Heridas January 5
Cesar throwing his sword down the hall to stick into the wall was really cool. The way they showed it with the dramatic effect, it had to be on purpose I think. I wonder how many tries it took. Regardless, pretty cool. Cesar proceeds to try and drink an entire decanter of booze in one gulp, then try not to hurl. Though we all know he’s ok with barfing in his living room. What is it with everyone having all their booze in glass bottles anyway, do you actually know anyone who does that? I think I’ll take my booze out of their perfectly good bottles and put them in label-less bottles instead, give a little more risk to my drinking.
Fab, holding the baby, asks Julio how he feels. Something about now not being a good time for the operation. Fab says he doesn’t know how to call Julio to his son, he wants to call him papa, not Julio. Julio is touched and pleased. Fab says the baby will call him grandpa. Julio says he always doubted Cesar a bit. (Then why did you get involved in all this, genius?) He tells Fab that he should stay far away from Cesar and that he (Fab) is a good noble man and son. Fab hands the baby to Julio and says “go to your grandpa, and love him, because he is my dad.” Ok we get it. Very touching. Let’s move on.
At the hacienda, Nati shuffles in with the Gabinos in tow. Nati says Gonz is already present. They hear some noises, mrs. Gabino says it sounds “like fear.”
Vicente and Luciano finish up with whatever it is they are doing that will put Cesar in jail. They talk about Babe Lawyer and if she likes Al or not, like a couple of teenagers.
Gabino wants to shut the door to keep the wind out, Nati says keep it open, before Gabino can say “close it” again, Bertha walks in. Bertha says it can be easy or tough, Nati, you decide. Nati says no, Bertha, YOU will be the one to make that decision.
Amparito is telling Roman how sad she will be when Raul and Carola leave. She’s happy for them but she will miss Raul terribly. They plan the going away party for tomorrow, Roman promises to help and Amparito likes the idea. He gets a call from Luis Alberto. LA and Nuria have apparently started their trip to Brazil, Roman wishes them well. I agree, though, shouldn’t some of that money those two idiots are running away with be returned to SLI, or even some to Mophead (even though I hate her) since some of it was stolen from her? Why doesn’t anybody speak up for their cut? Al was right there in their room with them, he knows what’s going on, he should have straightened that out. I guess he’s too busy being ‘noble’ and selling all of his own stuff to help the others. Bah.
Bertha pours herself a drink to try and be melodramatic. She says “Gabino, you are the one who hurt Chocolate, right?” He says yes, on Bertha’s orders. Bertha says he needs a better answer than that. She tells Nati that she wants to end this once and for all, give me the gun! Nati says “I don’t have it, Miranda does!” Bertha puts her hand to her forehead, a momentary lapse of composure. She says to herself, but loud enough for people in the hall to hear apparently, “how long am I going to have to wait for those imbeciles?” Miranda’s voice says “you don’t have to wait any longer, here we are” as she, Al, and Fern walk into the room. This is the part in a Scooby-Doo episode where somebody gets their face torn off to reveal it was just a mask. Bertha tries to act cool and sip her drink, saying “ok, let’s get started.” She tells the Gabinos and Nati to leave, but Miranda says that Nati should stay. Gabino says they’ll wait outside if she needs anything. Bertha says that Gabino has something very very important to confess. Gabino looks like what I imagine I looked like when I was a kid and got busted stealing a candy bar. The Gabinos step outside. Miranda walks to the desk and takes the gun out of the desk drawer, it was there the whole time! Ah Nati, you clever witch. Miranda wants to know what went on ‘that night’ and with ‘this gun’, because everything since has its origin in ‘that night.’ Bertha gets bugeyed. She says the gun was the end, not the beginning, things started way before that. “Right Fern? When you, Sophia, and I were all in love with Alfredo Luque!” I have always had a hard time believing that Alfredo was sooo great for all these ladies to be in love with him, since Alfredo is played by Arturo Peniche, who was the glorious fop Antonio de Guzman in Alborada. There was nothing manly about him. He flipped his hair around like Alicia on La Fea. So when I hear the name Alfredo Luque, I think of sexually ambiguous Antonio. Not a ladies man by any stretch. Anyone else have this problem?
Cesar stares out the window and smokes. He swears things won’t end this way. Nobody gets over on Cesar Beltran like this. This is not how I roll. I ain’t gonna go out like that. His phone rings, it’s Roman on the other end. Cesar is pleased to hear from him, he wants to hire him. “To find LA and Nuria, riiiiiiight?” Cesar turns ugly fast. “What do you know about them, infeliz?” Roman tells Cesar that they left the country. Roman says he just called to tell him that God will thank him for his help. With the money LA and Nuria took, they are going to help orphans. They will name the orphanages after him. Something like that. Cesar is impactado. People will bless the name of Cesar Beltran, Roman continues. Cesar hangs up and mumbles to himself. He can’t believe his money is in a stranger’s hands. He tries to guzzle a whole bottle of booze again. I think LA/Nuria’s plan is stupid, all Cesar has to do (providing he’s still alive) is find where things are being done in his name and he’ll find those two dimwits.
Bertha continues. She told Sophia (Al’s mom) that Fern and Alfredo were lovers. This and bad medication brought on Sophia’s death. Santiago was off studying for the priesthood, or in the priesthood, or something else sufficiently priestly, that Sophia never saw him again before her death. Al is furious at the flippant talk about his mother’s death and lets Bertha know about it, grabbing her by the neck. Bertha gets off on it. Perhaps she and Lasagna could have gone to some of the same underground fetish clubs in a different situation? Anyway, Miranda gets Al to let Bertha loose. Fern says well, then what happened next? Bertha says she thought she had a clear road at Alfredo, but Alfredo told her no, he was in love with Fernanda. He had spoken with Sophia before she died and Sophia gave her blessing for Alfredo to go back to Fern and start up again. Fern is impactada. This is why she told lies to their father and had her married off to Gonzalo? Bertha says yes. After Gonz and Fern married, she started to see Alfredo but it was always the same, he talked about Fernanda. Finally she got the message and decided to stay away from him forever. It was earlier ‘that night’, I think she said. She acts like her story is over. Nati speaks up and calls her serpent tongue, and what about the part where Bertha told Alfredo that Fern wanted to run away with him? Bertha says, “how do you know that?” Nati just says to tell the story. Bertha has a green flashback of telling Alfredo that Fern wants to run away with him, if she doesn’t want to go, convince her! Back in the present, Bertha laments how she loved Alfredo since the first day. Bertha says something about them both being men of just one woman, but I’m not sure to whom she was referring. Alfredo for one, the other Alejandro? Or Gonzalo? I couldn’t quite figure it out.
After the commercial, the story continues. Nati says Bertha speaks true, she (Nati) and Tomasa heard the whole thing outside the library door. Fern says “who were you trying to shoot, Bertha?” Bertha says “You, Fern. I loved Alfredo with all my soul, but with you in the middle there was nothing I could do. When I came in the room, Alfredo was on the floor. Gonzalo didn’t kill him, it was me.” Throughout this portion, we are seeing green flashbacks to ‘that night’ that illustrate the action. In the flashback, she thinks “I’m so sorry Alfredo, I was going to shoot Fern and then Gonzalo, not you!” Back to the present – Bertha sniffles and refills her drink, then guzzles it down. She says that was the only time she ever asked anyone for forgiveness, she thought he was dead! That’s why she ran away, if she knew he was alive, she would have taken care of him! Sniffle sniffle. Al steps forward and says he doesn’t know if she deserves prison or the nuthouse, she’s bad in the head! Bertha says she had it all perfectly planned out. She didn’t permit Gonzalo near the body to see the shot was in the back, since Alfredo and Gonzalo had been face to face. Fern says, then why did Gonz run me out of the hacienda? Bertha says she had him do it. She told Gonz that if Fern was close to the girls she might kill them. At this, Miranda tries to attack Bertha. She says she’s going to take her out but Al holds her back. We are treated to a full 30 seconds of dramatic stares from each person.
Roman and Amparito are laughing and planning the partyand Francisco comes in, surprised to see Roman! He says he’ll be around more regularly, if Amparito wants and Francisco permits. Francisco says give me a break already, my sister likes you, jeez. He says “there’s just one thing I want from you sister,…” “what?” “coffee.” Ha ha ha laughs, she goes to get coffee. Francisco gives Roman a hard time about not being stable. They talk on about some stuff that doesn’t quite make sense. In the end he says it’s all fine for the two of them. Lots of hugs.
Bertha says now you know everything, I killed Tomasa, but not Gonzalo. Miranda points out that she was involved with that even if she weren’t the actual killer, just as much an accomplice as Cesar. “depends on what mirror you look at” Bertha says. What? Then she says “I did it all for love, you all wouldn’t understand.” She goes on some more about love, not having love, how they all love, “like me and you Miranda. And you Al. And you sister.” She says it’s the sweetest love. None of this made any more sense watching it than what it sounds like now reading it, sorry everyone. Surprisingly, though, the term “heridas de amor” was NOT said in all this. Al says she can’t leave, he’s going to call the authorities. Miranda says, basically, “yeah.” Bertha grabs the gun and holds it under her chin. “Like you said Miranda, the eyes of God will never see me. Bertha de Aragon will be free! Not in some jail and much less not in a nuthouse!” She starts running away with the gun still held up to her own chin. Everyone starts yelling to put down the gun. Fern says let the others go, it’s between us. Bertha says it’s all different now. Nati says to let her do it. Go Nati! Al says no, she has to face justice. Bertha says yes, she has a date with her destiny. She leaves and everyone just lets her walk out. Al starts yelling that they can’t just let her leave! Nati says they have to let her do whatever she’s going to do. The Gabinos come running in saying that a man was with Bertha when she left. Not possible, she left alone! Gabino says no, someone was with her. Nati says, don’t ask!
The next morning, I guess, Al is drinking coffee and Miranda comes in to talk to him. They discuss their lack of sleep for Al, Miranda slept like a baby now that she knows everything. Al is all worked up but Miranda, making sense for the first time ever, says they have the lawsuits all started against Bertha and Cesar already, it’s all in the works, so whatever. Fern comes in and is ready to go back to Mexico too. She says she feels free. Miranda also feels better now that the secrets have all come out. Al admits that they are right. Fern says she finally saw who Bertha really is, she doesn’t need jail, she needs to be locked up with herself. Miranda says the worst part is that Bertha never loved anybody, she just like to make trouble. I think that’s what she said. As the are leaving, Al says “aren’t you going to invite me to your chocolate thing?” Miranda says she would never forgive him for not being there at something so important to her. Al leaves, Miranda satisfies her contractual obligation to cry. She looks at Gonz’s old desk and cries some more. “Rest in peace, papa.” She pours a few drops of her bottle of Olde English out for him before slamming back the rest…. Oops not really, she just cries some more and finally leaves the room. Wait she pauses at the door…ok NOW she left, finally. The door closes behind her, seemingly on its own. The ghost of Gonzalo!
Back to Luciano and Vicente. Again, all the papers are in order. Vicente is a little worried, one of his contacts told him that one of the proofs against Cesar might also implicate Julio, but he doesn’t want to raise a false alarm and give Julio his fifteenth heart attack. They decide to talk to Fab and see what they can do. Al arrives and tells them that Bertha confessed to everything. She got away, he doesn’t want to talk about it. They tell him about Julio and talking to Fab. Al gets on the phone.
Renata and Slutty are helping Amparito set for dinner. They are talking about how great Spain is. She hopes Raul finds a woman, Slutty says don’t you think he and Carola, you know? Hey, can I still call her Slutty now that she’s all rehabilitated? I think I will continue to do so. Juan, Francisco and Roman arrive with food, they all talk at the same time and eat. Carola and Raul arrive, hugs all around. Carola is wearing some really strange furry shoulder pads thing. She has on very flattering jeans and some short tight tank top, but then furry shoulder pads that belong on an ancient Viking. What the hell. Joel sends his best, he couldn’t make it. More hugs. They sing a bon voyage song.
Al and Vicente make plans to talk to Fab. Luciano gets off the phone and says the airports and everything else have been alerted, Bertha and Cesar won’t get out of the country. Al says great, he has just enough time to get to Miranda’s chocolate event. Oh Vicente, did you make out a check to Babe Lawyer? Yes Al, it’s on her desk. Speak of the devil, Babe Lawyer walks in. Looking good in a red suit today, waaaaaaay better than that disaster of a dress I remember from last week. She asks to speak alone with Al. She starts all pissy saying she has a lot to talk to him about, he says “sorry, keep it short, I have somewhere to be.” She looks like she can’t believe he just said that! Like, oh my god! She says she came in, all her files on Gonzalo are gone, then she overhears about him leaving her a check, what the hell is going on? She sits down and demands an explanation. Hello you dumb hottie, you’re getting dumped. Al looks like he’d rather be anywhere else but here, which is true. Babe Lawyer fights back her tears.
This was about the talkiest episode ever. I can only imagine what next week’s finale will have. Maybe Duelo will have lots of car chases and fights and stuff.

Mundo de Fieras 1/5/07
At the construction company offices, Rogelio tells Tiberio the news. Rogelio is bitter about his dad and says he could care less and Ti laughs. Ti suggests Rogelio play the part of the grieving son so that he might be able to take advantage of the situation to gain back some of his shares in the business. Otherwise he could find himself left out and no more than a simple employee or "servant" at best. On the otherhand, Ti adds, he might find himself left out on the street with nothing. Rogelio frowns and rushes over to the hospital to wait with the others and play the grieving son at Jos and Miriam's side.
Cortito comes into the kitchen to tell Mayeya the news about Gabe. She and Lil Lui have been playing cards so she and Cortito distract him from finding out the truth about his father.
Jos calls Juan Christobal and he takes Paulina with him to the hospital and explains along the way.
Leo races to the hospital to see if he can help his maestro with the surgery.
As the surgery progresses, Gabe's subconscious begins to think about each of his children and of Mariangela. Then, Dr. Arias screams that he is losing the pulse and pressure just as Leo enters and takes the crash cart and begins trying to rescuscitate Gabe by applying electric shock to Gabe's chest. Gabe is approaching the brilliant white light of the vast unknown and Great Beyond. Leo screams at Gabe in between shocks to listen to him and to fight to return to them all. Suddenly, during the flight, Mariangela is awakened from a nap with a tug at her chest just as in the operating room Gabe's heart monitor's lines all go flat. He's flatlining! He's dead! (He's flatlining and secretly I am wondering if and hoping that they are really writing him out of the show so they can introduce somebody much more Mariangela's age and more appealing at this point. Heck! Demian and Regina's middle-aged antics are much more amusing and enjoyable than this silly storyline! --Alas, no luck.) Gabe is eventually rescuscitated and his heartbeat begins to register on the monitor again. Leo has managed to bring Gabe back to the world of the living. (Did we ever doubt he could and would, really?)
Leo returns to the waiting area and informs everyone there that Gabe has survived but is in a coma. He might be there a few hours, or days, or weeks or even months. Dr. Arias adds that some people never come out of their comas. (Thanks for public service announcement #999.)
Elsa is apparently going through changes since her rape the night before. She comes on a surprise visit to see Candy at home. She is sad and withdrawn. Her clothes and hair are plain and simple this time, and she is wearing no make-up at all. She tells Candy she simply wanted to see her and Elsa does not argue or act snide with her mother for once.
Regina confides in Demian that she is worried for Paulina since losing her baby, and she is in particular upset with Tiberio for continuing to reject Dolores' attempts to reconcile with him. Demian promises to speak to Ti about this and rectify the situation. She kisses him (again to strains of Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman") and thanks him .
Paulina goes in to sit by her father's side and ask him to fight for his life. His children need his strength, his fatherly advice and his love.
In the hospital waiting room Nic takes advantage of the time to ask Dolores to allow him to stick with her. He doesn't want her to become distant. He explains he's talked about his intentions to Tiberio. Dolores admits that her son has a heart of stone. She says she tried also, but he is not moved by anything she has done to express her love as a mother to him. However, as a mother, she has not lost all hope of reaching him some day somehow.
Regina takes her turn sitting at her old beau's side, asking him to fight for his life and not to worry about the kids or the business. She tells him she'll take care of everything for him. While Regina is inside alone with unconscious Gabe, outside in the hallway, next to his door, a bating Jos tries to enrage Demian about Regina's being alone with Gabe. Demian laughs at her. He knows the game she's playing. "You think I'll be jealous? Ha! You're trying to upset me because I wouldn't loan your mother money." Jos mumbles her response. (In fact, all during the first half of this episode Edith was mumbling her lines. Perhaps the prima dona thought it made her sound more sexy and sultry, or maybe she was just hoarse from yelling petulantly on set in between takes, but all it did was impair the production.) "I didn't want you to be surprised later is all..." she answers. Demian just smiles knowingly.
In the waiting room, Leo suggests Paulina and JC say nothing to Mariangela about Gabe. He wants Mariangela to take full advantage of her designing course to better herself since she cannot do a thing for him in his present situation. In a corner on the other side of the room, Jos, Rogelio, and Miriam agree they want Mariangela out of the picture for as long as possible. Miriam tells Rog that Karen is advising them of all Mariangela's movements.
Back later that day, at the company offices, Rogelio suggests with his dad out and gravely ill, this is the time to recover a strong position in the business. Ti says he'll be happy to put in a good word with Demian for him --when it is advantagious to him and Demian of course, and for a price, as nothing in life is free.
That night at Demian's Nic, Dolores, Demian, Regina, Pau and JC sit and chat over Gabe's condition. Dolores tells them all, as a nurse, that coma patients may not lose their ability to hear. Regina suggests they all keep Gabe's mind stimulated by talking to him during their visits there. (PSA #1000). Regina tells the others then that she will think up some excuse to keep from letting Mariangela find out the truth for now and says she hopes that Mariangela believes it. (For the second time I find myself saying that this should be Mariangela's decision to make and nobody else's. Treat her like the adult she is, people!) Rog and Ti show up and Demian explains that he and Nic had planned this get together to facilitate a meeting to discuss the management of Gabe's construction company during his abscence. Ti suggests Rog handle things, but Regina tells Rogelio and Tiberio that she will be taking charge of the day-to-day management of Gabe's construction company. She had promised this to Gabe and that is that. Demian is a bit miffed and unpleasantly surprised at this because this throws a wrench into his plan to secretly substitute second-rate materials in Gabe's construction projects while pocketing the difference in cost when switching the quality materials into his own projects, but he says nothing. Ti is left with his mouth open and Wiley Coyote Rogelio again has steam coming out of his ears.
Jos looks in at unconscious Gabe and thinks, "Well Gabe, you see what happens to people who defy me. Too bad you won't be joining Mariangela in Paris. You are going to be in that bed forever. You are going to be mine again." (Crazy, sick, malicious broad.)
That night Candy tells Leo about her visit earlier in the day and how happy she is that her daughter (the real Elsa) will be coming back to her soon.
Elsa is back at the club dancing for now, though. She goes through the motions with her pole dance, but there is no excitement. After every move she stops to take a drink. She is pretty drunk and when she finally finishes the performance, El Mastín (who's secondary job is pimping out the club's dancers) says she can get as drunk as she wants now that she is obliging with his customers' "extracurricular activities". Elsa lets him walk her over then to another big, fat, ugly palooka's table. He sits her down and Elsa let's the huge hog slobber all over her neck.
The next day Paulina tells Little Luis what's gone on with their dad. Regina calls Mariangela up and tells her that Gabe had something unexpected come up with the business and would be postponing the trip over. She had no idea when he'd be reachable even. Regina has also asked Otilia to let Diana and Saroya know not to tell Mariangela anything about Gabe.
During the next two weeks Nic hires a private investigator and is frustrated to hear from him that not a single clue has turned up to suggest who might have shot Gabe. There are no witnesses and no one has made any statements to the police in the two weeks since the shooting.
Joss continues her exotic dancing at Ti and Rogelio's club. All the pigs there, including El Mastíf and Tiberio, are mesmerized by her beauty and her ...charms.
This lying thing works with Mariangela for a couple of weeks but then Mariangela calls up Regina and asks her for the truth about Gabe. She is tired of evasive answers. Regina has no choice but to tell Mariangela the truth and asks her to return to Mexico as soon as possible.
Karen calls up Jos the next morning and informs her mother that Mariangela now has the truth about Gabe from Regina and has just left on a flight to Mexico that very morning. Jos says it doesn't matter as Gabe is probably going to be in a coma the rest of his life anyway.
When Mariangela gets back to Mexico the morning after, Regina takes her to the hospital.
That same morning Jos is feeling sick and refuses her breakfast. Miriam wonders where her daughter has been and why she's been coming home so late each and every night. Jos pretty much tells her mother to mind her own business.
Mariangela enters Gabe's room, takes his hand and tells him how much she loves him. She also tells him that she is pregnant. A tear drop falls from the corner of an unconscious Gabe's eye.

La Fea Más Bella #182 1/5/07 Fer is a new best bud with Psychic Guy, Lety adopts hippie philosophy, and La llenita timida wins with Vicky Form,
Back at the Vicky Form oDiosa Contest, Caro asks the llenita timida how she is doing. She says fine thanks to Lety’s advice and attitude. Caro tells Lety the event organizers sent some unexpected printed acknowledgements for the contestants to downtown Acapulco, but we need them now, and they haven’t arrived, so Lety offers to go down and pick them up. She wishes the contestant luck and fun.
[I thought it was funny that Vicky Form had named this contest as such and even copyrighted the term Odiosa, (which we know was used on la Oxy last week thanks to Melinama). For those who aren’t aware, Vicky Form is somewhat (ironically named several decades ago) the Mexican Victoria’s Secret, and for the last couple years they have held this contest open to the public to promote their idea that beauty is an attitude, and it comes in all shapes, such that every woman should feel feminine and sexy. (Dove has a similar campaign here in the US.) They have used “ordinary women” in several of their ads. So I suppose it’s kind of neat that they are featured in this telenovela…..]
Back at Conceptos, Fer is wishing that the Psychic Guy would appear again because he really needs him. He actually complains that this guy never shows up when he really needs him. Poor Fer, so used to getting his way, sorry the world and its people aren’t at your command. Or maybe they are? Omar the Imbec barges in to tell Fer something and Fer says tomorrow because he has to go. Omar notes that he came in late and now he’s leaving early? He starts to tell him about T’s admonition, but Fer will have none of it and stomps out. Omar isn’t sure what would be worse, dying from a scolding by T or being strangled by Fer. He decides Fer should go where he wants because no one should touch his little neck, not his precious neck.
Marcia and Abicia are discussing that Lety will not return. La Oxy has some new jewelry on, earrings that are like masterlock size keys. They look pretty funny, but must go with the heart around her neck that hangs just above her well, you know. Marcia doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Abitchita wants to know what Marcia knows because she needs to know if she still needs to kiss up to Tomas. She said the last time she saw Lety she wanted to kill that rat. Just then Fer walks out, and Oxy tells him not to take it personally that she was talking about another rat (feminine). Nice… Fer says he’s leaving and to call his cell if you need anything. She wonders why he’s leaving and he won’t say. Oxy snickers let’s see if tomorrow you’ll have changed clothes and bathed.
Oxy comments that he still seems out of sorts and wonders if he’s hoping that Lety returns. A says to herself, of course he does, because Lety needs to return the business. Alicia says they’d better pray to a saint then for her return. Maybe the Saint of Ugliness. Marci says if Lety came back it would be the best for the business, but it would be hell for her and she walks away. Alicia surmises that Marcia knows something she hasn’t revealed and starts chasing her down.
In Acapulco Aldo finds Lety, saying he was looking for her, and she’s glad he found her because she needs to go downtown, and Caro even gave her a cell to communicate. He says that’s great he’ll take her, he has a luxurious mode of transport. She speculates if it will be his bicycle. He says no, close, think of a racetrack…
Alicia gets Marcia in her office and wants to know what is so horrible about Lety. She says Lety actually did her a favor by exposing everything. Marcia ends up telling her Fer’s sad face is not about the business, or the colleagues or anything, it’s about Lety. She tells Alicia that he confessed to her that he’s in love with Lety. A says that not possible.
Turns out Aldo’s luxury transport is a motorcycle. How fun to ride around the coast in Acapulco on a bike holding on to Juan Soler. Ahhhh. Anyway, they chat about the port, all the tourists and how they come to enjoy themselves, the good food, and how great a motorcycle is for touring.
Back at Conceptos, Marcia says no it's true Fer confessed to my face. Alicia says no way, he said that about Lety to upset you. M says he has nothing to gain by that. A still can’t believe it and thinks maybe there is some witchcraft going on then. M doesn’t know what’s with that woman, but she knows he’s in love with her and he is desperate. Alicia asks what she’s going to do about it. M screams what would you have me do with a man who confessed he’s in love with another woman? You tell me what to do. A says it’s not like we are talking about a poor imbecile like Tomas Mora, with his silly outfits and no place to even fall dead. We are talking about Fer who has a good lineage, from a good family and has money. Besides he’ll get back the company, and well, even if he’s not president again he still has his shares, no? You have to fight to the death for a man like that. Marcia says she’s fought many years for him and she’s had enough. A- But you are in love with him, no? M- I wish not, but yes, I am. A-Well there you have it. The other woman that disappeared from Fer has no red hot coals (she’s not burning for him anymore?) Besides surely she doesn’t want to see him ever again, on the contrary you have him at hand, don’t just let him go. M- How do you suggest that I make him stop loving her? A- Love her, I think that’s an exaggeration. Maybe he found her exotic side and he liked her braces or her mustaches. Men are weird. I once had a man who liked me only for my…. Marcia is annoyed and doesn’t want to hear her stories. Guess we won't either then. A continues that M’s lack of self-esteem is offensive. That it’s not like she’s up against an amazing grand woman, “you are beautiful, have class, elegance, money, and intelligence; you have everything you need to get rid of her just like that.” She continues,“If that woman was like me then maybe you’d have to worry.” [Yikes!] She reads off the litany of adjectives to describe herself: natural blond, sensual body, classy, nice, sexy, attractive, seductive, charismatic, intelligent, and more, "then I’d tell you to give up, you lost, and to stay away." But with Lety, please. M thanks her for her concern and advice. She says, I’m your friend, it’s nothing, count on me. Remember your dignity. She gets up to leave and while her back is turned Marcia makes an air machine gun and shoots her multiple times. I loved this part! Finally the long-winded witch leaves, and I can recap more easily.
Back in Acapulco Lety laments that they don’t have more time right now as she would love to see all of Acapulco on the bike. Aldo says he would love to go eat some quesadillas de cazon, like the ones made in the little dive restaurants. He tells her how delicious they are. She tells him surely he would make them better himself, no? He tells her yes, but Aca. has many types of restaurants, normal, fine, romantic, etc. but there’s nothing like the quesadillas de cazon (baby shark, ouch, that doesn’t sound good for the environment) from the smaller “fondita” restaurants. She agrees she’d like to do that because it would remind her of home cooking. Aldo wants her to drive the motorcycle, she’s says no, he tells her that she can do it and to imagine the speed, etc. she pretends she’s doing it but then reminds him that she can’t because of her hand. She says she’ll run from downtown behind him on his moto if he calls his Dad. Suddenly the happy mood turns sour. Aldo wants to know why she does this to him. She tells him that after all of their conversations she has reflected a lot and has come to the conclusion that he should do this, what does Aldo have to be afraid of? He tells her very seriously that he’s afraid his father will reject him, and won’t accept him the way he is. [What way is he?] She shuts up and apologizes for meddling in something that shouldn’t matter to her. He changes his tune and says alright, he’ll do it, but on two conditions. One that she comes with him, because he needs her support and the second is that she won’t run behind him, because they are in a hurry need to get back asap. She agrees remembering that Caro is waiting for them.
We see scenes setting up for the event and a very worried Caro wondering where Lety is.
Then, out of nowhere, Fern is in an incredibly luxurious modern home. And guess who he is talking to. Jorge Flores, aka psychic guy. So much for easy recapping :) . I wonder if that is his real life house! I wouldn’t have placed his character in such a home, personally, especially not in Lety’s colonia. Anyhow, because this is telenovela land apparently Fer went looking for him and found him on the street in front of his house and was invited in. Even he is surprised at the coincidence (yeah Fer, remember you are not real).
He asks if there is no whiskey, Jorge shakes his head as a water is handed to him. Fer agrees it’s healthier, anyway. Fer is thankful he found PG, he tells him that Lety is still missing. PG asks if he wants him to tell Fer where she is, is that why you came to see me? He feigns that’s not why. PG says he wouldn’t say even if he knew. Fer says he only wants to know if she’s ok, it’s just that he’s worried about her, etc. PG says she’s better than you are imagining, she’s happy. F- Happy, he seems mad, how can she be happy when I’m so upset, living in hell, etc. PG- Look, she is going through her process and you are going through yours. Each in his own way. Are you looking for more from me? F- says it’s just that you know I’m in love with her but she sees me as a criminal, as if I’m crazy, he stops, do you want to meet her? PG approaches and Fer takes out a picture of her so proudly (ok he’s cute when he does this all the time, because photos are not really her strong suit) and shows PG. PG remembers the time he gave Lety the figure of St. Jude and tells Fer he knows her from that time.
Now we are in another luxury home on the bay and Lety is impacatada at Aldo's home and the view. Aldo tells her it’s her house too and she’s welcome anytime. Wish he'd tell me that! He says they have to get ready for approaching the difficult task of calling his Dad. He wants to know if she’d like anything to eat or drink or music, or to dance, or would like her hand wrapped. She doesn’t want it wrapped up because it’s too hot, but maybe before she leaves. She admits that she would like to know how Caro is doing, that because of Aldo they had to drop the package and then leave right away. I don't follow that, because if she is the assistant, why would she have to leave?
Back in the PG’s elaborate living room, Fer says he’s in love with Lety, he’s really in love with her, isn’t he? PG says, you don’t know? Fer tells him she’s not exactly his type, he’s been lucky to be used to beautiful and sexy spectacular women, and well… PG interrupts and says Lety isn’t spectacular? Fer says yes, she is, but in a different way. PG says she’s divine? Fer says yes, that’s it. PG tells him to sit and listen. PG -We are wrong to think that a beautiful face and a well-sculpted body will bring us love. F- says it’s easier to fall in love with someone beautiful. You can’t tell me that you don’t see someone and think you love him or her. PG says, no, true love is born from what a person is in totality. It’s like a complete package. The physical counts, of course, but also their feelings, how they act, how they live their life, how they think, how they behave, everything. Fer agrees he is right, he loves Lety for all that she is.
Now for the male viewers, a glimpse of the lingerie models in thongs at the contest.
Back at Aldo’s, Lety and he are sharing some wine (Lety became a drinker I guess) and the phone rings. Aldo thinks it’s his Dad, Lety says we call him, he’s not going to call us. They let it go and find out it’s Caro on the machine. She tells Lety that the show went wonderfully and that the girl she coached won in her category for full figureds! Lety is happy. She tells Caro she’s on a mission of sorts.
Back at Jorge’s Fer is rudely taking a call from Omar and won’t tell him where he is. PG says that he is ashamed to tell his friend he’s with a soothsayer. Fer denies this and the phone rings again. Fer turns the ringer off. PG says what if it’s someone important? F says Lety?
Irma is saying goodbye to her kids and tells them that she hopes they don’t wait for her to die until they return. Luci says she’ll call every night.
Fer realizes he’ll check his missed calls because if it was Lety he wouldn’t want to not answer because of that animal. PG says it’s not Lety. Fer asks how he knows. PG says he feels her energy very close. Fer says he feels the opposite, that her energy is far, very far.
Now we go to Casa Padilla where Tomas is trying to reach Lety to tell her what the lawyers said. Julieta wants to know what the problem is. Tomas finally tells her that Lety now owns everything. Julieta is impactada and before she can speak Erasmo comes home. She tells him what she has cooked and Tomas says how delicious. Erasmo then tells Tomas that he ran into his mom and that she is looking for him. Turns out he was kidding to try to get rid of him so Tomas wouldn’t eat everything. Julieta begs for protection for Lety.
Back at Casa Flores, Fer is saying goodbye to PG. He tells him that he feels much better after conversing with him. PG says when you want, but only if you cover yourself too because I’m very busy. F- I have your phone numbers so you can’t escape now. They shake hands and PG has a sensation. He turns very serious. He tells Fer now that they are going out he sees something that he needs to tell him. He says that Fer is so mad at himself that he is looking for the way to destroy himself. PG -Go to your house now and tomorrow you must occupy yourself with what you need to do, nothing else. Don’t let yourself stray, because your thoughts may talk to you and make you do something crazy. Go to your house now. Fer confusedly says he's going home.
Aldo is sitting staring at the phone and thinking about his conversation with Lety when she jumped in the ocean to dive. He picks up the phone. Lety tells him it will be ok. Aldo notes that no one answers and is about to hang up. Lety grabs the phone and leaves a message telling the Dad that his son would like to speak with him and to please call back at this number. Aldo is mad that she left the message and tells her that she shouldn’t have done it, maybe he was watching TV and didn’t want to get up. Aldo thinks he’s so proud that he’ll never call back. The phone rings and it’s his papa, Aldo asks how he is. Another famous guest actor! The father says he’s waited many years for this call. Aldo is freaked.
Marcia is lying in bed staring at her wedding dress, sadly. That' it, except that she looks freshly made up, complete with fresh hairspray. Don't know about you, but I always spray my hair before I go to bed at night...
uh, yeah right!
Back in Aca, Aldo drops off Lety with her revolving bandage and sling appearing again, and he tells her he would like her to come with him tomorrow when he speaks with his Dad in person. She declines, that they have much to talk about alone, but he insists, so she agrees, and he thanks her for everything.
Julieta talks to the icons praying for her daughter’s well being.
Lety is in bed and dreaming about talking to her self-portrait on the beach. She asks if it would like to be part of the ocean, given to God, liberated. She takes the portrait and says she gives it to the sea and rescues it. She is wearing a very nice white dress. Lety wakes up happy realizing that she rescued herself and is getting better, like she was a plane ? and could fly.
Back at Conceptos, the cuartel returns and cackles on wondering about Lety. Simon has PM's skirt pulled up with his hand very high. Whoops. Celso tells them that Tere, Marcia, and Luigi are upstairs so they better get to work. Simon thinks they are up there cutting the veins of their beloved Fernie.
Actually, T and M are chastising Luigi for stalling on the lemon soda commercial for Ricky Armstrong. He tells them in English not to pressure him that he’s been very busy helping out Irma. Marcia yells at him, that she’s aware of all that but they still have to work. He tells her you shouldn’t yell because you made me design a dress and now you aren’t even getting married. He realizes his insensitivity and apologizes saying he’s glad she didn’t marry that beast. He then realizes that he didn’t mean to say that Tere has a beast for a son, and well Fer’s a beast, but not really a beast. Well each to his own. He says that he’s sure T and Humb gave him a good education but he didn’t take advantage of it and that’s something different. Irma keeps poking him as he digs himself deeper into a hole. He finally says ok, punish me for my terrible mouth, and so forth. They go out and Fer walks in the office. Fer asks him about the commercial too. Lui ignores him again in front of everyone. Tere tells him they were just talking about this and that he’ll get to work on it. Luigi asks Tere why she gave so much explanation. Fer explains because she at least has a minimum of courtesy and education. Luigi says that he will listen to Tere because she’s at the head of Conceptos and how wonderful it would be if there isn’t a single male executive! Fer says none? Luigi says well, yes, good point, well, no, well, excuse me and he leaves with Irma. Fer's Mom tells him that he needs to define himself and he should concern himself with his work so that the employees don’t ignore him. He says yes, he’s sick of the lack of courtesy around here. She tells him he at least looks better today than yesterday and maybe he should put on a little tie. He agrees reluctantly that he’ll put on a tie. .
To anyone looking this morning, sorry for the delay. After being out of town I was stuck at work extremely late on a project last night and didn't get to start on this until morning. Between la Oxy and PG it took me quite a few hours to get it all down, even. I think I'll have to break down and buy a captioned TV to increase my speed!!! Thanks for waiting!

La Fea Más Bella #181 1/4/07 in which Fernando espouses Buddhism and Lety becomes a multi-millionaire
The gossipy Monica calls Marcia: "Fern was so drunk last night the bartender had to put him in a cab." Mom finally starts to worry about Fern - "Maybe we shouldn't have left him so alone." "He isn't alone, he has his accomplice Omar, and if he's alone, it's because that's what he wants."
Omar complains to Fern: "How could you show up here like this? You look a sight and smell like a cheap distillery." "Don't talk to me -- after you set me up last night with that cheap clown!" "She told me you kissed her looking at a little photo of Lety. And then you didn't go home! Do you even know WHERE you went?" "To a pharmacy to buy hair gel [he probably buys the economy quart size]. Then I made friends with the taxi driver and he took me for a little ride through the city."
"Is your brain atrophied?" queries Omar, who then continues with the majority opinion: that Lety has deserted Fern and intends to steal the company.
Meanwhile, in Acapulco Lety is explaining the kiss Caro just witnessed: "Aldo is explaining life and the sea to me, I like him, he's beautiful, we went diving, he never left my side." As he looks on approvingly, she reviews his philosophical monologues for Caro, gives Aldo a kiss on the cheek saying "te quiero mucho," and rushes off.
Caro asks Aldo what's going on - there was one Lety in the morning, and now there's a powderkeg! "What did you do?" He shares his New Age speak with Caro but she is unreceptive and warns him to be careful with Lety and not break her heart. "Keep a little distance, you've already helped her enough."
Teresita asks Fern if he wants to go out to eat, but he isn't hungry, so she sits with him to talk. He assumes she wants to rag him some more, but she wants to talk as his mother (which actually means she wants to rag him some more), "I'm worried to see you like this! Drinking... instead of working..."
He says he has to work things out in his own way, he needs time to pick up the pieces. "I got into the problems myself and I'll get out myself. It's a process. As my friend learned in Buddhism: we have to lose ourselves to find ourselves. Maybe someday I'll be come the hero you want." She says he's ingenuous to think Lety will give the business back, since she hates him now and probably has somebody new. This idea shocks Fern. Mom urges him to reconcile with Marcia. He says he doesn't love her and can't marry her, and that "his" Lety wouldn't behave as Teresita fears.
Tomas rushes into Casa Padilla, anxious for the feed bag. He starts hoovering up his meal, mumbling to the anxious parents that things are bad at Conceptos. Lety calls and talks to Humberto who grumbles: "You haven't been drinking have you? I hope you've been staying far from the ocean! Don't play with it! There are big bad waves, sharks, whales..." She says she's very happy and in fact just went diving. "Very funny," he growls, "don't joke like that. And stay out of the sun, it will give you spots." She doesn't sound worried about freckles.
Tomas tells Lety: Conceptos is coming to a boil. She tells him not to worry, she doesn't want to come home because she's happy, he should talk to their lawyer, Sanchez. Reluctantly, Tomas agrees to keep holding Conceptos back - even though facing Alicia is like a horror movie. "I'll watch your back. But don't get into trouble, or your parents will strangle me, they'll cut off my meal ticket, and they better feed me cause I'm working for free." Mom keeps asking: "What could Fern have done that was so, so bad?"
When Lety tells Caro about the storm arising at Conceptos, Caro thinks she should go back. "No, no, no, when you brought me here I was a cadaver! Now I'm reviving. I have to stay longer so the improvement is permanent and I'm afraid Don -- will find me. And Aldo's wisdom is helping me."
Irmita decides to stay with her friends and work in Mexico, instead of going off with her daughter and son to be passed back and forth (like a ping pong ball, the cuartel comments). The home team cheers. It is promised that there will be visits.
Tomas visits the old bald lawyer, who sees the Elvis hairdo and says approvingly, "I used to wear my hair that way!" Tomas is impactado and asks, "and THEN?"
Tomas refuses a drink (ol' Sanchez doesn't, though) and explains the problem with the incorrectly-drafted letter of renunciation. Sanchez points out Tomas and Lety haven't exactly been contacting him, that the process of working through the embargo/seizure can't be stopped easily -- in fact the process is complete and Lety now owns Conceptos!
NOW Tomas takes a drink and says, "No, the company must stay in the hands of the Villaroels and Mendiolas!" "What you ask is very difficult. Rather, just tell Licenciada Padilla to come in to my office, we'll make a few little plans, have a few little drinks, then we'll go see the judge and see what can be done." "But she's out of town." "Well, then, things will stay as they are." "CHAOS!" "Calm down, you're both multi-millionaires!"
Omar is drooling over the Acapulco beauty contest again (he doesn't see Lety) when Teresita comes in. He switches off the screen, babbles about why he is still in his old office. She brushes that aside and orders him to take care of Fern. "You're his best friend, but you've also been his hangman. He didn't get into this alone, you helped him - you took him to the abyss and then abandoned him. Help him forget that woman."
Caro is arranging the beauty contest with four categories: Teens, Full-figured, Older Women, and "Sexies." One of the full-figured girls is nervous and wants to back out. Caro asks Lety to talk to her. Lety goes to the dressing room, doles out some of Aldo's advice, and when the girl says "I'm afraid of being laughing at me," Lety says: "I sure know what it's like. But perhaps instead of laughing AT you, people will want to laugh WITH you!" She raises her eyebrows happily as if she has a mischievous plan.

Alejandro arrives at that moment and he and Cesar get in a fist fight. Cesar punches Ale in the stomach, but he comes back with an upper cut and they roll on the bed and continue to fight. Raul gets ready for his trip to Spain as Amparo wishes him well as Carola tells them she also got a scholarship. Alejandro tells Cesar that he has all the proof he needs to send him to jail that Gonzalo found. He tells him he's lying and doesn't have any proof as he tells Nuria and LA to always look behind their back because he will be there when he least expects it. Nuria tells Alejandro she feels bad for what she did to him and he tells her to tell him everything he know.

LA tells her they're leaving town. Santiago learns his name has been cleared and that he can help many families with the account Berta opened in his name. LA informs Santiago that he and Nuria are leaving town.

Juan tells Renata in front of Carola that to him it doesn't matter if the baby is his or not that the baby is hers and that's all he cares about. Carolawishes them well and tells her to make Juan happy or else. She tells her to leave as Juan tells her to stop fighting with her. Renata calls Miranda and tells her about the e-mail that Fabricio received. Juan then tells her that Florencia's medications were made of sugar. Renata cries and says her father spent a fortune on her sister's health and Berta was giving her candy. Fabricio tells his family about the e-mail.
Vicente and Luciano inform Miranda and Alejandro that Liliana isn't going to represent Gonzalo's case. Liliana arrives and tells Alejandro she needs to talk to him but she tells him he's leaving town. She insists but he tells her they'll talk when he returns. Miranda tells him she no longer wants to see her in her office. Cesar arrives home to find Lucas and a note from Berta telling him to take care of her dog. He locks the dog in a room and goes on a rampage breaking everything in his apartment knowing he's been put in a corner and the end is near.
I was barely watching this last scene, thinking he was going to beat up poor Lucas!!
What is with these women that although they know the men the've fallen in love with are married and in love with someone else, they insist in pursuing them!!!
The end is almost here!!

Mundo, Jan. 3, 2007 – a tale of two runways
Elsa finds Silvestre beat up and groaning on the ground. She helps him.
Joselyn puts on an outfit with thigh-high boots, a short skirt and bare midriff, gets a lollipop and does a pole dance on the runway in the club.
Gabriel tells MA how happy he is that his children approve of his marriage. MA points out that Rogelio is not pleased. Gabriel says that he will come around. Gabriel and MA bid each other good night and stand on each side of the door each not wanting to leave the other.
Leo comes to the cab stand. Silvestre’s cab is there but he is nowhere to be found. Leo is concerned and calls the other cabbies to look for him.
Elsa brings Silvestre to her apartment but tells him that his problems don’t interest her. She just happened to find him in the street.
Otilia wants Candelaria to model a line of clothes that she has designed for the “Mexican woman.” Candelaria protests that she doesn’t have the body of a model, etc. etc. It’s all very humorous.
JC and Paulina return to work. Paulina believes that it will be the best therapy for her, that, and JC’s love.
Rogelio comes in. JC tells him that Paulina now has more responsibility as she is a partner in the firm just like he and Rogelio. Rogelio says, “No, he is only an employee now. His father sold his shares and now he just works here, he doesn’t participate in decisions.” Paulina very astutely comes to the conclusion that Rogelio doesn’t like her and that he is her enemy. JC tells her not to worry about it.
Karen tells the modeling agency that Otilia’s event is cancelled and that they won’t need the models. She laughs evilly thinking of what Otilia will do when her two top models don’t show up.
There is some little tiff or something between Mayeya and Cortito.
Well then we have the fashion show. Diana, Karen and (brace yourself) Candelaria appear on this runway. The only things that the ‘thin’ models show are evening dresses while Candelaria models a ghastly looking shiny black suit. She struts her stuff with brio though. Then Otilia announces her star model and it’s MA in a very simple wedding dress. The crowd goes ballistic and Miriam, Joselyn and Ingrid, who are in the audience, are impactadas. Well, I thought it was a wedding dress. It’s a white gown and MA carries a bunch of white lilies but apparently not because Otilia says that she will give MA the dress for her honeymoon.
Joselyn comes into tell MA to enjoy her success now because this will be her last moment of triumph. MA says that she doesn’t fear Joselyn and her future with Gabriel will be happy and full of love, etc. etc. Joselyn says if that is true why did Gabriel spend the night with her last night? MA says that she is lying. Josleyn says that it is true that she spend a night of passion with Gabriel. MA puts on a show of being tough and standing up to Joselyn but when she is alone, she has doubts. [It is quite a contrast to have MA, lightly made up and in a simple but extremely revealing, white dress next to Joselyn with all her make up, gigantic earrings and a bizarre lace gown with spiral modesty panels.]
After the fashion show, Otilia asks Miriam and Ingrid how they liked it. They say that it was vulgar and bad and that everyone is laughing at her for putting Candelaria in the show. Then some other person comes up and says how wonderful the show was especially Candelaria. Miriam and Ingrid are discomfited and they leave in a huff.
Back in the dressing room, MA has a flashback to what Joselyn said about her night of passion with Gabriel. She knows that Joselyn is trying to split up her and Gabriel and vows that she won’t succeed.
Leo finds Silvestre at Elsa’s apartment. Silvestre won’t tell him what happened. Leo patches him up.
Gabriel shows Regina and Paulina the plans for some socially responsible housing. They are all happy about it and Regina agrees to start construction right away.
Tiberio and Rogelio are complaining about being shut out of the management of the company by JC and Paulina. JC comes in and Rogelio remarks that he thought Paulina would take more time off to recover from the miscarriage. JC says that as her brother, Rogelio should know how devoted Paulina is to her work. ‘Paulina isn’t my sister,’ responds Rogelio. JC points out that Paulina was raised as Rogelio’s sister and as her husband, he will protect her from every threat. JC leaves. Rogelio and Tiberio agree that JC and Paulina are their enemies.
Otilia tells her staff what a great success the show was especially the clothing that Candelaria modeled. The only thing that she doesn’t understand is what happened with the models from the agency. Karen gives her lie again that the agency screwed up. Otilia tells Karen that she will let it pass this time but not to let it happen again. Otilia then tells her staff that she can send two of them to Paris for a month-long program in designing clothes. She has decided to send Karen and MA.
Leo quizzes Silvestre about what happened. He finally says that he got beaten up for interfering with some guys who were mistreating Elsa. Leo says that he should have known.
Rogelio asks Gabriel why he and MA have to get married so soon. Gabriel says that he loves MA and why should he wait. He asks for Rogelio’s understanding if not approval.
MA tells Regina what Joselyn said about being intimate with Gabriel. Regina tells her not to believe Joselyn’s lies. Gabriel is an honest man. He would not deceive her. MA is relieved and tells Regina that she has no reason to doubt Gabriel.
Rogelio is speaking to Joselyn and Miriam over the phone. He wants them to do something to prevent Gabriel from marrying MA. Miriam advises patience. Joselyn has sown the seeds of doubt in MA. Time will pass and MA and Gabriel will believe that nothing can prevent their happiness. Then the news will come that will separate them forever.
MA tells Gabriel that she is going to Paris tomorrow morning for this month-long program. [I guess she could get a passport and probably a visa in less than a day.] Gabriel says what about their plan to get married in two months. MA is concerned but it is clear that this opportunity is important to her. Gabriel has a brilliant idea. He will go to Paris with MA and they can get have a civil marriage there. MA is thrilled.
Desperate for money, Miriam gives Joselyn’s jewelry to some guy to sell.
MA tells Candelaria about her trip to Paris and Candelaria promises to take care of David.
Gabriel tells Luisito that he is going to Paris with MA. Luisito is excited but unfortunately for the course of true love, Joselyn is listening outside the door.
Tomorrow- Joselyn hides in the bushes with a gun while Gabriel loads up his car.

Heridas de Amor - Wed January 3, 2007
Pamela tells Miranda she doesn't agree with what Miranda plans to do; to go to the mini-Olympia to see if Alejandro will go. Miranda argues that it is for the best, she doesn’t want to have doubts about Alejandro. Miranda wishes that she could be the type of woman who acts in fits without thinking of anything, letting herself be carried away with emotion but she can’t. Miranda goes on to explain she is the type of person who has to have her emotions and thoughts clear. Pamela is impressed and she wishes she could be once again like Miranda. After this watershed moment Pamela decides she will accompany Miranda to the mini-Olympia.
Fabricio comes into Miranda’s room and asks her to watch the baby. Miranda is ecstatic to do so and cradles the baby in her arms. As Miranda talks to the baby Pamela watches on. Pamela watches happily at first but she changes her expression when Miranda starts to talk about her pain of not being able to conceive. Miranda begs Fab to never separate her from the child Enrique, the pain would kill her. Fab calls her his love and that will never happen. The child is hers also. God took the boys mother and he Fab wont be one to take Miranda away. Fab tells her again that the boy is hers as he kisses her on the forehead and hugs the three of them together. Pamela, looking at them from behind, gives a look of disbelief and leaves the room.
Charo sits outside on the back steps of the mansion talking to God. She asks God what she should do. Should she leave the San Llorentes and get a job far far away? She probably should have had this conversation while she was in the hospital but here she is debating her situation. Pamela walks up during Charo’s moment of need and hits pay dirt. Charo tells Pamela that Senorita Bertha and the man who killed Don Gonzalo were the ones who shot her. They are accomplices she confirms to Pamela. Charo begs Pamela to not tell anyone or they will kill her.
Fernanda walks through the kitchen with a baby bottle. Fabricio enters and thanks Fern for all her help with the baby. Fern tells him there is nothing to thank. If she couldn’t be a good mother to Miranda and Florencia she can at least be a good grandmother for Enrique. Fern takes the opportunity to ask Fab why he doesn’t call Julio papa. Fab tells her he cant, it wouldn’t be from his heart. Gonzalo took his fathers place after his father died. Thanks to Gonzalo he turned into the man he is, or isn’t, today. Fern doesn’t want Fab blaming Julio for not being more like a father because Julio didn’t even know he was Fab’s father. She discloses that Julio doesn’t have much more time to live, even with a pacemaker. Fab seems concerned by this revelation. He tells Fern he doesn’t want this news to be told to Julio and his mother. He doesn’t want his mother to be distressed and he doesn’t want Julio to think he is getting closer to him because of compassion. After Fern hears that she has gotten her way, she tells Fab that Florencia and Gonzalo would be proud of him for being a good son and for turning into an excellent father. I think she should have told Fab that he is a horrible father for dumping his kid with every woman in the house and for trying to score with his sister in law. She doesn't. Fab thinks they (G & F) would be proud of him for taking on his responsibilities, he is proud of himself.
Luciano, in Als/Gonzalos office, talks to Al on the phone. As soon as they hang up Vicente and Roman enter the office. Vicente tells Luciano that he got all, absolutely all, of the proof against Cesar. They have him in their hands. Roman tells how Luis Alberto and Nuria have been converted into witnesses. Roman had to work on it but they have agreed to be witnesses. First though, LA and Nuria want to talk with Alejandro alone. Vicente interrupts to say that those two will be in jail very soon. (Two who? N&LA or C&B?) . Roman asks if they are serious. Luciano says yes and questions if Roman has doubts. The men stare at each other.
Juan reviews Raul’s plans to go to Spain and deems that the curriculum looks good. He congratulates Raul and starts to fiddle with the school papers trying to shove them into a large manila envelope. Raul asks Juan a question about Joel and Juan answers him saying Joel? He has forgotten that he has a telenovela brother! Juan catches himself seconds afterward and yells Joooooeel! in recognition as he hits Raul with the envelope. Juan tries to cover his bases some more by explaining how Joel has always been an independent brother, etc…. Raul changes the subject and tells Juan that Carol is going to go with him. Raul explains that he has nothing going on with Carola but this would be a good opportunity for her to get ahead in life, meet more people and above all put land in between her and Juan. The brothers chuckle over the plan.
Luciano can’t believe whoever made projections and analysis of future markets. Vicente tells him it was Alejandro. He has learned to do most everything that Luciano does while Luciano has been away. Roman enters carrying boxes of documents he compiled working for Gonzalo and Cesar. He tells the men he can also testify if they want. Vicente thinks this will complicate things because it signifies he was an accomplice too. Roman argues that yes he was, but he wants to take responsibility for his actions. The information he provided Gonzalo and Cesar hurt a lot of people, especially the Dr. Fernanda. Luciano wants Lilliana to look over the documents and tell them how to organize everything; once again employing the services of the good lawyer. The men all agree Alejandro will be surprised, he deserves their loyalty.
Lilliana’s evil friend scolds her for being stupid about Al. Alejandro surprisingly shows up at Lilly’s house to tell her that he has been thinking over things… He realized that their problems are separate from those of Sofia. Please tell Sofia he will be there for her tomorrow. He turns and leaves and his footsteps resound loudly on the poorly constructed set. Lilliana looks relieved while evil friend is giddy.
Pamela goes to Miranda’s room where Miranda is lying on the bed with the baby. Pamela tells her what Charo told her. Bertha wanted the baby, Charo prevented her and so Guapo shot her. As they talk Miranda’s cell phone starts to ring. Miranda jokes to Pamela that it is none other than the devil, Bertha. She tells Bertha “Until I report you what do you want?” Bertha tells her she is at the hacienda and wants Miranda to meet her tomorrow. Miranda’s face freezes.
Miranda tells Pamela that she didn’t have enough time to tell Bertha anything. She worries about Bertha being in the hacienda and quickly calls Gabino to warn him. He hasn’t seen Bertha so Miranda tells him to leave the hacienda and go to the Hacienda of the Light so Bertha can’t find him. She asks him to tell Canito to close up the big house, and only give Bertha access to her room if she shows up. Miranda tells Pamela that Bertha is trying to scare everyone like she is a terrorist, hit and run. Bertha is either crazy or a cynic or both. The women agree that Berthas mental state is not good. (Side Note: Ive been wondering why they keep using the word cynic to describe someone. I have always taken the word to mean skeptic. Upon referencing a dictionary it looks like cynic also means someone who is sort of narcissitic. Or what do y'all think they mean when using this word?)
Cesar questions Bertha on why she lied to Miranda. Bertha gloats that she knows Miranda is making all sorts of calls to warn people. This makes her happy. Sanson rings the doorbell several times before Cesar gets up to answer. Sanson enters coughing to tell Cesar that some cops are watching the apartment building and have been doing so all day. Bertha touches her head with wide eyes as she listens. She is obviously shocked. Cesar meanwhile has a new hair cut and a particularly ugly half beard going on, part soul patch part Fu Man Chu. He smokes throughout his conversation with Sanson never minding Sansons’ coughs. He questions Sanson why this news is important. Sanson doesn’t know but the cops are taking pictures of who leaves and who enters. Cesar argues that the doorman would have told him if they were watching him. Sanson admits he is worried and thinks he shouldn’t come to see his patron (boss) anymore. Cesar snorts and agrees, he doesn’t want Sanson there anyway. Cesar tells Sanson he wants him to get a health checkup. Sansons bald head is sweating and he hasn’t stopped coughing since he came in but he acts confused when Cesar suggests he see a doctor. He assures Cesar that he doesn't have anything, just a little Ebola maybe but nothing else. Cesar questions if Sanson discovered Luis Alberto’s car. Yes Sanson has found Luis Alberto’s car at a hotel. He hands Cesar a piece of paper. Cesar pockets it and brings out his wallet giving Sanson money. He tells Sanson to go and he will look for him when he needs him.
Cesar admits to Bertha, after Sanson has left, that he doesn’t like what he has just heard. He doesn't know if he should go to the hacienda with Bertha or leave the country. Bertha rubs her head claiming it must have been a lie. Cesar semi agrees but he states he is going to take his precautions anyway. He asks if Bertha wants to stay in the apartment and she panics lunging for him in a fit of need. She whines for him not to leave. Cesar pushes her back and tells her she can bring her damn animal and they will stay in contact. Bertha comes in for a hug again and Cesar looses his temper. He pushes her away harder this time, snarling his teeth. He yells that he told her he would never touch her again after she got with Quasimodo; she repulses him. He goes on with fury about his disgust and hate. Her eyes get wide and she looks at him pathetically. He continues his tirade saying how he has a disgusting image in his mind of her that just the thought of it makes him want to vomit. She looks like she has never heard such words directed at her before. Her eyes droop with sadness and her jaw slacks open showing her shock. She looks defeated.
Fabricio enters Miranda’s bedroom asking where she is going. She is getting ready to go to the mini-Olympia. Charo enters at about the same time and Miranda tells her to get her things ready. They need to move her to a safer place. Fab whines when is this going to end Miranda?
Quick tourist scene of Villa Hermosa - Tabasco from a plane. Naty enters the office in the hacienda with a bundle in her arms. She sets the bundle down on Miranda’s desk and unwraps it. It’s THE gun. Naty talks to Gonzalo telling him that here is the gun … Bertha’s gun. The gun that Bertha used that night, and the same she is going to use to today. This is how it is written Patron and this is how it will be. She stumbles to the desk and puts the gun bundle in a drawer. Naty turns one last time to tell Gonzalo not to be despair. He will leave for the light soon. She turns back around and leaves before Gabino comes to look for her.
Everyone is yelling Sofia’s name at the mini-Olympia. Evil friend is excited to see that Alejandro has arrived. She tries to prove some point to Lilly about Al but Lilly rebuffs her. Soon Alejandro is seen winning a race against other fathers. He goes back after passing the finsih line to get Sofia and carry her high on his arm. Evil friend, who I have conveniently forgotten her name, tells Lilly she has never seen Sofia smile so big. She is really laying it on thick. Pamela and Miranda walk up to the festivities, and hesitate before joining the crowd. They see Alejandro. Pamela thinks this is enough but Miranda has to watch more. She has to see Alejandro in more painful episodes with a daughter she can never have. She can’t stop herself! Tracking Al has become an obsession for her. (OK those are my words not Miranda's.)
Nuria pleads to Father Santiago that she is scared. She doesn't know why but she just feels like something bad is going to happen! LA tries to talk her out of her bad premonitions. Santiago agrees that no one could find them.
As the women sit in the grandstand watching the events, Evil Friend Marisol tells Lilly to get with Alejandro and Sofia as soon as the celebration stops. Lilly rebuffs her again telling her she is crazy! Lilly is all strength in combating Marisol’s evil plans until she spots Miranda in the stands. (Quite a stadium for little kids, BTW.) Lilly freaks. She tells Marisol to check Miranda out as Pamela watches them. Lilly tells Marisol if Marisol had something to do with this she will kill her. She gets up and goes to sit by Miranda and Pamela. At first she is nice and I have hope she will come clean and find a truce, but no such luck. Miranda is her usual mean self telling Lilly she is there because Sofia called her; surely Lilly gave her Miranda’s number. Lilly denies it but Miranda won’t listen. Miranda tells Lilly that regardless they need to talk. Soon the mini-Olympia games that have been going on in the background are over. Alejandro has won the sack race and he throws Sofia in the air. The announcer tells the crowd its Sofia and her Papa! The crowd cheers for Sofia. Lilly tells Miranda that she would do whatever for her daughter. Miranda answers back that she knows. The announcer wants the mothers of the children who have won the Olympia to join their husbands and daughters on the awards platform. Miranda tells Lilly to go it’s her time.
Cesar yells at Bertha to hurry. If she doesn't he will go alone to visit Luis Alberto and Nuria. Bertha comes out of her room just as the doorbell rings. Its Julio and Rebecca announcing they are not there for a courtesy visit. Bertha mocks that Papa and Mama have come to say that Cesar is a bad boy for living with her right? Julio tells her to pipe down, they have a point with Cesar not with her, even though she caused it. They know that it was Cesar and his accomplice that kidnapped Fabricio. Bertha goes from mocking witch to weak woman as she puts her hand on her head. Her eyes follow Rebecca and Julio as they make their statements. Rebecca tells Cesar she wants him to return her jewels that they have had in the family for generations or she will report him and his accomplice.
Father Santiago tells Alejandro that LA and Nuria are ready to go. He tells Al to hurry and get there. LA states that AL better hurry up because they have to leave in 30 minutes. Nuria is freaking out telling the men about her premonitions and how her chest hurts. She thanks the Father for everything; she is never going to see him again. Santiago decides that this is the time to finally tell Nuria the truth; Tomasa was her grandmother. Nurias eyes widen in shock.
Alejandro, Sofia and Lilly stand at the winner’s platform. Miranda and Pamela stand nervously at the edge of the crowd. Evil friend, Marisol, slides over to Miranda and Pamela and greets them by acting like she doesn’t know who they are. She tells Miranda and Pamela that she is the aunt of Sofia as she points to Al, Lilly and Sofia. Pamela opens the door to trouble by pointing at Al and asking Marisol if He is the father of your niece? The door has been opened for Marisol’s evil plan. She tells M&P all sorts of untrue things like Lilly is seeing Al. Al will soon be getting a divorce and they will be getting married, blah blah blah. Miranda, as expected, falls for the trick and gets mad. She looks over to see Alejandro kissing on Sofia as Lilly gazes happily at them. Miranda has had it and excuses herself from the women.
Sofia’s friends compliment her on the handsomeness of her dad and his strength. No one stops the kids from thinking that Al is her dad. Miranda saunters up like a tiger about to devour its meal, eyeing Al with her death vision. She tells Al congratulations for his 1st place. Al is shocked to be busted. She tells him that she came because Sofia called her. Remember the call I got in the library? It was Sofia. Al weakly tells her that he was going to tell her but but but. Miranda continues undeterred. She tells Al that Bertha called her and that Bertha wants to meet them in the hacienda tonight. Miranda then puts her death ray on Lilly telling her to not look at her like that; she’s talking about family things that don’t concern her. Miranda finishes it off by asking Al to let her know if he will be there and she walk away. AL, who is wearing a silly medallion around his neck signifying his 1st place win, turns to Lilly to chew her out. He accuses her of orchestrating the scene with Miranda to separate him from his wife and for using her daughter to get at him. At that very moment they are called to take a photo. The three pose with Sofia shinning brightly; she got her way! While Al and Lilly look less than happy.
Rebecca pleads with Cesar that he couldn’t have sold all her jewelry! Certainly there are pieces they can recuperate! Cesar tells her to forget it. The jewels are gone to support his business. Julio gets seriously mad at Cesar telling him he doesn't have a business and he wont even get a pardon from God for what he has done to his mother. Cesar tells him he doesn't care. Julio taunts that LA split with all of Cesar’s capital, he will never see LA again. Cesar tells them he will get peso for peso from LA while Julio laughs. Rebecca regains her voice and tells Cesar she is going to report him and his accomplice to the law. Cesar slams out of the apartment as Bertha smirks from the couch. She laughingly tells Rebecca that was not the right way to confront Cesar. Julio and Bertha call Bertha a viper and leave. Bertha stares off in space.
Veronica and Renata go into Fabricio’s room. He is working on his laptop computer as he holds the baby. Veronica picks the baby up to coo at him. Veronica asks if Fab cares that she is HIV positive and holding the baby. Fab gives a public health message that you can’t pass HIV from kisses or hugs and much less for loving his child. No one should be discriminated for having the virus. Veronica is touched. Fab turns back to his laptop to look at an email a friend in Germany just sent him. He calls the girls attention to the email. It has a picture from a security camera from the building next to the assassinated cardiologists’ house which caught an unknown woman leaving the building. None of the occupants know this woman. The trio looks closer at the email picture. It’s Bertha!
Tomorrow what will Miranda do about Lilliana? Can we make it till the end of this show?

La Fea Más Bella #180 1/3/07 In Which Lety is a Plastic Cup
Marcia walks into the lobby and Alicia runs right over for the gossip. Marcia has no good gossip for her. Alicia is disappointed. Marcia asks for Fernando and Alicia advises that he has not arrived yet. They think that is strange, since he is always early. Omar walks in, also looking for Fern. Marcia leaves and Alicia tells the cuartel to get back to work. Seeing Omar, she says “oh, wait, not you.” I think this was a reference to Omar not having an official position anymore, but no one seemed to think it was funny. The cuartel wonder how Irmita is doing.
Aldo rents the a boat again and he tells Lety she will get to know the bay and the sea “profoundly.” He follows this with a laugh and this makes Lety very nervous. She doesn’t understand. Finally he says he’s taking her diving. She doesn’t like that idea. She says she can’t swim. Aldo continues to laugh. She lightens up and they goof around sing a song that goes “in the sea, life is more flavorful.”
Irmita brings her family to work. They are introduced to PM and Saimon. Everyone is in funeral black. Humberto, Mama T, and Ariel walk in with the lawyers. Ariel hits the elevator up button while Humberto tells Lucy the grandkid that her grammy is super awesome. Irma’s son whispers that the Mendiolas appear to be in a rush. Irmita begs their pardon for holding them up.
As mom and pop walk into the executive lobby, Alicia rushes to be the first to greet them. They ask for Marcia and Fern, and she tell them that Marcia is here but not Fern.
Lety takes off her arm brace and calls out to the ocean that now she and it have officially lived together as husband and wife. Aldo asks why she took off the brace, and she explains that she wanted to liberate her hand. When Aldo leaves the wheel, she freaks out and he teases her.
Marcia offers her condolences to Irma. Irma says that, out bad things, good things sometimes come. After all, due the death of Mr. Mumbles, she was able to meet her granddaughter Lucy. Marcia tells Lucy she is a doll. Lucy smiles precociously.
Meanwhile, Irma’s kids pay a visit to Luigi’s office. Luis calls them his little brother and sister, and asks what he can help them with. As a matter of fact, they want his help in arranging Irmita’s retirement.
Caro opens the beauty contest for all and explains the rules about attitude again. The camera scans the participants and we see that they are mostly “everyday” women and then the camera stops on a girl who is pretty but very pouty… will she be a lesson in bad attitude?
Irma’s kids tell Luigi that they think Irmita is lonely, and Luigi nods politely, but he is fanning himself. He is not liking where this is going. They explain that they can not relocate to Mexico, so they want to take her to the U.S. with them. Luigi becomes distraught. Irmita and Lucy come into the office and he tells her they are conspiring to steal her away from him.
In the meeting room, Alicia offers to send a cafeteria worker to bring them coffee, but they instruct her to take their order herself. They comment some more about why Fern has not shown up yet.
Fern walks into the executive lobby, very hung over. He didn’t bother with a tie or a jacket today. Alicia rushes right over and begins yelling in his ear. He sushes her. His cell phone rings. He answers and tells Omar that he will be there as soon as he gets from “here” [where he’s standing next to Martha’s desk] to “there” [He runs to Lola’s desk in time to say “there”]. He is in an unbelievably good mood considering the hangover. He walks into the meeting room still talking to Omar. Omar says “okay bye” into the cell phone even though Fern is now standing right there next to him. Fern sees the serious mood in the room and sits down. He tries to make small talk but dad cuts to the chase, “Where is Lety?”
On the boat Lety puts on a diving suit and a life vest, plus she’s holding a lifesaver. Aldo laughs and asks how she expects to dive that way. Lety says that if he wants her to get in the water, she’s going in with the vest and lifesaver. Aldo laughs and Lety pouts.
Fern tells the board that Lety will not be coming today either, but she is sending her representative again.
Tomas walks in the lobby wearing his trench coat like a cape [I know this was taped months ago, but we’ll just say it’s a tribute to James Brown]. He stops to smile longingly at Alicia. Alicia runs over to call him desgraciado again. He offers her a rose. She says “Ay Tommy…” then rips the rose off the stem and throws it. The cuartel get up from their desks to get a good view. Tomas nervously says it’s nice to see her again too and begins to walk away. She rips the coat away from him, and he covers his chest with one hand and his netherlands with the other, apparently forgetting that he is wearing clothes under the coat. He says he would have liked to bring her something nicer, but he doesn’t have half a cent. He hands her what’s left of the rose and asks her to put it in water.
Tomas enters the meeting room and Fern gets up to give him a big hearty hug. Dad impatiently asks Tomas about Lety. Tomas apprehensively explains that she won’t be back for a few more days. Marcia wants to know why. Tomas says she has important business outside of Mexico City, and that’s all he can say.
Aldo tells Lety not to be afraid of the water. Lety says she can’t help it, she never learned to swim. With the diving goggles on, she talks as if she has a bad cold. He tells her that if she loves the ocean, she can not be afraid of it. He makes a good argument because Lety suddenly agrees and plunges into the water. Aldo is surprised that she would throw herself in like that and exclaims “Que barbara!” [how barbaric… I love that! It doesn’t sound nearly as severe in Spanish]. He jumps in after her.
Marcia demands to know how much Lety wants in exchange for giving them their company back. Tomas assures them that Lety doesn’t want anything, and that she will sign all the necessary documents as soon as she returns. Marcia is sure that by then Lety will have some other excuse. Fern rubs his temples as if the sound of her voice hurts him. The lawyers explain (if I understand this correctly) that Filmo Imagen’s lien on Conceptos is running it’s course, and the case is currently in the hands of a judge. If Lety doesn’t show up soon to sign the paperwork, the legal process will continue and soon Filmo Imagen will legally own Conceptos; that is, Lety will legally own Conceptos.
Aldo gives Lety diving lessons. Uncharacteristically, Lety seems to enjoy it.
Tomas refuses to tell the board where Lety is. Fern slams a notepad on the table. Marcia sarcastically wonders if Lety is at the bottom of the ocean [heh!]. Omar thinks this is hilarious. Marcia says that surely Lety will not show up until the judge rules in her favor and formally hands her full ownership of Conceptos. Tomas says they are mistaken, Lety is not capable of such a thing. Ariel the Arse thinks the evidence indicates otherwise. He says Lety wouldn’t take any bribe from them, as Marica suggested, because she is already in position to take the whole 45 million dollar company. Fern rolls his eyes in disgust. Marcia says Lety and Tomas’s intentions are clear. Dad agrees and sternly thanks Tomas for his time. Tomas insists that they are wrong about Lety and says he will deliver whatever other messages they want to send her. Marcia stands and exclaims that he should tell her that they will not stand idly by. Fern shakes his head in disgust at her.
We then get cute scenes of Lety and Aldo exploring the ocean’s wonders, while the Fea Mas Bella theme song -- the Musak version -- plays.
Alicia talks on the phone to her dad about her money woes. She’s not sure whether she should pay her credit card bill. She may need to move to a smaller apartment. Tomas walks out of the meeting room and hides behind a potted plant, then ducks behind a desk. The cuartel pretends not to see Tomas. Martha remarks to the others about the scandalous scene Alicia made earlier. Sarah pulls Tomas's ear as she wonders why he brought Alicia flower. Lola pulls the other ear and says that they must have been seeing each other all this time. After all, she is a husband-stealer and he is, well, a man. They pretend that they suddenly realized he is there. They try to get Tomas to tell them what’s going on with Alicia. He says that, since Alicia doesn’t like Lety, she doesn’t like him either. Tomas convinces them to help him sneak by so Alicia doesn’t see him. They try to block Alicia’s view but Tomas gets distracted; he stares dreamily at her and he forgets to leave.
Back on teh boat, Lety says she had a great time diving. She says she’s really happy. She didn’t even worry about the sharks, which her dad warned her about! They have a good laugh about it. They laugh about her funny laugh. Lety adds that her mom laughs the same way and they laugh some more.
Alicia sees Tomas and blocks the elevator. Roller Derby Sara tries to defend him and Alicia tells her to stay out of it. They gang up on her so Tomas can run in the other direction. Alicia yells after him “Thief! Give me back my 500,000 pesos!” [That’s right… Miss Kettle In the Tight Black Dress thinks he’s the thief]. She yells the cuartel that they are Lety and Tomas’s accomplices. Irmita comes in and asks for a favor.
Ariel says they can't just wait around for Lety to take everything, they must act now. Fern says they are being absurd. Ariel says no one asked for his opinion, rubs it in that this is all his fault, and chastises him for sticking up for Lety.
Lety says is a new woman. She can’t believe there is such a big world underwater. It is as immense as the sky. Aldo says that it is as immense as the ocean inside her. Lety says she doesn’t belive that there is a whole ocean inside her; that’s impossible. Aldo explains that we are all part of the same immensity. He picks a pitcher of water and fills a plastic cup with water. He asks her to imagine that she is the plastic cup. Her body is just the vessel in which the immensity of ocean is contained. Lety scrunches her nose as she tries to make sense of it. Aldo then throws the water from the plastic cup overboard. Lety says that if the water is returned back to the ocean, then it goes back to being part of the immensity, and it’s as if it had never been separated from the rest of the ocean, right? Aldo asks where she thinks her essence comes from; that is, where her strength comes from. She says it comes from the ocean, from the earth, from fire, from the wind, from nature, from the immensity… [I’m not sure if she’s listing them all as one answer, or if she’s guessing until she gets the right one.] Aldo says the right answer if “from God.” Lety agrees, after all, those things are all components of God.
Fern says he’s not defending Lety [how disappointing]. Omar waves his hand, clearing out the smell of Fern’s breath. He says he is simply saying that they are not in a position to take action against Lety. Ariel remarks that Fern reeks of alcohol. Marcia says it’s not just the alcohol, it’s because he’s wearing the same clothes from yesterday. Fern says that’s not true. Dad shuts him up and forbids him from speaking again during the meeting. He tells Fern that he hasn’t learned anything and that his stupidity has no end. Tears well up in Fern’s eyes. No father-of-the-year award for this guy.
Back on the boat, Lety’s lesson continues. She throws the remaining drops of water from the plastic cup into the ocean. She says the water has been returned to God, then she stares intently at the empty cup. Aldo wonders why she’s so intrigued with it. Lety articulates that the cup is disposable plastic, almost worthless, but it served to hold the water from the ocean. Aldo smiles and says, “That’s it, you’ve got it!” But Lety wonders what the difference would be if they would have used a glass made of fine crystal instead of a plastic cup. He asks her what she thinks. She thinks that the contents would not change; it would still be ocean water. Only the presentation is changed, only the exterior. She suddenly becomes pensive, as if the light bulb has just turned on above her head. Also asks if she thinks the presentation is important. Lety says it depends on the person. Some people don’t like disposable cups, and some of us have never even seen a crystal glass. Aldo agrees that then it must depend on personal preference. He says that good wine in a plastic cup tastes exactly the same as if it had been served in a crystal glass, and he would enjoy it just the same. No matter what kind of glass it is, it should be cared for, understood, and respected, because it contains the essence of the universe. He concludes (finally) by saying that her body is a glass and what it holds is immortal. Lety stares a second and they smiles.
Back at the office, Ariel the Arse tells dad [he actually calls him “dad” just to bug Fern] “Whether Fern is sober or drunk does not make a difference. He is useless and all he’s done is ruin us.” Mama T tells him to shut up, that’s enough. Ariel tells dad that because he could not take his money from Conceptos to invest in his new business, that business has failed. On top of that, his patrimony has been lost as well. Fern, who still has a tear on his check, clarifies that Conceptos has not been lost, he won’t allow it. He repeats to Dad that he won’t allow it. Humberto warns Fern that he better not see him at work in this condition ever again. Ariel doesn’t think that’s enough; Fern got them into this mess and then stuck up for that woman, so he wants Fern out. Dad turns to the lawyers and instructs them to come up with a legal plan of action to get them out of this. He says he is also suspicious of that woman. Ariel says it’s pointless to continue when they have already lost. Dad says he is sure they will find a way out of this. He gets up to leave but Mama T says she will stay to talk to Fern. Dad says it’s just as well that she can still stand to talk to him, because at the moment, he (dad) considers Fern useless. Fern looks despondent.
Lety holds the plastic cup and says “a cup of ocean water” with big grin. Aldo is bandaging her hand back up and she thanks him. He says it’s his pleasure to help cure her [pun intended, I'm sure].
In the cuartel’s conference room (aka restroom), Irmita tells the cuartel and Saimon that she plans to go back to the States with her kids. They discuss the pros and cons… on the pro side, she will be with her kids… on the con side, she will have to leave the cuartel. Saimon pontificates about the strong bonds of family. They don’t like this so they kick him out. Irmita says that Saimon is right. Family is the most important thing. Saimon walks back in and points out that he was right.
Back on the beach, Lety says she will keep the plastic cup forever so she can remember everything she learned. Aldo takes the cup full of water from her and says “You understand that his water comes from the ocean; it is the ocean itself.” Lety agrees. Aldo then crushes the plastic cup. Lety is miffed about this. Aldo explains that the water will evaporate into clouds, which will rain over the ocean, so the water can continue its course. That’s why we never disappear. Life continues, and therefore we live on in a continuous flow. [Shh... does anyone else hear Elton John singing The Circle of Life... wait, that might just be in my head.] Lety is impressed with Mr. Guru. She says “Ay Aldo [forgetting to add señor in front of that], como te quiero” [how I care for you]. She gives him a warm hug. Just then Caro walks up to them calling out “Lety!”
Warm thoughts and loving prayers for Mr. Jimenez's family, on-screen and off. I'm sure he will continue on in the grand circle of life... :)

Death of "La Fea" director Sergio Jiménez
Mexico City, January 3, 2007. Consternation and sadness were the sentiments that invaded the forums of "La Fea Más Bella" upon learning of the death of director Sergio Jiménez.
"Today we were waiting for our director to arrive but he didn't come. People close to him went to find him at his apartment and saw it was locked, that his car was outside and hadn't been moved for a few days," explained Rosy Ocampo.
"It was decided to go to the ministry, they came to his house and found he had died watching television. It was death by natural causes, apparently a heart attack. He had recently turned 70 years old, with many plans for the future," she added.
Rosy notified the crew and cast. "He called them 'mis troyanos' [Trojans?] because he commented that part of the success was this grand team."
The Prof himself, as he was called affectionately, already had made plans for the new year. "He spoke of the next movela we were to make together, and that he wanted to go to Greece when La Fea terminated. He was a man looking forward in his life."
The last time he was with the crew was December 23, the last day of taping in 2006.
The producer said Angélica Vale was the one most affected: "They arrived together at that which is 'Lety'. They had a grand friendship, he even called her his grand-daughter."
Rest in peace.
