QE Monday November 17 - Greta, please just jump off the bridge already

I’m writing this around noon on Sunday, I sure hope that Tontas has episodes all over youtube like this show did. It saved me. I have my monthly evening meeting tomorrow and as usual I forgot to find a substitute. Thank you youtube. If anyone finds Tontas on youtube, please post the link as a topic or in our comments. I think more and more of us are watching episodes online when we miss them at home.

Sara and Bruno have set the stage for Fafy to get in a car accident. I’m sure CSI would solve the crime in 10 minutes, but crime pays in novela-world. Fafy starts his car, fluid leaks out the bottom onto the pavement. Grissom would notice this, then find the knife that cut the line and match up the grooves. Bruno and Sara agree to keep up their normal routing to throw off the cops.

Alonso talks to Lorena on the phone, Alonso wants to pour his heart out. Lorena doesn’t want to hear it just yet, neither does Valeria, who walked into Alonso’s office and overheard. He does get Lorena to agree to meet up later. Alonso the dunce then tells Valeria all about how he is going to win Lorena again. He even asks her for advice. She looks like she wants to throw up but being the awesome doctor that he is, Alonso doesn’t notice. This reminds me of Pamela in Heridas de Amor. She was ten times hotter than any of the other women on the show but was relegated to backup/loser status. Valeria deserves better.

Jimena tries to drive the wedge a bit further, telling Ern that evidence points to Lorena preferring Alonso to him.

Valeria tells Alonso why he’s so awesome and he again doesn’t see that she’s pining for him. They move on to business. They discuss a colonoscopy. How romantic. Alonso drops the friend zone curse on Valeria some more and gives her a kiss on the cheek. Her reaction leaves no doubt as to how she feels but Alonso is stupid.

Ern wants to figure out how to get in with Lorena again.

Jorge shows up to talk to Bettina. I hate this kid.

Felipe shows up with gifts for Saulito. He is trying to come on stronger but it is too strong. Diana is obviously not interested.

Jorge tries to sweet talk Bettina, but she smartly and rightly calls him out as a dog, hitting on his best friend’s girl. I thought she had a better memory than this – Ivan told her specifically that it was Jorge who said love letters were stupid and then Jorge himself wrote one. She has shown herself to be much smarter than that, I hope she remembers soon. If nothing else she should realize this kid is creepy and should rat him out to Ivan. And yes I’m groaning because my baby girl is due in a couple months and some day I’m going to have to fight little rat finks like this kid away from the house.

Vasco and Paty make up from their disagreement the night before, but then Vasco sees Felipe and Diana together. Paty thinks it makes htem almost married, Vasco of course seems to still be in love with Diana.

Oh I really hate this Jorge kid now – I will have to go to dialogue style so this isn’t a paragraph of “he said he and she and he said he” stuff.
Jorge – I only came over here because Ivan said you were broken up already.
Bettina – No, we’re just in a fight.
Jorge – Ivan told me you guys were broken up, not just fighting
Bettina – He said that?
Jorge – it’s about that card he would write, right?
Bettina – none of your beeswax, and your hair looks stupid (ok it was me who said the hair part)
Jorge – yeah I was with him when he wouldn’t write that letter to you, he didn’t write it for you on purpose, to start a fight.
Bettina – it was just an excuse to make us break up?
Jorge – Yeah, well, you’re too little girly for him, he wants someone more mature.
Bettina – I don’t believe you. And you shouldn’t have come here and said all this.
Jorge – Hey open your eyes, Ivan doesn’t want you any more.
Bettina – I don’t want to hear this, get out and take your stupid hair with you.
Jorge says something that sounded like calling her stupid and leaves the room. Loser. I hope Bettina does what normal people would do, and calls Ivan right away to clarify. The whole thing could be resolved in minutes and stupid hair Jorge could be sent packing, but I’m sure they will fight until the Gran Final (which was just announced as being on Friday Nov 28, the day after Thanksgiving).

Diana says thanks to Felipe for the gift, but seems like she wants him to leave. Paty and Vasco arrive, Paty makes sure to lay a big kiss on Vasco to mark her territory. Vasco asks to go inside and see Zulema, Diana follows him in, leaving Paty and Felipe outside. Felipe is upset because nothing he is doing is working with Diana, he thinks she’s still in love with Vasco. Paty tells him to keep trying, harder and harder, obviously not caring if he succeeds as long as it keeps her away from Vasco. Paty even gets mad at Felipe for wanting to throw in the towel. In the end Felipe says forget it. Paty looks pissed.

Stupid hair Jorge runs into Ivan out on the street outside Bettina’s house and makes me hate him more. He tells Ivan he was there because Bettina found HIM in the chatroom online and invited HIM over and wants to go out with him. He claims to have shot her down because of his friendship with Ivan. Ivan says he’s here to apologize for not writing the love letter. Jorge says don’t bother and leads him away. Come on Ivan! I don’t want 8 days of this.

Vasco acts a little jealous about Felipe, on the inside Diana exults. They make small talk back and forth while each thought bubbling how much they want each other if the other one would only make a move. Vasco accepts a cup of coffee and they look dopey at each other.

Sara is in the office and gets a call on her cell phone looking for Fafy. She says she doesn’t know where he is. After hanging up, she realizes that being at work on a Sunday will make her look quite suspicious, so she decides to leave. Out in the hall, someone sneaks up behind her and grabs her, covering her mouth. Snap her neck! Oh no, it’s just Fafy. He came to get her. Why did he grab her that way? He wants her to go shopping with him. Of course she doesn’t want to get into the car. Fafy tells her that before he left the house, Santiago showed up and wanted to be his caddy, so they came in Santiago’s car. They stopped off to look at some horrible beast of a car from the 70s. I think Santiago wants to buy it and wants Fafy to check it out. Something happened, there was an accident or something, somehow in all this his golf clubs got ruined and now he needs to buy some new ones. Sara wants to be anywhere but getting into this car, dripping brake fluid or whatever all over the pavement.

Lorena meets up with Alonso at the mall, he cluelessly starts in on her again about how much he loooooves her and she’s getting tired of it. She shuts him down again. But of course she keeps doing that smiley so obviously flattered thing she does, so why she expects him to stop I have no idea. Probably the same reason all the pretty girls do that, no matter how much they torture someone, they are gluttons for attention.

Bettina is looking at her e-mail and stressing. Paula wants to know what’s up, Bettina fills her in – Ivan’s friend is after her, now he sent her an e-mail saying the same thing, yes he knows about Ivan but doesn’t seem to care. She tells Paula that supposedly Ivan thinks she’s immature, Paula says Bettina is more mature than she herself is! Paula tells her to be careful, this kid sounds like bad news.

Alonso must be whipped, because he is willingly following Lorena around while she looks at clothes. I guess Lorena is trying to find something for Zulema. Alonso buys her a scarf, pushing his agenda all the while. Leaving the store, Lorena asks what he needs to shop for now. He makes up something stupid, she figures out he just came to see her and he admits it. Man is she dumb. She thinks a guy who is totally in love with her will actually, voluntarily, not act on it. Yeah right. She agrees to having coffee.

Sara is aiming a gun at Fafy in the sporting goods store, wishing he would invite her to a safari so she could shoot him. Bruno calls and Sara fills him in on Santiago saving Fafy by accident. Turns out the store doesn’t have golf clubs. The lady at the store calls Sara Fafy’s daughter, Sara loudly says she isn’t his daughter and Fafy says she’s his girlfriend. Then Sara for some reason gets mad at Fafy for saying that. ??? She gets mad at being called daughter, then mad at him for saying she’s his girlfriend. Nope, still doesn’t make sense. Perhaps she’s coming unglued.

Alonso and Lorena have some cold drink that is clear and certainly not coffee. He tries to talk love with her again and she tells him to knock it off. AGAIN. Sara and Fafy take a table near them. Alonso sees and tells Lorena to casually look around, which she does. The ‘look casual’ part is pointless, as Sara has spotted them and is just staring her evil glare. Fafy is trying to talk her down from her anger in the store, Sara just fumes about Lorena being there with Alonso. She is cursing Lorena, Fafy thinks she’s cussing about the woman at the store. Alonso and Lorena STARE at them as Fafy plants a kiss on Sara. I was waiting for them to say ‘EWWWWWWWWW!!!’ like I did, but no. Sara is humiliated. She stares at them some more. Lorena and Alonso decide they don’t have to leave just because Sara showed up. Sure you don’t HAVE to but I think I would anyway.

Ern is grocery shopping and is accosted by a heavy woman who wants to tell him how handsome he is. The lady is sure that he and Lorena are in love with each other, they can tell from seeing them on TV. Ern denies it all and says they hate each other. He keeps looking over his shoulder, as the worst detective in the entire world pretends to shop behind him. Wearing a long coat and hat in the middle of the same store where everyone else is wearing short sleeves. He’s nervous about being caught by THIS guy? Give me a break.

Alonso and Lorena watch Sara and can’t believe who she’s with. Sara is just dying from embarrassment.

Ern runs into Maruja and Rosy, he whispers about the detective and Rosy and Maruja launch into a loud attack on him about the horrible things he did to Lorena. On his way past them, he winks and whispers ‘thank you’. For good measure, Rosy yells “Maldito!” after him as he walks away. Then she and Maruja laugh and give each other a high five. Funny scene.

Sara continues to fume. She wants to leave. Fafy says he’s going to the bathroom, he doesn’t want to leave. I have to say that I am sick to death of seeing Sara’s face. I’m tired of it. All she does is gripe and curse. Alonso gets the bright idea for he and Lorena to act like they are together, to torture Sara. Yeah Alonso I see where you’re going with this and I have to say GREAT move. Lorena totally falls for it (as I said before she can be stupid). Alonso wastes no time cuddling up and planting a big kiss on Lorena. Well played Alonso, well played. Excellently played. When Lorena backs off she tells him that she is going to smack the hell out of him once Sara isn’t watching. Alonso says “it was to convince her!” Lorena of course doesn’t believe it, but then smiles at him like you’d smile at a kid who did something bad but backed it up with good logic. And she wonders why Alonso keeps trying. When you keep rewarding him, Lorena, he’s going to keep coming back for more. DUH.

Greta is getting drunk, Jimena on her end of the phone call talks loudly about Lorena in earshot of Ern’s kids, how Lorena is now with Alonso, apparently. The kids scowl. What an evil woman. Back on her end, Greta whines about Omar. Blech.

Alonso flirts with Lorena, who is trying to be tough with him. She’s not selling it very well. Alonso doesn’t care, he tells her he loves her a few times. Fafy comes back to his table, he can tell Sara is having some issue with Lorena and Alonso at the other table. I might even think that Fafy is getting the tiniest bit tired of Sara. She claims to not be staring at the other table, Fafy tells her he’s not stupid, don’t treat him as if he is. He wants to know what’s up with those two at the other table. She finally spins some story about Lorena being her sister who betrayed her so horribly! Lorena and Alonso decide to leave, they walk past Sara grinning right at her and laughing. Heh. Nice one. Outside the food court, Lorena tries to act mad at Alonso but he isn’t having it. She pushes him off a bit, he doesn’t take it well and acts pouty. He claims AGAIN that he won’t push any more. He also says he isn’t going to pretend with Sara any more since he thought she was all alone but here she is with her lover. He’s staying away from her completely. Good call Alonso. Wow how many times have I congratulated Alonso on a good move or decision today? I just realized. Wow.

Sara continues her tale of woe to Fafy, who tries to act like he cares but fails. He gets the same look that he gets when Santiago won’t shut up. He says she left, let’s move on. Sara won’t move on. She wants to cry and whine some more. Fafy rightfully says wtf, you have everything you want now, get over it! He says losers stay hung up on the past, winners move forward. She promises to move on, totally lying.

Hortensia visits Omar in his bachelor pad, which looks very depressing. Hort reminds him that it was his cheating before the coma that is the problem, not what happened later. We all agree I think. He beats himself up a bit over what he did.

Jimena wants to send Greta to rehab. She needs it. Who is watching her kid while she drinks and cries? Jimena tells Greta that of course Omar bailed after the scenes Greta made with his family. Greta cries over her lost friends. Jimena says that they weren’t her true friends, but Greta says that they were. Yes they really were, Greta is the one who screwed it all up. She continues to whine about ending it all. Jimena tells her to shut up about that or she’s not coming over any more.

Rosy and Marjua tell Zulema about their adventure at the grocery store. They then discuss how much they all want to have sex with Ernesto. Well they talk about how much they want Lorena to choose Ern, but hearing them, Rosy and Maruja at least, they want a roll for themselves first, it sounds like. Zulema drops the news that Lorena is hanging out with Alonso. They think the balance is tipping towards Alonso. Zulema now wants to know what’s up with Rosy and Julian. Rosy accidently mentions the baby, Zulema says Lorena already told her, Rosy laments that nobody can keep a secret. They all smile and hug a lot.

Raimundo and Paula together visit with Toribio at Paula’s house. They all get along well. The Riamundo relationship seems to be going well.

Alonso visits with Bettina. She tells him about the boys. They both think that Jorge is up to no good. Bettina wants to discuss it with Ivan but she doesn’t want to go to him to ask. Alonso advises her to find him and talk it out.

Raimundo says goodbye and timidly kisses Paula. Toribio turns around so they can kiss properly. After he leaves, Toribio says his instinct is that Rai is loco – loco in love with Paula. Ha ha ha oh Toribio you card. Paula says she’s all fluttery for Raimundo. Toribio is happy to see Paula happy and says soon Alonso will be back with Lorena and all will be well.

Lorena gives Zulema the new clothes she bought for her, with help from Diana. She tells Zulema how Alonso won’t shut up about loving her. Zulema says Alonso is like that, just like Felipe with Diana. Diana says Felipe’s nice, but…. Lorena says “yeah he isn’t Vasco.” Diana agrees without actually agreeing and changes the subject. Zulema manages to accidently tell Diana that Rosy is pregnant. Now everyone knows except for Julian. Which is totally not fair but I guess I understand. Lorena worries for a bit about Sara.

Sara wakes up calling ‘Alonso’. Bruno comes in saying Fafy drove off in the car. For some reason Sara is worried, but Bruno is happy about it. Bruno is ready to celebrate right here and now. Sara is very worried, I guess about getting caught.

Ern plays with a video camera in the kitchen.

Sara shows up at Alonso’s house and yells at him for lying to her. Alonso calls out her lies right back.

Bruno calls Sara and tells her voicemail that he’s at the office, where is she? He barges into Sara’s office and finds Fafy there. Fafy asks him, “what are you doing here at my company, Bruno?” Great question.

Preview – Ern uses the video camera to catch Sara admitting something, Fafy figures out that Sara is bad news.

El Cuerpo del Deseo, - Thurs. & Fri.,Nov. 13 & 14 - Antonio realizes the truth and can't deal with it; others are getting close

PJ/S is concerned that Valeria thinks badly of him. She won't commit herself but it's pretty clear that PJ/S has lost his luster for her.

Angela goes to talk to Antonio but it doesn't go well. He is jealous because Angela spends so much time with PJ/S. Angela says that if she hasn't proved her love for him, maybe they should split up and then she caps it off by saying that PJ/S was right that Antonio is immature.

PJ/S tells Gaetana if PJ/S doesn't shape up, he'll be forced to separate him from his daughter. Gaetana warns him to be careful but PJ/S says that he didn't come back in vain. He is obligated to defend the rights of his daughter.

Antonio has more doubts about PJ/S when the handwriting expert tells him that the two book inscriptions were made by the same person.

Walter is having a drink with Rebeca and he has a long flashback to when PJ/S blackmailed him into confessing that he stole the bracelet. In fact, he flashes back to a lot more than we saw at the time it happened (Oct. 31). Maybe the scene was cut on the rebroadcast.

PJ/S takes a shower and changes after work before going down to the bar. He was just looking at himself in a full-length mirror. What is he looking at now? Another mirror? a clock?

Antonio decides that he needs to go see Gaetana and he borrows Simón's motorcycle. Who should he see when he arrives but PJ/S.

PJ/S talks to Antonio. Antonio says that the most logical explanation is that PJ/S and Gaetana are extortionists who are taking advantage of the situation at the Donoso house. PJ/S says that it is a good possibility and if he tells people that, they'll believe him. He asks if Antonio is going to tell everyone that.

Antonio says that he doesn't believe PJ/S and Gaetana are swindlers. He believes that there is no explanation other than that Salvador is PJ come back from the dead and he is terrified of him. Antonio runs out of the house, jumps on his motorcycle and roars off with PJ/S in pursuit in Gaetana's car. Chasing Antonio, PJ/S wonders what they are going to do now.

They say that people are more likely to get into auto accidents when they are mad or upset and so it happens with Antonio. Brooding about his problems, he veers into oncoming traffic and loses control of the motorcycle.

Antonio isn't badly hurt though and he gets rejects PJ/S's offer of help, gets back on the motorcyle and takes off with PJ/S following.

Antonio collapses when he gets back to the house and PJ/S tells the night watchman to take him to his room. PJ/S drives back to Gaetana's. He swears that he doesn't want to hurt Antonio.

Meanwhile Antonio has turned in a zombie who only says things like, "He's not dead" and "Salvador isn't Salvador. He's someone else."

Tio Felipe gets a lead on finding Cantalicia's husband.

PJ/S goes to see Antonio. He assures Antonio that he can give him an explanation for what happened the previous night. Antonio is semi conscious and he says that Salvador doesn't exist and that PJ/S is Pedro Jose. PJ/S begs him not to say that.

Andrés asks why Walter is so afraid of PJ/S. He asks if PJ/S is blackmailing him and encourages Walter to tell him everything. Walter spins a tale of how he mistakenly got involved in a jewel robbery and was arrested. PJ got him a lawyer and he wasn't convicted of the crime. Walter says that PJ/S has the newspaper articles about his arrest. Andrés asks when this happened and Walter says that it was 18 years ago. Andrés wonders how PJ/S found out about it. Andrés tells Walter not to let PJ/S out of his sight. They have to find why he knows so much.

Isabel tells PJ/S to come to her room. Walter observes PJ/S going into Isabel's room. Isabel tells PJ/S that she knows he came back to the house with Antonio the previous night and if he doesn't tell her what happened, she will tell Abigail.

Cuidado-Friday 11/14/08 "Marichuy receives two offers which she's got to refuse. What will a poor girl do?"

We start with some leftovers from Wednesday’s episode…..Marichuy visiting Vicente and then going to see Rocio in the hospital. Isa and Stefania discuss her plans to use Mayita to make in roads with Juanmi….

Marichuy is in with the pre-op drugged Rocio. Marichuy is holding her hand and not saying much and Juan Miguel walks into the room. They stare at each other and the theme song plays in the background as we the audience realize they are pining for each other. MC gets up to leave and JM tells her that there is no need for her to run away from him. She says that’s not the case, she’s got to go to work. He brings up how she shouldn’t need to work with the maintenance she’s getting in the divorce. She tells him that she doesn’t want to take it. He insists that the law says she’s entitled to it, therefore she should take it. She’s adamant, she doesn’t want the money. Juanmi asks why not, does she want to end up out on the street again, with them one day having to call him to tell him she’s in jail. She retorts that believe it or not, if she were to spend the rest of her life behind bars, she would never let them bother JM with her plight.

Stefania tells Isa that she plans on talking to Onelia to get some more info to advance her “operation nab husband” plan into action. Isa is worried that Onelia is dangerous and she warns Stef to be careful with her. One mistake and Onelia will discover their plan. Stef doesn’t worry. However, Isa continues to still be afraid one wrong step and everything will fall apart. Stef assures her tia that it will all be okay. Isa says again that she doesn’t want their plan to be discovered, it would be the end for them both. Stef says both of us? Remember it was your plan all along. This obviously upsets Isa as she realizes that Stef will hang her out to dry to save her own skin. Stef changes the subject and brings up how Mayita says that Viviana is alive and that she’s talked to her.

Mayita finds out from Balbina that Cuate has gone back to living with Marichuy. She has a temper tantrum.

Juanmi tells Mari that they are acting like children and should behave like the adults that they are. They were married and MC is therefore provided a maintenance. She scoffs that what does the law know, they were only together for one night. Juanmi gets a dreamy look in his eyes and says that it was a night that was very special. MC is affected by his words, but she tells him that it may have been that for him, but she’s willing to forget it. He asks her if she’s sure, he’d like to repeat that one night a thousand times over, it was sweet and they were so happy. They stare into each other’s eyes and Cecilia comes to the door of the room but turns around immediately sensing she’d be interrupting something.

Viv is on a plane, heading back to Spain. She thinks over her plans to seduce Gustavo once she gets there and too bad for her friend Leticia. That’s life, she thinks.

Padre Anselmo discusses Marichuy with Adrian. PA encourages Adrian to give MC some space and let her sort out everything with Juanmi. Adrian says that she needs to stay away from him and she’ll never forgive him for what happened. PA says that in reality, nothing happened. Juanmi was intoxicated and hugged her and kissed her a little too forcefully, but that’s the extent of it. She was young and it left a terrible impression on her, but it should be something she can work through. Especially since JM is sorry for his aggression and having caused trauma to MC.

JM and MC draw into each other, nearly kissing, but Mari takes this as her time to back away and leave. Cece is hovering outside and she enters the room as MC is leaving. Alone with Juan, she asks him if the separation is a definite thing. JM says yes it is. Well, it didn’t seem that way to me when I got here- Cece states. They have things to work out, but that’s all, JM concludes. Cece adds that the attitude of both of them seemed like things aren’t over. She asks JM if he still cares for MC and he says yes, he does. Cece thinks what does this mean for Stef, who’s hell bent on winning Juanmi back.

Stef is over at the castle and she’s brought a teddy bear to Mayita, trying to bribe her. Mayita tells Stef about Cuate being taken away and how MC left everything else there, but took the dog. Stef says that’s because MC is bad.

Mari returns home and finds Cande collapsed at the kitchen table with beans spilled all around her. The neighbors gather and Padre Anselmo says that this is serious and Cande’s going to need to stay in the hospital. Coincidentally, it will be the same hospital where Rocio and Vicente are staying. They discuss how Cande’s been working too hard and that had to contribute to her collapsing.

Onelia and Stef plan on tossing out the things that Marichuy left behind. Stef is convinced that MC left them there as a future pretext for returning.

Vicente goes to see Rocio before her operation. She’s taken into the operating room and Vicente heads back to his room.

Cande gets admitted into the hospital and she tells Padre Anselmo that she’s never been sick before. He tells her that there’s a first time for everything. She worries about Marichuy. Cande wonders when she’ll get out of the hospital and PA tells her she’s got to stay there as long as the doctors order.

MC runs into Eduardo in the hospital corridor. He wonders what she’s doing there and she tells him that Cande’s been admitted. He finds out what room Cande’s in and then runs back to Juanmi and Cece and fills them in on the latest.

Cece decides she’s going to visit Cande. Meanwhile, PA decides he’s going to check on Rocio. The two pass each other in slo-mo in the corridor. Padre Anselmo does a double take when he sees Cece, but he keeps walking—it is like he can’t quite figure out where he knows this woman from, but he knows he recognizes her.

When Cece gets to Cande’s room, Mari doesn’t want to speak to her, but Cande insists that MC not be rude.

PA finds out that Rocio’s gone into the operating room. JM finds out more info on Cande’s condition from the priest. He tells PA that Mari refused her maintenance. PA says that’s not surprising. JM says well she’s going to need the money now, especially with Cande being sick. JM proposes that PA take the money and pass it onto MC, not telling her what part JM has in the whole arrangement. PA doesn’t agree, he assures JM that there are plenty of people in the barrio that care for MC and Cande, they’ll make sure the are cared for properly.

Cece offers to help Cande in anyway necessary. Marichuy tells her that they don’t need anything, so don’t worry. Cece says she’ll return soon to check back in on her. Cande says she hopes that she won’t be in the hospital too long and Cece says she hopes that too. MC tells Cande that she’ll be in there as long as the doctors tell her to be there. Cece leaves and Cande comments what a shame it was the way that Cece treated MC when she lived with them. MC says actually Cece was very nice to her, but she was hard pressed and had to believe Stef. Besides, it was Stef and the evil aunt that really made things terrible for MC. Cece always treated her like a real daughter, she just couldn’t side with her against Stef.

Juanmi and Padre Anselmo go to check on Cande. They almost pass Cece again in the corridor, but Cece sees the back of PA and there is a spark of recognition on her part. When Cece gets to Rocio’s room she gets some info from the chismoso Eduardo. He tells her that Padre Anselmo is a family friend and that Marichuy will not take a maintenance from Juanmi. Cece asks why they broke up, but Ed decides to hold his counsel and doesn’t tell Cece the details. Cece adds that she’s sorry to be nosy, but she really does care for MC, as if she were her daughter.

MC tends to Cande. She leaves the room and literally runs into Juanmi. He says he was coming to find out what’s going on with Cande. MC says don’t bother, she’s nothing to you. They argue a bit more about MC’s refusal to take the maintenance. Then MC faints and Juanmi catches her. He repeatedly asks, “what’s wrong mi amor?” She comes to and Juanmi continues to hold onto her. Stef walks up and catches them “embracing”. She demands to know what’s going on and JM tells her that Mari fainted. Stef mumbles that MC is an opportunist when they head back into Cande’s room. Stef heads in another direction, to find out news of Rocio and learns the operation is over and that JM’s sister is being brought back to her room.

In Cande’s room, Juan fusses over Mari. Telling her that she’s pale and checking her pulse. He says she should get checked out and suggests that MC consider having Ed take a look, he’s in the hospital now. Juan urges MC and Cande to come to him if they need anything. He insists that they give him a call. Neither looks like they’ll take him up on the offer. Stef comes in the room at this point and tells JM that Rocio is out of surgery. Cande learns that she’s the meddlesome Stef and has a few choice words for her. Stef leaves and JM tells Cande he’ll be back to check on them. Stef (out in the hall) tells Juanmi they need to hurry or Rocio will be waking up and wondering where Juan is. Cande and MC exchange a look, they’ve got Stef’s number. JM reluctantly heads out, trailing behind Stef.

When JM sees Rocio, she tries to talk. He tells her to not talk, but assures her that the surgery went well. She asks for Vicente and JM tells her that he’ll be along soon.

Cande asks MC if she’s doing any better. Mari starts to describe how she felt when she fainted. She says it is just like when she rode the roller coaster at Chapultepec Park. Her description seems to give Cande a bit of nausea and Cande wonders if what MC is describing is how pregnant women are supposed to feel. This leaves MC a little impactada, but Cande moves on and says that can’t be the case with you, there must be another reason you aren’t feeling well. Cande asks if MC ate an appropriate breakfast and they determine that with all the work she’s done, she needs to eat better. Cande urges MC to go see JM’s friend, as long as he’s in the building. Marichuy looks like this would be the last thing on earth she’d ever do.

Vicente goes to see Rocio and tells her not to speak, he’ll be there for her. She should just rest. Rocio ends up having quite the crowd with JM, Cece, Stef, Mercedes, Ed and Vicente all visiting. Cece says that she’ll leave and asks Stef if she’d like to go with her. Stef declines and says that she’ll remain with JM.

Cece goes to say goodbye to MC and Cande. She tells them to let her know if they need anything. MC makes some comment that I missed, but it had to do with what happened before when MC needed her. Cece apologizes and says that she doesn’t know who was right or wrong in what ever transpired between Stef and Marichuy, she just knows that she wishes MC would still be near her, because she’s like a daughter to her. She gestures as if to caress MC’s hair and leaves. MC is obviously affected by Cece’s words.

The next day Amador comes to visit MC early in the morning. She’s busy getting laundry done and Amador is once again telling her she’s working too hard and that he’d like her to act in his play (he just wants her on the casting couch, I have no doubt). She’s not interested and tells him to go. He reminds her that he can make her a star and he leaves his business card with her.

JM and Ed discuss Marichuy’s fainting the day before. JM says it has to do with the heavy load she’s carrying now that Cande’s sick.

Viv is back in Spain. She is greeted warmly by Leticia and, when Gustavo isn’t as receptive, Viv asks if he’s not happy to see her. He says she’s always welcome in their house. Viv lies about having problems with Juanmi and works it so that Leticia offers to let her stay a few month.

Marichuy heads out to do deliveries and she comments on the hard work involved in doing laundry. She accepts it as the lot of poor people. Afterward, she ends up going to visit Cande in the hospital and wants to give her the money. Cande insists MC keep it since it is from her hard work. MC tells her that it is clear now what she’s got to do, she’s got a plan for them to live without money problems.

Adrian accepts a letter for Marichuy. It is a summons from a tribunal. When MC returns home, he gives it to her and she speculates what it means.

Juanmi gets a similar letter. He opens it and takes off and goes to find Onelia. He demands to know “what is the meaning of this.” END OF EPISODE

Doña Bárbara - Thurs., Nov. 14 - You know things are bad when the only happy person is DB

Santos doesn't realize until Antonio tells him that Marisela and Lorenzo are going interpret his announcement that DB is his woman to mean that he will bring her to live at Altamira. Santos goes off to rectify this and Antonio is frustrated once again in his goal to tell Santos about his relationship with Cecilia. Santos tries to reason with Marisela and Lorenzo through their closed doors.

Meanwhile Cecilia returns to Altamira. When Antonio comes in, she slaps him. That was a short reconciliation. Cecilia tells him that Federica is pregnant. She says that she believed in him that he was telling the truth but if he was capable of deceiving her, he was capable of sleeping with Federica. He has made her look ridiculous by insisting that Federica give a urine sample and then have the pregnancy test turn out positive. Cecilia stalks off leaving Antonio impactado.

DB warns BP that he had better accept Santos as the boss at El Miedo and if anything, no matter how small, happens to Santos, BP will be dead and buried.

Poor Cecilia is having a really bad day. She finds Santos outside of Lorenzo's door and Santos tells her that Lorenzo and Marisela are packing to leave Altamira because Santos told them that he was in love with DB. Cecilia asks. "What the hell is going on with you men! Why do you do such bad things? Why do you have to get involved with evil, crazy women! Do men ever think, Santos? Why do they have brains, then? And you had to tell me this today? Not tomorrow? You couldn't tell me yesterday! Today! Today!" Confused by this outburst,

Santos asks what difference it makes. Cecilia says that it does make a difference because today is a horrible day and she can't break her heart twice in one day! Cecilia tells Santos that if Marisela and Lorenzo leave Altamira because of DB, she will leave too.

Melendez tells Chepo that he will give him a job working just for him.

Santos reassures Marisela, Lorenzo and Cecilia that he won't bring DB to Altamira. He announces that he will go live at El Miedo.

Santos tells Marisela, Lorenzo and Cecilia that he is responsible for his actions and if the makes a mistake, he is mature enough to be able to recognize his errors and not hide behind a bottle or blame his misfortunes on a woman. Lorenzo furiously attacks Santos but his dicky heart betrays him.

Federica is exultant that she is pregnant and wants revenge on Cecilia for embarassing her in front of the whole town. Josefa says that Federica was lucky to get the bun in the oven so opportunely. She asks who the father is and Federica says that it is one of the Altamira vaqueros.

Antonio tells this same group of sperm donors that he has lost the love of his life. He can't understand how Federica got pregnant. He was too drunk. And if not him, then who?

Marisela tells Cecilia that what happened to DB helped her get Santos. It made him feel sorry for her and now he he will go to live with her. Cecilia says that pity isn't the same as love and when Santos no longer feels sorry for DB, they will see what happens.

Santos goes to El Miedo. Eustaquia tell him that she is concerned about DB. She says that DB needs a lot of love and care to get over the humiliation of what happened. Santos says that he will provide it. Eustaquia hopes that Santos' love will make DB a normal person.

Santos tells DB that he has been fighting with everyone at Altamira because of her and that he has decided to come and live at El Miedo. DB is ecstatic.

After Santos leaves, DB makes Eustaquia help her get to her dressing table. She says that she has to look nice for Santos. He is the only thing keeping her alive.

Santos asks Marisela to give him a goodbye hug and to give him her good wishes but she refuses.

Eustaquia tells DB that from now on she has to be open and honest with Santos so he isn't driven away. DB promises that she will change. She says that Santos is preoccupied about leaving Altamira. She wants to get rid of that preoccupation so she tells Eustaquia to get Juan Primito to open up the wall where she keeps her money.

Santos takes his leave of Altamira. Marisela won't say goodbye but she watches him leave.

Santos arrives at El Miedo. He goes to see DB and finds two big boxes of money on her bed. In response to his asking what all this is, DB says that it is hers and now it is his as well. She got it out to make him happy. She wants him to know that now he is the master of everything that belongs to her. Santos replies that he doesn't want her money. He wants to love her. DB tells him to love her but to let her give him everything that it has cost her so much to accumulate, everything that she has fought for all her life. DB says that now she understands why she wanted all this, to be able to give it to a man who loves her like Santos does, who accepts her in spite of herself and in whom she can have total confidence. DB tells Santos that he didn't only save her from death, he saved her from a life without hope.

Now we find out why Genoveva was so angry when Carmelito came to see Gervasia. She was interested in Carmelito. Carmelito tells Genoveva that he is in love with Gervasia. She is upset. Carmelito says that she deserves someone better than him.

Melquiades is in the capital and finds where Melendez works.

DB tells Santos again that he is her lord and master. Everything she has is his. He has only to ask for what he wants. Santos says that if she really has changed and will do anything for him, he is asking her to return El Miedo to Lorenzo and Marisela. DB is impactada.

QE Friday 11/14 Where Sara Burs with ire, Fafy burns with desire and California burns to the ground

I’m sorry about the title, but I can’t ignore what is happening here. I woke up to an orange morning, and to a lot of ashes everywhere. I live to the west of one of the fires and last night I was seeing in the news how the wind kept on moving the fire in our direction. The rational part of me tells me that I have nothing to worry. I’m still at least 4 cities away from the freeway fire (That’s how they are calling the fire in the Corona, Yorbalinda, Anaheim Area), but the irrational part of my brain has already made an inventory of what I would take; cat, bird, turtle, pictures, important papers, lap top, clothes… you get the picture . Anyway it is sad to see so much loss, and having to actually realize what is REALY important has put me in a philosophical mood. I apologize again.

After the rant I present to you for your enjoyment QE. NOW COMPLETE.

Bruno kisses Sara and tries to make out but Sara is not in the mood. Ernesto is hiding in plain sight and realizes that Bruno is not gay. Bruno jokingly tells Sara that he is getting jealous because as of lately, she doesn’t want to do the vertical mambo with him. -Is the old man fulfilling all your needs? Sara is very mad and yells at him to stop bothering her. She tells him that she is fuming because of the humiliation she had to endure on Hortensia’s hands. Bruno tries to play it down but Sara won’t have any of it. She wants revenge and tells Bruno that she wanted to tell Hortensia that she had been the one that had poisoned all the bankers. Of course Ernesto hears this and is shocked, he leaves and doesn’t hear Bruno trying to knock some sense into Sara. He tells her that she should stop obsessing over Lorena, but she yells with all her strength that she can’t, Lorena and Co. have to pay. Bruno doesn’t understand and Sara calls him mediocre. He calls himself practical.

Ernesto has left the loving couple to themselves and thought bubbles (yes ladies and gens, he doesn’t think aloud, we actually got a real thought bubble) that Sara is a monster, she has her two lovers in the same house and Fafy doesn’t even suspects. His first thoughts after his shock wears out is to contact Lorena, she needs to know that Sara is responsible for the demise of “Banquetes Armendaris”

Back to Sara and Bruno. He is getting into his violent mood, he yells at her (again) to stop obsessing, she is risking everything with her attitude, the fact that she is in the will is meaningless unless Faffy dies. Sara yells back that she doesn’t care! All she wants is to destroy Lorena. Bruno wants to know what Lorena did to deserve such hate. -To be born! To be always perfect, to have everything that I want. Bruno says almost to himself -”Estas fregada” you are messed up. He realizes that Sara is mentally ill and tells her that she won’t do anything crazy at least until Fafy dies. Sara tells him that he is a nobody, he can’t tell her what to do. Bruno tells her that he is her conscience, and he’ll stop her from do it anything crazy. He then tells her that she is going apeshit “Estas hecha una energumena” (remember that one guys?) and remembers that she was the same when she lost Alonslow. -you are not thinking about going back with him do you? Sara cools down immediately, she doesn’t Bruno to know that she is talking to Alonslow, and just tells him that she doesn’t want to be reminded of him.

Its morning now over the fair city of Mexico and Valeria is just arriving to her house, she finds Alonslow sleeping in the couch with her little girl. He tells her that Analis had a nightmare and wanted to cuddle. Valeria is very thankful and tells him that now is her turn to cuddle him “Ahora me toca ami apapacharte” do you want to eat breakfast? He says that he is very hungry. (is it just me or the music in the background at the end of this scene is “Pescador de hombres” ? I don’t know the name in English, but it is a song that is used at chuch this is a link to a very modernized version of it. I know that it doesn’t have anything to do with La novela, but I thought it was odd)

Lorena tries to cheer Zulema up by bringing her breakfast, but she is still very upset for the Greta incident, Julian arrives home and tells them the good news about his new job as a sports comentarist. He Congratulations all around. He notices that Zulema is not happy and Lore and Diana tell him that Greta was there. He is fuming and wants to go to yell at Greta and Omar. Zulema puts him in his place and tells him that Omar is his father and he should respect him. Julian says that that man is not his father. Zulema tells him to stop it, her problems with Omar are only theirs (Zulema and Omar) and the kids should not interfere.

Alonslow and Valeria are cooking breakfast. Valeria comments on his cooking skills and he tells her that he learned from Lorena. Not what Valeria wanted to hear. He then changes the subject and tells her that she is a very strong and beautiful woman, he is sure that she’ll find somebody that will appreciate her. Valeria says that nobody will want her with her kids. Alonslow tells her that her kids are wonderful and any man would be happy to have her and her kids. The kids (that oddly enough have been reduce to just one kid) enter the kitchen. Analis asks Alonslow if he is staying with them. Valeria tells her that he has his house and he was just visiting. -Could you visit more often then? Alonslow says that he’ll be there more often. Smiles all around.

At the Hortensia-now-Sara-and Fafy’s house, Fafy wants “breakfast” Sara can’t understand where he gets his stamina. He tells her he is a vampire that is draining all her youth (Creepy, but wouldn’t it be fun if it was true?) Sara is not in the mood and he says he’ll forgive her just because he has a business meeting.

Jimena arrives at Ernesto’s house. He is kind of back to his old neurotic self and scolds her for taking to long in coming back. Jimena laughs it off and tells him that if she had known that he was going to be mean to her she wouldn’t have come back. He apologizes and asks her about Lorena. Jimena tells him that she told Lorena everything. Ernesto wants to know Lorena’s reaction. Jimena tells him that she wanted to know the name of the Dr. Ernesto tells her that the Dr. is Bruno Palma. As soon as he said the name he realizes that it might be Diana’s ex-husband. Jimena utilizes the change of subjectt and tells him that Alonslow was there. Ernesto tells her that he doesn’t care. Alonslow can do whatever he wants, he knows that Lorena won’t give into his antics. Jimena tells him that she is almost sure that Lorena loves Alonslow. They contained themselves because she was there, but Lorena almost jumped Alonslow on the spot. Ernesto looks conflicted and tells her that he has faith and he knows that Lorena loves him, besides “ojos que no ven Corazon que no siente” if my eyes don’t see it my heart doesn’t feel it. Jimena says that she tells him this things because she is his friend and doesn’t want to see him suffer. Ernesto thanks her for being such a loyal friend (if you only new Ernesto!) Jimena wants to know what he is doing next. He says that he’ll keep investigating until he finds hard evidence of Sara’s crimes.

Ivan is talking to his friend when they see Betina approaching. Ivan tells his friend that Betina is upset with him because he did not write the letter she wanted. The “Friend” tells him that Betina must be a spoiled brat and he should dump her. Ivan doesn’t want to talk about it and leaves. As soon as Ivan leaves, the friend calls Betina over and start putting the moves on her. Betina ignores him and leaves.

Paula and Ray are having breakfast, Ray got a huitlacoche omelet. Paula tastes it and declares it delicious! Ray asks her if she wants to go out with him. She says yes, but he needs to give her time. He says he’ll give her all the time in the world.

Julian sees Alonslow in the Living Room. He apologizes to Alonslow for the way he acted when his mom was on coma. Alonslow tells him that he understands and not to worry about it. Lorena offers Julian breakfast, but he says that he has something to do, he goes into another room. Diana and Hortensia arrive home and see Alonslow and Lorena. Lorena tells Hortensia that she has something to tell her.

Maruja visits Valeria, she tells her that she was worried about the kids because she couldn’t help her. Valeria tells her that Alonslow stayed with the kids. Maruja is relieved that he helped and tells Valeria that Alonslow must be a very good friend. Valeria then starts singing Alonslow’s praises. Maruja notices that Valeria is little too enthusiastic and asks her if she feels something else for Alonslow. Valeria breaks down and finally confesses that she is in love with Alonslow. Cara impactada de Maruja.

Julian is standing outside Rosi’s house, he wants to go in, but hesitates. Rosi comes out and sees him, they talk a few minutes awkwardly. Finally Rosi tells him that she has to leave. Julian wants to go with her, but she doesn’t allow it. She leaves and Julian just looks at her sadly.
Hortensia is incensed, she says that she knew that Sara had something to do with the poisoning of the bankers. She can’t believe that Sara would be so callous and risk so many people’s lives. Right then Lorena’s phone rings, it’s Jimena with the name of the Dr. It is Bruno Palma. Cara de impactada de Lorena.

Jimena is at Greta’s house. She says bye to Lorena and Greta walks in, she is ready to go out because she can’t stand to be in the house without Omar. Jimena tells her that she needs to get used to been alone because Omar is not coming back after the show she did at work. Greta tells Jimena that she is sure he is coming back and starts getting upset at Jimena. Jimena tells her that if Greta wants to be by herself she can leave too. Greta changes her tune and asks Jimena to forgive her and not to go because she doesn’t like to be alone.

Back to Lorena and Co. It is Diana’s turn to fume. She knew that Bruno liked Sara, of course they are together! They deserve each other both are vermin. Alonslow is worried because Sara is obsessed with Lorena, and he is sure that if she is daring show her face again she is planning something big. Cara de impactado all around. Zulema comes out, she says she is ready to go. Lorena tells everybody not to tell Zulema. Alonslow tells Zulema that she looks beautiful. Zulema beams.

Bruno is walking on the street when a car approaches, It’s Javivi and some friends he met in the club. He tells Bruno that he is now behaving like a real man he is ready to escape to New York with Bruno. Bruno tells him that he is going to talk to him like a man. He gives Javivi the “is not me it’s you” line. You are not my type, I don’t like you etc. Javivi cries and tries to hug him. The other two tell Bruno not to be mean to Javivi “No seas abusadora” Don’t be abusive, (They use the feminine, since Bruno is a man it should have been “no seas abusador” I just thought it was odd, I think they are doing this because they think that Bruno is gay) Bruno looks worried.

Zulema thanks Alonslow for thinking on her, it was a great idea. Lorena tells her that Alonslow is very caring and nice. Zulema tells her that he is just the man for her. Alonslow agrees. Lorena tells them to stop it or she’ll have to take a taxi home. Alonslow promises that he won’t say again that he loves her and wants to marry her and wants to have a thousand kids with her. Lorena just rolls her eyes.

Back to Bruno and Javivi. Javivi jumps on Bruno and tries to kiss him the friends start egging them to kiss. Bruno is able to push Javivi out. The friends tell Bruno not to hurt Javivi. Bruno tells them to mind their own business and calls one of them an idiot. They don’t like this and one of them holds Bruno while Javivi and the other take fighting stances. Bruno looks really worried now.

Zulema and Lorena are sitting at a park bench. She is very thankful because she has been given a second chance, she woke up to good things and to bad things. Lorena asks her if he thinks that she’ll ever be able to forgive Omar. Zulema says that not at this point, she is still hurting a lot. Alonslow comes back with gelatinas and tells them that they could rent a bike and give Zulema a ride. Zulema and Lorena think this is a great idea.

Maruja and Jaime are eating colchones Bimbo (at least they don’t stop to say how healthy and how delicious the bred is) Jaime tells Maruja that Omar quitted his job, and is wondering if maybe Omar could work with them. Maruja tells him that it is not a good idea because she thinks that Diana and Lorena won’t agree.

Felipe is trying to befriend Saulito but he is to hard with the kid. Diana looks apprehensively.
Patty is giving vasco a massage. He says that it feels very good. She kisses him and tells him that it feels better with kisses, he agrees. Patty tells him that she loves him and Vasco tells her that she enchants him. Patty wants to hear that he loves her too, but Vasco can’t lie to her, he tells her that he is not sure. Patty gets sad and tells him that she has to go. Vasco tries to stop her but can’t. Patty leaves.

Bruno is back at home with Sara nursing a black eye. Sara makes fun of him and Javivi’s friends. Bruno is so mad that he has decided to do the job on Fafy’s breaks tonight. He warns Sara not to go out with him tomorrow. Sara is very happy.

I guess it is now the next day Alonslow is in his office when Valeria comes in and tells him that she wanted to go out with him and her kids yesterday. He tells her that he couldn’t go because he went out with Lorena and Zulema. Valeria’s face tells us how she feels, but Alonslow is oblivious to this. He then tells Valeria tat he found out that Bruno was involved with the poisonings that bankrupted “Banquetes Armendaris” Cara impactada de Valeria.

Erenesto and Ivan are setting the table for breakfast. Ivan wants to know what is wrong Ernesto tells him that he is worried that Alonslow is gaining territory with Lorena because he can’t get close to her. He asks Ivan if maybe he could ask Betina what is he doing. Ivan tells him that he fought with Bettina because of a corny letter Ernesto tells Ivan that woman like romanticism and like details. Ivan finally gets it that he messed it up with Bettina. Gina and brother arrive and want to go out with Lorena. Ernesto tells them that they can’t go out with Lorena, but after breakfast they are going to a museum. They are all happy.

Bettina is in the chat room when somebody enter it. It is Jorge Ivan’s friend. He sends Bettina a letter where he declares his love. Bettina has mixed feelings.

Fafy is ready to go out. He asks Sara to go with him to play golf. Sara tells him that she has to go to the office, but she’ll see him later.

Sara calls Bruno. He wants to know if Fafy is dead, Sara tells him that no, but they can start countdown because when she left Fafy was about to leave. We see Fafy getting in his car and we hear Sara and Bruno in the background. Bruno says that it was very easy to fix the breaks. Sara says that she is ready to swim in money. Fafy turns on his car.

The end

Fuego en la Sangre, 11/14/08: Threats Made Good On and Promises Kept

Capítulo 138

[This is a long and complicated one, folks. So get yourself a copa and kick off your shoes…..]

While Sofia and her sisters are upstairs with the little girls from the orphanage, Gabi is in the office downstairs giving Fernando the run-down on Root’s visit. She explains that Root came to complain about not having helped her mother keep their hacienda out of the Reyes brothers’ hands and mentions that Root and Eva have already run into each other. The good thing is that she’s leaving because she just received a telegram telling her that her daddy had an accident. The bad thing is that before Root leaves, she comes in to the office to say good-bye and drops a small bombshell aimed specially at Gabi: “Oh, didn’t your hubby tell you how we met? He walked into the bathroom and saw me…just the way God brought me into the world. Oops!! Well, bye! See you all when I get back!” Root’s out the door like a flash.

Wehehehelll! Gabi turns around fit to be tied. Fernando does some quick mea culpas over not realizing Root was in “his room” and … yada, yada even though the lying pervert actually stood there and leered at her. (Good thing about Root is she was not intimidated and at least gave as good as she got.) Gabi shuts him down in 2 seconds flat. She reminds him not to forget they’re married and emphasizes that he has a bedroom—and it’s THEIR bedroom. He tries to smooch her out of her bad mood, but no need ‘cause they got bigger fish to fry: Juan Reyes is investigating the backgrounds of the three little girls from the orphanage who are now upstairs in Sarita’s room. Sofia got permission to have them stay for a sleep-over. “Do you realize the danger we are in now?” Feo is impactado and needs a moment to absorb this little tidbit.

Upstairs, meanwhile, both Augie and Sofia are cooing over the little girls. Sofia says she plans to have them over as often as the mother superior will let them. Augie goes to get some of his age-appropriate toys for them.

Across the way at the Double R (Hacienda de los Robles-Reyes), Juan is in the kitchen with Eva telling her that although he hasn’t said anything to Sofia yet, he feels that each time he’s nearer to finding his daughter. Something inside of him tells him he’s getting closer and closer to the truth and that one of the three little girls he and Sofia have been visiting at the orphanage is his. The dates of their delivery to the orphanage and their ages all point to one of them being theirs. He says he’s going to be like white on rice with Fernando and pressure him till he makes a mistake and that’s when he’ll stomp on that sack o’ s—t (rhymes with spit).

Eva says she saw the three earlier in the day when Sofia brought them home and they’re all adorable. Juan says they’ve become so attached to all three of them that he wonders what will happen to the other two when they determine which is actually theirs. “Who will take care of them?” Juan gets a big smile on his face and we assume he’s thinking they’ll adopt the other two and keep all three of them. (Oh Lord, FELS: The Next Generation? Say it ain’t so!)

Fer wonders how Gabi could think so little of him as to think he wouldn’t have a plan to cover themselves with. She wants the skinny on it but he says, no all in good time. First thing is to get control over the little girls because that’s going to be their only weapon against Juan and Sofia when everything comes to light. Gabi gets a gleam in her eyes and says they should adopt them as soon as possible.

Back in town the Gossip sisters have gone to see Padre Tadeo specifically to give the 411 on Gabi and Dr. Matasanos’ (Gomez) and that heated discussion they overheard on the street earlier. “It was like she was scolding him. We didn’t understand a lot of it, but we did hear one word: “Crime”. Pad Tad says he’ll take it from there and thank you very much.

In the kitchen at the Double R the whole crew is snacking. Oscar wonders if Juan realized that the Bad Love Bar had been dismantled already and stripped of everything. Franco says it all happened in a single day, so fast it’s like they were trying to get rid of something. Juan figures it might be they were trying to hide something. Oscar says more like they were trying to avoid having somebody go snooping around and investigating something, something important. They’ve gotten Juan curious and he goes off to find out what that “something” is.

Over at the Double E (Hacienda de las Elizondo y del Escandon) it’s supper time. Augie starts giving “Fernandito” a hard time asking him about his trip and why he came back so soon. He lays it on thick about how much they all missed him, and then razzes him about first being his grandson and then his son-in-law. “But then, you know how much I love you,” Augie smiles with a sarcastic twinkle in his eye. “There is no doubt that you adore us. You want to be a part of this family, whatever it takes, right? But here, between us, is it that you love us or is it out of self-interest?” Fernandito answers back sarcastically that he enjoys the old man’s very entertaining commentaries and isn’t it nice that he’s back living in his old room with them.

Augie tells Feo that he’s come back to protect his granddaughters and even Gabi because of all the unexpected tragic incidents that occur, like what happened to Rosario and Armando. Gabi says speaking of them, the sheriff told her that they found both Rosario and Armando’s fingerprints on Feo’s safe. “Seems those two swindlers got what they deserved when they were assaulted and murdered.” Sofia asks Mama to change the subject, especially since she’s so excited to have the little girls upstairs. Gabi says she’s fine with that because she finds them sooooo adoooorable. Augie says he’s glad to hear it because that means they’ll have some peace around the place. Jimena says no. There’s peace around the place now since Root decided to leave. When Gabi takes offense, Jimena defends herself. “She’s nothing but a schemer, a jealous female and a faker. Didn’t you see how fast that foot of hers got better?”

Mama forces a chortle and says oh, Root’s just a practical joker and she likes her. “Why there was nothing wrong with her. She just wanted to get Juan Reyes to carry her in his arms, and she got him to! Did you hear that Sofia?” Gabi gives another forced smile and then a frown comes. “There are just some women who like everything so …common. Right, Sofia?” Sofia refuses to acknowledge the dig and leaves the table to look in on the little girls. Augie gets after Gabi for the way she always loves to rub it in with Sofia. Gabi says too bad if people in this family can’t stand to hear the truth. (Instead of ice, can we substitute a little broken glass in the hag’s next refill?) Augie says, “Speaking of the truth, I could tell you a few things.” Gabi says well she has plenty of her own to tell. “Or did you forget how you killed my mother?”

Augie turns beet red with anger and calls Gabi a liar. “That’s the lie you use to cover up the real culprit. YOU were the one driving! Did you forget that? YOU were the one who killed her!” Gabi looks around the table at everyone and then remembers the accident and how she got out of the driver’s side, saw her dad unconscious on the ground and slid him behind the wheel to make it look like he’d done the deed.

Meanwhile, upstairs Sofia helps get the little girls ready for bed and thinks to herself that even if she found that one of them was really her daughter, she would not be willing to give up the other two.

Back in town, Padre pays a late night visit to Dr. Matasanos (Gomez) and says he urgently needs to speak with him.

Juan is walking towards the cantina across town when Feo drives up and calls over to him. “Isn’t there any way I don’t cross paths with you?” “—I’m doing exactly what I told you I would. I’m keeping my eye on you.” “—And I’m telling you I had nothing to do with your daughter’s disappearance.” “—That’s exactly what I want to prove.” “—You’re wasting your time.” “—That’s life.” Juan is still smiling through his clenched teeth as Feo gives up and drives off a little too easily. The two bartenders come out from the cantina just then and give Juan an unexpected fright. They tell Juan they were there counting what’s left of the liquor inventory.

Feo drives on, thinking to himself that it won’t be long till Juan finds what he left there and that then he’ll avoid being suspected of the kidnapping. He plans to kill two birds with one stone and thinks something about refusing to let himself be used to adopt “those three brats.”

Juan has asked the two ex-bartenders to help him with something but they say they can’t. Juan sneaks around back of the building by himself then.

Back again at the Double E, Sofia and Sarita continue to play with the little girls. Sarita is loaning out her room to the nuns and the little girls and will be sleeping with Jimena tonight.

Across the hall in Jimena’s room, Oscar comes in through the balcony for a little bit of late-night delight. Jimena tells him that she can’t tonight because Sarita’s sleeping in there with her. He romantically asks her to leave and take a walk in the countryside and to look up at the night sky with him hinting they should of course let one thing lead to another, but Jimena refuses him again. He begs her to give him some time and not be so selfish with him, but she gets angry and she says he’ll just have to come back some other night. (I guess the …uh… lust-er of this relationship has worn off for Jimena.) Oscar finally loses his patience with her and they fight. “Some other night????” Oscar raises his voice and she tells him to be quiet because Mama might hear and come up and find them together. He says let her because any love-making she’d see in there would be what married people do. They are still married and maybe the old broad ought to find out.

Jimena gets snitty about that being his doing because he never bothered to discuss it first, and that everything always has to be Oscar’s way. (Seems to me he’s been a saint because it’s actually been the other way ‘round.) Oscar says they’re a bit too big to continue playing cat and mouse games like this and he’s getting tired of it all already. He draws a line in the sand. They love each other, but if she’s tired of being his wife, then tomorrow morning she can find herself a lawyer. As he leaves he tells her that this is the last time that he will ever again come in to the house through the balcony.

In town again at Dr. M’s, Padre Tadeo asks Matasanos (Gomez) to show a bit of compassion for a suffering mother who cannot cope any longer. The doctor plays dumb but, thanks to the Gossip sisters, he doesn’t fool Tadeo. Padre Tadeo tells Matasanos that if he knows something about the whereabouts of Sofia’s child, then he must tell; and even if at some moment he was on the Dark Side, there is still time to repent and avoid a tragedy. He should know that Juan is the type of man who would give his life to get his daughter back. So, if Dr. M repents, God will know it and pardon him, provided he gives up the guilty parties and clears his conscience. It looks like Dr. M. is about to break when Fernando slithers in and rattles his tail at the two of them. Feo asks the padre, “What are you doing here?” The doctor gives Tadeo a warning glance just as the ominous music swells and the screen shunts us back to of the mundane world of the commercial.

After Uni has paid its bills, we beam back to Dr. Matasanos’ office. He has to think fast, but it’s not fast enough. He says something about the padre consulting him for a health problem and writes Tadeo out a fake prescription. As Tadeo starts to leave, Feo starts emphatically gushing over the padre’s health. He grabs the padre’s hand and kisses it. Suddenly everything around the two of them glows red (like a scene from a bad Ghostbusters or Exorcist sequel ‘cause all that’s missing here is for Feo’s head to do a 360 and shoot pea soup out of its mouth). Yes, Tadeo has been kissed –and threatened-- by The Devil incarnate and he knows it. (All of Viewerville wonders if Matasanos knows it too and suspects what’s coming next.)

Once Padre Tadeo leaves the doctor’s office Feo turns to him and says, “What? Did you think I was an idiot?” He insists on knowing what the doc and Tadeo were really talking about. Feo throws the doctor back against the wall and into his chair and then screams at Dr. M. to answer. Matasanos is literally scared speechless.

Sofia is in her room reading her bible or some such but can’t stop thinking about her latest roll in the hay with Juan. She’s definitely got the hots for him again and apparently is hoping to hear his spurs jingle-jangling on her balcony once more. She looks out her window at the moon and sighs VERRRRY deeply. She says to herself that he is absolutely her one true love.

Speaking of Juan, he has now sneaked into the back of the cantina just the way Feo wanted him to and found his way into the locker room. He turns on the lights and takes a look around.

Back at Dr. M’s office it seems that the doctor has regained a bit of his composure. He stands up and shakes his finger at Fernando (never a smart thing to do) who is now in the opposite chair puffing on his cheroot. Matasanos threatens Feo with going to the police and turning Gabi and him in for the kidnapping if Fernando doesn’t stop threatening him. Feo just stares at Matasanos.

At the same time, Gabi takes a turn for show upstairs with the little girls. She thinks to herself that she is the only one who knows which of the three girls is really Sofia’s and that she will never tell her which one it is. (Ok. Ok. Shouldn’t something like the same goofy grin as Juan’s or the same funny ears as Augie’s have given the kid away long before now?) Gabi fawns over the girls a minute or two and then abruptly leaves with a very perverse and satisfied grin on her face.

Upstairs in her bed, Jimena is crying to Sarita over the way things ended with Oscar and that he says he never wants to see her again. Jimena whines that Sarita just doesn’t understand her predicament. Sarita asks what’s to understand. First Jimena is upset because the divorce went through and then when she finds out that Oscar got the divorce annulled, she’s upset because he didn’t have the courtesy to tell her first? Jimena tells her to stop criticizing and asks what she would do if Franco told her he never wanted to see her again? (Can’t say as I understand it either, ‘cause either I missed the point here, or Jimena did.) Sarita doesn’t have a comeback. (Maybe she is just as confused as the rest of us.)

Speaking of the King of Rome, Franco pays Sarita a midnight visit through the balcony, obviously hoping for a repeat of the night before. However, when he enters her moonlit room he sees the nuns and little girls are sleeping there instead and bolts before someone wakes up and he gets found out.

Across the hallway Gabi is painting one of those crazy Night Gallery things again when Fernando returns. She asks him where he’s been. “Taking care of a few unresolved matters with Dr. Gomez and Juan Reyes,” he answers. He tells her they don’t have to worry about Gomez bothering them anymore and now all that’s left to take care of is Juan Reyes. The camera cuts to a shot of Matasanos lying dead on his desk with his eyes open and glasses half off.

In the locker area of the Bad Love Juan is kicking and banging open a locker –the right locker apparently, since it’s the only one there with a latched-on padlock. He breaks the latch and inside it he finds a shirt and a red poncho just like his. He thinks back to the horseback race to the falls with the other shadowy figure while trying to save his little newborn daughter from being kidnapped. Next he finds an old photo of Fernando and another guy, but he can’t remember who the other guy in the photo is. He rummages around further and finds the baby blanket. “My daughter! My daughter!” He turns back around and finds the plastic bag with all sorts of papers and things and takes out Armando’s letter.

“If you want to see Juan Reyes’ and Sofia Elizondo’s daughter alive again, you’ll have to pay the ransom I’m asking for. For the time being, don’t advise the authorities because if you do then I will abandon her and you’ll never ever see her again. If something happens to me, I make Dr. Gomez (Matasanos), who was my accomplice and who placed her in an orphanage while we waited for the ransom, responsible.“

Juan is beside-himself-with-happiness-impactado over what he’s just read in the letter. In a one-hankie scene Juan exclaims out loud, “Dear God! I was right! One of the little girls in the orphanage is my daughter! I’ve found my daughter!” Tears of joy trickle down his cheeks as the realization sets in. “Dear God, thank you so much! Now I will be able to take her to her mother. I am going to hand her over to her also like I promised her.”

Viewerville dries its eyes as Juan puts the letter he found into his pocket and throws the rest of the stuff, except for the baby blanket, carelessly back into the locker and then turns out the lights. Just before he leaves, though, he asks himself why all the things he found seemed to be put into the locker on purpose. Why, it was “Dr. Gomez. Dr. Gomez.” Juan, never aiming to be the brightest bulb in any given chandelier, races off to Dr. Matasanos’ office while the locker is left wide open with all the rest of the contents hanging out for anybody and everybody to scavenge through. The camera pans down to the floor where the plastic bag full of all the other things apparently Rosario had with her is forgotten on the ground.

Back in their bedroom, Gabi wants an explanation from Feo about what he meant by saying Dr. Gomez wouldn’t bother them again. Feo says he only meant that the guy was very mistaken in thinking that Feo and she wouldn’t have a plan to cover themselves if the truth about Sofia’s baby was discovered and either Juan or Sofia found their daughter. “And what was that plan?” Feo says he gave Armando a lot of money before he was dispatched to that Big Cantina in the Sky. She wants to know why. Feo tells her to sit down and listen. He shades the truth a bit and says it was to get him to write a letter declaring he was Gomez’s accomplice in the kidnapping, leaving out the small little detail about Feo’s murdering him immediately after. “Later I hid the letter in Armando’s locker and as tonight I ran into Juan Reyes prowling around the cantina, and because I’m certain he’s already found that letter, he will go straight to Dr. Gomez to complain.” Gabi isn’t following where all of this is leading. Feo fills in the holes. “--Well, Juan Reyes is going to get a big surprise!”

At that very moment Juan enters Dr. Gomez’s office and finds him bent over his desk, dead. Just then the two male nurses enter looking for their boss and find Juan bent over his body. The one checks his pulse and says he’s dead. The other asks Juan what he did to the good doctor. Juan yells at him and says not to be a stupid jerk, he only came to speak with him and there he was already dead and gone. They accuse him of killing Dr. Gomez anyway.

Feo is lying awake in bed now but pretends to be asleep as Gabi gets out of bed and puts on her robe. She looks down at Feo and thinks to herself she’d better be very careful around him from now on because whenever he decides to do something, no one can keep him from it. “Perhaps it would be better for me to divorce him, but first I’ve got to adopt the three little girls so that when Sofia discovers everything it will be too late for her; she won’t be able to snatch away what’s mine! Sofia will never be owner of this hacienda. Never!”

Juan and the male nurses are now over at the jail with the sheriff to tell their side of the story. The one tells the sheriff that they found Dr. Gomez lying dead over his desk with Juan standing over him. Juan swears he didn’t lay a hand on the guy and only went there to talk with him about the letter he found. He gives Armando’s letter to the sheriff to read. The sheriff gets after Juan for not coming to see him first about it instead of getting himself into another mess because of it. “Just read it, man. Read, it.” The sheriff does. “Well, until we can determine what Dr. Gomez died of, you’re being held. Heck, you already know the way back there.” Juan deflates and gripes at him. “Darn! Not again? ” He handcuffs himself for the deputies and walks into the cell on his own. (It was good for a couple of quick yuks, I gotta admit.) The sheriff sends Deputy Palemon off for Dr. Montes at the clinic to come right away to examine Dr. Gomez’s body and then sends the two male attendants home.

At the Double R, Oscar and Franco are commiserating over coming up dry with their women tonight. “What a pain. We fight and make up; then we make up and we fight. We are never going to have a moment’s peace this way.” Oscar says well, he’s just plain tired of it all and he told Jimena in all seriousness that either they live together as husband and wife like they are, or that’s it! Franco wants to know if he really is ready to lose her. Oscar answers of course not. No way he wants a divorce. Just then Rigo races in to tell the two of them that Juan was just arrested under suspicion of murdering Dr. Gomez. “Murdered?” asks Franco. “Yes,” says Rigo.

Back at the jail Padre Tadeo tells the sheriff that he’s come because he heard about Dr. Montes being called over to see about Dr. Gomez. Tadeo explains he was there at Dr. Gomez’s earlier talking to him both as a man and as a priest. He is certain Dr. Gomez wanted to tell him something but Fernando Escandón walked in and stopped him. "For that reason I demand that you investigate Fernando Escandon immediately. It would be extremely worthwhile, Sheriff."

Gabi gets back into bed. Feo rolls over towards the wall and thinks back to what happened between him and Dr. Gomez after Padre Tadeo left: “Did you think it was that easy to get rid of me?” He pushes the doctor back down into his chair. “Sit down!!” The doctor begs him to let him go and promises if he does that Feo will never hear from him again. He doesn’t want to be his accomplice any longer. Feo tells him that things just aren’t that easy. “You have to pay attention when you enter into an agreement over things; in matters like this you cannot get out of them just like that. At least, not alive, right? Look.” Feo takes out a syringe. The doctor asks what it‘s for, but in a blink of an eye Feo jams it into the doctor’s chest and manages to block the doctor from pulling it out. “What are you injecting into me?” “--It is what I asked you for a while ago to lower Gabriela’s blood pressure if she should have another heart attack. But, look! How ironic life is! What you prepared so efficiently for Gabriela will be useful to send you to rest forever. Oh and hey! Good riddance!” Feo comes back to the present and thinks to himself that Juan Reyes is next.

Back at the jail Tadeo, Oscar and Franco are visiting Juan in his cell. Juan’s says he’s not worried about what the authorities can prove. What’s important, he tells them, is that he’s found his daughter. They all agree. “Thank God and it’s great that you’ve been able to fulfill your promise to [Sofia] and end her suffering,” says Oscar. The sheriff walks in at that point and tells them all that Dr. Montes just finished his examination of Dr. Gomez’s body and said he died of a heart attack, so there’s no crime to pursue. Back slaps and cheers all around. Tadeo turns to the sheriff and reminds him he’d better continue investigating Fernando Escandon. The sheriff objects and says neither he nor Juan is responsible for Dr. Gomez’s death. So Juan’s free of all charges and can leave whenever he wants. More cheers and back slapping.

Augie comes in for a midnight chat with Sofia who is unable to sleep because of all the excitement around having the little girls there in the house. Augie says he didn’t want to tell her before, so as not to get her hopes up, but Juan told him that he has a feeling one of those little girls is theirs. Sofia says she has always suspected so too because the way they all arrived there was so odd. Dr. Gomez’s explanations didn’t satisfy either her or Juan. Augie doesn’t want her to get her hopes up too high but Sofia says she has faith. Tomorrow morning she’s taking the little girls to see the virgencita at church and she has a feeling that all her doubts will be put to rest then. (About friggin’ time.)

Across the way at the Double R, the whole house is up and having a midnight snack. (Interesting how somebody is always eating something at that place, whatever time of the day or night.) Juan is pacing and Quintina asks him how it ever occurred to him to investigate Fernando. He says that from what everyone has told him since he came back, nothing has squared about Fernando Escandon. He doesn’t think Armando acted alone, either. Fernando had to have something to do with the whole thing. Eva changes the subject to Sofia and the baby. Eugenia says Sofia is going to be so thrilled when she hears the news. Juan says he’d be running over there to tell her now except that they’ve all stopped him from it. Oscar says it’s way too late now, anyway. Franco says it’s best to wait till the morning. Rigo and his mom agree with Franco and say that whenever Juan rushes off like that he always gets himself into a jam and she’s probably asleep by now, anyway. Tomorrow is soon enough to tell Sofia. Juan is desperate to tell her, but he agrees with them that it will be better to wait till the morning.

Morning comes and Sofia is in church with the little girls. She prays to the virgencita to give her some proof of the miracle she has asked her for so many times before, to confirm what she now suspects. Juan walks in, smiles over at the little girls and sits in the pew behind Sofia. She turns around to greet him. In a three-hankie scene he points at the virgencita and tells her that in this church he found her again; in this same church he fell in love with her again; that’s why today he’s come there to tell her that she does not have to hang any more little medallions on the virgencita. (Query: where do all those trinkets go at the end of the day, anyway?) Thanks to her prayers the miracle she’s wished for for so long has come to pass. Before Juan can explain further he takes Sofia to pray and give thanks to the virgencita, because thanks to the virgencita he has been able to keep his word. Yes! He has found their daughter. He always had the feeling, deep down inside of him. He whispers for Sofia to turn and look over at the little girls. “One of those three little girls is our daughter.”

11-13-08 The Latin Grammy's...Songs, not elderly Hispanic persons

Due to this being...NOVEMBER & if it is November it must be sweeps month.
Thus being sweeps month the TeleNovelas are pre-empted for more advertising bang for your bucks. Capitalism at it's very best.

Briefly your inside red carpet look at the Grammy's

The hosts were Damien de Fuego & Babe Shrink de Destillando.
If life was perfect..or my version of life these two would be banging like the back up drummer in a Cuban band & laughing over Juan & Sofie.

Speaking of Juan...
Juanes...Wow all this time I thought the name meant everyone in the band had the first name Juan...Live and learn. Anyway this guy is hawt. He set records for winning a lot of Grammy's for having the most Juans in Juan band.

Some kind of FolkDance thing. There was some kind of Folkloria/o type dance thing. I've seen it before at Hispanic festivals, but the dancers were kids. Anyway Fans of Fuego, the best part of this was that the dancers (the ones who danced with the guys in white peasant clothes) were wearing the same gingham dresses that the "Hey Sista go Sista's" wear at the Old Settler's Day Festivities in Mexidoom. The only thing is that these dancer's will have the good sense to remove their costumes at the end of their number and not make the ruffles, bows and endless yards of rick-rack part of their signature line.

El Tigres de Norte-a norteno group did an old song that I have heard like 20mil veces. I perked right up when I heard the word gringos & the audience was on their feet cheering. As poor as my spanish is..I did catch the part about indios con spanish, we are the real Americans & out numbering the Gringos. Egads don't be makin me feel guilty about snarking at Lou Dobbs. Give somebody a green card and they go all Che Guevera on your ass.
Seems in honor of the Grammy's they rewrote the lyrics.
This was okay as it doesn't take much to make me get the ol beret out.

My favorite part was Alejandra Guzman, she is alway decent entertainment. She always seems to be running to the shelter of a Mother's little helper. Anyway kids this is a PSA.
Root (except Root is really older than Guzman), Root this is what happens to nasty little girls..they start looking sad in leather, they end up on an awards shows singing in a thirty year voice of two packs a day unfiltered PallMalls, chased by a couple of quarts of Jack. Alejandra is often seen on Don Francisco's Wed nite show or Christina after a bout in rehap.

Gloria Estafan Latin Recording Academy Person of the year did a song with Jose Feliciano & Carlos Santana..I saw Cesar Evora sitting behind Gloria's family. Geez these Cubans stick together. Also Andy Garcia introduced her and Andy Garcia is always welcome on my television.
I love Andy Garcia cause he is so multidimensional, he makes an great Italian Mobster as well as Cuban Mobster and he is pretty too.

This is all I remember..
I must add I was wicked pissed last night when I went to watch Dirty, Sexy Money on ABC and it was pre-empted by Country Grammy's....As if!!!!

So I pass the baton to Jardinera.
Do you realize with all the interruptions, Fuego now has a longer life span than the Polor Bear Specie.
