't look good that he hasn't solved Princess Fi's disappearance.
Dimwit has come to visit Iggy, who is handcuffed to the hospital bed. Just when he thought his luck couldn't get any better. "To what do I owe this visit, Dimwit?" Dimwit replies, "I've come to enjoy your downfall, Iggy!"
Pru wants to introduce her primo prima and Sylvie to her future husband. Puncho tells the priest he wants to get on with the wedding, introductions can be done later. The priest points this out to Pru who says, "You're right." Puncho thinks his luck may just hold out after all. The vows start and Pru is all excited, she doesn't want to wait through the whole vow part. She keeps saying, "I do! I do! I do!" The priest then says, "Francisco Suarez, do you take. . ." Suddenly Sylvie asks Mariposa, "Did the priest just say Francisco Suarez?" Uh oh!
MM calls Pedro, but Marfil has answered the phone. "Don't you want to speak with me?" asks Marfil. "No. Let me speak to Pedro," replies MM. Marfil is miffed. MM asks Pedro if everything is OK. He is worried. Pedro says all is well. After Pedro and MM hang up, Marfil wants to know if MM mentioned her. Pedro says no and beats a hasty retreat from the room.
Iggy asks Dimwit if she's taking pleasure in his demise. Dimwit admits she is, but tells him she actually pities him more. He was such a good doctor; the best in the hospital, but he was more intent on causing her pain than focusing on medicine. That determination caused him to align with such low-lives as Marfil.
Lorenzo has come to visit Fidiota. He's worried about how she's doing, now that she's in a wheelchair. Fidiota says all is well in her world. She got her factory back, her home, she found her daughters (note the order in which she lists what she's thankful for), and has a great hubby. She's also going to be a mother again after so many years. Lorenzo asks if she's trying to console him. "Not at all. I'm just pointing out I'm surrounded by good friends such as you. I'll just have to enjoy life from a wheelchair."
More of Dimwit pointing out Iggy's life could have been so much better if he had just stuck to what he was really good at…medicine. Now he's going to spend the rest of his life in jail. Iggy looks constipated. Dimwit leaves and we see a cute cop standing outside the hospital room. The camera pans back to Iggy, who starts crying.
Now Fidiota is telling Lorenzo Octopus is nothing but a bad memory now. She's got so much to look forward to in the future, including a new baby. Lorenzo brings up Paco, who is getting ready to move to
Sylvie interrupts the vows to beg the priest to get to the part where the priest asks if anyone objects. The priest relents and gets to that part. Sylvie pulls an Arnold Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter, "Ooooooh, Ooooooh, Pick me! Pick me!" When the priest acknowledges her, Sylvie runs up and spins Puncho around. "It IS you!" She then goes ballistic and assures Pru that Pru is better off without Puncho. She then outlines all the horrible things Puncho has done, and that he is wanted by the police in
Now Fidiota is pulling the "poor me" role with Granny DS. She hopes her baby isn't embarrassed to have a mother in a wheelchair. She always liked to go the beach, get her feet wet, etc. Now that will never happen. . ."Pobre de mi!" Granny DS tells her to pray to one of the saints; perhaps the saint will grant Fidiota a miracle! Fidiota pauses for a moment and gets this big smile on her face. "You know, you're right! I'm going to go to church and pray! I need to have faith!" Sappy music plays.
Marfil calls for Pedro. She tells him she wants him to take her on a honeymoon. Perhaps to the coasts of
MM is telling Emili-Oh he is worried about Pedro. Emili-Oh asks if Marfil is capable of killing Pedro for his money. MM says, "Of course! And much more!" MM goes on to say he's tried to get Pedro to leave Marfil, but Pedro refuses. Pedro loves Marfil.
Marfil and Camila are plotting on a way to keep Dimwit and MM apart. Further, Marshmallow has asked for a divorce. Now, nothing will keep MM and Dimwit apart! Marfil says she'd rather be dead than see MM and Dimwit happy together. Camila agrees.
Dimwit is recounting her day with Caramel and Gaby. She tells them about her exchange with Marfil. Of course the conversation rolls around to MM. She doesn't know if she can be with MM; so many bad things have happened to them. The wounds are so great. Caramel says Dimwit had better cauterize the wounds. Gaby agrees. "You don't want to lose MM like I lost Lunkhead." Head tilt. Glassy-eyed stare.
Emili-Oh comes home and is surprised to see Marfil visiting Camila. "I thought you two were rivals." Camila assures him that's in the past. Camila starts pumping him for information about Dimwit. Emili-Oh gets mad and says he's not going to get involved in any plans to hurt Dimwit. He reminds Camila this is his apartment and he can throw her out any time he wants. Looks like meek little Emili-Oh is laying down the law!
The priest is trying to comfort Pru. Mariposa and Sylvie return and start filling her in on all the evil things Puncho has done. Pobre de Pru. She thought Puncho really loved her!
More "girl-talk" among Caramel, Gaby, and Dimwit. Of course it's all about their men. I think Caramel feels bad that she's the only one who's happy. Gaby says she's the only one who has truly lost her man; ChewKey turned Lunkhead against her. Dimwit says when Lunkhead returns, he'll see that everything ChewKey said was a lie. ***I have to throw in a comment here. Lunkhead is supposedly going to marry ChewKey when he returns, but he's never called her and found out about her being committed? No one has called him about Octopus? Puh-leaze!***
Doc V and Dulce are having a heart-to-heart talk. He's sad that Marshmallow left without saying goodbye. Dulce starts with the predictable telenovela speak, "You are young, good looking. . ." Doc V starts getting all teary-eyed. He loves Marshmallow so much!
Roddy wheels Fidiota into the Iglesia de Milagros, Santa Barbara. Fidiota wants to be left alone to pray. Fidiota prays for all the things that pertain to her and her kids. Roddy is praying to Jesus for all the things that pertain to him (ChewKey and Fidiota). Finally Fidiota prays to walk again. She tries to strike a deal with the Virgencita. If she can walk again, she promises she will never hate another person as long as she lives. Huh? Perhaps it might be a good thing to never be so consumed with hatred even if you CAN'T walk again. Doc V's mom has come to Perfumes 'R Us looking for Dimwit. Dimwit says what a shame, she needs to go to the hospital to work now. DVM says, "We can go together. I can surprise m'ijo Doc V!"
Puncho calls Diablo and tells him how Sylvie ruined his wedding plans. Puncho tries to coax Diablo to come to
MM is lamenting his mother's untimely demise. She did horrible things, but didn't deserve and ending like that! If only she could have died a peaceful death at a hospital surrounded by family. Camila shows up to "comfort" MM. She doesn't want him to be sad and alone. She then starts kissing him. Yuck!
Marfil has shown up at the place of a bruja. Apparently the bruja has some super-duper deadly poison, in which one drop can kill an entire army and at the same time has no antidote. Where do these people come up with all these "mystery poisons?" At any rate, Marfil forks over a thick stack of money. Pedro's days are numbered. Marfil wants him dead before he changes his will. I haven't seen the last few episodes, but I believe I read he has already changed it.
Camila has come to console MM, now that his mother is in heaven, ***HA! I don't think so!*** Yolanda is in jail, and Lunkhead is far away in
Doc V's mom keeps trying to set up Doc V with Dimwit. She wants to see them together, happy, and providing her with a battalion of grandkids. Doc V isn't biting. He thinks it's adorable that his mom likes to play cupid.
Roddy and Fidiota discuss their warm fuzzy feelings after being at church and praying.
Emili-Oh shows up at the hospital to warn Dimwit that Camila and Marfil want to tell MM about her second pregnancy. He tries to convince Dimwit to go back to MM. MM says no way. Diablo will kill them all. Finally Emili-Oh hands her his cell phone. Call MM now and make up!
Credits roll.

Amar Sin Limites #52 Thursday, 9-27-07 Aahndres Takes a Lickin' Will He Keep on Tickin?
Hospital: GCSSD is giving his "meaning of life" speech to the comatose Inez. He wants Inez to live. He also makes a comment about Azul's life being in danger. If he's so hyped on life and living, why is he such a chain smoker?
Mansion Misero: Mo continues his manipulation of Katy, using her as a tool to get Azul back. He tells Katy Azul is sick. When Katy starts freaking out, he tells her not to worry. He swears Azul will be OK and that one day they will return to live as a family.
Casita de los Padres: Diego has accompanied Mama and Papa back home. He's going to go back to the vigil, but he fears for Mama's heart. She tells him vigils always make people think about death, "but don't worry, I'll be around for awhile." They hug and Diego leaves. After Diego has gone, Mama announces she's going upstairs. Papa then starts complaining about Mama talking to Anibal. Mama shoots back, "What about you hugging Isela?" Papa claims that is different. Isela is just a friend. Paco was like a son to her. Mama doesn't believe it. I don't either.
Casa de C & A: Arnaldo and Ceci are hanging out and discussing their relationship woes. Arnaldo tells Ceci about the fight he had with GCSSD and Julio. Julio doesn't seem to care if GCSSD accepts them as a couple or not. Ceci tells Arnaldo about her fight with Aahndres. Arnaldo wants to know if he can stay at the apartment with Ceci; he doesn't want to go home. Ceci says it's a shame that she and Arnaldo can't console each other mutually, as she gloms onto his arm.
Casita de los Padres: La Familia – Mama, Papa, Lidia, Piero – have returned from the funeral. Piero tells Papa they will be starting "work" next week. Papa wants to know what the job entails; he wants to be useful. "Don't worry," assures Piero. "You will be plenty useful." The doorbell rings and Papa goes to answer the door while Piero is droning on about Lidia to Mama. It's the Police!! They've come to arrest Piero for the murder of Paco. Everyone is impactados!
Eva's Enclave: Eva's having breakfast on the penthouse patio and Ivan's looking over the edge and talking to his hand. Apparently Diego's on his way up. They run to the front door and Diego punches Ivan. Diego accuses Ivan of killing Diego's beloved Abuelo. Eva runs to break them up, ordering Ivan to leave her alone with Diego.
Hospital: Emilia walks into Inez' room and finds GCSSD sleeping with his head on Inez' legs. Emilia looks sad.
Eva's Enclave: Diego is yelling at Eva and blaming Ivan for Abuelo's death. Eva denies it. The gloves are off and the fight is on. Diego then says her business isn't as pure as she's led him to believe. Eva admits she isn't pure, but that doesn't mean she'd kill his family. Diego is furious and the spit flies. Meanwhile, it looks like Eva's gray eyes are going to pop out of her head. Finally Eva blurts out that Aahndres is the one who killed Abuelo at Mo's direction. Orchestra of Doom. Commercial.
Hospital: GCSSD just happens to awaken as Emilia is standing there. She doesn't want to bother him. "No bother," assures GCSSD. Emilia wants to talk to him. She'll wait outside.
Eva's Enclave: Diego and Eva are still fighting. She's claiming she had nothing to do with Abuelo's death. She would never want to hurt her beloved Diegito. Diego doesn't believe her. He demands proof! Eva then says she works for a super-secret organization like Interpol and that she and her group are trying to bust Mo's empire! Diego sardonically says he feels much better knowing that Interpol is interested in Abuelo's and his BFF Paco's deaths. She then explains her super-secret group is trying to save the world by preventing Mo from infecting the planet's population with some sort of plague Mo is producing and manipulating. Eva tells Diego "This is the first proof. Ivan took this from Mo's box." She hands him a widget. Actually, it looks like Paco's driver's license. Now why her possession of Paco's driver's license is proof is beyond me. ***Is this enough intrigue for you, Ferro?***
Mansion Misero: Mo bawls out Aahndres for doing a lousy job in hiding the bodies. Aahndres tries to say he was just carrying out orders, it's not his fault. Mo and Burgay ordered the hits. Mo shouts back, "Well I sure as heck didn't ask you to whack Abuelo!" Mo starts shaking Andres – whose face, by the way, is still black and blue from his prior beating from Ivan, Diego, and/or Mistress Leo. I keep expecting his nose to start bleeding at any moment. ***Look at those big brown doe eyes! I want to give him a big hug!***Aahndres finally slinks out holding the bridge of his nose like he has Excedrin headache #893.
Eva's Enclave: Is Eva wearing a peach colored Gunne Sax dress from the 70's that's been cut down into a top? Eva says she'll get Burgay on the phone to explain everything to Diego. Diego says he's not about to believe anything coming out of Burgay's mouth. Eva and Burgay are all accomplices. This discussion continues until Diego's phone rings. It's Papa calling to say he needs Mo's phone number. Piero has been arrested for the death of Paco. Piero wants Mo to hire an attorney. Diego tells him not do anything, Diego will come home. After Diego and Papa hang up, Diego wants to know how Piero is connected to
Mama asks Lidia if it's possible that Piero really did it. Mama points out that Piero doesn't necessarily inspire confidence. Lidia snaps back that while Piero may have done some despicable things, he's most certainly not a killer! Lidia stomps off and runs up the stairs.
Casa de C & A: Azul is being her typical pouty self and whining about Diego. Ceci tries to defend Diego's response and Azul jumps down her throat, telling her to shut her mouth. Azul then starts with the "poor me" speech. Ceci and Arnaldo try to calm her down. I think Ceci welcomes her to the world of solteros. Of course Azul is too self-absorbed to ask Arnaldo what happened, but Arnaldo goes on to blame his misery on "Your father." I think everyone just needs their own half gallon of ice cream. That will solve all their problems!
Hospital: Emilia wants to talk about Azul. Azul spent the night with Emilia. Azul wasn't feeling well so Emilia kept an eye on her. GCSSD is worried Emilia left Azul alone. "Not to worry, I left her with Ceci and Arnaldo." They discuss Azul's illness and GCSSD explains he went back to work at Mo's in order to save his daughter. GCSSD admits he told Diego he returned to work at Mo's because of Azul, and perhaps Diego took that to mean Azul had gone back to Mo and asked GCSSD to join her. Emilia begs GCSSD to straighten out the misunderstanding with Diego because Azul really loves Diego, and as sick as she is, her fighting with Diego is making things worse.
Casa de C & A: Arnaldo is talking about his fight with GCSSD. More conversations about their respective relationships when the doorbell rings. It's Katy coming to visit with food and flowers. The flowers are from her daddy, who is waiting downstairs should Azul want to see him. Yes, Mo is using Katy shamelessly to manipulate Azul. Commercial.
Hospital: GCSSD is complaining about the quality of the food. Finally he says they need to talk. Emilia is sending him mixed messages about his relationship with Inez. I'm not sure what this whole exchange is about, but finally Emilia decides she's got patients waiting and she needs to leave. GCSSD gives us one of his classic "QtH?" looks and thought bubbles, "Women. Can't live with them. . .can't have sex without 'em!"
Eva's Enclave: Eva tells Burgay to tell Diego about his grandfather. Burgay says Mo ordered Andres to kill Abuelo and gives details about how they figured out it was Aahndres. Diego wants to know why Mo would have Andres kill an innocent old man who's never done anything to anyone. Burgay says Mo was getting back at Diego for messing around with Azul. Diego definitely buys this story. ***Of course Eva could have ordered the hit for the same reason, but Diego doesn't think about that.*** Eva asks Burgay to leave her and Diego alone. Eva challenges Diego to confront Aahndres to his face and look into his eyes. Once he does that, he'll know who's telling the truth! Diego still wants nothing to do with Eva.
Casa de C & A: Katy, Azul, Ceci, and Nanny are all hanging out eating jello. Katy is worried Azul is going to die. Azul assures her that is not the case. Katy then mentions something about Azul being sick like her daddy. She doesn't want everyone she loves to die and leave her. Azul asks, "Is your daddy sick too?" I think Katy says he seems a little off. Azul says he's probably just tired as well.
Hospital: Arnaldo shows up at the hospital cafeteria. He and GCSSD have a very terse conversation about Inez and Azul. I think Arnaldo must have said something about Azul and Diego, because GCSSD says he'll fix things with Diego when he has time. They sit in silence looking at the plate of donuts in front of the camera, then GCSSD starts tamping his cigarette. Arnaldo takes that as a cue and says he's going to bring Inez her things. At this point, I have a feeling Inez isn't going to know if he brings her things or not.
Eva's Enclave: Burgay and Eva are discussing the story Burgay told Diego. They think Diego is going to buy it. Eva then asks the status of the clothing store they are going to buy for Diego. Burgay is working on it; it will take another few days.
Hospital: Arnaldo brings a photo, presumably of GCSSD about 20 years ago, Inez (or her sister), and young Azul and Arnaldo. I've paused the DVR and can't decide if the guy in the photo resembles GCSSD 20 years prior. Thoughts? Discuss amongst yourselves. GCSSD walks into Inez' room as Arnaldo is setting up the photos and a CD player which plays Pachelbel's Canon. GCSSD thinks this sentimental nonsense is a waste of time. Arnaldo disagrees. They glare at one another until GCSSD announces he's going for coffee.
Casita de los Padres: Lidia is in a snit because Diego hasn't shown up yet to help out Piero. "Diego's never liked him!" Lidia leaves to go to her house. I thought she and Piero were living with Mama and Papa. Not sure what this is all about, but we have a commercial.
Den of Iniquity: Morticia is whining to Isela about the call she took that came in on her mother's hotline. Something to do with a hot dog. Morticia thinks her mother's job is disgusting. At first Isela laughs, but of course, Morticia sees nothing funny about it. More discussion ensues about Morticia's options in dealing with the hotline. Suddenly Isela says she has an idea. . .
Hospital: More squaring off between GCSSD and Arnaldo. Arnaldo is hurt his father won't talk to him. GCSSD is mad because Arnaldo will never make him a grandfather? I didn't understand this part.
Eva's Enclave: Eva and Ivan are discussing Diego. Eva likes the idea of throwing Aahndres under the bus. If Diego thinks Aahndres is responsible for Abuelo's death, then perhaps Diego won't be snooping around as much. I think they then discuss making Aahndres disappear. Did anybody catch this part?
Casa de C & A: Apparently Mo has shown up to gather Katy. He tries to give Azul back the keys to the car he bought her. Azul doesn't want the keys or the car. This goes on for awhile until Ceci says, "Fine! I can use a car!" Ceci then takes the keys. Mo does his best to look sickly and pathetic. Funny, he didn't look sickly and pathetic when he was shaking my telenovio, Aahndres. Commercial.
Azul and Ceci are discussing Mo's motives when the doorbell rings. Katy comes bursting in hysterical; Mo has passed out!!!
Mansion Misero: Diego is beating the tar out of Aahndres and calling him an Abuelo-killer.
Casa de C & A: Katy is still whimpering hysterically and Mo is lying in one of those positions you normally see outlined in chalk on old murder/detective shows. The only thing missing is the outline. Azul tries to wake him up. She tells Ceci to call an ambulance.
Mansion Misero: Diego is STILL beating the tar out of Aahndres and calling him an Abuelo-killer. Leo rushes in and tries to get Diego to stop. That obviously doesn't work so she runs outside to get Frick and Frack, Ivan's Security Dudes. Leo tells them to come quickly, Aahndres is getting killed. They take two steps like they are going to follow Leo inside, then they turn around and start laughing and hanging out. Meanwhile, Diego is. . .***let's say this all together now*** "STILL beating the tar out of Aahndres and calling him an Abuelo-killer." Leo goes to the drawer and takes out a gun, points it, and shoots. Now Frick and Frack start running.
Credits roll.

La Fea Más Bella #34B-36A Missing Recaps 13-16, by Kim P.
Missing Recap 13: When your boss tells you to go home... GO HOME!!
We're in reception and PM is telling the cuartel what Lopez is doing. He calls her again and she says she's with Saimon and the cuartel and can they come too, but he tells her it's in her best interest to get rid of them and come alone. I think he threatens to fire her if she doesn't. She agrees to meet him alone in 15 minutes. The rest of the cuartel are trying to get Marta to call Lopez's house, but she's afraid and doesn't want to. They say something to PM that I don't get, and she says she'll quit before she allows him to do anything. Sara shows her how to defend herself using Juana as a dummy. PM and Saimon talk, I think he says he'll go talk to Fernando, but she says no. Just then a hot chick walks in asking for Fernando and Saimon begins to drool.
PM calls Lety to let her know that a Fatima Bosh (?) is there for Fern, and tells her what's happening with Lopez, that Fern told him he could handle the situation so this is how he's handling it.
Omar and Fern are still talking in his office. He's balancing a pencil on his lip, so I'm guessing he's not paying a whole lot of attention. Lety tells Fernando that Fatima's there and he gets all excited while Omar makes some Omar-type comment. He yells at Lety about something and he and Omar talk stuff I don't get. Lety asks him if he told Lopez to handle the PM problem and Fernando says no, he told Lopez to reprimand her but not to dismiss her. She smiles and thanks him and immediately goes back to her office to tell Saimon this, but PM's already gone. Saimon offers his arm to Fatima to take her to Fern's office. Meanwhile Fern is lighting candles, turning on music and rearranging furniture. Omar brings in some wine and they talk man-talk, and Omar says something about Alicia.
Fernando wants to be alone with Fatima and goes into Lety's office and tells her to go home early, but she, for some reason (I thinks she's a closet masochist) decides she wants to stay and tells Fern she has a lot of work to do. He tells her ok, but under no circumstances is she to come out of her office until he tells her to, and I think he tells her not to say anything to Marcia. He leaves her office and sees Fatima and they start talking. Fatima tells Fern she knows Marcia's out of town and she wants to spend all night with him. He pours some wine and he and Fatima start to get it on. At first Lety listens while looking at her picture of him (ew!! Is there such a thing as a Hearing Tom in addition to a Peeping Tom?), but then she gets sad and cries and covers her ears to drown out the noise. Hard to feel sorry for her, it was her choice to stay. Oh well...
Meanwhile Saimon calls Marta and tells her what Lety said about Fernando. He wants her to call Lopez's house, but she still doesn't want to. He tries to reassure her that it will be ok.
At the Blue Dragon Bar (in case there's ever a trivia quiz on it), Lopez is hitting on PM. He tells her that Alicia resigned because of what happened and Omar's really upset. He tries to touch her hand but she pulls away. His cell phone rings and as he's pulling it out of his pocket he pulls out his toothbrush and toothpaste (ok, that just made me urp a little). PM is as disgusted as I was. He tells her the call is just someone from Conceptos and he doesn't answer it. They talk more stuff that I don't get but I feel like I need a shower from hearing it.
At Alicia's house, she's on the phone to her dad and tells him the same stuff Lopez just mentioned. She mentions she needs money and she thinks he hung up, but he didn't. She then tells him about Ariel's harassment and couldn't daddums help her out with just a little buckage? A knock at the door, she hangs up and answers, it's Omar, with flowers. At first she won't talk to him, but as soon as he starts to walk away she changes her mind.
Saimon is still begging Martha to call Lopez's house, but she's afraid because she knows Lopez will know it was her who called. Saimon asks her who's more important, her boss or PM? I'm guessing she chose her boss because Saimon tosses the phone down, then picks it up again to see if Marta is still there.
At Lety's, her 'rents are in bed and she calls. Usual crap about needing to stay late, no come home, can't must work, blah blah etc. Pop asks when she'll be home and she hears the two F's (Fern and Fatima) being mushy and tells her dad she doesn't know.
Speaking of the two F's, they're on the couch kissing and talking. Fatima asks Fernando if he's really going to marry Marcia and he tells her he doesn't want to talk about it. While they're talking, she's slipping off his tie and they kiss a lot more.
Omar is begging Alicia to forgive him, he doesn't know what PM was up to, she was crazy and he lost control, same story he fed Fernando. Alicia says she'll forgive him under two conditions: first he has to fire PM, secondly he has to marry her. He tells her PM is under Fernando's protection so he can't fire her, and I think he also just flat-out refuses to marry her. She gets sad and he leaves.
Back to the bar, PM tries to leave, I think Lopez is getting drunk, and he grabs her. She says something about his wife and just then his phone rings and, of course, it's his wife. He can't let her hear the music, so he goes to the bathroom to answer.
Lety is still listening at the door, que stalkerish. I'm having a hard time drumming up pity for her here. Did I mention she had the chance to go home but didn't???
Back to the Blue Dragon, Lopez answers the phone in the men's room and tells his wife he's working. Meanwhile, we get a rather pointless scene of Saimon pacing in Conceptos' reception and Celso and Sanson come in. They talk, I think about a woman being up with Fernando. Then we're back to the bar again, and while Lopez is gone PM asks a lady next to her to borrow her cell phone and calls Saimon. He tells her what Fernando had said, but the bar is so noisy she can't hear him. She tells him where she's at and hangs up because Lopez returns. She tells him she needs to leave, but Lopez wants to dance.
The two F's are still making out in his office and Lety finally has enough. She covers her ears and starts singing to block out the noise.
At Ariel's house he answers the door and it's Alicia. He invites her in and she says she needs to talk to him and he asks her if she quit Conceptos and she tells him no. He asks her if he no longer disgusts her (actually, after I saw him at Magic Mountain in L.A. he didn't disgust me either, he was so adorable, but until then I was full-on with Alicia on that). She says she only told him that because she was mad but she wants to be friends. He tells her he's only interested if there's sex involved (ok, I take it back, Magic Mountain or no Magic Mountain). She doesn't want him to compromise her relationship with Omar and, like the jerk he is, he says what relationship, 'cause that little incident at Conceptos kinda proved Omar wasn't taking it too seriously. She says she needs her job and he says then you have to accept my proposal (he says apuesta, which I thought meant "bet" but I guess it means "deal" or "proposal" as well), and he heads off into the bedroom. She thinks about it for a minute, then follows him in.
Lety calls her 'rents and Mom asks if she's going to be working all night. Pop is listening in and gets really pissed. Lety tells them she's working on a very special project and not to worry because there are a whole bunch of people working late that night, the other secretaries and Lopez. I guess she placates them. She says she'll see them tomorrow and hangs up.
Lopez and PM are dancing. She mentions she has to work tomorrow but that doesn't stop him. He's puttin' on the moves, she's pushing them off. I'm not sure, but I think she says something like "I'm not like that" and he says "you were, with Omar" or something equally disgusting. She's asking him to stop, he's married, and he starts kissing her neck. She's trying to fight him off when a woman in a nightdress and curlers shows up and scratches him down his back. He turns to look and freaks, it's the little woman. He tries to make an excuse, asking where Fern and Omar are, but she's not buying. Wifey sees the toothbrush and paste and puts two and two together and really starts screeching like a banshee. He denies everything, of course, but she drags him off by his ear, threatening the whole way, while everyone watches and PM laughs. The barman shows up with the bill and gives it to PM, but she doesn't have any money.
Fernando and Fatima are still at it at the office, but decide to go somewhere else to finish their business, leaving the music on and Lety holed up in her office, crying. We get to hear Aqui Estare again (great song). Should'a gone home woman! Jeez Louise!
Missing Recap 14: Alicia, Lety, and Lopez get unlucky
We're back at the bar where Lopez is being emasculated again. PM gets the bill and can't pay again, the two F's leave again and Lety cries again. Angelica sings that she's right here again, and I'm telling Lety she should have gone home when she had the chance again. Lety crawls up onto her desk and lays down, crying. Ok, I may not feel too sorry for her, but that part WAS kinda sad.
Paula Maria is arguing with the barman, she doesn't have any money. She offers him her watch, but just at that moment Saimon the P-Whipped shows up and offers to pay, but it's more than he has cash for. He offers his watch, saying it's Swiss, and the barman accepts. Sorry, still can't get over the fact he's doing this for someone who was busted trying to bang the VP. Anyroad...
We cut to Ariel telling Alicia he's going to want a lot of sex. She says she doesn't want that kind of relationship, but you already know what he had to say about that and he heads into the bedroom. She thinks about it for a minute, then follows him in. He's lying there on the bed in an oh-so-NOT-sexy pose and I can't believe she didn't run off screaming at the sight.
We go back to PM and Saimon. She tells him what Lopez had proposed and he gets righteously pissed, and tells her that Fernando had ordered Lopez not to dismiss her. She thanks him for saving her, and thanks some saints for sending Mrs. Lopez along at the right time. Saimon tells her don't thank the saints, thank Marta for giving him the number or making the call, sorry I'm not clear who actually made the call. PM is a little worried that Marta will get into trouble, but being the selfish cretin she is, that worry flashes in and out of her mind about the same length of time as a lightening bolt hitting the ground, then she's back to being all over Saimon. They dance, then he picks her up and carries her out. Saimon takes her home and tells her he thinks Omar was a jackass whereas he's single and would love to be with her and her son. She says now she knows she has a guardian angel and gives him a kiss on the forehead. He wants more so she gives him a very quick kiss on the lips and runs off. He gets dreamy and says "beso" over and over. Ok, he's p-whipped, but that's kinda cute.
Next day Fern talks to Celso, then walks into reception. Marta is crying to PM about the trouble she's going to be in for giving out Lopez's number when Fern walks in. PM thanks him for his help with the situation and he makes her promise not to pull a stunt like that again.
Fernando walks into his office and sees that it's still a mess from last night. He starts moving furniture back and yells for Lety (was it her job to clean up after him?). He walks into her office and finds her asleep on her desk. At first he's pissed and wakes her up, asking why his office is still such a mess. She says she'll get Juana to clean it up and he gives her crap for sleeping on the job. She tells him she spent the night because he told her not to come out until he said so, and she heard the music still playing so she stayed put. He can't believe it and asks her again, you mean you spent the night here in the office?
Missing Recap 15: Lopez tries to do his thing
Lety affirms that yes, she spent the whole night there because he didn't tell her he'd left. I'm not sure of the whole conversation, but I think he says nothing happened, he and Fatima left, and he apologizes for leaving her there all night. She gives him the report she finished during the night and he tells her to go home. Omar comes in teasing him about how unprofessional the office looks, and wants to know all the details of last night's little adventure with Fatima. He's thinking this means adios Marcia, Lety is listening and likes this part. But Fern tells him no, it's like it always is, when he first sees a woman he really wants her, but afterwards he feels empty. The only one he still has any feelings for is Marcia (Lety's sad), and he's not sure if that's due to love, affection, or custom. Omar tells him he should keep looking (Lety's happy), but Fernando is skeptical and says that he's been doing it too long and so far Marcia's the best one he's found (Lety's sad). Lety comes out and offers to clean up but Fernando tells her to go home and he'll see her tomorrow. Omar wants to know was'sup and Fern tells him how she spent the night there and it was his fault. Omar the Ever-Sympathetic just laughs.
Lety tells PM she's leaving as Saimon comes into the reception with a big stuffed bear for PM. She loves it, but then she gets a call from an old boyfriend and sets up a date with him and Saimon is sad.
Omar is still laughing that Fernando left Lety in the office all night. He asks if she means so little to Fernando. Fern feels terrible about it and tells him that he's impressed that Lety trusts him and follows his orders unconditionally and he wants Omar to respect that. He says she's proven she's loyal to him and he has total confidence that Conceptos is in her hands.
Tomas runs into Lety as she's getting off the bus and wonders what's up. She tells him (against all orders of course) about F.I.'s loan to Conceptos. He again wonders if Fernando will want back his Filmo Imagen money but Lety tells him she doubts it because it's not enough money to help.
Fernando and Omar talk more about Lety and Conceptos, and make a joke about Alicia.
Alicia comes into reception, glares at PM, and gets onto the elevator. PM tries to talk to Saimon but he's unhappy and is barely responding. Clueless PM wants to know why, what's wrong, but he just tells her how stupid he is. She says something about the bear and throws it back at him. He yells at her, she snaps back, and he wusses down again.
Fernando and Omar talk about PM, then Omar tells Fernando that Alicia wouldn't forgive him unless he married her, and he pretends to strangle himself and Fernando pretends to stop him. He says he used that as an excuse to break up with her. I think Omar then says he thinks Alicia's going to quit, and he and Fernando pretend to cry about it, but then I think Fernando tells him basically don't bet on it.
Lopez comes into reception wearing sunglasses but you can still see scratches all over his face. He also has first aid tape on the back of his head. PM calls Lola to warn the cuartel that he's coming up. He stops at Alicia's desk and tells her about his conversation with Ariel. Alicia replies something that I don't get and I think she tells him she's not quitting after all. She suddenly notices his face and asks what happened, and he replies but I'm not sure what he says. Lopez tells Marta to come into his office and goes to do the lick/scratch thing but hurts his head. Lola and Alicia have one incredibly rare solidarity moment and share a laugh at his expense.
In his office, he asks Marta why she gave out his home number. Marta protests that she gave the number to Saimon because he said it was urgent. The cuartel and Saimon are listening at the door, of course. Lopez tells Marta that she caused big problems with his marriage and she's fired. The cuartel want Saimon to go in and stick up for Marta, but he's afraid. They shove him in anyway and he has trouble talking. Lopez asks why Saimon called his house. I'm not sure of his answer, but he mentions PM and Don Fernando. Lopez up and fires Saimon too. The cuartel run to Fernando and tell him what Lopez is up to. During that time, Marta finally grabs the pair of balls that Saimon isn't using and argues back to Lopez. This emboldens Saimon so he takes his balls back from Marta and tells Lopez he knows that Don Fernando didn't tell Lopez to handle things and threatens to tell Fernando what he did.
Just then, Fern walks in like a gorgeous knight in shining armor and stops anyone from getting fired. He wants to know what Lopez is doing and Lopez tells him it's a personnel issue. PM asks Fern if he didn't say that PM was only to be reprimanded and not fired and Fernando says yep, that's what I said, was I unclear to you? Lopez covers his butt and Fern says fine, anything else? Lopez says no. Fernando asks about the scratches on his face and Lopez says something about a cat. Sara asks if it was a male cat or a female cat. Fern teases him about the scratches, then leaves. Irma gives Lopez hell for what he tried to pull. The cuartel all leave, making meowing noises. Saimon stays behind and basically tells Lopez mess with PM again and you'll have to deal with me. Lopez orders him out of his office and does that disgusting scalp squeaking as only Lopez can do, but this time it hurts due to the scratches (good!).
Omar and Fernando head toward Luigi's office to discuss the shampoo commercial and see that Alicia has come to work. Fernando says something I don't get and shoves Omar toward her. She tells him that Ariel asked her not to resign and Omar looks like he swallowed a bug.
Omar tells Fernando that Alicia is now seeing Ariel and Fern is not happy. He's worried that she was dangerous before but now it's worse 'cause she's angry. She's going to tell Ariel that Conceptos doesn't have any clients and he'll want an audit and bye bye presidency. Omar says that the shampoo commercial that Luigi's working on is now even more important. Fernando agrees and says this time he'll do whatever Luigi wants even though it's going to be expensive. Then I can't tell if my tv signal is bad or if Fernando's cussing out Luigi, but it sounds like he's getting bleeped.
They go to Luigi's office where a musician is playing a synthesizer. Based on Luigi's comments, I guess he writes a lot of music for telenovelas and is very popular in real life. Luigi wants to hire him to write the music for the commercial. Fern asks if he costs a lot and the musician says yes, but Luigi says no, not a lot, a WHOLE lot! Fernando says ok, which surprises Luigi.
Lety's home writing in her diary, saying how much it would hurt her to see Fernando fail and she's flattered that Fernando trusts her. We see Fernando working, looking at his picture of Marcia and sighing while Lety voiceovers that she's the most important woman in his life, but he doesn't see her as a woman. Back to Lety, she's drawing hearts along the top of the diary page.
Next morning Tomas and Erasmo are going through some boxes. I think it's computer stuff. They talk to Lety, I'm not sure about what, and she tells them to be careful as they lift the heavy boxes. She talks to her mom about her dad and him having a job, I'm not totally clear. They mention Fernando. Tomas butts in and F.I. is mentioned, so I think they're discussing getting dad a job with Filmo Imagen, which has me confused because I thought they discussed this topic before in Lety's bedroom.
Back at Conceptos, Fernando is complaining to Omar that Luigi is costing them a fortune on this commercial. Lety comes in and says good morning and Fern snaps at her. Omar tells him to calm down, maybe they can save money in post-production. Fern asks Lety how much money is in Filmo Imagen and she tells him. He's surprised by how much money is there. He tells her they're going to have to take another loan from F.I. Omar is nervous about this, but Fernando begins to list everything they have to pay.
Luigi is on the phone to someone, but I'm afraid I don't understand this at all. Marcia and videos get mentioned.
Fernando is talking to Omar and Lety interrupts. She's very nervous about having Conceptos in her hands. She says something about the banks and Fernando says something about Luigi's commercial. Fernando tells Lety that in order to stave off their creditors, it's necessary (again she sits at attention when he says that word) to completely embargo Conceptos to Filmo Imagen. Lety's eye twitches with impactadaness. If anyone can fill in this conversation, please do, I'd love to know all that was said.
Missing Recap 16: Luigi's new model
Fernando again says that it's necessary (attention Lety), Lety protests again, but Fernando and Omar try to convince her. Fernando reminds her that F.I. is a real and legal company. She goes to her office and stares at her picture of Fernando and rubs the rag he gave her (freaky!). Fernando and Omar are still discussing it when she comes back and tells Fern he can count on her to do whatever is necessary to help. He tells her thanks and she gives him one of her patented scary dreamy looks. Omar teases him about it.
Marcia is back from her trip and comes into reception. She talks about Luigi and his models with PM. Saimon is carrying boxes for her. She gets on the elevator and when she gets upstairs Alicia greats her heartily. She starts whining about everything that's happened but Marcia doesn't really want to hear it and gives her a bottle of perfume she bought her. She gives a gift to Saimon too, as well as a gift for Lola.
In Fern's office, Lety hands Fernando some info. Marcia comes in and they kiss, making Lety's eye twitch. She gives Fern a present, which he hands off to Lety without opening, and I think she tells him she bought some stuff for the wedding. He tells her he'd love to talk about it but right now he's working on something. She asks if it's a problem and he says no. She says fine, she'll be in her office. They kiss again and Lety makes an ugly face at her.
Marcia asks Lola for a report. Saimon thanks her for the gift. Luigi runs in and they do a diva greeting and chat, I think about her trip. Some models come in looking for Luigi, I think they're supposed to be auditioning for the shampoo commercial and he has Saimon take them somewhere. Lola gives the report to Marcia and she and Luigi go into her office. He complains about his model problem and she shows him the veil material she bought. He wraps it around his head and prances around in it while she reads the report and says it's a disaster. She heads off to confront Fernando and Luigi follows as far as the executive lobby. Lola stops him and asks him a question about the models' contracts, but he just gives the usual fea ugly ew go away digs. Marcia goes into the conference room where Fernando, Omar and Lety are working and wants to know why all the contracts have been canceled. She tosses her report at him and he picks them up and reads them. She makes some wise crack at Lety that I don't get and Fernando tells her Lety is practically the VP of Finance since Olarte got fired. Naturally this goes down like a ton of bricks and Marcia sarcastically claps for her. I'm sorry, my Spanish isn't good enough to figure out why Marcia thinks the company's problems are all Lety's fault. Fernando tells Marcia the orders were his and everything will be fine, and Lety leaves, to go out into the executive lobby and talk to the cuartel. Fernando's doin' some 'splainin' that I don't get a lot of, but he mentions that they got nothing from the L.A. trip. Marcia asks "nothing?", and Fernando replies nothing concrete, but we got ideas. They do more talking that I don't get, but I think mostly he's trying to paint he picture as rosier than it actually is.
Luigi is in the studio auditioning models. He complains when the cuartel walk in, they want Irma to go to lunch with them. He says they're too busy and makes them leave. Just then Marcia calls him and asks him to come to a meeting, so he tells Irma to choose a model.
The cuartel are in reception and leave for lunch as some models are sitting there. Saimon does his usual "pretend to be an executive" bit, I guess that never gets old.
Luigi shows up in the conference room with his dog, and he, Fernando, Marcia and Omar discuss it for a minute. Marcia asks how the shampoo commercial is going and Fernando and Marcia explain to Luigi that it's their only gig right now. There's more conversation that's over my head. I'm not sure but I think the 35 mm camera gets mentioned again.
In the lobby, Saimon sends the next model up to audition just as another model walks in. It's Jazmin, the woman who stole Lola's husband! Saimon drools and dances and puts her on the elevator to audition before the other models already sitting there.
Alicia sends food into the conference room and heads back to her desk as Saimon and Jazmin get off the elevator. Alicia eyeballs her and shudders and says something about nacos. I guess she summed Jazmin up as low class trash pretty quick.
Irma thanks the current models as Saimon brings Jazmin in. Irma tells her she thinks she's seen her somewhere before but can't remember where. Jazmin says she doesn't think so. Irma gives her something to change into which apparently is just some material to wrap around herself. Saimon starts to help wrapping Jazmin up but Irma boots him out.
Back in reception, the cuartel come back, apparently talking about Alicia. They notice that Saimon isn't there just as he's coming off the elevator. He's busy dancing and swooning over the new woman. They ask what he's doing and he tells them something about the new model that I don't get. PM, the chick who JUST got busted for trying to bang another man there at work, is jealous. Saimon dances off.
Jazmin is modeling for Irma. She tells her that she likes her but that Luigi still needs to approve her choice. Jaz walks away to change while Irma continues to wonder where she's seen her before.
Back at the meeting, they're continuing to discuss their problem. I'm not positive, but I think Marcia is going to make calls to try to drum up some business. She leaves and Luigi mentions the bet and that Fernando lost since they have no bidness. Fern tries to back out of it, but Luigi tells him "no Ferni, a bet is a bet," and leaves. Omar teases him about being Queen of the Night, and Fernando responds with something I don't get but I'll bet it ain't so nice.
Marcia and Alicia talk in the bathroom but I'm afraid I don't get it. If anyone can fill in, thanks!
In the lobby, Lola sees Jaz and starts buggin'. Alicia asks what's going on and Lola starts telling her about Jazmin. Just then Luigi calls and Jaz is supposed to go back to his office. Everyone holds Lola back as she tries to steal Sara's Roller Derby Chick persona and go all amazon on Jaz's butt. Just then Lopez comes out and wants to know what the commotion is. The cuartel don't speak so Alicia tells him Lola was picking on this poor innocent woman, while Jazmin gives her fake pout. Lola sticks up for herself and tries to explain but Lopez tells her it's HER problem and tells Jaz to go to Luigi's office as asked. She flirts with him (EEEWWWWWWW!!!) and thanks him.
Luigi and Irma are talking and he wants to know where the new model is. Irma says she doesn't know, she called Alicia and told her to send her back. Just then the skank ho, I mean Jazmin, walks in. Irma introduces her to Luigi, who tells her to turn around. He likee.
Lola is still wigging out and the cuartel are trying to calm her down. They go to Luigi's office and Lola says she needs to talk to him. Naturally he doesn't want to, but she talks anyway and tells him he can't hire Jazmin. He wants to know why, snottily of course, and Irma asks what the problem is. Lola tells them Jazmin is the ho who broke up her marriage. Irma is impactada and says she's very sorry, she didn't know. Luigi tells Lola she can't give him orders in his own office and she says fine, she'll talk to Fernando, and Don Humberto, and Dona Teresita, and Marcia, and Ariel, and all the heads of Conceptos if that's what it takes. Luigi pretends to be worried, then does the exact opposite to spite her and tells Jazmin she's got the contract. Lola faints and the cuartel drags her out. Jazmin says something sarcastic and Luigi calls Lopez and tells him he needs to see him. The cuartel try to calm Lola down in the bathroom. PM comes in and they tell her what's going on. Meanwhile, Luigi is working with Jaz when Lopez comes in. He's openly drooling over her and Luigi calls him on it. He tells Lopez he doesn't want the cuartel bothering her. Lopez needs to borrow Jaz for a few minutes to do the paperwork, and Luigi says ok but hurry, he has to start filming the commercial. They leave and Irma asks Luigi to please not use Jazmin. He replies with something I don't get and reminds her that she's the one who chose her.
The cuartel come out of the bathroom and run into Alicia. The usual insults fly. Lety takes Lola in to Fernando's office. He wants to know why Lety's late from lunch and she explains that Lola has a problem. She then heads to her office so Lola can explain in private. Lola tells Fernando that Luigi is hiring the woman who ruined her life.
Alicia has run and tattled to Luigi that Lola has run and tattled to Fernando. Fernando walks in to Luigi's office and Alicia calls him the representative of the cuartel de las feas. He gives her a look and she leaves. He asks where the new model is and Luigi tells him she's in Lopez's office signing the contract. Fernando says he wants to talk about a personal matter and Luigi gets a hopeful look on his face (I LOVE Sergio Mayer, he's so perfect at this!). Fernando says NO, it's about the new model and the problem she's causing with the cuartel. He asks Luigi to please use another model, he must have had several candidates. Naturally Luigi gets obstinate and says he wants her and Irma was the one who hired her and it's too late because she's already signing the contract. Fernando caves a little too easily and says fine, whatever, it's going to be your problem then. Luigi says and another thing I really don't want the cuartel coming into my office. Fernando says Oh, I get it, this is personal against Lola, right? Luigi denies it, then reminds Fernando of their bet and that as a gentleman he has to keep his part of the deal and dress up as the Queen of the Night or Luigi will resign from the company.
Jazmin is signing her contract while Lopez is drooling and ogling her a**. He's flirting with her and, unlike the cuartel, she's lapping it up like a kitten with cream. When the contract's signed, he takes her hands and welcomes her. He brushes his eyebrows (yes, that's as disgusting as it sounds), takes her arm, and leads her back to the studio.
Fernando stops by Lola's desk to tell her that he couldn't stop Luigi from hiring Jazmin, and Lola cries.
Jazmin goes into the bathroom and Alicia walks in. Jaz thanks her for sticking up for her against Lola. Alicia tells her about the cuartel and to be careful of them and to come to her if she has any problems with them.
Marcia is at Lola's desk and Lola is telling her about Jazmin. The very same skank walks by and Lola cries harder.
Omar and Fernando are in Fern's office talking when Marcia comes in. Omar leaves and Marcia mentions Lola. Fern tells her he tried to talk Luigi out of hiring her but wasn't able to because Luigi wants her and she already signed the contract and there's nothing he can do. She says ok, then asks him something about tonight that I don't get, then they kiss. Fern asks her not to say anything to anyone about the company's problems, to just keep it between herself, him, Omar and Luigi. He asks her especially not to tell Alicia or Ariel.
Back in Luigi's office Jazmin is on the phone to Flaquito, telling him she got the job. Luigi shakes his head, I think he's already disgusted by how much time she spends on the phone but I'm not sure. Flaquito is in his office and is surprised that she got the job at Conceptos. He's worried about what Lola will do.
Marcia doesn't want to keep quiet about the problems and mentions their families. Fernando says fine and something about his head and the presidency. She says he's being ridiculous and stalks out and he makes fun of her behind her back. Lety comes out and with the embargo paperwork for him to sign, and warns him that once it's registered there's no going back. He tells her not to worry, the worst has happened (or nothing worse can happen, or something along those lines) and asks her where to sign. She stands right next to him to show him, looks at him dreamily and puts her hand right next to his. It looks like she's about to take his hand in hers, but he impatiently brushes her hand out of his way so he can sign, and she hurries back to the other side of his desk. She expresses more doubts and he tells her not to worry, he's sure Luigi's commercial will bring them more business.
Alicia is enjoying watching Lola cry as Marcia tells her there's nothing she can do and Luigi's going to use Jazmin for the commercial. Marcia really does feel sorry for her here, which is nice.
Fernando goes into Lety's office and asks for the loan check. He asks her why F.I. has so much extra money, and she makes a face.

Acorralada #181 Thursday 9/27/07 Ding dong--the witch is dead . . . really!
Before we get to the big bitch slap fest, let's review some other plots:
Max and Diana seem to be making some progress at getting back together.
Diego calls his mother. She is worried that she hasn't heard from him, and they haven't heard from Pancho.
Paco leaves town.
Pedro overhears Marfil plotting against him. He tells Max about it, but reports that he has solved the problem by changing his will so Marfil won't get anything. Max will get everything. That will fix her. Er, but you'll be dead, Max says, and he doesn't want the money. He wants Pedro to live. Don't worry, Pedro has other plans.
More boring stuff about Max and Marcela, but it looks like they are through. At the bodega, it looks once again like Godmom and Marcela are living there. This week, they seem to be moving between the deli department and the cashier. The owner seems to want to date Godmom, and she flirts with him.
Pancho's wedding is about to start, at a church, no less, but no primo/prima in sight. Suddenly, enter Mariposa and Silvia. (Just after the priest has asked if anyone objects to the marriage.) Pancho realizes it's Silvia, so he tries to hide by facing away. Silvia trips and falls, so she doesn't see him right away. Credits roll at this point, so we will follow this part tomorrow.
But back to the big confrontation.
Emilio drives Fedora over to the site of the meeting. It seems to be a railyard, where trains are ending their runs. Fedora is sitting pathetically in her wheelchair, wearing her trademark red shirt with black silk flower! Imagine making sure to have on a silk flower for a fight. Emilio drives away in his Ford Expedition. Who is the bigger moron--Fedora or Emilio? Discuss.
Octy now shows up, and each taunts the other. It's the end for you. You tortured me for so many years etc., I am too bored to recap it verbatim. You can imagine. They start fighting. Soon, Octy has paralyzed Fedora down on the ground, and it doesn't look good for Fedora.
Meanwhile, back at the Mansion, the girls realize she's gone and they start calling around. Rodrigo reaches Emilio, who is driving away. He says Fedora made him promise not to tell where she was, so he can't. Bigger moron, I say. Finally, he reveals the location, and everyone rushes there. Emilio calls Max, and he is rushing to the scene as well. Then Emilio seems to get run off the road by an oncoming car, and we see him smashed against the driver's side window. Did he have on his seat belt?
The fight continues. Who should arrive, knife in hand, but Iggy, who has been lumbering around the same railyard in his zombielike way. Iggy plunges the knife into Octavia's back. It seems he is killing her not to save Fedora, but to continue his own crazed revenge.
Octavia rises, horrified, and staggers toward the train tracks just as a freight train is rolling by. At the same time, Max, Diana, and Rodrigo run up! What a climactic moment. Octavia drops to the tracks, and they all watch helplessly as Octy gets run over. Fedora sits there with her useless legs splayed out in front of her. Max, drawing on every molecule of acting chops that he might possess, drops to his knees in anguish, knowing his own mother is dead, but realizing at the same time that she was an incredibly evil woman who deserved to die. What cognitive dissonance! Diana runs between Fedora and her beloved Max, giving each glassy-eyed hugs.
At the moment of Octy's death, poor Yolanda feels a sisterly lightning bolt and is jolted awake in her cell, shouting "Octavia!" Later, Diana and Max visit her at the jail and they all rehash. Marfil reads about incident in the paper and show up at the station to see Max and Diana together. She is peeved. She didn't know about the Max/Marcela divorce. Don't worry. Diana is still married to Marfil's boytoy, Diego.
The next day, everyone is recapping the action to those who were not present. Lots of boring rehash. What is most confusing is that Emilio is fine without a scratch. Then I thought it was a trick, and it was Diego, but he was unscathed the next day also. Any ideas?

I Love Juan - Thursday 9/27 - Ladrón que roba a ladrón merece cien años de perdón*
Kike comments to Fer that Juan and Paula are together a lot, smiling a lot. Fer says that CL has been asking him lots of questions about Juan. Fer can't believe that Juan could have put the ball in the basket (scored?) with Paula. Kike tells Fer not to discount Juan's superlative social talents. He's seen loads of chicks fall for Juan.
Juan thought bubbles that this is the happiest day of his life, it's right up there with his first communion when he got his first pair of boots. His thoughts are interrupted by a nice set of gams attached to an incredible bod topped by the face of an angel. The "angel" puts the moves on him but he insists that he, Juan Dominguez, has renovated his life. He will not succumb to her obvious charms.
Paula tells Ana there's a good chance she will leave Farell Industries. "Again?" asks Ana, "Do me the favor of telling me what really happened with Juan."
Juan, walking to night class, tells Kike that the big boss is infuriated that he, a simple chauffeur, bested him with his woman, but Juan Dominguez will not be fired, no Señor, Juan Dominguez will go on his own, he'll give his notice and punch CL in the nose! (He demonstrates his punching technique.) They arrive at school and Juan finishes by saying Paula renounced CL and stuck up for him (Juan). If Juan goes she goes. When one door closes another one opens.
Now it's Kike's turn to tell Juan about his misadventure at Casa Chacón...he was caught with his hands in the masa. He got caught in Yadira's trap and Julita told him to take a flying leap. It was a night of passion but not because he loves Yadira. "NO..." Juan gasps, mouth agape. Kike blathers on. "NO..." Juan gasps again. The camera pans to Yadira who sashays up behind them. Juan beats a hasty retreat.
Yadi, under the pretext of bringing Kike's lost schedule to him, says they need to talk. She had a terrible fight with Nidia, left home, and has made a decision...she and Kike will live together. "Que????" Kike wheezes, impactado.
Juan lurks outside the classroom, he peeks in the windows and ogles some of his melonious (con melones) classmates. He displays his physique and they ogle back.
Paula tells Ana that CL wants to fire Juan to punish her. She plans to renounce him (CL) because he's a stupid coward. Ana knows Paula hasn't told her the entire truth.
Kike laughs at Yadi and accuses her of joking. He says she opened the cage and her fat little dove flew away. Yadi reminds him of last night's passion but Kike remains firm and tells her to beat it. She wheedles and insists that she will stay right there and wait for him. As he runs off to class he tells her fine, but she'll be waiting for nothing.
In class, Kike tells Juan that Yadi only came to twist the knife. La Profesora walks in and Juan blatantly appreciates her attributes. "I didn't know this was an anatomy class," he thought-bubbles lecherously. She gives him the goo-goo eye.
Nidia paces, frets and cries and aks Marely if she has seen Yadira. Mari promises to help find her sister.
The Maestra asks her students one by one to turn in their homework. Juan figures he can stud-muffin his way out of not doing his. She calls Kike's name and poor Kike nervously stammers. She rudely asks if he intends to stutter all night long. Juan jumps up and begins blabbing their excuse, in reality it was all his fault Señora... "...Sabogal," she answers. "Sabogaaaaaaal," he growls and kisses her hand. She checks out his bodacious posterior as he returns to his seat.
Monica and Cl are having a doleful dinner. She feels at fault for all that has happened at the office, nevertheless she has a great idea. CL rolls his eyes and we are both thinking "What now Monica Buttinsky?" She says that since he will be without a VP the solution is obvious...she, Monica, will be his VP and work at his side!
CL looks sick, however he reluctantly agrees with MB's plan on one condition, she has to wait several days before starting work because...er...she hasn't completely recuperated yet. She pouts but agrees. CL gets his reprieve but only for a few days.
La Maestra tells Juan not to worry about his homework, he can bring it to her office in the morning. He and Kike high 5 while she admires his physique.
Pastor becomes irritated when Pastora admits that she went out by herself. (I don't believe we know where she went, do we? Hmmmm...) Pastora becomes irritated when Pastor tells her she has to take her new pills every night without fail.
Alirio tells the sleazy Gutierrez that he proposed to Nidia the convenience of Gutierrez getting together with Yadira. Since Nidia didn't give an emphatic "NO" things are looking favorable. Gutierrez says he won't wait forever and Alirio gives him his "word" that all will be arranged. Then Alirio somehow convinces Gutierrez to help him sort through the Farell documents saying "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours." Gutierrez licks his lips lasciviously. (May I say that these two are great together? I can't wait to see the trouble they get into!)
Nidia freaks out because Mari can't find Yadi and none of their friends know where she is. Suddenly the phone rings and Nidia runs to answer it. Is it Yadi? "No, cuchi cuchi, it's Alirio." He tells her he's sure she's worried because he's working late. Gutierrez rolls his eyes. Nidia snaps "No problem" and hangs up. Alirio pretends she's still on the phone and makes copious smooching noises in front of a disgusted and amused Gutierrez.
In class La Profesora ignores Kike's raised hand and smiles at Juan; she only has eyes for him. After class Kike mentions the maestra's enthusiasm for Juan. Juan insists it's all a part of his strategy, the strategy to save their skin and their honor.
Ana sketches. The phone rings. It's an excited Juan and he wants to talk to Paula. Ana tries to hand the phone to Stoopid Paula who of course doesn't want to take the call. They whisper-argue while Stoopid Paula covers the phone. Instead of doing what I usually do in this situation, which is to tell the caller that the callee is standing in front of me but refuses to take the call, Ana lies and says Paula is asleep. I think my method is superior because people never ask me to fib more than the one time, while Ana will probably lie again and again for Stoopid Paula.
Juan thanks the Diosito, no doubt his love is in bed and dreaming of him. Gosh he's clueless.
Juan sees Yadi hanging outside the school so he pushes Kike out to her. She tells Kike she's not going home so she's going with him. Juan intervenes and suggests she go home to her worried mother. Yadi tells Juan to shut up, she's talking to the ringmaster (of the circus), not to the monkeys. Kike laughs but his smile turns upside down when Juan says "Adios" and leaves him alone in Yadi's clutches.
Gutierrez tells Alirio that he has found something interesting in the Farell documents. He has discovered the hole where the dough is leaking out of the company. Alirio is ecstatic, now he can report it and stop this boring work. "Are you crazy?" exclaims Gutierrez, "we're sitting on a gold mine! If we can find out exactly who is bleeding the company..." "...we can turn him in!" Alirio finishes. "No dummy," corrects Gutierrez, "we can get a big piece of the pie."
Yadi follows Kike down the street. He asks will she be his shadow all night? She logically enquires, how can there be a shadow where there's no sun? "Leave me in peace!" he yells as she blabs and skitters along behind him.
Alirio accuses Gutierrez of becoming delirious from too much caffeine. Gutierrez insists that if they can discover who authorized the shady transactions they can make the person pay to keep them quiet. Alirio is worried, it could be dangerous and bad for them. "No worse than what we did with Samuel Cachón's will," retorts Gutierrez. Alirio becomes huffy, "I did it for love, it's completely different!" Gutierrez reassures Alirio, "the thief who robs a thief deserves a hundred years of pardon."* They shake on it, these two thieves who would rob another thief, including each other.
Juan arrives home and tells a worried Marely that Yadi is with Kike.
Yadi and Kike are at his house. To her dismay he tells her to sleep on the couch. He was weak once, twice no.
Nidia has a cow when she hears Yadi is with that naco Kike. Mari scolds Nidia for saying that about Kike. Juan adds that he's a decent guy. He's not a farce or a traitor, he's a pan dulce (bun or sweet bread). Nidia insists he's a ferocious wolf and this morning she found him in Yadi's room; the both of them admitted he spent the night. Nidia spews and sputters about Kike the pervert until Mari finally leaves in disgust.
Nidia sets her eyes on Juan, her papi rico, the only one in the house who understands her. She hugs and massages him, complaining about her daughters, until he breaks free insisting he has to study.
The clocks tick, time passes, and Juan studies downstairs. He's completely dazed and confused by numbers and math. Mari eventually tiptoes down and feels sorry for him. She sits down to help him. As she instructs him on rational and irrational numbers Juan, who should be paying attention, thought bubbles that she's quite a woman. After everything she is still concerned for him. He smiles and begins his homework.
The sun rises and Ana sneaks out of the house to go to work. (Why is she sneaking?) Juan drives up, starts to converse, but she says she must run to work. She changes her mind and turns around. She has a question for Juan, "What's happening between you and Paula?" Juan stands there, stupified, with his silly smile frozen on his face. He wonders, how will he answer this question?
At Farell Industries the elevator door opens as Pastor admires his toupee in his grooming kit mirror. It must be early because the office gossips haven't yet arrived. CL strides into Pastor's office. He wants Pastor to prepare the terminations/final paychecks for Paula and Juan!
Ana asks, "Juan why the shocked face? It's a simple question." He begins to blather as he is wont to do when he's nervous...yes yes yes it's a very simple question very simple but the problem is he doesn't understand exactly what she means is she referring to him Juan Dominguez and and and what does she mean between her daughter and him is she referring to licenciada Paula and him?? Whew, dude take a breath! Ana tells Juan he knows perfectly well what she means.
She'll rephrase the question..."What are you and Paula up to?"
chorros = loads
en balde = for nothing (lit. in the pail, bucket)
me agarré con las manos en la masa = I was caught with my hands in the cookie jar (lit. my hands in the masa)
sacar tajada = get a piece of the pie, to get in on the act (lit. take a piece)
tartamudear = stutter
torcer la flecha = twist the knife (lit. twist the arrow)

Destilando Amor - Sept. 27, 2007 Gavi gets whiplash from Hurricane Rod, Pancho gets sent to the doghouse
(ed. note: I wrote this as fast as I could while the episode aired; at times the scenes were so short and quick that it was all I could do to just get the basics of who was in the scene down. Hopefully, I didn't miss too much. J.R. )
* Gavi and Alonso are talking pool-side about her past problems the Montalvo clan - Alonso doesn't care about the past, he is more worried and supportive of who Gavi is right now. He makes her promise to stay calm tomorrow as they head to Tequila and Montalvena; She in turn makes him promise that if he hears any negative rumors about her, he will tell her directly.
* Aaron calls Minnie to tell her about his run-in tonight with Gavi; that he prohibited her from even stepping foot at Montalvena.
* Pammie and dearest Daddy have an endearing telephone conversation. Later, Daddy and Mommy discuss the conversation; he's worried about Pammie and her obsession with Aaron.
* Rod and James at the hacienda.
* Gavi and Alonso discuss their excursion to Montalvena and what they may expect with Rod and Aaron. Gavi reminds Alonso that Granny P and Rod both gave her their blessings to be present at the hacienda for the business meetings, so she's not too worried.
* Isa and Pancho have their intimate rendezvous in Isa's bedroom. The phone rings - Pancho convinces Isa to answer the phone. It's Sofia, looking for her loving husband Pancho. Isa lies and says she's alone and getting ready for bed - says good-night to Sofia and hangs up. Isa and Pancho kiss.
* Gavi works on her computer in her hotel room. Alonso goes stir crazy trying to think up an excuse to visit Gavi tonight.
* James and Rod count down the minutes until Gavi's arrival at Montalvena.
* Alonso goes to Gavi's room. He lies and says he needs to use her phone to make a phone call. She lets him in, then goes down to the hotel's business center to use the hotel's computer and printer. While she's gone, Alonso paces back and forth in her room. The phone rings - Alonso answers - Rod is shocked to find him in Gavi's room and, as Gavi returns and takes the phone from Alonso, Rod turns into the green-eyed monster thinking Alonso and Gavi are lovers. Rod hangs up. Gavi is impactado.
* Rod vents his jealous rage to James.
* Gavi talks with Alonso about her hurt feelings over Rod's anger and jealousy. Alonso is worried about how easily Rod breaks Gavi's heart over and over again. He tries to come up with a resolution in order to continue the trip to visit with Rod at Montalvena. They will discuss in the morning. Alonso wishes Gavi Happy Birthday before he leaves for the night.
* In the office, Rod is still furious and jealous; James stutters; Rod orders James to leave him alone.
* Musical Interlude: Gavi sits on her hotel bed, thinking about Rod and crying; Rod in office, thinking about Gavi and drinking; Gavi cries as she lays in bed, she starts to dial the phone but hangs up and mutters, "Rodrigo, Rodrigo"; Rod drinks and looks at photo of gramps - he gets frustrated and upset and pushes everything off the desk as he plunks himself back in his chair.
* Pancho finally arrives back at Granny's mansion. Sofia is waiting up for him. She notices he's drunk and all wet and confronts him about where he's been and who he's been with. Pancho stumbles with his response - Sofia is furious and throws him out of their bedroom.
* Gavi calls the mansion, to ask Dani for help with Rod.
* Clara lights candles, cries and prays for Gavi.
* Maid wakes Dani and walks her to the phone, to speak with her suegra (Gavi). Dani answers and talks with Gavi. Sofia walks in - Dani stops talking, looks at Sofia and then walks with the phone to the other room. Sofia wakes Pancho asleep on the sofa; she starts to confront him about his lover and all the alcohol she smells on him. He comes up with an excuse about the tequila conference; She doesn't buy it one bit; he continues with his story; she's upset and disillusioned; he asks her to prepare a special bath for him; she looks at him in anger and huffs and puffs away. (Pancho is definitely in the doghouse now.)
* Dani and Gavi discuss Rod's lousy reaction to Alonso answering her phone tonight; Gavi asks Dani to help calm Rod down and explain the truth to Rod (for the sake of the business trip). Dani agrees to try. Gavi hangs up and answers the door. She finds a tray with pink flowers and coffee outside on the floor.
* James returns to the office the next morning and finds Rod standing at the window - he had been there all night. Rod thinks he's lost Gavi forever now, he needs to leave the hacienda and go far away to forget Gavi. Rod flies out of the office with James following as the phone rings. James answers - it's for Rod - James runs to catch Rod.
* Gavi brings the tray inside her room; she reads the note from Alonso - he explains the special coffee he selected for her this morning - as well as wishes her happy birthday.
* Rod is still in his jealous rage and venting to Dani on the phone about Alonso and Gavi. He will leave the hacienda, and James will be in charge of the business conference at the hacienda. He wants to leave now. Dani becomes the voice of reason and calmness; she convinces Rod not to run away (it's Gavi's birthday after all).
* Gavi and Clara talk on the phone - birthday party events. Alonso stops by the room and Gavi talks with him about the present, Rod and their trip to Montalvena. As Alonso helps put the necklace on Gavi, Aaron and two of the group members stop by the doorway. Aaron doesn't resist making a sarcastic comment about Alonso helping Gavi finish dressing. The other two excuse themselves and leave. Aaron sticks around to continue his sarcastic comments - Gavi and Alonso don't appreciate his remarks at all. The hotel workers come to take Gavi's suitcases down to the lobby. Aaron continues his sarcasm about Alonso and Gavi.
* Sofia calls Isa to vent her disillusionment and suspicions that Pancho has a lover. Isa laughs and thinks Sofia is imagining it. Sofia is still disgusted. Dani enters the room and asks Sofia to hang up, so she can use the phone. Sofia wraps up her conversation with Isa quickly, Isa asks about Pancho - Sofia grumbles and hangs up.
* Everyone in the group gathers in the lobby, waiting to leave. Gavi talks with Dani on the hotel phone about Rod's jealousy, not good news - Rod has decided not to be there and leave James in charge of the visit. Gavi hangs up and tells Alonso. Alonso has to assure her not to worry about it. They go to join the group.
* Roman and Ofelia are outside the hacienda, discussing the group coming to visit. He's still upset over Hilario's job - Ofelia tries to get him to open up - he refuses and walks away.
* Hilario is upset when he finds SWB still at the apartment. He wants her gone immediately from the apartment and his life. She cries, whines and begs to stay. He caves and lets her stay one more week and then leaves the room. She vows to use the week to make Hilario is hers and hers alone.
* Gavi takes the group on a tour of Tequila. They stop in the main plaza for photos. Gavi is sad as she looks at the church and buildings.
* Minnie updates Isa about Gavi and Alonso (what Aaron had told her on the phone). Isa can't believe Gavi and Alonso are together; they discuss it in front of Sofia, holding little Rico.
* Alonso, Aaron and others disembark from the bus and go into the hotel. Rod shows up as a surprise and helps Gavi off the bus; he pulls her aside and gives her a huge, passionate birthday kiss in front of Alonso. (WHOA!) Aaron runs out and breaks up the kiss. Gavi goes inside to help with the reservations. In the lobby, Rod greets the group members and welcomes them to Tequila. Aaron joins the conversation. Gavi comes over to tell the group members about the room assignments. Aaron and others go to reception desk. Gavi and Alonso tell Rod they need to talk. Gavi goes to join the group at the reception desk; Alonso and Rod go to the bar for drinks and to talk. Rod listens as Alonso informs him about his difficulties with Aaron on the trip thus far; then Alonso tries to be politically correct about another problem - Rod bluntly states that he is angry and jealous over all the time Alonso has been spending with HIS Gaviota! (AY CARAY!)

Acorralada #180 Wednesday 9/26/07 Is he or isn't he . . .
Prudence is planning her wedding.
Sharon is talking to the shrink. She wants to be good but she doesn't know how. The family will reject her. Baloney.
Rodrigo and Fedora discuss Paco. Boring!
Diana tells Lala and Granny M about her nightmare. Poor Lala winces when she has to confront her son's bad behavior. I always feel sorry for Lala here, and I wonder at the generosity of this family to keep her around under the circumstances.
Max thrashes around the pool and then rehashes his situation aloud.
Fedora massages her legs. Nope, still paralyzed.
Max ponders aloud the fate of the various Irascibles. All bad.
Diana pleads with Fedora about something I did not pay attention to.
Octy calls Fedora. They trade the usual insults and then arrange for what seems to be a duel for the next morning. I can't wait to see this one. It seems to be at a site of train tracks, but I'm not sure what they mean.
Octy says goodbye to dead Iggy and pulls her wheeled suitcase out just like a stylish flight attendant. She has looked remarkably unscathed by her recent stay at Hotel Pigsty. Octy is wearing a wig to disguise herself from the police.
Rodrigo and Paco seem to bury the hatchet. They both have lost daughters. Isn't it sad... etc.
Octy checks into a motel and revels in the anticipation of the upcoming battle with Fedora.
At the bodega, Marcela and godmom rehash again. This storyline is beyond boring, and I still can't tell if godmom wants Marcela to be with Max or not. I think she never wanted her to be with Max, but once she was with him, she wanted her to hold on to him.
Yolanda is languishing in our favorite jail cell. Paco comes in. Why? To tell her the news, completely out of the blue, that Rene is getting married to a girl his own age in Germany!!!!! Way to cheer up the prisoner, Paco! Yolanda actually says she's happy for Rene, she wishes him well. Big Doormat, indeed! (I had a feeling they would resolve this storyline this way, but it's pretty pathetic and afterthought-ish. Pobrecita de Yolanda!) It appears that Paco is leaving also, so on the daily Rodrigo/Paco scoreboard, it looks like Rodrigo will end up with Fedora.
Max calls Larry to update him on all the action. Their mom is a fugitive! But Larry doesn't have to rush home.
Fedora tries to enlist Emilio's help in getting her to the duel, but he doesn't want any part of it.
Then, get ready for a shock: Iggy wakes up like a Zombie from Night of the Living Dead. How did he not bleed to death? And how is he so ambulatory? No one has given him a magic potion, so who knows.
Pancho and Prudence simper at each other some more.
Lala and Diana review how bad men are and how women always suffer. Diana has not told Max about her own pregnancy?
Now for a really hilarious scene. Silvia and the trannies are meeting with a new fortune teller at Emilio's apartment. Camila walks in and wants to throw the charlatan out. A really funny slang vocabulary lesson ensues.
The fortune teller waves her magic wand (varita magica) and says she will turn Camila into a dog. Camila calls her an estafadora (swindler). The trannies translate into "venezolano," or Venezualan dialect! In Venezuelan, that would be a "tracalera." Camila calls her a descarada (shameless or insolent one). In Venezuelan, that would be a vivarepa. (My venezuelan Spanish tutor never heard of that one even! Arepas are corn cakes, by the way. This reminds me of LFMB, where Alicia always called Lety a mustached corncake. But I digress.)
Finally Camila calls her a "groseria fuerte," which means a "groseria mayor" in Venezuelan. A groseria is apparently a rude word. The fortune teller leaves, telling Camila she will have years of bad luck.
Finally, at the end, there is another pointless scene involving Max and Marcela. Looks impactados all around.
