Teresa Mon 4/25/11 #27 The Sick and the Lying; #28 Aida and Genoveva Eat Crow; Mariano Gets El “NO”

P.1 -- The Sick and the Lying

Capítulo 27

As Viewerville eagerly dials in to see what shenanigans Teresa might pull tonight, Ruben del Bigote  Cáceres is making a serious play for her in his office; Armando and Johnny have gotten the boot by the new owner of the mechanic shop; and Refugio has stopped to chat with Esperanza on the sidewalk in between loads of laundry.

Teresa makes quick work of putting Reuben, who’s just told her he’s wanted her from the first time they met, in his place.  Tere’s up front about what she feels also.  Sure she wants the world with a ribbon tied around it—what self-respecting female wouldn’t--but it better include a wedding band and married life “como Dios manda” [the way things are supposed to be / the proper way] or nothin’ doin’.  He snickers.  (Like my first boss used to say knowledge is what you know, but wisdom is how you use it—and she knows firsthand  from Espe what to expect from Aida’s three-timin’, wick-dippin’ daddy.)  He can’t believe she’d hold out to marry the likes of boring Arturo de la Barerra.  She not only turns El Big-ego-te down flat, but she does a Mexican hat dance on his oversized ...er...family jewels as she struts out the door and waives adios.

Back at the barrio, Armie breaks into Refugio and Espe’s boring conversation to tell her he’s out of a job as of this morning due to the sale of the shop.  Ref has an attack and nearly passes out.  Espe and Armie get her back to the house and lay her down.  Espe checks her over and tells them to get her to a doctor, but in the mean time to have Mariano check her out as soon as he gets home.

Teresa gets to the prof’s house and seeing Luisa, turns on the waterworks and plays the victim for her.  Oh, the scandalous things the realty agent, Paulo’s mother, has been telling people about Tere and El Profe!  Tere tells Lu about the apartment search carefully sidestepping who it was purchased for, and how they all think it was her brother setting up house for Teresa!  “—Please don’t tell Arturo!  Just know that I appreciate having somebody to get it off my chest with, ok?”  (Ha! She knows Lu tells Artie Everything with a capital “E”!) Art comes into the room at that point and gives Tere a new palm-top and phone combo “for work”.

Back at Bigote’s office, matronly Maira stops by unexpectedly, to invite hubby to lunch but he’s not in the mood.  She complains that they haven’t had sex in quite a while and wonders what’s up—or rather why El Bigote’s hasn’t been.  He puts on a big act and says hey, they’re getting older and …things…change.  He pointedly refuses to kiss her on the mouth.  (Yep, if anything makes him feel his age right now, it’s got to be her.  What a drag!)  Anyway, he tells her he’s got a big meeting and can’t make the dinner date, and then essentially pushes her out the door.

Fito makes a play for Espe and asks her to go out with him.  She takes a call from Rubigote who wants to meet her at the love nest to discuss his ailing wife and a big decision he’s supposedly made.  She says fine.  Fito asks if the caller was a guy she’s interested in or not.  If  she is still on the market, Fito says, he won’t stop asking her out till she says yes.

At the hospital, Aurora’s daddy, Hector, tells Dr. Ledesma that he wants to meet Mariano.  He also mentions that he knows Teresa, his girlfriend. Ledesma mentions that he’s been giving Mar extra shifts to earn more money since Mar is thinking of getting married.

Johnny and Espe run into Nachita and tell her about Johnny’s losing his job.

At lunch with Aurora, Tere mentions Genoveva’s badmouthing her and El Profe.  Espe’s call comes in but she refuses to answer it.  Tere does call Gen to confirm a meeting with her over the paperwork for El Prof and then tells Aurora that she and Mariano “have done the deed.”  Tere pretty much gushes over their relationship, all the while seeming to purposely rub Aurora’s nose in it.  Aurora politely listens.

Speaking of Genoveva, she and Aida conspire to have Paulo at the closing on the apartment so he can see up close and personal what a gold-digger Teresa Chavez is.

At their love nest, Rubigote tells Esp that even though Maira has cancer, he’s going to ask for the divorce.  Espe refuses to allow him to add insult to injury, literally, considering that his wife’s disease is “advancing”.  She’ll forgo this condition to their getting back together again as a couple.  He invites her out to eat with him.  She declines because she’s got to get to work.  Once she’s out the door El Big Ego-te gives himself a pat on the back for the smooth way he maneuvered himself out of his divorce dilemma with Esperanza.  He decides to call Maira and accepts her lunch invitation at El Joy Restaurante after all.

Armie keeps Refugio on the couch and tells her he’s going to find another job, but she’s not working again till the doctors or Mariano tell her that she can.

Back at their lunch, Tere assures Aurora that she’s too smart to let herself get pregnant in this day and age.  Aurora says she hopes she can find as perfect a relationship as Teresa and Mariano’s.  Tere suggests her getting back into circulation again by throwing a big party.  Aurora says the house at Cuernavaca would be perfect and asks her for her keys to the house.

Gen and Tere meet to discuss the papers for the apartment.  Gen gives her grief for supposedly still going after Paulo and warns her off her son.  Tere tells her she was only at her house the other day to help with a school assignment and snickers at the way Gen seems so frightened that Paulo still loves her/wants her over Aida.  Gen denies it.  Tere asks her then why is she making a point of spreading rumors about her and El Profe setting up house together in that apartment???   (Viewerville loves the way this gal toys with her prey.  Teresa is such an Ace at playing Cat and Mouse!  Brava!!!  It’s mighty refreshing to see this in a telenovela heroine, mighty refreshing!)  Gen is tongue-tied impactada.

Lu, meanwhile, is chatting with Arturo.  She mentions the incident with their realtor, Paulo’s mama, and the way she’s been spreading rumors about Art and Tere over some apartment he’s buying for somebody.  Art is angry and says he won’t let them get away with that kind of thing.

Later that day, when Tere returns from lunch, he mentions that he heard from Lu what Genovesa’s been saying about the two of them.  Tere says she’s had to endure this for forever, so what’s one more time matter?  She doesn’t care as long as he doesn’t have that impression of her also.  He says not at all!  He won’t let the woman get away with it though and sully her reputation like this.  Besides, he flirts,  they’re both single and it shouldn’t matter; and if it were him, he wouldn’t be buying her an apartment.  No, it would be a huge beautiful house and they wouldn’t be lovers.  No, it would come with a marriage proposal.  They could marry each other, right, Teresa?  Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!  Arturo has just hit the daily double and peso signs light up in Teresa’s eyes.  $ $  Oh, any woman would be proud and happy to marry someone as distinguished and wonderful as he is, she fawns.  He’s a real catch [partidazo]!

Tere asks Artturo why he hasn’t married yet.  Art starts to explain but she doesn’t let him finish his sentence.  She brings up Paloma and he tells her that, thanks to her, Paloma is ancient history.  Any gossip, though, better not reach her parents.  They wouldn’t understand and they’d have a conniption fit.  She and he then reconfirm their contract and their commitment to follow its stipulations till she finishes school.  Their eyes meet and she gives him a look that has him believing she’s secretly sighing and pining away for him.

Across town, at the hospital, Dr. Ledesma brings Mariano in to meet the new hospital director.  Mariano and Hector are surprised to see that they already know each other from the emergency the day before.  Mar apologizes for not knowing who he was or thinking that he might be a doctor since he didn’t have on a white coat in there.  Hector tells Mar he did the right thing and handled himself perfectly, the entire time and then welcomes him into the world of the medical madhouse.  They shake on it.  Afterwards, Hector tells Ledesma that Mariano is an impressive young doctor who is everything his daughter told him he’d be.  In fact, he reminds him of himself at that age.

Later on, Aurora visits her daddy at the hospital and tells him she’s not sure whether to attend Univ. del Sur or the government university.  He’ll be teaching at the government’s university, he says, so he’ll be happy with either one.

Tere finds out about her mother’s attack from Espe on her way home.  She puts Ref to bed and tells her she doesn’t want to deal with Mar right now because she’s still mad he didn’t tell her about running into Aurora or, rather, that she “was back in town”.   Juana calls Mar to tell him about Ref’s attack because Tere won’t speak to him.

Juana comes back to say Mariano’s on his way and then she mentions to Tere that he left her a rose earlier.  This seems to soften up Teresa.  Tere goes to find the rose and then tells her little sister’s photo that she’s sure the prof has a thing for her now also.  She’s confused as to who to choose.

Meanwhile, Luisa and Artie discuss the “positive” conversation he had with Tere and how she told him to his face that she thought he was a great guy and how anybody would want to marry him.  He admits he didn’t have the right opportunity to declare himself to Tere, though.  Lu encourages him to tell Tere’s parents about his intentions so that they see him as a serious prospect.

Back in the barrio, Juana gives Cutberto grief for his continual drinking and womanizing.  FF>>

Aurora shows up at Tere’s for the keys and promises to bring a blood pressure monitor for her parents to use daily with Refugio.

On their way out of the barrio, Aurora and Tere run into Mariano on his way back home.  She greets him with a sensual kiss and thanks him for the rose.  Aurora looks like she’s ready to puke.  Mar’s still pissed and doesn’t react.  Aurora leaves.

Aida suggests to Paulo that he shows up at her daddy’s office for the signing and see for himself that the contract gives the apartment to Teresa.  He agrees.

Mar asks Tere why the big show of a kiss.  Did she suddenly have a change of heart or was it she magically was transformed into a good humor cuz  it was obvious to him that she only did it out of jealousy to mark her Tere-tory.  Tere says sure she’s jealous.  She figures she’s feeling the same way he did when she first started working for El Profe.  He tells her fine, but he’s not going to play those little games of hers any longer.  They kiss and make up.

Mariano examines Refugio and tells Tere and Armie that she needs tests done at the hospital.

The next morning Tere urges her daddy to find work and to make darn sure this time that it pays better or she’ll be forced to ask the professor for a salary.  He tells her he won’t hear of it and assures her he will be looking for a job that very day.  She heads off to work.

Outside, Fito runs into Johnny and offers him a job.

Armando goes to answer a knock at the door.  Arturo pokes his head in to see if he and his wife are available to chat.

P.2  Aida and Genoveva Eat Crow; Mariano Gets El “NO”

capítulo 28

Fito won’t tell Johnny what kind of work he’s offering, just that it’s going to pay a lot more and he won’t have to work as hard at it.

When Art finds out about Tere’s mom being seriously ill, he says it’s not the right time to discuss anything with Armando and Refugio.  Tere comes back home unexpectedly and so Art lies that he only came by to tell them he’s thinking about giving her a salary now that she’s so close to graduating.  Tere makes a big show of not going along with the idea unless her daddy agrees, but she knows he has to accept because they need the cash coming in.  She also is quick to emphasize that this was all the prof’s idea and not hers.

At Rub-Ego-te’s, Maira is still hot to trot, despite having had a passion-filled night with the hubby.  He fights off her advances and says again that he’s not as young and spur-of-the-moment as he was in the old days, and that he really needs to get into the office ASAP.   No, it’s not that he doesn’t love her or doesn’t find her sexually attractive, but they’re going to be abuelo’s sooner or later and he’s got problems with seeing himself as a horny young stud any longer....or that’s at least what he’s leading her to believe. (Actually, if Maira would find a decent friend at that club, somebody other than Genoveva who still wants the Big Guy for herself and has managed to keep it goin’ on  when it comes to looks, they might tell poor Maira that her do-over is long overdue! The Brazilian plastic surgeons, fat-farms and haute couturier designers are beckoning to you, dearie.)   Maira says that, speaking of Aida, she doesn’t think Aida and Paulo should be thinking of marrying since Paulo doesn’t seem that into Aida.  Rube disagrees and says if she’s happy, then leave her alone.

Tere lies to Art that her mother is asleep right then so that she doesn’t have to be any more embarrassed than she already is at the dump--er, humble abode--she lives in.

Hector tells Aurora he finally met Mar.  He mentions Mar’s idea to put up a store-front clinic in every barrio and that he wants to test his idea in his own vecindad first.  Hector seems excited about tsuch a worthy idea.  She asks if Mar realized they were related, but Hector doesn’t think so.  Aurora says she thinks Mar and Tere have a great future ahead of them.   Papa Hector tells her eventually, the love of her life will arrive.

Back at Tere’s, Mariano tells Ref she’s got to take tests still, but that she’s doing better.   He mentions to  Tere and her mom that he met the new hospital director the day before and that he’s interested in the  project Mar proposed to him.   Tere is excited for him and tells him he really needs to work that connection, hard.  Mar is obviously not on the same wavelength she is and looks at her like she’s from Mars instead of Mexico.

Later that morning, Maira has a mother-daughter chat and tells Aida she shouldn’t get engaged or married right out of college.  She has her whole life ahead of her and she should consider all sorts of alternatives.  Aida tells Maira that she’s always been in love with Paulo and that the sooner the better if she gets engaged to him.

Ref wants to get out and give catechism instruction to the kids in the vecindad, but Mar and Tere tell her it’s too soon yet for her to be out and about.  Once Mar goes back to the hospital for the morning shift, Ref gives Tere grief for going on about how to press the flesh and take advantage of his new contacts.  Tere says she doesn’t see anything wrong with it.  That’s how things work in the real worl outside.  Refugio says that her attitude scares her, and that it makes Tere seem she’d do anything to get ahead.  (I wouldn’t have jumped quite to that conclusion, but Ref, being from the barrio, shows how little she values Teresa’s social perspicacity.)    Armando walks in to check on his wife.  He and Tere tell Refugio about Art’s visit and that Tere’s now going to be paid.  Mama objects till they explain that Armando will look for another job and work also.   (With that kind of backward thinking and/or misplaced pride, it’s no wonder they’re all still struggling to survived in that damn barrio!  What do these people think is going to pay the electric bill and keep the toilets flushing? Pride? Dios has just sent a sh!t load of mana from the heavens and Tere’s parents are blind to it.  If you didnt’ know better, you’d have to think Teresa owes her smarts to the milk-man!)

Johnny tells Expe about Fito’s offering him a job.  From the look on Espe’s face, she has the feeling that whatever it is, it can’t be good, let alone honest work.

At the same time, Fito runs into Mar on the stairs and asks him to take care of a guy who Mar soon realizes is dying from an overdose.  Mariano saves the kid and finds out he was Fito’s “customer.”  He angrily tells Fito this is the first and last time he’s ever going to help him out of a jam like this,  cuz he’s not covering for any drug dealer!

Esp admits to Tere that she went back to her married boyfriend, and that since his wife supposedly has cancer, she wasn’t going to be so demanding with the poor guy.  Tere lets her know she thinks that’s about as dumb a reason as any to get back with him.  She says like his wife’s cancer is her problem, or what?  Has she no self respect that she thinks more of “the other woman” than of herself?  (Tere gets no complaints from me!)  Let him dump the woman and be done with it!  He can of course, offer to pay for her treatments and leave a way open to marry Espe finally. (Being practical is definitely one of Tere’s strong suits.)   “Esperanza, think about it!  This is your chance to break out of this barrio and have it all!  You wouldn’t have to choose like me then, between love and money.”  Espe asks her just who is offering her money.  Anyway, warns Espe, she’d have to have relations with the guy and that could be difficult for her.  That gets Tere talking about how right Espe was that making love with the man of your dreams was.  Espe realizes then that Tere and Mariano have been getting busy for a while.    Espe says if she can just hold out for a while, she and Mar will have it all.   Tere says she feels she’s been waiting an eternity already!  She agrees though, that there are doctors who do make loads of money.    Espe says hey, it’s really so little time now till they both graduate.    Tere mentions she’ll still need support from the right kind of people to make a success of that law degree.

At Art’s place again, he and Lu are discussing Tere’s personal problems with her mother’s health and how he got her to accept a salary finally after he showed them all they could trust him.  Lu says trust  is the least  of it.  It’s really a matter of pride for her.

Tere takes Ref to the hospital to have her tests done.   Tere strokes Mariano’s ego while at the hospital.  He mentions that he’s going to graduate soon.  He tells Tere he’s planning to marry her as soon as he gets opens his office in his specialty.

Teresa arrives back at the de la Barerra’s and gives Lu a graduation present,  Luisa’s diploma with her name on it.  Luisa nearly gives away what her brother really was at her home for that morning, but catches herself in time.  Art walks in on the two of them.  Well, now that Lu’s gotten Tere’s gift, he says, all that remains is the one he’s giving her.  They head for Lic. Cáceres’ office.

At the her daddy’s law office, Aida tells Paulo she’s added Tere’s name to the document  already and that she plans to upload it to the internet to blast it all over creation, des[pite her daddy’s warning not to mess with either Tere or El Profe.  Jealous.Paulo’s all for it.    Rubigote and Gen join Aida and Paulo to wait for Tere and Sugar Daddy de la Barerra’s arrival.  She reads the document with Teresa’s full name aloud for them all and confirms with Gen that that was how she’d told her to fill it out.   “--Exactly!”

Tere walks in and says she’s there to quickly check and assure herself [cerciorarse] that there are no errors in the paperwork.   “--Ah he’ll sign and you’ll take the keys.”  “--Yes.”  Aida hands her the document and tells her she’ll find that there are no mistakes.  Tere starts reading through it.  “--Oh, Aida, you’re not as efficient as you think.  There is definitely an error.”  El Bigote, with a grin as big as his hat size, asks what is wrong.  Tere starts to explain that it has to do with the name of whom the apartment belongs to, but she’s interrupted by her jefe’s footsteps as he enters into the room with kid sis, Luisa.  “--I am here to sign the mortgage papers for the woman I adore and who deserves this and more. “  Gen picks up on that remark.  “--The woman you adore?”  He looks over at Tere and they share a huge knowing smile.  “--Yes!”  He suddenly turns back around and looks at his sister.  “--It’s for Luisa!”   Luisa wasn’t expecting that --but from the caras de impactado on the other four in the room, they weren’t either.

Aida and Gen suddenly look like they just bit down on the biggest sour pickle this side of the Rio Grande.    While the Fatuous Gang of Four take a moment to regain their composure and to wipe off the massive splattering of egg on each of their smut-mongering mugs, Tere reminds them she warned them they’d been mistaken in putting her name on that document!   Art adds that it should serve the others there who’d improperly misinterpreted the situation that they’d better watch what they do and say in the future.  Bigote makes some idiotic remark about at least they were able to clear up all the confusion.  Tere gloats and chalks up another one as red-faced Aida asks for Luisa’s I.D. so she can correct the paperwork.   Paulo gives Tere a big grin that fairly screams “Atta-girl!”, and then walks out of the room.

Tere reminds the others, who consider themselves well-meaning, decent, and properly brought up [educado], that they’d better think twice before putting somebody else’s good intentions into question [ponerse en entredicho].  Zingo!  Tere has just raised the specter of illegality and put them all on notice.  Yowza!  El Bigote is in awe of the little lady’s legal prowess. All that and great T and A, too!   (Viewerville is thinking how unfortunate that neither Paulo nor Aida were there to take note, but then who really give a flyin’ fig about those two, anyway?  They’ll never be more than clerks in her daddy’s law office.)

Gen blames the confusion on Tere’s letting her suppose it was the case.  Tere gets in her face and says hey, I don’t see why!  I’ve told you all along that’s not what I’m all about!  “--I’m going to rise to the top, but by my own bootstraps!”   Gen sneers and starts to bring up Paulo but Lic. Bigote interrupts the approaching verbal catfight, obviously sensing that it would be an unfair fight for Gen who is no match at all for a tigress like Teresa!   He offers a toast for the occasion, but Art refuses.  The three of them are going to celebrate immediately after the signing.

Paulo tells Aida he’s pissed cuz he thinks it was his mother’s idea to have him there at the signing.    He thinks he can use this incident to his advantage to get around his mother’s threats to cut him off financially every time he disagrees with her.

Back in the barrio at lunch, Ref tells Juana she’s been allowed to work again.

Art signs and hands over the check.  Gen now realizes she’s forced to apologize to avoid a professional scandal connected to her.  Art tells her to apologize to Tere, not him and not to jump to conclusions next time.   Tere is a good, intelligent person whom he’s extremely proud of and he warns Gen and the others that he will not allow them to make up or spread things about her.

Outside, Mar’s papa drives up but remains unnoticed as Art tells Tere share a couple of minutes away from Luisa and he tells her how much he thinks of her and that she’s all a  guy could want in a gal.  One day she’ll make a great wife.  They go to Lu’s apartment and share a toast to love.   Lu notes with a degree of satisfaction how the other two seems to only have eyes for each other.

Rubigote gripes at Gen for letting him trip on his own wick and her nearly getting them all sued over what she told him and the others.  Gen tells him that Tere purposely allowed her to believe the apartment would be hers.

Aida warns Gen that Paulo’s going to (OMG!)  look for a job on his own so he can cut the apron strings.  Horrors!  If he isn’t shown that the errors of his ways traipsing after that slut will keep him in the poor house they’re sunk!  Gen’s got to do something!

Fito tells Johnny that he’s going to be a delivery man and a messenger for him.

Tere comes home and tells her daddy that the prof does have intentions towards her so that he can’t let the guy know Mario is her steady or she’ll lose the job and salary.  He agrees.

Gen insistst that Teresa let her purposely believe that the apartment was going to be hers.  Paulo’s sick of her obsession with Teresa Chavez.  He tells Mama he’s sure she had Aida bring him to her daddy’s office on purpose.    He’s determined now to find a job cuz he’s sick of her sticking it to him every time he disagrees with her and wants to do things his way.  She can keep her crummy credit cards and stuff ‘em.

Hector El Director tells Mar that he’s interested in his social work project and will be in contact with him about it.

Aurora stops by Tere’s to give her mother the blood pressure monitor.  Aurora and she start to chat.  She mentions she can’t make up her mind whether to go to the National University or University of the South.   Her father, she adds, will be teaching at the government’s university.  Tere notes it’s where Mar attends and immediately tells her that if she makes good grades there they will tell her it’s because of her daddy, so she should attend University of the South!  (Of course, the last thing she’d admit to Aurora is that she couldn’t risk Aurora and Mariano running into each other there on campus all the time unsupervised!)

Tere also finds out that Aurora’s daddy is the director at the hospital where Mariano works.  She asks Aurora if she’d speak with her dad so he would consider giving Maria a hand up on the career ladder.  Aurora doesn’t mention she’d already told her daddy about Mariano, or how impressed he told her he was with him.   She seems a little snitty and like she feels put upon.  No, she says, she won’t have to intercede because her father recognizes what a great doctor he’ll be and Mariano did it all by himself without anyone interceding for him.

Later that evening, Mar shows Tere the giant piggy bank of his that he’s literally been saving his peso’s in.   (OMG!  The last thing Tere needs to have shoved in her face!  Bad, bad form, Mar.)  She manages to hide her disgust long enough for him to get down on his knees and propose.  Pobre de Mariano.  Teresa’s answer is “NO”!

Cuando Me Enamoro #4 Monday 4/25/11 The Villa de Tijeras or The Blade Runner Cometh

Ahoy all, Cheryl had trouble posting so I am posting her recap for her. Take it away Cheryl...

Reviewing after the weekend:
Sisterly jealousy from Roberta to Renata, secret marriage plans between Rafa and Roberta, threatening mom that this will never be , omen to Renata of the man coming to change her life. more mom threats...

Is it a mistake to go back to Mexico, people don’t change thinks Matias but no one will deny him the the right to a reunion with his father. Memories of scissor Mom assuring him that his house is actually HER house, he will go back for his papa not scissoring monster mom. They discuss the vice presidency spot for sonny boy. Gonzalo is chided by his brother-in-law for his jealousy of Renata’s seeming interest in Rafa. He thinks that Gonzo stayed with Fina because of his love for Renata.

Plans are being made for the sale of Rafa’s vineyard’s first harvest (cosecha) and Rafa assures everyone he will bring his bride. Matilde wants a picture so she will recognize said bride. Rafa asks her to prepare to treat his bride as a queen which she is to him. hmmm, what is Matilde really looking for?

Gonzalo doesn’t want conflicts he only wants peace in his life. Fina is remembered with PASSION (I just knew she had a not-so-secret weapon to snare and keep this warm, loving man) and his desire to protect her and her two daughters. He wants Renata, Roberta and Matias to bring his dream of a united family and all be happy together. Once again we already see glimpses of how utterly deluded this man is. Not to mention that he is making no provision for a suitable role for Renata who actually contributes and works in the family business. Whereas, we don’t know if Matias will have even the remotest interest in working there but will be given the VP spot so Papa can demonstrate his undying love to the prodigal Matias.

Renata wants Mariachis in the garden as fitting tribute to the returning and her assistant discuss her not so secret love for Matias, everyone only a platonic love but for many years, how can you live so many years with an impossible love. Soon the love of your life will arrive. Renata thinks Matias won’t be fige in her, she will face the reality.

Proposal 25% more for the harvest than anyone else offers to Rafa from slick Augustin. They all grin, but Augustin seems to realize

Hop to Barcelona, Norea of the IUD fiasco arrives in a lobby and discusses his trip with Geronimo, begging for forgiveness of her mistakes about having his babies. She really wants him. He thinks Norea was not the girl meant for him (indicado), he adds, I think we are totally through. She hopes he will reconsider and come back to give her another chance.

Meanwhile back at Baja Napa, Augustin says he knows business better than Rafa, better than anyone. He can sell their wine harvest and provide the best introduction into the market so people will take then seriously. His idea is to promote the harvest for an artesanal, exclusive wine with lots of promise. Rafa’s partner (name?) indicates that Rafa has the final decision but no one else is going to offer them more for the first harvest. Augie says they won’t regret going along with him. His smirky face tells us he has found some easy marks that will be easy to dupe.

Regina strokes the old photo of her once idyllic family, Roberto, Regina I and II. She still cries over the loss of her love and her daughter. Egad, you are all right there are way too many ‘R’ names in this story.

Gonzalo returns home with Renata to celebrate the news of Matias’ return with Fina and she tells him to announce his good news Roberta who hugs him and is so pleased that his son is coming home. Gonzalo wants Roberta to help with the fiesta plans since Renata does so much at the office, Roberta at first looks hopeful at the friendly request from Gonzo but then shirks at his praise of Renata. Fina assures him she and Roberta will do all to make Matias the best homecoming ever. Hopefully he isn’t bringing his prize collection of soccer balls (futbols)...

Gonzolo tells of Rafa’s visit and teases that he might be stealing Renata. Roberta is starting to feel robbed of yet another love interest but can’t say anything. Mom kisses her head and whispers in her ear that hopes she has made a smart choice to listen to Mom about dumping Rafa.

Moments later they fight in pj’s about just that decision. Or maybe they are casual wear, hard to tell. FinaMom tells her she demands she terminate her relations with Rafa totally and now. OR ELSE.

On the phone, Roberta tells Rafa that things are complicated and she can’t marry him, her “parents” are totally against it. But your papa knows me and would welcome me. I will come ask him to his face (cara a cara) and tell him that I am worthy of you (digno de ti).

Roberta thinks they should elope and flee from (huir)everybody and everything. Rafa takes it as an affront to his honor and worth. This is not the way he does things and insists he will face her father to plead their right to pursue their love. Little does he guess who is really dangerous and Roberta doesn’t really tell him the truth that Gonzo actually doesn’t know anything about this relationship. Rafa snaps at Matilde that he isn’t hungry and she needs to leave him alone with his call . She hesitates so he has to say it again. More plot lines ********

In Barcelona, Jeronimo sees Norea of the secret IUD. She begs that she accepts that she did wrong. He cites, lying , lack of confidence and perhaps it is better to break off. She clutches him. Norea, we’ll talk when I get back. She begs him not to abandon her.

Roberta says get a clue (saca de onda). they won’t change their opinion since we have hidden ocultado the relationship It doesn‘t matter that dad will be annoyed . My parents feel betrayed (traicionados), my parents are making me break up with you so the only solution is for us to run off. Rafa insists that they have committed no sin (pecado). It would kill me to separate from you. Rafa swears revenge if they don’t want to accept him.

Matias stands at the airport in Madrid, yes he needs hair but how handsome he looks.

Matilda and her (brother?) in the kitchen discuss Rafa’s ill humor while munching on delicious looking food.

Renata is setting up the office for Matias with glass, metal and chic touches of red and is surprised by Gonzolo they laugh. He reports that Roberta and Fina dearest are preparing the prodigal son’s homecoming dinner. She wants to go with dad to the airport so Matias will know for sure how happy they all are (she is really) at his return.

Fina is talking with her confidante who will help her keep track of what Gonzolo is doing. Nothing has changed so far but he promises to keep her apprised of any movement.

A door bell rings and Roberta’s friend (?) comes in and goes up the stairs to see Roberta.

Back at the vineyard, Rafa is carving a heart with Roberta + Rafael in tree. Augustin comes with green folder where he has put his offer in writing insisting Rafa needs only to sign while Rafa remembers how Roberta said her “parents” have threatened that no one will buy his harvest. So he shakes hands with Augie who is more than pleased.

Roberta talks to her girlfriend (?) while packing all her perky party dresses saying her parents will never understand her love so she has no choice but to flee with her party clothes.

But your Mother will have a heart attack (infarto) when she finds out. Besides you don’t really love Rafa anyway. Roberta says Rafa will provide for her and give her an independent life (away from her “snippy” Mom) and this time the attention won’t be taken over by Renata.

Mom listens in the hall saying very well Roberta, we’ll see who will win. She snaps her little iphone/droid and lets the packing continue in the next room. ****

Adriana checks Renata’s makeup, and wonders why she is so nervous to see Matias. She tells her not to worry about the long childhood love for Matias, if this (grownup) love is real, his papa will approve. Everyone seems to already know that Fina won’t like any of it. Renata packs her things to leave the office for the day saying, Thanks for the therapy, Adriana feigns request for payment for her expert services.

Gonzalo comes home and thanks Fina for all her efforts then asks does she want to come to the airport with him. Oh, yes, but she begs off, she must stay and oversee the great preparations. Once alone, she curses Matias for returning and threatening her money, I mean.... family.

Gonzo is in the airport and calling Regina (notice how everyone has constant cell phone contact) who is on her way into the airport. In perfect synchronicity, we see Jeronimo deplaning from Barcelona, also moving through the airport toward the exit.

Fina curses some more and thinks she will figure out how to foil Matias’ plans to return and take all her millions.

Renata talks faster and faster as she nears Gonzalo and suddenly crashes into the arms of handsome Jeronimo as they topple onto the floor and they laugh and look interested in eachother. Renata talks faster and faster mostly saying that she is seeking her Papa. She leaves a bracelet and the white stone from Adriana behind on the floor which he stoops to pick up. Maybe he can see her again even though they don’t exchange names and it is Mexico City, but it’s also a telenovela so guess what I’m thinking ...

Regina in her therapist jacket is helping young Juan to walk and his mother thanks her with tears of gratitude.
Is this related to the Centro de Esperanza. Inez and her husband kiss over their success with this endeavor. More synchronicity in store for us.

Gonzalo and Matias meet with tears and hugs. How are you Papa, Gonzalo returns, finally, it’s been too much time, more hugs and tears. Here comes Renata. Matias can’t believe who is running toward them, they lock dewy eyes and Iglesias sings us out to the commercials. ****

The taxi driver asks Jeronimo, do you know Mexico? Yes, I was born here but havn’t been back for many years. The taxista says the city has changed and is more poluted but still has the world’s most beautiful women. Jeronimo remembers the beauty that just felled him to the floor minutes before with a smile.

Matias gives a reserved hug and they all talk about how much time. He tells Renata how beautiful she is. Dad gives him car keys and he asks Renata how to address her sister or step-sister (hermanastra) just Renata, is all she says.

Regina talks with Rosa about Jeronimo’s arrival. Rosa wishes she were 20 years younger to pursue such a hunk and encourages Regina to enjoy the opportunity. Regina sadly only hopes someday she will have her daughter at her side, then to make her a grandmother. She has a very rough drawing on the computer of what she might look like now and says for sure she is beautiful, with absolute sureness that she IS.

The airport greeting continues with memories and joking. Renata is nada rencoso, do you remember when your dad married my mom and you had to give us both bracelets? No you don’t remember. She starts to show him where she wears it all the time to this very day, but it isn’t on her wrist. She assures Matias that she still wears it and it was right there. He seems moved by her sentiment.

Jeronimo holds said bracelet, and wonders, he calls Rafa’s house and leaves a message with Matilde that he is in Mexico. Matilde swoons that she is in love with Jeronimo (I think, she is in love with love or maybe Rafa or maybe whoever calls next).

Next Jeronimo calls Regina, (this part is really confusing, how is it he knows her?) but they confirm plans for dinner, he will pick her up. They are both so glad to see each other. I am so glad my first hour is almost over, I am breathless too.

Rafa talks excitedly with the Padre, we are going to marry here in the pueblo, yes on Sunday. But there are things that have to be done, formalities (tramites) to be seen to. I don’t have time for the tramites. I won’t take a chance of losing her.

Jeronimo and Regina stop for a cappuccino and regular coffee at a sidewalk cafe. They talk about the woman that Rafa is planning to marry. Regina assures him that his brother has surely found a wonderful woman to love. She hasn’t had a love since Roberto and Jeronimo is suffering from Maria’s betrayal. Regina does remember Roberto’s betrayal of her although she mostly misses him.

Back at the Villa de Tijeras, Matias is greeting his Auntie, Uncle and all with joy and affection. Matias says hello Señora, cordially to all and stiffly to Mom, who invites him to be more familiar which he rejects as he reminds her of her insisting that he speak formally to her as a child. She nevertheless welcomes him significantly pausing on the word (OUR house). They all go in to the dinning room and she pauses on the stairs to say the real thought that he is indeed not welcome to HER house HERS, all hers, hers, I tell you....

Forward scenes look really bad for Rafa who argues about his rights to be with Roberta is told by Fina that Roberta is not for him and never will be. We see him have a run in with one of her blades, oops, she seems surprised that he falls to the ground and spurts blood.

I’ve run short on time to share photos this week, but here is a link to the show I will be in this weekend:

Triunfo del Amor #98 4/25/11 Yo Yo Yo -- The Father is a father!

As Victoria holds little Juan Pablo in her arms, she has a powerful flashback — the car in the night and the loss of la pequeña María. Confusing present and past, she refuses to return the baby to Max. But then Max’s words jolt her back to the present and she hands Juan Pablo to his father. She herself doesn’t understand what happened – she is mortified. She cries. Max comforts her and reassures her she can see her grandson as often as she likes. (Armchair diagnosticians: Shall we go with PTSD?)

Naty – and now we know that’s short for ‘Natividad’ – sure cleans up nice! But then we knew that, right? She has the full attention of the boys – young and old – in the vecindad. Juanjo leans on the runway and howls like a lonely hounddog. Scorpion guy has balcony viewing and takes it all in.

Max leaves with little JP and Victoria pulls out her old photograph of la pequeña María. She cries.

The fashion show is over and Toni, Pipino and Millie comment on how María stole the show with her beauty. Juanjo is a little miffed: And what’s Naty? Chopped liver? Scorpion guy still watching.

Max and María are enjoying some smoochies in her place in the vecindad when Get a Life Alonso bursts in without knocking.

Pipino, the old teacher, Napo and Milagros chatter about Mexicans and how they love to party >>FF

Max gets in Alonso’s face: What’s the big idea of walking in without knocking? He’s had it with Alonso’s “ternura” crap. It’s time for Get a Life Alonso to … well… get a life and find a woman of his own! [Are those whistles and cheers in livingrooms across the land?] Alonso’s weak comeback: Max is a troglodita (a caveman, lout)! Max gives him the punch in the face he’s been asking for.

The Xi and Gui show is running out of steam. Evil is just not as much fun as it used to be. And now Ximena realizes she’s lost everything. Guillermo promises they’ll get even with the Sandoval family but Xi finds his threats hollow. After all, Osvaldo took Leonela from Gui, even had a child with her and Gui stood by and did nothing. And then Gui remembers Osvaldo’s scornful voice pointing out that he exchanged his own son for a theatre.

The Lovely Luci is concerned that others – especially his girlfriend -- may misinterpret that fact that she is staying in Fabián’s apartment. When Fabián admits ruefully that Cruz seems to be gaining on him, Luci tells him she’ll help him conquer Fer.

Meanwhile, back at the Casa Sandoval, the Lovely Fer muses over her dueling swains, their gifts, their attentions, their songs but then concludes sadly that in the end, no one will want to stay with her because of her paralysis.

Post punch in the vecindad. Alonso tells María not to get in the middle of the fight, “Ternura”. Oy, again with the “ternura” crap, says Max disgustedly. The boys take it outside and both get in a couple of good ones while María flutters helplessly imploring them to stop. Scorpion guy continues to enjoy his balcony sightline. At last María runs for help. Cruz and JJ come to the rescue, separating our two macho guanabees. Milagros reads them both the riot act for bringing their bad vibes to her neighborhood. Then she points at Alonso and sends him packing. Scorpion guy still watching and licking his chops over how much Doña Demente is going to enjoy hearing about the goings-on in the vecindad.

Fer wants to know what’s happening at Victoria’s office. She is way way way behind in the news. Vic updates her on the hostile Demente takeover.

Luci has discovered that even metrosexuals like Fabián conceal nasty secrets in their refrigerators. ¡Guácala! (Blech!)

Fer is shocked by the (old) news about Casa Victoria but she perks up when Vic explains they’re selling their minority 49% and starting up a new Casa Victoria – and it will be better than ever. Fer is thrilled. She wants in on the new company – she’d like to start work tomorrow!

Apparently Juanjo got a little bruised in the war of the macho guanabees and now Naty is cleaning his wounds, ever so tenderly. He is disconcerted (well, I think that’s what he’s going for – always hard to discern emotions on that flat face) … anyhow he doesn’t seem prepared for Naty’s blurted “I love you” and impromptu smooch. [What Naty needs is a makeover from the inside out. Then maybe she’ll finally realize she is much too good for this particular troglodita.]

Now that Get a Life Alonso has slunk away with his tail between his legs, María scolds Max for hurting him. Max stands his ground. Alonso is an opportunist and in the guise of helping María he has usurped Max’s place. When he repeats his intention to divorce Ximena and marry María, she expresses some doubt. But they end up all loving and smoochy.

Alonso has taken refuge in a bar, maybe The Only Bar in El DF (TOBIEDF) where he is not so much joined by as accosted by the XiMonster. [She is wearing a brown fedora hat which is actually very cool and makes her look like a dame in a 1950’s noir film.] He is quick to tell her he now hates her as much as he once loved her. She doesn’t believe it:
Donde hubo fuego, cenizas quedan.
(Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Literally: Where there was fire, there are still ashes.)

Besides “La Desamparada” is never going to love him – she’s in love with Xi’s own husband. Now Alonso shows us that underneath his creepy exterior there beats a heart of stone. Yeah I know it’s Ximena, but still…

He rejects her in the cruelest possible way calling her vacía (empty), hueca (hollow), sin vida (lifeless) because she can’t give him the only thing he wants: a child. She has nothing to offer, he says coldly.

It’s been a long day. The poor, battered XiMonster stumbles drunkenly into her room at Bernie’s and flops on the bed. She finally realizes: Nadie me quiere (No one loves me.)

Padre Juan Pablo paces restlessly. He knows that sooner or later Victoria will reveal that he is the father of her lost daughter. And when that happens, he’ll have to man up.

Osvaldo, alone in his study, and now completely rehabilitated in our eyes, reads soulful love poetry. ( José Angel Buesa – Quizás te diga… I think.) Victoria [who, let’s face it, still has some therapeutic work to do] is touched by his reading. She’s there to thank him for staying with her all night when she was in jail. She knows he’s always been there for her – he’s her pillar. The two reflect on the oddness of her arrest and agree there’s something funky going on. Someone must have planted the incriminating evidence in an attempt to frame Victoria. But the only person who hates her enough to do that -- is Bernarda! But she has no access to Vic’s bedroom.

At this moment Bernarda has become concerned about Quality Control at Casa Bernarda. She sneers at a bunch of drecky sketches and sends Eva (the modernized, no longer the fresh from a Frankenstein movie set Eva) to get Roxana.

Say, where are Ximena and Roxana living these days? wonders Osvaldo. At Bernie’s, Vic tells him. That must be it! Ximena or Roxana must have planted the damning evidence on Bernie’s orders!

Osvaldo gets it that Bernie hates Victoria but what he still doesn’t get is why. One day, she promises -- One day, she’ll tell him.

Bernie gives Roxana her first performance review. Her designs are disgusting (asquerosos) she declares as she tears up the drawings. She despises them! Bernarda realizes she needs professional help. [No, not that kind. It’s way too late for that kind of help.] They will call Pipino’s archrival: Luciano Ferreti!

Guillermo lurks in his red convertible and watches Max get into a taxi with one of the babies. He follows him to the offices of the new Casa Victoria. Max leaves baby Osvaldo in Toni’s care. Gui enters the building…

María and Naty are giggling over Naty’s bold move. If JJ didn’t reject her kiss, there must be something there! [It looks like this time the makeover is going to stick. Naty’s frizzy red perm is gone and now she has lovely, smooth chestnut tresses. No glasses either. I’m waiting for Juanjo’s makeover.]

As if Padre Juan Pablo didn’t feel bad enough, Osvaldo shows up wanting to talk about his relationship with Victoria, how she still loves him but her pride is getting in the way of their reconciliation. Os still doesn’t understand why she kept her first daughter a secret from him all those years – you have your own secrets, PJP reminds him – but now what he wants to know more than anything is: Who was that baby’s father?

Obsessive Alonso is obsessively poring over his obsessive María photo collection. What’s next? The María Desamparada action figure? The doorbell rings. It’s Max. We have to talk, he says. He is divorcing Ximena tomorrow and then he and María will be able to be together. Alonso throws the pregnancy photos in Max’s face and reminds him meanly that he’ll never recover the time he missed at María’s side. You stole those moments from me! retorts Max. Alonso tells him that Ximena is getting ever crazier and more dangerous and Max can’t protect María from her:
Tu esposa estuvo a punto de matar a María.
(Your wife almost killed María).

Apparently not everyone is on board with the divorce plans. When Max’s lawyer presents the demand to Ximena, she refuses to sign. The lawyer reminds her that she is legally vulnerable because she abandoned her home. Does it say in those papers that my husband tortured me? she asks the nonplussed lawyer.

Pipino and Toni get called away from Osvaldo cooing duty when Oscar needs them for some actual, er, work. That’s all Gui was waiting for. First we see his silhouette and then we see the slimeball himself. He slithers in, approaches the bassinet and picks up little Osvaldo. With surprising gentleness, he cradles the baby’s head in his hand, locks eyes with him and kisses his cheek.

Padre JP ruminates over his conversation with Osvaldo and decides that he needs to talk to Victoria. She has to be prepared for what’s coming.

Victoria is back home communing with the Doll That Trumps DNA. She remembers the terrible moment when Bernarda forced her to confess that Juan Pablo was the father of her baby. She cries. Osvaldo comes in and begs her to tell him the name of little María’s father. He thinks it would take a great weight off both of them. But since he hasn’t mastered Demente’s interrogation techniques, Victoria remains silent. Por favor, he says again: Dímelo. (Tell me!) Nada.

But then we hear a weird echo in the room: Yo yo yo. [And if Scuzzy Boy hadn’t gone to that tattoo parlor in the sky, I’d think he had snuck in with some hiphop music.] But no. A ghostly ghastly Padre Juan Pablo stands before them:
Yo soy el padre de esa niña que Victoria perdió.
(I’m the father of that little girl Victoria lost.)

Sweet William Levy in a kayak.

El Mundo de Telemundo, Week of April 25, 2011: Discuss Amongst Yourselves

All the Telemundo novelas were pre-empted Good Friday night for the movie: El niño llamado Jesús. This reminds me of my favorite name of a novela character. There was a character on La Tormenta named, Jesús Niño. To be named Baby Jesus seems like quite a burden.

I am way behind on Reina and haven't watched any of the episodes this week but fortunately Hombre de Misterio and the rest of the gang have done daily recap-ettes. Thanks so much!

I did watch Thursday's episode of Herederos so I will describe the glacial progress, as Novelera so aptly described it, of that novela.

HEREDEROS- Emilio's bandages are off and I don't know what all Modesto's double takes and prevarications previously were about because he looks like a perfectly normal unscarred person. He invites Sofía to lunch at a fancy restaurant. He flatters her and quizzes her about the men in her life. She describes the love of her life in a way that could apply to Emilio or the deceased Gustavo.

Paula and Julieta are having one of their tiresome exchanges when suddenly Julieta almost faints. Paula helps her back to her room and Julieta tells Paula that she has terminal cancer and then she makes Paula promise not to tell anyone.

Lucas concocts an elaborate surprise to get Rosario to put out. She likes seeing Te Amo in flowers and the balloons but she is still not willing to go all the way with Lucas.

Guadalupe sings on the television show without telling Gaspar. He finds out, of course, and is very angry and nasty to Guadalupe when she comes back. He says that he is not sure he wants her as his wife.

Some more stuff with Rosa and Miguel but nothing really happens.

That was about it.

Your turn now.

Triunfo del Amor #97 4/22/11 What’s Mine Is Mine and What’s Maria’s Is Mine

As Viewerville makes itself comfy in front of the tv, the Devilish Doña Demente, aka, Bernarda, has been found by Padre Juan Pablo with great grandson JPito in her arms frighteningly close to the baby’s bathwater. JP suddenly fears for the baby’s safety, but Mama assures him there’s no way she’d drown this little one if that’s what he was thinking! (So, Viewerville can stop biting its nails.) He takes his grandson into his arms. Nathy and Maria enter the apartment just as Burnie refers to JPito’s maternal grandmother--who, in perfect telenovela family jungle-vine style, happens also to be JPito’s paternal step-grandmother--with the endearing epithet of “infeliz mujerzuela” [wretched hussy]. Maria immediately demands to know the name of her mother (the $64,000 question) --no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it!

Rather than give a straight answer, Burnie diverts by answering the question with one of her own: how could Maria have agreed to take in Jimena’s offspring, being that he’s the child of her worst enemy and her “lover’s” wife, to boot? Maria is now Jimena’s nanny for all practical purposes, gripes Burnie, which is something she considers both humiliating and overly humbling for her granddaughter. (Hmmm. Just like the studio-sized slum-dwelling Burnie’s forced her to live in now.)

At Castillo Sandoval, the family is in Fernanda’s room discussing errant Cruz’s possible ulterior motives in entering Fer’s room through the window. Victoria doesn’t miss a chance to verbally squeeze her philandering ex-hubby, Osvaldo, below the belt again when he dares to defend Cruz as well-meaning, good folk. Vic reminds Oz that he felt the same about Federico Padilla and look where that led. Fer takes up for her daddy and says the accident was her fault, not his. Ozzie considers Victoria’s snide remarks a just rebuke and leaves to go mope somewhere else in the house. Max scolds Vic for being such a witch towards a man who pretty much babysat her while she was in jail the other night. On his way out the door, Max makes the mistake of telling Vicki that Osguito is with Maria. Vic spits fire his way again for leaving his son with hateful and hate filled Maria.

Burnie, meanwhile, escapes the premises without telling Maria anything more than she knew before. Maria gripes to Padre JP about the way his mother always evades answering her. Fausto shows up and JP explains he and Burnie have set Fausto up in the padre’s old apartment to be Maria’s man-Friday and body-guard.

Once again at los Scandal-val, Max gets on Vic for kvetching about Maria. This is the woman he loves, where as Jimmie, the woman Vicki chose for him, has abandoned him and her child while Maria has agreed to help him care for Osguito along with her own son! Vic needs to be a bit more gracious as well as grateful, he says. She apologizes and asks Max to bring both of the babies to the house for a while to visit with her. He agrees. Vicki also agrees to apologize to Ozzie for what she did earlier.

Afterwards, Fer confesses to Vicki that she’s lost hope of ever walking again or having a normal life. Vicki swears she will.

Back in the bowels of the barrio, JP asks Maria why she didn’t tell anyone that Ji had attacked her. Maria says she didn’t want to bother anyone over it. Ji’s just crazy, is all. (Yeah, no biggie. Why would that matter to somebody who never bothers to lock her door, especially in a sleazy part of town like that?) Anyway, Max is dumping Ji, she says, to finally make Maria his main squeeze. (Nothing said about making an honest woman of her, though.) Padre asks about Alonso. It’s platonic. Her heart belongs to Max. JP starts to object because he sees their relationship as impossible. Max walks in on them then and disagrees. Maria is the love of his life and it’s a love that will last a lifetime, he swears. Max and Maria are all Huggies and Smiles--literally. Yup, that’s all they really need to set up house together, Padre.

Cruz faces Vic and explains that he only goes in through the window and does the pratfalls because it makes Fer laugh and she starts having a bit of fun. He swears his intentions are honorable. Vic sees the value in what he’s been trying to do for Fer and gives in. FF>>

Val walks into the study and Oz has their favorite song playing. The memory of that song and his declaration of love are “tattooed” somehow to the both of them. They dance together cheek to cheek and nearly kiss, until Vic catches herself at the last moment. She breaks away from Oz, mean tease that she is, delivering another low blow to what’s left of his male ego–which, admittedly, has got to be slim pickin’s by now. It’s a memory, she says, that she’d prefer to be over and done with. (Okokay! Here’s $64,000 question #2: how many times does a guy have to get kicked in the family jewels before he shows a little self-respect?) Oz stands there and fights the tears stinging his eyes as Vicki struts imperiously away.

Back in the city at Casa de Bernarda, Jimena’s on the phone talking to Gui. Jimmie keeps trying to blow him off while he tries just as hard to get her to visit him for a little more slap and tickle like old times. She grouses. He tries getting into her …er… good graces by suggesting that she could get even with Max using a plan thought up with a cooler head, something like kidnapping Osguito. She’s not interested. As for her starting up with him again, it’s over and has been for a long time now, she reminds him. No, he says, it will never be over between them, especially now that they share a son. The kid’s useless and so’s Guillermo’s blackmail, she says. “--I’m free of you now. Tell them all anything you want. Actually, I’d like to see the look on Max’s face when you tell him that his child is really your son!” She hangs up on him. He tells himself he’s always enjoyed the challenging ones. “—Let’s just see if it really is over for her!"

At Maria’s place again, meanwhile, Padre JP tells Maria he doesn’t doubt she and Max love each other, but hey, seems they've forgotten the “M” word this time around.  Somehow Max manages to slide by that little sticker burr of a detail for now, and Maria sidelines the issue saying she’s not abandoning Osguito the way his mother and hers abandoned them. JP is quick to defend against the accusation that she was abandoned. He explains that because of the restraints of the confessional he can’t tell Maria anything more than that he knows for sure that she was never abandoned.

JP then heads off as Antonieta, Pipino and Milagros show up to discuss with Maria their idea for a fashion show at the vecindad for their new Milagros line. Maria agrees to model for them. Max then takes off with the babies so that Vicki can spend some quality time with both of them. Since Ji’s moved out, Maria says, she sees no problem with JPito being at the casota. FF>>

Fabian shows up at Casa Sandoval bearing gifts for Fer. One of them is a book on Frieda Kahlo who was also in an accident and unable to walk for a while. This seems to be all the encouragement Fer needs to go with him to a rehab center. They spend the entire day there together. FF>>

Pipi and Toni continue discussing their ideas for the new line of fashions geared to the average woman. They want all the women in the building to be a part of the show and model. Nat tells them that no matter how nice the dresses are, nothing would make her look good in one. Toni and Pepi take up the challenge and promise to do a total make-over on her.

Gui surprises Jimmie in one of the offices at Casa Bernarda. He tries seducing her. She tries to fight him off. He tells her not to play hard to get with him. Ji admits she did love him once, but it’s turned to hate. As far as he’s concerned hate and love are opposite sides of the same sensual coin. She wants no part of him or the constant feeling of humiliation and submission. He could care less. He’s only got one thing on his mind. He lays a major lip-lock on Jimena and she melts into his arms. Unfortunately, JP walks in on the two of them en lip-lockus delecti. “--Jimena!” Ji immediately tries to claim her innocence and that Gui was trying to take advantage of her. JP is all like talk to the hand. “—No woman who abandons her child is innocent and no woman who jealously tries to kill another woman is innocent.”

The padre tells Jimmie that he knows she attacked Maria Desamparada. The gal still tries to assert her innocence. “—I would be incapable of such a thing!” JP says in his line of work he’s learned to recognize Evil when he sees it, the same way he’s able to know an angel among them, so don’t bother trying to deny it. (We’ll give him a pass here since he really was clueless when it came to both Mama and Jimmie. I think I’d trade my Evil detector in on a new model if I was him, or at least get the old one tuned up.) As far as he's concerned, Gui and she are just alike! They’re bad to the bone! What’s more, Jimmie better steer clear of Maria and JPito! Consider herself warned, he says, and then storms out of the office.

The news that Ji actually tried to off Maria is like an aphrodisiac to giddy Gui. He offers again to help her get even with Maria and Max. He suggests kidnapping the only thing that connects the two of them which is, of course, little JPito. This seems to finally grab Jimmie’s evilly fertile imagination.

Back at los Scandal-val, Vicki notes to Max how drawn she is to JPito. He suggests it’s the call of the blood (a bit of a stretch, considering Max is no blood relative to Vic.) He takes Osguito then and puts him to bed while she and JPito continue to bond.

Fer and Fab continue with her therapy. FF>>

Meanwhile, a couple of clients from the “Lovely” cosmetics line come by Alonso’s studio to ask about a second ad campaign. He’s suggests the model he first offered who was pregnant before, but who’s had her child now. They object and say that since they’re looking to feature the model’s entire body that her looks may have been destroyed by her pregnancy. Alonso looks at them like what century did these two male chauvinist whack-jobs crawl out of? (Perhaps where they come from they haven’t heard of mothers who are still …er…“sexually” active? Just where do these two south ends of a north-bound jack-ass think little brothers and sisters come from, anyway?) Lonnie smiles politely, like any self-respecting salesman might do, and we will wait to see if he takes the opportunity to gently dissuade them of their sexist biases.

Night falls. The male crowd is getting antsy in anticipation of the fashion show that is about to begin. (Did somebody hear Casa Victoria and automatically think Victoria’s Secret? I mean, there ain’t no way guys are gonna get so squirrely over women’s clothing unless it’s fingering non-lingering lingerie.) Juanjo, Don Joel and Don Naco discuss who’s in the lineup. JJ can’t believe they’d waste their time having Nat model anything considering they’d have to dig pretty darn deep—like maybe all the way to China--to find enough of this gal’s inner beauty to be able to qualify her as a model. Naco says something about Nat’s got a surprise worked out, so wait and see.

The show starts. The lights go out. Then suddenly they go up again. There is Nat in a strapless, pleated chiffon turquoise number. JJ turns into a saucer-eyed, tail-beating, panting puppy-dog when he sees how Toni and Pepi transformed her.

At the same time, Vicki has bonded a bit too tightly with JPito. Max comes in to get the baby ready to take back to Maria. Vicki suddenly has a flood of memories about losing little Maria and won’t give the baby back to Max. Max looks at her like she’s lost her mind. Vicki insists the baby is more hers and she won’t give him up.

Teresa Fri 4/22/11 #25-26 Discussion and Bullet Points

Here is at least a discussion page set up for those of you care to use it.  If anybody writes a recap or comes up with a few bullet points for last night's 2 hr. episodio, I will be more than happy to post them here.

[Here are the bullet points from Anon. 207  who seems to have hit all the high points, too! I've added a couple from Diann and Emarie this Monday morning in red.  Thanks mucho to all! -- edit.]
These are out of order:
  • Mariano is some place, turns around and Aurora is there.
  • Arturo asked Teresa if she has a novio and she lies and says no.
  • They go to the vecindad and run into Pablito, who tells Aurora that they took a kidney out and told them he won't grow much.
  • Aurora goes up to Teresa's house. She's not home but Refugio is having some sort of episode. Aurora makes Fugie sit down, they eat and Aurora washes the dishes. Aurora tells Fugie that she wishes she could sit down with her mom and have chats.
  • Aida busts on Teresa's earrings. Later Teresa goes to Paolo's house to help him with something. Paolo comes on to her, she slaps him (losing the earring) and leaves.
  • Later Aida comes over to Paolo's house, he's not there. She sees Teresa's earring and runtelsdat to Genoveva. Then Paolo & Aida go to dinner where all his credit cards are declined (courtesy of Mom).
  • Ruben begs Espy to stay, she is like no, see ya.
  • Then some shady looking guy with an expensive motorbike that knows Johnny comes on to her.
  • The owner of Armando's shop is deciding whether to close it down.
  • Arturo tells Luisa he's in love with Teresa.
Ok what else happened:
  • Aurora surprises Teresa on the job. They go out where Aurora mentions she ran into Mariano at some place. Teresa is pissed. Shark music ensues.
  • An important bullet point missed:  Arturo confesses to Luisa he is in love with Teresa. Hes known for some time now, but hes waiting until she is finished with school, then he plans on asking her to MARRY him.  Luisa is super feliz he is in love again after Paloma and doubly feliz that he is in love with her best friend.
  • Arturo tells Teresa he wants to buy Luisa her own apartment and asks Teresa to help. They go to this beautiful apartment. Teresa is facing the window when Century 21 Genoveva comes in. Artie tells Genoveva he will buy the apartment. Teresa turns around and Genoveva's overly made up face is in shock.
  • Genoveva then runtelsdat to Ruben that Arturo is buying TERESA an apartment. She also runtelsdat to Paulo & Aida that Arturo is buying Teresa an apartment and Aida's all like "I knew something was going on between them."
  • Teresa is mad at Mariano because Aurora saw him before she saw Teresa. He calls up Cutberto's Mariachis to serenade Teresa but she's not having it.
  • Teresa goes to Aurora's house, finds out she never got with anyone in France and then "casually" mentions Mariano proposed to her.*
  • Later Teresa busts into Juana's house furious b/c of Aurora & Mariano. And then she's shaking Juana's sewing machine. If Teresa breaks Juana's machine then she won't have anymore nice custom dresses so she needs to stop that. (I have a sewing machine, I will slap somebody if they shake my machine).
  • Teresa and her covered up boobs drops by Ruben's office to drop off some papers. He tells her he knows Arturo bought the apartment for her and he (Ruben) could give her so much more. Teresa is like "Um, Arturo bought the apartment for LUISA." I don't think Ruben is believing that, though.
  • The owner sells the shop. Armando & Johnny are out of a job. Espy & Fugie are talking in the vecindad courtyard when Armando says he needs to talk to Fugie. He then mentions the owner sold the shop and he doesn't have a job anymore. Refugio then proceeds to have the Fred G. Sanford Big One.
  • There were some ER: Mariano scenes & SAINT PALOMA scenes too.

*I doubt seriously Teresa would have given Mariano another look if Aurora hadn't been interested in him.

AVANCES: Hot Prof sees Teresa getting out of a car, Hot Prof shakes Teresa in a rage, Hot Prof furiously kisses Teresa. I wish someone would furiously kiss me.
