Duelo de Pasiones Tuesday 2/13 - There's a whole lotta damning goin' on, and Gaspar gets shot!
Luba and Flor hear Don Loco approaching the cave. Luba pushes Flor into the back as Don Loco enters in a rage. Luba says she knew he'd be furious about what happened, (the wedding), but she couldn't do anything to prevent it. That conceited Emilio set a trap for them and they fell into it. Don Loco says "Oh you wish I'd believe that, you liar," and gives her a smack. Flor eavesdrops as they argue.
Luba tells Don Loco to calm down then she tells him her story...first he (Emilio) sent Gaspar on an errand, then when Luba and Flor were alone his servants took them by force to La Rinconada. Don Loco keeps shouting "damn it" throughout her story. Luba continues...that guy (Emilio) said he would kill la mula ("the mule" which is what Luba calls Flor in front of Don Loco), if they didn't comply. Don Loco ponders for a second, and agrees that wouldn't do because it would thwart his own revenge. But there's one thing he doesn't understand and Luba's going to tell him right now. How is it that Flor was wearing her mother's wedding dress, how, damn it?? It must mean Soledad knew about it. He starts to choke Luba in retaliation.
You'd think Thelma would be in a good mood because she finally got to marry Emilio, but noooo, she's a bigger bitch than ever. She tells Angel she got to marry Emilio because she's carrying his child. She gloats, too bad for Angel her son will be the legitimate heir. Angel says unlike Thelma he doesn't care about an inheritance. Spoken like a true artist. He says she's a thief, a thief who has robbed Emilio of his right to marry whom he chooses. Thelma doesn't give a damn about his opinion, tells him he's contagious, and stomps out of the room. Good riddance.
But wait, there's more, she returns and tells him to pack his bags because if Emilio dies she'll sell the property and she doesn't want to see Angel ever again. He has a coughing fit and nurse Susi arrives to calm him down. "Please brother, don't die," he gasps. He wants to see Emilio.
Don Loco and Luba argue forever. He makes threats of dire punishment against all of them, especially Soledad. Luba asks Don Loco what he intends to do with "la mula." He tells her "Don't think I'm convinced by your story, God only knows if you were paid my Emilio." Luba acts outraged, "When have I failed you boss?" He waves his whip in her face and stomps out. Flor comes out of hiding and hugs Luba. "What's he going to do to my mother, what horrible punishment is he thinking up for us?" she asks. Luba says she doesn't know, but it will be very bad.
Orlando is having a one-sided conversation with the unconscious Emilio, "It's the end for you, you're going to die, but not the way I would have wished. You'll leave the world without suffering. I won't have the pleasure of seeing you tied to a woman you don't love. Damn! It's going to make me sick to have the tell the world how incredible you were. I hope you burn in hell!"
Nurse Susi helps Angel into the room in time to hear Orlando conclude, "...don't you die on me, damn it, don't you die!" Angel puts his hand on Orlando's shoulder and says, "Emilio is strong." Orlando is impactado, "Uh, were you there, did you hear everything?" Angel says yes,but obviously he wasn't and didn't, because he, who formerly loathed Orlando, says that Orlando is nothing like Thelma, the whole world knows what kind of woman Thelma is. He has to get her away from Emilio. Orlando holds out his hand and says he will help in any way he can. Snake.
Thelma's aunt sings and talks to herself in the mirror. She imagines she's getting married. She "sings" Ave Maria and Thelma rushes in and shrieks for auntie to shut up. She's on edge because she argued with Angel. She goes ballistic when Auntie tells her she hasn't had a chance to get rid of the red dress. Thelma says she's going nuts, she can't stop worrying about that imbecile (Gaspar). I REALLY wish they would stop calling him imbecile. And we've already learned about ten ways to say idiot.
Cut to Gaspar running and yelling for the doctor. He intercepts the carriage, he has something important to ask the doctor. He has money and can pay. He asks the doctor to help him. His munequita doesn't like him because he's an idiot, can the doctor get the idiot out of him? Please?
Mexico City - The new doctor tells Mariana there are some alternative treatments he'd like to try on Marianita. He wants to help them. He puts his hand on her arm in a very undoctor-like way and says she made a most pleasing impression on him from the first. She tries the old, "Oh you should meet Marianita's dad, he's MUCH more pleasant than I am" line. The doctor is surprised and asks if she's married.
Jose is sweaty and loading wood in the back of a jeep. The guards step away and Jose thinks he sees his chance to escape. He says goodbye to Arcadio, jumps in the jeep and peels out. Jose is a stud but he's dumber than a piece of kindling, a little planning would go long way. The guards shoot at him.
Don Max is having his "I want your daughter for my very own so make her like me" conversation with Braulio. Braulio squirms and says Rosita will never comply as long as that Santos is around, they're gaga about each other. Don Max says Braulio has to be firm, they are firing Santos from La Rinconada because he helped Don Loco escape. "You'd better prohibit her from seeing him or he'll betray your confidence too," threatens Don Max.
Mariana tells Malena that she told the doctor she was married. "To the phantom Jose? Forget about him," answers Malena. Mariana says Jose is the great love of her life.
Oops, looks like Jose failed to escape AGAIN, he is tied to the chair AGAIN, and Arcadio is tending to his wounds AGAIN. A guy in black with a gun tells Jose there is much to do and he'd better demonstrate he's inclined to help if he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in the mountains. I don't know why they haven't killed him. Seems to me he's more trouble than he's worth. He won't even have sex with the boss's sister.
Don Loco is in Soledad's room. It's dark. She sleeps. She wakes, "Dios mio!" I fast forward. I see the wedding dress. I stop. He shows her the bloody dress. She gasps.
After the commercial Soledad freaks out, "You killed your own daughter!" She faints. Don Loco tries to revive her. He calls her "my love" and says he loves her. Sicko. He yells for Adela and Sergio to get the doctor.
The doctor tells Gaspar there's nothing he can do for him, his condition is irreversible. Gaspar doesn't understand. Just then Sergio rides up and tells the doctor there's an emergency at the hacienda. "See you later, idiot" Sergio sneers at Gaspar as he rides off with the doctor. Gaspar is distraught, "Nobody wants Gaspar. In the Devil's Cave my munequita wanted nothing else, but she doesn't want me here. Perhaps she didn't recognize me, perhaps she wants to see me, I'm going to look for her again, yes!!" He smiles and runs off. Dang, he's optimistic! And relentless. I'm not sure I could take that level of enthusiasm.
Braulio asks Rosita why Santos helped Don Loco escape. She says of course it's not true, Don Max is a swine, a liar, he invented the story to get rid of Santos. She loves Santos and Don Max can do nothing to separate them. Papa Braulio sighs, he has a long hard road ahead of him.
Thelma is all hormonal or something. She's an uber-bitch. She bitches at Orlando who is continually lounging around in her room. She bitches at the help when they knock on her door. She's not handling her role of Lady Of The Manor very well, so far Emilio's brother and all the servants hate her. Orlando tells her she's the queen of La Rinconada and can make the servants do whatever she wants. Oh ick, he tries to kiss her and she bats him away as they flounce out the door. She's the queen all right, the Queen Bee-atch!
Flor talks to Donkey about her destiny. She tells him she can never return to La Rinconada. Donkey bares his teeth and barks, "Snap out of it, human!" Flor says Donkey is right, Emiliooo needs her now more than ever! She runs out of the cave with Donkey at her side.
Thelma and Orlando have invaded the kitchen. The two guys, I can't remember their names so I'll call them the two boobs and you'll see why, tell her they don't know why she's nervous about thieves, La Rinconada has never been robbed. I guess Don Loco arriving to break up the wedding and shoot the groom doesn't count. She shrieks at them to guard the grounds and shoot first and ask questions later.
Naturally poor Gaspar is sneaking around the grounds and the two boobs shoot him in his bulging bicep. Meanwhile Flor and Donkey are nearby and hear the shot. Donkey barks. Gaspar runs away. The two boobs see Gaspar's blood, hear the bark, and think that they shot Donkey.
Angel begs Emilio (cough cough) to wake up. Nurse Susi convinces "joven" Angel to take his medicine and rest. They leave and Emilio mutters "Flor, I love Flor."
Thelma is sure she heard a shot. She hopes it was Gaspar and she hopes they killed him. "Why such hate Thelma?" wonders Orlando.
Edelmira and Granillo are thrilled. They are doing a booming business thanks to Coral. Granillo buys a guy a drink and Edelmira glares at him, 30 pesos of profit down the drain! We get to see a split second of Coral's rock-hard buns doing a boom-shakalaka to the drums.
Thelma bends over to kiss Emilio while Orlando is raiding his toiletries. He says Thelma still hasn't told him why she hates that idiot Gaspar so much. Doesn't he know Gaspar is the guy who boinked and impregnated Thelma the drunken slut? Guess not. "No reason," she shrugs, "he's repugnant, that's all. Does he live nearby?" Orlando says he lives in a cave with his mom the witch, and Flor. Flor was put there by Don Loco. Thelma asks why Don Loco hates Flor so much. "Because he's loco," answers Orlando.
Orlando says he'll have to be careful of Don Loco if he wants to conquer Flor. This revelation interests Thelma and they spend the next few minutes taking digs at each other. She says her desire was to be presented as Emilio's wife in Puebla, but he doesn't even know he's married. Orlando says he probably knows, that's why he keep protesting in his delirium, that's why he has no desire to live. This ticks Thelma off, "of course he's going to live, he has to!" Orlando says they only have one recourse but Thelma's not going to like it. Luba, the curandera, is the only one who can save Emilio.
Cut to Luba tearing up strips of cloth to treat Gaspar's wound. She waves some herbs over his arm and wraps it up in dirty cloths, she's some healer. He keeps wailing about his munequita. Luba is sick of hearing about it. She tells him the woman in La Rinconada is Emilio Valtierra's wife. They are married. Period.
Flor returns and is shocked to see Gaspar bleeding. Luba tells Flor he took a bullet. "Is it serious, does it hurt?" she asks Gaspar. He nods his head with fervor, he's liking the attention.
The doctor is in Soledad's room. He tells Don Loco he wants to examine her alone. He gives Soledad smelling salts and she moans, "He killed my daughter. Murderer! He killed her..."
Thelma doesn't want to consult Luba. Thelma says she doesn't need that riffraff, she doesn't need anybody! Orlando asks would she prefer that Emilio die? They bicker some more until Orlando goes to bed. Alone, Thelma kisses Emilio, "wake up my love." He stirs and moans in her face, " I love Flor...Flor...Flor..."
Luba and Flor are commiserating in the cave, wondering what new torments Don Loco has in store for them. Flor cries that thanks to him she has been stuck in the cave for two years wearing the same clothes. Really. She said that. Luba can only imagine what kind of torture Soledad must be feeling, the kind of hell she must be going through without her daughter. Luba is a mother and understands. She gets angry and says one day everything will change, it has to change.
PAY ATTENTION because this is the wackiest scene so far: Coral is leaving Edelmira's place with a wad of cash. She walks out into a dark alley but someone is waiting for her. It's Jerimias, the old dude she beat up earlier. He brandishes a whip and tells her they're going to have a little chat. To Coral's credit, she doesn't look scared (and why should she?) merely annoyed. Suddenly, out of the dark, a feminine voice asks Jerimias what he's doing accosting a defenseless woman. Coral smirks. The camera pans up to reveal the speaker. Holy S**t, I think it's Granillo in drag! He's made-up and wearing a dress, a red wig and a feather boa. Jerimias is clueless, he says he'll play with both of them. Granilla says it will only take one of them to put Jerimias in his place. She yells "Aieeeeee!" and karate-chops Jerimias on the neck then stomps him into the ground. Coral claps, "Ay Ay Mamacita!"
Later, at La Rinconada, the soldiers are talking about getting back to work. Coral and "Grani" arrive. The soldiers are all "Que????" and roll their eyes. Guess the girls are having a sleep-over. I hope Don Max tries to sneak into Coral's room tonight....heh heh.
Don Loco has a flashback to happier times with Soledad. The doctor interrupts the daydream. Soledad's condition is very delicate. He doesn't understand why Soledad doesn't want to get out of bed. He has examined her carefully and can't find any physical wounds. (Ummm, didn't she fall off the balcony earlier? He can't tell? No wonder everybody goes to Luba and Flor for medical attention. This guy sucks.)
The doctor says Soledad has been out of it for hours, she won't move or open her eyes, that sort of apathy is very dangerous. "Your wife believes her daughter has died. She has lost all her will to live!" Don Loco is impactado, but I'm not sure why.
maldita sea! = damn it!
maldicion! = damn!
creida = conceited
tarado = idiot, defect
gentuza = riffraff, rabble

La Fea Más Bella #210 2/13/07 And the day goes on...
Sara and the cuartel read the letter trying to figure what exactly it means. After Sara reads the line about Fernando sleeping with Lety, they all shake their heads in disbelief.
Lety sits in the car dealership, thinking about Aldo's wise (and somewhat mushy) words about love and how it loves even defects. Tomas interrupts her thoughts to tell Lety that she needs to sign the papers for the car. She wanders in one direction, but he corrects her and off they go!
Meanwhile, in the bathroom at Conceptos, Lola deduces from the letter that Fernando signed "something" over to Lety. The rest of the cuartel takes a stab at figuring out the mystery. First there was the board meeting, then a lawyer talking about an embargo, then Lety was made President, then she made her ex-boyfriend vice-president! Martha is not interested in talk
about the business. She wants to know about the last line of the letter - the romance between Lety and Don Fernando. Sara gets frustrated and points out the Fernando only made Lety fall in love with him to save the business. Martha gets up to leave and tells the cuartel that they should talk to Lety. PM wants to know why Omar would write such a letter to Fernando. Lola takes the folder and at Martha's suggestion decides to analyze it and later give the cuartel a report. They exit their conference room.
Alicia sits at her new desk, trying not to listen to the girls conversations about Omar and El Cheque. Sara stops to ask Alicia why she didn't clean the floors. Alicia says she was waiting for Conceptos' own Cinderella to do it. That is, she was waiting for Sara to clean them. Sara says that the floors are just going to have to stay the way they are. They argue some more about the floor and go their separate ways. Marcia enters the room and asks PM for Aldo's phone number. There's dramatic music, but I'm not sure why.
Fernando pulls up to Conceptos in his "BMW." Fernando complains to Omar that he (Fernando) does not want to go into Conceptos. He does not want to run into Domenzain. The thought of it makes his stomach sick. Omar assures Fernando that Aldo is only interested in Alicia and is not the slightest bit interested in Fernando's little gargoyle. "To who?" Fernando replies. Omar stumbles over his words and eventually says that he meant the current President. Fernando points out that she has a name, Leticia Padilla Solis. Omar replies that he has no doubt he will learn that name in a few more days. They decide to go into Conceptos.
Marcia tells the cuartel that she desperately needs to contact Aldo. Luigi needs some information that only Aldo can give her. PM apologizes and says she does not have the number. Marcia tells PM to call Yazmin to see if she has any information. PM reluctantly does so, but asks Marcia to remain standing by her while she calls Yazmin. Yazmin says she will look for the number and will later talk to Marcia personally. Marcia catches Sara and Alicia tossing a towel back and forth. She asks them both if Fernando has arrived. They say that he hasn't; nor has Lety. Alicia points out that this must be a coincidence. Marcia does not appreciate the joke and tells both women to clean the floor. Ummm...isn't Juana the cleaning lady?
We present another commercial break! Lety would like the red Ford vehicle! She thanks the salesman, but first wants to know if there is a special plan for businesses. (Me, me, me! I know the answer! It's called the "X" plan!) She wants economical vehicles with financing for her business's employees. The salesman says he'll send her the information. (Hello? Did you not hear me? It's called the "X" plan. Duh, my information is like totally reliable!) He asks for her card. She replies that she didn't bring one, neither did Tomas. She gives her e-mail address instead. After they leave the salesman, Tomas pulls Lety aside and says it's pathetic that they don't have business cards. No one will believe who they are. (As if Lety's pirate shirt and Tomas's parrot hair didn't give them away.) Tomas says he'll make the cards. He also thinks they need another "weapon," cell phones! He begs, and Lety caves. Lety wants to know why Tomas did not buy a car. He hints that he has another option in mind.
Aldo plays with a fountain. He tells Carolina that he's sure Lety has received his gift. Caro asks if Aldo sent the gift in order to "conquer" Lety. Aldo says no. He thinks it's absurd to expect to receive love because of material gifts. Aldo says that the office feels very destructive, and Lety's going to be spending a lot of time there. He wants this painting to mean the same to her as the painting that she painted on her bedroom wall. Also, it represents their time in Acapulco. There's a quick flashback to when Aldo gave Lety a miniature conch shell. He says that he's going to conquer Lety with his heart and because he loves her.
Fernando and Omar enter the reception area. Omar takes notice of Yazmin. I guess it's Jazmin now. Fernando asks her about the large package. She reveals that it's from Aldo and it's intended for Lety. Fernando looks "thrilled."
We, the audience, are treated to a lovely shot of the Nextel office. Tomas argues to Lety that he thinks it's a great idea. Lety thinks that it's a dumb idea to buy a repossessed car. Jeez, I wonder what repossessed car Tomas will buy. A silver Mercedes perhaps? Tomas tries to reassure that his idea is great and that he loves the car. Yeah, so does the Oxigenada, Lety reminds him. They walk into the Nextel office. Lety says they need two phones. Tomas asks the saleslady her name. It's Alicia. Tomas points this out to Lety and also points out that this lady is a blonde. (I think). Lety replies that this lady is a natural blonde. Lety points out to Tomas all the cell phone options that they have. Tomas pretends that he's calling his girlfriend. The saleslady plays along and pretends to answer another cell phone. Everyone except Lety giggles.
Alicia calls her ex-husband, who is in a meeting. Alicia not so nicely tells the receptionist to have him call his wife. "Mauricio is with his wife?! He married again? No, he did not tell me." PM and Sara overhear this whole embarrassing conversation. Alicia corrects herself and say's that she's his ex-wife. The receptionist asks which one. After Alicia says her name, the reception remembers her. She was the witch!
Fernando thinks that the reception area should look professional, and that gift doesn't make it look good. He gives what is apparently a painting a nice kick. Jazmin says she's waiting for Saimon to take it to Lety. Fernando says this will not do. Saimon always takes a long time and that package will just sit there for a long, long time! Jazmin agrees, and says she can call Celso to do it. Fernando says no because Celso cannot leave his post. The phone rings; Fernando picks up and says that they're busy. After giving a nice little speech about how Conceptos is a leader because it always does things immediately, Fernando offers the services of one Omar Carvajal to carry the painting to it's destiny. Omar says it's going to give him an hernia. Yazmin tells Fernando the location of Lety's office. Fernando thanks her, and the men walk off with the painting.
The cuartel rush to Sara and PM to tell them the latest news. They looked through some boxes of Fernando's. Lola asks the girls to come to the conference room where they can safely talk.
Omar complains to Fernando about what their doing. Fernando tells him not to complain; he must see what's in the package. Omar asks if Fernando really intends to open it!
Fernando apprehensively opens the top of the painting. We're treated to another of Omar's squeals before Fernando goes at it and rips the paper off to reveal a painting of a conch. Fernando does not understand the significance. Omar thinks it would be a good idea to take the painting to it's place. Fernando agrees and puts Omar in charge of re-wrapping the painting.
Omar explains to Caro that the conch represents the beginning of life, of our own interiors. It's something physical and something spiritual. Guillermo interrupts and brings some books that will help them prepare for the big expo.
Fernando and Omar return to reception. Fernando asks Jazmin for Aldo. She tells him that Marcia was looking for Aldo as well, but no one had his cellular number. Omar asks why Marcia needed Aldo's phone number. Jazmin replies that Marcia has a meeting with Luigi and Ricky Armstrong. Fernando asks if Lety is in the meeting as well. Jazmin says that Lety has been away from the office for a long time. Fernando postulates that Lety left with Domenzain.
In the Nextel office, Lety selects her phone. Tomas asks Alicia, the saleslady, to explain the phones. We get a nice little commercial for Nextel. Lety rushes the saleslady; she needs to return to the office. Tomas asks Lety to accompany him to the mall so he can buy something intimate. Lety says she'll go.
Fernando and Omar talk about the possibility of Lety being with Aldo. Omar asks if Fernando intends to keep the painting. The boys, for what I think is the first time ever, talk business. Omar thinks the campaign should take place in the United States. Fernando disagrees, he thinks the Mexican diet is more important in Europe. Of course, the decision will be left up to the "hache" Lety. Omar thinks the "h" stands for horrible. Fernando says that of course it means honorable.
The cuartel returns to it's conference room. Lola tells the cuartel it's worse than they previously thought; Conceptos owes forty-five million dollars to a company called Filmo Imagen. PM figures out that Filmo Imagen means Tomas Mora. They resolve to research some more.
Alicia finally speaks with her Mauricio. She asks him for money. He reminds her that they are divorced. She says that when they married he said he would support her through the good and the bad and that they would not separate until death. She begs him for help. Aldo and Caro enter the room and overhear Alicia's pleas, but Aldo rushes Caro away from the difficult situation. Mauricio threatens to hang up the phone. She says they're not going to hang up until he resolves her problems.
I was hoping we would make it a whole episode without a Luigi scene, but no such luck! He, Marcia and Ricky talk about the slogan for the Mexican diet campaign. Aldo and Caro enter the office. Luigi introduces Aldo to Ricky. Luigi asks Aldo if he would like a modern slogan. No, Aldo says he would like something warmer that shows a Mexican family around the table eating a home-made meal. Affection is the most important thing.
Alicia continues to talk to Mauricio. Alicia guesses that it doesn't bother Mauricio one bit that her life is now in ruins. Lety and Tomas enter to hear Alicia crying while talking to her ex. She has photos she can use as blackmail. He'll pay so that no one sees those photographs.
The cuartel continue to talk about the Conceptos situation. Lola gives a brief summary of the situation to Juana. Lots of re-hash. Martha and PM are still pre-occupied about Lety and Fernando's romance.
Lety and Tomas continue to listen to Alicia talk to her husband. Mauricio thinks that Alicia is extorting him. He hangs up on her. Alicia wails. Lety approaches her and asks what's wrong. Alicia cries for a moment and then explains that these are just her problems. Lety asks for the cuartel. Alicia says that they're in the bathroom, and they've been in their all day. Juana passes with Omar’s trash. Lety stops her and asks about it and then tells Juana to go on with the trash. Alicia says that she needs to speak with Lety. Lety asks for a little time first. Tomas remains at Alicia's desk and asks her to come to his office.
Tomas stops to ask Lety if that was the trash bag contained all of her and Fernando's memories. She confirms. He asks if Lety thinks it's dangerous having that bag go all over the office, there's a lot of gossips. No, it's going to where it belongs now.
Marcia asks Alicia about Lety’s arrival time. Alicia says that she came into the office a few moments ago with Tomas Mora. From the other side of the room, Lety and Aldo enter the scene. He's wondering about the painting. She says that she hasn't seen it, but she'll ask Jazmin about it. She asks Aldo to describe it. He does and at that moment, Pinky and the Brain walk off the elevator. (In a few weeks I'll leave a youtube link with these two and that theme song; currently, there's just too many spoilers in it.) Fernando literally walks into Aldo's arms. Marcia asks Fernando why he has the painting. Fernando pulls away from Aldo, hands it to Omar and oh so slickly says that he doesn't have anything. Besides, the package was just sitting in reception. There was nobody to take it to its place. Aldo points out that Fernando had the painting in his possession for quite a long time. Omar replies that they had to go to the editing room. Aldo thinks that Fernando knew that Aldo gave it to Leticia. Fernando plays dumb. Aldo thanks Fernando for bringing it to its place.
The cuartel re-hash some more about the bolsa roja that Omar left for Fernando. That's when Lety began to cry so much. They figure out that must have been the time that Lety found the letter.
Fernando snatches the package from Omar and hands it to Aldo. He tells Aldo not to thank him because he didn't do it as a favor for Aldo. Marcia asks if he did it for Lety. Yes, wait, no, no, no! Not for Lety! It was that it looked bad sitting in reception. Besides, it's just a painting of a conch. (How did this guy get away with cheating on Marcia so many times?) Aldo knows that Fernando opened the package. Fernando pulls the "wrapping just came apart" trick. Omar, as a good friend, backs him up. Fernando offers Aldo to help carry the painting into Lety's office. Aldo says he doesn't need help; he's stronger than Fernando. OOOHHH! Man fight! Alicia asks why Aldo gave Lety a gift if it's not her birthday. Aldo replies that he gave the gift just to give a gift. Lety and Aldo leave the room with the painting. Marcia and Alicia tease Fernando. He asks if they heard Aldo panting. Omar thinks the painting gave Aldo a Hernia. Fernando tells Omar to give it up.
Lola cannot believe that Lety would do such a thing with Fernando. Pam’s not so optimistic. She would have done the exact same thing. (You and almost everyone else, PM) Sara thinks that Lety should not know that the cuartel read the letter or that they know about the balance.
Lety tells Aldo that the painting is precious. Beautiful, really. She thanks him with a hug. She says that the conch is not broken, like her heart. Aldo caresses her and asks if this means that her heart is still broken. And fin!

Duelo Monday 2-12; in which Gaspar has a secret admirer, Coral kicks (an) ass and Don Loco admits he’s loco.
We left Alina/Flor, hovering by Emilioooo's bedside, she's stroking his hair and weeping. After she gets up and leaves the room Emilio murmurs "I am going to fight for you. I'm going to live for you."
The soldiers sans Orlando are sitting with Don Maximo in his living room. One of them (I can never keep them straight, except for Orlando and Frank, who was the cutest but now has a messed up face thanks to Don Loco) asks, where the hell are the authorities? They should have been here by now to pick up Don Alvaro. Don Max says he sent a peon to San Mateo to notify the authorities. They discuss Santos' supposed participation and that Don Alvaro could have gotten Santos to keep that from happening. Don Max slaps his head, "Why didn't I think of that?!" Frank says they should take care of Santos themselves and notify their general in Puebla about the incident. Max gets up, pours himself one from the lead crystal decanter and says, no boys, don't worry, I'll take care of it. Frank thanks him and says his head just isn't in the game today, after what happened. Orlando comes in and asked "what happened? Did something happen to Emilio during the night?" (Geez, guy, curb your enthusiasm!) Frank tells him, "no but something big is going to happen today—Thelma won. Padre Cristobal agreed to let her marry Emilio, under the legal provision for deathbed marriages. " Orlando smiles one of his snarky smiles and looks shifty-eyed.
Back to Emilio on his supposed deathbed. He murmurs "Flor—Flor" just as the doctor is walking in and smiles. "My God, he spoke!" He calls out that Emilio is waking up. Thelma and her Aunt Rebeca run into the room. Thelma is desperate and runs to the bed asking the doctor what happened. The doctor explains that Emilio just said a few words—he mentioned Flor's name. Thelma is impactado.
Over at Don Loco's hacienda, Adela is brushing Soledad's amazing Hollywood hair. Soledad is full of anxiety that she has heard nothing about her daughter, the wedding and Don Loco is also missing. Adela tries to reassure her that it's probably because everything went as it was supposed to (No news is good news) and Alina and Emilio are now very far away on their honeymoon. Soledad doesn't buy it. If everything had gone well, she knows that Alina would have sent her a message, something, to let her know everything was all right (Yeah, like wasn't she supposed to get let out of prison and have Don Loco arrested for kidnapping after revealing the big secret?). Soledad thanks Adela for her efforts but jumps up and says she's leaving, she's going to escape. Adela freaks out and tries to talk her out of it but Soledad is on a mission. Like this has never happened before…
Max and Loco are sitting in the storage room doubling as a holding cell for Don Loco at la Rinconada. Don Loco is still tied to a chair and gagged from yesterday's escape attempt. Max is ticked and Don Loco unable to speak gives him a baleful look. Don Max says, hey don't blame me! It's all your woman's fault, Soledad's. (Huh? Oh yeah. Soledad drove him so crazy with her alleged infidelity that not only does he take it out on the child he thought was his daughter but tries to murder her intended. What, is he afraid of inheritance claims?) He launches into a discussion of how Don Loco was the richest, handsomest guy in the town and how he could have had any woman, but he picked Soledad. "And then she cuckolds you…" After working himself through this story, Max jumps up from his chair and decides that he is going to let Alvaro get his revenge. For the second time, he agrees to free Don Loco, "so that he can unleash all his rage at Soledad." (This logic escapes me—maybe there's a reason that bottle on the table is half empty.) Don Loco thanks Don Max and tells him he appreciates him running down Soledad, his words have strengthened his resolve to get his revenge.
Thelma and the Doctor are talking about Emilio. Thelma wants to know if she can expect him to talk some more. The Doctor says no, that she mustn't get her hopes up. Thelma carefully asks him not to tell the others that he spoke, so as "not to get their hopes up" either. The Doctor says he's leaving for Puebla to get some medicine that he thinks should help Emilio. When he leaves the room, Thelma leans over Emilio and kisses him. Vera comes in and Thelma advises her to tell everyone to prepare for a wedding, she's going to marry Emilio both by the church and civilly TODAY, as soon as the judge shows up! (She's gotta act fast, before he wakes up!) Vera can't quite believe it and Thelma tells her to hurry up! When Vera leaves, Thelma leans over Emilio's bed and kisses his hand with a cat that ate the canary smile.
Orlando is walking outside and finds that the other soldiers are saddling up for a ride to San Mateo to make the formal accusations themselves, since Santos has allegedly thwarted the previous attempt, according to Don Max. At just that moment, Santos arrives on horseback with Rosita and Orlando says "Look—it's Don Alvaro's accomplice!"
Inside la Rinconada, Aunt Rebeca is talking to Alina/Flor. In the most sugary of terms, she gets her to agree to be a witness to Emilio's wedding to Thelma, since she's the one responsible for making it happen.
Back outside the soldiers immediately tear into Santos, dragging him off his horse, with Rosita screaming. Santos and Rosita have no idea what is going on. The soldiers would have beaten Santos to a pulp if it hadn't been for Padre Cristobal who shows up in the nick of time. He tell them they are making an already tragic situation worse. Orlando gets all chesty and yells at Padre Cristobal saying, "Stay out of this Padre, it doesn't concern you." Padre Cristobal doesn't back down and stops the soldiers. And anyway, there is a wedding about to take place. Frank wants to stay behind to "guard the prisoner" but Padre Cristobal stops him too, saying he knows Santos, he knows where he lives and that he will vouch for him. The guys leave to follow Padre Cristobal. Santos returns to Rosita and tells her to calm down. Rosita wants to know who Emilio is marrying on his deathbed. Is it Flor?
In Emilio's bedroom All the soldiers, Orlando, Thelma, Rebeca and Flor are there with the Judge and the Priest. Thelma quickly gives her consent and the judge asks for Orlando's consent as the witness for Emilio for the civil ceremony. Padre Cristobal then asks Emilio for his consent.( Just before he answers, someone slams a door. I guess they were afraid of running out of film and couldn't do a retake) Emilio croaks out "Yes I accept to be married to….Flor." Everybody is impactado including Flor.
Rosita and Santos are in the kitchen discussing what just took place. Rosita is munching on a cookie. They speculate again on how Emilio could be getting married and why the soldiers went after Santos. Rosita says, "we've got to find out why the Patron's friends are angry with you." Santos actually turns to look in the distance and says "it's almost as if someone told them something to turn them against me" "But who? Who?"
As if in answer, the scene cuts to Don Maximo who is with the wedding party in Emilio's bedroom. "And so," says Don Max, a wry smile on his face "They can't marry…" The judge says "the situation is that this could be disputed by la Senorita Flor. We need to clarify this right now." Thelma protests that it's clear Emilio is delirious. "Understand that we can't go over what Emilio has said" says Padre Cristobal. "It wouldn't be right." Orlando chimes in, "Emilio could say anything in the state he's in. I'm the proxy. I'm the one who has to respond. (If that's true, then why are they all crammed into Emilio's bedroom?) Padre Cristobal says, it's Flor who has the say in this matter. "Flor?!" says Thelma with a sour expression. Everyone looks at Flor. Padre Cristobal asks her if she really wants to go through this or not.
Back at Hacienda Don Loco, Soledad is hanging off a tiny wrought iron balcony while Adela is begging her to come inside. She's trying to make it to the roof of a shorter building.
Back to the wedding. Padre Cristobal is pushing Flor a wee bit. Are you sure that you are stepping down from the place that Emilio gave you as his fiancée and ceding it to Thelma Castillo? Even after what you just heard? Thelma protests. The padre is giving Flor too much time to think about it. Flor has a flashback of Thelma telling her she's pregnant. Flor says in a small but clear voice that Of course Emilio was not conscious. He didn't know what he was saying. Of course she wants the ceremony to go forward. "I am sure that if Srta. Castillo could have spoken to him earlier, Emilio would have agreed to marry her. The camera shows Thelma's face which expresses the certain knowledge that this is a complete lie. (How low can she go but to marry a guy on his deathbed against his will. She's only getting him because he's completely incapacitated.) Orlando thanks Flor for her sincerity and tells the judge that Emilio has always been a man of honor and well, you know judge, what I told you before, ahem…he would have done the right thing. The Judge says that he's satisfied that Flor isn't fighting the wedding, and they can continue.
Back to Soledad's escape attempt. Her hand slips and (dun dun DUN!) She falls into a pile of what looks like hay. The hay must have had rocks beneath it because Soledad is knocked out cold.
At the wedding--As soon as the words were pronounced, Flor runs out of the room looking like she is going to burst into tears. The rest of the participants go to sign the judge's book. Flor runs into the kitchen crying. Rosita asks her what's wrong. She tells her that Thelma married Emilio. Rosita is impactada. Flor weeps that she had wanted to tell Emilio who she really was. Rosita says something like God works in mysterious ways. "Maybe Don Emilio wouldn't have believed you when you told him." "Still it was the only hope I had," says Flor. Rosita spits out some angry words for Thelma, that it's all her fault. Flor says not to blame her. Rosita can't believe it that Flor is defending Thelma.
Sergio is there and standing over Soledad in the pile of hay. "Why didn't you call out?" Sergio asks Adela. "Well, because the Lady was escaping…" Adela tries to wake her.
Finally a scene with Angel and Nurse Susi. Angel is freaking out again over the lack of information afforded him in his little cabin away from the hacienda. Susi tells him she'll go and try to find out what's happening. After she leaves the room he tries to get up but he's too weak. He hits the bed in frustration. "I wish I were stronger so that I could protect you Flor."
Back to Soledad, still out cold but now on her bed, with Adela bending over her to listen to her breathing. Sergio asks if she's dead. No says Adela after listening. But her breathing is weak. Sergio is concerned about what the Patron will think. Adela urges him to keep quiet about the escape attempt. "Why should I?" says Sergio. Adela offers to help him get what he wants. Sergio mentions that what he'd really like is to get Nora the maid to go out with him. If she can make that happen, he'll keep quiet about what happened, this time.
At la Rinconada, Don Max and Don Loco are chatting again in the store room. Don Max is getting worried that Emilio's friends are itching to do something about getting the authorities involved. Don Loco says, "You have to help me." Max says, he will but he's trying to find a way to do it. Don Loco really wants to get out so he can see what Soledad is up to. Don Max says that it must be awful to be alone with his thoughts. You have no idea, says Don Loco, "When I think of what she did to me, my blood boils and my hands (sting? Se me pungen los manos). One day I won't be able to control myself and I will end up killing her. Don Max says he understands. "She really went beyond the pale when she got a dress for Alina." Don Loco agrees. "It's the same dress that Soledad wore to our wedding. She did that on purpose to make fun of me." "The next time I see her face to face, she'll pay. This I will never forgive."
Adela is trying to wake Soledad. And she's coming out of it. She says she's feeling OK, not to get a doctor. Adela hopes that this has taken away her urge to escape. Soledad says no. That she will be free and Don Loco will pay for making her suffer. (I am thinking that maybe death might be the kind of freedom she might be getting.)
Back to Don Loco and Don Max. Don Loco is still going on about how he is going to make Soledad suffer. He's going to really make her suffer this time. Don Loco looks excited. You are going to kill her? Don Loco says (yet again) that death would be too easy for her. He has plans but first he has to be free. Don Max says he'll take care of it. He has a plan. He unties Don Max from the chair.
Rosita and Flor are in the kitchen. Rosita has a bunch of what looks like Chamomile in a jar and she's picking off the flowers, I assume, to make chamomile tea. They are still talking about why Flor let Thelma marry Emilio. Flor will only say that Emilio knew Thelma a lot longer than her. Even longer than she knew him as Alina.
Who come strolling in at that moment but Don Max, who is practically drooling over the sight of the two girls in the kitchen. He says he needs to talk to Flor and leads her to his office.
Coral and Orlando are deep in discussion about Emilio. Coral is crying over Emilio as Orlando is describing him as being at death's door. Orlando is putting on a good act, choking back the tears himself. Orlando tells Coral that Thelma married Emilio. (Maybe he is still trying to get her to leave?) "We're all praying for him." Says Orlando. "Only a miracle can save him." "It will be as God wishes" says Coral. Now I have to go to work at the Meson de Edelmira. I want to be near Emilio and I cannot, cannot fail his wife. (I wasn't clear on this last bit. I thought Thelma didn't even know she was there and would start another cat fight if she did).
In Don Max's office, Max says he can help Flor find her way out of her predicament. Flor says, well why doesn't he help by telling her father that he has been wrong about her and her mother. Don Max disagrees. Her father is so deep into his revenge he wouldn't be able to convince him otherwise. He says that she could prove that she's related to him supporting his being able to leave the hacienda. She only has to convince Thelma it seems. After all, she convinced Padre Cristobal to let the wedding go forward. Flor may be a little ditsy sometimes but she's smart enough to see through that plan. "Why should I let him go? So that he can torture me some more?" She refuses and leaves and Don Max is clearly ticked off. Flor was smarter than he thought. He will have to come up with another plan.
The odious Thelma and her auntie are drinking what looks like cognac out of cut crystal snifters and having a great old time. Ifigenio shows up with her suitcases which had been forgotten in all the rush. After he leaves, Thelma jumps up from the couch and goes ballistic. The red dress! She has to dispose of it! She pulls it out of the suitcase and balls it up, giving it to her aunt to throw away in the trash.
Coral is at the meson wearing short shorts and a little sleeveless hoodie, practicing her dance with the band. As she does a shimmy, backing into a corner, an old drunk parks himself in a chair near her rear end and gives her a quick feel. She turns around enraged and slaps him, knocks him on the floor and starts kicking him. The club manager (Edelmira?) comes over to her and tells her to stop. Coral says she's done practicing and tells the band to quit.
Back at Don Loco's hacienda, Adela and Nora are talking. Adela broaches the subject of Sergio and whether she'd go out with him. No, says Nora, "you know who I really like? Gaspar!" Adela is flabbergasted," the mental retard?" Nora gets all dreamy about how "big" and "handsome" he is and how he has a good heart. (Yep, that's our Gaspar, a hunk a burnin' love.)
Back to Max who has made indecent proposal #1, was rejected and is now going for indecent proposal #2. Rather than asking Flor to intercede with Thelma to let Don Loco go. He has decided to ask Thelma directly to let him go. Thelma can't see why until Don Max explains to her Don Loco's mania with Flor and how if Don Loco is in jail, Flor will be able to wander around freely. If Emilio ever wakes up he may want to pick up where he left off with her even being married to Thelma. If Don Loco is free, he'll be able to keep Flor away from la Rinconada and make sure that she has no boyfriends or fiancees. Thelma considers this and agrees to the plan.
In the next scene, Thelma asks Vera to tell all the servants that Flor is no longer welcome at la Rinconada. Vera looks flustered, and asks for clarification. Thelma tells her to follow her orders. Vera suggests that everybody owes Flor a great deal and that she would have trouble carrying out this order. Thelma can see the resistance in Vera's eyes and gets nasty. She grabs her by the arm and tells her to do as she's bidden. She doesn't owe that dirty girl anything. And she is La senora Valtierra and everybody must obey her.
Rosita and Flor are talking outside. It's hard to hear. I think Flor is telling Rosita that in spite of everything, she's still in love with Emilio and is eager to see the doctor return so that he can help him get better.
Back in the kitchen the servants are angrily going over the orders of the new Senora Valtierra. Vera is saying that she doesn't know how she will tell Flor, just as Flor walks in. When it is explained to her that Thelma wants her to go, she asks," What did I do?" "Rosita tearfully says, this is how you are paid for your kindness!" Vera's husband, whose name I forget, and Santos start making plans about telling all of the other servants and peones so that they can effectively flout Thelma's orders. Flor tells them to stop, she will go. Rosita cries on Santo's Shoulder. The other servants stew.
Adela is talking to Soledad who is still lying down and speaking like she's a little light headed. Soledad is still wondering about Alina. Adela keeps feeding her lines about how Alina must be far away by now. Adela also says she wants to get a doctor but Soledad says no. Adela offers to go to Luba's cave and see what she can find out about Alina. And Soledad seems to relax a bit.
At the meson Coral is talking to Granillo and the manager. Granillo is doing the "you go girl" thing. The other woman is not sure. Jeramias is just a harmless old drunk. "He's done that to me before" she says. Coral goes all defiant. "Well, he went too far with me," she says.
Don Max and the soldiers, including Orlando are having a discussion when Thelma walks in. Orlando asks her to weigh in on the discussion. They are talking about whether they should let Don Loco go. She agrees with Don Max that he should be let go. After all, she says, this could get turned around. He could accuse us of kidnapping him. Let him go back to his hacienda and the authorities will know where to look for him. We have enough problems with Emilio in danger of death "Let him go." Frank doesn't like this. "And if Emilio dies?" Don Loco says, "I will make sure he pays for his crime." "Me too" says Orlando.
Flor is back in the cave with Tonki, she starts crying.
Back at la Rinconada, Doctor Vasquez is finally back from Puebla. He has just finished looking at Emilio and is in conversation with Thelma. "I don't understand it" he says. "when I left, he was in so much better shape. " " I had high hopes." "I don't know what could have happened in the intervening time to worsen his condition." Orlando sails in and tells the doctor he can tell him what happened while he was gone. Thelma looks uncomfortable. Orlando tells the doc that Emilio married Thelma on his deathbed. Doctor Vasquez shakes his head in disbelief. "That's unforgivable," he said. Thelma acts all shocked. "What's wrong? He was in danger of death, he was unconscious so I married him." Vasquez says, "he was unconscious, how would you know what he wanted?" At that precisely that moment, Emilio murmurs, "I accept Flor, as my wife" as if repeating his wedding vows. The doctor leans over him to check his pulse and says, one should never countermand the wishes of someone who is injured, not even someone on their deathbed." Thelma tries to defend her actions by saying that Emilio is confused because of his injury. The doctor replied archly that "if there had been no second wedding, there would be no confusion, Srta. Castillo." Thelma shoots back that he should call her Senora Valtierra, because she's the wife of Emilio Valtierra. The doc counters that he is no longer responsible for Emilio's life. Thelma looks a little worried.
Don Max comes in to see Don Loco at the storage room-jail. He tells him, he's fixed it. Don Loco is free to go. He throws a bundle of white cloth stained with blood on the table. It's the wedding dress. He offers it to Don Loco to "return it to Soledad." They make plans for Don Loco's departure but first, Don Loco wants to say thanks to Thelma. Don Max says, what about me? and they have a little mutual admiration society going for awhile. Finally they take off to see Thelma.
We return for only the second time this episode to Angel and Nurse Susi. Angel's tired of waiting. He wants to see his brother. Susi tries to dissuade him but this time he's really going. Susi goes to pack a few things. Angel has another coughing fit.
Thelma and Don Loco are seated in the living room talking. Actually, Thelma is doing most of the talking. She explains that Flor is the one who convinced Don Cristobal to wed her and Emilio. But now she wants Flor as far away from her husband as possible. Don Loco gets it immediately, what with all the cheating spouses and all. Thelma is curious to know what Don Loco's motivation is, that he'd rather kill Flor than let her be with Emilio. She tosses out that maybe Don Loco is in love with Flor. Don Loco is impactado.
Flor and Luba are talking in the cave. Luba says in her cynical way, "So that's how the lady repays you? By throwing you out in the street?!" Flor sobs, "but what could I do?" "If I can't take care of him, If I can't be near him. He's a married man." Luba says, "you were the one who left him!" Flor's response is "Enough! Don't you know I am already suffering terribly?." Luba says, and don't you think I am also?"(No, not really Luba, unless Emilio was the love of your life too.)
Back in the big Sala, Don Loco and Thelma are still talking. Don Loco is reacting Thelma's charge that he is in love with Alina. She says, "what's the big deal? Rich Landowners often fall in love with Servants." Don Loco protests that she's not a servant. Thelma then turns to explore Don Loco's reaction. "when her name is merely mentioned, it's like you lose all reason." Don Loco responds, "I lost my reason a long time ago." He gives up on the discussion, thanks her and leaves, taking the bloody dress in a black garbage bag.
Back to Flor and Luba. Luba tells her she should eat something but Flor demurs. She asks about Gaspar. Luba says he's always wondering around even though she told him not to go near la Rinconada. Luba is worried that Don Loco is going to show up.
Don Max is bidding Don Loco goodbye, FINALLY! Before he does to the Hacienda, he has an errand to run. He trots off.
Santos comes out to talk to Don Max. Don Max starts accusing him of helping Don Alvaro escape (kind of like what just happened a few seconds ago?) and uses the opportunity to fire him. Santos is impactado.
Luba is praying, asking for help for Flor and for strength for herself, for her next confrontation with Don Loco. Flor protests that she shouldn't be asking for her, that she'll be OK.
Just then the voice of Don Loco comes from outside the cave. LUBA! The camera focuses on Luba's scared face.
And that is where my Tivo stopped recording.

La Fea Más Bella #208-209 2/12/07 in which one of those darn boxes finally gets opened.
PM is steamed because Alicia is very reluctant to vacate the high-prestige desk of the presidency. They fight over the phone, then the oxy sprays disinfectant/insecticide (she says it kills cockroaches etc) all over Sara. Squabble, squabble.
Simon totes those boxes around some more (one box becomes, finally, important at last, see below).
Sara draws a chalk line on the floor to separate her office space from Alicia's new low-prestige desk. More squabbling.
Aldo finally gets a chance to see Lety and, his face about three inches from hers, tells her Conceptos has 2 million dollars to play with. He leans in for a kiss (maybe), she flinches.
Tomas arrives - it's time for lunch - Lety introduces him to Aldo. Tomas doesn't like Aldo because he said he likes "curvy pears," which Tomas understands to mean Alicia.
Alicia has announced "Aldo looks at me like he wants me" without realizing he's an equal opportunity guy who gazes at everybody with the identical look; it can be interpreted either as (1) flirting or (2) an appreciation of that particular soul's inner beauty.
Tomas says he made lunch reservations for only two. Just then Caro calls and Aldo, realizing he's not getting an invite from Tomas to join them, accepts Caro's invitation. I guess Caro's ready for another earful about the "Taste of Life."
Lety is mad at Tomas for refusing Aldo a seat at their lunch table. Tomas says he's missing Julieta's food like crazy, couldn't she work at Conceptos and be Vice President of Comestibles? The clients would like it.
After PM manages to wrest the phone out of Alicia's deathgrip, she places a call to Caro, at lunch with Aldo (who is bending her ear about the expensive construction of his new restaurant). She asks Caro to come on board and help with the Gastronomic Tourism exposition they're planning.
Tomas says: "Lety, if you'd take Aldo as your boyfriend, you'd solve your own problem and stop sighing over Fern, and you'd solve my problem, which is that my beloved Oxy has set her cap for Aldo." "It's not that easy, despite my efforts I still love Fern." "Are you going to spend your life wretched, in love with a man who betrayed you? Go with Aldo, you'll be happy and you'll clear my way with Alicia. It's not just self-interest, you're my only friend, I want you to be happy."
Lety: "We kissed, twice; the second time, it was I who kissed him!" ("How did two rich sexy guys fall in love with a, uh, with a woman like you?" whispers Tomas.) "I did it because I was trying to forget Don Fernie, I thought I wouldn't see him again, I let myself have a tender, ephemeral romance. But then I saw Fern again - I shouldn't believe him - I should keep my distance... but I sensed he was looking at me with love - and he told me he loved me..." "I hope you sent him to the devil (blew him off)." "Yes, but I remembered the past - and he said he loved me from the depths of his soul..."
Cut to Fern and Omar at Le Noir. Fern opens his wallet and sees a well-worn mash note from Lety tucked in there; he is muy impactado.
Simon and PM are miffed with each other so he takes the opportunity to enjoy Jazmin's flirting (her awful fake boobs look like tennis balls under her skin).
Erasmo grumps to Julieta about her visiting Conceptos when she should have been home cooking his lunch. He hasn't heard anything about Aldo yet, she realizes. He grumps that he doesn't want Lety distracted by guys.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Aldo asks that the car stop so he can get some fresh air. Caro (dressed in some faux-Japanese style with sticks stuck in her hairdo) gets out too. He tells her Conceptos is an adventure, and everybody there is enchanting in his/her own way, even Alicia. "Oh, not Alicia," wails Caro, "she's awful and will do anything to snag a sucker like you." Then he wonders if Lety sees him only as a brother. Caro encourages him, saying Lety painted her room like the sea to remind herself of Aldo.
Alicia is on the phone trying to convince her dad to pick her up from work every day - she says she'll go halfsies on the gas money but he doesn't believe her.
She sees Tomas and tells her dad: "Oh, I see the cause of my woe right here in front of me - he's an animal, an insect, a social climber, a cross between a scorpion and a cockroach, a bacterium." "Hola," ventures Tomas. "Dad, you just heard it, the voice of a bacterium." "Don't talk to me, don't breathe!" she instructs Tomas. She slaps him. He mildly suggests all the guilt is not on his side. "I wasn't mocking you, Alicia, it was all terribly important to me, but all you cared about was the money ... things turned a bit materialistic." She has tears in her eyes moaning over her car. "The lawyers destroyed me." "It wasn't I who had a lien put on your car, Alicia; you would have lost it anyway." She says she would have squeezed everybody ELSE she knew much harder, but she thought Tomas would come through - he let her down at the last minute. He apologizes. She doesn't accept.
Deflated, Tomas goes down to reception where he is instantly reinflated by Jazmin's attentions (Jazmin is remembering the divine car he used to drive). Lety arrives to take him car-shopping. He muses that, paradoxically, while Jazmin drools over him downstairs, upstairs Alicia thinks he's her worst enemy.
Lety realizes she forgot the directions and, going back for them, encounters Sara and Alicia locked in mortal combat between their desks. She says if this is fighting, she'll have to report them. They say all is well.
Tomas says: "You say you want to forget Fern, but you let him stay and you gave him an office." They discuss the sweetie-pie cards in the black plastic bag. "Lety, why didn't you throw them away?" "They were my life - they were sacred. I gave them to him to see what he'd do with them." Tomas thinks Fern is jealous of Aldo, Lety pish-tushes.
Fern and Omar are also discussing the trash bag. "I couldn't bear to see those cards in the trash. They hold precious memories. At first they were lies, but they became true." Omar: "What really pains me is that this great literature of love ended up in the trash! My unique, irreplaceable writings, very effective you must admit! - worst of all is that this magnificent poetry must remain hidden." "Seriously, I can't bear to lose her."
Marcia hauls Alicia into her office. [Editor's note: isn't it odd that each, Marcia and Fern, has a confidante he/she appears to loathe?] She's brooding about a possible return of the Lety/Fern nightmare. Rehash.
Alicia says she likes Aldo so much, she'd like him even if he were poor. "You know perfectly well you're only saying that because you know he ISN'T poor." [Although Aldo has just informed Caro that "Taste of Life" is causing him a fortune to build so perhaps he won't be quite so rich soon.] "Well, I think Lety wants to humiliate you, get Fern back, and steal your business away from you."
Stung, Marcia calls Fern and it seems he is more repelled by this call than all the previous calls combined. She asks in a cooing soft little voice: "Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? When are you coming back?" He answers frostily and impatiently - he's at the bank with Omar, why do you want to know? etc. He slams the phone shut and asks Omar: "Why does she believe me when I'm lying and disbelieve me when I'm telling the truth?" Simultaneously Marcia tells Alicia she can't tolerate any more - she'll quit, pack up, and leave. Alicia: "No! Then I'd have to leave too - you can't leave me here with the witches"
While Lety sits alone somewhere writing happily in her diary about Aldo and how kind he's been to her, and how he made her feel beautiful and important even from the first moment they met, a very different situation is unfolding back at Conceptos. Those boxes Simon has been toting around turn out to be Omar's records, and when Lopez orders the cuartel to sort them out, Sara finds the infamous letter from Omar to Fern, which Lety bound into his prospectus for the Big Meeting. "This is the gossip of the century," gloats Martha. They fight over the letter but take it to the bathroom and read the whole thing and figure out the whole sordid plot.

Acorralada - #20 - 2/9/07 Pancho Finds Out Payback's Una Perra!
Pancho and Caramel are bickering back and forth. He says he wants to marry her. Besides, they are in business together. The fact the business is illegal is beside the point. "A business I want to leave," adds Caramel. "But it's a profitable business" says Pancho. "Yeah, and you're a liar and a cheater," retorts Caramel. You can tell she's weakening, however.***Don't do it, Caramel!!!*** Pancho keeps making excuses and flattering her, suggesting that they go back to his place so he can show her how much he loves her. Keep in mind Pancho lives with his Mom and brother Diego. Caramel suggests a hotel along the beach. Don't have to ask Pancho twice.
"Congratulations," says a stunned Max. "I wish you all the happiness in the world." What a drip! Diana starts to cry after Max leaves. Diego tells Diana she owes him an explanation. Right at that moment, Granny M walks in with a cup of tea to settle Diana's "nerves." Diana asks to speak to Diego alone.
Bruno and Debora are fighting about the real Marfil waking up and wanting to return to the house. Debora wants no part of Marfil's return; she's afraid she'll end up in jail. "How will we explain 'the relapse' to Max?" Bruno--"Then what should we tell Marfil?" D--"Tell her the truth. Max fell in love with the nurse and I took her place at great personal sacrifice, to keep Max from divorcing her. When Marfil is totally cured, she can come back and I'll leave. No one will know the difference." B--"OK, I'll go talk to Marfil and try to convince her." D--"You'd better, our freedom is at stake." Bruno leaves and Debora says to herself that Marfil picked a bad time to wake up, there is NO WAY Debora's leaving that house and all that money. Even if she has to kill her twin!
Diana tries to explain to Diego the Putz what happened between her and Max and why she lied to Max. "He needs to be with his wife. She needs him. I'm incapable of causing pain to someone. I don't want to be a home wrecker." Diego pathetically says he had hoped what she said (about being engaged) was true. With time perhaps her feelings will change. A single tear runs pointedly down Diana's cheek. Diana--"Alas, it can never be. You're a nice guy, but. . .You deserve a woman who values your love. I love Max, not you, and that's never going to change." ***And you wonder why I think he's a putz?***
***This scene was a little hard for me to follow. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.***Camila and M/D are chatting on the phone. M/D proudly states Diana is never returning to the mansion. Camila points out that won't stop Max from seeing Diana on the street. "We need to make Max hate her. That's why we need to cough up $20,000 to give to Andres for his secret." M/D is twirling her hair, a la Jos in Mundo. M/D says she has an idea. Camila tells her to put it into place. M/D suggests that perhaps Diana isn't the problem. "Maybe YOU are the problem!" Camila retorts that Max doesn't want an invalid like Marfil--he's going to come back to me. M/D says she and Camila can return to being rivals and fight for Max. Camila hangs up and M/D laughs "Stupid Camila has no idea I'm not an invalid, and in fact, I'm not even Marfil!"
Octave and her sister, Yolanda, are discussing what happened between Diana and Max, while Lala is serving them. I think Octave says something to the effect that she knew all along Max would get caught with Diana. Octave walks off. Lala tells Yolanda that Diana isn't a bad person--she just fell for the wrong guy. Yolanda agrees. Lala says the bad part of all of this is that Granny DS is the one who will suffer.
Diana is telling Gaby how bad she feels about getting caught kissing Max. "Marfil is such a good person. Then to make matters worse, I lied about marrying Diego. I hope you don't get fired for being my sister." "I hope that doesn't happen either," says Gaby "because Larry just asked me to marry him." Diana is impactada.
Octave is consoling M/D. O--"Please don't judge my son." M/D--"Don't worry. I love him, although I won't deny I'm hurt about what happened. O--"I understand. Let's move forward and treat this all as a bad memory." Octave walks downstairs and runs into Max. "Your victim is waiting for you." M--"Is she calm now?" Octave and Max fight some more about Diana. The usual. Octave is blaming Diana for everything and Max is defending Diana.
M/D is in her room ranting about her sister when Max knocks on the door. He begs for her forgiveness. She apologizes for her hysterics, as well. M/D blames everything on Diana. Max says it's all his fault, but M/D stops him, "It doesn't matter. I love you and need you. I want to forget this whole sordid business."
Diana doesn't believe at first that Larry has proposed to Gaby. Being the supportive sister, she points out that Larry doesn't love her. He's on the rebound. G--"But he sounded sincere!" D--"What are you going to do?" G--"I'm going to pray to the Virgin of Guadalupe for guidance."***I have to insert here that I am very disappointed in my Larry. Just when I thought he wasn't as dopey as I had initially thought, he comes up with this harebrained idea. Larry, Larry, Larry. We need to talk. . .***
If memory serves, Larry is in his room and still wearing his tight blue t-shirt. I also just noticed I think he has pictures of himself on the nightstand next to the bed. That's messed up.
Octave comes to visit him. "Are you still depressed? You should get out and go to the gym, the beach, party with your friends, talk to your fans on Caray Caray. That will make you feel better." Larry announces he's getting married. Octave, skeptical, asks "To whom?" L--"It's a surprise!" O--"But you just got dumped! I've got enough problems in this house with your drippy brother and slutty sister. Don't you dare complicate things with your childish acts!" L--"Childish acts? I'm an adult, Mom!" O--"But you're acting like a child! Only a boy decides to get married within 24 hours of being left at the altar. And just who is this woman?" L--"She's 1000 times better than Pilar. It's a date--I'm getting married." ***Last I knew Gaby hadn't said yes. Mighty presumptuous, Larry***O--"Your siblings have gone crazy. What have I done to deserve kids like you?" Mommie Dearest leaves and Larry's eyes water again. Maybe he's just allergic to Fieras. He then he gives this faint smile to die for.
Back to the bar where Paco is talking to Fedora/Gaviota about Caramel's stupid idea to marry Pancho. F/G turns the conversation back to herself. Boring stuff about taking revenge on Octave and how Octave ruined her life. Same ol' same ol'. Paco says she'd better have a plan. F/G--"Don't you worry!"
Granny M is sewing and wondering if Diana's and Gaby's mother is still in jail.
Pancho is "getting familiar" with Caramel in the hotel room. Telling her all these lies about how much he loves her. Typical lines guys like him feed women like her. Caramel talks him into taking a little bath before they "do the deed." She'll be waiting for him naked. Pancho strips in record time and runs into the bathroom. Caramel gathers up all his clothing and walks out of the room, leaving him nothing but some towels and bedding for cover.
Bruno goes to see Marfil, who at first is sleeping after being drugged by Isabel. Bruno is sobbing and clutching Marfil's hand. Isabel tells Bruno that Bruno needs to tell the girls the truth that "you are..." Isabel never gets to finish her sentence. Bruno becomes furious. "NO!!! You are the only one who knows my secret. They can never know." Marfil wakes up and is happy to see Bruno. Lots of sappy, weepy greetings. Bruno's eyeliner is running. She needs to get a hold of the makeup people from Mundo de Fieras. MdF women NEVER have runny eye liner. The happy reunion is cut short when Marfil starts asking questions about where she is and why isn't she home with Max.
Diana is throwing herself a pity party with Granny M now. She wants to go back to the house and apologize to Marfil. Now that's a scene I would like to see. Granny is against that idea. Granny says it's not all Diana's fault. It takes two. . .
Max is now throwing his own pity party. He's sniveling that Diana can't marry Diego because she doesn't love him. "I can't be apart from you!" Drip, drip, drip.
Marfil becomes hysterical. Bruno tells her why she's at Isabel's house. It's because Debora took your place so Max wouldn't leave you. Bruno tries to calm her down and explain, but Marfil becomes even more agitated. Marfil says Debora is the worst person in the world. She starts screaming.
Pancho comes strutting his stuff out of the bathroom, ready for some action. Where's Caramel? Pancho then realizes his clothes are gone and so is Caramel. Caramel is at the bar gloating to Lorenzo about what she did to Pancho.
Diego is sitting on his patio pining away for Diana. Pancho calls and tell him Caramel stole his clothes and left him in a hotel room. "Not my problem" says Diego and hangs up. Gaby appears. Now Diego is whining to Gaby about Diana. Diego is pathetic. Cute, but pathetic. I digress. Anyway, Gaby is trying to make excuses for Diana's bad behavior by telling him you just can't control your heart. Diego is dejected. ***Why isn't someone setting him up with the servant Nancy? She loves him and they'd make a great couple!***
Max is sitting on his bed with a laptop dreamily saying, "Diana, Diana, Diana." There's a knock on the door and it's M/D. M/D wants to go away on a trip. Max starts stalling and making excuses. Work, promises, things to do. "I'll get better faster if we can go away," says M/D in her cloying, annoying voice. Max--"I'll think about it." M/D starts draping herself all over him saying how much she loves him.
Back to the real Marfil. Bruno is justifying why Debora is impersonating her. Marfil is getting increasingly hysterical. "You know Debora has always envied me." Bruno is still trying to make excuses and how sad Debora has been while Marfil has been in a coma. Marfil says, "You're lying! I order you to take me out of here. I want to see Max NOW!" B--"If you tell him the truth, we'll go to jail." M--"I don't care. The police would love to capture that thief!"
Lala calls Diana who is moping on the bed. Lala--"How are you feeling?" "Awful," says Diana. "How is Marfil doing?" L--"I don't know. She and Max are having a discussion." D--"About what?" L--"I don't know." D--"I hope I haven't caused more problems. Max came to see me today." L--"He came to your house after everything that happened?" Diana (dreamily) "Yes, he said he loves me." L--"What did you say?" D--"Nothing. I kinda said I was marrying your son, Diego." L--"How could you do that to my poor, sweet Diego? He must feel so bad." D--"I'm so sorry." etc. etc. Lala reminds her that Max will never leave Marfil. She also states she wishes Diana would hook up with Diego. Diana says she wishes she could, but her heart tells her no. ***Lala, why would you want your son to marry a woman such as this?***
Marfil is yelling at Bruno saying Debora will never let her get her life back. "Debora is a viper." Bruno tells Marfil too bad--"I won't let you ruin everything!" Marfil gets louder and louder, "Max, save me!" Isabel comes in and tells them to keep the volume down or the neighbors will call the police. Marfil yells, "That's what I want! I want the police to come!" Things escalate to the point that Isabel gives Marfil a tabby tamer in her IV to shut her up. Bruno starts sobbing as Marfil is drugged into submission.

Acorralada #19 Thursday 2/8 In which somebody gets a wakeup call--and Octavia has the day off
Lala is telling Diana to forget Max. But Diana says it’s impossible. Lala says look for good qualities you see in other men. Marry my son Diego . . . What’s wrong? He loves you so much. But I don’t love him. But loves comes little by little, with patience. Diego will conquer your heart. And there’s a barrier between you and Max. Think about it.
Larry is kissing Gaby. Why did you kiss me? Gaby, you love me, right? I need a woman who will show true love, a woman who will show me how to forget Pilar.
But you have never looked at me, never looked me in the eye. Your eyes are beautiful, pity they are always hidden behind those glasses. Don’t cover your eyes, Gab. Get out of here senor, please, it’s not right that you kissed me.
Gaby if you give me the peace and the love I need, you will fill the space left by Pilar. But I am a simple servant. You conquer all the other women. But they are all cold. They don’t value love, you are different.
Max tells D/M that he is going to the factory. No, stay with me. Octavia would be happy if you did that. But I don’t know how to treat you. You must do the therapy with Diana.
Camila goes to an office where Andre is. They are talking about the Diana situation. He offers to help her get rid of the nurse. I will give you and Max’s wife a way to get this woman out of your lives. You only have to get me the money to see them
Diana is working on M/D’s leg. M/D kicks Diana and says she is too rough. Diana says she must give the therapy energetically. M/D says, I’m not interested in your explanations . Diana leaves.
Cut to the little house. Nurse Isabel is sweeping around the bed of sleeping Marfil. You’ve been sleeping so long. You married a millionaire, but you look like a statue. Money doesn’t give happiness. Then there’s your twin sister, as pretty as you. While she is talking with her back to Marfil, you see Marfil open her eyes suddenly. Nurse doesn’t see. Folks, there is only one way to describe this—it’s the same way the zombies jerk themselves awake in “Night of the Living Dead." Isabel continues sweeping, oblivious to the drama behind her.
Camila says she has no money, tell me now and I’ll pay you later. No, doll, I’m not doing that. You are a lion with big sharp claws. Pay me and Ill give you the complete film. The secret that will get the nurse fired and out of Max’s life. When he knows who she really is . . . Okay I will get money. He says $20,000. She says too much. He says $20,000 or no secret.
Granny DS: Cries to Diana that she isn’t around much any more since she has been taking care of Marfil. Diana apologizes but says she has to take care of Marfil. Dona Santa insists that Marfil can walk—that she saw it herself. No one believes me because they think I’m crazy. Diana leaves room. Granny DS talks to her doll: I have seen it--she can walk.
Isabel is still sweeping. I wouldn’t give my poverty for your state. I prefer to be poor and healthy than lying in a bed like this. Marfil shouts: Who are you. Oh my god. You woke up.
Larry is still splayed on bed, Same position but different outfit. Aunt Yolanda at door.. How are you? Filler dialogue. I am an idiot, auntie. I swear. I loved a woman who didn’t love me., She was cheating on me with another, they were laughing at me all the time. Don’t torment yourself. Forget it. It’s easy to say, but what do I do? You need another girl by your side who supports you. Find another girl. Exit auntie. The camera always seems to unnecessarily follow auntie's exits and entrances, which serves to accentuate their filler nature.
Larry thought bubbles: Can Gaby be the one to help me forget? Camera pulls back. Larry reclining in Calvin Klein underwear pose again.
Diana is complaining to Max. Your wife is not applying herself to the therapy. Why is she acting this way? I think she realizes your intentions, Diana opines astutely.
Camila pops in. Looking for Marfil in her room. Marfil is in room complaining that she is trapped inside. Hears knock on door and has to get in position at walker quickly. Who’s there? Camila says don’t worry, our alliance against the nurse is going to bear fruit.
Back to Real Marfil. Why can’t I move. Where is my husband. I remember the party. I fell in the pool. Where is my husband? What place is this. Who are you? Whose bedroom is this?
I am a nurse. They took away my license because of malpractice, but Bruna and another woman are paying me to take care of you. You have been sleeping two years with a cerebral contusion. Two years sleeping? Who is this other woman? One who is equal to you. Your twin sister. Real Marfil is impactada.
Camila is telling M/D that as soon as they get the money they can get the secret to get rid of Diana forever. There’s a chauffeur, Andres. Who? Where did you meet him? Marfil, it doesn’t matter, this guy is the one who has what we need to take down the nurse. He knows a dark secret that will serve to get her out of here and for Max to despise her. How does the chauffeur know? He’s a cretin and won’t tell us unless he gets $20,000. Where are we going to get that? I can’t ask Max. We can’t justify such a big cost, but only if we pay it, he will tell us the big secret. It seems D/M realizes it’s her ex. But she will stick with the unholy alliance.
Gaby is in the kitchen with a big cabbage. Here comes Larry. Maybe he finally wants to eat. No. He has other things on his mind. You love me, right. Would you marry me? What?
Back to Real Marfil. I need to speak to Bruna and my husband. Why have they left me here in your care? I need answers. Is it true I have been here two years unconscious?
Why I am hidden here? Just a minute. It’s true they took my nursing license, but it’s not me who hid you here. I want to see my family. Max, get me out of here. Quiet, the neighbors will think I am doing something bad.
Max! Bruna! No, little girl, you are having an attack of nerves. Real Marfil keeps shouting for Max. Stop shouting, you crazy one. You want the police to come? Brandishes a large needle. Puts it into Real Marfil’s IV tube. With this you will sleep until Bruna comes. No, don’t inject me. Stop shouting, you crazy ingrate. She gives the medicine.
D/M says that $20,000 is impossible, but Camila insists it’s the only way. Enter Bruno. She says Max just came back, and he’s in the library with the nurse. D/M says, Hurry Camila—helps me down the stairs. We must keep them from spending any time together.
Diana is saying how Marfil has changed radically. She used to treat me well. Don’at feel bad. She has always suffered from mood swings. It is something more than that. She hates me. We must be apart. But that should not be. We are condemned to love each other and be separated always. Cue sappy music. Cue sappy looks from the Drip. I can’t come between you and your wife. Suelteme. Don’t touch me. Max begs: Just give me one kiss to remember. Leans in slowly for kiss.
Someone’s in the kitchen with Larry. Oh, yes, it’s Gaby. Larry is still begging her to marry him. Boy, the men on this show really are quick with the marriage proposals. She calls him crazy. I must try to forget Pilar with you. (There’s a proposal that will get to a girl’s heart.) Gaby tells him she cannot marry him because he doesn’t love her. He says he will come to love her more than Pilar. No. Your mother will never accept me, as I’m a simply servant. Larry insists mother has no right to give her opinion.
Back at bar. Gaviota is sewing a costume. Lorenzo brings an empty coffee cup. She tilts it to her lips and pretends to drink. Amazingly, none of her exceedingly bright red lipstick ends up on the cup. Lorenzo says she doesn’t want to come out all day. She says she spent many years in a cell even smaller. He says they have done a lot of damage to her. The worst, she says, is that they took her children. She must avenge herself on the Irazabals. Lorenzo says the children can be living. She must look for them. Who knows where Octavia took them with the help of her accomplices, but I don’t believe that this woman is so despicable as to kill innocents. I believe you will find them. I want to find them. This is the big objective of my life.
Diana is trying to push Max away. Please give me a kiss. You love me –I can see it in your eyes. I see in your lips that you want to ask for my kisses. (This is so sappy, it’s like a bad romance novel.) She says it’s a horrible sin. He says that it’s a sin of love. They kiss. Of course, just then Camila and D/M walk in. Didn’t they lock the door? No, they never do that on this show.
Larry tells Gaby she doesn’t have to answer today, but tomorrow is okay. Go home and think about it. Take the rest of the day off. But what about Octavia? If Mom says something, I’ll tell her what happened. Please give me an answer tomorrow. And please be positive, I need you.
On the beach, Pancho is fresh off his own spontaneous marriage proposal, so of course the appropriate action is to put the moves on Paola. She says it’s dangerous for me to be with you. You have that savage beast of a girl friend. You’re macho. You like having two women fight over you. They start kissing. He is lying on top of her on the beach. Cue the reggaeton.
D/M asks why are you kissing this zorra (slut)? Camila chimes in. Max says shut up, Camila—since when are you on Marfil’s side. Well, I’m her friend, and this looks like a dirty trick. D/M says that yes, Camila and I can be friends. You must get this slug out of the house now. Camila and Diana go out. D/M traps Max with her walker.
Outside the room, Camila pulls Diana’s hair. You are a husband stealer. You pretend to be very modest, but in reality you are a cualquiera (another word for floozy). Hey, wasn't Camila stealing Max herself? Whatever. Just then Bruno comes down the stairs. What’s going on? Camila says Diana was kissing Max. Let’s get her out of the house. They drag her out and throw her on the ground. Then they say get up. Diana is crying. Gaby comes out dressed to go home. What happened. Please take me home. Senora Marfil saw us kissing.
Bruno, gloating, brushes her hands together as if to get rid of the imaginary dust of Diana. She gone for good. Camila says I don’t think it’s for good, but at least for the moment. Yolanda comes down stairs. What happened? Marfil found Max kissing the nurse. Now Larry comes in too. Bruno and I throw her out in the street.
Back in the bedroom, D/M is asking Max why he’s cheating on her with the nurse.
Please Marfil, lower your voice. We'll fix our own problems without bringing in the whole family. No, too late. Here come the other four. Yolanda asks, Max, is it true you were kissing Diana? Of course it’s true, Camila says. Max tells Camila to get out. You have no reason to be here. Throw her out, Larry. Larry picks her up and carries her out of the room. There’s a lot of assault and battery in this episode.
Max tells Bruno to disappear also.
Alone again, D/M complains that he is betraying her. He says that when she stops carrying on like a hysteric they can talk. D/M falls down!
More kissing on beach. Pancho says no one’s home at his place and they should go home and make mischief. Paola says you really believe that I want to sleep with you when I just met you? You gave me kisses. That’s different. I see you really like to play with the men. You’re just fooling around. She says kissing mean nothing. You have a girlfriend who’s so jealous. You are not serious. Back on the offensive defensive, Pancho rejoinders you’re stupid, do you think I would go with a society girl. That would be the height of stupidity. A girl who kisses the first person who comes along. You don’t interest me. She says—you were just dying of hunger, and now nothing? It’s the truth, because you are not the type I can take seriously. I would be crazy to change my Caramelo for you. He storms away. She says, that bland girl doesn’t even come up to my ankles. (I guess that’s the same as she can’t fill my shoes or something.)
Back at the little house, Real Marfil still frantic. Isabel calls Bruno at the mansion, and Bruno picks up the phone, naturally. You must come right away. Marfil woke up. Bruno is impactada. Larry and Yolanda look confused.
Max is giving smelling salts to D/M. She threatens to kill herself if he keeps the nurse around. He promises not to and gives her a nice brotherly kiss on the head. Max looks anguished, and D/M gives another one of her sly looks that she does when no one can see her face.
Bruno says to the phone that she will come right away. Who was that, asks Larry. An old friend. Since when do the servants use the telephone in the house for personal calls. Bruno apologizes. It won’t happen again, permiso.
D/M still crying about Diana. Bruno comes in. She says the nurse is gone, I have personally done it. D/M says swear that she won’t come back. Swear or I’ll die. Okay, I swear. Diana will not come back in this houue Thank you my love. Max looks upset. But leaves.
Diana and Gaby are talking to Granny. They found us kissing. Oh, you shouldn’t have done that. (Wait till she hears about Larry’s proposal.) Gaby says Diana can never return to the Irazabal mansion. (Didn’t that just happen last week? That’s when she got the one-day job with the Grabass family. She’s like Candide. Where will she work next?)
Back in the bedroom, D/M is crowing to Bruno about her Academy Award level performance. “Hollywood lost out on me, because that was one of the best performances of all time.” Max was very much impressed with my tears. Bruno cuts short the kudos: Listen, there’s something you must know. It’s your twin—she returned to life. Impactada.
Granny tells Diana she will prepare un tilo to calm her nerves. Knock at door. It’s Max. Tells Diana he knows she can’t come back to the mansion, but if she says the word, he’ll divorce Marfil. What a guy. Just then Diego walks in. Diana says, no, forget me. But I love you with all my heart. Diego says leave her alone. What right do you have? Diana says he has all the right in the world—because he is my boyfriend!
