La Fea Más Bella #205 2/7/07 2166666.66 and Fer, you are stuck with Aldo to the rescue now, and Luigi, you with Lety!
Lui tells Aldo to begin he needs to find out from his friend what kind of budget he had in mind because he wants to start developing it and now he’s like “with my hands tied.” Aldo tells him what you have to understand is that we are moving to another dimension now, I spoke with Lety and…Lui snubs him for being her friend. Aldo smirks.
Lety decides to begin, Mar picks up the phone and Lui tells Irma to pick it up thinking it’s Rulli and he wants her to tell him he’s busy (fawning over Aldo), but it’s not, it’s Mar who yells at him to get to the meeting Lui tells her not to yell “Miss Bitter Sourpuss” and he’s glad he’s not her husband, and this is why she’s going to stay an old maid! Aldo tells him he’d like to tell him something before he goes, but Lui says he’ll be back soon.
He asks Irma for his dark glasses, in case he pulls a face, Valerian root if they upset him and a magazine to entertain himself, and tells Aldo these meetings are intolerable. Aldo calls Irma “guapa” “beautiful” he’s such a flirt, and she is impactada. Not sure that was professional.
Didn’t know Celso was a bluesman, but he plays harmonica out front, and looks much sexier in his sleeveless duds than most security guys I see around. Dona Juli shows up out of nowhere casually strolling in with Moty. She says she can’t stand being alone in her house so she came to Conceptos, saying her whole family is there. Wonder how Moty feels about this trip? If Erasmo has the car, did they have to take the Micro?
Lopez decides to start being professional and offers everyone drinks or peanuts. They all decline except for Tomas until Lety quiets him. So Lui gets to the meeting and tells Miss Sourpuss that he arrived. He wonders what Lety and Tommy are doing there noting his tuft like Woody Woodpecker. Marcia yells at him to sit. He asks if they are going to raffle off the presidency. He suggests that they make him Miss President because it seems there are no prerequisites and Marcia agrees you have to have no special qualities as she beams death Lety’s way. Fer laughs falsely and suggests that we stop the jokes and continue. He grabs Lety’s arm affectionately and tells her to continue.
Lety tells the rest of them that the judge agreed to an extension in which to pay the debts, but it’s only for 3 months. Everyone is impactada, especially Marcia. Lety continues that it’s 2166666.66 dolares per month. (Actually, they have to pay 2166666.67 for two of them :) )
PM tells Juli she chose a bad day as everyone is in a meeting and she doesn’t think Lety can see her. Of course Simon goes on his rant about how things are heating up around there. PM tells Juli she can wait and they are concerned about the outcome of the meeting and whether they will have jobs.
Marci doesn’t understand why they accepted that condition. Lui- Do you think you’re going to rob a bank or how do you think you’ll pay for the number again but wrong last digit. It looks like we are in the hands of an enemy. Lety - We told the judge our backs are up against a wall, but he wasn’t listening to anything. Fer says if we don’t accept it the business will be liquidated immediately. Mar asks Lety if she has a suggestion as Presidenta, and Lui says that this woman isn’t Copperfield or a genius he asks how do you think we are going to resolve this gigantic problem?
Fer understands it’s difficult, but not impossible and he and Omar were trying to look at ways to do it, but they didn’t come up with anything. He grabs on the arm very tenderly for Lety to continue again, and this time Mar notices it.
Lety has a proposal to make. Luigi tells everyone to prepare to listen to some kind of horror. She has a project that is dedicated to the international market. Omar says, so you mean it’s not something that is aimed to be consumed here? Everyone is surprised at how brilliant Omar was to figure that out, wink wink. She says it will have to be broadcast here in our country too, but principally directed at making foreigners come here. Fer says so you think this is going to get us the money we need? Lety says she has to run the numbers but to start she thinks they can get the money. Lui sarcastically says - Hurrah Hurrah, Double Hurrah!
She continues explaining there are about 8-10 interested advertisers and she figures we can make about that number of commercials a month. Lui - This woman is cuckoo, she’s going to make us crazy. -You think we can make 10 commercials in a month? We aren’t breadcrumbs or little shellfish?
Fer tells everyone to listen to her plan and grabs her a third time after yelling at Luigi again. Omar wants to know what the product will be. Lety says Mexican cuisine. We are selling our traditional cuisine to the foreigners, so that foreigners come to Mexico for the cuisine. At that Lui gasps. That project is mine! He drops some Valerian. The way he goes through that stuff he should just have a flask of it like the Abogados. :)
PM tells Juli why they might lose their jobs because of their breakfast escapade with the Guapote. She says he’s also a friend of Luigi. Julieta says you wanted to go to breakfast with him and that’s why you were late? Pm says yes, they almost fired us, but as it turns out, that man is also friends with Lety! Simon argues about whether he is that good looking.
Pm assures her, “Yes Julieta he’s verrrry attractive!” Just then Aldo walks up behind her.
Lui - Not even the valerian is helping my mimisqui now. What anger! Mar wants him to explain but he says no. Lety wants Lui to explain why he thinks the project is his, Fer says leave his anger for later, they have to concentrate on this and he grabs Lety a fourth time.
Aldo greets Juli and tells her he’s heard of grand cooking, and they should discuss recipes. Juli tells him Lety told her he too is a great chef.
Caray, right about now, I’m sick of these meetings.
Lety explains the project with the Resturant Association’s interest in promoting Mexican cuisine. Mar thinks it sounds logical. Tomas offers how much publicity money the industry spends a year. Lety talks about advertisers on the telethon and Mar isn’t convinced they can handle such a large project. She thinks it’s too risky. Besides this is coming from a woman who may know a lot about finance but nothing about production.
Luigi agrees and appears to nix the project. Mar thinks their aspirations are too high and Fer thinks they should listen to the plan. Lui says Fer doesn’t count anymore. Lety says yes he does. Fer questions him since he said it was his project originally. Lui wants to handle it with elegance though, and doesn’t think Lety has any clue about that, that she is naïve and looks at everything ignorantly thinking what you don’t know won’t hurt.
Fer tells her not to worry about Lui’s smart comments and her reaches to grab her arm again, but misses and rubs Tom’s. Tom affectionately pats him back. Fer is oblivious, until…..
Lety says this idea of cuisine isn’t completely mine, that my friend is the knowledgeable one. M-So can we learn who is your friend? Lety says sure, Aldo. Fer is impactado. NOOOOOO!!!!
He doesn’t think he’d like to work with him, if you were asking him. He doesn’t want Aldo on the project. Lui - Your boyfriend, Mar, isn’t even capable of give a good and logical explanation. Luigi remarks that he is close-minded and is mad that Fer doesn’t want Aldo involved. Marci wants to know what he has against him. F- Nothing concrete, just that he doesn’t strike him well.
Lety tells him that’s not a good argument. He does good work. Aldo will give us a great opportunity to pay the debt at least for this month, no? M- You don’t want to support the cuisine tourism? Fer studders then finally admits he has no better proposal so we have to study this.
Juli is talking to Aldo, telling him how wonderful Lety has been since she came back, that she even painted a beach scene on her wall and she’s more sure of herself, and content etc. PM agrees but is still trying to flirt with Aldo. The phone rings and PM tells Simon they need him upstairs for something. Jealous Simon doesn’t want to go.
Aldo was thinking of taking a walk, and he invites Julieta to go with. She agrees.
Back at the Junta, Lety says each commercial brings in about 200,000, so Omar works his little brain to come up with the idea that if they can produce 8 or 9 commercials we can almost get to 2mil. $. She thinks they make up the rest with radio spots or other venues. Lety says we still can’t count on anything but I think we have the talent to pull this off.
Luigi wants to know where the storyboards are for each of these commercials and essentially whines about being able to accomplish the task and thinks she’s dreaming. He complains that she wants him to dedicate himself to the naconess. Lety thinks he’s talented enough to handle it.
Lety - We can count on the support of Fabiola and Gregorio and other directors under your supervision. Omar says they have the two studios they haven’t paid for yet and now they can make use of both. Again everyone is just charmed with his brilliance. Mar says before anything else we have to make sure there are enough advertisers interested in participating. Lety says Aldo is worrying about that with his friend Gui. Mar snottily says she thinks of everything. Fer like a proud papa agrees, then shys back when Mar gives him the death look again and he pretends to write the names of the assistants.
Aldo is talking to Guillermo and received good news that the project is going to be marvelous. He tells Juli that Lety is very talented and wonderful like her Mother and that she is lucky to have her. Aldo says how much Juli reminds him of his mama, that she was so sweet etc.. She passed away. Juli touches Aldo lovingly and tells him they need to go back to Conceptos. Aldo agrees because he wants to go see Lety.
Sara is arguing with Simon to get him to deliver boxes. He seems to think even though he is the messenger he is above this task. Sara chides him that maybe he’s not man enough to handle it. He says not to make fun of his physical attributes. He calls her Senorita giant giraffe etc. She tells him not to pretend to be high society. He says there are few like him. He makes comments about them being traitors with PM etc. He ends up taking the boxes.
Lety continues: We have to run a campaign that is attractive but also sensible. Lui still is complaining that she wants everything at once, speed, quality, and economy. She thinks we can process this. Lui - Quality requires time etc. Let -He has infinite talent… She says he can have his wonderful career later, but in this moment his job has to give up the luxury of all that and be…… Lui is insulted that his artistic freedom is getting compromised. Lui- Why do we have to keep listening to this woman. Fer thinks he’s exaggerating. They go back and forth. Talent has it’s own rhythm etc. He doesn’t think she has the right to interfere with the production. Lui- That doesn’t give you the right to meddle in my area that is production.
Lety asks Mar’s opinion. Mar thinks that Lety is getting into an area that she doesn’t know anything about. Mar thinks that Lety might be marching them down the wrong path and they’ll end up worse off than they are. Fer thinks we have no other option but to listen to Lety.
Lety continues that something else is important to her, that they shouldn’t use the fancy sophisticated models as they always do, that they should use real people that look 100% Mexican. This is the final straw and Luigi is on the precipice of a whopper of a mimisqui! He asks her if she is truly expecting that they hire nacas and chichimecas! She says yes whichever of them you want together with the products to make this food, but we really have no option except to hire all Mexican women. She wants normal people to advertise these traditional products. Lui has a panic attack, and begins to cry like a toddler who dropped his lollipop on the sidewalk.
Outside the cuartel hears the screams and speculates about what might be happening. They argue about whether Lui is an enemy of the cuartel and if he was fired.
He calls for Irma that he can’t breathe and his Valerian is gone. Lui resigns. He says her proposition is against his very being. He has to maintain his prestige etc. and stylize his models etc. Lety says she knows and is no expert in those things, but it’s not logical to have Europeans and Yanks selling traditional Mexican food products. Tomas says well they could hire people who are 60% or 70%. Lety tells him not to be racist.
She makes a PR pitch for all things Mexico. Lui jokes about her wanting to reinforce the image of a traditional ranch guy in a sombrero drinking his tequila near his horse and maguey plant. Lui thinks well maybe he could get his friend Salma Hayek to do them a favor, but she’s going to be very expensive. Lety smiles and says no, she thinks Salma is very involved in another project right now. Wink Wink [sly reference to the US version of Ugly Betty, by the way]. He thinks the idea will fail, she thinks it will be a success. Lui says look who’s talking, the most beautiful ugly girl….da dum dum dum…
The cuartel discuss the boxes and that no one knows what’s in them except that Don Omar asked them to come out of his office and into the cellar. They make fun of Simon and his computer classes etc.
Lui -My concept of beauty enters through the eyes. Lety tells him he needs to change that concept. You can’t criticize everything that doesn’t fit into your little box of esthetic beauty. She says there are many beautiful things native to their land, muscles of workers from the country etc. There is a lot of beauty there. Lui - Now you are going to tell me that when you look in the mirror you see a beauty? Fer defends Lety against Luigi’s comments. Mar makes a look and Fern says, well she’s the president. Lety thanks but no thanks to the defense but I don’t need because I’m right. Tomas watches on. I swear there is a magnetic field hanging over him emitting static and attracting his hair, that or he rubbed it with a balloon before he left his house this morning.
Lety says when she watches TV she doesn’t identify with any of those beautiful models and Mar actually agrees.
We should do these commercials with sincerity and honesty. A company like this will have a much greater impact than one who is fake. Fer agrees completely with Lety and grabs her arm yet again.
Lui indignantly agrees he can create anywhere. He can do 20 houses within 100 meters then. This pleases Lety and Fer marvels at her parenting skills with Lui.
Lui runs out screaming, Aldo is there and asks him if he’s ok. Irma brings Lui a Tila tea (calming), and Aldo a tea of Flor de Azar with Jamaica (cleansing). Lui starts to say how bad everything is and Aldo says nothing can be that bad. Lui continues that everyone is against him and that he’s getting a triple mimisqui. He excuses himself and goes back in.
Bravo EE UU, but man, not liking this late Fea.... :)

Gossip on the set of LFMB
Labels: fea
Acorralada #16 Monday 2/5. In which an awful lot happens!
Opening on the bar.
Gaviota is reading the gossip about the wedding and laughing. This is a major story in the paper—the headline actually reads something like “Heir to Irazabal fortune is left standing at the altar.” I suppose the NY Post would have a headline like that, for those who know the Post.
This old guy who works in the bar (I don’t know his name—anyone?) asks what she is laughing at. She tells him—they’ll have to pay like I did.
Where is Paco, she asks
In his office. He’s not always doing accounts, you know, he uses it as a refuge, where he thinks of her . . .
Who, Carmelo’s mother?
No, someone he loved from before with all his heart . . .
Why did they separate?
Something happened.
What was her name?
Alicia?
Is it obvious that Gaviota must be Alicia? If so how could they not recognize each other? Or does she know but he doesn’t? This is my first melodramatic novela, so I guess these are conventions, but I am not used to them.
Back at the house of horrors:
Diana is bringing breakfast for D/M, and it is intercepted by Bruno. Bruno looks over her shoulder at Diana with an evil glare.
Octavia is drinking tea in her gold-encrusted living room. She has a photo of her children and an ugly reproduction of a Rembrandt painting. How classy!
(This setting reminds me of the old days of watching Dallas. That was the only show I’ve ever seen where the servants dressed in real maid’s uniforms.)
She sees Diana and says “What did I tell you the first day? I told you I didn’t want you wearing any makeup. Who are you to disobey me?” Then she goes over with a napkin and wipes off Diana’s lipstick and tells her to fix her hair so it is in a dowdy braided style. “That’s how I like you.”
There’s a whole undercurrent of humiliation here. In an earlier episode, Octavia told Diana not to look her in the eye! This is a really feudal approach to employer/employee relations. It’s like master/slave relations.
On to the gym
Pancho/Franciso is working his triceps and talking to Carmelo. She is upset because he won’t marry her, and her father has said she cannot leave the house unless she is married. He says “Don’t worry, I really love you, I want to marry you but I need more money.” (That’s an old one.) Maybe we’ll do it in six months.
She says: But the police might get us first. I am not sure yet what this refers to, but he is doing something illegal? She says” You can’t convince me with your kisses.
He says: No one tells me what to do, especially a woman. He storms away like the abusive clod he is.
Back to the mansion
Octavio is still holding the lipstick smeared napkin. I hope this is the last time I will have to tell you about this. You are protected by my son.
Diana denies it, and Octavia says “Don’t answer back.”
Just then our friend Bruno comes in and puts in her two cents (how come she can talk like an equal? Another unexplained phenomenon)
Bruno pipes up: This nurse is disobedient and an “igualada.” (It means “equal,” but also the dictionary defines this as an idiom for someone disrespectful. It is interesting, because it sounds like it means “uppity,” or someone who acts like she’s equal to us when she shouldn’t.) She never stays quiet.
Octavia says: Evidently your parents never taught you anything. But I never had parents says Diana. What happened? They died. Octavia exits.
Bruno gives an evil cackle. Now she looks like the Joker. “I love it that you got a scolding. Boo Hoo.
Upstairs, Gaby brings breakfast to Larry, who is splayed on the bed in his pajama bottoms and wife-beater undershirt. She says he must eat or he will be too skinny and not get any work. He says he doesn’t care. He wants to find Pilar. Gaby tells him to forget. I want to die, he says, and flings himself on the bed face down and fake sobs. Puh-leeze.
Gaby reaches out to touch him and pulls away.
Max walks in on Diana, who is crying. I didn’t know you were here. Don’t cry. I don’t like to see you like this. You are so pretty. He tries to kiss her.
On the beach
Paola talks to her friends about Pilar. And how her brother was humiliated. Suddenly, here comes Diego, her piano teacher. The other girls start flirting with him. She says that he really likes Diana.
Back to the kiss: No, she says. He says, okay go in the garden and take care of my wife, Marfil. What a guy! (I’m going to put my two cents in here and say that this Max is just not all that attractive, even if he did win some himbo contest in real life. His character is also a drip who always just looks bewildered. He never says much of anything. I don’t see how there’s supposed to be chemistry here between these two as the main love interest. His lovemaking technique seems to consist of standing unnervingly close to the naïve girl and forcing her to kiss him. Moreover, there’s still that odd class difference, in that he uses “tu” with her but she uses “usted” with him. Yuck.)
Diana asks D/M if she wants thereapy or to remain in her room.
D/M says: I want you to be sncere. You want my husband!
Octavia walks in: Is something wrong, D/M tells her that she just doesn’t like the nurse. She’s a flykiller! Do me a favor and throw her out of the house.
At the bar
Gaviota is trying to find out about Alicia.
Now Camila barges in wearing a skimpy top. How does she just get in? Have no idea. Shse finds Max and starts kissing him. Of course, who should pop in but Diana!
Back at the beach, Diego tells Paola how he likes Diana. They have a boring conversation about love. Paola encourages him to tell Diana he loves her. Love means suffering and sweetness together, blah, blah, blah. For those watching LFMB, he is the Aldo of this novella. He has the scruffy beard, the daisy dukes, and the sleeveless sweatshirt—and the new age ideas!
Back at the bar, Paco tells Gaviota all about Alicia. She was someone I had a grand passion for, but she disappeared. She was married and pretended to be single. She abandoned me. Gaviota says maybe something was wrong. Paco says I never loved anyone since, until I met you. My love for Carmelo’s mother was not the same. She was a good woman, but not the great passion.
Gaviota asks: What would you say if you saw her now? I would not know what to say. Now I love a woman who knows the hardness of life and has suffered for love.
Back at the mansion, Max is pushing Camila away. “I respect my wife,” he says. That's a joke. Camila is really angry. Marfil is my worst enemy, she says.
Diana is now talking to Gaby and telling her how awful Max is because he was kissing Camila. He is playing both of us, she says. Gaby (the sap) says surely it was Camila kissing him. Camila is a lizard. No, all men are unfaithful. Don’t generalize—look at Larry!. They talk about keeping quiet about these things so they don’t lose their jobs.
Octavia is now complaining to D/M. I’d love to fire her, but my son is protecting her like fine crystal. D/M: My “marriage” is in danger while that cat stays here. Octavia promises that they’ll watch for her first mistake and fire her.
Back to Larry pining away for Pilar. Boo Hoo.
Now cut to Mexico City! How did they get there so quickly on a scooter: Anyway Kiki and Pilar are there, Kike is trying to force her to get an abortion, he punches her.
Back at the mansion, Max is trying to sweet talk Diana. What’s wrong. She tells him she saw him kissing Camila. She throws a glass of water on him!
Oh, you’re jealous he says. Tries to kiss her again. Yuck. She complains that he is throwing himself at her while he has a wife. He says, you may not realize it, but youj are jealous. Tries to kiss her again, she pushes him away.
Just then, D/M calls him. Coming, dear!
Mom wheels D/M in. Why are you all wet? He says it’s hot and he threw water on himself! Good one! Gee, wouldn’t you want mom interfering in your love life?
O leaves, and Max suggests they walk in the garden. D/M says “oh, I’d rather play blackjack” Max freezes. You always hated card games. Uh-oh. D/M realizes she made a big booboo. Cut to close up of D/M with wild eyes trying to figure out how to get out of this one.
Cut to the bar: Gaviota is consoling Caramelo, who is unhappy about Pancho’s perfidy.
Back on the beach, Paola continues her boring discussion with Diego about love. Paola says she really doesn’t want love. Here comes Diego’s bad brother, Pancho. Oolala. Diego says, meet my student. Pancho says oh, we’ve met. She’s the loony who totaled my car.
Back to the bar: more consoling.
Back to Max and D/M: He asks how she learned to play blackjack. She says: Oh, no, I was confused: I meant I wanted to learn. (Nice save).
Now back to the beach where Pancho and Paola are heavy breathing with each other.
Suddenly we see a small house. Inside we see the real Marfil in a coma. She is being cared for by some woman I don’t know. The bell rings: It’s Andre, the henchman of evil Dr. Montiel. He’s her nephew. She chides him for being out of touch. Oh, I’ve been so busy caring for the doctor, who almost got killed. She doesn’t buy it. Then he asks about her. She says, well since I lost my license I can’t get work in a hospital, but now I’m a nurse here. I have the patient in the next room . . . (so someone will eventually find out about Marfil.)
Back on the beach, Pancho and Paola have moved past flirting into active making out and more. (they were flirting in the past on the beach and when she totaled the car!) Pancho utters this odd locution like Oy Oy Oy. How fast you are. She says, when I like a man . . .so you like me. Well I think you’re hot, so I want to kiss you. See, I know how to kiss.
You like to play with men, don’t you. I like to play with fire. What are you looking for? To live! He says: I think you will break me (or break my heart?) but I can’t wait. She says she wants a man that doesn’t bore her. I know many ways to avoid being bored . .. More kissing.
Now back to the mansion:
Octavia to Max: Marfil says you don’t want to sleep together. You really want to sleep with the nurse, don’t you. Mother, please. O: I want to fire Diana! Close of episode.

Duelo de Pasiones, Tuesday 2/6 - In which we meet nurse Susi and are bothered by Orlando Interruptus
"Alina Montellano," Flor finishes.
Angel tells the babe nurse how much he enjoyed Flor's visit. Orlando interrupts, he's looking for Emilio. He says everybody loves Flor...Angel, Emilio, him, everybody. The nurse, in her requisite telenovela cap, boob-squishing shirt and impractically short mini-skirt, leaves. Orlando whistles as she departs; so far he's the first guy to notice her. Don Maximo surely hasn't seen her yet or he'd be in there dropping tissues and making her bend over to pick them up non-stop.
Angel asks Orlando how he knows Emilio loves Flor. He goes into a fit of coughing as he always does when he becomes upset. In response Orlando salutes Angel and leaves the room. He waves the air as if to ward off Angel's germs. Very sensible if you ask me.
Over the cacaphony of the waterfall, Emilio tells Flor that Don Loco told him his beloved Alina died. Did Flor know Alina? Does she mind that he wants to be near her because she's like Alina? Flor asks would he mind if she kneed him in the nuts for asking such an insulting question? Oops, I added that last part.
What Flor REALLY says is no, she doesn't mind, the only thing that matters is that they marry. "Really?" he says. He actually looks happy. He's much handsomer when he smiles. He should do it more often.
He says he hopes she's not marrying him as a convenient way to move out of the cave. (Please, please knee him in the nuts!) He somewhat redeems himself by saying he will try to give her everything he would have given Alina. They decide to go to the cave to tell Luba, then hunt down the priest to schedule their marriage at La Rinconada in three days.
Elias and Blanca meet for fruity rum drinks with umbrellas in them. Elias tells her he didn't want to make trouble with Alvaro but he suspects something is up. Blanca doesn't believe anything Don Loco says, especially that Alina has forgotten them. She wants to go to the hacienda and talk to Soledad personally. Elias agrees it's a good idea.
After Elias leaves Thelma joins Blanca. She tells Blanca that in two days she will be on her way to join Emilio at La Rinconada. He's waiting for her and they will marry.
Luba, whittling with her gigantic knife, asks Emilio why he wants to marry Flor, and furthermore why in secret. He says he doesn't care for big celebrations. Flor tells Luba she wants what Emilio wants. (My mom would have said "Well if Emilio wanted you to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge would you want to do it?") When Emilio tells her the wedding will be in three days Luba stabs the table with her knife and asks, "So soon?"
Flor excitedly tells Rosita about her impending marriage. Soon all her suffering of the past two years will end. She admits he's marrying her because she looks like Alina, but since she actually IS Alina that makes it OK. Rosita's too sensible to buy this load and asks when Flor intends to tell Emilio the truth. "On our wedding day, at the altar, he'll be thrilled," she's got it all planned out. Emilio will defend her from Don Loco, save her mom and they will all live happily ever after. She and Rosita jump for joy.
Emilio breaks the news to Coral that he intends to marry Flor in La Rinconada chapel. Huh? I thought the marriage was supposed to be some big secret. Coral takes the news like a champ. The only thing is, since she quit her job she has nowhere to go. Can she stay at La Rinconada for a few days? Emilio says no problem, as long as she doesn't tell anyone about the wedding. I'm sure she won't tell a soul, except for all her girlfriends who are probably working at the local whorehouse and who will probably tell all their clients who will tell all their wives who will tell all their friends.
Thelma cries in bed, "Emilioooo, if only this baby were really yours."
I think it's the next day, Alina tells Luba that she wants to talk to Padre Cristobal before Emilio does. She runs off.
Gaspar enters carrying a huge load of wood...in his arms. Luba tells him to go to the hacienda and tell Nora that she needs to talk to Soledad right away. After he leaves Luba has a conversation with her picture of the virgin. She has a bad feeling about this wedding.
Flor asks Padre Cristobal not to spill the beans about her being Alina. He agrees and says he will also fix her papers so as not to reveal her identity. She sees Emilio and runs out the back door.
Adela tells Soledad that Nora said that Gaspar said that Luba said she needs to talk to Soledad. They wonder how they will get around the watchdog Santiago.
Padre Cristobal says he will happily marry Emilio to that poor girl Flor in two days at two in the afternoon. They repeat this information twice so it must be important.
Gaspar arrives home and announces he's bathed in the river. I notice they didn't do any lingering shots of him naked in the river like they did with Flor and Rosita. Luba sniffs him to make sure he's clean, which I found very amusing for some reason.
Gaspar reports he left the message for Soledad. Flor comes in and hears him. Luba sternly tells her that Soledad should know of Flor's marriage. Flor agrees and can't wait to see mom. Gaspar says Don Loco is away but Sergio is on guard. Flor coos, "Just imagine, in two days I'll be married to the love of my life!" Gag me.
Emilio tells Don Max of his plans. Don Max asks, "Do you know who she is?" Emilio says sure, she's the illegitimate kid of Don Loco who hates her, Emilio doesn't know why and doesn't care. Can he count on his tio to help with the wedding and keep the secret? After Emilio leaves Don Max twirls his moustache and chuckles, "Nephew, you're gonna have one helluva surprise when you learn the truth."
Thelma is packing for her trip. She's been packing for at least two days now. How many damn suitcases is she going to take to a dusty ranch out in the mountains? Auntie's not happy to hear that the trip includes a ride in a carriage.
Flor and Emilio are back at the waterfall. She says she has something important to tell him, but only at the altar. "Ah, a wedding secret?" He's intrigued. He says he also has a little secret, a surprise for her. Oh I'll just bet.
Adela tells Nora she has a plan to get Sergio out of the way.
Don Max tells Vera and her husband (can't remember his name) to get ready for a big fiesta. Clean up the chapel and put flowers in it. Get lots of wine, champagne and little sandwiches. Vera asks if it's a wedding but Don Max says it's a surprise. The husband, imitating Don Max, grumbles because he doesn't want to work for Emilio and his pals. Vera says the best surprise would be if they all went away..."but why the chapel, why the flowers?"
Nora brings a cup of cocoa to Sergio. She flirts with him until he accepts the cup. She's out the door to get Luba and Flor before he has even stopped drooling over her. Later Adela checks on him and he's passed out. Must have been a mug of cocolbosh.
Emilio is talking to Angel in the sickroom. Orlando interrupts, he wants to borrow a horse to go make "a conquest." Emilio says fine, but who are you going to conquer? When Orlando answers "Flor" Angel goes into a coughing fit.
Luba and Flor sneak into Soledad's room. Flor tells Soledad that she's the happiest girl in the world because she's getting married. "To Angel, right?" answers Soledad. "No, to Emilio," answers Flor. Soledad is impactada.
Angel admits to Orlando that he loves Flor. Emilio jumps up and asks "What nonsense is this?" When Angel says it's true Orlando responds that Angel will find that his brother is his rival. Poor Angel.
Rosita tells Santos about Flor and Emilio's big secret, which explains Don Max's party plans. Rosita is happy that Flor will be the owner of La Rinconada. Santos is happy because this will piss off Don Maximo.
Flor tells Soledad the story of her engagement and Soledad is happy if Flor/Alina is happy. Luba says she's worried about what will come later, she doesn't want to see Flor leave one wretch only to fall into the hands of another. Soledad asks Luba why she would say such a thing. Luba says "Mas sabe el diablo por viejo que por diablo = experience is what really counts. I've learned to read the hearts of people through their eyes and faces, and this witch sees sadness, courage and fear in the heart of that guy Emilio. There is fear hiding behind his brave look. It is the fear of giving his complete heart and soul to love." Soledad thinks the fear in his heart will be replaced by love when he finds out Flor is Alina. Flor says everything will be fine and mom can I wear your wedding dress? Soledad whips the wedding dress out of the armoire where it has been taking up space for God knows how many years.
What luck! The wedding dress fits Flor perfectly! Much gnashing of teeth by Luba. Soledad gives Flor's papers to Luba so they can be delivered to the padre.
Susi is the name of Angel's nurse. Susi is worried because he's not hungry. Angel is worried about Orlando bothering Flor. Emilio says Gaspar will protect her. Orlando interrupts and calls them rivals. Angel is annoyed and so am I. Why is Orlando still there, I thought he was going out? Emilio tells Angel he will explain Orlando's words tomorrow. Angel coughs quizzically.
Shoot, I thought I would get a kid-free episode but I guess not. Marianita wants to visit her new friend Juanito at the hospital. She asks her mom if he's going to die like Estrellita. Mom says of course not. Seems to me this could end up being a lie. Marianita asks when is daddy coming home? "Soon, any minute now," Mariana lies. Marianita wants to go back to school and Mariana says she'll call the director. I wonder if this is a lie too.
We are in the drug runners' hideout. Jose tells the drug lord Jacinto that he refuses to rob the good, humble people in the area. Jacinto says Jose will do what he orders. Felicia, hungrily eyeing Jose, tells Jacinto to give Jose time. Jose says he won't get blood on his hands for Jacinto. Jacinto says fine, from now on Jose has to do all the crap work that would normally be assigned to several men. And with no sleep. He hopes Jose thinks it's worth it. Jose says he'd rather die of fatique than to kill innocent people. He wants to return to his family!
Orlando is STILL prancing around the hacienda trying to annoy people. He interrupts Emilio's thoughts to announce that he's on his way to Edilmira's whorehouse. Orlando suggests Coral should look for a job there. He pours a shot of booze and gives it to Emilio. He wants Emilio to tell him the secret that he's guarding so jealously. He tries to give Emilio another drink but Emilio says no way, not after what happened the other night.
Sergio wakes with a start and yells for Adela. She assures him Soledad is in her room and nobody has gone in or out. He asks her not to tell the patron he fell asleep.
Flor shows Donkey her wedding dress. (I know his name is really Tonky but I like calling him Donkey.)
Don Loco tells Hugo to send the chauffeur around early, he wants to return to the hacienda. Alfonsina walks into the office, sees them talking and excuses herself. Don Loco asks why she entered with such confidence, is there any hanky-panky between them? There had better not be, romance between his employees is strictly forbidden. (Naturally, because only he, the patron is allowed to boink the babes.) He tells Hugo that he's thinking of giving him a raise if he believes Hugo deserves it. Hugo thanks him, twice calling him Alvaro, not Don or Patron.
Orlando continues to press Emilio for information, "Aren't I your best friend? You're going to marry Thelma, right?" Emilio says not Thelma, but he is getting married tomorrow...to Flor del Campo! Orlando looks more irritated than impactado.
Orlando tells Ifigenio to go to San Mateo in the morning to pick up one Thelma Castelo. She is Emilio's fiancee. It is a surprise and he mustn't tell Emilio.
It is a dark and stormy morning. Ifigenio says it's too perilous to take the carriage to San Mateo and it will probably rain all day. Orlando gets angry, the rain has thwarted his plans! He has a mini-tantrum and whacks one of the chairs, amusing and annoying the staff.
Marianita goes to the hospital and finds Juanito the singing cancer patient. He has great news, he gets out in a few days and his mom says that he and Marianita will be at the same school. Will Marianita be his girlfriend? They hold hands.
Emilio has braved the storm to visit Flor at the cave. He says he'll send for her in the morning and she can get ready in the guestroom. "I love him Donkey, I love him," she gushes after Emilio leaves. Excuse me while I hurl.
Thelma and Tia Rebeca are near Sierra Escondida. They are told they have to spend the day and night in the local hotel due to the rain. They'll go to La Rinconada in the morning.
Thelma runs down the stairs of the hotel. She feels dizzy and staggers. Don Loco runs to her aid. When Thelma says she is on her way to La Rinconada Don Loco says he owns the neighboring ranch. They introduce themselves and he is surprised to hear she is Emilio's fiancee. He hopes they can travel together to Sierra Escondida tomorrow.
The next morning (I think) Flor gives her dress to Gaspar, (who is wearing a new, but mysteriously sleeveless, dress shirt) with orders to take it directly to the guest house. Then he is to borrow a horse, go to San mateo and keep a lookout for her father and warn them if he returns.
Gaspar tells Ifigenio he needs to borrow a horse to go to San Mateo. Ifigenio tells Gaspar he can go along with him, he's going there to pick up Emilio's fiancee. Gaspar scratches his head and is all "Que?????"
Flor and Donkey are ready to leave the cave. They hear a noise, it must be Luba! But no, it's Orlando. He says he's glad he caught her. He came to warn her about Emilio's intentions. She should NOT marry him! Flor looks at him like he is a disease instead of a man.
rabieta - tantrum
bocadillos - sandwiches, my dictionary says this is also a term for speech/thought bubbles!
lascivo (a) - lascivious
cachas - beefcake, hunk
Speaking of which, and I swear I will not make a habit of this picture thing, here is our beloved Gaspar (AKA "Intocable") when he's not wearing his Jethro uniform:

Mundo de Fieras - Feb. 6, 2007
* Karen tells grandma Miriam about her argument with her mom at the store. Ingrid interrupts to tell Miriam about the new distribution house that is interested in her designs. Miriam is on cloud nine.
* Rogelio gives MA advice about Jossie and Miriam and how to attack them (from behind the back when they least expect it).
* Jossie is in her office alone - planning a surprise attack of her own against MA.
* Dolores and Gabriel share a tender moment as Gabriel shows Dolores his engagement ring for MA - Dolores is very happy and excited for him - he wishes that she and Nick will have a happy ending also. Dolores then brings up Luisito's death - she tells Gabriel she was in the room with him as he lay in a coma and that his heart raced at the moment of Luisito's death, almost like he knew about it even though he was in a coma. Gabriel is shocked and cries with the memory of his late son.
* Pau and JC are working in the office - JC is thinking to himself that he should find someone to take his place in Pau's life and will be a father to his child.
* Gabriel visits MA and LD at her apartment. He wants to make it official and give LD his last name.
* JC and Dolores meet with Leo in the hospital hallway - Leo escorts them to the consultation office for the test results and bad news.
* Gabriel, Candy, MA and LD meet with the judge in his chambers. Judge reads the official ruling that makes LD - Luis David Cervantes Bravo. Luis David, with prompting from Gabriel, shouts "Papa! Papa!"
* Leo sits JC and Dolores around the desk as they meet with Dr. V. Leo and Dr. V explain the bad news - that JC is terminal and will die soon. :( As JC asks Dr. V some questions, a nurse walks in and interrupts. Dr. V leaves with the nurse. Leo, Dolores and JC stay there - Leo tries to convince JC of the seriousness of the situation - JC realizes it and is convinced that he wishes to die with dignity and not let his mom and Pau suffer by watching him die. Leo is frustrated - Dolores chimes in trying to convince JC to tell Pau and his mom. JC cries and explains his decision. Leo and Dolores listen. Leo walks over to JC and gives him support and advice. Dolores says she understands and gives her opinion. JC is still adamant. Dolores cries and tries to make him understand the difficult position she is in with Regina - she ends up promising to keep the secret.
* Gabriel, MA, LD and Candy are still celebrating becoming a family.
* Leo walks JC outside. They talk - Leo gives JC some friendly advice. JC listens and thanks Leo for his support and help. They hug.
* Pau is aggravated as Karen enters the office. Pau confronts Karen and wants to know what is going on between Karen and JC. Karen covers up the truth. Pau doesn't trust Karen's intentions as being sincere. Karen does her best to convince Pau that she has changed, and then asks Pau if they could be friends. Pau isn't at all convinced. Karen still tries and gives Pau a hug. Karen leaves Pau in shock and disbelief.
* Jossie and Miriam are folding clothes at a display in the store. They discuss Karen's sudden change in attitude. Miriam wonders if Dolores had something to do with it.
* Dolores is at home, rethinking the meeting with JC and Leo about JC's diagnosis.
* Pau at her desk working. JC enters. Pau is excited to see him and pulls him over to the desk to see the special surprise she made for him on the computer. He takes one look at it, and isn't interested or excited to see it. He just wants to get back to work. Pau is hurt and frustrated by his lack of enthusiasm and questions him about it - he acts cold and heartless, says that her pregnancy hormones are clouding her judgement and to let him get back to his job. She's hurt, tells him off and then leaves.
* At Candy's apartment, Gabriel and MA make future plans for their wedding. Candy holds LD - Gabriel prompts LD to say "Papa!" again.
* Dolores stops by the shop to see Miriam. They get into a heated discussion - first about Dolores' interference in Karen's new attitude against her own mother and grandmother. Dolores says that she's just trying to get to know her own niece and show her the love and affection her mother and grandmother never gave her. Miriam orders Dolores to stay away from Karen - Dolores stands up and refuses. They argue about Dolores and Edgar - Dolores makes threats about revealing Miriam and Jossie's dark secrets if they try to keep Dolores away from Karen. Miriam is shocked.
* At the palace, MA descends the stairs to the main living area - Jossie shouts from the second floor balcony to ask where she's going - MA laughs and refuses to say. MA leaves. Jossie is curious.
* Candy, Elsa and Leo get table ready for dinner as they discuss their day. Leo talks about his patient's case; Elsa tells about her work at Otilia's store; Candy tells them both about Gabriel making LD his legal son. Leo is still heartbroken about MA even though he says he's happy for them. Elsa tells him to get over it already. Candy tells her to be more supportive of her brother. Leo changes the subject and tells Elsa about his honeymoon trip for her and Sylvester - Elsa isn't happy about it. Leo leaves to see Sylvester and the guys.
* Jossie enters MA's bedroom to visit LD and asks the nanny where MA went to - nanny nervously hesitates before saying the MA went to dinner with Gabriel. Jossie looks up with a disgusted shocked look on her face.
* Gabriel and MA are sitting at a fancy restaurant - Gabriel pulls out the ring box, shows MA the ring inside, she's very surprised, he takes her hand and asks her to marry him, she excited says "Acepto!" They kiss. (UGH!)
* Tweet, Sylvester and Gabino are at the bar having a three-person bachelor party and discussing Elsa and Mayeya. Leo joins them. Sylvester holds his beer glass up and promises the guys that this will be the last night he will drink alcohol, because of Elsa. Leo thanks him for making that promise.
* Elsa meanwhile sneaks a drink from her little whiskey bottle and then quickly hides it under the kitchen towels as Candy returns to the room. Elsa tells her to sit down at the table and she will serve dinner.
* Jossie escorts Karen into the palace office to have a private mother-daughter chat about Karen's new found friendship with Aunt Dolores. Jossie is jealous and hurt. Karen won't give up her relationship with her aunt and tells her mom off. Jossie raises her hand up - Karen says if she dares slap her, she will leave forever. Jossie switches tactics immediately. Karen asks Jossie to become a real loving, caring mom to her. Jossie tries to convince Karen of the reality through Jossie's eyes. Karen doesn't buy it and cries - Jossie warns her that the changes she wants will come with lots of suffering - Karen says she's already suffered a lot, and leaves.
* JC is trying to sleep. Pau wants to cuddle and tries to put her arms around JC. JC gets angry and pushing Pau away. Pau is hurt, gets out of bed and leaves the bedroom.
* MA and Gabriel return to the palace, totally enchanted by each other and their engagement. They are all kissy-kissy-smoochy-smoochy (yuck! disgusting!) as Jossie spies from the upstairs balcony. Gabriel leaves. MA smiles and then goes upstairs. Jossie stops MA in the hallway and confronts her about the engagement - MA says that there is no way Jossie can ever separate her from Gabriel. MA walks away. Jossie scowls.
* Nick and Dolores talk at their favorite restaurant.
* Jossie goes to talk with Miriam in the bedroom about MA sporting an engagement ring - Jossie's disgusted and offended. Miriam asks her if she will permit the wedding to take place. Jossie vows that she will never let that happen.

La Fea Más Bella #204 2/6/07 yap, yap, yap
Second, please, please, please, be conscious of other readers when leaving comments.
This is a spoiler free zone. If you hear that in the Mexican episodes Lety's having Humberto's lovechild and Marcia has run off with Celso, please keep that information to yourself or pop over to telenovela-world.com and comment about it there. We all love this show, and it's easy to get excited about the news in Mexico, but we must be considerate of each other!
Okay, so on to the show!
Aldo excuses himself for asking Lety if she was still suffering for Fernando Mendiola. Lety says she's confused because they were talking about Aldo's project ands she doesn't understand why he all of a sudden thought of Fernando. Aldo works his way around the question and asks again if Lety still thinks about Fernando. Lety meekly shakes her head no. Aldo says that's all he wanted to know. He gets up and backs out of the room saying he'll see Lety later. Lety guiltily watches him leave and then thinks about her conversation with Fernando outside of El Santuario when he told her that he still loved her. Lety questions herself why she thinks about Fernando when she has so much to do. She stalks out of the boardroom with her head down.
Once Lety reaches her office she runs into Lola who is leaving Lety's father's "office." Lola enthusiastically tells Lety that she thinks Erasmo completely understands Conceptos' files. Lety thanks her. Before Lola leaves the office, Lety sits in her chair at the president's desk and asks Lola how she looks. The both giggle. Lola quickly pulls a 180 and gets on her knees begging to know if Lety is going to fire her. Lety replies that she's going to speak with Marcia. She asks Lola to tell Marcia to go to the boardroom. Lola replies that if she goes into Marcia's office, at the very least Marcia will kill her. Lola says that non of the cuartel may show up in Marcia's office until their problem is solved. (Meaning knowing if they'll get fired.) Lety gets a great idea. She picks up the phone and calls Alicia who sweetly answers to Lety. In a very haughty tone, Lety asks Alicia to tell Marcia to go to the boardroom. Lola and Lety laugh quietly during the whole conversation. Alicia asks Lety what she and Marcia are going to talk about. Lety replies that they're going to talk about things that Alicia would never understand. She also asks Alicia to advise Fernando the same. Alicia tells Lety that Fernando has been there for a while and is in Omar's office. Lety repeats to Alicia to give Marcia the message. Alicia very politely and sweetly replies that she will do so with much pleasure. Lety and Lola share a laugh after Lety hangs up her phone. Lola changes the subject back to the prospective firings. Lety looks at her with a desperate face.
Alicia enters Marcia's office and rapidly tells Marcia that Lety wants Marcia in the boardroom. Alicia says that it's an order and that she's giving it in the exact same tone that Lety used with her. Marcia blankly stares at Alicia who tells Marcia not to look at her that way. She's just delivering the president's message. Alicia tells Marcia that she needs to hurry up because Lety wants to talk to her before the meeting. Marcia replies that Lety does not give her orders. Alicia says that she told Lety the same thing.
So Erasmo has just received a lesson on the computer system in Conceptos. What excites him? The calculator in the accessories! To each their own, I guess. Never mind, he's not that impressed. He needs a manual calculator. Lety tells her father she'll get him. Lety overhears Lopez telling Lola that she better have her settlement in her hands. Lety distracts him by asking if he'll get her father a calculator. Before Lopez can do that, Luigi comes out and asks Lopez about Yazmin and if they are going to re-contract with her. Lety interrupts and says that in a little while they're going to have a meeting. Luigi turns from her and asks Lopez again about Yazmin's whereabouts. Robopop jumps in and asks Luigi if he doesn't realize that the president of the company is talking to him. After telling speaking to Lopez one more time he turns to speak with Erasmo. Luigi tells Erasmo that his part of the business is separate from the rest and that he is autonomous and alone. (Ah, bow down to the all powerful Luigi! Yeah, right!) The cuartel steal glances at each other, wondering how this will end. Luigi says if Lety doesn't like it she can fire him. Luigi also warns Lety that just because she's Aldo's friend, it doesn't mean she deserves his respect. He demands Lopez find Yazmin and leaves the room. Lety tells her father that, yes, Luigi is the creative director. Erasmo asks Lety why Luigi speaks like a bee that's outside of its hive. Everyone laughs at Erasmo's imitation of a bee. Erasmo warns Lety that she should not allow people to speak to her like that.
Back in Marcia's office, Alicia continues to talk. She says she can't tell Lety that she doesn't give Marcia orders because Lety will fire her. Marcia says she's not going to tolerate this so she'll tell Lety herself. Alicia gets excited and describes all the things she would like to do to Lety. (Let's just say they're not so nice.) Alicia asks Marcia to take care of her job so that her debt to Marcia won't be for forever.
Lety agrees with her father but says there are different ways to establish authority. She wants to be respected for her work and her ability. She's not going to let anyone humiliate her. Luigi tells Lety that was well said and then takes Erasmo with him to find a calculator. PM walks into the room complaining about someone making her crazy. Lety tells PM that she should be in the reception area. PM says she's avoiding a problem. Saimon is very, very mad at her. He's always yelling that she betrayed him. After attempting to get the cuartel to agree that she didn't betray Saimon, she changes the subject (yes, again) to not being fired. Marcia comes into the room and asks if Lety needed her. When Lety says yes, Marcia asks why Lety wasn't in her office. Lety thought it would be a better idea to go... Marcia walks away before she can finishing her sentence.
Marcia sits at the head of the table and asks what Lety would like to discuss. Before she lets Lety talk, she warns Lety that she does not give orders to Marcia even if Lety is the president. Lety doesn't play along and says if Marcia is so capable why didn't she take the presidency. They bicker for a while and Lety ends saying she just wants Marcia to know that she's free to do whatever she wants. Marcia accuses Lety of allowing the members of the cuartel to arrive whenever they want and for ignoring discipline. Marcia says she will not permit this. Lety says she will not allow Marcia to put out employees who have all worked at Conceptos for more than ten years each. Marcia says they will never come to an agreement, but they do need to resolve this.
Tomas stands in his office and complains about having Alicia so close but not being able to talk to her. He decides to have her near him by placing her photos all over his office.
Marcia and Lety go on about how much they don't like each other but that they have to deal with one another. Lety tells Marcia that Lety knows Marcia does not want to fire the secretaries. She's always defended them and they look at Marcia as a just person. Lety understands that Marcia is mad because the cuartel celebrated Lety's position as president. Lety points out that Alicia arrived late as well. Lety states that neither one of them have an objective perspective on this because Marcia talks with Alicia and Lety talks with the cuartel. There is a lack of communication. Marcia asks what Lety thinks they should do about the lateness. Lety says that they should apply a sanction without firing them. Lety thinks that they should dock a day's pay and warn the cuartel and Alicia that the next time, they will be fired. Marcia asks if Lety will continue with Alicia as her secretary.
Outside, the cuartel listens to the conversation. Marta attempts to shush them while she listens. Alicia sneaks up on them and asks what they're doing. They try to shoo her away. Alicia wants to know who will be fired. Marta implies that they're only going to save six jobs, which would mean there is no room for Alicia. Alicia calls them liars. Sara points out that Alicia hasn't always been all that nice to Lety. Alicia tells them off and walks away to her desk.
Alicia cries at her desk because she thinks she's going to be fired. The phone rings. It's Lety asks Alicia to get Lopez, Luigi, Tomas, Omar and Fernando. They need to come to the boardroom for another meeting. Lety asks Alicia what's wrong. Alicia says she's going to be fired, the cuartel told her that she would. Lety tells Alicia not to give that any weight until she and Lety personally talk.
Marcia says that she didn't know that Fernando was coming to the meeting. Lety replies that she thought he would have told her. No, Marcia replies. Lety assures Marcia that Fernando's participation was initiated by him because he wants to help the business. Lety also tells Marcia that Fernando will be working in Omar's office. Lety says that she will not go near Fernando, but if Marcia does not want Fernando at the office then she needs to tell him.
In Omar's office Fernando tells Omar that he didn't have time to tell Marcia that he'll be working at Conceptos. He doesn't need to tell her everything that he does. Alicia comes into the office and sarcastically tells the men that they're needed in the boardroom. Fernando doesn't understand why Alicia is not using her favorite nickname, Tlacoyo. Alicia acts offended at this. When she walks out of the office, Omar points out her torn stockings. Omar wishes Fernando luck in the meeting. They leave for the boardroom.
Fernando enters the boardroom and sits between the women. He kisses Marcia's shoulder. Omar comes in and does his best Alicia imitation, sweetly greeting Lety. Alicia stabs him in the hand in with her pencil. Omar totally screams like a girl! Marcia thinks it would be a good idea if she attacked Omar as well. Omar gets on his knees and begs for forgiveness. Oh, it was just a dream! Fernando asks Lety if she's okay. Lety says she's very well.
Alicia orders Marta to tell Lopez to go to the boardroom. The cuartel laugh at Alicia giving them orders. Alicia says these are not her orders, they're Lety's. Lola tells Alicia to go tell the executives herself. Alicia complies by shouting for Lopez. He flies off to the boardroom. Lola asks if Alicia is going to tell Tomas.
Tomas is in his office. Alicia enters and says that Tomas's girlfriend is waiting for him in the boardroom. Tomas says that he and Lety are over. They're just friends. He's single now. Alicia makes it perfectly clear that she's not interested. Tomas runs to the door and marvels about Alicia.
Marcia tells Fernando that Lety told her everything about him having an office. Apparently, he was unable to tell her. Fernando explains that he's there to help. Yes, Marcia confirms that she knows that. Fernando and Marcia spat for a while. He says it was a last minute decision. She's upset because he didn't tell her. Lety excuses herself and tells Marcia that when she returns she wants her spot at the head of the table.
Lety goes to the executive bathroom. She talks to herself about how exciting it is that she's going to occupy the president's position. She happy because has Aldo's program to propose.
Aldo talks on his phone with Guillermo about the project. Alicia comes in and jokes that she got lost going Luigi's office. Alicia assures Aldo that she respects Lety a whole lot. Aldo humors Alicia's story about how she and Lety competed for the same position. Aldo tells Alicia that he would rather talk about her. Alicia immediately gives her measurements. She says she's a natural blonde. Alicia starts to write down her phone number when Luigi walks in and interrupts. He wants to know what Alicia is doing. Aldo is busy. Alicia repeats her story about getting lost looking for Luigi's office. Luigi does not believe her. Luigi pulls Alicia aside and says he does not want to see her there (in Aldo's office) again. They walk out to the hallway and argue about trying to get the same man. Luigi thinks he has rights to Aldo because he brought him to the business. It's the "I saw it first" argument. Alicia points out that technically Lety knew Aldo first. Luigi doesn't care about that. Luigi says he'll be the only one working with Aldo. Alicia remembers that she has a message from Lety.
Lety enters her office. Fernando is standing alone in the office. He asks her about her conversation with one of Luigi's friends in the boardroom. He nervously talks about how weird Aldo's last name is. "You were shut in, shut in with him." Lety says that she was not shut in with anyone for a long time. She also tells him that Aldo is her friend, not Luigi's. Fernando asks her what she was doing with Aldo. She tells him not to worry because he'll find out very soon. Marcia enters the office and says that they're ready for the meeting. Lety leaves. Marcia stays with Fernando and asks him if this is how it's going to be. Fernando says he knows that Marcia will be watching his and Lety's every move. He leaves her alone in the office, with a sour look on her face.
Luigi and Alicia talk more about possession of Aldo. Alicia reminds Luigi that he needs to go to the boardroom. Luigi freaks out when Alicia says that it was Lety who told him to go. He points out that Lety should know that he's not going to take orders from her! The only authority in this business is Marcia. Luigi sees Alicia's stockings and wants to know why she hasn't changed them. He asks if this is the latest style. Alicia replies to his jokes that this is a way to show her poverty. She hasn't bought new ones because she hasn't been paid. After she leaves, Luigi comments on how much Alicia suffers. Irmita walks over to Luigi and advises him not to bite the hand that feeds him. She thinks he should go to the meeting. Luigi says that if Lety wants to fire him, then she should fire him. He gathers his books as though he's packing to leave. He tells Irmita that she must be on his side. He cannot believe that they named Lety president! He cannot accept her. Luigi decides to go get Aldo so that they may get to work.
Lopez enters the boardroom. Alicia enters the boardroom to give a message. Marcia interrupts and demands to know why Luigi isn't there. Alicia tells her that he's not coming to the meeting because he doesn't recognize Lety as president and, therefore, will not obey her orders. He'll only obey Marcia.
Loved, loved, loved Omar's scream! I hope everyone has a great night and stays warm! It hit 20 below with wind chill today. I hope your days are warmer. ;-)

Acorralada - #15 - 2/2/07 - Wedding Day!
Emilio tells Max to get rid of Diana - she's a temptation. Max says he loves Marfil but not in a physical way and that he has certain needs that must be met. Emilio tells him to go get a hooker. Max says he loves Diana. ***OK, let me get this straight. He wants a physical relationship and Diana keeps telling him to back off (even though we know she'll eventually cave). Hmmm.
Diana is trying to put shoes on Grandma DS. This scene is priceless. It is like trying to nail jello to a wall. Grandma DS wants no part of the shoe business and wants to go barefoot to Larry's wedding. Grandma DS finally decided that perhaps yellow shoes might be OK. Diana has to point out 1) you have no yellow shoes and 2) they wouldn't match your outfit even if you did. Lala walks in and asks Diana to go talk to Gaby who is crying in the servant's quarters. Diana delegated the shoe debacle with Grandma DS to Lala.
Diana tries to comfort Gaby who is despondent over the fact Larry is marrying Pilar. Diana, being the supportive sister points out there is nothing Gaby can do about it and Gaby just needs to suck it up and deal with reality.
Max is getting ready for the wedding and M/D is saying how much she wishes she could go. He'll have to come back after the wedding and tell her all about it. "By the way, be honest, do you still love me as much as you did before my accident?" Now there's a trick question if ever I heard one. . .
Pilar is having second thoughts about marrying Larry. She just doesn't love him. Her bridesmaids ask if she's worried about Kike fulfilling his promise to make a scene and disrupt the wedding.
M/D, as usual, is whining on and on to Max and asking him if he loves her as he did before. She begs repeatedly for him to kiss her. Just when he's leaning in - looking anything but "thrilled" I must add - Diana shows up and asks Max if M/D is going to the wedding. Max tells Diana that M/D prefers to stay home with Bruna. What's wrong with THAT picture? M/D pays a sarcastic comment about Diana's homemade dress. The dress looked fine to me, but what do I know.
Diego is mooning over Diana when Caramel shows up and tries to comfort him. She states it bites when the person you love is in love with another.
Speaking of love, Pancho (Caramel's boyfriend of 100 years) is at the body shop talking to someone on the cell phone about distributing the purloined jewelry throughout the United States. Chino comes up to Pancho and says Pancho's car is now fixed (this is the car Peyote ran into before I started watching the show). Chino and Pancho admire the handiwork. Pancho states Peyote is going to pay for the damage with a kiss or "some other thing."
Larry is actually wearing clothes. Wedding guests start arriving and Larry is at the altar all smiles. Camila is gossiping with her brother, Emilio. Emilio says Peyote looks hot. If you're reading this Ferro94, she has on a red dress that enhances her assets. Camila reminds Emilio that Peyote does drugs. Emilio replies that's just gossip and "who cares anyway-she looks hot." Down the aisle comes Max. Alone. Camila gossips about that as well, and adds a comment about that "Stupid Marfil." Camila notices Diana, but she still can't place why she recognizes her.
Kike rides up on his motorcycle as Pilar is entering the church. He winks at Pilar.
Now Gaby is crying to Lala and Nancy that she wants to die; this is the saddest day of her life! If Gaby wasn't so pathetic and insecure, I'd really hate her. I suppose since this is only my third episode, I haven't wanted to slap her yet. That may come in time. Lala and Nancy try to comfort her but Gaby keeps sobbing that she's ugly and blind. Larry will never notice her.
Andres is talking to Doc Evil in the hospital. Apparently Doc Evil is recuperating quickly and won't die after all. Doc Evil asks about Diana. Andres says she's slippery, after Diana was "saved" by Grandma DS's scream (forcing Andres to flee before he was caught by Max). Andres and Doc Evil continue to plot against Diana. Now Doc Evil states, "she's going to be mine!"
As the wedding vows are being exchanged, Diana fantasizes that Gaby is the one marrying Larry. Meanwhile, Max is fantasizing that Diana is marrying him. Geez.
Sylvia is walking the dogs, or should I say the dogs are walking Sylvia. She is muttering to herself that she's going to be late for the wedding since no one will give her a ride with all critters. I can't even begin to describe her outfit - I think her pink hair was distracting me.
Back to the wedding. The priest is asking Pilar if she takes Larry for her husband. She thought bubbles "what am I going to do?" The priest reminds her she hasn't answered his question. Pilar has this "deer in the headlights" look. It's not a good sign when a priest has to ask you three times if you take this man. Finally, she says no. She turns around and there is Kike at the church door in his leathers. She runs to him and they flee on the back of his motorcycle. Larry is devastated and runs after her. Octavia swears that no one - I mean no one - does that to her family! Max tries to comfort poor Larry. Everyone is impactada. Octavia, ever the maternal one, asks Larry how could this happen. At this point, one of Sylvia's dogs takes a bite out of Octavia's dress. Max tells Mommie Dearest to back off, there's nothing they can do. Larry just stands there repeating "I was just left at the altar in front of everyone - but I love her!" Octavia calls for their car. . .
Gaby is STILL crying over Larry. She tells his picture he'll never see the kakajillion letters she written declaring her love for him.
Diana is waiting in the church with Grandma DS (who presumably is wearing shoes, but I can't swear to it). Yolanda, Octavia's sister, comes to take Grandma DS home. Grandma DS keeps asking "What happened?" "Why did the bride run away?" Camila walks up as Yolanda and Grandma DS are leaving. She tells Diana "We need to talk. Where do I know you from?" I couldn't understand what Diana told Camila, but Camila seemed to be satisfied with the answer. It obviously wasn't that Camila witnessed Diana's arrest for attacking Doc Evil.
Emilio, Camila, Sylvia and the dogs are all standing around. Sylvia wants to know what she missed. No one will tell her. Sylvia then comments about one of the dogs attacking Octavia's dress and that Octavia always has such a bitter face.
La familia all arrive at Psycho Mansion. Larry is humiliated, Octavia is furious and Max is trying to settle Larry down. Nancy is scurrying behind them trying to figure out what happened. Bruna appears and asks why they aren't at the reception. She also asks Octavia what happened to her dress. Octavia says there was no wedding or reception and orders a shot of Scotch or whatever people like her drink when they're upset. Brandy perhaps?
Camila is now visiting Doc Evil in the hospital. He starts up with the blackmail schtick. "How good to see you - I could have died - you shouldn't treat the father of your kid so badly - my you're in a bad mood - you going to a party? - you sure look pretty - I've got you in the palm of my hands, missy." Camila looks at him and starts laughing. She tells him Max dumped me. Now it doesn't matter if you tell the world about our kid. Oh, by the way, Marfil is really alive!" Doc Evil appears shocked at this. Camila starts flirting with the doc and leans in like she's going to kiss him. The doc is like, "bring it on, girlfriend!" Camila then bites him and draws blood. Reminds me of the scene between Gabe and Jos in the beginning of MdF. Camila turns and walks out saying "Later, basurita." I think Camila may be my favorite character now! Now she may turn into una fiera.
Nancy rushes into Gaby's room where - yup - Gaby is still crying. Now this is getting old. Nancy says she's got some big news. Larry didn't get married!!!! He was left at the altar. Lala walks in and wonders why everyone is home so early. Nancy fills her in.
Max is trying to calm Larry down, who rightly still feels humiliated. By the way, Larry is still in his tux. I was hoping he'd be in a towel again. "She left me in front of everyone!" Larry again repeats the obvious. "I love her so much! And she ran off with Kike!" ***Larry's hot, I didn't say he was bright.***
Payback's a "perra." Kike and Pilar are at the airport. He asks how she's feeling. Kike is thrilled that he finally beat Larry. Pilar asks "Is that all you see me as? Your trophy?" K - "Of course not, I love you. Now we're going to go to Mexico and stay with my family. There's a clinic close by where you can get an abortion." Pilar refuses to get one. The scene ends with Kike telling Pilar "You're going to do what I tell you. I own you!" I'll bet ol' Larry is looking pretty good to Pilar right about now.
Ocatavia, M/D, Bruna, Grandma DS, and Diana are in the living room talking about the disgrace. Has anyone thought that - gasp - Larry is perhaps better off without the tramp? Grandma DS wants to know who was the man left at the altar. Diana explains it was her grandson. Octavia makes Diana take Grandma DS to Grandma DS's room.
Back to Max and Larry. Peyote walks in. Larry asks how well she knows Pilar and if she knew about Kike. Peyote says she knew, but Pilar swore it was over with Kike.
Lala, Nancy and Gaby are talking in the kitchen. Gaby wants to go to Larry's room and comfort him. Lala reminds Gaby she's a servant and not a psychiatrist. Gaby then volunteers to bring him something to drink. Lala nixes that idea as well, reminding Gaby if she (Gaby) gets nervous and drops anything, Octavia will fire her.
Diana meets Max outside Larry's bedroom, where they discuss what happened to poor, clueless Larry. Bruna interrupts this cozy conversation pointing out that M/D is downstairs waiting for Max. After Max leaves, Bruna grabs Diana's arm saying the only love in Max's life is Marfil. "You hear me?!"
The family is gathered downstairs int he living room, rehashing the wedding that wasn't. Diana makes the mistake of walking in. Octavia lays into Diana for listening in on family business. Max, of course, defends Diana pointing out she isn't a servant - she's a nurse. Marfil is also acts like a wench to Diana. Max asks "What's up? I thought you liked your nurse. What's with the change in attitude?" Diana leaves and the credits roll. . .

Duelo de Pasiones - Monday, 02/05/07 -- Emilio turns good
Gaspar, who has carried Angel back to La Rinconada talks to Emilio. He tells him a bit of his story (he wasn't always an idiot, he used to be a fighter and he's still strong and can lift a lot of weight) Emilio wants to pay him for hauling Angel back to the hacienda. Gaspar says no, he wants him to do him a favor he's not sure what it is but he'll tell him later. Emilio agrees with the strange request. Emilio turns to his unconscious brother lying on the bed. "Don't die Angel, Don't die." He says.
Back in the cave, Don Loco has brought Soledad to visit Alina.
Gaspar is supposed to be helping Luba gather her medicinal plans. He's doing she loves me, she loves me not with the flowers. Gaspar tells Luba that he's going to ask the Patron Emilio to find his munequita and give her to him. Luba protests and hits him with the plans she's gathered. At la rinconada, Emilio is hovering over Angel's bed. Orlando comes in and asks what Emilio will do if Thelma shows up. Emilio says, not possible. Won't happen. But if for some reason it does, I have a way to get rid of her. Orlando smiles. He's intrigued. "What is it?" "You'll know at the appropriate time" says Emilio. (Ya think maybe old Emiliooooo is starting to doubt just how good a friend this guy is?) At that moment, Maximo comes in with the Doc who immediately takes charge of the situation.
Rosita is sweeping the floor and there's a knock at the door. With her back turned she says "Come in." It's Don Max the Lech and he grabs her! (Noooo. Just kidding!) It's Santos' hottie mom. Don Maximo sure does like them young, she looks like she could be Rosita's sister. She's come from San Mateo to visit Santos. She's worried about Santos. Rosita reassures her but Santos' mom is upset that he's working at la rinconada. She doesn't even want to go up there to go see him. She tells Rosita that Don Maximo is an evil man. Rosita agrees. She didn't need Santos mom to tell her that. Rosita offers to go find Santos and leaves. Santos' Mom says, to nobody in particular what we've all already guessed, that Don Max is Santos' father. And she never wants him to find that out.
Alina and her mom are talking in the cave. Soledad tries to persuade her daughter to forget Emilio and fall in love with Angel instead. It's clear that he already cares for her. If she marries Angel, he can solve all their problems. Alina looks doubtful. Angel's too nice. (Why do girls always go for the bad boy who treats them like crap?)Gaspar is talking to Luba he is still talking about his munequita and how Emilio is going to get her for him. Luba hits him on the head with the herbs she is collecting some more.
Soledad is still trying to convince Alina that Angel is already in love with her, she saw it the night of the dinner.
Back to Emilioooo, who is now talking to sneaky Orlando. Orlando wants to know what he's going to do about Thelma. Emilio has a plan to get rid of Thelma once and for all. He won't marry her. Just then the doctor comes in and Emilio asks how Angel is doing. The Doctor gives him a grim look.
Back to Soledad and Alina. Soledad has convinced her to try to get Angel to propose to her. She's still doubtful that he'd want to marry a dirty urchin like her (una mugrosa). But she'll go to him and tell her who she is and then she'll see if he asks her to marry him. All of a sudden Donkey, who has been ailing lo these many days since he got beaten up by Don Maximo's henchmen, starts barking. Alina gets excited and runs to him, happy that he's showing signs of life. Soledad says, to nobody in particular that God forgive her if her daughter still loves Emilio but she must marry Angel to save herself
Emilio and Maximo have a conversation about Angel. He's doing bad, since he was sick to begin with, then got punched by Emilio, and then was exposed to the elements for God knows how long, unconscious in the dirt before Gaspar brought him back to the hacienda. (He doesn't even know about how Angel got thrown from his horse prior to all this and had to walk miles to the San Mateo village fair).
Santos, his mom and Rosita are talking. Mom says again she doesn't like him working for Don Maximo. She wants him to come with her to the town to help her with her Café. Santos says not to worry, he and Rosita are getting married and then they can go anywhere, maybe even to San Mateo to live near her. Rosita asserts proudly that would follow Santos anywhere.
Vera the servant comes in and tells Emilio that his uncle is looking for him.
Orlando is talking to Coral. Coral expresses sympathy for Emilio. Orlando once again mentions how Angel is doing pretty badly and how destroyed Emilio would be if Angel died. He's practically salivating at this thought. Coral is trying to decide whether to stay or go. She wants to stay to be near Emilio. Orlando decides to sow a little more discord by dropping to Coral that there's another girl in the picture, a country girl, "no where near as beautiful and sexy as you." Coral seems to take this under advisement.
Maximo and Emilio are eating breakfast in the garden. Emilio tells Maximo about his problems with Thelma and how he doesn't want to marry her. He tells Maximo that he's thinking of marrying someone else to get out of marrying Thelma—Flor del campo. Maximo almost chokes on his food. "Are you crazy?" he says. That rude girl? He asks Emilio if he's in love with her.
Flor/Alina and Rosita are talking. She loves Emilio but she wishes he were more like his brother. Flor admits that if Angel asks her to marry him, she'll accept. She has promised her mom. (dramatic music swells here)Orlando gets on horseback and says he's headed for San Mateo village
In San Mateo, Santos mom is talking to her co-worker at the Café. The co-worker asks how her visit to the hacienda went. She says that Santos is in love with Rosita and that they will marry soon but for that reason he doesn't want to move to San Mateo to be with her. The co-worker asks if he's going to continue working at the coffee plantation. No, says mom, he's working at the hacienda, directly for Don Maximo. The co-worker shakes her head and says that Mom better tell him that Don Max is his daddy and vice-versa. Mom shakes her head and says no, she's never wanted anything from Don Max and she doesn't want Santos to know.
Auntie Rebeca is knitting and singing Opera (badly). Thelma walks in bitching about her pregnancy symptoms. She's stepping out to see the doctor but is waiting for a call from Orlando. "I don't know why I trust him" she says. (Me neither, girlfriend.)
Gaspar looking quite manly in his shirtless overalls is splitting wood in the cave. Orlando walks in and asks where Flor is. Gaspar is reticent and when Orlando asks more questions, Gaspar menaces him with the giant machete he's using to split the wood. Orlando backs off and tells him to tell her that he was looking for her.
Angel wakes up from his coma and calls out to Emilio. Emilio, who is keeping watch over him, jumps up and eagerly approaches him, telling him to relax, to rest. Angel can't remember much.
Angel says that the village folk were going to lynch him at the fair (Emilio) and that he set the hay on fire to distract them from their goal. Emilio now feels super guilty for punching Angel when Angel was trying to save his life.
Don Maximo meets with Don Loco and Rutilio on horseback. Maximo tells Don Loco that he has a secret about his daughter. Don Loco first says he has no daughter but when Maximo turns to leave, Don Loco gets loco and doesn't let him pass. Maximo is kind of ticked off by this aggression on the part of Don Loco. He also suddenly feels guilty for breaking the confidence of his nephew and he refuses to tell, only that the secret has to do with his nephew and Don Loco's daughter.
Maximo rides off in a huff. Don Loco is then distracted by Rutilio who has grabbed up Santos. "This is the guy you wanted, boss," says Rutilio. Don Loco threatens him with a gun and accuses him of helping Flor. At first, Santos bravely says that Don Maximo is his boss and that he'll be mad if Don Loco shoots him. Don Loco tells him that Maximo is his friend and besides HE, Don Loco is the law around here. He warns Santos, with his gun cocked at the young man's head that if he continues to help Flor, it's going to go badly for him. He dismisses him and Rutilio drags him away and releases him.
Flor is talking to the Priest of San Mateo, in front of the big white church. She confesses to the priest that she has promised her mom to marry Angel if he asks her. But—she still loves Emilio. The priest says, yeah but, didn't you tell me awhile back that Emilio treats you like dirt? Yes, says Flor, "but it's almost as if he is making an effort to hate me and treat me badly for some reason. " And besides, she adds, I can't change my feelings for him from one day to the next.
The priest shakes his head and drops that Don Loco came by and asked for Alina's baptismal certificate so that he could destroy it. The priest said that he refused to let him do it. He knows that Alina is really Don Loco's daughter and that Soledad didn't cheat on him.
Emilio is chatting with the bedridden Angel. Angel's remembering a bit more about that night. Emilio tells him that he knows that he was trying to protect Flor. Angel says, she's not a bad person, she just lives in a cave in abject poverty. Emilio says not to worry, pretty soon she's going to live in a palace like a princess. Angel looks puzzled but Emilio changes the subject. He tells Angel that the doctor ordered total rest for him and he's going to go see about getting him some hot soup.
In Puebla, Auntie answers the phone in Thelma's apartment. Orlando's calling, he wants to talk to Thelma urgently but she's not there. No message. He'll call back later. Just as they hang up, Thelma walks in and is ticked to find out she missed the call.
Also in Puebla, Elias and Blanca are talking. Blanca tells Elias that Thelma said she's marrying Emilio Valtierra. She gets that worried look and says maybe she could go to Sierra Escondida while Elias goes to Veracruz. That way they could both make inquiries about Alina and Soledad at the same time. Elias is skeptical that she could be on her own in SE but Blanca says, what's the big deal? She can go by car to San Mateo and take the stagecoach to the hacienda in SE.
Back at Don Loco's hacienda in SE, Don Loco bursts into Soledad's room for the thousandth time. He barks at her, "what do you know about YOUR daughter and Emilio Valtierra?" He explains that Maximo was hinting at something earlier. Again Soledad protests that she knows nothing. Don Loco grabs her roughly by the arm. No more visits to or from her daughter. Don Loco warns her that he's given Sergio orders to shoot anyone who comes near her.
Angel is resting in bed. An attractive nurse in full professional whites is adjusting his IV while the Doctor consults with Emilio about his situation. He's doing a little better so keep up the treatment.
Rosita and Alina are chatting while walking to the cave. They talk about her mom and how much she's suffered. Alina mentions that she'll go see Angel tomorrow, like she's promised.
Thelma is pacing in her apartment. Finally Orlando calls and tells her that she must come to Emilio's hacienda in Sierra Escondida IMMEDIATELY. She wants to know if he has said anything about marrying him, about the pregnancy. Orlando is evasive. He just says she has to come to the hacienda. How about this weekend? Perfect, says Orlando. Orlando then gives her directions on how to get there.
After the phone call, Orlando goes back to la Rinconada and yells for Emilio. Emilio is ticked at him, that he basically disappeared all day and didn't work. (What about Emilio? Is he on some kind of family leave to tend Angel? Didn't look like he got much done either). Orlando clicks his heels and says "Si mi capitan" rather sarcastically. He tells Emilio that he made some phone calls. He "found out" that Thelma has been making inquiries all around and now knows where Emilio is. "Don't be too surprised if she shows up here one of these days." Emilio isn't exactly impactado but he scowls.
Back in Puebla, Thelma and Auntie are talking. Thelma is worried about what's up with Emilio. She thinks that Emilio is going to try to get out of marrying her. (DUH) Her Auntie says, "if he says no, just turn on the waterworks. Tears always soften a man's heart." Thelma shakes her head. That's not Emilio. Nevertheless, she's not coming back to Puebla single. Her Aunt says, "That's the spirit!"
Emilio and Orlando are still talking. Emilio tells Orlando, let her [Thelma] come. She's going to get a surprise. Orlando says, what's the surprise? Emilio walks away saying "You'll see…" Orlando isn't so much impactado as he is puzzled. He plops on the couch.
Alina/Flor is in her "room" in the cave, with Donkey. He's looking a little livelier. She says to no one except maybe Donkey, "I'd be upset if Angel was hurt because of me. What do I do to see him? I'm sure that they won't just let me into the rinconada…" Gaspar pokes his head above the curtain. He says he has something to tell her. She lets him into her "room." Gaspar tells her about his plan to get Emilio to find him his munequita from the Devil's cave cabaret and give her to him. Flor looks confused but she wants to go la rinconada to see Angel and since Gaspar wants to tell Emilio about his plan, they both head out.
At la rinconada, Emilio is telling Maximo that he wants to marry Flor as soon as possible. Thelma is on his case. Maximo is puffing on a stogie and frowning probably thinking about how this new twist is already complicating his delicate relationship with Don Loco, who although he's certifiable, he's also the law in these parts.
Maximo asks him if he's thought through this plan. Will she accept your offer? It doesn't seem like she even likes you. Emilio counters that when he kisses her, he can tell that she does. Maximo shakes his head and says that she's a headstrong, proud and rebellious girl. "Who knows what she's really thinking? She'll probably say no, just to be contrary."
Gaspar and Alina/Flor have arrived at la Rinconada. One of Maximo's henchmen is trying to give them the boot when Emilio shows up and says Alina can visit Angel. He'll take her to his room.
After she goes, the servant asks Gaspar what he's there for. Gaspar says that he's there to ask Emilio for the favor he promised him.
Now we're at the Canefields, where we've not been in some time now. Alfonsina and Hugo are making out in the canefield. Hugo is worried that Don Loco will show up and see them. Saucy Alfonsina says she doesn't care. Maybe then he will realize that he can't play with her affections. She'd rather be with a guy who really cares about her. Hugo is ticked at Don Loco. He's been gone too long and there's so much work to be done! Alfonsina says what's the big deal? It's great if he's gone, they can pretend the whole place is theirs! (I agree, I'd be happier with him gone all the time too, if he were my boss)
This idea seems to shock Hugo, however and he walks away from her to check up on the workers. The boy who seems always to be some kind of messenger runs up and asks for his orders. Hugo says to tell everybody to get everything in order. The patron could come at any time.
The boy asks about Dona Soledad and Alina and Hugo gets mad. He says it's none of his business and not to say anything to anyone who asks about them.
Back in SE, at la Rincondada, Alina/Flor and Emilio are walking on the way to visit Angel. Emilio is in his green uniform, with his cap tucked into his epaulet. He apologizes to Flor for his drunken behavior the other night and said he would never have struck his brother if he hadn't been toasted. He's really sorry about the way he's treated her and he asks for her pardon.
He says that night he had a lot of anger. He was smarting at her accusation of him as an exploiter of his workers, as someone who was heartless. He wanted to pay her back for those insults. When the fair came up he saw his chance. "I'm not as bad as you think. I know I have my faults…"
Flor reproaches him and says that he treated her really badly. He takes her hands in his and asks for her forgiveness again. He wants to start over. Flor agrees, smiling. Emilio thought bubbles: I want to get into her pants! Ha Ha not really! He thinks: I can't resist those eyes.
Back at the Cane field, Elias shows up much to the chagrin of Hugo. Elias says he wants to see his goddaughter and asks again where Don Alvaro and his family is. Hugo says (again) "He's travelling." Elias says: "I know, that's what you always say! Tell me where he went!"
Before Hugo can reply, there's Don Loco on his horse, greeting Elias personally.
Emilio brings Flor to see Angel, with his pretty smiling nurse who is now wearing an all white pantsuit with her fetching nurse's cap. Emilio leaves and Flor tells Angel that Emilio asked for her forgiveness. Angel is as impactado as he can be, being sick and all. His eyes get sort of big and round.
At the Cane field, Alvaro, who is not wearing all black today for some reason, tells Hugo to put his horse away and to wait in his office. He walks with Elias. I'm sorry Hugo is a little rude, he's only following my orders.
Elias waves that away but says he'd like to see Soledad and his goddaughter Alina, he's not seen them in such a long time. Don Loco frowns and says Alina is in Europe studying and Soledad is in Sierra Escondida for a rest. Elias says, "Enough with the lies, already!" Finally somebody around here can smell BS!
Don Loco turns angry and accuses him of being in love with Soledad. They glare at each other.
Angel and Alina/Flor are discussing Emilio's apology. Alina wants to know if Angel thinks his brother is lying. Angel says no, he is usually frank. But Angel says he wants to protect Flor, in everything…(?) Alina sits on Angel's bed and says she thinks that they will be getting to know each other better. Angel smiles wanly.
Gaspar is trying to explain his grand plan about locating his munequita to Emilio. Emilio sounds confused. But Gaspar mentions the Devil's cave Cabaret and Emilio is immediately intrigued. He asks Gaspar to sit down and tell him his tale.
Back to Elias and Don Loco's standoff — Elias protests that he loved Soledad years ago and when she married Alvaro, he was happy just to regard her as the wife of a friend. Don Loco doesn't buy it and orders him to stay away from Soledad. And not to worry about Alina either. "She doesn't even remember you or Blanca." He huffs off saying he has lots of work to do. Elias just stands there impactado and kind of angry.
Flor is talking to Angel. She says she understands that somebody told Emilio that she was a thief and for that reason he had a bad impression of her from the beginning. In contrast, she says, Angel was always kind to her and she always knew he was good.
They start a discussion about whether Angel is good or not when Emilio comes in with the nurse and cuts off the visit, saying Angel has to rest. He tells Flor to come with him.
Coral and Orlando are walking in a little grove with a fountain and some gorgeous bougainvilleas are in bloom. Coral looks a bit ratty in a cutoff denim skirt and a tank top. She's been waiting for Emilio to show up. Orlando says look, Coral, I'm going to be frank with you. Emilio isn't coming. His girlfriend (prometida) is going to be showing up here. She's pregnant and she wants Emilio to give the child his name. Coral asks, "And is the child his?" Orlando answers carefully, "Who elses would it be?" In any event, says Orlando, "Thelma is a person you want to be careful with. Take my advice and leave before she gets here." Coral looks like she is processing this.
Thelma is packing her suitcase for the trip to Sierra Escondida. Her Aunt asks her if she is taking the red dress. No! Says Thelma, it carries some bad memories of 'that night.' "Oh, but it's so pretty!" says her Aunt. "OK," says, Thelma, "maybe I'll wear it one day. She puts it in the suitcase.
They go over their travel plans. Apparently Aunt Rebeca is going with her. Thelma mentions her apprehension at seeing Emilio again. She says afraid that he'll reject her. Her aunt says you'll get him back; you are an expert at that. Thelma expresses doubt but says she'll fight like she never has before to win him again.
Back at la Rinconada, Emilio and Alina/Flor are having a drink of water. Flor asks where Orlando is. Emilio looks a little surprised. He says that he's probably off working somewhere. Flor says she thinks he is a nice person, that he has always treated her well. Sure, says Emilio. He's just been trying to compete with me.
Flor looks puzzled. Look, says Emilio, do you think I acted like a jerk and got drunk because I wanted to? (I don' t know, sounds like a good enough reason, we all were pretty convinced with the jerk act.) Flor looks confused and frowns saying, uh, and this was because…? Emilio confesses that since he moment he first saw her, he was taken with her and he spent all his time trying to drive her out of his mind. Her insults and her hatred of him made him crazy. Because really all the time… he trails off. Flor is perplexed. "Really, what?" Emilio hesitates and says that he'll pay her a visit…tomorrow!
Don Loco and Hugo are drinking Tequila in a bar, rehashing Elias' visit. Loco tells him that he told him that Alina is studying abroad and Soledad is in Sierra Escondida. Hugo sounds panicked, "what if he decides to go there to see her?" Don Loco says "I don't think he would dare." "But if he does, Sergio will be there to receive him."
The soldiers, including Orlando and Emilio are doing some kind of surveying measurements, probably for the new road. Orlando mentions to Emilio that he knows that Flor came by la Rinconada. Emilio says yes, she came to visit Angel and Emilio says that he really appreciated it and furthermore, Flor is a really nice girl.
Orlando is none too pleased. He expresses surprise that Emilio is appreciative of anyone's courtesy and that unlike Emilio, he knows how to treat women like ladies. Emilio smiles and pats him on the shoulder as he leaves. He tells Orlando that he's learned from him and that from thenceforward, he will be treating Flor like a lady. After he leaves, Orlando curses him and vows not to let Emilio take Flor away from him.
Flor is talking to Luba in he cave. Flor as usual is filled with illusions about Emilio. "He was only treating me badly because he was fighing against falling in love with me." Luba tells her that Emilio only wants her to be his mistress. Guys like Emilio don't marry girls like you. "And what if I tell him who I really am?" asks Flor. "If he were a good man," says Luba. "Maybe… But he's bad, he is happy with all he stuff the patron has done to you!"
Flor looks troubled. Luba goes on another tear about how all men are bad and Flor should wake up and stop dreaming.
The next day, Flor meets Emilio by the river and a waterfall. I could barely make out what they were saying with all the background noise. I think he said that he was glad he found her because Luba wouldn't say where she was. The were standing on the edge of he river, Emilio in his flowing white shirt open exposing a good bit of chest hair and Flor in a white t-shirt with her little hippy satchel. Emilio grasps her hands and asks her to marry him. Flor, full of excitement says YES!
Of course we all know that the fun has only just started.

La Fea Más Bella #203 2/5/07 In which Omar gives us a vocabulary lesson and Fern learns how to pronounce "DomensaEEN."
She calls Caroline to find out where Aldo is, thought-bubbling about how much she misses him. No answer.
Next Lety is escorted to Fern's old office. She sits in his chair. Her infamous old garbage is there! "Why was this bag full of lies saved?" Throws picture of Marcia on the bag. "Why did you leave me your garbage?"
Aldo is, meanwhile, thronged by the adoring, simpering cuartel members and is simultaneously getting the Sexy Siren vibe from Alicia, who commences powdering her cleavage. Coming around the corner, Tomas observes this and has a spasm of jealousy about his "big momma."
Aldo goes out for a little air to escape all this attention and kill some time till Lety is free to see him. After he leaves, Lety arrives and Tomas says: "There's some guy looking for you, I don't like the look of him at all."
I loved this next part. Fern and Aldo are on a collision course as Aldo heads out and Fern is arriving. Aldo blocks his way with a strange little shuffle, forcing Fern (who first asks, "Shall we dance?") to introduce himself and shake hands. "Fernando Mendiola." Aldo, staring him down: "I've heard a lot about you." "Uh, do we know each other?" "We have friends in common. I'm Aldo Domensain." "And what are you here for, DomensaEEN?" "Various things. For instance, I have business with Luigi Lombardi." Aldo walks away, leaving Fern shouting behind him, "Nice to meet you, we'll catch up later."
Omar bumbles into his perplexed partner and asks, "Who was that?" "Aldo Domensayne." "Isn't it DomensaEEN? Like those..." asks Omar. "What? there's a name like that? With the accent on the 'i'?" [I see a new shtick developing here.] Well, I don't like him, he has soperbia (I think it's 'an attitude'), he's sangrón (annoying), altanero (arrogant). He acted like he was the owner of Conceptos - which of course I'M not - DomensaEEN? [goes on tiptoes as he says "EEN"] [walking away with Omar] Is he from Spain? ..."
Lopez is working on where to put Erasmo. "There's Omar's office..." "No," says Lety, "that's off-limits." "OK," says Lopez, "I'll keep looking for something suitable for your eminent, high level."
After he leaves Erasmo asks Lety: "Rather than finding one on another floor, how about the office YOU had? Where is it?" She shows him her little closet. Erasmo calls it a hueco (a squinchy little parking space, a stairwell, a hole in a tree) and asks, "who worked here? The Phantom of the Opera? La Llorona?" "I did." "How??! Who dared put you in this hole?" "At first it was just till they found a better space, but time passed, and Don Fernando needed me all the time, and I decided to stay here. I love this place."
"I didn't pay for university and postgraduate and special degrees to have you in this dark stuffy hole." "It wasn't bad. True, there aren't windows, but just look at this little lamp - you can turn it on, off, on, off, to tell if it's day or night! You got your two telephones [makes a mocking phone demonstration], and a great computer with all the most advanced financial programs... and look how fast you can get to the archives! [Rolls her chair back a few inches and hits the bookcase.]" Erasmo decides to stay: "If you could tolerate it, so can I, we're made of the same stern stuff! And this way I can be near you." Awww.
In his office, Omar reassures Fern: "If she let us use this office, she can't hate you so much." "Of course she does!" "Nah, she's melting, soon she'll fall into your arms, just use all your old tricks." "She won't listen." "If you want, I can explain things to her." [Worst idea of the week.] "She doesn't trust me and I don't know how to express what I feel. While we were apart, all I wanted was to get back with her, while all she wanted was to forget me."
While Aldo is outside, dancing with Fern, the fight over him is waged in his absence by Alicia (powdering her cleavage) and Luigi. It ends when Aldo pops out of the elevator and heads directly for Lety. Those people who say "no chemistry between Aldo and Lety" are stubborn Fernites. In fact, there is a sweet and very charged moment as Aldo and Lety smile at each other and he touches her hair tenderly, while all others are impactados. They give each other a twirl and she happily introduces him to all. They go off to gab.
Meanwhile, Omar goes on with his "reflections." "The weaker sex, women's suffering is a thermometer for the intensity of their love. They like to call their friends, talk about how destroyed they are, drenched in a sea of tears, then they say: 'I love this wretch.' Women don't cry for happiness, that's just in telenovelas. Lety suffered so much for you, her love can't be snuffed out already."
"Magnificent theory. Then why didn't she marry the first man who hurt her?" "Because you came along and made her suffer more. Newton or somebody discovered this theory." "Omar, know what people think of you? They think you're a sewer rat, navigating the black waters."
"OK, here's another thought. Did Marcia love you because you're the greatest guy in the world? No, she suffered for two years ["three" interjects Fern], she suffered like crazy, but if you stepped up and said you'd marry her, she'd say yes and be happy." "Lety's different, you don't know her. Here's MY theory - there's nothing more 'radical' than a woman who's made up her mind, and Lety has." "Mr. Ex-President, you're so stubborn. When a woman says no it means maybe; when a woman says maybe it means yes; when a woman says yes it means Right Now." They agree Lety's different and Omar asks, "Have you told her you loved her?" "Yes, and at that moment the phone rang, guess who called? M - M - MAL TIMING!"
After marvelling over how hard it will be to make 2-mill-plus dollars a month for three months, they consider the tiny amount of space in the office they must now share, and Omar gives Fern, and us, a vocabulary lesson. "For three months we must somentamonos, subjugate ourselves, it's a new word for me..." They discuss rearranging things - Fern has to go get his stuff out of Lety's presidential office. "Hacinamiento (stacking/piling/heaping), that is to say amontonamiento (piling up, crowding together), Mr Ex-President, you can look it up in the dictionary. ... It will be like our old school days when we used to share a desk."
Fern comes in search of Lety and is MUY IMPACTADOS to find she is with Aldo. He suffers one of his delicious bouts of jealousy and goes back and tells Omar, "She's with HIM! With DomensaEEENNNN with an accent on the I!"
In the conference room Lety and Aldo are beaming at each other, talking softly about business while their eyes are saying something else entirely. It gradually occurs to them that Aldo's huge [boring] project, concocted with honcho restauranteur Guillermo - aka "Gastronomic Tourism of Mexico" - could be turned into a huge undertaking - advertisements and expositions around the world! - and if Conceptos designed and implemented the whole campaign, it might even pay the bills.
Aldo gets closer and the atmosphere gets more tender and he says, "I have some other things pending ... how's your heart? Are you still suffering for Fernando Mendiola?" and we can tell by Lety's puckered-O mouth that she's mighty glad it's suddenly time for the Golden Circle of Goodbye!
