El Talismán #36-38 Wed 3/21/12 Double Your Pleasure!
This one is by Marta Ivett
Cameela keeps pushing Rennie
Armani tries to get his mom to reason about Fabiola just like she is about to marry Renny
Rennie calls Elviral… teases Cameela about telling Mommie she is there, but he tells Elviral about the bank account he will open for her. Making Emila snort beside herself and making Cameela doubt her notion that he is or not rich, not bad, two birds hit with one shot.
Tracy and Alberta argue at the deck… Alberta warns Tracy they will need to choose between Pigorio and BBuckle.
Said buckle is asking Valentin to check on Pigorio… don’t forget you work for me, it will go very bad for you if I find out you are doubledecking me. Vale gives Buckle the blood work results, which DO tell that he was taking in poison. Valentin studied some veterinary school so he can read analysis… so he can have one card on Antonio… Antonio will try to push THIS ONE on Pedro .. again YAWN…(haven’t you tried this one 99 times before Antonio?) Valentin reminds him have to prove Pedro poisoned Pigorio. The police won’t just ignore that the analysis results dissappeared… Antonio gathers up before getting too deep… lets forget the issue for now… maybe whoever poisoned my dad is doing me a favor, and maybe I can put Pedro in jail for it, killing 2 birds with one shot…(is this a contest between Rennie and Antonio?)
Said Pigorio and Panchito are talking elsewhere in deck… still talking about Elviral’s wedding (Pigorio is curious how bad it went for Elviral, knows that bomb will burst soon enough) and about Pigorio’s obsession with Doris, need another nail to get this one out.
Pedro Lucrecia.. will she stay or will she go.. .YAWN…
Doris and Tracy at deck… Doris recommends Tracy swallow her tongue to keep her job this time… and don’t flirt/kiss-kiss with Panchito in public… Tracy wants to explain but Doris keeps telling her to shut up… Alberta brings Doris a court paper about divorce from Antonio’s lawyer.
Doris on phone with Bridgete.. Bridgete still very concerned, Doris, you got in a very dangerous game… Doris determined to make Pigorio obsessed with her, with Pigorio’s power she can destroy Camelia so Antonio cannot have her either..
Rennie still on phone with Elviral… well well Rennie is no dumb… Elviral’s account will also have his signature so they can deposit her check and then he can take the $ out.. not bad… Cameela insists he is deceiving Elviral… Rennie tries to turn it on Cameela by commenting she is not trusting, and that is what she gets for getting involved with a married man.
Inspector comes to ElTal insisting Pedro testify against Lucrecia… or aiding in the investigation of the car breakdown attempt incident. Lukrazia steps up and tells the inspector to file the case because Pedro won’t testify… Inspector says no can’t do.. you would need Cameela to testify for her too, so the case Is still open and she is still suspect. He must confirm Cameela does not want to press charges against Lookrazy either. Lookrazy keeps repeating Cameela hates her, Pedro insists it was just an accident… YAWN… Inspector asks do you have enemies, Pedro? .. of course! Pigorio!
Elated Elviral talks to Armani about the bank account. Armani asks her if she does not love Rennie… She responds yeah that too, but you realize it? We won’t have to worry about money ever again!! LETS CELEBRATE!! She will also prove Cammela she was wrong about Rennie… Elviral keeps calling Pedro a vulgar ordinary man who does not deserve her daughter.
Rennie and Cameela keep arguing, he has turned the discussion around and now its about Cameela and the married man who is deceiving her. Don’t mess with my private life!... Exactly! SO you are least qualified to butt in my private life…
Pigorio gets call from Bridgete about Lucas and him meeting about the new ‘job’. Bridgete assures Pigorio that Lucas is a great falsifier… Pigorio can’t take risks with that.
Panchito was hidden around, listened in ‘so that was it.. my dad is getting a false will’
Cameela and Rennie keep arguing… from today on your mom is my responsibility, worry about Pedro… Don’t mess with Pedro… Don’t mess with your mother!... what are you hiding?... don’t mess with me! If you are coming to the wedding with that attitude don’t come.. even better.. DON’T COME to my wedding!
Nervous Doris shoos Alberta and Tracy away… she then asks Panchito where her husband is… runs out… Tracy tells Panchito what her ‘rollo’ is… things are going to get ‘del color de hormiga brava’ around here!
Antonio and Valentin discuss some more. Valentin stole the results. Antonio fears they will just repeat the tests..Valentin doubts Pigorio will get them redone if his stomach does not hurt anymore. In runs Doris shredding the divorce papers in front of Antonio… she repeats her threat, will make the divorce long and expensive… Antonio insists he will get it done and then have Cameela… Doris laughs and says don’t count on it, by then Cameela will be married to Pedro. Antonio tells her … ‘watch it, witch… you know me’. … Doris keeps repeating her line… Antonio is immune to her tantrums… as you told the girls, for their own good, we will handle the divorce calmly. Doris swears she will make him pay… he could care less if she prolongues the divorce, eventually he will kick her out… she warns she might end up being the new ‘Traz owner. Antonio puts a frown like he does believe that could be possible.
Back to ElTal, Pedro likes the idea to investigate Pigorio… maybe he ordered the job on the truck.. Lookrazy confirms Pigorio’s motive… Inspector buys the bait… noone would have motive? … well, there is another one.. the son, Antonio Negrete.
Lookrazy insists this is a setup by Cameela, Pedro keeps denying that.. YAWN. Lookrazy changes strategy, she accepts she took measures to separate Pedro and Cameela, but she would never go as far as trying to kill him… besides, she accepts that he should be with Cameela.. Pedro says he is even helping her find a place to live.
At Rennie’s .. Cameela throws the million dollar question.. where do you get the idea that my mom has money, because I know you are marrying her because you believe she is rich… Who told you that? Tracy? No. don’t know where you heard that but leave now.
Cameela threats him one last time to cancel it all because the wedding will not happen!
She whiffs away, he bites his lip holding his rage.
Elviral and Armani keep going over the problem of Cameela dating a married man. Armani says what is important is your wedding today. She turns back to happy/elated, its a fairy tale… Armani is happy to see her so happy… wouldn’t you want to see me so happy? Elviral says of course, but with a girl that has nothing to do with the Negretes.. Armani leaves angry, there is no way to get through to her that he cares about Fabi.
Said Fabi and her dad… Antonio insists he wants to meet Armani. Sure you will meet him soon.. then Fabi slips that Flo has a new boyfriend… it isn’t that ElTal worker, is it? (oopsie!) he asks again, but she won’t say anymore… he asks her not to hide anything from him… what if it IS someone from ElTal? Well, we would have to talk about it (how to kill the guy?) don’t hide anything from me. No matter what I will support you 2 (sisters)
Sarita and Gabr at tree… they talk about the ‘relationship with benefits’ deal with Flo and Claudio… Gabr says Clau is happy… she is not sold… he isn’t either, fears Clau will end up hurt…
Claudio and Flo also talk about her dad’s opposition… Clau is ready to do whatever it takes to get her to love him…
Antonio asks Valentin to find out about Flo and Claudio if it is him, he wants her to be able to visit him… but only at his gravesite!. Are you serious? Completely. Yo kill him. Isn’t there any other way to keep them apart?.. you are not listening. I want you to kill him. But of course noone especially my daughters or Doris can find out about it.
Inspector did not come about the truck incident (and you say that now??) but about Mariana’s whereabouts… he confirmed the calls came from Fresno. [Inspector has remembered the clues Antonio gave him] asks Pedro who would benefit if Mariana showed up? IF Mariana showed up, would you have the money to return her loan? Pedro does not like where this questioning is going… Inspector says well, it would not benefit you that she actually came back, but it would benefit you that everyone believed she was still alive. Patricia and Lookrazy back up Pedro’s argument. Inspector says Mariana calls can keep Pedro from getting accused of murder. Pedro insists the one behind this must be Pigorio!
Elviral is getting ready for wedding, Armani is dressed up… he keeps insisting he would like her to accept Fabiola. She is asking him not to mess up her makeup (OMG!! She is wearing a headband of same white material as the dress, right down to her ponytail!!)… door knoci… its Cameela… Elviral thanks her for not bringing Pedro… Cameela tells her she just talked to Rennie… no, we did not make ammends, on the contrary, he is not who you think he is… he believes you have lots of money and that is why he is marrying you. Again Elviral takes it to offense and rages at Cameela.. what money??!! The one that makes me suffer is you!! Armani gets on Elviral’s side on this argument… you want to ruin my marriage!! No matter what you do I will marry Rennie in 2 hours!... reword same argument back and fourth 3 fold!! Pedro does not love you as Rennie loves me! If not, why is he not divorced by now? … I love Rennie with all his defects, but that does not include being married… they get in tears.. let me realize my dream… Mom, I am just trying to make sure Rennie is not deceiving you… I want you to be happy with Rennie… you have not noticed? I really love him! (en serio??) .. alright mom, I hope I am wrong about Rennie and that you can be happy with him.. then show me. Come to the wedding. Support me. Alright… I only hope you won’t oppose that I bring Pedro.
At ElTal Pedro wants Teniente to explain… Again Inspector adds, he is interested for Mariana to show up so he can get divorced and marry Cameela.. Pedro offended now argues that what is important to him is that Mariana shows up alive and well…
Rennie on phone with Rita… they deduct it was Tracy who told Cameela about it… They are both upset… Rita rages that Rennie HAS to marry Elviral.. they need the money!!
Pigorio at The House of ladies, he grabs Bridgete by neck.. he is really angry about her hiding that Doris was working there… how could you not tell me??
Bri: But you loved it, didn’t you?
Pigorio: that is not the issue! You betrayed me!! You have kept it quiet all these years. As if you were crazy!! You owe me many favors!! That is why you had to tell me!!
Bridg: I warn you!! I you attack me again I swear I will tell Antonio why you married him to Doris!! (end of ep thriller moment)
Teniente reveals to Pedro that it was Antonio who brought up those ideas… no wonder!
Lookrazy does not doubt Antonio could accuse Pedro like that. Teniente asks Lookrazy if Antonio would go as far as hiring a woman to make the calls to accuse Pedro? Lookrazy stays quiet…
Fabiola remembers Antonio promises to back her up, but also remembers scary moment with Flo when they could hear Antonio beating her mother …
Alberta comes in and Fab confides in Alberta about Flo and Claudio… she is afraid of what her dad could do…
Doris thinks Pigorio needs to help her get rid of Cameela and harm Antonio…
Previews: will we have a wedding? Documents to sign and documents to cross hands (will and check, wedding certificate and check…)

La Que No Podía Amar #61 Wednesday 3/21/12
Labels: no-podia
Una Familia Con Suerte #174 Wed 3/21/12 so much stuff happens!
They have a fight, and the accordion is flung to the floor.
Moni tries to break up the fight, but ends up getting people mad at HER. Ana has a total fit and stomps out, followed by the others. Freddy is left, holding a giant balloon. He pops it with a pen and follows them out.
Pepe and Pancho have a heart-to-heart about Moni's leaving. They're wearing matching pajama bottoms. Pancho does a good job of cheering up his son.
Rebe calls Pancho, who responds just like Vins (Rebereberebe)...
At the airport, Mamazon looks just as absurd as ever... Pepe takes advantage of an opportunity for a slow-mo running moment and a tearful goodbye.
Rebe shows up to pull Temo out of school for a top-secret mission. . . "ir de pinta..." she will take him to the fair. huh?
Pancho butts heads with Pina and Vins, and Pancho says he'll no longer keep trying to have anything to do with them (you two smell like sulfur). After a huge amount of beating around the bush, Pina and Vins reveal their plan: they want to buy him out. They're cute, sitting him down in a chair and laying out all the things he could do with his free time. Pancho turns them down, but their interactions are positively hilarious. Pancho - I don't hate you... you're more like a pain in the [boioioioing], a rock in the tennis shoe.
I am immediately reminded that Chela is pregnant by the fact that she's painting stars on a wall. She counsels Ana to blame not Kari but Pina, and Enzo shows up with a huge heap of shopping bags full of baby stuff. are they jumping the gun? 9 months ahead of time.
Good lord, Candy is such a weak-willed dishrag. she's lying in an enormous bed with Napoleon, whining about how hard it is to be a "patrona."
On the scene of Rebe's kidnapping of Temo and taking him to the fair.
Fers apologizes to Pancho, but she'll be inviting Vins to her wedding. Pancho: Don diablo y dona diabla? Well, you've got no choice.
Ahh, aqui esta la neta, as they say. Rebe has something to ask Temo. He knows the fun has come to an end, and his hamburger freezes on its way to his mouth. She's worried about his grades, which seems like minimal rationale for this huge fair sequence, which must have been a pain to film.
While Monica is in France, Pepe meets a hot new mechanic.
Fred proposes to Ana. She stalls him for about 2 minutes, and says yes!
Meanwhile, Pancho is wearing a grotesque Pancho <3 a="" and="" br="" bunch="" employees="" for="" he="" his="" jacket.="" made="" of="" rebe="" removing="" s="" seductively="" shirts="" these="" to="" tshirt="" wear.="">
Frida, the hot mechanic is flirting rather aggressively with Pepe. She can joke with incomprehensible slang-y words just as well as Pepe and Pancho.
Now that Pina is back together with Vins, she's gotten mean again, a shift she demonstrates as she lays into Enzo for his "betrayal."
Beto: Chaos, ignominy, disaster! I've been called to speak to Vins!
Frida (mechanic chick) is a really perfect match for Pepe... she talks about her mom as "jefa," just like pepe has his "jefe." They enjoy some juice together.
Dona Fers is ALREADY getting into her wedding dress (with some assistance from Chela). Ana walks in and announces her proposal, super-excited, and the two ladies just look aghast and agape.3>

Una Familia Con Suerte #173 Wed 3/21/12 Sides are taken in two wars!
Candy asks Napo what's going on. "Things of business that wouldn't interest you." "But you had to come home so quickly from Las Vegas?!" "I had to make drastic decisions, I have many enemies." He wont let her meddle in his private business.
Candy remembers overhearing him telling Deborah: "Get back the USB and get rid of Sanches as fast as possible."
Vince is mad, he's throwing papers, because Pancho is on the first page of the paper, and he's the new owner of Avon. "Enzo, you must help me destroy him." But Enzo is silent - he's told Pancho "I'm on your side" ... and he's reconciling with Chela, who's having his baby!
Arnoldo to Rebe: "You aren't moved by, you don't care that Pancho is now so rrrrrich?" No, she doesn't care, and tells him not to meddle.
Pina and Vicente are going to oppose Pancho they ask Arnold "Whose side are you on?" "I am always on Pini's side!"
Vince is pressing on about his war. Enzo feels war is not necessary! "Are you with me or against me?" "But you are cousins." "But I detest him." Enzo declares for Pancho. Vince explodes, "I never want to see you again till the day I die! YOU'RE FIRED! You and he are of the lowest and most vulgar. You are still a carwasher at heart."
Chela happily tells Candy about her kiss with Enzo. Candy whispers: Napo is going to kill one of his rivals. "I don't want to spend the rest of my life at his side now that I see he's a murderer. "Get used to it or you'll die," Chela counsels.
Arnold, Vince, and Pina cement their alliance. "Let's destroy them!"
Enzo goes to see Rebe and Pancho. Pancho un-fires Enzo. "We must unite against the three of them! All for one and one for all!!"
Napo, without Candy, arrives for the family meeting Fer has called, with all his goons guarding him. Where's Candy? Temo is sulking in his room because of all the problems and doesn't want to do his homework. Chela is at his side but when Rebe arrives Temo throws himself into Rebe's arms!
Fer's announcement: she's marrying Doc Oc in a very simple ceremony with family and the most intimate friends, with a little after-party at Pancho's house. She will live with Doc Oc but will come to visit every day. Pancho floats a trial balloon of a proposal but she blows him off.
Freddy says the teenagers should have a good-bye party for Moni, right now.
Vince tells Kari he's disgusted to think of his son with Ana, he prefers Kari and her fine genes, blue eyes, and family money. EUGENICS R US.
Napo asks Pancho why he let Rebeca go. "Because I'm an idiot." "If you're trying to get her back, you're not being very effective." "It's not that easy - she isn't moved by material things."
Vince is sad that he's dumped Enzo after 20 years of friendship. Pina massages him in consolation. They plan an erotic evening.
The kids arrive at Enzo's house with flowers and accordion. Pepe sings Moni a love song. For a moment, all is happy, all is forgiven. However, Karina and Ana have a fight and Ana leaves. The flowers get trampled. Over to you, Ezra!

Abismo de pasión #7 3/20/12: She's Makin' a List...and Rollin' Her Eyes...
Casa Castañon:
Gunshot!
Lolita and Carmina let themselves into Augusto’s office – María Santísima, they had a key the whole time – and…it turns out he shot the wallpaper. “I’m a coward!” he sobs. Yeah, no kidding. What a waste of chili peppers.
The Citrus Sister hangs around to try to cheer him up as only she can. “She’s not worth suffering over; just forget about her. But meanwhile, what shall we do with her inconvenient corpse?” Augie says Estefanía will never enter this house again, nor will he ever speak her name. Coz that’s what love means, right?
[Poor Estefanía. I will miss her. She’s the only telenovela gal I’ve seen who can walk across the room in high hells without looking like a ten-dollar rental.]
Carmina goes out to tell the Body Squad to take her sister away. Blanca shows up with Elisa and tells them to take the body to the church for a funeral mass. Carmina starts to argue with her, pointing out that they are not a Catholic family, but Blanca is having none of it. Estefanía has been Catholic for a long time. Blanca wins.
[All of this calls the whole Linda-Blair-in-the-confessional scene into question, of course. Clearly Carmina is not Catholic, so she shouldn’t have been in there to begin with. And why would the Padre be bound to keep quiet about anything BeelzeBarbie says? Oh well; I guess it isn’t any weirder than the fact that the baby birds started out as parrots and ended up as doves.]
Meanwhile, Augie starts drinkin’. Well, somebody had to – it’s telenovela law, you know.
Church and Cemetery:
Rosendo’s funeral is very well attended, while Estefanía is off in a side-chapel with only Elisa, Lolita, Lucio and Blanca, and the Padre to attend her. Naturally both parties end up in the cemetery at the same time, and naturally – or unnaturally, I guess I should say – Alfonsina makes a big scene. She refuses to enter until the Castañon party has vacated the premises. When Damián moves forward to comfort Elisa, Alfie announces in front of God and everybody that he is forbidden to have anything to do with “the daughter of the woman who killed your father.” [What is with this chick? Did she get blackballed from the Little Chili Peppers sorority in junior high?] Padre Lupe finally shakes himself out of his dreamy trance and tells her to shut up. In the nicest possible way, of course.
Lucio, in a very classy move, asks Gael to escort the ladies back to Casa Castañon (they have been joined by Ramona and Paloma at this point.) He and Blanca will stay for the burial of Don Rosendo.
Later at Casa Arango:
The Padre brings Damián the amulet his father was wearing when he died. He thought he would want to have it. As the Padre leaves – he sure looks cute in his little dress! – Damián gets his mother’s abandoned amulet and holds the two together in his hand.
Gabino comes to pay his respects and tell Doña Alfonsina that he is at her service. [You know, that Gabino could be a bit of all right if he’d cut his hair and suds his pits a little. But I digress.] She accuses him of being complicit in her husband’s affairs, but he says that doing what he was told did not mean he approved. All right, then, you want to help? Cancel the contracts with the Castañon farm. I don’t want anything to do with those people ever again.
Back at Casa Castañon:
Carmina tells Gael to beat it; they don’t feel like socializing. Always the hostess. Meanwhile, Lucio berates Augusto – come out of your office already! Think of your daughter! Looks like wardrobe has given Augie a second fright wig to wear on top of the first one; no wonder he doesn’t want to go out. As he leaves, Lucio confronts Carmina about the amazing coincidence of her and Rosendo planning to leave town at the same time. “I had nothing to do with that man,” she says. Oh yeah? Then why were you arguing that day at the procesadora? Well, of course I went to tell him to stay away from my sister. “I don’t believe a word of it,” Lucio says. “And I hope one day God will make it all clear.” Honey, you better hope she doesn’t take to killin’, coz you’ll be number one on the list.
Entre las Dos Casas:
Presumably these houses are only about 14 feet apart, because people seem to teleport between them. Gabino catches Carmina skulking around the hallway and takes the opportunity to blackmail her – you’d better pay me off, or everyone will know it was really you who caused all this mess. She poofs back to her sister’s bedroom, where she raids the jewelry box. This better shut him up, she says to herself in the mirror, or I’ll kill him. Gabino moves to number one! Guau, that didn’t take long.
Elisa confronts her auntie about what she’s doing in Mom’s bedroom. Carmina says you mouthy little brat, your mama was too permissive with you, that’s the problem – from now on things will be different. Unfortunately, we believe her.
At the Church:
Ramona tells the padre that she was present at the accident and that the car was returning to La Eremita, not leaving -- and also she heard Steffi’s last words, something like, “I had to stop him, or them.” What’s more, she overheard Rosendo earlier in the day arguing with a woman who was definitely not Steffi. “Who was it? Who? Who?” squeaks the padre, apparently suffering a bout of amnesia (or misplaced professional discretion.) Sorry, I didn’t see her face. [You're going on the list sooner or later, hon, but for now we'll write your name in pencil.]
At the Blue House:
Carmina shows up to pay Gabino off with a pearl necklace. What am I supposed to do with this? It’s not like I can sell it. That’s what you get, she says; it’s all I have. What about this house? Don Rosendo put it in your name. [Yeah, it’s so much easier to sell a house than a necklace. No wonder you’re such a captain of industry.] She says don’t play games with me – you’ve got as much to lose as I do. If I tell Alfonsina how deep you were into all this subterfuge, there’s no way you’ll ever be the Big Chili Pepper at the factory, and there go your delusions of grandeur. She tells him he makes her sick and marches out to the front patio, where she really does look sick.
Penultimate Shocker:
That nasty little Begoña visits Alfonsina and manages to insinuate – hell, she actually comes out and says – that Augusto knew about the “affair,” he was wildly jealous, and she wouldn’t be surprised if he provoked the accident somehow. Which means, of course, that Augusto killed your husband. Shouldn’t he pay for that? Huh? Shouldn’t he? Guess she didn’t get into the Little Chili Peppers either. And they probably drew a mean picture of her on the playground sidewalk.
Ultimate Shocker:
Carmina topples backward on the church steps and her eyes roll back in her head, which is to say, she looks the same as usual – horizontal and crazy – but for once she’s not running her mouth, so they get worried and take her to the doctor. ¡Sorpresa! You’re pregnant...Señorita. Wonder how long it will take Mrs. Dr. Begoña to shop that all over town? Orangina better get fizzy in a hurry – and we know with whom…

La Que No Podía Amar #60 Tuesday 3/20/12 Puppydog eye overdrive, confused Cupcake, idiotic Gustavito
Puppydog eye overdrive, confused Cupcake, idiotic Gustavito.
The recap is going to take a little longer to cook up, because my CCs crapped out for almost the first half of the episode. I am switching to SpanCC but will attempt to do a bulleted-style summary based on listening comprehension alone. Which will soon expose how much I suck at listening comprehension alone. (Only the first part had no CCs. Thankfully I didn't have to recap the whole thing CC-less!)
SEMI-LONG SUMMARY (Events may not be listed in order, but you should be able to figure it out!)
* We start with a repeat of our raven-haired, puppy-dog eyed douchebag, pleadingly asking a wet and drippy Cupcake if she could possibly squeeze out a teensy, weensy bit of love for him? If there was no novio? She doesn't really give him a definitive no, which I suppose gives him a little hope. He eventually takes his leave so she can rest. After he leaves, she drips some more tears and whines to herself, that Rohell doesn't understand that she will never be able to love him.
A concerned Rohell at her bedside. |
Appealing to the crying Cupcake. |
Beseeching looks with heavy-duty puppy dog eye action. |
* Cupcake and Dani get to speak about what's going down when Rohell leaves. First Cupcake whines about how the Gustavito is Sin's novio now, horror of horrors! Drip, drip, drippy tears. She also contemplates the possibility that Gustavito could end up being her brother-in-law. Yikes.
* Vainessa plots and plans with her Evil Team to get the Rancho la Negra, in order to cut off water from Rohell.
* Sin calls Vain and kvetches about how Cupcake stole her thunder at the dinner by fainting. No one was paying attention to Sin and her new novio. The two brujas complain about this for a while.
* Cupcake and Dani finally connect the dots and deduce that it's highly unlikely that Rohell ordered the hit on the Gustavito, seeing as Rohell is blissfully ignorant about what's going on and seems to really like Gustavito. They then wonder about who is responsible for the beating of Gustavito? We have several conversations throughout the episode where it sinks in further that Cupcake was horribly, horribly wrong about Rohell's level of douchebaggery. "He's actually a marvelous man" she laments, feeling bad for ripping him a new one so many times.
Finally figuring out that Rohell, while a douchebag, isn't so much of a douchebag that he'd order for Gustavito to be beaten. Like, it took them long enough! |
* Even though they know that Rohell doesn't know who Gustavito is, and didn't order him beaten, they now worry that should Rohell find out, he'd freak out in some jealous rage and maybe kill the Gustavito. [Now, I have trouble believing this. Rohell's a douchebag with a whip, but I don't see him inflicting too much damage on Gus with it. Gus is apt to fight back. Nor do I see Rohell ordering someone else to hurt Gus. Unless Rohell is carrying his rifle when he hears the news—I suppose that would be a bad time for him to find out. In any case, I don't see Rohell killing anyone. Rohell is a freak, but not a murderous one.]
* Cupcake, Dani, and now MentiRosa worry about what to do, what to do now that Gustavito is here and Rohell is still in the dark. Do nothing, pretend she doesn't know him, seems to be the consensus. More crying from Cupcake.
* Vain pays the owner of the Negra ranch and asks for "discretion" so he won't tell Rohell. Bruno is on hand to give some B.S. reason about how he's Rohell's lawyer and doesn't want Rohell to know that he's been dealing with this land deal. The former owner has no problem with that, says something about he's going to go to Tuxtla.
* Gustavito hears from the Mean Girls (Vain and Sin) of all of Cupcake's supposed sins as a gold digger. She "stole" the douchebag away from Vainessa. She's brought her whole freeloading family out the Hacienda. She's trying to steal away Vain's inheritance. Complain, complain, complain. He soaks it all up, as we expected. Idiot.
Filling the Gustavito's head full of lies. |
* Consuelo finds out from Maria that Efrian was fired from the Hacienda. Maria doesn't know why Rohell fired him. Consuelo worries that Efrian got fired because Rohell found about him and Sin.
* Outside Macaria's Fonda in San Gabriel, David approaches Sin and Gus. Sin tells David that the Gustavito is now her novio! So there! David doesn't like it.
Sin needs to not wear heels when she's standing next to Gustavito. Just saying. |
* That idiot Chio visits Mersnotty to cry about how things have gone belly up with Esteban. When Mersnotty admits that she encouraged Esteban to clear things up with Chio, Chio thinks that the breakup with Esteban is all Mersnotty's fault. Mersnotty tries to protest, but Chio leaves in a huff and believes that Mersnotty's after Esteban herself. FF>>
* Over breakfast in the terrace, we have a cozy quartet with Sin, Gustavito, Rohell, and Cupcake. Rohell is in a good mood as he encourages Gus to stay and work for him at the Hacienda. At first Gus resists, but eventually agrees. Gus is very icy towards Cupcake, which somehow is completely missed by Rohell and Sin.
Cupcake sits across from the Gustavito at breakfast. |
The Gustavito gives Cupcake the stinkeye as Sin slobbers all over him. |
Rohell is cheerfully oblivious to Cupcake's and Gustavito's unease at the breakfast table. |
Rohell warmly welcomes the Gustavito to the Hacienda. |
* MentiRosa and Bruno plot and plan. They don't like how obvious Gustavito is when he looks longingly at the Cupcake. Something must be done to separate them. There is more talk about getting Cupcake to sign some paper (I think Tia's being Cupcake's legal representative?). Then they discuss how they're on the same team, shouldn't betray each other, yadda yadda. FF >>
* More talk between Dani and Cupcake about how much Rohell obviously loves the Cupcake, and how he didn't order Gus beaten after all. Now she knows that she's been unfair to Rohell, he's a great guy (except for that violent thing), blah blah, but her heart belongs to that ungrateful idiot Gustavito.
* Consuelo asks Sin about how Effer got fired. Sin says it was because Effer failed to look after her (i.e. hover over her sufficiently) well enough for Rohell. Sin acts completely nonchalant and apathetic about Effer losing his job because of her. She tells Consuelo not to worry, Effer is on holiday with Macaria and her family. Consuelo looks a bit concerned about this.
Margarito is pleased to hear about a proposed classroom, with Cupcake teaching! |
Rohell smiles in return, showing off his dimples. |
* Later Rohell tells Maria that he wants the Cupcake to feel more relaxed and at ease, and if Miguel is doing well, that will accomplish that. He also says he likes to see the Cupcake smile. Maria is glad to see Rohell enthusiastic about something.
* Dani and Cupcake go to town, where they meet Vain. She tries to bribe Cupcake with her half of the dad's fortune (the half she's entitled to anyway) if she'll divorce Rohell. Cupcake says, nothing doing, it's pointless now anyway, and besides, there's more to life than money. Vain is nasty and grasps her wrist and is a total bruja.
Bruja in a hideous dress. (See Audrey's modified screen cap here, with Vainessa having alien eyes. Thanks Audrey!) |
* Bruno goes to Gustavito and says he was "the other guy" that Cupcake was hooked up with, but then he (Bruno) sadly introduced her to Rohell, and she dumped Bruno for Rohell. Bruno says he is "discreet" about being Cupcake's squeeze before she got her greedy gold-digging hands on Rohell. Of course the Gustavito drinks this up as well as gospel.
The lying, tie-dyed bastard. (Thank you Sara for that line!) |
* Vain plots and plans with David to buy the Rancho Negra (or whatever it's called). They conceal from Sin about how much a betrayal this is to Rohell, or how much this may screw over the Hacienda and as a result, Sin's half of the fortune. They sell this idea to Sin by saying that she can tell her brother that unless he gives her her half of the inheritance, the water will be cut off from the Hacienda. Sin seems to be going along with this.
Vainessa convinces Sin to betray her brother. |
* Rohell grills Miguel for personal likes and dislikes of Cupcake, like her favorite perfume and favorite flower. Rohell tells Miguel that he just wants to show Cupcake how much he cares for her and loves her.
* Efrain shows Macaira (or however you spell it) and Maripaz around Mexico City. Macaria says she loves her hubby, but it's kinda boring in San Gabriel. She wants to go out drinking and dancing that night. Efrain says it's his duty to take them! But when they get to a club that night, Maripaz bows out early, because she wants to get up early to check out the college. Uh-oh, Viewerville doesn't like the sound of this.
Effer and Macaria drink at a nightclub, but Maripaz (the blue drink is hers) wants to go to bed early. This does not sound like a good plan. |
* Rohell doesn't trust Vainessa and doesn't want Sin working for her. He'd prefer Sin work for/with him. She knows that he hasn't mishandled the estate, but actually has made the Hacienda flourish. But she doesn't want to work with him and be under his thumb. He warns her that Vainessa wants to use her. OF course she doesn't believe it. He ends by saying that he's not worried that she (Sin) would do anything—he knows she'd never betray him. Impactada look from Sin.
He knows Sin would never betray him. |
But Sin's an idiot about this, so all bets are off. |
* The Gustavito rips Cupcake a new one. She tries to explain that she was "protecting" him from Rohell, whom she had assumed had ordered the beating of Gus (but now she knows she's wrong). Gus doesn't believe any of this, and chastises her for deceiving such a nice guy like Rohell, who clearly cares for her and loves her. Cupcake is all drippy and teary and tries to explain that it isn't like that, but Gus is like, talk to the hand, and full of self-righteous idiocy.
Cupcake tries to explain to the stubborn, self-righteous Gustavito. |
But of course he's got his mind made up, no reason to listen to her! |
* David pays a visit to Rohell and says it's time to "pay" for not pressing charges on Miguel for the fake theft of the truck. What he wants is to have his debt (which is in the millions) cleared for pardoning Miguel. Rohell sputters at the price, but we end the episode with David giving Rohell a pointed look and Rohell looking stern and gulping.
*Gulp* |
THE END!
Avances: Rivalry. Bruno and Tia plotting. Rohell, Cupcake, dimples, flowers and candles. Awwww. Here are gratuitous screenshots from the avances, added just because I can:

Una Familia Con Suerte #171-172 Tue 3/20/12 (last half hour only)
Rebeca is still dour and resentful. Pancho wants her to take dictation of a letter apologizing to her, but she demurs, so he has the secretary come in and write a decidedly non-businesslike letter: "I was jealous and insecure and, well, Chela..." "DON'T MENTION HER TO ME," seethes Rebeca. "Well, I hurt you both. I went for what was easy and familiar. Now I know I must dedicate my life to you." He has the secretary make her a hard copy and gives it to her in a fancy leather folder. She is unimpressed. He will have to apologize about 25 more times, I am estimating.
Freddy got pummeled by Napo's Amazonian sidekick Deborah, because his father Veens called Candy.
Moni and Pepe have had a fight - her best/only friend Kari refuses to stop trying to seduce Freddy away from Ana, and Pepe is ticked off, seriously. He says, "you can't continue to be her friend," Moni counters: "I'm going to France with my mother tomorrow." That ticks him off even more.
Pancho gives a pep-talk to the Avon workers: now that he is owner as well as president, he's going to institute some kind of profit-sharing, so the more productive they are, the better they'll all do. "You are the soul of Avon," he says, all applaud.
Rebeca and Chela are both in the audience. Chela pulls Rebeca aside to say: "Enzo says he and I cannot love freely until everybody involved has apologized to everybody else. I always knew Pancho loved you, I was deceiving myself. I can't have Enzo unless you forgive Pancho."
Tomas has been accepted at the Police Academy. He wants to work for justice for the poor! He looks very hot these days, I'm glad he lost the cornrows.
Napo gets a happy peck of a kiss from Chela, returning from HER RADIO STATION. He tells her she can't call him Napolito in public. Vince arrives! Yelling "You can't hurt my nenenenene!" all the goons have their guns pointed at him.
Napo calls off his dogs and gives Vince tequila and an excellent Vera Cruz cigar which Vince enjoys so much, he doesn't notice Candy is standing right next to her ancient husband! At first he says he called Candy "by accident," then he promises there will be no more calls, it was a mistake. "IT WAS A MISTAKE" he yells.
Chela comes to Pancho's office, congratulates him on his speech to the workers, tells him "Enzo says I must forgive you. I was a fool, I lived in Pancholandia because it was familiar..." "Now you can live in Enzolandia," he jokes. "Maybe it was habit, not love," she says, and forthwith forgives him, shakes his hand, and then says, "but the hardest part is, now Rebeca has to forgive you!"
Veens, scowling at a newspaper trumpeting Pancho's now-ownership of Avon, mutters, "We need a new strategy." Tomorrow: Vince, Pina, and Arnold on one team; Enzo, Pancho, and Rebeca on the other. What a bunch of babies!

Una Familia Con Suerte #169-170 Mon 3/19/12
First, there’s the one with Pina and Arnold. Basically, Pina tells Arnold that she wants to consult a doctor because she wants to have another child with Vicente.
The second conversation is between Enzo and Lidia. Lidia won’t give up on the person she wants. Enzo really doesn’t want to start any sort of relationship with her.
At that same time, he gets a call from Chela who asks if he’d accompany her to Candy’s wedding. He says he can’t because he has to work. Poor Chela.
Pancho also gets a call from Napoleon who confirms Pancho’s attendance at the wedding. Pancho asks Napoleon to think about whether or not this wedding is the best thing for Candy. He loves her, but does she feel the same? Hmmm.
Of course, Candy’s wedding is quite extravagant. Pina and Vicente appear and surprise Candy. Pina wastes no time in informing Candy that she and Vicente are together again and that they’ve found love once again. This doesn’t set well with Candy. Pina demonstrates affection and love for Vicente. She’s pretty cruel, actually. No wonder the kids kept calling her Cruela. In fact, Vicente even asks why Pina had to be so cruel.
Pina meets with and talks to Napoleon, while Debora makes sure that Candy straightens up and flies right. She needs to wipe her tears and move forward.
Pina asks Napoleon to leave Freddy alone and not threaten him anymore. She also asks if they can be friends. He agrees, but in his own subtle way, he lets her know that he knows EVERYTHING that’s going on in their lives, including the fact that she wants another child.
While Pancho is waiting for the rest of the Lopez clan to come outside to the Burra so that they can leave for the wedding, he calls Rebe and asks for her forgiveness. She still won’t. He even invites her to the wedding. Time, Pancho…Time. You’ll have to go through some things first.
Dona Fer is the first to be ready and joins Pancho. They talk for a bit. We learn how it is that Vicente is her nephew. He is her sister’s son. Pancho realizes that he and Vicente are cousins! It cracks him up.
At the gym, Enzo and Rebe run into one another and have a chat. She congratulates him on the baby and asks if he got back together with Chela. He says no. They continue to talk, and even though Rebe doesn’t want to talk about Pancho, Enzo warns her that he will need all of their support at work, because Vicente might want to overpower Pancho due to the number of stocks he has in the company. Hmmm…Vicente has stock, and so does Pina. They’ve gotten back together. I guess the stocks got back together as well, huh??? Oh, Vicente! We know your scheme.
Enzo and Rebe continue to talk, and she encourages him to try again with Chela, especially since they’re about to be parents. He encourages her to give Pancho another chance.
Back at the wedding, Chela shows up and tries to cheer up Candy.
Shortly thereafter, Pancho and crew show up. Guess who else shows up? Karina. And, there begin to be problems between Ana and Freddy.
Candy and Napoleon marry; although, Candy doesn’t seem very convinced or happy. Napoleon, knowing this very well, reaffirms that he will do everything he can to make her happy.
At the party, Lupita and Ana chat. Ana is bummed because she wants to dance with Freddy, but he’s nowhere to be found. Hmmm, come to think of it, neither is Karina. Oh boy!
Pancho finds Vicente and Pina and has quite an enjoyable time letting them know that they are related! Vicente and Pina are not thrilled with this idea. Pancho also came to the discovery that Ana and Freddy are also related…second cousins. Vicente and Pina freak out about this.
Kari goes to look for Freddy, and Ana spots her. She shows Karina who’s boss. Freddy is Ana’s man. Chaos erupts. Even Monica asks Karina what possessed her to show up to the wedding. Karina informs everyone that Pina invited her. Monica gets her out of there. Meanwhile, Ana tells Freddy that she’s fed up with Pina’s antics and deeds to separate them.
In a private but elegant room, Napoleon shows Candy a folder with various papers. In that folder is proof that Pina went to go see a doctor because she wants a child. In that folder was also a full report of every woman with whom Vicente had relations. Candy doesn’t want to see it and asks Napoleon to stop pouring salt in the wound.
He does make her happy though. He shows her a deed. This is a document which shows Candy as the new owner of the radio station which produces her show. Go Candy!
Meanwhile, Pancho, Chela, Vicente and Pina, Ana, and Freddy are talking or arguing. Vicente and Pina are trying to make the kids see that their relationship is incestuous and should not be. The kids won’t relent and know there has to be a way for their love to triumph. Pina especially is freaking out.
Napoleon can’t wait for his first night with Candy as husband and wife. Candy is hesitant…unsure.
Monica and Karina talk. Monica basically warns Karina to be careful and not to let herself be manipulated by Pina. Karina is in love, and she will not listen to reason. She just knows she wants to fight for Freddy.
Ana and Freddy do a bit of research and present it to their folks. Basically, if they choose to have kids in the future, they probably wouldn’t be affected. Vicente and Pina still don’t agree.
Enzo and Monica go and visit Violeta in the hospital. She’s full of remorse. Monica is in good spirits.
Violeta lets them know that she’s planning on going to France to a hospital where she knows she can get special treatment. She asks Monica to go to France with her.
The Lopez siblings are coming up with some kind of scheme (I mean a helping hand) regarding Lupita and Tomas. Oh boy.
We then have kind of a cute scene between Pancho and Rebe. He goes into her office bringing tamales for her. She thanks him. He asks to talk to her and says that it is work related. She accepts and begins to let him know what Enzo told her in confidence. When Vicente’s name is mentioned, he lets her know that he discovered they were cousins. This causes Rebe to smile and laugh, and Pancho wastes no time in complimenting her. He lets her know that it’s how he likes to see her…smiling. Of course, she immediately wipes off the smile. Poor Pancho. You’ve gotta feel bad for the guy.
We have a “cursy” scene with Pina and Vicente. They’re letting the whole office know who loves whom more. Whatever. Enzo witnesses the whole thing. When Vicente and Enzo talk, Vicente admits he never stopped loving Candy even though he loves Pina. Red flags.
Candy also needs to be careful. Chela notices, while conversing, that Candy is already thinking of how she’s going to “enjoy” this marriage for as long as she has to be in it. After all, he bought her a radio station, so why not? Of course, if Candy’s not careful, Napoleon could find out Candy’s true intentions (taking advantage of him and his money). Chela warns her.
We then have a whole lot of shaking going on throughout the city. Tomas goes to visit Lupita at the Casa Popular, and the earthquake begins. They try and get the kids out of the way. At Avon, Rebe begins freaking out regarding the earthquake. Pancho is right there with her. Of course, his arms protect her until everything stops shaking.
Several folks talked about their earthquake fears. Rebe was in a building during the earthquake of 1985, and she feared the building would collapse. Enzo also was shaken up by the earthquake.
Back at the neighborhood, things are a mess. The Campos’ house is a mess, and Elena is freaking out. Tomas and the kids are worried because Lupita is nowhere to be seen or found. She actually goes back to the Casa Popular to save a little girl. She’s trapped, as part of the roof fell on her, and Tomas has a hard time saving her. Of course, he does.
Rebe and Pancho talk about the advantages of him accepting Dona Fer’s offer regarding inheriting her Avon stocks. The more they talk, the more they revert back to how they used to be. Of course, Rebe won’t quite accept it yet, but her anger is slowly subsiding. We still have a ways to go though.
There’s a brief scene where Lidia says goodbye to Pancho. She’s going back to Miami, where she already has a life. Things didn’t work out with Enzo.
In her office, when nobody’s looking, Rebe thinks back to and enjoys Pancho’s detail regarding the tamales. She smiles. She also thinks back to the earthquake. She can’t get Pancho out of her mind.
Candy and Napoleon talk about love and Blackjack. Interesting. He really does seem to love her. He asks for her forgiveness because of how he forced things and their relationship. Of course, she’ll mess things up.
Freddy interrupts Vicente, as he is deep in thought regarding Candy’s wedding. He wants Vicente’s help in telling Pina not to interfere in his and Ana’s relationship.
Chela and Enzo are thrilled as they both look at and enjoy their ultrasound. They’re about to kiss.
Monica and Pepe talk, and she breaks the news to Pepe about being asked to go to France. Pepe freaks out at first but seems to understand. Neither of them know what to do without the other in their lives.
We go back to Vicente and Freddy. Vicente doesn’t really seem to want to do much to help him regarding Pina.
Rebe visits Pina and lets her know that she’s concerned about the company and about what Vicente will do with his power and ownership of stocks in the company.
The last scene is back at the neighborhood, with medics and police and everyone there not allowing Pancho to go in and help save Lupita.
