Eva Luna #52 Tue 1/18/11 Julio has a plan and Daniel is depressed

Eva Luna Ep #51, Jan 18, 2011: Julio has a plan and Daniel is depressed

Lo siento everyone, again I find myself short on time. This time I feel fine, it's just that yesterday was super busy, I got home just in time to watch (and do a video capture) of Eva Luna, but had no time to write the recap. I hope to do that later today, so WATCH THIS SPACE! (UPDATE: The recap is finished. I'm adding it to the end of this post—after the links to the clips and the photos. Scroll down to read it!)

Here are the clips: (Right click to open links in new window. These are streaming clips, like what you see on YouTube.)
Clip One: Near the beginning of the episode. Daniel tucks Laurita to bed. She says that Eva is not bad and she hopes Eva will come back. Daniel doesn't want to hear of it. He doesn't even want Eva's name mentioned in the house again. *Sniff sniff* Everyone is so depressed!

Clip Two: In about the middle of the episode. Some interesting scenes. First off, Eva has flown the coop (has left Leo's mountain shack hideaway) and Leo is upset. The next scene is Eva walking along in Daniel's neighborhood—she's going to confront him! But Icky the witch drives up and we have a screaming fight between them, where Icky accuses Eva of being a thief and Eva vehemently denies it. Then the interesting scene: Don Julio is talking with his doctor about a plan he has, and he needs the doctor's involvement in some way. It's dangerous, but what choice does he have? The doctor isn't so sure this is the right thing to do, but Don Julio thinks he has few options. Sooner or later, Marcela is going to do him in. I could see the writing on the wall—he's going to fake his death! Am I right or am I right? Hmmm . . . I wonder!

Clip Three: (End of episode and avances). Renata is having what she thinks is a routine day. She's nagged Don Julio to take his medicine. He's been busy on the computer in his office. Now she returns and he's sitting on the couch. Oh no! Something is amiss! I wonder . . . what's going on with Don Julio? He seems unresponsive. She calls his doctor and tells him that Don Julio is doing really badly. But what I want to know is, why on earth would she not call 911 right away?  Only in telenovelaland!

And until I return to finish this recap, I leave you with these pictures:
Daniel sees the car he had bought for Eva and has some bittersweet memories of happier times.  He looks so depressed.

Daniel, Daniel, Daniel. You look really rough. This Eva thing is really getting to you. I see bags under your eyes. It breaks my heart.

FULL RECAP FOR EPISODE 51, Eva Luna.

We start with Marcela grilling a nervous Renata about why she's taking a taxi and getting out of there. Renata explains that she's going to visit a friend. Marcela is suspicious but Renata is able to convince her that nothing is amiss.

Daniel is tucking Laurita to bed. She wishes Eva would come back but Daniel says that's not possible. But Laurita protests. Eva is good. She couldn't have suddenly become so bad!

We cut to Eva who is wringing her hands at Leo's mountain hideaway and wishing her auntie were there to advise here. Cut to auntie looking at her cards and wondering what's up with all the stuff going on with Eva.

More talking with Laurita and Danny. Laurita is worried that Icky will horn her way back in and separate Laurita from Danny. Danny insists that won't happen. Just then Jacky interrupts them. Danny seems vexed at first but Jacky says it's because the cops have come to see him!

Now we are back with Eva talking to herself at the mountain hideaway. She develops some backbone and decides she's going to go confront Danny herself!

The detective is asking questions of everyone at Danny's house. He wants to know if Eva had access to the house? Laurita helpfully tells the detective that she and Danny were in love with each other. The detective jumps on this and says that means she could wander everywhere in the house and steal the check. Both Francisco and Jacky back off from this and say that they don't think that Eva would do that. Laurita is even more upset by such a suggestion. Danny says that they were wrong about Eva and they're suffering the consequences. Laurita says that the only one who is bad is that witch Icky. Danny then says with resolve that Eva stole from them and he wants her brought to justice.

Back at the mansion, Renata has completed her mission (she left the house at Don Julio's request) and has returned to give Don Julio an envelope with a paper in it. Don Julio looks at it. Renata is happy that she has been able to be in Don Julio's confidence but she has never lied to Marcela before, she says. Don Julio looks at the paper and says that tomorrow after Marcela leaves for the office, he needs her to write a personal card (?) and not a word to anyone! She says she'll do that and he thanks her and says that he's glad he can still trust her.

Renata says something about how she's glad that her sister didn't turn him against her (Renata) but Don Julio says that Justa was always praising Renata. In fact, she encouraged him to hire Renata after his wife died, and when he (Julio) was putting the smooth moves on Justa, she resisted at first out of respect for Renata's feelings. "May she rest in peace" he says. Renata looks impactada at this news because I guess she had always assumed the Justa had talked trash about her.

We cut to Justa talking to an old cameo picture of Don Julio and expressing her regret that she never told him that she was expecting his baby, because the last time she saw him, she knew he had decided to marry Marcela. But he had a right to know, she's saying.

The next few scenes are condensed: At the mountain hideaway, Leo brings flowers to greet Eva but finds that she has flown the coop. He is not pleased. He yells "No puede ser!"

Don Julio is visiting his doctor and the doctor is worried because he doesn't know the effect that the poison has had on Don Julio's system. Don Julio tells the doctor he needs help in something.

Eva has been transported from the mountain hideaway to somewhere in downtown L.A.? She's saying something to herself about how she's going to confront Daniel(?). The CCs were failing me at this point.

Eva is approaching the neighborhood where Daniel lives and the bruja Icky drives up in a car and calls her a ladrona. Then we have a heated conversation where Eva professes her innocence and the bruja says that Eva is capable of anything. Eva finally snaps and says fine, let's get the police involved because Daniel committed a crime and I want it all out in the open!

Apparently Don Julio's doctor has been clued in on Don Julio's crazy "fake your own death" plan (this is just my guess!) and is saying he can't believe what Don Julio is suggesting. Don Julio explains that since Marcela won't sign the divorce papers, and since she's determined to take him down sooner or later, his options are limited. The doctor again says that what Don Julio wants to do is very dangerous. Don Julio replies that he's willing to take the chance.

Back to more sniping between the bruja Icky and Eva. Icky unburdens all her feelings towards Eva—she stole Daniel away, the only crime that Daniel committed was falling in love with dirt like her, blah blah blah, I want you in jail, I hate you, blah blah blah. She tells Eva that she's there to support Daniel and she'll give Eva a chance to disappear, because otherwise Icky and her mom will make sure she's in jail for many years.

Leo calls Daniel's house, talks to Jacky and finds out that Eva hasn't been there either. Then Jacky and Francisco have a conversation about how poor Danny is trying to convince herself that Eva is bad, but he still can't quite believe it. After some conversation about this Francisco starts boring us with his bogus planned wedding with Marisol. Yawn.

More fast cuts back and forth, which I will try to streamline a little:

Now we cut to the back room at the fashion house (?) and a suddenly more attractive Giorgio is dealing with some employees as Marcela is there. They are chit-chatting about the fashion collection.

The bruja Icky has horned herself into Danny's house and is going to fix "her boyfriend" Daniel's breakfast, even though she wasn't invited. Jacky can't really fight her as she breezes in and takes over.

More clothes are being shown to Giorgio and Marcela. Marcela doesn't like one of the dresses. The employee that brought in the models reminds Giorgio that he approved them yesterday. He says no way, he was too busy and would have never approved such rags. He tells the lady to get them out of there and maybe even burn them. As he's talking with this lady, the bruja Icky calls mommy and tells her that Eva came there and almost confronted Daniel. Marcela asks, why didn't she call the police? Icky says because she knew that Eva would tell them that Icky gave her the check to cash. Marcela scoffs and says no one would believe Eva. Icky was still too nervous to do it.

We cut to Eva wandering the streets and a hot dog vendor offers her a hot dog "to try," which she eagerly eats. When he expects payment, she says she has no money and reminds him that he offered her the hotdog to "try" and takes off.

A very rough-looking Daniel crawls out of bed and greets "Jacky" in the kitchen, only to discover that it's the bruja Icky who has taken over and is fixing him breakfast. He looks too beat down and depressed to put up too much of a fight over this. Icky is insufferable about it.

Leo has shown up at the pension looking for Eva and ends up pumping Don Ricardo for info. Don Ricardo says he should ask her sister.

After the break, Leo gets a call from Mama. She's blaming him because he let Eva get away. She turned up at Daniel's house! She tells him all that happened and he looks impactado.

Poor Daniel is putting up with Icky as she oozes over him as he eats breakfast. He is so beat down that he can't even think straight, otherwise he'd remember that not too long ago she had appeared in his bedroom at the dead of night, with a knife in her hand, ready to stab him to death. I'm just saying.

At the pension Don Ricardo has a brief conversation with Alicia about all the stuff going on with Eva.

More nonsense with Icky and Daniel. As he half-heartedly eats his breakfast, she tells him of some guy who married someone who then cleaned out his bank account (or something). Daniel says that he guesses he was "lucky" that he didn't get married to Eva. No, what you're missing here Daniel is that the woman you are talking to right now was more than ready to kill you just a few days ago. Try to re-think that "lucky" thing.

Little Adrian is dealing with his useless father who has returned to the pension. Basically the dad is telling Adrian that he can forget about school, because daddy needs him home to do some sort of work (to help dealing with stolen goods, apparently). There is more of this, with dad getting increasingly angry and Adrian crying over the loss of going to school and basically, his future.

At Marcela's office, Don Julio has visited and he's got an envelope in his hand. Marcela is telling him that NUNCA (never) will she sign the divorce papers so get out of "her" office! Don Julio reminds her that everything there is HIS.

Eva is walking down the street and is hungry. She walks by an outdoor cafe and sees some half-eaten food on an abandoned table. She so wants to eat it, but hears Daniel's voice in her head accusing her of being a thief. She won't have anything of that, so she starts to walk away and then passes out. (From hunger? or from something ELSE?) The staff at the restaurant fuss over her. (I condensed this scene because of all the annoying quick cuts.)

Don Julio tells Marcela that if she agrees to separate from him, she'll get a lot of money, which is all she's interested in anyway. Marcela mercenarily reminds him that she'd prefer to wait until he dies, because she'll get much MORE that way. Don Julio gives her a knowing look.

Don Julio tells Marcela what he thinks of her. She sneers at him that he should go home and take his medicine, and maybe he'll have another attack and it'll be his last. Don Julio again looks knowingly at tells her that she's nothing and he's going to show that. "You'll see" he says with a knowing smile, drops the envelope he's been holding in his hand, says "from Mr. Basualdo" (I think?) and walks off. (Could he be telegraphing any more clearly to us in viewerville that he's going to fake his death? Or is it just me that thinks this? Seriously, if this is not a case of faking his death I will feel quite ripped off!)

Marcela drops the envelope that Julio gave her into the trash.

After the break, we see Don Julio leisurely leaving the office building while Leo spots him and follows behind for a spell. Don Julio gets into the chauffeured car. Leo watches. In the car, Don Julio calls Mr. Basualdo and asks if he has the paper ready to sign, and that he (Julio) will do it today because he wants it resolved today.

Leo sees his mom in her office and says that he saw Don Julio leave the building. Then they go into how Leo almost got fired by Julio a while before because he (Leo) was using money to pay for gambling debts. We have some sniping back and forth between mother and son over son's shortcomings and mess-ups.

At the pension Justa gives Alicia a phone. It's from her tia.

Eva is crying at her papa's grave, basically whining and wondering why all this stuff is happening to her.

Daniel goes to his garage and sees the product placement car that he gave Eva when he proposed to her. He has a flashback of seeing her model in front of the car at the car show. Other flashbacks of him proposing to her in the car. Good times. Well, not so good anymore. Danny is majorly bummed.

Marisol is visiting Carlos in jail. Carlos is sporting his fetching designer stubble again. Basically their conversation goes like this. Carlos thinks that Alicia "used" him and he's bitter. Marisol tries to remind him that he voluntarily did what he did in order to impress and woo Alicia, but Alicia never asked him to do anything. But Carlos isn't seeing it this way.

Don Julio is back home and talking with Renata. She reminds him to take it easy because he may have a relapse. Julio makes a point of saying to her that he's going to have his coffee and his medicine. Another telegraphing of Don Julio's plan to fake his death, because why else take the poison that Marcela is giving him? I think that he has swapped the drops with different ones.

Giorgio is chewing out that employee at the fashion house for the choice of the dresses and is blaming her for his shame, as if it's her fault somehow. Whatever.

Renata is bringing in Don Julio's food to him as he is engrossed with his computer. She goes into his room, fetches the drops and puts them in his coffee. (This means that the drops were out in the open and he would have access to them, right?) They spat about Eva. Don Julio defends Eva and says that "you will see in time and everything will be clear." When she leaves he says to himself that his "revenge will be very sweet." Don Julio is acting like a man with a plan!

More with Marisol and Carlos. He's talking of the hell that is prison. He's changed. He'll never be the same. He mentions that his mom is sick and is living with his uncle. Marisol tries to cheer him up but he's not going for it. He says that when he gets out of jail, he'll look up Alicia. It sounds like a veiled threat.

Renata comes into Don Julio's room and he's in the throes of an attack. He clutches his chest. She calls Dr. Garcia (instead of 911!) and tells him that Don Julio is muy mal. She returns to his side and he seems out of it completely. Like dead? Or fake death?

We end there!

Triunfo del Amor #12 1/18/11 Guilleremo's Satan; Fernanda's Almost Cain; Will Maria Forgive Max Once Again?

Hey, all. I'm back from Nueva York. All caught up now so let's begin.

Ahem:

Victoria asks Maria why she was a no show today. The obvious, simple, and correct answer is because you're a freakin jerk, but Maria expands on the thought. "You're asking me this?" It's because Vicki treats her like crap and humilates her. Maria asks her to leave. She doesn't want to have anything to do with her. Stare down.

Osvaldo and Linda are kissing. Linda wants to go somewhere where they can be alone. Osvaldo thinks a second and agrees, but just when they get up, Os's phone rings. It's Pedro. He wants Osvaldo to meet him at Televisa. Os says he'll be there and hangs up as he sighs and looks toward Linda.

Bernie tells JP that she likes Maria Desamparada, and she'll always be welcomed here. Juan Pablo's glad, but he looks down. Bernie asks him what's wrong. JP explains that there's this sick kid...he feels weird asking, but could Bernarda lend him some money for the operation for the child? Bernarda looks like JP just asked her for both of her kidneys, her liver, and heart. She says all Octavio left her was the house, and Tomasa and I both have the WTH, you expect him to believe that? look on our faces. Does Tomasa get paid or is she a slave? Bernarda claims she doesn't have anything and dismisses Tomasa for looking annoyed.

Victoria is surprised that Maria doesn't ask her to sit down. Maria says Vicki is wasting her time because Mari has decided she's done with La Casa de Modas. We'll see about that, Vicki says.

Linda comes running into the house excited as heck. Calm down, hun. So much happiness is gauranteed to transform into suffering in novela world. She says she has a surprise, but then turns and sees Victoria. She asks what she's doing here. Victoria doesn't think she has to answer to her.

At Televisa, Pedro tells Os that his contract's been cancelled. Eeee.

In the bedroom, Linda tells Naty that she and Os kissed. Naty is not happy. Linda eavsdrops on Maria and Victoria.

Vic tells Maria that she's determined to obtain everything that's of interest to her, and right now, Maria is of interest. Ya don't say, Maria laughs. She thinks Vicky just wants to humilate her. She asks her to leave again because she NEVER wants to work with her. Victoria says Maria can't be so stupid to deny the future that Vicky has planned for her. Blah blah blah. Maria asks her what she wants in exchange--that Maria abandon her self-respect? She will not be there for her to humiliate. It's like she's her daughter. [Dramatic music.]

JP goes to La Casa de Modas to meet Victoria, but he's told she's not there. He says he'll wait awhile and takes a seat in the lobby. He's determined to convince her to stop humiliating Maria Desamparada [I just love saying her full name.] As he sits there, he has a flashback of Octavio giving him advice as a kid about soccer. When mini JP makes a goal, Octavio greets him with open arms. Touching.

Victoria denies mistreating her daughter. She just disciplines her. Who are you kiddin? I could tame my parakeets plus a lion before you could discipline that gal.

Anyways, Victoria says Maria has a lot in common with Vicki. They both come from humble backgrounds and are orphans. She says Maria has no idea what Vicki had to deal with to get to where she is. Maria is sure she stepped over many people. Victoria says she was stepped over, betrayed, humiliated. She kept it all inside. Maria tells her to give it up because Victoria isn't going to convince her or evoke any sympathy. (Ha. No pity party for her.) Victoria looks taken back. Maria continues that she'd rather give up her dreams than be humiliated. Vicky can leave now. Before she does leave, Victoria tells her not to let this opportunity go. She'll regret it for the rest of her life. Think about it.

Osvaldo calls Guilleremo. He needs to talk to him about some bad news. Guilleremo says he's busy, but he'll call back later if Os wants him to. Os would appreciate that. Guilleremo hangs up and we see he's sittin with Pedro who offers him Os's role. Guilleremo wonders how Osvaldo's going to react. Pedro says the same way Guilleremo reacted when Os was offered. He signs the contract.

Fer is bashing her stupid boy friend for not answering her calls. He has a surprise for her. She jumps in his arms. He shows her a picture of herself in the paper. She's not happy.

Max walks into the lobby and greets the receptionists. They tell him that JP is waiting to speak to him. Max welcomes him and asks how he can help. JP needs to talk to Victoria. The receptionist repeats that Vicki isn't here, and she can't try her cell unless it's an emergency. Max asks Padre if it's an emergency. No, it can wait. Sooner or later he'll speak with her. He's off, and he wishes Max well. Max says ditto.

Maria is off to see the sick children. Once she walks out of the door, Linda asks Nati why she didn't let her tell Maria that she kissed Osvaldo. It's cause Maria and Nati aren't happy with it. Os is MARRIED and can't offer Linda anything. Linda says Nati knows nothing about men.

Max is going to see "the boss lady." He has documents for her. Fab wonders if Max isn't nervous about bumping into Maria. Max says no, she doesn't work here anymore. He gives him the 411. Fab declares that Maria has dignity, and Max finally agrees. (Took you long enough, but I forgive you, Max.) Fab asks if Max has changed his way of looking at Maria. Max says completely. He has no doubts about her purity and goodness, and he's going to treat her like she deserves to be treated--decently. Fab is glad, but brings up a problem. What is Max going to do when Maria finds out that he's Victoria's son?

Linda: There are two types of married men. Rich and poor. Poor can't offer anything, but rich can offer everything. Nati asks why she doesn't find a single rich guy. Linda says it's too hard. Married guys are bored of life. Ya just gotta make 'em feel special. Like you adore them and whatnot. That's what she's going to do to Osvaldo Sandoval.

Osvaldo is in his office crying. Poor man.

Victoria is telling Max that Osvaldo's down. Fer and he need to be more sensitive to Os's work. Max tells her to relax, but Fer comes in screamin like a maniac about her ugly picture. She says her friends are laughing at her. Vicki says she did it with good intentions. Fer wants Victoria to butt out of her life. Max gets angry and tells her to cut it out. Stop yelling at his mother. Fer tells him to stay out of it; Victoria's not his mom. Victoria demands that Fer apologize to Max. Fer says it's the truth. Max tells her it's fine. It is the truth. He thanks Fer for reminding him. He asks if she'd like to be called half-sister or daughter of his father. [I offer my shoulder to him at this point.] He sadly leaves, and Victoria says Fer unnecessarily hurt her brother. The party is cancelled.

Maria brings gifts for the sick children. Bernarda is in the hall of the hospital, looking very sickly. She opens the door and falls to the ground. Maria runs to help her.

Milagros madly knocks on the door with news for Nati. There's a letter for her.

Maria helps Bernie.

Victoria visits Max's office and asks if she can speak to him. She tells him she's his mother despite biology. She's been with him since he was 10. Yes, he was just an orphan before, Max says. No, he was Osvaldo's son, Vicki tells him. The man she loved and still loves. When she first hugged Max, he planted a place in her heart as her child. Her eldest child, her support/strength, her pride. Max smiles lovingly at her, and they hug. He thanks her for being a mother to him, and she thanks him for being the greatest son in the world. She loves having him at her side at work [too much crying]. she tells him to ignore Fer's words. He kisses her head and tells her to relax. He knows his sister loves him but has attitude problems. He knows she's kind of jealous. He again thanks Victoria for being the greatest mom because he is her son. As they hug again, we see a tear drip from his eye as well. [I'm moved.]

Bernie awakes in the hospital. Maria asks if she feels better. The doctors said her pressure was high. She just needs to rest. Bernarda nervously says she wants to go home, but Maria tells her she can't yet. To make sure she doesn't risk her life by leaving, Maria is going to sit with her. Bernarda notes that Maria is even more strong-willed than she is, but she sincerly thanks her for caring.

Victoria is complaining to Antonieta about Fer's behavior. She hurt Max's feelings. She needs to learn that she can't treat people like that. Look who's talking--wow, I said it right with Antonieta who brings up Vicki's treatment of Maria Desamparada. She points out Maria's dignity. Vicky is treating her like she was treated. She asks if Vicki would treat Maria like that if she were her daughter.

The doctor makes Bernarda "promise" to take his advice. Bernie thanks God for sending her Maria. She asks Mari to drop her off.

Victoria is in church, asking the Virgencita to forgive her for treating Maria Desamparada so poorly. Behind her, Maria, Bernie, and JP walk in. Bernie tells JP how good this girl is, and JP thanks Maria for being kind to his mother. Bernie wonders how they know each other, and JP says she comes to him for advice.

Victoria asks again for forgivness cause she's suffered oh so much. She turns around and wonders what Maria is doing with Bernie and JP. Maria sees a crying Victoria leave.

Vicki comes home and is welcomed by Osvaldo who says he has bad news. Sweetheart that he is, Os notices that Vicki's been crying and asks what happened. She says he's not the only one who suffers, she has lots of things going on too. Anywho, Os says it was the worst day of his life. Televisa contacted him and--

Guilleremo walks in and asks how he can help Osvaldo. Os tells them how his contract was cancelled, and they give condolences. Guilleremo says he's there for him as a fiend. Oops, friend. That's why he wants to tell Os on his own that he's the new actor chosen to replace Osvaldo. Victoria looks even more impactada than Os.

Tomasa notices Bernie is in a good more for a change. Bernarda tells her about Maria Desamparada. She's very impressed with her and wants to invite her over. Tomasa can't seem to stomach that Bernie could like anyone. Bernie says Maria is different than others, and she wants to remain close to her.

JP thanks Maria for being there for his mom. He tells her that Bernie would like Mari to visit her, and Maria gladly accepts. She feels something special with Bernie just like she does with JP.

JP says he went to see Victoria, but he didn't get to see her. Maria thinks it's unnecessary. JP thinks Maria has a chance if Victoria went to her house to talk to her. He says Maria is letting pride forbid her from forgiving Victoria.

Guilleremo says he hopes this doesn't end his friendship with Osvaldo. Os is a caballero; of course it doesn't. He congradulates Guilleremo. They're friends as always, and he appreciates that Guilleremo came to tell him personally. Guilleremo calls him his bro and friend and leaves. He thought bubbles that he'll never forget Os's reaction. It's the best day of his life.

Inside, Vicki tells Os that it's not the end of the world. He thinks his career is ruined. Victoria tells him to have faith; he's a professional and will overcome this. Does she really think so? Yes, she does.

Guilleremo tells his dog that he is a true Machiavellan. The end justifies the means. He turns satanic and in John Swift's words, says, "It's better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven."

Fer tells Victoria that she's unfair, but Vicki insists that the insensitive jerk ask Max for forgivness. Fer says it's Max's fault for butting in to which I say that it's her fault for coming into Vicki's office in Max's presence. Victoria shouts that Max just wants to protect Fer, but Fer says that he isn't her brother; he's her father's son, and she's not apologizing no matter what the consequences are. Ugh. I can't stand this beyotch. Victoria is still trying to knock sense into her besides knocking her teeth out. Geesh, take a parenting class, will ya? She says Max took care of her when she and Os were too busy, and he always protected her. Fer says she's bored. Victoria continues that she loves Max like a real son, and he is a real brother. In any case, since Fer won't apologize, the party is cancelled. I wouldn't give her a party even if she did apologize.

After her talk with JP, Maria tells the roomies that she's going to work for Victoria. Linda overreacts. She thinks Maria's going to be unhappy. Naty says it's Maria's life. In that case, Linda says she doesn't want to be criticized any longer by any of them, and she's not going to tell more lies. Maria is confused. Naty explains that Linda has conquered Osvaldo Sandoval. Maria is surprised.

Fer wants to talk to Max, and surprisingly, she's lowered her volume and softened her tone by hundreds of notches. She thinks Max knows how she is--impulsive. She says things she doesn't mean. Max nods. He knows, but she needs to think of others when she speaks. She asks if she hurt him. No duh, dimwit. He answers, much more than she thinks. It's because he loves her and wasn't anticipating anything of the like from her. She apologizes. She's stupid, foolish, etc. Much more, says Max. She hugs him and tells him that she loves him. He hugs her back but tells her that it's much easier to hurt people than to forgive them. She asks if she's forgiven. No, she's not. She sadly walks to the door (thinking of no party?), but Max was just being a kidder. He picks her up and tells her of course he forgives her. He throws her on the bed (awkward to me maybe because I don't have an actual brother?). He calls her mi amor and tells her that he loves her, and it's like nothing happened.

Max sweetly asks what Fer wants for her birthday party, and she tells him that it's cancelled because of what she said to him. Max says they're going to talk to Victoria about it right now. Fer says no, Vicki is really angry. Max asks, are you questioning my talent with my mother? (That makes me cry just a little. My sisters use to make me ask my mom anytime they wanted something because she couldn't say no to me.)

Victoria remembers seeing Maria with JP and Bernie. Why were they together? What could connect them? Max and Fer come into the dining room where Vicki is seated, and Victoria tells Max that if he's there to ask for Fer's party, he's wasting his time. She needs to be punished. Max says we all say things we don't mean sometimes, and all of Fer's friends, including her idiot boy friend are already waiting for the party. He says he understands that Victoria wants to discipline her, and he totally agrees. But he already forgave Fer, and he doesn't want the party cancellation to be the punishment. Max kisses Victoria. Moreover, he'd enjoy the party too. How noble you are, says Victoria. She agrees to continue everything as it was going. Fer hugs Max and calls him hermanito. Everyone looks happy.

Maria is reading a magazine, but thinking of Victoria in the church. What could have broght her there? Damn, these folks are noisy. Doorbell rings. Maria gets up, but no one is there. It rings ugh-ain. She gets up, swings it open, walks out to see who it is. Max pops out of the corner and puts his arms around her. He wants to spend the whole day with her. Does she accept or not? They kiss in the hallway and the beautiful song plays for them.

They're at a park kissing and hugging. Eating cotton candy and kissing. Buying ice cream. Max closes his eyes as Maria feeds him her ice cream. She puts it on his face and he grabs her and kisses her, wiping it off on her. He says, "Wow, that was the sweetest kiss I've ever received." Maria tells him not to anger her. Why would she be angry, Max asks. Maria says he's saying that he's had lots of girl friends. No, not lots. Just enough, he says. Maria says uh huh, don't talk to me. He grabs her by the waist and tells her that out of all of the girls ever, she's the only one he cares about. She puts more ice cream on his face as they laugh and kiss. They take those fun pictures where you stick your head in those funny bodies. Max buys balloons, and takes out a heart-shaped locket. He says it has a lot of feeling and value because he's giving it to her. She likes it. Maria proposes that they give the balloons out to kids. They do exactly that.

At home, Maria caresses a picture of her and Max kissing. She tells the roomies that today was the best day of her life. Max has given life to all of her dreams. Naty and Linda look at the picture. Linda admits that Max is VERY handsome, and Maria protectively takes the picture back. Naty asks if Maria told him about JP telling her to be humble amd return to Victoria's Casa de Modas? No, Maria wants to surprise him. Surprised he will be. She kisses the picture, and all three girls smile.

Maria is at the Casa de Modas, practicing walking in front of Victoria. She thanks Vicki, and Vicki says it's more important that Maria changed her opinion. She advises Maria. More force, so the hair moves. Well done. Victoria is being HELLA nice. Maria says when she's a big model, she'll always remember Victoria's role. Victoria says she's determined to make Maria the best model in Mexico. Now, with lots of force and attitude. Maria turns around, and Max walks in saying Madre. He has papers for her, and he is "surprised" as can be to see Maria there. Victoria introduces her as Maria Desamparada--the next star model of La Casa de Modas, and Max as her son. Uh oh. Max knows he's screwed. Maria looks at him painfully.

Got home late, and my recording cut off the kayak? So ends the episode. And what do ya kno? It's past 12. So ends Cielo's 20th birthday. The first ever without her mother. May she rest in peace.

Llena de Amor #110 (Mex. 115) Tue 1/18/11 The Siren calls to Oliver.

Garduño, fresh out of the slammer and making up for lost drinking, tells Mauricio either he marries Kristel, or he marries Kristel. Those are the options. Malicio feels the leash tightening around his neck, but Garduño points out that if he misses this opportunity to launder his cash in the resort Fedra’s investing in, Mauron’s corpse won’t be feeling anything anymore. Claro?
Ilitia’s upset that Marianela is back in México and surely will break up her marriage. Eman says not a chance. Mari hates him and it’s Ilitia’s fault, right? She set up the trap for Mari to find them in bed together, RIGHT?! Ilitia swallows hard and says nothing, which confirms it for Eman. Ilitia denies, but Emanuel is in Bad Cop mode today. He grabs her arm and, through clenched teeth, demands a confession. Ilitia just starts to cry, as Kristel sneaks up behind a pillar. Things get a bit heated as Ilitia swears she did nothing to make Mari upset, and Emanuel is highly skeptical.
Over at La Mala Noche, Fedra finally gives up on her lackluster “performance” and leaves the stage. Brandon mocks. Ya tiene recorrido su buen kilometraje (done already),” says Oliver. MariVicky thinks she must have had a fit of nerves; who knows why. El miedo no anda de burro (she ran away scared),” says Doris.
Back in the dressing room, Fraudra wails to Bernardo that Victoria is here with those petisos asquerosos (yucky midgets), and she thinks she recognized her! She orders Spidey and the pirate host to get rid of Vicky. Then she frantically looks around for a drink.
Lowrenzo lurches into the dollhouse in his neck brace and is busted by Muñeca. “Going to bed early, huh?” He claims he took her advice and went to the hospital to have his back checked. Turns out his little tripping in the agency was worse than he thought, but he just has to wear this brace for a few days. Muñeca laughs that it must have been quite a fall. “This is what happened to my grandfather…he started falling, and he went straight to the geriatrics doc! You should do the same!” Low does not appreciate that.
Axel’s listlessly and tunelessly practicing the guitar. I guess he isn’t enjoying it any more than I am, because he remembers Gretel telling him to stay away from La Mala Noche and immediately decides not to. He grabs sunglasses and a hat (yeah, that’ll work), but as soon as he opens his door, Lorena appears and tries to worm her way back into his life. Actually, more like bulldoze her way back into his life.
Doc Arnaldo has brought Netty roses and invited her out to dinner. She thanks him for the flowers, but doesn’t want to go out. She says she’s made it very clear that she values their friendship, but has no interest in dating him. He understands and says he wants to remain friends, too. Then Emiliano walks in (without knocking, because why would you ever knock or ring the bell at someone else’s house?) just in time to hear Arnaldo say he’d do anything for Netty, and for Netty to says she knows, remember the little favor he did for her yesterday?, and for the two of them to laugh and give the impression they are most intimate.
Fedra snarls at Spiderus about the new dancer he hired. No one here is allowed to have a fancy artistic name except La Reina de la Noche! Spidey reminds her she told him he could run this business however he saw fit. “What the heck kind of name is Sirena, anyway?!” snits Fedra. “De la LUNA!” SirenaGretelMan calls out, entering with some seductive writhing and a butterfly mask. La Reina is furious. No one else is allowed to look so spectacular! People will get them confused! Spidey hardly thinks so. La Reina and La Sirena spat, Sirena actually calling Fedra “mami” at one point, though she makes it sound like a generic label. Spidey holds La Reina back and she tells Sirena to take off that mask, or she’ll bite it off.
Emiliano is furious, thinking Netty spent the night with this fellow. None of your beeswax, say Netty and Arnaldo, but in more gracious terms. Arnaldo courteously takes his leave, and Emil continues his hurt tirade about Netty’s lover. “Since when is that any business of yours?” she asks. “Since you told me I was the only love of your life!” “That time has passed!” She asks if he wants her to pay back the mortgage money en especias (in kind). He says no; the mortgage repayment was a proof of love, which she wouldn’t understand. He walks out. Netty blinks rapidly.
Spidey tells Fedra she can’t unmask La Sirena. That was the deal; she gets to stay anonymous, and Manolo will find out who’s trashing Fedra in the newspaper. SirenaGretelMan thinks to herself that if Fedra unmasks her, mom will have a heart attack. Fedra growls and lunges at her prey like the rabid perra she is, saying it’s her club, her right to know who’s dancing. Fedra finally lets Sirena go on stage, but she doesn’t like this one bit.
Loathsome Lowrena chases Axel out of the house, begging for another chance to make him happy. “Why? Is my mom paying you double?” She claims she always loved him and misses him terribly. Well, he doesn’t miss her, and doesn’t want her back. Her stringy greasy hair probably isn’t helping. Did she get oily from being in Agent Orange’s house? Lowrena finally concedes and asks if she can at least have a goodbye hug. Axel relents, but Lowrena grabs him and turns it into a liplock just as Delicia comes out to the driveway.
Pirate Guy introduces La Sirena to great applause, most enthusiastically from Doris. Oliver thinks that’s a bit strange. Sirena comes onstage in next to nothing and starts shimmying to some tropical music. Though it’s apparent she didn’t have much time to practice, she’s still not as bad as Fedra. Oliver is transfixed. Especially when she struts over and shakes what she’s got right in his face. She finishes her “routine” and gets a big applause. Fedra is furious. “No one unthrones me…much less an atoradora de chango(?).”

Axel shoves Lorena off. “I made it clear there’s nothing between us!” “But when I’m near you I just can’t control myself! Can’t you feel the chemistry?” she asks, leeching onto him again. Delicia mutters something to the effect of “that shameless slut, what an annoying pain she is, coming here to steal Axel again! He’d better not go for it!” I think. She was pretty hard to understand. See vocab. Anyway, Axel unsuctions the parasite again. No means no! Delicia loudly congratulates them and sarcastically says they are just like Romeo and Juliet. Axel tries to defend himself but Delicia’s not listening or impressed. Delicia stomps back inside, Llorena cries some more like that’ll make Axel want her, and Axel chases after Delicia instead.
At La Mala Noche, Brandon makes fun of Oliver’s drooling over La Sirena, but Doris of course encourages it, saying it’s obvious she’s interested in him. Oliver can’t figure out why. Does she know him from somewhere? MariVicky is spaced out, thinking that La Reina, Fedra, and Juana Felipa are one and the same. Brandon thinks she’s bored with his company, but she says not at all, and she likes feeling safe and secure with him. Pirate Guy tells Oliver that La Sirena has requested his company in her dressing room. He clutches his bullet-wounded side and heeds the call of the siren, making some gesture of licking his fingers and rubbing them on his ears as the others hoot and tease.
In the kitchen back at Misery Manor, Axel tells Delicia to admit she was jealous when she saw Lorena kissing him. “Jealous? Better come down off your cloud, buddy, or you’re going to get another big bump (chipote) on your head when you fall.” “Why are you so stubborn? I’ve asked you to forgive me a thousand times! What more do I have to do?” He gets down on his knees and she walks away. Axel chases Delicia across the kitchen, still on his knees, and she tells him to get up or people will think he’s crazy. “I am crazy! Crazy about you!” Still on his knees, Axel asks Delicia to be his novia. “You’re asking a chacha (maid) to go out with you?” “No, I’m not asking a chacha. I’m asking YOU.” He wants a chance to prove that he is as kind and sweet as she deserves. He finally stands up, and she smiles. “Am I going to like the song you composed for me?” “Yes. Well, more or less.” He’s not THAT delusional about his musical skills, but whatever, he’s achieved his goal. They kiss.
Oliver nervously lets himself into La Sirena’s dressing room, where she continues her seductive song. She offers him a drink, and WHATEVER ELSE he wants. “Not so fast; I am not that easy,” he says. He wonders why she’s interested in him. La Sirena says, amid wriggles and writhes, that she’s dreamed of being with him so many times. That doesn’t clarify anything, but he weakens when she starts rubbing herself against him.
Netty tries to tell Gladiola that they’ve judged Emanuel unfairly all this time. He didn’t do what Marianela thought he did, and with all his other good deeds, he just can’t possibly be that bad. Emanuel walks in and says he knows Marianela is in México, and he wants them to tell him where to find her. Caras impactadas de Netty and Gladiola.
The patrons are now dancing at the club. Brandon tells Victoria she’s a really good dancer (she isn’t), just like Marianela. Vicky says she learned lots from Mari, including her hate. Brandon says he thought Mari was happy now. Oh. Right. Vicky excuses herself to the ladies’ room.
MariVicky lurks outside La Reina’s dressing room and listens as Fedra yells at Spiderus to get rid of La Sirena immediately. “Queen of hypocrites,” Mari thinks. “With all the money of the Ruiz y de Teresa family, she’s still practicing her old profession.” She tries to sneak away, but knocks over a large vase in the hallway, making a loud crash.
Victorianela runs down the hall and into the first room available, which happens to be the mens’ room. “Don’t mind me; carry on,” she gasps to the fellows present, leaning against a wall and pulling out her inhaler. After Spidey and Fedra and Spidey’s gun pass by in the hall, MV runs back the other way.
Emanuel insists that he is sure Marianela is in México. Netty and Gladiola insist that it can’t be true, because Marianela would have come to the pensión, and they haven’t seen her. Emanuel demands to know where she is. Netty says Victoria de la Garza is the only one who would know.
La Sirena tells Oliver she wants to spend the rest of her life with him. “Why me?” he asks. “Don’t you want all this?” she asks, gesturing to her nearly-nekkid self. She kisses him passionately. “With all respect, I’m not so indiscriminate. Women throw themselves at me all the time, like they want to use me as a semental (stud), but I’m not the type to just fall for any dame.” La Sirena says she never imagined he was afraid of a free and passionate woman like her. “I’m not afraid of anything, and I’ll prove it to you!” He flings himself at her, and they fall onto the dressing table, tangled together.
Delicia still isn’t agreeing to be Axel’s novia. She’ll think about it, but she’s not letting him off so easily. He’s happy with that and wants her to stop calling him “joven Axel” and to tutear him. She thinks that’s a bad idea. She wants to keep their relationship a secret so Fedra won’t chop her into pieces in her sleep. Axel wants everyone to know that Delicia is the woman he loves, but to protect Delicia he agrees that they will act the same as usual around the rest of the family, but more friendly in private. He thanks Delicia for being fabulous and says he’s got to run. Delicia wonders to herself where he went.
Netty tells Emanuel he can’t ask Victoria about Marianela right now, because she went dancing with Brandon. “Qué sexy,” he says sarcastically, but at least he didn’t say “No está sexy.” Emanuel tries to unpeptalk himself, wondering what difference it makes if Marianela is around. She’s married and wants nothing to do with him. Netty tells him he can’t give up on Marianela. “My life is a disaster,” he replies. “I’m only good for helping other people. When it comes to myself, I’m a coward.”
Kristel tells Ilitia how super cool the new nightclub was. “Then why are you home so early?” Kristel says she never has fun without her dear Mauron. But she wants to know what Ilitia and Emanuel were fighting about. Ilitia whispers that he discovered the trap they set for the whale, so they have to do something to save things. “WE? This is YOUR problem,” Kristel says. Ilitia tries to appeal to Kristel’s nonexistent empathy. “What you should be doing is throwing a huge Goodbye Marriage Megafiesta. Because if you keep this up, this no mochi-mochi, your marriage is going to bomb in no time. Tick-tock, tick-tock!” Kristel laughs. Ilitia is not amused. She tells Kristel she’s been living in hell, and she’s going to tell her why.
Lowrenzo plays with Cristián and Manzanita and throws a tantrum when Muñeca sends them to bed. He’s mad that she won’t let him get close to his son, especially now that Ilitia wants nothing to do with him. Muñeca tells him to calm down and try to be understanding. Ilitia’s having a hard time, what with being raped, finding out her dad is a lowlife, and with a failing marriage. Even her therapist says she isn’t in love with her husband. That’s news to Lowrenzo. He isn’t having such nonsense from some cheap quack doctor. Ilitia is in love with Emanuel, and they’re staying married, y punto! Muñeca says he can’t make her stay married to Emanuel when she’s in love with another man. QUÉ? She won’t tell him more. The doorbells rings. It’s Tejeda, with backup. He heard Muñeca helped El Lirio de Plata to escape.
La Sirena rests on her sofa, her feet on Oliver’s lap, as he tells her about his sweet little poison, whom he’ll never forget even though she sent him to the devil. La Sirena thinks one day soon he’ll get his happily-ever-after. He doesn’t want to keep talking about it when he’s got such lovely company to enjoy. They smooch and SirenaGretel is thinking she’s about to get lucky. “Well, the moment of truth has arrived,” Oliver says, unbuttoning his shirt. “Time to take off that disguise.” “NO!”
Axel parks across the street and heads over to La Mala Noche.
Fedra swills the sauce in her dressing room, nuttering to herself that Victoria is even worse than the gordinflona, and she’s brought those nasty polis with her, and with La Sirena, too…it’s ruining the whole night! Victorianela walks into the dressing room.
Ilitia has told Kristel that she was raped. Kristel is incensed. The horror! And on her wedding day! The rat should be choked to death! Ilitia is more concerned about saving her marriage. Okay, here’s the plan, says Kristel. FOCUS! When Emanuel comes home, you go in the bedroom, put on something super sexy, and seduce him! And you forget all about that other jerk! Ilitia likes this brilliant bit of strategery. Just then, Emanuel walks in, and couldn’t look less interested in Ilitia. “Where have you been, baby?” she asks. “Looking for Marianela, but you’ll be happy to know I didn’t find her.” Ilitia is perturbed, but Kristel coaches her into staying on track.
Fraudra tries to threaten Vicky, but she says give it up, Juana Felipa Pérez. Fedra forbids her to use that name, but Victoria says she knows all about Fedra’s past, and she can’t wait to see Marianela’s face when she hears it. “Who are you? Sometimes I’m sure you’re Marianela, and other times I’m sure you can’t be.” “One thing I am NOT is a slut, like you.” “Immigration records at the airport show that Marianela is in México, but not you. I’m not the only one leading a double life, right?” Bernardo walks in and Fedra grabs Victorianela around the neck, holding her stabber in a threatening manner.
Mañana: Emanuel and Ilitia get busy in the shower. Fedra, Bernardo, and Marianela fight in the dressing room.
Ya tiene recorrido su buen kilometraje – It’s already run its mileage; it’s done
El miedo no anda de burro – fear doesn’t ride a donkey; a teasing way of saying someone acts brave but then runs when things get scary.
Pitufos -- smurfs
Petisos asquerosos – disgusting shorties
En especies – in kind
Atoradora de chango – a monkey blockader? Or maybe she said toreadora de chango, like a bullfighter but with a monkey? Honestly, I’m not sure what Fedra called Victoria, but it wasn’t complimentary.
Guanga – loose (rude thing to say about a woman; what Delicia thinks of Lorena)
Gachona – annoying pain-in-the-neck drag (i.e. Lorena)
Venir de robona – I can’t find an official translation, but I’m thinking it means Lorena is a manstealing strumpet
Chipote – bump, lump
Chacha – housemaid
Semental – stud. As in the male horse or bull sense; kinda vulgar when said about a man.

La Verdad Oculta EP86 01/18/2011 – A depressed redhead, a funny carpenter, horny lovers and another cunning plan

* Carlos visits apparently very sick and tired Yolanda to talk about his ring and his daddy. In the meantime Mauricio and Juan José are dining in Hell with Sevilla and Zaida, and they are discussing their future seaside project. Sevilla is way too interested in JJ’s plans regarding the project and JJ confesses he’d love to manufacture furniture and an to own furniture shop. He loves carpentry which he mastered while he was imprisoned. The air freezes for a moment. Mauricio: headdesk. Zaida and Sevilla: oh, this guy has a wonderful sense of humor! Juan José: ???

* After her usual “I don’t know anything” speech Yolanda deigns to spill some beans to Carlos. She talks about her love for Mario, her friendship with Marta, the way she framed and warned Santiago and Mario’s love for Marta, but forgets to mention the dancer was Carlos’s mother and she was murdered by Adolfo. Her death was an accident. Carlos doesn’t believe Yolanda, surely Adolfo killed her! He won’t tell anyone what he learned from Yolanda and won’t go to the police either, but he keeps his mouth shut only for her sake and not for Adolfo. Does she have any idea how many years she’ll have to spend in jail if the police unveils the smuggling business? Yolanda cries and says she never smuggled anything, her job was to keep in touch with the jewelers. Ay, Yolanda, Yolanda! And what kind of relationship did Adolfo and Roberto have? She doesn’t know but suspect Roberto was working for him for a while. The hug each other and repeat how much they love each other.

*In the Genovés villa David and brooding Fausto talk about Mario and Gabriela. David confesses he feels like his father never died. However, he’s worried about Gabriela, who’s afraid they try to hide something horrible from her, something that’s worse than what happened to her mother. Does Fausto has any idea what kind of horror stories must be running through her mind? Fausto starts to cry. David tells him Gabriela has every right to learn the truth and he shouldn’t be worried: he’ll always be Gaby’s father… Like Mario will always be David’s father. All right, all right. Tomorrow he’ll tell her everything. Why tomorrow? Please, give him time to prepare.

* While having breakfast, Lionheart and his little Emma Woodhouse are planning to go to the cinema with Julieta. Back in the casa Genovés Alejandra seeks Fausto’s advice. What the hell should she do with Bertha and Juan José? She tells Fausto Roberto’s story and the kiss of death JJ and Zaida shared. What if Gaby was wrong, asks Fausto. Let him talk with JJ. No, no, no, she’s done with JJ, she came to talk about Bertha. How could she become Adolfo’s helpmate? Fausto somehow understands her motives and encourages Alejandra to talk with her. She’s the only person who could convince her to leave Adolfo. Alejandra smiles and leans on his shoulder. Everyone loves Daddy Fausto, and Fausto, who also loves his biological, adopted and countless foster children, tries to convince Alejandra to talk with Juan José.

* Dora, la Exploradora y Desesperada goes back to her friend in Michoacan. Leonardo visits Juan José and while curious Chicles is eavesdropping at the staircase he tells JJ Dora fled again. JJ explodes. However, Leonardo isn’t sure that Dora would’ve testified anyway… Their only hope is finding the letter. JJ thinks Garnica kept it in his briefcase. Yes, Chicles, you heard it well.

* At a hip beauty salon Zaida visits her favourite hairdresser… Ulises! I have a baaad feeling about this. While he’s designing a new hairstyle to his diva, his queen, his old friend, they talk about her plans and affairs. By the way, she’d love to rent one of Ulises’s flats. *Viewerville: no way!*

* David is very worried about the business but he found out how to solve the problem: next week he’s going to arrange a meeting where Gabriela will take over the leadership of the Campo Real hotel chain! *Gaby’s expression says: who are you and what did you do to my husband?* What? Has he gone mad? She’s just started to learn about the hotel business! Next week? She needs at least a year! Thanks for trusting her but please, don’t do anything stupid.

* FaustiCupido calls JJ to fix an appointment with him. Across the way cheerful David asks Abelardo about the masks and high-tech stuff Fausto uses. He’d like to talk with the man who made them. Why does he need them? For a madness… the same mad idea that has come into his father’s mind. No, no, no, no, no, David, don’t do that to Abelardo, he’s already worried sick because of Mario’s scam, no more crazy ideas, please. David says Mario did everything in order to save their assets, and he’s going to do the same. When poor Abelardo learns about Gabriela and the business meeting he always gets a heart attack but nothing can change David’s plans.

* JJ brings the kids back to Elsa’s flat. Caramelo invited Chicles to spend the night there, and Elsa doesn’t mind it, he may sleep on the couch. The children are over the moon and for a change the adults manage to act like two parents who don’t hate each other. After JJ leaves a daydreaming expression flashes through Elsa’s face.

*Alejandra and her big depressed aura go back to work and tell Mina about the kiss. A few minutes later Bertha show up at the studio to tell Ale she found a new luxurious home! Oh, great, says Ale sarcastically. And how is she going to pay the rent? Anyway, she doesn’t care, and she doesn’t want to see her stupid sister anymore. Why did she tell Adolfo Mario had a tumor?! One day she’ll end up in jail, for God’s sake! However, it’s not Alejandra’s problem, Bertha’s an adult, she may do whatever she wants. Good bye! At Elsa’s the kids are watching an exciting movie in the TV when Elsa sends them to bed. Oh no, please! Come on, kids, you have to sleep! Caramelo obeys but Chicles secretly stays awake and keeps watching the TV.

* Whiney Bertha complains about Alejandra to Carlos: she promised to help her but now she hates her and she kicked her out of her office! And why did she do that, asks Carlos. Well, because she told Adolfo Mario had brain tumor. Carlos is shocked, how could Bertha do that? Yes, yes, yes, she knows she’s an idiot. Fortunately Carlos likes that idiot much. At Leonardo’s his sister calls the Faidellas to talk about Paulita. It’s high time to go back to school and Leo agrees. Paula has to leave tomorrow. She doesn’t like the idea and Julieta also feels sorry for her, but Leo promises to his girlfriend they’ll live together later.

* In the Ávila condo Édgar and Adolfo have a conversation about what happened at Mario’s. Dolphie says it wasn’t Édgar’s fault and now he wants him to keep an eye on Zaida and a man called Dante Sevilla. Persuade Zaida to introduce him to Sevilla and work for him as an assistant. He gives him a thick envelope filled with cash which transforms Édgar into an enthusiastic employee. Yes, boss, he’ll do anything he wants!

* In the meantime Adolfo’s favourite blond protégée and his not so favourite son are doing the nasty. In the Genovés villa Gaby and David also get in the mood to make babies. No, Gaby, you shouldn’t worry, David doesn’t feel sick at all.

* Next morning at Elsa’s the girls are talking about their future while Chicles is sleeping. Doesn’t Caramelo love Elsa anymore? Of course, she does, but she can’t wait for the day when she, Elsa and Asunción will live together in a bigger house. No, unfortunately that’s impossible, says Elsa, and anyway, Limón prefers living with Juan José. If the social worker asked Caramelo with whom she wanted to live what would she answer? Poor kid doesn’t like the question, she wants to live with both of them. However, Elsa, who needs to know the answer, kindly asks her again, to which the girl shyly responds she’d choose her uncle.

* Carlos visits Yolanda again and learns from the maid that she’s in a very bad shape, she hardly eats and doesn’t leave her bedroom. She look exhausted which makes Carlos very worried. What happened to her, is she sick? No… she just lost her will to live. Muñeco hugs her. In the Genovés villa Abelardo and FaustiMario are laughing at David who’s chasing his wife. He’s obviously in better shape and he’ll tell the world who gave him so much strength. After blushing Gaby leaves Blondie tells Fausto he has a cunning plan that may solve their problem with the hotels. They’ll do what his father did and they’ll use high technology.

La Fea Más Bella #173-174 1/18/11 Swamped on a yacht.

Capitulo 173.
Read Julie's original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Irmita is reluctant to tell her children that Rafael came home to die because it will just awaken their old pain, but Luigi says they have a right to know.

2. Lety tells Caro that she told her whole life to a fisherman she just met because she felt totally comfortable with him. She’s obviously enchanted with him.

3. Fern calls MamaJ and says they need Lety for a meeting with the lawyers. He begs for her phone number so he can explain it himself. All she can do is pass the message. She says, “Confie en mi.”

4. In Lety’s fantasy, Fernando walks across the lawn and says, “Lety, finally I found you. I miss you. I can’t live without you.” He almost kisses her, but then he transforms into Aldo and Lety is pleasantly surprised, and then he disappears. The bellas teach Lety how to walk.

5. Luigi and Marcia met with Ricky without Fern, and Ricky is surprised Fern didn’t attend. Fern says, “Our executive producer and director held the meeting without informing me.” Luigi acts like he and Marcia humiliated Fern. Fern rebukes Marcia privately and says she’s not playing by the rules. Marcia says he changed the rules when he slept with Lety.

6. MamaJ tells Lety what Fern said. Lety says she can’t leave and she sends Tomás in her place. Caro glows when she gets a surprise call from an old friend. Caro pushes Lety to wear one of Caro’s dresses. They meet Caro’s friend, who is Aldo. Lety and Aldo are again charmed, and Caro looks a smidge jealous.

7. Marcia asks Fern if Lety is coming to tomorrow’s meeting. She uses the opportunity to remind him that Lety delivered his head to the board and maybe she wants to disappear with their company. He returns to his one bright spot, gazing at Lety’s picture. MamaJ tells him Tom is going to the meeting. Fern shouts, “Is your daughter nuts?” Then he calms down and says, “Tell Lety not to hide. I need her.”

8. Caro asks Aldo, “Did you invite me so I’d bring Lety? You’re interested in her!” He only chuckles.

Capitulo 174.
Read Amanda's original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Aldo admits to Caro that he’s drawn to Lety because she’s so innocent and so injured. Caro has known him 1-1/2 years and he’s always been a loner.

2. Marcia again speculates that Lety disappeared because she’s taking Conceptos for revenge. Fern says Lety is incapable of such a thing. She goads him with her favorite taunt, that he’s defending someone who betrayed him. She asks if he fell in love with Lety, and he doesn’t want to talk about it. Marcia demands and answer and finally he admits that yes, he loves Lety.

3. They’re enjoying dinner on the yacht (although Caro’s feeling left out) until the wine loosens Lety’s emotions and her great pain pummels her again. “He lied to me!” Soon she’s gushing about how happy she is here. Caro says they’re three loners. Caro says her house is empty because her obsession with work destroyed her three marriages.

4. Irmita says her son still refuses to talk to his father, but Luigi says she needs him now. The topic strikes a nerve for Luigi. He calls Jorge and implores him to come for his mother’s sake.

5. Aldo talks about his two “sons,” his book and his restaurant. Lety fishes in her purse and a photo falls out. Aldo picks it up and says, “So this is Fernando?” Lety wants her picture back RIGHT NOW and she says she doesn’t feel well; she wants to leave.

6. Lety tells Caro that her pain is too much to bear and she will never be free of it. She tells her whole story off camera. Caro tells her to stop thinking about that and enjoy the here and now, like their night on the yacht. Lety says that was a dream and she woke up, the same fea as always. Caro says yes, she’s the same Lety who is unwilling to change. Her insecurity is in the way she sees herself

7. Aldo tells Lety that her body reflects her soul and vice-versa. Lety runs down the beach in her dress. He shows her where the fresh and saltwater meet in an eternal kiss, and she gazes at him. He talks about the harmony of nature, and she says, “With you I feel harmony and peace.”

Cap. #50

Have your barf bags ready.  This episodio is going to be a hard one to stomach!

We pick up as Alicia calls Leonardo on his cell to make a date to meet him about something she needs to discuss.  Unbenkownst to Ali, her absconded sister is sitting right next to him on the couch at the house in the hills listening to Leo's half of the conversation.   Ali says she wouldn't bother him but it's extremely important and she thinks he might be able to help.  Leo agrees to meet Ali but, of course, tells Eva only that he's got a business deal to take care of and that he'll use the time away to take care of things that are waiting for him to get done.  She says fine and agrees to stay off the phone and to stay inside.

At the same time, Victoria has come over to Daniel's and gone up to his bedroom to "help" him in his time of need.  She gets his things ready so he can get cleaned up and says it should make him feel better.  He says he doubts anything could make him feel better.  He is so embarrassed, he says, to have her fussing after him this way.  No, no.  Icktoria's happy to see to his needs.  He goes in to take a shower.  Icky says she'll start picking up the mess in his room.  (What?  This gal actually knows how to do menial labor?  I wouldn't trust her to fold socks! ¡Qué desastre!)  While Dan's in the shower, Vicki looks around and spies the torn airline ticket.  She thinks to herself that he was going on a trip with the "poor little thief" (the only thing Eva took was Dan, and that was fair and square), but as things turned out like they should have all along, he won't be.  "--You think she's a thief and you two are finito.  My mother's plans turned out to be a terrific success."   Just then Laurita enters the bedroom to check on her father and finds her worst nightmare standing in front of her looking like the Cheshire Cat ready to pounce on an unsuspecting canary.

At the Arizmendi manse, Renata opens the door for Don Julio's attorney, Licensiado Basañez.  She asks if he's there for Marcela because she's not home yet.  He explains he's there for Don J.  Renata tries to tell him Don Julio won't see him because he's had another attack and is recuperating.  Lic. Basañez tells her he just called a bit ago.  They have an appointment.  "Go and tell him I'm here, Renata."  (This man doesn't mess around.) Ren hasn't got a choice and does.

Laurita demands to know what Icky's doing there in her father's bedroom.  Icky tells her to change her tone and get with the program [ubicarse= settle in] since from now on she's going to be seeing her regulary.   Laurita calls her a liar cuz her father doesn't want her.  Icky says well, you think so because you want Eva, right?  "--Yes! and don't you mess with her!"  Icky tells her not to confuse things: Eva messed with her.  She saw her boyfriend and wanted to steal him away from her.   Laurita corrects her.  He left Icky because he didn't love her!  Icky gets snitty and tells her she doesn't understand these sorts of things so let her explain something!  Laurita tells her she doesn't want her explanations and to leave "her" house right now!  Vicky mixes a cup of condescension with a pinch of sarcasm and continues.  (Listening to this you start to wonder who's the kid here and who's the adult!)  "--What a shame I can't please you.  You'd better get used to see me around because starting today I'm going to be here every day."  "--It can't be true!"  '--Well, it is, because Eva tricked you and your daddy and you know why?  She stole all the money she could and then scrammed.  Now your father is going to go back with me quicker than you can imagine!"

Back at D. Julio's, he and the lawyer are working on a document.  Lic. B asks if he's sure Julio wants it this way.  He says absolutely and he wants him to get it done right away.  He's to tell absolutely no one about it, much less Marcela.   The lawyer says he knows he can trust him entirely.  Just make sure you really understand what you're asking me to do.  Julio is, he says.  The lawyer asks about his latest attack.  Julio admits he knows he's deteriorating physically but mentally he's clear as a bell.  Julio tells him that when the papers are done and ready to sign not to bring them personally, just let him know.  He'll send for them.  (That doesn't sound very smart considering.)

Meanwhile, Leo is at the park waiting for Ali to arrive.  He tells himself this is a double-play for him.  Not only does he have the lovely Eva in his bed at the cabin, but he'll now have Ali in his bed, too.  He says he's feeling so lucky that he's going to gamble at the casino that night for a little diversion.  Just then, Ali walks up and starts to explain her problem.  It's that she's got a huge problem with her sister and needs to get a job ASAP.  Leo asks what she's prepared to do.   Ali may be slow, but the meaning isn't lost on her this time.

At the same time, Manipulative Marcy arrives home and asks Ren what Julio wanted with their lawyer.  Ren explains she tried to find out but couldn't because when she brought in their coffee, they refused to say a word till she left.  Ren then mentions that Eva called and spoke with D.J.  Marcy explodes and asks how she could let her do that?  Ren says she tried to stop it but D. Julio found out and took the phone from her--nearly grabbed it out her hand, even.  Marcy says all right, then tell her as soon as the lawyer gets ready to leave.  Marcy can't imagine why their lawyer would be there.

Julio is laughing to himself and looking at the bottle of medicine.  He tells himself Marcela won't win this duel, he will.  Mad Marcy barges into his office at that point demanding to speak to him.  Julio doesn't want to talk to her but she steam rolls along anyway.

Back in the park, Ali says she could learn anything.  Leo has visions of her dressing like a French maid and attending to his "personal" needs.  He offers her the job as a servant in his house since they need a replacement.   Ali, thankfully, tells him she'd rather starve than work as a servant.  She says if he has contacts in movies or television she could do their makeup.  He says well, he just opened a modeling agency who could use her.  He is one of the owners and will get her an interview.  She's elated.  He tells her he wants her to make the grade. Why?  Because he wants her close to him everyday.  Ali is suck-it-in impactadissima from Playboy Numero Uno's romantic revelation.

Back in Julio's office, Marcy screams about the phonecall he took from Eva.  Julio says yeah, but I don't owe you any explanation about my phone calls!  So if you're finished, GET. OUT.  --Nobody but NObody orders an incensed Marcela around!  She screams at the top of her lungs about how he's also been taken in by this thief.  "--She robbed us and you are committing the same mistake and defending her!!!  It's incredible the way you let yourself be manipulated by her!!!!! Don't be such an idiot!!!!!"  Julio yells back that the only person who's manipulated him all his life was her, she's his cross to bear.  Marcy hisses dangerously that he'll be sorry for saying that! No, he says,  she is the only person who is going to be sorry!  She isn't finished and starts in next about why the attorney came.   He coolly tells her with a twinkle in his eye that she'll know in due time.  She replies tersely that she won't be signing any divorce papers.  She'd rather be widowed first.  He laughs.  "--There's no doubting that, is there?"  She chucks him on the chin and tells him to double his dosage.  She doesn't want to cry ahead of the burial.  She leaves.  He wipes her touch from him face and angrily thinks to himself that she will cry--and a lot!

It's now dinner time at Dano's. Icky-Vicky is there at the table while he eats.  She tells him she knows he's going through a bad time.  She's getting a large charge out of being a sympathetic philosophical whiz and is playing it to the hilt.  "--Life has many unexpected turns.  This is life giving you another chance to learn from your mistakes and mend your ways."  (Wow.  Such  metaphysical depth.  NOT.)  She lays it on thick that despite him thinking she might be happy about what happened, she actually hurts for him. (Gag alert!)  All she wants is to see him happy again.  Dan can't believe how kind she's being to him after all that has happened.  She tells him that's in the past now.  She understands that all men are suckers for an innocent and pretty face (Eva's) and that it always gets them into horrible jams.  She says she's there for him, though and the world could be crumbling around them but they have each other and he knows now that he can count on her for anything!

At the cabin later that evening, Eva hears a noise like something falling in the living room.  She goes out to check if Leo's gotten back.  She sees the lamp is on the floor, thinks it must have been the wind, and picks starts to put it upright.  Just then she's grabbed from behind by... Tony.  He covers her mouth to keep her from screaming and menacingly tells her he's there to collect what she owes him.  Eva breaks away from him and wants to know how he found out where she was staying.  He tells her he knows everything, an army of police were at the house and he knows she took off with $25,000 she stole from her boyfriend, Daniel.   She insists it's not true!  '--Well, there was a whole squadron of police that say otherwise at Justa's place. Ahh!  Yes, I know.  That's what Alicia swore to and perjured herself over."  He goes into how sad and tearful Ali was and makes a big deal about how he was there to "console" her.  This angers Eva and she warns him to steer clear of her sister.  "--No worry."  He leers at her then.  Eva's the one he's interested now.

Back at Dano's dining-room table, Icky is telling Dano how we all make mistakes.  Nobody is perfect.  Of course, Dano says he thought Eva was and he let himself be fooled by it all.  Vicky says they all were fooled, but thank gawd they found out in time.  He says then that she doesn't have to stick around on his account, but she insists she won't leave his side till he's safely tucked in his bed.

At the cabaña again, Eva loses patience and asks what Tony's there for.  He tells her to cut the good girl crap and yells that he knows that she's a stinking thief and worse than him.  He starts with the old fake charm again and says, "--Let's suppose you didn't take the money.  Then why did you run away, huh?  By the way, you are pretty slick.  This place is a heck of a lot nicer than Doña Justa's place."  Eva yells at him to get out and leave her in peace.  He growls back that he isn't going anywhere.  "--This time it isn't going to be so easy getting rid of me."

Back at Dano's, Laurita is whimpering to Francisco and Jackie over Icky being there again.  Laurita doesn't believe that Eva stole anything.  She's sure that it's just a trick Vicky planned to separate her dad and Eva.  Vicky didn't even know they were getting married, she adds.  (This kid is definitely the real genius here!)  Franc tells them he thinks the best thing would be for Eva to turn herself over to the police so that there would be an investigation.  It's only common sense, he says because then they could learn what really happened.  (What planeta is he living on?  Nobody in this telenovela has a lick of common sense.)  Laurita asks pitiably what if she's left and isn't coming back ever?  Franc wants to get her dad to come up and calm her down.  Laurita says she doesn't want to see him because he's with that witch, Vicky, right now!   (Bad move.  They need to break that bruja's spell over him and fast!)

Downstairs, Dano is telling Icky Bimbutt how badly he feels for letting himself be tricked by Eva.   Vicky tried to kill herself and it nearly cost him his friendship with her brother, as well!   They were both victimized, she says.  Vicky asks if that fight in the parking lot outside the agency that time was because of Eva.  Dan admits it was.  She lies to him, saying right after they announced their engagement Eva approached her and said she thought he had a lover on the side.  That's why Vicky became so crazy jealous.   "--Her intention was to separate us so you would be free and not feel guilty falling in love with her."  For the umpteenth time our shocked Dano can't believe how incredibly evil Eva was.   (I warned you this was going to make you all want to puke!)

Back at the cabin again, Tony tells Eva he wants the money.  She keeps yelling at him that there is no money!  He tells her nobody believes her, not the police and not even her wonderful Daniel.  He loses patience, manhandles her and screams that he knows she lying!  If he doesn't want him hanging around Ali then she will have to pay him.  It's $25,000.  He tells her he'll settle for $10,000.  What's the big deal?  She'll still have $15,000.  Eva keeps insisting to him she doesn't have any money.  He gets tired of using the "charm"  and finally pulls a knife on her.  He threatens her with giving away her hideout and says he'll be back the next day for his cash.  In the meantime, he taunts, he'll be "consoling" Alicia.   Eva is mortified.

At the boarding house, Adrian and D. Ricardo make dinner for Justa.  Adrian says he still wants his daddy to return.  He knows the guy can be tough on him (flashback to Tomas pulling a gun and threatening to use it on his son) and does prefer the attention and care he gets from Ricardo and Justa, but he's the only dad he has, he says.

At the casino, Leo asks where Tony is.  He's called him a hundred times, but he hasn't been answering his calls.   Just then his goons bring in Tomas.  Leo's mad that they didn't kill the guy like he ordered.  El Gallo says they couldn't find him; he was too well hidden.  Bottom line, the guys he hired blew it.  Leo wants him dead.  Tomas begs for his life as they search his pockets and find the envelope on him with the ransom money he got from Ricardo.  It coveres the debt.  Squirrely Tomas begs again for his life and says he's got a little boy who needs him.  (Ugh!)  Eventually Leo decides to let him go.

Vicky and her totally chastened Daniel go up to his bedroom.  They sit on the couch.  Dan is mentally wasted.  Icky keeps up the sweet, consoling chatter.  Life goes on.  It's good that he's learned his lesson, yadda, yadda.  Their duty is to now try and to be happy somehow.  She puts her hand on her arm and smiles.  He looks at her hand on his arm and considers what that means to him now.  (Hopefully, he's too exhausted to worry about that.)

Meanwhile, Don Julio sends for Renata.  He tells her he wants her to go immediately to an address he's giving her where they'll hand her over an envelope.  He won't tell her what it's about and tells her not a word to anybody.   He puts a tender hand on her arm and reminds her she's the only one he trusts there.  She seems to appreciate the sentiment.

In another part of the mansion, Motherly Marcy asks Vicky how things went with Daniel.  Bimbutt says marvelously!  Mama's plan has worked like a charm.  --Any mention of marriage?  No, says Vicky, but soon.  She is has lots of experience consoling Daniel and has been playing her cards just right.  It's strange, though, she adds.  With everything he's told her she actually feels sorry for him, though she's very happy to see him suffer.  (Sick, yeah.)  --Did he apologize?  Icky says no, but he's totally embarrassed at the way things have gone, especially remembering how she tried to commit suicide.  He couldn't bear to look her in the eyes because of it.  She admits she's surprised how well her mother's plans worked out.  Marcy tells her he'll be back with her very soon.   "--Just you wait and see!"

After Tony's gone, Eva is in tears again and prays for an answer as to what to do next.  She's upset because she has nobody to turn to.  Dan has though.  He's sitting on the couch and considering his situation and probably   thinking about his caring and long-suffering Bimbutt.

At the same time, Eva starts to call the police and turn herself in, but she remembers her sister begging her not to go to the police.  "--All they'll do is lock her up and throw away the key" she remembers Ali saying.  Eva decides not to call them after all.

Adrian gets his wish.  Tomas makes his surprise return to the boarding house.  Tomas tells him his Daddy's back to stay.  Justa and Ricardo have just lost their appetites.  Tomas gets snotty with them.  He pulls a control fit and forces Adrian to go back up to the room with him and to hell with the kid getting to eat any of his supper.   Ricardo tells Justa he would love to give the guy a beating so he'd get the guy to straighten himself out and take proper care of Adrian like a decent father!

Tony shows up at the casino as Leo is telling El Gallo that things are going great and he has a beautiful girlfriend, to boot.  El Gallo tells him they found Tomas and he won't have to kill him now since Leo made his peace with the guy.  Tony gets paid and Leo goes off to play at the tables.  Tony smiles and says to himself he knows Leo is interested in Alicia, but if Leo gets involved with her he will pay for it.

Marisol is looking at wedding gowns and anxious to get married and to be done with her crappy job for good. Ali tells her about her interview at the modeling agency. Mari warns her that nobody gives anything for free. Ali laughs and says well in this case she'd pay him gladly. Yes, she likes him a lot. Even better, he is handsome and he is rich!

Leo wins at roulette and kisses the cheap blonde slut next to him. (Damn, she sounds like she's still in Jr. High and snuck out in her mother's fancy dress and high heels! I wouldn't put it past Leo to be that kind of perv, either!) Yep, Lady Luck is with him, he says.

Back at the manse, the maid comes in to tell Renata her taxi is waiting. What to tell Sra. Marcy? That she's had to go and will be back ASAP--but only if she asks. Just as Renata is getting ready to exit the back way, though, Marcy finds her in the kitchen and asks why there's a taxi. Ruh-roh! Is she going somewhere? Where's she going and why is she going without letting her know?

Will Renata cover for Don Julio or will she spill the beans?  Will Tony give away Eva to the police?  Will Daniel go back to Vicki despite Laurita's despising her and despite the fact he really doesn't love her?  Will Leo seduce Alicia?  ----Stay tuned.
