Llena de Amor #89 (Mex. 94) Thu 12/16/10 The Hardy Boys Find Some Clues, The Boardinghouse Becomes A Fight Club and Victoria Twists The Knife

Big doins tonight. Deals are made. Clues discovered. Other secrets still kept. We had interrupted romances (Brandon and Consuelo), fake romances (Doris and Manolo) and imagined romances (Muñeca dreaming of Fidel as el Lirio de Plata). And lots of beat downs. Three black eyes in the naco boardinghouse alone. Even better, Mauricio gets thoroughly punched out. Fedra is alternately thwarted and frightened. Kristel and Lorenzo remain clueless about most everything. And Mari/Vicky digs her claws into Ilitia. Not pretty but I guess turnabout's fair play. So all in all, no complaining about the action dragging tonight. Nosireee!

A brief review of last night: Lorenzo and Fedra are about to start their nauseous canoodling when they're interrupted by a threatening phone call. It's clearly Victoria but Fedra's baffled. And frightened. When Lorenzo cautions her to "no te desesperes" she thinks he's saying "Perez" and that really freaks her out. Way to go, Low!
Elsewhere, Ilitia is thinking out loud how she'd like to kill Mauricio and see him rot in hell-- which chaps Kristel quite a bit. And just why is Ilitia obsessing about HER boyfriend instead of focusing on her beloved groom. Good question Kristel. Now make a huge effort, girl and THINK!!!

Wow...well, Emanuel's thinking. About Mari. And how much he misses her. Axel bops in and says he misses her too. Yep, now that he's recovered his memory, he regrets the nasty way he treated her. Great! Let's toast to that....and with the good stuff. Now that Axel has Bernardo's keys, the boys are off to break into the wine cellar that the Momster has made off limits to them for years.

Elsewhere, our two skinny bitches are still squabbling. Ilitia has tried to backtrack by saying her ire with Mauricio had to do with his behavior at the party. And how about how he was coming on to that newbie Victoria!? Kristel denies it. Ilitia calls her "blind". Kristel begs to differ. She's in love. And has no reason to doubt Mauricio. Okay. Not blind. Just flat out Dumb. But that's not our problem.

But speaking of dumb...GretelMan and Doris are hatching up a new scheme. Since Oliver doubt's GM's masculinity, how about she and Doris pretending to be novios? No sooner said than done. Oliver arrives, the girls are in a near smooch and he's in a royal snit. Not helped by GM giving him a nyahnyahnyah look. Or Doris raving that his incredible kisses have left her trembling.

Lottsa trembling upstairs in Brandon's bedroom too. He and Consuelo are about to get to Criterion Behavior when Oliver bangs on the door. Thank God! Praying nightly for this story line to go away. Consuelo scrambles for the closet. Brandon scrambles for his pants. Oliver, finally in, tells big brother that Manolo's getting frisky with his little sister downstairs. Brandon shoots down and discharges a little pent-up energy punching Manolo out. See what I mean? Lots of action in this episode. Stupid. But lively.

And the pace is picking up in the wine cellar too. Emanuel and Axel forget all about vino when they find a wastepaper basket full of syringes, plates of old food and a wine cask carved with "my name is Gretel Ruiz de Teresa".
Wow. Okay. First of all, Bernardo did a lousy job of cleaning up. Too busy getting busy with Nereida, no doubt. And the boys are finally realizing that their mother is even more of a monster than they thought. But where could Gretel be now? And surely she has gone crazy after being shut up like an animal for two years. Have they put her in an insane asylum? Emanuel's plan is not to confront directly. Rather, he'll keep to his plan of being Mom's good buddy and PRY the information out of her. Axel looks dubious.

So does Gladiola when she goes upstairs and now finds Oliver in Brandon's bedroom.....with a scantily clad Consuelo (my eyes my eyes!) creeping out of the closet. Some stammering going on here which isn't convincing Glad a bit.

Well, heck, let's leave this uncomfortable scene for another icky one. Lorenzo is meeting his detective in some kind of girlie booze joint. The bozo keeps leering at some gals' legs instead of paying attention to Lorenzo's predicament of finding his lost child. But he finally tears himself away to advise him that the only way Low can get a handle on the child's whereabouts is to be in contact with one of Garduño's people. Got it? Now back to my full-time leering.

Back to the brouhaha in the barrio. Oliver's sneering at the purported romance, suggesting the only thing Doris and Manolo could do together is get their nails done. But he knows they're hiding something and he's gonna find out! Victoria, who's sauntered down in her peignoir, is defending her little bro' to Brandon as delicate and sensitive. Brandon's not fooled. He's feminine and different...and I'm okay with that as long as he doesn't lead my sister on. But he needs to lay off her. And as for you, my naco policeman's nose still tells me something's fishy. And the name Victoria de la GARZA fits you quite well. (Okay, not sure what the joke is but there are two possibilities: One..."garza" means "heron". But also, someone who "se cree la divina Garza" is someone pretentious who gives herself airs. So...I dunno...take your pick.)

Okay. Merrrrrrrry Christmas. We get to see Mauricio punched out. Garduño's two goons warn him he has two weeks to pay back the stolen money and emphasize their message with some effective blows to the face. Let's just sit back and savor that for a moment.

Okay. Back to business. GretelMan is chafing at the criticism of her "masculinity". And feeling sorry for Axel now that she understands what it feels like to be dissed as a girlie man. Doris makes another plea for honesty on all fronts and is met with the usual disclaimers. Can't tell. Too dangerous. Fedra's a real threat. Must protect the folks at home. Yada yada. Upstairs, the yada yada is taking a violent turn. Oliver wants to know what's up with Consuelo. When he knows Brandon's obsessed with Ilitia. Brandon wants to know what's up with Doris. Is Oliver just trying to use her to "forget" since Gretel dumped him. Them's fightin' words. Oliver lands a good one and now we have three black eyes. Manolo, Brandon and Oliver.

Soooo....ready for a little peace and quiet? We see Muñeca tucked in bed, peacefully dreaming about her chauffeur Fidel, dressed as el Lirio de Plata and confessing his love for her with a plea to use the money for good and....ah yes, punctuate that plea with a tender kiss. Creepy old Low, in his satin pj's slips into bed and imagines that his poor wife is dreaming of him with desire. Ah if you only knew Lorenzo. You've been replaced. And by a much better guy.

Victoria and Manolo are still in deep discussion. She's revealed her threatening phone call to Fedra and GretelMan reveals her tell-all newspaper article which will come out tomorrow. (Does anybody do fact checking in Mexico? Well, no matter...let's get on with this.)

Emanuel's trying to do some fact-checking of his own, wheedling some Gretel info out of Momster but they're interrupted by Axel and Emiliano. Pops is glowing because son has recovered his memory. And his balls. I'm not going to be a doctor, Mother. I'm going to study music. Mom counters that music is for the light lads, not a decent profession for her son. Emiliano disputes. Emanuel sides with Mom. Dad is disappointed. And then there's the firing of Bernardo. Now Fedra's REALLY upset. You can't do that! He's my right arm. I'm crippled without him! A deal is struck. If you lay off Axel and his music, I'll let Bernardo stay. Okay. Signed sealed and delivered. For now. (Can't imagine Fedra ever giving up. But the lady knows how to play for time. Gotta give that to her.) Axel leaves, but not before exchanging a conspiratorial wink with Emanuel.

More uproar in the boardinghouse. Gladiola and Netty are double-teaming the young folks. Doris is being criticized for setting off the violence by going after Oliver and then hooking up with Manolo. Izzat what they teach you in Los Angeles young lady!? Maybe you should get back to work! Like at the funeral parlor. Doris is saved by Victoria who promises her a job at the agency. (Now how could our barely established newbie wield that kind of power? Another question better not asked. Let's go with the flow again.)

We see an outside shot of Mauricio's home (or apartment building?) Anyway, it's clearly the same building they used as the agency in Fea Más Bella. Quite nostalgic to see it now as Malicio's pad. Lorenzo has arrived to pour oil on troubled waters and hook up with Mauricio as a partner. He'll set him up to play Lirio de Plata and rob the rich folks at a charity bash Muñeca is planning. In exchange, he wants to know if Garduño's getting close to finding his lost child.

El Lirio de Plata. The continuing mystery. Muñeca and Flora are still squabbling over whether or not to use the money. The briefcase falls. A letter appears. It's from Lirio! saying please use the money for the less fortunate. If you give it to the police it will just fall back into the hands of the people who are destroying our country. "with my deepest respect" el Lirio de Plata. That man is a hero! Ready to give his life for the poor! declares Flora. Fidel, hovering at the door and listening in, strides in and adds his vote. Don't give the money back. But Muñeca's sure he's hiding something.

Let's wrap up the continuing wrangle at the boardinghouse. Gladiola wants to straighten out this hot mess right now. Like who's Consuela been canoodling with? Oliver starts babbling. Consuelo looks panicked. Brandon likewise. But here's how the story spins out. Olly says he had too much to drink, saw Consuelo emerging from the bathroom scantily dressed, came on to her and.....well, let's forget the whole thing. General relief all 'round. Well, relief until GretelMan starts thanking Oliver for taking the blame and gets a little too cosy, wanting to be his friend and gushing about what a nice guy he is. Olly's had enough. Do you have the hots for me or what!? (Do we think Gretel's about to let Oliver in on her secret? Stay tuned.)

And stay tuned for Fedra's latest schemes. She's plotting her next move on Axel but wonders where he got the guitar. Bernardo explains Delicia's involvement and gloats that he's going to teach both her and Axel a lesson. This happy scene is interrupted by Nereida bringing in the front page news that Fedra has been denounced as the hostess of an elite club of the most corrupt people in the country. Zounds! Definitely stay tuned. Let it hit the fan!

Now for the finale. Doris and Victoria arrive at the agency. Doris' secret crush, André Silva is on her like white on rice, remembering her name and extolling her triumph in L.A. She pretends she doesn't remember him. His face is so common. Lots of guys like him in Los Angeles. (You're overdoing it Doris!) His face falls. But with an ego like his, he rebounds quickly when he learns she'll be working there and offers to show her around. And off they go.

And Emanuel and Ilitia arrive, bickering about her desire to shadow him at work. Time for Victoria to unsheathe her claws. Which she does most effectively. Ah, the "happy newlyweds" she coos. And reminds Manny, when he "usteds" her that last night they were on a "tutear" basis. And she wants to return his clothes to him. Ilitia is surprised. And outraged. Oh...you didn't explain to wifey why you arrived home last night without your clothes?" smiles Mari. And we have another nyahnyahnyah look. Whew! Fin.

Previews:
Ilitia protests that Emanuel loves her. Not even you believe that, sneers Victoria.
Vicky/Mari vows vengeance.
Brandon tells Ilitia she's playing with fire and will get burned.
Ilitia tells Vicky she'll defend her marriage "hasta los dientes" and Vicky says she hopes she has a good dentist. Yikes! This party is getting rough.

Vocabulary:
jeringas = syringes (What Manny and Axel found in the wine cellar)

La Fea Más Bella #131-132 12/16/10 I just want to go away.

Capitulo 131.
Read Alma’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Lety reads Omar’s cards, cries, and calls out to God for help. Her next reaction is denial. It must be a mistake, or Omar’s joke. She wants to die to escape the pain, but she plasters on a blank face for the cuartel. She copies the letter and returns everything to the briefcase. The white rose dies for lack of water.

2. Fernando recognizes that news of the engagement ring will really hurt Lety, but she needs to know that he’s doing really badly too. When he calls her to his office, she keeps her nose in her notebook to avoid looking at him.

3. Lety tries to convince herself that it’s all a mistake, but she hears Fernando on the phone with Omar as he discovers the letter. He lectures Omar for leaving it out in the open, and that confirms Lety’s fear. She doesn’t hear him say to himself, “It has been beautiful to make love with her, be with her, with her smiles. Lety is an endless fiesta, she so delights my soul.” (Me, me, me!)

4. Carolina realizes that Lety’s falling apart (though Fernando doesn’t) and takes her to the bathroom, while MamaJ finds another injured stray (Moty) and takes him home.

5. Lety concludes that she deserves this because she betrayed Marcia. She tells Caro, “They killed me.” Alicia pries, and Lety lays into her. “I won’t entertain you with my personal life. You’re a vulture with your claws out, enjoying the deaths on the road. A vulture because you feed on others. I don’t know if you realize that your life is garbage.”

6. Caro insists on taking Lety home and Lety refuses, so Caro gives her an ultimatum. “If you don’t let me take you home, I tell Fernando.”

Capitulo 132.
Read k-Fuego’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Lety compares Fernando’s behavior to the letter. He wants to give her a ride home but she says her father’s taking her. He makes plans to go out tomorrow; she doesn’t say anything. Lety wants to pack up her office and never come back, but Caro hustles her out.

2. Clarita is cleaning out her backpack, and Fernando sees the card with his name. He finds out the kids found the red bag and put the envelope in his briefcase.

3. See the transcript. Caro says Lety can’t quit without notice; she should tell Fernando. Lety just wants to shut herself in her room for days. Caro speculates that it’s personal and it involves Fernando. Lety denies it.

4. Tomás thinks Lety is crying because he teased her. He says, “Don’t cry. Take my job, take the company from me, but don’t cry.” Lety tells Tom what happened. See the transcript.

5. Julieta hides Moty because Erasmo doesn’t like dogs, but Moty keeps making noise.

Spanish Lesson

Caro takes Lety home.
C: I’m not going to interfere or interrogate you. But if you’re thinking of quitting, that affects everyone.
L: I. Don’t. Want to. Return.
C: You can’t. Too much depends on you. It would be easier for Fern, Mar, or Omar to leave, but not you. You’re the last person to shirk you work. Conceptos depends on you.
L: Let them get someone else.
C: What did they do to you? I want to help you. I want to look for a solution for your problem.
L I just want to shut myself in my house for days.
C: Then do that, but Fernando deserves an explanation. What will happen when you don’t arrive tomorrow? What did Fern do to you?
L: Why do you say that?
C: Because if you leave, he would be the most likely suspect. I get the impression he has no idea what’s happening. Why don’t you tell him? Is the situation between you that bad? Did he offend you that much? This isn’t a work problem, is it? It’s something deeper.
L: (Turns away.) No, I was wrong. What’s happening is my fault. It has nothing to do with him.
C: Then should he pay the consequences?
L: (Crying.) I just want to disappear from the world for awhile.
C: Then ask for vacation or something. You can’t do it like this. Especially if he’s not guilty of anything. You say it’s personal. ¿It has nothing to do with work? Then why did you want to stay with me vs your friends?
L: No, it’s personal.
C: Then you can’t leave the company nor Fernando.
Lety to self. My parents. If they knew what happened to me. If they knew I failed them. That I threw away all the principles they taught me. For what? To be betrayed by the man that I love the most in all the world. Caro steps up.

Lety and Tomás. Condensed translation.
T: Don’t cry. Take my job, take the co from me, but don’t cry.
L: They killed me. I repeated the same story.
T: With whom?
L: With Fernando Mendiola. He used me. He made me fall in love with him so he wouldn’t lose the company. They thought you would influence me to take the whole company from them. One day he kissed me. I believed him.How could I imagine that Fernando was lower than Miguel?
T: But you were already in love with him. It was obvious.
L: You’re right. I fell in love, the first time I saw him. But it was with someone impossible. I was happy. Like being in love with a dream. I would’ve died happy like that. Marcia became a torture to me. The guilt never gave me a moment’s peace. I wanted to break up with him sooo many times, but he never accepted it. Of course not. He even swore that he would cancel his wedding for me. I just couldn’t break away from him. It was as if I was glued to him.
T: You were foolish, Lety. A man like him would never marry someone like you. Even if he was in love. Even if he’d lose the company otherwise. How could you not suspect?
L: He was so sincere. He made me feel loved. I was walking in the clouds. Until I woke up and it all turned into a nightmare. But do you know what? It was my own fault. I accepted a relationship with an engaged man. It was logical that I would end up losing.

Eva Luna #30 Wed 12/15/10 Daniel cancels the wedding/ and Eva “sticks it” to Victoria

We start out tonight with Marcella, Daniel and Leo in the den. Marcella demands to know what the fight was all about. Leo tells her it was between him and Daniel. Marcella insists on knowing what went on. Daniel reiterates it is between him and Leo. Marcella says it took place in public and she has a right to know. Daniel stands his ground and says he has nothing to tell her. “The interrogation is over. This afternoon the notes for tomorrows meeting will be on your desk.” and leaves Marcella turning in disbelieve to Leo.

Jacky is getting the mail when Tony approaches, taking the lollypop out of his mouth long enough to say “listen, destiny must want us together.” Jacky seems confused and says “Do I know you?” He reminds her about the other day when he drove by and starts to pour on the charm. He asks her if her husband is around. She tells him Fran isn’t her husband, although at times he watches over her as is he were. At this instant Fran drives by and sees the two talking. Tony says “well than you are single?” Jacky tells him she is single. Tony quick with the math says “One plus one is two” as they both giggle. Again we see Fran in the background looking a bit concerned.

Julio is giving Eva some good advise. He tells her Leo is terrible with the women. He is crazy for them one moment than leaves them. He tells her “Don’t fall in love with him. I know what I am talking about. Don’t fall in his clutches. (garras/claw or talon)

Marcella is still nagging Leo about the fight. She says if no one is going to tell me I will go find out for myself. Leo finally says “If you insist, the fight was to keep Daniel from breaking his engagement off with Victoria. Marcela says what? Leo tells her Daniel has had his doubts but he is certain he straightened Dan out. He tells her he has everything under control.

Fran is chewing out Jacky for talking to a stranger off the street. Jacky tells him he is no stranger and she will talk to who ever she wants to. She dismisses him and begins to vacuum. Fran yelling now tells her not to come looking to him for help when she discovers this guy is a big liar. She stops vacuuming to yell back “You’re the biggest fraud ever. The millionaire.” and starts on about him and the “professor ” and starts the vacuum once again. This gets Fran all riled as he struggles to shut off the vacuum cleaner. He yells that this is different. Jacky wants to know how and tells him to leave her alone so she can get to work. Fran is left with a puzzled look on his face.

Marcella has entered Victoria’s bedroom. Victoria is all glee and joy as she tells Marcella things worked out for the best because now she will have Daniel all to herself tonight at diner. She goes on to say she wants Eva to help her with getting ready for the night. Marcella tells her she should perhaps bring a special little gift tonight as she senses a little distance between them. Victoria thinks about this for a moment and agrees with Marcella, then asks what type of little gift was she thinking about?

We have some Alicia /Marisol time. Marisol wants to know if she told Eva why she isn’t going to school. Alicia tells her no she hasn’t had time. Marisol wisely tells her she should tell her. It is better coming from her than someone else. She tells Marisol that she asked Tony to get Carlos out of jail for her. Marisol does not seem impressed. Then she asks her about her millionaire. She wants to know if she found a house. Marisol tells her she asked her friend from work to help her.

Back at the mansion we have Victoria on the phone with a friend (I imagine it is Claudia because I don’t know who else would want to be her friend) while Eva is busy pinning up her dress. Victoria is droning on her honeymoon and how it doesn‘t matter where they go as long as she is with the man she loves. Poor Eva having to listen to all this has found a new pin cushion as she accidentally sticks Vicky in the butt with one of her pins.

Victoria screams a bit startled, then continues on the phone saying “It was nothing it was just an employee.” She continues on saying that organizing a wedding isn’t very easy but she is so happy she is just going to enjoy every moment. Eva looks on sadly.

I have some bad news. My disk stopped working. I think it was the picture of Victoria’s butt that broke it. No actually it quit recording after the first commercial as I must have pushed the wrong button. So from here on due to technical difficulties I am going to have to rely on my notes and no more pictures. I apologize and please feel free to add and or correct what I have missed or gotten wrong. At least you all get to see Eva sticking it to Victoria.

Eva has put the finished dress on the bed while Victoria is in the shower. The phone rings and Eva answers it. It is Dan. He tells Eva he is going to break off the engagement tonight at diner. Victoria has finished her shower and sees Eva on the phone and wants to know who it is. Eva hands the phone to her. Daniel tells Vicky he called to confirm their appointment tonight.

Victoria asks Eva to stay and help her get ready. She tells her that Daniel has invited her out to tell her something important but she doesn’t know what it is. She asks Eva how things are going with her boyfriend. Eva tells her she prefers not to tell her about it.

Marisol is at work and we find out that Damien did make her friend tell him about Marisols house hunt. He tells her not to worry he will help her out. He found a house for her to use. It belongs to a friend of his who will be out of town. It is a penthouse. Marisol seems surprised at his offer to help. He tells her he knows she is going out with a rich man and it would be in his best interest to help her so she can pay him back what she owes him.

The big diner has arrived. Victoria is certain this will be a special night. Daniel tells her they need to talk. Victoria says “not before I give you a little gift” and pulls out a set of engagement rings. “I hope you like them?”

The waiter has arrived and ready to take their order and just when I am about to think he is going to back out, he tells Victoria she has to take the rings back. He tells her this is hard for him but he can’t continue with this charade. “There will be no wedding. I don’t want to marry you.” Victoria looks like she was just hit by a bus as Daniel continues on saying “I know you may be feeling like killing me right now and I deserve it.”

At the same time as this is all going down, we have a nervous Eva pacing about telling Alicia that Daniel is with Victoria to break off the engagement. Alicia wonders if he will really go through with it.

He’s going through with it all right as he continues telling Victoria he didn’t want to hurt her. He says it would be a mistake to marry her. Victoria wants to know if there is another woman. Dan tells her that isn’t important. They don’t love each other. Victoria is all worked up about how this will all look to her friends and family. Daniel tells her this isn’t a “social event.” It is important to be in love. She tells him she is in love and he confesses to her that “I don’t love you.”

The pacing continues at the pension. Eva is very nervous and Alicia seems surprised and asks her if this isn’t what she wants. Eva tells her it is but she has mixed emotions about it. Alicia suggests they go do something to take her mind off things and they head off to the movies.

Victoria is still having a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that Daniel is breaking off the engagement. She tells him she can’t believe he is serious. She even goes so far to ask where the hidden cameras are and starts looking around as if she were in some “reality spoof.” She angrily tells him he can’t do this. Every one will laugh at her. Daniel stands fast and tells her there can not be a wedding.

Victoria tells him everything is ready. What will her mother say. (Anyone else out there more worried about what she will do rather than what she will say?) She gets up to leave and Daniel reaches to her to sit her back down. She tells him she is going to leave and take a taxi. He tells her there is no going back now. It is over.

Marisol is talking with her friend and wants to know why she told Damian about the house. She tells her he threatened to fire her and she needs the work. Marisol tells her that it doesn’t matter because Damian decided to help her out and is letting her use his friends penthouse. Marisol is ecstatic that she will finally land her millionaire. At the same time we see Jacky and Fran giving high fives as he tells her the news about Daniel breaking it off with Victoria . Jacky asks if this means to say the “rice is cooked” (arroz ya se cocio’ ). More high fives and fist bumps as they relish the thought of Daniel not marrying the witch.

The celebration is interrupted as Marisol calls Fran to invite him to supper at her penthouse. Jacky’s gleeful smile has left as she listens in. Marisol apologizes that it took so long to get back to him, something about the penthouse not being ready but now it is. He hangs up a happy man. Jacky leaves heart broken and clueless Fran wants to know what happened.

Victoria has arrived home and is furious. She is talking to herself and says “So now it seems like you don’t love me Daniel. When did you figure out you don’t love me?” She has quickly downed a glass of wine and throws it across the room. She calls herself an idiot for planning their wedding. She is in a fine rant as she continues to drink and says something about she will not permit herself to be the village bride wearing a broken gown. (Or something like that.) She continues ranting and roaring and says “I am going to marry you. Or better said You are going to marry me!!! I am not going to let you make fun of me. As of tonight I will have my sweet revenge.” While the rant has been going on we see Renata has been listening in to the entire one-sided conversation.

Daniel has gone over to Eva’s house but is informed by Justa that she has gone to the movies with Alicia. She tells him she doesn’t know when she will be back. He wants her to tell Eva he was there and has something very important to talk to her about.

Daniel has arrived home and his good buddy Fran wants to know how things went. They have a drink together as Daniel tells him about the evening. Fran has a thousand questions. He wants to know what she said and what she did when he told her. Daniel tells him she got Furious. Fran wisely asks if he was afraid.
Daniel tells him the worse part was she was more concerned about how bad she will look to the public. Daniel confesses to Fran that for the first time since his wife died he feels alive. Fran adds and in love. Daniel tells him he went to Eva’s house looking for her but she wasn’t there. Fran seems quite impressed with this. Daniel tells him he can’t imagine how much he wanted to go see her and tell her so that she will no longer doubt him.

Alicia and Eva have returned from their movie. Alicia thought it was a great flick. Eva says there was so much going on in her head she could really enjoy it. Justa informs Eva that Daniel was there looking for her to tell her something very important.

We have a sleazy little moment when some guy has gone over to talk with Damien. He seems surprised that Damian would be willing to help out Marisol. Damien tells him that Marisol has her little appointment at night in the penthouse but it is also at the same time that the owner will be returning. Smiling sinisterly and looking at Marisol while she dances he says “Marisol’s little acting game will fall apart in front of her galan.”

It is finally the next day and Renata asks Marcella if she has seen Vicky. Marcella tells her no. Renata tells her she is a little worried about her. Marcella wants to know if it is for any particular reason. Renata tells her that last night when she returned from her supper she went right to the bar and took a bottle with her to the room. She tells her this morning she went to her room and knocked on the door but there was no answer. She goes on to tell her that the person designing the wedding invitations is on his way. She tells Marcella that she thinks something bad has happened.

A “concerned” Marcella goes to Vicky’s room and notices it to be a mess and sees Vicky sprawled across her bed. She asks her whats wrong. Victoria lies and tells her nothing. She goes on to tell her supper was great. Daniel told her how much he loves her. Vicky seemed just a bit freaky as she continued talking to Marcella telling her how much he cares for her. Marcella wants to know if he liked the rings and Victoria tells her he loved them. Marcella asks her if that’s the case why so much drinking last night? Continuing with her little fantasy lie she tells Marcella she just wanted to keep on celebrating. Marcella chews her out and reminding her how many times she has told her that women shouldn’t drink. It lacks class. She is a famous model after all. She says at least you did it here.

Marcella tells her she is glad everything went okay. She says she was a little worried about what might happen at the supper. Victoria complains about a headache and Marcella chides that’s what happens when you drink. She then tells her the invitation guy is on his way over but she will have Renata call and cancel it. A glassy eyed Victoria tells her not to cancel the designer guy. The invitations have to be ready for the wedding. Marcella seems surprised at this but Victoria assures her she is fine to meet with the designer. Marcella tells her okay and that now she believes her about everything going just fine last night. After Marcella leaves Crazy Vicky thought bubbles “for now everything will go as planned. Until I dump you. And later I will kill you.” as she glares with malice at the photo of Daniel.

Leo is trying to cozy up to Eva. She isn’t none to friendly. He continues to tell her how bad he feels about the whole bet. She tells him she doesn’t want to talk to him.

Claudia has arrived for her two minutes of screen time and Victoria tells her all about her lousy supper. How Daniel broke off the engagement. She makes her promise not to tell anyone about it. We see Eva overhearing the entire conversation.

Victoria tells Claudia that Daniel told her he didn’t love her. She sarcastically says “Me. He just discovered he doesn’t love me.” As they are talking Victoria hears a noise and wants to know whose there.
Eva meekly enters telling her she has her aspirin she had asked for. Victoria takes the aspirin and shoos her away. Victoria is still concerned how “her public” will react to the news. She tells Claudia that for now the wedding is still on. She also tells Claudia in a most menacing voice that Daniel won’t be forgetting about her soon.

We have a brief moment where Eva is alone in her room all smiles. She is saying “It is certain he isn’t going to get married.

Bruno has sent Marcella flowers. Marcella looking at the flowers says to herself “Very good Bruno. Just like a gentlemen.” I had a little taste of bile in my mouth during that scene.

Marisol is telling Alicia that she found a house. Alicia is surprised to hear it was Damian who found the house for her. She seems a little leery. Marisol tells her she was a little leery at first too until he told her why he was helping her. She tells Alicia she has a favor to ask. She needs someone to be the servant.

Julio is up and about with Max all smiles and energy as Eva takes the tray away noting he drank his tea with the medicine in it. She tells him the medicine is making him better. Julio smiles and looks towards the plant telling her he feels better already. (sly little codger)

Daniel is also all smiles at work and everyone notes it. He is getting ready for the big meeting. The meeting with the clients and Marcella in attendance turns out to be a big success and they have the green light to go ahead with the project. Again everyone notes how content Daniel is and Marcella chimes in “Of course he is happy. After all he is going to marry my daughter.” Daniel has a fleeting look of panic.

Julio hands Eva a book on Public Relations. She thanks him profusely. He tells her (I think) that when he reincorporates his business he wants to bring her with him. He has big plans for her.

Fran sneaks into the Arismante house and tells Eva she has to find a way to sneak out for a bit. Eva tells him she can’t do that. He urges her to invent something. But her and Daniel have to talk today.

Jacky tells Laurita she has something great to tell her but she can’t tell anyone. She tells her Daniel is not going to marry Victoria. Laurita all smiles says “Are you sure? Poppi isn’t going to marry that witch?” In that instant we get a scene of Eva dressed in a long blue dress walking towards Daniel on the beach. And we go back to an overjoyed Laurita who is hugging her puppy. Jacky tells her the best part is he isn’t going to marry Victoria because the person he truly loves is Eva. Laurita is squealing with Joy as she pumps her fist in the air.

There was a quick little scene thrown in towards the end but I am going to add it now so I don’t have to cut into our lovely last scene. Fran has arrived at the penthouse. We see Alicia in a scant little maids outfit telling him to come in. Fran looks at her and asks if they have met before. We get a little flashback from the night Fran was waiting outside the pension and Alicia was out there. She tells Fran he has her confused with someone else.

Daniel and Eva are on the beach. He tells Eva he went to look for her last night at her house. He tells her he talked to Victoria and there isn’t going to be a wedding. Eva tells him she knows. Daniel seems surprised that she would know and asks if Fran told her. Eva tells him no, she overheard Victoria telling her friend. Daniel says “well fine at least it confirms that everything I have been telling you is true.”
Eva is concerned about how they are going to do this. Daniel assures her that all they have to do is talk truthfully. Eva is still not convinced and calls Daniel Crazy. He smiles and asks her if she is afraid of men who are in love. He confesses that he is completely in love with her Eva is still leery and warns Daniel not to play with her. He tells her this is not a bet. It is not a lie. It is the most serious moment in his life. She tells him this is crazy.

He tells her yes “craziness of love” He tells her he couldn’t sleep last night because he was thinking about her. He tells her (I think) that if he had never met her he would have made the worse mistake of his life. He was about to marry a woman he did not love. A women he never loved. Eva tells him this feels like a dream and she does not want to wake up. Daniel tells her to open her eyes and believe it because it is the truth.

Now walking hand in hand on the beech Daniel is telling Eva that they knew it from the first time they saw each other. From the first kiss they had. They knew they were in love. They were just afraid to tell each other. Than he says “that’s how it was right?” And we fade away with music and hesitation at first and then a very long kiss.

Llena de Amor #88 (Mex. 93) Wed 12/15/10 She's a he, he's a she, she's not herself, the queen's a fraud.

Judy and I are doing tradesies again tonight. Enjoy your evening Miss Judy!I realized that in this show there are a lot of people pretending to be someone else. Mari is Victoria, Gretel is Manolo, Eman's pretending to be Ilitia's husband, she his wife, Juana is Fedra, someone is el Lirio de Plata, etc. It's very confusing!

We get a few flashbacks from last night and a tantalizing preview of Mari making a crank call to Fedra. It’s kinda creepy except for Fedra’s horrified look so OK, we’ll be cool with it.

From last night: it’s up against the wall for MariVicki. Will Eman kiss her?

Ilitia won’t tell Brandon the truth about Agent O. He begs her to give him something against Orangey. Her beautiful eyes well up with tears and he starts guessing the truth. Tell him!! But she denies that Agent O raped her. Gah!! Then she wants daddy’s gun back but of course Brandon’s got to keep it for evidence of something or other.

Brandon suggests that since Orangey is her BFFs boyfriend that Ilitia is jealous. She tells him to remember that he is the first one she came to when she needed help. He let her down and she’ll never forgive him. He gazes pensively at her wake.

MariVicki pushes Eman away. She flashes back to Eman and his gordita then tells him he’s a damn liar. He wants to know who sewed these seeds of hate in her, was it Mari? Why does she hate him so much?

They stop talking and try to communicate via mental telepathy. She thought bubbles that she hates him because he destroyed her life and her dreams. He thought bubbles what is going on with this woman? There’s something about her but it’s not her looks. She thought bubbles “Kiss me you fool”. He thought bubbles “I can’t resist you”.

There is a knock at the door and MariVicki leaves Eman puckering up to the empty air. She hugs Andres her rescuer.

Oliver and Doris are dancing up a storm. Dang he’s got the moves. Me next, me next! Frowny Gretelman arrives and sucks up some suds for consolation. The winners of the dance contest are…Oliver and Doris!! Ollie’s so happy he even hugs Manolo, whose flattened chest heaves and huffs in heightened ecstasy. So near and yet so far.

Andres is surprised to find our duo at the office after hours, much less half clad. He asks Eman why didn’t he just use his keys to get out? He knows he has a set because he made copies for Andres. This is a good excuse for MariVicki to slap Eman AGAIN and stomp out of the office. She grabs his pants for good measure as she and Andres head for home. Eman gives her a parting flash of his undies so she takes his jacket too. Now we know how he ends up wearing her black and white headbands, I mean skirt and top.

Doris, Ollie and Gretelman are in the club basking in their victory. Doris runs into Mari’s old friend Carolina who takes a shine to the suave Spaniard. Gretelman raises his fake eyebrows with interest. That is until he’s forced onto the dance floor. I wonder who’s gonna lead?

Axel bursts into Delicia’s room to tell her that he feels awful about the way he treated Mari. He needs to call her in Spain right away. Delicia sighs in exasperation. Mari is married and living in another country, now out of my room young Mr. Dumbass.

Poor Axel, rebuffed by his only friend he wanders the halls and overhears his parents talking about him. Momster dearest is on a tear and snarls that he’s got his memory back and she fears he’ll regress to his prior predilections and become a mockery of society. Emiliano regrets the way he treated Axel before and asserts that his son is a marvelous and noble human being. He orders his wife to respect Axel’s decisions. Fine but these four walls are driving her crazy and this is a good excuse for her to escape, probably for some much-needed horizontal therapy.

Axel smiles and tells his father how much his words and support mean to him. Whew! At last these two are on the same side.

Uh oh, a slow song breaks out in the club. Gretelman squirms with discomfort and Ollie tells Doris he thinks Mano bats for the other team. Doris says he’s just timid. The cute Carolina puckers up for a kiss and Gman scrunches his/her face in disgust.

It’s time for a father to son talk. Emiliano truly regrets the way he treated Axel before. Axel tells him he always thought Emiliano preferred Eman because he was the champion, the winner. Axel never felt that his dad was proud of him. Emi takes responsibility for Axel thinking that way and he’ll support Axel in whatever he wants to do. Axel says music is his life. Emi’s ready to help, let’s start with tuning the guitar! (OK, he didn’t say that exactly.) Ax sez there’s a problem, Bernardo stole his guitar.

Caro comes on too strong to Gretelman “el timido” and he pushes her onto the floor. Oops, bad move there Gretel.

Brandon gets home and Consuelo, big chops grinning like a hungry she-wolf, lunges in his general direction. She’s thwarted by Mama Gladiola who wants to dote on her son. Consuelo huffs off and Glad asks Brandon does Consuelo seem a bit jealous to you?

Ilitia recalls her pre-wedding morning of horror and Brandon’s words that if Malicio ravaged her it’s because she was looking for it. (Really, that’s an unbelievably dreadful thing to say in any situation. Shame shame shame on you Brandon!!) “It’s a lie,” cries Ilitia. As she bites her knuckles Emanuel tries to sneak into the house wearing MariVicki’s super-stretchy headbands. And he’s got the pantyhose on too!

Mari gets home wearing Eman’s shirt and pants (that miraculously fit) and is intercepted by Netty who wants to know what she’s doing with Eva’s ashes and other things that Mari would never but never let out of her possession. Eh? MariVicki has the commercial break to think up an excuse.

Gladiola joins in the inquisition and the two lovely matriarchs form an impenetrable barrier of righteous indignation. Netty goes off on MariVicki but MV’s not about to be bullied, she tells Netty that if Netty thinks she’s there with bad intentions then she’ll just pack her stuff and go that very night. The battle of the jutting chins ensues.

Ilitia scolds Eman while he scratches his legs. Eman, those pantyhose sure can itch if you haven’t depilated properly. She demands to know how he can go out of the house in such a getup. (Fachas, I couldn’t find a good translation. Help?) He says it’s not a getup, it’s evening wear. Fine, she wants to talk about the wedding night debacle but then remembers she demanded an explanation. What’s with the getup? He says he worked late, had to borrow an outfit from the company, and now he needs to take a bath. (That’s it for the cross-dressing, it just kind of petered out, no pun intended.) Ilitia mutters he’s up to something and she wants to know what it is.

Brandon writhes on his bed showing off his six-pack and muttering that Ilitia is driving him crazy. He throws a vase, breaks it and thinks about their hot kiss. Speaking of crazy, Consuelo sneaks in and announces she wants to spend the night with him and make sweet love. Ah Caray, he says, while more or less checking her out.

Oliver scolds Gretelman for pushing Carolina. Gman gets very indignant, s/he tripped and s/he doesn’t attack women, OK? Ollie says it’s very clear, Gman doesn’t like to be around women. Gman leaves in a huff and Doris follows. Oliver’s all Que the hell with those two? “Claro” sez Caro, those two are in love.

Netty grabs MariVicki, shakes her and demands to know what she did with Mari!! MariVicki thinks fast and says Mari wanted Vicki to deliver Eva’s ashes to Netty because she thought Netty deserved the honor of watching over them. (I think that’s what she said.) Netty makes some great facial contortions and hopes she didn’t hurt Vicki’s little arms.

Consuelo is all over Brandon like white on rice. I’ll give her one thing, she’s very focused. She persists. He weakens. Will he or won’t he?

More sucking face but this is over at the big house. Gross, it’s Spiderus and Nereida sharing toxic spit. They are interrupted by a bang on the door and Emiliano’s booming voice. Spidey pushes her under the bed, tucks it into his pants, answers the door, and gets a punch in the face. Hooray for dad!! Kick the goat-sucker out! He reminds Spidey he’s nothing more than an employee. Spidey says he was just following Fedra’s orders. Axel reports that Bernardo also smacked him in the face. This gets Spidey a punch in the eye for good measure. Emiliano tells him to pack his bags, turn over his keys and leave. (I swear Spidey thumbs his nose at Axel.) Nereida is agog at the performance and Spidey tells her Axel is going to regret this. This was probably my favorite scene of the evening.

Brandon sees Ilitia in his bed, smiles, then shakes the image away. It’s Consuelo underneath him, yelling “Si, si” and grabbing his head.

Ilitia tells Eman she’s not ready to sleep with him yet although she’s not entirely happy that he’s sleeping in Mari’s old room. She still blames the stupid fatty for all their problems. He tells her sorry but Mari is the woman he has loved most in his life.

Emiliano listens to Axel croon his sad song and tells him how impressed he is. He can’t believe he didn’t know about Axel’s talent all these years. He says Netty was right, their house has lots of money but not enough love. Axel asks “you’re in love with Netty, right?” Dad says his feelings toward Netty are pure and honest. Axel says if you love her then dump the Momster and fight for her. Emi says he’s bummed that none of his kids is happy and he needs Axel more than ever.

Netty apologizes to MariVicki and they make up. Netty asks Vicki to promise that Mari is fine. Vicki thought bubbles a bunch of crap about how she’d love to tell Netty who she really is but she can’t, she simply can’t. After Netty leaves MariVicki vows she can’t reveal her true identity until she fulfills her promise to Tia Carlota, to destroy Fedra Curiel and make her suffer as much as she made her mother suffer. Works for me.

Fedra is at Lowrenzo’s love shack and cheers herself up by reminding him of how she punished him that one time. He wants to change the subject and ease her tension. “Call me your queen,” she wheedles. Blech.

Her phone rings, oh goodie the crank call! Fedra answers and the mysterious voice that sounds exactly like Marianela tells Fedra that soon everyone will know the truth…that she’s really Juana Felipe Perez!

Mañana = Mari and Gretel plot against Fedra. Fedra sees a headline proclaiming that she, socialite hostess, is the most corrupt in the country. Vicki gets Eman in trouble with Ilitia

Dicho (Garduno said this to Brandon last week when Brandon kep pestering him for information):

Otra vez la burro al trigo = Here we go again with the same old crap. It’s the same old story. (Lit. Once again the female burro goes to the wheat.)

Fachas – getup, appearance (I think)

Me decepcionaste = You let me down

Me sacas de mis casillas = You’re driving me crazy

Mofas de la sociedad = taunts of society

La Verdad Oculta #066: The reappearance of Javier Garnica

In Alejandra's studio, amid a garden of red roses, she effuses to Mina that what she likes most is Juan José's apology. At David's office, he phones first the lawyers to urgently draw up papers concluding the Ávila-Genovés contract -- and then Gabriela, but anxiously hangs up before Gabriela can refuse to speak with him.

Leonardo stops by the girls' apartment, where Julieta is a little downhearted to note his rekindled interest in her sister. At the prison, Marcos spills to an incarcerated Ávila goon that he'd like to sell a letter revealing Carlos's murder rap and frame-up job to Adolfo for the benefit of his girlfriend on the outside.

Back at the studio, Mina opines that Juan José really loves Alejandra and can change. Continuing at the prison, the goon tells lawyer Garnica he will atone for his lost shipment with information about the letter and reveals Susana's location.

At Mario's, Susana complains the household is going to hell without a housekeeper; and worried Alejandra takes the chance to plead Bertha's case to David. They need a housekeeper, and moreover Bertha is terrified Adolfo is a smuggler. Alejandra admits Bertha stole the photos -- but not the last one, and David relents.

Across the way, David tells Abelardo at the tunnel house that Santiago will have to sign the concluding contracts; and when Abelardo reminds him Mario's will stipulates David represents them now, he points out they are all hiding a death and impersonation. If Roberto talks, they'll be in trouble with Leonardo.

David says since Bertha did not steal the photo it must be someone else; and when Abelardo lists Susana's hiring details, he trails off realizing they don't bear scrutiny. At Roberto's hotel, he checks out; but not before cheerily dismissing Félix, who pulls a face showing someone spoiled his fun.

Carlos encounters Roberto at the elevators, and a check at the desk confirms he stayed there. At the mansion, David cozies nervous Susana with an apology about the photo accusation and asks if she knows Roberto or Adolfo, which she denies. Meanwhile, it turns out Garnica is an investor in a beach project of Mauricio.

At his architectural studio, Garnica tells him he needs a yacht dock to bring some other prospective investors from America, and Mauricio assures he will make arrangements for it with a private club there. The prospective investors supposedly have tourist travel connections everywhere to aid their destination project.

Carlos visits Yolanda at her condo and fills her in on the break with his dad -- the worst part being Adolfo ruined his one point of pride: being a good professional. He had the club functioning like clockwork, making huge profits. But in fact it was a farce, since Adolfo was robbing the Genovés blind.

The one thing he had going on David evaporated; they were always rivals, with David luckier in the romance department -- especially hurtful with Gabriela. And then David's accusation they were thieves turned out to be true! And on top of that, his father is a smuggler! The shoes, the photos, the guards on Roberto.

Carlos's sure Roberto is blackmailing Adolfo; but the worst thing is he can't stand they framed a guy who spent eleven years in jail for his sake -- the guy who just gave him the cuts and bruises. Carlos astounds Yolanda with the account of the maid's murder, which she apparently hadn't known.

David phones Julieta again fruitlessly; and when they hang up, Gabriela maintains she plans to divorce him. She thinks David never wanted to marry her, but had to when Mario caught him. Beginning to cry, she says what hurts is all the time she was falling in love with him, he was just figuring how to get her into bed.

When Julieta insists that David seems to love her and that it's Gabriela's pride talking, Gabriela points out that's all she's got left. Back at Yolanda's, she sweetly encourages Carlos to come live with her; but he gently declines saying he's looking for an apartment and a job. He doesn't intend to rat on his dad.

But if he finds out Adolfo plans to kill someone, he will try to prevent it. Not for Adolfo's sake, but for the other person! As they kiss goodbye, Adolfo enters with a dirty look; and after his exit, Yolanda reveals pointedly that Carlos knows and told her everything -- including the maid's murder and frame up of Juan José.

Adolfo's not impressed, insisting Carlos is as guilty as Roberto, and that he had to frame someone to protect himself, not Carlos. If Carlos wound up in prison, no telling what he might learn in there about him. Adolfo's also not impressed about Juan José or his greater fortune -- or David's dubious evidence.

At Mario's, Alejandra phones Bertha with news she can return, admonishing to cut out the stupid stuff. Hanging up, she texts Juan José, who smiles to read her thank-you note and phones his "princesita." At her remark that the flowers cost a fortune, he ruefully responds: well, big mistake -- big apology, hm?

They make plans to talk at dinner the next evening. Leonardo finds Ramón in a cafe and scolds him for eating with work to be done; but Ramón fills him in about the near-fake wedding, foiled by Mario threatening the "judge" with police. And also about Roberto, who comes from a good family, but compromised.

He couldn't find him at his address, doesn't have a job; but the "judge" claims Roberto presumes on Adolfo and the Genovéses. Back at Mario's, David continues cozying Susana by offering her a better paying position as his secretary's assistant, which idea she likes.

At the tunnel house, David tells Santiago he will have to sign the end contract in ten days. Later, with Santiago missing and worried about his girls, Abelardo offers to get some Chihuahua friends to send the girls a money order from there to avert suspicion.

In Mario's office, David advises the security head to follow Susana. In the kitchen she receives a call from Garnica to meet him about Marcos's letter offer. Alejandra visits Santiago in Mario's bedchamber and explains Bertha's return and her fear of smuggler Adolfo. Santiago's happy to hear about Juan José's red-rose gesture.

He feels like their situation should run smoother than his own jealousy toward Márta; Márta was a bad woman, but Alejandra is a good one. Juan José is sure to appreciate that; take his word for it, Santiago says with a smile. Outside, the security head follows Susana who has exited the house to meet Garnica at the corner.

In Garnica's car, Susana wants to speak to Marcos first about the blackmail letter before accepting Garnica's offer of $1 million pesos, which amount she confounds him by insulting. And at Adolfo's condo, he wants Félix to get rid of both Juan José and Roberto.

La Fea Más Bella #129-130 12/15/10 Heaven and Hell.

Capitulo 129.
Read Julie’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

This episode is too packed. There is no way to briefly summarize it; I can’t leave anything out. Read Julie’s recap so you don’t miss anything. I only have a few points I want to hit on.

Several times Lety vows that her love for him is eternal.

In his thinking chair, Fernando concludes that he can’t break the engagement. It was not Omar who supplanted Fern’s decision. Fernando did that by himself, and he summoned his own doom. Note that only two scenes later, Jorge Flores warns Lety of rough seas ahead.

Capitulo 130.
Read Amanda’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Lety wants to buy a St. Jude statue, but then she decides to wait until she is free of guilt and worthy of it. But Jorge Flores, the vidente, gives her a statue and says, “Take this. You’re gonna’ need it.” He “sees” an envelope and a letter. She needs to be strong, and any recapper needs to be strong to translate the papas-en-boca vidente. Amanda deserves a premio!

2. Fernando gives Lety a white rose and says it’s like her, pure and beautiful. But to himself he says, “I’m sorry, Lety. I promised break the engagement, but I can’t. Even though I’m working against myself, I have to marry her.

3. Marcia calls Fernando to thank him for the engagement ring. Fernando is speechless. Marcia says she was afraid she’d lost him, and Fern says he never considered canceling the wedding (ba$tard!).

4. Fernando tells Lety to bring him Zoom’s (02134?) yellow envelope from his briefcase. Lety finds two, so she opens the first one and finds The Letter. Mi estimado presidente.. Lety cries a river of tears. Cristina finds Lety crying and tries to help, but Lety cowers.

5. Fernando tells Omar, “Don’t help me, Omar. You just put me into problems and more problems.” (Boy howdy!) He continues, “The thing I want least at this point in my life is to marry Marcia.”

6. Cristina keeps trying, but Lety says that a beautiful woman like her couldn’t understand. Men want her, while they only use and laugh at Lety. Cristina says she was an ugly duckling until she learned to love herself, and men only want her for bragging rights. She says a crisis is also an opportunity, the night is always darkest before the dawn, and a full soul makes one beautiful.

7. Carolina whisks Fernando and Luigi away to check a venue for the Cannes event.

Llena de Amor #87 (Mex. 92) Tue 12/14/10 Horndogs run amok.

Caveat lector, folks. I was reconfiguring my various entertainment apparati and now I can’t get the closed captions to work. May have more mistakes than usual tonight. As always, please offer corrections if you’ve got ‘em.
Repeating from last night, MariVicky has stayed late at the agency to finish her proposal for the campaign. I’m glad she has finally called them out on the crappiness of their publicity work…we shall see whether she’s any better. Emanuel is impressed with what she’s done, but I don’t know whether that’s saying anything. She’s ready to leave, but he says there’s a nuclear war and they have to stay in the shelter. Well, not that, but the doors are locked and CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE WITHOUT A KEY, which he left at home. Alrighty then, they’re stuck here for the night, together. MariVicky rolls her eyes.
Over at the police station, Oliver complains to Brandon some more about the handsy newshound. Brandon is not as sympathetic as Ollie would like. Brandon gets a call on his radio about a 5-4 in progress and heads out, ordering Oliver to stay. Good dog.
MariVicky is hyperventilating, calling for help at the front door of the agency. Emanuel strolls after her, unconcerned. He reiterates that the night watchman is definitely not coming; Emanuel gave him the night off since he and his wife just had a baby. Mari resumes yelling and banging on the door. Emanuel tells her to stop shouting, because no one can hear her…just like the murderer says to the lass he’s kidnapped in horror stories. Mari suggests they call the firefighters to get them out. Emanuel pretends to be excited about this great idea…but wait. He “remembers” that there’s a security system on the phones so they won’t work after hours (as if), and his cell phone battery is dead. Well, darn, they have no option but to spend the night here together. No freaking way, says Mari. Emanuel seductively munches chocolates at her.
Across town, Mauricio is also held hostage, at the end of Ilitia’s gun. He tries to calm her down and talk her out of shooting him. Don’t listen to him, Ilitia. Plug that orange full of holes like bullets were cloves. Ilitia cries that because of what he did, she hasn’t been able to enjoy any intimacy with her new husband. “I told you being with me would ruin you for all other men,” he smarms. He doesn’t think she’ll actually shoot. Besides, he tells her, she shouldn’t get her hands dirty and go to prison; he’s the one who should go to jail. Ilitia says she doesn’t want to get him sent to jail just for him to get out two days later; she’s going to put an end to him here and now. She pulls the trigger…but the gun isn’t loaded. Agent O laughs. Ilitia huddles against the wall and he creeps in close and grabs her.
Oh, gross, Axel and Lorena are in bed, basking in…whatever, I don’t want to know how they went from that big fight to this. Did Axel lose his memory again? Oh, wait, guess not. Lorena wants a second chance at their relationship. Axel says he got what he wanted and he’ll call when he wants more, but in the meantime, he doesn’t want to see or hear from her. He tosses some money at her and heads into the bathroom.
Back to the police station. GretelMan apologetically tries to explain his/her behavior at the raid to Oliver. He was just nervous, first time out reporting during big dangerous action and all. “Oh, so we hired a reporter with no experience? You lost your virginity with me?” Oliver asks. Manolo/Gretel is totally flustered. “What?” Manolo/Gretel says he was just worried when he thought Oliver was hurt; that’s why he messed up the operation; so sorry. Oliver says if they’re going to work together, Manolo needs to manage his meandering manos, understand? He marches around the desk and grabs Manolo by the collar, pulling him up close to reinforce the threat. Doris bursts into the office and Oliver pretends to be friendly with Manolo. He says he’s going to teach Manolo to be a proper manly man, like so: Oliver grabs Doris and pulls her close and does his best seductive sweet-talk act at her, while Doris alternately cooperates with the demonstration and shoots alarmed looks at Gretel. Steam is pouring out of Gretel’s ears.
Lorena encounters Delicia in the hallway on her walk of shame. She claims everything is hunky-dory with her adoring hunk, who forgave her everything. So how about Delicia fetches him a glass of juice to replenish all the energy he expended?
Mari paces the agency foyer, trying to forestall the nervous breakdown. I am still stunned by her choice of office attire. Her skirt, which is only about two inches long to begin with, seems to have a slit right in the front. I guess in publicity school they don’t teach you to leave anything to the imagination. Emanuel drives around the corner in a little-kid electric car. Mari decides she’s locked in a manicomio. Emanuel says he’s going to find them something to eat. Mari says she’s not hungry, she just wants to leave. Eman wonders why she can’t stand to be around him. She must like André instead, right? “Sure, he’s a hottie,” Mari agrees. “He has what you lack.” He-manuel jumps out of his hot little red convertible and grabs Mari, pulling her tightly against him. I guess he figures since she’s already accused him of sexual harassment, he may as well actually do it. He tells her not to provoke him, or she’ll pay the consequences.
Another office, another unwanted abrazo. Doris tries to get Oliver to leave her alone. She reminds him they are just friends. Oliver shoots pointed looks at Manolo while pinning Doris against the door and lustily saying they should be more than friends, because he can’t stop thinking about her. GretelMan can’t take it anymore and launches a gentlemanly defense of Doris. Oliver is ready to settle it with fisticuffs, but GretelMan says something about him being on guard all night (I think?). GretelMan puts his/her arm around Doris and says they’re going to dinner together. They waltz out. Oliver entertains us with a spirited impersonation of Manolo, then chases after them.
Agent Orange throws Ilitia onto the sofa and starts on round two of rapey snakiness. She fights hard, to no avail.
Mari tries to throw a phallic objet d'art through the glass to escape. Emanuel takes the thing away from her. He’s got dinner. She does not care to join him. He asks why she’s so hostile and bitter. He takes a seat and invites her to sit down for a little therapy chat. He’s got some theories about her psyche he’d like to discuss. Oddly, Mari is not interested in that. Emanuel suggests they toast. He picks up the big soda bottle he’s been lugging around and jiggling, opens it, and naturally shoots most of the contents all over Mari’s inadequate clothing. {Total aside here…is that fire extinguisher case behind Mari empty? They’d really better hope they don’t have a fire, with no extinguisher and no way to call the bomberos (ha, as if).} Mari accuses him of spraying her on purpose. He claims innocence, not at all convincingly. MariVicky says this is just another of the terrible mean jokes Mari told her he loves. He does find the whole thing very funny, which makes her more mad.
Here he comes to save the day. Rapus interruptus as Ilitia’s knight in shining pink polo shirt swaggers in, gun pointed at Malicio. Bet this one is loaded, too.
Emanuel tells MariVicky she deserved this because she’s been so rude. But she can take a shower in the dressing room. “And then what? I have no other clothes.” She says he set the whole thing up. “Do you really think I planned all this, so you’d have to take off your dress and I could hop in the shower with you?” “Don’t even think about trying to get a look at me naked, because it will be the last thing you ever see. I’ll tear your eyes out.” She stomps off toward the shower while Emanuel covers his eyes with his hands, peeking through his fingers.
Which, coincidentally, is how I usually watch Malicio’s scenes. But this one I can watch with eyes wide open, because the skunk doesn’t have the upper hand. Ilitia cowers behind Brandon, who still has the gun aimed at the vermin. She urges him to shoot, which Mau offers as proof that he’s the victim here. Brandon demands an explanation of what’s going on. Malicio says Ilitia came here with a gun and shot him, and it’s a miracle it wasn’t loaded and he’s still alive. But he and Ilitia have been lovers for two years. “Liar! This ratbastard ruined my life!” Ilitia tells Brandon. Malicio claims she’s just trying to erase her history now that she’s married. Brandon holsters his gun and says they’ll both have to come down to the station and file a report. Mal says he’s not going anywhere. Right here, he is going to accuse Ilitia of attempted murder, and if she isn’t thrown in jail, he’ll accuse Brandon of covering it up.
Delicia sadly gathers up Axel’s strewn bed linens. He comes out of the bathroom, clad in only a towel, and tries to approach her. “Don’t touch me! What, did Lorena leave you unsatisfied, and now you want to have a little fun with me, too?” He wants to explain, but she doesn’t want to hear his lame stories. He recovered his memories, but he still is with Lorena, and Delicia is left all alone. “Stop telling me lies about how you like me and want to kiss me,” she says tearily. “They aren’t lies! I really do like you!” “That is not true. If it were, you wouldn’t still be carrying on with that slut, especially after what she did to you!” Delicia departs, and Axel tells himself he’s an idiot. He is not wrong.
It’s getting late, and Netty is worried that Vicky hasn’t come home from the agency of vipers yet. Also, she wants to ask about Eva’s ashes in the suitcase. Gladiola suggests they ask Vicky’s brother. Well, he hasn’t turned up yet, either! He must still be at the police station with Oliver. Gladiola says Doris went down there to find him, and speaking of…that silly girl wants to be Oliver’s novia! What a terrible idea. Netty says he’s a great guy…but yes, there is the minor roadblock of his being helplessly still in love with Gretel. However, Netty thinks that’s even more reason they should date…it might help him forget Gretel. Gladiola doesn’t like the idea of ruining a good friendship for a noviazgo that will never work. It’s as ridiculous as if Brandon and Consuelo were to suddenly decide to be novios!
Doris, Oliver, and GretelMan are in a bar with a dance floor. Oliver is shakin’ it to the music, and Doris nags him to go get the beers. Oliver thinks Manolo should do it, but oh, wait, the only man here is Oliver. Apparently only men can walk to the bar to get the beer, so Oliver heads over. Once he’s gone, Doris and Gretel scoot together for a confab. I am really having trouble hearing clearly over the music…captions would be nice here…but I think Doris asks about the articles GretelMan is writing and GM remembers having left something in the police station…or needs to send the article before morning…or something…and Doris suggests they go back to Brandon’s office to take care of it. Gretel says she can go by herself and Doris should stay here with Oliver. Doris warns her to be very careful, out by herself at night. GM flings his/her arms in a flamenco-style display of manliness just as Oliver returns to the table.
Still at the dance bar, an emcee announces a dance contest. Oliver says Doris could sign up with this louse Manolo, although he probably has two left feet. GretelMan suggests Oliver isn’t exactly qualified, either. Oliver says he’s not only qualified, he will win. GM heads out to the police station (with another “be careful!” from Doris), and Oliver and Doris go to sign up for the contest.
Delicia’s doing the laundry. Axel comes in and wants to explain. She says he doesn’t have to explain anything; she’s just an employee and he can do whatever he wants. His hair looks like he sprayed it whilst being struck by lightning. Axel insists that he was just very angry and acted without thinking. He just wanted revenge against Lorena. “Great revenge. She left grinning from ear to ear.” Axel reminds Delicia that she was the one who insisted they just be friends. “But I really like you, and not just to have fun with for a little while. When you decide you want a serious relationship, let me know.”
Fedra punches at her calculator and cackles over the amount Netty owes on her mortgage. She’ll never be able to pay that off with an actor’s salary! Hahahahaha. Bernardo flounces in and tells her Axel has recovered his memory. “Do you know what this means?!”
Mari’s in the shower at the agency, wondering how she could have fallen in love with that jerk, and wondering even more why she’s STILL in love with him, even though he tried to kill her. She decides she’s got to cure herself of this illness. Out in the dressing room, Emanuel approaches, asking himself why he’s so attracted to this woman. Well, it can’t be helped. He strips off his jacket and shirt. Mari steps out of the shower and shrieks when she sees him, quickly clutching a towel against herself. Emanuel tells her to relax; he sees women mostly undressed all the time; it’s part of his job. He neglects to point out that she’s had the goods on display all day long. He just took off his shirt so she could wear it, since her dress is soaked. Mari reluctantly grabs the shirt.
Alone in Brandon’s office, GretelMan calls Jairo and tells him s/he’s got a hot story for him. Fedra Curiel is dangerous, but they will not rest until her evil deeds are brought to light.
Fedra’s flipping out. Spiderus reminds her that the doctors said Axel could regain his memory at any time. Now that he has, what do they do? Fedra wants Spidey to erase Axel’s mind. “Erase what, mom?” Axel asks, strolling in. Spidey scuttles away and Fedra puts on her best caring mommy act. Axel is not falling for it. “Who do you think you’re fooling?! You are not going to manipulate me again!” Fedra reflexively falls into her pouty “I only ever wanted the best for my children” routine, but Axel lets her have it with both barrels. She ruined his childhood with the whorehouse visit; she wrecked everything else about his life like she did to his siblings, and he regrets ever having defended her! The Momster says he’s an ingrate; who is he to judge her?! If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t even exist! “Well, it’s not my fault I was ever born! But if God had asked me, I swear I would have asked to be born to another woman!”
When Mari reappears wearing the shirt that is completely indecent and yet covers more than the dress she was wearing all day on purpose, Emanuel has a romantic dinner all set up in the stark white studio. The studio curiously seems to also contain a bed. Getting ahead of himself, isn’t he? Emanuel admires Mari’s hotness and invites her to sit. Mari hesitates and has a little flashback of the romantic night they spent together in the studio. She starts to walk away, and Eman hurries to remind her that they can’t leave, so she might as well eat something, and he’s even fixed up a bed in case she wants to rest! Mari remembers the day she and Kristel “caught” Ilitia and Emanuel in a compromising position. She gets annoyed and Emanuel assures her his intentions are pure. She asks how many women he’s had in that bed. He thinks about that for a few moments, then changes the subject. If they’re going to work together, they should agree to a truce. He gets all close and flatters her while she gets all hot and bothered. Just as he’s about to kiss her, she pushes him away angrily. Mari says she’s really uncomfortable, being half naked around him when he can’t control his impulses. To make things more fair, Emanuel takes off his pants and offers them to her. Somehow, that doesn’t help. She orders him to put them back on and behave himself.
Fedra follows Axel into his room, spewing her usual crap. Axel is mad as hell, and he is not taking it. He is furious that his mother took advantage of his vulnerable state to pay a girl he didn’t even like before to be his girlfriend. Fed insists she was just trying to make him a man, to save him from the ugly things people were saying about him, that he was [something censored]. Axel says now he remembers every one of her lies and deceits, and how she turned him against his father and Marianela. She made him believe Mari was destroying the family, but it was Fedra the whole time! Fedra slaps him across the face.
Emanuel has declined to wear pants. He pulls Mari over to the table to eat. They continue to fight and Mari yanks the tablecloth, knocking the food and wine all over the floor. She struts out, and Eman nearly falls off his chair to get a good look at the rear view.
In the home office, Emiliano pulls from his briefcase a copy of TV y Novelas with Netty Pavon on the cover. He reaches into his drawer and takes out some of his collection of other magazines, all of which feature Netty, and smokily intones that he can’t forget her. He feels like he’s failed her family, though, and his brother, by not protecting Marianela. Ever since she left the household just hasn’t been the same. Emanuel even went through with a terrible marriage to drown his loneliness. And Emiliano is stuck in hell with a woman he doesn’t love. In another drawer, Emiliano finds the papers about Netty’s mortgage and is stunned. No, he won’t permit this. {I am stunned that he keeps the Netty magazines in an office Fedra uses, and the whole place hasn’t been burned down.}
Netty’s sitting on her bed with the case of Eva’s ashes, crying. Gladiola tells her this is kind of rude, and she should just wait until Vicky gets home to ask her about it. Netty shows her the framed photo of Eva she also found while rudely rooting through Vicky’s luggage, and says Mari would never have parted with it unless she were dead. She will not rest until she finds out what is going on!
Mari and Emanuel fight some more. She’s annoyed that he seems to be fixated on prettiness in women and doesn’t care what’s in their heads. He insists that although he is stunned by her great beauty, he is absolutely interested in her mind. But he thinks she’s cold, empty, and insensitive. Mari picks up a metal ball and threatens to throw it at him. He treats this as a game, not believing she’ll do it. “I’m going to kill you the way you killed me, Emanuel Ruith y de Teresa,” she thinks, and she chucks the ball, hitting him square in the forehead. He collapses in the chair, unconscious, and she runs over and grabs his face, trying to wake him up.
Brandon escorts Ilitia into his office and agrees that he knows Malicio is a ratbastard, but he doesn’t have any proof. If Ilitia has any, she should cough it up. Ilitia cries and says it wouldn’t do any good; he’d probably just spend a few days in jail and he’d be out again with vengeance on his mind. He already ruined her life. Brandon says as far as he knows, Ilitia and Malicio have been lovers for years, and Ilitia must have liked it. He’s tired of her little tantrums.
Emanuel wakes up with an intense desire to kiss Vicky. He pins her against the wall. Fin de capítulo.
Mañana: Ilitia catches Emanuel sneaking into the house, wearing Marianela’s dress. Marianela makes a threatening anonymous call to Fedra.
